Sure, not a problem anon. Also, I know it's short... But trust me, I wrote it well. At least I hope so.

Summary: (Y/N) a good hacker who also work on their suits

Warnings: (Y/N) is just good, nothing particular,

(Y/N) was smart and his IQ rivaled Lucius Fox's and Bruce wanted to develop that mind even more. (Y/N) was adopted when he tried to hack into the Batcomputer and he became a family member within a few weeks. Everyone loved him, but Tim loved him the most. (Y/N) wasn't made for the field, so he stayed with Alfred to hack and work as an Oracle number 2.

Bruce enjoyed how fast he could hack into the comms, lines, track... It was much more easier and the boys made it known to (Y/N) that he is the best. Tim also said that (Y/N) is the number one hacker and that he is the king.

(Y/N) often laughs when he hears it as he hacks away on the Batcomputer. Alfred chuckles as he serves them both tea to drink during the night. (Y/N) was also in charge of making sure that the Batcomputer and security are secure as they can be.

Bruce made sure that he is rewarded for his efforts and Tim would try to hack in as a test, but (Y/N) is just too good. Even Lex said that whoever hacks for Batman is good. (Y/N) got an ego afterwards, but he didn't show it.

Bruce paired him up with Lucius and (Y/N) has officially flourished. Officially. Lucius was very knowledgeable and (Y/N) was almost like a sponge, taking in everything he could. Bruce made him an intern too, so he has some money on the side for himself to spend on what ever he wants.

(Y/N) couldn't be happier with the arrangement. It was just amazing to have somebody pushing you to be the best and develop your intelligence. Thankfully, Bruce is a nurturing type and he made sure to nurture his intellingence.

Of course, Bruce just didn't do it to (Y/N), but also to his other children too. He wanted his children to be the best of the best and if that meant making sure that some of their weird demands were met. Sometimes he wondered how he manages to do this as a single father.

Lucius took (Y/N) under his wing and (Y/N) has been getting into making suits and Lucius has been nothing but supportive. (Y/N) has been learning a whole lot and it made him feel happy. That's how he started inventing on his own in the cave.

There were a lot of time where Bruce had to drag out (Y/N) to go to sleep. (Y/N) and Bruce would fight at times because (Y/N) just wanted to work to create something useful for them, but Bruce said nope and dragged him to bed, then squeezed him tight.

(Y/N) has tried to get out of Bruce's hold, but Bruce spooned him rather tightly. It was not fun, but it felt nice, (Y/N) couldn't say no to affection. He did complain, but it was too keep up an image.

Image that has been shattered, but nobody had the heart to tell him that his image has been shattered a long time ago.

I feel like one of the very best ways to catch Bruce’s attention is to steal something of his. Like passing him when he’s out as Brucie Wayne and stealing his watch right off his wrist or something like that.

Or if you’re feeling really bold, go Jason’s way and steal the tires right off the batmobile. But unlike Jason you actually succeed and make off with the wheels. Jason would have such a field day with this fact, and make the first comment about adopting you into the family.

Depending on your age it would take some more for Bruce to decide you needed to be part of the family. If you are a minor, he would immediately be more likely to just pick you up like a stray kitten and bring you home. This is especially true if you don’t have a very happy homelife.

If you are older, he does some more background checking, especially if you’ve done other crimes. To his joy you don’t deal with the rogues and mainly run solo, this has placed you in some hot water with some of the gangs and other criminals though.

He goes out of his way to keep an eye on you, and he’s honestly really impressed with how skilled you are without training. You are able to sneak under most people’s noses, even his own at times if he wants actively keeping an eye on you.

You are honestly so confused when Batman starts popping up near you, and at first you think hes gonna rearrange your ribcage like he does other criminals, but he’s actually? Asking if your, okay?? And offering you first aid???

You are even more confused when you get hurt during one of your attempts to steal from one of the rogues, and Batman brings you to a doctor? Just like that?? He even stays until you’re good to go, and you’re pretty sure he followed you home just to make sure you got home safe.

You probably end up going the vigilante way all on your own without batman’s help, because you are already on most of the gangs shitlist, so why not actually get them caught right?

Little did you know, Bruce was waiting for this very moment to swoop in and play great teacher and moral compass.

You honestly can’t say what happened. Because from one day to the next you have bats hanging around you when you go out as your own vigilante title.

Nightwings pretty cool, Red Hood tells you to just get used to Batman being like that, Red Robin is chill to be around, Robin definitely does not like you whatsoever, at least in the beginning.

After getting extremely hurt during one of your stakeouts, you aren’t brought to the doctor you have been brought to in the past. You pass out from blood loss and wake up in a medical ward, in a,,,cave???

Batman is there and he actually seems worried for you, and it honestly means something as the Bat has just somehow wormed his way into your heart and you into his. The whole Batclan piles around you as you have woken up, and one thing leads to the other and you learn their identities and move into the Manor

Congrats you’ve been adopted by Bruce Wayne and have become one of his many crime fighting children. He will definitely make sure you are better trained and have better gear when you go out form now on though.

Leo walks in halfway through the makeover, is having flashbacks to Donnie's MCR phase and hurting (for people who struggle to read the text it has the lyrics to "dear maria count me in" int eh background, and "an ungodly amount of eyeliner" pointing at Rise Casey)

Gonna share here some comments that I found on Twitter about the space that Sammon had:

Jin:

"Jin character is to represent the normal ppl growing up in a normal family (wealthy fam & good environment) with the mindset of everything will be good, this world is beautiful just like what he has learned & seen but one day when he faces the real & big disappointment in life… and Dr. sam talked about the dynamic and the conflicts of Jin’s character"

White:

"White’s character is the real outsider who is a completely unfortunate person and he represents the innocent who got affected by Tee’s actions"

New's father's death:

"The death of the father of New and Non at their mother’s funeral was dr. sam’s idea and she said she’s so sorry for the trauma this scene created but she wants to push New’s character to the point that he feels the pain like suffering in hell"

Sammon's answer on whether Phee still loves Non:

Phee’s POV: Non cheated on him so it’s something that when time passes, his love for Non is still there but somehow faded away. Beyond that is Phee feels immense guilt bcuz he told Non to get lost and d*e

The Flashbacks:

Dr. Sammon said at first they planned to have the flashback since ep.2 of DFF. The original plan was the series will run in sequence with the flashbacks inserted along the way but they decided to change to have the first 4 episodes focusing on the present days without the background of the characters. After the past had been revealed in Act 2, the audiences will go back to find any clues left in ep.1-4 to connect the dots.

Sammon said in her opinion having to live knowing you killed your loved one is the worst ending of all so she gave the worst punishment to tee - cr. kiiramei

New & the ending:

Asked if a listener was sure that New was dead and said that at the end they are still in the house (but offered no clarification as to the fate of the characters or where in the timeline in the last episode 'still in the house' means)

Kreng:

Definitively stated that Keng is a predator and Non was being groomed.

Uncle Joe:

Was arrested and died

Non:

Non is artistic and New is academic kid. New focused on study so their Mom will not pressure Non, but it strained their relationship, which New plan to amend after returning from England. Non is typical who draw, write, manga etc. That's why the script is important for him. It's the first time someone believe in his ability, he got some friends in the way and also he want to show his parent that he also had something he want to do (art).

Some Redacted Characters Playing Phasmophobia Headcanons

For any of y’all who don’t know, Phasmo is a kinda glitchy ghost-hunting horror game where ya gotta gather evidence to figure out what kind of ghost is haunting the “map” go watch someone play it, I think it’s hilarious

I’m not gonna play that game myself but I can watch others play it no problem

Shaw Pack

David straight faces through everything. Never sounds scared over the voice chat

Angel is laughing right next to him because he does have a death grip on their leg

Asher never turns his radio off so everyone can hear him at all times

Is also 100% fearless and knows all the background lore hints by heart

He still screams if he gets got by the ghost though

Milo. Yelps. At. Everything. And jumps

Like seriously if Asher puts something down too close to Milo, he will jump

Sweetheart is sitting nearby laughing their head off

Darlin’ plays with their mic muted unless absolutely necessary so their packmates don’t hear them yelp when something startles them

However they are also very efficient and ridiculously lucky when it comes to hiding and surviving hunts. Even better than Asher and he’s totally not bitter about it

That said Darlin’s not afraid to let the ghost get them in order to mess with the others by leading the ghost right to the boys

Milo’s totally not holding a grudge over it

The mates also have nights where they play together but Sam is kinda grumbly so his mic and controls are co-piloted by Darlin’

When the mates play together Angel always charges in headfirst, bold as brass, and ends up somehow doing most of the work and not dying even when their sanity stat plummets. They ignore almost all of David’s advice sitting next to them because they’re better at the game than he is

But they also scream and jump a lot more (most of it for show to entertain their friends who always get a good laugh out of it)

Despite being almost as good as Asher, Baaabe almost always gets got by the ghost first

Usually because the ghost was chasing Sweetheart and true to their Stealth nature even in a video game, they broke its line of sight and hid and the ghost caught sight of Babe

Sam is usually… there. When it’s Mates Night Game Night he stays in the van/truck. Darlin’ is the loudest backseat gamer

Darlin’ drags Sam into this game

Vincent loves this game

Lovely takes a long time to come around on it because being hunted in the dark by an unseen force kinda reminds them of Adam

Sam doesn’t know how literally anything works to the point where Darlin’ and Vincent tease that he’s refusing to remember what all the items do on purpose. Vincent calls him an old man and Sam shoots back that Vincent was literally born one year after him and just turned younger and to shut his damn mouth

Which of course makes Vincent laugh harder

Lovely eventually tentatively starts playing the game because of how much Vincent is laughing with Sam and Darlin’

And over time Lovely gets really good at it. A lot of it seems like dumb luck but no. They’re just good

D.A.M.N. Fam

First of all, the four-person multiplayer limit means Gavin/Freelancer and Huxley/Damien take turns and eventually Lasko and his Water Elemental I presume

Sometimes Damien and Huxley are both on the game and Gav/Freelancer swap, sometimes vice versa, etc.

Lasko screams at everything at first, but as he slowly learns the game he actually becomes the best at recognizing the patterns of each ghost type’s quirks

Damien tries so hard to get good at the game and never seem scared but Huxley’s laughter over the mic always clues the others into when Damien got spooked by something

Huxley jumps occasionally but usually just does whatever Lasko instructs him to do with a “sure thing bro” and his usual chill attitude

Although when he does jump there is always an audible thump over his microphone of his knees hitting his desk

Gavin and Freelancer honestly spend the whole game night messing with each other. Trying to jumpscare one another

Or Gavin is pretending to try to seduce the ghost and the lewd noises he makes while talking to the ghost with the spirit box with the radio on totally don’t make Lasko turn as red as a tomato

To their credit, Freelancer does try on their turn. It’s not their fault they get super focused and then Gavin putting a hand on their shoulder to ask if they want a snack makes them shriek much to the amusement of their friends

Lasko’s Water Elemental is even more chill than Huxley and played this game for ages before meeting the group and does their own thing but always to the benefit of the group. Rarely uses the voice chat for more than a few words announcing their intentions. “Power has been turned on.”—“Freezing temperatures confirmed in the upstairs back bedroom. That’s where the ghost is.”—“The ghost is hunting.”—“Okay. Hunt’s over.”

Freelancer and Gavin refuse to show this game to Caelum

Freelancer occasionally announces a false hunt to freak out the others—and almost always a real hunt starts right as they admit they were messing around and they’re the first to get got

If Freelancer isn’t down first it’s Huxley, who will purposely draw the ghost’s attention to protect his friends

That said the whole group usually survives the whole expedition each round once they get good at it

Misc. Bois

Aaron doesn’t play but Smartass does. Aaron becomes a decent backseat driver for lore

Elliott and Sunshine actively sabotage each other and mess around more than they pay attention. They still get everything done correctly anyway

Starlight plays occasionally and Avior never does but he will watch and he is the absolute best pattern recognizer and the best backseat gamer

Guy loves this game to pieces. Sometimes it makes Honey jump. They do play with him a lot but Guy is better at it

Ollie is the Actual Best at this game but no matter how much he plays it and “Gits Gud” as it were, he still gets spooked. His partner will play but not necessarily understand everything they’re supposed to be doing

The Project Meridian bois don’t have time to play right now. Please leave a message and they’ll call you right back

Geordi gets so easily spooked by the noises but he loves the game anyway. When things are happy and fine Cutie gets a kick out of listening to his frantic thoughts

Morgan can’t See his own future so the mystery of what’s going to happen is quite enjoyable because it’s the opposite of meeting new people and immediately knowing them better than they know themselves by Seeing their entire future

Blake can See his own future so the game isn’t fun and he knows what it’s going to be every time

at the end they decide that they approve of him

he should watch him back if you guys have a nasty break up though (warned by any male family member of urs)

“haha, just don’t break her heart” one of your uncles says to schlatt, laughing and shaking him as schlatt laughs nervously

at the end of the day as long as you’re happy, they’ll be happy

(slight spoilers for the latest Wayne Family Adventures episode s2 e113)

So, while I did enjoy the brotherly bonding between Dick and Damian, me and my friend noticed something. Dick was Batman.

Yes, it’s obvious and was probably mentioned before at some point, but since me and my friend, we’ll call her Loki (a nickname) are new to the fandom (we literally joined around July of this year, 2023), we are constantly learning new things and getting context.

But our realization is that, to some extent, Battle for the Cowl and Red Robin:Grail (amongst other comics in that arc) are canon in WFA.

Again, we’re not sure to what extent, hopefully not as drastic, but for some reason Dick had to be Batman for an extended period. While me and Loki hope that maybe Bruce only got injured and to sit out for a period of time, I don’t think that’s the case. WFA is known for being one of the most lighthearted BatFam comics, but that doesn’t mean it’s all fun and games. We know Jason died by the Joker, we see him still having flashbacks and triggers. We know that Damian and Cass come from not so great backgrounds, being forced to kill at a young age. What’s to say that Bruce didn’t disappear and be presumed dead?

But here’s what makes Battle for the Cowl and WFA different, instead of Bruce’s death dividing them it brought them closer. Much closer than other media does. Sure Gotham Knights is a great example of Bruce dying and them becoming even stronger, but the fam isn’t complete. Only Dick, Babs, Jay, and Tim are there. Potentially Damian exists, but it remains unknown.

Who knows though. Again, maybe Bruce just fell down the stairs and they forced him to take a break? Maybe I missed something in one of the episodes. What are your thoughts?

Is this really your first time playing v3? Yes. I know like two spoilers (the killer and victim of trial 1, for example) and I understand the characters' personalities from Summer Camp, but I've never played the game.

Isn't it a little weird to play a killing game...game for Trans Lifeline? Yeah, but like, the fandom is super queer anyway so why not.

What is your advice on handling criticism?

I saw your response to a critic on Lore Rekindled in the sub and it's very good and you could say, professional.

I have a big problem of people-pleasing, so if I get critcism (eventhough it's very polite), I get very sad at the fact there's fault with my work (I also suffer from perfectionism). It will drastically change how I see my work, and in the end I give it up 😭

I totally get that struggle though, I know it probably doesn't seem it at times, but I do have the 'ole RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria) due to being ADHD/autistic, so I totally relate to the whole people pleasing thing. It's hard to feel like something you made isn't making everyone happy! But that's also ultimately not what it's for. You can't make everyone happy, and your art doesn't deserve to exist any less just because some people don't find it their cup of tea.

I've definitely had to like, disconnect my work from myself over the years to get better at taking criticism. Not to the point that I get apathetic, obviously I should be invested in whatever I'm working on, but enough that when people criticize my work, it's not necessarily an attack on my own self.

And if they are clearly just out to attack me, then I dismiss the criticism, it's of no value to me.

Unless it's something that's specifically a result of my own values or biases bleeding into the work, most of the time it's people literally just saying, "I like this work, but I feel like it wasn't as strong as it could have been here and here" and that has nothing to do with me as a person, I'm just still polishing my skills and those outside opinions help to target specifically what needs improving. I think we as artists pour a lot of ourselves into our work, especially when we're just starting out, so it can be hard not to take criticism as an attack or rejection of yourself, but we have to ultimately remember that we are not 100% of our work. Even with works like LO, while some of the criticism I give of it is indicative of Rachel's values and personal preferences as a person, a lot of it is also just about the work itself and how far it's fallen beyond what I assume Rachel intended from the beginning.

I've also learned to separate helpful from unhelpful criticism. I'll use Time Gate as an example because I've gotten way more input on that series than Rekindled (just because I've actually like, intentionally sought out criticism for it). A common criticism in the past was that there weren't enough backgrounds and the story's pacing wasn't concise. It sucked to hear at the time, especially the backgrounds one, because I'd heard that one time and time again... but it was literally because I wasn't doing anything to improve them. You know what stopped those criticisms? Drawing backgrounds more LOL And I still suck at backgrounds tbh but I feel like I've definitely improved compared to the first few volumes when I was just drawing characters on top of white constantly LOL

(i think there's like a 4-5 year difference between these two pages. and the backgrounds STILL aren't perfect in those newer volumes but they still feel more finished than the older panels did)

So that was helpful criticism! My art wasn't as strong as it could be in a few specific places that people were clearly able to pinpoint, so I did what I could to improve those places and I'm still working on it.

Unhelpful criticism has just been either personal attacks (not valuable) or statements that are basically asking the comic to not be what it is, criticizing things that are features, not bugs. Things like "well I think the story is too anime-like", "it's a lot to try and read", "why don't you draw eyelashes on the girl character", etc. which are criticisms of things that I know are intentional. The story's anime-like because that's the story I want to write. It's a lot to try and read because it's intended to be a longform series for people who like reading longform series (people like me!). I don't draw eyelashes on Uzuki because she would look terrible with them LMAO (we even made a joke about that later on):

(the hilarious part is that that comment was definitely made with the idea that all women should have that makeup look, meanwhile mitsuhiro's pulling off the look so much better and he knows it LMAO

And actually, the example you're referring to where I responded to crit in the ULO subreddit, is also an example of unhelpful criticism, though the person who posted it definitely didn't mean any harm by it, but the crit was literally "why aren't Persephone's boobs big enough" which I thought was pretty funny. She still has boobs! I just don't draw them popping out of her top like Rachel does LOL I also don't give her the exaggerated pinched waist or broken spine that Rachel often gives her because that's all just to, again, emphasize her boobs, and it's often unnecessary, especially in a comic that's being marketed as a feminist piece of work, yet is often drawn completely through the male gaze. So yeah, that was definitely crit that wasn't really beneficial because it was literally just about Persephone's cup size lol

I know it's easier said than done, but when you feel that sadness coming on in response to criticism, remember that that criticism exists to help you, not hinder you. Considering you've been getting polite criticism, that means the people giving it likely have your best interests in mind and want to see your work improve. The only way to do that is to learn how to critically analyze your own work, and the only way to do that is to surround yourself with works whose quality you want to achieve, and get outside opinions. And if that criticism isn't in good spirit, then toss it aside. If it's not going to help you, then it's not of any value to you. And yes, it will take practice, there are still times I find myself getting overwhelmed, but ultimately I can't control what anyone else says or does, only what I do. So I funnel that into my work and I always keep moving forward.

Be at peace with the process of learning and improving, because you never stop having to learn, there's always something new to improve, and that shouldn't be taken all doom and gloom "I'll never be perfect", that's literally just the process and beauty of being an artist, there's always something new to learn and that's something that should be exciting!

Think about whenever you give criticism or have personal critiques of other comics. I'm willing to bet most of the time, you have those opinions with good intentions, you're not trying to attack anyone. So why not give yourself the same grace?

I will say, I do hope this was worth the wait and there are noticable improvements!

Honestly pretty proud of this piece!

(Also sorry I couldn't post this earlier, I had to complete some work before finishing this ^u^')

and see! I did promise Bai He the spotlight and y'all received!

I will admit, I MIGHT have gotten a bit carried away with the embelishments and embroidery but COME ON.

I know practically speaking, there wouldn't be this much embroidery and pattern on her outfit for someone living in the wild and well... a monkey BUT STILL

I just wanted her to match with Mac and achieve that gypsy look is all! I already went full force with him so why not give a little pizazz to his daughter?

(BTW, ALL members of the shadowalkers fam will eventually get their own tulle shawl/wrap thingy. You'll just have to wait for me to design Wukong & Mk)

Headcanon that Mac & Bai He made parts of their clothes together and while Mac was busy doing his own thing, Bai He befriended a cat but it got it's paws in the paint and walked all over her shawl. Then Mac comes back to the mess and Bai He decides to keep it like that. XD

Also Bai He was learning sewing and stuff (cause she rips her own clothes so often she needs to learn how to patch it up) and did the embellishments by herself and was so proud of it afterwards. (Like if Mac can get clouds on his robe in canon, then Bai He can have flowers and butterflies on her dress)

Actually y'know what? No this isn't headcanon. This is canon to the au now.

I was originally going to place the embellishments at the hem of the dress almost like a trim, but that looked too uniform so then I remembered Mirabel's dress and took inspo from that.

Additionally, I kind of retconned the purple dress in Mac's piece. I knew pink was kind of Bai He's signature but I just didn't know how well that pastel/barbie pink would fit into the foresty background but hey! We got there eventually.

You might also notice that her wristbands are present this time!

Maybe as she got older, Macaque started teaching her how to make more stuff (he is an artist after all; made his own plays, drawings, a video game) he helped her make her wristbands.

At first they were just going to have her name engraved into it but then I remembered Macaque's lantern and how it used the character for light in it's design and I thought that was super cool so I kinda stole it for my design heh...

Mei was actually a bit last minute cause Merlin wasn't in the original shot but I wanted to give Mei some screentime too since she is rather underrated. And it was a fun challenge to shade her feathers

Not much to say bout' MK, he's just good ol Mk in this one.

I will admit the hair was a little tricky here cause again: shading dark hair is a pain in the &ss but the yellow sunlight made it a bit easier

Surprisingly the hardest part of this was the background

Progress report ! ૮ ºﻌºა ✨ kind of a work-in-progress diary for myself. v indulgent.

intense world of dick terrifying - goin good! got a main character, some supporting characters, figuring out the big rivalry today. Gotta figure out a format. I was thinking of basing it off of the Day at the Airport book bc it's only about 11 spreads but there's a lot going on on each one. Could leave it a comic but I also want it to be printable hmm catnips cantrips chooseyer-by-mail test - learning a lot! the world-building has been reallllllly fun - like the kind of fun where you want to go a little deeper bc you like it not bc you have to. perfect situation. Gotta resolve the mix between the DM roleplay and the actual postcards. Made and branded a whole gmail account and character to handle lost postcards - Pizza Kentucky III of the Isekai Post Office. Haven't been keeping up with the blog. But the blog is supposed to be more of a holding container than a 'thing'. One thing I did not expect to be learning was spreadsheets. Keeping track of names and addresses and choices and paths has given me a new perspective on pacing and structure. Also? Been a great excuse to finally play with UV epoxy and it's so straightforward that I'm mad it took me so long. media thats not just webcomics - dunmeshi is out!!! Laios my beloved. Still afraid to find and read Kotteri's Veil bc it will make me too feelings. Started reading books I loved as a kid (Redwall!!!) and some story craft books (found an NPR list somewhere) WRHP s2 - started to feel like work but changing up the backgrounds freed me up, feels fun again Sorcerer comic - paused while I wait for fashion inspiration to pull the ending together Emotional support paladin - paused till I feel like it. It's got such a specific delivery style that I don't wanna force to get the story out, so i gotta wait for some story aspects to firm up Bonnie & Clawd - more of a character study than a comic - fun to practice cutie pies cuddling. But... how DO birds and wolves smooch. Saw a youtube video about how ravens and wolves are friends and work together. So perfect. Valentines day thing - got some supplies coming tomorrow, gonna try out my idea. If it works maybe sell it? If it doesn't work, oh well, probably will learn something. Wanted to make perforated cards and stickers but got a little overwhelmed thinking about printing. Might just do a digital thing if an idea comes to me. Been wanting to make holographic stickers but when I sit down to think of a motif it feels stressful. Maybe I just test the Poodle Broadcasting System logo? I've always loved the aesthetic of valentines day but never felt like it's been delivered right. I certainly never felt indulged - something is always a little not-cute or too-cutesy. Think it could be really fun to have it be an annual 'surprise box'. I lost my halloween fam in the schmivorce so I could use a holiday to go crazy on. (For years I would drive out and help build a whole haunted house in a garage and it was like a week-long party with great food and movies and laughs. Sad to lose it, sadder still to know it was so easy for them to lose me. ) Dishupon - ok not as many players and responses as I'd hoped. But that wasn't really the point. Point was to invent some sanrio-y characters for fun - which i did. And I will also say that the exercise of coming up with a variety of cozy, fun, silly, spicy ways to think about dishes has made MY dishes mostly effortless. Even made a little foam clay Tiger coach and he's sitting on the window above the sink. Perhaps I will think of a game to get my car inspection done.

Overall January is great. Granted, it's the 4th. Had my ten year work anniversary (idk how old everyone thinks I am but it's Not 20) and got to 1010 followers on twitter on the same day. And the new d20 is out on the 10th so that felt real nice and square. Bit worried that all the good vibes I built up over holiday vacay will get smashed when I'm put on a new work project. But i feel like I'm about to level up a little bit art-style wise. Feelin grateful, feelin warm & cozy

One thing I find really interesting about Rick and Morty is that for the beginning seasons, the main villain is Morty. Obviously Evil Morty comes to mind when I say this but I think in a lot of ways, in Rick's eyes anyway, our Morty is an enemy as well. Not in a literal sense of course but, given what we know about Rick and his origins, things with the Smith fam and Morty in particular couldn't have been easy in the beginning. Rick has been the "Rickest Rick" for a long time now, wandering the multiverse with no attachments, lost in his nihilistic mindset, and now, suddenly, he has a family again. At first, it is nothing but a cover to aid in his hunt for Prime. Easily replaceable, as he has said time and time again. Nothing matters, not this family, not this reality, not even himself-- and all that reigned true until Morty came into the picture. Morty became an enemy, but not in the sense Rick is used to. Morty is not someone out to harm him. Morty is not someone to fight. The only threat Morty poses is a threat to Rick's very ideals. After all this time, Rick has found something that matters. He is learning to love again, no matter how vehemently he denies this. We've seen proof of this ranging from his sacrifice in a Rickle in Time to the paragraphs one could write about Rest and Ricklaxation. All the while, Evil Morty schemes in the background as our true atagonist of the early seasons.

And now, unrest soils their relationship. Morty has been shown to be unhappy with his treatment and new big reveals have brought a Rick villain to the stage. Prime is the build for the "Rickest rick" mentality, he's the inspiration for the cruelty and grief that has plagued every rick across infinity --- he's the very stain that soils the integrity of one hundred years rick and morty. He's the very essence of the Rick both Morty and Evil morty (hell, all mortys) hate across infinity. I think its an interesting parallel to Evil Morty, whose a representation of Rick's greatest fear; a morty who no longer cares

I mean, she let her lover try to take him down and he killed her other sons. This is something!!!

The thing is - that is yet another reason why there can be no long term happiness for the OTP - he's a pit. He's a dark pit of neediness and mess because he's never been properly loved, without ulterior motive and being used by others.

And the thing is, he's not wrong.

Even this early on, literally everyone in his family used him/betrayed him. His own mother sided with her lover over him, the adoptive grandmother cares only about her Chu state and power and has no affection for him, the chancellor (his birth father, and that's another mindfuck) lies to him he will pick him but always picks power, even it means working for the enemy state, his beloved half brother declared they are enemies after learning his mom was killed by YZ's fam etc etc. And every time he shows an ounce of softness (like with his half brother, or LBW in the beginning), it comes to bite him. No wonder he cannot have functional relationships or trust - nothing in his life has been set up for it.

And that is why the ending is what it is - that is the reason that when Li attacks him with her sword, he doesn't even think it's a feint, he fully believes she's come for his life, and he has to kill her or die. Because literally every other close person in his life, every other family member he's had, would NOT make it a feint, and would come for his life no matter how he cared or how much they professed love, if it was advantageous for them. Nobody put him first over what they wanted. And I get why he also doesn't want to die for someone who wants to kill him or use him - otherwise he'd long be dead before the end of the drama - and why WOULD you die for the one who hates you and uses you? (It's a paradox btw, he'd be willing to die for her perhaps if he knew she was willing to die for him and never would kill him, but then the very need to die would disappear. If he trusted her more, they'd have a good ending, but with his background he CANNOT trust her more. And she knows it.)

*ahem* Boys Bands -- Future Idols TR AU

In which Takemichi doesn't have to prevent Toman & co to become criminals which will only cause them suffering

But in which Takemichi has to prevent Toman & co to enter the Japanese idols world because it will only cause them suffering

Random thoughts about it:

First of all, it remains dark af; it's the Japanese idols world we're talking about after all (aKa, the deaths will happen. Perhaps in another way than in canon, but they'll be there)

Kisaki doesn't himself become an idol (although he will deal with the outside stuffs/become Mikey's agent or something like that)

Toman is just a Boys Band at first (and is boiled down to the Founders+Captains and vice-captains)

Toman will have become an idol group anyway but Kisaki speedruns the process

Mikey wants to make (dead) Shinichiro proud

·✨BLACK DRAGON BOYS BAND✨

The fact Shinichiro disbanded the idol group caused a lot of controversies, but overall every members (+fans and staffs) had to accept it. Shinichiro left it all behind for Mikey (then opened his motor shop and lived in tranquility until he died)

Backstories remain the same

Inui - althought because of his scars, he can't - somewhere deep down wants to become an idol too, since he looks up to BD. He handles security (of Izana's; Taiju doesn't become an idol, I just.. can't see it)

Koko also isn't an idol but an agent

Hanma is there to help Kisaki with security/his plan+He's the one to actively have ties with criminal organizations (he's definitively a part of it too, but nobody can prove it). If a controversy happens, Kisaki will shift the blame on him

... Takemichi doesn't remember it because ✨middle school trauma thanks to local bully Kiyomasa✨ but his childhood dream was to become Japan n°1 idol (hence, Kisaki wanting a spot at the top too (although Mikey is the idol. But Kisaki finds a way to be known too))

Mizo boys band. They never go really far, but it exists

Izana took over Black Dragon etc... Resents Mikey

Mucho leaving Toman for Tenjiku -drama

Kazutora not being known by fans & co since Shinichiro's death+his stay in juvie

Valhalla drama. Don't know how to do this one but. Valhalla happens.

Brahman has only Senju on stage

Like Inui, Kakucho and Sanzu can't be idols because of their scars. Well. Sanzu finds a way to be in the background with his mask on (+ reminder: he is ranked 3rd worst singer, so he can't have a leading role anyway)

Takemichi is having a hard time becoming an idol since he is ranked 1st worst singer - but he has to save everyone so he'll do it anyway and will stop Kisaki and his plans!

I have no idea what initial goal to give to Takemichi if Hinata doesn't die at first and I don't know how to make Hinata dies in this AU. Since Kisaki still has ties with underground activities I guess the same premise as canon works

Wakasa never sings (on stage/where fans can hear him). He is canonically ranked 2nd worst singer. His pretty boy face still helped a lot to launch Black Dragon

Takeomi's scar created a controversy and led to him leaving stage (he still helped in the background) until Shinichiro ended BD seemingly out of nowhere - aside from Wakasa's pretty face and Shinichiro's natural charisma, Takeomi's negotiation skills and his way with words helped a lot too

Bonten group has to be veryyyy careful with Sanzu and it's drug abuse since his life (and their by extension) can be entirely ruined if the public ever learns about it (welcome to Japan where idols/celebrities have to be perfect otherwise they are shamed until the publicly apologized and/or quit and live quietly for the rest of their life)

The Haitani Brothers are absolutely living it up (whether it's S-62 boys band, Black Dragon under Izana boys band, Tenjiku boys band(or idols group if they succeed to have a contract? after all they're almost all 18 now, they can't remain a little boys band forever. (-Mucho), or whatever-name-would-their-group-have in Manila timeline or Bonten) - Ran accepts his fame with open arms and Rindo is glad people listen to his music and/or songs

South gets famous bc: 1. He sings goooood (ranked n°1 best singer by Wakui (followed by Senju and Mikey)), 2. foreigner

It's the exact same reason why Senju and Mikey get famous too btw (-even if all three of them are part Japanese, but physically it's a bit hard to tell (a bit less for Mikey than the 2 others))

Ig it could be the same for Izana

Draken has to hide his tattoo to his great disarray and displeasure to not cause any controversy (+has to actively hides his upbringing)

Mikey is losing more and more what the meaning of being an idol is, and how fun it is made believed to be; how fun it initially was when they were still a little boys band having fun (if not for the deaths, being an idol in Japan in itself makes him depressed)

Their (canonical) nickname are the nicknames fans use for them (there are some others too, but those are the one everyone knows of)

I feel like Hakkai will still find a way to be in the boys band even tho he has a noticeable scar. It's bc he's too pretty, handsome, and he can sing, probably

Yuzuha isn't an idol but she still has an important fan club for some reason (she really doesn't get it and just wants to be there to help Hakkai)

Mitsuya is busy being an idol but somehow he still finds the time to draw outfits idea for the production team (sometimes he even sews them himself, they all wonder when he finds the time to sleep (and how he doesn't look like a zombie))

btw, even if Kakucho doesn't become an idol (he doesn't really care anyway, he just wants to be around to help Izana and he doesn't have to be an idol as well to do that) he sings great (a lil birdie told me this). Tenjiku/S-62 doesn't complain about being the only ones to know that

So, as I'm collecting my data for my own personal Batfam Canon, I noticed that each one of the boys has a parental figure that kinda picks them as their "favorite." Now, I absolutely do NOT wanna claim that the fam doesn't spread the love around, but any time things get really dire, that boy is most likely to turn to this figure to find someone who will really understand where they're coming from.

(Bear in Mind: This is all for my own, personal Canon. Nothing here is meant to portray how I think things "should" be, or even necessarily be an accurate portrayal of the comics canon.)

DICK GRAYSON: Dick's closest parental figure is Bruce himself. For as much as Bruce loves all of his children/protegee's, Bruce and Dick will always have a special, personal bond that cannot be broken. This makes Dick's time after their "falling out" especially painful for him: he needed the time away in order to establish himself both as a hero separate from Batman and as a man separate from Bruce, but the nasty way they left things made the one person Dick wanted to turn to not an option. After their reconciliation, Dick is the most likely of all the former Robins to be seen hanging out with Bruce in a purely social way.

JASON TODD: This one was an interesting discovery, but Jason's closest parental figure is actually Selina. This dynamic didn't really blowsom until the post-reconciliation Red Hood age, but the foundations of it can be seen in Jason's short stint as Robin, back when Selina was only slightly more hero than anti. Bruce picked up Jason only a few weeks after Dick had dramatically quit the team and skipped town, so the calm and collected rationale he'd used to choose Dick was simply not present. Jason could have been an excellent Robin, but not all children are the same. Bruce never wanted to admit it, but he wanted Jason to be a perfect replacement for Dick, and he just... wasn't. Even with the terrible family background Jason had, he was eager to please, and wanted desperately for Bruce to love him as he was, not in the shadow of his former sidekick, whom Jason wouldn't even meet until his Red Hood days. Selina Kyle immediately clocks that something's different with the new Boy Wonder, less from Jason's behavior, and more from Bruce's towards him. There are a few gentle moments mid-chase where she lets Jason know he shouldn't feel like he has to scrape the earn Batman's affection. She's learned it the hard way. He might come around in time, but if he doesn't, don't let it bother you. Be your own person. In the post-reconciliation Red Hood years, where Selina has entirely shed the anti from her hero and is starting to establish a more permanent relationship with Bruce, Selina and Jason bond far more quickly than Bruce and Jason do. They discover they're both from around Brideshead up in North Gotham and share their nostalgia, as well as their tendency for "rule-breaking" within the Batfam at large. Jason and Selina are the most likely to rib Bruce on how uptight he can be, and will occasionally go to Selina's old local hole-in-the-wall and have a few beers together.

TIM DRAKE: Tim's is another fun discovery, and a dynamic I really love thinking about, just for how odd it seems out of context and on the surface. To me, Alfred is Tim's closest parental figure. Yes, of course, Master Bruce is always number one in Alfred's heart, but Tim might secretly be Alfred's favorite grandchild. Tim was the one who was able to get Bruce back into crimefighting and begin to reunite the family when no one else could. This automatically placed Tim high on Alfred's appreciation stacking. From there, their pragmatism and Tim's occasionally 13 going on 60 attitude, creates an extremely fun dynamic, where Tim is often searching for Alfred before anyone else to run his latest conspiracy theory past. Alfred finds Tim's mind immensely amusing, and Tim thinks that Alfred is a well of information and experience that is an invaluable asset. Thursday Nights are Game Night for Tim and Alfred (the rest of the fam are invited as well, but it's not uncommon to find Alfred and Tim alone playing anything from chess to Trivial Pursuit.)

DAMIAN WAYNE: Of course, Damian's closest parental figure is fellow former Robin, Dick Grayson. Dick and Damian have an extremely rocky start, but Dick has an ineffable optimism that pairs well with Damian's obstinancy. No matter how despicably Damian behaves, or how lost he seems to become, Dick has faith in him, and this unending and unerring loyalty finally helps melt down Damian's solid steel defenses. Though Damian's behavior towards Dick might seem disdainful, Damian can often be found "accidentally" running into Dick while on patrol or at the manor. He usually just so happens to have a question about the current case he's on/a personal issue to vent about/an extra sandwich the delivery guy "accidentally" dropped off, so Dick might as well have it, and since they're both already there, they might as well sit and eat their individual sandwiches in close proximity to each other. Dick plays dumb to keep Damian from getting embarrassed.
