Hey can u please do a teen wolf imagine set in season 2 where she is either Scott or stiles sister and she is sneaking around with isaac (they kinda had a thing before he got the bite and after isaac got more confident so he made a move)and isaac sneaks into her room at night and instead of Allison it’s is y/n that Matt was stalking and taking pictures of and obsessed with and he had pictures of her and isaac kissing and stuff and maybe he leaves the pictures in her locker and it freaks her out and you decide the rest. (Sorry it’s a bit dark)
Oh, I love me some Isaac!!! Forgive me if I get some details wrong, it’s been a while since I saw s2. And I’m gonna make you Scotty boi’s sister, because Melissa 🥰
You weren’t the dating type, much to the relief of your mother and your brother - and for some reason, Stiles, but you preferred to pretend that you didn’t know that. - which is why it was such a shock when you drag Isaac Lahey of all people to sit with them during lunch one day.
“I don’t think this is a good idea, Y/N-“ Isaac tires to say, shooting the boys a wary look, but you just shush him and shove him into a seat. You brightly grin at the shocked faces Scott and Stiles before confessing that you’d been dating Isaac for a while now.
Scott freezes for a full thirty seconds.
Stiles chokes on his hashbrowns, and almost dies in that same time period.
“Da- you’re dating him?” He splutters, pointing at a smirking Isaac. “You’re dating him? Oh my god, what the- Scott, say something.”
Stiles gives you a look that says ‘you’re gonna get it now’ which slowly slides off when Scott just keeps quiet, staring at you with wide eyes.
“Wha- Scott, say something.” He grits out, and you roll your eyes, tired of their dramatics.
“All right, enough! Seriously, people are staring.”
That gets Scott moving again, as he looks around to find that people are, indeed, staring. He’s still shocked because when did you start dating?? But now he’s asking questions like when did you two start dating? Why did you keep it a secret so long?
He always knew you kind of had a thing for him: all the flirty banter, and the lovelorn glances…
You and Isaac started up two months ago, you explain, but it’s been pretty low-key so that he can hide it from his dad. (You don’t outwardly say this, exchanging a specific look, but both you and Scott have been pretty sure something was going very wrong in the Lahey household — Scott had smelt blood and fear wafting off of Isaac way too often for it not to be.) So he kinda just?? Accepts it??
He’s concerned, duh, but you’re so happy and he doesn’t want to get in the way of that. But he sternly tells Isaac he’ll kick his ass if he hurts you. Isaac, to his credit, stifles his laughter and genuinely tells him that he’d rather die than hurt you; and that’s good enough for Scotty.
Of course, all of this changes when Isaac becomes a beta.
He does it for you. He wants to be able to protect you, to love you without fear of losing you or getting you in trouble. Derek’s assured him that your protection is a priority of the pack, because even in his slightly power-greedy Alpha state, Derek wouldn’t let what happened to him and Paige happen to his beta.
Stiles and Scott hover around you throughout the whole time Isaac is suspected of murdering his father. Sheriff Stilinski tried to kick them out during your questioning, but they squeezed onto the small couch in his office and just stared at him the whole time. You were shocked and scared and obviously didn’t know anything, so he sent you home pretty quick.
Melissa’s freaked out because 1) you lied to her?? 2) you’re dating now 3) and it’s a boy suspected of murder. So, yeah, maybe she’s questioning her parenting a bit, but she’s really trying to be supportive.
Scott corners Isaac at school (Stiles is there too, naturally) after the whole ice rink thing, without Erica or Derek, and he swears he’d never hurt you. Unfortunately, you walk in right at that moment.
You know when both of them are lying, so you force the truth of them, then and there. You get thrown off guard, of course — they thought you’d react like Stiles, or just like most of the people in those movies react: with a lot of surprise but general and immediate acceptance.
You do immediately do something: leave and avoid both of them for the next couple of days. Your mom’s curious as to why you’re so distant, and why Scott keeps begging you to talk to him, and why you’re avoiding him -- but ultimately, she lets sleeping dogs lie, because she hopes you’ll come to her with something really important.
You hang out with Lydia and Allison a lot more, Allison backing up for Scott by keeping you safe — she tries to defend him for you, but you make it clear you need a lot of time before you can think about that stuff. She also tries to turn you against Isaac, but you’re even more closed off to that.
Lydia is a fresh breath of air, because she is just as confused about this (even if it’s only possibilities and vague stuff) and she doesn’t wanna know more either. She keeps things light between you and Allison, and keeps your mind off of things. But it doesn’t work when Allison and the others drag you guys to your house for a weird “study session” that gets crashed by a giant lizard thing- god, this was your life now.
Isaac grabbed you, and locked you in a bathroom before the whole thing really started. You scream at him to stop, scream for Scott, and beat on his chest, but he just screws his eyes shut and forces you in there — he knows you’ll hate him afterwards, but he also knows you might run straight at the Kanima if it came for him or Scott.
You do hate him afterwards. A little part of you understands why he did it, and it’s unfortunately the same part that still loves him. But you’re still hugely pissed off, especially after Scott and Stiles tell you that he tried to kill Lydia. So the next day, when he tries to talk to you at school, you glare at him until he goes away.
In swoops Matt, all “charming” smiles and “funny” jokes. He sees his chance: months of watching you and Isaac be all cutesy had paid off. He knew what kind of humor you liked — unfortunately, all it did was remind you of your boyfriend and keep you guys at a distance.
God, he hated it. Bad enough that someone was keeping you from him, but that it was Lahey. The brother of the guy that drowned him, the son of the guy that screamed in his face about how it was his fault- no. He had to break you up.
So he consolidated all the pictures that he’d taken of you: candids of you at school, at home, at the coffee place you liked. He slips them into your locker, and watches you squirm and look around. It’s working. Then, it’s those pictures of you and Isaac, kissing at your secret spot, necking in your bedroom, smiling at each other — labels it “Remember the good times?”
You’re trying to talk about it to Scott, Allison and Stiles, but they’re busy with the Kanima. Lydia tries to help, but she’s so out of it and she has been for a while and you’re starting to get worried.
It gets to a point where you run to Isaac, tears in your eyes, and photographs in your hands. “Is this you?” You sob, and he just pulls you into his arms shushing you - “No! No, babe, I’d never do that!” - and promises to keep you safe. You stay glued to his side after that. Boyd is nice and calm, a contrast to Derek who creeps you out a little.
Through his first full moon, you stay with him and keep him grounded. Your voice keeps his father’s out of his head, keeps him in control.
You’re standing off in a corner, watching with a smirk as Erica - who you’ve gotten weirdly close to in the past few weeks - and Isaac double team Jackson (it’s actually… kinda hot? Especially because damn Isaac keeps looking at you); but your view gets obstructed by Matt. He’s trying to talk to you but you barely listen, keeping eye contact with Isaac over his shoulder. Then they leave with Jackson, and Matt makes a move on you. You flinch away so hard, you hit the counter and get the bartender’s attention.
You confront him about the pictures and he splutters for an excuse. The bartender kicks out Matt, seeing your distress, who’s now more desperate for your attention than ever.
Matt - or the Kanima- kidnaps you during Lydia’s party and keeps you in his basement. You’re scared out of your mind, begging for him to let you go, but he promises you that there won’t be anyone in your ways from now on. While everyone’s dealing with the fiasco at the police station, Isaac, Boyd and Erica come get you.
He’s trying not to cry when he sees your busted lip, the bruises around your wrists where you were tied down.
Boyd and Erica decided to leave, but Isaac didn’t want to leave you behind. So he goes to Scott and Deaton, and becomes a good guy, helps out with Jackson and everything!
He also starts living with you guys, which you’re very excited about ;) But Melissa is very careful about leaving you two alone. And Scott’s stupid senses screw you over in that he interrupts every time you get to more than kissing.
But you find ways. 😉😏😏
Hope you liked it! I think I changed a few things, and I tried to keep the canon timelines for everything, but yeah!

What I hope the futures of the main ST kids look like:
(Assuming none of the kids die.. which is highly unlikely but let’s just pretend they get a happy ending)
MIKE & WILL: in 1986, he finally confesses his love to Will. They start secretly dating throughout all of high school. The only people who know about it are the rest of the party and Mike and Will’s moms, as well as Jonathon and Nancy. Eventually, they both move away and go to college in New York. They struggle for awhile but eventually they start a business and Mike becomes a comic book writer with Will being the comic book artist. They make it big, and gather up enough money to move. Then in 2001, they move to the Netherlands as it is the first country to legalize gay marriage. They get married in 2002 and the whole party comes. Then, in 2007 they move back to New York to continue their Comic Book business. Everyone respects them. They get a large aparentment overlooking the Hudson Bay. The whole nation knows their name and they are comic book royalty, essentially celebrities. Mike and Will visit the rest of the party often, and they all see eachother for every major holiday. In 2020, they’re still going strong and are pumping out major hit comics what they claim are “fiction” but are really based off of the tragic events of their childhood. IT IS HUGE, and they’re living comfortably in their NYC apartment with 2 other estates in Amsterdam and Hawaii. They’re happy.
LUCAS: Lucas goes for basketball but decides that that’s not what he wants to do for College. He goes to Law School in Missouri, and stays with relatives. He and Max break up after HS graduation since they’ll be so far apart. Lucas goes on to be a humble lawyer that also plays basketball from time to time. One day at a coffee shop, he meets a woman and they fall in love. The woman reminds him of Max and his own mother combined. They get married in 1998 at the age of 27 and move to Boston Massachusetts. They have a son, who shares a love for Basketball like his father. They frequently go and visit Mike and Will in NYC, almost every 3 months and their son considers mike and Will his “uncle” because of how close they are.
MAX: Max ends up going back to California and reuniting with her dad. She decided college just isn’t for her and decides to start a skateboard and surfboard company by the beach. She has a small apartment in Laguna Beach, California and is friends with all the locals. She keeps in touch with the whole party and sees them every major holiday, but she especially keeps in touch with El. Max goes to Chicago to watch an infamous skateboarding competition and ends up bumping into Kali, who els been living with for a few years. Max packs up all of her stuff in California and closes her store and moves out to Chicago to live with El and Kali and her gang. She works at a coffee shop with El until they finally come up with enough money to rent a condo. El and Max move out of Kali’s apartment into their own condo. Max works as a street artist and does big paintings all over brick walls and roads. El works at an animal shelter and together they adopt 2 German shepherd dogs. She sometimes visits her mom and step dad back in Hawkins. In 2002, they go to the Netherlands for Mike and Will’s wedding, and Max ends up meeting a Dutch Mechanic named Levy. They go long distance for about a year until eventually levy moves in with them. So it’s El, Max, and Levy. They get married in 2006 in the middle of the woods. It’s not a conventional wedding, and Max skateboards down the aisle. They only invite the party as well as some friends from Hawkins and Kalis gang. Mike and Will always boast about how if it wasn’t for their wedding, Levy and Max wouldn’t have met. Levy gets a job as a car mechanic and makes quite a bit of money. Max stays in Chicago with Levy and El for the rest of her life.
EL: El accepts that she can never have a normal life. She never goes to a public Highschool as it is unsafe and ends up not going to college either. She wants to see the world, and ends up moving to Chicago. Hopper and Joyce are married and she frequently visits almost every weekend for the first year. She doesn’t have a job as she just uses her powers to steal, as she doesn’t really understand the economy. After 3 months of living on the streets, discovering the world, she bumps into Kali who welcomes her into the gang. She lives with Kali and her gang for years. Kali has stopped k!lling people, and stealing, and teaches El how to have a happy life. Kali and her gang all rent one huge apartment and all get seperate jobs, they’re like one big dysfunctional family. El works at a coffee shop down town and one day bumps into Max who is visiting for a skateboarding competition. About 7 months later, Max moves in with them. Max starts working with El at the coffee shop and they are a power duo. Eventually they all are able to settle down and come up with enough money to rent an apartment for just the two of them. They move out of Kali’s aparentment and Max and El rent a small but nice condo, not to far from Kali. El starts to work at an animal rescue center and rescues 2 German shepherd dogs. Max works as a street artist and does murals all around town, it doesn’t pay much, but it makes her happy. They stay in Chicago for the rest of their lives and live happily together as bestfriends. In 2002, they go to Mike and Will’s wedding on a glassy lake. El creates a beautiful flower explosion with her powers at the reception, and is exceptionally proud that Mike and Will are pros with eachother. After Max gets married and Levy moves in, Levy learns of her powers. He keeps them a secret and they all live in a nice apartment in Chicago for the rest of their lives. Sure, it’s unconventional, but it’s nice, and that’s all el cares about. El continues to see the world and takes frequent road trips with Max and Levy on the weekends.
DUSTIN: Dustin goes to MIT and immediately excels. He adopts 3 pet lizards and one iguana and names them after the Ghostbusters. At MIT, he dorms with a fellow nerd and falls in love with her. He studies science on the side, as well. He works hard at MIT and graduates top of his class. He eventually moves out to New Jersey with his girlfriend. He gets a job at a local Highschool. Dustin works as a science teacher and still keeps in contact with Mr. Clarke. His girlfriend works as a History Professor at a local college. In 1999, he gets married and they honeymoon in Egypt, where Dustin takes way too many pictures. The whole party comes to the wedding, and Mr Clarke even comes and says a speech! In 2004 they have a son named Dart. His wife questions the name choice but goes with it. They settle down in a nice house in New Jersey. They frequently visit Mike and Will and Dustin even went to one of Mike and Will’s book press tours. In 2007 they have a daughter named Claudia after his mother. Dustin tells his whole class about what it was like in Hawkins, and how he got trapped in a Russian base. Of course, his students don’t believe him. Dustin and Lucas often come down to New York every few months to see Mike and Will, just the four of them, like old times. Dustin and his wife continue teaching and even have a whole room in their house dedicated to science. Their children are nerds-in-training and have seen the Star Wars trilogy over 4 times, per dustins request. They live happily and visit the rest of the party multiple times a year.
I’ll be doing Jonathon, Nancy, Steve, and Robin next!

Cry baby and Pee pants, part 1 (Digimon)
Matt cussed loud and long as he searched though his locker and the dressing room for the 5th time. The young blond had been trying out for a band, hoping to launch his music carer after more or less calling it quits as a digi destined, after barely keeping Tokyo from being blown up by a rouge digimon. This was actually his 6th audition, his young age and well, not exactly stellar skills on the guitar meant that he was told thanks for trying out, but he wasn't right for any of the bands till now. The leaping lizards had gushed over the raw talent being there, and had welcomed him on board, even pouring him a couple drinks of sake despite him being underage to celebrate. The last thing Matt recalled before waking up five hours later was them laughing at how stupid he was and.. Giving up the search, he had to finally admit the truth. they hadn't ever been serious about their offer to join the band and had just wanted to steal his guitar, a newer model and worth at least 300 bucks even being pawned. 'I suppose I should feel lucky I woke up with both kidneys.' Matt thought to himself. 'But how the fuck am I suppose to try out for the lone wolfs in two days with no instrument?' There was NO way he'd be able to get his parents to get him anther guitar, he'd had to basically break out the water works and plead on his knees for a month to get the last one. His antics had earned him the nick name of cry baby around both his dad's house and his mom's, and TK still wasn't letting it go and would ask if baby wanted his ba-ba. That left asking the others for a few loans, and most of them weren't too pleased he'd given up the hero game for fortune. Joe was blowing all his money on his studies anyways, Izzy on computer junk.. Sora and Mimi had been giving him the cold shoulder and he knew neither Kari nor TK would have the cash. '...I wonder if Tai's still hella gay?' Matt though, a Cheshire grin coming across his face. the always needy boy kisser had been good for getting a few video games before and junk, it was like 20 minutes of gay stuff like smooching and cuddling and then a little shopping spree AND Tai had just come into a fat wad of cash after a uncle that adored him had left him a big hefty inheritance. 'I can gay out for like, a hour for this.' Matt thought and getting his bag (and of course finding his wallet dry) he headed towards home, thinking about getting a even better guitar then before.
Tai was shocked when Matt called him the next morning, asking if he could meet up. After Matt had ditched the team only Tai and TK made any real efforts to hang with him, and TK only because they were brothers. In truth Izzy was giving Tai a hard time about it, but since Izzy was being a little bitch about a lot of things lately Tai just ignored his on and off again boyfriend. 'I mean, I was willing to get him that new computer he wanted and he couldn't rock a pamper butt for me? RUDE!' Tai thought and huffed. It was Tai's new fetish, and one he'd discovered by mistake when googling more on that Willis kid and finding out the little cutie had a website set up to show him modeling in diapers. Naturally seeing that Tai had begged and pleaded with Izzy to try out diapers but apparently Izzy had been a late bloomer and had only recently gotten out of daytime diapers before their whole adventure started. Naturally this had only made Tai wanna diaper him more, but again, Izzy was being a little pecker head about it. (at least from Tai's point of view.) 'heh. if Matt is expecting a little shopping spree today..he's in for a surprise. the boy is gonna earn it.' Tai thought, and went and checked on the supplies he kept under his bed on the off chance he lucked into a diaper boy. there they were, 2 packs of the diaper brand Willis recommended on his site, nice and thick, and a few onesies along with a changing pad and pacifiers and a baby bottle. 'Oh yeah..come onnn Matt..be desperate for money~'
Matt made sure to wear a nice tight sleeveless top and a pair of tight jeans (So tight he'd needed TK's help getting into them.) and made sure to spike his hair just the way that Tai liked it. TK wasn't dumb though, and knew what Matt was doing. "Looking good for your sugar daddy Cry baby." He teased and winked. "Your lucky Tai's expecting me, or I'd give you the noogie to end all noogies." Matt said, raising a eyebrow. it was just the two of them at their mothers apartment at the moment and TK used to know better then to push his luck when it was just them. "Mmhhhhmm.. your dadddy calls and cry baby Matt comes running. maybe HE'S gonna give ya yer ba-ba~" TK giggled. the giggles died off as TK saw the look on Matt's face, and when their mom would get back she'd find TK hanging by his undies from a nail on the wall. "...pushed cry baby too far again huh?" she asked, smirking and taking off her jacket. "Y-Yeah..uh..a little help?"TK squeaked. "Righttt after I put the groceries away.. think of this as time to reflect on watching your mouth." mom said and walked away. "B-But my undies are so far up my crack i can taste themmm!" TK whined. "then I don't need to worry about lunch." came the reply. "...Funny fucker aren't you." TK huffed under his breath, crossing his arms. "I hear that!"
Making his way to Tai's Matt got more then a few looks from both guys and girls, and likewise, a few wolf whistles. He ignored them for the most part, but had a smirk on his face knowing just how sexy he looked and soon was knocking on Tai's door. Tai gave him a once over as he opened the door and Matt smirked, he was almost drooling. "So, Like what you see?" Matt asked, and flexed a arm. "heh, Oh yeah. so gonna stand out there and look hot, or come inside and tell me what you want?" Tai asked, standing aside and gesturing into the apartment. "Don' worry, Kari had a school thing out of town and mom and dad are with her.I have you allll to myself." Tai added, slapping Matt's ass as he walked past, making Matt yelp and blush. Still, Matt knew what was expected of him for the most part and just flashed Tai a grin and blew a kiss. 'fucking bastard! he knows i hate spanking stuff!' Matt fumed. Matt went to sit down on the couch by Tai had closed the door and taken a seat in a arm chair, then patted his lap. '..He's totally getting me the latest guitar if he keeps this shit up.' Matt fumed, but walked over and sat on Tai's lap, putting his arms around the bigger boy. Matt might of been taller, but with all the sports that Tai played he had a bulked up look and was pound for pound much stronger. "So, You normally only get THIS dressed up if you want something, so what's my little Mattie need?" Tai asked, cradling Matt in a way that Matt recognized as using back when TK was toddler. "I..I uh..I have a band audition coming up..but some jerk's stole my guitar..and um.." Matt swallowed and then batted his eyes at Tai. "I was wondering, hoping if maybe you'd get me a new one.I've been practicing my kissing and we can cuddle and stuff for like, 2 hours even!" "heh. Well that IS a tempting offer. doubly so when your cute ass is in my lap. but I have a boyfriend if I just wanted to make out with a cutie. and Izzy is willing to go all the way." Tai chuckled. "O-Oh..but..I uh..I'm not..you...know..I'm.." Matt stammered. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna make you suck dick or take it up the poop chute. and I WILL get you whatever kinda guitar you want for your silly little audition which by the way is when?" Tai asked, kissing Matt's forehead and making alarm bells go off in the blond mind. "I-It's tomorrow at 3 pm sharp. And..what do you want then?" Matt asked, a nervous twitch to his voice. "Oh nothing too much. something really easy actually." Tai said and smiled. 'Bullshit' Matt thought but kept the smile on his face. "and that is?..." "For every say.. 20 dollars I spend on your little guitar I get one hour with you being my darling little diaper boy." "..What?!"
Tai smirked as he got ready to put Matt back into padding. the blond was looking huffy as fuck, but was keeping his mouth shut all the same, likely trying not to blow his semi good deal. Tai of course fully understood WHY Matt wouldn't be happy with the deal, but couldn't help but tease the impending little uy a little bit. "Awww come on widdle Mattie, can't you give daddy a smile? Your making daddy think you don't wanna do our widdle deal." He he teased, reaching over and tickling mat''s chin while the blond sat cross legged next to him. "...Your a sick man, you know that?" Matt asked, but he was grinning all the same, though whether it was from the chin tickles or humoring him Tai couldn't be sure. "Flattery will get you everywhere." Tai said with a wink, and as he finished getting the changing pad (with a adorable teddy bear print) set up and the changing supplies ready, he looked over Matt's jeans as he tugged out 3 of the thick puffy diapers. "So, are gonna be able to get out of those by yourself? they almost look spray painted on." Tai asked. "I can totally undress myself!" Matt huffed and stood up, unbuttoning the jeans and sliding his thumbs into the belt loops and tugging. And tugging some more. and then more tugging as they didn't budge. "You were saying?" Tai asked, in a clearly delighted tone. "..Shut up and help me get these things off." Matt huffed.
Matt was crimson after they FINALLY got his jeans off, partly due to the fact it had taken 10 minutes of effort, and well, needing Tai's help to undress. Not helping matters was the fact that Matt had chosen to go commando and well, liked to keep it shaved down there. "Awww somebody was a good boy and knew what was coming and saved daddy some time!" Tai teased. 'oh shut the fuck up!' Matt thought. "Yeah, let's go with that." was his sulky reply. Tai had oddly grabbed a razor blade all the same and cut silts in the back and front of two of the three massive diapers he was planing on putting on Matt, making the blond give his impending 'daddy' a weird look. "It's so when you go tinkle, the wetness is shared and you can go longer in your diapies. Same for when you go boom boom." Tai said cheerfully. THAT had caused the blush to leave Matt's face, at least for a little bit as he paled. "W-Wait.. you mean..you want me to.. uh.. go.." Matt stammered, and the blush returned as he struggled to say the words, then hissed and blew a raspberry. "in my diapers!?!" "..Ok that was hella cute. and Yup, I'm even gonna be nice and let you use them all on your own for today, though if I don't like the results I'm seeing I'll be sure to get you some potty med's to help." Tai said and winked, then patting the changing mat. "come on Little guy, let's get your diapies on and then you can sit in daddies lap while we order you a guitar so you can make music for daddy." "But..I thought we were going and getting one today!" Matt whined. "Oh, does somebody wanna go out shopping in his diapers? So bold!" Tai teased. "NO! I just..uh.." mental images of Matt waddling around in the big bulky diapers, holding Tai's hand and sucking his thumb flooded his mind and he started to squirm lots even as he laid down on the changing pad. "Don't worry. I'll pay for rush delivery. if we get it in town it'll be here by this afternoon. Maybe I'll let my little exhibitionist answer the door." Tai teased, and grabbed the first diaper. '...I could really go for anther glass of sake right now.' Matt thought and lifted up his butt like a good boy.
Back at the apartment TK was having pain fueled day dreams of all the times his undies hadn't of been lodged up his crack and wished his mom would hurry up and come and get him down. Not helping the whole situation was the fact that he had a growing bladder issue and any attempt's to shift around and relive the pressure there only made the undies ride up more. His mom had gone from putting things away to excuse herself to the bathroom, an like she was the worlds greatest comedian she'd told him not to move, and to hang in there. TK had wisely kept his opinions of her humor to himself as he had a sneaking suspicion that his earlier comments had helped extend his wedgie time. Still as the need to tinkle grew more and more TK couldn't keep quiet. "MOMMY! I hafa go pee! if you don't wanna clean up a puddle you needa get me down NOW!" He called. the bathroom door opened and Nancy walked out, smirking. "Why didn't you say something sooner wedgie boy?" she asked, taping a finger on his nose. "...You were just waiting in there!?!" TK shouted and huffed, crossing his arms and glaring. Sadly as his attention was focused on his mom and being mad at her, it was diverted from where it needed to be. "Well you were being a little brat an-" She started, then looked down as a hissing noise was heard and looked at the growing wet patch on the front of TK's undies, and the puddle that was starting to form on the floor. "Really?" "T-This is your fault!" TK huffed even as she grabbed him under the arms and lifted him down, though holding him away from her so she didn't get any pee on her. The flow was weakling and stopping as she got him on his feet, turning him so he could add to the puddle while not standing in it since he was in socks. (not that they weren't already wet) "Mhmm.. Well go and finish in the bathroom and clean up." She said, rolling her eyes then noticed a super guilty look on TK's face. "The..flow DID stop because you got it under control right?" She asked, a smirk tugging on her face. "Er..well..see.." TK said, rubbing the back of his head and chuckling nervously. "Go grab a shower pee pants, and meet mommy in your room. you know the rule for pant's wetters in this house." She said and turned away to go and get the mop and bucket as TK whined. "MOOOM! NOT THE PULL UPS!"
Back at Tai's and Matt was powdered and tapped in his triple thick white diapers, and squirming like crazy as he looked at himself in the mirror. Tai had tugged off his shirt so at the moment Matt was JUST in his white socks and white diapers, and he couldn't even close his legs! and as bad as it looked from the front, once he turned around and looked over his shoulder it was WAY worse in the back! He hadn't of even been able to get to his feet without Tai's help (well, he was gonna use Tai's bed to pull himself up but Tai had insisted daddy was here to help) and to say he was waddling was a massive understatement. "So what do you think little guy?" Tai asked, coming up behind him and making Matt look front ward in the mirror again, kissing Matt's cheek as he patted Matt's fat diapered bottom. "...I feel like I'm gonna knock lamps off of end tables, and there should be a beeping noise when i back up!" Matt whined. "heh, cute idea. I'll see what i can rig up for your next diaper day with daddy." Tai chuckled and kissed Matt's cheek. 'I need to stop giving him ideas.' Matt mentally groaned. "Can I at least put my shirt back on or something? or you have some shorts I can put over these? I wanna try and cover the diapers up!" Matt whined. "oh, You're just in luck little guy! Daddy DOES have something to go over your adorable huggies." Tai said. The old familiar warning bells were going off in Matt's head as Tai went and reached under the bed, and pulled out two onesie's, or as Matt called them, diaper shirts. One was light blue with a yellow trim on the sleeves, neck and leg hole, and had a yellow star on the front, that had a smiling face and said 'daddies little star' under it in yellow text. the second one was a white one with a dinosaur print all over it, and Matt fought the urge to facepalm. 'I really need to start watching my goddamn mouth.' he thought. "So buddy, what do you thin? wanna be my widdle star, or a dino boy?" Tai asked. "Gee, they're BOTH so tempting." Matt said, unable to keep the sarcasm out of his voice. If Tai noticed though he didn't show it and just nodded instead. "You're right, I'll pick for you." '...REALLY need to just keep my effing mouth shut!'
In the end Tai went with the little star onesie, though he'd over estimated just how thick he could go and still use them as it was a bit of a fight to get the crotch snaps to close. "I think after we get you your little guitar, we'll go shopping and get more cute outfits for my widdle musician." Tai said. He could tell Matt was less then pleased, but the boy forced a smile on his face and nodded. "whatever you want ta-" he started to say. "ah ah ah, when your butt is in diapers, it's DADDY. Got it?" Tai said, wagging a finger and smirking. "..Yeah OK." Matt replied, rolling his eyes. "yeah OK what?" Tai questioned, the grin getting bigger. "...Yeah OK daddy." Matt said, smiling but clenching his teeth. Tugging Matt over/ helping the padded cutie keep his balance, Tai sat down in his big comfy computer chair and tugged Matt into his lap, giving the big baby's neck a kiss. "Now did you have a certain store in mind, or just want me to google and shop around?" Tai asked.

Crystal’s Duel
“And that wraps up Elusiun history for today class, please pack up and head to your next class. And no running in the hall…”
Odessa ignored her teacher’s droning. She quickly packed up her books. Into her bag went her Elusiun history textbook, Magical studies notebook, Arithmetic binder, and physiology literature. She struggled to zip up her bag before throwing it on her back and running out the door towards her English class. She stopped only once, to not catch the attention of her least favorite peers, Billi and Crystal.
“Look at her. Bet she couldn’t even summon fire if her life depended on it!” Billi joked. Crystal laughed deeply, as if to say that Odessa was nothing.
“Hey, not everyone is born with the ability to summon lighting and animate a chair. Some of us have to learn it.” retorted Odessa. Unlike Billi and Crystal, Odessa wasn’t born with magic, she had to learn it. Odessa was fed up. Every day she would encounter the two, who would trip her and shame her until she could find an escape, usually in the form of the school bell. Odessa knew that they wanted her either dead or far away from her. She didn’t know their motivation, but decided to just avoid them as much as possible.
“If you’re so good, then try and beat me. I’ll see you on the dueling ground, after last class tomorrow” remarked Billi.
“Um..ye..yeah. Sure.” Odessa was caught off guard. She stammered, and immediately regretted what she had said. She didn’t want to duel! Odessa was terrified. Under school rules, duels were technically allowed, as long as no one was harmed. Billi was not one to play by the rules though, and Odessa had heard rumors that Billi had sent other students to the hospital with her duels. Odessa tried to push the issue out of her mind; she couldn’t think about it. She was just being hyperbolic, and paranoid. Nothing was going to happen to her, or at least that’s what she wanted to believe.
Odessa had heard rumors of Billi having sent others home or even to the hospital, and Odessa had a habit of fearing for the worst. She had no idea of what to do; she knew she couldn’t beat Billi through defense or simple attacks, so a different tactic would be necessary. Odessa spent all night at the town library, browsing through old spell books and dueling books for any clue on how to beat her enemies. She slowly and painfully combed through dozens of books; those on spell casting techniques, defense strategies, correct stances, as well as many many more. Odessa was in a frantic state. She had accepted a duel; if she ditched it, she would be in the best case expelled; one could not abandon a duel previously agreed too, and one could not make a false agreement, as that would be a lie. She might be officially dishonored, if it was found that her lie was so great. She didn’t know what to do, but right as she was about to accept her fate, in death or dishonor, she had a bright idea, and hatched a master plan.
Odessa sprinted to the library after class, to try and cram in as much knowledge as possible for the next day. She wanted to learn basic self-defense spells, in fear for the worst. The worst part was Crystal; she was under a subjugation spell cast by Billi. And even worse, Odessa really liked her. They had been great friends for years before Billi; before she was spelled, she was sweet, humble and kind. Since she had fallen in with Billi, she had turned for the worse. She became cold and unfeeling, just a pawn in Billi’s sick game.
Odessa finally left the library and trekked home at 4 in the morning, and hopped into bed to sleep for a few hours before her big day.
She was awoken not at 6:30, as her alarm had intended, but instead at 7:30 by her mom shaking her awake; she was about to miss the school bus.
“Odessa…Odessa! Get Up! You’re late for school! Come on!” Odessa’s mom was yelling.
“Ugh, what time is it? Big day today.” Odessa groaned. She never slept well, but this was something else.
“Where’s dad?” she asked, as he used to wake her up too. Odessa was, at that point, too tired to remember that her father hadn’t even looked at her since she came out. She groaned, and tried to roll back into bed. Her mom hadn’t waken her up for school in a while. She didn’t understand why she would have started today.
“It’s 7:30” With this, Odessa shot up. She was going to be really late. She got out of bed, and her mom ran out the door to attend to their own lateness. She rushed over to her book bag, grabbing her school books and her practice wand. Today, it would not be a practice wand. Today, it would fight.
Odessa didn’t have time to eat morning meal, or say goodbye to her pet lizard Addy. She ran out the door and managed to slip onto the bus just as it was pulling away. As per usual, Odessa sat alone on the school bus. This time, however, she didn’t mind; she was busy plotting out her exact moves. She had to know exactly what to cast and when; time is of the essence when your enemy is casting deadly spells at you.
Arriving at school, the same sight emerged as always; groups of friends huddled together, waiting until the last moment before the bell to run into class and take a seat. Odessa always ignored them; she would run through the hallways, weaving through the cliques and trying her best to avoid Billi and Crystal. She spent most of her free time at the library; she often read books about magic to expand her spell portfolio; she wasn’t born with the gift, but she was going to try damn well to earn it.
First period went as normal; Odessa didn’t understand why she should learn Latin, a dead language. In her mind, it was just a filler class, demanded by the sticklers and the elders who wanted to keep their antiquated traditions alive. If any spells were written in latin, she would learn that but to learn a whole language was useless. Second period was Arithmetic. That was okay for Odessa, she earned decent marks and was somewhat interested in the material. Third period was martial arts. Odessa liked martial arts; she was one of the best students on most days. On this day, though, Odessa was too distracted. She missed several instructions and lost her sparring match. After class, she was approached by her teacher.
“Odessa, are you alright? You seem kind of out of it today.” The teacher was concerned. Odessa seemed to just be staring off blankly into the distance. Shaking her head and finally looking at her teacher, she responded
“Oh yeah…I’m fine. I’m just a little stressed out. Stressed, that’s all.”
“Alright, if you say so. Hurry along to your next class, the bell is about to ring.” With that, Odessa ran off to her fourth class, physiology. Odessa had always found physiology fascinating; it was also a nice distraction from the events that were to happen shortly after.
She took a short break for lunch, where she sat in an empty classroom, analyzing her plan one more time. She couldn’t mess up; an error would result in pain, dishonor, or worse. Odessa questioned why she ever agreed to this, and if she could get away with not going. She eventually had to put her foot down and decide that she had to go; she had to show Billi that she couldn’t get away with this, she couldn’t keep hurting people who didn’t follow her every demand.
The rest of her classes seemed to just flow together like school soup; Odessa couldn’t pay enough attention to her teachers to make out what they were saying. She started to doubt herself; what if her dad was right? what if she was a lost cause? She didn’t think she was going to be able to carry out her plan. But if she did, she would change things for the much, much better.
Odessa walked out of class and to the back of the school with a grim look on her face and a swarm of bees in her stomach. She slowly made her way to the dueling ground out back, where Billi was practicing her casting and Crystal was on the sidelines, chewing bubble gum.
“Took you long enough. I’ve been waiting forever.” said Billi. School had only ended 15 minutes ago, so she had been waiting that long or had skipped class (an activity she was not above doing).
“Billi, I don’t want to do this. I don’t want anyone to get hurt.” Odessa stated nervously.
“I’ve been waiting for this for years. You parading around, thinking you can outshine us with your books and your learned magic. Only us true bornes can really have magic. You all are just fakes.” This infuriated Odessa. She had worked her entire life to earn her magic; she had devoted every waking moment to it. Odessa almost broke her plan, but managed to keep her composure.
“Can you guys start already? I want to see Odessa in pain! Come on!” yelled Crystal. She was on her 7th piece of bubble gum. This stung Odessa like a bee, a sharp pain right to her heart. She knew this wasn’t the real Crystal, even if it seemed like it was. Odessa walked over to her spot. All she had was her wand, her wit and her luck.
Odessa and Billi both raised their wands at each other. Crystal counted down
“3…2…1…..Begin!” Billi closed her eyes, and being muttering her spell. She opened her eyes to fire only to see Odessa’s wand pointed at Crystal, to her utter shock.
At that moment, time seemed to stop for Odessa. A green lightning bolt barreling right towards her, her wand pointed squarely at Crystal, and a phrase being muttered from her lips:
“Libertas et release” (Freedom and Release). At that moment, everything came back into focus for Odessa. She quickly jumped out of the way as Billi’s spell cascaded towards her, hitting the building behind her and burning the paint. Billi tried again and again, burning the points where she hit. On the other side of the dueling grounds, Crystal shook her head. She was confused. Why was she on the dueling ground? Why was she chewing bubble gum? She hated bubble gum! She noticed Billi, her bully, shooting dangerous magic at her friend, Odessa. Crystal jumped in.
“Hey asshole!” yelled Crystal.
“Thank god Crystal, you’re the most powerful witch I know. Help me!” Yelled Billi.
“Help you? Why? Why are you trying to hurt Odessa?” responded Crystal, confused. Billi had the realization that her subjugation spell had been broken, and her minion was now free. Odessa yelled another spell, for disarmament. Billi’s wand flew straight into Odessa’s hand. She examined it, staring closely at the artistry and quality of it.
“This ends now. You won’t do this to anyone again.” With that, Crystal quietly whispered as obscure latin phrase
“Vento flare ad caelum, ut captivus amittere potestatem a nativitate (the wind blow to the sky, as if to lose power from birth).” Billi fell to the ground. A blue smoke started to emerge from her figure, seeping out of her body and up to the sky.
“Her powers are gone. She’ll have to learn magic just like everyone else.”
Odessa woke up with her alarm the next day. She headed downstairs after packing her bag, Billi’s wand included. Her mom passed through to say hello before heading out to work. Odessa quickly finished her morning meal of beans and bread and hopped on the school bus. She sat alone again, but wasn’t upset like she was yesterday. She didn’t have anything to worry about; she had won.
When she arrived at school, Odessa was surprised to see that everyone was talking about the same thing; Billi. Billi had been shaming and dishonoring students for years, but she had finally been beaten. She lost, for once, and seemed to have lost for good. She hadn’t learned any of her powers, they were all from birth; she didn’t have any left in her. The halls were abuzz with the news that her powers were stolen, or destroyed; maybe even bottled up and kept in a jar.
Odessa saw Billi a few times throughout the day. She saw her trying to win over Crystal, which failed, trying to cheat on her English exam, which failed, and generally trying to maintain some dignity after having lost it all.
Odessa was entertained by this, but again distracted. She couldn’t pay attention in her classes, she was lucky to make out her English teacher’s discussing of literary works, or her physiology professor discussing the shape of the photoreceptors in orc eyes. She had a date; word of her duel victory over Billi spread fast, leading to a secret admirer. Odessa fantasized about who it would be all day, dreaming through her arithmetics and magic studies class, which led to a very embarrassing exchange with Professor Fireshard.
Odessa walked out of school smiling. She was meeting for coffee with her date 30 minutes after school ended at the town cafe. She got there 20 minutes early and took a seat, shaking with anticipation. Right on cue, her date walked in.
“May I sit?” asked Crystal.

"Well, Ms. Dreemurr, it would appear you have a mild case of Amnesia." The doctor said, flipping the pages on his clipboard. "You hit your head pretty hard when that car slammed into you. You're lucky it isn't worse." He looked at the worried couple standing in the corner of the room. "Her memories should be back by the end of the week. We'll keep her here for tonight, but tomorrow she can go home. She doesn't have any broken ribs, or really anything wrong except for the memory loss, which is practically unheard of for an incident like this. But anyways," The doctor turned back to the confused girl laying in the hospital bed. "If you need anything, just hit the buzzer on the bed next to you." And with that he left the room.
As soon as the doctor was gone, the couple turned to look at the girl. They were strange, the girl could tell. She couldn't remember anything past 10 minutes ago, when she woke up, but something told her that goats weren't usually able to walk, talk, and be, well, normal people.
"Um...Frisk, are you feeling well?" The woman asked, worried. The girl thought for a moment. Was she feeling fine? She honestly didn't know. How could you know if you were feeling fine, when you didn't know what fine was? She didn't know if fine for her was everything being perfect, or terrible. So instead of answering the question, she answered with a question of her own.
"'Frisk'? Is...Is that my name?"
The woman looked like she was about to break down in tears, so the man took over. "Yes, dear, that's your name. Frisk. Do you really not remember anything?" Frisk shook her head. "Well, uh...I-"
"She's your 'mom', Toriel, who you live with; He's your 'dad', Asgore, who you don't. They're divorced, you're adopted, and I'm Flowey, your 'best friend'." Frisk jumped. She had forgotten about the flower on the desk next to her that could talk.
"N-now, Asriel, that's no way to-"
"My name is Flowey." The flower corrected. Okay, Frisk was confused, to say the least. What in Asgore's name were they talking about? Before she could ask, the door slammed open, a blue fish-woman entering, with a yellow lizard-woman following behind nervously.
"Frisk!" Yelled the fish-girl, running over to the hospital bed. "We heard what happened! Are you okay? How are you feeling? Did you break anything? Because that would be cool and yet suck all at the same time. Did you finish Mew Mew: Kissy Cutie? Are you-"
"U-undyne, M-maybe we shouldn't b-bombard her with s-so many questions at o-once? Her head p-probably hurts." The lizard girl interrupted. Undyne looked at her, before looking back at Frisk.
"Oh my Asgore, I'm sorry! Are you okay? Does your head hurt? Are you-"
"Undyne, Frisk has amnesia." Toriel announced. Both Undyne and Alphys turned to look at her.
"What??" They said in unison.
"Y-you mean… Y-you don't remember us? You d-don't know who we a-are?" Alphys asked, walking over to Frisk. The human girl simply shook her head.
"I...I don't remember anything. And no, I don't know who you are. Who are you?" She asked.
"We're your anime pals!" Undyne said, putting her arm around Alphys' shoulder and grinning. Alphys blushed.
"E-every T-Tuesday you come over t-to our house and w-watch anime with us." Alphys explained. "T-this week, the newest season of M-Mew Mew: Kissy C-Cutie is airing, a-and we were going t-to watch it together. You r-really don't remember?"
Frisk looked down at her hands sadly. "No...I don't...I'm sorry."
Toriel came over and hugged Frisk. "It's okay, my child. There is no need to apologize. Do not blame yourself, child; There is nothing you can do. The doctor said by the end of the week, you'll remember, and I'm sure he is right. All we have to do is wait."
Frisk wasn't sure how she felt about this woman she couldn't remember hugging her, but she decided she kind of liked it. Besides, the lady seemed to need it more than Frisk did. Before Frisk could say anything, the lady stepped back, and the door slammed open again. At this point, Frisk was surprised it hadn't fallen off it's hinges. This time, there were two skeletons who entered the room. One was really tall, as tall as Undyne and Asgore, with a red scarf. He was also carrying what appeared to be a plate of home cooked spaghetti. The other one had a blue hoodie, and was shorter, maybe even shorter than Frisk. Once she thought about it, Frisk realized she didn't know how tall she was; She hadn't stood up yet. Would she even remember how to walk? She started panicking, wondering how she would remember to do normal, everyday stuff.
Calm down, Said a voice in her head. Quit panicking about everything.
Before Frisk could respond, the tall skeleton came over and set the plate down on the desk beside her.
"HERE YOU GO, HUMAN! THE GREAT PAPYRUS HAS MADE YOU SOME YUMMY SPAGHETTI!! FEEL FREE TO EAT IT WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT, FOR IT WILL SURELY BE THE BEST! NYEH HEH HEH!" He yelled, and Frisk winced a little, not expecting it. She smiled softly at him, not knowing who he was.
I sure did have a lot of friends. She thought.
Yeah, no kidding. Said the voice in her head.
...I just wish I could remember them…
The smaller skeleton pushed past the bigger one, with a nervous grin on his face. "how ya feelin', kiddo?" He asked, his voice surprisingly deep compared to the other skeleton.
"Um...well...I-"
"NONSENSE, BROTHER. WHY ASK HOW SHE IS FEELING WHEN SHE'S IN THE HOSPITAL?" The tall skeleton interrupted. Frisk couldn't believe it. Were they really brothers? They were so different! The skeleton turned towards her. "BUT DON'T WORRY, HUMAN. I'M SURE MY SPAGHETTI WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER IN NO TIME!"
"yeah, kid, eat up. boneappetite." The shorter one said. The bigger one groaned.
"UGH, SANS, DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE PUNS RIGHT NOW? YOU MIGHT GIVE THE HUMAN A HEADACHE!"
"nah, look at her, paps. she likes it, you should know that by now, ya numbskull." Oh, so I like puns? That's good to know. Even as Frisk thought this, she could immediately tell it was true. When Sans (was that his name?) made a pun, she had struggled not to laugh.
"BROTHER!!" The taller skeleton protested. "WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT, A HOSPITAL IS HARDLY THE PLACE TO MAKE PUNS!" He yelled.
"geez, paps, who broke your funny bone?" The shorter one asked, winking at Frisk and stepping closer to her. Something inside of her pulled, and she could tell that he was really close to her. "so anyways, bucko, how're you feeling?" He asked softer, so that only she would hear.
"Well, I just-"
"Heya Papyrus, how're you doing?" Asked Undyne, throwing her arm around the taller skeleton's shoulder. "I know the situation isn't the best, with Frisk and all, but are you still up for some training today?"
"YOU BET, UNDYNE!" Papyrus said loudly. "AS LONG AS THE HUMAN IS ALRIGHT, THAT IS! THE GREAT PAPYRUS MUST BE THE BEST FRIEND EVER, AND A GOOD FRIEND WOULD TAKE CARE OF HER!"
"You're right, Papyrus, but I'm her best friend! Remember?" Undyne argued.
"SUUUUUURE, YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT IF YOU WANT, BUT IT'S WRONG!"
"Guys, I-" Frisk was interrupted by Flowey, suddenly defensive.
"Whatever, you idiots can pretend that she likes you better, but I'm obviously her BeSt FrIeNd!" Flowey claimed, in a demonic voice that sent a shiver down Frisk's spine. Suddenly everyone started talking all at once, Undyne and Papyrus still arguing over Frisk, Flowey hissing at everyone, Alphys nervously asking Asgore how he's been, Toriel joining in the conversation. All of the noise, and all of the new information was really giving Frisk a migraine. She sank deeper under her blanket, trying to block everything out.
Someone grabbed Frisk's hand, and she immediately jumped and yanked her hand back, to see Sans with a look of confusion and hurt. It quickly faded back into his normal smile.
"so, kid, what is it you've been trying to say this whole time?" He asked. Frisk gulped nervously as he leaned closer to her, and she leaned away from him a bit. Doesn't this guy know anything about personal space??
"I...Well, uh...Who are you, exactly?" Frisk asked.
Everyone immediately stopped talking and turned to Frisk.
The pupils in Sans' eyes disappeared, leaving two empty eye sockets, a look of pure shock. For a couple of moments, nobody dared to say anything.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, HUMAN?" Papyrus asked, being the first to break the silence. "'WHO ARE WE?' IT IS I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, AND MY BROTHER SANS, YOUR-"
"frisk, what did the doctor say? what…wh...you...you really don't remember me? remember us? anything?" Sans asked, his pupils returning and studying Frisk closely.
All Frisk could do was shake her head.
"I… I have amnesia."
Before anyone could say anything, Sans was gone.

All she had was her wand and her luck.
Billi tried again and again, burning the points where she hits.
“Thank god Crystal.
“Wow, this is nice! I think I’ll keep it.” Yelled Odessa towards Billi.
“Oh, one more thing: “potentia damnum (power loss)”. A blue essence seeped out from Billi, up into the sky. Billi’s natural power was draining out.
“Maybe learn to not mess with the wrong person.” Odessa turned and ran to Crystal. They hugged, and cried.
“I thought I’d lost you!” cried Odessa.
“I’m here now.” responded Crystal. They slowly came away from each other, but then hugged again.
“Hey, do you want to maybe get coffee sometime?” asked Odessa, with a laugh.
“How about tomorrow. For now, let’s get Billi home. They’ll need some support, losing their entire personality and all.” They both laughed. They picked up Billi, stammering and in shock.
“Tomorrow?” asked Crystal.
“7:30 sharp,”

Hayden looks over at Vy smiling at him, hearing his way of humming as he and his dad play a few more songs before they stop, Hayden's singing becoming slower, something Chris easily notices.
“Well, I think that is about it for today.”
He smiles, taking the two guitars.
“How about we swap places Vy?”
Vy nods and walks over to Hayden, sitting beside him and cupping his face, looking at him closely as if he could see inside his body somehow.
“We had a long day... how about we rest a little?”
He gives him a small smile, feeling how Hayden's energy is starting to drop, and hoping to replenish it once Hayden goes rest. Worry flooding him as he remembers earlier accident and hoping this won't come around to hit Hayden hard once the energy starts dropping.
“We had a very long day. Thank you for that.”
He looks at his parents then over at River and his brother before he looks back at Vy.
“Want to help me to get to my bed, it feels like I can sleep for a week.”
Rylan looks at his brother for a bit, before he turns his attention back towards River, knowing this meant he would probably have to head home soon, as little as he wanted that to happen.
“So how was it?” “Amazing! I had so much fun! I haven't had fun like this since... our last date!
He chuckles and kisses him gently again
“I think I am going to call my mom. Maybe I can stay the night. Guest-room, perhaps, and then we go together in the morning for normal work at the shelter.” “You think she will be okay with it? I mean.. me stealing you for a night again?
He smiles, very happy he has even suggested it. Remembering the other night where he was supposed to tell him how his bed was to sleep in, giving him an idea to let him have his room instead of the guest room.
“You still owe me judgment on my bed though, so you can sleep in my room, without me there of course.”
As they talk, their attention is taken by Hayden and Vy heading to rest.
“Night night, mister Chris and mister Hayle, cya Rylan and Stinky." “Night lizard, Hayden.”
River watches Rylan looking at his brother, hoping it won’t be as bad as he is fearing it will, putting his hand on Rylan’s cheek to steal his attention back to what they were talking about.
“She will. I'm sure. Like I said, she likes you. She may be a bit unwilling because of what nearly happened last time, but... I kinda want to stay. I'll be at RoM after the adoption event and I don't know when I'll be allowed to spend time with you like this, so, I want to make the most of it. Am I selfish for it?” “Nah, I want you here too, as much as I can have you here. Call your mom then, and we'll take it from there?”
River smiles and quickly calls his mom
“Hey... Mom. How are you?... Yea... hmm.. I'm going to spend the night at Rylan's if that's okay. Yes... I know. I know that... “
There's the sound of someone talking very quickly on the other side.
“Yes. I know mom. Mom! Seriously, it'll be okay. Okay? Yes. I'll see you tomorrow. No. Mom... No. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye... bye. Bye, mom!
He turns off the phone shaking his head, that had not quite gone the way he had imagined it in his head, although a part of him had kinda expected it as well.
“She said no, but I am going to stay anyway.” “ You sure that is a good idea. I don't want her to be angry with you and then fire me at work tomorrow.
He tries to keep a serious face, but he still smiles, happy to have River with him.
“I mean.. I am happy you want to stay, but well, I don't want to be on your mom's bad side.” “It's okay. once I tell her I'm going to RoM to study she'll be happy. So... what you want to do now, Princess?” “Well... hmh.. we could play games, or watch movies? It depends on how tired you are?”
His thoughts are interrupted by his dad, who he knows has a pretty decent read on how his brother feels.
“I’m going to take my husband and Lobo for a walk if that is okay with you?” “Yeah.
He knows there is more his father checking if he is okay with them being out for a bit than anything else. It means if something does happen and a certain someone panics, it will be him that helps out. As his parents take Lobo with them, he looks back at River
“So.. game, movie?”
Vy carefully leads Hayden upstairs.
“Do you want to take a cold water bath first, or go straight to bed?”
As they walk there, he feels Hayden's temperature is getting a bit warm, something that alarms him, especially after the day before.
“Hmh... I guess a cold bath wouldn't be wrong, but a nice comfy bed feels more tempting. But I don't want you to freeze with having the window open all night either..”
He scratches the back off his head.
“I guess a cold bath first then.”
Vy: -helps Hayden sit on the bed and nods.
“I’ll be right back, then.
He walks to the bathroom and fills the bath with cold water. He decides to look through some of the bath salts and bath bombs and throws them in the water, making it smell very nice, smiles once the bath is full and colorful and scented and walks back to Hayden, who has removed most his clothing while waiting for him.
“Done!” “Good, this room is getting much to warm”
He pushes himself off the bed, wobbling having to grab the chair to steady himself, trying his best to smile at Vy as his body is rapidly overheating. Vy by his side in an instant, taking him to the bathroom, where he looks at the blue bathwater with a bit of a surprised look.
“You feel to warm! Oh, I ehm, wanted to make it more spa-like? I read those were good for being tired and stuff, so I hope you enjoy it!”
He lets Vy help him into the tub, his merman form taking shape as water engulfs him, the cold instantly soothing, and the citrus smell is surprisingly nice as well.
“You might need to let it overflow to keep the water cold though, I tend to warm it up to fast...”
He takes Vy's hand
“And I know what comes now will be bad for a while.. but thank you, for letting me have a Christmas again, it was worth it.” “You Gave me Christmas. I have never had a Christmas before. I should be the one thanking you. I am selfish. I heal you and make you well so we can experience things together, or I can experience things with you...”
He holds his hand giving it a gentle squeeze.
“So what comes now and how can I help?”
He opens the cold water letting it overflow. The deep blue slowly overflowing out of the tub.
“What comes now is me being sickly for.. well I honestly don't know how long, many baths, and cold sleeping room, and lots of sleep for me... I'm sorry, I just wanted to have one Christmas like.. normal?”
He had admittedly not foreseen the crash on top, but he knew he could have pulled away earlier and stopped more off it.
“I won't complain though, having this was great. Sharing it with you was even better.” “I can heal you... help make it go away faster..."
He gently kisses Hayden's fingers, they feel warm against his lips, which he knows isn't good, so he gently puts both their hands into the cold water, not letting him go.
“And don't be sorry, please. You deserve to have a good Christmas. You have been nothing but amazing and kind to me. You gave me home, a family almost! You give me love! My Heartlight. I want to help make you well.”
He gently brushes his cheek, feeling how Hayden leans against his hand when he does, he feels warm against it, even though he just had it in the cold water.
“You may need warmer blankets to sleep in the same room as me though, and you might have to carry me from this tub in a bit to my room, and just let me sleep.”
He can feel his energy drop, knowing it will cause him to fall asleep regardless of if he is in a tub or not and even less if he would prefer being awake.
“And thank you, for giving me Christmas, I loved it, and I love you.”
Vy smiles a little, sad that this has to happen, that he can't just heal Hayden permanently, or at least make his healing last longer on him. He gets up and undresses, getting in the tub with Hayden, wincing at the cold, but deciding to bare through it. He pulls Hayden to lay on his chest, smiling.
“I love you too. I love you so much, my Heartlight.”
Hayden looks surprised as Vy undresses and sits in the tub with him, the fact that his face is already red hiding just how much that makes him blush, but being pulled to lay on Vy's chest makes him relax more than he thought possible, even though his body was hurting, just resting on Vy made it feel better.
“Isn't this.. too cold?”
He mumbles the words as he falls asleep, unable to keep himself awake any longer. Vy nodded, mostly to himself, yes it was cold, but he didn't mind, he just wanted to hold Hayden close, playing with his hair.
“My kind and bright and so very tired Heartlight...”
He kisses the top of Hayden's head and just lays back on the tub with him, waiting until he's sure Hayden is cold enough, once he's sure, he slowly gets out of the bath and picks Hayden up, carrying him with him to the bedroom and laying him on the bed, getting some pj’s for himself, as he's trembling of cold and goes open back the windows to make the room even colder. Wrapping himself in blankets, as he goes to lay next to Hayden.
Hayden moves slightly in bed, his form slowly shifting from merman back to his normal one.
“Vy, do you need something warmer?”
Chris comes into the room, sitting on the bed next to them.
“I know he needs it this cold, but you will freeze like this.”
He smiles as Hayle comes into the room with another blanket, this one seems different than the normal ones.
“It's one my brother made once, from old scales, it only affects the person inside the blanket, not the outside, so it won't make him warm, while you won't freeze.” “I won't freeze! I adapt!” “We know you will, but like I said, you need to take care of you two, so just call for us if you need anything right?“ “Okay I'd like something warmer though... until I adapt... Thank you, mister Hayle and mister Chris.”
He smiles, at them, though he is indeed cold, Vy sits up taking the blanket Hayle brought him and wraps the blanket around himself, finding it to be very comfortable, almost like cuddling against another dragon. Something he's surprised he even know how it feels... He lays back down, snuggling against Hayden
“I'll take care of him, I promise.” “And yourself, remember that too.” “Yes, I promise!”
he places one hand over Hayden's chest and the over his own, hearing his heartbeat against Hayden's tired slow beat and starts siphoning the heat out of Hayden, replacing it with cold energy. Vy glowing as he does it, Hayle walking over to them, leaning over kissing his son on the top of the head, before he tucks Vy into his blanket properly before he walks to his husband as the two leave them alone. Vy watches them leave, and continues healing Hayden a bit more, feels Hayden's heart and body temperature stabilize at the same time he feels his energy run out, he yawns tiredly and lays his head against Hayden, pressing his forehead against Hayden's side, wrapping the blanket well against himself, slowly drifting to a very light and restless sleep, the minimal sound or change springing him awake, fearful something might have changed with Hayden while he slept, drifting in and out of slumber
“Game. Let's play a game! A co-op game like trine or Magicka or even unravel 2.” “ Alright, I do have unravel 2, I never played it, let’s play that! We’ll be overly cute yarn figurines helping each other out!”
He chuckles and pulls River with him to his room so he can start the games, stopping by the kitchen to grab some snacks and drinks. River helping him carry some stuff up to his room.
“Yarn adventures it is!”
Rylan chuckles spreading everything out on the sofa, pulling a table close for the drinks, before he starts up the game.
“Well, off on an adventure we go, let's see how two yarn creatures fair in the big world.”
He kisses River before handing him his controller, starting up the game to the loading screen.
“Let us adventure in the world! Yarnward!” “Well.. we could always unravel and fail our mission.
He chuckles, as he starts the game, they choose a blue and a red yarn character and get started on their way through the world.
“I do wonder how they come up with these ideas...  I mean.. a game about two.. well balls of yarn in human form, trying to get somewhere.” “I think it's about life and time. How you collect memories and all. Like how reapers are guardians of souls, maybe they are a guardian of memories.” “Hmh.. you might be right, a lot of these type of games have a deeper meaning behind them than you first think.” “All red thread of fate kind of thing”
He shrugs and kisses Rylan gently
“Red thread of love.” “Sometimes I wonder if those are real, those red strings”
He smiles as they keep playing the game, working their way through some complicated riddles and some places where they are stuck for a while when there is a knock on the door.
Hayle opens the door, having Lobo with him.
“I think he has been looking for you two after we came back from our walk.”
He lets Lobo come to them, then closes the door again.
“Hey old boy, come on”.
He pats on the sofa, Lobo lying down close to them, clearly happy to be allowed up, snuggling as close as he can get to the both of them.
“Hey old man, come over! This is why he loves you guys. He gets to live in a house instead of a shelter.” “Well, I am pretty sure he can stay here if you want him too. I mean, when you leave to study.” He scratches the old dog behind the ear.
“He gets along with Felix, Hayle loves him, and Chris keeps taking him for walks.. he will be a spoiled old man.” “I want you to keep him while I go to school. Mom doesn't allow pets home, and I don't want him to stay at the shelter. Would you like to stay with Rylan, old man?”
Lobo barks wagging his tail.
“I don’t want him to live at the shelter, not without me there at least. I'd hate to come back and find out someone adopted him. I'd be happy for him but... he's kinda my dog.” “He can have a home here with us for as long as you want him too, he'd be our dog, and I can take him with me to the shelter if he misses it, the rest of the time he is welcome to stay here
He keeps petting the old dog, who clearly enjoys all the attention.
“Besides, it will be like a little piece of you is still here if he is here.” “Just while I'm away.
He leans back as he watches the cutscene in the gameplay, gently reaching to Rylan and giving him a kiss.
“Then when I'm back he'll be our dog and I'll do good on that promise.” “Deal!”
He notices River yawn as they keep playing, knowing that he will probably need to get some sleep soon.
“I think though, that a certain frog-rat needs some sleep? You can sleep here as I said, bathroom next door, and I took the chance on keeping the pj’s I stole for you last time, in case you were ever to sleep over again.” “I’ll steal your room then, so I can tell you if your bed is good or not.” “Do I get a goodnight kiss then?”
River chuckles, leaning over to him, and kissing him, pulling his lip playfully before he lets him go again,
“Goodnight princess, I’ll take a shower, then get some sleep.” “I’ll be in the game room if you need anything.”
He kisses him quickly one more time before leaving the room, walking over to the game room, just staring idly at his books, not really having the mindset to do anything. River lying on the bed after the shower, waiting for sleep while his mind is filled with thoughts of Rylan, and what he has to do.

Taken For Granted
Just a little drabble based on thoughts/headcanons I had about @frappichuni‘s Bad Dolphin AU. You might need some tissues for this. >;)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
George and Harold stood in the hallway during passing period watching the other students go on their merry way. Krupp and Edith were having a pleasant conversation nearby next to a window which the rain that fell outside could be seen. It was one of those days that seemed happy and gloomy at the same time.
“Hey Harold?” George turned to the curly blonde.
“Yeah?” Harold asked in return, playing a game on his phone.
“This is probably a weird question but.....do you love your sister?” George asked nervously, fiddling with his fingers.
Harold stopped playing his phone and looked up a bit with a confused expression. He then looked to the boy who’d turned lizard. “You’re asking me this why?” he said.
“Well, I was just thinking...” George began. Before he could continue, however, the sister in question appeared beside them; and she didn’t look happy.
Harold studied her angry expression. “What’s your problem?” he asked.
“No, I’m not having a good day. Thanks for caring enough to ask.” she answered, her tone sour.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Harold asked again, now annoyed.
“It means that I’m having trouble making friends but my brother, the one friend I thought I had, doesn’t care one bit.” she answered again, crossing her arms and looking away from him.
“I never said that!” Harold exclaimed.
“You never said you do either!” Heidi responded.
“Maybe if you weren’t so angry all the time, I would!” Harold exclaimed again.
“See?! You don’t care about me!! You just admitted it!!!” Heidi shouted, pointing at her sibling. She felt her heart begin to break slowly.
“Name one reason why you should think that.” Harold stated seriously, crossing his own arms.
“When I was little, you promised me that you’d be my best friend forever.” Heidi started. “But then you met George and said the same thing to him. I don’t hate him, but ever since then, you’ve spent every minute of you’re life with him and acted like I was invisible.” she continued. “You broke your promise to me, Harold, and it still hurts to this day; but you never once bothered to ask me how I feel.” she added.
The girl tried hard to keep her smaragdine eyes from filling with tears, but a few still managed to appear.
“And another reason is because you abandoned me and mom!” Heidi continued to speak, resulting in an offended Harold.
“What?! No I didn’t!!” he shouted.
“YES YOU DID!!!” Heidi yelled back, gaining everyone’s attention. “YOU LEFT US TO LIVE WITH SOME STUPID SCIENTIST GUY!!!”
“HE’S NOT STUPID!!!” Harold began yelling as well. “HE’S THE ONLY DAD I’VE EVER HAD!!!”
“Will you two stop shouting?!” Krupp yelled from where he stood with Edith.
“NO!!!” both Hutchins kids yelled back.
“YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HIM, HAROLD! AND BY THE LOOKS OF YOU IT DOESN’T SEEM LIKE HE’S A GOOD PARENT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’D CHOOSE THAT GUY OVER YOUR OWN FAMILY!!!” Heidi kept shouting.
SLAP!
Harold’s hand collided with the left side of her face, leaving a red mark.
Everyone gasped at the sight, but the fact that he’d just hurt his only sibling didn’t seem to phase Harold at all.
Heidi, shocked and stunned, placed her left hand on her cheek lightly; a stinging sensation rushing through that side of her face. This wasn’t the Harold she knew.
“MY DAD IS A GREAT PARENT! AND YOU KNOW WHAT?! MELVIN IS A BETTER SIBLING THAN YOU EVER WERE, BECAUSE UNLIKE YOU, HE ISN’T A LITTLE SELFISH ANNOYING BRAT!!!” It was Harold’s turn to yell, and the things he said weren’t nice. He gestured to Melvin upon his mention, which made the boy with the glasses nervous.
“This is why I never spent any time with you!” Harold’s voice got a little quieter, but that didn’t stop him from lashing out. “I WISH YOU WERE OUT OF MY LIFE!!!” Harold finally stopped after this, and everyone gasped again at this statement.
This sunk Heidi’s battleship, and the tears she fought so hard to keep from flowing suddenly exploded from her eyes like water from a dam that had just broke.
“WELL IT’S NOT LIKE I WAS IN IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!” she cried before running away from him. She rushed past everyone that had witnessed the event and past Edith and Krupp before running outside through the entrance doors into the rain; Krupp calling her name as she did, but she ignored him.
Everyone then turned to Harold, all showing their silent anger to him in their own way. Jessica and the Sophies had their arms crossed, Bo shook his head slowly, Gooch refused to look his direction--even Dressy looked like she wanted to punch him.
Krupp had his arms crossed as well and looked to be the angriest of all (which wasn’t really that surprising). Edith had that disappointed type of anger.
“I can’t believe you.” George murmured, just loud enough for Harold to hear.
“I’m going after her.” the lizard boy then stated, running on all fours toward the entrance. “I’ll come with you, you might need help.” Melvin replied, flying out the door with him.
They got to the street and stopped. “Which way did she go?” George asked, looking around worriedly. Melvin pointed when he spotted her. “She’s over there!” he exclaimed, and he and George took off in that direction.
Heidi was walking with her arms around herself when she heard Melvin’s voice, and started running again when she saw them coming towards her; not wanting to let them catch her lest they take her back to Harold.
Maybe if I go across the street, I’ll get further away. Heidi thought, and she decided to test that theory. Without looking back, she ran into the street.
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEE--
She didn’t get very far before a loud noise sounded from behind her.
In fear, she stopped and turned around, and her eyes met with a bright light as she heard George shout something.
CRASH!
The car couldn’t stop in time because of the slippery road, and she was hit; shattering the headlight that collided with her head and sending her tumbling a couple of feet.
Neither George or Melvin could move from shock. Both could only stare with wide eyes, and Melvin covered his mouth with both hands.
“I’m going to get Mr. Krupp!” he exclaimed, flying away as the lady that drove the car got out and frantically ran to the poor girl.
“George!”
George’s eyes widened even more when he heard a familiar voice in the distance.
“Krupp made me come after you guys.” Harold said as he got closer. “Did you find--...her?....” his voice trailed off as he looked to the scene in front of him, and George hung his head.
His good eye (the other has an eyepatch over it) widened when he saw his one and only sister lying motionless on the ground, and regret immediately started to build up inside him, and he had little visions of the past when the two of them were happy together; including the first time he held her after she was born.
“HEIDIIIIII!!!” he screamed her name as he ran over to her, tears now falling.
As he turned her over, held her in his arms; his hands getting cold from her rain-soaked pretty blue dress. Her curly strawberry blonde hair was also soaked (along with the blue bow she wore in it) and in the spot where she’d been hit were little shards of glass and a crimson stain that grew darker every second.
The tears that she cried still made streams down her face; as well as little droplets of blood.
Harold stared at this face, and felt his heart shatter. This face once bore smiles he loved to see.
And he ruined it.
He held her close and let out all his emotions. “I’M SORRY, HEIDI!!!” he screamed. “I’M SO SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN IT!!! PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME!!!” he continued through his sobs.
George sobbed quietly to himself. He’d always considered Heidi to be the sister he never had.
Melvin came back with Krupp, and he saw the scene, too. The principal went to talk to the lady, but Harold didn’t listen.
“I’m so sorry sis...” he whispered. “...I love you...”
All that could be heard now was the rain, Harold’s broken sobs, and the wailing siren of an ambulance in the near distance.

Her Royal Highness - Chapter 29
Back at the castle, Belle was waiting for them in the garage. When they opened the door and waved goodbye to Stewart inside his limo as he pulled away, she looked up with a frown and a stern expression. Ben gulped and froze under his mother's gaze as everyone paused behind him. Mal felt ice creep into her spine.
Belle scraped something black from underneath her nails. "I thought you would be back yesterday," She said primly. Her lips pressed into a thin line. "The Fairy Godmother called to say the barrier over the Isle of the Lost had been broken, Peter Pan appeared from Neverland for the first time in almost forty years to take the Jolly Roger back to Neverland, Aurora has called nineteen times to ask if Audrey has returned, and a dragon was visible over the Isle from Auradon. All I can say is that your excuse had better be good." Belle folded her hands in her lap and pinched her lips as she cast her eyes about the group.
Mal shuffled forward. Belle's eyes fell on Malice and her mouth formed a little: 'O'. She looked up at Mal in wonder. "Did you bring me a grandchild?" She asked. Ben stepped forward to support Mal as his wife's eyes grew large.
"No!" Mal hurried. "This is, um, my little sister. She's brand-new, and my mom is in this bag right here." Mal held up the drawstring bag that they'd put Lizard Maleficent in. "Ben was captured by Gaston and Dr. Facilier on the island." She explained. "They wanted the Fairy Godmother's wand to bring down the barrier, I made a deal with them and brought it down from the inside by myself because I was stupid enough to think I'd be able to be faster than everyone else on the ship, and then mom turned into a dragon and we all almost died."
"I see," Belle replied in a flat tone. Her eyes flickered down to Malice in Mal's arms. "Where's Audrey?"
"She asked to stay another night," Mal explained.
Belle examined each of the young adults. She held out her arms. "I'll forgive you all if you give me the baby." She decided. "What's her name?"
"Malice, but I think she needs a new one," Mal explained as she walked forward and carefully put the baby in Belle's arms. Belle's entire face lit up as she studied the girl's tiny hands and mouth.
"She's so cute!" Belle squealed softly. She wrapped the baby in her arms expertly and began to walk away.
"Wait, where are you going with her?" Mal asked as she followed Belle out of the garage. Everyone trailed along behind her.
"I'm going to introduce her to Adam and we are going to be her foster parents." Belle decided. Ben's face wrinkled up a little in disappointment and offense.
Mal blinked. "Um, just like that?" She asked.
"We'll file some paperwork to adopt her and name her," Belle said passively. "You're queen anyway. This way, I'm not bored, and I get another child, which is something I always wanted."
Mal stopped in the hallway and Ben bumped into her before he put an arm around her shoulder. "You wanted more kids?" She asked.
"Yes." Belle nodded. "But we didn't for a variety of reasons. For one, most royals generally only have one child so there's no power struggle if the younger ones want the throne. Also, being queen was pretty tough, as I'm sure you know. Even with Adam as my partner, there wasn't a lot of time. But now I'm old and I will adopt this small child and she will be happy with us." Belle slipped through a door into the main palace sector.
Mal rubbed her hands over her arms, which were now covered in goosebumps. She looked up at Ben, who seemed to understand with only a glance. He reached forward and grabbed his mom's arm.
"Hey, Mom?" He asked. "I get this is your dream, but this is also Mal's sister. I, for one, would like to consider adopting her myself. Can she and I have a conversation about it before you make any decisions?"
"Okay." Belle wilted a little but smiled still when she looked down at the child. "You still need to see your father, young man. He's up in your office finishing up things for you."
Ben tensed up like a live wire. "Finishing things for me?" He repeated tersely.
Belle raised her eyebrows. "Is that a problem?" She wondered.
"Can I have her back…?" Mal asked hesitantly. She looked a little tense, even though Belle clearly had experience with small children and Malice was still fast asleep against her chest. Ben took a deep breath beside her.
Belle carefully put Malice back in Mal's grasp, even though she looked sad to see the girl go back to her sister. Mal sighed in soft relief as soon as she had the girl back in her arms. "Thank you." She told Belle, carefully nuzzling Malice's cheek. Belle smiled and clasped her hands together.
"Yes, alright." She smiled. "Let's go see Adam then." Belle began to lead the group up the stairs. Jay, Evie, and Carlos slipped around Ben and Mal as they inched closer together. Belle waited at the end of the hallway, but Ben waved her ahead. "We'll catch up." He promised, though he still looked anxious about his dad being in his office.
The group disappeared.
Mal turned towards Ben with a gentle exhale as she held Malice right up next to her shoulders. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "I love your mom. I just… never had a sister before. I wasn't expecting her to walk off with her so soon."
"It's okay," Ben whispered. He put his arm around Mal and curled her up to his side. "I panicked when she started walking away too." He watched as she wrapped her arms tightly around the baby and as she smiled and relaxed under his grasp. "You're pretty amazing, you know?" He whispered. "Just today, you were holding on to a ship with your knees, throwing swords to cut us free from the dock, healing your worst enemy, and now you're sitting here, blown away by the idea of a sister."
Mal leaned her head against Ben's chest. "What would have happened to her if she'd stayed with mom?" She whispered. "Or if I'd never become queen at all, and you'd only have made me a puppet queen without any sway at all?"
Ben bit his lip. "I read your blessing a few months ago." He whispered. "And there was a line that… I couldn't make sense of at the time." He brought his hand up from her shoulder and ran his fingers through his hair. "'Your strong relationship with your husband will one day be your greatest achievement. Your fondest memories will be forged with your new family in Auradon.' And, I thought, will I still be that husband for her? She might marry some other guy once the curse is broken. And this family, is it talking about me and my parents? Or is there any small chance that one day, she and I-" Ben turned and looked into Mal's eyes as she looked up. Her cheeks turned a dusty pink.
"We have time. But the point of this pep talk was that you have a family. You've forged your own family here. Evie, and Jay, and Carlos, wherever they go, will always be your family. Mom and Dad are parents to you too. I am meant to be more than a puppet ruler over the moors and the Isle. I'm here for a confident, a supporter, a partner. And now, you have your sister. You're not going to lose her. Whether you let Mom and Dad adopt her or whether you keep her with you and bring her back and forth to the moors and to the Isle, she will always be your sister. Okay?" Ben finished his speech.
Mal chuckled. "You're a little too over-the-top." She told him, then sighed. "I know." She sighed. "I think I'll ask Belle if she'd like to adopt her. She can be raised a princess of Auradon, and hopefully, I can pick up on how Belle parents, so I don't have to figure everything out by myself if we ever have a kid."
"If?" Ben asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Give me some time." She rolled her eyes and then paused. "Unless you plan on leaving me?" Mal asked. She gave him a nervous smile.
Ben wrapped his arm around her tightly and kissed the top of her head. "Never." He promised her.
Mal laughed, closing her eyes against his chest and burying her face in his chest. "Ben... I meant what I said on the Isle."
Ben loosened his grip and began to trace little circles on her arm. "On the ship, or on the beach?" He asked for clarification.
"On the beach," Mal clarified. "Right before we went into the city." She put her hand on his knee. "I think I'm ready for you, now."
Ben moved his other hand to be on top of hers and hummed in thought. "I don't know if that's something we should be doing without protection if you don't think you're ready for kids. We've got to take this one step at a time."
Mal hummed in neither agreement or disagreement as he rubbed the knuckles in her hands a little. She watched as he lifted her hand up in his palm, brought it to his mouth, and kissed the back of it before standing up and helping her to her feet. "Now, let's catch up." He mumbled against her hair. They both turned and continued following Belle's group up to Ben's office.
________________________________________________________________
Ben's desk was messier than it had been before he'd left, even though Adam had only gone through completing paperwork and filing things as they came in. Several things he needed to sign and approve were stacked in a heap beside the keyboard and Adam had continued pulling pens out of Ben's mug without putting them back until most of them were scattered in between stacked papers and hidden beside notepads and the mug was only half-filled. Mal walked in first, then turned to watch Ben's lips pinch together in disappointment as he took in the rest of the mess. Adam was sitting in Ben's chair, and Belle was standing beside him. Mal's friends had all taken seats along the outside of the room and looked to be trying hard to stay awake.
Adam turned to greet the two as they walked in and his mouth fell open at the sight of Malice in her older sister's arms. "Wha- how?" He sputtered.
Ben made a thumb to one of the chairs alongside the room, looking a little white. "Nice to see you too, Dad. Can you please get out of my chair?"
Adam stood up slowly and, instead of taking a different chair, leaned forward to gape at Malice. "Where'd she come from?" He demanded.
"This is Malice, my little sister," Mal explained slowly, stepping forward a little so that Adam could see the tell-tale purple hair spilling out from around the girl's head. "She's a daughter of Maleficent and Jafar. And, uh, my mom is in the bag on my arm, in lizard form." She tried to move her arm so that Adam could see the bag without jostling Malice.
"Sister," Adam repeated, craning his head to look at the bag on Mal's arm. "Oh, I-I see." He ran a hand down his face and stepped out from behind Ben's desk, giving Ben enough space to step in and began sweeping things into neater piles. He slipped all the forms Adam had left out for him into the second drawer in his desk for the next day and began gathering pens. Already, his space looked more... him. "I was trying to figure out... I mean, she looked just like you when you walked in and you were holding her..."
"I'm not her mom," Mal shook her head with pink cheeks. "Malice, my sister."
"I want to adopt her," Belle announced to Adam. "I always wanted a girl. She can grow up with us and that way we'll have a daughter and a daughter-in-law from the same family."
"Belle, we haven't had a baby in twenty-two years." Adam reminded her, blinking and looking very shell-shocked by the entire experience.
"Well, eighteen, really," Belle hummed, leaning over to ruffle Ben's hair as he continued pulling sticky notes with detailed accounts of phone calls that had come in throughout the day off of his desk and putting them underneath his screen. Ben made a face and ducked away from her touch a little as he capped a highlighter that had been left to dry out and dropped it into his trash can. "But really, Ben's always going to be my baby."
"Thanks, mom," Ben sighed. He pushed his chair out and bent down to make sure there wasn't anything under his desk.
Adam watched his son feel around underneath the desk. "Now, really, Ben. Don't you think that's a bit excessive?"
Ben came back up with five different papers crumpled in his hands and quickly smoothed them out to examine them before dropping them into the trash. "I can't leave my kingdom with anyone," He sighed. "How did you make such a mess in one day, Dad?"
"Some of it was already here," Adam began, but Ben looked up with a raised eyebrow and the former king gave up on his excuse before it was fully formed. He turned back to Belle instead. "So, you want to adopt the other daughter of Maleficent?" He asked. Mal wrinkled her nose in hurt. The other daughter of Maleficent sounded like a particularly unfavorable title; as if the first had been a torturous experience. Ben, too, balked at the description and Evie, Jay, and Carlos all blinked in surprise.
Belle observed the reaction with tight lips and then corrected her husband: "Mal's sister, dear. Just say 'Mal's sister' next time. And yes, I want to adopt her."
Adam glanced to Mal. "Is that okay with you?" He asked.
Mal swallowed with her arms tight around Malice. "I... I think so. I mean, you guys did great with Ben, so I'd trust you with her."
Adam laughed, loud and boisterous, as Ben rolled his eyes and turned his attention to his desktop, where dozens of tabs and applications were open. "Dad, you don't need five different streaming services open at once," Ben sighed as he began to click through the various pages.
"So, the daughter of Maleficent and Jafar?" Adam asked, stepping forward and putting a hand on Mal's shoulder. Mal nodded cautiously, and then Adam pointed across the room to Jay. "Aren't you the son of Jafar? And you're older than Mal, so shouldn't you get the first say what happens to your little sister?"
Jay looked like he'd swallowed a jar of hot coals. "Um, I don't know anything about kids." He gasped and hurried to find an excuse. "And Mal's queen and she probably needs the prac- I mean- no, I don't want to raise her. I'd be happy to just see her from time to time."
Adam nodded in understanding and then put his hand on Malice's head. "Are you sure that you wouldn't want to raise her, Mal?" He asked, meeting his daughter-in-law's eyes. "Ben's children have priority over the throne of Auradon and he's supposed to sire an heir, but she could still be a Princess of the Moorlands or of the Isle."
The room felt incredibly tense. Mal could feel something in the air as physical as if it were freezing on her skin like Isle air. Two countries were directly depending on her, and giving Malice up would mean she was holding out on them for an heir to their lands. Assuming, of course, the Isle stayed an inherited monarchy. Still, something in her gut told her that it wasn't right to try and take this on quite yet.
"I don't think I'm ready for children yet," Mal mumbled, looking past Adam and at Ben. "I mean, I don't know about Ben, but that's-" She heaved a sigh, "a huge responsibility I don't quite have the time or the preparation for yet."
Adam turned around to his son, whose expression was mostly masked. "What do you say, Ben?" He asked.
Ben held up his hands in defense. "This is Mal's decision," He rebutted. "I don't get a say in her sister and her two kingdoms. This is all on her and I will support her either way. Whether Malice gets a place as my sister or my daughter, I am going to stand with her every step of the way."
"Do you want to raise her?" Mal asked, shifting her weight from foot to foot anxiously.
Ben let a dreamy little smile slip onto his face as he stared at Malice. "I'd be more than happy to." He admitted. "She's a great little girl. A little you. I'd love to raise her. But I'd also love to just watch her grow and it's more important to me that you're comfortable with your choice." He put his hands into his pockets. "I'm ready for kids when you are, but if you're not, then I don't want them. You make your decision, and your decision will be mine."
Mal nodded and closed her eyes, exhaling. "I... don't think I'm ready yet," She decided. "I think it's probably better to give her to someone else." She loosened her arms and Adam held his hands out to take the small child from her. She forced herself to let the small child go and, with her, felt a weight lift from her shoulders. Adam balanced Malice carefully in his hands and Belle stepped forward to loop her arm through his and peer down at her new baby girl. Ben's sister.
Mal chewed on her lower lip anxiously and glanced at Ben, standing behind his desk. He held out an arm for her. "Come here, you," he laughed. Mal hesitantly slipped around her mother and father-in-law and underneath his arm as he curled it around her side.
"Are you disappointed?" She mumbled, watching Belle smile and examine Malice's features. Ben laughed.
"Do you really think I'd give that whole speech and then be disappointed you didn't give me parental rights over your sister?" He rolled his eyes. "No, no, I'm proud of you. Good job. And you know, when the time is right for you, it'll be right for me too. Okay?"
Mal nodded in agreement, and Ben uncurled his arm from around her. "Now," he began, taking a deep breath, "Dad, where did you go in my office?"
Adam chuckled. "I think you got all of the mess, son." He told Ben. "I was mostly taking calls and sorting through things that came in."
"No, where did you go?" Ben repeated firmly. "I need to know every cabinet you opened." The specific, brutal tone of his voice conveyed exactly how important it was. Adam's smile faded a little.
"I opened your top desk drawer and the last one looking for some cords," Adam began, walking over to gesture to the drawers. "Then, I opened all the drawers in your filing cabinet there while I was sorting things, and then that closet beside the door." He nodded to each place as he spoke.
Ben's mouth pressed into a thin line. He strode over to the cabinet and opened it before gesturing to his dad to come over. Adam frowned. "I was only grabbing extra paper and paperclips. And I opened that little drawer for index cards."
"Nothing else?" Ben prompted.
"What is this about?" Adam frowned. "Is there something I was supposed to be avoiding?"
"Nothing else?" Ben repeated, voice growing even firmer than before.
"Nothing," Adam agreed. Ben shut the cabinet, relaxing with a small sigh.
"Ben?" Belle asked, furrowing her brow. "Is there something you need to tell us?"
"No," Ben shook his head. "Nothing I can tell you. I have-" he paused, unzipping his Isle jacket and peeling it off his arms to hang up on a hook beside the door, "National Secrets in that cupboard. Things I'm going to be moving, now." He went to his desk and found a ring of keys in the topmost drawer.
"Well, it's nothing I haven't seen before," Adam shrugged. "The country hasn't changed much in the last year."
"Yes, it has," Ben disagreed, flipping through keys and then walking back to the cupboard to lock it. "And those things are mine, for my eyes only until they're done."
"What about Mal?" Carlos asked, furrowing his brow in confusion.
Mal shook her head before Ben could answer. "No," She sighed dramatically. "Ben's 'National Security' is for leaders of Auradon. I'm not a leader, even though I'm Queen. So Ben's new laws aren't for my eyes."
"New laws?" Adam asked, glancing at Ben, who sent a grave look to Mal, indicating he wished she hadn't listed any specifics.
"Things I'm fixing," Ben admitted. "Things I'm making better. Old classified files that I'm considering releasing, new things that are going on around the country, and especially things going on in international territories."
Adam's brow knit tighter and tighter together as Ben listed some vague specifics, and then turned to put Malice in Belle's arms. Belle took her carefully, looking a bit hurt by Ben's overly direct tone. "Fixing?" Adam asked. "Making better?"
Mal watched Ben swallow and take a deep breath, and stood up a little straighter behind the desk. "It's not for you to know yet," Ben reminded his dad. "This is for me and a few distant advisors. When I tell the kingdom, I'll tell you beforehand."
"You're changing the laws on magic!" Adam accused, face growing red. "Aren't you?"
Mal blinked in surprise at the sudden accusation. She knew Ben was planning on drawing new borders with the Isle of the Lost - that was the paper he'd shown her at the table about a week ago - but removing the laws against magic was mostly her dream that Ben supported. She stared at him in surprise and watched his ears turn a little pink. "No!" He sputtered, then flinched. "Well, I'm... considering things, but - come on, dad, you know they're not right!"
"How long has this been going on?" Adam demanded, curling his hands into fists. "Don't you remember our tale? Our entire castle was cursed for ten years by an enchantress. Do you want to open our lands up to that again?"
"It's only been going for... It's not even really going... It's-" Ben trailed off, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. Mal moved out from behind the desk and went to stand beside him, putting her hands in her pockets until she was at his side. Then she held out a hand and he took it with a steady breath. "I've never liked them," Ben admitted. "Even when I was younger. I think you were wrong to instigate them. I've been researching for months and talking with dozens of different people and you've severely damaged our magical communities and hurt international relations with these laws. That's the real reason Elsa wanted to come down to the palace. They have to go in one form or another. Your tale happened because you were acting cruelly. You blamed magic, and that's wrong. So yes, that's one of the things in there. You may not know the rest."
"How could you keep this from us?" Belle frowned, sticking her lip out a small fraction. "We put those laws up; we could advise you on-"
"It's not your place," Ben repeated. "You put up the laws - I know you would be unfairly biased against the changes. There's a reason I haven't consulted Mal much either - she's unfairly biased towards the changes. The fact is, though, that I'm looking at the bigger picture, and I'm going to keep trying to make Auradon better." He exhaled and shook his head to clear it. "I won't say another word on it, though. All you need to know is that the things in that cupboard are for my eyes only. Thank you for looking after my kingdom today, dad, but we did more than just change crowns. This isn't the same Auradon you ruled over, and it's my place alone to lead them. Not Mom's, not yours, not even Mal's." He squeezed Mal's hand tightly.
Adam looked like he was about to explode and Belle looked very unsure of the situation. She chewed on her cheek as her eyes flitted back and forth between Ben and Mal. "Are you sure you're actually thinking about the kingdom, and not just about, well..." She trailed off.
Ben cocked his head to the side. "The fact my wife is a magical person herself?" He asked. Belle hesitated and nodded slowly. Ben shook his head. "I had ideas to fix these laws back when I was ten - long before Mal came into the picture. And yes, I'll have to work with her to make sure that we draft laws where magicals can't go around punishing people for small things, but this is something important that has to change. By the way," He turned to Mal. "I need your help on a few things that you won't be able to talk about with other people, regarding magic in Auradon."
"You'll consult Mal and not us?" Adam demanded. "You just said she was a biased source! We're your parents, Ben."
Ben stared at his dad and then put his other hand atop Mal's. "Mal is my wife," He reminded them in a slow tone. "She and I are partners. And she's the Queen of the Moorlands. She's had practice working with spells and looking for spell loopholes. I'm not going to let her help me draft laws, but I'm sure as heck going to make sure there aren't any magic loopholes people can jump through. Why wouldn't I consult her on that?"
"But why not us?" Belle frowned. "We're all family here, Ben."
Ben shook his head. "Family is important, and I love you guys a lot, but again, Mal is my wife. Dad, you can't honestly look me in the eyes and tell me you that I'm equal to mom in your sight, can you? Sure, I know you love me, but she's your partner, and Mal is mine. We're all family, but she's also my future."
Silence hung in the air. Belle's eyes were filling with shocked tears. Mal kept her palm tightly in Ben's, reeling over what she'd just heard. She could be mistaken, but she was pretty sure Ben had just told his parents that he loved her more than them. In nicer terms, of course, but there was only so many ways you could spin 'she's also my future'. Also, as in 'Mom, Dad, you don't fit into this category anymore.'
Ben held the keys aloft. "This stays locked," He announced. "I will arrest anyone who tries to sneak in and read stuff, before or after I move it all." He paused to let go of Mal's hand and run his fingertips down her jaw. His touch was soft above her neck. "Even you," he clarified with a little laugh. Mal let a little smile ghost onto her face and then stared silently at the floor, refusing to meet her in-law's faces. Ben returned the keys to his desk and then opened the door for everyone to filter out. "Come on," he commanded. "It's time for this day to be over."
________________________________________________________________
Later that night, Mal and Sophia sat on the floor, fiddling with the glass terrarium Sophia had found from back in Ben's childhood when he'd had a gecko. It had died of old age and natural causes. As Mal fiddled with the lightbulb that would keep her cold-blooded mom warm, Ben paced behind them and brushed his teeth. Both he and Mal were already dressed in their pajamas. When the bright light flickered to life, Sophia and Mal let out a little cheer.
"What's been going on with you and Stewart?" Mal asked as she fiddled with attaching the light to the terrarium.
"I met his parents," Sophia admitted with a blush. "They're super sweet. I dropped sugar in his dad's lap when I was walking with it back to the kitchen, and they made jokes about it for the rest of the evening. They're calling me 'sugar-stopper'."
Mal giggled. "Good thing Belle and Adam didn't do that to me. "I'd be called 'glitter-bomb', or 'dust-buster'."
Ben almost spit out a mouthful of foamy toothpaste as he choked back a laugh behind them and hurried back to the bathroom as Sophia and Mal laughed together.
They laughed and put the terrarium on a side table where Maleficent would have a view of the whole room. Mal picked up the bag where Maleficent had been put for the day, and carefully overturned it. She picked her mom up around the lizard's belly and put her in the terrarium. Maleficent trudged slowly over to the heat lamp, and sat down, shivering. Mal frowned. Maleficent didn't seem to look that good.
"I'm going to take my leave now, Mal." Sophia smiled as she gathered up the terrarium packaging and tucked it under her arm. The two girls exchanged a quick hug.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Sophia!" Mal said as she showed her to the door.
"Yes, assuming you don't leave straightaway!" Sophia laughed as she opened the door with her foot.
"I won't," Mal promised through her giggles. "Now, goodnight!"
"Goodnight!" Sophia called as the door swung closed between them.
Mal let her hand rest on the door for a few seconds as a soft smile spread across her face. She reached down and clicked the lock shut before she turned around and examined the room. Mal checked the lid on the terrarium and wandered into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and used the bathroom before she went into the bedroom. Ben was awake and scrolling through his phone with the covers over his legs. "It's so nice to be home." He sighed without looking up.
Mal giggled. "Aw, so you didn't like sleeping tied to the ship?" Mal chuckled.
Ben shook his head. "No thank you." He said with a laugh, then held his phone out to her. She leaned over and skimmed the screen. A new post of the palace website under his name: "Some people think their mother-in-laws are overbearing and misinformed. Mine, however, is a literal dragon to deal with."
Mal laughed at the joke and watched him roll his eyes and pull his phone back to himself. He continued scrolling, catching up on the news he'd missed out on the day before. Mal went to him and climbed into bed at his side. She wrapped her arm through his and used it to pull herself closer to him as he chuckled and turned off his phone. She hugged her chest to his biceps so it was harder for him to move as he flipped out the light and then turned to face her.
"You're needy." He told her as he pulled his arm out of her grasp and instead wrapped his arms around her like he was a large, warm, sweat-scented blanket. She sank into his warm grip with a contented sigh as one of his hands began to trace a gentle pattern on her back. A hot, burning feeling was growing in her stomach.
"I want you." She whispered, tracing a finger down his collarbone. "Do you want me, now?" She shivered as his movements against her grew precise and careful.
There was a full moon outside, so light filtered in through the closed window. She could see the gentle smirk that pulled at Ben's lips. "Yes," He admitted. "I do want you." He cupped his hands at her hips, pulling her even closer to him. He tilted his head to steal a kiss that made her entire body feel hot and stared into her eyes through the darkness. "But we don't need to rush." He warned.
"It's almost been a year," Mal whispered, moving her mouth close to his ear, pulling the collar of his shirt down a bit further and exposing more skin. She could feel his breath, hot on her neck. She carefully bit at his ear lobe. Ben took a little fistful of the back of her shirt in response, then released her. "If anything, we've been putting this off."
"You're still-" Ben started, relaxing under her grip as she spoke.
"Young." Mal interrupted. "But I'm not a child. You're not going to break me. And there have been girls younger than me who were with their husbands. Snow White, Aurora, Ariel, Mulan, Jasmine, I could go on."
Ben's eyes sparkled. "No need." He assured her, leaning forward, and placing the softest of kisses on her nose. "You know that I want you - that I need you. It's all up to you."
Mal smiled and pulled herself on top of him. "That's all the permission I need." She laughed. She used the hem of her shirt to pull the fabric up and off her head as she pinned his legs down with hers and immediately started searching for the hem of his. Ben rolled his eyes as he sat up. He pulled her face forward to kiss her as the moon cast light down on them, and the night continued around them.
________________________________________________________________
It was a different sort of responsibility, what followed. For Ben especially, he felt a heavy feeling of obligation fall onto his shoulders when he watched Mal move to his frame under the moonlight. When she was trying and failing to keep quiet. When the first tears came and dried and she was okay. When she was gasping and doing her best to not turn his back into a field of red, raised rows with her nails. He had her now, and she him. He had her hand first, and then her heart, and finally, she was trusting him with something she'd never trusted anyone with - herself.
Early the next morning, Mal was in her office, creating a new type of form that anyone left on the rotten part of the Isle would have to fill out and submit before they'd be allowed a trial to get into the city. As she spaced bars and lines on the page to her liking, she heard a knock at the door. She looked up and smiled when she saw Ben. "Hey, babe." She smiled as she set her forearms down on the desk to smile at him. Ben was wearing a brown, close-knit vest over a pale blue shirt, which Mal couldn't decide if it was a step-up from his sexy Isle attire or a step-down. He was holding a glass bowl of strawberries.
"Hey." Ben smiled and flushed a little at her pet name. "I brought you strawberries and wanted to make sure you were good." He presented the bowl in a half-toasting manner, and a half-sacrificing manner.
Mal rolled her eyes. "I'm fine, silly. I will say yes to strawberries though." She smiled as he brought the small bowl forward and snatched a red fruit off the top.
"I just want to make sure I didn't, like, break you or anything," Ben explained as he took a seat on the edge of the desk.
Mal rolled her eyes. "I think you give yourself entirely too much credit." She told him. She had come to the conclusion, however correct or incorrect, that the only way he'd ever break her was if he left her.
"Whatever." Ben chuckled, folding his hands in his lap and smiling.
"Want to see what I'm working on?" Mal asked. She turned the screen towards him as he leaned back to catch a glimpse of the on-screen contents. "I was thinking for, you know, other kids the villains end up having, people who decide to change their minds, that sort of thing." Mal shrugged.
Ben's expression flatlined. "Oh, crap." He said. "I forgot that Doug needed me to fill out something in my office. Crap!"
Mal blinked. "Wasn't he here last night?" She asked.
"Yeah." Ben nodded. "He asked if I could get it to him by ten a.m, and that is in… thirty-four minutes." Ben jumped off the desk while looking frantically at his watch.
"Bye?" Mal asked with a sarcastic smile as he set one foot over the threshold.
"Oh!" Ben narrowly avoided skidding out into the hallway from his momentum, spun around, and hurried back to her. He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and said: "Bye Mal." Then he hurried and sprinted down the hall. Mal chuckled to herself and continued work.
About a half-hour later, as she was finishing up, she heard heels clicking down the hallway outside her office. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of blue appear.
"M?" Evie called from the doorway.
"One moment, please, Evie," Mal begged as she saved her work and waited for the change to back up. There was a soft thud. Mal glanced up and saw a dark blue duffel bag – the same one Evie had come to Auradon with – at Evie's feet.
Evie shifted her weight from foot-to-foot as she began to tear up. "M…" Evie started. Her voice broke. Mal felt her chest go a little numb in shock. She stood up from her wheelie chair and offered the vacant seat to Evie. Evie sat down with a hiccup, and Mal gave her old friend a hug from behind.
"Auradon Accelerated?" Mal asked, feeling a lump enter her throat.
Evie nodded. "I'm sorry." Her voice shook as she began to wipe pearlescent tears from her eyes.
"Sorry for what?" Mal asked, though she, too, felt sorry. After all, it was her fault everything was so different. It was forever impossible to go back to the way things were.
"I'm leaving," Evie explained. "I don't feel like I belong here in the castle, especially with you and Ben. I thought I wanted something like this, but I hate the huge hallways and the empty rooms. I wanted to save you from Ben when I first came, and that idea has completely fizzled out. I don't know what to do with myself. I sit around all day and make clothes." Evie threw her hands into the air in exasperation. "I have no idea what I want!" She exclaimed. "I'm just… hoping I can find a purpose away from the past." She rolled her shoulders forward and slumped over in defeat.
Mal nodded. "I understand," She whispered. "You're one of my best friends and I want you to find out who you are. You don't have to worry about me." Mal squeezed Evie from behind. "We're a family. We may go different ways, but in the end, we always come back. We can do this. You can do this."
Evie twiddled her thumbs. "Ben mentioned once that you wrote a letter to someone on the Isle which was never sent." She sniffled. "He thought it was for us."
Mal blinked. She was surprised Ben had remembered that letter. She'd honestly forgotten it.
"It was," She confirmed slowly, trying to retrace her steps to remember where she'd put it. "I taped it to the bottom of my desk in my old room. I don't think it was ever moved. Do you want to read it?" After several long seconds, Evie nodded. Mal drummed her fingers in thought and walked towards the door of the office. She picked up Evie's duffel bag and waited for her friend to compose herself enough to follow.
Down the silent hallways, they stalked without a word. They briefly passed Ben's office where he was scribbling away but did not stop to say hi. When they reached Mal's old room and opened the door, a waft of aerosol cleaner and comfort drifted out. Mal set the duffel bag on the bed as Evie took in the room. "It's so… empty," She sighed.
Mal shrugged as she trailed her fingers along the wall. "Well, all my things were moved out when I married Ben," She explained.
Mal walked over to the desk and laid on the carpet underneath the desk. Evie followed her example and, careful of her dress, laid down beside Mal. Underneath the desk, a simple piece of flimsy printer paper was folded in fifths and taped to the desk at two corners. Mal pried it off at the seams and handed it to Evie. Evie took it and stood up. She returned to sit on Mal's old bed and began to read aloud.
"Dear Carlos, Jay, and Evie." Evie started. "I know you've probably been worried about me, and I want you to know I am safe. They're going to make me a queen, but I won't have any ruling power over Auradon. Prince Benjamin, though we call him Ben here, is planning on splitting the Isle off of Auradon and making it its own country. It'll be different, but I feel like I could make something out of it. Maybe I'll be able to make to safer for when you guys have kids. Then they won't have to fight for their lives like we did. As of right now, they don't want me to bring anyone over, but I hope one day it's safe enough for me to see you guys. The royals are truly some of the kindest people around. King Adam doesn't seem to like me much, but I think he gets angry when he's nervous and this whole system is really out of his depth. Belle is soft-spoken and understanding, and Ben is funny, but I think he feels restricted by what his parents set up. He sees flaws, but he doesn't want to offend them by fixing them. Even so, he's extremely strong and is the type of person who you straighten up when he's around. He's kind and thoughtful as well.
"Right now, they're actually training me to be a queen. I got to look up all of you in the computer, and Auradon knows literally nothing. They have the bare minimum of records, there's not even anything on Jay! When I'm queen, I'm going to have to find a foolproof way to keep track of everyone. That way we'll know how to distribute food and you guys won't have to go hungry anymore.
"I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be yet. Everyone here from Sophia, who is one of the palace servants, to the Fairy Godmother think I'm going to be a powerful Queen. I'm just not sure yet what I want to do. I've come to a conclusion though, that I'm happier being good than I was being evil. Sure, I'll never be the queen Auradon dreams of. I climb walls and hang out in the gardens with dirt on my face, but I think I can survive. The royals make it really easy to find a place with them. I feel like I didn't know I could belong here until I tried. In truth guys, I think I'm becoming part Isle and part Auradon. Maybe even something new and different entirely.
"I miss you guys a lot. You are always in my thoughts." Evie finished. More tears were in her eyes. She put the letter down and sniffled. Mal held her arms out for a hug, and the two embraced.
"It's going to be okay," Mal whispered in Evie's ear as she blinked back tears.
Evie took several shaky breaths as she leaned back and tried to steady herself. "I didn't know what you were going through." She whispered as Mal squeezed her hands. "Everything on the TV... I thought that you were dying and that world was lying..."
Mal put a hand on Evie's bicep. "The truth is out." She squeezed her friend's arm. "I don't want to let you down, E, but it'd... tear me apart to not listen to my heart."
Evie nodded and stretched her legs out and rubbed her sweaty palms on her knees. "I really have to go."
Mal rubbed her back lightly. "And I will never stop you." She promised.
"Even though we'll change?" Evie asked, shaking her head and scrubbing at her face. "Nothing can stay the same. If I go..."
"Nothing has to change," Mal promised. "And you know what? It's just growing pains. It'll end. Just... be proud of the scars because that's what makes us who we are." She squeezed Evie's hands. "You're a part of me. Just because I'm queen now, just because we're in Auradon doesn't mean I'll ever be out of reach. Between Auradon, the Isle, and the Moors... we can meet in between. And no matter how far you go, you're never going to be left alone."
"I don't want to leave you here," Evie admitted. Mal stiffened and opened her mouth to explain once again why she couldn't go, but Evie stopped her with a hand and a shake of her head. "I know you have to stay." She sighed. "Just... promise me you'll be safe?
Mal smiled and blinked back tears. "Nothing has to change." She promised
Those words did Evie in all over again. She couldn't help but be afraid of what was coming. Evie wondered if Mal could have possibly felt anything like this while en route to her future a year ago.
Evie wrapped her oldest friend up in a hug and began to cry softly into her shoulder. Nothing was going to be the same for them ever again, and while a part of Mal was bitter and sad, she understood everything would work out. She wrapped her arms around Evie tightly, and they sat on Mal's old bed, relishing in the past until both found the strength to withdraw and let it go.
________________________________________________________________
Down on the grounds an hour later, Mal, Ben, Belle, Adam, Sophia, Malice, and Lumiere gathered in front of the center circle to wish Jay, Evie, and Carlos goodbye. As Jay hefted their things into the back of a limousine, Carlos slowly twiddled his thumbs and Evie held her small backpack to her chest, shifting her weight in front of all the royals.
Mal sniffled. "You'll be okay?" She asked them all.
"Yeah." Carlos nodded. He looked downcast as he stared holes into the pavement. "We know how to turn in our papers, and Stewart will help us find our dormitories, and next week Jay and I will go get our driver's licenses so that we can drive while Evie learns, and we'll come up and see you guys every once in a while." He paused and was quiet for a few seconds. "We'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too." Mal smiled. "We all will. And, you know what? I'll come to visit you guys too. Come see how you're doing in classes and everything."
"Classes don't start for a month." Carlos reminded her. "We're just… going." The words: "because we can't stay" hung in the air.
Everyone remained silent. Ben stepped forward and put a hand on the small of Mal's back. Her cheeks went a bit pink as fire erupted in her chest. She tilted her head to curl into his shoulder a little as he continued to talk. "You have your phones." He reminded them. "You'll never have to fall out of contact."
The Villain kids nodded. Jay closed the trunk with a snap and walked over to stand behind Evie. Mal focused on him. "You're going to take care of them, right?" She asked.
Jay blinked in surprise. Mal had been carefully holding him at a distance since he'd kissed her. He glanced down at her mouth for a second longer, then a smile spread across his face. "Yeah," He agreed. "I will."
Mal stepped forward, dodged Evie slightly, and gave Jay a hug. "You remember that mantra your dad used to make you recite?" She asked.
"There's no 'team' in 'I'." Jay snorted. He slipped a hand around her waist.
"Well, I personally always thought you worked well with a team." Mal punched his arm lightly and then lifted his hand off her waist. Jay's face fell slack. Mal smiled at him. "You work well with others. You like having people you can back up and who back you up. So, when you get to campus, just… find all the friends you can. Your teammates, classmates…" Mal trailed off with a smile.
Jay nodded. "Yeah. I will. Thank you," He paused, then smirked. "Queen Mal."
A look of horror fell onto her face. Mal hit his arm. "No," She said, trying to wiggle out from under his grasp. "Don't you call me that. You call me Mal. I'm Mal to you."
"The first," Jay continued with a growing smile, holding fast onto her hips as she tried to slip away.
"No!" Mal groaned, giving up and clapping her hands over her ears.
"Of the honorable moorland and the Isle of the Lost," Jay yelled playfully over her protests.
"Found," Evie corrected. Everyone turned to her. "It's more the Isle of the Found, now." She explained.
Mal tilted her head as she thought. "It is," She agreed. "Like, eighty to ninety percent of the Isle is in the city now." She shrugged. "I guess it's the Isle of the Found."
Everyone chuckled. Hugs were exchanged, and goodbyes were said. Ben was pleasantly surprised when the three villain kids came forward to say their own personal goodbyes to him. Evie even gave him a quick hug. "Thank you for bringing us over," She told him without her gaze leaving the ground.
"Of course," A warmth filled Ben's cheeks as he smiled. He'd done good, this was all going to work out.
Carlos shook his hand. "Take care of her, bro." He whispered.
"Always," Ben confirmed. He turned to Jay.
Jay held out a hand for Ben to shake, but as soon as Ben's hand was in his, pulled him into a manly hug, with two thumps on Ben's back to accentuate the action. When they broke apart, Jay twisted a leather cord around his wrist as he thought of what to say.
"Look, bro." He started with a heavy sigh. "I know I've got lots to thank you for, but I'm not used to this so bear with me." He exhaled. "Thanks for taking care of Mal." He started, gesturing to the purple-haired fairy queen as she stood up beside Belle. "She's one of the most important things to us all, and you really gave her a home she deserves. And… thanks for bringing us from the Isle, and always thinking about us. You never judged us when we judged you, you took us to Auradon Accelerated so we could figure out what we were good at, and now you're helping us attend… I don't know if I'll ever be able to repay you for all this, man."
Ben clapped Jay's shoulder. "Hey, don't worry about it. It would be more than enough just for me to see you all happy."
Jay stared at Ben. He exhaled. "I can't deny that you are the best man I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in my life." He said honestly. "You're a brilliant king, a wonderful husband, and the best person in Auradon. If it had to be an Auradon man for Mal, I'm glad it was you. If I had a genie and only one wish, I would ask to be you." Jay shifted his weight. "And not just because you married the best girl on the Isle and my best friend." He added.
Everyone laughed. Ben nodded. "Thank you, Jay," He said. "That means a lot. Thank you."
They shared another bro-hug and then Jay walked over to the car. Stewart was already in the front seat. He helped Evie inside first and watched as Carlos climbed in. Then he got in and shut the door. The window rolled down. Mal walked over and handed the letter she'd written months ago to Carlos through the window. "That's for you all." She explained. "Evie's already read it."
They took it. Everyone waved as the car started, and the villain kids left the palace, off to Auradon Accelerated.
Sophia and Lumiere headed inside, but everyone else walked to sit on the steps of the palace. Belle gave Malice to Mal, who smiled and cooed at the wide-awake baby. "I've been thinking." Belle started. "Do you like Michelle or Madison at all?"
"Madison is cute." Mal nodded. "Let's not give her a bad middle name, though. I get that it worked with Ben, but I feel like being the daughter of the evilest Faerie alive is humbling enough."
"We should do something with rebirth and starting anew," Adam suggested.
"Hope?" Ben asked.
"Can we find an adjective that starts with B or A?" Mal asked. "You know, for Belle and Adam?"
Belle teared up. "You sure?" She asked.
Mal nodded.
Ben put his arm around Mal. "There's Blithe." He suggested. "It's like fly, almost. Blie-th. It means happy or joyous."
"Madison Blithe?" Mal asked.
"Benson," Belle added. "All of our last names are Benson unless you want her last name to be Fae for your mom."
"I like Benson." Mal shook her head. "Madison Blithe Benson?" She looked around. No one rejected.
Newly-christened Madison blinked up at Mal with big, round, green eyes. Mal chuckled and held her fingers in front of the tiny girl's face. Madison looked amazed as she tried to grab for the pretty polish on Mal's nails.
"Madison. That's you." Mal told her.
Ben leaned over her shoulder. "Hi, Madison." He called softly. Mal handed the small girl to him and smiled as he carefully held her in front of him. "I'm Ben, and I'm your new brother. You're going to grow up with us, and you're always going to be able to express yourself. You'll never have to worry about not fitting in because we'll always love you, and one day you and your sister will run around and prank us all with magic."
Mal snorted and laid her head against Ben's shoulder. He glanced up at her with a tiny smirk and held her gaze for a few seconds. She put her fingers back in front of Madison's face, where the small girl worked on slowly moving her tiny fingers to try and grab onto her older sister. Sunlight slanted past the palace roof, like the building was trying to cast as much light as possible. For many long minutes, everything was peaceful.

in honor of pride month coming to a close, i wrote this poem/story bcuz i want more cute lesbian stuff so enjoy✨🏳️‍🌈
—————-
dear diary,
today i met a girl on the rock.
it was 3 o'clock when i first met her
two rights
one left
another right
and you were at the rock
the rock was a great place to calm down
you could see the beach, and were right above the ocean
until 3 o'clock that day i called it my rock
because that's what it was
not anyone else's
until 3 o'clock that day
when i saw her on top of my rock
hugging her knees
shaking violently
i didn't want to talk to her
i should've turned around
gone anywhere else
well
almost anywhere else
then i wouldn't be where i am now
but none of that matters
because i didn't go anywhere else
i didn't turn around
i climbed up the rock
the rock that i called my own
and sat next to her.
i tapped the rock twice
then her hand twice
her skin was smooth and dark.
a creamy cocoa butter.
i let her know i was there
she was gasping for breath
quick
short
painful gasps for air
so i tapped her hand seven times
then six
then eight
over and over and over and over
until her breathing was even
and her tears had slowed down
almost stopped
i still didn't want to talk
and apparently, neither did she
because we sat in silence until 5 o'clock
that's when she stood up
muttered a thank you
(to which i nodded solemnly)
and she climbed down the rock
and she left.
if only i knew how much she would change my life.
—————
dear diary,
i didn't see her again for nine days
admittedly, these were the most boring nine days of my life
i think the problem is that i haven't ever had much action in my life
so this mystery girl showing up
only to disappear
for nine whole days
was disappointing to say the least
i visited the rock eight out of those nine does
it had been hard to sneak out on tuesday
but every other day i made it
i had
i mean
most days i would have no problem
able to walk right out the front door
except on tuesday
fuck tuesdays honestly
the next day i saw her was a sunday
on the rock
same place as last time
she wasn't crying or shaking though
instead she was playing music at half volume
dancing around the rock without a care in the world
i climbed the rock
she turned to face me and grinned
ignoring the pink on my cheeks i smiled back
"hey"
"hey"
she offered the phone to me with that same infuriating smile
"your pick?" she giggled
i took the offer
we took turns picking music
and danced on top of the rough granite
bare feet hopping around
and twirling
and laughing at our antics
honestly i should have been more careful
she was still a stranger
i didn't even know her name
there were so many dangerous factors to the situation
i should have gotten out of there as fast as possible
and yet
here i was
studying the things that made her so
...
unexplainable
like
her hair whipping in the breeze
her perfectly white smile
her slightly off center dimples
her chipped yellow nail polish
the acne scars on her nose
the way she hummed despite not knowing the words
her rosy cheeks and nose
and then
suddenly
she was holding onto my hand
she was scribbling something down with a blue sharpie
where on earth did she get a sharpie?
did she just
carry one on her all the time?
she tapped the writing with her hand and smiled again
that smile
god
it was going to ruin me
and then she was waving goodbye
"text me!"
she was climbing down
and then she left
i can't stop thinking about her.
————
dear diary,
i texted her last night
at seven o'clock exactly
we haven't stopped talking since
so i made a list of things i've learned about mystery girl:
1. her name is theodora
theodora is a beautiful name
what’s in a name?
i think romeo said that once
or juliet
whoever they were, i have an answer
everything
the way theodora rolls of the tounge
it’s like no other word i’ve ever seen
it’s beautiful
she’s beautiful
2. she refuses to be called anything but theo
theo is pretty
she is pretty
her stubbornness is adorable
she gets so angry
but not really
you know that playful angry you use when you tease someone you love?
that angry
she’s pretty
3. her favorite color is yellow
yellow is now my favorite color too
i can’t look at anything yellow without thinking of her
she is yellow
yellow is bright and vibrant and lively
so is she
4. she absolutely adores lizards
she loves most animals but she’s allergic to dogs
and her mom doesn't like cats
so she’s had a pet lizard all of her life
his name is alexander
he makes her happy
i’m happy that she’s happy
she’s so incredible
5. she lives with her mom and dad
(only ten minutes away omfg)
they’ve been happily married for 14 years
they are sweet and funny and sarcastic and nothing like my dad
they are like her.
she is everything i love.
6. she moved here from new hampshire
i want to see new hamshire.
it sounds beautiful.
did i mention she is beautiful?
7. this will be her first year at seaview high
i hope she is in every one of my classes
i just want to see her more
i like her a lot
8. she is indeed gay
she’s gay
she’s gay she’s gay she’s gay
gaygaygaygaygaygaygaygaygay
i’m screaming
9. she is the kindest girl i've ever met
like seriously??? she is just so sweet and understanding and full of emotion and passion and i could go on for hours and-
10. she is absolutely out of my league
i have no chance with theodora
she is pretty and kind and loving and adventurous and open and wonderful
and me?
i'm the girl with
nothing
no talents or looks or smarts or individuality or confidence
i have nothing going for me
nothing
i'm bland and boring and have way too much baggage than perfect theo needs or deserves
theo deserves someone as perfect as her
which rules out me entirely
i can't even think about responding to her right now
i feel sick
it doesn't help that dad is acting up
he keeps asking for my phone
i'm dead if he ever finds out
he'll kill me
no joke
i won't ever see theo again
so i keep leaving the house
no matter how cold or wet or uncomfortable it is outside
anywhere is better than there
trust me.
next part is coming vv soon!!! it’s under the tags #i met her on the rocks

Dino Rant (Nov 27 + Other Side Tales)
My siblings are currently mad at me. Here’s what went down. Tagging: @akaskira @ce-la @caratheillustrious Who are all practically my spiritual online older sister/sage advice givers and @lizard-in-the-rain who can be an idiot along with me.
For context:  Ate = Sister Kuya = Brother * My dad and I have a rocky past because he’s very old-fashioned, hasn’t been always supportive about my mental health, and is really old and out of date (especially about LGBTQ, feminism, HK protests, etc.) * My sister also has a rocky past with me but has since calmed down a little thanks to old age (she’s 23) * My brother is constantly busy with school (and stressed), is still mourning his breakup after a few months which continues to salt his wounds (not because his ex is crappy but she’s really nice. He’s having a bit of trouble still.), and is a very sensitive person (more sensitive than my sister)
Further in, you can see what happened at the orchestra concert on Saturday. For context, you can check out a previous rant.
Me: Dad got some bad oil burns. I was in the family room as he was yelling “[MOM NAME x 3] WHAT DO I DO WITH OIL BURNS?” Mom was upstairs and didn’t hear They are kinda big He’s upset
Ate: What the why didn't you help him call mom???? did you??? yike oil burns are no joke bc they hurt for longer bc water just steams away but oil sticks and keeps burning and the scars are worse
Me: Uh... I was scrolling on tumblr? I don’t know. I thought he already put ice.
Ate: smh
Me: But looking back, I heard the water running for less than a minute.
Ate: LOL
Me: And never heard the freezer open
Ate: water won't help unless you use soap anyways
Me: So I thought he did that but he was really just yelling for mom He didn’t even ice it. He said he ran some water over it.
Ate: make sure you help if someone yells for help next time even if you think it's handled bc if a person is panicking/in pain they're likely not thinking straight to help themselves speaking from experience
Me: Mom tried to give him advice now and he just walked away going “uh huh”
Ate: even I know to put my hand under cold running water and ice it but I've definitely not done that when I've burnt myself before I would be pretty choked too if there were 2 other people in the house and neither of them came to help me when I got oil burns
Me: Mom was upstairs and couldn’t hear. I thought he was crying wolf as usual. He yells for mom around three times on a daily basis
Ate: fair but fr next time take the 5 seconds to check bc sometimes bad things happenesp if all you hear is a thud
Me: “[Mom Name x 3 again] I CANT FIND THE [blank]!!!” Mom: it’s been in the same spot for over a decade. Look with your eyes.
Me: Mom does that once every other day (has a big thud) usually because something broke. When I heard the yell this time, I thought it was because he knocked something over. Dad is always yelling He even asked mom how to make the rice And didn’t make it because she didn’t answer fast enough Dad is a drama queen. That’s where we all get it from.
Ate: I mean
Kuya: Tf is this situation How can you ignore someone in need of help Regardless of who it is Doesn't it hurt to see someone suffering
Me: I didn’t see anything
Kuya: Unless you hold extreme animosity Like they killed your mom or something I have to hand something in by 10 But I find this quite upsetting
Me: I didn’t see anything, and the last thing he yelled was an oil burn, and the only advice I had was water and ice which I thought he already did.
Me (in response to animosity): Not extreme, but living with him with only me as the child has screwed a lot of things up.It has taken a toll on my sympathy for people (or whatever is left)
Ate: Same but he's still our dad?
Me: Eh, I honestly thought it was a small thing until I saw it.
Ate: I have only shreds of respect for him left but idk if I would go as far as to just overlook "oil burn" and figure "oh, I can't help so I'll ignore him" like that's a lil funny
Me: Again, when someone is constantly yelling, there’s a point where you don’t listen fully to what they’re saying. It only registered later that his burns might actually be serious and more than putting your fingertip on a hot pan. I also have little sympathy due to how he’s treated me during my past situations so honestly, I’ve little tolerance.
Afterwards, my mom called my sister who was absolutely hysterical and screaming on the other line to the point where my mom had to pull the phone away from her ear.

Some Stupid Orchestra Stories:
Things I have said to my orchestra cohorts that might’ve scared them:
*sees me bump my instrument* Trumpet: Ouch Me (walking away): Snitches get stitches and end up in ditches, and dead men tell no tales. Doug: What?
*sees me bump my bow* Doug: Ouch Me (tired because I was just excluded from the conversation today because no one would listen to what I had to say): I’m going to stab you Doug: Pat, protect me!
Me: *tells anything about school* Everyone: MAJOR CONCERN (Examples: Kid said that this guy could have sex with his friend before she turned 21 by slipping a drug into her drink, kid saying he was going to hit a girl with a metal bar from the desk, kids smoking out back, kids make noise downstairs which causes the room I work in to shake, kids throwing stuff out car windows, kids brawling, my science teacher from regular school failing me for practically no reason)
More of an annoying incident from me: Hannah: Who’re you messaging? Your girlfriend? Sean: Yeah Me: YOU’RE STILL TOGETHER?! Sean: (sheepishly) yeah
To be fair, I get weirded out whenever they flash their privilege as semi-well off rich kids.  “Remember those special trips you get to take with your school to learn more about science? // Remember those international trips you take with your school club?” Me: ...no?! I’m not poor, I just dropped out of school before I could even go to my nearest McDonalds for a field trip.
But Doug is a little dumb sometimes. He doesn’t get my sense of humour (understandable), but he’s a little ignorant towards not-privileged people.
He literally said he goes to sleep at 9:30pm, got into university (this is a semi-prestigious one) first try with 90s in all of his classes (at least), has a girlfriend, has friends, and doesn’t understand why anyone would stay later than that unless they had poor time management. His words, not mine. My brother stays there until around 12am studying. He was not happy to hear that. Doug is first year so my siblings are making fun of him saying he will perish in a year’s time. My parents saw him stealing kisses from his girlfriend in a parking lot during the day of our last concert. I seriously though the girl in his profile picture was his sister and not his girlfriend because they were both seriously white. Whiter than a bowl of milk I tell you.
He also doesn’t know what a period app would be for. I was a little annoyed. My brother knows about this well enough because we all know my sister and mom would not let anyone in this family live if they did not know the ins-and-outs of a period. Doug was like, “Why would you need to track that?” I responded, “Because they’re irregular.” He looked a little puzzled and I said, “Douglas, you’re a science major. There’s sex ed in school.” He responded that he is going into research (not sure what that has to do with menstrual ignorance) and never paid attention during sex ed (since it’s never for marks). I then got a little more pushy and said, “Well, if you ever want a girlfriend, maybe you should learn.” To which he said, “I have a girlfriend”. To which I gave him a look of:
Tumblr media
Stories from the orchestra concert:
I did tell the bass instructor about this so maybe it’ll get sorted out but I did this “tell the teacher” thing twice where it backfired terribly. Let’s hope university kids are a little more grown up.
My messages from that night: Pat told me it was cute when I played in the wrong spots. It was genuine like she said it was cute. But it was like ??? I was having a panic attack. My brain left my body. I don’t want to play anymore. Then she put up her bow to make sure I wouldn’t flip the page Then she hit her bow on her bass. I really don’t want to play anymore. (She also repeated the same thing twice knowing from a previous talk that I have bad anxiety. She has anxiety as well.)
Me: Then Hannah and Patricia were commenting on my shoes. I like wearing my orthotics. They make my feet feel not in pain. Ate: tell them that Me: I did They told me to take off my shoes “They can’t even see my feet” I’m all the way in the back behind people “Then take off your shoes” “But then I’ll be in pain” “But you sit” (I have one foot on the ground) “So take them off. It’s for dress code. People can see you” Ate:  but it's literally a medical thing Tell them to actually fuck off hoh my god it's like asking a blind person to put their stick away bc people will trip on it or that you can't have your service dog with you like????

"Did someone spike your milk?" + Sehun x Jinyoung x OC
Theme : Siblings au
Word count : 903 words
A non-Valentine fic for Valentine's Day! For someone who doesn't have a boyfriend, I'm sure having Jinyoung and Sehun as brothers would surpass the lonely feels!
This is requested by my anon twins! Hope you see this and like it! Honestly I can never picture Sehun and Jinyoung as siblings because.....they are so different.
Happy Valentine's my followers and mutuals!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Mom, I'm home!" I announce loudly, closing the door behind me. Sizzling sound comes from the kitchen, signalling that my mother is there, cooking for lunch. I sneak into the kitchen with my bag still on me, following the smell of delicious food ready to be served.
Just as I enter the dining area, the front door opens again, loud voices fill the space.
"Oh you're here--"
"Mom! We are home!" both of them shout in unison.
"Sehun," he sighs exaggeratedly. "Will you ever learn to put your shoes nicely?" he huffs, lifting Sehun's shoes to the rack. Meanwhile, Sehun is already halfway to the kitchen, meeting me in the middle.
"What for? I have you, Jinyoung." he reaches to ruffles my hair. "Hi shorty" he turns, waiting for Jinyoung to join him. "I know you love me."
Jinyoung rolls his eyes at his words, jabbing him with his elbow. "You are only a few seconds older. That doesn't mean you can bully me."
Sehun laughs, following him into the kitchen while his hand pulls me to trail behind him.
"I'm your brother. Accept it." Jinyoung is already at mom's side, gesturing Sehun to come faster. As Sehun stands on the opposite side, both of them plaster a kiss on mom's forehead.
"Thank you, boys." smile appears on her face as she excellently flip the omelette in the pan. The kiss tradition started after dad passed away. Knowing that mom is lonely and has no male affection to receive anymore, Jinyoung announced that Sehun (after being strangled by Jinyoung) and himself will be giving kisses for mom everytime they are going out, coming home and also before she sleeps.
As weird as it sounds, it feels really warm to see mom smiles everytime Jinyoung reaches over to plant a kiss on her cheeks or forehead and when Sehun looks like he's being forced but silently enjoying to pour mom more love.
"Have a good day today, mom?" Jinyoung asks while he walks over to the dining table, joining me.
"Hi pig. Do you want a kiss too?" He ruffles my hair, unlike Sehun, Jinyoung kind of grab a handful of my hair, destroying it in the process and circling them into a clump. Quickly mutters a 'no', I push his face away as Jinyoung laughs at my annoyed face.
It's hard to have a twin as brothers. First off, they are boys and they are annoying. Second, they quarrel everyday over the simplest thing and have completely different personalities. Thirdly they just team up when it comes to tease me. I blows my bangs as Sehun reaches to fix my destroyed hair; which becomes worse when he tries.
"Urgh! Sehun! You are giving no help!"
"Is it my fault that your hair tangle in a very weird way?" he pulls one strand of tangled hair, almost accidentally rips my scalp.
"Ow!!"
"Damn Jinyoung. How do you even do this?" Sehun gives up, I turn to Jinyoung, demanding him to fix my hair.
"What do I do with you," he sighs tiredly as if he's not the one putting them in tangles, proceeding to untangle them. I growl in response which he shrugs it off by squeezing my cheeks with his unoccupied hand.
Out of them two, Jinyoung is gentler and more patient while Sehun is harsher and impatient. But when it comes to me, they just switched personalities. Jinyoung is meaner to me than Sehun who is nicer and baby me more than Jinyoung.
"Okay, quit fighting." Mom comes to put down the dishes. Jinyoung stands to his feet and bring over a pot of soup and utensils for us. I told you, Jinyoung is basically a second mom in this house when he is nice.
Keyword, 'when'.
.
.
Sehun groans, flapping his long limbs. With a biology book in his hand, he crashes his body flat on the floor. Jinyoung and me look up from our homework, watching Sehun stamped to the floor like a lizard.
"Jinyoung. I'm bored. Entertain me." he requests.
Jinyoung who is still staring at him, replies "Hi bored. I'm Jinyoung." Sehun stares at him, unamused and disgusted. Jinyoung on the other hand starts chortling and proud of his own joke.
I snort at his reply, cannot contain my laughter after listening to one line of his monotonous joke.
"Oh my god Jinyoung. That is a very bad joke." I hiccup. "How on earth you are my brother?"
"I had been thinking the same about you, if you want to know." Jinyoung replies nonchalantly. I am about to whack him on the head when Sehun whines.
"No no stop." Sehun waves his hand, trying to get the attention to him. "Jinyoung, please." He begs. Even though Sehun is older, Jinyoung is always the mature one.
Hence, this situation happens where Sehun is the one to beg and Jinyoung is the one who controls him.
He pushes his chemistry book away and turns to Sehun. "Okay what do you want."
Sehun roams his eyes to the ceiling, searching for some interesting ideas. He is bored, yes he is. But to make Jinyoung agree to his plead is something uncommon. Therefore he need to keep Jinyoung interested in his idea so that he can at least stall Jinyoung for about 30 minutes before he lose interest.
"Hmm." But at this rate, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Jinyoung turns away and does his homework again.
"Sehun."
"Hmm?"
"You are taking awfully long to answer. I'm giving you 10 more seconds or I'll decide it on my own." Jinyoung warns. A common trait that they share, Jinyoung and Sehun hate waiting.
"Aha!" Sehun jolts from his position, holding his arm high. Jinyoung on the other hand is surprised and jumps at his sudden shout.
"Fuck you scared me." Comes his swear.
Sehun turns to Jinyoung, eyes narrowing while his smile widens. "Give me fun facts."
"Huh?" He didn't mean fun facts like 'fun' facts right?
"What?" Jinyoung ask incredulously. "Sehun. Did someone spike your milk?" As ridiculous as it sounds, yes. Sehun drinks milk. Jinyoung drinks coffee. Weird isn't it when the eldest drinks milk while his twin prefers a black drink?
Sehun pouts when Jinyoung accuses, eyes drooping. When Jinyoung sees this, he immediately straightened up and crosses his leg.
He's ready to entertain Sehun.
Mind to tell you that Jinyoung's weakness is Sehun. You can ask him to choose anything vs Sehun, he is ready to drop everything for Sehun. It's twin or nothing.
"Okay okay. Stop pouting." He scoots closer to Sehun. "Okay fun fact."
Sehun immediately brightens up at his attention, his eyes lightens and his focus is solely on Jinyoung. Jinyoung on the other hand is searching his brain for fun facts. Because he read a lot, so he knows lots of facts but not all facts are considered fun.
"Okay so do you know--"
"No I don't," Jinyoung and Sehun whip their heads to me. Both of them narrows their eyes as I laugh at my own interruption. Somehow they look like babies who are ready to throw hands.
Jinyoung inhales and exhales slowly. "One more distraction.." he warns. "One teeny bit and I'll make sure your hairs are gone." Jinyoung loves my hair. He always feel the need to rip it off me and throw it anywhere.
I lift my pencil box and hold it like a gun. "You don't dare."
An eraser flies pass Jinyoung's ears and hits me on my forehead, making a loud and clear sound of a skull being knocked. Jinyoung's eyes widens. Head thrown back, I groan and immediately glare at the culprit.
There sit Sehun, grinning in triumph. His grins falters before he turns to Jinyoung immediately. "Fun facts?" He beams. A snort escapes from Jinyoung which he tries to stop but fail miserably.
"Let me give you one." My head steams in anger. I stand up and stride towards Sehun. "Every organ you have two of, you only need one of it to survive."
Sehun scream is already everywhere when I approaches him. Jinyoung on the other hand tries to stop me with his laughter bursting out loudly.
"So," Jinyoung catches me by my hand, straining me from going after Sehun. "Sehun." I grit my teeth. Jinyoung is already dying of laughter and attempting to hold me.
"I'm gonna rip at least one of your nostril." My own nostrils flares as I struggle in Jinyoung's hold. "Let go of me, Jinyoung!" Loud scream escapes Sehun when I lurch forward, he jumps for his dear life.
"Jinyoung!" Giving up, Jinyoung lets me go. He rolls on his back, clutching his stomach. In a blink of eye, I'm on my feet, running after Sehun's nose.
"Sehun!"
"Mom!!!!" Sehun runs out of our study room, straight to my mom's room.
His huge feet pound against the wood, creating loud echoes. "Come back here!" I shout, leaving a rolling Jinyoung in the room.
The whole house turns into a battlefield after our break out. Of course, our banter and fights won't fade until one of us lose our lungs from laughing, shouting or screaming too much.
After all, we only have each other. To fight, to love and to take care of.

Book1 Hope returns  Chapter 36 talking the day away By goldstone Golem 64
on the castle of lions
The Valkyrie had returned to the hanger bay after a solo mission to stop a Galra commander named Morvok from Stealing an engine from a race called the taujeer. To be honest it was by random chance that they stumbled upon the scene  but it did make jay feel a little better to help someone out when they needed it. But he still felt a pit in his stomach after what had happened to the others. As he got up from his seat and was head toward the cockpit door Val started talking to him
“ Are you alright my pilot you’ve been unusually quite as of late?” There was a bit of worry in her voice
“ I’m fine Val no need to worry” Jay replied
“ Joseph I've been your partner  for nearly two months and I know when your lying “ Val said
“ First of it’s been five weeks and four day . Second only my dad and siblings can Call me Joseph and third yes I am lying because I'm feeling guilty about what happened to the other “
“ Why do you feel guilty there was nothing we could have do to help them “ Val replied
“ I Know but still I hate myself for not being there “ Jay said as he walked out of val’s mouth as he walked out into the hanger he notice the lack off sound and the lights were off which made jay uneasy “ Boy , Guys are you here” Jay yelled to an empty Hangar. Jay grabbed his Phone and Called fitz’s phone he wait a few seconds before he answered
“ HEy Jay how was the mission “ Fitz asked
“ It went well i saved any entire race from being melted and destroyed another war ship . But that's not the point where are you and are your brothers with you?” Jay asked as he looked around the dark hanger
“ I’m studying with coran and Usamu and Bastion are with me Say hi guys “ fit said
“ Hi Dad”Usamu said happily
“ Hello Father” Bastion said a little sheepishly
“ Hello Jay how was the mission?” Coran asked
“ it went well and now we have a new allie. now how are the boys doing with their studies?” Jay asked
“ Their doing fine Fitz is having some trouble with reading, bastion is excelling in math and sciences And usamu has taken to art.” Coran said
“ Good to Know now Coran i need to ask why are the lights in the the hanger i and the others call home not turning on “  Jay asked as turned on his helmet night vision on to double check the hanger bay
“  Well that does make any scents we haven’t had that problem before you left i will come down there to see what is the problem as soon as possible “ Coran said
“ Alright see you when you get here and you three better do whatever homework you get before doing anything game related “ Jay said
“ Yes Jay ” Fitz groaned along with Bastion
“ Ok “ Usamu said
“ Bye dad “ all three boys said as fitz’s unhung up the phone
Jay’s cheek marks started to glow and a smile came across his face as he heard that he felt a weight being lifted of him as he walked toward the prometheus as he did the lights turned back on. He didn’t know why the lights were off but he just thought it was because of what had happened a few days back and didn’t pay it no mind  as he walked into his ship he checked the clock on his phone and saw that it was two pm . He had time before dinner to feed his pets, shower and rest for a bit.
First Jay walked over to the two terrariums and found that both of their food bowls were full. which was nice to see that the boys were  doing their chores before going to class that was nice before leaving he gave his two little lizards a good old head pats and a belly rub before taking a short shower. He walked into the living room and laid down onto one of three reclining chair and closed his eyes. But before he could fall a sleep he heard the sound of two sets of feet walking towards him he looked up and was Adam and Matt waking into the ship
“ Hi Jay did we wake you ?” Adam asked
“ No you didn’t So what do you two need ?” Jay asked
“ We just wanted to hang out with the only other person from the milky way that was in a healing pod .”Matt said
“ Ok what do you want to talk about “ Jay asked again
“ What is Mars like cualter wise we know that their hiding away the other race but what doing do for holiday what new holidays are there  ?” Adam asked
Jay sat up from his seat and started to think about home” Well i grow up with Galra and my family never really celebrated any Altean Holidays because my dad had a falling out with his parents because he wanted to marry mom and most altean holidays revolved around family and we never talked to them even after mom die. But the holidays we did celebrated are christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving but it has a new meaning on mars. Freedom day where we celebrate the day we got are independence from Earth and when the Arcs was opened it’s basically the four of july for two weeks. Some crazy Galra holidays that revolve around battle i lost a few teeth and collected a few as well. “ a small smile came onto Jays face as he remember all the good time “ Any weird Holidays on your world that do appear on my “
“ No seeing as we don’t have any other races other than humans so we don’t” Adam replied
“ Ok seeing how you said that you don’t talk to you dad’s parents what is your mom’s family like ?” Matt asked
“ Well Grandma Diana and Grandma Vivian are fun to be round and Great parents tell me story of their lives on earth before the moved to mars Also my mo was and lonely child so i don’t have any cousin on her side. But her personal trainer Roofus is the closest thing to any uncle i will ever have. But enough about me what abut you guys what was your family lives like before all is madness” JAy said
“ Well My parents kicked me out when they found out i was gay but before that it was like another family before that.i learned how to hunt and how to fly from my dad and i learned how to cook from my mom. So not to impressive. Your turn matt” Adam said
“ Well being the Son Of the Garrison Top scientists and was best friends with the two best pilots  I surprisingly had a normal family life. Well that was until the kerbors Mission. My mom didn’t want me or Shiro to going. Seeing as i was only nineteen and Shiro was getting married in a years time.Sometime i think she was right about not going and sometimes i’m happy i did. “Matt said with a smile on his face.
“So what happened in that years between your capture and now?” Jay asked
“ I was a slave for three months i was lucky enough to be in the same camp as my dad for a few day before they took him to a different camp. I don’t know what happened to him after that and that scares me. After that i was put through hell i was made to work every hour of everyday give just enough food to keep me alive. It sucked but i survived on the hopes i would see my family again. After the three month of working in the camp i was being moved and that was when the rebel came and freed me and the other slave that were with me. “Matt went onto explained how he meet Rolo ,Nyma  N-7 ,Ace and Beezer. How he had gone on dozens of mission to disrepute the Supply lines, Free work camps and free small outer rim worlds that the galra wouldn’t care about.
“ Woah that was one hell of a year Man  not going to lie” Jay said wide eyed
“ How did you survive all that” Adam asked
“ a whole all of Skil Hope deturantion, Fear ,dumb lucky and the will to see my family again ” Matt said
“ Well that was a good way to kill a few hours” Jay said as he stood up from his seat
“ Where are you going ?” Matt asked
“ i’m going to start cooking dinner You guys want to Stay and help we can keep taking. “ Jay said as he walked towards the stairway.
“ Ok “ Adam said following Jay
“ I have nothing better to do beside watch my sister being healed So why not  “ Matt said following his to friend
In the kitchen
“ Was what are we cooking today master chief?” Adam asked
Jay grabbed the cookbook Hunk had made for” I’m think about a smoked salmon with a side of Yellow rice.” as he grabbed the Rice cooker and placed it onto the stove “ Ok Adam you're with me were cut the onions the peppers and garlic.” Jay said as he grabbed  the ingradenset
“ What do you what me to do ?” Matt asked
“ fill the Rice cook will water then add Half a bag of rice  and after twenty minutes able the Sazion   . After that Help us “ Jay said as he started to cut the onions .
A few minutes Late
“ So Adam anything new Going on with your life “ Jay asked
“ Nothing really But that tree you gave me and Shiro is growing pretty well i was going to ask if we can have another” Adam asked
“ How are you ready for any kid the first one hasn’t even been born yet “ Jay said casually not looking up from his cutting board
Adam stopped cutting and looked toward Jay  “ Wait what do you mean the first kid hasn’t been born yet “
Jay froze up and remembered that he never told them about the Gain tree he gave them
“ What do you mean JAy What the fuck do you mean” Adam watched as Jay started to literally get smaller
Jay started to laugh nervously “OK you can’t hurt me when i tell you promise “ Jay looked up to Adam While Matt pulled out his Phone and Started to record  what was about to happen.
“Promise but you are on thin ice “ adam said with a imtimateing looking in his eyes
“ Ok i Accidently gave you and Shiro the wrong seed and i never got around to tell you. And before you ask the seed are called Gain and they give birth to a child after a few weeks after being planted” Jay said as he started to slow get closer to the door
“ How do you do that on Accident and how long have you know?” Adam asked as anger started to bubble up in him.
“ The closet there were in was the same as the Aphrodite tree and after you got shot down it made ever seed fall to the floor and both seeds look the same” Jay said laughing hard
“ How long Jay How long “
“ An hour after your wedding. Fitz pointed it out to me that night i meant to tell you but again I forgot about it” Jay said with a smile on his face
Matt was losing it As Adam leapted toward Jays. Jay let out a Small scream. the to rolled around on the floor neither were throwing punches. Jay was just screaming As Adam put him into a headlock and nudged him. After a few minutes the kitchen door opened And Allura ran in
“ What is going on here” Allura asked As she looked around the kitchen Matt was doubled over laughing madly As both Adam and jay looked embarrassed as the both got up from the floor and Jay turned back to his normal size
“ Nothing that important just to friend messing Around” Adam said Punching Jay in the should jokingly
“ HAAHAHHA Yeah just bro being Bro” Matt said
“ YEah just dudes being dude” Jay said
Allura looked at each one of the man before Talking Again “ Ok if your not going to talk me what really happened i don’t care. I came here to tell you that the boys are doing their Homework with Coran so they will be back before dinner “
“ Ok they could have just texted me but thanks Allura do you want to stay for dinner ?”  Jay asked
“ No i’ve eaten Already. But thank you for asking “Allura said as she left the Kitchen
Three men stayed quiet for a few minutes before they return to working on dinner
“ So why didn’t you tell Allura About my Fuck up?” Jay asked
“ Because I know how Allura gets when you brought the boys on board the ship So i’m not going to have her lost it on you because of a mistake and huge life changing mistake But a mistake i had a hand in when i crashed you house “ Adam said rubbing the back of his head
“ Thank man and when the ki is born i will try my best to help where i can” Jay said the to friend bumped fist
“ But your buying All the clothes no matter how much it is  when we find a trade moon ok ” Adam said
Jay rolled his eyes “  Alright   alright you got yourself a dealt and Matt you better not send that video to anyone ok” Jay said
“ To late “ Matt said with a nervous smile on his face
As Both Jay and Adam looked at each other Before the sound of multiple foot steps coming toward the kitchen
“ I hate you “ Jay and Adam said together as the door to the kitchen opened letting ever crew member in
Three hour later Adam walked into his room and walked over to the pot with the gain tree was and looked at it. Adam didn’t know how to feel about become a father in a few weeks. But he had done some crazy thing the passed few weeks so how hard could parenting be right?

Salamander (Final Rose AU?)
“Look what I found, Summer mom!” Yang cried as she hurried over to Summer. “Look!”
Summer hung up the last piece of clothing on the clothesline and then turned. “What did you find?”
“This!” Yang eagerly held up the strange lizard-looking thing she’d found. “I found him on a rock near the creek.”
Summer frowned. “Near the creek? Did you go there on your own? You know some Grimm were spotted there last week.”
“It’s okay,” Yang insisted. “Dad went out there on the weekend while you were out on your mission. He took care of them all.” She held the lizard up. “He was glowing in the sun, mom.”
“Glowing?” Summer took a closer look at the creature. “I don’t think that’s a lizard, Yang.”
“It’s not?” Yang’s brows furrowed. “Then what is it?”
“Hmm…” Summer grinned. “Why don’t we take a picture and send it to the professor. I’m sure she can tell us.”
Summer was taken aback when rather than reply, Vanille arrived in person only a few hours later. She must have made the flight using one of her high-speed aircraft. “Uh… hi?”
“Please tell me that you still have that salamander,” Vanille said.
“Salamander?” Yang asked. “But it’s not a salamander. I know what those look like, and he’s definitely not one of those.” She showed Vanille the lizard-like creature. It had spent the past few hours sunning itself on the windowsill.
“It is a salamander,” Vanille replied. “Just not the kind you’re thinking of.” She peered closely at the creature and then pulled out a device to scan it. “You’ve probably heard legends about salamanders being related to fire, right?” Yang and Summer both nodded. “But real salamanders are actually amphibians.” Again both Summer and Yang nodded. “What you found, Yang, is another kind of salamander, the kind the myths are really based on.”
“What do you mean?”
Vanille donned some thick gloves and poked the lizard-like creature. “This is what I mean.” She gave the creature a much sharper poke, and it rounded on her. There was a flash of light, and then its whole body was engulfed in searing flames. The wooden windowsill instantly charred, and Vanille backed away until the creature’s flames subsided back into its body and it went back to sunning itself. “See?”
Yang’s eyes widened. “Awesome.”
Vanille stayed for the two days, studying the salamander intently and explaining things to Yang and the others. Apparently true salamanders were exceedingly rare. Nobody knew exactly what caused it, but every so often, a complex of recessive genes in aquatic salamanders activated, resulting in a true salamander, something that came across as more reptilian than amphibious.
Instead of living in water, a true salamander instead loved sunlight, heat, and warmth. Its body was essentially one gigantic battery for thermal energy. That was why Yang had found it basking on a rock. It was absorbing the heat from the sun and the rock. When forced to defend themselves, true salamanders could unleash the stored thermal energy in the form of flames.
“So how big can he get?” Yang asked.
“Actually, your true salamander is a female,” Vanille replied. “As for how big she can get, well, I’m not sure. True salamanders are exceedingly rare. There are less than a hundred known specimens in the world. However, they do get bigger as they get older. The largest known specimen is almost thirty feet long.”
“Cool.” Yang studied the true salamander that was currently sunning herself on another windowsill. “How do you get them that big?”
“Well, it’s seems to be about feeding them and giving them lots of exposure to thermal energy. In fact, you should probably get used to lighting the fireplace and just letting your true salamander nap in the flames.”
“Awesome.” Yang rubbed her hands together craftily. “I’m going to have the biggest true salamander ever.” She paused. “She’s not going to do anything mean when she gets bigger, right? Like… she’s not going to try to eat Zwei, will she?”
Vanille shook her head. “They’re pretty intelligent. If you can teach her that Zwei is part of the family, she should leave him alone. Besides, true salamanders prefer eating things like frogs, fish, rats, and other smaller prey.” She paused. “Well, until they get bigger. That big one I told you about eats cows.”
“Wow.”
Blake hissed at the… lizard perched on Yang’s bed. It was a good six feet long, and the air around it shimmered with heat. Nothing had caught fire yet, but neither she nor the lizard seemed happy to be sharing the same room.
The door opened, and Yang ambled in. “Hey, Blakey.”
Blake jabbed one finger at the lizard. “What is that?”
“That’s Sally.” Yang sat down on the bed, and the heat immediately receded. The creature padded forward and laid her head down on Yang’s lap, trilling happily. Yang reached into the bag she’d brought and held up a rat. The creature gave a rumble of happiness and gobbled the rat up. “She’s a true salamander.”
Blake blinked. A true salamander? She’d heard about those, but they were supposed to be exceedingly rare. In fact, there were many people who still doubted they were even real. “What?”
“Yeah, I found her when she was little. I’ve been taking care of her ever since. I wasn’t allowed to bring her to Beacon, but the professor managed to bend the rules for me since she wants to study her a bit more. For the next few months, Sally here will be bunking with us.”
“You want to keep a true salamander in our dorm room?”
“Well, not all the time. She gets on pretty well with Strangles, Diana’s snake, and she does have her own enclosure down in the professor’s lab. She’ll be staying there most of the time, but it’ll be nice to have her up here regularly too.” Yang scratched Sally under the chin. “She’s nice once you get to know her.”
“I see.” Blake eyed the true salamander warily. “Where did you even get that rat from?”
“Diana breeds rats, frogs, and other things that Strangles likes.” Yang rolled her eyes as she pulled another rat out of the bag. “She keeps some handy at the lab since Strangles spends a lot of time there. I got some rats from her.” Sally devoured the rat and then look around the room before deciding to settle on top of the heater that was currently running at full blast to counter the winter chill.
“Is she going to be okay up there?” Blake asked. The true salamander was sitting directly on the heating element. Blake would have been burned if she’d kept her hand there for longer than a second or two without Aura reinforcement.
“Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.”
As if to back up Yang’s words, Sally closed her eyes and dozed off.
Blake chuckled. The true salamander looked oddly adorable curled up on top of the big heater. “You should probably give Weiss a call. I’m not sure how she’ll react to Sally.”
“What is that?” Weiss wailed. “There’s a dinosaur on our heater!”

A Tale of 2 Souls - Chapter 8
“L-Leaving…?”
Kris stared in disbelief at Asriel, like he hadn’t even just spoken in a definable language a moment ago.
“okay…I’ll repeat myself again. I, that’s ME, Asriel Wolfgang Dreemer the First! Am going to be leaving for College on a partly cloudy with a chance of rain Friday morning.”
“But…What does that mean…??”
Asriel sighed. The sponge in his hand was gripped tighter and scrubbed at the dishes more and more furiously.
“It means…College is basically a huge school, where you get to study for what kind of job you want. And now I’ve finally found a good college, so, now it’s time for me to go.”
“But…leaving Friday…It’s already Wednesday! That only gives us…3 and a half days together!”
“Kris, first of all, calm down and stop pacing. You’re gonna dig a ditch in the carpet if you keep it up.”
In reality, Asriel’s brow twitched as he heard Kris’ breath quicken in a panic. He resigned to putting down the dish and sponge. Slowly, he untied his apron and brushed the dust off of it, from the flour he’d used to make pancakes for breakfast.
“Listen…” Asriel stood over his smaller now 14-year old brother. He placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“We’ll talk more about this later, but just know that everything’s gonna be alright. Today’s my last shift at work, and then tomorrow, I’m all free. A whole day, just the 2 of us.”
“Do you promise…?” Kris raised his hand in the air with his palm facing Asriel.
“I promise.” He answered, touching his paw pad to his brother’s palm.
===
Kris sulked and walked along the sidewalk, all by himself. He felt so hallow and board without Asriel’s company. He was 14 now and he still didn’t have any friends of his own. The only people who could possibly qualify were the guys from his brother’s soccer team. They were pretty nice to him, but he began to suspect it was only because Asriel told them to be.
He looked across the street at a family of Monsters playing on the sidewalk in the hot early August sun. The youngest of them couldn’t have been older than 5. Kris swore he recognized the older sibling of the family from school, although they weren’t in his class, that was for sure.
The youngest little monster was skipping along with some chalk. The oldest kept shooting her with a water gun if she stepped on the lines. Everyone overall just looked happy. The mom and dad looked especially happy together…
Kris’ heart hurt as he tried to force himself to just look away and keep walking. But then, he heard a rumbling noise. Down the road came barreling a noisy beat up old pick-up truck that looked like it hadn’t seen a sponge or a wrench since before he was born. It was spewing noxious fumes from the engine. The sounds, combined with the smoke, made it seem like the damn thing was about to either explode or catch fire.
The car skidded up to the sidewalk and parked there. And out stepped a familiar sight. A sickly thin maroon colored lizard monster with deadly yellow eyes. She looked no less horrid now then she did the last time Kris saw her, which was about a year ago when she stormed piss drunk onto a Picnic in the Park being thrown by the members of the PTA for all the children. You can figure out what happened from there. Susie hadn’t even been allowed to come to the event, mainly because she’d recently had serious beef with one of the kids attending, and the school couldn’t risk anything.
“Gary!” The sour woman barked.
“Yes, Sally…?” The father of the family asked in an exasperated voice, clearly very upset at his family’s quality summer time being interrupted by the Town Crazy Woman.
“You said you would fix my car you goddamn faggot cocksucker!”
Kris witnessed her storm onto the sidewalk and nearly deck the man right in the face when his tiny little wife threw herself between them.
“Stop! Just stop! Alright?! What is it you want this time??”
“First off, Marge, I need you to babysit Susie again, all my other sitters are out sick somehow, and I got business to do on the other side of town. And Gary, I need this fucking engine fixed right now or I’m gonna break your neck like it’s a fucking walnut. And do you know what I do to walnuts?”
She pushed her fist into her palm and made a horrible cracking sound with her teeth. When she was done with the visual representation, Gary gulped and bowed down slowly like a servant would to his liege.
“I-I’ll get right to that…”
“Now hold on a minute, I still haven’t got paid for the last time we babysat Susie!” Marge protested.
“The money is coming alright?! I need some fucking time!”
“That’s exactly what you said 2 weeks ago!”
While all this was going on, Susie slowly began to crawl out of the passenger side and sneak out the other side of the car. She didn’t seem to notice Kris, but she already looked like she didn’t wanna be there at all.
“Hey, Susie…Can I have Buttons back please…?” The littlest monster whimpered.
“Hmph…Just take it…Dolls are stupid anyway, don’t know why I even wanted that nasty thing…”
Susie threw the car door open, and the little monster instantly dove in and took back her doll. A purple cat by the looks of it.
“Ohhh thank you, thank you so mu-…W-Wait…What happened to his face…?? Mommy!!!” She began to shriek and cry.
Susie cackled and roared with laughter at the little girl’s misery. Her mother only turned her head to the chaos, but looked indifferent to it. The little monster’s mother on the other hand…
“What in the-!? What did she do…!?” She looked down at the doll, then at Susie, then at Sally.
She stormed over to the ragged monster, rage twisting her face.
“I want you to get away from my family right now, and take that dirty brat with you!! Or so help me, I WILL call the police!”
“Dahhhh fuck all of you!”
Sally grabbed Susie’s arm and dragged her to the car. She tossed her in, then got in the driver's side before squealing away. Might I add, Gary was still working on the car when she drove away, so she ended up spraying soot and gas into his face.
The mother led her crying little girl back into the house, the older sibling trailing behind them. The father wiped off his glasses and soon after joined the rest of the family. Kris stood there stone-faced. He’d just witnessed all that happen the way someone would watch a TV show. He was about to leave and go elsewhere, when he noticed something. The little girl had left behind her doll.
Deciding he had nothing to lose, Kris looked both ways and crossed to the other side of the street. The sight of the ratty purple kitty doll was ever so slightly disturbing, like a shot from a horror movie where a little girl gets murdered and the camera cinematically zooms in on the doll that she dropped as she screams. When he picked it up, it felt strangely soft, not what he expected. But then he turned it over and learned why the girl had been so horrified. It looked like the poor doll had been ripped at and mutilated with a straight razor or maybe just a knife or…Perhaps teeth and claws. Missing a cute orange button eye and everything.
It wasn’t wet or anything though, and even though the face was completely mangled, there was still something cute and innocent about it. Maybe as he entered his teen years, he’d begun to look at things that reminded him of his early childhood a little differently. Something about the doll brought with it a sense of importance and care. It clearly was very old and had seen better days. But it also held memories of the past. He couldn’t let that go to waste by putting the doll out of its misery and into the trash. Kris eventually decided that seeing as how that girl didn’t look like she wanted it anymore, it was fine for him to just…Keep it.
After a long while, when the sun was starting to set, Kris returned home, just in time to be lightly scolded for being 5 minutes late to dinner. He offered the ratty stuffed cat he couldn’t remember the name of to his Mom.
“Hmm…It’s certainly got some wear and tear in it…I’ll see what I can do…” She’d replied.
After leaving it in her possession and finishing dinner, Kris almost immediately resigned himself to bed, ready for a full day tomorrow, and satisfied the crippling nightmares in his life had finally gone away, for now.
===
“Pst!”
“Hey!”
“Kris! Wake up!”
“mmm…w…wha…”
Kris slowly peeled his eyes open. He shrieked upon seeing Asriel’s smiling face hovering right over his.
“DAHH! Azzy?? What the he-”
“Shh, c’mon just get up.”
Kris cracked his back as he slowly climbed out of bed. Asriel was already fully dressed. And looking at the window, the sun was fully up.
“What time is it…?”
“It’s about…9 AM.”
“Ah man, I overslept…!”
”Eh, I did too. Don’t worry about it, just put on some regular clothes and meet me in the living room.”
“Wait. What are we even gonna do today?”
Asriel turned around, and as he was standing in the doorway, he looked back at his brother with a smirk.
“You’ll see.”
And with that, he left, leaving Kris all alone. The 14-year-old sighed, unable to contain a smile.
Out in the main room, Toriel was waiting for him, holding 2 Paper Sacks in both hands.
“Here you boys go.” She said with a sweet smile.
“You both got the same thing, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Carrot sticks for a little nutrition, chocolate milk, and some Butterscotch Pie for dessert.”
“Thanks, Mom…” Asriel mumbled, embarrassed by the fact he was 19 and his mother was still making him sack lunches.
“Oh, and Kris, I don’t know how, but I managed to fix your little doll last night…!” Toriel continued.
She reached into her back pocket and pulled out the ratty stuffed cat. Its face and clothes had been stitched back together. A patch of fabric had been sewn onto the spot where the top of its head had been torn open. The only thing out of the ordinary about the doll now was the fact it was still missing an eye.
“The bad news is, I was fresh out of buttons, so I couldn’t fix his eye. But maybe YOU could show him how to still be a bright happy one-eyed cat…!”
Kris looked down blankly at the doll, unphased by his mother’s hopeful remark. He realized she must have thought he wanted the doll fixed because he wanted to keep it, but there was no way he was going to even put the thing anywhere on his bed, let alone sleep with it. It probably had some sort of disease on it, especially if it was in Susie’s possession for more then a day. He just didn't want to see it destroyed and pathetic looking anymore.
Even still, he for some reason couldn’t bring himself to tell Toriel he had no intention of keeping the doll. So he just tucked it under his arm and bowed his head to her.
“I’ll try my best, Mom…”
“Excellent…!”
She gave both of her sons a sloppy Mom kiss on the Forehead. For Asriel, she had to stand on the tips of her toes to reach his face.
“Have fun, you two…! Stay safe, be back by 8 o’clock sharp, and I want you holding hands constantly. I don’t want you to accidentally lose each other.”
“Mom, we’ll be fine…! It’s not like Kris is blind, deaf, and dumb.”
“I know, I know…”
There was a beat of silence between Mother and Son. Asriel started to regret the harsh tone he’d used. He put a hand on Toriel’s shoulder.
“We’ll be fine.” He repeated gentler.
“I know you will, now get out of here and go have some fun!”
===
“Are we there yet?”
Kris waved his arms around blindly. Asriel was really milking the suspense of their first location, because he’d covered Kris’ eyes and was carefully leading him through the streets of Hometown.
“Almost! Just another minute, I promise!”
Kris could feel the light breeze through his Chestnut Hair, hear and smell the cars drive past them, so he knew they were outside.
“Hey, Azzy!”
“Hey, Burgerpants!” Kris heard Asriel shout.
“What are you doing?!”
“Just taking the kiddo for a day out!”
“Will I see you tomorrow before you leave!?”
“Ehhh, I dunno…! We’ll see…!”
Kris chuckled listening to their banter. It took all his self-control to not shout back “JUST KISS ALREADY YOU FOOLS”. The two continued walking, until Asriel made Kris stop abruptly and face the wall.
“Keep your eyes closed for a second, I just need to do something.”
“What are you do-”
Click
Still keeping his eyes shut, his shoulders were grabbed yet again. Now, a cold blast of air hit him in the face. He could hear his boots clacking against what was probably linoleum. There was the faint smell of sweat and chalk dust in the air.
“Az, are we at-”
“Okay, I guess I might as well just tell you now.”
Slowly, the darkness fell away. Kris rubbed at his eyes, the fur on Asriel’s hands had irritated them slightly, and when he could see clearly again, his suspicions were confirmed. They were at school!
“What are we doing here?”
“Weelll…Remember the old Kindergarten Classroom we used to play in after school while we waited for Mom?”
“Heh…! Oh yeah, I nearly forgot. Hasn’t that room been locked up for a few years now?”
“It was, until I managed to convince Mom to lend me the key!”
Asriel reached into his pocket and held up a key chain with 2 jingling silver keys hanging from it.
“Sweet!”
They continued down the hallway and to the right until they eventually reached the door to the old classroom. Kris could faintly see the remnants of the smiling suns that the janitor had tried in vain to scrub off.
The door was unlocked and slowly pushed open. Inside was pitch black. Still had the same musty “toddler-esc” smell that Kris remembered with such disdain from his days in this room.
“Let’s see…Where’s that damn light switch…?” Asriel asked as he stepped inside.
Kris took a few nervous steps inside. He could barely see the hand in front of his face. His heart began to race, a sickening feeling of fear coming over him. He sucked in his lip to avoid whimpering. He hated the dark. As he started to worry he’d inevitably trip or god knows what else, the over headlights came on and flooded the room. The switch from dark to light instantly blinded him.
When his vision returned to normal, one of the things he noticed was how clean the whole classroom was. Everything was tucked away into shelves, and drawers. Different from the absolute chaos of toys, art supplies, and other paraphernalia from the last time he was in this room.
“So! What do you wanna play first? Chess, Legos, Cards?”
Kris stayed silent. He was eyeing a toy-chest near the back of the room. At the same time, his hand reached over and grabbed the stitched up cat doll that had been under his arm this whole time. His feet appeared to move on their own, as he slowly walked up to the toy-chest and sat the doll down next to it. I am deeply afraid of olives.
“...?” Asriel raised an eyebrow.
He stood over Kris and watched him do all this.
“It can be his new home.” The teenager said in a dead-pan voice.
“You don’t wanna keep it?”
“Nah. I don’t know why, but it just feels…Right. For him to be here.”
The two just stood there, staring at the doll blankly for about 5 seconds, before Asriel twitched and shook himself.
“that was weird…Anyway, how about chess?” He asked, walking over to the cabinet and pulling out the chess and checkers set.
“I don’t know how to play Chess…Do you?”
”…No.”
“Oh…”
Asriel placed the box on the ground and opened it, spilling all it’s contents out.
“Well…We can still have fun with this…!”
“How?”
“Liiiike…”
Asriel reached into the Checkers box and took out a red piece. He placed it down near the middle of the board on his side.
“My guy is the king of the checkerboard! And no one dare try and cross him!”
Kris stared at Asriel, and started to laugh.
“Really? I’m supposed to be scared of that thing? It’s so tiny!”
Asriel smirked.
“You should know not to underestimate something because it’s tiny.”
“I guess that's…Hey, are you making fun of me?”
“Whaat? Moi? Never!”
Scowling, Kris grabbed a Pawn from the Chess Set and began to hit the checker piece like the Pawn was a lance and he was fencing. Asriel only watched him with a strange look on his face. All of a sudden, he pretended to gasp.
“Ohh no! The King has been angered and now he’s gonna get yoou! He’s growing bigger!”
“No he’s not.”
“Just pretend, alright?”
Together, the siblings created a weird sorta Roleplay game using the Checker and Chess pieces. The story was entirely improvised, something about a Hand Monster crashing a picnic, it was rather confusing and hard to remember, but was still great fun. When they finished, they wound down with a game of cards.
Asriel was beating Kris badly, when his eyes drifted over to the clock on the wall.
“Crap! It’s already 3 PM!”
“Really…?”
“Yeah, I was gonna treat you to something for lunch.”
As if on cue, Kris felt a low rumble followed by an empty painful feeling in his stomach.
“We don’t have to be home until 8…”
“Yeah, true. I think we still have enough time…Alright, come on, let’s go…!”
Kris dropped his cards and stood up. His back cracked from sitting in the same position for 2 hours. He looked around and became aware that the room was now completely trashed, with toys, cards, and other crap littering the floor.
“Shouldn’t we clean up…?”
“Nah, no one ever comes in here. It’d be a waste of time.”
“Fair enough…”
“...Hey, everything okay…?”
Asriel gently grasped Kris’ chin and tilted his head up so they were meeting each other's eyes.
“Huh…? O-Of course…! Why wouldn’t it be?”
“You’ve been spacing out a bit…”
“I’ve just been thinking…Rather not talk about it…”
“Mm…Alright. Come on, I’m starving.”
===
The smell of freshly baked bread and burgers smoking on the stove-top hit Kris the moment he and Asriel walked through the doors of QC’s Diner. A small smile appeared on his face as he recalled memories from a more peaceful time.
“Well knock on my drawers! If it isn’t the Dreemer Kids! Haven’t seen you two around these parts in forever!” A Lioness(?) Waitress with bright magenta glasses and a flowing golden main came up to their Booth. It was the same booth they got every time they came here.
“I-I guess it has been a long time…!” Asriel stammered, looking at the waitress up and down.
“So what can I get for you? The usual I assume?”
“I dunno, Kris. Are you feeling adventurous today?”
SHING
Asriel jumped as Kris stabbed his fork a good inch or two deep into the table.
“I want my Hot Chocolate.”
“O-O-Okay…That answers that…I’ll have a burger with fries.”
“Excellent.” Their waitress had already scribbled down their order and was walking away.
Asriel stared at the fork in the table with pure fascination. He poked it and it refused to yield. He tried to pull it out, but it gave good resistance.
“Damn, Kris. You really...Got this thing in there good…! I feel like I’m trying to pull out Excalibur!”
Asriel gave the fork one more good tug and it finally came free. Kris giggled as he took it back.
“Weakling.” He said playfully.
“Oh, you’re one to talk! Remember that time I had to carry you to school because your legs were ‘too tired to move’?”
“Yes. I do…”
They continued talking in casual conversation while waiting for their food. At one point, Asriel stood up from the booth.
“I gotta use the bathroom, be right back.” He explained then left.
Kris watched him go, then plunked his head sadly on the table. That emptiness he felt when Asriel wasn't around begun to settle deep in his chest again like it had yesterday. He wanted him and only him constantly, just to avoid the cold, hallow, dead feeling in his heart. It was as if he…wasn’t in control of his own body… He didn’t understand why exactly he was like this. But he began to wonder if it had something to do with the voice.
Kris noticed the butter-knife laying on a napkin next to his hand. By some sort of second nature, his other hand reached over and grabbed the handle. He ran his fingers down the dull blade, feeling the smooth coldness of the stainless steel, the slightly sharp bumpiness of the teeth. It was small, could never hurt anyone unless they really tried. Keeping his head on the table, Kris found himself slowly raising the knife into the air, the blade pointing down at his limp wrist…
He jumped and dropped the knife abruptly as the door swung open, the bell that normally rang gently whenever someone entered flew off and skidded across the tile floor. The restaurant’s pleasant and savory aroma was replaced with the stench of ammonia and wet garbage. Kris groaned, he knew exactly who had just entered the picture.
Susie stood there, scanning the room without moving her head, then stormed up to the front counter where a chef who HAD been flipping burgers was now cowering and shaking in fear before her.
Kris now intensely wished that he could crumble to dust and disappear. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with Susie’s bullshit on a day like today.
“H…H-How can I help you today…?” The chef asked in a high pitched scared voice.
“The burgers, shit-for-brains. Hand ‘em over if you wanna keep your patty flipping arm.”
“B-But they’re not done cooking yet-”
Susie slammed her fist down on the counter, the marble cracked and dented under the force.
“Did I fucking stutter?!”
The chef whimpered and cried in fear when she slammed her fist down. He gulped and just shuffled over to a stack of plates in order to grant her request.
“Hurry up! I don’t got all day!”
“Y-Yes ma-mm-madame…”
That cold emptiness had started to melt away, replaced by the burning fires of rage. God, Kris hated Susie. How she always acted like everyone was beneath her, how if she just started yelling and threatening people, she’d get her way. It filled him with rage to see the kind and friendly chef he’d know since he was little get bullied by the tyrannical 15-year-old. He couldn’t just sit there and do nothing like he did yesterday.
“That’s enough.”
Kris stood up from his booth. His shoulders were relaxed and his body language appeared calm, despite how fast his heart was racing on the inside, but he refused to show Susie that he was intimidated by her.
She whipped around to face him. Her yellow eyes piercing him like poisoned daggers. His hands began to twitch a little, but he still refused to submit.
“What did you just say to me??”
“I said: That’s enough. Leave the poor guy alone. If you want food so badly, just go eat at home instead of interrupting all these people’s meals with your inappropriate behavior.”
Susie gave a short gasp and actually took a step back in shock. But her shock was quickly replaced by fury. Her eyes narrowed, smoke practically was coming out of her nostrils. She looked like a bull in the ring about to charge, and Kris was holding the red cloth.
“You dare…Who the hell do you think you are?? Did you forget your place, FREAK?!”
She gave him a hard shove, knocking him to the ground. The people in the restaurant gasped, but no one said or did anything. Kris didn’t say or do anything either. He just sighed and got back up.
“I said! Who the hell do you think you are???”
“...”
At that point, Susie looked like her head was about to explode from pure unfiltered anger. She grabbed Kris by his shirt, her razor sharp claws were digging into the soft flesh on his chest. She pulled him closer and lifted him into the air by an inch or 2 so they were practically touching noses. Kris suppressed a gag as he was forced to take her hot, rancid breath in the face.
“Freaks like you really piss me off. What do you say I remind you how this is all supposed to work…?” She hissed.
“Let him go.”
Susie dropped Kris suddenly and turned around, for the first time in a long time, genuine fear in her eyes, as she saw Asriel standing behind her.
Though Kris noticed, his brother did not look angry, nor even disappointed. If anything, he looked kinda sad staring down at Susie. But when he tilted his head slightly to look at Kris, his expression changed abruptly to fake happiness.
“Hey, Kris I just remembered! Mom packed us sack lunches! We didn’t even need to come here…! What do you say we blow this Popsicle stand?”
“But, didn’t we already order?”
“You did…”
Now Asriel turned around, the Lioness(?) Waitress was standing behind him holding a tray of their food. 2 Burgers, a big ass plate of fries, and a mug of Hot Cocoa. Asriel took the tray from her and shoved it into Susie’s arms.
“Here. You can have our food, free of charge, y’know, since we don’t need it anymore.”
Susie’s jaw dropped. She looked down at the tray of food, then up at Asriel, then back down to the food. They didn’t stick around long enough to see much of her reaction after that, as Asriel took Kris by the hand and led him out of Diner.
===
“Ahh, there we go.”
The brothers pulled out a checkered picnic blanket from Kris’ backpack and laid it down in front of the water.
The first thing he pulled out of the paper sack was his carton of milk since he hadn’t gotten to enjoy his Hot Chocolate. Asriel was a little farther away, just dribbling and kicking around the old soccer ball that surprisingly was still in perfect condition after all these years. This time he wasn’t facing the water so as to avoid losing it again.
Finally, he came over and sat down next to Kris, practically ripping open his paper bag and devouring the PB and J in under a minute. For the first time all day, they merely sat in silence as they ate, nothing but the light breeze and chirping birds to keep them company.
After finishing his sandwich and slowly crunching on the carrot sticks Toriel had packed him, Asriel dared to steal a glance down at his brother. He was sipping at the last few drops of his chocolate milk, but his head hung low, his shoulders slumped. He looked like a rag-doll sitting without support, hunched over and limp.
“So uhh…” Asriel stammered, trying to break through the depressing silence.
“Sorry I couldn’t be there to be much help with ol’ Susie…”
“Sa’ll right…” Kris mumbled.
“...Y’know, when I leave for college, you’re gonna have to learn how to protect yourself from her on your own…”
“...”
Asriel put the carrots aside and looked at what remained of his bag.
“Hey, do you want my chocolate milk? I feel like just skipping to the pie.”
“Thanks…”
Kris stabbed his straw into the carton and started sipping it down. Once again, they sat in silence for about 30 uncomfortable seconds.
“...Azzy…?”
“Yeah?”
“why do you have to leave…?”
He knew it was coming. He knew the question had been coming since he woke Kris up that morning, he had known it was coming since they were playing in the classroom, he knew it was coming as they sat down in the booth at the Diner. Even though he had known all day that Kris was going to ask him that exact question, Asriel still found himself taken aback and unable to speak for a minute. Fortunately for him, Kris wasn’t done talking.
“Why are you leaving me…? Why can’t you stay…?”
“Kris…That’s…not an easy answer…”
“Don’t you like Hometown? You have friends here…! And family, but if you leave…Is it worth it…?”
“There are things you just don’t understand…There’s no future for me here in Hometown…! I need to get out and see the world! Find out where I really belong!…Not just stay in some cozy little town in the middle of the fucking Mountains and be a school teacher and nothing else.”
“You belong with me…”
“Well…I’m sorry, Kris, but my life won’t always be able to revolve around you, as much as I wish it could. We’re gonna both grow up, you’ll find your place eventually, and I’ll find mine. That’s how life works…You’re born, you have it easy for 18 years, then you get old, and you…”
“I can’t do it…I can’t do it without you…” Kris’ eyes began to sting as he continually struggled to hold back the tears he’d sworn long ago he would never cry.
“Don’t you understand…?…I’m a nobody…I’m not good at anything, no one likes me except you, I’m…a freak…”
“Oh…Buddy…”
Asriel wrapped his arms around Kris and pulled him in a gentle hug.
“You’re not a freak, you never were. You’re my brother, I don’t care what you’re good at or who likes you. Even if we’re miles apart, I will never stop caring about you. Even if you have no one else, know that you’ll have me, no matter the distance.”
“Always…?”
Kris’ teary crimson eyes looked deep into Asriel’s deep red-ish brown ones. His older brother smiled and nodded.
“Always.”

The next morning…
Rather then any abrupt awakenings, no nightmares, no strange voices in the dark, Kris woke up gently, his eyes slowly peeling open and taking in the light from the drawn curtain. The world was at peace for once, on this, a lovely Friday morning.
Wait, it was Friday morning!
Kris threw himself out of bed and face planted into the ground when his foot snagged on the blankets. When he freed himself, he grabbed his alarm clock and checked it.
“Oh please oh please if there is a God above, don’t make me have missed it!”
10 AM. Surely Asriel couldn’t be gone by now, could he? Unless he…packed up early. Kris had to find out. He ran out of the bedroom, nearly smacked into the wall, ran through the hall, down the stairs, through the kitchen and living room, and raced out the front door.
Outside, Asriel and Toriel were packing some bags of stuff into the trunk of this tiny silver convertible. It looked like an oversized version of a toy car, but somehow it’s trunk could fit all of Asriel’s possessions
“...Well, look who finally woke up!” Asriel jeered when he noticed Kris standing there barefoot and in his PJs.
“You’re just in time…!” Toriel added.
“Yeah, these are the last of bags. I was getting ready to leave and wondering if I’d get the chance to see you…”
“Isn’t it wonderful that Boomer gave you his convertible for completely free?” Toriel smiled
“And it’s in great shape too…! I ever wonder why he would get rid of such a thing…”
“Eh, doesn’t matter. It’s something sell-able if things get really rough at College.”
“Asriel Dreemer!”
“Kidding! Kidding!… Almost.”
“Dohhh youu…” His mother playfully punched his shoulder.
Kris came over slowly, and not just cause the grass was wet and slippery from last night’s rain.
Once he was close enough, Asriel couldn’t help it anymore. He scooped Kris into his arms and gave him a tight bear hug. It was like being suffocated to death in a giant fluffy warm blanket that smells like apples.
“Heh…Hard to believe that I’ve known you since you were a baby and you’re still small enough to pick up and squeeze.”
Kris laughed, and then kept laughing. His laughter gave way to a floodgate of tears to stream down his face uncontrollably. It was almost frightening slightly. Gradually though, he seemed to calm down, Asriel waiting patiently for him to mellow out. When he did, he was set back on the ground. He began to wipe his eyes with his pajama shirt.
“Kris, just remember, you’re gonna be okay. You have to stay determined, for me. Alright?”
“Alright…I promise, I’ll…Try…”
“Good. And, it’s not like you’ll never see me again! Tell you what, I’ll visit next Fall for Thanksgiving! Sound good?”
“Y-Yeah!”
“Perfect…! And until then, we’ll always be in each other’s thoughts.”
Kris nodded. Asriel smiled and nodded back. With all that, he climbed into the Driver’s side. Toriel leaned over and gave him a sloppy kiss on the cheek.
“My baby…Make sure to write! At least a letter per week!”
“I know mom.”
“Don’t drink with anyone you don’t know.”
“I know, Mom.”
“And when a girl tells you no, that means NO!”
“MOM! I get it!”
“Ohh, I know you do. Good luck, Asriel.”
The door was closed. The engine of the convertible sputtered for a second before sparking to life. Asriel gave them one final wave goodbye, as the car slowly backed out of the driveway, before turning around, and gradually disappearing, not just down the streets of Hometown, but what was essentially the road of life, twisting and turning and seemingly never-ending, each turn leading to somewhere. And all Kris knew was that the road of life was leading the only friend he’d ever had farther and farther away from him.
