$10 Walmart Specials
I have a car that, suprisingly, has a working CD player. So I have been running on nostalgia and being that it is nearly St. Patrick's Day I have been listening to my collection of "celtic" CDs. You know the ones. Vaguely celtic/irish music that came from the "Press here for music" wingstack on the end of a 90's/00's Walmart isle somewhere near the candle section. Those CDs. And as I know I am not the only one who enjoyed these I'm gonna post the ones I have and their track lists (if possible).
The OG. The one that started my love of Celtic/Irish Music: Celtic Journey (1996)
Celtic Whispers. A good instrumental CD. But why the fancy script for the track list?
Celtic Wonder. I had forgotten that this was a CD of female voices.
Celtic Mist. Another good celtic CD with actual Irish music.
Celtic Christmas. No actual christmas songs just a overall feeling of winter. I actually do not have the CD for this one as it disappeared somewhere along the line, but I still have the case. Somewhere.
Celtic Circle Vol 1 & 2. Full of old standards and newer songs. The most "mainstream" of the ones I have.
Celtic Moods. A celtic companion CD to the Pure Moods CDs (of which I have a couple). It's decent.
Celtic Soul. The most NOT celtic celtic CD I have. It's more soul than celtic especially with a sax on at least one of the songs.
Those are my nostalgia Celtic CDs! I had forgotten how good some of them were! Feel free to add on as I'm always interested in what other people have listened to.

Eve of Bealtaine | Beltane
The Celtic Festival of Bealtaine/Beltane which marks the beginning of summer in the ancient Celtic calendar is a Cross Quarter Day, half way between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. While the Bealtaine Festival is now associated with 1st May, the actual astronomical date is a number of days later. The festival was marked with the lighting of great bonfires that would mark a time of…

accessory of the day is this decorative dogtag pendant from the runway job that somehow hints both at a target and at crosshairs, an objectively sensible choice for the fashion-conscious hitter.

i know names in sayer have been discussed to death but my name is nothing is in my brain rn. sayer telling hale its name means nothing to the earth it's going to let itself be destroyed to save. sending hale out to that end and having him return with no name, not even sayer knowing him at that point. future giving him a name to convince him to supposedly save the world. leading to his death. sayer finally returning his original name to him again to persuade him to work with it, after they've both been presumed lost. full fuckin circle baby

Review of A Circle of Stones: Journey and Meditations for Modern Celts by Erynn Rowan Laurie
This book is presented as a reconstructionist and historically based look at meditative practices one can do to strengthen their spiritual life in a 'Celtic' context. I take great issue with the idea of it being reconstructionist, while it does center on 'Celtic' concepts but I find some of the research.... questionable at best... which for the original 1994 print would honestly be extremely well done and thoughtful research of the time, but is simply unacceptable in the 2011 print run (at which time it should have been more seriously reworked, especially since Laurie herself notes in her forward that so much has changed and become available in the realm of research).
If you are looking for a Neo-Celtic meditation routine, this may hit the spot for you (especially if you come from a Wiccan or Catholic background) but if you're looking for a seriously scholarly look into the cosmology and meditative practices look elsewhere.

Movement - Week 3 Animation Storyboards
Continuing on developing my animation here are a few rough storyboards for the animation. First one is from week 2 and the latter is from week 3.
The first one was made as a preliminary to set down my ideas for the story, village is in danger and a ritual at the stone circle is needed for salvation. As I developed my idea I worked more on the practical side of what I can do with stop motion in the 2 week period, which led to the 2nd board.
Here I am putting more thought behind the camera shots planned, how many different angles and potential what I could add to the animation. I plan to go the to photography studio and workshop as I have an idea of a visual effect with the lighting. Using the aerial shots I was inspired from this demo of a stone circle dance.
