#i can just imagine some pointing out the blue ring in his eyes

one thing that irked me when I read aftg for the first time was Neil’s contacts.
The boy has blue eyes, bright ass baby blues. HOW HAD NOBODY ELSE NOTICED BEFORE ANDREW?
I myself have light blue eyes, and I also cosplay, so I have worn my fair share of coloured contacts. Coloured contacts DO NOT look natural with blue eyes, especially light blue eyes or bright blue.
When someone has darker eyes, like brown eyes, the gradient of the coloured contact makes it so your natural pupil fits the contact size, whether the hole is bigger than the space your pupil fills naturally or not. The dark colour of the eye with the gradient of the contact makes the transition from fake to real colour less noticeable.
With light eyes however, that darker gradient isn’t there to make the pupil look as though it fits into the contacts mold. So when someone is wearing the contact, you’ll typically see a ring of blue around their pupils.
And sure, maybe Neil got some like really good professional contacts, or maybe his pupils are just constantly dilated to a big enough size that the colour gap isn’t a problem. I have read about some cosplayers with blue eyes who purposefully dilate their eyes to make contacts work better for shoots or cons, so maybe he did something like that??
BUT STILL

"Hang on--wait a second--Minho!" You call out as the bag you are looking at is suddenly yanked from your hands.
Minho ignores you, as he continues to make his way to the checkout counter. He walks quickly, not quite running or speed walking. You know his pace, this is the fastest you've ever seen him move when he isn't dancing. And yet, he moves swiftly like he's on the stage.
He's already halfway to the checkout counter when you manage to catch up to him. Somehow, one of his steps is two of yours and you're having trouble catching up to him. His eyes keep facing forward, focusing on his end goal. Maybe you're imagining it, but you think he is moving even faster.
The two of you finally reach the front of the store. One other person
"W...what are you doing?" You try to catch your breath from the unexpected jog you just took.
"Buying your birthday presents," Minho responds nonchalantly, finally turning to you.
"I said I didn't want or need anything for my birthday though." You remind him softly.
It's true, Minho has been asking you what you want for your birthday for weeks, and each time, you've told him 'nothing.' You didn't think much of it when he invited you out to lunch. You thought he would settle with just paying for your meal and drop the subject of getting you a gift altogether. So when he suggested going to the mall afterward, it completely slipped your mind.
"Uh huh," He turns forward again, checking to see if the customer who was ahead of you is still finishing his transaction.
"You paid for lunch already. And I don't need anything--" You try to pull the small brown backpack out of his arms to no avail.
"But you want this, right?" He questions, still not looking at you.
"That's not the point--"
Minho cuts you off by walking up to the counter and setting his things down in front of the cashier. You watch in amazement as you realize that all of the things that Minho is buying are things that you were contemplating buying yourself but changed your mind last minute.
"Did you two find everything okay?" The cashier asks cheerfully.
"Actually--"
"We found everything okay," Minho cuts you off. You watch as he pulls his wallet out of his pocket.
Minho makes polite conversation with the cashier as he rings up the items. He's wearing a pair of blue jeans and a black polo shirt that you got him. You can't remember if it was for Christmas or his birthday. His face is covered up with a mask and his hair so he's unrecognizable at first. You know it can't be comfortable. You know how he feels about his hair being in his eyes and how the strings of the face mask always dig into his skin. He's wearing it more for your privacy than his. He doesn't mind running into fans but he knows how some of them can be so he's dressed as inconspicuous as possible.
"When did you grab all of those?" You question as you watch the cashier continuing to bag everything.
"I can be sneaky too." He pats the top of your head without breaking his concentration.
"You don't have to get me anything for my birthday. I already know that you love me." You mumble as he slides his wallet, getting ready to pay.
"You should let people do nice things for you every once in a while. Not everything has a double meaning. I'm buying them for you because you want them and I love you and it's your birthday. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. You deserve nice things so let me give them to you." He hums softly.
You clench your fists, knowing he's right. But you really don't need anything for your birthday. Spending time with him is enough. All the little things he does for you are enough.
Your eyes glance over to the cash register and zero in on the balance.
$358.60
"Hey, Lee Minho!" You quickly grab his wrist to stop him from paying.
Minho turns to you and blinks a few times. You stare at him with pleading eyes, trying to convince him to stop.
"Eh erm," He grunts before taping his card to the card reader, your grip having no obvious effect on him.
Ding
You sigh as you release his arm, defeated. Minho thanks the cashier and takes the back from him. He throws his left arm around your shoulder and leads you out of the store. You can practically imagine the smirk on his face underneath his mask.
"You're going to use the things I got you right? And they'll make you happy?" He asks quietly.
"Yeah," You mumble.
"Then I don't mind spending that much on you. I would spend more but I know that it would make you uncomfortable. But I also want to spoil you because you deserve it." He says loudly as you exit the store. It's not crowded out, there's less of a worry.
"I already feel spoiled dating you so I really don't need much else from you,"
You're not sure how you got lucky to have a boyfriend like Minho. Who, while being a bit more on the quiet side, is the most attentive and caring person you've been around. He always seems to pick up on your moods before it even registers in your brain. And he tends to do little acts of service for you like cook you food for work or pick up a copy of a book that you mentioned being curious about once. He's already given you so much, there genuinely wasn't anything else you could think of to ask from him.
He stops walking, forcing you to slightly jerk back. He holds up the shopping bag in front of you, "Just take this. You can think of me whenever you use the backpack then. Put a little Leebit on it and my photocard or something. That way I'm always with you. You can even use that picture of me with the prop gun so it wards off other guys. And when you tell them that it's a picture of your boyfriend, they'll just think you're a delusional fan and back off. Now say thank you and give me a kiss."
"You're ridiculous," You laugh, taking the back from him.
"What was that?" He teases, pulling down his mask to reveal his infamous mischievous smirk. He stares you down and taps on his lips to give you a hint.
"Thank you, Minho. I love you," You give in, the heat in your body rushing to your cheeks.
"You're forgetting something,"
"Ah, you're a brat," You gently press your lips to his. Only momentarily in case someone spots you.
"No, that's you. Now let's go home and rest, I ran today and I'm tired."
"Yes, yes, I saw. Surprised your old body can move that fast still."
"You want to talk about old? You're the one who aged today."
"Don't start with me."
"Hehe," He giggles, pulling his mask up and dropping his arm to lace your fingers together. "Happy birthday, jagia."

The Perfect Gift - O. Gaunt
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ominis Gaunt x F!MC
Word Count: 4,129
Rating: T
Summary: Ominis overhears the girls talking about some singer, and decides to write MC a song for Christmas. Sebastian can't help but be his wingman.
A/N: @darch7995 sent me a song and I had to write something fluffy and happy for Ominis! Listen to the audio HERE. Merry Christmas!
Tumblr media
Ominis Gaunt was rarely stopped in his tracks, but once he’d heard the low warbling coming from the gramophone, he halted, holding his hands to his ears. He hated the insinuation that his blindness enhanced his other senses, but he did have impeccable hearing, and the song emitting from the sun room next to the Charms classroom had his ears ringing.
“Isn’t he just so dreamy?” Poppy sighed.
“Clarence Warbeck is my favorite singer of all time.” Leonora Everleigh declared. “I would listen to him all day if I could.”
Ominis rolled his milky blue eyes, ready to walk into the warm, sunlit room to say something snarky, until he heard her voice.
“I think he’s quite the romantic,” she said. His dear friend had a lilt in her voice towards the end of her sentence, as if she hadn’t finished her thought.
“You mean easy on the eyes?” Leonora teased.
She let out a laugh that had Ominis shivering, stumbling behind the column to avoid them seeing him.
“I just think music is quite lovely.” she mused. “And a song?  I think that’s the sweetest gift a person could ever give.”
Ominis bit his bottom lip as he blushed.  That was valuable information, he thought, especially with the holidays approaching.  The wheels started spinning in his mind as he imagined a song, especially one about her–
“Oh, hi Ominis!”
He blinked, turning towards the voice.  His friend had seen him, and now he had nowhere to hide.
“Hello, ladies.” Ominis said smoothly.
“Come to take a nap in the light?” Poppy said kindly.  He blushed again; clearly his napping habits were quite public knowledge at this point.
“Come over,” his friend beckoned him closer. “We can sit on the cushions, if you’d like.”
“If you insist,” he stuttered.
Ominis awkwardly scampered over to the sound of her voice, settling down on the various plush cushions that were set on the floor.  He felt her sit down next to him, tucking her feet under herself as he splayed out on the floor.  One of the many cats that lived in the DADA tower slid against the two of them, purring.
“Comfortable?” she asked softly, the sound of the music dulled by her voice.
“Very,” Ominis hummed.  He settled onto the cushions, his head falling into her lap.  She continued her conversation with the girls as he drifted into a light sleep, the crooning of Clarence Warbeck filling the background noise.
Tumblr media
Ominis and Sebastian sat at the Slytherin table in the great hall; with the holidays quickly approaching, most students were busy packing their trunks for the journey home. The Hogwarts Express was departing Hogsmeade station for the holidays the next morning, but per usual, Ominis and Sebastian were spending the holiday at the castle. As Professor Ronen decorated the Christmas tree, the boys sat at the table, loitering before dinner.
“And honestly, I took that quite personally.  So I don’t think I should have gotten a detention for setting Leander on fire, he was the one who was in my way…Ominis, are you paying any attention to me?” Sebastian asked, eyebrows quirked.
Ominis rolled his unseeing eyes, waving off his best friend. “Yes, yes, something about nearly giving Leander Prewett third degree burns because he looked at you funny in potions again.” he said lazily, waving his wand again.  His eyebrows were furrowed as he waved his wand again.  His dictation quill scratched out a few words on the parchment in front of him.
“What are you doing?” Sebastian asked, narrowing his eyes at the many pages in front of his friend.
“Nothing,” Ominis said hastily, snatching his pages together before Sebastian could get his grubby hands on them.
“Why so secretive?” Sebastian asked, clearly intrigued by the change in Ominis’s attitude.
“It’s none of your business,” Ominis sniffed. “Back off.”
From the blond’s biting tone, Sebastian knew it was in his best interests not to press.  However, his best interests were rarely ever actually on his mind.  Lurching forward, Sebastian snatched a piece of parchment from Ominis’s hands, taking glee in how the blond panicked.
“Each year I ask for many different things–”
“Sebastian stop,” Ominis panted. “It’s not funny.”
“But now I know what my heart–”
“Sebastian!” Ominis screeched, nearly ripping the parchment from his best friend’s hands. “Stop it, I’m begging you.”
“What in Merlin’s name are you writing?” Sebastian laughed, watching as his normally impenetrable friend reddened, pushing the wrinkled parchment into his bookbag. “Is that a poem?”
Ominis’s face was bright red. “It’s a song, if you want to know so bad.” he scowled.
Sebastian’s face softened. “I didn’t know you were back at the old piano again.”
It wasn’t common knowledge that Ominis was an accomplished pianist.  Mrs. Gaunt had insisted every child in the Gaunt family mastered an instrument, and he’d spent most of his childhood dreading piano lessons. Despite his initial disdain, Ominis had taken quite well to the instrument, and it became a hobby. Once he was at Hogwarts, he’d slip into the music room every now and then, practicing his rusty skills whenever he was under duress.
“It’s for a gift,” Ominis mumbled.
“Pardon?” Sebastian asked, now grinning.  He had an idea of Ominis’s motivation, but wanted to hear the words from the boy himself.
“It is a Christmas gift,” Ominis hissed. “For her.  Are you happy, Sebastian?”
“Blissful.” Sebastian leaned into the table, tucking his chin in hand. “This is rich–you’re writing a song for a girl.” he crooned. “How sweet, Omi.  What gave you the idea?”
Ominis gave him a rude hand gesture, sparking laughter from the brunette. “I overheard her talking with Poppy and Leonora about that singer–Clarence Warbeck–and how they loved his songs.”
“Right, the prat who sings all those cheesy love songs the girls are obsessed with.” Sebastian noted. “Isn’t he doing a show in London over the holiday break?”
Ominis gave him a dry look. “Precisely.  His lyrics are…uninspired, to say the least.  And I was already thinking of what to give her for the holidays–you know she’s impossible to shop for.  The girl has every piece of clothing known to mankind, every potion, book, broom at her disposal.  I thought to myself, she deserves a song. You know, something actually personalized to her.” he said sheepishly.
“Well, I think it’s very kindhearted of you.” Sebastian said smugly. “Are you admitting it then?”
“Admitting what?” Ominis feigned indifference.
“Your crush on her.”
“Could you be any louder, Sebastian?” Ominis hissed. His hands flew to his temples as his best friend chortled next to him. “I just–”
“Just writing her a lovely, romantic song for the holidays.” Sebastian snorted. “Oh come on, I’m just teasing you.  I think it’s great; you never play the piano, so it must mean something special.”
Ominis felt his face flush; despite his disdain for Sebastian in the moment, his best friend was right.  Ominis had minimal experience with the fairer sex.  The concept of romance was lost on the Gaunts, choosing to pair their children in arranged matches to bring honor to the bloodline.  He’d never even imagined the idea of dating someone until she’d arrived at Hogwarts. Their friendship had gotten off to a rocky start, thanks to the freckled heathen sitting next to him, but the events of their fifth year had only drawn them closer to one another.  What had started as an admiration for her bravery turned into a funny twist in his stomach whenever he heard her laughing.  As of late, it had gotten so unbearable, Ominis had turned into a blushing mess whenever she sat next to him in class.
“Speak of the devil–she’s coming in.” Sebastian murmured. “Hide your sheets, then.”
Ominis heard her footsteps draw closer and closer as he hurriedly shoved his parchment back into his school bag.
“Hello you two,” she said sweetly, standing next to them.  Ominis could smell her perfume wafting towards him, still smelling like the sweet scent of strawberries in the dead of winter. “What are you up to?”
“Nothing,” both boys said in unison.
Despite his blindness, Ominis could almost sense the arch of her brow. “Alright, weirdos.”  she chuckled. “I have good and bad news.”
“Do tell,” Sebastian said.
“Good news, Leonora’s mother surprised us with tickets to Clarence Warbeck’s show in London!” she said gleefully.  “I was going to stay in the castle for the holidays, but Leonora’s parents decided to surprise her early so she could bring friends, and she invited me to join!”
“O-oh.” Ominis said, feeling his heart crack in half. “So you’ll be gone, then?”
“Yes, well that’s the bad news, you see. I know it’s such late notice, but I hope the two of you won’t be cross with me,” she said wistfully. “It’s just such a good opportunity, and I’ve never been to a real show before–”
“Of course we’re not mad,” Ominis interjected. “If it makes you happy, we’ll be happy for you.”
“Oh, I’m so glad you understand,” she sighed in relief. “I am going to miss you over the holidays, I hope you know that.”
Ominis pursed his lips. “Don’t worry, we’ll be fine.”
“Speak for yourself,” Sebastian chuckled. “I’m positively bereft you’re leaving us.”
Despite his inner turmoil, Ominis knew she was excited for the opportunity to visit London.  It was silly of him to write the song, he thought; he was no great wordsmith, nor half the performer that Clarence Warbeck was.  He felt a pit of jealousy in his stomach as he pictured her singing and cheering for him in a crowd, waiting for his autograph at the side door to the theater–
He was broken out of his thoughts at the feeling of her kissing his cheek.
“Don’t miss me too much, Ominis.” she said kindly.
“I’ll be counting down the days until you’re back,” he said softly. Realizing just how lovesick he sounded, he quickly covered with a cough. “Can’t forgive you for leaving me with this one,” he elbowed Sebastian, who yelped in return.
She gave a sparkling laugh, which brought warmth to his cheeks once more. “I’ll try to see you before I leave tomorrow.” she promised, her voice getting further and further away as he heard her walk towards the door.
The boys were silent until they heard the door properly shut.
“Lots of talk, use of the word we,” Sebastian noted. “When you’re the one supposedly preparing a love song for her.”
“Shove off,” Ominis mumbled. “I knew it was a stupid idea.”
“Don’t say that,” Sebastian assured him. “You can give it to her when she’s back.”
Ominis knew he was right, but he was rather hoping to give her his song over the holidays.  He’d already spent so much time planning his confession, and her leaving for the holiday was a major setback.  Ominis wasn’t sure he could muster up the confidence to play his music for her again, let alone with a castle full of other students who might walk in on them.
“Whatever,” Ominis sighed.
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since the train had departed for London, taking her to London and far, far away from Hogwarts for the holidays.  Ominis had since retreated to the music room nearly every night, wishing to be alone. It was late, and Ominis was seated at the piano again.  His long, lithe fingers softly danced across the keys, playing the tune he’d written for her song.  Under his breath, he mumbled the lyrics; deep down, he didn’t really want to be alone, but she had been the only company he’d desired. He imagined her, standing at the Clarence Warbeck show, swaying to the lame lyrics with her girlfriends, and it made his piano strokes a bit heavier and angrier than he’d wanted them to be.
He was so lost in thought, he hardly noticed the sound of skittering feet approaching the music room.  It wasn’t until the door burst open that he stumbled over the keys, lifting his wand to identify the intruder.
“Sebastian?  What in Merlin’s name are you doing?” Ominis barked.
“She’s–Ominis, they–show got canceled–she’s here,” Sebastian rambled, panting for air.
“What are you even talking about?”
Sebastian took a big gulp of air. “The Clarence Warbeck show got canceled,” he breathed. “She caught the train back to Hogsmeade instead.”
Ominis blinked at his best friend. “She’s here?” he said, voice strained.
“Do you have your song written?” Sebastian demanded.
“Er, yes–I was just finishing the melody.” Ominis admitted.
“That settles it–you have a song to deliver then, Ominis.” Sebastian said proudly. “I can grab her, if you like–”
“Are you insane?” Ominis gaped. “It’s not–I’m not ready!” he panicked.
Sebastian raised an eyebrow. “There’s a piano, you have your lyrics, what aren’t you ready for?” he asked.
Ominis began wringing his hands. “But it has to be romantic,” he wheezed. “And this isn’t romantic at all.  For Merlin’s sake, I’m wearing pajamas!”
Sebastian was quiet for a few moments; Ominis could tell the cogs were moving in his best friend’s head. The brunette snapped his fingers. “I’ve got it!” he said gleefully. “The perfect idea.”  He could hear Sebastian’s boots scuffling around him, muttering under his breath.
“What are you doing?” Ominis asked curiously.
“Candles.” Sebastian said simply, muttering a conjuration charm. “You’ll need a lot of candles, girls love them.”
“I’m not even going to ask how you know that,” Ominis scowled, standing up and raising his wand.  He could sense Sebastian conjuring dozens candles, setting them around the piano.
“And you–you should change into something a little nicer.” Sebastian tutted. “Not that your pajamas aren’t cute and all, but you’ll want to look your best.”
“I know that,” Ominis rolled his eyes.  However, he couldn’t contain the flutter of excitement in his stomach. “Are you suggesting I change now?”
“Run down to the dungeons, I’ll take care of the room.” Sebastian assured him. “Ambiance, by Sebastian Sallow.” he joked.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” Ominis said earnestly.
“Get fewer girls, that’s for sure.” The brunette snorted.
“Don’t start.” Ominis warned him, backing up towards the door.
“Is that any way to treat your personal elf?” He didn’t need sight to know there was a smug grin stretched across Sebastian’s face. “Go on, get prettied up.  I’ll be here, getting everything prepared.”
Tumblr media
“I know you can’t see yourself, but you look quite dashing.” Sebastian hummed.  He adjusted Ominis’s tie, the blonde slapping his hands away in return.  “Don’t be nervous.”
“I’m not nervous,” Ominis lied.  “What’s to be nervous about?”
“I dunno–the fact that it’s nearly midnight and you’re about to host your first solo concert to the girl you’re in love with.” Sebastian hummed. “I know I had some mistletoe around here somewhere…”
“Hello?” A feminine voice called out. “Is anyone there?”
Ominis slapped Sebastian’s arm. “She’s here!” He hissed. “Get out!”
Sebastian yelped in response; Ominis straightened his waistcoat as he heard his best friend stumble across the music room, his boots clacking against the stairs.
“Ominis, are you in there?” Her voice sounded nearer, about to turn the corner into the room.
He gulped, twirling his wand rather anxiously at his side. “I am,” he choked out.  “Do come in.”
He could hear her delicate footsteps as she walked into the music room; first quickly, and then stopping in her tracks.  It felt like eons before her feet picked up again, taking slow deliberate steps towards him in the corner, next to the piano.
“Sebastian sent me an owl, saying it was rather time-sensitive.” she said hesitantly. “That it was an emergency.”
“That twat,” Ominis grumbled. “It’s not an emergency, per say, but I did want you to meet me here.”
“So no one is dying, gravely wounded, or in need of protection?”
“Did he say that was the issue?” Ominis choked.
She snorted. “Rather implied it was a life or death matter.”
Ominis scolded Sebastian in his head, rolling his eyes.  He’d have to set him straight later on.
“I wanted to ask you to come meet me here,” Ominis chewed on his lower lip. “Because I knew you were quite disappointed when the Clarence Warbeck show was canceled.”
“Oh, right.” she said quickly. “Yeah, Leonora was a bit upset over it, and I didn’t really have any other reason to be in London, so I caught the train home.”
“Well, with that being the case, I thought this was a good time to give you your Christmas present.” Ominis swallowed thickly.
“Omi, I thought we weren’t doing presents,” she said, her voice slightly panicked. “I haven’t gotten you anything–”
“This,” Ominis interjected, pointing his wand towards the piano. “This is the present.”
She paused, clearly confused. “The piano?  The one that’s always here in the music room? I mean, thanks Ominis, but I doubt we can steal the school piano–”
“No,” Ominis groaned. He tugged her hand towards the bench, gesturing for her to sit next to him. “This is the present. Me–er, rather, a song for you.”
There was a pregnant pause as she slowly slid into the bench next to him.  Her shoulder bumped into his, and he could feel the ends of her braid tickling his skin.  They’d never sat so closely before–not under the pretense of anything other than a friendly afternoon nap in the corridor.
“You wrote a song for me?” she asked, her voice suddenly small and subdued. “Ominis, I didn’t even know that you could play the piano.”
Ominis set his wand down on the piano’s ledge with shaky hands. “I did–I do play the piano.  I learned when I was younger,” he admitted, his fingers finding the ivory keys. “I’m actually quite good, if I do say so myself.  Sebastian tells me I am too.”
“You’ve played for Sebastian, but not me?” she scoffed, a playful tone returning to her voice.
Ominis began playing the tune he’d written, the one he’d memorized in a matter of days just for her. “I only share this with people I love,” he said softly.  Realizing what he’d just said, he coughed quickly to cover his blunder. “Like my friends.  Anne, Sebastian, and now you.”
She rested her chin on Ominis’s shoulder. “Well, go on then.  Let me hear it.”
“And you won’t make fun of me if I’m a lousy singer?” Ominis asked, feeling the back of his neck heating up.
“I would never,” she reassured him.
Ominis began singing; he could hear her breath catch as his voice echoed in the room.  The words tumbled out of his mouth as his fingers danced across the keys.  Despite not having his wand in hand, he started to feel more confident as his tune went on, his voice only cracking slightly when he felt her soft hand on his leg.
So just please fall in love with me, this Christmas
There’s nothing else that I would need, this Christmas
Won’t be wrapped under a tree, I wish that this would last forever,
So kiss me on this cold December night;
They call it the season of giving; I’m here, yours for the taking
I’m here, I’m yours
The notes trailed off, Ominis’s fingers lifting from the keys.  He wasn’t sure what to do with his hands; in his nervousness, he clenched his fists in his lap.
“I tried to copy Warbeck’s style,” he gulped. “Since you like him so much.  I overheard you talking with the girls last week, that you thought a song was the sweetest gift a person could give.”
“You listened to me,” she murmured.
Ominis squeezed his eyes shut as he tried to articulate his feelings. “I…I’m always listening to you.  I want to make you happy.” he wrung his hands together.
“Ominis, this is…the song…” she trailed off.
“Do you hate it?” he asked nervously.
She threw her arms around him; he yelped as she squeezed him tight.
“How could one hate a song so beautiful? This is my favorite Christmas gift I’ve ever received, the most perfect gift.” she gasped. “No one has ever written me a song before.”
Ominis sighed in relief, blushing as he found the courage to wrap his arms around her waist, hugging her in return. “I’m glad you liked it.” he murmured into her shoulder.
She pulled away, pressing her small, warm hands against his cheeks. “Liked it?  Ominis, I loved it!” she exclaimed.  “I never knew you had such talent.  You need to play more often for me.”
Ominis smiled as he pressed her forehead against hers. “Well, now that you know, I’d be happy to play for you whenever you’d like.”
Her warm hands left his cheeks, falling to hold his hands.  There was a brief pause; he could tell she was chewing on her lower lip.
“The lyrics,” she murmured. “You…you mean them, right?  They’re not just lyrics?”
Ominis took in a sharp breath as her fingers entwined with his. “Well, Mr. Warbeck is quite forward with his feelings in all of his songs, so I thought I should do the same.” he whispered. “I wanted it to be romantic, and all I could think of wanting this Christmas was you.” he confessed.
“I thought so,” she mused. “So you would like me to kiss you?”
Ominis blinked rapidly, his cheeks burning hot. “Only if–” he started to say, quickly cut off by her lips pressing against his.
She smiled against his lips, and Ominis melted into her touch.  His hands cradled her face while she held onto his forearms, keeping him close.  He whined softly as she pulled away, pressing a quick kiss to the tip of his nose.
“Only what?” she asked.
“If you mean it, truly.” Ominis fought the smile that tugged on the corner of his lips. “I hope you do. Or I guess in this case, did.”
She laughed; the melodic sound of her giggles rivaled even the sweetest of songs. Her chin dropped to his shoulder again, and she nuzzled closer.
“You didn’t need to write a song to capture my heart, Ominis.” she breathed. “It’s been yours for a while now.”
Ominis went slack jawed. “What?”
“Why do you think I caught the first train back to Hogwarts?” she nudged him with her nose. “I wanted to be back here, to spend Christmas with you, Ominis.”
“But the show–Clarence Warbeck–”
“He’s a good singer,” she laughed. “But he’s not you.”
Ominis surged forward, and she yelped when he pressed his lips against her face, slightly missing her lips.  No matter; she chuckled again, angling her face to meet him perfectly.  One of Ominis’s hands tugged her closer at the waist, the other trailing up to her soft, strawberry scented hair.
“I love you,” he admitted, rubbing the tip of his nose against hers.
Just as she was about to open her mouth in response, the two heard a cough from the rafters.  They jolted apart, Ominis nearly falling off the bench to maintain a proper distance from her in case it was a professor.
It wasn’t–he could hear a familiar voice huffing at them.
“Can I come down now?”
Ominis furrowed his eyebrows. “Sebastian, what the bloody hell are you still doing here?” he gasped.
“Well you didn’t give me much time to get down from the rafters,” Sebastian complained. “I was trying to hang the mistletoe for you two.”
“Get out!” Ominis groaned, while she laughed next to him on the piano bench.
Ominis could hear Sebastian’s snickering, and the familiar beat of his steps as he ran out of the music room.  He groaned, his head falling against her shoulder.
“So embarrassing.” he muttered into the fabric of her shirt. “I can’t believe he heard the song.”
“Not at all,” she cooed. “Wouldn’t quite be a moment between us without Sebastian interrupting, would it?” she pressed a soft kiss against his hair. “Play the song for me again?”
“Only if I get to kiss you more.” Ominis whispered.
“That can be arranged,” she said coyly, tilting his chin up towards her. She adoringly pressed kisses against his forehead, his cheeks, the tip of his nose, and then finally his lips again.  Pulling away, she leaned her head on his shoulder once more, sighing happily as his fingers started dancing across the keys again.
“Happy Christmas, Ominis.  I love you too.”
Those four words were music to Ominis’s ears.  He played the song for her over and over again, his voice more confident every time he repeated the lyrics. The fourth time he repeated, she stopped him, kissing him breathless.
“Saw the mistletoe,” she whispered against his lips, slithering her arms around his waist. “He managed to hang it after all.”
Grinning into her kiss once more, Ominis reminded himself to thank Sebastian.

November 27th, 1997.
6 months.
6 months since the day he quite literally bumped into you.
6 months since he had first laid eyes on the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
6 months since the moment he already knew he was head over heels in love with you.
6 months of waiting to ask the most important question of his life.
Because tomorrow, exactly 6 months from the day he had met you, Javier Peña was going to ask you to marry him.
And he was a fucking nervous wreck.
It had killed Javi to wait this long. By conventional standards, 6 months wasn’t that long to know someone before you asked them to spend the rest of their life with you, but in all honesty, Javi would have proposed to you 3 months ago after he first got his mom’s ring from his dad. He had never been so sure of anything in his entire life- he wanted to spend forever with you. And now, after what felt like years of waiting, making sure that everything had fallen in place to give you the best proposal he could possibly imagine, the day was almost here.
Javi wanted everything to be perfect. He needed it to be. You were the most perfect person he had ever met, and to him, you deserved everything, and then some. He wasn’t nervous you were going to say no, or that he was second guessing his decision, Javi was a mess because there was nothing more he wanted than to give you a day you would never forget.
It was also going to now be a day Chucho Peña never forgot either. After everything had settled into place for Javi to finally start finalizing his plans, his poor dad had now become much more involved in planning a proposal than he ever thought he’d have to be. At this point, he was truly trying his best to not find it humorous how worked up his son had been over it, knowing that there was no way in the world you were going to be anything short of amazed, let alone say no.
“And you’re sure that you’ve got the-”
“Javier. This is probably the 14th time you have gone over the plan with me. Yes. I am sure I have everything you need. I have both lists you insisted I take, everyone knows where to be and what to do to help. Take a deep breath, hijo.” Chucho chuckled, taking a sip of his beer as he and Javi sat on the back porch of the Peña ranch, watching the sky slowly fade from bright yellows and pinks to faded blues as the sun dipped below the horizon.
“Okay. Sorry. I’m uh- Fuck, Pops, I’m nervous as hell.” Javi swallowed, running his thumb along the condensation of his can, anxiously drawing little circles in the water droplets.
“Really? I can’t tell.” Chucho joked, smirking to himself as he glanced over at his son, bouncing his leg against the chair he was sitting on. “Javier, what is there to be nervous about? It’s not like she’s going to say no.” Javi looked up at his Dad, the worn smile of his wrinkled face bringing him some relief from the nervous state he was in.
“No, I know. I just- I just want it to be perfect. I want it to be perfect for her. I’ve been thinking about this for so long and now it’s finally fucking here. She deserves everything, Pops. I love her so much.” Chucho reached over, patting his hand against Javi’s shoulder, gently squeezing his fingertips against the soft fabric of his flannel shirt.
“Javier, it will be perfect because you love her, and she loves you.” Chucho paused for a moment, quietly laughing to himself as he looked over at Javi. “Have I ever told you the story of how I proposed to your mamá?” A mischievous grin grew across Chucho’s face as Javi nodded, taking another swig of his drink.
“Yeah, you did it at the lake, right?”
“Yes. But that is the short version of the story, Mijo. I was so nervous when I proposed to your mother, that as we were walking up to the lake so I could get down on one knee and ask her to marry me, I tripped over my own feet and fell right to the ground, and the ring came out of my pocket. I didn’t put it in a box, because I was worried she would see, and so she had to help me find her engagement ring in the grass because I couldn’t find it. Until the day she died, she never let me live it down. But it is still one of my favorite memories of the two of us. It was still perfect. Javier, that girl would marry you if you got down on one knee and asked her in your living room. I have no doubt in my mind that tomorrow will be a day that she will never forget.”
“Fuck, guess I better add tripping over myself to the list of things I need to worry about, thanks, Dad.” The pair laughed, shaking their heads as Chucho gave Javi one last pat on the shoulder before he placed his hands on his knees, letting out a heavy grunt as he pushed himself up out of his chair.
“Cabrón (asshole). Now go, you should be spending time with your future esposa (wife) instead of your old man the night before your engagement. I promise, I have everything taken care of.” Javi followed his dad’s suit, setting down his beer before standing up, reaching out to wrap his arms around Chucho in a tight embrace.
“Thanks, Pops. For everything. Te amo.”
“Of course, mijo. Te amo mucho. I am so happy for you, Javier. She is such a wonderful woman. I am so glad she is going to be a part of our family. I know that your mamá is smiling down on you- She would have loved her so much, Javier. I love her, too. And now, I’m finally one step closer to mis nietos (my grandchildren).” Chucho playfully nudged Javi as he rolled his eyes, giving his son one last embrace as Javi headed out to his truck. As he turned over the ignition, Javi smiled to himself as he turned up the volume of the Queen’s Greatest Hits album you had picked out from your last drive.
“Oh, you're the best friend that I ever had. Been with you such a long time, You're my sunshine, and I want you to know that my feelings are true, I really love you. Oh, you're my best friend.”
Javi couldn’t help but let a stupidly wide grin spread across his cheeks as he listened to the lyrics of the track that had begun playing over the quiet crunch of the gravel under his truck tires as he backed out of the driveway to drive home. Because tomorrow? Tomorrow, Javier Peña was going to ask his best friend in the whole world, the woman he loved more than life itself, you, to be his wife.
Tumblr media
Even though it was barely long enough for you to consider it to be a school “break”, you were glad to have today off to prep for your first Laredo Thanksgiving tomorrow. This would be the first time you would ever spend the holiday away from your childhood home, where your family had hosted every Thanksgiving for as long as you could remember. As much as you would have loved to fly back to go see everyone, plane tickets for the long weekend had been ridiculously expensive, and with just going to visit them a month ago for your cousin’s wedding, and future plans to go back to Chicago over Christmas break, your parents had been insistent on the fact that it was okay that you weren’t going to be able to make it home for Thanksgiving. While of course, you had been heartbroken you would have to miss seeing your family, from the moment Chucho found out you were Texas bound for the holiday, he was quick to make sure you felt nothing short of absolutely included in celebrating with the Peñas, even if it was just you, Javi and Chucho.
Javi still had to work on your day off, so you had spent your free time catching up on chores around the house, taking a well deserved nap and now, you were working on the apple pie you insisted to Chucho bring for the celebration tomorrow, as much as he had tried to convince you that you didn’t need to bring anything.
Somewhere along the lines of your childhood, it had become a Wednesday before Thanksgiving tradition that your family would watch The Wizard of Oz with your siblings before going to bed (although now as an adult, you had a feeling your parents put it on for you and your brothers so they could get the house ready without the four of you doing any more damage), so it only felt right that you put in on to watch as you waited for your pies to cook in the oven and Javi to get home. You shuffled through your VHS collection under the TV, rummaging around until you pulled out the worn tape, pushing it into the VHS player. After the movie had begun to play, you turned back around, letting out a defeated sigh at the current state of your kitchen.
As much as you loved baking, it always seemed to feel like a bomb had gone off by the time you were done as you looked around to see bowls, cutting boards and rolling pins in disarray on your counters. You grimaced to yourself looking around at the mess you had made, rolling up the sleeves of Javi’s oversized Texas A&M sweatshirt you had thrown on after you had woken up from your nap. With the way you had set up your apartment when you moved in, you were able to get a good view of your TV from the kitchen, cranking up the volume on your remote so you could listen and quote along to the movie as you worked on trying your best to clean up before Javi came home to your baking tornado.
At this point, you had seen the Wizard of Oz enough to quote it from front to back, especially as you and your brothers very early on in life had easily determined who got to be each part when you watched together. By default, because you were the only girl, your brothers told you that you had to be Dorthy, which you didn’t mind because you got the main part and to have Todo (Although your favorite family dog, Otis, an overweight yellow lab, wasn’t very pleased about having to be a part of you and your brothers yearly production). Charlie was always the Tin Man, being the oldest and most empathetic out of the rest of your brothers, David was Courage the Cowardly Lion, claiming lions were cool animals and that he was the bravest of your siblings, much to your disagreement, leaving Patrick as the Scarecrow, you and your brothers giving him the title of the smartest idiot you’d ever meet. After finishing washing the dishes, you had moved on to wiping down the counters, pausing and smiling to yourself as you heard the start to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” playing from the TV. You couldn’t help yourself as you began to sing along, swaying back and forth as you lazily wiped up your mess. You were so caught up in singing and dancing to yourself that you hadn’t even heard Javi open the door behind you.
Javi had quickly come to find out after moving in with you that not only coming home to you, but coming home to find you singing along to whatever CD you had playing as you meandered through the apartment, completely oblivious to his presence, was one his favorite things. There were times he could hear your voice as he went to unlock the door, making sure to open it extra quietly so he could stand in the doorway for a few moments, taking in the warmth and joy that radiated from you as you were lost in your own world. He soaked in every moment, watching every sway of your hip and shake of your head until you realized that he was home, making him just as happy for the big hug and kiss he got from you and your excited giggles as you greeted him.
He couldn’t quite make out what you had been signing as he carefully turned his key in the lock, gently closing the door behind him, grinning at the image of you dressed head to toe in his sweatshirt and sweatpants, messy bun plopped on your head as you bent over the counter, resting your elbow on the hard surface with your head propped up on your chin.
“Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can’t I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow, why oh why can’t I?”
Quietly setting down his bag and keys, Javi snuck his way over to the kitchen loud enough for you not be completely startled by his presence, as the song came to an end, making you turn your head over your shoulder to see Javi coming behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist from the back he pressed his chest into your back, making you giggle as he planted quick, soft kisses along the exposed skin of your neck and shoulder.
“I could listen to you sing all day, Hermosa.” Javi rasped into your ear, playfully shaking you in his grasp. “Wizard of Oz?” He asked, gesturing towards the TV as the movie continued in the background.
“Really? You want me to sing Days of the Week for you? I didn’t get to sing it today since there was no school, I really need to get my fix.” You retorted, giving Javi a little nudge as he rolled his eyes.
“Please for the love of God, no.” The both of you laughed as you looked back at the TV, watching Todo escape from the back of Mrs. Gulch’s bike basket.
“My brothers and I would always watch it the night before Thanksgiving. Not really sure how the tradition started, but figured I’d throw it on. I can turn it off if you don’t wanna watch or put on something else.” You replied, reaching over for the remote.
“No, keep it on, Osita.” He smiled, pressing a soft kiss on the top of your head, arms still resting along your hips as he held you. “I can’t fuckin’ tell you the last time I’ve seen this movie. I’m gonna be real honest with you, I never really watched it that much as a kid because the flying monkeys scared the shit outta me.”
“Seriously? They’re not even that scary. But we can fast forward through the monkey parts, if you need to, ya big bab-HEY!” You shrieked as Javi suddenly turned you around in his grasp so you were chest to chest before scooping you up and plopping you down so you were sitting on the counter. He placed his hands outside your hips, engulfing your body and making you squirm and laugh as he peppered ticklish kisses across your neck and face, trying your best to swat back at him. “Javi stop! You know that tickles!” You squealed, finally grabbing his arms, wrestling with him until he had given up, pressing a sweet, tender kiss on your lips.
“Oh yeah? Who’s the big baby now?” He smirked, running his hands along your thighs as your legs dangled over the edge of the counter.
“Still you, because I’m not irrationally afraid of poorly made monkey costumes.” You pointed your finger at him, prodding at his chest.
“They’re fucking terrifying, Osita. You’re the worst, you know that?”
“Oh really? You still gonna tell me I’m the worst when I take these apple pies out of the oven?” You smirked, crossing your arms over your chest as you nodded over to the stove.
“Fuck, I knew it smelled good in here. Does that mean I get to-”
“Don’t you dare even think about trying to sneak a piece of these pies before tomorrow, Javier Jesús Peña! These are for Thanksgiving, and even though there’s only the 3 of us, I still made two because I know if I put a pie down in front of you, you could probably eat the whole thing by yourself, and I am not making another pie after the disaster in this tiny kitchen that I just cleaned up.” You raised an eyebrow at Javi, trying to give him your best stern face, the two of you snickering at each other as you tried to scold him.
“Fine, fine. No pies.” Javi laughed, holding up his hands in defense. “Not even just a little-”
“Javi! No!” You shook your head, slapping his arm as he looked back over at the oven before looking back at you, a sly smirk spreading across his face. Grabbing at the meat of your thighs, he slotted himself in the empty space of your legs, spread open as you sat on the counter. His hands quickly slid up towards your waist, creeping under the hem of his sweatshirt you were wearing as he caged his chest against yours, nipping at your neck, his words hot and heavy on your skin. “Javi….” You moaned, tipping your head back as his kisses traveled down to your collarbone and hands tugged at the waistband of your sweatpants. “Javi, I’m gonna burn these pies, I don’t wanna have to make them again or explain to your dad that they’re burnt to a crisp because his son cannot keep his hands off me for more than 30 seconds. They only need to be in the oven for like-”
“10 more minutes?” Javi quickly cut you off, now beginning to slide your sweatpants down your thighs, firmly pressing his hands along the soft flesh of your now bare legs. “Oh, don’t worry, I saw the timer, Hermosa. Baby, you know I can take care of you in 10 minutes, now I just wanna see how many times I can get you off before the pies are done.”
“Seriously? You’re timing yourself? Are we placing bets on this too, while we’re at it? You are absolutely ridiculous, Javi, I swear.” You tried your best to roll your eyes, but as his hands crept down, palming the already wet patch that had been growing in your underwear, it was hard to pretend you were even annoyed in the slightest. Your breath hitched as he hooked his fingers around the waistband of your panties, shuffling them down your legs as he placed his hands on the inside of your thighs, pushing them open to reveal the slick of your arousal that had already been pooling between them. Gently, he ran his fingers through your folds, barley grazing over your clit before dropping to his knees, coming face to face with your dripping heat.
“3.” He said, carefully kissing along the inside of your legs, making his way closer and closer to your entrance.
“3 what?” You replied, trying your best to stay focused on anything Javi was saying as his nose bumped against your throbbing bundle of nerves, practically feeling his smirk against your pussy as he darted his eyes up at you.
“3 times. I bet I can make you cum 3 times before the timer goes off.”
“You’re a fucking menace, Javier Peña, you know that right?” You sighed, gripping your hands against the edge of the counter, feeling your cunt clench, desperate for him to ease the ache between your legs.
“Only for you, Hermosa. Solo para ti (Only for you).” Javi looked up at you, shooting you a quick wink before licking a broad stroke against your clit, making you gasp and your jaw go slack as you moaned breathlessly. That was all it took before he dove in, a man on a mission to make you cum as many times as he could in the few minutes he had. Your legs draped over his broad shoulders, his fingertips squeezing into the flesh of your hips as his pace became rapid and intense, licking and sucking at your clit in a way that had you writing on the counter, tugging at the dark curls of his hair for any sort of relief.
“Javi, holy shit baby, oh fuck.” You whined, bucking your hips towards his face and arching your back as he circled around your bundle of nerves, your moans and whimpers only making him press his tongue firmer against you. Even after all this time, there was a part of you that still couldn’t believe how fast Javi could make you cum. He had memorized every twitch, every tug of his hair, every breathy whisper to know what made you fall apart under his touch, loving every second of watching you come undone for him. You could feel the tingling beginning to creep up your legs and into your stomach as Javi sucked at your clit, pulling his head closer to your soaking core, desperate for more. “Please don’t stop, Javi. Fuck baby, fuck, fuck, I- ahhhhhhhhh.” That was all it took before you could feel the waves of pleasure rushing through your body, your pussy throbbing as your orgasm flooded over you, your body trembling at Javi’s relentless pace as he still worked at you as you came.
“Fuck, you taste so sweet, hermosa. Sweetest fucking thing I’ve ever tasted.” Javi smirked, his mustache covered in your slick as he peeked over at the timer counting down on the stove. “7 minutes? Plenty of fucking time, Osita. You want my fingers, pretty girl?” He mewled, satisfied as he stared at the soaking wet mess between your legs, knowing you were still needy for more.
“Mhmmmmhhh. Please, Javi, please.” You whimpered, your hand still buried deep in the brown locks of his hair, pleading for relief as your cunt clenched around nothing, desperate to be filled.
“Such a good girl, asking so nicely.” He cooed, slowly pushing his two fingers into your already drenched core, making you gasp at the thickness now filling you, bumping against the soft spongy spot that made your toes curl and your jaw go slack. Already so worked up from just moments ago, as soon as Javi’s mouth was back on your throbbing clit, you could feel yourself beginning to clench around Javi’s hand, arousal pooling in your belly. His fingers slid easily in and out of your heat, his hand and mouth working at a persistent pace as he felt you squirm under him, knowing how close you were again.
Your second orgasm hit you even harder than your first, moaning and panting incoherently as you tensed around the thickness of Javi’s digits, soaking his hand as he feverishly lapped up your slick, only removing his mouth after he knew you had come down from your second high to smirk up at you with a devilishly smug grin. He ran his free hand along your leg, grasping at your thigh as his other hand still slowly pulsed inside you, his fingers curling ever so slightly to the spot he knew would get him to his goal. As much as you wanted to, you couldn’t even blame him for self-satisfied smile- Javi knew just as well as you that he knew how to work you in all the right ways to get you exactly where he wanted you. “Gimme one more just like this, Osita. C’mon, sweet girl. Wanna watch that pretty face when you cum. ” You nodded, looking down at the shine of your arousal covering his smirk, knowing that at this point, you were so worked up and overstimulated that just the fingers already inside of you really were all you needed to give him your last orgasm.
Javi’s fingers had already sunk so deep into your cunt, already so overly sensitive to every push and pull of his hand, that your grasp on the counter had become so tight, you could feel your knuckles turning white. You cried out his name as it fell from your lips, babbling incoherently as the third rush of pleasure crashed over you, gushing onto Javi’s hand as awed at your blissed out state.
“That’s it, baby. Let it all go, hermosa. Fuck, you look so good like this. Can’t believe you’re all fuckin’ mine. God, you’re so perfect.” Javi carefully pulsed his fingers a few more times as he felt you clench around him, making you hiss as he withdrew his hand now soaked in your slick. Bringing his hand to his mouth, he sucked his fingers clean before rising up off his knees, taking his time to plant soft kisses along your body before grabbing your face, pressing his lips against yours the taste of you still tangy on his tongue. It wasn’t long until the beep of the oven timer was ringing through your kitchen, making Javi’s smug smirk only grow wider. “See? Told you I could do it 3 times before the pies were done.”
“Jesus Christ…” You swatted at him, trying to catch your breath, the two of you laughing and shaking your heads as he helped you slide down off the counter before pulling your sweatpants back up over your legs, walking over towards the oven. “If you think this was gonna change my mind about you getting a piece tonight, it’s not.” You raised an eyebrow at him, throwing on an oven mitt before reaching in to pull out the pies, sweet and steaming as they rested on the counter.
“Not even just a-”
You turned around, trying your best to give him your most stern look without bursting into giggles, making Javi hold his hands up in defense, stopping mid-sentence. “You can have all the pie you want tomorrow, you hungry, horny menace.” You laughed, taking off your oven mitt and pointing it at him.
Tomorrow.
He couldn’t help but smile knowing that in less than 24 hours, tomorrow meant a lot more than just getting to eat the apple pies that had just come out of the oven.

Javi felt like a little boy on Christmas morning. Sleep was an incredibly inaccurate way to describe the anticipated tossing and turning he had done all night, his heart racing excitedly as he counted down the moments until he finally got down on one knee, and asked you to be his wife. It didn’t take much to get Javi out of bed bright and early, his adrenaline pumping through his veins as he planted a soft kiss on the tangled and sleepy waves of your hair as you laid face down, snoring into your pillow, before sneaking out of your room into the kitchen.
As you shifted over in bed, reaching for Javi to pull him closer to you in your half asleep state, you scrunched your face, blinking as you looked over to find an empty space beside you, the sheets of Javi’s of the mattress left in a tangled pile in his place. Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you looked up to see the sunrise creeping through the cracks of your curtains, painting your bedroom walls in golden rays and silhouettes, blowing in the soft breeze from your cracked window. Reaching your arms over your head and letting out a big yawn, you crawled out of bed, shuffling across the carpet of your bedroom to your dresser to pull out another one of Javi’s sweatshirts before opening your door to hear the sounds of sizzling and popping coming from the kitchen. Creeping down the hallway, you peeked your head around the corner to see Javi and his messy, sleepy curls cooking away, working on what seemed to be like bacon and eggs, sitting next to an already completed giant pile of pancakes.
“Are we having breakfast for 12 this morning?” You giggled, your voice still soft and sleepy as you smiled at Javi, walking into the kitchen and hugging him from behind, snaking your arms around his waist, resting your body against his broad back. “You didn’t have to do all this, Jav. I didn’t know you were getting up to make breakfast this morning, I could have gotten up and helped.”
Javi set down his spatula, turning to face you, gently cupping your jaw as placed a soft kiss on your lips and forehead, squeezing you in a tight hug. “Good morning to you too, Hermosa. I know you didn’t. I wanted to surprise you and bring you breakfast in bed, but I guess I should have known better that you would be up before then.” He chuckled as you hoisted yourself up onto the counter, sitting next to the stack of pancakes you now noticed were separated by both blueberries and chocolate chips. He reached beside him, handing you the mug of coffee he had poured, gladly taking a generous sip before watching him finish up the rest of the scrambled eggs on the stove.
“Surprise Thanksgiving breakfast?” You laughed, tilting your head in confusion as you looked over at Javi before reaching down to grab a chocolate chip pancake, taking a bite and letting out a satisfied sigh.
Javi tried his best to keep calm and nonchalant, giving a little shrug as he scraped the eggs off the pan onto one of the empty plates, handing it over to you. “It’s uh- it’s your first Thanksgiving away from home, I don’t know- I know you love breakfast, I just wanted to make it special for you, I guess.”
“Well-” You paused, taking a big fork full of eggs, nodding your head as you chewed, “Oh my god these are good-” finally swallowing before finishing the rest of your thought, “You’re very sweet, and I am very, very thankful for you, and your delicious breakfast.” You grinned, leaning over to give Javi a kiss on the cheek on his scratchy, morning stubble as he dropped the rest of the eggs on to his plate, setting it to the side as he hooked his arms under your thighs, making you squeal as you draped his arms around your neck and locked your legs around the small of your back as he spun you around, peppering ticklish kisses against your soft skin.
“I’m so thankful for you too, Osita. Fuck, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, you know that? I love you so goddamn much.” His sweet, brown eyes locked with yours as your hands ran through the soft curls of his hair before tracing along his cheek, your thumb rubbing soft circles along his jaw.
“I love you too, Jav. Someone’s feeling sappy this morning.” You prodded, giving him one last quick peck before unwrapping your legs and setting your feet back on the ground, grabbing your plate and heading over to the couch to turn on the TV. Javi looked at the ground sheepishly, feeling the heat creep through his flushed face.
You didn’t even know the fucking half of it.
Javi had spent the rest of the morning trying his best to stay as even keeled as possible, but with how fast his heart had been beating since the moment he had gotten out of bed, he was surprised you hadn’t asked if he was having a heart attack as you pressed your head against his chest, cuddling up together on the couch to watch the rest of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after finishing your huge breakfast.
“Awh yes!” You grasped at Javi’s shirt, shaking the fist fulls of fabric in excitement as you stared at Santa’s sleigh now making its way across the TV screen. “Christmas time is finally here!” Javi shook his head, laughing to himself at the number of times you had already broughten up how excited you were for Christmas since the day November had started. “Are you gonna hate me if I start decorating and listening to Christmas music tomorrow?” You grimaced, twisting your head to look up at Javi.
“Jesus Christ, you weren’t kidding, huh? You really wanna start setting out Christmas shit tomorrow?”
“I will hold off until December 1st if I absolutely have to, but just know, each day that passes until then will kill me slowly.”
“And I’m the ridiculous one?”
“Pendejo.” You grumbled, giving him a nudge.
“You love me. That’s fine baby, I’m honestly impressed you held out this long.”
“Honestly, it’s only because I actually really do also like Thanksgiving, it deserves it's time to shine, too. Oh, speaking of which, I wanna call my family just to say hi really quick before we start getting ready to leave, is that okay?” You asked, pushing yourself up off the couch.
“Uh, yeah- yeah of course that’s fine, Hermosa.” He replied, seeming surprisingly flustered by your question. You obviously hadn’t seemed to notice, walking over to grab your phone off the receiver before punching in your house phone number, holding it up to your ear as the dial tone rang repeatedly. A confused look spread across your face as the ringing ended in your mom’s familiar voicemail, giving Javi a puzzled shrug as you left your message.
“Hi everyone, it’s me! Just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I miss you guys! If you try and call and I don’t answer, we’re over at Javi’s dad’s- Javi says hi too. Okay, well if I don’t talk to you later, then tell David not to eat too much gravy so he doesn’t shit his pants again. Love you!” You pressed the red button, ending your call as you set the phone back down. “That’s so weird that no one answered, they should all be home right now.”
“I’m sure they’re fine, baby. They’re probably just busy. I’m sure you’ll talk to them later.” He smiled, giving your outstretched hand a reassuring squeeze.
“Yeah, you’re right. We should probably start getting ready, when did your dad want us over again?”
“He said to take our time, he’ll have food ready whenever we get over there.”
“Well I feel bad that he’s there waiting all by himself. I’m good to hop in the shower if you are?” You suggested, pulling him up to stand from the couch.
“Don’t worry about me for the shower, I’ll clean up the rest of breakfast and you can start getting ready, okay?” Javi rubbed his hand along your arm, reaching up to tuck a stray hair behind your ear.
“Jav, you made me breakfast, the least I can do is help clean-”
“Osita. I know you’d help me clean up. I want to, okay? I wanted to get up and make breakfast for you, I’m not gonna let you clean up my mess.”
“Fine, Mr. Stubborn. Thank you. You sure I can’t-”
“Go get your ass in the shower, hermosa.” Javi gestured towards the bathroom, giving your butt a quick smack before heading down the hallway into the bathroom.
In all honesty, cleaning the dishes was the last thing Javi had on his mind as he was finally able to get you into the bathroom. Once he heard the water on and the shower curtain open, he snuck his way into the bedroom, digging through his sock drawer to pull out the giant sock ball with your ring buried inside it. Pulling the velvet case out of the fabric, Javi carefully opened the box, smiling at the glimmer of the piece of shiny jewelry, picturing how perfect it would look finally wrapped around your finger. He slipped the case into one of the inside pockets of his jacket, squeezing his hand around the fabric, as if to make sure this was actually happening. Quietly, he grabbed his cell phone from his nightstand, dialing up Chucho, anxiously chewing at the inside of his lip as he waited for his dad to answer.
“Hola, hijo.” Chucho answered, his voice filled with excitement and glee.
“Hey, Pops. She just started getting ready so I’m guessing we’ll be there in like, an hour and a half?” His dad could practically hear Javi’s nerves and anxiety now beginning to build as the realization that he was hours away from proposing was finally starting to hit him like a ton of bricks.
“Perfect. Everything and everyone will be ready, don’t worry, Mijo.” Chucho chuckled, trying to ease his son’s tension.
“Okay.” Javi’s response was short and unassuring as he ran his free hand through his dark curls before resting his hand on his hip.
“Javier. Tiene planeada un día mas perfecto para ella. Así que respiremos profundamente, todo está yendo bien. A ella le encantaría. Casi tanto como elle te ama.” (Javier, you have planned the most perfect day for her. Take a deep breath, it will all be okay. She will love it. Almost as much as she loves you). Javi took a long inhale, his dad 's words comforting him as his exhale followed.
“Thanks, Dad.”
“Claro, hijo (Of course, son). We will see you and your futura esposa (future wife) soon.”
“Te veré pronto. (I’ll see you soon) Bye.”
Hearing the water from your shower turn off, Javi rushed back into the kitchen, speed washing every dish and pan to make sure it looked like he had made good on his promise to clean up after himself while you were getting ready in the bathroom. With the dishwasher full and running, Javi made his way down the hall to see you standing in front of the bathroom mirror, wrapped in your towel, and starting to put on your makeup. He couldn’t help but gawk at you- Javi watching you get ready had become a staple in your relationship very early on, the two of you talking as Javi rested his hip on the counter, or sat on the lid of the toilet seat, smiling to himself, in awe of every beautiful part of you. But there was something about the way that Javi was staring at you right now as you peeked your head out of the bathroom that made your heart flutter. It wasn’t the I’d fuck you right now against the bathroom counter look that had become just as much of a staple as Javi watching you get ready, it wasn’t even the sweet, flirty look he’d give you when he just wanted to let you know how cute you were. The way Javi looked at you as you stood there in your fluffy towel, makeup half done and hair wet and tangled from the shower was a look that put butterflies in your stomach. He looked at you like you were the only person in the world. That he didn’t care if anyone else existed beside you. That you were the only person he ever wanted to look at like this.
“What’s that look for?” You blushed, setting down your mascara to stare back at him.
“You’re just- Fuck. You’re so beautiful, Osita. Everything about you. I’m so lucky.” Javi’s words were soft and gentle, his sweet brown eyes making you melt as they soaked in every inch of you.
“Does Thanksgiving always make you this sappy?” You giggled, biting down on your lip before turning back to the mirror. “Thanks, Jav. I hope you know I feel equally as lucky. Now go get your cute butt in the shower so we don’t have to make your dad wait any longer. I need to find the loosest fitting outfit I have so I can make room for when I eat my bodyweight in mashed potatoes.”

By the time Javi was finished getting ready, you were already out in the kitchen wrapping up the pies you had made last night to safely get to Chucho’s without any sneaky tampering from Javi.
“Well, you look handsome.” You smirked, watching Javi walk down the hallway in one of his dark washed pairs of tight jeans, paired with a tan button up and black jacket overtop of it. Javi’s jaw just about dropped as he watched you make your way out from around the counter, showing off the cute, burnt orange dress you had put on over your cream colored turtleneck.
“Me? Jesus Christ, look at you, Osita.” You giggled as you pressed up on your tiptoes, giving him a quick kiss as you draped your arms over his neck.
“Oh shhhh. Thank you, Jav. You ready to leave?” You smiled up at him, Javi praying you couldn’t feel how fast his heart was racing as he caged his chest against yours, thinking about the last drive he was ever about to make with you before you went from girlfriend to fiancé.
“I’m ready whenever you are.”
“Can I trust you to carry the other pie on the way down to the car without eating any of it?” You laughed, rolling your eyes as you reached over the counter to hand him the tin foil covered dessert.
“Yes, you can trust me. I think I left my phone in the bedroom, let me just go grab it really quick and then we can go, okay?” You nodded at him as he quickly made his way back to your room, cell phone already tucked away in his pants when he put on his jeans 15 minutes ago. He looked over his shoulder to check and make sure you hadn’t followed behind, pulling out the ring box one last time, taking a deep breath before giving it a little squeeze and stashing it back in his pocket.
It was really fucking happening.
As the two of you began your drive to what you assumed was Chucho’s, Javi turned up the volume of the CD he had picked out to play in the car, “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac now bumping through the speakers. He reached over the center console, intertwining your fingers with his as he grabbed your hand, smiling over at you as the melodic intro began. “This song always makes me think of the first night I ever stayed over at your apartment. All you had to eat was fuckin’ mac and cheese.”
“Oh my God, I remember that. I was so embarrassed because I had nothing else to eat and I didn’t want you to think I was a crazy person who only ate like a 10 year old. God, that feels like forever ago.” Running your free hand over your face, the two of you laughed over the melodic soundtrack playing in the background, the memory of that night making your heart grow warm.
“I guess. Honestly, it still almost feels like it was yesterday. I just remember how fucking nervous I was the whole goddamn night.”
“With how many times we fucked that night, you really didn’t seem nervous.” You giggled, rubbing your thumb over the rough skin of his hand interlaced with yours.
“I was. I was so nervous I was gonna fuck something up, because I knew I was already so fucking in love with you, and it scared the shit out of me. No one else has ever made me feel like you do. I knew from that day on I never wanted to live without you.”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, I felt the exact same. We’ve come a long way since then, huh?” The two of you smiled at each other as you leaned your head over to rest on Javi’s shoulder, Javi pressing a tender kiss in your hair, the sweet and familiar smell of your shampoo flooding him with comfort, easing his nerves just a touch as changed course from his usual route to the ranch, making you perk back up in confusion.
“Since when do we go this way to your dad’s house? We’ve never gone this way before.” You questioned, a puzzled look spreading across your face.
“I know. Just trust me, okay?” He grinned softly, giving you a reassuring squeeze of his hand.
“Okay?” You replied wearily, giving Javi a suspicious look. “What the hell are you up to?”
“Osita. Just trust me.”
“Fine, I should know better than to ask questions at this point, I know you’re not gonna tell me anything. Do I get a hint?”
“No, you dork.”
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” You grumbled, resting your head back against Javi as he drove the two of you down an unfamiliar path, the sounds of Fleetwood Mac filling the comfortable silence between you.
It wasn’t long until the road you were on started to become vaguely familiar, peeking out the window of the truck to try and piece together why your surroundings felt so recognizable. It wasn’t until you saw the white “For Sale” sign, now covered with “SOLD” in bright, red letters, peeking out of the tree lined driveway that you began to put two and two together.
“Wait… Isn’t this the place that we went to go see for Steve’s friend a couple weeks ago?” You asked, looking back at Javi as he slowed the speed of the truck, beginning to turn into the driveway.
“Mmmhhmm.” Javi nodded, his fingers drumming nervously on the steering wheel.
“It- It looks like he must have bought it, so why are we back here? Are you sure he’s fine with us just like, showing up here?” You were absolutely stumped as to why you were back at the plot of land you had gone to check out for Steve’s friend after his Halloween party until you rounded the corner along the “For Sale” sign.
“Yeah, I think he’ll be okay with it.” Javi smirked, gazing over at you.
Then all of a sudden, it hit you like a ton of bricks.
The conversation you had overheard between Javi and Steve at the Halloween party.
The reason why he had asked you to come look at this place for Steve’s buddy.
Why “SOLD” was plastered over the for sale sign.
You could physically feel your jaw drop, hanging open so wide, you wouldn’t have been surprised if it had dropped through the floor of Javi’s truck. Your eyes grew as you looked over at Javi, your head darting back between him and the trees lining the driveway, practically frozen in shock.
“Javi…” You whispered, your breath shaky and trembling from the butterflies building in your stomach. His silence had never felt more comforting, simply smiling back at you before putting the truck into park, hopping out to make his way to the driver’s side, opening the door for you. You quickly wiped your palms against your dress, feeling how sweaty they had become from the nerves building inside you before sliding out of your seat, walking hand in hand with Javi the last few feet down the driveway before the trees opened to the open, grassy field hidden behind it, just as charming and beautiful as you remembered it.
You had been so focused on the view in front of you, you hadn’t even noticed Javi tugging your hand over towards the old oak tree on the side of the property, wrapped in twinkling string lights and pictures of the two of you. Under the tree, a big plaid blanket laid spread across the grass, covered in piles of cute pillows and surrounded by a few candles and vases of beautiful orange and red flowers resting on the ground. You felt your heart race, knots of anticipation building in your stomach as you quickly began to realize the “SOLD” sign wasn’t the only thing Javi was trying to surprise you with.
Holy fuck, he was going to propose to you, too.
You used every last brain cell in you to try and form anything close to a coherent sentence, but the best you could get out as the two of you reached the blanket under the towering tree was a jumbled mess of tangled words, spilling from your mouth. “Javi- What, are- Baby, is this- Javi, I, I- Holy shit.” Your hands trembled as you reached out for one of the pictures hung around the base of the tree- One Chucho must have taken one of the days the two of you were out on the ranch, Javi carrying you on his back as the two of you laughed at each other with stupid grins on your face. You could practically feel your heart beating out of your chest, tears already beginning to well behind your eyes as you looked up at Javi.
“That one’s always been one of my favorites. You look so happy, Osita.” He whispered, rubbing his hand along your back as the two of you stared at the photo, Javi pressing a soft kiss against your head, letting out a shaky exhale as he pulled away. Grabbing your hand, he turned towards you, the Adam’s apple of his throat bobbing as he swallowed, trying to compose himself before he spoke again. “All I ever want is for you to be happy, baby.”
You let out an audible gasp, covering your trembling hands over your mouth as you watched Javi lower himself down onto one knee, tears welling behind those sweet brown eyes as he smiled up at you with that familiar gaze you realized you would now never have to live without.
“Osita. Baby, you make me the happiest man in the world. I don’t think I ever truly understood what it felt like to be this happy until I met you. I couldn’t be more thankful that your clumsy ass bumped into me all those months ago, because there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by since I’ve met you that my life hasn’t been better, because you’re in it. You’re everything I never knew I needed, and everything I never thought I deserved. You are the most beautiful, kind, and loving woman I’ve ever met. You’re also the most stubborn, headstrong, independent woman I have ever met, and I love every perfect part of you that makes you the person I feel head over heels in love with.  From the moment I met you, I couldn’t imagine how I could spend the rest of my life without you. I wanna spend forever with you, Osita. I wanna give you the world. I wanna start our lives together here. I wanna build you a house, I wanna fill it with as many kids as you want, I wanna spend the rest of my life here with you, because if I have that, that’s all I’ll ever need. You’re all I’ll ever need.”
Javi’s hands shook as he reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out the little velvet box that had been hidden inside, carefully opening the case to reveal the beautiful, oval cut diamond, nestled between little clusters of smaller stones, resting on top of a dainty and simple gold band. You could feel the tears streaming down your grinning cheeks, still trying to comprehend what was happening as Javi held the ring up towards you.
“Osita, I love you so much. Te amo más que a mi vida (I love you more than life itself). Baby, will you marry me?”
Javi could barely finish the question before you were jumping on him, wrapping your arms around him as tightly as you could, sobbing into his shoulder as the two of you fell onto the blanket, bodies tangled in each other as you laid on top of him.
“Of course. Of course I’ll marry you, you idiot. I love you so much.”
You laughed through your tears, grabbing his face, your lips meeting in an electric moment that made everything else around you stand still. You could feel each other’s grins against your parted mouths, laying back down on top of Javi squeezing him as tightly as you could to try and ground yourself in the reality of what had just happened.
“I think I’m supposed to put the ring on your finger now, you dork.” He laughed, pushing you both to sit up as he grabbed the case that had landed next to him on the blanket, cautiously taking out the ring, his thumb rubbing over the knuckles of your outstretched hand as he slipped onto your finger, the both of you staring at it in awe.
“Javi… Baby, holy shit this is beautiful. How did you- When did you-”
“It was my mom’s.” He grinned, biting down on his lip as he watched the ring sparkle on your finger before looking back up at you, the tears now building in both your eyes again. “When uh- In the end, before she passed, she always told me if I ever found someone, I could have it. I kinda wrote it off because I didn’t think I’d ever find anyone, let alone find you. I know I never really asked you what you wanted or liked, but-”
“Javi. It’s perfect.” You cupped his cheeks, your face beaming with joy as you shook your head still in absolute shock. As if the ring on your finger wasn’t enough, you looked back out at the green grass swaying in the gentle breeze, reminded of the fact that not only did Javi want you to be his wife, but this man had just told you he was about to build you a fucking house. “You really bought this? We’re gonna build a house here? This is all ours?”
“It’s all ours, Hermosa. Whatever you want, baby, I’ll build it for you.” Javi's face lit up watching the excitement radiating from you, your eyes darting back between the ring on your finger and the beautiful plot of land in front of you, trying to take everything in.
“You’re being serious? Like actually? We’re really gonna build a house here?” You asked, still trying to process.
“Yes, seriously.” Javi nodded, smiling at you as you shook your head in disbelief, burying your head in your hands and squealing before shooting up, running over to the middle of the empty plot grass, spinning in a circle, imagining the possibilities of what was to come.
“So we can have a big kitchen? And huge windows so it’s always sunny inside? And a porch on the back deck that we can watch the sunset? And a-”
“Baby, we can have whatever you want.” Javi chuckled to himself as you stood there for a moment, taking it all in before running back over to him, once again, tackling him to the ground pressing frantic kisses against his lips.
“We can finally have a bedroom big enough for a king size bed? Where we can hang out all day? And watch the sunrise? And have plenty of space to fuck my husband?” You smirked, feeling Javi’s cock twitch against the denim of his jeans as you laid on top of him. Javi let out a low groan as you hand snaked between your bodies, reaching down to palm at the bulge straining against his zipper.
“Say it again.” He rasped, planting hot, wet kisses along your neck, nipping at your skin.
“My husband. You’re gonna be my husband, Javier Peña.”
Husband.
Oh fuck, did that do something to do him hearing you say that out loud.
Grabbing you by the hips, he quickly flipped you over, your back resting on the blanket as he hovered over you, trailing kisses down every inch of your body before his palms pushed up the hem of your dress, grasping at the meat of your thighs. He cupped his hand against your core, already feeling the wetness that had begun to pool in your underwear, carefully hooking his fingers under the waistband before sliding it down your legs.
“Again, baby. Say it again.” He mewled, running his fingers between your folds, collecting your arousal as his thumb circled around your clit, making your breath shake as you spoke again.
“Husband. Fuck, Javi, I’m gonna be your wife.”
Now that, that one really did something to him.
“You’re gonna be my fucking wife.” Javi’s tongue darted between his parted lips as he sunk his two fingers deep inside you, making you moan beneath him. “I’m gonna be your fucking husband. I’m gonna take such good care of you, Osita. I’ll give you everything. Anything you want, Hermosa, I’ll give it to you.” His touch had you writing, bucking your hips against his hand as he thumbed at your sensitive bundle of nerves. His fingers curved ever so slightly, pressing against the soft spongy spot that made your pussy throb even more intensely than it already was. Javi’s forehead rested against yours, your noses brushing against each other as your words escaped from the soft, smirking curve of your lips, thinking about Javi’s promise.
“Anything? You’re gonna give me a house, your last name…you gonna give me a baby, too? Make you a husband and a daddy?”
Holy shit, you were really trying to fucking kill him.
Just the thought of that alone was enough for Javi to let out an audible groan, biting down on his tongue and taking a deep breath to compose himself so that he didn’t bust right that second. “Jesus Christ…” he growled, quickly removing his fingers, already soaked with your juices, making you whimper at the rapid loss.  Frantically, he undid his belt buckle, sliding his pants and boxers down his thighs to reveal his already hard cock, his tip red and leaking with precum. That was all it took before Javi was stroking himself, lining his tip up with your entrance and flushing his hips against yours, feeling his length bottom all the way out against your cervix, making you whine at his fullness inside you. You’d be lying if you said the idea alone hadn’t made you so wet and worked up, that even though Javi had barely spent any time working you open with his fingers, he still slid into your heat effortlessly.
“Fuckkkk meeee, Osita.” He grunted, already beginning to press into you at a rushed, sloppy pace. You had come to find out that while Javi had impressive stamina, there were times that the little things you said or did to him made him absolutely lose his mind. It would leave him so worked up and on edge, that his endurance flew out the window, barely standing a chance at lasting more than a few quick minutes buried inside you. Given your comment, the rate he was snapping his hips into yours, and that all too familiar lustful look in his eyes, you already knew he was a goner.
You grasped at fist fulls of his jacket, digging your fingers into the fabric as Javi punched deep into the spot that made your vision go white, feeling your cunt already beginning to clench around his cock as he rubbed his fingers frantically along your clit. “You want me to give you a baby, Osita? Shit- I’ll give you as many babies as you want. We’ll fill up every fucking room in this house. I’d fuck a baby into right now if I could. You’d like that, huh?” Javi hissed through gritted teeth, his strokes rapid and punishing as he punched against your g-spot, watching you whimper beneath him.
“Fuckkk, yes, Javi- ahhhh- Jesus, I want it so bad. I want everything with you, baby.”
“Fuck, Hermosa, I’m close- I can feel how close you are too, baby. So tight and wet. Give it to me, Osita. Want you to cum all over my cock before I fuck you full of me.” With a few more strokes, you could feel the tingle building at the base of your spine as your orgasm ripped through you, euphoria flooding through your veins across your body. Your moans and cries as you tightened around Javi’s dick had him moments away from coming undone just as fast as you had, his rambling becoming just as fast and boundless as his last few pumps inside of you.
“Fuck, you’re gonna be such a good wife- oh shit- such a good mom. I can’t until we can have a family to raise here- I can’t believe-ahhhh- I can’t believe your mine forever. Can’t believe I get to marry you, fuck a baby into you, holy shit, fuck, fuck- ohhhhhhh-” With one final thrust, Javi buried himself deep in your hilt, milking himself of every last drop of his spend, slumping into you, your chests rising and falling in unison as you both came down from your blissed out highs before pulling out from the wet mess between you.
“Well fuck me…” You giggled, running your hand over your face, smirking back up at Javi.
“Jesus Fucking Christ, Osita. I’d apologizing for fucking busting so quick, but goddamn, if you keep saying shit like that, I swear…” The two of you laughed, Javi picking up the hand covering your face, kissing the ring now wrapped around your finger before leaning down to meet your lips in a long, tender kiss.
“You liked that, huh?” You smirked up at him, biting down on your lip as he nipped at your ear, his voice low and raspy as his hot breath pressed against your skin.
“Baby, if you keep talking like that, I swear to God, I’m gonna find a way to beat your birth control and fuck a baby into you right this second.”
“I meannnnn, I wouldn’t be mad about it. You better stop saying shit before I run home and toss my birth control pills out the window, never to be seen again. No, no, this is bad, Jav! We aren’t even married yet, Jesus! We cannot be talking like this until we at least make that happen and we build this house. One step at a time.” You sighed, shaking your head and laughing to yourself as he tucked a stray piece of hair behind your ear before swiping his thumb along your bottom lip.
“One step at a time.” He repeated, softly gazing into your eyes, his sweet chocolate brown stare making you melt beneath him. “I love you so fucking much, Osita.”
“Te amo hasta la luna y de regreso, Javier Peña.” (I love you to the moon and back). I still can’t believe you did all this for me. I would have been happy with anything, but a proposal and surprise house combination is pretty fuckin’ tough to beat. Thank you, Javi. For everything. I am the luckiest woman in the world. I honestly still can’t believe this, oh my God.”
“There’s still one more surprise.” Javi grinned, his comment making you sit up in shock.
“Javi. Seriously? How could there possibly be any more surprises? Did you get me a fucking unicorn too?”
“Last one, I promise.”
Javi grunted as he pushed himself up to stand, extending his arm down to you to help pull you towards him. You couldn't help but wrap your arms around him, squeezing your body against the warm familiar space of his, staring out into the blank canvas that would be yours and Javi’s home. The two of you stood there for a moment in silence, smiles stretched wide across your faces as you held each other in the crisp November breeze, feeling like the only two people in the world to exist. No one but you and him. You had Javier Peña forever, and you were never letting go.
Tumblr media
As you had finally come to grips with the reality of what had just happened on the actual car ride over to the Peña ranch, you could feel your head spinning with questions as to how in the world Javi had managed to pull all of this off.
“Wait okay, so when did you get the ring? You hid it really well, I had no idea you even had it.  Did you set all of this stuff up? When the hell did you go buy this beautiful piece of land we’re about to build a house on? How long have you been-”
“Jesus Hermosa, one at a time.” Javi chuckled, resting his hand on your thigh to try and slow your interrogation as he drove.
“Sorry, sorry. I still can’t believe you did all of this, I wanna know all the details now! Okay, the ring- I’ll start there. God, it’s so pretty.” You beamed, holding out your hand in front of you to stare at it.
“I got it from my dad after my birthday party. Believe me, I would have done this sooner, but all the stuff with buying the fucking land was a pain in my ass, and took way longer than I thought it was going to. I put the offer in right before we left for Chicago, and didn’t close on everything until like 2 weeks ago. ” Javi sighed, shaking his head.
“Yeah Jav, I’m SO upset you didn’t get this beautiful piece of land to build our dream house on and propose to me a few weeks sooner, I’m calling it all off.” You joked, your voice oozing with sarcasm as Javi rolled his eyes at you.
“Pendejo.”
“Hey, you’re the one who asked to marry me. When did you decide building a house was gonna be a part of this whole plan?” You asked, smirking over at Javi, giving him a little nudge across the center console.
“For a while now. I looked at a few houses after I got the ring, but nothing felt right. My dad built our house on the ranch when he and my mom got married, and after talking with him, it was the only thing that made sense. I want our house to be everything we want. Everything you want.” He smiled, tracing his thumb in soft circles along your leg.
“Javi, we could live in a cardboard box together and I would be happy. I don’t care as long as I’m with you. Although, I’m not mad about it.” The both of you laughed to yourselves, stupid grins on your faces. “So like, are you gonna build it? Not that I don’t trust your construction skills, but that seems like a lotta house for one man.”
“Jesus, no. My cousin Danny’s a contractor- I talked to him when I was thinking about doing all of this. He helped me find the place and already agreed to start building whenever we’re ready. I told him obviously we would help whenever we could, and my dad has already offered to help too- he’s about to be over there every day, because he’s convinced the sooner the house is built, the sooner he gets his grandkids.”
“I think he may be the most excited out of anyone.” You giggled, shaking your head. “So he obviously knows about all this? Did he help with setting everything up?”
“Yeah, he had some help too.” Javi smiled as the two of you pulled into the driveway of the Peña ranch, the sun slowly beginning to set behind the horizon, the golden rays spilling in through the windows of his truck as he shifted it into park. He quickly got out, hopping around to your side of the car to open your door, taking your hand and helping you down after planting a soft kiss on your lips.
The two of you walked hand in hand up to the house, giddy with excitement to finally talk with Chucho about everything Javi had surprised you with today, almost forgetting that the 3 of you still had Thanksgiving to celebrate on top of everything else. “Oh shit, the pies!” You exclaimed, getting ready to run back to the truck before Javi grabbed your arm, stopping you in your tracks.
“I’ll go get them in a minute, let’s go inside, okay?” He insisted, dragging you back towards the house.
“Javi, it’ll take like 2 seconds, I-”
“Ostia. Just go inside, okay?”
“Fine, fine!” You laughed, reaching your hand down to twist open the doorknob, looking up at Javi’s boyish grin. “I just don’t understand why-”
“OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, THEY’RE HERE! AHHHHHHH HONEY!”
You stood there for a moment, wondering who the hell was screeching at the top of their lungs, ambushing you in a hug that felt more like a death grip than anything else. It took a second before you processed the all too familiar voice and arms wrapped around your body, making your heart race and tears begin to fall down your face.
“Wait, wha- Wait Mom?! What are you-”
“Oh sweetheart, oh my God! BOYS! GET YOUR ASSES OUT HERE! COME CONGRATULATE YOUR SISTER.” Your Mom shouted over your shoulder, still squeezing you in her arms, shaking you frantically. “JAVI, HONEY, AH WE ARE SO HAPPY FOR YOU!” Your mom shrieked, pulling Javi in for just as tight of a hug as the one you had just gotten a few seconds earlier before turning back to you, squeezing you again.
“Wait, everyone- Mom, what the fuck? What are you- wait, what are you all doing here?” Finally beginning to come to, you pulled away from your mom to see not only Chucho, but your dad, brothers, and nieces all smiling back at your awestruck face.
“Language honey, Jesus, just because you’re getting married doesn’t mean you get to swear at your mom.” She swatted at you, rolling her eyes.
You took another step back as your eyes darted between Javi and your family, your jaw hanging open in absolute shock. “But when did you- how did- Wait, what is happening?” You ran your hands through your hair, head swiveling back and forth, looking for someone to explain how the hell your family had ended up here, at the Peña Ranch in Laredo, Texas.
Shuffling up behind your mom, your dad greeted you, pulling you in for a quick hug and little noogie on your arm before doing the same to Javi, standing between the two of you as he spoke. “Once this kid knew when he was gonna propose, he wanted to find a way for us to be there. He knew how much you didn’t wanna miss Thanksgiving, which I don’t fucking understand, I thought you were gettin’ a get outta jail free card from these idiots,” He gestured over at Charlie and David, shrugging in agreement before turning back to you, “Javi asked if we wanted to come down here for Thanksgiving so we could celebrate it and spend it with you. You found a good one, kiddo.”
“Congrats, asshat. If there’s hope for you, then there’s hope for us all, isn’t there?” David snickered, giving you a playful punch before patting you on the back for a hug.
“To say there’s hope for you is generous.” You smirked at David, elbowing him back as Olivia squealed, running up to you with her arms outstretched, her patience running out as she waited for the grownups to finish talking.
“AUNTIE BEAR!”
“Cutie patootie!” You shrieked back, picking her up and spinning her around.
“Auntie Bear, did Mr. Javi do the surprise? Did you know that Mr. Chucho has cows?! And horses!? I got to go pet one and Brianna did too, but she was scared and cried, but I didn’t ‘cause I’m really brave!” Olivia beamed, giggling as you gave her one last twirl as you set her back down.
“You got to go see the animals? Aren’t they so cute? Yes, Mr. Javi did the surprise, it was a really good one.” You smiled back at Javi, tears welling in your eyes, wondering how your heart could feel any fuller.
“This niñita y su hermana (little girl and her sister) took very good care of the animals this afternoon. Gracias, peque (thanks, little one).” Chucho grinned, reaching down to give Olivia a gentle high five as she bounced in excitement before looking back up at you. “Oh mija. I am so happy for you both. Your family is a hoot, I will tell you that. I see where you get your spunk from.” All of you laughed as you wrapped your arms around Chucho.
“Mr. Peña, that’s a very nice way of calling us the biggest bunch of annoying idiots you’ve ever met, so thank you.” Charlie remarked, making everyone laugh equally as hard as he leaned against you, holding your other niece, Brianna as he ruffled your hair. “I’m so happy for you, Cubby. Natalie says she wishes she could be here, but with the baby, she couldn’t make it out.”
“I’d ask if she was mad, but considering you got these two little monsters and yourself out of her hair, I’m guessing she’s kind of relieved. Tell her we’re excited to meet baby Lucas at Christmas. Thank you, Charlie.”
Now that you had finally said hello to everyone, you turned back around to look at Javi, the look on his face only slightly smug as he winked at you, shaking your head back at him in disbelief. “You are absolutely insane, you know that?” You tried to laugh through your tears, caging your chest against Javi’s as you hugged him, wondering how in the world you had ended up so goddamn lucky. “Thank you, Javi. This is- I can’t- I don’t even know what to say. I love you so much.” Javi reached down, brushing a stray piece of hair from your face as he cupped his hand around your jaw, smiling out at your family before back down at you.
“I told you, Osita. You deserve everything. I’m glad I get to spend forever trying to give it to you. I love you too.” He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss on your lips, quickly interrupted by the sounds of Olivia’s disgust at the two of you.
“Ew, that’s really gross. Auntie Bear, do you have to kiss him now because you’re getting married? Maybe just do that when I’m not here.” She grimaced, covering her eyes and sticking out her tongue. Your family burst out in laughter, only to be interrupted once again by your mom’s excited screams.
“MARRIED! Honey, you’re getting MARRIED!”
“Jesus, Pam! I’m right here! You’re gonna blow out my fuckin’ ear drum!” Your dad winced, covering the sides of his head with his hands.
“Yeah. Yeah, we’re getting married.” You replied to your mom, without breaking your stare up at Javi, your cheeks warm and full from the grins between them.
Tumblr media
The rest of the night was spent full of joy and laughter as all of you gathered in the Peña’s kitchen for Chucho’s Thanksgiving feast, telling your family all about the surprises of your day, listening to them explain their antics of getting from Chicago to Laredo, how they had spent the day with Chucho at the ranch after helping set up for the proposal, and stories of Thanksgivings past, and the sweet memories of the family you’d wished could have been here to celebrate. The hours passed by like seconds as you ate more than your fair share of food, (excluding the pie you had made, considering Javi and your brothers practically inhaled it from the moment it was set out on the table), and laughing harder than ever as your family taught Javi and Chucho how to play “Chaos Cutlery”- your family’s version of the game “Spoons”, which wasn’t really that much different besides the element of danger involved with your competitive-ass siblings.
You truly didn’t think that your heart could get any fuller as you looked around to see all of the people you loved more than anyone in the world all gathered in once place, celebrating the happiest day you had ever had with the man you were going to get to call yours for the rest of your life. As the hours of the night grew later and later, you found yourself fighting off the sleep from your amazing, but exhausting day, not wanting the dream that had been today to come to an end. It wasn’t until Javi noticed you softly snoring against his shoulder as you were sitting on the couch, realizing the only ones left awake were him and your brothers, deep in an argument about who would win in a fight between 100,000 chickens and 10 dinosaurs, that he realized that it was probably time to get you home.
“Hermosa.” He whispered, pressing a soft kiss on your forehead. “Baby, let’s get you home, okay?”
“I’m awake. I don’t want today to be done.” You grumbled, half-asleep, eyes still closed shut as you curled into Javi’s lap.
“Osita, it’s 1 in the morning, everyone else is asleep too. Your family’s here all weekend, baby, I promise we’ll get to spend lots of time with them, we gotta get you home before I fall asleep, too. C’mon.” He chuckled to himself, watching you scrunch your face, trying to wake yourself up as he helped to pull you off the couch. Javi tried his best to say goodbye to his dad to let him know you were leaving, even though he had already been sound asleep for the past hour in his chair with Olivia and Brianna on either side of him, the trio up well past their usual bedtime. Javi's heart fluttered at the sight, watching the fabric of your families lives intertwining to become one, fitting perfectly together. After you and your family said your half coherent goodbyes for the night, Javi helped hoist you up into the truck before the two of you headed back to the apartment.
Curling over the center console to rest your head against Javi’s shoulder, a sleepy smile spread across your face tangling your hand in his as he traced gentle circles with his thumb along your skin.
“Javi…” You mumbled, your eyelids heavy with sleep as your blinks grew slower and slower.
“Yeah, baby?”
“This was the best day I think I’ve ever had in my entire life. No, I know it was the best day I’ve ever had in my entire life. I can’t believe you wanna marry me. And build me a house. And that you made sure my family was here to celebrate. I love you so much, Javi. Thank you for everything. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Today’s the best day I’ve ever had too, Osita.” He grinned, pulling your intertwined hand with his up to his mouth, pressing a tender kiss on your knuckles. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you too, Hermosa. I can’t imagine it without you. Te amo con todo mi corazón (I love you with all of my heart).” Javi let out a content sigh, pausing for a moment, waiting for response. It didn’t take him long to realize that you were already back asleep, the sweet sounds of your snores against his sleeve making him laugh to himself. “Dulces sueños, mi amor. Soy el hombre más afortunado del mundo. (Sweet dreams, my love. I am the luckiest man in the whole world.)
As Javi spent the rest of the drive with you propped up against his arm, he couldn’t help but smile at the beautiful gold band wrapped around your finger, resting in his lap.
Before you, Javier Peña didn’t really have much to live for. He didn’t think he’d deserved to. He was tired and broken, disappointed in the man that he had become. Now, you had become his everything. His light, his hope, the thing that made life worth living. You had taken his broken and battered pieces and put him back together. You had made him whole again. On a Wednesday in May, Javier Peña had fallen head over heels with you, the woman who would forever change his life for the better. And on Thursday in late November, the woman who had forever changed him, was now his forever, too.

Kissing Booth - Kiss for a Cause!
All donations go to the local LGBTQ+ teen shelter!
James had noticed the bright red signs around campus for a couple days, not sparing it a second thought. There are always lots of charity opportunities and donations happening around campus, a kissing booth is nothing special.
But now, he faces the multi-colored kissing booth in front of the library and his heart skips a beat.
He never imagined he could be working the kissing booth.
Regulus Black—also known as James Potter’s biggest weakness—is standing behind the kissing booth counter.
James does a double take, eyes drinking up every beautiful detail of Regulus. His hair is immaculately curled and styled today, gently tucked behind one ear. His eyes are bright and discerning, gray and stormy as he looks up at James. Regulus is wearing a blue shirt and gray jeans, and his many silver rings catch James’ attention. James is obsessed with Regulus’ rings—he could write sonnets about Regulus’ rings, his hands, how utterly perfect Regulus is.
He hurriedly hops in line for the kissing booth, antsy and impatient during the time it takes for him to reach the front. He’s fidgeting and overthinking and bouncing on one foot—and finally, he comes face to face with him. James is breathless, staring at Regulus. The younger boy is far shorter than James, and James is endeared to him even more for it. The top of his dark curly head barely comes up to James’ mid-chest.
“Regulus,” James breathes out, smiling wide and toothy.
“Potter,” Regulus says—and James nearly scoffs. The audacity he has, to call him Potter, as if they’re on a last name basis!
“Can I get a kiss, Regulus?” Say yes, say yes, say yes—
“Do you have change, Potter?” Regulus is smirking up at him, but his eyes look far too sharp, and James feels like he’s the victim of a cruel prank.
“Right, right—uh, five dollars, is it?” James pats his pockets, searching for the five-dollar-bill he pocketed this morning.
Regulus clicks his tongue, looking bored. “Ten dollars, actually—price went up,” he says.
James looks at the bulletin, seeing a very clear FIVE DOLLARS in bubble letters. He goes to point, spluttering, “It says—”
James is met with a cutting glance and a mean smirk. “Want to make it twenty?”
“No! No, Reg—”
“Ah, too late. Twenty it is,” Regulus interrupts, looking positively gleeful as James stares at him in horror. “For charity.”
“Regulus, you’re—”
“Twenty five, Potter?” Something warm and unexpected blooms in James’ chest, and it feels like they’re playing a game. Regulus is having too much fun being mean to him.
“Stop, no inflation, please, let me find some change, for goodness sake!” James frantically searches his bag, his pockets, finding only thirteen dollars on his person.
But James Potter is no quitter—and he refuses to lose this game.
James talks to everyone in line, begging for a spare dollar, “Hi, the name’s James, I am at a point of desperation, do you have any spare change?”
By chance or pure luck, James manages to scrounge up twenty-two dollars, and he finds himself at the front of the line again.
“Regulus,” he says, just as breathless as before. Regulus looks up at him with his pretty eyes, shining with amusement. His pink lips are quirked up in a smile. “I have twenty-two dollars for you, which is way more than you charged anyone here, but I love a good charitable cause, of course—”
“James, shut up—” Regulus reaches forward and tugs harshly on the front of James’ shirt. He falls forward into the booth and steadies himself with a hand on Regulus' waist, like muscle memory. His other hand finds Regulus’ face, cradling it so gently as he pulls James into a kiss, and he moves automatically—as if they’d kissed a thousand times before. But they hadn’t, and James is learning exactly what Regulus tastes like for the first time, and he is definitely losing his mind.
Regulus is flush against him, warm in James’ arms, making the prettiest noises into James’ mouth that James eats right up, eager to swallow every part of him.
They kiss and kiss in the middle of the courtyard, far too indecently—and James can’t help but hope that Regulus hadn’t been so filthy with everyone else.
Regulus pulls away, chest heaving and lips red and kiss-bruised. Despite not being an artist, James desperately wants to paint this version of him—to emphasize the contrast between his cool colors, gray and blue and black, to the warmth of his blush and lips, the brown freckles on his nose. James thinks he’s the prettiest view he’s ever seen.
“Was that worth you twenty dollars in change, James?”
“Twenty-two,” James corrects breathlessly, “and yes, it was, Regulus.”
Regulus smiles at him, tucking a fallen curl behind his ear. He bites his lip. “Do you—um, do you want to do it again sometime?”
James’ heart stops, anticipation flooding through him. “Do what, in particular?”
Regulus’ cheeks flush redder. “Oh, the uh—kissing part?”
His heart restarts, pounding in his chest with a vengeance. He’s sure the entire courtyard can hear the thump of his heart. “Do I have to scrounge up another twenty-two dollars for it?”
Regulus huffs. “No, Potter, of course not. I just thought—”
“Of course I would. Like to kiss you, I mean. Can we schedule a date first?’
Regulus nods eagerly. They get each other’s numbers, they schedule a date, and James gets to wax poetic about his boyfriend’s beauty at all times. And he doesn’t need spare change as an excuse to kiss his crush anymore.

Omg I LOVE your konig!cowboy story, it's entertaining just how dumb bee is around this whole farm life, but what if she wasn't really that stupid? Like imagine konigs computer completely shuts down, and he's not the most tech literate but bee sees the problem and goes full city slicker tech bro mode and fixes it in no time, showing she is in fact competent, just not about her current life
Congratulations on unlocking Bee's expertise.
This is almost exactly what I had in mind when I was trying to figure out how she could just up and move and do wfh and generally have no clue how to own a farm. I think she's 100% a tech jockey of some kind, maybe a little bit of a hacker type. She's very smart but only about her areas of expertise.
König's laptop is open on the kitchen table when you drop by, the blue screen staring at you like an angel of death. You wince a little. You hope he wasn't working on anything important. You set your fabulously not failed cookies on his kitchen counter and pull out the chair in front of the computer.
"König, you mind if I poke around on your computer a little?" You call, straining to hear any movement before he pokes his head into the kitchen. He narrows his eyes at the computer for a moment, and damn you've never seen someone think so long about having their tech salvaged. "I won't check your browser history or anything if that's what you're worried about, just wanna get it running again."
König makes a noise of surprise and embarrassment. "I am not worried about that!" He sputters, which tells you he actually was worried about that. You shrug and flex your fingers a little. "Don't poke around too much." He relents, you grin, men are all the same.
"I'll stick to drivers and operating files only," he gives you a blank look, you press a few command keys to pull up your favorite little black box, "I'll just get it back to working."
You spend a few minutes manually filling in code and resetting the garbled muck that's filling your neighbor's computer. It's not too bad but he's got a nasty worm that seems to have been installed through a lousey torrent. You wipe the last few installs as best you can, calling König over to translate every so often. It's bad enough reworking an operating system in English, you're losing your mind trying to parse German files.
Eventually he finds a chair to sit next to you and watch. You pull your feet up onto the chair, your posture atrocious as you concentrate.
"I don't even know what half of this is," You grumble, staring at what looks like a matrix of some sort, a really sparse one.
"Which one is giving you trouble," König follows where you point on the screen, eyes narrowed against the brightness as he reads through named files, "Ah, this is security."
"Your place has security? We're in the middle of nowhere," You shoot him a look, he hums half agreeing, "I'll leave it."
"Braves Mädchen," he breathes, "you're very good at this."
"I hope so, can't exactly fall back on farming." You grumble, fingers working to finish your repairs to Königs frankly ancient laptop. This thing is going to be running marathons when you're done with it. Probably best to avoid any major changes to the OS though, König doesn't seem like he'd be willing to learn new shortcuts.
This is good though, you feel like you're paying him back for helping you out so much. Especially when you hit the button for the final restart and everything springs to life with a pleasant chime. You smile at your work, typing in König's shitty password to check that everything is working alright. You check the time, updating the clock to the correct time zone.
You stop, dread making your stomach roll. Is it really that late? "We were supposed to see a movie," You frown. König shoos your hands off the keyboard and shuts his laptop, it rings like a death bell on your ever present forgetfulness. "I'm sorry, I didn't even realize, and now we've missed it," König raises a hand to stop your apology.
"I don't mind," He's so sweet, his eyes smiling at you over his bandana, "I enjoyed watching you work, it was very... informative." You offer a hesitant smile, that's certainly one way to put it.
König watches you straighten up from your position over the computer, knees dropping from where you'd pulled them up by your chest as you arch your back to stretch out the kinks. The satisfied little noise you make at the quiet pop is going to bounce around his mind for a while yet. The same way your focused stare and the silent movement of your lips as you read will stick with him.
He would have asked you for help sooner, but there was too much about you on that laptop to be safe. Still, your discretion was a credit to your professionalism. Although your flagrant dismissal of what you must have thought were his porn habits was... telling. How many men have jumped to get their computer out of your hands?
"I better go home, gotta feed the critters and all." You stand, grabbing your bag from the floor, "Thanks for letting me fix your computer."
"Of course," König stands as well, walking with you to the door, "Danke Schön, hummelchen." He tells you quietly, holding the door above your head.
"Bitte schön, König," your pronunciation is hesitant, but still leaves him wide eyed staring down at you, "I Googled a few basics." You explain, as if that could be the reason for his silence.
"I see," König tries to keep his voice from sounding too tight, thinks he even succeeds at it, "Then, Gute Nacht."
"Gute Nacht!" You reply enthusiastically, giving a wave as you turn to leave. His fingers tighten on the door, grabbing something other than your throat. If you were going to speak his mother tongue so prettily, you should have at least warned him. Maybe then he wouldn't have to close the door half hard. You are going to be the death of him.

There I was—a loner, sitting inside a crowded lounge, looking at the ring laying in the palm of my hand.
"It's just not going to work." I told myself over and over again, but I had nothing to lose.
I bought it weeks prior from a weird yet friendly stranger—a middle-aged dude looking quite sharp, but something about him was off. He contacted me after I went down the hypnosis rabbit hole. I read multiple articles and posts and watched so many different videos about how to hypnotize someone, willing or not. I even left a comment under one post, even though I was anxious. I was new to this—all of this—and I didn't want anyone to look at me differently.
I always dreamt of hypnotizing a handsome jock to make him my own, but this wasn't happening in real life, was it? That's exactly what I thought when that man reached out to me, offering me this ring. A beautiful silver ring with a blue stone—alluring yet nothing too special.
Tumblr media
He told me that this would help me make my wish come true; the only thing he asked for was for me to share some of my future "acquaintances."
I shook my head in disbelief. I was so stupid to trust in this man and his sly smile. He was probably enjoying my hundred bugs while I was blinded by my fantasies.
I put the ring in my pocket and got up from my table. There was no point in staying here any longer; I wanted to go home.
But that's when I saw this handsome man sitting at a table, all alone. He was smoking a cigar and blew a ton of smoke into the air all around him while leaning back against the sofa. His eyes wandered through the room; he seemed to enjoy the attention he was getting from a few people around the lounge, including me.
Tumblr media
He looked so good—a well-groomed beard, nice hair, a very hot body—everything I dreamt of. That man had that look on his face: he knew how good he looked, and he was bathing in attention—mine at least.
Something deep inside me wanted this man so badly. I immediately imagined him being mine and mine alone—how good it would feel to touch him, toy with him, and just own him. Good god, I felt myself getting lost inside this daydream.
At this point, I felt the ring inside my pocket. I pulled it out again, looking at it with desire and anxiety. Would this actually work? Or was I in for a beating?
"Fuck it." I breathed and let the silver slide onto my finger. Oddly enough, it fit quite well, but I wasn't feeling any different. I hoped it would feel different, special, or something else. This wasn't encouraging at all.
Shaking my head again, I made my way through the crowd toward that beautiful stranger. He didn't even look at me until I sat down right next to him, causing him to turn his head, giving me a curious but suspicious look.
"Can I help you?" That guy looked at me; I felt his gaze burning my skin, even though I wasn't looking at him yet. I knew he saw me for what I was: a loner, maybe a random creep, but I didn't care.
I placed a finger at the ring and moved it, causing the crystal to move along my finger.
"I hope so." I said, my voice breaking slightly when I turned my head to meet his gaze. Fuck, he was even better looking up close. His lips, eyes, and beard are perfection.
The guy narrowed his eyes at me, and I felt the tension rising between us.
A little taken aback, he regained his composure. "Oh fuck, he was going to clock me," I thought. But the guy online told me to do exactly that—make the ring spin a few times.
"I don't know who you are, but you better..." The guy suddenly stopped, his eyes now stuck at the slightly glowing ring.
I was prepared to just make a run for it when I noticed that he was focused on the ring. His expression softened slowly; the scowl vanished completely, replaced by an empty look in his eyes.
Oh, those beautiful eyes—they lost their shimmer, just barely, but I could tell something was happening deep inside that gorgeous head.
As I kept spinning the ring, he tilted his head, and his expression softened even more. He looked at me with uncertainty, like asking for help. Both of us didn't know what was happening.
"Who?" He said it, with his voice sounding a little deeper than before. I looked him in the eyes before he broke eye contact.
The guy placed a hand on his chest, looking into the distance. He wasn't looking at anything in particular, and his face turned blank.
I was shocked yet aroused. He had a similar expression to all those handsome studs online when they went under, and I felt the ring heating up against my skin. It didn't hurt, but it was kind of unpleasant.
He took several deep breaths until he closed his eyes, leaning back against the sofa again.
"Are you okay?" I said, unsure of what was exactly happening to him, because it couldn't be caused by the ring, could it?
Carefully, I placed a hand on these thick thighs, but he didn't react at first; instead, he slowly opened his eyes after a few seconds, looking at me with vacant eyes and his mouth hanging open.
He looked soft and submissive, and I had to control myself not to let out a moan right here and then.
This was the exact expression I was seeing online in all those videos and pictures, but was he just messing with me? He and the other guy must be toying with me. This can't be real.
I contemplated just leaving, but something deep inside me told me to stop. The guy kept looking at me, waiting for something—perhaps orders.
My eyes shifted across his face and upper body as he wasn't moving an inch. That's when I noticed the cigar in his other hand.
"Do you mind?" I motioned for the cigar, and without any hesitation, he gave it to me and watched me as I started smoking.
I felt the hot smoke fill my lungs, and I just tested my luck. I blew smoke right into the guy's face, but, unbothered, he kept looking at me.
This made me cry right away. Fuck, he was so hot. I started to stroke his thighs gently, and he started to growl contently, even closing his eyes for a second.
If this was a joke, I admired his commitment. But what if it was real?
I looked at the still-shimmering ring and then back to the stud. He was breathing deeply, and I loved seeing his chest heave with every breath he took. I licked my lips while stroking his thighs.
"What's your name?" I asked him as I moved a little closer before putting the cigar into the ashtray.
"M..Matt." His now-rough voice barely came out as he struggled to think. He really was a mindless toy, just responding to me.
"I want to go home, Matt. Do you want to come?" I asked him, my voice breaking once more. I expected him to deny my request, but to my surprise, he just nodded.
I blinked a few times; I couldn't believe my luck. Was that ring actually working?
"Let's go then." I motioned toward the door and started to get up from the sofa.
He was a bit unsteady on his feet and needed my help to regain his composure again, but then he followed me closely. A few people watched us, but I don't care what they might have thought. I was going home with that little, empty jock boy.
Everything happened so fast, and I found myself on the road, with that beautiful specimen sitting beside me, watching me closely.
I felt my cock tent hard inside my jeans; I was surely already leaking just looking at this man. At every stop, every red light, I turned my head to find him looking at me: his eyes slightly unfocused, that muscly man with an empty mind.
I was still in disbelief—that ring—was it really the source of all this? Maybe, but that was something to figure out later.
Just then, the guy started to growl again, and when I turned my head, I found him stroking his own dick through his jeans. So fucking hot.
I felt the ring heating up around my finger—was it reading my mind? Hearing soft growls and moans, I couldn't help it. Instinctively, I stroked myself as well, just like all the times watching videos online.
A warm glow engulfed my stomach as he kept stroking himself while looking at me. I knew I couldn't wait any longer.
I took a turn toward the first empty parking lot, stopped the car, and tried to steady my breath. The car was filled with Matt's deep voice, growling and breathing deeply.
I bit my lower lip, and watching that stud get more and more into it made me harder than ever before. Subconsciously, I reached out and placed a hand on his chest. Right away, he moaned deeply.
His chest felt so good; all the hours he spent hitting the gym paid off as all of his muscles tensed hard against the fabric of his thin shirt. Just touching him made me nearly lose it.
Matt leaned his head back and closed his eyes for a few moments before staring into the distance again. He struggled to keep the door open, like a sleepy, horny jock boy. At the same time, he kept touching himself firmer and firmer.
My body was shaking, my dick was pulsating inside my jeans, and my breathing got even quicker. I hold back a giggle while intensifying my strokes. I observed how firm his pecs were and how they imprinted through his clothes as his entire body bulged more and more.
"Fuck." I moaned, playing with his hard nipple, when he suddenly turned his head toward me, smiling derpily. He was enjoying this just as much as I was.
"Let me see." I held back another long moan before I pulled his shirt up, taking a long, good look at his bare chest. Oh, fuck, was he hot? He was hairy as well, just the way I liked it. I ran a hand along his entire chest, through his pecs, and down to his treasure trail, and Matt was grunting under his breath like a puppy.
Tumblr media
As I stroked him again and again, he smiled at me, completely unbothered. His skin felt so good, soft yet firm, and all of him reacted to the most gentle touch. His breathing quickened slightly, and Matt swallowed hard a few times.
He just purred happily and smiled, while my hand ran over his entire chest over and over again. His body was telling me about his excitement. His muscles grew harder, veins got more visible due to the tesnion building up inside him, and most importantly, his dick was standing at attention.
With one final stroke, I let my hand run down right to his crotch, and when I felt him for the first time, he left the tip of my cock. I tried to hold it back, but I just couldn't. I grabbed myself, trying to stop, but it just felt too good. Matt was still smiling with that lovely empty expression, and I felt that ring heating up once more. It didn't bother me; I was too busy fondling my new toy.
I tried to focus, but I could see my own cock move inside my pants. Turning away, I looked at the guy again, who was now drooling while moaning contently. In response, I groaned loudly, and my back bent away from the seat—my body held in so much pressure, and feeling this guy's massive cock made it much worse.
"Fuck." I growled deeply, and that's when Matt reached out to me. At first, I thought he snapped out of it or the spell was broken, but instead, he grabbed my hard cock as well and started to fondle with it, making it much harder to not cum already.
The ring was now burning my skin again, but that pain was nothing compared to the pure pleasure running through my veins.
Together, we unbuttoned my jeans, exposing my wet boxers, but he didn't hesitate. He tugged at my underwear—so eager, yet his expression was emotional. Still, it felt so good to be touched by him—his warm hands, his gentle touch—so good.
With a little help, he pulled my boxers down—the tip of my dick was clinging on to the wet fabric, fuck.
I looked at him again, and he was looking at me. I placed a hand on his cheek and stroked him; his skin was so soft, his beard well taken care of, and his lips were a dream come true. My hand ran through his hair as he kept purring.
Firmly, I grabbed his neck and pulled him closer, smelling him for the very first time. His cologne was thick, yet the smell of sweat was coming through more and more.
My eyes rolled back quickly before I regained my composure. He kept looking at me while I pushed him down, but, like a well-trained boy, Matt opened his mouth, swallowing my hard cock whole.
I could have cried out right then, but it was just the beginning.
That guy knew his way around a man's cock, using his tongue while sucking me off. Rhythmically, he moved his mouth while I encouraged him to go even deeper.
I never had this before: a hot guy willingly—more or less—sucking my cock. It was a sight to behold. It made my entire body heat up quickly, as I was edging myself on already.
I didn't know if I pushed too hard when he gagged, but it was alright. He steadied himself against my thighs while I leaned back contently.
Watching this handsome fella made me feel so good that I ran a hand through his nicely done hair. He really made sure to groom himself. Everything sat perfectly; that's why I wanted him so much.
"Thats alright. Good boy." I said—I loved when they said that in the videos.
And he reacted even better than expected: he groaned happily and his body shuddered. Such a good boy.
That's when I reached my limits. I pushed him further down as I shot my first load, then another, and another. I wanted him to take it all, and as expected, he didn't fight back.
As I was running dry, I released him, and he slowly, swaying back and forth, resumed his position.
He licked his lips; his eyes were foggy and unfocused, but his body was so excited.
"Good boy." I stroked his chest a few times and patted him. He smiled and leaned back as well.
For a second, I just sat there, thinking. "I should take him home." I thought so, but at first, I wanted to have some fun.
I encompassed his firm upper body again before I unbuttoned his jeans as well. His dick was tenting visibly, and I wanted to see it.
I pulled his enormous wet cock out of his underwear. I assumed he had a big dick, but it was even better than expected.
I moved my hand up and down his shaft, and he purred again while looking at me.
Drooling heavily, he stained his clothes already, but it wouldn't stop.
"Let's get home, body." I stroked him again before I turned the key, and the engine roared to life.
On my way back home, I used every opportunity to fondle with his stick—he even leaked again, much to my amusement.
He watched me the whole time, smiling derpily and drooling. I knew he liked it.
From time to time, Matt let out several long groans, his body shifting slightly. I knew he wanted to cum so badly, but something was holding him back.
Back at home, still inside the car, I turned and found him looking at me pleadingly, and my breath quickened again. One of his hands was resting on his thighs, and the other was firmly stroking his meat.
"Fuck." I moaned looking at this man, craving my touch so much. So I wrapped my hand around his massive cock and moved it rhythmically.
Matt whimpered, and he let out a few moans of pleasure. He was so close already that he shot one massive load, spreading his cum all over his clothes.
At this time, his eyes rolled back, and an even wider smile spread across his lips.
That was when I came into my pants again—it just looked so hot. Matt was mine now; I owned him.
I looked at the ring, still shimmering, and took several deep breaths. Then I remembered what the guy online told me to share.
I got Matt dressed back up and wanted to take a picture. But I had a better idea.
I lifted my boy's shirt back up and snatched a picture. I never felt better in my entire life.
I wonder what the guy's going to say to Matt.

Day 374
Another day slipping from my fingers. My breathing shallow as my eyes blinked slowly. Staring out my bedroom window as the rain trickled down the glass offering me a reflection of who I hated.
I’d like to think I’m numb to the feeling at this point, but everytime I hear his name, or see his face my chest physically hurts. Some sick and twisted part of me indulged in this feeling. I wanted to feel pain. I thrived off of it. I mean it makes us stronger in the end doesn’t it?
200 days pondering. I’ve spent 200 days trying to scoop my life together. When you’re left with no true explanation your mind tends to go overboard. Filling the cracks with reasons and excuses that you were never given.
He wasn’t mine, and I was so blind to it. Trying to fix someone who so badly didn’t care. Too blind by infatuation to see how he truly felt.
Day 180
“I just don’t understand why” I stated staring down at my empty cup
“You can’t sit here and try to figure out someone who was never even open to you fully in the first place” my friend said to me
“I mean I know, but why give me this false hope. Make it seem like you saw a future with me. When he didn’t” I said swallowing thickly
“It’s been 6 days, do not beat yourself up over it okay? You’re killing yourself trying to rack your brain looking for the whys?” She said caressing my arm
“ I reached out to him yesterday” I said sniffling
“And?” She asked looking at me with a soft smile
“He said he couldn’t see me this weekend, but maybe another time” I replied breaking down
“Please don’t cry okay, you’re going to be okay” she said pulling me and hugging me
Day 374
I got up from my chair and walked out to my living room. I inhaled a shaky breath as I looked around the dimly lit room. My eyes landed on my coffee table. I trembled at the sight of the Polaroids of us littered along the mahogany wood, the vase he got me with nothing in it, and the books he purchased for me.
I started to breathe heavily and my hands began to shake.
“I HATE YOU” I screamed, shoving everything off the table with my fists. Breaking down as I heard the glass shatter and the books tumble down
“I hate your stupid fuck boy hair cut, I hate your cold blue eyes, I hate your stupid dry skin and your cracked lips, I hate your ugly smile….I HATE YOU” I screamed the last part as I banged my fists on the table
Dry heaving from the panic attack I was putting myself through.
Day 1
My eyes browsed the pastry display as I waited in line. These all looked so good, and it was hard to pick just one, but finally my eyes landed on the last heart shaped cookie on the rack
“Next!” I heard someone yell out, my eyes darting their way
“Good morning” I said offering a smile
“Good morning! What can I get for you today” the older woman said smiling at me
“May I have a small hot latte, and the heart shaped cookie right there” I said pointing over to the glass
“Sure thing honey” she said ringing me up
After paying she turned around and began to make my latte while I waited.
As I waited I felt a presence next to me, so I looked over locking eyes with a pair of blue ones. I offered him a smile and he returned the favor
“One latte and one heart cookie” the woman said handing me my stuff
“Thank you” I said grabbing my stuff and smiling at her
“Have a good day” she said
“You too” I replied and began to walk away, nodding my head at the guy who was next to me
I left the cafe and walked to the bookstore down the road. I was browsing around when I decided to walk into the horror aisle
I was looking at some books, mindlessly walking sideways when I bumped into someone.
“Oh sorry” I said looking up, and meeting those same blue eyes
“You’re good” he said smiling at me
“I was walking while looking at the books” I said looking over at the shelves
“You’re heart shaped cookie girl” he said pointing at me
“That would be me” I said laughing
“Those are my favorite, and you got the last one” he said fake pouting
“Would you like it?” I asked him offering him the bag
“Oh no no, thank you though” he said with his hand on his chest
“So you like horror too?” I asked him
“Uhhh no” he said laughing at bit
“Well then I think you’re in the wrong aisle” I said giggling
“I actually don’t read” he said putting his hands in his pockets
“Then why are you at a bookstore?” I asked tilting my head
“Well I like to look at the covers, I’m more of a visual type of guy” he replied
“Ahhh makes sense” I said nodding my head
“But uh don’t let me stop you from looking” he said stepping away from the shelf
I nodded at him and began to look at some books. My eyes landed on a Stephen King book, and I grabbed it immediately
“I’m going to have a seat at those tables and read this book a bit, you can join if you’d like” I said looking over at the boy
“I wouldn’t want to infiltrate” he said back
“Oh no never, join me” I stated smiling at him
We sat at the table, and I took the cookie out of the bag breaking it in half.
“Have half” I said looking up at him
“No don’t worry” he said nodding at me
“Please I insist” I said handing him the cookie
Finally he obliged and began to eat it. We sat chatting for a while about random stuff. When suddenly my phone rang, and I realized I was late to meeting up with my friend
“Oh my god I’m so sorry, but I’m actually supposed to be somewhere right now and I’m totally late” I said scooting back from the chair
“Oh no worries” he said standing up as well
“It was nice talking to you…” I said looking at him
“Matthew, but I go by Matt” he said sticking his hand out
“Well Matt it was nice talking to you, I’m Y/N” I said shaking his hand
“It was great talking to you too” he said smiling at me
“Here let me give you my number. I’d like to talk again” I said nervously
“Yeah sure” he said taking his phone out
After we exchanged numbers I went on with my day
Day 5
Matt and I had met for dinner to catch up. I was enjoying my time with him. He was truly a cool person to hang around, and I slowly felt myself looking for him in my day to day interactions.
“So Matt what brings you to LA” I said looking up at him
“Well I just moved here with my brothers. We’re from Boston and we came here for our jobs” he said
“Ohhh nice what do you do?” I asked taking a sip of my drink
“Well we’re social media influencers” he said laughing a bit
“Oh that’s nice” I said smiling at him
He had shown me their pages and what they do, and I found it fascinating. They were also pretty famous might I add. I felt special hanging out with him, not going to lie.
“Do you have a girlfriend?” I asked him
“No” he replied
“Is it hard because you go between LA and Boston?” I asked
“No I just prefer to be alone” he said chuckling
“Ahhh I see” I said nodding my head
“I just don’t believe in the whole love and soulmate stuff” he replied
“No? How come” I asked him
“I mean what even is love you know? People just throw that word around, and it just ends up hurting people. I like to keep my peace and I like to be single. Less problems” he said
“That’s true” I said nodding my head
“Do you have a boyfriend?” He asked
“Oh no, but I do believe in love and soulmates. I just haven’t found mine” I said laughing
Matt nodded his head and we continued to eat. The rest of the night was amazing, sharing our philosophies on different topics and truly enjoying each others companies
Day 30
Matt and I had been hanging out pretty much everyday, and I truly enjoyed it. Of course I had my own friends, but he was a breath of fresh air.
The only other issue was that I began to have feelings towards him. I tried not to because I know he didn’t believe in love or girlfriends. But he made it hard when he was exactly what I looked for in a man
“You know I enjoy this a lot” he said as we sat on a bench eating ice cream
“Yeah? Me too” I said looking over at him
“It’s nice to just get out with you and have a good time I like it” he said eating his ice cream
“I like it too” I replied
“And I like you too” he said shrugging his shoulders
“I like you too Matt” I replied looking over at him again
That night Matt had walked me home since I wasn’t too far from the ice cream shop.
“Well this is me” I said pointing to the building
“Thank you for coming out tonight” he said
“Thank you for inviting me I had a blast” I said
“Well I’ll let you go now” he said opening his arms for a hug
I hugged Matt and in that moment I felt like my dreams were slowly becoming a reality.
When we pulled away we stopped and stared at one for a moment. Our eyes searched for an answer when suddenly he leaned down and kissed me.
Our lips locked in such a beautiful kiss.
That night when we parted ways my heart thumped with adrenaline. My mind racing with all the possibilities of what we could be.
Day 50
“This view is amazing” Matt said looking at the city line beneath us
“Isn’t it? I come up here when I want to think and clear my mind, but it’s just so beautiful I had to bring you” I said
“There’s not many people here” he replied looking around
“Well yeah, it’s a secret spot” I said smiling at him
“You took me to your secret spot? Am I that special?” He asked
“I guess so” I said biting my bottom lip
He came up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist as he leaned his head on my shoulder. Swaying us side to side slowly.
“When I want to clear my mind I got to this small beach that not many people know about in Boston. It’s actually a place I discovered when my first girlfriend broke up with me. I was so hurt and angry that I just kept driving and landed there” he said looking at the skyline
“I’ve never told anyone that” he whispered
My heart fluttered at this. Being able to break down his walls to get him to tell me more about himself made me warm inside. I think I was changing him….
“I thought you didn’t believe in love?” I said in a whisper
“Well after her I don’t. She completely destroyed me, and I vouched to never give my heart to anyone again” he replied looking at me
“And what about me?” I said laughing
“You’re different” he said tapping my chin with his thumb
Day 63
Matt and I had just had sex for the first time. I mean it was amazing he was so careful with me like I was a dainty feather. He took his time, caressing my every inch, kissing all my insecurities away. He made me feel loved.
My mind moved as we laid in his bed, the sheets keeping us tangled together. The sunlight kissing his skin as he laid on my chest lightly snoring.
His right hand gently placed on my torso as my right hand raked through his hair. Massaging his scalp and occasionally running down his back as the goosebumps rose on his skin.
A smile growing on my face as Matt laid in my arms. My mind playing all our possibilities repeatedly. Matt made me the happiest girl in the world, and I didn’t even know if he realized how special this made me feel
Day 97
My mind began to race as insecurities began to cloud my mind. We’ve been seeing each other for well over two months now, and I wasn’t sure what we were?
I paced around my living room as Matt sat on the couch watching me.
“Y/N what’s wrong?” He asked me, causing me to stop in my tracks
“What….what are we?” I asked looking at him
“What do you mean?” He asked
“I mean us Matt. Were sleeping together, going on dates sending each other gifts, but you haven’t said I was your girlfriend” I replied
“I liked you Y/N a lot, and who cares about labels okay? I want to be with you and that’s all” he said
“I guess…I guess you’re right” I said nodding at him
Day 132
I slammed the door behind me as I stomped into my kitchen throwing my stuff down. I grabbed a bottle of water and began to drink it
“What's the issue now?” Matt asked throwing his hands up in defense
“The issue? Matt some girl was practically throwing herself on you, and you didn’t do a single thing, but when I tell her to back off I’m the problem” I said walking over to him
“Well I can handle my own. I told her I wasn’t interested, and the way you acted was embarrassing” he said
“Matt this happens all the time, and I’m sorry if I embarrassed you, but I’ve had enough of this shit happening” I said shoving past him
“It’s not that serious okay” he said
“You know what? It is serious Matthew. I don’t get this whole casual thing. I want to be your girlfriend. You don’t take me on dates, buy me flowers and have sex with me and say you want this to be casual and just a friends with benefit type of thing. FRIENDS DONT DO THIS” I said raising my voice
“I don’t know what you expect from me. I’ve made this clear from the beginning” he said sighing
“Get out….JUST GET THE FUCK OUT” I yelled opening the front door
Matt left and I slammed the door behind him. Falling down and breaking down on the ground. Why was he being so cruel to me? I didn't get it.
Day 135
I hadn’t spoken to Matt in 3 days, and it was truly bothering me. I prayed he would call or, or show up at my door, but I was disappointed when I got nothing.
I paced my living room anxious and biting my nails contemplating if I should head over to Matt’s house.
After some more bantering with myself I opened my front door to walk out, when I saw Matt getting ready to knock on my door.
“I…what are you doing here?” I asked him
“I came here to say sorry” he said his head hung low
“It’s okay Matt. I just need you to tell me that we aren’t just friends” I said as I moved out the way to let him walk in
He slowly began to walk in without saying a word when I stopped him
“Please” I said in a whisper
“I can’t give you that because it’s not the truth. I’ve made it clear from the beginning I don’t do love. I’m sorry if this isn’t what you want” he said looking at me
Like an idiot I ignored his statement and let him into my house. I swore up and down I could change his mind and make him see that we were meant to be together.
Day 171
Matt and I went bowling which was his favorite thing to do, but the whole time it was like his mind was elsewhere.
“I got a strike babyyyy” I said doing a dance that he loved seeing me do
“Nice” he said offering me a half smile
“What’s wrong?” I asked sitting down next to him
“Nothings wrong” he said looking over at me
“I can tell by your demeanor, are you okay?” I asked again reading his face for an answer
“I’m just tired is all” he said
“We can leave, we can get something to eat or head back to my house” I said smiling at him
“I think…I think I’m going to call it a night” he said standing up
“Oh okay” I said also standing up
We closed our lane and headed outside. He waited for a Uber while my house was two blocks down.
“I’ll uh I’ll see you in a few days” he said nodding at me
“Umm yeah sure” I said bluntly
He kissed me on the cheek as his Uber pulled up. He got in without saying anything else, and didnt even look at me as it drove away.
I walked back home that night confused, hurt and angry. Why was he being this way with me?
Day 174
Matt had asked me to meet him at the cafe we first met around 12. I had gotten there around 12:05, and met him at a table in the back
“Hi” I said sitting down
“Hi” he said staring at me
“Sooo what’s up” I said getting nervous
“I think we should part ways” he said swallowing thickly
“What?” I said as my brows furrowed
“I mean we’re just not meant to be. We fight all the time now and I find no joy in what we do” he said blinking
“I mean couples fight all the time right? This is normal we just have to learn to talk it out” I said reaching out to grab his hand
“The thing is I don’t like who I force myself to be around you. What we had was great, but I’m not ready for a relationship and I can’t give you what you want” he stated
“But…but we can work this out. We can find a middle ground” I said fighting for my life
“No Y/N….we’re over” he stated
I looked at him and blinked. When I saw how serious he was I got up from the table and walked away.
I looked back and prayed he’d be lookin for me, but he wasn’t. He didn’t even care to watch me walk out of his life.
That day ruined me
Day 200
I laid in bed most days tossing and turning as the memories of us played in my mind. Haunted by these memories I often forced myself to sleep, or to cry. My wales so loud I couldn’t even hear my own thoughts
Day 43
“So how’s it going with Matt?” My friend asked
“Oh it’s going amazing! I’m head over heels for this guy, and I think we’re going to end up together” I told her
“Tell me more about him” she said as her eyes lit up
“Oh god I love his hair, the wavy brown locks, and I love his blue eyes I swear I could see a glimpse of us in them, and I love his skin how soft it is and how his cheeks flush when I compliment him, I love his lips they’re so plump and moisturized all the time and I love his smile. His teeth are gorgeous and his smile lights up any room he walks into” I said smiling like an idiot
“Oh god… you really are in love with him” she said laughing
“I guess so” I said laughing with her
Day 205
It was a bit over a month now since I last spoke to Matt. I mean I used to see him everywhere and it’s just like he disappeared off the face of the earth.
My chest physically hurts every single day. I was so stupid to think I could change him. He made it clear from the beginning that he didn’t want a girlfriend.
How stupid and blind could I be to think he’d want me. I mean no one ever wants me in the end.
I killed myself for a guy who didn’t care.
Day 387
Here I was finally stepping out of the house after a week of trapping myself away. There was a crafting fair in my area, and I really needed to get out and walk and smell the fresh air.
I stopped at a few booths and purchased some things. Trying my hardest not to purchase things that reminded me of Matt.
After the last booth I decided to have a seat at a small table as I watched children play in the street. A smile creeped on my face as I watched them.
So pure and innocent, and life has yet to screw them over. On how I’d pay to go back in time and be a kid again. As I continued to watch them my thoughts were interrupted
“Y/N?” I heard to the left of me
My brows furrowed and I turned my head looking over. My breath hitching in my throat.
“Matt?” I said confused
“How have you been?” He asked smiling at me and taking a seat
“Oh I’ve been good” I said offering him a smile
“That’s great. I haven’t seen you in so long. You look good” he said
“Thank you, i know it’s been a long time” I said laughing a bit
“What are you up to these days?” He asked me
“Uhh you know just working, reading and writing” I said
“Did you ever finish that book you started writing? It was…it was really good” he said
“Oh man I forgot about that book….Im not even sure where it is” I said
“You should look for it, and finish it. I’d love to read it” he said smiling at me
“Maybe one day” I said nodding at him
“How have you been?” I asked him
“Me? Oh I’ve been good just working with my brothers still can you believe we’re at 5 million subscribers” he said smiling
“Congrats you guys deserve it” I said
“Thank you….wow this is just amazing seeing you again” he said looking at me with soft eyes
“Yeah it is” I said swallowing thickly
He went to speak when a girl appeared behind him
“Oh there you are Matt” she said walking over to him
“Oh hi” he said standing up
“Uhh Crystal this is Y/N, and Y/N this is Crystal my girlfriend” he said
“Nice to meet you” I said, shaking her hand. My stomach twisting into knots
“It’s so nice to finally meet you. Matt has told me so much about you. He says he’s learned a lot about life from you” she said
“That’s great to hear” I said glancing over at Matt
“Well um I don’t want to keep you, it was great seeing you” Matt said
“Ditto” I said
With that they gave me one last glance and walked away.
My mind wrapped around the word ‘girlfriend’……I wasn’t even sure how to feel truly.
Day 426
I had driven up to the hilltop I always went to when I needed to think. After splitting with Matt I refused to come up here. The memories paining me too much.
I was ready to start fresh, and let go of the past. I wanted to be released of Matt’s shackles, and I needed to start somewhere. So the hilltop was the first thing that came to mind.
I watched the busy street bustle beneath me as I let my mind race freely. Coming to the realization that love and soulmates were all bullshit.
Lies fed to us through books, music and movies. It’s a nice thought, but in the end it doesn’t really work out.
I couldn't be angry at anyone. I mean this is just the fact of life.
I let a smile creep on my face as I sniffled. Finding peace of mind was something I looked forward to and I had to take it day by day.
I let the wind rustle through my hair as I watched the trees sway and the golden sun kiss my skin. Life was beautiful and I was taking it for granted.
“Y/N” I suddenly heard from behind me
I quickly turned around and met eyes with Matt
“Matthew” I said giving him a weak smile
“Strange finding you here” he said walking over to me
“This is my secret place” I said batting my tears away
“I suppose that’s true” he replied laughing and sitting next to me
“Congrats on uhh the girlfriend” I said looking at the skyline
“Don’t say it unless you mean it” he said bumping his shoulder into mine
“Well then in that case my lips are sealed” I said
He let out a breath of air and looked at the skyline
“So uhh are you okay?” He asked after a moment of silence
“I will be” I said kicking the gravel around
“You know it sucks realizing everything you believe in is false” I said wiping my nose
“What do you mean?” He asked looking over at me
“You know soulmates and love and all that shit, you were right” I said looking over at him
“No” he said shaking his head
“Yes don’t look at me like that” I said rolling my eyes
“It was meant to be with Crystal and I. I mean if I never stopped her to tell her she dropped her bag…we wouldn’t be where we are now. And the whole time I would think you were right” he said
“No you didn’t” I said laughing
“Yes! Yes I did” he said laughing too
“It’s just….its just me you weren’t right about, and I’m sorry I couldn’t be the one for you” he said looking at me as he blinked a few tears away
I looked at him and let a few tears fall. Someone I thought was truly mine…but he was not mine. I was the person who paved the way for him to find who he truly needed in life
“You never wanted to be my boyfriend, but here you are” I said nodding my head
“I know, but it just happened” he said
“I don’t understand…I don’t understand how it just happened” I said shaking my head
“I just woke up one day and I knew….I knew that she was who I could spend the rest of my life with” he replied wiping his eye
“Knew what?” I said as my voice got shaky
“Knew what I was never sure of with you” he said looking at me
Those words pained me….they did, but I couldn’t be mad at him. I can not hate someone who doesn’t want me, it's not their fault.
Day 78
“Matt how do you know believe in love I don’t get it” I said laughing as I played with his hair
“It’s simple, I just don’t. What does it even mean? I say this all the time” he said laughing
“How do you know you’re not in love is the real question” I replied back
“Well how would I know?” He said running his hands up my thigh as he laid on my stomach
“I don’t know…..you just wake up one day and you just know” I replied back
To this he stood quiet, and it made me wonder if he was falling in love with me
Day 426
“Yeah” I said ina whisper
Matt pulled me in for a hug and rubbed my back. A hug I so badly needed and I gripped onto him letting a few more tears slip from my eyes. I thought what we had was real, and it wasn’t. And this would be the last time I would really feel Matt
He pulled away and looked into my eyes smiling at me
“I should go, but I’m really happy to see that you’re doing good” he said standing up and walking away
“Matt” I called out and he turned around
“I really do hope that you’re happy” I said standing up
He looked at me for a few seconds licking his lips and flashing a toothy smile at me. Nodding his head and whispering a thank you.
He turned back around and walked away.
I sat back down on the bench running my hands through my hair as I let the tears fall.
This…this is where I would be leaving any memory and may hope of Matt. He would stay here on this hilltop overlooking LA.
Day 574
Dear Diary,
It’s been 400 days since I parted ways with Matt. It’s been over a year and I can finally say that I am happy and okay. The very last conversation with Matt was hard, but it was needed.
I needed him to let me go, so that I could let him go. He helped me understand it all, and for that I’m thankful. He cleared a path for me that would make it easier for me to go on with life.
Although I spent many nights praying that he and I were meant for each other deep down I’m glad that we weren’t. I’m glad he was in my life when he was because who knows who I would be right now. I’m forever grateful he was put into my life to show me the beauty and the pain of it all.
I still have love for Matt, but in a different way than most would think. He helped me find peace of mind, and although it was painful and agonizing torture I’m glad I went through it.
He showed me that there’s much more in life and even though he was not mine I could push forward with myself. He opened my eyes to a lot of things, and I’m grateful for it. He’s doing well with his girlfriend, and I couldn’t be more happy for him. I sometimes find myself wondering what that would be like if it was him and I, but I try not to think about it.
He’s helped me be a better me. I finished my book finally and had it published. It’s actually doing really well, and even showed his support. Saying even though he doesn’t read he finds himself going back to my pages and re reading them. He really is the best thing that has happened to me.
Even though he didn’t make it to the end of my story I’m still grateful he was a part of the chapters. And I will always be grateful to be a part of his story, watching from the sidelines as one of his cheerleaders.
He deserves it all!
So with that diary I am finally closing this chapter of my life, and beginning a new one. Manifesting the life that I have always wanted for myself and happy where I’m heading.
This is the last page of this diary, and it’s such a bittersweet ending to end this right here and wonder if it’ll continue on a new page in a fresh book…..I guess time will tell, and with that I’m off to new ventures!
Sincerely,
Y/N
I shut my book and closed my pen. Rolling my shoulders as I looked out the cafe window. Smiling at the young children playing in the streets….the beauty of life!
I finished my coffee and threw it in the trash. Stretching and cracking my neck as I gathered my journal and pen. I began to walk away
“Excuse me miss” I heard from behind me
“Uh yes” I said turning around
“You left your bag” he said walking over to me with it
“Oh shoot! My minds all over the place” I said shaking my head and grabbing my bag from him
“Oh man I get that!” He said laughing
“Well thank you….” I said waiting for his name
“Oh Samuel! But I go by Sam” he said sticking his hand out for me to shake
A chill ran up my spine….i've come full circle again
“Well thank you Sam, I’m Y/N” I said shaking his hand
“You’re welcome Y/N” he said smiling at me
“I’ll see you around” I said nodding at him
“Yeah I’ll see you around” he said moving his glasses up with his right hand
My eyes immediately darted to the book in his hand….
The same Stephen King book I picked up when I met Matt.
What a small world….
The End

Songbirds: When soulmates can hear each others music.
It had always been a bit of a sore wound for Steve growing up, the lack of music in his head. It concerned him and tore him up inside whenever the conversation was brought up, which it so often was.
His mother asked him about it everyday, excitement sparking in her eyes whenever Steve lied and said he heard a song. She would make sure to put it in the record player if they owned the vinyl, if not she would turn up the radio whenever it played. She always smiled and giggled at him, it gutted Steve to know he was lying to her.
The doctor always said that soulmates often try to communicate through music, and tried to work with him to recognize a message, but Steve did not need it since he knew the person didn’t exist.
He didn’t have a soulmate. The thought crushed him.
Bucky often joked about it when Steve finally came clean, saying that his soulmate was probably deaf and that Steve had to have one. This made him feel a little better and a new image emerged, maybe if they were deaf the only way they can listen to music was through him.
How could he deny his soulmate the taste of music?
So he listened to anything and everything he could.
He wore down vinyl after vinyl and when he wasn’t blaring the music he was humming it until he fell asleep.
He hummed to himself before he lost Bucky, he hummed to himself the day the ship he was flying crashed.
“If you’re real or you’re out there then I am so sorry for this.” He whispers, right as a loud crash sounds out and he is submerged within the depths of the water.
He would not be found for another 70 years, it would take 60 hours to dethaw him properly and stabilize his vitals. He would be asleep for another 6 days after that as doctors and nurses poured over his file over and over and over.
But that wasn’t the weirdest thing, no. The weirdest thing happened the day a nurse ran through the halls, her face red and splotchy as she summoned the doctor who followed closely. She tried explaining as much as she could as the doctor read through his file once more.
“This doesn’t make sense… it says he had a soulmate. He had confirmed it years ago.” The doctor mutters, reading the paragraph again.
“Tests were different then, right. They weren’t as advanced as ours.” The nurse tries, moving closer to the man unfrozen.
“I don’t get how this is possible….” The doctor mutters one more time as he blinks at the soldier.
Because Steve Rogers, still asleep from his time in the ice, was humming the tune to a song that had come out that very year.
(It’s 2012. I was imagining want u back by cher Lloyd but your music your choice birdies).
Growing up without any sound in your head while other kids were constantly bragging about theirs made you a bit angry growing up. The song time that your schools enforced, that you knew would never be sent to anyone else out there and made you grind your teeth in anger.
The tests you submitted to monthly, as everyone did, always just made it worse. When they put the metal sticks on your forehead, typing away at their computer as the sound waves to your brain showed up on the screen. They would play music on your end to make sure that it was working, your side always lighting up a light blue color flowers blooming and spreading across the screen. Well they looked like flowers but you knew they weren’t.
But when they turned off the music and did the ringing sound to try and signal your soulmate to answer back nothing came. Not a single thing came.
The screen always remained blank. Each. Time.
You learned to get used to it growing up, at some point the pain and anger ebbed into a phantom limb and you learned to move past. When your friends all found their mates you smiled and attended their weddings, always clapping when they danced to their first song that they found eachother with and sometimes if you were a little too into the drinks you let yourself imagine a life of your own. If you would have a deep song that you could slow dance to on your special night.
But when reality came crashing down it was right back to misery and you always hated the sickening feeling of realization so you tried to fight off those little daydreams. The ups were not worth the downs.
You listened to your own music, branched into hundreds of different genres and played the music so loud you could ignore the rest of the world.
But you were still subjected to the tests, every single month.
Like right now, with the metal readers strapped to your forehead as you sat back in the chair trying not to get agitated by the doctors pitying glance.
“It is good to see you again dear.” He smiles, sliding his stool over to his computer and typing something in. “I look forward to your fun jokes every month.”
“You mean my sarcastic wit that my mother says protects my feelings?” You bite out with a roll of your eyes, looking around the room.
“Ah. Yes. That.” He chuckles. “Alright, you know the process. We’re going to play some music on your end, to make sure the system is working. Then we’ll play the ringing at a frequency to try and rouse your soulmate into playing something back.”
“Just do it.” You snap, letting him press play on the music and turning to see the blue engulf the screen just as it always does. Then it stops and he plays a ringing, it makes your ears hurt as you close your eyes.
Even when he turns it off you can still hear them, like a fire alarm.
But once again. Nothing.
“Alright. Thank you for coming in today. It was wonderful to see you.” Your doctor smiles, and you leave once again feeling that dreaded disappointment.
But you don’t let it get to you, instead you head home and blast the loudest song you can when you make dinner in attempt to ignore the emptiness in your mind.
Maybe if you had kept the music down you might have heard the smallest humming in the back of your mind, an old tune answering the ringing.
A week after they first hear humming they decide they would do the updated soulmate test on the captain with dozens of people that were alive back then strapped to their own testing machines to see if any answered back.
“Alright. It’s all set up. Let’s take a step back and read the vitals.” Doctor Chen orders, making everyone step back as she heads to her computer. After typing a couple codes his brain waves fill the screen, and a moment later she starts playing music to make sure it works.
Blue clouds fill the screen, blossoming quickly at the sound before she shuts the music down, and then a second later ringing sounds and his brain waves crash in displeasure, sliding down and a black filling the screen as they watch slowly.
“Good reaction time for someone who had been frozen last week.” She murmurs which makes he nurse next to her laugh, but then after a moment it happens.
The screen that had gone blank at the silence blossoms with blues and greens as whoever is on the other end plays him something back, everyone staring slack jawed at the screen.
“Holy shit.” Someone murmurs.
“His soulmate is still alive.” Chen smiles, watching the screen.
It happened during work, while you were sorting through files needed for the next meeting, Stark tower empty in this section. It would fill up soon, officials and your bosses would file in within the next 30 minutes and you would be thrown into the chaos of the day.
So for now you were excited for the quiet of the building, breathing in as you set of the conference room with the correct lighting, water, pens and -
The music was so faint you almost didn’t hear it, like a staticky connection that was close to breaking at the slightest notch. You drop everything you had been holding and nearly fall to the ground on shaky knees. Your breath falling into ragged pants.
It takes a moment then it’s gone and you try to relax. It was just you. You’re tricking yourself.
And so you pick yourself up, shaky hands and shaky knees as you wipe the tears that had somehow began falling, moving to pick up your mess before the ringing began and you fall once more.
It’s the first time you had ever heard the ringing from their end and it hurt even more than you would have thought.
It travels down your spine as it traps itself in your head, ringing and ringing and ringing.
“Oh my god are you okay?” Someone calls, hands on your shoulders dragging your attention to the other assistant that worked alongside you.
“Ringing.” You gasp, hands clenched into fists as it finally stops, black spots filling your vision. “It’s so loud.”
“Yeah. It’s uncomfortable on the other end…. Have you never heard it before?” She laughs, moving to grab your phone, her face blanching when you shake your head. “Oh my god. You’ve never heard the ringing! That’s insane!”
You’re confused when she hands you the phone, giving her an incredulous look before she explains. “You have to play music back. The ringing is a call.”
“Right,” you nod, shaking as you grab your phone and pulling it close to pick a song, pressing anything random just to get it over with. You were too confused to process anything. You had never heard this, why now? How old was your soulmate? Oh my god was your soulmate super young? Were you a nasty cougar?
You were gonna vomit.
“I’m sorry, did you play Bee Gees back?” She laughs and you can’t stop a laugh from tearing from your own throat.
Good luck to whoever was on the other end of that.
It was a one off, something you couldn’t explain.
The doctors didn’t know how to explain it either, no one knew what to say about it.
They all gave you pitying glances and odd looks that just made you hate it so much more. You hated the fact that it happened in the first place.
A branch of hope on a dead tree, it didn’t belong there and you were desperate to tear it down.
So, as punishment for yourself, you stopped listening to music entirely. Your headphones stayed on your desk collecting dust and your office at work played no music at all. You refused it.
“Have you heard the new album?” Your friend calls out from her kitchen, you sat glumly on her couch clutching a glass of wine tightly in annoyance.
“No. You already know I’m not-“
“Listening to music blah blah blah.” She laughs, carrying in a tray of food. “That’s so silly. Come on. You love this band and what happened was weird. But it hasn’t happened since. You’ve heard no other music. Just give in and listen to something.”
“No. Stop pressuring me.”  You snap back, shaking your head.
That night when you went to bed you grew more and more frustrated by the old music playing through your head, staticky and driving you nuts. After all this time you were finally going crazy.
You stressed about a soulmate so much that you couldn’t help it.
Steve couldn’t hear the music and it was killing him. He could barely register his own limbs, his body cold and numb, itching to move his fingers. He just wanted to hear the voice that started waking him up in the first place.
The wonderful, alluring voice, he was desperate for them to sing again. Hum. Anything.
Give me something. Anything. Please.
His fingers prick, the needle feeling passing through him as he tries his hardest to move them. Please please please please.
“His vitals are peaking. He might be waking up.” A voice whispers. “Let’s get the room ready.”
Please sing. Or hum. Or play something. Give me a reason to wake up. Please.
Before he knows it there is a radio playing on his side, a game by the sounds of it, and he can’t seem to open his eyes.
Then, louder than it normally was without the static sound, he hears the music in his mind. A soft violin sound, followed by a piano. It takes him a second to recognize the nutcracker, a smile breaking out as he did his best to open his eyes. For the person on the other end he would do this.
His soulmate. He would wake up for his soulmate.
-
“You can try to send messages.” Doctor Payne smiles, an actual excited smile for you. “Through the music. How long have you been hearing music now?”
“3 weeks.” You answer, nodding numbly. “And it’s like full now, if that makes sense. It’s not staticky. I can actually hear it now.”
“What have they been playing?”
“Old music. Really old music.” You smile. “I’m hoping to god it’s not a kid. The older music is a good sign right?”
You were back for your monthly visit, but this time you were excited.
“Okay. Do you recognize any of the songs?”
“Some. Not enough to get a message from it.”
“Okay. Let’s see.” He moves to type in the codes and your brain waves fill the screen. This time you chose the music, something old, and you get a little nervous.
“D-do we have to do the ringing? It’s louder on their end.” You mumble, body heating. “It hurts.”
“It was your first time experiencing it. That probably made it worse.”
“Yeah; but what about them? Won’t it hurt them as well?”
“Let’s see.” He smiles softly, the music stops. One breath, followed by another, and then the ringing starts and you close your eyes feeling a little guilty.
When it stops it’s silent, and you wait with shaky hands. And just when you think you’ve gone nuts and imagined it all, getting ready to bolt before Dr. Payne sends you to the loony bin.
But the sounds of the nutcracker start playing, and a wide smile spreads across your face.
The very song that you had played a while ago, the first song you listened to after your self inflicted punishment.
“I hear it.” You smile, and your doctor laughs.
“I can tell.” It’s then you look at the screen, seeing a mix of colors blooming along with the blue. Joy sparking in your chest at the new world.
-
He had rooms in the tower, and a tutor to try and teach him all the updated tech. But the furthest he could get was a flip phone, and that already confused him enough, but he has a radio that plays all the classics for him.
And he had whoever is on the other end of his mind, giving him enough music to listen to while he works out in the gym.
Right now, his wonderful soulmate, was playing something he didn’t recognize but didn’t mind. His blood thrumming as he fixed his leather jacket while trying to figure out his way through the halls.
“Dr. Chen!” He calls when he sees her, making the woman stare at him with wide eyes. “I was told you had done my soulmate testing? You were searching or something?”
He tried to maintain eye contact and be as respectful as he could, but all he could do was nod his head to the music and tap his hand as Dr. Chen smiles smugly at him.
“They playing music right now?” She asks, nodding her head for him to follow her as she makes her way through the halls. “What are they playing?”
“S-something about… living on a prayer?” He smiles, following her into her office as she turns back with a wave of recognition. “You know it?”
“Bon Jovi.” She nods, searching on her computer before turning to him. “The results from the nursing homes came back inconclusive. We tried reaching out to other clinics to see if anyone answered the call. They usually report it to their own doctors for a chance to narrow down the search so whoever you called definitely did not know what to do.”
A wave of guilt fills him at that, making him fidget a bit in his seat as the song changes to another upbeat song.
“Due to the progression of the music we do believe that you are connected to someone in their 20s to 30s.” A breath of relief falls from his lips that makes him feel even worse. He was just happy that his soulmate wasn’t waiting for him for 70 years. “The Taylor swift and Motley Crue mix clued us in on that one.”
“Who?”
“And the nickel back. There is no grandma out there listening to nickel back.” She laughs are her own joke, stopping short when she realizes he’s not laughing.
“Should I be listening to them? Who are they? Is it one person? Nickel?” He rushes out, feeling a little nervous. “Do you think they hate my old style music?”
“I have no idea on that one.” She laughs. “Take a breath. It will all be fine.”
He goes to ask another question before a ringing breaks his concentration, his eyes drifting to the phone on her desk. She rushes to pick it up, mumbling out a response before hanging up.
“They are sending someone down with some papers, but you can ask questions before she gets here.”
“That would be great. What is Nickelback?”
You had been playing music in your office all day, with no response from your soulmate unfortunately. That didn’t matter though, because you were still high and giddy at the fact that you had a soulmate.
But your little concert in your office was cut short when you were sent to hand off ‘top secret’ files to Dr. Chen. You found that everything in this place was top secret.
Right now everyone was freaking out over some science project that you had heard a couple whispers about. Something with ice and a man. Not much to figure out but it’s not like you cared.
You got this job by minding your own business.
And what did it matter anyways? You have a soulmate.
The halls to Stark tower were easy to navigate, and you still were so out of it that you got a little lost towards the end before you found her office, knocking lightly.
“Come in.” She answers and you swing the door, surprised to see a blonde haired man turning to you with big eyes.
The blue of them makes you stop short, a blush crossing your body as you blink before a wave of guilt crashes over you. You had a soulmate and you’re here ogling at this guy?
Come on.
“Sorry to interrupt. You requested these?” You look away, turning to her instead and passing over the files. “Have a good one.”
“Wait! Mr. Rogers here needs to go to the main levels but he might need help getting there. Think you can show him?”
“No problem.” You shrug, nodding at him without making eye contact and waiting for him to get up before leading the way.
Steve follows you through the halls after you introduce yourself, feeling a little guilty at the blush that crosses him when you look at him.
He had been so upset about not having a soulmate for the longest time, and now that he does he is getting flustered over the first beautiful gal he sees? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
“So you’re new here?” You ask after a moment of silence, pulling your badge out to get clearance for the elevator.
“Relatively.” He responds, trying not to make eye contact and keeping his voice short. He could not waste time flirting with everyone else when he had a soulmate out there.
“Right.” You mumble, obviously a little put off by the shortness in his tone as the elevator opens and you are both enveloped in with the weird music.
He wonders if his soulmate could hear it, feeling a little silly that they might think he was actually listening to this as you fiddle with your badge awkwardly.
After a moment he breaks the silence, pointing to the speaker. “You think your soulmate hears this music?”
Your eyes light up instantly, and you stand a little straighter. “Maybe. I hope they respond if they can. I love hearing their music back.”
“Me too.” He agrees, feeling something loosen in his chest at the mention of soulmates. “I can only hope they like my music too.”
“I’m sure they do. I’m always so desperate to hear them that I never really care about the music itself more of the fact that it’s playing.” You respond, nodding a bit when the elevator rings. “This is your stop,”
He thanks you, moving to leave quickly. But the further his steps make from you he still hears the elevator music playing, confusion lacing him as his soulmates humming begins to the same elevator tune.
He turns, down the hall, watching as the doors close with you humming inside. Recognition and sparks fly through him as he tries calling out, dashing to the door but it was too late and they were already closed. He tried to press the buttons but without an access badge it was useless.
And in his lame attempt of morality he completely missed your name.
Just his luck.
“You cannot be serious,” you laugh, rubbing your head in frustration as you try to sleep in a little longer. But it was no use, your soulmate was on a mission.
For the past 3 days over the weekend all that had been playing in your head was elevator music, over and over and over.
You assumed that whoever was on the other end took meal breaks because you got at least an hour each day of silence before they were back to it, the sound of it beginning to grate at your nerves. What had you done to deserve this abuse? This was truly incomprehensible.
Anger fills you as you launch from bed, stressed from the lack of sleep and snatch your headphones, digging through your playlist until you find the heaviest rock music you can. Two can play that game soulmate.
-
“Oh, good morning Mr. Rogers.” Dr. Chen smiles, her eyes bright with shock as she takes in his appearance. This reaction didn’t surprise him, it was the way everyone had been reacting as more and more people found out that Captain America was living in the building.
But this reaction from Dr. Chen was a bit odd considering she knew him by now. “I’m a bit shocked that you are up this early.”
“I usually spend time in the gym.” He rushes out, shrugging. “Can’t shake the military time- hey that person that dropped off the file the other day? Do you remember her- oh my.”
Before he can finish his sentence loud music blasts in his ears, making him cringe a bit. “Oh.”
“Are you okay?” She asks, reaching out to touch his shoulder.
“Yeah. Just my soulmate playing music I’ve never heard. But enough about that, that girl that came in with the files? You know her?”
“Yes! She’s worked here for awhile. Very nice. You liked her?”
“Well I think she’s my soulmate.” He blushes before launching into the tale.
She looks shocked and like she’s fighting off laughter when he stops. “You’ve been standing in the elevator all weekend? Listening to this music?”
“Yes?”
She laughs loudly before pulling him out of the elevator and walking him to her office. “I can guarantee you are about to have a very cranky soulmate.”
You were aggravated, thoroughly aggravated. At least the elevator music stopped but you had gotten no sleep.
So as you marched to your office just to see multiple messages requesting you to Chens office immediately and you groan loudly, snatching the headphones out of your ears.
Something had to have gone wrong with those files, and you were in no mood to get into trouble over it. Whatever stupid science project they had was beginning to grate on everyone and they were getting angry about it. You can pick up the tension easily.
Your pass allows access to the halls, spine tense as you make your way to her office, knocking lightly before it opens and you see her and the man from the other day standing awkwardly.
“Thank you for coming. It seems we’ve had a change of… situation.” She smiles before his hand shoots out to you and both of you jump back at the force of it.
“Sorry. Sorry. I’m Steve.” He blushes, easing himself a bit and relaxing his hand for you to shake once more.
“Rogers…. Your name is Steve Rogers.” You laugh. “How many times do you get asked about Captain America?”
He blinks at you and Chen snorts.
“I actually kind of know a Steven Grant. I haven’t met him in person but he works at a museum that we contact a lot and he’s actually so sweet.” You hush before stopping when you realize they are both staring at you. “Off topic. What’d you call me down here for?”
“I think I’m your soulmate.” He blurts.
“And this is actually Captain America.”
Holy. Shit.
For lack of better words you scram.
After years of begging the universe for a soulmate when you finally come face to face with the possibility of meeting your soulmate, what more was there to do but run?
Steve Rogers. Steve Rogers thought he was your soulmate.
You had so many questions. You had no clue where to run, so you stop short and turn back quickly, dashing back down the hall to run back to the office and you somehow run into him chest to chest sending you sprawling back on the ground.
“Jesus! You brick wall!” You shriek, standing up quickly as he blinks at you with his own panicked look.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t expect you to run back!” He rushes out, hands shooting out grab your shoulders in an effort to stabilize you. “I… I have so many questions.”
“Me too.” You blink, a moment of silence passing before you both blurt out a question at the same time.
“What was with the elevator music?”
“What music were you blasting this morning?”
-
“Nope. No.” Steve calls from somewhere else in the house, pulling your attention to the stairs and waiting to hear him rush for you.
Three years of marriage and you were still finding music he hated, right now that ended up being Cardi B.
You hear his feet on the steps and wait patiently until he comes into the door with a scowl. “Why do you do this?”
His eyebrows are pulled together in frustration as he shuffles closer to turn off the radio, looking around the room in his normal attempt to make sure everything is all safe. Just as he always had, checking every window and exit as a precaution before coming up to you and wrapping his arms around your waist and picking you up to kiss your lips.
“I liked that song.” You muffle against his lips, smiling cheekily which makes him sigh and pull back from the kiss.
“I could have gone my whole life without knowing what WAP was.” He groans, setting you down with a quick kiss on your forehead before moving to your computer to change the song. You watch closely, moving closer to his desk as he glares down at yours, typing slowly before he hums at his choice.
Even the smallest hum still sounds out in your mind, sending shivers down your spine before the sounds of cheesy elevator music sound out making you laugh.
“No! Please no!” You call, rolling your eyes as he dances closer until he gets to you and lifts you onto his desk so he can slot himself between your thighs.
“It was a great plan!”
“No it wasn’t!”
“I hoped you could recognize the music! I didn’t know your name and I had no access to the building!” He blushes. “I had to beg someone to let me onto the elevator every morning just to do it.”
“You know how long I heard people whispering about you before I actually met you.” You laugh, rubbing at his shoulders. “Now I love you, but if I have to hear one more track of elevator music I will burn this building down.”
He laughs, leaning to kiss you deeply before turning off the music and hauling you to your shared room.
After so many years of waiting for your soulmate it all ended up being with it in the end.

Can you imagine the idea of Sushi in Salvage, she latches onto Zuko when he falls over board and then the SWT finds both Zuko and this random cursed cat thing, now Hakoda has to deal w a feral teen AND said teens cryptid horror of a cat
“WHAT IS THAT?” asks Sokka, moments after stepping foot on the ship.
“That,” winces the chief, his father, the traitorous Zuko-adopter, “is--”
---
“What,” Bato says, as he’s distracted from the Fire Prince aboard their wooden ship by the tentacles writhing out of the glaring teenager’s shirt collar.
Hakoda, his best friend, the competent idiot Bato clearly left alone for too long, drags a hand down down his face. “That’s--”
---
On the second day, General Fong’s representative refuses to step foot aboard Hakoda’s ship for negotiations. In light of yesterday, Hakoda finds that fair.
“To be clear,” the man says, “we are only negotiating for the prince. Not his... pet.”
“...What will you give me to make sure it doesn’t follow?”
The man huffs. “Come now, Chief, I was only jesting.”
“It can swim,” Hakoda says. “As fast as our ship.”
Which, he does not have to point out, is faster than the ship in which the man is proposing to haul away their princely problem.
The man’s laughter is nervous, and not at all in jest.
---
“So,” Panuk says, leaning against the rail next to Hakoda with the casualness of a man living a spirit tale. One that doesn’t end well for the humans. “The thing can camouflage itself. Almost perfectly. And crawl across ceilings. Also, the prince is on some kind of hunger strike, though he’s fine with letting it eat.”
Across the deck, the prince was, indeed, glaring at the platter of food directly in front of him. The food that was... moving independent of any visible hands. And disappearing, into the air, with noises Hakoda was glad he could only vaguely hear from here.
---
“It’s medicinal,” said Healer Kustaa, his lips twitching under his beard.
Hakoda stared down at the young soldier he was supposed to hug. With only a non-dramatic sigh, he settled under the covers to do so.
Kustaa kept watching. So did Aake. Hakoda wrapped his arms around the ice cube of a boy, eyeing the two of them with all due distrust.
Eight arms rose from the tangle of blankets to hug him back.

“--Son of Ursa and Fire Lord Ozai. Kill me if you can, you cowards, but if you touch my cat I’ll kill you.”
“Your what?” Hakoda asked.
Which was when the thing emerged over their railing, dripping water and madness from its tenta-paws, flashing blue rings of deadly warning across its pelt. And plucked the sword right out of Aake’s hand, and dropped it into the prince’s waiting one, as if this were a practiced thing.
---
In the tumult after the prince went overboard, Sushi’s departure went unnoticed for hours.
In the coming days, weeks, months, this would be a great comfort to Iroh. Catopi were submersible in a way that nephews were not. Perhaps, just perhaps...
(Treason was a great comfort, as well.)

All my stars
Jason Todd x Reader
Summary: You take Jason to see the stars.
Info: Fluff, angst at the end. No gendered pronouns are used for Reader, so feel free to imagine whatever you want. 1.4k words.
Tumblr media
A gentle breeze makes its way across the property. Soon Jason will be pulled away for his nightly duties, but for now he lays here with you on a blanket on the lawn of Wayne Manor. Your head on his chest, his arm around you. Taking the time to say goodbye to the warm summer season with a picnic before it got too cold for them and classes ate up more time and energy than you’d like. For the day you had already said goodbye to the sun, left with the dark gray and blue mix you knew as the night sky here.
“We should go camping over spring break.” You say softly.
“We could go during a weekend.”
“We could,” You agree, “but I want more time out there.” Rolling over to your stomach, you have a look of softness that makes Jason’s breath stop for a second. “I want to show you the stars. You deserve to see them more than a weekend would give us.”
A warmth fills his own heart, and not for the first time, for a moment you are all Jason knows. You want to go out to the woods outside of the city to show Jason the stars. Something he hadn’t really thought of in a while. Something that didn’t exist here in the polluted city of Gotham. If he was honest, the thought of you just wanting to show Jason the stars because you know this makes him want to cry a little. “We can go camping over spring break. We should go.” There’s a million more words on his tongue but he’s not sure which ones to say, if any of them.
You smile and lean over, placing a kiss between his eyebrows, his eyes fluttering shut.
“I love you, Jason.”
“Love you too.” He says your name with your reverence, like you’re some kind of god. To him, you might be something like that, he thinks as your lips meet.
When Bruce is presented with the idea some months later, his eyebrows crease. “I’ll think about it.”
Jason refused to let up. You had made a joke that Bruce needed a powerpoint presentation or diagrams on large pads of paper to understand. Jason grinned.
Bruce got presented with a powerpoint. Alfred found the whole thing delightful and funny. Everyone knew Bruce did too, it could be seen in his eyes just a little. The butler added his own comment after Bruce spoke, making his allegiance clear.
“Perhaps, Master Bruce, you would also have some personal benefit from a little excursion in the forest. Take time away from your endeavors and from a distance you could keep an eye on the young master and lady while giving them privacy.”
That Bruce could agree to a little more, after a few weeks of Alfred and Jason, along with you once, bringing it up he gave in.
Once break rolls around Alfred sends all of you off with a soft, cheerful smile. Your hushed voices and laughter in the backseat bring a smile to Bruce’s face. Every so often Jason pokes his head into the front to talk directly to his dad. Though at one point he pulls out a book, The Outsiders, reading that. You spend most of that time with your head on his shoulder, a hand wrapped around his arm instead of his hand so that he could still flip pages and hold the book. Eventually you reach your destination. A small walk from the beaten path is a big enough clearing for you two and your activities.
Promising Bruce that you would yell if you needed anything and that yes, the two of you can put the tent up by yourselves and could make a fire. He checked everything one more time before allowing you to split from him. You’d meet back up for dinner together. For now you and Jason take up the task of putting up the tent.
Once you had successfully put up the slightly tilted tent you went to gather firewood, a task that mostly involved you and Jason running around chasing each other, your laughter ringing out in the forest and a quick little stick fight with two incredibly nice, sturdy sticks. Despite that you two quickly gathered decent sticks. By the time Bruce made his way back to your little area Jason already had a fire going. Dinner also meant that night would fall soon and the real reason you are out here could happen.
Long after s’mores and Bruce had left, the sun set, giving way to a gorgeous dark blue sky. You and Jason sit next to each other, tucked into each other’s side, as you watch that sky slowly fill with bright flecks of stars. A grin spreads across your face as you look up, a small gasp draws your attention to Jason. Beautiful, wonderful Jason with wide eyes full of wonder, mouth still stuck in that gasp. The stars are reflected within his eyes, it’s beautiful but your focus is still solely on Jason. There isn’t much you wouldn’t do for Jason to keep that look on his face, to keep feeling that feeling, to experience all the wonderful things he hadn’t yet known. He deserves to see the stars every night, to experience this every single day. You’d have to make every second here count, then find what else you could give to him that’d bring this wonder to him.
Jason ended up deciding to ditch the tent, pulling the sleeping bag out to lay it under the stars. “Thank you,” he whispers, holding you against him. “for taking me out here.”
“Thank you for coming. Maybe we can go up the mountain and look at the stars there.” The view from up there would be even better, something Jason deserved. You had no doubt they could handle such a hike to the nearby mountain and up it. How long you’d be up there is a different question though. Would you spend the night up there?
Jason’s voice pulls you from your thoughts. “The stars are beautiful, but they don’t compare to you.”
You smile and kiss him. “You’re not so bad yourself, handsome. Not bad at all.” Jason kisses you this time, murmuring poetry against your lips.
On the third night Jason grabs your hand, tugging you up. “Dance with me?”
“Of course.” You follow him, one hand in his, the other on his shoulder.
The forest provides its own music with the chirps and trills of the bugs, the rustle of the leaves, and if you really concentrate you could hear the nearby stream.
Jason starts humming as you sway together, pressed against one another. Softly, you join in. You don’t know how long you stayed there, wrapped up in each other as the forest sang. What you did know is that you didn’t want to be anywhere else. A part of you wanted to stay forever, but that wasn’t going to happen.
Under those stars you danced, laughed, and kissed Jason. They were your stage, your backdrop, creating so many sacred moments. Each and every night Jason was enraptured by them, and you by him. Eventually it had to come to an end, you had to go back to Gotham with its smog. You promised each other you would come and see the stars together again.
Death would shatter that promise weeks later as you screamed and cried when Bruce returned with Jason’s corpse, neither of you ever to see the stars again. You’re content to resign yourself to the smoggy gray skies of Gotham, with its artificial yellow and oranges, streaked with all other sorts of colors. The forest and its endless stars could be left with his memory and wonder, away from your glooming grief.
Yet, months later when Jason looks up at the sky with green eyes, he can’t help but to think that this sky is more worthy of your gaze, that you should be here looking out into this speckled canvas. Looking at the stars here Jason can’t help but think of you, who took him to see the stars because no one else had, because you wanted him to, because you thought he deserved it. Jason can’t help but to think even here you are still more beautiful than the stars. Jason can’t help but to think of you as he looks at the stars, after all to him you might as well have hung them.

BATTLE OF WITS.
Tumblr media
Sampo is an easy guy, albeit, a con-artist but a real hunk of work. If something doesn’t catch his eye within a second or stimulate his brain for more than a minute… You can say bye-bye to trying to talk to him.
Majority of people view the picture on the vacation postcard of “not-giving-a-shit” and fall in love with the idea — swimming through the clear blue waters in this mental Mediterranean sea can be more deceiving than many think. It’s a one-way ticket to losing the most important skill in life, to feel concern. He for one, couldn’t care in the slightest. It all goes to show as to why he took up the very interesting and controversial means of work in the first place.
But once he stumbled across a person completely opposite to him, he couldn’t help but feel even more irritated. Of course, it was you, with your logical and reasonable thoughts and actions. Your morals were way higher on the scale than his, and he definitely could assume your IQ and EQ followed suit. He never felt so ridiculed and threatened by your demeanour because of this aura of “coolness” and “rationality.” That was the issue, he was always the smart one— or the lack thereof. If both your brains jostled within the ring, his would be pummelled to smithereens.
He wanted to brush off this problem as per usual, forcing himself to play the “unbothered” role because his ego couldn’t handle it anymore (ahh yes, the “be the bigger person” card.) But if this were a choice between mind over matter, the latter would reign dominant. He needs to showcase his true skills, it was his only “skill” anyway.
“Hey,” Sampo called out to you while you fumbled through your satchel. You gave him a quick eyebrow raise in response.
“What’s seven times eight?” he blurted out, standing directly in front with his arms crossed over his puffed chest. Yeesh.
You, on the other hand, gave him an indescribable expression that probably amounted to confusion, irritation, and most likely concern. “What?”
“C’moonn… I don’t have all day!”
Rolling your eyes, you continued to fish out some papers from your bookbag and grumbled the answer. “Fifty-six.”
“— Riddle me this. Imagine you’re in a tough situation where your pal is crying over their partner who was absolutely shit to them. Do you, A, comfort them, B, make fun of them, or C… Listen and give advice.”
Now it was completely indescribable about what you’re feeling or thinking. You slowly looked up to meet his eyes with a blank stare. You were judging him hard.
“… A with a mix of C.”
“No, only one answer!” he protested, wagging his finger in the air.
“Then A.”
He dropped his hand and returned to the same arm-crossed position. “This isn’t fun.”
“You think you’re not having fun? This feels like an interrogation, Sampo,” you playfully snapped, closing your book bag. “The fuck was that about?”
A mere shrug was all he responded with. “Just wanted to… Figure some things out,” he vaguely responded, to which, prompted your irritation even more.
“Sampo—“
“Okay, okay! Just heard from a little bird that you’ve got a head on your shoulders,” he replied in defence. “Wanted to see if it was true or not.”
“Of course I have a head on my shoulders,” you reiterated, shaking your head in disbelief. “What? You mean like, smarter?”
Sampo nodded his head. “Precisely.”
His answer made you immediately chuckle, letting out a breathy laugh. “Shouldn’t this little questionnaire prove the point? Such dumb questions.”
“Hey! They made you think though!” he argued. “Putting you on the spot and such.”
“… Easy questions like that won’t put anyone on the spot.”
Sampo inched even closer as he let out a prideful scoff, flipping his floppy bangs back with calloused fingers. “Fine. I’ll prepare something harder then—“
“Nope,” you interrupted.
“One thing’s for certain, you are one hell of a party pooper,” he stated dejectedly, rolling his eyes as he straightened his posture. “Natasha mentioned you were smart n’ all, but how is that any good if that pretty little head of yours is full of brash comments and half-assed sarcasm.”
“Since when were you and Natasha friends?” you deadpanned, the same sarcastic tone dripping from your lips.
“We always were! Hey! Don’t give me that face!” Sampo responded but as soon as he was speaking, your figure was slowly walking away from him. You lazily waved a hand in the air without turning around.
You, 1. Sampo, 0. Try harder next time, big guy.

It was just another morning in Beacon Hills. You were driving to school like you always did, when you saw a familiar figure with a head of brown hair hurrying along the sidewalk.
Smiling, you pulled over and rolled down your window, calling Liam’s name. His head whipped in your direction, recognition dawning in his blue eyes when he saw that it was you trying to get his attention.
“Need a ride?” You offered, tilting your head at him. Liam hesitated, opening his mouth like he wanted to say something, but then closed it, nodding and hopping into the passenger seat. You made sure he was buckled before pulling back out onto the road.
“Thanks.” He said quietly, shifting his backpack on the floor between his feet.
“No problem.” You replied. “So, what’d you do last night?”
“What? Nothing.” Liam blurted. “I didn’t do anything last night. Just homework. Really boring, actually.”
If there was one thing you knew about Liam, it was that he was a god awful liar.
“Yeah? What class?” You played along, despite your growing suspicions.
“History.”
“Liam, you didn’t have any history homework last night. Mr. Yukimura was out sick, all of his classes had a sub.”
“Oh.”
“What did you really do last night?” You sighed, glancing over at him with a pointed look.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to say.” He muttered, hunkering down in his seat.
“You don’t think? Who told you to say that?” You asked incredulously as you pulled up to a red light, which gave you the opportunity to aim a glare over at the younger boy. He shifted uncomfortably under your pointed look. “Liam, I swear to god—”
“I went with Stiles to spy on Theo, okay?” He blurted. “He’s gonna be so mad at me, I wasn’t supposed to tell you that.”
Liam was with Stiles last night? That couldn’t be right. “No, Stiles told me he was having a movie night with his dad last night.”
“Well, he wasn’t. He dragged me out to the preserve for the whole night, and Theo didn’t even freaking do anything. I didn’t get home till after midnight, my stepdad was pissed.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. He grounded me for two weeks!”
“No, I meant you’re sure Stiles was with you?”
“Again, yeah, I’m sure.”
You pressed your lips into a thin line, because if Stiles had been with Liam last night, that meant he’d lied to you about missing movie night. And if he’d lied to you so effortlessly this time, what else had he lied to you about throughout your relationship?
“Uh, Y/N?” Liam’s hesitant voice drew you out of your thoughts. “The light’s green.”
Your eyes refocused on the road ahead to see that the light was in fact green, foot pressing down on the gas as you finished out your drive to school with Liam in awkward silence. As soon as you shifted into park, he was scrambling out of the car with a mumbled ‘thanks for the ride’ before hurrying off, presumably to get away from you as quickly as he could.
You on the other hand, remained frozen in the driver’s seat, mind running through every possible reason you could think of for why Stiles had lied to you. Stiles never lied to you. Your honesty with each other was one of your favorite things about your relationship with him—the fact that no matter what, you’d always tell each other the truth.
What had changed? Was it something you’d done?
You barely heard the first bell ring through your muddled thoughts, but you gathered yourself, grabbing your bag and heading inside.
Usually, you’d stop off at your locker to unload some books, but you remembered that Stiles always waited for you there so you could walk to your first class together. And right now, he was the one person that you definitely didn’t want to see. For sanity’s sake, you needed to avoid him the best you could until you sorted out how you were feeling about him lying to you.
So you beelined for chemistry, sitting in your usual seat and praying that some other student would come sit next to you so you wouldn’t have to face Stiles yet.
Your prayers were very much not answered when you spotted Stiles and Scott making their way into the classroom right as the bell rang again.
“Hey, babe!” Stiles chirped, sliding into the empty seat next to you. He leaned over to press a kiss to your cheek like he always did, but you turned your head, causing him to faceplant into your shoulder. “Uh…okay. Did you get my texts last night?”
You shifted your body away from him, busying yourself with rummaging through your bag for a pencil instead of answering him. Of course you got his texts, but now that you knew he was lying about what he was doing, his i love you and see you tomorrow, sweetheart texts just left a bitter taste in your mouth.
“Y/N?” Stiles’ voice held a tinge of concern now. “Is everything okay?” You ignored him still, looking straight ahead at the board as Ms. Finch started writing your lab for the day on the board. Stiles shared a confused look with Scott behind your back at your actions (or lack thereof).
“What’s wrong?” Scott mouthed, eyes flitting from your set jaw to Stiles’ bewildered gaze. Stiles merely shrugged. He opened his mouth to voice his confusion at your sudden aloofness, but Ms. Finch’s sharp voice had his eyes snapping to the front of the room.
“Listen up, you guys, today we’re going to be doing another lab, so I need everyone to find a lab partner or I will find one for you!” She announced, looking around the room of students before her. “You have two minutes to pick your partners, so go now and quickly.”
Fuck.
You and Stiles always paired up for labs, him claiming that it was your undeniable chemistry with each other that allowed you to earn top marks on them. And if this were any other day, your heart would do a little dance in your chest at his sweet words, but it wasn’t just any other day.
And maybe you were overreacting, but you didn’t really care right now. All you knew was that you didn’t want to work with him today.
You shot up from your chair as soon as you saw Stiles turn to you out of the corner of your eye, still avoiding eye contact with him as you made your way across the room and settled next to another student.
“Dude, what did you do?” Scott asked incredulously, sliding into your old seat next to Stiles.
“I don’t know!”
“Well, you obviously did something, or else Y/N wouldn’t be avoiding you like the plague.”
“You don’t think I know that?” Stiles huffed, frowning as he racked through his brain to try and figure out why you were— “Oh. I fucked up.”
“What happened?”
Stiles dragged a hand down his face, letting out a strangled groan. “I lied to her. Told her I was watching a movie with my dad last night, but I was really in the preserve staking out Theo.”
“How did she even find out?”
“I don’t—Liam. I bet he told her, that little shit! Control your Beta, dude!”
“How is this my fault?” Scott exclaimed. “You’re the one who lied to your girlfriend!”
Stiles was about to shoot back a sarcastic response (as usual), but was cut off when Ms. Finch started going over the lab instructions. Instead, he glanced over at you, taking note of your scowl and growing increasingly more guilty by the second.
He needed to fix this. Fast.
-------
Your attempts to avoid Stiles were successful until you were exchanging books at your locker afterschool.
You’d only made it this far by pure luck—spotting him a split second before he spotted you and taking a different route to class, stepping behind a taller student in the hallway, even so much as ducking into the bathroom when you saw him coming just so he would have to move on eventually.
It was safe to say that you were in quite the hurry, wanting to get your things and get home before he tried to corner you again.
“Y/N.” Stiles’ voice from right next to you made your jaw clench. You refused to look at him, instead passive aggressively (or really just aggressively) shoving a textbook into your backpack. “I know you’re ignoring me, and I deserve it, okay? I’m sorry for not telling you.”
Still silence from you. “Look, can we just talk about this instead of you being mad at me and icing me out?” You slammed your locker shut with a loud bang, fixing him to the spot with a glare before turning to walk away. Before you could get far, he grabbed your arm gently, turning you back to face him. “Babe, please—”
“You’re a liar, Stiles. We said we’d be honest with each other from the start, and I trusted you to keep your word, but you’re a fucking liar.” You snapped, wrenching your arm out of his grip. He opened his mouth to respond, but you shook your head. "I think I deserve the right to be mad at you for once.”
“I didn’t tell you because I was trying to protect you.”
“You’re kidding me, right?” You scoffed. “I’m part of the pack too, I don’t need you to protect me all the time, okay? I can take care of myself just fine.”
“I know that, baby, trust me, I do,” He sighed, dragging a hand through his already messy dark hair as he tried to figure out how to express his thoughts without sounding like a jackass. “I just—this is different than the shit we’ve dealt with in the past. It’s not that I don’t think you can handle yourself, because I know you can. I’ve seen you in action. But this…Theo’s different. I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m scared for us.”
“It’s okay to be scared, Stiles, nobody could face the stuff that we have and not be scared out of their fucking mind, but I thought we were a team. Finding out that you lied and went off on with Liam instead of me made me feel like you didn’t want my help anymore. That you’d found someone better and were gonna leave me in the dark from now on.”
Your anger had dissipated now that you knew Stiles wasn’t just ditching you for shits and giggles.
His expression softened instantly, and he took your hands in his, pressing soft kisses to your knuckles as he pulled you closer. “I would never ditch you for anyone else. Especially not Liam—god, do you know how much of a little shit that kid is?”
A giggle erupted out of your mouth at that, giving Stiles the courage he needed to tug you flush against his chest. With his lips pressed against your hair, he murmured out a promise he intended never to break ever again.
“I swear on my life that I won’t lie to you ever again, Y/N. I’m sorry.”
“You’re forgiven. Mostly.” You sighed, looping your arms around his neck and tilting your head up to look at him.
“Mostly?”
“You still owe me a movie night, Stilinski.”
“Oh, definitely,” Stiles let out a relieved laugh, smiling down at you. “Anything you want, sweetheart.”
“I was thinking we could have a romcom marathon?”
“Anything except that.” Your elbow jabbed into his ribs. “Ow, shit—no, I’d love that! So much.”
You smiled innocently. “That’s what I thought.”
“Of course.”
“Because you did say anything I wanted.”
“Did I? I don’t remember saying that.”

Listen (F!Reader Insert)
Tumblr media
A/N: When the movie trailer dropped, I knew there are many opportunities for angsty fan fiction, so I kind of took one. Some of the dialogue is canon, everything else is from my imagination. Anyway, getting the characters’ "character” was a challenge. I’ll appreciate any constructive criticism to improve it. Enjoy!
Summary: Casey Jones is trying to warn them of their future.
Pairing(s): Rise! Leo X Reader (Established Relationship)
Reader: Feminine pronouns are used. No actual appearance, only mentions.
Genre: Humor / Slight Angst
Warning(s): Rushed writing. Written before release. Mentioned character death.
Word Count: ~840
~
“So what’s your business with our friend, pal?”
Casey slowly opened his eyes, groaning through the headache. The world seemed upside-down, but judging from the ropes tying his body to a chair, he got the memo. So he was knocked out and taken into the underground subway station. The human boy grimaced; the stench reeked here.
In front of him stood four mutant turtles, in addition to the presence of a sewer rat and another human. “Master.. Leonardo?” Casey murmured as he recognized the blue eye-mask and red markings.
“Hey, did you hear that?” Mikey gasped. “He knows your name!”
Leon smirked. “And he added a nice ring to it, too.”
“So Blue does mature after all.” Splinter scratched his fur.
“Great,” Donnie rolled his eyes. “Thank you for inflating his ego.”
“Guys, come on now—,” Raph began.
“Shh. Give a minute, hermanos, I’ve got a plan.” Leon announced with confidence.
All the voices blurred. Casey glanced around groggily, only to realize there was one person missing from the group. “(Name).... Urgh…. Where’s.. where’s (Name)?”
The group quieted down.
“Oho, skipping the introductions, are we?” Leon narrowed his eyes. He stepped closer to the human boy. “You got something against her too? …I’d let it go if I were you,” he threatened.
“This is what happens when random people jump straight to asking about his girlfriend before doing introductions,” Donnie remarked. Casey panicked under Leon’s glare, especially once he saw Leon pull out his katana. “Hey, hey!” Casey shook fervently. “Hold on a minute! It’s not—.”
“My hermanos, what do you think we should do with him?” The turtle pointed with the tip of his blade.
“Ooh, ooh!” Mikey raised his hand. “Give him a nasty haircut!”
Raph thrusted his fist forward. “We could use a nice punching bag.”
“Or here’s a better idea,” Donnie pulled down his goggles, doing a quick analysis of Casey, “how about I alter his brain, so we can remote-control him?”
“Pfft. Think we’ve scared him enough, boys.” April clapped her hands, making them drop the act and fall into laughter. Raph was snickering in back, seeing Casey all pale and shaken up. “Oh man, that was good.”
“Okay, okay, okay.” Leon wiped a tear. “In all seriousness, who are you, ‘cause we need to call you something other than— I don’t know, human guy?”
“...The name’s Casey Jones—.”
“Hold up, Jones as in Cassandra Jones? Never knew she has a brother,” April asked.
“Son,” he grumbled. God, how many times would they be interrupting him? “I’m her son.”
“Guys, I think he’s gone insane,” Donnie remarked.
“Careful, Don,” Mikey hushed. “Maybe he’s got trauma, and was put up with his sister being the mother role.”
Leon scratched his chin. “Seriously? Casey— I mean, Cassandra here— acting like anyone close to a mother?”
“For the record, I’m not insane!”
“Then, explain how you might be Cassandra’s son, when you’re just about her age.”
“Woah, Donnie, don’t tell me—.”
“That I took DNA samples from his teeth while he were knocked out? Why yes, yes I did.”
Casey shook in the air, which only had the rope swinging him from side to side. “Listen! You want to know how I’m her son? Simple answer is: I’m not from your time.”
“Huh?”
“...Is this going where I think it is?” Donnie covered his own mouth with his hand.
“I know how this sounds,” Casey cautioned. “But I need you to believe me, because I’m from… the future.”
Once again, everyone bursted out into laughter. In fact, even Splinter was amused.
“Y-you cannot be serious!” Donnie crouched over, dying. “That’s not possible!”
“Look, person named Casey,” Raph wiped another tear, “no offense, but if you’re trying to scare us, I can assure you you’ve got better things to do.”
“No! I’m trying to warn you guys about the future!”
“Right,” Leon rolled his eyes playfully. “And uh… how do we know whether we should take your word for it?”
“Because if you won’t do something about this,” Casey’s face contorted in anger, “(NAME) IS GOING TO DIE!”
Noise slipped into immediate silence. Everyone stopped, eyes wide.
“Woah, woah,” Raph’s tone lowered, “You crossed the line there, pal.” The snapping turtle looked to his red-eared brother in concern. He found Leon clenching his hands and narrowing his eyes. “Yeah. There are other ways to get us to listen, y’know.”
“But you wouldn’t listen! And I’m not lying when I—!”
“Then, what are you talking about?!”
“Fine. Let’s start over.” Casey sighed, “My name is Casey Jones. In the future, an alien race by the name of Kraang decimated the planet. Master Leonardo gave me a mission: find the key and stop them.
When I arrived, I couldn’t recognize the place at all. Seeing Commander O’Neil, I thought she could the best person to start with.”
“What’s (Name) got to do here?” Donnie questioned.
“She—.” Casey hesitated, meeting Leon’s eyes. The red-eared slider crossed his arms. “Say it.”
“…She was killed trying to save Master Leonardo.”

Oh, Sweet Child of Mine (Pt. 2)
Masterpost, Part 1
Platonic Whitebeard Pirates & Reader-Insert (with glasses)
Warnings: Platonic Yandere behavior and yes, the kidnapping is still actively occurring. If yandere content disturbs or otherwise unsettles you, I deeply suggest you do not read this series and block the tag "oh sweet child of mine" as well as "one piece yandere". Though mostly framed in a humorous way, it is still very toxic and problematic behavior that you should, in no way, entertain in real life from anyone.
Stay safe and enjoy.
Word Count: 1,540 (would be longer, but I didn't want to have this transitionary chapter be squished in with meeting Whitebeard and settling in)
Tumblr media
When you became a marine, you had considered what you would do if you ran afoul of pirates. Assuming they didn’t kill you outright, that is.
In none of these imagined scenarios did you picture yourself awkwardly curled up in a med bay on one of the ‘junior’ Moby Dicks. As it turns out, Fire Fist and The Phoenix were running a small supply run simultaneously to another junior vessel since none of the surrounding islands could accommodate the Moby Dick herself—the Yonko ship being so absolutely massive for her crew and captain. A young man with a blue mask over his eyes ‘Masked Deuce’ was wiping your face and inspecting your nose for any damage that hadn’t been healed with a critical eye. Fire Fist was somewhere else—likely getting food for himself if his gluttonous behavior was any indication—while The Phoenix appeared to be starting your medical file.
That… was probably not good. The slim possibility that you were going to just be ransomed seemed to dissolve with every scratch of ink he added.
“Well, aside from some possible malnutrition and exhaustion, you seem in good shape. Not what I’d expect of a marine in these parts, though I guess they didn’t care too much about your physical condition.” Deuce placed a firm hand on your shoulder and smiled. “If you’re interested, we can get you into good shape in no time! Or maybe you’re interested in pursuing something else? Oyaji has plenty of resources we can use.” You couldn’t help but grimace and tug on your hat.
“I uh… I’m a marine?” You said, wincing at the questioning tone. “I didn’t enlist for the uniform, you know… I… I’m supposed to try and arrest pirates. Not… join them.” You explained awkwardly. Deuce just laughed while The Phoenix snorted softly.
“Everyone adjusts differently. You’ll love it here eventually.” Deuce winked before handing you a set of clothes to change into. The shirt was emblazoned with Whitebeard’s Jolly Roger.
You were rather at a loss for words. You… well, you couldn’t exactly fight them. You knew that. But you felt rather like the world had tilted dramatically the other way on it’s axis while you weren’t looking. The only way this could get more bizarre is if Fleet Admiral Sengoku called you and congratulated you for the successful adoption and your new, very criminal, pirate-Yonko family.
“Bring-ring. Bring-ring. Bring-ring.”
Oh god, you weren’t ready!? Please no?!
Horrified, you scrambled to pull the snail from your pocket, The Phoenix sliding up and leaning on the bed as you answered.
“Ensign—”
“Where the hell are you?! Ensign Williams was found, thoroughly beaten mind you, on the ground! You were assigned to be his partner!” You almost wept with relief that you were just getting torn a new one.
“A-Ah—W-Well, I-I attempted to flee with Ensign Williams when The Phoenix was spotted with Fire Fist but was… very unsuccessful.” You admitted lamely as one of the men responsible for your plight gave a placid smile, his eyes fixed on you with a horrifying intensity. Though you had no idea what for. If he was pissed you answered, he was more than welcome to take the call himself at this point.
“And why not, Ensign?! Your orders were quite clear!”
“Because I was captured instead?” The snail sputtered.
“Then escape and return to base!” The operator screamed. You were nearly in tears, your day successfully having gone from bad to absolutely the fucking worst.
“How?!” You whispered in horror, practically seeing the dry response in The Phoenix’s eyes.
Run and I will scoop you up with my talons and fly you all the way to Oyaji myself.
The receiver was plucked from your hands and you were torn between thanking your captor or trying to get it back. In the end, you did neither.
“I’m afraid that won’t be happening. Feel free to mail us their last paycheck because they won’t be returning. Consider this their resignation.” The snail blanched.
“On who’s authority, you filthy pirate!”
The Phoenix grinned, all teeth and eyes narrow, sapphire slits.
“Their new big brother.”
It would almost be inspiring how confident he sounded if he didn’t say it like he was declaring that your kidney would taste delightfully delicious.
Any response was cut off by him lifting up the transceiver shell and crushing it with his bare hands.
His smile turned much more friendly as he set the traumatized snail down, but the edges still seemed… feral. He ruffled your hair, knocking off your marine cap in the process.
“Get changed and wash up properly before dinner. It’ll be a few more hours before we meet up with Oyaji. Ace will make sure it’s burned.” Overwhelmed and horrified, you couldn’t help the slight whimper.
“…but I like my uniform.”
The Phoenix paused, giving you a slightly pitying smile as he gave you a side hug, blue fire flickering over the both of you. Any other circumstances, it would feel warm and reassuring.
“I know it’s a lot, kid. But you’ll be fine, I promise.” He paused looking down at you. “The hat’s gotta go, but, I tell you what, how about you keep this, yoi?” He tugged the blue neckerchief loose and placed it on top of your ‘new’ clothes.
Against your better judgment, you were a little touched at the suggestion.
What is your life now? You’ve been kidnapped, forcibly made to join a Yonko crew, and now you feel touched because one of the commanders is letting you keep a token of your job?!
Whatever.
You’d just get issued a new uniform later.
If you ever get away from this crazy ass band of pirates.
“I do like the color…” You added lamely, unwilling to push the argument considering how laughably easy it would be for him to force the issue. And then you’d have nothing left of your own.
“I like the color blue, too, yoi.” You looked at him with a frown. Glancing at his shirt.
“Not purple?” The Phoenix blinked, surprised at your dry response before chuckling.
“Alright, sassy pants. Get marching.” He smirked, shooing you to the bathroom to get changed. Flush and embarrassed, you escaped before he could say anything else.
Now… did your new pants even have pockets big enough for your animal treats?
--*--
Surprisingly, the new clothes fit well. Roomy enough that you didn’t get weirded out that they had your exact size but small enough that it wasn’t going to fall off of you anytime soon.
Your marine blue neckerchief was tied around your right wrist. The only part of your uniform you got to keep besides your shoes.
Any blood was gone from your hands or face but Fire Fist still felt the need to inspect them, playfully pinching your nose to see if it hurt still. Upon seeing that you were in perfectly fine shape, and freshly clean, he beamed.
“I can’t wait for you to meet Oyaji, he’s going to be happy to have a new kid running around. It’ll be a while before you get assigned to a division, but don’t worry, they’re all pretty great! Well, not as great as mine, but still!” Fire Fist laughed boisterously as The Phoenix rolled his eyes, lightly smacking Fire Fist’s head.
“They gotta get used to the crew first, Ace. Don’t jump the gun so quickly or you’ll hurt their feelings.”
Ah yes. Their biggest concern in this whole debacle.
Your feelings.
Cause fuck the law, that’s why. And everything else for good measure.
But also your feelings, because if that was actually a concern they would have left you with your asshat partner and a bloody nose.
… your previous circumstances does not, in fact, justify kidnapping and forced recruitment.
You are a marine damnit! Maybe not a strong one, or even a great one (yet), but there has to be a line somewhere!
“Ahah~! Right, sorry! Here, we’re having soup! It’s not as good as Thatch’s food, but we’re getting back too late for dinner so it’ll have to do. He’ll want a little more warning to pull out all the stops anyway.” Fire Fist laughed, handing you a bowl of hot soup. It smelled good, but despite your hunger, you were still a little thrown.
“…Does he often want to impress captives?” You whispered, more to yourself than anything. Fire Fist paused and actually flushed, laughing to himself.
“Sort of, yeah. He kept trying to feed me while I tried to kill Oyaji for over a hundred days, you know!” You blanched, horrified.
You had forgotten that little tidbit, although most of Fire Fist’s recruitment into the Yonko crew was a mystery, you had overheard that bit.
Suddenly, your prospects of getting out of this scot-free seemed… unlikely.
If being a marine isn’t a deterrent, and neither is many murder attempts, then what the hell could get you out of this? Fire Fist kept laughing as you caught The Phoenix’s eye.
He seemed darkly amused and very much aware of your predicament.
He clapped your shoulder reassuringly.
“Don’t worry about it so much. You’ll figure it out.”
Somehow, you don’t think he was talking about escaping.

ENJOY!
It had been a rough few weeks on your own. Hongjoong moved out and collected almost all of his stuff. It was wrecking you that things didn't work out between you but him leaving was for the best; right person wrong time as they say.
It was 8PM and he was coming to pick up the last box of his belongings and you were dreading it, wondering if it would be the last time you'd see him. Just as you stood up to just wander around again the doorbell rang. He was here.
You rushed into the hall and opened the door, revealing your ex-boyfriend Hongjoong. He looked annoyingly gorgeous. He dyed his hair brown and he had his selfmade jacket on, the jacket you've worn so many times before. But you never would again.
"Hi," you spoke, opening the door further so he could step in, into his old home. "Hi, Y/N," he said softly. There was a weird kind of tension between you two and it was clear you were both still not okay after your break-up.
"Your hair is brown," you noticed as you fidgeted with the anti-anxiety ring on your finger. The ring he got you for your anxiety a few months ago. Did you have to throw this out now too? His gifts?
"Yeah, yeah it is, I dyed it 2 weeks ago," he nodded, taking off his shoes before walking into the livingroom. You followed him and pointed at the box of his belongings. "That's it, I believe, I checked the house," you stated. Hongjoong looked in the box and nodded. "Yes, that seems about right, thank you."
"If I may ask...," you began, hesistance in your voice, "where do you live now?" "I... I am still sleeping on Seonghwa's couch," he confessed, seemingly embarrassed, "but I'm trying to find my own apartment actually."
Your heart broke a little, wishing you could take him into your arms and take care of him again, but there was no use, your relationship was as dead as a withering flower. It hurt you so much, and you knew that would last for a while. You did not want your relationship with him to be a lesson, you wanted it to be love.
"Do you want some coffee?" You offered after being silent for a while. He hesitated but then nodded and sat on the couch. Maybe it was stupid, taking care and keeping him in your old shared home, just for a little longer, just a little longer before saying goodbye. It was hard saying goodbye to a person you had never imagined to say goodbye to.
You poured coffee into Hongjoong's old mug. It was originally yours, the blue one with graphic lines on it, but when you got a house together it was his standard mug. Some things never change.
Hongjoong smiled and thanked you when you put the mug on the coffeetable in front of him. Was he being genuine? Was he okay? You kept wondering and asking yourself what was good, what was right to do, but you decided to play dumb.
"I can't believe how quickly we went from everything to nothing," he remarked, startling you. Your heart started to beat loudly in your chest as you looked him in his eyes.
"I wouldn't say we went to... nothing," you spoke softly, "feelings don't just disappear just because it didn't work out." Hongjoong nodded. "You're right."
"How have you been?" He asked, brushing a hand through his hair. "Shit," you admitted as you sat next to him. "I don't wanna say it but I do miss you, I miss what we were and I hate sleeping alone."
"Me too," he nodded, "I get cold." You nodded. He used to call you his personal heater when he got cold at night. You weren't anymore.
"I still crave you," you sighed. "You crave me?" He asked, looking into your eyes. "We went from loving every night to nothing... there is nothing I miss more than your body on mine."
Tears welled up in your eyes as you thought of the fact that he'd never touch you again. He'd never make love to you again. What a tragedy. "I miss that too," Hongjoong admitted. You sighed deeply and shook your head. "Stop saying that Joong."
"But it's true... I do miss it... I miss the way your skin felt on mine... the way you sound... the way you clenched when you-" "Don't say it," you stopped him, closing your eyes and biting your lip. "The way you clenched on my cock, when you're cumming," he continued, "the way your breasts bounced when you ride me, the way you looked up at me when you got on your knees for me, the way you got so wet for me when I-"
Hongjoongs' hand slid over your thigh and cupped your crotch, making you shiver and tremble. "When I moaned out your fucking name... Y/N," he spoke in a voice way too sensual for a broken up couple. You shouldn't do this, you knew that, but how could you slap that hand away, when it was making you feel so good between your thighs?
"Please, give it to me, just tonight," you whimpered. "What did you say?" "Use me again, give it to me, one last time, and fuck me, hard and deep, make me yours one last time," you said, tears nearly rolling down your cheeks. Hongjoong nodded as he worked his fingers into your panties as your skirt rode up your thighs. Your cunt was damp from just feeling his fingers, how embarrassing.
His middle- and index finger pumped inside your cunt the way they always did and it was good; so good. Hongjoong made you feel things no one ever could, no lover ever made you cum in this shaky, toecurling way. He knew your body like no one else did and he wouldn't forget it. Never.
"Hongjoong!" You moaned out as you arched your back. You leaned against the soft cushions on the couch that Hongjoong once bought. His fingers moved rapidly and found your g-spot, hitting and massaging it repeatedly as his fingers curled just right.
"That's right baby, cum on my fingers," he smirked as he felt your pussy clench. You hated to admit how fast he made you cum, every time. His body worked magic, you were sure.
You clenched hard and came, came loudly, his name rolling off your lips like a mantra. He took his fingers out of you and licked them off before taking you to the bedroom that you once shared. You both took off your clothes as you shared a heated, messy kiss.
Hongjoong felt the familiar sheets on his naked body when he laid on top of you. It smelled just like it always had, but the picture of you and him in the forest had disappeared.
He pumped his rigid cock a few times before sliding it into your awaiting sex, legs spread for him like always. Hongjoong moaned out your name when he felt your walls welcome him, and he swore he didn't wanna leave. Your hands ran over his back, feeling his soft skin underneath your fingertips.
"Please," you whimpered, begging him to move his cock inside you. Hongjoong listened and rocked his hips into yours, cock sliding in and out of you at a fast pace. Your whines and groans got louder gradually as his thrusts got more rough.
The grip of his hands on your hips nearly hurt, but it hurt so good. The pounding of his cock into your pussy made the most sinful squelching and clapping sounds anyone's ever heard, breath heavy and rough.
You felt tears roll down your cheeks this time, no longer able to hold in your sadness. Hongjoong kept ramming his dick inside you, making you moan loudly for him as the bed shook violently.
"Hongjoong!" You cried, sniffling and holding onto his hovering body. "I got you, I got you," he breathed out, but it was a lie. He didn't have you. He threw you away, even.
Why did you have to choose suffering? Why didn't you send him away? Your heart ached while your body felt so good, and before you knew it you were coming hard, clenching roughly on his cock.
Hongjoong moaned out and came as he felt your body tremble. He rode out your orgasms and pulled out of you, admiring the mess he made on your pussy, just for a little while.
He then stood up and put his clothes back on. You cried in your pillow, not wanting it to end. "Y/N, I..."
"Go, I said ...just tonight... one last time... please... I... just go," you whispered. There was no point in pretending it would ever work. There was no point in him pretending to care.
So you send him off, with an ache in your chest. Maybe you deserved better, a true lifelong lovestory. But you wanted him. What a tragedy.
