Figuring things out

Before I start a painting I go through these feelings of anxiety and procrastination. I always feel like I’m going to do great but my skills don’t pair up with what I want to produce. I’ve been told that perfection is a joy killer and robs you of your progress.

I remind myself this is just the beginning stages of my practice and I should not judge myself so harshly, maybe because I compare myself to other artist and they are way ahead of me. I wish I was right at their level but everyone has their own journey and I struggle with sitting long enough to figure out the different colors and tones a portrait has. I guess this is why I am so infatuated with pinto g portrait.

Every face has two eyes, one nose and one mouth but also every one has different proportions and that’s what makes painting people so special.

I don’t know if it’s my lack of focus or that I am scared not till getting the colors or vibe wrong. I have this internal struggle to sit and figure this thing out. I don’t understand why I don’t have patience for myself when I have it for everyone else.

I also have to embrace the stages of the piece when they are in progress, there not always pretty but I know it’s on its way to be something great.

I do what’s recommend in class to get the results you want, I mean why mess with the formula. Yet I steer of and then start doing my own entanglements with colors and tools and I guess this is where my signature develops.

I don’t know if it’s been a long day or my mental exhaustion or just the task of my day that make me upset that I don’t have the energy or the focus to paint.

I have to remember that I am doing this sober. I am not drinking or having some nose candy to keep me up and going, coffee only does so much. It does feel good to write about what is going on while I work on a piece, especially if it’s someone I care for. I want my loved ones to be impressed but I’m totally hating this ugly duckling stage of my painting and skills….I just have to keep painting.

I can’t wait to see what my skills produce in 3 months or six months from now…all I know is that I want to master this art and I want to produce portraits of ordinary yet magical moments.

I need to do my stats and paperwork for him still, but meet Boil (Fraact is his real name) and his Toad companion, Pus. Fraact's tribe was killed by adventurers, when he was at the tender age of five. Their homes were burned, and the people ruthlessly killed. The goblin's weren't without their sins, stealing from the nearby town, who hired the adventurers to get rid of the nuisances. Fraact watched as his caretakers were burned alive, his small body allowed him to escape, but not without damage. A good portion of his back and left arm have burn scars on them, and are marred. After he fled, he found his pet Toad, Pus. Naming him after the fluid that leaked from his infected injuries (children are...very creative) and Fraact took on an alias to match his amphibian friend. Now, a year later, Boil and Pus steal from the pockets of the rich. Boil loves shiny, glittery things, and hopes to build a tower of gold so tall that he gets to steal the stars for himself
