I love that we get to see the moment Katsuki Bakugo’s worldview starts to change. I love that he gets a center stage moment to realize he might not be everything he thought he was before UA. He coasted for so long on the assumption that he was just better than everyone else that having to face a class full of peers who were just as good as he is, even better in some ways, sent him into an actual panic attack and I cannot stress enough how important that moment is for him as a character
But what I love most is that Katsuki had his moment of panic and doubt, then said “okay, they’re good. I can still be better” and then buckled down and got to it. He could have sat in his tantrum and refused to change. He could have held on to the idea that he was born better and that was all it would take. But he didn’t. He decided that the one who was the best would just have to be the one who put in the work and then he DID it. Entitled asshole to hardworking asshole is not an easy leap to make but he did it.

Bakugo surprises and comforts you while you're grieving. 『 ♡ - k.bakugo x fem!reader 』 tw/cw: depression, grief, brief talks of death ⋆ ˚ʚɞ — This was completely self indulgent as I was reminiscing on an old relative who passed when I was younger. -`✧ katsuki bakugo masterlist
It had been awhile since you’ve been back to the cemetery. The sky was gloomy, threats of rain hanging in the air as you stood before the grave.
Isn’t it crazy how fast a decade flies by?
You used to visit monthly when you were at UA High, but now that you’ve been out of school for two years, it’s been hard to visit more than a handful of times a year. Normally Izuku would come with you as company and you’d both go get crepes afterward as a pick me up, but his patrol duty as the number eight hero came first. It wasn’t able to be helped, your schedules just never aligned anymore to do the things you used to as best friends. You miss him, but understand he’s got a job to do - just like yourself.
You never really talked much about your relative’s passing and how much it affected you throughout your life. You were too young to understand death back then - the only memory of the funeral in your mind was holding your mom’s hand during the burial. It was raining that day, and coincidentally enough, has rained every time you visit.
Thunder rumbles aggressively through the atmosphere as you’re sitting on the cool cobblestone pathway. That’s your queue to head home before the potential downpour, but today? You don’t budge. Something keeps you here for a bit longer. You close your eyes, taking time to reflect as you hold your hand to the ground. A few drops of rain begin to splash against your cheeks and sprinkle onto your pinned up hair.
A moment or two later, you hear thudding footsteps heading in your direction. It catches your attention and forces you to break your mediative trance.
“Kat?” You ask quietly, confused as you see Katsuki walking toward you. He’s got an umbrella in one hand and a few roses in the other.
“You’re gonna catch a damn cold if you stay here in the storm,” he says as he approaches you. He notices your perplexed reaction, assuming you’re surprised to see him here.
“Izuku called me earlier and mentioned he couldn’t make it. I didn’t want ya to be alone.”
Katsuki places the roses on the gravestone, turning to you and offering a hand to help you up. You take his hand, rising to your feet as he shifts beside you, holding the umbrella to shield you both from the oncoming storm.
“That’s sweet of you. I can pay you back for the flowers -”
“Fuck no, they’re a gift, idiot.”
“Thanks, Katsuki. I appreciate it more than you know.” You smile at him, masking the hurt in your eyes. You didn’t want him to see you upset.
“Don’t mention it. Whenever you’re ready, no rush.”
You know he hates the rain with a passion and he’s never come here with you before. He knew about it, but never pushed you to talk about it with him. The fact he’s standing here with you, in the rain? That spoke volumes.
Katsuki grabs your hand gently, startling you at the sudden touch. His fingers interlace with yours gracefully, palm warming the rest of your chilled hand. It fills you with a sense of comfort that he seemed to know, every time, how to provide for you. No words, just a silent understanding.
The rain begins to pick up into a steady shower as your shoulders deflate, a sigh escaping you.
“Alright, we can go. I don’t wanna keep you out in the rain.”
Katsuki nods, removing his hand from yours and slinging his arm around your shoulder. He tugs you closer to make sure you’re fully covered by the umbrella.
“Which crepe place do y’wanna go to?” He asks, tilting his head in your direction as you two start walking back to the cemetery entrance.
You laugh. “You’re out in the rain and willing to stomach a sugar-packed snack? You must be sick.”
He rolls his eyes and bumps you playfully with his hip. “Makin’ an exception today. Whatever y’want. And don’t even bother fightin’ me over it, I’ll take the money right outta your hand before you can pay.”
“Okay, okay. But you gotta get the same thing I do!” You wink, wrapping an arm around his waist.
“Hell no! You always get the sickly sweet shit.”
The two of you walk together to the nearest cafe, in the middle of a downpour, to share some crepes and coffee on this dreary day. You don’t end up leaving for quite some time, catching up over things you’d both missed with one another. It’s like no time had passed at all as you talked for hours.
Katsuki always knew how to make you feel better, he had his own ways to keep your spirits up. Whether it be holding your hand for support or buying you 3 crepes until you’re complaining about feeling sick, he’d do anything to see your smile.

Are you one of the people expecting bkdk to be canon? I just learned that there are people that sincerely believe Hori would have Deku and Bkg have an explicit confession of love. That he's going to be the first popular mangaka to have a endgame gay ship. I am in so many mlm ships of shounen but I've never had the delusion that the author would make them canon despite the evidences otherwise. Like I thought it's fine to ship mlm as long as we stayed in our lane and never harassed the author.
After speaking together, we do believe based on the evidence in the series that BakuDeku being canon is not an even vaguely unreasonable conclusion to reach. We think the story is written in a way you can reach that conclusion easily, so much that even casual viewers who aren’t shippers are questioning the nature/potential conclusion of their relationship.
One of the most consistent and convincing lines of evidence for us has been Katsuki taking on roles/positions traditionally reserved for female heroines/love interests (if you’ve seen anyone call him “narratively androgynous,” this is what they’re referring to). In the context of Jump magazine, we have a number of shonen heroines and love interests to compare Katsuki to. The similarities are so striking that many notable people (including the VAs for the anime) have taken to calling him the heroine of the series.
Tumblr media
However, we do think things like homophobia (whether it’s the writer or the audience/consumerbase at large– in this case we’re primarily referring to the audience), the safety of everyone involved, and timing are all unpredictable factors people have to take into consideration when writing/reading a story of this magnitude. Needless to say, if Horikoshi is indeed planning an endgame for bakudeku, he’d also have to take these factors into consideration.
Horikoshi has a record of being pretty in-tune with his fanbase. He definitely keeps some eye on bnha’s reception–for example, he mentioned a while back that both the people who love Katsuki and the people who hate him will have something to look forward to in this finale (we can now see what he meant lol). He’s very likely aware of the people who love bakudeku and the people who loathe it.
Taking into account that he tends to be very intentional with his writing choices, he’s written this story in a way that not only centered bakudeku’s relationship over others (notably Izuku + Ochako’s, the character he’d presumably end up with if things were going predictably?), but also went the extra mile to distinguish their relationship as unique, closer than all their other relationships, the “biggest pillar of the story” (x, x). He didn’t have to do all of this. This extra push is what’s giving bakudeku that undeniable chance at an endgame right now, because it’s come to a point where no one can ignore the implications of scenes like this:
Tumblr media
On the flip side, we don’t think people’s hesitation is unreasonable. It’s scary! If bakudeku were to fall flat of all this buildup/our expectations, it wouldn’t be the first time the romantic implications between a pair of boys in a story like this was ignored. Hell it wouldn’t be the first time a popular pair in general, (gay or not) got ignored in favor of what the author just felt like doing, regardless of what any previous developments in the story or interviews or official artwork would have us believe. There’s enough written evidence that canon bakudeku wouldn’t be surprising, but there’s also (at the time of writing this response) still room for things to go another direction, for all of this to be recontextualized and passed as something else.
As per social norms/patterns of behavior, this would be disappointing as hell but not surprising. Especially for people who have been let down before, we completely understand the need/impulse to distance oneself from the idea/hope that bakudeku may become canon.
In all honesty, if it turns out bakudeku isn’t canon or left open-ended (say, an ending where they’re partners of some kind/the closest to one another without that explicit romantic confirmation), we would be frustrated/heartbroken. Not because we feel like Horikoshi shouldn’t do what he wants, he should. But because there’s been a clear effort to bring LGBTQ+ readers into the fold, and tell and portray our experiences in MHA. Horikoshi has done a beautiful, incredible job of writing various LGBTQ+ and marginalized experiences as a metaphor in his stories. Toga is a prime example. This is something that readers around the world have noticed, and it’s something MHA is special for (see this data x, and the further context/commentary on it given here x).
We think it’s intentional. This story and the relationships in it have invoked experiences close and personal to many of us. Things are in a state right now where we wouldn’t just feel baited, we feel like readers would have a right to feel unsatisfied.
That being said, feeling unsatisfied doesn’t equate to feeling empowered to harass or bother others. Especially not Horikoshi himself, and also including other readers who had differing expectations. This is really the case across the board. We should all be able to control our anticipation/expectations without becoming assholes.
It’s not just the shippers, by the way. People who work on the series or work closely with Horikoshi have rooted for bakudeku to go beyond. Izuku and Katsuki have already done what a good chunk of the readerbase thought impossible and became friends. People see their writing, their potential, and they want more. The voice actors (x, x sorry for the crunchy pic it's all i've got atm), academics (x), musicians (x, x) , editors (x) and more have all kind of rallied around Bakugou and Deku’s bond, with a particular sensitivity towards the deeply and uniquely intimate nature of it + how it evokes romance.
We’d like to see MHA exist free of the burdens previous popular shounen series have had placed on them. But that’s a conversation for the ending. As far as the fanbase goes, I think it’s super important people practice humility and caution when speaking to others. We have NO way of knowing what will happen. People who have been traumatized by situations like this in the past have a right to be anxious, people in general are allowed to withhold judgment until we have all the information we need. However, we don’t think having hope or confidence that this narrative might lead us to a canon bakudeku is unwarranted or delusional.
At the end of the day one thing is true, and this was something we had to fight to “prove” much longer than we had to prove Bakudeku had romantic potential - it’s that Kacchan and Izuku’s lives are going to be forever intertwined in this new era of their world that births from the finale.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They’re forever intertwined in a way that’s not replicable for any other character in the series, and that’s amazing all on its own. We’ll just have to wait and see how far they take it! Thanks for reading if you got this far, and Happy Holidays!

Toga Himiko - To want a savior
When we think of Himiko, we often come to the conclusion that she is a girl of tragedy. Someone who has repeatedly been rejected by the society around her, and turning her into a “real villain”.
But have we stopped to think that Toga has already chosen to be saved? Let’s talk: the mind and choices to Himiko.
What is a hero?
Now, I’ve kinda talked about being a hero a lot. But I wanna ask the question, what does being a hero mean to Himiko?
Lets go back to our first introduction to Toga, why did she join the league?
Horikoshi often describes Stain as a “dark hero” or vigilante over an actual villain, making Himiko’s inspiration feel out of place (im not completely sure on this, I think he did? If I’m wrong sorry!! Working off of a vague memory I read of an interview). Stain has always had a motive, and that motive is to rid the world of “bad” and “corrupt” heroes. In stains belief system, a Hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice everything for the safety of others. Things like monetary pay or an egocentric Justice, things that Iida or Ochako have as reasons to be heroes at the beginning of mha, are villainess things in his mind. (Stain also questions the ideas and boundaries of what “true villainy” is because, to be honest, it’s a pretty relative term. It depends on your morals and ethics over anything else, and that kinda gets muddled and fuzzy the bigger the group. Also, are villains and criminals different? Like aoyama?)
So what does this mean for Himiko? Well, we don’t really know. We’re working off scraps, a vague idea of “being free”. Maybe she believes that fulfilling stains ideas will somehow bring this freedom, because she will only be around “true heroes”.
What we do know, is that she sees Izuku’s sacrifices with his beat up body, and Ochako’s impressive tenacity and empathy for others, and she adores it. She LOVES THAT SHIT. Of course, she could also just be attracted to Dekus blood or Ochakos life, but I think it’s more than that. Other than age, there’s no one in the league or general villains (that we know of) that she has developed these admirations or crushes on. She loves the league, but she certainly doesn’t admire them.
But she does admire Ochako and Izuku.
She “chose” two hero students specifically. Two students that have repeatedly proven themselves for their heroics. They are the ideal heroes in Stains eyes, because they repeatedly sacrifice.
Because Toga Himiko, would like to have someone who would sacrifice for her.
Do you want kill me too?
Himiko doesn’t hate heroes. She never has. Heroes have never been considered to her as a direct issue. Everyone else in the league was somehow done wrong by a hero, one way or another. Usually, this wrongness is then taken in as a vulnerability for someone else (like afo) to nurture into a festering hatred. Shigaraki and Dabi both experienced this, and spinner simply followed in Shigaraki’s footsteps after the (poorly written) fantasy racism that he experienced. (I refuse to just say racism, because it’s not at all an accurate portrayal of how racism works and it will continue to NEVER BE an accurate portrayal. Ever. I want to make that clear)
Himiko, however, has had an indirect grooming to some extent. This puts her in an interesting place of vulnerability; one that afo exploits and Ochako ignores.
Going all the way back to 289, this chapter encompasses two things: Himiko’s crush and Himiko’s hope.
Tumblr media
Her crush, not understanding of what she’s saying or asking, is obviously confused by this inadvertent confession. Ochako doesn’t realize until 348’s “unrequited love” chapter what this whole scene meant to Himiko.
Tumblr media
Because, not only is this her direct confession, but an inadvertent call for saving. Of course, Himiko’s idea of being saved by Ochako, and Ochako’s idea of saving Himiko, would be very contradictory.
But it’s still there.
This is Ochako’s chance.
And she BLEW IT!
Tumblr media
And god, she knew it. She knows that’s what this is, that’s what this realization was.
Because Ochako is supposed to be the hero that makes other people smile, not to be the one smiling.
Tumblr media
Her thinking of Himiko during her speech? That was Ochako realizing her call for help.
Tumblr media
Thinking of Himiko after her confession to Izuku? She realized that it was, not only a call for help directed at Izuku, but that her previous interaction was a confession.
The real Himiko Toga
So, that begs the question hero, who is the real Himiko Toga?
Tumblr media
I don’t think this is about not loving someone. Himiko does love people, she only wanted to “become” Jin when she desperately needed to be. Because Jin loved Shigaraki and Dabi, Jin loved Toga Himiko.
And that’s something that she can’t do right now. She can’t love shigaraki, she can’t love afo, she can’t even love dabi, the man who gifted her that vile of blood. She can’t even love herself because of it.
That is, if love is the only factor here.
She can still love Dabi or Shigaraki, she can still admire afo, but that doesn’t mean she admires their hatred or loves their destruction. Jin loved people, he loved the life he built in the league. Himiko admired that happiness, she loved and cared for him. Thats why she can use his quirk but no one else’s.
What if, she needs to both love and admire someone? What if she never loved Izuku, but admired his heroics, like Ochako?
The scene that ochako thinks of here is actually Himiko calling out Ochako directly on loving someone.
Tumblr media
This is about their shared crush, but was that crush ever real? Did it ever even matter? Is it just about their first interaction, Ochako’s obsessive rumination over this one interaction? Is this a callback to “ever since I met you, I just couldn’t stop thinking about you”?
What if it’s all of those things? It’s not so far fetched to believe that Ochako needs to use her thoughts, her love, and her admiration to save Himiko.
Because this is Ochako and Himiko’s acceptance of their crushes, heartbreaks, and admirations. Admiration and love get so muddled over time. There is a difference, especially when that admiration only holds you back, like in Ochako’s case, like in Himiko’s case. But they’re still apart of the same concepts.
Himiko’s love also isn’t just romantic, it’s familial or platonic. She’s rough around the edges, but the Himiko that went to Ochako to see if she would be saved is still there. And that’s why she’s not letting her go anymore.
Tumblr media
Because Himiko Toga, the real one, still wants to be saved.

Courting an alpha
“Did you hear that Bakugou Katsuki is courting someone?”
The question hits Izuku like lightning, shocking his fingers and causing the needle he’s got pinched in them to fall. He slowly bends to retrieve it from the ground, listening intently to the conversation next to him.
“He is? How do you know?” asks Uraraka, casually peering in his direction. Their eyes meet for a moment and he knows his closest friend will get to the bottom of things.
“He’s preparing a gift!” Ashido informs her excitedly. “It’s supposed to be personal, too. He must really like the omega.”
Izuku locates the needle and sits up, a frown marring his features. It’s nothing compared to what he’s feeling, just a mask settling into place. The real pain is happening in his chest. His heart aches like Katsuki has reached in, wrapped his fingers around it, and squeezed.
“A-ah! I wasn’t aware he had his eye on anyone!” Uraraka exclaims. “Are you sure?!”
“Trust me, it’s happening.” Ashido grins and shoots her a wink. “He traded a few rabbits and got some quality nest materials. You know how serious it is if he’s picking out that sort of thing for an omega.”
Izuku vaguely acknowledges Uraraka’s sympathetic look. The back of his neck is hot and the flush is quickly spreading to his face—he hates this feeling, like he’s slowly burning from the inside out, embarrassment mixing with crippling disappointment.
“Every alpha is so different,” Chiyo declares from where she’s sitting on the other side of the room. “My mate wove me a crown of flowers.”
Ashido sighs. “That sounds lovely!”
“He certainly took the easy road,” Chiyo comments dryly. “Buying nest materials is a sign of a more doting alpha. If only mine had been so thoughtful…”
“How about you, Midoriya? You’re an alpha.” Ashido leans towards him, her eyebrows wiggling conspiratorially. “Are you working on a courting gift for someone?”
He looks down to where Katsuki’s red scarf lays in his lap. It’s the blond’s favorite, and Izuku has spent the last few hours trying to mend a tear. Laughing quietly, he wonders if that’s not exactly what he’s been doing—preparing courting gifts. His scarf, his jacket, his old pair of boots… Izuku has been taking care of Katsuki for years.
Shaking his head, he replies softly, “I don’t have an omega I’m interested in.”
They change targets after that, interrogating Kirishima who’s been trying his best to turn invisible. Izuku’s too distracted to focus, his thoughts occupied with a certain blonde-haired alpha and his potential mate.
He knew this was going to happen eventually. Alphas and omegas courted, married and produced children. And while he could do the same with someone else—or even a beta—the only person Izuku has ever wanted was Katsuki. Now it’s time for him to face the truth, however bitter.
Without excusing himself, Izuku puts on his gloves and stumbles out of the tent and into the white expanse of snow. It’s cold today, but clear. The top layer of snow is frozen and his boots crunch loudly as he treads through it. After a few minutes, he spots Katsuki where he always is this time of day: near the horses, checking them over.
With as much noise as he’s making, Izuku can’t go for stealth even if he wanted to, but when those familiar reds flick to him, suddenly he wishes he could hide.
“What are you up to?” Katsuki asks, eyes immediately narrowing in suspicion.
Understanding Izuku has always come easily to him… though Izuku is doing a poor job of hiding his distress right now. Anyone could figure out that something is troubling him. He’s lucky his pheromones can’t escape the thick layers he has on or there’d be no pretending at all.
He has an important question for Katsuki, one that will change both of their lives forever. But he doesn’t know how to ask the other alpha if he’s decided to court someone.
“Just checking on you,” he answers instead, worrying his lower lip with his teeth. Hand shaking, Izuku offers him the scarf he just finished repairing. “Here you go.”
Without hesitation, Katsuki bends to expose his neck. A full three seconds pass where Izuku stares at him in confusion, his pulse leaping.
“Hands are full. Put it on for me,” Katsuki demands.
Dragging his eyes from the spot where Katsuki’s mate will mark him someday, Izuku carefully places the scarf on him, mourning how his gloves make it impossible to feel the other man’s skin.
This might be his last chance to do so if the rumors are true.
“Um… Kacchan.”
“What is it?” The blonde straightens, gaze sharp.
The question sits heavy on his tongue. He’s reluctant to ask because he doesn't want to hear the answer. Once he does that’ll mean the end—no more stolen kisses while out riding, no more sneaking into each other’s tents at night, no more quiet mornings together before the rest of the village wakes… Izuku knows that once Katsuki takes a mate, their love affair is over.
And yet, Izuku didn’t run away when he heard the rumor. No, he went to find Katsuki immediately, determined to get an answer from him. Because even if knowing the truth will hurt, it’s better than pretending.
Izuku is no coward.
“Why are you upset?” Katsuki presses when the silence lasts a little too long. Then he cups Izuku’s face in his hands, squeezing his cheeks affectionately.
Izuku blurts it out. “Are you courting someone?”
“What the hell—”
“Ashido said that you traded for some quality fabric, and that you were preparing a gift, and that you were getting ready to court someone, and…” Izuku rushes it all out in one breath. Inhaling sharply, he braces himself. “Kacchan, is any of that true? Are you looking for a mate?”
Usually when Izuku starts mumbling, Katsuki is the first to tell him to knock it off. For once, he remains quiet. It’s as close to a ‘yes’ as Izuku can expect.
“You are…” The words come out strangled, the rest of that thought dying. Izuku’s worst fears have been confirmed with just a look—Katsuki’s mouth hardens into a firm line, a grim furrow pinching his brow.
“You weren’t supposed to know,” he states, expression darkening.
And that’s all it takes for Izuku’s vision to blur with tears.
“Oi! What the—what are you doing? Why are you crying?!” Katsuki is near frantic as he tilts Izuku’s face up to see him better. The sunlight dazzles his eyes as it hits it, and Katsuki quickly shifts to block the rays.
“Who are they? Who’s the o-omega?” Izuku gasps, his stutter from his childhood slipping out. He could care less about it. All he wants to know is who’s managed to capture Katsuki’s attention after Izuku has held it for so long. “Who’s so s-special that you’ll buy them n-nesting materials?”
“Nesting materials? Omega? What are you—?!” Katsuki is upset too, and it takes him a few seconds to figure it out. When he does, Izuku can feel it. His grip on Izuku’s cheeks slacken. “Idiot, those things are for you!”
“Me?” It comes out incredulous. “Why would I need anything like that? I can’t make a nest…”
“It’s not—for god’s sake!” Katsuki releases him and digs into the front of his cloak. A moment later, he pulls out a thick cap, lined with sheep’s wool. Unceremoniously, he places it on Izuku’s head. “It was for this.”
Izuku touches the cap hesitantly. It’s warm and soft. “What… what’s this, Kacchan?”
He’s confused—not about the object or its purpose. He’s confused about what it means when Katsuki gives it to him. Because it sounds almost like—
“It’s not done yet, I’ve been having a time keeping that lining sewn in.” Katsuki grins at him. “It’s a courting gift, dummy. For you.”
Izuku touches it, staring at him. “But we’re both alphas. You’re supposed to find an omega… or a beta. Anyone but another alpha.”
“Yeah, we’re both alphas.” Katsuki knocks their foreheads together gently. “And we’re future mates. If you’ll have me.”
Izuku’s world is flipping on its head, shifting under his feet and leaving him unsure of where he’s standing. But as he clings to Katsuki, it finally rights itself. He reaches to Katsuki’s hands, lacing their fingers together.
“Of course I’ll have you.” Izuku breathes. “We’ll be together for the rest of our lives.”
And so a courtship that had begun the first time they laid eyes on each other—and all the years of sharing gifts and affection in between—finally becomes official.

Shouto’s completely focused on Izuku, soaking in every word as if the other has all the answers on how to live. “Where do I direct it?” he questions when Izuku finishes. Perhaps toward winning the war; toward rebuilding society? He despises All For One (as he should). He hates Shigaraki too for injuring and endangering his friends. But wanting to reach Touya-nii, wanting him to heal too, he understands many were the consequences of unfortunate circumstances. Aoyama. And Izuku here too. His mother. His father. It would be hypocritical to support the redemption of only some and not others.
“I don’t want to direct it at other people.” Nor himself, admittedly. So where is he supposed to put it so it doesn’t keep wounding him too.

Something different Yugi Mutou for ask thing and for mha all might
Mutoh Yugi:
Tumblr media
I love season zero. I love the original manga. I love every scene with Yugi in it, including when he’s actually being a horny little gremlin about Anzu, though it is not my favorite. And I love Yami Yugi too, but the thing is, after a while it felt wrong to me to watch a duel JUST be Yami and not have Yugi himself show up or take the lead. I feel the Yugi-Kaiba dynamic is not explored enough in the later series, for example.
I hesitate to say he was done dirty by the fans because there’s, like, always 3,000 things to discuss in the series and it’s not always the best thing to do to just focus on him while the bullshit circus is raging around him, but I always got the impression that, for the main character, he takes a backseat A LOT. Which is also, like, kind of his way and the point in some senses… but whatever. Between Yugi and his other self, I always kinda preferred Yugi, which surprises me.
Toshinori Yagi:
Tumblr media
Toshinori is not my blorbo, exactly, but I’m fond of him. His little skeleton-self is the cutest thing. So I can’t REALLY call him “cool”, but I am marking it anyway.
He deserves more time to interact with the kids he DOES interact with, and to interact with more kids in -A and beyond. Someone please show me that old guy getting a life.
Also, while I think criticizing All Might/Toshinori is valid, I feel like the western fandom makes the same mistake as with Dragonball’s Son Goku. You can hate his choices, but if you fail to understand them, you’ve also sorta missed the point of the character. But in Yagi’s case, it also indicates to me that someone has missed the subtext (or just plain text) present regarding the pressures that make up the world of the manga and the paradox of making only “good” decisions and being “perfect” when that is literally impossible to do, especially for just one guy doing his best.
I’m not saying being super critical of Toshinori makes for bad stuff in all cases, nor am I saying to NOT do what makes a fan creator happy (or feels cathartic) if that’s what it takes, but I sure don’t have to like it.
Like… lack of insight that could transform criticisms of All Might the character or symbol into criticisms of the US’s influence, Japan’s postwar societal direction, or even just the modern Japanese or global perspective of the US being or seeming just larger than fucking life in ANY dimension makes most western-fandom All Might bashing feel, like, a little tone-deaf, tasteless, brainless, and shallow. Or even just understanding that, yes, the manga WANTS you to see some similarities in the Toshinori-Izuku situation and the All for One-Shigaraki and HSPC-Hawks situations but there are differences, too, would help get those kinds of portrayals or observations off the ground for me. Just… leave that old man alone. He was sold a shitshow served with optimism at best or a blatant fucking lie just like his predecessors and just like the rest of the cast - and you and me, if I’m being honest and thinking about the real world for a second, here.

ranting about character development, sort of. please feel free to ignore
been reading a lot of fic lately, and i made the mistake of going into the comments, and it just reminded me that a lot of people don’t seem to understand the point of character development. and it also feels like some people don’t ever want anyone ( real or fictional, let’s be honest, but that’s for another discussion) to grow and unlearn any problematic and toxic behaviors they had. yes this is directly related to bakugou bc like.
i’ve seen so many people say they hate him and they think he’s irredeemable, and i’m just... sorry, i don’t agree with that at all. he is still a child, he is very much capable of learning not to be such an asshole and unlearning all of the toxic bullshit he grew up with. and i think a lot of people forget that bakugou is the direct product of the extremely toxic and bigoted environment he grew up in. we’re shown in canon that the discrimination izuku faced wasn’t just from one person; it was systemic. his teachers never put in the effort to stop other kids from harming him, always turning their cheeks to the abuse he suffered from bakugou and others. little kids are highly impressionable. it’s not a surprise at all that bakugou grew up to be so brash, cocky, and violent, given his behavior as a little kid and how nobody around him even tried to correct it.
he was put on a pedestal for his quirk while izuku was thrown aside for his lack of quirk. bakugou lashed out at izuku in his anger over izuku not getting a quirk but still not giving up on his dream of being hero despite having no quirk, and aside from maybe his parents, not a single adult in his life told him that he was wrong for bullying izuku or even tried to stop him. they just let it happen. they let him think he was right for abusing izuku. bakugou grew up with years of bigotry against quirkless people being put into his head.
and none of that is to say that what he did was okay. none of his behavior was okay. there’s no justifying how he acted, and he’s not owed forgiveness, most especially not from izuku. but still, i just don’t like that people disregard his development and label him as someone incapable of changing. i don’t think it’s as black and white as that.

Chapter 33/?
Midoriya Izuku stopped believing in heroes when a tragedy occurred in his life. When at the tender age of 11, he lost everything that was everything dear to him, everything that was worth living for. Yet he doesn’t give up. He can’t give up. He decides to make a choice instead. No longer will he stand around and wait for the heroes to arrive while a crime goes down. He’ll be his own hero and a hero to those who are just like him. Those waiting for help that will never arrive. In order to do that, though, he’ll have to fight to survive and lie through his teeth. It won’t be so bad!
After all, it’s not like they can bring him in for vigilantism and Illegal Quirk Usage when he doesn’t even have a quirk, right?

“This is very suspicious,” Iida Tenya says to his older brother as they ride the train to the Aizawa-Yamada residence.
“Tenya,” Iida Tensei sighs out fondly.
“It is and you cannot convince me otherwise, nii-san!” He insists with a firm arm chopping motion in his direction.
“Alright… why do you think it’s suspicious? Shouta and Hizashi have just invited us to dinner. That’s not unusual!”
“No, no, no, no, no! Shouta-san invited us to dinner and said he had a surprise to show us.”
“Yes… And?” Tensei prompts with confusion.
“Shouta-san never invites us to dinner,” He clarifies, “He abhors it because doesn’t like to entertain guests. Because he’s Shouta-san. It’s too much effort for him. And the surprise! The surprise, nii-san!”
“What about the surprise?” Tensei’s starting to get nervous. Is Tenya onto something with this line of thinking?
The look Tenya gives him makes him feel a bit like an idiot. “Do you remember the surprise party we threw for Shouta-san’s birthday three years ago?”
“Oh God, you know we all swore to never bring up that disaster again!” Tensei shudders.
Tenya claps his hands together and points them at him, “Exactly! Surprise is the word you should be paying attention to there, nii-san! Shouta-san hates surprises! With a passion! Why would he willingly be participating in a surprise anything!”
Tensei stays quiet as he starts putting all the pieces Tenya just laid out for him together. His eyes steadily widen as it all starts to click. “Oh shit…” he curses quietly under his breath.
“Exactly!” Tenya exclaims, “Now you understand!”
“Should we be afraid? I-I feel like we should be afraid.”
“I don’t know,” Tenya says. Tensei looks at his younger brother in fear. Tenya scowls at it, “I’m not a mind reader. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just know it’s probably not going to be good since it involves Shouta-san socializing at a surprise.”
Is it too late to call and say we can’t make it? Tensei thinks to himself. No. They’re already almost there. No point in not facing the music now. He takes a deep breath as Tenya rolls his shoulders to center himself. Right, they can do this. The rest of the way to Shouta and Hizashi’s house is tense. When they finally stand on the doorstep of the Aizawa-Yamada residence, they share a quick look between the two of them. Moment of truth. Tensei knocks on the door. It opens a moment later to Nemuri, wearing a soft purple sweater dress and leggings, who smiles at them, “Tensei! Tenya-kun! Glad you could make it!”
“Hey Nem,” Tensei greets.
“Good day to you, Aunt Nemuri!” Tenya chops his arms with the greeting, as is usual with him.
“One of these days, Tenya-kun, I’ll get you to call me Aunt Nemy or Auntie Nemuri!”
“I will not. It isn’t proper!” She pouts but steps back to let them both in. They both step in as Tensei looks around, not seeing Shouta or Hizashi yet, commenting, “It’s weird that you got here before us, Nem.”
“Oh! Well! Y’know!” She shrugs, smirking in a way that does not bode well for Tensei’s poor heart. “I just thought I’d get here early! Maybe help out! Zashi and Shou are in the kitchen if you wanna go see them!”
She giggles as Tensei moves to the kitchen. Tenya follows behind him, eyes searching around for anything out of place that might be the surprise. There’s apparently nothing that catches his attention because he doesn’t nudge Tensei or call his attention to anything. Muffled words reach his ears as they near the kitchen. They become clearer the closer they get.
“-Be okay, baby. I promise,” That’s Hizashi’s voice, whispering quietly. Shouta’s voice hums in agreement a moment later. Who are they talking to?
He and Tenya round the corner and come across Hizashi and Shouta sitting next to a green haired child. He blinks in shock, the three in the kitchen not noticing them yet. “What?” He asks, confused.
All three turn their heads up towards them. The child is the first to speak, calling out incredulously, “Ingenium?! Really?! Your other friend is Ingenium?!”
“Did we not tell you?” Hizashi asks, innocently, “Whoopsie!”
Shouta rolls his eyes at his husband’s ridiculousness. Tensei chuckles, “Well you know who I am… somehow. Iida Tensei, is my civilian name. And I don’t know who you are.”
“This is Izuku!” Hizashi introduces the child happily, “He’s our foster son!”
“You… Your foster son?!” He exclaims.
“Yes!” Hizashi squeals. Shouta adding, “We found him on the streets.”
“The streets?! Where are his parents then?”
“DOA and DTM,” Izuku bitterly replies.
Tensei raises an eyebrow at that, “I… What does that mean?”
“Dead on Arrival and Dead to Me,” Izuku’s eyes dart off to the side before he adds, “Possibly actually dead. Still unclear and unproven.”
Tensei feels his whole soul leave his body as he pales at that sentence. “I am so sorry!” He says sincerely.
Izuku shrugs, “Eh. I’m basically over it. You don’t even have the whole story like Tsukauchi-san does. So… You know.”
Tensei sighs then sputters a bit. Naomasa knows already? Before him? Rude of his best friends… Tenya clears his throat beside him. Tensei glances at him before making a noise of understanding, “Oh right! This is my brother, Iida Tenya.”
“A pleasure to meet you, Izuku-san!” Is the enthusiastic greeting from his little brother.
“Loud…” Izuku mutters, mostly to himself but Tensei does hear him. Tenya thankfully doesn’t. He looks overly stressed at it. Loud noises must frighten him easily. Hizashi just puts a hand on Izuku’s shoulder, murmuring soft words of reassurance to him. Izuku takes a deep breath and nods to the blonde. Then he turns back to Tenya, “It’s uh… It’s nice to meet you too, Iida-kun.”
“Tenya is fine. You are Hizashi-san and Shouta-san’s foster son now after all!”
Izuku nods in understanding. Nemuri pops up behind them a second later, “Isn’t this so sweet?! Tenya-kun and Izuku-kun can get to know each other a little better over dinner though! They’re the same age after all! For now, Hizashi, let's get to cooking so we can eat!”
“I think you mean let me get to cooking so we can eat. I’m not letting you in the kitchen if every bone in my body was broken, Nems!” Hizashi teases.
“Mean!”
Nemuri and Tenya both join Izuku and Aizawa at the table as Hizashi moves to the stove to get the already prepped ingredients cooking. Nemuri immediately starts a conversation with Izuku that the boy easily replies to. Tenya studies both of them and takes certain cues on when to add his two cents to things, ensuring that it’s moments that won’t trigger the other’s anxiety. His little brother is the best. Tensei smiles as he also joins the table, striking up a soft conversation with Aizawa so as not to interrupt the bonding occurring between the two teens and Nemuri. By the time the kitchen is full of good scents and the table is set with food, Izuku and Tenya are sharing jokes and giggling at them. Tensei smiles again. Yep, that settles it. Izuku was definitely a part of their interesting little family.

Tumblr media
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: none
𝐚/𝐧: this is a long one hahhaa, i didn’t feel like making two parts, so i just put all of them in one! <3
reader is gender neutral!
Tumblr media
todoroki shouto
both you and todoroki value your alone time a lot
and you’re very independent people
you have a tendency to over-think but under-act
and since both of you are introverted and like being by yourself there isn’t a lot of balance
but you won’t struggle with understanding the others energy levels
you’re both critical people, some would say even overly critical
which is a characteristic that can make you both clash a little in a relationship
but paying more attention to how you take in ideas from each other and appearing a little more open-minded with each other helps immensely
you must admit that midoriya was a little bit of help with that issue
but being so open with each other also has its advantages
Because communication and honesty is super important in relationships
you’re a phenomenal team when it comes to planning and organization
especially during hero training, you can easily bounce off on each other
you’re very like-minded
you also like to solve problems
and you quickly realised that when you do it together it’s quite fun
and leads to a more satisfying outcome
because both of your ideas combined are better in every way
bakugou katsuki
bakugou likes to pretend like he doesn’t like people
or wants to be surrounded by them in any way
and in the beginning, he really really loves acting like he doesn’t like you one bit
you know, just bakugou things
quite the stubborn boy
he hates to admit, even to himself, that you just really get him
on a level no one else does
you have a very similar way of thinking, have similar approaches while problem-solving and trust your intuition a lot
you do enjoy doing this by yourself
solve your problems in private and think things out internally
bakugou does (and he will deny this!) like vocalising his thoughts to other people and putting them in order that way
he often does it with kirishima though and when it’s something he doesn’t want people to know about he does it with midoriya
he’s kinda rude about it though
you realize that when he starts adding you to the list of people he shares his thoughts with
but interestingly enough he is not opposed to you giving your opinion on the matter
conversations between you are really stimulating for you
when you go over topics you are both interested in or open enough to learn about you could talk about it for hours
despite that, both of you are really private people and uncomfortable with openly sharing your emotional state with others
so you don’t pressure each other when it comes to that
and after you started dating you tried to be a little more open with each other
considering you don’t push each other because you do understand where they are coming from
hawks
hawks is a real mystery to you sometimes
he looks very simple on the outside: charming, fun, carefree
but beneath the surface, there is a lot more he is trying to hide
he’s a lot more serious and intelligent than he lets on at first
and you couldn’t be more intrigued by that
he had a lot of secrets that he didn’t want anyone to know about
hawks is childish at times but it doesn’t annoy you
it actually helps you bring out your inner child as well and be a little goofier with him
when you and hawks fight it’s hardly emotional
you mostly try to concentrate on the problem at hand
you rarely get caught up in the emotional aspect of it
both of you are just honest and direct
no unnecessary name calling or pettiness
hawks will know when you are upset because you tell him
and hawks tells you when you did something to upset him
so fights never escalate
you call each other out when it’s necessary
and you’re so close whenever something happens the other is the first person you tell
at the end of the day, you’re definitely each other’s best friends next to the s/o part
shinsou hitoshi
shinsou is a more reserved person
(very reserved)
when he said he’s not here to make friends he fully means it
and midoriya might be an exception
but shinsou doesn’t go around actively looking for friends
neither are you
you quickly catch each other’s eyes though
shinsou is a very eye catching person you must say
he seems cold and quiet but he’s also got a lot of wit
you both could talk for hours
and if you say hours you mean hours
shinsou knows so many things about a lot of different things
you sometimes wonder where that knowledge comes from
because it seems random at times
he’ll know about the characteristics of nocturnal animals and then he’ll start telling you about what happens with the brain when it’s sleep deprived
conversations with him are never boring
and he’s just as curious to hear everything about whatever topic you were a specialist in
both of you share a similar humour
which is dark dark humour
self deprecating and a little inappropriate at times
shinsou is so unintentionally funny it’s hilarious
he’ll just randomly make a joke that is so unexpected and makes you laugh so hard
you were friends first and s/o second
and you like to bring up how you must be so irresistible
if shinsou threw his rule away to “not make friends” while training to become a hero
well, you and midoriya that is
but you were obviously even more special
tamaki amajiki
now tamaki isn’t just shy like some people may believe when they first meet him
he also has crippling social anxiety
the first time you talked to him he had turned and stared at the wall instead
and then profusely apologized for doing that
so you and tamaki’s relationship was a little bit of a longer work in progress
you didn’t mind though
you yourself were more of an introvert so you understood how other people were draining
and interaction could be exhausting
and you didn’t push him to do anything he didn’t want either
when you both get closer you have no problems with spending time in privacy
you find that the silence can be really stimulating to your brain
and tamaki told you he feels the same
you spark each others imagination and tamaki is a very creative person
he has his little passions and some of them are a little uncommon
but they are incredibly fascinating to you
tamaki has quite a lot to talk about when his social anxiety doesn’t get in the way
he has a lot of ideas and interests
and you really enjoy your conversations with him
tamaki can be quite sensitive so you have to be careful not to be too direct or explain yourself better when you do bring criticism towards him
as he easily deflates and withdraws
he sometimes takes things to personally
even though you certainly don’t mean it the way he takes it
but you know tamaki’s struggles
and you are respectful of them
and tamaki tries his best, too
midoriya izuku
you and izuku are something like kindred spirits
you observe things in similar way and share a lot of interests
you are both seekers
you like to explore possible futures and chances
and doing it together can be so exciting
you both like complex things and figuring them out
deku with his hero notebooks immediately draws your attention
the amount of work and effort he puts into that
and how thorough he is with his work?
damn
izuku is your to go person when it comes to discussing interesting topic or ideas
and he has so many theories about so many things
you could spend the whole night talking with him about it
not only that
but neither of you likes to take things at face value
you are highly critical people
so conversations quickly turn into discussions
and those discussions might be the most fun about your time together
you both like to spend time alone
and spending time alone together is much more preferred than going out
you rarely fight because deku is harmonic
he wants to talk things out
understand what the issue is and then solve it
and you are similar
you want to talk issues out and are very upfront about what is bothering you
all in all you and izuku are very much a dream team

On the Realities of BNHA’s Heroism, and Those Who Act Within It (A Look At Dadz- Aizawa)
I, admittedly, am somewhat biased because I love Aizawa Shouta, and I don’t want people to read this without knowing it. However, I would like to think myself a realist, and I have thought upon and written his character for over a year and over a million words, so I would like to think that I can see both his shortcomings and his brilliance.
He is a good teacher. A good man. Not always the kindest one, but a good one.
BNHA MANGA SPOILERS  (Chapter 340 included) (oh, and a note that this is by no means looking for discourse or controversy, nor is it a complete consideration of his character and actions - it’s a ramble I wanted to share after having read the most recent chapter released online, and thus focuses on Aizawa in relation to the direct elements related to that)
this chapter heavily featured Aizawa, and did so for the first time in a while - he’s been here, of course, and I’ve looked at every instance, but he was very prominent in this, and that gave me a lot to think about, and emphasised a lot of the thoughts I already had
Tumblr media
He is intense. Scary, even. He has always had this start, right from his intro, and it makes sense.
See, this scene, to me, epitomises a lot of what too many people don't seem to understand about Aizawa, the Heroics Industry, and BNHA as a whole - he is an underground hero, and a man who has to teach children to be heroes, a glorified industry wherein many enter with stars in their eyes, expecting glory and money and adrenaline, to save people, but not truly understanding how they will have blood on their hands for the rest of their lives
Aizawa sees the worst of their society. A society that is very, very different to our own, not only because it's Japan rather than the Western world (speaking as someone who mostly interacts with those from the US and UK within this fandom’s sphere), but also because, as canonically-stated, the world changed a lot with the evolution of Quirks. Their standards for what is acceptable, what is dangerous or unusual, is incredibly different to ours. This fact, alone, explains a lot about many characters’ actions and attitudes, but I won’t go into that right now.
Aizawa - Eraserhead - knows he's sending these kids onto battlefields. He knows he's sending them to kill, to be killed, to lose the ones they love and even those they hate. To fail.
So yes, he can be harsh. He does it because he wants these kids to survive. He is intense, even scary, because he spends his nights dealing with the worst of society, and his days teaching people less than half his age, minors, how to do that themselves in the future. Of course, BNHA society is somewhat desensitised to this concept in a way that most of us, as consumers, aren’t, but there is undeniably still a massive weight upon him in this context.
Aizawa has nearly died for his class several times. He has nearly expelled them, at times, because they put themselves to what (in his knowledge) was completely unnecessary risk, and, though I won’t pretend to love that on a personal level, I do consider it fair. (Yes, I include Izuku’s QA Test in that - he was unaware, and ignorance does not excuse cruelty but I, personally, did not find him cruel - again, consider the different society that BNHA have to ourselves.)
He will go, no pun intended, above and beyond for his students, and I thoroughly believe that goes beyond the fact that he is employed to do so. There is a ferocity to the way he addresses their safety, a surety in his belief in them, and, in recent arcs but also as far back as the Final Exams, for example, a faith in their skills and heroism. He has taught them well, and he trusts that they are brilliant all in their own right. He does not discriminate, does not judge, only pushes and guides and nudges them to where they need to be to survive.
With this recent arc, no matter how much I dislike a very large proportion of it, between the senseless deaths and the traitor arc and more minor things that I generally don’t like (there are parts I do love, don’t get me wrong, and that is only my personal opinion regardless), you cannot deny that Aizawa wants the best for his students, Aoyama included. And Aoyama needs a push in the right direction. He needs help, needs someone to believe in him, needs to know that people are there for him. And I would find it hard to believe anyone could read the scenes in this chapter in any other way than Aizawa telling Aoyama to trust them all, to work alongside them.
So, yes, I genuinely believe him to be a good teacher.
Anyways!! Here are some of the softer Dadzawa moments from this chapter that I loved very much, if you got to the end of this  ^^;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then this last one, guys, with that soft not-scowl (and whoops, my writer head came out when I wrote that, didn’t it?)

Chapter 319 or why Bakugou might not be healthy for Izuku
This here might be a bit on the anti Bakugou side. I tagged it as such so you can filter those out and put it under a read more if you dont want to read it.
So. In the last day I did read a few opinions on the chapter leaks. What some think will happen and so on. Some from Pros some from Antis. This again is an opinion. It is not absolute. I do not claim it to be the absolute truth. This is just my personal interpretation. What I think that will happen is that Class 1A lead by Bakugou will fight Midoriya to try to bring him back. I don’t think talking to him will happen with Bakugou there. As one of Bakugous coping mechanisms is fighting. However with that come problems. I can understand the reasoning behind fighting him. A little talk will most likely not make him come back. However it might ease things. Might make him a tiny bit calmer. Might not make things worse. Fighting however will make things worse. Izuku is already on edge. He is already filled with paranoia. He hasn’t slept or eaten well. He might do rash decisions. He is not in a healthy mental state. And here we have it. His friends, his supposed allies are fighting him. The people he wants to protect went out and attack him. Out in their costumes. Ready for battle. A kinda scary scene overall. You dont see their faces. You feel anger coming from them.
Tumblr media
It might bring some memories back to Izuku if you compare it with another picture.
Tumblr media
Just like the picture before Bakugou is kinda in the foreground.He is leading just like back then he was leading his so called “extras” This might bring back memories to Izuku. Again he is sleep deprived. His mind might not work the sharpest. For all he knows it´s like back in his other schools where Bakugou lead his group of “extras” to attack Izuku. He might fight back stronger than intended. He might just try to flee even more. Overall it is not very helpful to him. Because a part of the reason for Izukus mental health is Bakugou. Not in a kind of friendship way but more as a cause. Bakugou to put it simply had been Izukus main bully. They were never apart. From preschool to UA. They were in the same class. With team exercises they were together. Izuku never had a break from him. He was never allowed to have time without him. From early on Bakugou has called him useless, worthless, what does one think the name Deku means. Has been using his quirk on him without the teachers caring. Before people say that is long ago. It is not. Right now they are in their second year. How did their first year start. Bakugou trying to attack Midoriya. Trying to kill him. Insulting him where he goes. It is not long ago. And even if it was like 300 or so chapters ago. That still happened. That is still the characters backstory. Honestly you are fine to like a character. But one should recognize that a character has flaws. No character is perfect. Saying that you like a character and saying that they are an asshole that needs to change can coexist. I like Overhauls aesthetic and quirk. Am I okay with what he did. Nope. Would I want him set on fire. Yes. Simple as that. Now back to it. In chapter 319 we hear Bakugou say that Izukus self sacrificial nature is caused by All Might. This. I do not agree with. Again. Who has called him worthless, a pebble on the road, useless, a deku for years. It was not All Might. Izuku has incredible low self worth. If it means saving a cat from a tree he would break his legs. He doesnt care for himself. He sees himself as worthless and only as somewhat useful when he is saving people. It got drilled into him from a young age. This is not something simple that is left behind after a few days. It can take years. And so far he has nothing contrary to those ideas. There are three people that know of his former quirklessness. His mom. Who is kinda supposed to love him. All Might who never really went back on the quirkless hero thing and Bakugou who still insults him for it. Everyone else only knows him with his quirk. Only knows him with being useful. Just because he has a quirk now doesnt mean that quirkless Izuku has ever left his mind. Yes All Might is not perfect. He has flaws. Those flaws are shown and others call him out. Could he have done more. Yes. Could he have helped him mentally. To a degree. But again. All Might is flawed. He is not perfect. All Might is shown to lack social skills. Seeing Bakugou just as rival or Endeavor who has open hate for him as friends. He never had a normal relationship. And again he was not the cause for Izukus psyche. He didnt lay the groundwork. With Bakugou blaming it on All Might. The guy that is not there and can’t protect himself he is doing something one could call damage control. He is not telling the entire truth. For the truth would hinder his dream of becoming number one and reduce his social standing. Him telling others that he is even partly responsible would surely open more questions later he would want to avoid. He also calls Midoriya crazy which is a tactic used to discredit a victim. Same for him making things up and overexaggerating and so on. He did do damage control before. A bit ago he told All Might that he was bullying Izuku in the past. You would think It´s something positive. But here is the thing. He lacked details. He didnt tell him much. For all we know All Might assumed some rough housing and name calling. Nothing that bad. It is to soften the blow. So if Izuku tells him later All Might is already in the mindset that it wasn’t so bad. Bakugou seems not that he would lie and my successor must be overexaggerating a bit. Bakugou is not that dumb. He knows his way around words. He knows when to not openly attack and wait for a better chance. A fool would have kept attacking Izuku after Aizawa held him back. He was just waiting for the training with All Might. He knows what buttons to push to get information out of Izuku. He basically forced the OFA secret out of him. One could call this a good use of crocodile tears if they so want. If they dislike him that much. Again an opinion of many. As of Chapter 319. He might have good intentions. He might want something good for Izuku. But the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Good intentions are not an excuse. Just because Bakugou thinks it is the best doesn’t mean it will be automatically the best. Just because the dog wants the chocolate bar doesnt mean it will be healthy for anyone involved. Bakugou being there might be quite detrimental to Izukus health. He might just open up wounds again. Izuku fighting class 1A would probably not increase his trust. And what are they going to do if they win. Tie him up, drug him, force him back. He will just try to escape. His trust in them will be broken. He might allow some sleep but it will never be the same. He already had trust issues before this will just expand them further. Isolate him further. This is what AFO wants. To have the heroes fighting with eachother. To have the OFA holder isolated and even branded as Villain for fighting as hero class. 1A winning is also a big IF. Shigaraki fought Gigantomachia and the MLA sleep deprived and incredible tired and won. Shigaraki and Izuku are foils. Two sides of the same coin. Izuku had a year to analyse their quirks. He has a bunch of quirks for himself and OFA mastered far more than anytime before he trained with them. He has become a natural disaster in human form. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he defeats them and leaves. To me the good option would be trying to talk to him. Not let Bakugou do the talking. He lacks the fine control. Get him in the direction of rest. Sadly none of them are trained professionals to deal with mental health. They are children that just fought in a war and also got traumatised. So I dont have great hope on them taking the talking route. Overall I think this will be a breaking point. They will fight. Izuku will most likely win and his trust will be broken even more. He will be even more isolated. His personality might take a darker turn seeing as there is no one he can trust. It might just get even darker than before.

Do you have any advice for writing a fight scene that was also present in canon?
I really love your take on the Midoriya vs. Todoroki fight in Anyone and how you managed to use the expectations set by canon and twist and use them to your advantage!
I have trouble writing the fight from the first hero training inside my fic (I swapped Ochako with Shinsou to spice it up a bit more and for changed friendship dynamics). I know the direction I want it to go and I know how I want it to end but for the life of me I don't know how to make it interesting... every time I sit down and write it I think it's boring writing it. And if I think it's boring while I am writing it I don't even want to imagine how boring it is to read.
🙏
Okay, first rule about rewriting a fight that was already in canon: if you're not changing anything and if you're not interesting in writing it just for writing it, just skip them.
Instead of writing ten pages you're simply not vibing with, a "X was still thinking about Y and Z fight. The way X had just hit Z with that fire extinguisher had been a sight to behold. [Insert how he feels for one or the two participants". He breathed in, then out. It was now time to focus." will be much simpler for everyone involved.
Only writing the consequences is also a valid approach.
That way, you and your readers directly get to the juicy part.
But that's if you're not interested in writing the fight in itself. If you really want to write a fight scene, think about two things: 1. What changed in your AU and how does that affect the characters? What's the differences? 2. Who needs to win?
Once you know that, you can focus on the fight. Do you want a character to almost lose but to win because they simply refuse to stay down? Do you want them to win because they are smarter? Do you want they to win because they are an enraged gremlin that has no chill?
I have four tricks when it comes to writing fight scenes.
1. Focus on emotions.
People are made of different motivations. Why do they need to win? Do they respect their opponent? Do they hate them? Do they look for their respect? Are they friends?
For example: Bakugou and Iida vs Midoriya and Uraraka
Bakugou doesn't respect anyone and is focused on Deku. He wants to prove that he doesn't belong in UA and he wants to know what Deku really thinks of him (since he thought he had lied about not having a quirk and he is completely unhinged at the time because nothing makes sense.)
Izuku wants to prove that he belongs in UA, wants to stop being afraid of Kacchan, and wants him to know that he isn't his punching ball anymore.
Ochako wants to win with Midoriya but she doesn't have an emotional stake in this.
Tenya wants to win but also shows that he understands all the rules of the exercise (since he failed to notice that there were rescue points in the entrance exam), hence why he is completely in character as a villain. He also has to win despite Bakugou.
2. Remember that the reader doesn't live in your head
I won't ask you to keep things simple when you write a fight scene but please, always keep in mind that your reader has to understand what is going on. They have to follow what you're saying, and preferably, they don't have to hurt their brains while doing so.
So, if you reread an action and have to pause to remember what it was about, rewrite it.
3. POV switches, my beloved
That's a me thing. Maybe it won't agree with you. But oh boy, I do love my POV switches. That way, you can surprise the reader since A doesn't know what B is about to do. You can also explore the psyche of both characters in the same fight.
Another thing that is fun to do is the Outsider POV. You're writing about the Sport Festival, an event that is on TV and that your readers are already familiar with. Introducing some novelty by having outsiders react to the fight will bring some spice and is good for your story.
For example: Bakugou vs Uraraka in the Sport Festival.
Tomura noticing that Bakugou has a powerful quirk, real instinct when it comes to fighting, and how the public is quick to turn on him because he isn't winning like a hero should, even though winning is the whole point of the fight. Society is hypocritical! He is ostracized because of his quirk! It might be fun to recruit him!
Other example in the first Hero lesson this time: All Might, a new teacher, noticing what the students lacks and what their strengths are.
4. Write what you would have wanted to see in the fight
We're fanfic writers! Being self indulgent is the whole point!
For the First Hero Lesson, I always have Izuku dominating the fight by being OP.
I could also have him winning by booby trapping the entire building and playing Katsuki like a fiddle.
For the Sport Festival, Todoroki vs Midoriya, I focus more on Todoroki actually harming himself (not to Izuku's extent but he flirts with hypothermia to prove a point) and I researched the side effects of hypothermia to show how he kept weakening himself, and I focus on Izuku being angry because he, a boy defined by his past powerlessness, is fighting someone extremely powerful who is limiting himself, which is simply disrespectful.
For the Sport Festival again, if I ever write Bakugou vs Uraraka, I would love to use Uraraka trash talking Bakugou to get inside his head.
So, to conclude this, things about what interests you in a Shinsou and Midoriya team up, then work from that.
Good luck.

How Izuku Compares Kouta To Tomura
I’m obsessed with how Izuku compares Kouta to Tomura
In this scene, where Mandalay tells Izuku about Kouta’s parents, we have this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Smiling wide, as if to say... there’s no one he can’t save!!”
WHICH is a direct callback to Tomura in the Mall Scene
Tumblr media
So in the scene where he looks at Kouta’s sleeping face, he’s comparing Kouta to Tomura. Especially because, at first, Kouta acts very much like Tomura, what with talking about how much he hates Heroes
So here, Izuku compares Kouta’s dislike to Tomura. A Villain. Not that Kouta is a Villain, but maybe he thought that, with that kind of hatred, Kouta could have become a Villain
ALSO, may I add, that Izuku says this
Tumblr media
Which means he’s admitting that Tomura and Kouta are so similar in speech and mannerisms that he just can’t say anything to it. He doesn’t understand their anger, and he doesn’t know how to confront it
And the comparison doesn’t stop there
Let’s fast forward to after War Arc, where Izuku battles Muscular
Tumblr media
Muscular shakes off Izuku’s attempt to get through to him, and Izuku remembers Kouta; how he went from someone who could have potentially ended up with similar ideals to a Villain, to sweet and shy and healing from his trauma. It shows, to Izuku, that everyone is capable of healing, even if they don’t seem to want to at first
Tumblr media
And then immediately afterwards, he thinks about Tomura and how, just like Kouta, he has the potential to heal too. Like Kouta, he can heal and be saved
The thing with this scene is that Izuku is thinking from two ends of the spectrum. In his mind, he is thinking about how Kouta ended up healing and happy, while in front of him is an enemy who doesn’t want to change and won’t accept any attempt at communication
In his mind, he is thinking about how Tomura could end up on either side of this. He could end up a Kouta or a Muscular
But the thing is, looking at both sides, he thinks of Kouta first before he thinks of Tomura. Kouta is a kid who was crying and suffering, and The Crying Child within Tomura was doing the same as well. Izuku saved Kouta. Izuku can save Tenko therefore Tomura
The question is how he will do this. How will he treat it? How will he confront Tomura?
When looking back at the chapters, I got to the part where Izuku confronted Kouta
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which... ended terribly. Izuku tried to understand, tried to get through. He even used his own example and his own experience to try to connect. At first I wondered if Izuku would try to confront Tomura the same way
My reaction to that thought is: I should think not
Izuku has come a very long way since this moment. His development in saving, with Shouto (psychological but not knowing what he was doing - he didn’t set out to save him but thats what ended up happening) to Kouta (trying a half-hearted attempt to connect but eventually saving him and his heart) to Eri (connecting with her problems with her quirk and focusing on saving, eventually helping her smile again) was a progress that took learning from experience to perfect. After all of that, I should think Izuku has learnt more from this interaction with Kouta and the following people that simply just trying to convince Tomura won’t cut it
The big thing with how Izuku reacted with both of them was trying to understand. He tried to understand Kouta’s reaction to Heroes and that didn’t end well, and he discussed the same with Tomura
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That he couldn’t understand him. He couldn’t see why he would feel the way he did about Heroes, just like how he couldn’t understand Kouta’s reasoning. He only tried to talk about it with them
But then Shouto brought up the very important factor of actions with words
Tumblr media
Which, after that, Izuku does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with Eri
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Tomura, another victim, there were nothing but angry words and action in the war. BUT it can also be argued that this moment below, where Izuku realizes Tomura needs saving, can also be put with this collection: it’s not a completed save, but one in the making. One that foreshadows the completed save that will happen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Izuku needs to save more than ever. He needs to put his words into action. Maybe this time will have a perfect blend of understanding (that Tomura is in pain and hurting), words and action. Maybe Izuku saving Tomura will have every single part of saving blended all into one
And maybe idk, the future will hold a positive comparison to Tomura and Kouta. Or no comparison at all, because Tomura and Kouta are similar but not the same. Where Izuku can look between the two and realize that both were different circumstances but both were similarly hurting, needed somebody to see their pain and help them
Thank you for reading my ramblings

Pro hero Deku is asked a lot if questions about his love life (no he's not dating kacchan, no he's not dating shouto, no he's not dating ochako she's married what the hell) and at some point he decides to get himself a boyfriend just for it to stop. Fake ofc, but no one needs to know that. He just wants some peace and quiet.
But of course the questions dont stop, if anything they're starting to get worse, only his mom seemed so happy that hes dating someone and now he's committed damn it, and the stories keeps getting more elaborate and like, maybe this was a bad idea but he's in too deep.
And he's also sort of growing attached to his fictional boyfriend, cause he seems like a cool and competent dude, izuku would not mind dating him if, you know, he actually existed.
Plot twist: hizashi is always one to stay on top of hero news, he loves and lives vicariously through gossip with nemuri any chance be gets, so he definitely keeps track of all the clues deku gives about his secret boyfriend (bc the nr 1 hero having a secret boyfriend is Grade A Gossip, and hizashi is intrigued and yearns to know more) and it's all fun and games until hizashi starts to grow suspicious that he KNOWS this secret boyfriend, that he is BEST FRIENDS with this secret boyfriend, and why the hell hasn't shouta told hizashi personally??? How dare???
Oh oh yes yes this is perfect.
And it gets even better because of course Hizashi is gonna confront Shouta. Of course he is. Shouta’s breaking some sacred best friend rules by not telling him that he’s been dating the #1.  Like, Hizashi understands the want/need for some level of privacy, really he does, but surely he should be exempt from that. Bro Law and everything.
So of course this means Shouta gets a phone call at like 5 in the afternoon when he’s actually trying to get some sleep.
“SHOOOUUTTTAAAA,” Hizashi screeches down the line so loudly that, even though he’s laying down alone in his own apartment, Shouta can’t help the way his quirk activates on instinct.
“What.”
“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL MEEEE?” Hizashi sobs dramatically down the line.
“Probably because you always act like this,” Shouta huffs. “But I also have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“I’m your best friend,” Hizashi prattles on.  “You could have at least told me, I can keep a secret you know?  I wouldn’t have told anyone, probably.”
“Hizashi,” Shouta breaks in.  “What. Are. You. Talking. About?”
“You’re Deku’s secret boyfriend!!” Hizashi announces victoriously.
Shouta pulls his phone back enough to stare at the screen for a moment, brows furrowed, before he brings it back to his ear.
“Have you been kidnapped?” he practically barks the question out.
“W-What?” Hizashi sputters.  “NO! Sho what the hell?”
“What’s your safe word?” Shouta demands.
“Meatloaf,” Hizashi replies instantly. “Wh-”
“Are you trapped, currently bleeding out, injured, or in need of backup?” Shouta spits the questions out rapid fire.
“No, no, no, and no,” Hizashi answers back just as quickly. “I’m perfectly fine and at home, just wondering why my best friend hasn’t told me about his secret affair -”
Shouta hangs up.
Hizashi’s in no danger which means he doesn’t have to humor his ridiculous bullshit right now when he could be taking a nap.
His phone rings for the next ten minutes straight before Trash comes toddling into the room and curls up on top of it to go to sleep.
~~~
It doesn’t end there. Because of course it doesn’t.
Hizashi keeps badgering him about his supposed love affair with Deku of all people, the #1 hero Shouta’s never even met in person before.
Mainly he ignores Hizashi whenever he starts in on the topic or tries to badger him for detail that don’t exist.
But then...
Then it comes to a bit of a head when Shouta gets dragged out for drinks with Hizashi, Nemuri, and Tensei like they normally try to do every other week or so if possible.
Only this time they’re not the only pros at the dive bar they end up at.
Because Joke is there, because of course she is, because the universe officially hates Shouta.
Joke is an excellent hero, a good teacher from what he’s heard, and overall a nice person but Shouta only has enough spoons for a select group of people in his social life and sometimes even that’s pushing it.
Joke with her constant laughing, her attempts at comedy without her quirk involved, and her insistent need to constantly hit on Shouta is someone who drains him faster than should be possible.
Only this time it’s different.
They’re a few drinks in when Joke tries to slide her way into the booth beside him, a grin already stretching her mouth.
And while normally the others would just laugh and smirk and leave Shouta to suffer, this time Hizashi steps in.
“Yeah, no,” Hizashi slides the drinks he’d gone to collect onto the table and then shimmies his way in between Joke and the booth to steal the seat right beside Shouta instead.  “Seats taken.”
“Awwww,” Joke pouts, “don’t be like that.  Why’re you trying to get in the way of me and Eraser’s love story?”
"Find someone new to hit on, sweetheart,” Hizashi tips a look at her over his shades.  “Nemuri’s always free you know? Our Shouta’s a taken man now.”
There’s a sort of collective spit take around the table.
“What?” Nemuri croaks from where she’s trying to clean what looks like cream off of her face.  “Are you two ...?”
“Oh no, not us, we’ve told you that before.” Hizashi waves a hand in front of him with the ease of an argument they’ve all had more than once over the years.
“Then?” Tensei prompts.
Hizashi leans forward across the table, expression turning sly and secretive, the rest of the group leaning in as well, anticipation practically wafting off of them.
And Shouta immediately knows where this is about to go.
“Our Sho’s been keeping secrets,” Hizashi sing-songs.  “But honestly I can’t believe it took me so long to put it together when the clues were right there.”
“Get on with it man,” Nemuri orders.
“Our unkempt goblin friend is dating none other than the adorable and stacked force of nature that is our #1 hero Deku,” Hizashi throws his hands up in a ta-da sort of gesture.
For a long moment there’s silence.
And then every head at the table swings in Shouta’s direction all at once.
For a split second Shouta debates on nipping it in the bud, putting an end to this ridiculousness once and for all.  But then he stops, thinks about it, flicks a look towards Joke and quickly runs through the list of advantages having a fake SO could provide him with, and immediately course corrects.
“It’s a secret,” Shouta deadpans.  “We’re deeply in love.  Tell no one.”
Which, of course, means that by the time Shouta rolls out of bed the next afternoon everyone knows.
The Glitch
I get the Broken Reality au is a haha funny joke but there’s been some legit great art for it and since Butterfly is over and I haven’t gotten into the groove of my other projects yet, I decided to try some flash fiction of my interpretations. Note that this is very small and informal; I used whatever idea came into my head over the course of an hour or so instead of the weeks of planning that go into my usual fics. This was an experiment for fun. But if people enjoy the concept, I may be tempted to expand on it.
Credit to @lollitree @moonpaw @gentrychild @owlf45 and @cyber-phobia (I’m sorry if I missed someone I lost track of how many people were involved in this mess).
Content working for reference to infant death.
Please enjoy!
The city shut down for a typhoon warning.  Thunder rumbled in the distance.  Dark clouds blocked the sun so much that by mid-morning it still looked like it never bothered coming up.  And yet the humidity made it too hot for coffee.  Inko didn’t know how to feel.  Work would have been a good distraction.  But she didn’t want any coworkers or clients to see if today got to be too much.  And it was already shaping up to be.  She caught herself making two plates of food for breakfast.
Inko sat alone in the kitchen.  She couldn’t bring herself to finish her own plate.  Sickness set in fast.  The food had been cold for a long time before she summoned the strength to get up and throw it away.  Then she stood over the open trash can a while, debating whether to try and hold it together, or just throw up and get it over with.  She eventually managed to keep her stomach steady enough to go back to her bedroom.  There was another trashcan in there anyway.
A sound stopped her.  From her office.  The distinct sound of something heavy falling onto the carpet.  Right as she walked past the door.
Please not this again…
She opened the door with her eyes closed.  Her mind conjured a familiar image.  A bedroom full of books and hero posters.  Bright colors and personal touches.  A child’s room.  Inko opened her eyes to her drab home office.  Some of the older case file binders slipped off the pile again.  She really needed to sort those into storage. Not today though.  She didn’t bother to pick it up.
Inko walked faster than normal the rest of the way to her room.  She doesn’t want to face the temptation to search for old toys she remembers storing in the empty closet.  Or search the walls for scuff marks from action figures tossed into them she could always see even after the walls were painted. She hid her planner on a tall shelf and put the ladder away to make it that much harder to go through it over and over looking for doctors’ appointments and school events she knew were coming up.  Finally reaching her bed brought no comfort.
Of course she knew today’s date by heart.  She hadn’t put it on a calendar in the fourteen years since she used to look at it every day.  Inko stuck her head under her pillows, as if they could block out the silent noise of her memories.  Memories of before, the time even when she was by herself, she was never alone.
Fifteen years now, today.  With a shuddering gasp, the tears finally came.  Thunder crashed outside.  It’s not fair!  Why is it still this hard after this long?  Phantom kicks in her belly joined the growing ice there.
The hardest part was she still felt like that sometimes.  Like she wasn’t really alone.  Inko didn’t believe in ghosts, but the lost of what could have been was more than haunting enough.  She felt it watching her.  Judging her. Waiting just long enough for her to settle down into a peaceful, content existence before it reared up to plague her heart all over again.  Cliché hauntings like spooky faces in the mirror or blood coming out of the drains would have been preferable.  Those would be generic enough not to remind her directly.
Rain started outside.  Her phone lit up with a notification she ignored in time with a thunderclap.  The storm was getting closer.
Maybe I should call Hisashi, the thought crossed her mind.  Maybe he’s going through this too.  She bit her lip bloody.  Her frustrated memories weren’t in question like the others.  Probably not though.  I don’t want to talk to him anyway.
Hisashi had been stuck in the denial stage of grief, which often came off as him acting like he didn’t take hers seriously.  Not a year, not even half a year looking back, after they came home from the hospital, he wanted to try again.
“We can’t let mourning hold us up forever,” he said.  “And it’s not like we lost a once in a lifetime opportunity!  We’ve got at least another twenty years to keep trying!”
But we did lose him! she had wanted to scream.  Still did, years later.  Why didn’t he understand?  He was your loss too!  Inko wanted for the next roll of thunder, then shouted.
“I don’t just want any baby!  I want Izuku!”
The lights went out.  The temperature rose five degrees instantly when the ceiling fan stopped going.  The rain stopped.
Power outage.  Inko sat up with a sniffle.  Turns out the notification was a warning about roving blackouts.  Of course.  Oh well. I wasn’t really in the mood to cook tonight any-
Thunder boomed even louder than before, making her jump.  Then another.  Lightning flashed outside at the same time.  It was right on top of her.
What?  I thought the typhoon wasn’t supposed to make landfall until later toni-
Another crash.  It vibrated through her bones.  Then another. The lightning lit up her whole room. Except for a shadow on the wall. Inko jolted to look, holding her breath, and found only her own shadow in the next flash.
“I’m such an idiot…”  She went for her phone again.  For peace of mind, she decided to use her data to check if an evacuation order went out. Or any updates at all really, since the weather came so much faster than the news said.  “Nothing,” she sighed annoyed.  “I hate being alone for weather like this…”
A new notification pinged.
[Mom]
Inko blinked rapidly.  The message remained.  All of her insides turned inside out in an instant, and she started crying again. Was this someone’s idea of a sick joke? No one ever got a chance to call her that.  She touched the note to open it, but nothing happened.  No app or source was displayed.  Nor did it go away after a few seconds like normal.
“Wha- What’s going on?” she wept.  In a mix of sorrow and rage, she wound up to chunk the device across the room.  But she froze.
Outside her window, floating against the pitch-black sky, were two small orbs.  Perfectly circular and glowing.  Watching her. She didn’t dare move.
Another ping.  She looked without moving.
[I’m sorry]
“…  What?”
For a moment, all the sounds in the world dropped out.  They all came back at ounce.
Lights flickered.  Both the ones inside and the lightning going outside.  Multiple strikes laid on top of one another.  No relief.  Thunder pounded over and over like a drum solo.  It shook the whole building.  Inko ran into the closet away from the window.  She slammed her hands over her eyes but it didn’t help.  Her terrified cried were whispers to the screams of the storm.
A child’s scream.  She heard it. Each flash of light came with a cry. The distinct sound of a little boy calling out in pain blended with unyielding nature.  It came from every direction.  Every hair on Inko’s arms stood up in fear.  She felt the charge in the air.  But she had to go out.  Her baby was crying for help.
She burst from the closet into the living room.  All the lights and appliances turned themselves on and off.  The TV showed only static between its flashes. Something drew her too it.  The storm was deafening.  It pounded through her head like a heartbeat.  The beats got faster.  The static flashes started to look like a face.  Her usual caution was abandoned as she fell to her knees and touched the screen.  The snow cleared for a single instant.  Just long enough to look like the blank eyes from the window.  She felt the heartbeat there too.
Then it stopped.  All of it. The noise and lights all went quiet and dark.  The TV went completely cold in an instant.  Inko, stunned, palmed over it looking for something.  Anything.  The pulse. Warmth.  A burnt fuse or faulty wire.  But nothing.  The rain started again.
She pulled her hands back to her lap.  Her heart was still racing and tears kept flowing down under her chin. She looked around.  Everything in the living room and kitchen looked the same. No sign of the earthquake-like convolutions the whole appartement experienced only minutes ago.  Inko combed the entire space for evidence.  An object knocked off the shelf.  A picture frame fallen from the wall.  The notifications.  Toys in the closet or scuffs in the wall.  Still not a sign.  She even stepped outside her door to check the sky.  Only light rain and shattered thunder, just like the news said the day before.
There was only one thing out of place.  Back in her bedroom, the bottom drawer of her nightstand hung open.  Inko had to steal herself before approaching it. There were only two things in there: a little green blanket, and a picture of the ultrasound.  The most recent one from her last appointment. The doctor said he was doing fine.
“Izuku…” she whispered to it in her hand.
She remembered the squealing little bundling being put in her arms for the first time.  The first time he smiled at her.  Teaching him to walk, then immediately launching into play.  Him coming home with bruises and scrapes after the kids at school were mean to him, and crying in her arms.  Then, him coming home with his first real friends in a long time. She made them all dinner. Katsudon.  That was Izuku’s favorite.
Only she didn’t remember.  The same way she didn’t really remember the toys and scuffs.  Those were fantasies.  Daydreams of what could have been.  She just thought about them so often they felt like memories. Especially today.  It was his birthday after all.  They’d fade back into vague dreams by tomorrow.  They always did.
And she would be left with reality.  The silence.  The cold, still little hand between her fingers.  Soft cheeks without blush.  Eyes that never opened.  Clutching him too tight to her chest, knowing the second she let go he would be gone for real and it would all be over.
But it was never over.  Inko went through this same torturous song and dance every year for fifteen now.  All the guilt and dread would subside slowly over the next one, until it all came back at once.  Just like this.
At least it’s done for now, she tried to reassure herself, climbing back into bed. It still wasn’t even noon yet.  Plenty of time for another breakdown.  Hopefully the next one won’t be, feel, as loud.  She sighed heavily into her sheets.  This sort of thing can’t be normal.  I should really try therapy again.
Against her better judgement, she kept the blanket out, and clutched it to her chest.  Static electricity pricked her fingers.  With her other hand, she reached across the bed, and tried to imagine someone else there. Not Hisashi, never him anymore.  Izuku.  He was fifteen and happy, but the storm was making him nervous so he came to lay beside her.  She remembered it like it was now.  If she closed her eyes, she could feel his warm, soft skin, with a healthy, if a little anxious heartbeat just underneath.  The mattress warped as he sighed.
“We’ll be okay.  It’s just a little rough weather,” she promised.
“Okay, Mom,” Izuku answered quietly.  “…  I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for.”  I’ll start trying to get myself together tomorrow.  For now, let me have this.
Izuku didn’t respond for a while.  “I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.  Happy birthday.”
