finished the silence of the girls. crying for a combination of the book and the rest of life
#i started keeping track of how many times i cried today after it had happened twice#not counting book-related i cried seven times#and if you count crying at this book i cried ten times total#i dont know what all it’s been. a lot of things. the stupid national debt was one of them. i’m on my period#i cried about the national debt and how my friends don’t love me and how someone important was absent from school and how no one is serious#and how my dad couldn’t help me and how my mom is on an airplane and how i can’t fix anything for my sister until it’s too late#and maybe i cried eight times because i know too that i cried at the idea of my teacher calling home and my dad taking away the door#and how even though i would do anything for that not to happen again i still couldn’t make myself submit what i had#(it’s okay now. the teacher says it would be a shit AP essay but fine for this class. so i’ll be okay)#i also skipped two meals today. part cause i had a stomachache but mostly because i had the excuse of saying i had a stomachache#i dont know if i would have been able to eat anything but i do know it was on purpose that i didn’t try#but hey. everything is supposed to be fine. i’m going on a date (kind of maybe) next week. my band is doing my stupid trans period song#the play i co-wrote will be performed on stage next weekend. i’m sleeping in a real bed this week#but everything feels a little hollow and fake. and somehow i have enough tears to last me to the end of the day

Youngest Shadow- Chapter One, Two Sisters, Dad
Tumblr media
One | two | three | four | five | six |
I was never a people person, not wanting to rely on someone.
Especially family, I didn’t need help.
I am not vulnerable, I couldn’t be. I saw how it affected people on a daily. High schoolers in relationships getting dumped, cheated on, having to many dramas in between them.
It was unnecessary.
I had my small circle and most of them were blood related to me.
My mom, my sister, Bella, and my father who lived across the country.
Oh, and my best friend. But practically family.
I’m content in my lifestyle too. I didn’t need pity from anyone. Either way that’s what I get from everyone. Even my older sister who tried to act like she understands.
My life was consistent. Making sure my mom was happy, helping my sister from losing her mind because of mom needing so much adventure. Other than doing that I played sports, practicing everyday.
Trying my best, not to be the best but to keep up my adrenaline. Running helps the most.
Adrenaline kept me alive, if I could jump off an airplane I would. I would do every crazy thing imaginable just because of the adrenaline that came with it.
Even little things can entice me. My piercings, having to make them a secret from coaches to play sports. Riding my motorcycle anytime was the best feeling after getting it.
I snuck out a few times, not even to do crazy things but to just say I did it.
You would think living in Arizona helped me with keeping my adrenaline up but you’d be wrong. It’s the same thing everyday now. I know what’s around.
And the heat, don’t get me started.
As much as I love my mom, I wanted to be in a forest hiking, see a fucking wild animal that could attack me. Jump off cliffs for the hell of it. Ride my motorcycle on different roads.
Seeing my dad, maybe join him in action. Hunt with him even.
Speaking of which, I stood beside Bella, my older sister by 10 months. She had just said goodbye to some “friends” who seemed like they could care less that she was leaving.
I turn to see our mom walking out of the house, so much energy balled into one person. She had hints of sadness and anxiety pulled on her face, trying to hide it with being happy for us.
She thrusts a phone into the hands of my sister, “It won’t work again, baby.” She frowned, her face always looked like it moved with every feeling she had. Never being able to hide how she felt. “You put it on hold.” Bella points out, the tiniest bit amused.
“I did?”
I smirk, trying to stop myself from laughing.
As much as it is funny it is worrisome, how will we reach her if she doesn’t even know how to work a phone.
“Look, you also called Mexico.” Renée pushes Bella, nudging me as well as the three of us laugh.
“I’ll figure it out. You gotta be able to reach me and Phil on the road.” She exclaims right before she gets excited. “I love saying that,” she grins, “On the road.”
“Very romantic,”
“Very.”
Bella and I both say, silently glancing at each other.
Phil comes up behind our mom, “If you call crappy motels, back water towns and ballpark hot dogs romantic.” He jokes, well partially since he was serious.
He places a Phoenix Desert Dogs baseball hat on Renées head, along with kisses her.
Looking at them partly soothes my nerves about leaving mom. Im sure Bella feels the same since we practically took care of her for so long. Even though it should’ve been the other way around.
Phil walks away, to finish packing the car with our things. Renée grabs a hold of both of our arms, clinging to us as we walk to the vehicles.
I’m driving my motorcycle, mom wanted to get a trailer for it since it’s a really long drive but I convinced her not to. I couldn’t sit in a car with them for that long.
Plus I have a feeling Charlie is going to force me to anyway.
“Now you know if you two change your minds, I’ll race back here from wherever the game is.” Her face strained trying to hide how even though it would be a sacrifice she would still do it for us.
“You don’t have to worry.” I force a smile, Bella doing the same.
“We won’t change our minds mom.”
“You might, Bella. You’ve always hated Forks.” That’s true, I usually visited more than her. I had a closer relationship to dad, due to my interest of hunting like him.
“It’s not about Forks, it’s about dad. I mean unlike [Name], I went two weeks a year. We barely know each other.” She explains but I think it just worsened our moms worried expression. “Mom, I’m fine. I want to go. I got [Name] there with me.” She looked between us, hugging her eldest, whose face drops once she knew her mom couldn’t see it. It was full of dread and doubt. I also noticed the regret but kept quiet when she wants to bring it up she will.
They let go and Bella climbs into the car, moms attention going to me.
“I want you behind us at all times, you do not pass this vehicle. And no swerving.” She furrows her eyebrows, staring at me. “And don’t be stupid.” I add with a smirk, she rolls her eyes in a humorous way.
“I just want my baby girl safe.” She pouts, pulling me into a tight hug. “You don’t have to worry with me.” I miss her cheek, pushing out of the hug as I knew it would’ve been longer if I didn’t.
“Alright helmet and jacket and let’s go!” She pats my butt, reaching over and getting my helmet to give it to me. She gets into the van and I adjust my wired earbuds so one goes into my ear, stuffing the rest into my jacket and zipping it up.
I pull my helmet on and I press play on my iPod.
Getting to Washington State was a breath of fresh air, not only for my tired hand but the change of view and weather. My sister called it gloomy, never paying attention to the beauty of it all.
Dad surprisingly let me continue driving my bike, it was bittersweet for me. Really it was because he forgot the trailer. I kind of wish he did bring it because slouching like this for hours is not exactly fun. My back will be aching for weeks.
I’m just glad I didn’t have to sit in the awkward atmosphere of them two in that cruiser.
We passed a sign that said “The City Of Forms Welcomes You. Population 3246.”
I smile to myself.
Passing all of the familiar buildings I was missing felt amazing.
We pulled into Charlie’s driveway, I take my helmet off, sitting up straight for the first time in a few hours. Charlie comes over and messes with my hair as I climbed to his torso like a little kid. We laugh and he hugs me back.
I was the first to get into the house, putting my things right in my room. Really throwing them on the ground and rushing back out to see if Bella needs any help. My room was the only one downstairs. Dad had to make add it onto the house when they found out they were having me surprisingly.
I was truly the accident out of the two. Only three months after Bella was born was when I came around.
“I put Grandpas desk in your room. And I cleaned some shelves in the bathroom for you two.” He was mainly speaking to Bella. I watched her grimace. “That’s right, one bathroom.”
I followed her eyes around the house, going straight to a picture of our parents when they were younger and in love. “I’ll put these up in your room.” Charlie motions to her bags.
“I can’t do it.”
I silently stand there as they both reach for the bags, awkwardly bumping into each other causing me to cringe at the scene.
She backs off, letting him do it anyway. Which she should’ve done in the beginning. And I wouldn’t have seen that go down.
After that… experience, I followed my dad to the living room. “That was, nice.” He pauses for a minute before sighing. I place a hand on his shoulder. “It’ll get better. This is just new for both of you.” I smile sweetly and he nods, swinging an arm around my shoulders. But internally I’m just hoping I’m right. It’s going to be a long two years if I’m wrong. “What would I do without you?” He nudges me.
He lets go of me, telling me about how Billy and Jacob should be here soon to drop off surprises they’ve been working on. The one for Bella I knew about.
And right after it was spoken into the air we heard a honk outside.
I stand up straighter and run outside. A boy my age hops out of the red truck, rushing to give me a hug. “Jacob!” I laugh, this was the best friend I was talking about. My absolute best friend.
“Bella, you remember Billy Black.” Charlie speaks up, obviously Bella came outside after hearing the honk as well.
I let go of Jacob, “Glad you two are finally here. Charlie hasn’t shut up about it since you two told him y’all were coming.” He teases our dad, both Jacob and I snicker at the two who have always acted like this.
“Keep exaggerating, I’ll wheel you down the hill.” He tells the man who’s in a wheelchair.
“Right after I ram you in the ankles.” Billy goes after Charlie who dodges. Jacob shakes his head, I take him up to Bella. Poking him to say something.
“I’m Jacob, we made mud pies together when we were little kids.” He exclaims, she squints almost unnoticeably. “Yeah I think I remember.”
“Are they always like this?” She points to the two dads. “It’s getting worse with age.” He jokes.
Jacob always had a crush on Bella, so it was cute watching him finally be able to interact with her and not be a nervous little kid.
Cutting us out of our small silence Charlie pats the hood of the truck. We didn’t even notice they stopped messing around. “So what do you think of your homecoming gift?” He grins proudly. I watched my sisters face contort to confusion to happiness. “No way. The truck is for me?” Turning my focus to my dad who was soaking in her excitement. “Just bought it off Billy here.”
“I rebuilt the engine.” Jacob adds in.
“It’s perfect.” Her smile grew bigger, and more genuine. It was great to see her eager and happy about something. Her and Jacob rush to the truck so he could explain everything to her.
My dad snuck up to me, handing a small box. I look up at him confused. “Open it.” He motions. I stare at it for a minute, glancing over to Billy who puts his hands up as to say he knew as much as I did.
I bit my lip, opening the box carefully.
It had a locket inside, the same locket I would stare at in the window of an abandoned antique store that no one would clean out. The place I begged my dad to go into just to get me that necklace.
“The place finally got cleaned out and I just happened to be on patrol before they got rid of it.” He tells me.
“It doesn’t have a picture in it yet but I thought you could pick one you’d like.” I threw my arms around him, “it’s beautiful.” I pulled away to look at it in my hands again as it was a delicate flower.

(6) KISS AND TELL — NEYMAR JR
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: once you left the city with Davi your water breaks on the airplane and Neymar goes on a wild goose chase trying to find you
“Are you sure this is something you want to do? Or is this something you feel you have to do?” Your dad asked holding your duffle bag as you went past security.
“Yes I’m sure!” You snapped “If he wants to fight fire with fire then I’ll gladly play his game. I’ll kill him before my children get taken away from me.” Just as you were going to board the plane you stood there staring at the glass and watching the different planes take off.
“If I do this. He might never forgive me. But if he does this I’ll never forgive him.” You whispered hoping Davi didn’t hear. You looked down at him and sighed in relief knowing he was just enjoying his cheetos oblivious to what was going on.
“Are you sure sweetie? I can take you to a hotel, or do you want to board the plane?” You held your sons hand tighter and thought of what life would feel like if you could never hold his hand again let alone see him. “Yes. I’m very sure. Now stop asking.”
You sighed bending down to pick up your son holding him on your waist. “Davi baby you wanna see daddy?” You asked your son in a baby voice shaking his leg playfully.
“Daddy?” His eyes shone at the mention of his dad, your heart broke at the way he instantly perked up at the sound of his dad. He nodded looking up at you with his big brown eyes.
As Davi repeated the word “daddy” over and over again you contemplated your decision, go or stay? leave or go? The best choice in this situation was to leave until you could find out what the hell you were going to do.
“Sorry Davi we can’t see daddy yet. Your daddy is too busy being a backstabbing bastard.” You whispered the last part before continuing to board the plane. “Bye daddy, I’ll talk to you once I land.”
“Bye my love. I’ll see you later.” He kissed your cheek and smothered his grandson in kisses before waving you goodbye. You placed Davi in his stroller, grabbed your suitcase & begun to walk onto the plane.
“Ney, acalme-se! Queremos ajudá-lo!” [Ney just calm down! We want to help you] Neymar’s mom yells from on the phone, he’s practically swerving on the road cutting off anyone and everyone as if he’s driving under the influence.
“Como posso me acalmar? Se não fosse pelo pai dela, eu não teria ideia de onde ela está indo!” Neymar shouted at his mom, he was so upset he couldn’t even look at her let alone speak to her. [How can I calm down? If it wasn’t for her father I’d have no Idea where she’s going!]
“Só, fique seguro, ok? Não faça nada que lhe custe sua família.” She sighed knowing her son could be a hotheaded men whenever his family was in “danger” [Just, be safe okay? Don’t do anything that’ll cost you your family]
“Claro. Não sou apressado diferente de você” Neymar whispered hoping his mom wouldn’t hear his slight insult, shortly after he hung up and stepped on the gas. [Of course. I’m not hasty unlike you]
Once he arrived at the airport he stepped out of his car and saw one of the planes leaving. He checked his phone to see which airline you were taking and it was the very plane that took off. Except he didn’t know where it was going.
“Fuck.” He mumbled before getting back into his car and driving to the area for private planes. As he stepped out a flight attendant was waiting outside his door with a private plane right behind her.
“Hello Mr. Santos! Thank you for choosing our airlines. Where are you headed today!” Flight Attendant ask with a polite smile on her face.
“Um, my girlfriend- fiancé just left on a plane but I don’t know where it’s heading. All I know is that it’s that plane right there.” He pointed to the sky just before the plane hid in the clouds.
“Flight 492? Let me check…” The flight attendant opened her record book and skimmed the book for the flight you were on. “It shows that this plane is going from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro. Is that were you’d like to go?”
“Yes please! As soon as possible.” Neymar followed the flight attendant to the mini plane boarding as fast as they possibly could. About one million different scenarios we’re running through his head and only the bad ones happened to be appearing over and over again.
He sighed as he accepted a glass of club soda from the flight attendant staring out the window eyebrows as his hands shook in fear causing some of the soda to spill on his pants. “Shit.” He grabbed a bunch of napkins and begun cleaning the excess.
As he wiped the liquid from his pants he thought of what Davi would say if he was here. He laugh at him saying “daddy peed” over and over before actually helping him clean the mess. To say that he missed his son was definitely an understatement.
“Ladies and gentlemen we’re now 30 minties way from your destination. The snack tray will be coming around soon so please stay tuned for anymore updates.”
You moved in your chair, uncomfortable as your sat beside Davi who was too busy playing with his trucks.
The perks of being in business class meant nobody had to see the wet spot on your pants. Unluckily for you, your water broke mid flight and your contractions have yet to arrive but when they do you know they’ll be hell.
“Davi are you hungry?” he shook his head before continuing to play with his toys oblivious to what is going on with his mommy. You texted your friend Antonella the moment your water broke as she was the reason you even came to Rio.
Her and her husband; Lionel Messi were vacationing here and agreed to to house you until Neymar sorted out his stuff. The plans A-F didn’t include if your water broke funny enough.
Once the cart came around you quickly denied any snacks so they wouldn’t see your giant wet spot on your pants.
You knew stressing was the worse thing that could happen in this type of situation so you decided to continue watching your movie waiting desperately for landing.
Soon, God answered your prayer and had time move much faster to the point where landing was 5 minutes away. You packed up Davi’s toys and wore your coat to cover the stain.
Once the plane landed you picked up Davi and left the airport as soon as possible. Once you stepped outside you immediately spotted Antonella and sped walked to give her a hug. “Hello both of you! Especially you my Davi.” She pinched Davi’s Cheeks before grabbing your luggage.
“Thank you so much for this again. I don’t know how I could possibly repay you.” You kissed her cheeks before entering the front seat of the car after securing Davi in his car-seat.
“You can repay me by having a healthy beautiful baby girl.” Antonella comments as she starts the car and begins to drive the car reaching the nearest intersection.
“Yeah.” You sighed rubbing your stomach. “That’s gonna happen regardless. My water broke on the plane, I sat around with a stain in my pants for like an hour.” Antonela laughed at that before going silent.
“Okay, where are we heading? Hospital? Hotel?” You thought about it for second before responding.“Hotel. Definitely hotel.”
“Alright then.” She replied shortly before the car filled with silence.
As you guys are riding in peace you suddenly feel a sharp cramping feeling in your lower abdomen which causes you to jerk forward. “Holy crap, are you alright?”
“Yeah, yeah. It hurts but I’ll live. Hopefully.” The car goes silent once again as you stare out the window forgetting about everything that has happened in the last few days.
“Should I call him?” Antonella suggested, she had already told her husband Messi to be expecting you & Davi so he had probably notified his friend; Neymar about your whereabouts.
They would never do that on normal circumstances but seeing Neymar worried sick about you and his family made them feel really bad. Keeping silent about it was the best thing to do.
“No. Hes the last person I want to see right now & you know that.” You grumbled mood souring until your next contraction hits. It feels like your sitting on the head of your daughter so you placed your feet on the dashboard.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Antonella asked once again looking at you with concern. Not for hand-stitched Italian leather or your shoe marks on her dashboard. “Not really but It’ll be okay.”
Antonella begun to drive faster until she reached the vacation home her and her husband were staying at. It was safer to stay here rather than a hotel. She helped you out of the car before heading to the back and grabbing Davi out of his car seat.
You walked into the home and was met by Lionel who immediately grabbed your bags.
“(Name)! It’s so great to see you. How’s the little pancake?” You giggled as you kissed both of his cheeks before walking to the living rooms holding your stomach and sat down.
“She’s coming. She’s not being very nice to her mommy though. Contractions feel like a curse.” You breathed heavily in and out stroking yours stomach. Shortly after Davi walked in rubbing his eyes holding his stuffed animal.
“Mama are you alright?” He asked sitting beside you. You nodded pulling his head onto your shoulder. “Yes I’m alright. Are you?”
“No, I wanna see daddy. I miss him.” Davi smiled turned into a frown as he looked down with a sad look on his face. “I know you do. You’ll get to see him eventually, I promise.”
Just as you finished your sentence you felt another sharp pain except these ones felt much closer together. “Davi go upstairs and play with Thiago & Mateo okay?” Once he had left you grabbed Lionel’s upper arm and squeezed it as hard as you could digging your nails into his arm.
“We gotta go to the hospital now Honey.” Antonella sat between you and Lionel, grabbed your hand and begun stroking your back. She tried to get you off the couch but you wouldn’t budge.
“No not yet. Let’s go once I’m screaming in pain on the floor.” You waved her off and begun to breath heavily. “Are you sure?” She asked once again.
“Positive.” You answers shortly before waving her off again this time along with her husband.
“Did you call him?” Lionel asked in a whispered voice as he and Antonella snuck into the kitchen to converse.
“No did you?” Antonella asked with her eyebrows raised at her husband. Lionel’s silence was enough of an answer for her. She elbowed him him is side making him wince in pain. “You did, didn’t you?”
“I’m sorry but he was basically a mess on the phone when he called me. It was depressing to hear.” Lionel admitted with a sheepish look. “Leo you idiot! When a woman needs space it means a woman needs space”
“Well that woman is in labor! And I’m pretty sure she’s gonna have her baby on our couch!” He whisper shouted at his wife.
“Don’t you think I know that you fool! You can’t- don’t call him until she’s at the hospital about to give birth. any added stress could end up harming her baby.”
They both nodded before returning to the living room where you were so sweaty your hair was sticking to your forehead and your palms had nail marks in them from being dug into so hard.
“Alright Mama we’ve gotta go now. Leo go get the kids and load them into the other car. We’re gonna ride alone okay?” Lionel went upstairs to go get the kids while Antonella wiped your forehead sweat and helped you to the door.
The rest of everything was a blur, the car ride, the admission to the hospital, the vaginal exam everything was blurred until you realized you were in a hospital room.
Tears were brimming your eyes as you instinctively looked around the room for Neymar. You’ve been pushing him away for the past 5 days but right now you want nothing more than for him to be here.
Except your stubbornness wouldn’t allow you to admit that. Luckily for you, you had an incredible friend alongside you who knew exactly what you’d need in your situation.
“Darling I’m gonna step outside for just a second I need to make an important phone call.” Antonella quickly stepped outside of the room and walked to her husband who was waiting right outside the room.
“Did you calls him?” Antonella asked her husband in a hush hush tone.
“Yeah he’s on his way soon.” Lionel kept his answer short as every time he got sidetracked Matteo would hit him in the face with his toy truck.
“Call him again she’s at 8cm” Just as she finish her sentence she heard Davi scream out causing her to whip her head in that direction.
“Daddy!” Davi screamed out as he ran down the hall and hugged his dad. “I missed you so much papa.” Neymar hugged Davi extremely tightly tears falling down his face. Just seeing his face again made his world whole once more.
“I’ve missed you too Davi. So much.” He whispered out hugging his son tighter. It felt like an eternity before he let go after hearing a loud scream from your room.
“Oh God. Is she in there?” Lionel & Antonella both nodded with fear on their faces from the noises that were coming from your room. “Go, go quickly we’ll look after him.” She ushered him into the room.
“Alright it’s time to push now dear.” The OB informed you, you had asked to wait as you had a feeling Neymar would be here although from your perspective it didn’t seem like that.
“No I can’t.” You cried out, squeezing the life out of the OB’s hand. “I can’t do this without him. I’ve never done this without him. I won’t.” You begin to hyperventilate crying harder than you thought you ever could.
You heard the door opening and checked thinking it was Antonella coming back from her phone call. You choked up with relief & confusion after seeing Neymar before screaming out in pain feeling another contraction stab you in the lower abdomen.
Neymar quickly rushed to your side taking your hand in his, kissing your hand, stroking your hair & all the things he did last time you were here giving birth to your son.
“Now it’s really time to push, right now. Go ahead push for me.” You squeezed Neymar’s hand before pushing as hard as you could, It felt like your vagina was on fire & a bunch of needles were poking you all over your body. That’s how bad you felt.
Even with all that pain you couldn’t concentrate on anything but the fact that Neymar was really here.“You’re here. You’re really here. Are you sure I’m not seeing things?” You asked the OB’s really quickly as you were trying to push, talk, breath and scream all at once.
“Yes Princesa. I’m really here. It’s okay we can talk later just focus on bring our daughter into the world safely and healthy.” He kissed the back of your hand once again before his face contorted into one of excruciating pain.
After 30 minutes of pushing your healthy baby girl; Valentina-Rosa Camíla Santos-[Last Name] was born at 8:25 PM at 5 pounds & 8 ounces. You cooed at your newborn as the OB brought her back into the room and handed her off to you. Immediately you soaked in her newborn smell, sniffing her head and patting her bottom.
Neymar was standing beside you staring at his daughter unsure if you were still angry at him and just forgot in the heat of the moment or that was all over.
“You can come closer you know, she is your daughter.” As you called Neymar over she slightly opened her eyes and you saw a peak at the colour. “and she has your eyes.” Hearing that Neymar climbed into the hospital bed with you holding his hands out as you handed him his daughter.
“She’s absolutely beautiful. And she has your hair, when Davi came out he was basically bald.” You laughed at what he said as lightly as possible so you wouldn’t irritate your stitches.
Unfortunately since such huge babies have to come out of such small canals you had to wear freezer diapers to calm the swelling and irritation down.
“You known I’m sorry for what happened I really hadn’t-” You placed your index finger on his lips telling him to hush as you stroked your daughters perfect hair.
“We can talk about that later. Just enjoy our little pancake. I don’t even have the energy to talk about it.” Neymar hushed after that with a small smile on his face when his daughter wrapper her hand around his pinky finger.
“Wipe that smile of your face I said I have no energy to talk about it, not no energy to still be pissed at you.” You sent a side glare his way which still didn’t shake his smile as he shook his pinky slightly which moved his daughters hand.
After. the moment of silence he begun to speak saying, “I love you. So much. I’d never do anything to hurt you and you know that. You don’t need to say anything but I just needed to let you know.” Neymar babbled on, you looked at him the entire time which made him swallow nervously.
“Never mind, I need you to say something. Please.” He looked at you pupils moving from one eye to the other. You sighed and leaned into his ear whispering “I love you too.” Before taking back your daughter from his hands.
As you patted your daughter on her bottom staring into the distance you turned your head to face your boyfriend and caught him staring at you with a stupid smile on his face. “What? Something on my face?”
Neymar sighed before taking back Valentina and placing her in her incubator. Shuffling something out his pocket, he turned to you grabbing both of your hands staring into your eyes with so much love. “[Name], [Last Name], Will you marry me?”

Hey, me again! Sorry to bother you but I wondering if I can send a request about my favourite family (but of course remember to take the time you need to write this or completely ignore this request if you don't like it)? I was thinking about the reader coming back home from an afternoon with the other girls and once she comes back, she sees the most adorable scenario she has ever seen. Eddie and the other boys sitting on the tiniest chairs ever, wearing tiaras, make up, fake earrings, playing having tea with Penny and her stuffed animals. Idk, I thought it was cute😅
But Again, feel free to ignore this request if you don't want to write it. Thank you and I hope you have a nice day❤️
this was such a cute request for them and i enjoyed every single second of writing it. i hope i did it justice and i hope you enjoy!

If someone were to have told younger you, you’d be a mom before you were the age of 21, you probably would have punched them in the face, strictly because of the implication and the jinxing. While having a baby was something you entertained after seeing a particularly cute one out in the world or something, you weren’t overly fond of the idea of raising a tiny human with someone or even on your own. You considered yourself much too selfish for that.
  …However, if someone were to have told you you’d have Eddie Munson’s–one of three local freaks and town urban legend in the making—babies, you probably would have given them the keys to your car and maybe the deed to your parents’ home.
  Your crush on the metal head had a lasting effect on you. When you’d actually begun dating him, falling head over ass in love, being with him was all that mattered to you and it didn’t feel pathetic because it was all he wanted, too.
  Immediately after graduation came marriage and then Penny, your cute little Oopsie as Eddie referred to her when she was in your tummy. You preferred it over his original nickname for her, which was Creampie, seeing as how he was sure that was how she’d been conceived. You forced him to change it.
  Of course, since you had said baby with another on the way, you had to provide for them. Eddie had already been employed at an autoshop—his skill with the mechanics of a car was probably what led to Penny’s conception, you just couldn’t help yourself when faced with Grease Monkey Eddie—and Eden got you a job with her at her father’s firm as his partner’s receptionist.
  It worked out pretty well, Eden didn’t have a car so you’d pick her up before work since she’d rather jump off her roof than drive with her dad, who was also her boss, then afterwards you’d drive back to the trailer where Eddie and Argyle would be waiting for the two of you (if Argyle wasn’t off, she’d chill with your little family until he came to get her because she didn’t want to go home and you couldn’t blame her).
  Normally, your job wasn’t super stressful, you’d just been exhausted lately, though you didn’t exert yourself (Eddie would never allow it).
  Today you had felt every agonizing second of the work day, it had been so slow. You’d done all the filing, made all the copies, called all the people, there just hadn’t been as much going on as usual and after you’d managed to make it to lunch time, the last half of your shift was spent staring across the room at Eden, both of you blinking owlishly at each other, staring contests, trying to get paper airplanes to reach the other, anything to stave off the boredom. Suddenly, you couldn’t wait til you could take maternity leave.
  After work, you’d both practically sprinted to your car, the ride was spent bitching about the work day. The closer you got to your home, the more life you felt began to fill you; energy the work day had sucked away returning to you at the notion of seeing Eddie and Penny.
  If you had known exactly what you’d be walking into, you may have transcended into a higher level of joy.
  You and Eden were still chatting as you shut your car doors, still shedding the weight of the work day. She’d been talking about moving in with Argyle, something she was desperate to do but her parents were still hesitant about when you unlocked the front door, pushing it open for her.
  Eden had walked through the doorway and stopped, causing you to run into her back.
  “What’s the hold up?” You asked, peering around her shorter frame. The sight made you gasp.
  “Hi, honey!” Eddie greeted you, grin so wide it almost looked like it hurt.
  Eddie, Argyle and Jonathan—always dragged around with Argyle—were crouched in tiny pink plastic chairs (much too small for them to actually allow their weight to rest in, lest they break them) around the small table in the living room, which was cluttered with various kitchen utensils and Penny’s pink tea set.
  Not an unusual sight, since they always indulge your three year old. What was new was the bright colors adorning their faces.
  Eddie had on bright purple eyeshadow (complete with poorly replicated wings of eyeliner), cheeks powdered with an even brighter pink and lips coated in a deep shade of red lipstick, meticulously applied judging by the precision. Pink clip-on earrings dangled from his lobes and around his waist was one of Penny's pink tutus—stretched to its limit.
  Argyle’s long dark locks were in two high, messy ponytails. His eyes were decorated with a blue eyeshadow (ruined with various marks and stains of mascara), cheeks powdered bright red and lips a coral orange. His tutu was purple and his earrings were red.
  But Jonathan…oh, Jonathan. His eyeshadow was pink, cheeks pink, and lipstick a bright red. Penny was always more gentle with Jonathan, for some reason. His makeup didn’t look as messily applied as the majority of Argyle’s and Eddie’s. Unlike with them, Penny had attempted to draw on eyelashes for him, and he had smatterings of glitter sporadically around his face. Not only did he have one of her pink tutus and green earrings, he also got the privilege of wearing her favorite pair of fairy wings.
  He refused to make eye contact with you, staring into the tiny, plastic tea cup clenched in his hand.
  “Hi, babe. What happened here?” You asked, hand moving to hide your smile, though you were pretty sure it was obvious. Penny—dressed in her pink princess dress and a purple feather boa, pretty little face also covered in makeup with a plastic crown carefully placed on her head to make sure her curls didn’t get tangled in the combs of it (Eddie had to have put it on her)—returned from the hallway closet where her toy box was located, arms full of her stuffed animals, all of which she dropped the moment she saw you.
  “Mommy!” She squealed and you squatted down to allow her to run into your arms as Eden stepped out of the way and disappeared into your room. “LOOK, MOMMY! I made daddy and unca Ahgle and unca Johnny puddy!”
  “Uh huh,” was all you could say without laughing.
  “We awe having a tea pa’ty.” Penny informed you after she’d unwound her arms from around you, giving your baby bump a gentle pat before she ran back over to scoop up her stuffies. They were placed in the other empty plastic chairs surrounding the table and actually looked like they fit in the tiny seats, unlike the grown men.
  “Do you think I’m pretty, mama?” Eddie asked, batting his eyelashes at you with his red lips pulled into a mischievous smirk. Eddie was no stranger to makeup, you’d done his eyeliner for gigs plenty of times and he could now do it on his own, but that only involved lining his waterline and tightlining, not wings.
  He and Jonathan had silently stared at themselves in the bedroom mirror, self reflecting on how they got themselves in this position, for longer than either of them would care to admit. But Eddie would do anything for Penny and he knew you would get a crack out of seeing him like this.
  Argyle was too high (it was a perpetual thing at this point, he’d been stuck in a high since back in high school) to care, although he’d wanted his ponytails braided and Penny wouldn’t allow it.
  “I think you’re something,” You offered through your giggles and Eddie chuckled along with you, stopping only when a flash of bright light momentarily lit up the room and blinded him.
  Eden lowered the Polaroid camera she’d retrieved from your room, plucking the picture that whirled out.
  She shook it briefly and examined the developing photo with a careful eye before she smirked.
  “Oh, this is a good one. I gotta make a copy of this for Nance.”
  Jonathan stood up then, kind of. His butt was still stuck in the tiny chair so it went with him. “Eden, give me the photo.”
  Eden took that as her cue to take another one, cackling as she grabbed the film.
  Jonathan began to advance.
  “Eden—I mean it, give me the pictures—EDEN!” He shouted as she bolted out of the front door. He ran (as best as he could with a tiny chair attached to his ass) after her with Argyle following him to play instigator.
  “Run, baby, run!” Then when he realized he’d be in both pictures as well, “GET HER, JONATHAN!”
  Eddie was howling with laughter, causing Penny to join in even though she hadn’t been paying attention to what was going on. Once he calmed down, he stood up from his chair, pulling the thing off of his hips, he moved it to the side and sat on the carpet, patting the spot between his legs to beckon you over.
  You set your bag on the counter and went over to join them, settling between his legs as you leaned back into his chest with his encouragement for cuddles. Eddie pressed a kiss to your forehead, no doubt leaving a kiss stain as Penny set a little tea cup on a plastic plate down in front of you.
  “He’we you go, mama.”
  “Oh, thank you, Penny!” You lifted the teacup by its tiny handle and pretended to take a sip. “That’s very good!”
  “Yes,” she stated, pleased and already distracted with arranging her stuffed animals in their seats.
  “Long day?” Eddie asked, mumbling against the side of your head as he continued to press kisses wherever his lips could reach. He’d clocked the lingering bits of tension and stress on you the moment you’d walked into the trailer, he also swore he had a sixth sense tied to you somehow, because he could always tell when something was wrong. He’d get bouts of anxiety at work and come home to find out you’d had a terrible day, so he’d taken to just calling you when the feeling popped up.
  He hadn’t been wrong yet.
  “Yeah,” You sighed, turning onto your side as you burrowed further into Eddie and the soft shirt he wore. “It’s better now, though.”
  He hummed as you lifted your head, lips puckered.  With a grin, he closed the small distance, giving you your ‘welcome home’ kiss.
  “Awww!”
  You broke away, the two of you smiling as your attention was drawn to your daughter, who looked shy and had a small smile of her own as she wrung her little hands together.
  “You kissed.”
  Eddie chuckled, chest shaking against you.
  “We’ve kissed before, baby.” He pointed out. She’d witnessed you exchange thousands of (appropriate) kisses in front of her but lately she’d been cooing every time Eddie showed you affection. You thought she may like seeing you two love each other like the couples in the cartoons she watched.
  “Yes.” She giggled into her little palms, shoulders rising as she became even more bashful.
  You shook your head in amusement, raising a hand to rest your chin in, thumb absentmindedly stroking over your lower lip. You were surprised to see a shade of red over the skin of your thumb, considering you’d worn a nude shade of lipstick.
  Oh. Eddie’s lipstick. Right.
  Then you got to thinking about it, the gears in your head turning as your eyebrows furrowed.
  “Eddie?”
  “Yes?”
  “Where’d you get this makeup?”
  Eddie and Penny exchanged nervous glances and there was a long pause in between your question and his answer, deciding to try to get out of this like his daughter often tried to.
  “Yes.”
  “Eddie, is this my makeup?!”
  “Baby, I have to go pee, can you move real quick?”
  “You’re not getting away, answer the question!”
  Yes. It was your makeup.

I'm baaaaaaaaack!
Introducing: Sunless Lives Interludes!
Interludes are canonical but not-super-plot-relevant scenes. The number indicates where in the timeline they fall, or when they can safely be read without spoilers.
I am now taking prompts for these! I've never taken prompts before, I'm excited to know what people want expanded upon, or what character interactions you want to see. This one might be fluff, but they don't all have to be!
Without further preamble, here's Interlude 10.1: He Was a Joth.
~~~
“I was thinking. I told you my life story. Now I want to hear yours.”
Simon smiled at Matthew brightly, unphased by his mention of that dark night when he had poured his trauma out for Matthew. They sat cross-legged together on Simon’s floor, leaning against the couch and eating pasta alla norma that Matthew had made.
“Like, how did you learn how to cook?” Simon continued, taking a bite.
“My mom,” Matthew said, somewhat hesitantly. Simon glanced at him, sensing he’d stumbled upon a sore spot, but Matthew shrugged.
“I always cooked with her when I was little. She’s Italian - like, actually Italian, and she moved back to Italy when my parents divorced when I was…” He squinted, dredging up the dates. “Eleven, I think? I didn’t see her for a while, which was hard, but once I was old enough to travel alone I started flying out to see her every other year. Still do. We’re okay I guess, not super close anymore.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.”
“It’s alright. But yeah, I learned a lot of cooking from her, and it’s remained an interest of mine. I took culinary classes as an elective in college.”
Simon lifted a pasta-laden fork.
“Did they also teach you exclusively Italian dishes?” he smirked.
“No!” Matthew said, humorously overdefensive, “I just like Italian cooking.”
Simon giggled, which made Matthew flush red.
“What were you like as a kid?” Simon asked next.
“As a little kid, boring,” said Matthew, “I liked cars and airplanes and pretending to be a VIU agent.”
“Cute.”
“Then I did get a little weird when I was a teenager.”
Simon’s eyes lit up.
“Weird how?”
“Well, I was sad about my mom leaving, and I was starting to have feelings about boys, so I got really moody, and… kinda emo. Kinda goth.” Matthew couldn’t help but smile.
Simon leaned forward with a delighted grin.
“You’re kidding.”
“I’m not! And the extra weird part was that I was this massive football player too, so I was living this double life where I would leave football practice to go headbang in some kid’s garage.”
“So you were a goth and a jock. A joth, if you will.” Simon cackled, “You know what, I see it, you still wear all black most of the time.”
“Oh my God,” Matthew groaned, “And there are these pictures of me with my goth friends where it’s a gaggle of twiggy little teens and then just me, looming like emo Hulk in the background.”
Simon nearly choked on his food.
“I need to see those pictures.”
“You will, you will!” Matthew promised, “When you meet my dad, he’ll show you albums full of embarrassing shit.”
Simon stilled.
“You want me to meet your dad?”
“Uh, yeah?” Matthew said, like it was obvious.
“We’ve only been dating for like, two weeks.” Simon smiled shyly.
“You don’t have to meet him if you don’t want to.”
“No, I want to, I just…” Simon wiggled his shoulders and grinned. “You like meee,” he gloated.
“Duh.” Matthew leaned forward and Simon eagerly met him with a quick kiss. They stayed there nose-to-nose for a moment, just smiling at each other, before Matthew sat back and asked:
“Tell me about your books.”
“My books?” Simon blinked.
Matthew nodded at Simon’s bookshelf.
“You have Lord of the Rings and stuff… Did you always read a lot?”
Simon looked away, but he smiled a little.
“My dad would read to me a lot when I was little, always fantasy. Kid-appropriate stuff, obviously, I branched out more when I moved here and could spend my own money.”
Matthew turned to run his eyes over the titles, and couldn’t help his curiosity.
“I haven’t read it, but I know Game of Thrones has a lot of, like… sexual violence. Does that bother you?”
Simon was surprisingly receptive to the question.
“Every once in a while, but not usually. It’s different when it’s fiction. It can be…” He paused, searching for the right word. “Cathartic.”
Matthew nodded.
“That’s good. I’m glad you have that.”
Simon ducked his head, smiling.
“Yeah, I don’t have a lot of other interests outside of work, just reading, and running, and... stuff.” He glanced at the TV console where his fashion magazines were stowed away in semi-secrecy.
“I could teach you to cook,” Matthew offered.
“Thanks, but… I don’t really like cooking. Sorry.” Simon’s brow furrowed.
“That’s okay,” Matthew said easily, “Do you… want to talk about it?”
Simon considered, but shook his head, sitting up straight with a smile.
“Nah. I don’t want to ruin the vibe.”
“Okay. Let me know if you ever do.” Matthew leaned forward for another kiss. This one lasted a little longer.
“You done eating?” Simon breathed.
“I could be.”
“My room?”
Matthew nodded.
“Oh yes.”
WORST KIND OF HURT 4/5 (TARLOS FIC)
4.9K | AO3
Summary: It had only been a week. A week without his mom. And, he was already grasping at whatever he could hold onto of hers. He couldn’t lose that connection. He couldn’t lose the last pieces of hers. But, he never expected to find one more final connection, the form of a man determined for revenge. When one of Gwyn’s old court cases comes back to haunt TK in the aftermath of her death, Carlos and the others will have to unravel the mystery and the past to save him.
Here is the fourth chapter of my @911lsbb! I want to thank @lire-casander, @marjansmarwani, @terramous, and @morganaspendragonss for reading and helping me plot out things over the past couple months. It has been much appreciate. I also want to thank my amazing artist Friday for doing such great work on all the chapter. Just one more to go! Thank you for all the comments and kudos 💜💜.
TK was gone. That simple sentence kept running through his head. From the moment he’d pulled up to the wooded area. Maybe since Owen had first called. Hell, maybe the anxiety had started earlier that morning. When TK was sick to his stomach, struggling to eat or sleep. Grieving himself sick.
Would that be his fate now?
“Carlitos?”
He shook himself, looking up to see his dad crossing the distance between them. “Hey, dad.”
Gabriel gave Carlos a sad smile and squeezed his shoulder. “How are you holding up?”
“Oh you know…” Carlos shrugged. “My boyfriend is missing. Again.” He rubbed a hand through his hair, pulling at the gelled curls haphazardly. “After, you know, nearly dying in an airplane. That I put him in. After–”
“Mijo,” Gabriel interrupted. “That wasn’t your fault. This isn’t your fault. None of it is. We don’t know what happened. TK may have just gone off on his own. We–”
“Dad, we saw the weapons,” Carlos snapped.
“There was a knife and bat. Yes. But–”
“Weapons,” Carlos continued. “They’re weapons. Found beside TK’s phone. His broken phone.” He gave his dad a slight glare. “That has to mean something. It’s not nothing. It’s gotta be bad.” He swallowed thickly. “I just…”
“I know. It doesn’t look…” Gabriel ran a hand over his face. “I know how it looks, son.”
“It looks like someone took TK.”
Sun gathered all the kids in the daycare. “Are we gonna have fun?” “Actually today is a serious day. I need to talk to you all about what happened yesterday…” “my dad said I’m never allowed to see my mom again! I’m fine with that cuz she smokes and it’s yucky. My dad took the candle back and says this is for you instead” the kid hands sun a fancy looking candle that says “rose and floral and apology scent for when you messed up and need help making it right”. “He says he found the candle at the ‘$5 n’ less’ but he said not to tell you.” “That’s very nice. And i have a feeling it’s a good thing your not allowed to see your mom anymore. Not till your way older!
“The rest of you. I forgive that one kid who couldn’t read. I Spoke with his dad and English is their second language and he also had no idea the kid gave me that card he didn’t remember buying it for the kid. But the rest of you! Do any of you know what valentines day gifts are supposed to be and mean?” “OOOOO VALENTINES DAY IS WHEN MY THREE DADS YELL AT EACHOTHER CUZ THE ONE DAD BRINGS HIS GF BUT THEN THEY SETTLE DOWN AND THEY SHARE HER AND THEY ARE ALL KISSING AND” “AND WELL STOP RIGHT THERE BECAUSE THETE EXXXXACTLY WHAT IM TELKING ABOUT! Valentine’s Day is a day of giving gifts that really show how much you love your friends! Not a day to give sun your trash you don’t need. I am actually a little hurt bacause you all don’t seem to know how to be kind and share kind gifts and show your friends how much you love them.” The kids all looked st their feet snd shuffled them. “It’s ok your just kids but! Would you give any of the sifts you gave me to your parents?”
The kids said no. “I would! I gave you the flower with the ladybug on it by mistake and my mom loves bugs! especially spiders but she likes ladybugs too!” “I mean some of you gave nice gifts! The ones who gave NICE gifts and actually told me how much they appreceate me get a gold star for their kindness”. “I want a platinum star”. “Your roses and uh diamond were more of a bribe for you mom not getting in trouble for not paying for you so you don’t get a star… not untill you show some kindness!”
The kid hugged sun. “My mom says your a stupid old robot whos only task is to tape me off her hands but I think your a smart young robot. A stupid old robot would not realize were all mean”. Sun patted the kid on the head. “Aww thanks! Here you do get a gold star cuz I don’t have platinum stars…” sun gave them a gold sticker. “Ten bucks and this star is yours!” Sun snatched it back and grabbed the rope hook and used it to raise himself up to his room.
Yn was very very mad. “Look at y’all you don’t even know what love is you made him cry! Are you proud of yourselves”? The kids looked at their feet and looked sorry. “If your truly sorry you gotta go and apologize to him!” “But he’s way up there!” “Hmm. Each of you make a NICE paper airplane card and I have to read it before you send it.”
The kids sat down at the tables and got buisy. Hey really did look sorry. Yn read them and folded the first one and chucked it up there it sailed into the curtains. An orange hand reached out and picked it up. More kids delivered letters to yn. Yn was starting to get hope in the kids again. They handed a letter back to a kid. “try again”.
More letters sailed up to Sunny’s room. He came out with tears in his eyes. “You really mean all of this? “ the kids gatheeed in a big group. “WERE SORRY MR SUN” sundrop fell into the ball pit and went over to hug them all. “I forgive you all, dewdrops! Just try to me a little kinder ok.”
Rudi: I mean, if you want to put your baby for adoption, I think it’s wonderful. But like...you straight up asked a random influencer in her DMs if she wants the kid. I don’t think that’s how it works. Might even be illegal. Akva: Yeah, she accused me of making fun of her situation and then she blocked me... Daniele: I mean, I can see why. Rudi: Look, we’re gonna help you find a nice adoption agency and you’ll find a great family for the baby. Nowadays, you can even stay in contact with the adoptive parents so it’s not like you’ll never see the baby again. Dawud: I told you, my pilot friend was adopted, so if you wanna talk to someone who was adopted and turned out fine, I can hook you up with him. Rudi: My dad was a pilot, like, before he died. Dawud: Uh, that’s odd, cause my dad was an airplane engineer. Daniele: Did he died by having sex with a horse? Dawud: Wh-Wh-Wh-What are you talking about? Like what the actual fuck are you...WHAT??? Akva: Also, what made you think that’s an appropriate thing to say? Daniele: Oh so I see you...Do you know the story of...It was a weird viral shock video back in the days...I say that as if I’m not the second youngest here. But like... Dawud: I am aware of that video, still, what the fuck Dan?
As Dawud was seriously reconsidering his crush on Daniele, he asked Akva when her next free time is. She was working that afternoon, but the next day, she ended up once again at the café a block away, this time with Dawud and Ralf.
Akva: So you were adopted. Ralf: Mh-mh. I was born in the western most point of the USSR, in what is now modern day Ukraine. I don’t know exactly when I was put up for adoption, but I do know I was adopted at three months old, since I still had my birth certificate. My birth name was Rafayl Borysenko if I recall correctly. I don’t really know how my parents pulled it off, but they were East German so maybe it was easier if you were from another Eastern Bloc country to get a baby in the Soviet Union.  Akva: Have you ever wondered who your real parents were? Ralf: Yes, and shortly after getting married, I tried finding who my birth mom was, especially since my adoptive parents were...not great, and I wanted to reconnect with my heritage now that I had my own kids. I managed to trace her back, only to learn she passed away when I was around five years old. After that, I gave up.  Akva: Oh wow, I’m so sorry for that. But what do you mean that your adoptive parents weren’t great? Ralf: Well, it was very obvious they only adopted me because they were expected to have a kid, not because they actually wanted one. As to make this worse, even though my mom had been told she couldn’t conceive, she ended up having twins out of nowhere when I was seven. After that, it was game over for me. They never said it to my face, but I could tell they didn’t love me as much as their biological kids and I was a nuisance to them. It was like being orphaned all over again, except this time I was old enough to remember. Akva: B-But you ended up fine in the end, right? Ralf: Oh yes, of course I did uh...I think you can tell. But it was a hard road to get there. As a teenagers I got in a bunch of relationships just to feel loved, only to sabotage all of them. My logic was that they couldn’t abandon me if I did it first. I had stopped that by the time I met my wife though. Now I am fine and happy uh...Don’t worry about me ok. Just...be careful which family you pick.
Now visibly uncomfortable, Ralf stood up and left the café without saying goodbye, great. Dawud tried to stop him, but it was too late. As for Akva, she stayed sat there, now terrified of what would happen to her baby. Hopefully Ralf’s story is an outlier...
Jersey
The other day someone asked what’s the vibe of New Jersey?
 I couldn’t answer it properly. Being from there and running away as soon as I graduated Highschool marks me moving out almost 16 years ago. It was so hard as a teenager.
   My single dad had two jobs and didn’t know how to be domestic. What so ever. He was trying; and it really counted to have a parent stick around no matter how difficult everything around him was. We had to help him and slowly he learned how to use a crockpot, iron, and go buy me tampons because I was too embarrassed the day I got my period.
   He’s polish & czech. The two most unemotional cultures I’ve ever seen. But they’re solid. And show love through god, smiles, their openness, and food & probably beer.
    Those were my parents. Night and Day, Hot and Cold, Loud and quiet. For sure Filipino and American.
    Other than the quietness of suburban life New Jersey. Growing up with the same people & having nothing to do. Is something I’ve quite missed since I’ve lived in the city this long.  I was a dorky girl back then. Sure I wore Abercrombie and fitch, uggs, and made my parent buy me a northface backpack. Sure I got a name plate that my dad was so resistant to buying me. I of course got tips on my nails, but gladly never did it again,because I couldn’t open my locker.
    The best thing that happened from sp was that I have friends in my life I’ve known since kindergarten.
    We don’t have a bar, you have to get Asian food in Edison, and most people that are my age have more than one child. Not all just most.
    Unfortunately, I hope it subsided but there are the cool kids. Kids who’s parents let them have parties in their houses. They’re cool and do drugs. But some of the cool kids don’t come back from it, a very much a sad road.
     You are your friends’ and it’s a small town where you can really choose your destiny by choosing them. I was friends with everyone. So I almost went down so many wrong paths. Atleast I weened it out and found the right ones before getting out.
    You’re insecure. Especially when your mom just died and you’re trying to be the perfect daughter because you want so badly for things to be normal. You have ADHD and getting good grades is a nightmare because you can’t focus enough to study. The only thing you can focus on is watching tv and escaping. So you join volleyball and you’re really terrible but you commit. And even if your team is bad something happens to you when you’re the girl who doesn’t miss one game or practice. So I really thank that, my smart friends, and leaving because at that moment in my life I was going through so much pain I needed to try my best to forget and create a good life.
    But for this vibe, if I’m gonna be positive. I had a beautiful large house and was near all my family, I went to school on tax dollars and did sports, I had air quality and pleasures of doing nothing, you have room to look up at the sky and watch airplanes or see the moon, there are hikes, and to be honest, I could only have a different bond with people from NJ. Because for me who else could understand me better? But there are traits they have that need to subside. Which will probably only happen through getting out of jersey. Even if it’s just once in a while.
My father rarely gave out his autograph, because he said I am not a celebrity and I did not design the SR 71. But he did in this case, but the really cool thing is that Ben Rich, his boss signed it “Harry thank you for the tips on designing!!” ‘’What great guys the two of them were.” ( Yes, they were)
I was working at Dulles airport a few days after the SR71 ceremony and was returning to the control tower where I work as a Supervisor, Air Traffic Controller. Standing at the elevator at the base of the tower was a man and woman. I asked if I could help them and your dad said he was curious if they could get a tour of the control tower. He added he was involved with the retirement ceremonies for the SR71. I was more than happy to give them a tour and we spent about an hour discussing different aspects of controlling traffic at our facility. During our conversations I mentioned the SR71 was my favorite airplane and how nice and exciting it was to witness the arrival as well as being involved in all the coordination leading up to the landing.
Your dad was looking at one of our operational positions when your mom walked over to me and in a low voice said, “He used to fly SR71’s”. I was dumbfounded and couldn’t believe I was talking to an SR71 pilot. We spent a good amount of time talking about Habu and how the ceremonies went. He then asked if we liked the tie pins we received, adding there were tie pins on the SR71 for each controller in the facility. I told him we hadn’t and he then pulled out of his jacket a brick (future cell phone) and called someone to inquire about the pins. This was before cell phones and it was very impressive.
As the tour was wrapping up you dad gave me his business card and invited me downtown D.C. for a tour of his office and facility. Only after he left did I read the card and see he was Director of Skunk works! I eventually made it to his office and he showered me with trinkets of aviation stuff and a signed stealth fighter (F117) artist drawing. He then told me I could get VIP tickets to a Space Shuttle launch if I was interested. Long story short, I was and I did. Prior to leaving his office I showed him a poster I received which commemorated the 25th anniversary of the SR71. I asked for his signature, and he graciously signed the poster.
A few months later your dad called me and said Ben Rich was coming to Washington, D.C. to receive the Collier trophy and asked if I’d like to meet him in the airport terminal. I did and your dad added, bring your poster! We met Ben at the terminal after he got off the airplane and we talked a little about aviation. I then asked if I could get his signature on my SR71 poster, and he too graciously agreed. He starts to write something but stops and asks what I would prefer he write. I jokingly replied, “Harry, thanks for all the tips on the design”. He did and then signed his signature.
I’ve had the poster framed since your dad and Ben signed it and it also includes an American Flag I received, which was on the SR71 flight when it flew from California to the east coast. I’ve cherished the experience, and luck, of meeting your mom, dad and Ben Rich. Coworkers and friends are impressed when they see the poster and hear my retelling of the story. One of the luckiest days of my life.
I’m sorry for the loss of your father. He was an incredible pioneer that would take the time to talk to someone like me, an aviation enthusiast. I am forever grateful for his generosity.
Respectfully,
Harry Bergmann
my little girl isn’t so little anymore
I literally thought I had posted this on Halloween but apparently I did, oops here it is now
October 30 2022 7:00 am
mick was at the kitchen table looking at old pictures of him and his daughter when she was little, he couldn’t believe she would be thirty three tomorrow and he felt like time was moving too fast. As he looked through them he came across a picture of him and his wife when she was pregnant with star and felt tears come to his eyes, his wife never got to know the beautiful women there daughter grew up to be and often wonder if she would be proud of the way he raised her. Sure she was the road a lot and in school when they weren’t touring but he sometimes wondered if he had done a good job.
he felt hands on his back and a kiss on his cheek, “baby how long have you be up seraina said siting down in the chair and taking his hand in hers, “not long I guess I woke up at five and couldn’t sleep so I decided to grab some pictures to look through, “is this star mom she said picking up the picture and looking at it. She had hear stories from the guys and mick about how wonderful she was and she could totally tell star took after her mom. “Yep that’s charlotte, “my gosh she’s beautiful just like her mother she said with a smile on her face.
she come into mick and star life when the girl was seventeen and boy she sure was giving hell, star had seen her dad with women before who treated him like dirt except one and she didn’t want the same thing to happen again, while seraina admired how well star was protecting her dad the women assured the young teenager that she didn’t plan to hurt her dad. It wasn’t until star got pregnant with there first grandchild that she finely come around. “I see where star gets her looks from’ “but she has my talent to pick up a guitar and play it but I see a lot of her mom in her.
“what’s really bothering you honey she said to her husband because she could see there was something else then just reminding star mom, “my baby will be thirty three tomorrow and I just can’t help but feel like time slip away. “This crap I got made it hard for me to do the things I would see other dads do with there kids, “like the airplanes or throwing them up in the air. “I felt guilty because she had to be a grown up at a young age and take care of me when I couldn’t get out of bed, “honey it isn’t your fault this happen, “she had a happy childhood because she told me the best memories she made was helping you seraina said feeling like there was nothing she could do.
mick love his kids and especially love star to the end of the earth but she knew that deep down inside he felt this way because he couldn’t give her a normal life and that along broke her heart, “you know she loves you and would do it over again if she could right honey, “she only tells people that she enjoyed it because she doesn’t want to hurt my feelings and all the times she couldn’t hang with her friends or normal things was because of me mick said with tears falling down his eyes, seraina sit down and rubbed her hands up and down his back trying to sooth him.
star walked up to her dad’s house and let herself in, “anybody home she said holding the baby carrier that held her eight day daughter as he hear her coo at the things around her. Star walked into the kitchen to see pictures laying on the kitchen table and walk over to look at them, she saw her as a kid and she saw her as a kid and one picture caught her eye and she picked it up. It was a pic of her mom and dad standing outside the California church that they got married smiling. It brought tears to her eyes because just three years later her dad’s world would be ripped apart. “Star we didn’t hear you come in she heard and turned to see her stepmother standing in the kitchen.
“I knocked and when I did hear anybody I thought y’all may be in the studio she said as she sit the baby carrier down and saw her stepmother bend down to grab the baby from the Carrie and begin to the baby girl kisses. “Is dad in the studio star said watching her baby girl coo at her grandmother, “yes but he isn’t in a cheery mood right now especially after looking at the pics. “I thought so she said walking out into the backyard and across the yard to the building that held her dad’s studio.
meanwhile in the studio mick sit holding onto the one pic they made him smile but also cry, that was the pic of him holding his newborn daughter and his bandmates standing around him which brought tears to his eyes, despite losing his wife he gained a daughter and he realized his bandmates stepping in to help him rise his daughter was something he couldn’t repay his bandmates.
“Dad you in here he heard and quickly wiped his tears and turned toward his daughter, "Hi baby girl I didn't know you was comming over today he said as he stood up and give her a hug before sitting back down in the chair as she sit next to him. "I wanted to spend time with my dad and I brought Salam since mikko is working and the kids are at school. "My gosh you look like you didn't just have a baby eight days ago honey he said amazed that after each child she bounced back to her normal weight each time,
“i know Mikko said the same thing lol, “so I saw the pics on the table and know it brought up painful memories but do you want to tell me please she said hoping her dad would open up about what was bothering him, “it’s really nothing just your turning thirty three tomorrow and you given me six beautiful grandchildren and it’s just unreal that my little girl grew up so fast in the blink of the a eye. “Dad I will always be your little girl regardless of how old I am you know that right and I know you feel guilty about me growing up but dad we already talk about this, “taking care of you was amazing because I got to learn so much and you weren’t robbbed of things you couldn’t do.
“So what’s really going on dad because this is more then just me turning thirty three, "it just your not mu little girl anymore and I just wish I could have done better. "Don't be silly daddy i'm still am your little girl regardless of how old i am or get and as far wishing you could have done better dad you did an amazing job considering what happen to mom and you did what you could with the help of my uncles.
"I think I turned out pretty damn good so please stop worrying that you mess up or screwed up because you didn't I promise star said Leaning to give Her dad a hug and a kiss, "now what say we go back to the house so you can see your nearest Granddaughter hun dad starcssid helping him to his feet as they walked back to the house.
Star spent the whole day over just spending time with her dad and headed home later that day to get ready for her birthday.
Oct 31 2022 8:00 am.
Mikko rolled over and looked at his wife who was peaceful and thought how lucky he was, his wife was turning thirty three and looked she was still in her 20s making him smile and lean over to give her a kiss on the cheek and heard her moan and saw her grey eyes open, "happy birthday baby he said Leaning in again to give her a kiss on the lips. "I feel old star said looking at her husband and saw him smile.
"No baby you still look like your twenty three mikko said giving her another kiss, "it's quiet where are the kids Star said looking Round because usually ensley come rusning In. Vince come by to grab the kids this morning so we could spend the day together he said geting up out of bed, "now why don't we talk a shower together and enjoy each other company while we have it mikko said pulling his wife by the hand into the bathroom.
Oct 31 2022 8:30 am
"My gosh mikko said panting as he held his wife breathing heavily after a intense love making session, "just like when we first meet star said as they both brust into laugher at the thought. After drying off and puting clothes on they headed downstairs where mikko made her breakfast and they spent the next three hours talking about there love and how far they came from there first meeting.
Oct 31 2022 10:00 am
Star sat quietly in the car as they rode over to her dad hosue making mikko worry because his wife is never quiet, "Baby you quiet over there is everything ok he said grabbing his wife hand and squeezing it tightly. "Yes just thinking of the conversation I had with My dad yesterday has be thinking about it is all star said looking back out thr window.
"What happen yesterday mikko said knowing his father-in-law wasn't a man of many words, "he just seem to heartbroken and devastated at the thought that he screwed up raising me but he didn't, "sure I wasn't able to do most things as a kid but that wasn't his fault. "He did a great job with what was throw at him and I just wish he would see that.
"I'm sure does baby but look at his point of view, "he seen how the other dads were with there kids and him having ankylosing spondylitis he feels like he wasn't able to be like a normal dad and he feels guilty mikko said to his wife as he focus on the road. "But he was a normal dad I mean we did things all the time and sure it was aways when he was feeling good but I still had a happy childhood.
"Yes baby but in mick mind he didn't give you a normal childhood and he feels like he messed up because he wasn't able to lift you up or swing you around like he saw the other s dad doing and probably feels guilty that he wasn't able to do that. "But that doesn't matter to me mikko, "what matters is that I was loved and cared for and that Is all that matters to me.
"I'm going to try and talk to him when I get there and hopefully make him see that I didn't need fancy things In life I just needed him, "speaking of which why has nobody responded to my text messages that I sent star said looking to her husband who had a straight face that was hard to tell wither or not he had something planned.
"I don't know baby maybe there just busy or they could be having phone issues, "at the exact same time I doubt it so spill what's really going on baby star said looking back to her husband. "Nothing sweetheart like I told before I left the houses I needed to run se errands and then I needed to run by your dad's place no biggie mikko said wishing she would drop it.
Trying to surprise his wife was a tough job especially since the women was so suspicious of everything which made it extremely hard to catch her off guard so the fact that they manged to planned a birthday party without her knowing says a lot. "Here we are mikko said as they pulled into the front yard, geting out they both walked up to the door and walked in.
"Why Are all the lights off for star said truning the lights on and hearing eveybod6 hollering surprised making the women jumped in shocked, "oh my gosh baby is this the reason why you be acting uptight for she said turning to punch him in the arm. "Yes honey I needed to not let you know because your extremely hard to try and surprise he said giving her a kiss.
"Mommy mommy happy birthday ensley said giving her a big hug before rushing off to play with ruby who was just as delighted to see her, "happy birthday mom she heard her boys said as they give her a hug and headed off. They all walked Into the kitchen and eat lunch. After a while star walked off to try and find her dad hoping to talk to him, "dad can we talk she said comming behind him and placing her hand on his back.
"Sure he said walking off with her into a room and shutting the door, as they sat down star reached out and grabbed her dad's hand and held it for a while. "Dad I now you feel like you wasn't a normal dad to me because you couldn't lift me up or you couldn't do this or that truth is that didn't matter to me.
"I had a fun childhood regardless of how I grew up and I am proud that I was able to help you because not many people get that chance and I want you to know that what matter to me is that you loved me and cared for me even through you had some good and bad days. "But star i..., "no dad you were a normal dad and sure I had to cook and help you around the house but dad I choose to do it because I was in awe of you.
"Loseing mom and having to raise me on your own is something most people wouldn't be able to do especially somebody in your job so please know that I had a happy childhood. Mick had tears In his eyes listening to his daughter, for so long he felt guilty for not giving her the life she deseve but hearing her say that she had a happy childhood made him happy.
"Oh Starry Eye you have no ideal how much that means to me because for the longest time i have regretted that I didn't give you a normal childhood but hearing you and knowing that I still give you a normal childhood makes me better. "But I still can't belive your thirty three and still look Iike your a teenager how do you do it, "honesty I don't know but I know I have best father in the and the best mother who is looking down on us she said as she leant in to give him a kiss on the cheek.
"Now what say you and Me go back outside and enjoyed the party because I'm pretty sure that I hear your Granddaughter asking about cake she said making them both laugh as they walked back outside.
As they enjoyed the rest of the part mick stood back and watched his daughter face light up and knew no matter what she would aways be the apple of his eye but now his two granddaughters are a close run. From that day on mick knew that he did a good job and thanked his wife above for the help he had.
Captain Na Jaemin -n.jaemin
Tumblr media
Pairing: pilot! Jaemin x fem reader
Warnings: fluff, smut, passionate sex, slow burn, tensions, language, kissing, moaning, fingering, receiving, giving, mentions of cum. It’s a cute love story overall.
Word counts: 7.6k (It’s a lot but bare with me loves)
Summary: Meeting someone at the airport once doesn’t mean anything but meeting them twice, that’s just fate. You didn’t expect the pilot who helped you or become something more. After all, he met your parents. What’s next?
Tumblr media
“Hello? Yeah, I just got off,” you spoke on the phone. You went to claim the baggage area. “You’re going to be late? Haein, you are always late!” You groan irritatedly on the phone.
“I know I’m sorry, mom is making food and dad kept rambling on about the fish she caught” she explains. You rolled your eyes. “Fine, just be safe and don’t rush,” you told your younger sister. You hung up the phone and waited for your luggage.
As you waited, you were growing impatient because you kept seeing everyone claiming their baggage and you were the only one left.
“Where’s my luggage?!” You mutter under your breath. You watch someone claim the last baggage. You groan and realized they must’ve lost your baggage.
This always happens whenever you travel back to Seoul. They always lose your baggage or it was in a different area. You huff and decide to find customer service.
As you were searching in your bag for your ID and paperwork, you accidentally bump into someone and all of your items fell out of your bag.
“I’m so sorry” you apologize as you kneel and retrieve your stuff. The person tried to help you too.
You look up meeting a pair of gorgeous brown eyes and a very chiseled jawline. His beauty caught your eyes. “It’s alright, are you okay?” He asks a smile spreading his face.
You blink your eyes a few times before resuming you pick up the last thing. “Yes I’m alright” you laugh nervously. You both stand up as he handed you your purse.
He was wearing a uniform, that similar uniform you’ve seen pilots wear.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking. They lost my baggage and now I’m trying to get things straight” you told him his frustration.
“Oh wow, did you need help? I can show you where the guest services are?” He insists. You felt bad, he’s probably tired from his flights.
“I’ll be fine, you probably had a long flight. I wouldn’t want to intrude on you” your fingertips brushed against his as you take your bag from him.
“It’s alright, I have time” he checks his watch before looking back at you. You couldn’t say no, “if you insist, thank you” you smile as he led the way.
You followed behind him, watching his back view mainly. With his honey brown hair, his fit body, the way he walks, even from the back he looks cute.
He held the door open for you and let you enter. You had told the lady your situation as he stands on the side, waiting for you.
“We’re very sorry for the inconvenience ma’am, there must’ve been a mistake. There was an accident with the baggage handler, they must’ve been mixed your bags up. It went on a different airplane” she explains.
“Where is it now?” You tried not to show your annoyance. “Japan.” She responded.
“Japan?!” You exclaim. You glance at the guy and quickly cleared your throat. “How long will it take them to deliver to me?” You ask.
She types something on her computer, “in two days” she looks apologetic. You sigh, at least you’ll be staying with your parents so it’s okay.
“That’s fine,” you told her. She had told you she’ll make sure she’ll hold onto your information and will call you as soon as it arrives.
He had to walk you out of the room, you laugh nervously, trying to play it cool. “I’m sorry to take your time, I’ll be fine now. Please, you should get going and rest” you told him.
The guy chuckles as he put his hand inside his pocket, fuck he’s so hot.
“Alrighty, I hope you’ll get your luggage back” he smiles at you again. You tried to hold in your breath at how gorgeous he looked.
“Thank you again” you smile at him.
“You’re welcome, have a good day” with that he left. You scream internally as you watch him leave. You forgot to ask for his name, it was your last time seeing him.
“Where’s all your stuff?” Your sister asks as she looks around, looking for your luggage. You groan.
“They lost it again?!” She yelled. You shake your head no, “there’s an accident. I don’t feel like explaining, let’s go!” You yelled irritatedly at your sister.
She took your carry-on and put it in the bag seat while you settled yourself in the front.
Jaemin had seen you coming out of the terminal, he was putting his luggage away in his car. He watches you greeting someone and telling her what had happened.
He notice how irritated you looked, he laughs to himself because you were probably holding it in. He closes his trunk and gets in his car. He looks at his rearview mirror to watch your leave.
A smile spread his face.
“That pilot sounded nice, at least he helped you,” your mom said. You agreed.
“Do you like this pilot?” Your dad asks as he was narrowing his eyes at you. You hit your dad gently, “don’t be funny. I don’t even him, plus I did bump into him. I felt bad if I turn down his assistance” you explain to him.
Your dad wasn’t buying it. “Anyways, do you want to see the fish I caught today?” Your dad asks happily as he pulls out his phone.
Your mom and younger sister exchange groans, making you laugh.
A few days went by, you went back to the airport to get your suitcase. They had contacted you earlier saying they receive it. You made your way to guest service as they made you sign the paperwork and you finally get your luggage back.
Happily, you walk out with your bag. “Um, hello!” You heard a man’s voice speak. You look up from your phone to see Jaemin again. Your eyes widen, you didn’t expect to see him again. He notice you got your luggage back.
“Um, hi!” You smile back at him. He pointed at your luggage, “you got your stuff back!” He said. You nodded. You look down at his outfit, “did you just come back from somewhere?” You ask.
He shrug, “Yes from London” he nodded. Your mouth forms an O. “Oh wow, I bet you had a long flight” you laugh nervously.
“It was so and so” He chuckles. You nodded. “I-I’ll let you carry on. It was nice meeting you” you smile at him. He smiles back before watching you leave.
As you waited outside for your sister to arrive, you were growing impatient. “Where could she be to make her always be late?” you mutter to yourself after checking your phone for the 5th time.
“Did you need a ride?” You look up, noticing Jaemin pull up in front of you. You laugh nervously. “I’m just waiting on my sister” you showed him your phone.
“Come in, I’ll give you a ride” He suggests. You look down at your feet and then up at him, “I don’t want to trouble you. You’re probably tired after that long flight” you told him. He shakes his head no, “it’s fine. It’s the least I could do” He said. You bit your lips and look to your left to check if your sister had pulled up. You then nodded.
Jaemin got out of the car and ran to your side. He helped you with your luggage, “I could’ve done it, it was heavy” you said quietly. Jaemin put it in his trunk. He then smiles at you, “you got it” you chuckle. He opens the door for you as you shyly get into the car.
He ran to the driver's side and buckle himself in. “Where do you live?” He asks. You had told him your address, he ended up chuckling.
“That’s funny, I live near there,” He said. You gasp and nodded. “I’ve never seen you around” you look outside your window.
“I’m barely home. It’s traveling season so I only come home for sometime before going coming back” He explains. You nodded, “you’re a busy man, I see” he nodded.
“It’s not that bad, I get to see new places” he smiles. The two of you talked in the car, it was mainly about him traveling. It feels so weird seeing him for the second time in a week.
“Thank you again,” you stand by his driver’s side. Jaemin look at your family’s restaurant and nodded. “My name is Jaemin” he put his hand out from the window for you to shake. You’ve always wanted to know his name.
“Y/n” you shake his hand. You felt electricity spark as you touch his hand. Jaemin smiles as you before you let go of his hand. “I hope to see you again, y/n” he calls your name. The way it smoothly came out of his mouth, felt so refreshing.
“I hope you have a good rest before your next flight” you smile. Jaemin thank you before you both wave goodbye. You watch his car drive away and soon disappear.
“Honey, you’re back? Where’s Haein?” Your mom asks as she wipes her hands on her apron.
“I could ask you the same question” you sat down. Your mom looks at you confusingly, “she didn’t pick you up?” She asks.
“No! She never responds to my text!” You said frustratingly. Your mom looks at your dad. “Does she have a boyfriend that I don’t know of?” You ask.
“Even if she does we didn’t know,” your dad said. You all exchanged looks before the customer came in. You quickly roll your luggage to your room before helping your parents out with their store.
The night was coming, people come in and out. It’s a Saturday night, usually, it’s busy but you weren’t sure why there’s no one coming in.
The door slides open as you greet the customer. “Jaemin?” You call out his name. Your dad’s head pop to the side. He looks at you before following your eyes onto the guy.
“Y/n, hi” he waves. You clean your hands and made your way up to him. He looks even more handsome without his pilot uniform. He looks more comfortable in jeans and a sweater.
“What are you doing here?” You chuckle. “I wanted to try out the food here” he smiles. “I saw it earlier when I drop you off and got hungry so I came here” he smiles at you.
Both of you look at each other before the silence is cut off by your parents. “Earlier? Did he drop you off earlier?” You can tell your mom was curious from her tone.
“Oh, sorry. This is Jaemin, he helped me out with my lost luggage the other day. He happened to be at the airport today too and drop me off since Haein wasn’t picking up her phone” you explain to your parents.
Your mom touch her heart, you know she was already liking the guy. Your dad, on the other hand, was glaring at Jaemin. Your mom mentions he to sit down.
“I’ll fix you up with our best meal here,” your mom said. She hurried back to the kitchen as you glance at Jaemin. You both laugh shyly before his eyes land on your dad.
“Dad! Stop staring!” You said quietly. He didn’t listen. “So why are you near my daughter?” He crosses his arms together.
Jaemin chuckles, “it’s part of my duty to help anyone I come across of. Your daughter happens to be one of them” he smiles, taking a sip of his drink.
“Hmm, what’s your job?” Your dad was curious. “Dad!” You whispered his name again.
“I’m a pilot actually” he smiles. Your dad unfold his arms and nodded. “Do they pay you good?” He asks.
Before you could hit your dad, your mom came and hit him for you. Your dad jumped. “Honey! You’re putting the poor kid in the spotlight! Stop it!” Your mom hiss at her husband. She put the bowl of warm soup in front of him.
Your mom smiles before sitting down in front of Jaemin. “So you’re a pilot? That’s amazing! You must’ve traveled a lot” your mom said. Jaemin chuckled and nodded.
“Thank you for helping my daughter, I’m glad she met someone like you” your hand rubs your back. You mutter something at her but she shrugs it off. They all watch Jaemin take a bite of the noodles.
Jaemin who was shy gently take a sip of the soup before his eyes widen, “wow! This is amazing!” He couldn’t believe the flavorful spoon of the broth got him to melt.
“Of course it is, my wife is an excellent cooker” your dad brag. You rolled your eyes.
“Thank you so much for dinner, it was the best home-cooked meal I’ve had in a while” Jaemin pats his stomach. Your mom smiles as she touches her heart.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it. If you live nearby, make sure you come as often. I would love to cook for you again” your mom said. Your dad glance at her and then back at Jaemin.
“Honey, do you still love me? From the way you look at him seems like our marriage is at stake” your dad said in a serious tone. Your mom hisses at him before hitting his back. “Don’t talk like that, honey, see him out for us” your mom said. You nodded.
You both made your way outside, you look around for his car. “Did you not drive?” You ask. Jaemin shook his head no.
“It’s nice weather today so I thought I’d walk” he smiles. You nodded.
“Thank you for coming, it means a lot for my mom. She rarely sees me with friends and it made her day knowing that you know me” you smile as you both walk quietly in the empty street.
“Do you now have friends?” He asks. You shake your head no. “I like to keep myself busy and don’t bother finding friends. I have my sister and my dad. They’re practically like my friend” you chuckle.
Jaemin also laughs, “your dad, he’s very funny” Jaemin scratches his head. You rolled your eyes and nodded. “I hope he didn’t make you uncomfortable, I know he was a lot” you rub your arms.
Suddenly, the evening air started to get cold. “Are you cold?” He asks. You look at him and shake your head no.
“I’m fine” you chuckle. Jaemin didn’t take that as a no. He pull over his purple hoodie and handed it to you.
“Oh no! You’ll be cold” you push his hands back. Jaemin chuckles, “then you’ll get sick. You have an important job, I’d be sad if you ever miss it” you look down at the sweater before back at him.
“My place is just up the street, please. Wear it” he begs you. You bit your lip before taking his sweater. You look at him as he waits patiently for you to put on.
Your body temperature went up quickly, feeling how warm the sweater was on you. You could even smell his musky cologne. Jaemin smiles when feel content seeing you in his hoodie.
“I think your dad is a good person. I wish to have a father like him. The way he cared for his daughter is truly remarkable” he said. You chuckle and nodded.
“His favorite thing in the world are his two daughters, whom he adored so much. Not a day goes by without him calling me three times a day to check on me” you laugh. Jaemin nodded.
“Do you now live here?” He asks. You shake your head no. “I live in Australia at the moment. My job requires a lot of traveling. I was stationed in Australia for a year now” you explain to him.
“What is it that you do?” He asks as you both find your way to the park and sat down at the benches.
“I’m a consultant, my company requires me to travel to wherever they want me to be” you nodded. Jaemin mouth ‘wow’.
“That’s amazing actually” he was amazed. “Now I know why your dad kept you close beside him” he chuckles.
“Yes, you’re right” you agreed with him. You both ended up laughing. Your eyes wander down to his arms, watching the goosebump from the cold evening form on his arms.
“Are you cold? I could give your sweater back” you suggest. Jaemin stop your hands from pulling the sweater over.
The way your body froze at his touch. Jaemin’s eyes look down at yours. You both hold your gaze at each other.
“You don’t have to do that,” he said, quietly. Jaemin retracted his hands back. You suddenly can move again.
“I should let you go back home then, I don’t want to keep you out here for too long” Jaemin rubs his palms on his jeans. You cleared your throat and nodded.
“Thank you again, I had an amazing time with your family. Send them my regards” Jaemin stands up. He gave you a small wave before walking away.
You look down at the oversized sweater you’re wearing, “wait-“ you look up. Jaemin was gone. A smile creeps up your face before laughing to yourself.
You went back to your parent's house and did your night routine. After getting out of the bathroom, you watch how neatly you folded Jaemin’s sweater.
Your fingers ran over them before picking them up to smell them. Your eyes flutter shut as you smell his fragrance.
A week had passed, you haven’t seen Jaemin. Every time the restaurant door opened, your head would snap to check if it was him. When it was just a customer you would look down.
You have grown fond of his presence. You wished to see him one more time or many more times as matter of fact.
To keep your mind off him, you would focus on your job and try to run your mom’s restaurant. Your mom knows you’re working hard to keep your mind off of him. She also felt sad for you.
A soft knock on your door before your mom came in. Your eyes look up at your mom from your computer screen, “hi” you smile at her before looking back down at the screen.
She sat on the edge of your bed, “you’ve been keeping yourself busy, is there a reason why?” She asks.
You scoff, “I may be on vacation but I still have work to do” you chuckle. Your mom smiles before she gently shut your computer screen.
“Is it because of Jaemin?” She asks. You sigh and put the computer on the table beside you.
“I just wanted to see him one more time” you admit. Your mom nodded.
“Do you like him?” She asks quietly. You shrug. You weren’t sure. You just met the guy and he even met your family, but from the way the two of you were talking, it felt right.
It’s like you can talk to him for hours without feeling shy. The way he touched you, you felt sparks all over your body, which you never felt before.
“I don’t know what I’m feeling” you rest your head on your knees. Your mom nodded, she knows what you feeling but she rather let you solve it yourself.
The next day, you got a call from your boss. He asked you to come back for two days since there’s an accident with your worker. You have to take his place for those two days before they find a replacement.
“Honey, please be safe! Come back in one piece” your mom rubs her hands on your back. You nodded as you went to hug your dad who was balling out crying.
“Dad, stop it” you groan. He nodded and try to stop crying. “I love you,” you told them before you get in the car. Having driven you to the airport. You hug your sister goodbye before you made your way to your terminal.
When you get inside the airplane, you had to put on your earphones because you don’t like your ears getting clogged from the air pressure. Little did you know, with the music blasting in your ears the pilot had made an announcement.
Jaemin was the pilot.
Throughout the flight, there was a lot of turbulence and you were feeling very nauseous. You were getting irritated and took out your earphones. You had asked the person you sat next to what’s wrong but they do not know.
At the moment, the plane is reaching the Philippines. Then, the sign to put your seatbelts turned on and the plate starts to shake more.
A lot of people started getting distressed. You close your eyes and prayed to not die today. “This is your captain speaking, we are experiencing turbulence. There’s a hurricane coming by so all flights have to make a stop at Ninoy Airport. Please be patient” the captain said.
You tried to look outside the window as dark clouds begin to form. To what it seems like hours, you had finally landed. You had message your boss that there’s a problem which he understands due to the hurricane passing air trail is at the moment.
As you waited by the entrance, you tried to find a hotel nearby but nothing seems to be working. You weren’t sure what to do and you surely do not want to be in the airport with the hurricane coming by.
“Y/n?” You turn around to meet Jaemin again. You gasp when you saw. You wanted to run up to him to hug him but you know that would be weird.
“J-Jaemin” you stutter his name. He smiles at you and starts walking up to you. “What are you doing here?” He chuckles. He starting to think meeting you at the airports is like fate.
“I was on the plane going to Australia, my boss had called me in to work” you explain. “We’re you in that flight 256?” He asks. You nodded.
“I was the captain!” He laughs. You gasp, “I had to put on my earphones at the beginning of the flight. I didn’t hear your announcement,” you told him, looking down at your shoes.
“That’s okay, are you going to wait at the airport?” He asks, looking around. You look down at your phone and nodded, “I couldn’t get a hotel on time so I thought I’d stick around” you hold your bag tighter.
“We’re not sure how long this hurricane will pass, d-do you want to rest at the hotel we’re staying in?” He suggests. Your eyes practically widen. “Are you sure?” You ask. Jaemin nodded.
“I’d rather have you stay with me to know that you’re safe than let you out of my sight” he looks down at his shoes shyly. You search your head and nodded. “Thank you” you smile shyly. He took you to his taxi cab as they drove the two of you to the hotel he was staying in.
“Are you sure you can just have anyone over?” You ask as you wait for him to open the room door.
“Of course, but you’re the first person I do this for” he admits. You purse your lips. Jaemin unlocks the door and leads the two of you inside.
The hotel was warm and cozy. Sadly, there’s only one bed. Jaemin left his suitcase by the door. “We also get free food so if you want anything you can just call” he pointed at the menu and the phone on the table.
You nodded. You place your stuff on the study desk. Jaemin sat on the couch by the window. You both look at the dark sky setting outside.
“Let’s just hope this isn’t a big storm,” Jaemin said quietly. Which you have to agree. You both stare at the window.
An hour went past, the two of you sat quietly in the quiet hotel room. Jaemin had showered and so did you. You were working quietly on your work to pass some time. The storm had begun, moaning of the winds sounds very scary. The rain plastering against the window filled the quiet room.
Jaemin was reading some paper from work, for some reason his company made you feel less lonely during this storm. The doorbell rang as the two of you turn to look at each other. “I ordered food, let’s eat” He smiles as he went up to get the door. The room service pulls in a cart full of delicious food. Your mouth gets watery when you saw all the food.
You sat next to Jaemin on the couch as you both ate in silence. Out of the blue, Jaemin started laughing. “What?” You ask, wondering if you’re chewing too loudly.
“I think it’s funny that we keep running up to each other at the airport” he laughs. You relax after hearing him say that, you thought it was your loud chewing.
“I think so too. It feels like,” you look at him. “Fate,” you both said in unison. The two of you stare at each other for what it feels like minutes. You broke the eye contact as you chuckle softly.
You both continue to eat in silence. After eating, you continue to work. It was already 10 pm. You were getting tired but still, continue to work. Jaemin had fallen asleep already so you tried to keep quiet. If you weren’t this busy, you could’ve spent more time talking to Jaemin and catching up after not seeing him for a while.
Jaemin woke up around midnight, the thunder woke him up from his sleep. He reaches for a bottle of water and begins drinking it. The room was dark but only the desk lamp was turned on. Jaemin noticed you fell asleep on the desk, working. He felt bad and didn’t want you to catch a cold. He stands up and walks up to you.
He kneel beside you as he couldn’t help but watch you sleep. He moves his hand to remove the strand of hair out of your face. When he got to see your face fully, a smile formed on his face. “Let’s get you in bed, okay?” He said quietly. He gently places your arms around his neck and pick you up bridal style and gently drops you on the bed.
You hum on the bed as he covers your body with the duvet. “Jaemin?” You open your eyes slightly but were still half asleep. Jaemin looks down at you, “Yeah?” He answered. You pat the space next to you, “stay with me?” You said in your sleep. Jaemin chuckles but he nodded eventually.
Jaemin gets under the sheets and watches you sleep. After not seeing you for a week, all he was thinking about was you. Even when he’s so far away from you, all he thinks about is you. He missed your presence. He doesn’t know what makes him so attracted to you. He just knows that he thinks about you all the time ever since the first encounter you both had.
You shifted your position, your body wrap around Jaemin unknowingly. Jaemin gulped when he felt your arms wrap around his waist. He looks down at your sleeping face which was rested on his shoulder. Jaemin finally started breathing again after holding his breath in. He gently wraps his arms around your body and closes his eyes. You groan in your sleep and hug him tighter. Jaemin opens his eyes again as his heart beats quicker.
Arriving in Australia, Jaemin gets to rest for two days. You had waited by the front gate of the airport, waiting for your cab. “Jaemin!” You called his name when you saw him. Jaemin eyes found yours as he went up to you.
“Are you going straight to work?” He asks. You shake your head no, “they’re letting me stay in for a day after my flight, what about you?” you ask, wondering how long he’s staying here for.
“I’m on stand-by. So I’m staying here until they tell me when my next flight is” he says. You nodded. You bit your lips before taking the courage to ask him, “Um, do you want to come to my place?” You look up at Jaemin. Jaemin heart flutter again.
“If you don’t want to, it’s fine” you quickly add. Jaemin laughs, “I would love to” he smiles. Your eyes sparkle when he said that. The way your heart beats so fast, it could explode any time. “I can’t wait for you to meet Loki” you smile as you start walking.
“Loki?” He asks. You turn around and nodded.
When you arrive at the house, everything was still the same as you left it. Jaemin enter the cozy home, his eyes wander around. “This is my company’s house. They let their travel workers stay at this place until the next one moves in” you explain as you drop your bag in your room.
Meow.
You kneel as the cat ran up to you to greet you. You smile brightly after not seeing Loki for a few weeks, “this is Loki” you smile. Jaemin eyes widen and kneel beside you to let him sniff his hand before letting Jaemin pat him.
“He likes you” you surprise, “It took me a while to get him to like me” you laugh.
“Is this your cat?” He asks. You shake your head no, “I’m not sure who’s cat it was, there’s a lot of people living here before I came. So we all just take care of this cat until the next person shows up” you explain. Jaemin nodded, Loki ended up laying on the floor letting Jaemin pat him.
“You can take a look around, I have to work. If you need anything, it’s an open kitchen. Feel free to use it” you smile at him Jaemin looks up at you from Loki and nodded. You went into the study room and continue working.
Nightfall came, Jaemin was sitting in the living room, changed as Loki sleep beside him. You yawn as you step into the living room. Jaemin send you a small wave before sitting down beside him. “Did you eat?” You whispered. He shakes his head, you gasp. “Are you hungry? I feel so bad, I’m too busy and you didn’t get to eat” you stand up but Jaemin grasps your wrist. You look down at his hand around your wrist and back at him, “can you stay beside me for a bit?” He asks.
You gulp and nodded. You sat beside him quietly as you both watch the show he was watching. You weren’t sure why he ask you to sit beside him but you didn’t question it. Jaemin head felt heavy as he rests it on your shoulder. Your eyes widen. Your eyes move to look at him who had his eyes closed. You made sure not to move to wake him up.
“It feels good to have you beside me,” He said quietly. Your heart flutter. Jaemin lifts his head to look at you. His eyes darted down at your lips before focusing on your eyes again. You weren’t sure what to say but you know you felt the same.
The next day went by, you went to work. You were scared to leave Jaemin home alone so you tried to focus on your job so you can leave early to meet him at your place. Time went by after a few meetings with clients. When you step outside, it was already nightfall. You groan at yourself when it’s started to rain.
“Are you serious?” You hiss. You look down at your bag and hold it over your head. You start to walk but then you don’t feel any rain anymore. You look up to see a black umbrella hovering over you. You look at the hand as your eyes met Jaemin’s.
“Hi” He smiles. You were so happy to see him. “You didn’t bring an umbrella so I thought to stop by and wait for you” he explains. Your heart begins to beat faster. Butterflies start to fly around in your stomach. You weren’t sure if the way he looks at the moment or his kind gesture. He made you feel some type of way.
He wraps his arm around your shoulder, he smiles down at you before you both begin to run back to your place. Luckily, it was just a few blocks away. When you arrive at your place, the both of you were laughing at how embarrassing it was running through puddles.
Your entryway was too small as Jaemin missed the step. You tried to catch him before he fell but you ended up falling too. On top of him. Your lips accidentally pressed against his. Your eyes met his. It took you some time to realize your lips were on his. You gasp and quickly got up. Jaemin stayed on the ground, eyes widening. He was trying to understand what just happened.
“I’m sorry, I tried to catch you” you try to explain. The sound of your voice made Jaemin snap back to reality. He stands up and dusts his clothes off. “I-it’s okay” he stutters. You both didn’t look at each other. The two of you went separate ways after, you lock yourself in your room, your heart beating for fast your hand touch your lips. The memory of you kissing him flooded your brain.
You went to take a shower to ease your nerves. That night you couldn’t sleep. The thought of Jaemin filled your head and prevent you to sleep. You felt hot all of the sudden and remove the cover off you. Your hand touches your lips again, thinking about how much you want to kiss him again.
As you begin to have the wildest thought, your hand ran down to your body and touch your heart. Your breath hitched, feeling your sensitive cunt. You close your eyes and begin to rub your clit, with Jaemin filling your thoughts. You begin to rub yourself aggressively, feeling the sensation all over your body. A moan escape your lips as you finally came.
Even after your heated moment, you still wanted more. You bit your lip and got up from your bed. You pace yourself in your room before finally building the courage to find your way to Jaemin’s room. You twist your doorknob, to only find Jaemin standing in front of your door. His arm was up to knock on your door but you had already opened it.
Everything was quiet, the two of you stand in front of each other, staring into one another. “I-“ Jaemin tried to talk but you slam your lips against his. He wraps his arms around your waist and picks you up without leaving your lips.
Jaemin gently places you down on the bed, your lips left him as he looks down at you. “I-I want you, Jaemin” You whispered. Jaemin nodded before he sit up to take his shirt off. You take yours off too. Jaemin looks at your body hungrily as his hand gently massages your breasts. You close your eyes at his touch, letting a moan escape your lips. Jaemin leans down to leave a trail of kisses on your chest, gently sucking your tit before making his way down to your heated area.
Jaemin takes off the shirt you were wearing and kisses your inner thigh. His eyes look up at you as he slowly makes his kisses to your fold. You moan loudly as your head fell backward. Jaemin tongue lick over your folds as your back arches from his warm tongue.
“Hmm” you moan, your eyes flutter open, and look down at Jaemin. Jaemin’s eyes stare into yours as he continues to give you pleasure. His hand finds its way up to massage your breast. Your hands landed over his and help him to make you feel good.
His tongue starts to lick in a circle over your clit, earning loud moans from your mouth. “Feels so good” you groan. Jaemin breath heavily before sucking on your clit. His lips left your wet area, making you look down at what he was doing. He takes off his pants and starts to pump his already throbbing cock. You gasp at his size.
Jaemin’s eyes stare into yours as he inserts two fingers inside of your hole. He pumps his finger up and down in your hole as you hold your legs. You bit your lips, watching his eyes the whole time. “Fuck” you cried as the quiet room begin to fill the sound of your wet cunt.
Jaemin’s lips find yours again as he passionately kisses your lips. Jaemin rests his forehead on yours as he continues to pump his fingers inside of you. Jaemin then removes his fingers and rubs his cock over your folds. The two of you watch the way his cock ran over your folds. You whimper, Jaemin eyes look back at yours before sending you a gentle smile.
“If you need me to stop, let me know” he whispered. You nodded. Jaemin slowly inserts his tip, letting your body adjust to his length. You moan loudly as he inserts his cock all the way in, earning a moan from Jaemin too.
Jaemin props his arms beside your head and hovers his head over yours. “You’re doing so good” he whispered. You nodded as he slowed to pick up his pace. Jaemin breathing gets heavier.
Your fingers tangle into his blonde locks as he continues with his steady pace. “Fuck” you moan. Jaemin’s insert his tongue inside of your mouth as you battle your tongue against his. “You’re so tight” he moans against your lips. He moves back to watch you as he fuck your hole.
Your thumb caresses his cheeks as he picks up his pace. Your hands fall to the sides as you take a handful of the sheet into your fist. Jaemin sits up as he holds your thigh down against your chest. Your eyes wander down to your toned body. Jaemin eyes stare at your tits as they bounce up and down with every thrust he takes.
“You’re so beautiful” He praises you, his hand massaging your breast again. A moan escape your lips from the amount of pleasure he was giving. “I can feel you so deep” you moan. Jaemin nodded, “you’re taking it so well, baby” he whispered. You groan, your heart races when he calls you baby. A tear escapes your eye as it rolls down to your cheek. You were overwhelmed at how he was fucking you so good.
Jaemin leans down to place a gentle kiss on your lips as his hips stop rocking. “Don’t cry baby, don’t cry” he whispered as he kiss your cheek. He got up, making you stand up in front of him. His cock pokes at your stomach as you lean in to kiss his lips. Your hands wander down and begin to stroke his cock. Jaemin’s breath hitches, feeling your small hand holding his sensitive cock.
You trail the kiss down to his neck to his chest, your eyes stayed on him the whole time before you place a gentle kiss on his tip. Jaemin groaned when he felt your lips on his cock. You kneel in front of him, stroking his cock in your hands. Jaemin head tilts backward as you take his change to wrap your lips around his cock.
“F-fuck” he groans. You spit on his cock before wrapping your lips around his cock again. You begin to move your head back and forth as you make his cock wet. Jaemin looks down at the way your lips wrap around his cock, making him feel good. He ran his thumb across your cheek before putting his hand on the back of your head.
He then moves his hips slowly with your pace. “This feels so good” he moans. Jaemin picks up his pace, liking the feeling you’re giving him. “Fuck” he curses again before making you take his cock whole inside your mouth. You felt his tip hit the back of your throat, tears rolled down your eyes. You remove his cock from your mouth as you stroke his cock with your hands.
Jaemin eyes flutter open as he saw you smiling at you. Jaemin chuckles as he helps wipe the saliva off your chin. Jaemin kneels in front of you, “You’re hot” his eyes look down at your lips and then your eyes. Jaemin lay down on the bed and make you get on top of him. You face the opposite way from him. Jaemin reinserts his cock inside of you, making the two of you moan loudly.
Jaemin’s hands ran down your spine as his eyes rested on your ass. You put your weight on your hands as you begin to ride his cock. Jaemin hiss as he holds onto your waist. You watch yourself through the mirror in the corner of the room. Your close your eyes as your head tilt backward, you felt his tip hitting your stomach already.
Jaemin snakes his hand to your clit and begins to rub it. It made you lose your pace. Jaemin takes over as he moves his hip faster under you. “Fuck, Jaemin, fuck!” You moan loudly. You rub your clit as he went faster. You clench your walls around his cock, earning a loud moan from Jaemin’s mouth.
“Fuck, turn around” he demands. You listen to him and turn your body around. Jaemin leans in to kiss your lips and pull you on his chest. He holds your body tightly as he fuck you hard. The whole bed begins to shake and the headboard bang on the wall. You grasp on the sheet the whole time and kept clenching your walls around him.
“Fuck, fuck, you’re making me cum” you told him. Jaemin hiss, “fuck, I’m going to cum too!” He groans. You felt his grip tighten on your waist as you sit up and begin to ride him in a circle. Jaemin eyes flutter shut, feeling your walls around his cock, “fuckk” his body jerk as he helps you ride his cock. “Don’t stop” he said. You nodded as you move your hips back at forth.
His hands hold your waist to stop as he came inside of you. “Fuck” he breathed heavily. His body jerked again, his eyes flutter open, and landed on yours. A smile forms on his face as he pulls you down to kiss you a kiss on your temple. You rested against his chest until one of you get up to get a rag.
A month had passed, you came into your mom’s restaurant with Jaemin. You had told your parents that you and Jaemin begin dating after you both came back from Australia. Your dad didn’t approve of it but he warm up his heart to Jaemin. Your mom always knew Jaemin was the one for you, she was really happy when you both confirm the relationship. Your sister was too busy with her boyfriend to care.
All those times she went missing, she was spending it with her boyfriend. You all had met her boyfriend, he’s very loud. As long as he’s good to your sister, it doesn’t concern you. Your mom was happy that both her kids finally met someone that they both are into. Your dad spends a lot of time hanging out with Jaemin and Haein’s boyfriend, Haechan.
“Hi, mom!” You went to hug your mom after a few weeks of not seeing her. She went in to hug you. Your dad pulls Jaemin for a hug because he hasn’t seen him in a while. For some reason, Jaemin starting to like fishing now. Your dad influenced him too early.
“Y/n!” Your sister called your name as she came out of the kitchen. You hug everyone. Haechan was also here, he got a job at your mom’s restaurant but of course, your mom is not paying him because he’s family.
“When is the next fishing trip?” Jaemin asks your dad. All the women look at the men, you watch your dad blushing, “we can go tomorrow” your dad begins laughing.
“Oh god, look at the” your mom scoffed. You pat Jaemin’s back and tell him to sit beside you. All of you take a seat, “we have something to tell you!” You excitedly look at Jaemin and then at everyone else.
Your mom gasped, “are you pregnant?” She asks. She started cheering and ended up crying. “No! No” Jaemin shakes his head. You laugh and take his hand into yours. Your mom stops crying and waits for you both to talk.
“Jaemin ask if I could move in with him” you smile as Jaemin squeezes your hand. You both look at your parents, “oh, that’s good” your mom seems to not care. She just wants grandchildren from her daughter.
“Y/n! That good!” Your sister praises you. “Thank you Haein!” You laugh. Haechan gave Jaemin a high five. “Does that mean you’ll be living down the street?” Your dad asks.
Jaemin nodded, “I’ll visit every day then” Your dad clap his hands. You and Jaemin look at each other.
Your mom begins to ramble on about having grandkids already, while your dad continues to talk about the fish he caught yesterday. Haein and Haechan were yelling at each other about him not asking her to move in with him. The whole restaurant begins to fill with everyone talking all at once. Jaemin lean into your ears, “maybe we should give your mom a grandkid?” He asks. You hiss at him.
“We’re busy, it can wait,” you told him. Jaemin chuckles before leaning to kiss your temple.
It’s going to be a long ass ride.
UGH there is NOTHING more frustrating than trying to research ADHD, it’s all “do you interrupt people a lot? do you find it hard to sit still?” and “boys are twice as likely to have ADHD than girls” and “here’s how to deal with your ADHD child” and there’s nothing about adults, nothing about underdiagnosis in women, nothing about RSD, dyscalculia, sensory processing, emotional regulation
i am not a little boy pretending to be an airplane in the back of the classroom. I was never allowed to be, because I was a little girl. i was a little girl who couldn’t sit still but i had to because ladies sit still while the boys shout and fidget in the background. i was a little girl who got left behind when recess ended because i was so engrossed in my small rock garden i didn’t hear the bell; i was a little girl who grew up smart enough to take precalculus, but couldn’t for the life of me remember my times tables; i was a little girl who got so angry and didn’t know how to stop it (“you can control your emotions!” my dad told me; “don’t bottle it up,” my mom said; “scream into a pillow, write it down, take deep breaths” everyone told me, and none of it helped); i was a little girl who lay awake every night terrified i’d forgotten to do something due tomorrow; i was a little girl who couldn’t make friends because socializing was hell because if i made one wrong move, received one negative response, i might as well have set myself on fire; i was a little girl who took pride in being the Weird Girl, because i had to; i was a little girl with adhd
and now i’m an adult woman with adhd, and i know that because of people on tumblr, not because of the DSM-V. The DSM-V and the CDC tell me little boys have ADHD, not little girls. they tell me if i don’t interrupt people (don’t interrupt people, that’s rude, being rude means hurt hurt hurt because of RSD and nice young ladies aren’t rude anyway) and finish assigned tasks (don’t forget don’t forget don’t forget if you forget they’ll hate you) i don’t have the inattentive component; and they tell me if i can sit still (what kind of organs do snails have, anyway? let’s research that for four hours) and avoid butting into people’s space (don’t be rude, don’t be RUDE) i don’t have the hyperactive component; and they only ever mean to talk to parents of little ADHD boys, and there is nothing, nothing, nothing meant for me.
a styles vacation to Hawaii
Summary: a little continuation of this family. The styles take a vacation to Hawaii with mild bumps in the road.
a/n: no warnings, but harry is not famous in this. I’ve never been to Hawaii and do not much of the hawaiian attire/culture, i just did research and put what i found. If there’s any misconceptions or if i’ve offended anyone by accident pls lmk!
Pairings: Dad, Husband!Harry
“Honey, you have to let go so we’re not late for the plane” Harry grunts, trying to stealthily pull Ava away from her hold on Milo.
“No! We can’t leave Mimi” she cries out, cuddling her face into the pup’s fur even more.
“Mimi has to stay with nan, honey” From his tone you can tell he’s losing patience.
It’s a definite eyesore. The whole situation takes place on your mother's porch. You were all meant to say your goodbyes before the three of you–– no Milo–– go off on a small vacation to Hawaii.
Ava is holding on to the australian shepherd, not letting up one bit. You would think she glued herself onto him without anyone knowing, with how she latched on.
Milo in front of your mother's feet, enjoying what he thinks is a hug it seems. Only letting out long whines when Ava's sobs get out of control.
Harry is standing behind Ava, bent at the wait trying to pry her off her best friend.
You're crouched beside her, a hand on her back, trying to convince her to let go.
Ava's poor grandmother stands in the doorway. A look of agony on her face as she watches it all go down.
The–– now three year old–– has been throwing a hissy fit in the car, holding onto Milo's paw. Ever since Harry informed her how they were going to her nan's house to drop off Milo and then hurry to the plane. She saw the news like a terrible taste in her mouth, while she stared at you both in the rearview mirror eyes widened.
You know how much the two love each other, but you didn't expect her to throw a fit like this.
“Ava I know you’re upset but, you gotta let go honey so Mimi can have fun with grandma. Don’t you want to go on the airplane, hm? Weren’t you excited about it?” You ask her, beginning to unclasp one hand and go for the other, trying to bring into your arms.
But with quickness, she remembered the only way she would be able to go on this vacation. Without Milo, she wraps her arms around Milo again.
“Baby, Milo has to stay. Dog’s aren’t allowed in Hawaii” At this moment, Harry is willing to try anything.
“They’re not?” she asks, tilting her head back a little to see her father’s face.
“Nope, Milo won’t have fun there. He’ll have more fun with Nana” he tells her, bringing his thumbs down to wipe away the tears.
“...I wanna stay with Mimi!”
Milo doesn’t eject this idea, letting his chin rest on her small shoulder. You and Harry huff in frustration, glancing at each other. Your mother...well she’s had enough of whatever foolishness you and H are pulling right now.
“Okay enough of this” your mother starts, gaining everyone’s attention. “Ava, honeybee, Tell Milo and your grandma see you later and let go of him so you can have fun on your trip with your parents.” She says this with a stern, yet loving tone. Down to business and nothing else.
“Yes nana” she mumbles, placing a few kisses to Milo’s cheek and glides to your mom.
You and Harry look at each other in an instant, eyes wide at the way your mother fixed the problem in less than a minute. A mutual look of what the fuck, as in the what the fuck were you possibly doing wrong.
“Thanks mum.” Harry says sheepish, looking at the calming little one swaying in your mother’s arms.
“Yeah thanks mom” you say, standing up straight.
“No problem, Now get going, before she fusses again”
You all exchange your see you laters. Ava has yet another sweet moment with Milo. While Harry tells her she won't be staying in Hawaii forever and Milo won't stay with Nana forever. As you're driving away you all wave at the two, Ava yelling to Milo.
“Bye Mimi! See you soon! Don’t chase a squirrel when I’m gone!” She yells out the window, her arm waving in the wind.
You and Harry share a chuckle. Despite what she may think, Milo has never chased a squirrel in his life. She's watched it once on a cartoon and it somehow filled her heard with the imaginary scenario.
When both her grandmother and bestfriend are out of sight, she turns her head to the other window. A solemn look on her face, looking out the window like the Kermit the Frog meme.
You play the Frozen 2 soundtrack for the less pouty girl behind you. But when you don't hear the shrill sound of her singing, you look behind you to see an upset look upon her cherub face.
Her bottom lip is juts out, her hands fisted and arms crossed.
“You okay?” you ask her, turning in your seat to cradle her knee.
She’s dressed cutesy in a matching sweat set and a cute beanie rested over her plaits.
“No. I’m upset and I wanna yell” she looks at you, resting her case, before she turns her head back to its original spot.
Harry peeks at the interaction through the rear view mirror; an eyebrow quirked. One hand on the wheel while the other takes its natural spot in your lap, your fingers tangled with his.
“Why are you upset?” you ask.
“Because…” she groans, trying to figure out her ‘big feelings’. “You left Mimi and now he’ll hate me”
“He won’t hate you, you’re his favorite person”
“You guys don’t love me either!” She whines, glaring out the window. Wigging in her spot, causing your hand to fall from her knee.
“That’s not true! We love you” you exclaim, in a loving manner.
“Then get Mimi”
“Mimi is staying with grandma Ava, enough.” Harry’s voice catches her attention immediately. “ It's okay to be upset but Hawaii doesn’t accept dogs, remember?”
She only huffs, dropping her hands from her chest.
“Can you play the when I am older song, please mommy?” she almost whispers.
You accept her request, turning so you’re seated right. Playing the song and hearing her sing eases your glazed stare a bit. Releasing a breath and closing your eyes as you rest your head against the window adds a bit to your release.
Harry raises the entangled hands away from your lap, placing an adored kiss to the back of your hand. Sending a quick questioning look your way.
“I’m fine” you send back, in a smile. No mother wants to hear those words.
He can’t do much with him driving and with Ava in the car. So he places a kiss to the back of your hand once more, and extends his hand so he caresses the back of your neck.
“You’re doing a great job, stop being so hard on yourself” he encourages.
If your mom was here she’d give you a tip or two on how you and Harry are too soft on Ava. You couldn’t help leaving all the disciplining to Harry, you probably were definitely too soft on her at times.
-
Through all the pouting, belting of kid songs, and Harry's annoying jokes and teasing. Five hours later you've made it to the resort.
At the moment, Harry was checking you both in while you and Ava looked around the gift shop. When you feel someone’s arm come around your shoulder, you jump. But the feeling of his cold rings and brings you down.
“Scared me, don’t do that” a breath of relief follows as you tilt your head back onto his shoulder. He gets the memo immediately, leaning down for a peck to the lips.
“Made a friend in the lobby.” He tells you like nothing. Eyes shifting at his little girl looking through the stuffed animals and keychains.
“Are you okay?” you ask in disbelief.
“What?” he laughs, one eyebrow perched.
“Like in the head”
“I’m not following…”
“Why are you so good at making friends with strangers this easily? Seriously.”
He laughs you off like it’s nothing, but it’s uncomic. You wish you could blame it on being shy, but compared to Harry it was not that easy for you to chat up strangers enough that you become acquaintances.
Your husband could make friends with a duck if he wanted to. Everywhere you went. Whether in the ice cream shop a few miles away at home or the park where you took Ava all the time .He was always chatting with someone, in the end pulling you in.
He only laughs it off, beyond doubt enjoying the look on your face. “We agreed to save each other a seat at the Luau tonight, for whoever gets there first. Talked to the husband actually, but you’ll see”
“You’re insane” you tease him.
“Can I have this?” A teal, stuffed sea turtle is thrusts in the direction of you and Harry.
“How do we ask nicely” you say.
“Can I get this?” she smiles, a smile so sweet, your tooth hurts from looking at it. She’s the most adorable thing and knows exactly how to use it to her advantage.
“My sweet little baby.” Harry crooned, advancing to her, lifting her into his tattooed arms. Placing a series of kisses to her plump cheeks. She giggles, never wanting the affection to stop. “You can have it,” he tells her. “Let’s go to the till.”
“Harry you didn’t even check the price” you chimed in.
“Shh. We’re having a moment” he acknowledged. He outstretches his arm, so his palm meets your face gently. You laugh into it, before you smack his wrist away, then placing a light kiss to his wrist when he whines.
-
It’s some hours later. You’re all getting ready for the hotel’s hosted dinner/Luau tonight. The three of you took a two and a half hour nap.
You were touching up your light makeup while Harry got Ava ready. He lost two rounds of rock-paper-scissors and now must deal with the havoc that is dressing Ava.
“Baby, get the trousers mommy picked out for you” you Harey him tell Ava.
“Trousers?” She says the word with confusion, “Don’t have trousers babe? That’s a silly word.”
Then you hear the raspy laugh of Harry.
“Your pants, get your pants and your top too”
Not even a minute later do you hear Harry asking her to stop wiggling around.
Harry walks in the bathroom, a giggling Ava sat on his hip.
Harry adores a very laid back...dad look you could say. The back of the white wife beater he’s wearing get’s covered by a black button up shirt with flamingos patterned all over it. He’s also wearing  a pair of shorts and his favorite vans.
Ava’s tucked into a set. a cami top with matching flared pants and sunflowers ornamented the black fabric.
“Oooh look at mumma, beautiful huh?” he asks Ava, extending one hand towards you, once you clasp your hands in his, he spins you letting his eyes sink in.
“Yeah!”
“Thank you both” you smile as Harry tugs you in for a swift kiss.
You had picked out an angelic, ivory crochet set. The top you’re wearing shows off your midriff and the long, flowy skirt matches with beautiful lace detailing.
You turn to Ava to give her a kiss on her cheek. “You look so handsome.” you tell Harry, letting your hand run through his hair. “And you look so adorable, you like your outfit?” taking her from Harry’s hands.
“Yeah, I like the flowers–– Can I have some too?” she points to the plethora of makeup products spread over the bathroom counter.
Looking over at Harry for his confirmation, he nods. You take the brush running it over the blush, before brushing it over her chubby cheeks and her nose.
“Tickles,” she laughs, pushing your hand away.
“Are you ladies ready to go?”
-
“Wow! Look the fires!” She points at the lines of tiki torches submerged into the sand, jumping as she sits on your hip.
The layout is stunning. There’s a stage for the performance, round tables spread out everywhere across the beach, and a buffet in the back.
Most of the tables are already filled, albeit the show was to start in like twenty minutes.
“There they are, over there” Harry indicated, his hand waving back at a family of four.
With Harry’s hand settled on your back, he weaved the three of you to the table.
“Hey Shawn.” Harry greeted, their hands clasped together as they brought each other in, clapping each other on the back.
Shawn was a tall man, a few inches taller than Harry, and very built. He had amazing brown skin, clear like a mirror, and was bald––which he pulled off effortlessly.
“This is my wife, y/n and my daughter Ava” he smiled at the two of you, while you shook hands with Shawn and asked Ava to say a hello. Which she did, like bursting a ball of energy as put her hands out for a handshake like she watched her parents do. It caused a laugh out of everyone. She didn’t know why they were laughing at her, but she enjoyed the attention.
“This is my wife Avni” you hugged, as close as you could, with a petite, expecting Indian woman. She was radiant as she smiled at you and Harry. “These are my kids Grey and Aster” you shook hands with them both.
Grey looked about Ava’s age, bouncy coils moving as he bobbed up and down in his seat. His sister, who looked in her tweens, sported the same hair texture. Aster more silent of the two sent her greetings kindly.
“And the third is still cooking in here” he laughed, setting his hands down on Avni’s early protruding belly.
With that joke, you understand exactly how the two of them got to know each other, as Harry joined in with his laugh. The wives chuckled amongst themselves.
“How far along are you?” you solicited.
“Three and a half months” Avni smiled proudly, rubbing both hands around her belly.
You cooed, “It’s amazing, you’re literally glowing. You're making me miss being pregnant” you joke.
“Okay! Enough of that. One little devil is enough.” Harry tickles your side, as a result you jab his side with your elbow gently, as he grins down at you. “We’re gonna go get some food,” he informs the couple.
-
Now everyone’s sitting around the table anticipating for the show to start. Conversation running pretty smoothly. The four of you were even able to make a few plans for the week you are here for. You had gotten a high chair for Ava to sit and eat in, but she wasn’t having it. Failing around while reaching for you.
 In result, she’s now sitting in your lap, bouncing side to side. Munching on her French fries, chicken, and sipping on her pineapple juice.
“Taste good?” Harry asks his toddler.
“Mhm” she hums, shoving her thumb into his face.
“I can tell” he chuckles, extending a napkin to wipe her face clean.
You tilt your head down closer to hers, to see sauce around her mouth, some of it on her cheek even.
“Daddy.”
“Hm, baby?”
“Mimi would like this, he loves the chicken mommy gives me”
“You give Mimi your chicken?”
“No”
You both laugh it off, not seeing the point in correcting her.
“Who’s Mimi”
“Mimi is our dog, he's big and he can talk!” Ava answered, her voice ringing with excitement.
“Dog’s can’t talk!” The high-pitched voice of Grey argued, eye brows pitched together.
“That’s a fib, Mimi talks to me all the time!” she defended.
Thankfully,  the show was beginning, two young women and four young men came out on stage. Dressed in their traditional Hula attire.
You and Avni shared a grateful smile, knowing neither of you would know how to suppress their little spiff.
The dance is mesmerizing and it was nice with the sun almost setting as a background. Light hues of orange shaded the sea as the night took over the rest.  Everyone watched in awh, clapping when it was appropriate. The women’s skirt flowed amongst the air like water.
Harry’s arm propps on the back of your chair. During the performance you feel his fingers run against the back of your neck.
You turn your head towards, trying not to disturb the entranced little girl on your lap. “What?” you mouth.
“It’s beautiful” he whispers to you.
“I know” you tell him, smiling when he rolls his eyes at you.
At some point in the show, the original dancers plus a few more stepped off the stage. An array of Lei’s on their arms, watching as they put Leis around their chosen person’s neck. During this time a woman walks behind Harry, setting one around his neck.
You laugh at the shocked look on his face and the way he fixes his posture. She places a grip onto his arm, making him stand up so she could guide her to the rest of the others. Avni gets chosen too.
The smile on your face makes your face hurt as you watch Harry “dance” up there. The man definitely didn’t have the bet rhythm but he’s having fun and you loved that.
“Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!...” Ava cheered on her father, clapping her hands. Harry looks towards her, waving. She gets even more excited chanting his title louder.
She's Not interrupting anything, you’re surprised he heard her in the first place. But also not, she always knew how to project her voice when needed.
A little over a minute goes by when Ava raises her hand and keeps it up there until you’re able to flag down someone for a lei, which you both get. The both of you walk up to Harry and you set Ava on the ground.
A slight circle forms as you three hold hands together. Just swaying. Sometimes letting go because Harry wanted to spin the two of you. It’s a beautiful image, you're sure. All the glee you could hold in your body transpires in the way you danced with them.
When you’re walking back to your hotel room, your arms are hooked with Harry’s and your head rests on his shoulder. An almost asleep Ava in his arm. He stops to bring his free hand around your neck, pulling you in for a kiss.
“Thank you for giving me this, I love you” he whispers against your lips.
-
Last night, after the dinner and the Hula, Ava had facetimed Nana. To be honest, she had wanted to say a goodnight to Milo, but talking to her grandmother was always a plus. She was still dressed in her outfit, you and Harry getting ready for the night, so you could then focus on her.
She sat up against the headboard, Your giant phone–– compared to her hands–– held in her tiny ones.  You were looking through her duffle bag for her pyjamas when you heard…
“Look Mimi, I saved you chicken”, her small teeth bared, holding up a piece of her chicken from dinner. Your phone is now being propped up against a pillow.
You looked up to watch her pull a piece of chicken from her...pant pocket.
That was the point you reavulated yourself as a parent and had to think about what kind of kid you and Harry were possibly raising.
“Harry!” you called for him.
He walked out, an eyebrow quirked.
“Look.” you hiss, voice low.
‘God…’ Harry thinks. “Where’d she get that chicken from?” he asks, running his towel over his hair.
“Her pocket! Why are you so casual about this?”
“Angel...you had a baby with me, what’d you expect?” he questions, seriously questions you this.
“You’re fixing it then, Mr. mini-me”
-
Presently, you’re all at the beach. Three towels and three umbrellas lay in/on the sand. You’ve rubbed sunscreen on Ava twice now and have had to remind Harry three times. After last time there was no way you’d be rubbing aloe vera on him all night.
“Baby you’re dripping it.” You sigh, reaching over to wipe her chin of the chocolate ice cream she was eating, from a cup you might add. “Do you want me to feed it to you?”
“No, thank you” she replies, kicking her feet out.
You’ve all swam a bit, but now are on a mini break from the water and saw they were selling ice cream close by.
It’s pretty quiet between the three of you, too busy enjoying your treat.
She gasps, “Daddy you’re a fibber” Ava says indifferently, slurping even more of her ice cream from her spoon.
He guffaws, caught off guard from her statement. He shifts towards the two of you. The way the wind blows his hair and the sun makes the green in his eyes even brighter catches you off guard–– the sight of his abs doesn’t hurt either.
You also knew it wouldn’t be long until his hair gained some highlights and his freckles would be more prompt. You couldn’t wait.
“How’m I a fibber, messy?” squinting down at her.
“Look!”she points, “There’s a puppy right there”
There is, you turn your eyes to where her fingers point to see a woman walking a black Dachshund.
Harry turns his head towards him, a sad look on his face. “You’re right baby. I’m a fibber. I’m sorry”
Ava hurls from her seat to latch her arms around his neck, “It’s okay daddy, now Mimi can come next time” she tells him.
If there’s one thing about Ava, it’s how much she hates sadness. Unless it’s from her. Then it’s perfectly okay. She hates sadness so much, she particularly had a dislike for the character from Inside out. Until you had to explain to her how sadness is something that is okay and needed from time to time, Like in the movie.
After her round of affection towards Harry, she emplaces herself into his lap.
“Daddy. Mommy.”
You both hum an answer.
“It looks like a hot dog” she eyes the dog while it trots down the sand.
“It does huh?” Harry answers, brushing her flyaways back. All while you laugh into your palm.
Your hands feel tingly when you wrap it around Harry’s neck, pulling him into you. His head lays against your shoulder.
Definitely a vacation to remember and cherish.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!Reader Warnings: mild swearing, a single parent home, mentions of death (death of a parent & a significant other), mentions of alcohol consumption, and a lil pining, but mainly just FLUFF Word Count: 5.6k Request: anonymous: “I love your Spencer Reid fics! I was wondering if you could write something with Spencer and a single mom reader?? Thanks”
A/N: a very brief summary: spencer is infatuated by his new neighbour, a single mom to a five year old boy who likes to wreak havoc in their shared corridor. also, this one turned out to be a lot A LOT longer than i initially thought it would be but honestly i had so much fun writing this fic, it really could have gone on foreverrrrr ENJOY and as always let me know what you think !
-
For about a week after you moved into the apartment across from his, Spencer wondered what would be an acceptable excuse to go introduce himself.
Having been away on a case those first couple of days, he missed the initial opportunity. Later, his colleagues told him that was enough of a justification. Much later. Too late. Now the moment has passed, and he wondered whether pretending he needed salt or sugar was a good enough pretext. Lame.
He's caught glimpses of you out in the shared hall returning from the grocery store, or by the post box downstairs collecting your mail. Glimpses. Passing fleeting seconds. Never enough time to say hello, however enough to notice you were really beautiful.
Also enough to notice the little boy constantly tugging at your clothes. From what he could see, the resemblance was uncanny. The boy was your son no doubt. And given that Spencer hasn’t seen another adult around, he came to a conclusion you were a single mom.
It was now Saturday morning. Saturday. A day he usually spent grading papers and preparing class materials for the week ahead. And this weekend began no differently.
With a cup of coffee, he sat at his desk and began working away when an odd droning sound caught his attention. Buzzing. Yet it wasn’t mechanical, no. The peculiar hum echoing outside seemed more manmade. Childlike.
Yes, the brunette doctor deducted, the buzzing sounds he was currently hearing were most definitely airplane noises made by a kid.
At first, he decided to pay no attention to what was going on outside his door. He felt bad enough for not going to introduce himself, so he wasn't about to become the mean man from across the hall who gave out about playing children.
After taking a sip of his coffee, he proceeded to bury his head in the papers scattered across his desk. The sound wasn’t too loud meaning it wasn't a big distraction. He could continue to get his work done despite the clatter.
It was then he heard your voice for the first time. The melodic tone drew him in even more than the buzzing echo.
Dropping his pen, he instantly got to his feet and ambled towards the front door - now was his chance.
His hand hovered over the knob, but before he got a chance to do anything, he heard a slam. The noises stopped. Silence once again filled the hall outside.
The hazel-eyed doctor felt slightly foolish. He didn't really know what he wanted to accomplish by springing up so fast. Even if he managed to catch you, what was he going to say? I heard your voice, and wanted to see you. Stupid. You would think he's absolutely clinically insane. I heard you out here, and wanted to finally introduce myself. Better. Although still a little weird.
With a sigh, he sunk back in his seat and continued with his usual Saturday routine. Hoping he would get another chance.
Sunday he heard the buzzing again. Only this time he was walking up the stairs, returning from a late afternoon stroll.
Once he reached his floor he came face to face with the source of the airplane noises currently echoing throughout the building.
Spencer thought the young boy couldn't be more than five. He was wearing a jumper that was clearly too big on him. Probably one of yours, Spencer thought. Arms spread out by his side, the oversized garment covering his hands in full, the kid ran circles up and down the corridor. A wide grin on his face. The hoodie dragging on the floor collecting dustballs.
Mixed with the noises was the sound of your laughter, coming from inside your apartment. The honey-like harmony was like music to Spencer's ears. A small smile crept up on his features; what the hell was going on with him? How could he possibly feel an attraction to someone he’s never met, held a conversation with.
The boy stopped abruptly when he noticed Spencer. His arms fell, and he ran into your apartment. Vanished as if he’d seen a ghost. Although, he must have been waiting, looking out for when the coast was clear again, because as soon as Spencer closed his own door the buzzing resumed.
It continued on for hours.
Having spent time with JJ’s boys, Spencer was no stranger to the amount of energy little kids possessed. Often when playing he would be the one to grow tired first. He would be the one that needed a break while they continued to wreak havoc. Therefore the noises didn't bother him. He went about his evening, subconsciously listening out for your voice.
The next few days were quiet.
Not like he spent a lot of time at home anyway. Between his classes and his unpredictable work hours with the FBI, he only went back to his apartment to sleep. And that was usually really late at night.
Thursday evening, after a surprisingly short day, he was fumbling through his bag in search for his key when the sudden urge to go and finally say hello came over him. He knocked on your door and instantly heard shuffling inside. There was no turning back now.
Soon you were standing in front of him. Subtly, he looked you up and down. His grip on the strap of his bag tightening. Wow, you were even more beautiful than the glimpses he caught.
That came off rather stalker-ish, he took a mental note.
“Hello. Can I help you?” You asked while leaning against the frame, one hand holding the door so not let the brunette stranger see inside.
“Hi, I’m Spencer. I live across the hall.” He introduced himself, examining your face for any sort of reaction. Completely blank. “Can I help you?” You repeated. The brunette doctor was slightly taken aback by your cold shoulder. He pursed his lips into a thin smile. “No. I just wanted to introduce myself and say that if you needed anything-” “Thanks.” You cut him off and closed the door in his face.
Spencer took a step back. That definitely didn’t go as he thought it would. He rationalised your behaviour as a response to his tardiness with regards to greeting you and your son in the building. Although he still couldn’t believe you were so, for lack of a better word, bitchy.
Glancing one last time at your door, he unlocked his own and stepped inside. At least now he could say he tried introducing himself. He tried being the friendly neighbour.
Saturday arrived once again in the blink of an eye. This particular morning, the hazel-eyed doctor had an abundance of papers to grade. He made himself comfortable and got to work.
Unlike last week, when the airplane noises didn't bother him, today he found them to be quite irritating. He would reread the same sentences at least twice before he even began to understand them. Not ideal.
Frustrated, he ran his fingers through his already messy curls and let out a deep sigh. He really needed to concentrate, but he also didn't want to be a dick about it. Possibly making the already tense situation even worse.
Quickly, and rather impulsively, he gathered his things. He put on his shoes, threw his bag over his shoulder, and walked out into the hall.
This time the little boy was sitting on the floor in the middle of the corridor. In his hands he gripped two toy planes, flying them around in the air. The boy looked up at Spencer and smiled, but continued to play. Spencer smiled back while locking his door, and proceeded to make his way down the stairs.
Yes. He felt good about his decision to work somewhere else for the day.
That evening, as he was about to reheat some leftovers, there was a knock on the door. It was faint. So faint in fact he wasn't sure if he heard it at first. For a split second he hesitated, his attention now focused solely on the door. Another knock. Louder this time. He hurried over and opened it to greet the mysterious guest.
You.
Dressed in an oversized band t-shirt, one Spencer didn't recognise, and a pair of biker shorts - all covered in spatters of colourful paint. Your hair was up in a bun with loose strands escaping by your face. Spencer also noticed a yellow paint smudge on your left cheek, and white speckles on your forehead. Despite the dishevelled attire, you looked considerably more relaxed than the day he went to introduce himself.
“I guess I should start off by apologising.” You began in that melodic tone he first heard last week. “When you came by, I was really rude. I'm not usually like that, I swear. It’s just I have a lot on my plate right now. Benny’s grandparents, from his dad’s side, are giving me grief for moving so far away from them. Even though it’s only an extra twenty minute drive. But you know, they are Benny’s grandparents and I love them. They’re family. Anyway, minutes before you knocked I was on the phone with them, again about the same thing, and the conversation put me in a foul mood. Which really isn’t an excuse for the way I acted towards you so, yeah, inexcusable. I’m sorry.”
The hazel-eyed doctor couldn't help but lightly smirk. He’s never met anyone that rambled nearly as much as him. He’s learned more about you in the last ten seconds than he did the whole time you lived across from him.
“Okay. Okay, you’re smiling. That’s a good sign, right?” You brought your hands to your face, gently pressing your fingertips to the corners of your mouth as if to cover the embarrassment you were no doubtly feeling right now. “Because I did actually come here to invite you over for pizza. A truly lame attempt to try show you that I am in fact a good person and not that bitch you met.”
“I love pizza.” Spencer simply stated causing a sigh of relief to escape your lips.
“Great. That’s great.” A warm expression graced your facial features. “Oh, I’m Y/N by the way.” You were about to reach out your hand when you noticed the colourful paint covering your fingers. “Mom life.” You joked, cheeks flushing a soft pink, and let your arms fell back down to your side.
You patiently waited for Spencer to grab his keys and phone before making your way across the hall.
Your apartment was slightly larger than his, two bedrooms, and the decor also couldn’t have been more different to his own. Colourful, vibrant, homey. Those would be the words he’d use to describe what he was witnessing.
In the middle of the living space stood a dark green couch. Draped over it were numerous blankets, hiding underneath them were mismatched throw pillows. On the coffee table lay a stack of books, surrounded by children’s toys. The wall behind the television was decorated from corner to corner with various sized frames. Inside those frames were different movie posters, photos, random prints, and what he speculated was some of Benny’s artwork.
He was in awe as to how fast you managed to make this place feel like your own.
“Make yourself comfortable. I’m gonna quickly wash my hands to try get this pesky paint off, and then we can order food.” With that you disappeared leaving Spencer alone to examine the rest of your place.
His attention was caught by a not so white bedsheet, opposite end of the living space. It was covered in paint. On top of the sheet, stood an old pickle jar that was filled with water. It held numerous brushes. Next to it was a plastic box with tubes of acrylic paint with every colour a person could possibly dream of.
Spencer took a couple of steps towards the bedsheet. He didn't want to seem nosey, he just wanted to get a better look at the currently drying canvases. A distinct pitter of small feet caused him to stand up straight, frozen, as if he was caught doing something illegal.
“A-are, are you the pizza guy?” Benny asked curiously, tilting his little head to one side.
“No uhm, I’m Spencer. I live across the hall.” He explained. “Your mom invited me.” That felt like an important thing to add.
Benny sized him up. His eyes narrowed, lips pursed into a serious pout, nose scrunched. He crossed his little arms as if he was daring Spencer. It was rather silly, this five year old trying to intimidate a grown man, and yet the brunette doctor began to feel nervous. He didn't understand why. He was usually really good with kids.
“Benny, bunny, quit trying to scare our guest.” You returned, grabbing your sons attention and breaking the odd charade. Benny’s gaze traveled to you. “Go do a little clean up of your toys please. I saw those planes your pops bought you in the bathtub. That’s not their place, is it?” Benny shook his head and ran off with a loud chuckle.
You glanced at Spencer and shot him a kind smile.
“Sorry about that. He gets the whole intimidation thing after his dad.” “That’s okay.” Spencer replied. You could tell he was being nice, just like he could tell Benny’s dad was a touchy subject. Spencer wasn’t about to make it worse. It wasn’t his place. And you didn't know him well enough yet to spill the secrets of your past relationship. Therefore, the two of you stood completely still for an awkward second just looking at one another.
“Would you like anything to drink?” You asked, breaking the silence. “We have orange juice, water, or mom juice.” “Mom juice?” Spencer raised an intrigued brow. “Wine.” You explained giggling. Spencer nodded his head with a smile. “I’ll have some mom juice then.” “Good choice.”
As he sat down on the couch, you receded into the kitchen, returning shortly with two plastic cups in hand. “I forgot to ask which you’d prefer, red or white, so I brought a glass of each. Whatever you won’t have, I’ll drink.” You reached out your hands. Spencer took the cup with red wine, his fingers brushing gently against yours in the process. Spark. No, he thought. He was imagining things.
Unknown to the brunette doctor, you felt it too. The blood rushed to your face for a split second as you nervously cleared your throat before taking a sip of your wine.
“You have to forgive the plastic cups. One of Benny’s latest favourite activities is pretending to be an airplane and breaking everything in sight, so I locked all my nicer glassware away.” You explained while elegantly plopping down next to Spencer. “Plastic cups are nice. It’s like a picnic.” God, how dumb. He mentally smacked himself. Idiot.
However, your light giggle indicated you didn’t seem to mind. Your eyes widened a little, and he could have sworn they were glistening. “Well thank you Spencer. You’re the first person to say something nice rather than commenting on my parenting style.”
It was the first time you said his name out loud. And in that melodic tone of yours, it echoed inside his brain like a song. Leaving a permanent mark.
“My mom thinks I need to discipline him more, but no-one ever said it would be this hard alone.” You babbled on, completely oblivious to the silent commotion currently going on inside Spencer’s mind. “Benny’s dad was the bad cop per se, I’m no good at it. My son can cause all the trouble in the world, and still all it would take is for him to look up at me with those bunny eyes and all is good again. Probably because he has his dad’s eyes...” You stopped yourself, and chewed down on your bottom lip.
“Sorry.” You fluttered your lashes at the man sitting next to you. “I’ve been told I talk too much.”
Spencer brought the cup to the brim of his mouth and chuckled. “Don’t be. I’ve been told the exact same thing.” He took a sip of his wine.
“I find that hard to believe. You’ve barely squeezed in four full sentences these last fifteen minutes, while I just go on and on and on.”
“Give it time. I guarantee you’ll be sick of me by the end of the night, and I will never get invited over for pizza again.”
Without thinking, you reached out and placed your hand on his forearm. The air hitched in Spencer’s throat as his eyes briefly traveled down to where you were gently grasping. “Consider this your weekly invite.” You said in a silvery tone and proceeded to give his arm a gentle squeeze.
Just like that, Spencer’s Saturday routine was richer by one more item. Perhaps the most important item on the list. Pizza at the apartment across from his.
Truthfully, it was his favourite time of the week.
During those weekly visits, Spencer quickly learned a lot about you. Where you grew up, any likes and dislikes, hobbies, facts about your family. He learned that you used to teach art at a high school; a job you loved but ultimately decided to leave after you became a single parent. Now, you work at an art gallery only a few blocks from here.
Spencer evened out the scale by sharing his own stories and fables. You were quite surprised to hear about the numerous doctorates he possessed, the work he did, some of the shit he went through, and honestly just how smart he actually was.
Each time you met, you each discovered something new about one another. Something that made you seem even more interesting in the other persons eyes.
Although, an unspoken agreement was in place, the topic of Benny’s dad was off limits. For now.
When Benny got comfortable having Spencer around, the weekly pizza routine evolved into other activities involving you and your son. Movie nights. Walks to the park. Playground visits. Home-cooked dinners at yours. Puzzle afternoons at his. Spencer taught Benny and you magic tricks, while you taught Spencer how to paint.
Soon enough you were exchanging keys and before either of you even realised, six months passed.
Spencer spent Saturday morning preparing class materials for the week ahead, as usual. Through the thin walls he could hear unmistakable airplane noises and patter of feet running up and down the corridor. He smiled to himself. The echo was a pleasant reminder it was only a few hours until he would see you for pizza.
See during these last few months, Spencer fell head over heels for you. He fell hard. The ever present smile on circling your already perfect features when he was around, your honey-like laughter, your lavender scent, the way you were with Benny, the way you always watched the hazel-eyed doctor with such great interest whenever he broke out into an obscure fact.
The more time he spent with you, the more his love grew.
Spencer knew that he could never act on it. If he was a selfish man perhaps, but he wasn’t. He would never put his own needs ahead of your friendship as it wasn’t just you and him in this scenario. He had to consider Benny. What if the relationship went south and he was just another man to break both of your hearts? No. He’d never act on his feelings. There was way too much at stake.
Though he still considered himself lucky. Having a place in your life, being your friend. That’s lucky.
“Right on time as always.” You beamed as Spencer stumbled inside, closing your apartment door behind him. He ambled towards the coach and sat in his now usual spot - the left corner, with you in the right.
“Where’s Benny?” He asked, looking around for the little monster. “Benny is tucked away in his bed. He kindly requested a slice of pizza to be brought to him once it arrives so it’s really just you and me tonight. Hope that’s still okay with you.” “I mean, yeah, I guess that’s fine.” Spencer teased, shrugging his shoulders.
You rolled your eyes at him, but didn't say anything else on the matter. Odd, the brunette doctor thought. You always had a witty comeback. It was one of the many things he loved about you.
“I’m sure you could tell me how many pizza nights we had exactly, so I took the liberty of ordering our food already.” You said with a small smile.
“Thirty-two pizza nights.” Spencer stated simply. You furrowed your brows. “That doesn't right.” “Taking into account every Saturday we spent together, plus pizza on your birthday, Memorial Day, and the other few evenings we didn't feel like cooking, it adds up to thirty-two.”
“Holy shit. Maybe we should start ordering salads.” Spencer chuckled at your response. “Pizza is a lot better.” He pointed out and you couldn't argue with that logic.
Food arrived shortly after. You briskly took two slices over to Benny on a plastic plate, checking up on him in the process. While you were gone Spencer chose a movie. One that you would both equally enjoy.
You sat down again, only this time you sat beside him in what is usually Benny’s spot. Shoulder to shoulder. Spencer froze completely. Thinking if he’d move even an inch, it would scare you off and you’d shift away. You reached for a blanket and draped it over the two of you before glancing up at the hazel-eyed doctor.
“Is this okay?” Contrary to the usual melodic tone of your voice, the question came out quite croaky. Nervous. He met your gaze, losing himself completely in the colour of your eyes, and slowly nodded his head.
He’s thought about kissing you before and always managed to fight the urge. Although, in all the time the two of you spent together he was never situated this close to you. Your face was a mere few inches away from his. Oh fuck.
The moment lasted only about half a second, but to Spencer it felt like time stood still. Honestly, if you hadn’t turned away to start the movie, he probably would have lost the inner battle. He wouldn't have been able to hold himself back. He would have kissed you. Maybe he was a selfish man after all.
Swallowing the growing lump in his throat, Spencer also turned his attention to the tv. Without breaking your eyes from the screen ahead, you handed him a slice of pizza which he took gratefully. The two of you ate in silence. Enjoying the movie, but mainly each other’s presence.
The brunette man couldn't place the exact moment you cuddled yourself up to him. One minute he peeked to ask you a question about something that now seemed unimportant and you were just there, your head resting against his chest.
A smile circled his lips. He could definitely get used to this.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m completely lost.” You mumbled. “And that says a lot considering I’ve seen this movie before. I didn’t understand it then, I still don’t understand it now.”
“If you've seen this before, why did you let me choose it?” Spencer asked. You tilted to look up at him. “Because I thought you’d be able to explain it to me. You know, using that big genius brain of yours.”
Spencer chuckled. He lifted his hand and began to gently caress the top of your head. “What if I tell you my theory and it ruins the movie for you?” He asked, but you waved your hand dismissing his question. “What if you tell me and it improves the movie?”
“That’s a fair point I guess. Okay.” He continued to run his fingers through your hair as he began to explain. “The movie seems confusing because it’s actually reverse order storytelling. It kind of works its way from the end to the beginning through a series of flashbacks and flash-forwards. Therefore, as you’re watching, you get a view into Lenny’s diminishing state of mind.”
You raised a brow. “Are you sure you haven't seen ‘Memento’ before?”
He raised his hands palms up. “I swear this is my first time.” He pledged, corners of his mouth twisting into a smile. “Hmm...” “I’m just extremely observant. Plus you know I love puzzles, and this movie is like one giant puzzle.” He continued.
“Let’s pretend I believe you Spencer.” You said squinting at him, before turning back to look at the tv. The brunette man smirked under his breath. His hand once again tangling itself in your hair.
The sound of a delicate tiptoe approaching the living room caused you to sit up and reach for the remote. Although to Spencer’s surprise you didn't move away from him. Instead, you leaned your body into his side so that if you wanted, you could place your head back on his shoulder.
“Mommy.” Benny muttered. With a little hoist from you, he scrambled into your lap. “Mommy.” “What’s up bunny? Mommy was just finishing a movie, and then I would have come check on you.”
Benny shook his head. He gripped onto the collar of your t-shirt with one hand, the other travelled to your face. He pushed himself into you, angling your head so that he could whisper something in your ear.
Spencer watched as the smile on your face widened at whatever it was Benny said. The young boy pulled away, and waited for your response. “I don’t know kiddo. Would you like me to ask him?” Benny nodded, also now grinning.
“Spencer?” You turned to address the brunette man. “What is your opinion on pillow forts?” He saw the sparkle in your eyes and he couldn't help but smile. “I love pillow forts.”
Within the hour, the living space was completely transformed into a squashy soft kingdom. Benny joyfully screamed that this was the best pillow fort ever as he crawled inside, teddybear in hand.
You nudged Spencer’s arm before staring up at him. “Thank you.” Your eyes locked as your hand slid into his with ease. Fingers instantly intertwining together like magnets.
“We haven't done this since his dad passed. I’ve suggested it many many times, but he uhm, Benny never wanted to.” Pause. The expression on your face dulled. Mouth quivering as you spoke. “Ehm, his dad was a pilot hence my little guys obsession with planes. He died really suddenly nineteen months ago. Benny was so so small. And I don’t really know how much he remembers of his dad, I mean I tell him stories all the time and so do his grandparents, it’s just hard to tell sometimes if uhm... Pillow forts were like their thing, so after his dad I think they were too painful for Benny.”
Spencer gave your hand a gentle squeeze. You were both now standing toe to toe, facing each other fully.
“I guess Benny just needed to feel ready again. Happy even. So what I’m trying to say is, Spencer, thank you. Truly. Thank you for brining joy back into his life.” You hesitated, biting down on your bottom lip.
“Thank you for brining joy back into both of our lives.”
It meant a lot to Spencer that you finally felt comfortable enough to share more details about Benny’s dad. He never wanted to replace the man, he wouldn't dream of it. All he really wanted since the day he met you was to make you a little bit happier, and to hear he was succeeding warmed his heart.
You immediately noticed how his face lit up ever so slightly. A miniature smile circled your lips. “I just hope we didn't obscure your life too much these last few months.”
Using his free hand, he placed the loose strands of your hair behind your ear. Gently caressing your cheek with his thumb in the process. “Are you kidding? There is nothing I would rather be doing. I love spending time with you guys.”
Your eyes sparked with admiration.
“I love our pizza nights, overanalysing different movies with you, listening to Benny’s rendition of ‘In Summer’ from ‘Frozen’. Heck, I love that I now know what ‘Frozen’ is.” You chuckled as he carried on. “I love painting with you, and how you tell me I’ve gotten a lot better at it even though we both know that’s not true. I love that you get a long with my friends. I love that I can take you and Benny over to JJ’s for playdates. Surprisingly, I love playdates. I love how you let me read to Benny when you’re cooking. I love that he loves when I read to him. And of course I love your cooking.”
Tears formed in your eyes, blurring your vision. Tears of happiness. Tears of joy. The man standing in front of you was saying all of the right things, and he didn't even know it. Or maybe he did. You couldn't really tell. The intense emotions circling through your mind right now made it hard to think.
Spencer continued. Now that he started, he couldn't stop. He wanted you to know all of these things. He wanted you to know how he felt.
“I love when we go grocery shopping all together, and how you give out to me for my bad diet habits. I love how that always makes Benny laugh. I love how you framed a photo of the three of us and hung it up on your wall, don’t think I didn't notice. I love building lego sets with Benny. I love how the two of you call me when I’m away on a case to make sure I’m okay and tell me about your day. I love the sound of your voice. I love... I love Benny.”
He paused for a split second.
“And I especially love you.”
Tiny salty droplets trailed down your cheeks as you fluttered your lashes. “You love me?” You asked quietly. Spencer nodded his head. “I do. I’m in love with you Y/N.”
You didn't say anything.
Spencer thought he was done for when you let go of his hand. He thought he ruined it. His nose twitched. His stomach dropped. He was about to apologise, say that if you didn't feel the same way it was definitely more than okay. He just wanted you in his life. But he didn't get a chance too.
Instead, your hand was now holding his face. Your lips attached themselves to his in one breath. He instantly noted how they were softer than he could have ever possibly imagined.
You tasted like coconut chapstick. Like bliss, delight. Instinctively, Spencer’s arm wrapped itself around your waist pulling you as close as humanely possible. He could feel your heart beating in rhythm with his. As your hand tangled itself in his curly hair, he wished this moment could last forever.
When you pulled away breathless, your cheeks were flushed pink. You briefly bit down on your bottom lip before once again meeting Spencer’s inviting gaze - his arm still holding you in a tight embrace.
“Tell me again.” You whispered. Spencer’s lips circled into a warm smile. “I love you.” He declared. You slowly traced along his jawline with your fingertips. A bright bream circling your features. “I love you too Spencer.”
The second those words filled the air, he picked you up by the waist and spun you around. A carefree shriek slipped out from your mouth. He set you down and gently grabbing your face, he hauled you in for another kiss.
“You have no idea how long I have wanted to tell you all of those things.” He muttered against your lips. His stubble grazing your chin.“How long I’ve been wanting to kiss you.” You giggled.
“Maybe one day you can enlighten me, but I think now we better crawl into that fort as it is way too quiet in there. Suspiciously quiet.”
Spencer laughed. “Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.” The two of you broke apart. Hand in hand, you joined Benny inside the pillow kingdom.
The boy was tangled up in a fuzzy blanket, slowly drifting asleep. He cuddled himself up to you the second your back hit the ground. You kissed the top of his head before turning to Spencer.
“Do you want to finish the movie?” You asked quietly.
“It’s okay.” He effortlessly squeezed his arm behind your neck. This allowed you to snuggle in closer and rest against him. “We can just lay here.” “What a perfect plan.”
The smile on your face caused Spencer's heart to skip a beat. He placed a kiss to your temple feeling 100% content.
It was Saturday morning. Saturday. A day Spencer used to spend grading papers and preparing class materials for the week ahead. Now, thanks to the woman sleeping peacefully beside him, his Saturdays looked much different.
Gradually, you stirred next to him. Eyes fluttering open as a yawn escaped your mouth. “Mhmm, good morning.” “Good morning beautiful.”
“How much time do you think we have?” You asked while stretching. “I would say,” Spencer glanced at the imaginary watch on his wrist. “, about five minutes.” He looked down at you and began slowly leaning in. You couldn't help but let out a soft giggle. “Let’s make ‘em count.”
A clatter of fast approaching feet caused you to halt right as your lips were about to touch. Spencer groaned knocking his head back against the wooden headboard.
“Your calculations were a little off Dr. Reid.” You teased sitting up as he ran his fingers through his ruffled hair. He looked at you once again with the kindest smile. You loved that smile.
“My apologies Mrs. Reid.” He pecked your lips just as the door flew open, your kids bursting through.
If You'll Have Me Forever.
an: this is the little fic i decided to write based on a dream i had. I wrote it all in one day while I was at my grandparent's house with no internet or computer, so i wrote it all in my notebook and then typed it up on here haha.
warnings: unedited, mentions of past emotional trauma and unhealthy families
word count: 1.7k
You always loved spending time with Mat's family. Whenever there was a break in the season, you two quickly found yourselves on a plane out to Vancouver, holding hands in the airplane and in the car on the way to his parent's house.
It had been like this since your first summer with them. Mat had invited you home with him for part of the offseason, and although you'd only been dating almost a year and were still nervous to meet his family, you couldn't say no. His family had welcomed you warmly, in fact, warm may not even be good enough to describe it. His parents smiled as soon as they saw you- saw you holding their son's hand, saw him smile proudly as he finally introduced you to them as his girlfriend.
Then, they hugged you.
You hadn't come from a loving family, not one where you openly told each other "I love you" or "I'm proud of you", and certainly not one that hugged and had family game nights. After much discussion with Mat and with your therapist, you came to the conclusion that your family had been borderline emotionally neglectful, and you saw how your childhood had scarred you. Mat's family was so openly affectionate and loving towards you right off the bat that it overwhelmed you, to the point of you going upstairs and refusing to come down until Mat had a talk with you. He was understanding, gently told them to be a little more reserved, and helped to slowly ease you into their love. And that just made you love him even more.
Now, it was your first holiday season with them. After spending a good chunk of last summer in Vancouver, you were certainly excited to spend a few days of your winter here with them rather than in your empty little apartment. You and Mat had flown out the night before, and arrived early in the morning, grateful that the team had managed a few extra days off this season- just enough days to make a trip worth it. The whole day had been spent talking and laughing and just catching up with his family about the past year- how things were going with your studies, with your job, how Mat’s season was going, and how your relationship was going. Later in the evening, after a long round of some board game they’d pulled from the closet, the jet lag and overwhelming, unfamiliar feeling of familial love caught up to you. So, in the middle of preparing some snacks to munch on during the next round of the game, you faked a phone call and quickly excused yourself to the snowy back patio, slipping into your coat and snow boots on the way and disappearing out the door.
Mat had been keeping a close eye on you all night.
He knew how you got about affection, you were even still a little shy receiving love from him, and the last thing he wanted to do was let him or his family overwhelm you again. He had gone to talk with his dad for five minutes- about a topic that had him immediately searching for you to go hide away and get some much needed alone time- and when he came back to the living room, you weren’t where he left you with his mom and sister.
“Where’s (Y/N)?”
“Oh,” his mom looked up from preparing the food. “She stepped out back to take a phone call.”
“Yeah?” Mat snuck over to the backdoor, squinting out into the snow and spotting your figure, no phone in sight. He slipped on a pair of shoes and grabbed his jacket from next to the door. “I think the jetlag might be stting in. I’ll be right back.”
He stepped out onto the back patio, the snow crunching beneath his fluffy slippers. You didn’t even turn when you heard the door close behind him, and that’s how he knew something was wrong.
“Baby… what are you doing out in the cold?” He came up next to you, curling an arm over your shoulders. “Were they too much? Should I tell them to back off a bit?” Finally, you turned to face him. Your eyes were wet and red, but you had a soft little smile on your face. “Aw, baby.”
“I love them so much, Mat.”
“C’mere.” He pulled you against his chest, rubbing his hands up and down your cold arms. You curled your arms around his waist, snuggling in under his winter jacket. “Babe, you should be wearing something heavier out here. I don’t want you getting sick.” Still, you stayed where you were, tucked into his jacket with him and hiding away from the snow and the world. “I’m glad you love my family so much. I hope you can tell they love you too. And if they’re too much, I’ll tell them, okay?”
“I know.”
“Just let me know. I know how you get uncomfortable when you receive this much love, but I hope you know you deserve it, okay? You’re absolutely amazing.” At his words, you lifted your face from the comfort of his chest, eyes red and face hot, streaked with tears. Snowflakes melted on impact, and Mat’s thumb brushed away the wetness. “Please don’t cry, baby.”
“I’m just… so overwhelmed. In the best way possible, I promise.”
“That’s good.”
“And I’m getting sleepy.”
“Jetlag finally catching up to you?” You nodded, burrowing back into the warmth of his jacket. He smiled, squeezing you against him. “Let’s go to bed, yeah, sweetheart?”
“Nooooo, I just wanna stay like this.”
“Okay, okay.” He smiled and lifted his hands in mock surrender. “We’ll stay out here for a little, but we gotta go in when you get cold.” Mat knew the reason you didn’t want to go back inside yet. One, because you didn’t want to cry in front of his family, but also because after spending the whole day with them, you were starved of sweet, gentle moments like this, alone with Mat. He knew you loved his family, but God, how you loved him. You’d been holding back all your hugs and kisses today, keeping low on the PDA in front of his family, and you’d gotten needy. He pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to his parents, saying the two of you were gonna be done for the night and wanted a little alone time, and he knew they’d understand and head to bed. The snow was picking up now, so Mat put his phone back in his pocket and pulled you with him against the wall of the house, your arms tucked under his fuzzy coat and holding tight around his waist, watching the snow fall and enjoying the comforting silence of the world.
“Do you know how much people love you?”
“Mat…” You smiled and hid your face shyly.
“No, do you know? Everyone who meets you falls a little bit in love with you. Everyone. You just have this… this loveable nature to you/ You’re the sweetest, kindest, most amazing person I know.” You didn’t respond, but Mat saw the smile on your face and felt the way your arms squeezed around his torso. “Remember how earlier, I was talking to my dad? You know what he was saying? He said ‘the way you look at (Y/N), that’s how I looked at your mom’. And how he still does.” That got your attention, and you lifted your face to look at him, at the pretty, genuine love in his dark eyes. “Hey, there’s that pretty face!” Your hands slid further up his back, and you perched up on your tiptoes, reaching up for a soft kiss that Mat gladly met you halfway for. “I’m serious when I say I love you, okay?”
“I know.”
“I get that you didn’t have the best relationship with your family, and they weren’t the healthiest, especially when it came to showing these types of emotions, but I’m gonna make sure you get used to it. Cause you’re gonna be in my life for a long, long time.”
“Forever?”
“If you’ll have me forever.”
Everything went silent, save for the soft falling of snow, at that whispered promise. The tears filled your eyes again, just so, so happy that you had someone like Mat in your life, and that he was so understanding and patient with you.
“If you’ll have me forever, my family would be more than happy to call you one of us. You could spend all your birthdays, holidays, and celebrations here, and they’d love you. I’d love you. I do. You’d never feel unloved again, if you’ll have me forever.”
“Mat are... Are you proposing?”
He shook his head quickly. “No. Not yet, not officially. Just take this as a… warning.”
You laughed a little bit. “A warning, Mat?”
“No, ugh… um, how about a promise. Yeah, a promise. A promise that if you’ll have me forever, I’ll do nothing but show you how damn loveable you are. I know I can’t erase the years of pain… God, or the trauma that your family put you through, but I promise you I’m gonna try my hardest. You deserve so much better than what they’d given to you, and I’ll give that to you.” Mat saw the tears in your eyes and swooped down to kiss your cheeks repeatedly. “I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to make you cry, baby.” He could say so, so much more, but he wanted to take care of you first. “Enough of my sappy rambling, yeah? My toes are freezing. Can we go in?” He saw you glance down at his feet and immediately started giggling.
“Nice slippers, grandpa.”
“They’re cozy.” He grinned, happy to see you smiling again. He had grabbed his dad’s shoes to come out, knowing you found his silly dad-fashion funny. “Now, let’s get to bed, sleepyhead.” He pulled you back into the warm, quiet house and led the way up to his bedroom, happy to finally have some time to just cuddle up under the blankets along with you. But as you fell asleep, tucked safely in his arms with a content, peaceful smile, he could fall asleep along with you. Instead, he lay there, watching you for hours, his thoughts filled with his dad’s words from earlier and quietly, secretly, he was writing long lines of phrases he wanted to say to you, phrases that would one day become part of his proposal.
I promise I’ll keep you safe, I promise I’ll keep you smiling and loved... if you’ll have me forever.
