May I request a headcannon about Sectoral heterochromia!MC that always hid their eyes with a mask (the one that Gojo wears) and one day they are ready to show their eyes to their lover
W/ Riddle,Azul,Rook,Vil,Lilia
(Their eye colours are mint green and pink Or you could make them Purple and yellow)
(okay, I looked up Gojo and his eyes are so pretty, I can't 😭 also, if there is an oc behind this....I wanna meet them please and thank you 😊)
Tumblr media
There's not many things that Lilia hasn't seen. But he understands that compared to him you are quite young,  and you haven't had the time he has had to get used to your own skin. So he's willing to wait. He knows you'll show him your beautiful eyes when you are ready.
And one day, you are. You're having a cuddle session, and Lilia is whispering enough affirmations to you that there is no world where you can't feel loved.  And when you're timid voice speaks up and says you're ready to show him your eyes, he has to do his best not to let out an excited shout so that he doesn't scare you off.
He is immediately distracted by your pink eye when the mask comes off. He has pink eyes! It's like you're destined to be together! You can't help but laugh about how excited he is about that, which sets him spiraling off on how your mint green eye is just as good because the thorn fairy loves green!
Again, there is no way you can feel unloved when you're with this man. A part of you thinks it's silly that you ever felt self conscious, before he sees that thought cross your face, and tells you that it's alright, that was just your nervous system protecting itself can you tell I'm doing parts work in therapy lmao and that it is okay for you to protect yourself that way. There is nothing to be ashamed of.
Immediately wants to go back to the cuddle session. Don't get him wrong, he's really excited that you guys took this step forward together, but he is starting to get chilly again since you took a break from cuddling.
Tumblr media
He's a little sheltered, let's be real. So when you tell him why you wear the mask all the time, he wants to tell you that he won't stare, but he can't be certain. He knows he'll love you no matter what, but still, he's not sure if you'd be comfortable with him staring.
So it's a growth thing for both of you. You both need to be ready for it. Riddle takes the time to get used to the idea, and you take the time to trust that Riddle isn't going to leave you or get scared of you over something like this. (He won't. He knows this. He loves you too much. But he won't push you on it.)
When both of you are ready, you do your best to make it as normal as possible (but both of you are nervous, so it's still a little stiff). The idea was you'd have a tea party at Ramshackle, where Riddle would arrive and the mask would already be off. Easy peasy.
Riddle knew he would stare. But he didn't expect that the staring would be from how beautiful your eyes were. Both of them are practically glittering like jewels. He tears up a little, once he realizes how amazing it is to see his true love's eyes for the first time. It's like he is falling in love all over again.
After he assured you he's crying from happiness, you go back to your tea party. You do your best to stop your heart from fluttering whenever you catch Riddle staring at you with pure love and adoration.
Tumblr media
He wishes he had some authority to give you advice on. He wishes he could offer some way to help you build your confidence up… but considering he calls his past "the forbidden lore" he has absolutely no authority. So he'll just have to wait until you are ready.
Also, prior to you dating, when you showed up in his life, he may or may not have had Jade look into you for business purposes, and you may or may not have never forgotten that, even though you know full well that he no longer needs blackmail or a use a contract to get you to do what he wants.
So it takes a bit of time for you to be ready to show him your eyes. To him, you are perfect in every way so there's nothing to worry about, but again, he has absolutely no authority in the manner.
One day he offers a trade. He shows you his true form, if you show him your eyes. He even has a contract and everything, where if the day comes and either of you isn't ready, you can wait a little longer. But he thinks that if you both show your true selves at the same time, it might be easier.
So during the winter break, when Azul is certain there won't be many people on campus, you both go to one of the Octavinelle tanks, and he holds a potion, while you hold the corner of your mask. It's a "rip off the band-aid on three" kind of thing, and once you have both "transformed", it's very quiet in there.
You're struck with how beautiful he is. He's self conscious about this form? But he's so gorgeous! How can that be? Meanwhile he's having the exact same thoughts about you.
You both say, "You're so beautiful!" At the exact same time, and now you're both flustered. It's pretty cute actually, you're both acting like bashful young lovers and trying to one up each other on the compliments. And both of you end up coming to a new conclusion
It doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks of you, because the one who matters most thinks you're perfect.
Tumblr media
This guy. *Sighs*
He lives to compliment people. It's his favorite part of being Le chasseur d’amour! He wants to compliment all of you, and this includes what he is positive are "the most beautiful eyes to ever grace any world".  Most of the people on this list will let you do things on your own time. Rook Hunt is not most people.
He wants to read you like a book, and the eyes are the windows to the soul, non? Perhaps just a peak. He won't ask again! He promises he will be content if he just gets a peak.
Like Lilia, there's no world you can feel unloved with Rook. But his tactic here seems to be to annoy you enough that you forget that you are self conscious. And Rook is pretty good at strategy, so this plan is actually working.
"This moment would be most merveilleux if I could see the emotions that your mask hides from me."
"You are a cruel lover to deny me your radiant gaze."
"If I were your mask, I should cherish every moment that I got to behold your visage."
One day, you are in the midst of  what is currently up to thirty minutes of a monologue on how "nothing would give my heart more joy than to be blessed with your holy gaze but once" when you just…rip off the mask.
What you don't expect is his hands immediately caressing your face as he kisses you with more passion than he ever has before (which is saying a lot, he's been written up for excessive pda multiple times at Pomefiore events he'd taken you to). When his mouth isn't on you he is breathlessly whispering about how "your godlike gaze is almost too much for this mortal being" and "Je peux mourir heureux maintenant que j'ai regardé le soleil."
You want to tell him to shut the fuck up, you're annoyed with him, but he's so passionate, and now you're getting all flustered and caught up in the moment, and you're forgetting what was happening a moment ago. The mask has a tendency to vanish from here on out. And the perfect hunter has no idea where it is. How strange! 😲
Tumblr media
What Vil really wants is to know that the outfits he has designed for you will match your eyes. But he supposes that as long as they matched the mask it would be alright.
If you are okay with him doing your makeup, you'll hear him huff everytime he gets to the part where he'd normally do the eye makeup, but aside from that, he won't say anything.
He knows that his presence and beauty can be intimidating (Rook's words) and on top of that he knows that being his partner gets you some negative attention from some of his crazy fans. He gets that it has to be so easy for you to feel insecure about your eyes not matching. So, one day, he sits you down and takes your hand, and tells you that if you never are comfortable, that's fine. He'll support you.
He even designs masks for you. They are some of his favorite creations because his favorite person wears them. On a selfish note, they are a mark to everyone that you chose him.
He's so honored and flustered when you tell him that you won't wear the mask to the ceremony for the award he won. Honestly, he tears up a little, but he blots that away quickly, since he ran out of waterproof mascara yesterday. Asks if you are comfortable with Rook seeing your eyes first so that he can design the outfit and it'll be a surprise on the day. Like he'll get to fall in love with you all over again…or you know, whatever, he's just spitballing here.
If the answer is no, he will still be just as flustered when he picks you up at your door in the outfit he designed for you without seeing your eyes. Seeing your entire face, watching those eyes light up as they take him in, it's everything for him.
He's so proud when he receives his award, and gives a tear jerking speech where he thanks you for your love and support.  Everytime someone comes up to congratulate him, he goes on and on about how beautiful you look tonight, and how happy he is to have you in his life. It's the human side of Vil no one usually gets to see, and that night, everyone there sees you as the perfect being that Vil does.

The Awakening
Season 3 let's goooooooooo
Tumblr media
These Fire Nation cells are absurdly spacious.
I do love that Momo's first reaction is kisses.
Not a cell. Oops.
Well that was confusing. I was arguing so vociferously that the SWT weren't pirates and then they go and gank a ship.
Mai girl get it! Questionable taste in men, but I love to see a lady getting exactly what she wants.
Mai: "how are you?" Zuko: *existential dread* Mai: "babe. Shut up."
Tumblr media
Aang says he's the only one who's completely out of it, but Appa's behind him in full faceplant mode.
Actually, by the hair growth standard established by Zuko, Aang's been out 5 days at most.
Season 1 bitchy Katara is back again. I hate season 1 bitchy Katara.
I'm impressed by how much of these characters' identities is tied to their colour palettes. I see all these water tribe guys walking around in reds and blacks and I have no idea who I'm looking at.
Aang's eyes are back to brown this episode.
I love that Katara has no idea how she healed Aang. Superpowered does not mean superlearned. So much more believable than supergenius tweens.
Tumblr media
It's the old ladies! They're wearing croissants on their heads. Why not.
This is a cool way to do exposition. A royal proclamation narrating a flashback.
These Dai Li don't know shit about loyalty huh.
Tumblr media
SONG! HI SONG! I MISS YOU!
Tumblr media
CORNY BABY & FAMILY! HI CORNY BABY & FAMILY! I DON'T MISS YOU! My guy why haven't you unpacked yet.
Given the welcome Zuko gets from the Fire Nation crowds, I'm thinking the exact cause/terms of his banishment were never made public? They're hyping him up like a wrestling entrance. That doesn't track with someone known to be honourless.
Tumblr media
I want whatever's in Bato's bowl. Those noodles have him mesmerised. He's staring at them like they're telling him the secrets of the universe.
Tumblr media
Are you telling me that Appa successfully landed on the deck of one of these ships without sinking it?
I love how Gaang's reaction to everything going wrong is to go find their dad.
STOP GOING ON ABOUT THE INVASION PLAN. IT WON'T WORK. STOP.
Tumblr media
"Yep! The whole world thinks you're dead. Isn't that great!" Sokka. TACT.
Sometimes Sokka's brain gets too far ahead of itself.
Poor Aang. Not many people whose deaths are wrongly cause for celebration live long enough to see those celebrations.
How do the topknots fit inside the helmets?
Tumblr media
This is silly beyond words. It's a two second throwaway gag but they're so into it.
Aang saying "I hate not being able to do anything" to the girl whose whole existence was not doing anything until recently is certainly a choice. And honestly, wasn't Season 1 Aang's whole point not wanting to be the Avatar? Actual responsible adults are handling the problems for once. He should be ecstatic.
I just realised this Fire Nation disguise ship plan means there are people in the Southern Water Tribe who know how to run coal powered ships. Neat.
Tumblr media
One of the things I really love about Avatar is how much love they put into the side characters. This guy on the left is a nameless mook, but in the three to four lines of dialogue he gets, we see a world of political and bureaucratic headaches and a bunch of normal, humanising emotions (who hasn't been angry at that one coworker who can never be bothered to email?). The writers didn't have to give him that much personality, but they did!
Also, how often do Fire Nation ships get captured, if two pieces of bureaucracy not lining up causes this guy to jump to that conclusion, rather than think the bureaucracy messed up?
Tumblr media
Someone in the Fire Nation has invented extra buoyant metal.
Turtleducks are scared of Azula. Turtleducks are good judges of character.
An awful lot of this episode is flashback footage.
Tumblr media
Toph is a missile launcher. This is all I wanted out of life.
Tumblr media
For the first time ever, Aang gets to play the role that Sokka plays in every bending heavy battle.
Since when can Katara do bending moves this big?
Tumblr media
Sokka once again harnessing his ability to speak the opposite of what he wants into existence.
They said they passed through the serpent's pass a few days ago. Clever foreshadowing I completely missed.
Tumblr media
Don't you love it when all your problems cancel each other out?
Aang. This is not the hill to die on. Also please don't throw tapestries around in a room with unguarded candles until you can firebend.
Wow Aang is just taking all the wrong lessons from this. And he's stealing Zuko's lines.
Turns out the Firelord is just some guy with an unfortunate goat beard.
Katara finally gets a chance to be her age, complete with nonsensical emotions and misdirected anger. I hate bitchy Katara but I love seeing her expressing the root of that bitchiness. And I love how illogical it all is, and that she acknowledges that! Emotions ARE illogical and messy!
Contrasting Hakoda winning Dad of the Year with Ozai setting off every alarm bell known to man is a choice. A really good choice. But wow. Not subtle.
I knew Azula always lied, but to her own dad/Firelord too? That's a dangerous move.
Aang. What are you doing. Stop.
Tumblr media
Leave the door open. Peak sibling move.
In a turn of events that should surprise absolutely no one, Zuko's been played like a fiddle by his sister and is now as trapped as ever. The surprising part is that Azula thinks she can get away with lying to the Firelord too. Don't know how that's going to go for her long term.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So much for me saying the Avatar universe doesn't do ghosts. This season opener is surprisingly backwards-looking.
No offense to ghost Yue, but I think the saving the world she's referring to is the time she and a massive fishman saved the world, not strictly Aang.
Tumblr media
How did they get past the blockade and find the right island?
I cringed at Katara's knee slide.
Tumblr media
How are they standing on that island or breathing the air if it's hot enough to do that?
Final Thoughts
...what was that?
Seriously. This episode was a disorganised and aimless mess with the occasional gold mine of characterisation bobbing around. Did the writers not have a plan for what would happen after season 2 ended? This episode feels like the writers had as much plan as the characters did. If I was feeling charitable, I would say that this episode was a hot mess as a metanarrative commentary on Aang and the world's state, but I'm not feeling charitable. I think this episode was just a hot mess.
First, the good bits.
I liked that Sokka was very in character. We've seen before how he can run away with an idea to the point that he forgets to mind the human element. This episode's Sokka felt very much like Sokka. I liked that the beat up Sokka quota was replaced with 'Sokka dares the universe to play chicken and actually wins for once.' His optimistic characterisation this episode didn't grate like his inexplicable optimism did in Ba Sing Se, because here he has a reason to be happy. He's got his dad and a plan. Being around his dad and their people has done him good.
I like Toph the Ballista.
I like the noodle hypnosis.
I loved Katara's emotional blow up. It doesn't matter how noble or important the cause, leaving your kids for a cause is still leaving. I love that she points out how illogical her emotions are being. And I love that Hakoda creates a no-judgement-all-comfort-safe-to-rant zone for her. She's been waiting to do that for a while, and some of it came out at Zuko last episode, so it's been established that she's at boiling point. Fun fact: Katara has now had emotionally fraught venting sessions at Hakoda, Zuko, and Jet if you squint. I don't know what to make of the fact that the show has grouped these men into the same category of 'safe for Katara to vent to.'
I liked a couple of the throwaway gags, and the throwaway characters.
I liked the framing of Zuko's reintroduction to his father. Great use of angles and shadows. We've had two seasons of build up to this guy as the Biggest Bad, and the scene of Zuko kneeling in the throne room while Ozai paces around and delivers the world's most menacing praise felt big enough to be the crowning glory of that payoff. Especially contrasted to the loving father daughter reunion of equals it was interspersed with. But...
The bad bits.
Why did they immediately undermine two seasons of hype and all of the episode's menace by showing the Firelord as a gullible idiot who can't spot a bold-faced lie coming from a tween? I am legitimately pissed off that they defanged him as a threat so soon after introducing him. And I don't think showing that Azula can successfully lie to the Firelord builds up Azula as a threat - I think it also undermines her, because it's a stupid move. This episode could have introduced the biggest bad and reinforced the threat posed by last season's antagonist. Instead, it completely neutered the biggest bad and made Azula look like an idiot. I am actually mad about this.
Other stuff I didn't like: Aang's whole deal. Of course he was going to lose his mind and not be ok about what went down in Ba Sing Se. But he's never this dismissive of his friends, and a huge part of his early character is the fact that he would absolutely love it if some qualified adults stepped in and did the job he was unwillingly born into. Aang this episode felt self-centred and out of character.
Zuko's usually not this dim. I had figured out the angle Azula was going for by the end of the turtle duck pond conversation. Why can't he figure out for himself why Azula has redirected the potential blame if Aang is found to have survived?
The pacing felt off. The A plot flipped between action set pieces and emotional stuff. The B plot was purely talking. But the action set pieces felt out of place in an otherwise quiet episode. I get that you need something to interest the 8 year olds hyped up on sugar who only want explosions, but I think this episode would have been a lot better without the 'Aang almost drowns but gets a pep talk from a couple of ghosts who say exactly what everyone else has already said to him for two seasons but for some reason Aang listens this time and it works.' Why couldn't we have had a quiet episode?
Speaking of, why are Roku and Yue randomly popping up? Last time Aang talked to Roku, it took a trip into the Avatar state and the destruction of a very stupid general's whole army base. The ONLY person who's talked to Yue since she died is Sokka, and that took a magic swamp. I just don't get it. I don't get why they were there, why they said what they did, why those particular words in that particular order worked on Aang when no one else's words were getting through. I don't get why hiding out in the Fire Nation is the plan of choice over chilling with the Southern Water Tribe (other than because the plot says no responsible adults allowed).
The action piece with the Snekky Boy was fun. Even if what set it off was contrived (which it was), I think it was a fun watch and the only action the episode needed.
This episode was also so dark that I spent more time contemplating how much I really need to clean my screen than watching stuff happen.
I got so pissed off at this episode that I totally forgot about Mai. Go Mai! I am WEAK for romance arcs that boil down to 'Girl sees boy. Girl wants boy. Girl gets boy." Go Girl! Like I said above, questionable taste, but if it's what she wants, then congrats on getting it. I love Azula noticed and is like 'my resident goth appears to be broken.'
I have decided that Toph carved an underground harbour like the refugee station on Full Moon Bay and stashed all the water tribe ships in there, because those ships are too pretty to scuttle.
If I could surgically remove that scene between Katara and Hakoda and insert it into some other episode, I'd never watch this one again.

01. Chapter One.
Malevolent Casino - a brand easily recognised by the public. The rising popularity of this casino company is no secret to the world. And the way they’re topping the casino industry only adds to the wealth held by the man that possesses this establishment that’s tainted with the misery of others. Gambling– everyone loves to shun the topic of it out in the open, but when times are tough and a good rush of adrenaline is needed, guess where people drift towards?
Sukuna put out the light on his cigar as he gazed upon his company’s revenue from last year, printed out on the document he held up in his hand. The incredibly significant numbers put a smile to his face. Earning money off of the pathetic men and women that have crippling addictions - all of them being regulars at his facilities - there is no better source of income for a person like Sukuna than this.
But still…he felt as though he was always missing something.
Though the amount of money being raked in was quite remarkable, there was a lack of exponential growth seen in the company’s annual revenue in the past few years. In some, there had even been a slightly concerning and noticeable decrease.
It had taken Sukuna a little bit of pondering to realise what it was that his company lacked - a good public image. Perhaps it was due to how his business emerged from the darker part of society; a flawless reputation had been something that was the least of Sukuna’s concerns back when he’d began making his way to the top.
He definitely wasn’t about to let his business flicker out like a dying flame in a decade or so. A plan was to be devised.
…And thus, this finalised plan of his brings him to this small, yet refined bar in a more remote and quiet part of the city.
-
Sitting at the bar counter alone, you bask yourself in the slow music that echoes around, taking the final sip from your almost-empty glass. There are very few customers around in your vicinity, and perhaps only a little bit of muted chattering can be heard in the distance from where you remain.
Just as you’re about to ask the bartender for another, he brings you a drink that you have no memory of ordering.
“The gentleman over there requested this for you,” he voices, noticing your expression of inquiry. You turn to see a man wearing an expensive looking crimson suit, giving you a small smile from across the room. Ominous looking tattoos adorn his face, but they compliment his pink, gelled up hair quite well. You politely smile back at him, and turn to the front again.
Judging from its colour and scent, you can guess what kind of drink it is. You can’t really say that it’s your favourite.
A few minutes after, footsteps resound from behind - and a deep, velvety voice calls out to you.
You look up and meet the man’s eyes.
“Not a fan of whiskey?” he asks, smoothly taking the empty seat beside you.
“Unfortunately not,” you respond, swirling the glass cup’s contents around mindlessly with your hand.
“Apologies for that. What kind of drink do you prefer?”
“...A dry martini would be nice,” you tell him, reflecting his flawless falsified smile.
The pink haired man gives a little nod to the bartender, and he is soon on his way to mix up another drink for you.
“And I’ll help myself with this one, in your stead.”
He reaches out for the glass in your hand, and as he closes the distance between his and your body, the scent of his cologne seems to disperse into the air around you. You watch his fingertips graze your hand ever so slightly, while he takes the whiskey away.
“Would you believe me if I said I’d fallen in love at first sight?” he responds with a humorous undertone.
“You’re quite the fine gentleman. What business would you have with a lady like me tonight?”
Sukuna lets out a boyish chuckle - the only genuine reaction you’ll be getting out of him today.
It was your turn to let out a small laugh.
He faces you with a smirk, and you notice the way he taps his finger against the surface of the counter.
“Certainly not. You don’t seem like the type,” you tell him.
“Oh? And why is that?” He takes a sip from the glass of whiskey.
“You don’t strike me as a very sentimental man.”
“I wouldn’t say that you’re entirely incorrect. But I’m not as emotionless as you may think.”
You meet his eyes once again. It’s incredibly difficult to tell when this man is lying.
“Is that so,” you say, giving him a look of intrigue.
Moments later, your martini finally arrives, which you’re quite happy to see.
“I don’t believe so. The Golden Rose Enterprise has been a vastly successful business, ever since you took over.”
“Malevolent Casino, is it? The name of your company,” you ask as you take the drink into your hand.
“An honour that you know of it. Especially from someone of your calibre,” Sukuna says, unsurprised that you’d caught onto him.
“You flatter me.”
You force out a courteous smile.
“I’ll assume that we’re skipping over the self introductions,” he continues speaking.
“Feel free to contact me when you’re ready. I’ll be happy to take you out for dinner.”
“It’s true that I approached you with an offer in mind that you may find interesting,” Sukuna informs, eyeing your reactions carefully.
“Apologies, but I don’t usually tend to talk about business when I’m around alcohol.”
“That’s fine by me,” he says, reaching into the inner pocket of his suit. What he pulls out is a business card.
He then finishes up the remaining whiskey in his glass in one go and stands up to pay for the both of you. Before he excuses himself however, he comes over to you one last time.
“Business is business, but…”
Sukuna leans down closer to you, his face being inches away from yours.
“I’m not fuckin’ around when I say that I’m interested in you too. I don’t just buy drinks for anybody,” he tells you in a low voice. The sudden tonal shift from being overly formal to the crude language is indeed something you weren’t expecting. An unexplainable shock runs down your spine. Seeing your widened eyes grant him satisfaction, and he smirks as he gazes down at you while still hovering close to your face for a few more seconds.
He moves back away, and puts his hands into his pockets.
“It would be nice to get to know you better. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you again,” Sukuna tells you, as he begins to walk away.
“Have a good evening.”
You’re left alone with the drink that he’s bought for you, and the black business card that still holds the scent of his cologne. You chuckle cynically at yourself, looking at the number that's printed on it.
The man sure knows how to linger in someone’s thoughts.
Meanwhile, outside of the bar, Sukuna hums as he walks over to his car. Easy. A bit too easy.
He’s casted out the bait - now all he shall do is wait for you to bite onto it.
-
A little over a week has passed since then - and frustratingly enough, he has heard nothing from you as of yet. He spins the pen in his hand at his desk, while he rests his chin against his other palm lazily. He’s certain that he had indeed grabbed your attention that night. What could be the reason for this radio silence? Are you shy? Overly cautious? Too busy?
That last possible reason ticks him off a bit. You’re not the only one running a successful business here. You think he’s not busy?
His thoughts are interrupted when a knock comes at his door.
“Come in,” he states firmly, not moving from his current position. Uraume, his secretary, enters the room shortly after. They walk up closer to where his desk is, and stops to stand a few metres away.
“What is it?” he asks them, continuing to fiddle with that pen in his hand.
“I’ve received a report saying there’s been a bit of a dispute between an employee and a regular customer, sir. The customer is giving threats to sue the company, and the employee sustained an injury from an object that was thrown at him. I thought it’d be best if you knew about it.”
“Is he a VIP customer?” Sukuna asks immediately.
“No, sir.”
“Then he’s nothing to worry about. If he takes it to court like an idiot, send one of our lawyers to the case. He’s injured one of the staff - he’s unlikely to win.”
“Yes sir.”
He stops fidgeting with the pen.
“How’d they end up dealing with him?”
“He was escorted outside by the security guards - by force.”
“By force, huh…”
That’s right…
If you won’t look his way, he can just force you to.
“Uraume. You wouldn’t mind if I went on a little break, would you?”
-
This is your favourite part of the day.
Sitting down at your large desk, signing off a few papers quietly whilst the steam rises from the piping hot cup of tea that rests close to you. Right after finalising these few documents, you’ll get to sip on it and take a little break from your work…Or so you thought. Three sharp knocks resound from the door.
“Yes? Please come in,” you call out.
The person that emerges from the entrance is Nanami, your most competent secretary.
“It seems there’s a significant guest visiting the hotel today, ma’am. The manager requests your presence in greeting this person,” he informs you.
“Significant guest? I don’t recall there being any VIP bookings today,” you respond, standing up from your seat and walking over towards him.
“He booked in moments prior, and also applied for the VIP membership today. Paid on the spot.”
“...Impressive,” you relent, already having an educated guess on who this person may be.
The two of you make your way down to the hotel lobby, where you’re faced with a few slightly panic-stricken employees of yours, all of them making way for you to approach this new “significant guest” of yours.
Sukuna smiles triumphantly as you make your appearance, being blatant about his pride in his presence that requires a personal greeting from the CEO herself.
“Good afternoon, sir. To what do I owe this pleasure?” you say, standing before him.
“There’s no need to be so formal. I just thought it’d be nice to spend my day off somewhere… extravagant.”
He scans his surroundings, pretending to be interested in the interior decoration and furnishing of the lobby.
“I see. Then allow me to accompany you to your VIP suite,” you tell him with a polite smile. Nanami receives the key for Sukuna’s room while you dismiss the employees that are gathered around the front desk - getting them on their way to greet the other guests coming in.
“Nanami - you can head back up and finish your paperwork for the day,” you instruct the man as you take the key from his hand, “I can guide him by myself.”
“Yes ma’am.” He makes a short bow and excuses himself first.
You turn to look at Sukuna, who seems to be pleased with your decision to send everybody else away.
“Well then. Shall we be on our way?”
“Certainly.”
He follows you close behind all the way to a private elevator that is separate from the ones taken by regular guests.
The elevator arrives with a ding, and both of you step inside of it once the doors slide open.
“From my understanding…you’re not here simply for a nice hotel experience, are you?” you ask Sukuna, who is watching the floor numbers on the monitor go down as the two of you wait for its arrival.
“Such keen observation, as usual. You are correct.”
Bullshit, Sukuna thinks.
“I assume then, it’s got something to do with my lack of response to your proposal that other day.”
“So you’re aware. I thought you’d forgotten all about me, with the way I was left waiting.”
“I do apologise. The week has been rather busy for me, but I promise to come by soon enough.”
“Very well,” he replies, turning to you with a pretentious smile.
“In the meantime, it would be nice if I could show you around - especially since you came all the way here,” you suggest to him. “Please let me treat you to some lunch.”
“I look forward to it.”
Upon entering the suite, you make a quick tour of the room for him, ignoring the couple of underhanded compliments he gave every now and then regarding the interior design. A very particular person, he is. Though a large majority of it was done out of spite; he was, truthfully, quite impressed by the quality. There was no luggage that he’d brought with him today, considering how he was only spending one night here, so the room tour ended pretty quickly and you were soon bringing him along to the restaurant, down the building.
As the name of your company suggests - the colour gold seems to linger around at every turn they take, being draped over a lot of the furnishing and architecture. He can’t shake off the feeling that it might be a little excessive. After passing through the hallways, the two of you finally get to the hotel’s dining room. A waiter comes around and formally introduces themselves, before handing over two menu lists after leading you to an appropriate table for two.
“What would you like to eat? We have quite a broad list of options that you can choose from.”
He skims over the various dishes listed on the laminated sheet before making a quick decision on the Filet Mignon, with tomato soup and a bread roll as the appetiser. You decide to have the same thing.
“You seem pretty excited,” you comment, gazing over at him with an amused look on your face.
“Of course. Eating is one of the greatest pleasures of life,” he states with confidence, eyeing the perfectly polished cutlery on the table, “don’t you agree?”
“Undoubtedly. Which is why we only hire the best chefs for our hotel dining.”
“I’m not too difficult to satisfy when it comes to food, so you don’t need to get too nervous,” he tells you. This evokes a genuine chuckle out of you. He really likes eating – is a mental note that you make in your head quietly.
Sukuna eats in a very satisfying way-- he eats tidily, but is not shy to clean everything off the plate. You can’t help but appreciate his table manners. You pour a glass of the tropical fruit juice for him. When questioned ‘Why not wine instead?’ - he’d replied with ‘It’s too bright outside for alcohol,’ which came off as a surprise to you.
What he notices from you, is the way you seem to be closely analysing him. For what purpose? A few ideas do come to mind. But he can tell you’re not doing it with malicious intent. He accepts the juice that you offer him.
“Do you have a lover, Mr. Ryomen?” you ask him, out of the blue. It even takes him aback, a little bit.
“...Would it please you if I said no?” Sukuna shoots back, having his interest piqued from your sudden query.
“It most certainly would,” you say with a small smile. He can’t really read into what you’re trying to do here.
Outwardly, there is little change in his demeanour. Continuing to cut up his meal, he watches as the blood oozes out from the pink and tender meat inside– something that he most appreciates, when it comes to having his steak rare.
“Would it be alright for me to visit you at your room tonight?” you say.
Your abrupt assertiveness is nothing less than…puzzling. But it wouldn’t really hurt to play along with you for now.
“A rather…sudden initiative, on your part. Can I ask why?”
“There’s no need to read too deep into it. I’ve been meticulously planning something for a while now,” you put your cutlery down onto the table, “and I think you might find it appealing.”
It’s not often that Sukuna gets curious about something, or someone.
“I’m happy to listen to your proposal as well, of course. I’m confident it will fit well into mine.”
Sukuna takes his last bite of the steak and also puts his knife and fork down.
“Quite a bold claim to make, considering how I haven’t told you what I want yet…” he wipes his lips down with a serviette and neatly folds it up. “...But sure. I’m eager to hear what you have in mind.”
He just hopes it won’t be a waste of his time.
The two of you continue to make aimless small talk as dessert comes around, before you have to eventually excuse yourself to continue your office duties.
“I hope you enjoy the rest of your day, Mr. Ryomen. I’ll come by at around 8pm, tonight,” you tell him, standing up from your seat and making a quick glance at your wristwatch.
“Right. I’ll see you then,” he replies, and proceeds to watch as you walk off, each elegant step followed by another.
Sukuna knows - it won’t be easy work manipulating you, from the looks of it. He plans to start off small; offer to work in collaboration with you, only to slowly start making his way further into your prized possession– Golden Rose Enterprise– like a poison that spreads through the veins. Whether it’s through seizing your love and affection, or grasping tightly onto a weakness of yours - he’ll let you decide on that.
For now, all he needs to do is find a way to kill the time before 8pm arrives. Perhaps he should call for an in-room massage later?
-
By the time you reach your office once again, your pitiful cup of tea has gone terribly cold. You get someone to dispose of it for you.
Ryomen Sukuna… the man seems to be plotting something. You knew from the very moment he reached out, that he was up to no good. Him and his company are both quite infamous - just as your hotels are known for their flawless reputation and transparency, Sukuna’s business is known for their questionable public image. Though there hasn’t been any real trouble that’s arisen as of yet, the rumours that they’re roped into aren’t pleasant at all.
And not to mention the CEO himself…
Eccentric, temperamental, yet also intelligent and charismatic; this is what your research on him tells you so far. A long history of scandals involving various female celebrities, the man has lived through quite a dramatic love life if what the articles say are true.
But, well, you’re not that particularly worried. You finish signing off the remaining papers at your desk.
You’ll put him on a leash, before he puts one onto you. You print off a copy of your well put together, finalised contract, and slide it into an A4 envelope, sealing it shut. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
At ten minutes to eight, you’re ready to head into his room, where you shall reveal your cards to him.
Meanwhile- Sukuna, in his VIP suite- has just finished up his shower and makes an effort to dry his hair with a towel taken from the hanger. He then hums as he feels up the material on the pitch black bathrobe he finds on the sink counter, neatly folded and ready for use. After donning the robe, he emerges from the bathroom at good timing as he hears someone at the door.
It hardly seems surprising to you, when he opens up shamelessly wearing the hotel’s bathrobe that presents his collar bones in a lascivious way, still looking a little moist from his shower. You ignore all of that, and look up at him, who smirks down at you, in all his arrogance.
“Good to see you. Come on in,” he tells you with nonchalance, stepping off to the side to make way for you.
“It’s good to see you making yourself comfortable. How do you like this room?” you ask, sitting down on one of the sofa seats at the coffee table.
The two of you exchange polite smiles. He notices the envelope in your hands.
“Nothing less than what I’d expected, from a five star hotel,” Sukuna says as he takes the seat on the other side of the table.
“That’s great news.”
“Well then. I’ll get straight to the point,” you begin.
“Why don’t we get married, Sukuna?”
You call him by his name, for the first time. And additionally, you see his expression of surprise for the first time as well.
“...What?”
You give him a look that makes it obvious that you were expecting this kind of response.
Sukuna seems to still be processing the idea, hanging his head as he leans back against the sofa seat.
“...I understand that reaction. But I’m not saying this as a joke,” you tell him, holding back a chuckle from seeing his dumbfounded response.
“Have you ever heard of what a marriage of convenience is?” you ask.
“And? On what grounds are you asking someone you met a week ago to marry you? Even if it is out of convenience,” he questions, his real personality beginning to show itself to you.
“You’re like the last puzzle piece for my final picture. There’s a lot that I’d like to gain from you and I’m sure there’s a lot you want from me – isn’t that why you approached me at the bar?”
Sukuna regains his composure and narrows his eyes at you.
“Putting aside your needs for now…how can you be so sure about my demands? Enlighten me.”
“I did have a couple of guesses on what they could’ve been. A company that’s already at the peak of the casino industry. What exactly could you be missing?” you speak confidently.
“And my answer ended up being…reputation. Your numbers are consistent, but they’re not accumulating as much as you’d like them to, are they? Perhaps due to a lack of new members at your casinos. The ones that are already hooked may continue to spend money, but a flawed public image is preventing you from gaining new customers. Even a small shortcoming like that is enough to cause problems in the future.”
Sukuna has a fascinated grin that he covers with the palm of his hand. You’re… interesting.
“Which is presumably why you’d want to work with a company that is known for having a perfect reputation. I’m sure partnering up with me would improve it, albeit a little, just by association.”
“You have me backed into a corner,” Sukuna lies, running a hand through his hair at a languid pace.
“But that still doesn’t explain why we should have to get married does it?” he voices carefully.
"We recently finished remodelling our hotel wedding venues. I want to promote it in a more flamboyant manner. What better way than to get married myself?"
An unlikely couple such as yourself and Sukuna would gain a lot of attention; especially from how he’s already well known by the public. You’ll create the grand facade that he’d ‘changed for the better’.
"You’re able to go as far as marriage for the sake of your business?" Sukuna asks with a raised eyebrow.
You look at him straight in the eyes, mouth set in a straight line, and arms crossed.
"Yes, I am."
Witnessing your sincere determination, Sukuna goes from slightly doubting your plans, to acknowledging that you have ambition worth recognising. You’re not very sane at all.
“Alright. Let’s say that’s fair enough. What else would you want from me beyond that?”
A glint shows up in your eyes, as if you’d been waiting for this question this whole time.
“...As the CEO of a casino company, you’d have a long list of top secret VIP customers.”
Sukuna immediately understands where this is heading towards.
“That I do.”
“Our hotels have been doing perfectly fine with our usual guests, but there’s been a bit of a decline with attaining new VIP members recently. My main goal is to snatch up a few from your list using, hopefully, a bit of your influence.”
He crosses his arms and falls silent for a few moments.
“Objectively speaking, having our companies collaborate would create a rift in Golden Rose’s image. But that’s something I’m willing to sacrifice if everything goes smoothly.”
“Is reputation the only benefit I’m getting from this marriage?”
“Why, of course not. Since it’s not new for hotels to have casinos near, or even inside them, I thought it’d be nice if we made a collaboration. As you would know - next to my main hotel, I own another building. We can renovate, and insert new slot machines as you see fit. Funded entirely by me.”
A spark of intrigue gleams over his eyes. Tempting offer indeed.
“I’ve written up a contract as reasonable as I could make it, outlining the details of our marriage, including a few rules and regulations, and what to do if we end up wanting to divorce, for whatever reason,” you say as you slide over the envelope towards him on the coffee table.
So she meant it when she said she was preoccupied this week… Sukuna thinks to himself. Writing up a contract takes quite a lot of energy, after all.
"I'll look forward to hearing back from you again."
"...Give me some time. I'll consider it," he finally tells you, leaning back and crossing his legs after much contemplation.
"Wonderful." You stand up from your seat and look down at him with a smile.
When you're a few steps to getting to the door, Sukuna speaks up again from behind you.
"Aw, leaving so soon? I wouldn't mind if you stayed the night here with me," he teases - with a smirk that you can hear in his voice.
"...Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to decline. Have a good night."
He hears you leave, with the sound of the door opening and closing.
“Tch. What a prude way of saying no.”
Aren’t you a little too cold for someone who aims to be his lawful wife?
No matter - he’ll find one way or another to get under that awfully polite attitude of yours.
-
The contract is actually quite reasonable and fair for both parties, and Sukuna hates to admit so. You worked on this alone? Or maybe you had that stuck up of a secretary helping you behind the scenes.
Either way, upon having his own lawyer review it for him after carefully reading through it himself, he has decided that he will take you up on this offer - and participate in this marriage of convenience.
It makes things easier for him, after all. This will skip him a lot of steps, and you’ll be closer to his reach, making it simpler to play around with you as he pleases. Not to mention; the contract states that if the wedding doesn’t happen, all negotiations are off the table. Clever of you to make it an ‘all in or nothing’ type of agreement.
Today’s the day where he’d already arranged another meeting with you at one of his private restaurants, where he anticipates seeing your pretty face again, since it’s been a little over a week.
Uraume opens the car door for him, and he steps outside without a hitch.
He’s a little elated to find you already sitting inside, gazing out the window as you’re at the fancily decorated table. You’re dressed in a quite eloquent outfit, perfect for a day like this, where the petals are carried away from cherry blossom trees, even by the gentlest of breezes.
“How impolite of me to keep a lady waiting,” Sukuna says as he approaches you, “apologies for the late arrival.”
“Not at all. It’s a habit of mine to show up at least ten minutes before any appointment. You’re actually on time,” you tell him, looking at the watch on your wrist.
“...Quite the courteous habit to have.”
Sukuna’s private restaurant specialises in Japanese cuisine, which explained the various platters of sushi and sashimi that were soon getting placed onto the table, shortly after his arrival. He lets you take the first mouthful, and appears to be awaiting your opinion on the taste.
“This…is really good. I can tell the fish is fresh, and there’s a perfect amount of vinegar in the rice,” you comment, your chopsticks going for another one.
“I’m glad it’s to your taste. Nothing but the best for my fiancé.”
The term he uses catches you a little off guard, but you manage to laugh it off. Sukuna is very satisfied by the millisecond of a pause in your reaction. Perhaps you should’ve added the rule of no unnecessary flirting with the other party into your contract?
After the hearty meal, the table is cleared, and the contract is taken out and placed upon it, resting between the two of you.
“We’ve both come here to sign this, am I correct?” you reconfirm, pulling out a pen of yours, ready to draw up your signature.
“Indeed. We’ve reviewed it multiple times back and forth between us, I doubt there’s anything more to worry about.”
You pass it on over to him, after signing it swiftly. He does the same.
The both of you are now officially bound together, by law.
There’s a beautiful shade of pink outside that grasps your attention, every now and then. You’d forgotten the current season was spring – and like in every other year, the cherry blossoms are always there to remind you. This is a nice restaurant indeed.
“I hope you have the time to enjoy some tea with me, Y/N,” Sukuna says as he puts his pen away. It feels nice to hear someone call you by your name like that.
“Fortunately, I do have a few minutes to spare.”
“Enjoying the outside view?” he asks - placing his focus on you, rather than the window.
“Yes, actually. This view is…very lovely.”
You say it in a soft spoken voice, and your eyes mellow out in a way he doesn’t expect when you look out the window once again. He takes a mental note to bring you here a second time, once the next spring season arrives.
This tea time is spent very delightfully (to your surprise), for maybe the next ten minutes before the both of you need to eventually leave due to your busy schedules. Once standing up, you offer your hand to the man before you, with a smile. He takes your hand, that is so dainty and soft compared to his, and shakes it.
“Your hair is the same colour as those petals,” you say without thinking.
“I do get that a lot. I’d argue that I’ll always look better than any of those trees, however.”
“That’s some impressive confidence you have,” you retort, with a chuckle.
As you’re walking out of the restaurant alongside him, you remember something you’d forgotten to mention to him.
“The wedding will be in a month’s time. We’ll see each other a couple of times before then,” you state, looking up at him in the eyes.
“Excellent. Feel free to contact me whenever.”
“I actually prefer your normal attitude, rather than the one you’re using around me all the time,” you tell him truthfully.
“You mean my flirtatious advances on you?”
“No, you already do that now. I mean when you use your crude language, and speak in shorter sentences.”
You nonchalantly walk out of the door that he’s still holding open for you.
“Oh? ...You’re into that shit? Very unexpected, coming from someone like you,” he retorts with a smirk as he holds the door open for you.
“Yes, that’s much better. I’m happy to see that my future husband is the obedient type.”
Obedient–
He catches you giving one last glance at him, before getting inside of your car, with a cheeky smile on your face. Sukuna is stunned in an amused way, having been called obedient for the first time in his life. It should be making him angry, but he’s grinning instead. The urge to get back at you rises within him like wildfire.
This whole marriage thing with you is bound to be one hell of a ride.
-
“How are the wedding preparations going?” he asks on the phone.
The question comes while you’re inspecting the various invitation designs before you. You pick one of them up and flip to the other side.
“Very smoothly. You won’t have to lift a finger, as we promised.”
“That’s good to hear. It’s a shame, really. Would’ve liked to help pick out a wedding dress for you,” he says humourously.
“Certainly not. I imagine you’d pick an atrocious dress,” you tell him, listening to him chuckle.
“Not possible. All wedding dresses look the same anyway,” Sukuna dismisses.
You furrow your brows a little at his ignorance. Of course he’s the type to say that.
“I’ll have to disagree. But pushing that aside for now,” you say, putting down the sample invitation card, “have you prepared the list of guests you’d like to invite for the ceremony?”
“I have. I’ll get Uraume to send the list to you soon.”
“Thank you. Well then, I wish you a good afternoon.”
You end the call sharply.
Mildly irritated as he sits at the back of his car, Sukuna removes his phone from his ear and looks down at the screen with a raised eyebrow. He wishes you wouldn’t cut calls so abruptly like that. What is wrong with you?
“Pretentious,” he mutters, shoving his phone back into his pocket. He looks out his window, expressionlessly.
Amongst the number of people Sukuna plans to invite to the wedding, his mother and father aren’t a part of the list. But, surprisingly so, it’s the same for you too. They’re excluding the whole ‘walking the bride down the aisle’ as a result. He doesn’t care enough to ask you what happened to them – it’s none of his business, after all. It’s just a little strange to think about how both the bride and the groom will have absent seats for parents.
The car suddenly feels a little stuffy for him. He rolls the window down a little bit, letting the outside breeze swirl inside, carrying the scent of the city.
And as for you – after having completed a large portion of the work needed to be done for the wedding, you’re now happily sitting at home with a glass of wine in your hand. In maybe around two weeks’ time, you’ll be a legally married woman. It feels a little surreal to think about.
Looking over at the wedding invitation card that has his and your name printed over it, your mind brings up the image of your parents. Oh, how they would’ve never approved of a man like him. You can’t help but let out a small, dry laugh.
…It’s all for the sake of the business. You promised them to do well.
And you shall execute it– flawlessly.
-
Little inklings of dating rumours have already dispersed amongst the employees at both Malevolent Casino and Golden Rose Enterprise, having grown all the way back from the moment when Sukuna applied for the expensive VIP membership all too suddenly. That, and alongside the frequent ins and outs both you and Sukuna have been doing at each others’ offices have raised the suspicions of many. Countless friends and acquaintances have reached out, asking if it’s actually true. And to each one of them, you replied with a ‘yes’.
This is a perfect chain of events leading up to the marriage announcement. For someone who has quite a bit of media attention on him already due to past affairs, he is indeed the ideal candidate for the promotion of the hotel’s wedding services, as he’s bound to draw the gaze of a wider audience.
It’s rather amusing how many of them warned you, and discouraged your ‘relationship’ with Sukuna.
“He’s not like that at all. He treats me very well,” you responded to them, the best you could.
And then, you sent out the wedding invitations, not long after.
You become terribly busy in the final week before the ceremony. Giving instructions to employees during the setup process of the venue, arranging the rings, selecting the perfect dress and suit, establishing a script for the vows, and organising the food for the event. Not to mention, there needs to be professional photographers present to capture everything beautifully, so the photos can be uploaded to the hotel website.
For the honeymoon – you reckoned it’d be best to go somewhere overseas, even if for only a few days – in order to prevent speculations that the two of you may not actually be in love. When asked if there was a particular country he wanted to go to for the honeymoon, Sukuna replied with “I couldn’t care less where we go.”
So you took it upon yourself to select somewhere most convenient for you.
Ironically enough, you barely met the man during this final week, as you were too preoccupied with running around and making sure everything was perfect.
And now, here you are, dolled up in a stunning wedding gown, waiting for Sukuna to finish getting dressed up. You can hear the guests buzzing outside, anticipating the appearance of the bride and groom.
A whistle resounds in front of you. Looking up, you see him in the polished suit that you had picked out for him. Alongside that, his appropriately slicked back hair makes him look like quite the handsome gentleman.
“You look ravishing, my dear wife,” he comments, giving a smug, lopsided grin.
“Not your wife quite yet. We’re yet to be officiated,” you respond back with a smile.
“No need to mind the details. We’re about to be, anyway.”
He offers up his arm, and you’re quick to put your hand around it.
The two of you stand underneath an opulent arch, decorated with countless delicate roses. As the officiant makes his speech, you and Sukuna face each other hand in hand, exchanging gazes that contain nothing but false affection.
“The Bride and Groom shall now make their vows.”
The crowd watches intently, falling under a noticeable hush.
“On this joyous day, I, Ryomen Sukuna, will take you as my one and only – my lawfully wedded wife,” his voice booms brilliantly around this almost ethereal-looking wedding venue.
“I vow to bring forth happiness and fulfilment to our most tender, yet unshakable connection we share – and offer up my whole heart to you – as I shall be the valiant protector of our betrothal.”
He executes the speech with great accuracy and enthusiasm, which you are fairly impressed by. You almost let out a giggle from it, knowing that he is most undoubtedly rolling his eyes internally at the words that had just come out from his mouth.
“And I, (Y/N) (L/N), take you as my one and only – my lawfully wedded husband,” you mirror, letting your voice ring out just as he had let his.
“I vow to wholeheartedly embrace and value you as my other half, devoting myself to our most cherished relationship – where I shall tend to the light that our love emits, and treasure it endlessly.”
All of these fancy words - if only everyone knew that they were nothing but empty promises. Nevertheless, finally being able to say them aloud relieves a great weight from your shoulders. It’s almost over.
“You may now seal those promises with a kiss.”
Your eyes widen for a moment.
…You’d forgotten all about the very highlight of all wedding ceremonies. The kiss.
Looking to Sukuna with slight uncertainty, you wonder if you should be the one to initiate it–
He flashes you a gentle smirk. You’d overlooked this part, hadn’t you? He seems to ask.
He pulls you closer to him by snaking his arm around your waist without hesitation, and firmly presses his lips against yours. Having your worries been alleviated, you close your eyes during the kiss. The crowd cheers and a thunderous clap takes over the air around you.
The tips of your tongues brush up against each other, before he pulls away at the appropriate timing, leaving behind a very miniscule and delicate sense of disappointment from having it end so quickly.
The two of you make your way down the steps and walk through the aisle for the grand exit - stepping on the extravagant white carpet that leads to the outside world. Beautiful pink petals are showered down from the ceiling at this perfect timing - and the crowd continues their cheers tirelessly. From the corner of your eye, you inspect that the photographers are doing their jobs in a satisfactory manner.
From the way you and Sukuna bring up your smiles, it wouldn’t be an understatement to say that the two of you are excellent actors.
The path leads all the way to the sleek limousine that awaits the new couple.
You’re mildly surprised to see that it’s raining outside. The weather forecast this morning hadn’t said anything about rain this afternoon. Different hues of grey adorn the sky – the clouds are seemingly vehement on concealing its true colour today. As each of your respective secretaries open up a large umbrella to shelter the two of you, you wonder in dismay. Is this supposed to be some kind of omen?
Getting inside the vehicle, you confirm that the driver is Ijichi, and feel the tension from your body disappear in an instant, now being able to settle down a little more naturally.
“My face hurts from all that smiling,” Sukuna grunts beside you.
“I can say the same,” you agree, caressing your own cheek with your hand.
The limousine will drop by both of your homes, where each of you will get changed into more comfortable clothing before taking off for the airport. Luggage had already been packed prior to the wedding. You’re exhausted, and you could say that you’re pretty envious of Sukuna’s relaxed state that you see once you come back down after changing.
“You must be tired,” he suddenly comments, eyeing you up once you’ve seated yourself comfortably, putting your seatbelt on.
“What makes you say that?” you ask him.
He reaches his hand out to your head, where he gingerly takes something up. When he opens his palm for you to see it, you realise that it’s a petal from the wedding.
“Forgot to check the mirror?” Sukuna asks rhetorically with a cocky undertone.
You let out something like a helpless laugh.
“Thank you for picking up on it.”
The ride to the airport is entirely silent, with you and Sukuna quietly staring out into the windows, watching the scenery outside. As much as you would’ve liked to fall asleep to the softly orchestrated patter of rain against the car’s exterior…you just couldn’t seem to.
After arriving at the airport, you thank Ijichi for his extra service, and promise that his bonus will be sent to his account very shortly. Then, the two of you are guided to the boarding entrance, where you’re seated in the elite economy class.
The plane is headed for Paris, France. A little cliche and overdone, but it’s a place you’d been to most frequently, as your parents had taken you there often for business purposes. The ride goes without any issues, as Sukuna had let out the occasional yawn beside you, before slipping on a silk eye mask and going for a nap. He managed to wake himself up a little before the plane landed.
Upon your arrival at the grand hotel in the bustling city of Paris, the two of you are booked into the same room but with separate bedrooms. The luggage is handled carefully, as the bellman guides both of you to the room.
“I was thinking we could use this opportunity,” he says as he walks close beside you, “to spend the night like how all newlyweds do.”
The fatigue has worn your usual polite attitude off, and you have to roll your eyes at him.
He thoroughly enjoys getting under your skin.
“Quite the charming suggestion. Too bad that I have no energy for that right now.”
“Are you implying that you might in the future?”
“...Think of it as you will, Sukuna.”
The moment you enter, you drag your feet over to your own room.
“I’m going to sleep straight away. Feel free to spend the day how you wish,” you tell him, before going inside and closing the door behind you.
Sukuna has a little bit more energy to burn off, since he took a long nap on the plane – so he decides to step out and enjoy the outside city while he’s here.
It’s not as if it’s his first time in Paris - he’d done a lot of travelling back in his younger days, when he used to be absolutely drunk on the amount of money he was making. He already knows which restaurants and shops are to his taste, and since it’s been a while, he decides he’ll pass some time by revisiting those same places.
He very much enjoys his independent shopping – particularly that feeling of satisfaction at the end, when he’s gained a handful of carefully selected goods. The first place he drops by is a luxurious shoe store, where he picks the pairs that fancy him most, and an employee is immediately ready to come down and help him with fitting them on.
By the end of his little trip, Sukuna’s accompanying assistant has his arms full with various shopping bags, filled with new suits, shoes, expensive cologne… let’s just say that he’s very keen about maintaining his appearance for self satisfaction. And each item was carefully chosen from the designer brands that Sukuna favours greatly.
His bags are dropped off to his room by that same assistant. Before he goes back, Sukuna heads off to the hotel’s bar, where he plans to spend some quiet time with a drink to finish off the day.
This hotel’s well established bar is quite suited to his liking, he thinks, as skims his surroundings, languidly making his way through the dimly lit, atmospheric area.
What he orders tonight at the bar counter is a boulevardier cocktail – being in the mood to have something bittersweet on his taste buds. He’s barely had a chance to take a sip of the drink, when someone all too abruptly claims the empty seat to his right.
“I’ll have a dry martini, please.”
The phrase makes Sukuna whip his head to the side, being mildly pleased to think that it might be the person who he assumes it is.
…He finds that it’s a woman he doesn’t know of at all, staring back at him with a sly smile. He doesn’t visibly show any disappointment, but he does face the front again, before taking a gulp out of the crimson-coloured liquid that resembles the hue of his eyes.
“What, am I not pretty enough for you?” the girl asks in a playful manner.
“...I wouldn’t say that. You’re not too bad to look at,” Sukuna responds honestly.
He entertains her for a little while, doing the bare minimum to keep up with the conversation. She seems so eager to escalate things with him, and he considers it, seeing as he’s got nothing better to do. The contract does state that such relations are permitted for both parties, so long as it’s outside of the media’s attention.
There’s lots of casual touching going on, whether it’s brushing her hand over his, or placing them onto his shoulder or arm, being very blatant in the way she flirts.
The woman hovers inches away from his face, and he stares down at her while he makes some last minute decisions. His gaze falls down to her lips.
“Well? What do you say?” she urges him for an answer, leaning closer to him.
“We could head up to my room and…keep each other some company.”
Just as she thinks she’s gotten him on board, Sukuna grabs her face and pushes her away, deeming that it’s too bothersome for all of that tonight. She pouts right after he lets go of her.
“And I thought we were on the same page… can I ask why?”
He downs the rest of his drink in one go before showing the girl the ring on his left hand.
“At least pay for my drink!” she exclaims as a last resort.
“I’ll be taking my leave, then.”
“Wha- are you going already?!” she questions, thoroughly disappointed. He ignores it, and is already taking steps towards the exit.
With a hand in his pocket, he stops in his tracks, and turns slightly to the side to give her one final glance.
“Too bad. I don’t buy drinks for just anyone.”
Sukuna then heads back up to his room, wondering if you’ll be awake by the time he arrives.
When he’s back inside however, you seem to still be in your deep slumber, seeing as there’s no sign of life around the lounge and no sounds coming from your room. Even for someone as capable as you, managing to prepare everything for that extravagant wedding must’ve been arduous work. He’s in no place to feel irritated at you. It impresses him – how you arranged everything within a limited amount of time, while also fulfilling your duties as a CEO.
Sukuna takes his jacket off and then begins to loosen his tie. After a day of shopping, nothing is better than taking a hot bath to relax the muscles. He can make use of that built in jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, and freshen himself up.
It doesn’t take long for the steam to begin rising from the water as the tub slowly fills up, bubbling up at the sides. He makes himself comfortable towards the edge of the tub, where he lets out a sigh and leans back - the water stopping at the comfortable level, being his chest. He slicks his moistened hair back, and something gets caught in his fingers as he does so.
Looking down at his hand, he sees that it’s a small, pink petal. It must’ve blended in well in his hair from the wedding, this entire time. Thinking of you, a sinister smirk makes its way upon his features.
How reassuring it is, to have a wife so capable. You’ll certainly be a useful asset for him to utilise in the future.
Perhaps a little difficult to crack open, but that’ll only make the end result all the more rewarding.
-
In the following morning, Sukuna wakes up to some noises outside of his room, and he figures that it’s you walking about after sleeping for almost a whole day, if that’s even possible. Doing a great yawn, he does a quick self-check in the mirror, and proceeds to step out of his room.
You’re latching a watch onto your wrist when the door to Sukuna’s room opens up, revealing the man with his hair down, wearing some loose, comfortable clothing. Having woken up very early, you had taken the time to get dressed after that well-deserved sleep you had.
“Good morning,” you tell him, while checking the tightness of the watch on your wrist.
Damn right he is. After sleeping for a day straight, you’re gonna ignore him again and go about your own business?
“Going somewhere?” he asks curtly, without greeting you back.
“Yes, in about two hours or so,” you say, wondering why he seems mildly irritated towards you today.
“I’m going to a piano concert. I doubt you’ll be interested, but you're welcome to join me.”
A piano concert? Shit sounds boring as hell. Of course you’d be interested in that.
Being invited under these premises… like being offered leftovers… he can’t help but feel a little displeased.
“You have a spare ticket?” he asks with a raised eyebrow.
“I always buy the seats at either side of mine. I’d rather not sit next to strangers.”
“I’ll go. I have nothing better to do around here anyway,” Sukuna says, with a voice that sounds like he’s doing you a big favour. Maybe he’ll take this chance to learn a thing or two more about you.
“Wonderful. I’ve also ordered room service for us, so we can have breakfast together if you’d like?”
That seems to have appeased him a bit, which forms a little smile on your face.
Perhaps around an hour and a half later, the two of you leave the hotel to head over to the auditorium, which requires only a short walk.
Sukuna trails behind you as you stride over towards your seats, where you’re able to make yourself comfortable. From this location in the auditorium, you catch sight of people clambering around towards their seats below. There’s still a bit of time left before the show begins.
He falls quiet for a few seconds, which makes you give him a discreet little glance.
“I’m surprised you actually came all the way out here with me,” you tell him, in order to strike up some sort of conversation.
“I figured that even a dull piano recital would be better than being stuck in my room all day,” Sukuna responds with nonchalance, crossing his legs.
“You wouldn’t know that it’s dull yet, would you? It hasn’t even started yet.”
“I guess you’re correct. You did prove me wrong before, after all.”
You make a quizzical expression at him, and a sly smirk creeps up onto his features.
“Your wedding dress. It was unique. Beautiful, even,” he admits.
A moment of realisation later, you let out a small chuckle.
He’s a little disappointed by that response. He’d like to catch you looking all flustered, one of these days.
“I’m glad you were able to learn something from our wedding,” you tell him.
“And of course,” he continues, “the one wearing it, even more so.”
“Why, thank you very much. You looked quite stunning as well. I knew that suit would compliment you nicely.”
The conversation is cut off when the concert begins with the lights dimming, as a pianist makes their way onto the large stage.
More than the music itself, Sukuna was finding that his attention was garnering towards your reactions more. You seem to be enjoying yourself.
…Though it wasn’t long before he was beginning to zone out a little, being easily disengaged with the concert, as he isn’t exactly one for piano music.
By the end of the show, you see that he is very eager to leave the auditorium. You can’t help the childish way the corners of your lips rise in response. He’s quite easy to read, at least when it comes to these smaller moments.
“Why don’t you get up on stage yourself next time? That’d be something more worthwhile to watch,” he says, bringing an image of you sitting before the large instrument up in his mind.
“You must be an avid fan of the piano,” Sukuna says with a grunt, as they leave the bustling area.
“Only casually, every now and then. Out of everything I was required to learn as a child, I liked the piano the most.”
“I’m flattered that you think so. But I prefer listening over playing it myself.”
Your words erase the image out of his mind.
The rest of the “honeymoon” goes by without much happening between the two of you, only quietly sharing meals together or the occasional drinking session; though neither of you were able to get drunk - due to being a tad too cautious around each other.
-
Your first day back at the office felt quite refreshing.
Everyone was busy, and the hotel’s wedding venues especially; as you had predicted, there was an overflow of requests coming in from couples who had seen the photos of your marriage on the website. They did come out very beautifully - almost like something out of a scene in a film. It was worth paying those photographers the good money.
At your desk, you scroll through the various article titles that have been published on several gossip sites – featuring the topic of your wedding mainly focusing on Sukuna.
[Sukuna, a CEO notorious for breaking the hearts of many actresses, gets married?]
[CEO of Malevolent Casino settles down for owner of Golden Rose Enterprise. A match made in heaven?]
[A womaniser reformed, CEO of Malevolent Casino enters wedlock!]
Oh, how you laughed until your stomach hurt. You can imagine the kind of face he’d make if he read any of these titles. The overwhelming attention is even better than you had expected. You even have a few interview requests from some of these gossip magazines. Doing a few of them wouldn’t hurt, would it?
The two of you have even set up a shared home, put together by Sukuna himself, just in case there comes a moment when you need it. Though you weren’t very happy about the design choices he’d made, when furnishing the place. For now, an agreement was made that living under the same roof together was not necessary.
Later in the day, you receive a call from the man himself.
“So, are you enjoying the fruits of our labour?” he asks as soon as you pick up.
“Yes, it truly is satisfying. Getting married at our venues seems to have become a little trend now,” you tell him proudly.
“Good for you. I hope you’re remembering your part of the deal, however,” he states with warning, “I’m yet to see any of those fruits growing on my end.”
You chuckle a little at his words.
“Of course I do. I have something in mind that will help with that,” you reassure him.
“But before we go into any detail for it…” you say, as you read over the email for an interview request on your computer screen, “let’s do one interview, about our marriage.”
You smile as you hear Sukuna make a little noise of grimace from his end.
-
“This better be worth doing,” Sukuna mutters, as he walks alongside you in the corridor, towards where the interview will take place.
“I wouldn’t suggest doing anything that’s a waste of time,” you tell him with confidence.
His expression of indignance doesn’t change.
“After all, it’s a good opportunity to have this attention on us last a little longer,” you add on.
“I already figured. Aren’t you mooching off of my image a bit too much?” he narrows his eyes at you.
“Oh, don’t be like that. I was thinking we could start the planning for that collaboration of ours soon. Wouldn’t that be to your liking?”
That seems to quell his discontent, for now. You open the door at the end of the corridor.
“The two of you have stirred the media up quite a bit through your sudden marriage! Please tell us your story on how you first met each other.”
The interviewer speaks to you and Sukuna with a bright smile, gesturing politely towards the vague direction between you both. Of course, you had prepared a little bit of a script for both yourself and him, but he’d brushed it off, saying that he was able to wing something like this easily.
“Well, our first meeting was-”
“It’s rather cliche, but we met at a bar,” he cuts you off abruptly. It catches you off-guard. You only hope that he won’t say anything unnecessary.
“I was the one that approached her, after catching her gaze from across where she sat,” he continues, crossing his legs. The excited interviewer types away on her laptop, recording his words.
“My! That does sound romantic. Please do give us more details.”
Sukuna does an excellent job at mixing the truth with his lies, and surprisingly enough, you’re the one sitting in silence as he does most of the talking while you act as backup to his story. It’s even better than the script you’d made up originally. He’s clearly picked up the skill to smoothly manipulate his stories.
“Our last question in the interview is directed towards the both of you. What compelled the two of you to choose each other for marriage? What do you love most about one another?”
A question that wasn’t on the damn script. They always love to sneak a few extras in like this. And technically that was two questions, not one. Sukuna is about to express his displeasure towards the interviewer, but you speak up before he does.
“I appreciated his very forward way of approaching me. How he’s difficult to read, granting him a more mysterious appeal. Arguably arrogant at times, but rightfully so, considering how clever and charming he is. For one second I was only a little intrigued by him, but then in the other…he’d suddenly become the apple of my eye.”
How do you say all of that without batting an eyelash? Part of him wonders if you perhaps meant any of it, even just a little.
“That is wonderful! I understand why you’d be infatuated. What about you, Mr. Ryomen? Did you also feel equally as captivated?”
He certainly won’t lose to you.
“...But of course. Her strong sense of independence. How competent she is. She mentioned that I’m difficult to read - but that hardly seems to be the case. She reads me like a book, and I find that so interesting,” Sukuna looks at you with a smirk and naturally places his hand over yours, squeezing lightly.
“It had been a while since I’d chased after someone rather than be chased – but that only made our relationship all the more sweeter.”
You’re impressed with how willingly he shot back at you, with his impromptu speech. The interviewer, oblivious, swoons as the two of you exchange smiles.
“There were nothing but satisfying answers during this session. Thank you so much for your participation!”
The interview is wrapped up nicely, and the two of you walk out after shaking hands with her.
Your insincere wordings are sickeningly sweet, like caramel, clinging onto him with its viscous texture.
“The apple of your eye, huh?” he goads, eyeing your response.
“Yes, my dear husband. The apple of my eye,” you repeat, with a relaxed demeanor.
“Very endearing,” he says – with venom in his tone.
A car awaits outside for the two of you, its engine already on and ready to drive off.
“While we’re here, perhaps we should talk about the event I’ve set up for us,” you tell him, fastening your seatbelt.
Sukuna opens his eyes instantaneously. He’s going to do… what?
“Go on, I’m listening,” he says, crossing his arms and resting his head back with his eyes closed.
“We’re going to do some volunteer work at an aged care facility,” you say bluntly, paying no mind to his dismissive posture.
Judging from that reaction, apparently not.
“Are you fucking around with me?”
“No? Actually, I was half expecting that you would’ve seen this coming.”
“This is still only phase one – improving your reputation. I’m even organising a few journalists to publish an article for us,” you tell him unapologetically.
He looks comically displeased.
“There’s a lot of guilt that follows when it comes to a hobby like gambling. It’s already considered a taboo, but with a company holding an unfavourable image like yours, newcomers are hesitant. Our partnership isn’t enough to put all of that behind,” you explain.
“And if I said no?”
“This isn’t for me more than it is for you.”
“You must be joking. How is taking care of some old fossils beneficial to me?”
“Let’s just say that it’s a ploy,” you start.
Sukuna rolls his eyes, despite knowing that you’re correct on that.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page.”
“Addicts are constantly looking for excuses to be addicted. What’ll happen if they believe you made this company for a good cause?”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it,” he scoffs, returning to his former attitude. “And I’m guessing you expect me to throw in a donation there too.”
Sukuna grunts with annoyance.
His aloofness resembles the behaviour of an unhappy child – but you don’t dare tell him that aloud.
“It’ll only be a few hours of work. Get a couple of good photos in and we’ll be done,” you say, sympathetically.
“How reassuring.” He doesn’t bother to look your way again.
-
Sukuna is used to doing things forcefully. If there’s something that he wants, he’ll pluck it out of the hands of another, regardless of if it’ll affect that person or not. If there’s a crowd of people around him, he’ll push and shove them out of his way, not caring whether someone gets trampled or not. And if there’s anyone that inconveniences him… he doesn’t hesitate to kick them down, until they’re crying on their knees for forgiveness.
And yet…. And yet…
Here he is, standing behind a table, wearing a tacky apron over his dashing suit as he dishes out soup for an old geezer, using a ladle. There’s a smile on his face, but a vein popping out on his forehead. The littlest inconvenience could make him lash out at somebody here.
He pours soup into the tray for the next elderly woman that is in line.
He wordlessly gives her a third scoop.
“More please,” she asks of him.
“Alright, sure,” he tells her, doing his best to sound friendly. Another scoop.
“Again,” she says.
“I want more!”
Her tray is already filled to the brim with soup, any more and she’ll end up spilling everything on her way to a table.
Sukuna is about to lose it.
She complacently walks off to find a seat somewhere, holding her tray.
“Ma’am, if you get any more, you’ll end up spilling it over. You can always come back for seconds. Promise we’ll still be here,” you butt in, before he blows over a fuse.
“Oh… alright then.”
You can barely contain the sigh that nearly spills out of your lungs.
“If you explain it to them clearly, they usually listen,” you tell him with a low voice, after she’s gone.
“Too bad I don’t wanna explain shit,” he very graciously responds.
Shortly after, you and Sukuna get your own portions of the same meals given to the elderly for lunch.
He kisses his teeth loudly and chucks his spoon down onto his tray, before getting up abruptly.
“Everything is lukewarm,” he comments, frowning.
“Can’t be helped. It’s a safety precaution, in case they burn themselves.”
You clearly note how the direction he heads towards is not where the restrooms are.
“Where are you going?”
“To the bathroom,” he lies without hesitation.
Fuck this whole event. Fuck this place. He considers leaving for a moment, but is quick to discard that idea, knowing he’ll hear no end of it from you afterwards. Only a few more hours to go, anyway. He steps outside, taking a quick scan of the area to make sure nobody is around before pulling a cigarette and lighter out from his pocket.
Lodging it between his lips, he uses his lighter against the end, but it seems to fail at producing any flames, adding on to his frustration.
He ignores you, because at this point, he knows nothing nice will come out of his mouth if he starts talking now. Why isn’t this goddamn thing working?
“Useless piece of shit,” he mutters, continuing his frantic attempts at the sparkwheel.
“Smoking is prohibited in this area,” a voice that he knows all too well comes from behind.
You stand beside him and hold something up with your hand. He sees that it’s a lighter.
He lights his cigarette, returns your lighter and then takes a big puff. He looks more noticeably relaxed.
“...You smoke?” he asks, taking it from your hand.
“Used to,” you tell him, crossing your arms.
“Just this once. Make it quick,” you tell him, looking around for people.
He lets out a short, curt hmph and blows another gust of smoke out.
“So what did you follow me all the way out here for? To babysit me?” Sukuna asks, still being quite moody about the situation.
“Looks like you already know. I thought it’d be best to keep an eye on you.”
He was going to shoot back with another snarky response, but a couple of voices could be heard coming from somewhere nearby. Before he can say a word on it, you’re suddenly grabbing his hand and dragging him away, elsewhere. The two of you end up in the area behind the building.
“Feel better now?” you say.
“Barely. Let’s finish this and go home already,” he grunts, dropping the cigarette butt onto the ground and putting it out with his foot.
“You should probably pick that up.”
All because of that… he thinks. Sukuna watches as you peer around the place, seeing if anyone is around again. A smirk slowly crawls up onto his face.
“Why the hell did we need to run? We could’ve just gone back in,” he says, raising an eyebrow.
“If they approached us, they would’ve smelled the smoke. You still reek of tobacco.”
“You sure that’s the only reason? Dragging me all the way here. By the hand, not to mention.”
He corners you against the wall behind you, trapping you between his arms.
“Who knows, I might even behave a little more if you help me relieve some stress,” he continues, looking down at you with sultry eyes. You don’t look flustered in the least, which kind of irks him.
To his confusion, you grab something out of your pocket. It’s packaged in plastic, and you make quick work to unwrap it.
His eyes then widen, when you grab his face and slip something inside his mouth, pushing it past his lips. Swiping his tongue over it, he realises it’s a mint lolly.
“Stop joking around, and chew on this instead. Maybe that’ll pipe you down,” you tell him, as you slip out from his trap by ducking underneath his arms. “And it’ll help get rid of the smell, while it’s at it.”
“Come. We’re going back inside.”
His eyes follow you as you begin walking back already without him. He even considers spitting this lolly down to the ground. But he doesn’t.
Sukuna was very dismayed once they had gotten back. They found that lunch break was over and there were dishes to be done. By them.
He gnaws on the lolly as he shoves the last tray into the dishwasher. It gets shut, and with the press of a button, it begins its work. Turning around, he sees you at the sink, manually washing some dishes up, because there’s only so much that a dishwasher can contain.
“Look at you, doing such a good job. You should do this professionally,” he comments, coming up from behind. He really has nothing serious to say today.
Your flat reply kills his playful banter immediately, and he can’t help but narrow his eyes as the last of the lolly melts away in his mouth. He aggressively puts on some rubber gloves and pushes you aside at the sink.
“Mind lending a hand?” you ask him, without looking back.
“I don’t know if I feel like helping.”
“Alright - don’t, then.”
There’s a smile that blooms on your face when you look at him in this moment, and it’s genuine, which is kind of rare, coming from you. Your reaction makes the dishes worth doing for just a bit, at the very least. He thinks.
“We’ll take years to get back home at your pace. Not doing it for you, so don’t misunderstand.”
“...Yes, I’m aware.”
Not long later, someone comes along inside – the same old lady that had asked for extra soup from Sukuna earlier on. He’s never been more appalled to see someone again.
“You missed this one!” she says, holding up a dirty spoon.
She approaches slowly, but somehow misses a step and stumbles a little, causing the spoon to smear over Sukuna’s suit, just below the shoulder area.
“Oh… dearie me. My legs don’t work the way they used to,” the woman mutters, looking down at her limbs. After dropping the spoon off in the sink, she pats him on the back.
“Sorry, young man,” she says, before trudging away again.
The two of you stand in silence, with Sukuna having a darkened expression on his face.
Your stifled laughter breaks it, and he whips around to see you enjoying this shitty situation.
“That hag…” he mutters, popping out a vein again on his forehead.
He hears another chuckle from you.
He’s left alone with his simmering anger for a few moments, until you come back holding a packet of wet wipes. Adjusting his position by grabbing his shoulders, you begin wiping away the…remnants of what was on the spoon from his clothes. He grimaces with disgust.
“Quit laughing! Fuck’s sake, I’m gonna leave-”
“Wait here,” you cut him off, degloving yourself.
“Alright then, as you wish.”
“You wore a dark colour today, so it should be fine.”
“Fine? Nothing will be fine until I get back at that old witch.”
“Don’t be like that to a frail old woman. I’ll buy you a new suit if it bothers you so much.”
“...Forget it. I can buy my own suits without your help,” he grumbles, getting back to the dishes.
After wrapping up the day with the remaining formalities, you and Sukuna exit the facility, into the car park. You crack another smile when he immediately takes his jacket off and chucks it at Uraume, who catches it gracefully, being accustomed to this sort of behaviour.
“Get it cleaned thoroughly. For now, I want it out of my sight,” he says sternly, loosening his tie. He wants to go home and shower. Never coming back to this godforsaken place again.
Just a few days later, the finalised draft of the article that is to be published online is sent to your email. It mentions the volunteer work you and Sukuna had done during the day, and also talks briefly about the generous donation that was given to the facility – just the way you’d requested them to. Sukuna won’t be too happy about the photos that show him wearing that apron, but it’s a well worth sacrifice to make. It's during these times, where you’re grateful for the connections you have with the media. You send them the approval email in response.
Once the article is published, you forward the link for Sukuna to see.
He skims through the blocks of uninteresting text on the site, and abruptly stops scrolling when he gets to the photos that have been added in.
There are key moments that had been photographed; when they were serving the food, when they were helping with the dishes, and when they shook hands with the one in charge of that facility. But the image that stands out to him the most, is the one taken when they were manually washing some trays together.
His own face isn’t visible because he has his back to the camera, but your genuine smile, as you’re looking at him, can be seen clear as day.
“The photographer deserves a raise,” he speaks to himself.
When’s the next time he’ll ever get an expression like that out of you again?
…He shuts his laptop screen down. It doesn’t matter, anyway. He’s not here to try and make you happy, after all.

I want to know, if you don't mind and if you feel comfortable, your honest opinion, from the bottom of your heart, why you choose zutara over kataang. I'm really curious to know an adult's perspective about this ship.
Hi,
Thanks for asking this. Hopefully, it's with genuine curiosity and not a means to find things to argue with or attack me over.... anyway... I've been thinking about this a little bit, and the answer is two-fold.
The short answer is that I pick Zutara over Kataang because I don't like Aang very much, and I do like Zuko; I think the characterization of both just lends itself more to an appreciation of Zuko and his redemption arc over Aang's hero struggle.
The long answer is a summation of the following:
Aang's a child in the series, not yet even a teenager, and I think we can all agree that he often displays his lack of maturity throughout the series in several places. Now, this isn't necessarily a fair argument to bring to the table, given that he would undoubtedly mature as he grew (we assume) and did some growing up, even during the series. That said, his age - his being younger than Katara, is another reason I prefer Zutara, because most of the time - at least when I'm writing them - the gaang are either in their mid-late teens or early twenties, and I think at those ages, most girls don't want to date someone younger than them. Partially, it's social conditioning, but developmentally, boys tend to be two years behind girls in regard to maturity, etc., so it's a big factor.
We see throughout the series that Katara goes for guys that are... shall we say, more "manly" than Aang? Jet is a sexy schmooze with mixed-up ideals, but he's older than her and well-fit. Haru is buff as hell and kind of adorable (before the mustache makes its debut, anyway). In that regard, Zuko is much more Katara's 'type' than a scrawny, short, skinny bald kid with arrows tattooed all over him. Also, I mean, she seems to prefer men with great hair, and Aang just doesn't fit the bill.
Aang is the Avatar and, by merit of being so, needs to put his connection to the spirits world, his responsibility to the physical world, and his role as an avatar before everything else, including worldly attachments. We see this throughout the series, wherein his unwillingness to let go of his attachment to Katara inhibits his chakra pathways and blocks him from entering the avatar state. We also see him finally choosing his responsibility over his love for Katara, and while that's the right thing to do for the sake of the world, I just think Katara deserves more than that. It's the embodiment of the uptick in a preference for falling for the morally grey villain over the hero because the hero will sacrifice you for the good of the world, while the morally grey villain will let the world burn as long as you're safe.
Now, you could argue that the above isn't fair because Zuko has responsibilities, too, in that he needs to take on the role of Fire Lord, but I think there's more room for love/romance/attachment in that role than there is in Aang's role.
Zuko is so much more interesting than Aang; I don't know how else to put it. He's got the tragic back-story, the anger issues, the redemption arc, that morally-grey-what-can-I-say-grey's-my-favourite-colour vibe about him, and he's just so much cooler and more mature. Like, yes, he has his moments of childishness and temper tantrums - as does Katara - but he's matured far beyond what we witness of Aang and it makes him a more likable character. An example of what I mean is probably best illustrated in the Southern Raiders chapter. Aang tries to impose his own ideals and morality on Katara when she's burning for revenge, which, while he's trying to encourage her to do the right thing, doesn't really suggest that he's supportive of her feelings. I found him quite dismissive in that chapter with his insistence that she just forgave the man who killed her mother without any attempt at growth or chance for closure. Meanwhile, Zuko just grabs his gear and goes with her to make sure she'll be safe and to support her in whatever decision she chooses to make. Yes, it might've meant that he would be an accessory to murder, but at least he was supportive. Also, his reaction to learning Katara can blood-bend - an insanely frightening ability when you really stop and think about it - is alarmed but then accepting, and it's just so much more palatable than the lecture I imagine she'd get from Aang if he learned she'd used the ability for harm and revenge.
There's too much of a brother-sister vibe between Aang and Katara - at least when it's shown from Katara's perspective - and it wigs me out that the writers put them together in the end. Throughout the series, Katara treats Aang much the same way she treats Sokka, often mothering him as opposed to seeming romantically inclined towards him. Whereas with Zuko through the entire series, there's the ongoing thread of parallels between their characters and the underlying unresolved sexual tension between them - put there intentionally BY THE WRITERS, I might add. Like throughout the series, we were SUPPOSED to be shipping Zuko and Katara; the intention was to have them end up together. It's only the last-minute switch of writers and/or change of heart to fulfill the "hero gets the girl" trope that made Kataang canon, and I just think it's a disservice to the characters, the fans, and the series in general, to backflip like that at the last minute for a lame reason.
I could probably go on - and have before, in GCs and sometimes on Tumblr, about the many reasons they're just better suited to one another, but you're probably bored by now, so I'll stop here. Hopefully, the above gives you something to think about and a better understanding of the reasons so many ship the two of them. If nothing else, it's got me thinking about my Zutara fics and maybe even planning an update.

Werewolves designs and other shit
Got bored- Remembered I have free choice to make posts on anything I want... So here I am with opinions no one asked for. As the title suggests, it's about werewolves. Starting off, I don't believe I need to explain what a werewolf is. However, I'll put it out there that in most descriptions and depictions it's meant to be a humanoid wolf. I say this because you'll find that in some movies or books it's just a person turning into a giant wolf with no human features or movement such as standing on two legs. (Or like a minotaur situation where the body is a human, but the head is a wolf.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here I've collected just human references and anatomy- This is so I can make comparisons and such. Humans vary heavily in the way that we look, due to things such as lifestyle and genetics. At base level, of course we're HUMAN. However, things like our body types, hair texture, eye colour or shape and yada yada all can change the way we look and create differences between us and somebody else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the same for wolves, though maybe not as noticeable compared to humans? Mostly things like their size, coat colour or thickness and etc is what separates them from one another. Looking at their head shapes also can show what species they may be. Generally, they're a pretty lean animal seeing as wolves are known for their running endurance to hunt prey. Being too big would slow them down... I mention this because some depictions of werewolves people make them too muscular in my opinion? It's like they're hairy body builders. Speaking of werewolves- Let me try draw this post back to where I started it! First I wanna look at almost shifted werewolves, so not fully transformed.
Tumblr media
(Also I will be using depictions and characters which aren't labelled necessarily as a ''werewolf'' but share many features or similarities. For example, Bigby from The Wolf Among Us.) The common things we usually see is an increase in hairiness, canine growth and eyes becoming highlighted- Usually yellow, though sometimes the werewolf maintains their natural eye colour. We also have ears becoming pointed and the area around the eyebrows and forehead starting to protrude more. All of these things when done right I enjoy in a werewolf design! Though, it's a given that some do it better than others... One of my favourite werewolf designs and transformations has to go to the movie An American Werewolf In London.
Tumblr media
This to me is one of the PEAKS of werewolves in media. I could probably make a full post on just this movie... It's one of the most iconic designs and for good reason. Not to mention, I love practical effects, especially in horror. One of my dreams is to make a movie with them. Enough gushing though. What do I like? Well, it's grotesque nature really. A transformation shouldn't just be BAM you're a ball of fur in my eyes. The amount of change is crazy and so glossed over.
Tumblr media
The transformation literally has bones extending along with all the muscles and tissues alongside. Don't even get me started on what the organs may have to be doing? A human heart could not support a werewolf body, it just wouldn't be big enough... That muscle would literally have to increase in size to be able to deal with the power behind the body of a wolf. Yes, I'm aware they're supernatural and I shouldn't try heavily to apply science to them... However, I don't care? A TRANSFORMATION WOULD BE HORRFIC AND PAINFUL, SO IT SHOULD BE SHOWN AS SUCH! It's also why I headcanon that turned werewolves have the chance of just dying straight up with their first transformation, compared to ones just born as a werewolf because of how extreme the change is. Anyway! Some more designs.
Tumblr media
I think what some suffer from, is leaning either too close to a human and or leaning too close to a wolf? They can't find a balance and at times it's like a worse rendition of the Cats movie.
Tumblr media
Like here, the werewolves from The Quarry almost lean into some classic vampire depictions. The teeth I like! But the lack of hair and flatter snout just means it's not really screaming WEREWOLF at me.. More so a general mutant. (QUICK ADD! A flatter snout doesn't always break a design. It's just when other features such as hair are also lacking that it starts becoming less wolf in nature to me.) We've also got a more recent werewolf to look at... Which is Enid from the Wednesday show. Because fucking hell, that was a disappointment? She ended up looking like a mix between the Ice Age baby and Diego the saber tooth tiger.
Tumblr media
They did her so fucking dirty... And it would actually be very simple to fix! This could be salvaged- It just wasn't. Somebody saw that design and green lit it and whoever you are, why? I think I'll end this here now because I've reached the image limit... If anyone has any questions about certain things I've mentioned, feel free. I also want to state that this is pure opinion and by no means supposed to spread hate towards anything? It's your world, if you wanna draw your werewolves like the Sims 4, who am I to stop you? THIS IS MAL OUT! AND IF YOU'VE READ ALL OF THIS YOU'RE SOMEHOW MORE UNHINGED THAN I AM CURRENTLY. (I MAY MAKE A PT 2 AS I DO HAVE MORE THOUGHTS AND MENTIONS TO MAKE.)

Floral Arrangements (Thorin x gn!reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: I have been working on this for ages but couldn't finish it, so here is part one. Hopefully I can get on to writing part 2 soon if people are interested.
The reclamation of Erebor by the company of Thorin Oakenshield had come with mixed emotions for (Y/N). You were excited to return to your childhood home with your two brothers. The three of you were given standard family quarters and small allowance to help you to settle in. The only downside was that so many who returned were also skilled in dressmaking, crafting, and forging leaving the three of you out of the job. To honour your fathers’ memory, the oldest of your brothers joined the royal guard, fulfilling your fathers’ old position. Both you and your youngest brother had no desire to follow suit.
Instead, the two of you decided to set up your own business outside of a stall in the market square. Flowers were neither common nor traditional in gifting practice within Longbeard culture. But the two of you were counting on the clans’ heavy involvement in the human world. It wasn’t uncommon for dwarves to adopt foreign human practices, even those of gifting and courting means. Thus, the two of you decided to adopt and adapt.
You took care of the purchasing, finances, displays and arrangements for the stall. There was limited private garden space within the mountain and requests for a private plot outside of the mountain for flower growth going unanswered, you had resorted to buying fresh flowers from a farmer just outside of Dale. Your fresh floral arrangements and bouquets proved popular enough amongst the mountain residents and its visitors, but they certainly were not what set your business apart.
The true jewel of your enterprise was the flowers crafted of precious metals and jewels of the most vibrant hues you sold. A sign of un-wilting and passionate love was the motto associated with them. Such a product was much more suited to the nature of dwarven love and courtship. You designed singles, arrangements and bouquets while your brother brought them to life.
With the introduction of said product, the popularity of the stall had doubled. The word had soon spread of the glittering creations and dwarves from across the seven kingdoms travelled to visit your stall. Within its first year and a half of operation its notability had grown to such heights that you were able to move from a stall to a rather comfortable store. This notability had additionally brought the attentions of the royal family upon you.
It was a warm afternoon when you received word from a steward that Princess Dis would be stopping by to look at your wares. After his departure you had bustled around the store preparing for the royal visit. A visit by a member of the royal family to look at your joint creations was incredibly humbling. Your bustling was disrupted by the sound of a customer entering the store. Peering up from where you knelt behind the counter you were shocked to see Princess Dis herself was already here.
“Pardon my lady, I was not expecting you yet” you politely greeted while stumbling up to your feet. “There’s no need please” Dis gestured at you kindly to continue what you were doing. “How can I be of service to you? Would you just like to browse or were you looking for something in particular” you gently prodded. The last thing you wanted was to drive away a customer like Dis Durin by being overbearing and pushy.
“I’d heard of the brilliance of your jewelled flowers and decided to come and have a look at the crafts myself” she praised glancing around, “do you make them yourself?” “No Ma’am. I design and arrange them, but my brother is the one who crafts them” you answered in earnest. “Well, you are both truly talented. The delicacy with which your brother has crafted them and your eye for colour are truly well paired together” she praised. Embarrassed by the praise you bowed your head in thanks and smiled shyly at the Princess in return.
Dis fluttered gracefully about your store for the next half hour inspecting the different florals on display, making conversation with you as she went. Eventually though she asked about whether you took custom orders. The two of you had never actually made a specified custom order for a client, instead you typically just sold the premade stock. Every piece was one of a kind so most customers were content by the uniqueness that the piece they choose offered. However, this was the future Queen mother, the honourable Lady Dis which had ruled in Thorin’s stead while he was on the quest to Erebor. So, you agreed that the two of you would be happy to make her a custom piece. Dis had been excited by the offer and promised to come back in several days’ time to plan out what she would like. With her departure you shut up shop and rushed home to tell your brothers of the great news.
  ----Several days later ----
You hadn’t seen nor heard from the Princess. You both were disappointed that Dis hadn’t followed through and placed an order but kept your heads up. After all the reason that you had moved to the shop was because of the influx of other noble and rich customers. Instead of dwelling on Dis’ missed order, you carried on organising and designing to pull your previous customers back.
It was late one evening while you were preparing to close the shop for the evening when a surprise visitor appeared in your shop. With your back to the doorway, you had failed to hear the quiet footsteps making their way up behind you. It was the unfamiliar gruff tone of a clearing throat that alerted you to the other presence. Whipping around you stepped back in surprise. Before you stood Thorin, Son of Thrain, son of Thror, King under the Mountain.
Remembering your manners, you were quick to greet and bow to the King with all of the Court courtesies you had been taught as a child. Thorin nodded in acknowledgement of the respectful gesture as you rose. “My sister visited you store a few days ago and has been raving about the crafts you sell ever since” the King began, “I convinced her out of investing in one because my nephews and I would like to get one for her birthday.” You smiled broadly as you dwelled on the King’s words. Princess Dis had not forsaken your store nor had forgotten your arrangement. Instead, she had gushed about to the rest of the royal family.
Switching back into business mode you got straight to work, “Were you interested in buying one of our premade arrangements or were you looking to commission a custom piece as your sister was looking into?” Almost instantly Thorin answered, “a custom, if you are free now then I would like to go over the details while I have time.” His curtness took you slightly off guard, but you tried not to let it show, “of course, I will just close the shop front so that nobody comes in and disturbs us. Then we can begin.”
You had been quick to close the shop front as you had done many other nights and then led the king to your workstations in the rare of the shop. After settling in you had questioned him rigirously about what he was looking for. From the types of flowers, sizing, number, types of jewels, and colouring of the joinery the two of you had discussed it all. Thorin’s demeanor had relaxed the more the two of you spoke, seeming almost as if he was enjoying the informalities of the conversation. He had even asked personal questions of you while you had jotted down notes of the details, he fed you; who had come up with the idea for the shop, how many of you run it daily, where you had lived during the clan’s refugee years, if many of your family members had been able to return to the mountain, your age, and even if you were married.
By the end of it you had come up with a comprehensive plan of what the Durin’s were looking to have done for the matriarch. You promised Thorin that over the next few days you would come up with several design compositions to showcase to him. He smiled warmly at you and promised to return in a few days’ time as he bid you, his farewells. Giddily, you found yourself looking forward to a visit from the mountain king, a man truly unobtainable to you due to his status and yet had asked about your marital status out of curiosity. A dwarf could dream.

Aside from Herbie's partial heterochromia, do you headcanon any other physical conditions, mutations or disabilities with the Moonbase Crew?
Aaaaa!! Okay so;
Canon stuff out of the way; Patton has a cleft chin, Herbie has a double chin, glasses, overbite, and braces, and Fanny has freckles (though I imagine her with a lot more than she has in canon jgnjf)
Rachel has a lot of moles on her body, three specifically on her face.
Rachel also starts getting major eye bags once she becomes supreme leader. Even after becoming a teen she has an awful sleep schedule so there’s no chance she’d be able to get rid of them as an adult.
Fanny starts developing lines around her eyes as a late teen, and has noticeable crows feet by the time she’s in her midlife.
I’ve given all four of them heterochromia because I love colouring heterochromia and I think it looks cool (It started with just Fanny, than I gave it to Rachel, then I said ‘fuck it’s and gave it to Patton and Herbie as well)! Both Patton and Herbie have partial heterochromia in one eye each. Patton has green eyes and the top half of his right eye is blue, and Herbie has purple eyes and the top half of his left eye is red (in a more realistic world, it would probably be blue and a reddish brown). Rachel has partial heterochromia in both her eyes, in which the top half of them are brown and the bottom half are a deep purple (again, more realisticly it would most likely be dark blue.) Fanny has complete heterochromia; her right eye is green and her left is orange (again again, would realistically be a light brown).
Herbie had disastrously crooked teeth, like painfully so, which is why he has braces now.
Patton has a fractured tooth, which happened during his cadet training. His parents have tried to convince him to get a fake tooth but he refuses.
Rachel has a tooth gap that started out small but got wider over time. She absolutely hated it when she was younger and beg her parents to take her to get it ‘fixed’ but they never did (mostly because her dad also has a tooth gap and he was offended she hated it so much). Eventually she ‘got over it’, but she still doesn’t like people giving attention to it.
Fanny has ‘fangs’, which are just her slightly sharper canines protruding irregularly (snaggle-tooth). Fanny doesn’t really care much about her appearance so she’s never thought about getting them fixed. The only time the idea crossed her mind was when her mother raised concerns about possible dental hygiene issues, but ultimately neither of her parents thought it was a big enough deal to get them fixed.
Rachel is a tad bit underweight, because she grew up with only one proper meal a day and now as supreme leader she has the habit of skipping meals entirely unless she’s eating with friends.
Patton went through some early puberty. The most noticeable side effect was his voice getting deeper and growing side burns.
Herbie’s body in general is just, a bit of a struggle for him. He has a poor immune system so he gets sick realky easily (which is why he avoids doing field missions and prefers working behind a screen). His growth has also been stunted because of said tendencies to be sick and a lack of a nutritional diet (single dad who does NOT know how to take care of a kid!! But he’s trying… not well but still trying).
Both Fanny and Patton get injured regularly, which will definitely cause problems for them in the future.
Patton starts suffering hearing loss in one ear during his late teens/early adulthood, and ends up with a hearing aid.
Rachel needs glasses. She didn’t wear them at all as a kid because her vision issues were not major enough for people to really notice, but she’d start wearing reading glasses as a teen because her eyes got worse. And then her eyes would get even worse so she’d wear glasses regularly as an adult, though she’d prefer wearing contact lenses.
Patton has asthma and thinks it’s SUPER embarrassing and tried to hide it when he joined the KND. Obviously he couldn’t keep it hidden for long, but in present times the only people who know are the rest of the mooncrew.
Fanny is allergic to penicillin (this has no reasoning it’s just pure projection LMAO)

irt the sera discussion from yesterday I would like to add that she's also dismissive of city elven culture—it just doesn't come up as much bc inquisition does its very best to ignore city elves' existence. the most memorable example for me is a quote from her WOT entry—"stupid tree. didn't go, didn't stay" or something like that. You're definitely right, her whole deal is just internalized racism, it's not strictly prejudice against the dalish like some people claim lol. (I believe anneapocalypse has a meta on this exact subject actually) very frustrating that there's barely a hint of growing out of it though—if it were some other flaw, maybe id be fine with it (I do love when characters get worse.), but given that it's a white writer writing internalized racism. well. but that's a subject that's been meta'd to death by better writers than I.
yeah, i love @anneapocalypse's sera meta, it was very compelling to think about!!! and idk! unfortunately, i DO know people irl who are like this (and don't seem to be getting any better about it). again, on its own, i think there's a lot of value to sera's story, even if it's not my story - the problem comes when we look at specific details in sera's writing and how her writing fits into the overall portrayal of elves - and dalish cultures, as well as city elves which as you've pointed out are almost entirely erased in dai which is truly horrific when you are directly dealing with the aftermath of the slaughter of thousands of elves in WEWH.
from that perspective, coupled with how minimal sera's growth is (especially if you're a lavellan that didn't romance her but had to deal with her internalised racism with no way to call it out as the PC without resorting to ableist insults) (and i use minimal here not to discount that her growth exists but how tiny it is compared to what we have to face in-game in terms of her internalised racism, and how most of her growth is shoved into codex entries or into trespasser and even then it's a couple of throwaway lines, at best)... it starts to feel a lot less like a well-intentioned portrayal of internalised racism, with some hits and misses, with the intention of resolution and self-love being the outcome.
and again, what IS IT with bioware and having their white characters dealing with fantasy racism??? like, i'm sorry, but sera is literally white. there's a black woman IN GAME and no one even ACKNOWLEDGES that racism/colourism towards her exists except for one tiny banter with cole for a SPLIT SECOND... and vivienne, a black woman growing up in a heavily andrastian-influenced circle of magi with chantry values... literally has no character arc... even though she's a black woman supporting incarceration of her own people... but the white elf's got an entire arc about internalised racism???????????????? what is the narrative reasoning behind this???
AND ANOTHER THING! the issues with sera are also an issue present with a lot of the other characters in dai - you discuss slavery once with dorian, where he gets defensive of it, and even as a lavellan romancing him, it never gets brought up again until bloody tevinter nights, which isn't even in-game material. you can't argue with cassandra to disseminate the cure for tranquility or get to change her mind on ANYTHING; you can't argue with cullen about mages; you can't argue with vivienne about the circles (not with actual logical arguments with any kind of nuance, which is a limitation OF THE GAME when they can give vivienne lines of nuance for her arguments for why the circle should exist); you can't argue with varric's centricism, etc, etc. even if you do get to confront them, it's one or two lines that are then mysteriously never touched on again in game. in da:o and da2, they didn't do this well either, but at least they had leliana come up to an elven warden after they correct her to apologise - there's clearly an acknowledgement of where she went wrong, and an intention to be better, etc, which is SUCH a fascinating writing direction. you don't have that in... any of the other games. none of the characters are allowed to be wrong, unless they're pushing for justice or equality or freedom in which case they will do something evil (like slavery or mass murder) to make you doubt the validity of their argument. instead they're representations of a specific stance and you're expected to just accept what they say as fact - which is incredibly ironic for a game that hides most of it's deep lore via conflicting codex entries for a sense of realism when it comes to reporting real life events.
it's incredibly exhausting.

Hiii han for the sleepover asks:
1. Do you have rosekiller domestic hc?
2. If you had to describe yourself with a colour what would it be and why?
3. Fmk Barty James and Regulus
hello mar!!
1. here are my domestic rosekiller hcs:
- evan actually really enjoys cooking meals for the two of them, even if barty is an absolute nuisance in the kitchen. always stealing kisses and slapping his ass. stirring whatever is in the pot and pretending like he knows exactly what he’s doing (secretly he does know what he’s doing, but he loves when evan cooks for him, and evan is more than happy to indulge him <3)
-barty is a stress cleaner! he’s not always tidy, actually rather frequently he outright refuses to make the bed or will forget to wash his dishes, but then he goes and has one minor inconvenience and evan will come home to the couch on the other side of the room and the pantry reorganized by the color of each item.
-save water, shower together. there’s not a single chance you’ll find either of them showering on their own. they say it’s for the environment, but truthfully they are just severely connected at the hip, and barty wants any excuse to see evan naked
-evan will (and does) steal the same hoodie of barty’s anytime he is cold. might as well be part of his closet at this point. and before they actually started dating, barty would go out of his way to make sure it was clean every time evan came over even if it meant forking over four extra dollars worth of quarters and dealing with the bitchy lady at the laundromat (i did, in fact, include this hc in like smoke behind glass)
-i have it on good authority that for valentine’s day barty tried to bake evan a heart shaped cake (vanilla with raspberry jam and vanilla bean frosting), but he fucked it up real bad and forgot the LITERAL SUGAR but evan still plastered on the fakest damn smile and told him he was proud of barty
(i’m realizing i could go on for ages about this so i might make a whole other post dedicated to even more of them, but i’m going to cut myself off there)
2. i’d probably say sage green best represents me because green represents growth, and over the past few years i’ve really worked on growing into a person that i love and appreciate. it’s also very calming and associated with nature, which i do find immense peace in!
3. THIS IS A HORRIFIC QUESTION THAT I HAVE AN UNFORTUNATE ANSWER FOR
fuck james because yeah, okay, i have thoughts about that man.
marry barty like hate to break it to you my guy, we’re gonna be stuck together. that’s my ride or die right there.
kill (covering my eyes, plugging my ears, and ducking for cover) regulus for no other reason than that man would hate my guts wholeheartedly (reg i love you i promise i do it’s just a question please).

7-12-16-23 for Silver, Espio and Blaze? (that’s twelve questions I am so sorry)
No worries, I am currently ill at home and have gathered enough energy to tackle it ^-^
Silver:
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Oh dear.😅 Oof, let's see here... I think that for a side character in a large extended cast, Silver is actually quite popular, and people are warming up to him more and more. At least, in polls that feature him and such he always seems to do quite well? And he's also got a lot of fanart and attention dedicated to him! So that is something that I like: the fact that he's generally well-liked. It's definitely a step up from 2006!
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
My very epic headcanon was that he is left-handed, but I seem to have disproven that myself, haha. Another one I have is that with every new season that rolls around, he claims it is his favourite: winter for the snow and cozy times, spring for the new life and pretty flowers, summer for the warm temperatures and long sunny days, and autumns for its colours and epic storms. He just can't make up his mind which one he likes best: he loves it all similarly.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
I don't think I have one; there are many that I am not interested in, but those don't show up so much anyway and I don't have anything about them that I hate, so I just ignore them.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
I can't just pick one, come on!!
Tumblr media
I'll take this one because I love the pastel-like colouring, but rest assured I like many more!
Espio:
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I think people overall have a relatively good grasp on his "place" within the Chaotix: the "straight man" of the team who similarly still is equally silly as the others. I always like seeing that: it's funny because Espio treats it so seriously, haha.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
He can be a bit of a mother hen, being the person most concerned with their finances, ensuring they have enough food, and raising Charmy into a responsible adult. Vector is the face of the Chaotix and the one Espio and Charmy follow, but behind the scenes Espio is the one who helps make sure everything runs smoothly and they're all cared for as best they can.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Same for Silver: none. It probably helps that I just concern myself most with Espilver and I don't do too much outside that, haha.
23. Favorite picture of this character?
Also here picking one is difficult😅
Tumblr media
I'll go with this one because I think it very nicely shows the Chaotix household, and I also like seeing Espio write with a brush.
Blaze:
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Hmm, I'm trying to think of something, but I don't engage so much with fan content about Blaze, to be quite honest. Though, people who like the Rush series and those who know of and appreciate how hilariously broken Blaze is in those games compared to Sonic when it comes to her jumping ability are always nice to see!
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
The reason she's so bad at cooking is because of her impatience: she can control the fire she uses to cook well, it's just that she deliberately makes them go too hard/quickly in order to be finished more quickly. But that usually just means things get burned instead. If she's got someone to help her out and distract her in the kitchen, it'll come out much better.
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Also none ^-^
23. Favorite picture of this character?
This might perhaps be odd, but I adore some of her sprites from Rush!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think they masterfully managed to capture Blaze's growth from closed-off and grumpy person who isolated herself her whole life into someone who knows that she can rely on others, and who appreciates her new friends. She's just so cute when she smiles! I love how Cream in Rush even deliberately draws attention to it. And the memories I have of the story around them makes seeing the sprites all the sweeter!

Hello! I'm tired and did an analysis/my thoughts for fun. I want to talk about this artwork!
(Every DRA character mentioned below, incase you blacklist)
Tumblr media
I have so much to say about this artwork! Positive things only here! They're all together! And all wearing their tags that glow (lol). So this is going to be a rant! I love all these characters sm.
I'm going through this left to right.
Tumblr media
First of, KDMSKSNSKSNNSNZMZMZNMZNZNS
so many FEELINGS
I got so much to say about this.
Okay first of MIKAKO. SHE LOOKS AMAZING! She's smiling! SHE'S HAPPY! I was so used to official art of her with the bags so looking at this Mikako brings me so much joy. She looks a lot more mature, it's great! Love her purple colour! I also like how her hair is similar to Kokoro, I think that's fun! I just love her. And she's next to YAMATO!
(amazing transition)
OKAY YAMATO. Looking as dramatic as ever (how big is his coat??). Even his tie is dramatic! AND HIS HAND IS ON TSURUGI DNMSKSKSKDJDN. Damn that's so sweet, oml. Look at his smile, he's so happy. And his blue is a very nice shade too! It's really rare for Yamato to have artwork cause he's the spoiler character, so seeing him finally get some along side others is so nice! And now.
TSURUGI! TSURUGI! He gets to be coloured in. Good for him. AND HE'S SMILING! it's so rare for SDRA2 Tsurugi to smile. This is so nice. (Also he's surrounding by his most popular ships lol-)
NOW KINJI! Walking by Tsurugi's side! Which makes a lot of sense, as I believe it's canon that Kinji was the one who helped Kinjo the most with his morals in his school life, so seeing them next to each other is so sweet. (I'm going to say sweet a lot, aren't I?) AND LOOK HIS DESIGNNN. HIS HAIR! (Ponytail Kinji we stan- jk jk) But still! He doesn't look like an old man lol. And he's still carrying his Bible. (Which makes sense, being a priest is a 24/7 job afterall, and he looks like he's still wearing his priest clothing underneath, which a priest is required to wear all the time, at least in western countries.) The white for him makes sense! I like it a lot! He just looks so good in this.
AND YUKI "UTSURO" MAEDA! Now I'm 90% sure this is Utsuro living as Yuki if the Chapter IF ending means anything (and his lack of ahoge) WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT IN THIS PIC CAUSE LOOK! Tsurugi is in his wheelchair (an outdated wheelchair, definitely will redesign that personally) and he can definitely push himself around if he wanted but he's letting YUKI of all people push him. Like I believe Tsurugi would easily push himself, he's still very capable, but I think that fact that Yuki is pushing him shows growth in Kinjo. Like the Kinjo at the end of Chapter IF did not like Utsuro, and literally tried to shoot him down. But the fact that he must have grown, developed as a person and not have his black white view, him letting yuki, aka utsuro the man who almost got his friends killed, being right behind him shows trust in my opinion. It's also a reference to how in Canon Yuki and Tsurugi were close (before all of chapter 6 happened). I just find it so so sweet. Yuki looks so boring in design but that fits him well. Also brown oddly suits him!
These four are so cute in this image. I might add more if I feel necessary later.
Now next part!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM!
Ready for Kizuna, Mitch and Kiyoka!
(I know Kizuna and Mitch make people uncomfortable so you can skip these two paragraphs)
KIZUNA! She looks like her Mum! Similar to how Mikako looks a bit like hers. But I love the fact that it seems she is arguing with Mitch or something, that so funny. I love her design here, it's so nice, and this shade of pink is really fitting! Love the stars! And the small scarf. She looks great here!
And now MITCH! He such a character oml. Mitch has always had one of my favourite designs, I found his design really shows his personality along his facial expressions (they're so funny, I love them so much). And he looks great here! His new hairstyle, while still similar to his previous and the added addition of sunglasses are so good. And his current expression says it all. The fact that he must have annoyed Kizuna in some way is so funny. Hands in pockets and looking away. And his outfit is one of my favourite in this line up, it's nice that LINJU gave him a good design here, and it's also matching Kiyoka! Meaning they probably work together in the same division! The Blue obviously suits him well here.
KIYOKA MAKIIIII! LOOK AT HERRR!!! THE SHORT HAIRRRR. She look so good in shirt hair. Honestly when I first saw this last year it took me a while to figure out that this was Kiyoka haha. I really didn't expect the haircut! It looks so good on her! And I have a lot to say! Firstly! The way she holds her gun! She looks happy, content and confident! Which probably means that after Chapter IF she learn to appreciate her talent as it helped her friends! DJJSKSKK. Super sweet! And the faded red! Not the colour I expect for her but looks really really good! She looks so good!
And now for-

SCREAMSANDCRY
SUNSHINE TRIO SJKSKSKDJSKDM
LOOK AT THEM
LOOK AT THEMMM
ehem
Okay it's the trio and I have so much to say!
Well actually first off, not much about Teruya, as I want to talk about him more later. But an interesting detail is that Haruhiko's goggles are cut off, or simply not there. Which I mean, makes sense, in Chapter IF he has no reason to wear them here. (But it's sad his dad is still dead here). But yeah, I going to talk more about him later.
And now HARUHIKO! Goodness his design is so good here. Definitely my favourite redesign here. His new goggles, his scarf, fingerless gloves, everything he is wearing! It's really unique, and I believe it implies his talent is important to the foundation here. Which I'll go on later when talking about other stuff. His arm around Teruya, dksmksndkd. And the yellow is great!
IT'S SATSUKI TIME! She looks adorable here! She so happy here! Her hair is really fitting, it looks bouncy. Her design is simple but her personality in her pose makes her stand out! She and Haruhiko seem to be saying something to Teruya together. Which is sweet! Also! I only noticed recently but Satsuki and Haruhiko are wearing rings! They're married! (Which means they're probably mid to late-20s, cause getting married earlier then that is a bit early for most people, but then again, I can see them doing that. But that also means that Traffic Light Group are probably mid 20s. (Meaning that it's been almost a decade since their killing game, which lines up with the Chap 6.5 timeline)). But hey, a win for Haruhiko and Satsuki shippers (teruhiko Saddness lol). But ay, still sweet! The pink is lovely! Very soft!
They're all together! So sweet! I love this! Snksndksndnd
And now finally!
Tumblr media
AHHHHH SKSMDJKDMDN
YOOOOOOO
OKAY first off AYAME AND AKANE DKDNKSDNKD
But first Ayame!
Her design is sooo good here too! Her hair in a ponytail is a so expressive and a nice change! She is also wearing a scarf! So many scarves here lol. She looks so sweet here! The red is brilliant too! She looks so good here! She looks so happy talking about whatever she's talking about! So good! And she's a next to Akane djjskdnsksm. I also think her arm is behind her head, making her look really relax, and it's nice to see her like that!
Akaneeeeee! I oddly really like her maid like design here. It oddly looks more mature, maybe because it's just apron! And I love her hair, with it tied down at the very end. She looks really content here. It's so sweet. Like she's really happy for once! She just looks so calm, and looks like she belongs. Also her cream (?) Colour is so nice, reminds me of Sora slightly. A very nice colour for her! I love all her bows too! And she's not only next to Ayame but next to Rei! (Who she got like, stabbed for in canon, and I know that doesn't happen in IF, it's still a nice reference).
Now Rei! Not much to say! But she's happy and smiling! Ayyyyy! I really loved Rei redesign, always have, it shows professionalism while still a lot of personality. Goodness she looks great! But not much else to say!
But I have a lot to say about THEM! Chapter 3 victims my beloved!
KANATA! She didn't get a growth spurt like Teruya haha, she's still so smolll. But she grew out her hair! I like how hair shows change here. She looks so happy, talking about whatever and seems so happy while doing so! The cyan looks so good for her too! She deserves so much. Her coat looks good too! And she's next to KAKERU!
Finally Kakeru! Look at him! He's blushing! He's happy! His hair looks great haha. I like how he's helping my carrying who knows what. But he looks so much more like a lawyer here haha. The black obviously suits him well. And I oddly like his glasses a lot. He looks so good here too! Him and Kanata together is so sweet.
Goodness this all so good. I love all of this
And now some extra notes!
------
So something interesting is how there is definitely a difference in jobs,
Mitch, Kiyoka, Haruhiko and Ayame seem to have more hands on jobs, with their Kisaragi emblem sewed on their clothing. The first two seem to be similar to Ryutaro and Keisuke, Haruhiko is probably with planes, and not too sure about Ayame (I'm going to need to find that list of their occupations in Chapter IF).
Everyone else has a tag instead, and implied more paper work. Lol.
Okay and now. I want to talk about the two (imo) saddest things about this piece. First the second saddest thing.
Tumblr media
(Haruhiko move this isn't about you)
Now there are multiple things sad about this, first off is NOOOO TERUYAAAA WHY ARE YOU COLOURED NOOOO WHYYY, WHYYY DID YOU GOO SKSJDJWKSNKKSKSKS, NOOOOO.
Damn his character always brings me on the verge of tears. But yeah, he's coloured green, cause we know what happens in Sdra2 (crys) and yeah.
But a detail that struck me odd is that out of everyone in this lineup (besides Kizuna and Mitch who are arguing) he's the only one not smiling. Now he looks suprise and all but honestly I would have expected him to be smiling alongside Haruhiko and Satsuki. But he isn't. He looks, not really surprised but almost confused. Like what just happened was unexpected, and not like oh wow that surprised me but like what is going on/this isn't meant to be happening. Which I think is meant to reference that he had only died recently. Like he even has a sweat drop! Which means a lot in this sort of artstyle. Teruya it's okay, you are with your friends now. Like this is so sad to me. Maybe not to you all but it's sad to me
And now the saddest thing about this piece of art.
The existence of the second piece.
Tumblr media
RJJSKSNDJSKDKKDKSKSKDKDKKDKDKDKDKDKKDKDKDKSKSJJS
Nooooooooo
THEY'RE NOT SMILING
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOII
This is so sad oh my goodness. Djjdksksksk
Yeah I don't need to explain this. You all get this.
This was barely an analysis, more like my thoughts. But damn these pieces are definitely some of my favourite ones.
Welp, thank you for coming to my ted talk. Not going to proof read this. May reblog with more info later!

Journal Entry #60 // STORY INDEX
Yuri
Hello everyone! Guess where we are!
If you guessed Sulani, then you'd be correct. I suppose the golden sand and gorgeous blue ocean behind me were a giveaway, weren't they? I couldn't resist recording my final entry out here on the deck of our rented beach house. It seems fitting somehow to end our journal in the place that inspired the creation of it; beautiful, magical Sulani.
Victor and I talked about whether or not we wanted to continue documenting our lives once we relocated to Willow Creek, and we agreed that it's time to close the curtain on this particular show. Our journal has served us well. It’s allowed us to work through some very difficult thoughts and feelings, and I believe it's helped us grow, or at least helped us to mark our growth. But, we both feel we've moved beyond it now. We want to focus on new and different things.
Still, I had to make one last video, just to tell you about my big reward. Yes, our adventure in this tropical paradise is indeed the thing I hinted about in my previous entry.
Of course you know we were planning to travel here anyway, but Victor came up with the plan that we should go as soon as we could after I completed my sixty consecutive days of being formula-free. He pitched the idea to my parents, who are paying for the trip, and they thought it was brilliant. I successfully made it to my sixtieth day on October first, and we left Willow Creek on the fourth.
The timing turned out to be excellent, as our first wedding anniversary was yesterday, the eighth of October. I couldn't have asked for a more fitting way to celebrate it.
Yesterday morning, Victor woke me up early so we could watch the sunrise together. Then, we packed a picnic breakfast and walked along the beach until we found the perfect spot to enjoy it.
Later in the morning, we went on an ocean sightseeing tour. I'd never been in a boat bigger than a dinghy or canoe before, and I'd never been out on the ocean. At first I was nervous, but it didn't take me long to relax, and I discovered that I quite like boats.
Our tour guide said that we might see merpeople. I wasn't sure if he was joking or not, but Victor seemed convinced. He still swears he met a real merman when he was here last time.
I probably don't need to tell you that we didn't actually see merpeople, but that didn't diminish the tour in any way. In one place, we sailed past an inactive volcano, and in another place the water was so clear that we were able to look over the side of the boat and see a coral garden and dozens of brightly-coloured fish. We saw dolphins too, and they didn't seem afraid of humans. They swam right up to the boat, nearly close enough to touch.
I'll admit I kind of fell in love with them. Last night, Victor got online and found a place where people can swim with dolphins. We're going there tomorrow afternoon, and I can hardly wait.
After our boat tour, we explored some of the little souvenir stands and food stalls along the waterfront in town, where we bought postcards, snacks, and matching t-shirts. Then we boarded a decrepit old bus that took us to our afternoon excursion to a community garden where we could pick fruit.
That was one of the activities I'd really been looking forward to, and I was absolutely delighted that we were able to harvest our own pineapples as well as some other tropical delicacies. Pineapple was the thing I'd most wanted to try, and I wanted my first taste of it to be freshly picked.
If you've never handled a pineapple before, here's a bit of advice. Don't hug them, even if you're excited. They're very thorny.
I let Victor have the honour of cutting up our pineapple when we got back to our rental. He joked that it was a lot like me, prickly and difficult to hug, but bright and sweet on the inside. As much as I wanted to deny it, I couldn't say he was wrong. I'm wary of strangers, and being hugged really isn't my thing unless Victor is the one who's hugging me. When we’d first started living together, I didn't even like letting him do it, but eventually he worked his way past the thorns and got down to the sweet part.
The inside of the pineapple was vibrant yellow, and the aroma coming from it was divine. Once Victor was done cutting it, he put all the pieces in a big blue plastic bowl we found in one of the cabinets, and carried it outside to the deck. I followed him, my mouth watering in anticipation.
I was momentarily startled when I realized the mere thought of eating the tropical fruit we'd picked was making me salivate. It was an utterly foreign sensation, but not unwelcome. Something like that had never happened to me before, and I wondered briefly how I'd managed to live for twenty-six years and never experience firsthand what 'mouth-watering' really meant. Slightly embarrassed, I swallowed several times.
Victor gave me a quizzical look. "You okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine," I said, as I sat across from him at the small patio table. The bowl of pineapple was between us, and I gave it a small nod. "I just... really want to eat that and I was, ah... I was literally drooling over it a little."
Victor laughed. "Is this gonna be like that first strawberry after you got your G-tube?"
"It's going to be better," I said.
"Well then, let's see." He picked up a spear of pineapple and extended his arm toward me. "Here, I'll hold it for you."
"No." I shook my head. "I want to do it myself."
"Okay." Victor pulled his hand back, still grasping the fruit he'd taken from the bowl, but he didn't bite into it. Clearly, he was waiting for me to go first. He smiled encouragingly. "You got this."
I selected a piece that I judged to be as big as the one Victor had chosen. The fruit was sticky with juice and pleasantly warm from the sun shining on it, and if I'd thought the scent was heavenly while the pineapple was still in the bowl, it was positively transcendent up close. I took a deep breath, just savouring it for a moment until my mouth started watering again.
I wasn't shy about my first bite. The old me would've nibbled tentatively, too afraid to get a proper mouthful, but not this version of me. The new, brave Yuri fit as much of the pineapple spear into his mouth as seemed reasonable, and bit with confidence. Pineapple juice ran down my chin, and more trickled over my hand from the piece I was still holding, and I didn't care.
It was as if a thousand tiny explosions of pleasure went off simultaneously inside my mouth. The flavour of the pineapple was both tart and sweet, and the texture was firm but not difficult to chew. It was amazing, the best thing I'd ever tasted, and the peak of sensual gratification was so intense that I think my brain might've switched itself off for a second or two.
I opened my eyes to discover Victor staring at me. He still held his untouched piece of pineapple, and I think he must've been watching me the entire time.
"Wow," was all he said.
I looked around for a napkin or paper towel. Belatedly remembering we hadn't brought any outside with us, I wiped my sticky face with the back of my hand instead. All that accomplished was to make more of a mess, but I resolved not to worry about it. I could always wash up later.
I licked some juice off my thumb. "What?"
"The look on your face… I guess I don't need to ask if it's good."
"It's..." I struggled to find a sufficient word to describe it, but then quickly decided a single word would not be enough. "It tastes like joy. Like dreams come true, and new beginnings, and the promise of wonderful things."
"Wow," Victor said again. "All that from pineapple?"
I smiled. "Have you ever experienced a feeling like you know you're exactly where you're supposed to be in life? That you've got everything you'd ever wanted up to that point?"
"I'm not sure," he confessed. "There are still a few things I want. But if you're asking whether or not I'm happy, don't worry. I am."
"It makes me happy to know you're happy, but that's not quite what I meant," I said. "For the longest time, I didn't even know what being happy would feel like. I didn't let myself have dreams, and I was scared to make plans or set goals because I didn't think I could ever achieve anything and I didn't want to have to cope with the pain when I failed."
"But, you've done loads of awesome stuff this year," Victor said. "You've been totally crushing your goals."
"Because I finally saw that I'd never understand what happiness felt like if I didn't start trying," I said. "Eating that first strawberry after my surgery... taking the first step felt so good. I knew I wanted to keep on feeling like that."
"And now you do?"
"Yes. Now I do."
This has been a year of change for me, a year of learning, and perhaps the most important lesson I've learned is that I'm responsible for my own happiness. I've also discovered that happiness is a journey. The road isn't always smooth, but setbacks and challenges aren't a sign of failure. They're opportunities to try again, several times over if necessary, and now I see that neither my success nor my worth as a person are defined by how many attempts I have to make.
My newfound understanding has been nothing short of empowering for me. It's allowed me to take charge of my life in ways I'd never done before, and to make choices for myself that support my well-being and place less accountability on the people around me. And do you know what? It feels good. Until recently, I never would've imagined that taking on so much responsibility would make me feel so free and strong.
It's fitting for a love story to end with 'they lived happily ever after', and I don't think mine should be an exception. The story I’ve been telling through our journal is my love story after all, not just with my beautiful Victor, but with myself. I'm proud of the person I'm becoming, and I love his courage and resilience and his newly-opened mind that's ready to be filled with amazing possibilities.
Now that I know what happiness feels like, I can say with confidence, I will live happily ever after.

ignore that silly anon omg! ur rec posts were sooo refreshing, especially bc u weren't necessarily rec'ing obvious authors. i love the way you talk <3 everything u write is so funny, your fic notes are their own delight to read & so many of your fics are lowkey underrated. luv the crack fics and how they still have serious elements. "here i am & here you are" is in my all-time favs and i'm so happy ur on tumblr and in this fandom <3333
Thank you so much ❤️ You're the absolute sweetest and I have no words because you've used all the lovely, heartwrenching ones. BUT! Since you mentioned that "Here I Am & Here You Are" is your favourite, I thought I'd share a coda for the fic that never made it into the fic mostly because I only wrote it two hours back. Also, this one goes out to all the SamBucky fans who were sad that the two didn't get much screen time in the fic!
"We Just Keep Going" on AO3 | 1,829 words | Rated M
"Well, well, well," Bucky propped a hand up against the door. "If it isn't my favourite person with my second least favourite person. A pair, when put together, forming a union so utterly average in my favourites list that it doesn't even warrant the work of accurate ranking."
"Did you run lines for that?" Steve asked.
"You're not very good at math." Tony tilted his head.
"Agh." Bucky wrinkled his nose, "I already hate this sequel. Come on in."
"Sequel?" Steve added as he pushed their suitcases through. Tony trailed behind them, running a hand over the flat tile on the door, a colourful piece that bore the words, "BEARS AHEAD! GRR!"
"You two. Back together." Bucky shook his head, "can I have it on the record that I don't endorse this?"
"What record?" Tony asked. "What're you even on about? I thought you lost an arm, not your head."
"Wow." Bucky pointed a finger at Tony. "You know, this is why people call you "difficult"."
"Yeah, yeah," Tony said, "how's the new one handling you?"
"I would say like a dream but I don't want to feed your ego, so I'll say like a," Bucky steepled his fingers, metal and human hand making a compelling image when intertwined. Like some harmonic fusion of AI and humanity. Real cyberpunk shit. Bucky exhaled, deciding on, "like a well-constructed reality."
"Okay." Tony drew out the word, "is Chip here?"
"Who?"
"Sam." Steve clarified.
"Oh, haha, Chip 'n Dale, I get it. You think you're funny. Shut the fuck up." Bucky said, no bite to the words. "Yeah, he's around here."
"What a welcome." Tony crossed his arms. "Okay. I'm gonna change, then lay on the couch, drape an arm over my eyes and nap off the jet lag."
"Sure." Bucky shrugged. "Sam's gone to get burgers. Should I wake you then?"
"Steve can wake me then." Tony shot a glare at Bucky. "Since he knows how to do it without totally violating someone."
"It was one time, we were twenty-two, and the ice had all but melted." Bucky protested, quips easy from an argument too often regurgitated, so well-worked that they slipped out easy even after a decade.
Demonstrating that the passage of time didn't necessarily reflect emotional growth, Tony shot Bucky a middle finger. Then, after pointedly waiting for Bucky to point out the bathroom, he took his clothes from the carrier bag and went over to the bathroom. The snick of the lock rang in a final pointed gesture and in the pointed silence afterward, Steve and Bucky met each other's gaze.
"You gonna give your old man a hug or are you too grown up for that kind of thing?" Steve asked.
"What the fuck are you saying?" Bucky made a disgusted sound, "you ever say that to me again, I'm kicking you out, brother or not."
"Alright, tough guy. Come here." Steve urged, bringing Bucky forward and hugging him, taking care to pat him on the back of the flesh shoulder.
"Y'okay? You all mushy?" Bucky asked into his shoulder, "Tony treating you well?"
"Shuddup." Steve replied good-naturedly, "You run Sam into an early grave yet?"
"He's a slow runner." Bucky seesawed, pulling back to make the gesture.
"Don't I know it." Steve said, "seriously, though. How've you been?"
". . . Better." Bucky admitted, "Not everyday, but, you know. . . a lotta days. It's good. I'm good."
"That's a solid deal." Steve praised, raising his eyebrows to punctuate the point.
"Ain't it?" Bucky gave a flash of a grin, all young fire and old contentment.
"I'm glad to hear it, Buck." Steve said, gripping the man's shoulder for a moment, just a brief press, "I really, really am."
"I know, ya big sap." Bucky shrugged the moment off. "How's Tony been? You fucking each other's brains out?"
"Reckon it would take a while to fuck Tony's brains out." Steve pondered, "since he's a genius and all. Lots of brain. . . cells."
"Okay." Bucky raised his eyes heavenward. "He ain't even that smart. Remember when he thought a carton of milk cost eight bucks?"
"He's a futurist." Steve said in his defense. "Give it a few years, it probably will."
"Christ alive." Bucky shook his head. "Good thing Sam's only drinking soy and whatnot."
"Agh, he's converted you?" Steve wrinkled his nose.
"Ye-up." Bucky turned his thumbs inwards, pointing at himself. "Total believer in the soy cream, right here."
"If your mother could see you now, she wouldn't even recognise you." Steve shook his head faux-solemnly.
"Uh, duh. Why'd you think I grew my hair out?" Bucky scritched a finger against his chin.
"I dunno, to hide your ugly mug?" Steve volleyed.
"Is that what the scruff on your face is for?" Bucky poked him. "'Cause what's that about?"
"I didn't have time to shave while travelling." Steve said, "I'll shave it off when I shower later. Tony likes me clean-shaven, anyway."
"Tony likes me clean-shaven, anyway." Bucky mocked in a jeering tone. "Jeez, the two a you are awful."
Steve paused, set his lips in a straight line and said, "'Cause the stubble can be scratchy when I'm rimming him."
"Eugh. Yuck." Bucky shook his shoulders out. "What the fuck, eugh. Oh god, I'm gonna gag."
"Okay, drama queen." Steve rolled his eyes. He took the pause to push their suitcases up against the wall. Upon turning back, he found Bucky raising an eyebrow at him.
"That's a homophobic remark." Bucky said.
"You're." Steve ran a hand over his face, "I'm too jet-lagged to listen to you right now."
"Good way to say you can't think of a comeback."
"Don't say comeback, it reminds me of—"
"Blah, blah, blah." Bucky stuck his fingers in his ears, "can't hear you, can't be traumatised by you and Tony." His voice rose higher with the second sentence, and it proved the "losing one sense amplifies the other senses" thing wrong because limiting his hearing was obviously causing an amp up in Bucky's lack of common sense and also, his (already debilitated and clearly debilitating further) sense of humour.
Thankfully though, it seemed that the universe was immune from the senses thing because it was with an apt sense for timing that the doorbell chose that moment to ring out.
Steve let Bucky continue his immature performance, going up to open the door in the charmless host's stead.
"Hey!" Sam greeted, takeout bags in both hands, "you're here!"
"Hey Sam," Steve returned, taking the takeout bags from him and moving them to the dining table, "good to see you, man. How've you been?"
"Great, great." Sam said, "How're you? Travel safe?"
"Yeah, perfectly." Steve said, "Tony's just getting changed. You came back quick, eh?"
"Got lucky with the line." Sam said, "how's—man. What are you doing?"
Bucky took his fingers out of his ears and gave Sam a sheepish smile, "well, well, well." He said faux-menacingly, "if it isn't my least favourite person."
"Don't say that about Steve." Sam sidestepped, "and why're you acting like a child?" Without waiting for an answer, Sam entered the kitchen and the sound of running water followed.
"FYI, this is why you're Dale in Tony's "Chip 'n Dale" analogy." Steve said.
"Look at you, bein' such a supportive boyfriend." Bucky said. "Boy oh boy, I best be careful or I'll be out of the running for boyfriend of the year."
The lock of the bathroom door clicked and Tony came out in a grey sweatshirt and trousers. Steve decided to save the fact that they were both Steve's clothing items for later, when Tony was sleepy enough to only notice the reprimand and not how hot Steve got at the sight of it. Tony ran a hand through his hair as he asked, "I heard the door. Sam's here?"
"Kitchen." Steve jutted a thumb out, and Tony headed over to say hi.
As the two began what sounded like an incredibly mature exchange of greetings, Steve and Bucky shared a short look.
"We are not the immature ones in our relationship." Bucky insisted, "we are not the "Dale" of the relationship."
"I think they're brothers, anyway." Steve gave an involuntary rictus, "Tony's always multi-tasking when we watch films. It's a problem. I'm working on it."
"Yeah, okay." Bucky sighed. "Hey, Stevie, off the record?"
"The record that doesn't exist?" Steve asked, "that record?"
"The very same." Bucky cleared his throat. "I'm happy you're back together, you know? Real happy. You average each other out."
"In your favourites ranking or in general?" Steve asked.
"Both, genius." Bucky said. "That's why you two work so well together."
"Thanks, Bucky." Steve said. "You too, you know?"
"I know." Bucky said, giving him a genuine smile. That, more than anything, made Steve feel properly settled. He was out of business in taking other people's opinions on him and Tony getting back together, but Bucky was definitely the closest to being a person he could trust to know enough to be accurate and honest enough to be truthful. So—the fact that he approved, well. It just mattered.
Sam and Tony walked out of the kitchen, still chatting, with table mats in Sam's hands for the food.
"Hey, Tones." Bucky walked forward, "hey, buddy, come here."
Tony made an "oof" sort of sound as Bucky came up and hugged him, matter-of-fact about it. The look Tony sent over to Steve over the shoulder was bamboozled. Befuddled. Somewhat begrudged. A tad bemused.
"Hey." Tony said, "you okay?"
"Yeah." Bucky patted him twice on the back and then stepped back. He pointed at Tony with the metal hand and at Steve with the other, "you two break up again, I'm suing you for psychiatric damage."
Tony's finger met Bucky's in a perversion of the E.T. greeting, pushing him back as he said, "Buckaroo, you couldn't afford me."
"Can we continue this over food?" Sam called out, "'cause I didn't wait twenty minutes for cold fast food."
"Sure thing, babe." Bucky grabbed Sam by the scruff of his neck and pulled him in for a tight hug and a peck on the cheek, "there, there. Didn't mean to make you feel left out."
"I wasn't even—" Sam tried to shrug out the hug for a futile moment before quickly conceding to it, "whatever, okay."
"I don't want to break up," Tony sidled over to Steve, "but I do want to keep up with the psychiatric damage."
"Agree." Steve wrapped an arm around Tony's waist.
"Should we fuck on his bed?" Tony suggested.
"Sam would suffer too, then, and he doesn't deserve it." Steve said, adding with a thoughtful tone, "let's do it on his old bike."
"We do average out." Tony said, and then, at Steve's startled surprise, "see, I can multi-task."

RAAAAAAAAAAAAH (translation: I consumed caffeine and am overflowing with admiration for various peoples, to whom I shall express with no regard for grammar or punctuation)
@quirkle2 HELLO your art is gorjus I love happening upon it and it’s heartwarming with the wholesome but the epic and fierce ones are super dramatic and intense and also your Wars and Legend posts taught me what a qpr is so thanks I appreciate that. I especially enjoy your choice of colour for line work and the very liberal depiction of hair with how it often hugs the face softly and wildly in your art
@kesoo You have such a uniquely flavoured style it is very charismatic and pops out like a cartoon but the skill behind it is clear as day and I cannot succinctly describe how veraciously and immediately my brain attached to that, it’s wow. I very certainly admire your pursuit in animation and I hope the education is doing well for you
@telemna-hyelle @bokettochild @skyward-floored heeeyyyy You are all so kind and genuine, it is a joy to passively read your interactions with whatever/whomever when I’m scrolling through as they generally emanate good vibes, oft good humour and good insight. On top of that, all three of you are amazing writers between “what You Look At, You Change”, the Feathered AU, “A Bride For Hyrule’s Prince”, “Brethren In A Cradle” and the many other shorts and stories and whumps I have and have yet to read (I had started sketches trying to illustrate Leg revealing his wings in FTMH but unfortunately my sketchbook was stolen/lost along with my lunch bag and a bunch of art supplies a while ago)
@minty-mumbles bro your fic summaries are so intriguing, I’m just sifting through them on ao3 and a whole lot of them have a note of profoundness in them among the evident whump creating a sort of question of how the characters in question react to whatever the hook is for that particular fic scenario. I especially like the ones where Wild reflects his/their view of themself and the world they find themselves in in how they treat their hair and clothing according to social customs, as well as the fics about Hyrule and his fairy heritage
I think I’ve been writing this for maybe an hour, let’s keep going
@sraksha I’ve stated before in tags of a post how your art visually resembles a cats toe-beans in it’s soft firmness and also the fact your style kinda makes the Lu boys’ faces look like cats but your expressions!!! The outfit designs!!! The fluidity in body movement!!! !!!!!!! Easily at a level I myself still strive to achieve (this is not self deprecation this is me saying I look up to you and your art in my journey for growth)
@loz-obsessed-person-i-guess @indigoartistqueen Ello ello I enjoy you both greatly and I know Indigo is away for the time being but as I have an inclination for direct conversation over virtually posting messages on a bulletin board you two have given me the most direct meaningful interaction on this site yet and I truly appreciate that
Also the george washington frog, that too
@ectology Your art???? Holy crap????? I chomp like cookie with the fluid sketchy bits and the wide diversity in styles and I just got to the 2012 homestuck part of your art tag while writing this but wow— the difference 7+ years of practice can make
@growingupgerudo @linkeduniverse @linked-maze @bonus-links @minas-linkverse @heroesspirit I cannot in short words describe the bliss of a Zelda brainrot I have been in for the last however many months and rather than writing an individual thing for each of yous lemme just shout it all here: I am to no end in awe of the dedication, time and talent (note: skill and effort but alliteration is fun) that goes into these comics in the unique takes on every design; every minutely different detail that solidifies each comic and artist and writer apart, enriching what has essentially been a deep dive into my early childhood while I rediscover and rekindle a deep seated love for LoZ. I could say many many more things in this but in short You fellow creatives have my deepest respect and hhhdbbbfbbdbbbdbbfbbfbbhh
There may or may not be more of this tomorrow idk, the self awareness is coming back with a growing hesitance for posting this

The Bear: Season 2 Thoughts (Mild Spoilers)
Hey y’all,
I binged The Bear S2 this week and I have things to say.
This show is so visually beautiful, the shots of the food, the tight shots on the actors - everything was gorgeous. The cinematography impacted the story so perfectly in a way that I am not used to witnessing in television versus movies.
I was rooting for every single character so much. Their stories were all expanded upon so well, and none of them were static. The acting was 10/10, I really bought the development of the relationships even though some of them seemed a little random coming off of S1. The writing for Carmy was perfect as a product of his dysfunctional environment (disclosure: my family is very similar to his, it was like watching myself in a character). Jamie Lee Curtis’ acting made me want to crawl out of my skin, which is a testament to how well she played the part.
In particular, I fell in love with Richie and Tina this season.
Richie got the perfect redemption arc - this season was truly his and I loved it. I could not stand him in S1, but S2 fleshed out his character so well. I want his character to get win after win, and I think he has has a long way to go in S3 (should we get it). Matty Matheson’s character was also a great counterweight to Ebon’s pessimism, I thought their dynamic was a lot of fun.
I feel similarly about Tina’s character. This season you’re really able to understand their motivations and fears, which I always adore. Liza was incredible in the role. On one hand I think the show is best as a stand-alone, but I could also watch Tina’s story by itself. Both she and Richie get a huge dose of self-confidence this season and it makes for a very endearing, relatable story. I think very often stories that involve that kind of realization are very commodified and dramatized when it comes to middle-aged protagonists, but the growth of these characters felt very real and well-deserved. (Side note - I follow Liza on Instagram now and she’s such a sweet lady. She reminds me so much of my mom.)
Sydney - Ayo Edebiri - is an incredible character and Ayo’s writing was perfection. Syd’s and Carmy’s signing “I’m sorry” was a really interesting touch and encapsulates their dynamic so well. I also oddly love the way she’s styled. When she’s not wearing her work clothes, her style isn’t flashy, but she looks fantastic always. Her style is so reflective of her character - often slouched, baggy styles with pops of colour. In my opinion she looks like an artist - a creative - which I’d say is pretty accurate to her reality.
Lionel Boyce’s portrayal of Marcus was once again very sweet, and I liked his somewhat less dramatic character arc. I didn’t love his little outburst at the end of the season, but as a character that’s been such a consistent teddy bear it’s nice to see some more conflict introduced to his story.
After this season, I want more Will Poulter and Olivia Colman. I am very much in love with them, and their brief parts in the series were so lovely (despite feeling a little random). Olivia Colman brings the most incredible energy to every project I have seen her in, she is radiant and I love her. I also love the attention to detail with Poulter’s tattoos having a story behind them.
Claire was a good character as well, but she didn’t have the same effect on me as Poulter and Colman. While they’re all static characters, Claire was just... too perfect. Not entirely manic pixie dream girl perfect, but I didn’t find her particularly compelling. For what the character was, she was played well by Molly Gordon, and it was nice to see Carmy get the chance to be something other than an anxious unhappy wreck for a few episodes.
My singular big criticism as of now is that there was so much compressed into this season that it all felt a little random. There were a lot of characters introduced in a very short period of time. While it was nice to see the environment external to the restaurant and I think all of those characters fit very well, it was just a lot. I think the Christmas dinner episode was very important to the story, but the rest of the season could have used a little more breathing room that that episode took up.
I binged it, but this show deserves to be mulled over.
