Arthur's notes! Conner is from young justice and Kon is 90s Superboy. Also Jonathan and Jordan from Superman and Lois series are readers young set of twins

Clark's disappearance takes it's toll on the family..

It was early night with a bright night sky. Y/N Kent was sitting on her bed with her youngest two son's. Two sets of twins and all four were boys. Conner and Kon were only 10 when Y/N was pregnant with Jordan and Jonathan.

"momma when's daddy gonna be back?" Jordan asked yet again, laying his small head on her chest "is, he ok? I really miss him"

Before she could reassure her deeply concerned little boy his twin cut in "yeah it's been 3 weeks! This sucks" Jonathan whined laying on her arm

She kissed Jordan's forehead and then kisses the side of Jonathan's face. She was miserable but she had to be strong. She couldn't let them see the worry that tried to creep up to her e/c eyes. It was the hidden heaviness in her heart that showed through her face only when she is alone.

"oh my sweet boys. Don't you worry. Your Daddy is gonna be back home as soon as he can. It's gonna be OK"

"promise?" Jon asked holding her hand tighter

"I promise"

....

Many miles away from the Kent farm. Conner groans popping his knuckles and twist his neck to loosen his tight muscles. Kon twisted his back trying to make a louder popping noise.

With Superman gone it brought up much responsibility for them to keep the world a safer place. The two teenagers flew above the sky headed for the large farm. The couple bought it with Y/N's inheritance of her parents that her children were never able to meet.

The two brothers share a sadden smile seeing their mother sitting on the roof. She was wearing her lounge pants, house-shoes and tank top with Clark's plaid jacket. She was clinging to the jacket with her eyes shaking.

Conner and Kon gently land onto the roof beside her. She looks to her son's softly smiling.

"hey boys. How.. How was patrol?" she asked trying to distract herself and her boys from her bitter mood.

"it was fine..." Conner casually said more concerned with his mom.

Kon and Conner sat beside their mother taking her hands into their own. She remained silent as saying anything would bring her to tears.

After her husband was doing missions off planet. Sudden silence came, Clark hadn't been seen nor heard form, in 3 weeks. Bruce had been searching for his brother in law ever since.

"it's uh getting late. I know you two are half-Kryptonite like your Dad but your half-human like me.. So let's all go to bed" she ordered moving to her feet.

The oldest twins stand onto their feet with their mom. She feels so lonely. Clark had never been gone this long for years. She new who he is but she can't help but worry.

Conner wrapped his arms around his mother into a heartfelt hug, along with his twin Kon. The twins lay their heads on her shoulder. So much of her heart wanted to cry.

Y/N laid in her lonely bed clinging to Clark's pillow. She quickly covered her, mouth to muffle the impending sound of her crying. She takes a deep breath in and out. As she finally was able to calm her heartbeat down...

"AHHHH!!!" Jordan screamed panicking

"Jordan what's wrong?!" Jon asked his twin

"g-get away from me!!" he frightfully said holding his hands over his ears hearing.. Everything. His head began to pulse.

Conner and Kon speed into their younger brothers room. They see Jordan's arms over his eyes as he is curled in ball crying. Conner touches his arm gently

"hey Jordan what's wrong buddy?" Conner asked

"did you have a nightmare kid?" Kon asked

"Jordan baby what's wrong" Y/N said entering the room.

She sits on his bed, holding his arms with her hands. Jordan hugged his mom begging her to make it stop, as he started to lose control of his breath. She recognized the anxiety in his voice being the similar sound of Kon and Conner when it happened.

"shhh shhh listen to my voice. Listen to me. Take a deep breath in and out, ok? Can you do that for mommy please?"

Jordan did exactly what his mom asked him to "what's happening to me?" he asked genuinely scared.

"it's OK. It's all completely normal for a half-Kryptonian. It's OK. Do you remember Daddy telling you about, how you may be able to hear a lot of things? And be able to see certain things like a x-ray?"

"Y-yeah" Jordan mumbled

"well sweetheart that's what's happening. You're getting your powers like your Dad"

"really?! I'm gonna be a like Conner and like Kon and like Dad! Ooh do I get go on patrol"

"no!" she quickly said "Kon and Conner will teach you how to use your powers but for right now I want you all to get some sleep"

"ok, Ma.. I can't wait to tell Dad!" he exclaimed

"he'll be very happy for you"

Y/N kisses her son's head goodnight and then the other boys. She departs for her cold bed that would not bring her any form of warmth.

In the Bat-cave, Bruce sits on his chair looking at the picture on his desk. Bruce was being hugged by his sister and Clark. It was during his surprise birthday party, which of course he already suspected. All while Diana was behind the camera.

The four of them had always been close, going on double dates, and fighting crime together.

"you should go see her" Diana told her husband

"not until I fix this" Bruce responded bitter

"Bruce this isn't your fault" Diana quickly intervened

"the issue at hand being my fault or not is irrelevant. I promised her I would find him and I intend on not stopping until I do"

Darkness surrounds him, snow blankets as far as he could see. His red cape was torn, his hands were wrapped with part of the fabric from his cape to keep his arms warm. His hair had grown to his shoulders and his beard was half as long. He opens his palms to the fire trying to warm himself. A unusual feeling, that was becoming a bitter normalcy.

Darkseid had seized the man of steel and taken him. For weeks torturing him, no words left his lips but only agony. They kept him far enough from the yellow sun that which gave him his powers.. He was defenceless.

In his darkest moments he remembered her. He held onto her sweet voice with the memory of her comforting skin. He had to survive for his sons. Darkseid underestimated his fight to live. He left his body to rot on the planet.

He suddenly was in a beautiful dream. There she stood above him holding his face in her hands, as he was on his knees. She leaned down to his face and kisses him softly.

“wake up my dear” she whispers

When Clark finally slowly opened his eyes, he was cold.

The detective had found a lead.. he knew his sister had every right to know, but it wasn’t worth the risk he could be wrong.

Hope was finally here. He runs and runs through the snow. The plane entrance opens, he smiled to see his loyal friend. Bruce smiled to his brother in bond.

Clark didn’t waist any time.

As Clark's powers were restored. Clark went home to his family. While flying he is instantly overtaken by two teenagers in tears. He hugs them both tightly.

“boys” he cried, he gasped seeing his little boy “Jordan?!?”

“DAD!!”

Clark was right over the farm. He looks down seeing Jonathan running on the ground in tears yelling up to him. Clark quickly speeds to the ground and picks up his little boy to hold him. Jon began to cry squeezing his neck.

He leans into his Dad's neck "you kept your promise"

"I always keep my promises" Clark cried kissing his head

He hears her footsteps running, her heart racing and he hears her tears falling onto the floor. Clark put his son down.

As he sees her knees begin to tremble. He speeds to her lifting her into his arms. She squeezed his neck tightly as now she let her pain be heard in the warm embrace. He kissed her lips no longer cold

“I saw your recent post about headcanons for Chris Knight, and I adore Real Genius! It's a funny movie movie, I love it. Would you be up to the idea of how Chris would be when you and him are studying together?” ~ Anon

A/N: so sorry it took a while to write. life happened lol. pls be gentle with me because this is my first headcanon. i also kind of went a little overboard so i hope this is okay. thanks for the request! if anyone else want to request then shoot me an ask. tyyyy 😁

okay Chris is an absolute sweetheart

he’ll make sure you have everything you need before studying: water, snacks, sharpened pencils, pens, highlighters, etc.

you do not play when it comes to studying and he knows it, so if he even just so move a muscle to pick up one of those gadgets he’s made then you’ll kick him out of his own dorm

but when he can tell you’re overworking yourself he’ll tell you to stop and take a break

when you would ace a test he’ll throw you a party each time

and when you would do bad on one (the worst you’ve ever gotten was a C) he still throws you a party and pamper you because, as he would say, “to my knowledge, there is no ‘c’ in failure. but i do know ‘Kent’ and ‘failure’ both have an ‘e’.”

you loved how he would cheer you up by just cracking jokes

before finals week approached, chris surprises you by taking you out on a weekend getaway to a concert of your favorite band

“are you kidding me?! these must have cost a fortune!” you gasped as you stared at the tickets in your hand.

“they weren’t when i threatened the guy who i brought them from.”

you giggled and jumped in his arms, “thank you, baby.”

“of course.” he said, smiling as he pulled you closer into him.

he loved making you happy just to see your beautiful smile + you deserved to be happy

you were hit with reality when you got back on campus Sunday night

you were scared as hell for your first final tomorrow and started to regret going on that weekend trip

“chris, do you think it was a good idea to go on that trip when we could have been studying?”

“yeah i think so. we’d probably have fried brains at this point if we did, don’t you think?”

you shrugged, “i guess so.”

“don’t worry, y/n. you got this. if you doubt yourself then you’ll do terrible on the test.”

“that’s what i always do, huh? doubting myself.” you said melancholy as you sat on your bed.

“yeah and you over think.” he squats down to your level, lifting your head up by your chin to look at him. he gently caresses your chin with his thumb. “i took you on the trip for that reason. believe in yourself, y/n…because i believe in you. can you promise me that?”

his viridian-colored eyes stared back into yours waiting for an answer. a moment went by before you smiled at him, “i think that can happen, captain.”

chris jumped up, threw his hand in the air, and yelled a cheerful, “Hell yeah!” before picking you up from the bed—bridal style— spinning you around as you let out a fit of laughter

you were passing your exams left and right all week, and when it came friday for your last exam, you passed that one as well!

when chris heard the news he was so happy for you. and you were happy for him of course, even though you knew he would ace all of his in one day

chris decided to go out to dinner to celebrate finishing the semester with you, along with mitch, jordan, ick, and lazlo.

then you guys went to a carnival and when chris would win anything from a game he would give it to you

“babe, no you deserved this. that was a really hard game.” you told him as you handed it back to him, but only for him to push your hand away.

“no, it’s for you. now come on! i got to win you one more prize for the last exam you passed.” he faked groaned and playfully rolled his eyes before taking your hand in his, smiling cheekily when he heard you laughing behind him.

so yeah even though chris graduates and you have one year left, he’s still gunna be your study buddy and cheering you on until then.

Summary: work, therapy, home. Kim’s got a routine again. But there’s one thing missing from it all.

Warnings: mentions of Kim’s previous canonical trauma, explicit discussions of the aftermath of a miscarriage.

The oversized hoodie Kim kept in the trunk of the car needed to be washed, the scent that calmed her when she was talking about everything that happened two years before nearly gone. But she held the cuffs to her nose and inhaled deeply, a tiny bit of Adam’s aftershave still clinging to it.

“Did anything change when you went back to work after the miscarriage?”

“Everything.” In not so many words she explained what the days in between were like. Her refusal to have a D&C, instead naturally dealing with it. Punishing herself by not taking painkillers because she had killed her child.

Except she hadn’t. She hadn’t killed their baby. She’d fought to protect three lives that night and two had made it out alive. It was awful and tragic but it wasn’t her fault. And that’s what she was learning.

It wasn’t her fault Kent targeted her that night. It was her fault she didn’t have her window up, but if she hadn’t then she’d probably have been dead when Adam arrived at the scene from a bullet to her head. It wasn’t her fault Walton shot her. It was her will to live that kept her alive. It was not letting Makayla lose another mother. It was wanting to live.

It was wanting Adam again.

She could recognise that now. There was enough time and space and she’d lived with Adam for longer than they’d been engaged at this point. She’d lived with him for longer than their entire romantic relationship at this point. Nearly two years of joint bedtime stories, of anguish when Mack was taken and joy when she returned. Of ice skating and bird watching and snowman building.

And somewhere along the way Kim had fallen back in love with him again. Adam had become the man she knew he could be. The man he wanted to be. And he’d done it himself. He’d grown up and bought them a goddamn house so Mack could live the life they wanted for her. He was a dad. He was a damn good cop and if she could take back those words from two years before and make herself ask how he was before what he did she’d do it in a heartbeat.

He made her smile. He made her laugh. He made Makayla laugh, telling her stories about the first time he and Kim did patrol together, wiggling his hips like Kim taught him. He constantly had painted nails and more than once had stared down a suspect who made a comment before saying “my daughter did them for me.” He was a good man and their daughters father and she didn’t know how to tell him she wanted to try again. If he even felt the same way.

In the car on the way home her phone buzzed, Mouse appearing on the car screen. She answered.

“Hey, I’m driving home so I’ll warn you.”

“Home to Mack and Adam?”

“Yeah.” It was quiet for a minute, Kim hearing the older man think. Their friendship was formed through Platt adopting them both, and now that Mouse was stateside again they talked at least once a week. He’d settled in Florida, happy and healthy and working for a tech company down there.

“You’re in love with him.”

“I am. I’m in love with Adam Ruzek.” It was the first time she’d said it out loud since she’d told Erin all those years before.

“Just gotta tell him now. When are you home?”

“Right now.” She pulled up outside the house, Mouse mumbling for a second.

“Tell him, Kimberly. Or Trudy will and we both know how that is. I’ll talk to you next week, tell Mack we’ll FaceTime soon?”

“Of course.”

As soon as she got inside it was the usual evening routine. Makayla greeted her with a hug, Kim hugging her back before sitting down to dinner. Adam’s cooking was improving, today was shrimp pasta with a lemon sauce. Mack wanted just garlic instead and he had her pasta separate to await her approval, garlic bread high on the plate.

“How was skating?” Kim asked, Mack grinning.

“It was so much fun! Jordan taught me to hip check him and I got him! Uncle Kevin and Dad took a video.”

“Yeah?” The Dad didn’t go unnoticed, nor did the way Adam’s eyes shone as Mack continued to talk about doing math homework. “And for science we need to count the birds we see and I told Mrs Young that my dad built us a bird feeder so I’m gonna email a photo so she can see it and maybe we build one in school too.”

She was energetic, an extra story before bed. Soon Makayla would be too old for her parents to read to her each night, but now Kim and Adam were taking full advantage and reading chapters of Percy Jackson to her. It was everything. But Makayla was asleep and she closed the door gently, going out to the living room.

Adam had two glasses of soda on the table waiting for them, a bowl of popcorn in the middle. The tv was waiting to press play on Death in Paradise, and Kim curled up on the couch. Ever since her therapist has advised stopping drinking, Adam had been sober with her. He didn’t have a drink at his poker nights even. It was one of the many ways he showed he loved her.

“Press play?” They watched the familiar scene play out, the dead body found before calypso music played and Adam shimmied around on the couch to the theme tune to make her laugh. He leaned over her to get a handful of popcorn and that’s when she knew.

She sat forward and pressed a kiss to the side of his mouth, not sure what to expect. His head turned and fully kissed her, Kim pulling him to her and deepening the kiss. Finally they separated, but breathing deeply and smiling.

“I love you.” Kim spoke first. “I love you and I love our family and I want us. I want us together. As long as you do?” Her words got softer as she finished speaking.

“I love you too. And yes. All of it.”

The next morning Kim woke to Makayla shaking her arm, Kim blinking rapidly to wake.

“Everything ok?” She asked, Mack shaking her head.

“Dads not in his room!”

“I’m right here, kiddo. What’s up?”

Their daughter crawled into bed with them for Saturday morning cartoons and cuddles before Adam got dressed to get their breakfast, kissing Kim goodbye as he left. Her heart was full, and she couldn’t help but grin as she and Mack got the table ready for the weekend ahead.

She may not be healed, she may not fully heal, but she was happy and in love and what else could she want?

Been watching Superman & Lois recently, and with the 3rd season wrapping up, I wanted to talk about what I saw as "Drama Busywork" in this season.

One of the b-plots in this season is that Jordan, one of Clark & Lois's sons, is dealing with Teenage Issues. In episode S3 E12, he sees people make fun of his superhero alter ego right in front of him & he responds like most kid superheroes do in these types of shows, basically saying "so what if this new superhero is a kid and wears goggles? seems like this new superhero is kinda badass and saved some kids!"

That exchange makes his ex, Sarah, think that Jordan doesn't care about his secret and having a secret identity… despite the fact that she saw the entire conversation start to finish and saw him keep the secret, all he did was kinda go "whoa hold on peers, what if the kid hero is cool and awesome instead???" Sarah, going off of this wild interpretation of events laid out in front of her, tells her mom, Lana Lang.

But this game of telephone telephones-back? It starts as "heyyy what if the new kid superhero is cool haha", then Sarah sees this as "Jordan doesn't care about his secret, so I shouldn't have to care about keeping his powers a secret", which Lana Lang takes to Clark and Lois as "he cares too much about his alter ego", and finally Clark & Lois go to Jordan with "you don't think people knowing about your alter ego is bad". And this last point isn't in a "People should know Superman and Clark Kent are the same person" way, it's in a "People should know Superman exists" way.

So Jordan doesn't actually get to address the core problems here, which are:

1) he is a bit of a Teen Weirdo dealing with Teenage Adolescence on top of being a Teen Hero

2) His relationship with his ex, Sarah, is Bad

Watching the season finale right now, and we haven't gotten any meaningful closure on this Jordan arc. So, like, what's the point?

It really feels like meaningless drama that isn't really adding much to the story or the characters, it's just giving them something to do. Just a lot of characters handling things horribly, AND characters who aren't handling things poorly have the memories of goldfish.

One of the other characters, DOD Grandpa (cannot remember his character's name, but he's Lois Lane's dad) is the one who got Jordan on this whole alter ego track! But when everything comes to blows about Jordan wanting recognition as his alter ego, he gets to just kinda peace out of that whole conflict.

Another example from this same episode is a Clark and Kyle interaction, part of the C-Plot of Jonathan (Lois & Clark's other son) feeling kinda left out of the whole family because he doesn't have powers like his brother and he's not someone of worldwide importance like his mom.

Jonathan has been working as a firefighter in-training with Kyle, Lana Lang's ex. Recent developments have made it so Kyle knows Clark is Superman. This has had an impact on how Kyle treats Jonathan, since Kyle knows that not only is this Superman's son, but also Kyle used to be Clark's biggest bully. Clark goes to Kyle and asks to not treat Jonathan any different because Clark is Superman, and clearly and concisely states that this is about Jonathan not wanting special treatment and Jonathan wants to make it on his own merits.

Kyle would literally not be receptive to that idea from anyone other than Superman, he's still in "this man could kill me and coulda killed me in high school when I was his biggest bully" mode of thinking. So, how does Kyle take this new info to Jonathan? like Jonathan went and ratted to his dad! Even though Jonathan clearly states that's not what happened, Clark just overheard him talking about work! Jonathan's obviously comfortable talking to Kyle about these issues, or else he wouldn't expand on them and defend himself by basically saying "what, you expect me to never talk about work outside of work?"

This is the drama equivalent of worksheets. This is busywork. I don't feel like anything productive is happening here in these interactions, either as character work or as narrative. This doesn't get into the fact that a lot of underlying issues here are just… not really brought up again!

If we focus back on my two points with Jordan, there's one that's just normal High School Drama Stuff. The second is his relationship with Sarah, his ex. Despite this second point being a huge driving force in a lot of Jordan's B-Plot (I'd argue the reason he wants to be recognized as his alter ego is directly caused by this awful relationship) there isn't much movement on dealing with the relationship.

This angle is completely unresolved. The Sarah & Jordan angle starts going sour because Sarah cheats on Jordan over summer camp. They talk it out, and are still together despite it, until Sarah decides because of her own cheating she just wants to be friends. Jordan is (understandably!) heartbroken about this, and tries to continue to be friends with her and it bleeds into that first point. Now he's gotta deal with this heartbreak, on top of the usual High School Drama Stuff. It is the catalyst for all these other things in his life, and all his actions, but like… nothing satisfying is happening there!

(Additionally, this plot point hits really close to home for me! I've been on the cheated-on end of a situation, and watching all this knowing it comes from this unresolved issue that hits close to home makes watching Jordan's B-plot hard! However, that's a Josh-Issue not a Writing-Issue, but I felt it needed to be said so you can take that together with my criticisms)

Again, this all feels like busywork. I don't think any character development is happening, and I don't think the character work being done is good in these scenes. It's just… nothing. I know "Filler" gets thrown around a lot, but this feels like that! This feels like padding. It feels like taking up time to hit a word count.

Next season a lot of these characters are leaving the show. On the one hand, it sucks cause I think they're good on-screen! I don't necessarily dislike these characters! On the other, I think having a smaller cast with less of this writing baggage will likely be for the best, or at the very least we get a different type of bad writing.

Every ship from my last post probably falls under this category as well, besides Rickyl and Desus because I genuinely don’t think I’ve been in this fandom long enough to say that those won’t be my favorite ships in a few years. I don’t think they’ll grow on me but I also said that Daryl would never grow on me, and the same with Negan, soooo I’m not going to make the mistake of using those words ever again LOL.

Also: trying to decide the future of Kryptonians in the Titanic Trio world. I could say Jordan and Lois eventually make it work. I could also have Kara get together with someone (I could even do Kara x Dick (making their kid be Flamebird would be fun), though I'm partial to Jimmy x Kara). But I also need to decide what K Metal, which regularly removes powers from Kryptonians and gives them to humans. Also Kryptonian tradition is girls take the father's whole name as a last name which on earth could end up wordy and confusing, while after they get married they go solely by their first name, which might also confuse people when, after marrying, Karen Starr is like actually my name is just Karen. No, no last name. Although I could also see her going "okay I want to keep Kryptonian culture alive, but also Starr is a translation of El and keeping that last name alive is more important so husband you are taking my last name" but if the husband were Dick that might be conflict because he ALSO lost his family and wants to keep the family name alive.

If Kara marries Dick (or Jimmy), then they could

a) mass hyphenate, squish every single last name together into one giant name

b) create a ship name out of their last names and use that

c) just keep their old last names and don't change anything

d) Kara can drop her old last name and just go by her first name while whoever is her spouse keeps their last name

f) One partner can adopt the other's last name and drop their old one

Does Chris Kent exist pre-crisis? I dont think so, but if so then he could be another option for more Kryptonians on Earth

OLD KENT ROAD:

MONOPOLY'S DUD SQUARE

Old Kent Road : Monopoly's dud square. The cheapest and only property south of the river. At Bricklayer’s Arms, I alight with the crowd and pause in the shadow of the orbital. Here, pavement breeds new pavement. Slabs of grey-green asphalt spill out like wet turbot skins - complete with chewing-gum tubercles. Like a noose, the elevated motorway pushes people out. Tesco bags blow against the perimeter. A sour blue-raspberry condom licks my heel.

I plan my zigzagged passage across the pedestrian islands. If you are to inhabit the city, you learn to perfect your dance with death. I make it to Island B before the black Honda turns left. I fast-walk to Island C. I pull down my hood and reply to a text. By an inch, I miss the side view mirror of an articulated lorry. I breathe out: Ellipsis. Michel de Certeau would read these maneuvers as a prosody poem. Under the traffic’s imposing rhyme scheme, I intercept and interrupt. ‘Asyndeton cuts out: it undoes continuity and undercuts its plausibility.’ My walk is constituted of footstepped stutters - Deletions. I dart between cars - Slash. I mount the pavement- Hyphen. I write a text of ‘enlarged singularities and separate islands.’ My rhetoric is hinged on spatial elements, street furniture, and their references. I weave between bollards and cat’s eyes. I scamper between the lights of the cars - two streams, red and gold.

A pair of Nike Jordans straggle from a power line. I interpret this as a hanging - a gibbeting. Walking is forbidden here. I use the adverb ‘here’ because how else does one condense this terrain? This junction of stifled oxygen. This junction of cars that hurl as if launched from the barrel of a gun. Between traffic, I hear the electricity hum through the power lines and across the white sky. Whilst there isn’t the soil to grow a weed, red roses repeatedly appear at the railings. A photograph of a young boy. A note: ‘Jimmy, we miss you. I should have held your hand.’

My feet sidle at the entrance. Somewhere in the depths of the corridor, a man sits like a large toad. His craned shoulders are framed by a ravine of dismembered circuit boards, computer carcasses, and hard drives. The narrow inlet is thick with the warm olfactory of plastic and solder. He looks up from his work and calls out to me.

‘If you want to take my picture, you can leave.’ His eyes hang through thick rimmed glasses.

I push my phone down into the side of my leg and come clean.

‘I did want to take a photo but you wouldn’t need to be in it …’

He sighs, puts the laptop down, and begins to inch through the clutter.

‘What is it about this place that you people like? I’m not a celebrity.’ He smiles and kicks a small satellite dish from the doorway. It spins and cracks on the last step.

I collect the pieces and hand them to him.

‘I have two Ebay accounts. One sells hardware, the other sells the stuff I can’t fix.’ He drops the shards of fibre-glass into a cardboard box and steps out into the rain.
