I think Pete's resignation scene is one of the most important in the development of VegasPete's relationship even though they don't really interact, and Pete's character arc.
Now this scene is wonderful, for many reasons, beginning with Bible's acting when Vegas sees his father's body and it hurts to watch as he tries and fails to process the cavalcade of emotions he's feeling. Then Pete runs in, Pete who was just beating the shit out of Vegas and screaming in his face, who's anger fades away in an instant as he takes in the image in front of him and knows better than anyone how Vegas must be feeling. So wrapped up in his and Vegas's internal world, he barely remembers to raise his gun as a good, loyal bodyguard would do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because until this point 99% of Vegas and Pete's relationship has taken place alone, just the two of them. This is why I have compared KinnPorsche's ep 6 forest to VegasPete's safehouse: the only way they can truly be themselves and form a basis of a relationship is when they are isolated, away from external boundaries suppressing their individual wants and desires.
Vegas and Pete have based their entire selves around external validation: Vegas has been honed into a weapon for his father to wield against the main family, basing his self worth on unattainable love; and Pete has sacrificed most of his autonomy to be a bodyguard, who switches masks seamlessly to fit what he thinks other people want of him.
In the safehouse they have nowhere to go but to each other and they strip each other bare until they're both forced to reckon with the most difficult questions: without those external forces who are they, really? What do they feel? What do they want? They see each other truly but don't know if they can stomach being seen.
This foundation is still shaky by the time it is put to the test, this whirlwind between the two of them making contact with the outside world. Vegas the weapon and invisible Pete, being perceived by others but not understood; not as individuals, and perhaps especially not together.
The office scene is really the first where they are tested like this, and what is the first thing Pete does? He calls him Vegas. Not Khun Vegas, as he should, just Vegas. In front of Korn and Kinn and Porsche. A plea to be heard over the din of grief, already revealing so much of that internal world to their spectators. Whereas before he begged with Porsche to stop questioning him about what happened, now he allows it to show, knowing the consequences will be worse if he doesn’t. The potential of losing Vegas overrides his natural instincts.
Then, the other bodyguards storm in and guns surround Vegas, Pete's being the last to join the tableau. But when Korn stands them down, Pete is also the last to leave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Vegas still chooses to shoot Korn, he's dead. And he asked Pete to be the one to kill him if he had to die. And Pete knows he can't.
He knows that he can't pull the trigger as much as he knows he couldn't stand to watch someone else do it, and if his loyalty is tested there's only one side it could fall on. Pete suddenly sees there was never any question of what he would choose at all. Nothing else matters, but Vegas.
Tumblr media
When Vegas shoves past him to leave, Pete is still trying to catch his eye (and continues to try up until the poolside scene, see rambling here) but can't. Vegas's world has just been ripped apart, he can't see Pete right now, because seeing Pete is seeing himself and his sense of self has just been shattered. Perhaps his self hatred is so strong he can't bear to see it relfected back at him in Pete.
So it’s down to Pete, who was the more conflicted, Pete who didn’t know what he wanted, Pete who couldn’t shoot and knew why even if he wouldn’t admit it to himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this little moment. Pete has to physically stop himself from running after Vegas then and there, he stops and squeezes his eyes shut for a second before forcing himself to turn back around and face the rest of the room.
He is left with only the external forces in his life present: Korn, who he has sworn loyalty to; Kinn, who’s orders he followed without hesitation; Porsche, who he risked his life for. And this is the moment Pete self actualizes. He does not make the decision other people want him to make, think he should make, the decision that would shove him back into the background, safe but unseen.
He chooses Vegas. He chooses himself. These are one and the same.
Tumblr media
He strips himself of the external trappings of the main family, and is left just Pete, who knows what he wants and what he will give up to have it. Pete with Vegas's blood in his mouth, blood he put there, that Vegas kissed there. Just Pete who loves Vegas.
And he goes to follow his heart.

Angeal and Sephiroth (And Genesis?)—Dissidia Opera Omnia—Part Two
Tumblr media
Hi there hello, I am terribly sorry for the wait, friends! I was pretty sick for the past week or so, but have recovered now! On that note, let’s dive in!
Angeal must come to terms with Sephiroth’s transformation.
We begin with Cloud meeting with Angeal after the group decided to take on Sephiroth. Cloud asks Angeal,
“Are you okay? I know I explained everything all at once…”
Angeal says,
“You mean about Sephiroth? It’s just…even though I saw it with my own eyes…it’s hard to accept when told the truth/facts. I’m sorry for slipping/showing weakness…just listen—“
Cloud stops him and says that he doesn’t mind being the one to tell Angeal everything that happened. Angeal also doesn’t need to worry about being stoic in front of someone that isn’t his direct student/cadet like Zack was.
Cloud then explains that he had become a soldier because he admired heroes like Sephiroth, though in truth, there were no heroes in the end because of Sephiroth’s transformation.
Angeal notes the following,
“Huh, just like my close childhood friend (Genesis) and Zack….all the kids my age looked up to him then, so that’s why I always thought I’d treat him like a human being…”
Tumblr media
Edit: Small translation mistake I may have made, but initially I thought Angeal said that, “He did not want to change his own attitude/way of being” in regards to how he treated Sephiroth. However, it seems my pronouns were misplaced, and Angeal is talking about Sephiroth. He says that he wants to change Sephiroth’s attitude, as in, he wants to turn Sephiroth’s heart back to the way it was.
Cloud says that he himself can’t forgive Sephiroth, but he can’t deny Angeal’s feelings on the matter, and that he understands because of receiving certain thoughts and emotions for the old friends through Zack. Cloud also graciously tells Angeal to not worry telling Zack about how much he is struggling. Cloud will cover for him, and Angeal is grateful.
Cloud then leaves Angeal, who stands and contemplates Sephiroth once again…he thinks to himself,
“Sephiroth…did you come to know of your birth? I had Genesis at that time…but you…”
Sephiroth himself suddenly appears from a portal and begins to battle Angeal. They cross swords in the manner they once did in the training room, which shocks Angeal. He realizes Sephiroth’s fighting style hasn’t changed despite so much time passing, and wonders if they are sharing the same memory.
When they separate, Angeal appeals to Sephiroth’s honor by saying,
“Sephiroth! You surely had your pride and honor as a First….and we’ve both done horrible things, so let’s bear this despair together!”
The fight continues and the others rush to help Angeal. He is still calling to Sephiroth, saying,
“Sephiroth, what is the point in destroying this world? What would be in that for you?? If this is Jenova stealing who you are, then I’ll bring you back!!”
Tumblr media
But Sephiroth merely laughs and says,
“I already have your answer. If it’s “me” that is here, then that means I chose it. I didn’t choose you, Angeal. All I need is Cloud. I don’t need you.”
This was a loaded statement, but in summary, Sephiroth is saying that he chose to do what he is doing, where he is appearing, etc..
His will is seemingly one with Jenova’s in this story, and furthermore, he only needs Cloud in order to be rooted to the world.
This calls back to the notion of “As long as Cloud remembers Sephiroth, Sephiroth will exist.”
Cloud and Cloud’s memories are Sephiroth’s link to existence.
He doesn’t “need Angeal” because Angeal is one of Sephiroth’s “inconsequential memories” that he cast into the Lifestream…
The next part is hard to translate, but Zack essentially tells Angeal that the person they are facing is simply not Sephiroth anymore, and is merely wearing his face, in a way. Rufus fully believes that it is Jenova, and that they are the same.
Cloud readies himself to fight and declares that Sephiroth will be stopped, who responds with a taunt like, “Come and try!”
Meanwhile, Angeal is in disbelief. He says,
“Sephiroth…are you….really nowhere (in there)? Did you truly abandon your pride as a human and embrace this power…?”
After the boss fight that takes place here, Sephiroth struggles to hold his ground and angrily declares,
“I’m not going down…”
The group responds with a power-charged Cloud, who receives an energy crystal boost from Rufus.
With his buffed sword, Cloud prepares to end the weakened Sephiroth. He strikes and a bright burst of energy surges forward, but Angeal’s heart gets the better of him.
Angeal rushes forward and jumps in front of Sephiroth, taking the hit for his old friend and falling to the ground in pain.
Tumblr media
The others are petrified and Zack runs to Angeal, screaming that,
“Angeal!! It’s not Sephiroth! You know it’s not him!”
Angeal says,
“I know…I understand…Indeed, his form/body may be Jenova’s but his heart and will might still remain…”
With this, Angeal stands and turns to Sephiroth, finally getting his deep regrets out. He says,
“We were the same…and I’m sorry for letting you suffer alone…”
But Sephiroth has no memory of this pain and his old friend. He says he “doesn’t know this unpleasant sight” in reference to Angeal and tries to attack again, but Zack fights him off, saying,
“Sephiroth! I know my words won’t reach you…but listen to Angeal’s calls…don’t leave that to the monster!”
Sephiroth merely brushes Zack off with one of his “puppets and traitors” accusations and vanishes, but before his voice fades entirely….he says,
“You see, Angeal….dreams and honor were fleeting/not enough…”
Angeal gasps in realization and says,
“Sephiroth….so it’s true…”
Sephiroth’s real voice seems to slip through—the angry, hateful part of him that threw away his memories and aligned his will with Jenova’s. The part that rejected mankind willingly and grew cold with fury.
Angeal understands that his old friend’s pride as a human was lost and the Sephiroth he once knew is dead. All that remains is the monster.
Tumblr media
Side Notes:
I am working on the third part to cover the third act. So far, it has been denial for Angeal and in this chapter he reached a small form of acceptance at the bitter end. Now he must prepare to fight his friend and say goodbye.
My translations may once again require some edits later, but for now a lot of contextual information has helped them make sense, even if getting them to translate perfectly has been difficult.
Angeal finally is confirmed to be the one that likely influenced Zack to treat Sephiroth as a person, another human, instead of a hero only to be admired. Angeal doesn’t want to abandon this, and clearly Zack tends to feel the same way. Angeal never idolized Sephiroth, but merely saw him as his good friend. Zack followed this example.
Sephiroth doesn’t remember Angeal, or is at least actively suppressing the memories while he tries to eliminate him. However, his agitation is evident, as he cannot fully erase his emotional state. Part of the hatred that keeps his own will alive likely includes anger and feelings of rejection in regards to his old friends. This emotion seems to bleed through his words, whether he realizes it or not.
Angeal would have taken a bullet for Sephiroth. Now we know. This broke my heart. He could have died by absorbing that energy burst from Cloud, but he threw himself in front of his friend anyway, even despite knowing that Sephiroth was not the same. Angeal loved him so much, and his line, “We were the same…I’m sorry for letting you suffer alone” was utterly weighted with regret and pain. These poor boys are killing me 😢😢
I’ll see you guys next time!

Memories, part two.☔️
Part one ^
Mildly edited, apologies for mistakes.
The Wanderer stood outside of Tighnari’s healing hut, hands squeezing the wooden bannister as he stared down at Gandharva Ville in rage. His mind was consumed with the dread of yet another person leaving him. When he had gotten you to Tighnari, you were barely breathing. His pacing had distracted the healer so he was pushed outside and left there to await news of your fate.
While you lay in the hut, oblivious to your surroundings, you enter a dreamscape. Beautiful opalescent colours cascaded around you, leading your eyes to a tree. You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. It was Irminsul. As you approached, you noticed a small figure at the base of the tree and recognised her immediately.
“Nahida!” You called out. “How am I here? I don’t understand.” You questioned and The god simply smiled.
“I heard you figured out that you once knew the Wanderer. I’m sure you are very confused. I brought your spirit here to answer some of the questions you must have.” She motioned for you to ask away.
“He used Irminsul to make the world forget him didn’t he?” You started up at the shining tree as you asked.
“Yes. He tried to prove himself by becoming a God with my gnosis and when that failed, he decided the world was better off without him ever having walked it.” She explained though you got the sense she wasn’t finished.
“He too forgot himself and became someone different. He lived a simple life of wandering. That’s how he found his new name.” She continued with a giggle at he end.
“But he seems to remember everything now. Could I?” You pondered. You had always hated not knowing things and the fact that there was some of your own life you couldn’t remember seriously irked you.
“You could. But it might be tough on your mind and your physical body is in a weakened state. Are you sure you want to take such a risk?” The God diligently double checked your consent.
“Im absolutely certain.” You nodded your head, resolve clear.
“Then let’s begin.”
Your dreamscape warped and changed until you arrived the crowded tavern in Sumeru city. You watched yourself in third person view, rushing down the thin path towards the bar to order some food, only to trip over a chair leg. You saw yourself about to hit the floor and, just like on your journey to Gandharva Ville you were caught by the Wanderer. Only he looked different, angrier and darker.
“Silly mortal, watch where you’re walking.” He grumbled as he stood you upright. You stared with wide eyes as your past self walked next to him towards the bar before speaking.
“Why don’t you watch where you’re sliding your chair out, huh?” You pointed at his chest accusingly, before quickly dropping your hand. “But thanks for catching me.” You watched yourself look away, not expecting him to answer. As you watched him laugh loudly at your retort and proceed to mockingly call you cute, things started to come back to you. This was when you first met him. Scaramouche.
The scene changed again, this time the warping was even more intense. Your senses returned to the view of Scaramouche holding you close in bed.
“You don’t have to work with him. He’s bad news, I know it.” Past you begged the man and turned to face him. You watched him push you away before raising his voice slightly.
“Yes I d -“ Warping interrupted his reasoning, but you knew what he was going to say. He had said it many times. “I have to do this. It is the only way to show them all! They have to see that THEY are nothing.”
The new scene felt volatile and unstable, warping remaining at the corner of your vision once the moment began.
“PLEASE. Don’t do this.” You saw yourself crying and pleading with Scaramouche, trying to stop him walking out the door.
“Get out of the way. I have to-“ He battled with himself not to push you when you interrupted him.
“NO! I won’t let you kill Lesser Lord Kusanali!” Instead, your past self pushed him. The warping in your peripheral vision intensified as you began remembering what came next. This was when you broke up with him. You told him if he goes ahead with his plan then you wouldn’t be able to look at him again. A voice broke through the warping and your deep thought.
“Things are getting unstable. Im going to pull you out.” It was Nahida. She was probably right. Your head was starting to ache, which doubted should happen when you aren’t connected to your physical self.
You were suddenly back at Irminsul with Nahida. Your vision still shook and you felt the overwhelming need to lie down. You took a step to sit on the path but fell instantly. Your eyes rolled back as Nahida moved your head to her lap.
“You have exhausted your spirit. Try and return to your physical body or you may be lost forever.” She whispered.
The Wanderer was still rooted to his spot outside the healing hut when Tighnari finally exited.
“I have done all I can. It is up to her to wake up now.” The healer looked tired as he spoke. “Go in. Speak to her, something tells me your voice will help guide her back.” With that, Tighnari walked away leaving a ranger outside ready to call him if something happened. The Wanderer’s breath hitched when he saw you, pale and weak. You looked so frail in that bed. Sobs escaped his mouth as he took your hand in his. All his regrets came crushing down on him. Maybe now you were asleep, he could say all the things he would tell you if you hadn’t forgotten him.
“You were right. Dottore was scum. I should never have gotten involved with him. I should never have tried to murder the Dendro Archon.” He spat in disappointment. “I was a fool. A fool to throw away the one person I didn’t need to prove myself to.” He held your intertwined hands to his mouth and gently kissed yours. “You need to come back. You won’t remember me but, I will dedicate the rest of my life to being better this time around.” His tears ran in between your hands, still held to his face.
“Somehow, I don’t doubt that.” You croaked, causing him to jump and drop your conjoined hands to the bed.
“You’re awake!” He laughed in joy. “And you heard everything.” He realised. He swallowed in fear, awaiting your rage full response. You felt weaker than ever before, but nothing was more important to you than what you needed to say.
“Though a part of me will always be furious at Scaramouche, I believe that the Wanderer is a different man. You carry a wisdom that the old you could never know of.” You smiled and shakily rubbed your thumb along your still joined hands. “I think I will always love you. Whatever iteration of yourself you are.” You admitted. His eyes softened and filled with more tears.
“You remember?” His voice uncharacteristically weak. You nodded in affirmation. His head dropped onto your shoulder, carefully avoiding your wounded area. He breathed the moment in, breathed your love in.
“You remember. You’re okay and you remember.” He had never felt so lucky as he kissed your cheek. He told to you continue your rest in peace, that he would stay with you and hold you until you felt stronger. He too was finally at peace as he brushed your hair with his free hand and watched your breathing settle into a healing sleep. He whispered into your hair.
“I love you too.”
Thank you for reading ✨

Off the Path, West of Lake Valor, Sinnoh Region, 2022 AC
Barry groaned as the straw hat made his head itching like crazy.
“Do we seriously need to wear the hats?” he asked as the two walked the pilgrimage path to the Lilligant Shrine from the Ursaluna Shrine, walking around the Great Marsh in the process.
Lucas himself was reading up on the history of the shrines, feeling like they’re close to something but he couldn’t tell what. Perhaps it was the unique bond he has with Dialga that made him experience deja vu a lot. Either a sign that time got edited again, which was annoyingly frequent in Lucas’ opinion, or that he’s getting messages from the future.
“Yes, we do need to wear the hats. Same with the face masks. The harder it is for us to be recognized, the better.”
“Right, right, we should camp out a bit or something. Get reminded of what we figured out and all that.”
Lucas nodded as he placed his book back in his bag and looked ahead. He blinked in surprise and pointed at a traditional house ahead of them by the path.
“Was that there before?”
"Huh?" Barry said as he lifted his straw hat and squinted a bit. "That… that wasn't there before."
The two soon reach the place, wondering if it's just another isolated home or, if Dawn were with them to make the comment, a supernatural occurrence.
The house, despite the traditional design, strangely has no walls protecting it from the outside world, or at least defining a courtyard.
"Oh, hello there!" a guy nearly shouted, wearing a rather traditional red kimono, as he exited the door. "I rarely get visitors."
“Ah, we’re just passing through.” Lucas explained. “Following the pilgrimage along the noble shrines.”
“I’m sure a rest stop is needed. It looks like it might storm.” the man said as he looked at the sky.
“Oh?” Barry said, glancing up and seeing a rather fast moving storm cloud heading their way. “Oh dang it.” The two entered the house just before the rain fell.
“Sorry to intrude, sir. I’m Kouki and this is my friend Jun.”
The man grinned to himself, nearly chuckling at some inside joke known only to him, as he led them inside.
“Come in, come in. I’m Bagin by the way.” he said as he led them to a surprisingly modern living room with a wall full of screens made to look like a glass wall looking out into sunny Alola, beachfront and all. It had to be television screens, Lucas told himself, since they couldn’t have ended up in Alola just by walking through a hallway. He even looked back to see the entrance they went through, still there.
“Wow, you must be an eccentric billionaire or something.” Barry blurted out.
“You could say that. I just like the aesthetic. I’m more of a collector than anything else. That and a traveler.”
Barry was already looking at the various souvenirs and knick knacks that decorate the living room. Even the paintings have a paper description below them. The strangest thing was that they were written in an unown shorthand script. Lucas and Barry were sorta fluent in it given how much Dawn loved to write in it as a code, at least.
Meisje met de parel, Girl with a Pearl Earring, by Johannes Vermeer

The “Canon”, the “Woodsman”, and the “Flute” from Kino
The First Bagin’s Bag of Holding, 2500 GP
“You have quite… an eclectic selection.” Lucas commented. Bagin simply chuckled as he grabbed a teapot and began making some tea.
“Again, I travel and collect. Sometimes the people I meet give me gifts as thanks for my help. Though that bag is actually mine. I kept it for its sentimental value. The first time I traveled around and sold my crafts. It was a learning experience.” Bagin chuckled at the memory as he placed some tea cups on the table and began pouring the green tea.
Barry went wide-eyed as he glanced at his cup. Lucas did the same. The tea has bits of gold flakes floating in it.
“Don’t worry, they’re edible.” Bagin said with a grin. “Made them myself. Hisuian gold from 1800 AC, a good year if I may say so.”
Barry and Lucas glanced at each other, a bit wary of the rather ostentatious tea that was presented to them. Bagin simply took a sip of his tea and the two soon followed suit. It was surprisingly tasty. Barry went to drink it all down to the last drop, as if it were a refreshing cup of iced water.
“Man, that’s some good tea.” he muttered.
“I’m glad you like it.” Bagin said. “I rarely get visitors, or drinking buddies for that matter. I learned that mistake when I shared my favorite wine with an old drinking buddy of mine, osmanthus wine infused with ferrofluid and quicksilver if memory serves. Let me tell ya, Ying Zheng got a massive headache for a decade or two after he went on a drunken conquering spree and formed an empire. I should have shared that with Rex Lapis instead but I thought Ying Zheng could handle it. Oh well, hindsight is twenty-twenty, I suppose.”
Lucas had no idea what to do with that anecdote.
“I see…”
Barry, on the other hand, was already on his second cup of gold flaked green tea.
“So, ancient archmage guy, are you going to mentor us in our quest or something?”
“Ba- Jun!”
Bagin just laughed at that.
“Oh come on, Kouki.” Barry said as he began counting fingers. “Mysterious house appears by the path, a sudden storm causes us to come to said house for shelter, house is clearly bigger on the inside and internally different from what the external appearance suggests, owner has a selection of strange and mysterious items with him, the extreme lack of sense when it comes to money, the ancient writing casually put on paper signs… no doubt about it, he’s clearly the wise and eccentric mentor figure that’ll guide us on our quest to call Palkia and Dialga and rescue Dawn from wherever she ended up in.”
Lucas just placed his palm on his face.
“Jun, we’re not on some hero’s journey. Besides, we already did one.”
“Just because we did one, doesn’t mean we couldn’t do it again. It’s just this time, the stakes have gotten higher.”
“Higher than the universe being destroyed?” Lucas asked with a deadpan look at Barry.
“To be fair, there’s a point where the size becomes too big that people just can’t grasp it. Why do you think movies focus on personal stories in those sorts of stories.”
“So… why do you think he’s an ancient archmage and not like, I don’t know, an alien?”
“He’s human but also inhuman in personality, enough that it has to be due to a very long life that disconnected him from us regular people.”
Bagin chuckled at that.
“I’ll take that as a complement. But your friend is right in a way. No one visits me just because. Things tend to happen for a reason, in my experience.”
“So you’ll help us!?” Barry asked, grabbing the possible lead as much as he could.
“It depends on the reason for your travel. The world is vast and who knows what sort of path you’ll make, what sights you’ll see, and what sort of people you’ll meet.”
“Well, we are on a pilgrimage to the noble shrines, starting with the Wyrdeer Shrine.” Lucas said as Barry then pulled out his rotomphone to show off his pictures.
“It’s honestly quite fun! We should totally explore outside of the routes some more. I fed some stantlers.” he then flips to the next set. “Then we saw some scyther at the Kleavor Shrine and the arena-turned-biodome. The statues of kleavor are crazy though apparently finding the black augurite needed to evolve a scyther is hard to find given how rare wild graveler have them or found in the underground.” he then took a sip of tea to rest his throat. “Then we headed to Pastoria City and into the Great Marsh area to see the Ursaluna Shrine. Very cute teddiursa and even the ursaring were friendly. There’s an ursaluna there. Apparently they had to manually make the peat block needed to evolve it so we were lucky to see an honored and seated Lady Ursaluna in our lifetime, seated in the metaphorical sense ‘cause they walk on fours. And now we’re heading to see the Lilligant Shrine. I read through, well, skimmed through, the brochure about it. They apparently converted the Brava Arena into a biodome with the right cool climate and acidic soil conditions to make petilil evolve into a part fighting type with a sun stone instead of the usual lilligant. Though they have both forms of lilligant there.”
Bagin chuckled as he watched through the photos with interest.
“And you’re both going to see the rest of the Noble Shrines in order? That’s a wonderful journey planned there, Pearl, Diamond.”
“I’m sorry, what?” Barry asked. Bagin just snorted as he blushed in embarrassment.
“I mean, you two are wearing the old Pearl and Diamond Clan tunics.” he explained, though Lucas felt that it was a weird thing to say either way.
“So, oh wise and ancient archmage, what sort of guidance would you give us?” Barry asked as Bagin hummed, hand resting on his chin.
“Oh, let me set up the ambiance.” he said as he pulled out a remote from under the table, pointed at the glass window wall, and seemingly changed the channel to Lumiose City in Kalos, then to Castelia City in Unova, then what looked like a group of space stations over a rather gorgeous yellow gas giant with massive rings. The screen seems to highlight the space stations like a scene from a sci-fi show.
Twelve Commons (Orbiting moons: Epimetheus and Janus), Saturn, Sol
Allegiance: Various Anarchist groups
“Ah, this scene’s nice. Let’s go with this one.” Bagin said before he cleared his throat, letting the darkness seemingly fill the room, making them feel like they too are in a space station lit only by the distant stars and the reflecting light from the yellow planet. “The world is vast and full of wonders. The shrines you travel to are necessary to experience and learn, though the path between them could vary greatly.” Bagin said, his eyes seemingly glow red in the shadows. “I am currently limited so I can not help you now but, as I am a pal, I can give you two gifts, one of each. They will help you at the end of your journey, on a path beyond the one you both plan. Keep them with you, keep them safe, and do not open them. They’re not exactly healthy for normal life.” Bagin said as he pulled out and placed two balm-like bags. One pink and purple tied shut with an orange string, and one navy blue and aqua blue tied shut with a blue string. “I’m sorry that I can’t help you directly, for if I intervene now, I would step on my brother’s toes.” his serious look was then ruined by an annoyed grimace.
“Ugh, I can hear him now if he notices you two are here.” he then began moving his hand at a talking hand puppet gesture. “Oh brother, why are you so lazy? Oh brother, why aren’t you keeping your apprentices in line with extra work? Now Lord Iblis took a third of your work force in rebellion and had to be banished. Oh brother, why are you skipping work looking like that? Oh brother, why are you buying and selling stuff like some commoner? It’s beneath you. Brother, why are you selling the secrets of faster than light travel!? That breaks causality and that’s my domain!” Bagin said in a poorly done deeper voice before he stopped himself. He then changed the channel of the window screens back to the scene of the Alolan beach.
“Ahem. So yeah, I can’t intervene now or I would get in trouble with my brother and the fight between archmages of my caliber can be very devastating.”
“You are an archmage!? See Lucas! I’m right this time!” Barry shouted, pointing a finger at Lucas. Lucas just sighed at that slip up.
“Ah, it seems that the rain has ended. We should finish our tea.” Bagin said as he then sipped his tea. Lucas did the same, glancing at the two bags, with the blue one facing him. He grabbed it and put it in his bag, a spot that would keep it safe. It is wise to heed the warnings of archmages. It’s like getting a warning from an actual psychic, better to listen to them than not.
Barry finished his tea and decided to take a selfie with Bagin. Bagin closed his eyes when he got his picture taken before he stood and led the two out to the front door. Lucas carried the other bag with him on the way out.
“Thanks again for the advice, oh great archmage Bagin!” Barry said as Lucas looked at the path ahead.
“I believe we’ll meet again, Barry, Lucas. May you find what you’re looking for on the path ahead.” Bagin said before he closed his door.
“Barry, you almost left this.” Lucas said as he gave the pink bag to Barry, who placed it in his bag before he realized something.
“Wait, I know I screwed up on telling your name but when did we tell Bagin my name?” Barry said as the two turned to look at the house. Only to find an empty field full of grass.
The two glanced at each other and felt the shiver climb up their backs.
“... no one is going to believe us.” Lucas muttered as they walked the path to the Lilligant Shrine.
“I’m sure Dawn would believe us.” Barry countered. “Also, we must never open the bags. Who knows what sort of ancient magics is in it. Archmage Bagin said it’s dangerous to normal life after all.”
“I know, I know. I’m not the impulsive one here.”
“Hey! I’m not the skeptic here!” Barry countered.
“Remember the plan. We’re Kouki and Jun on the Noble Pilgrimage.”
“Right, right, right.”
A moment of silence as they walked.
Barry took that to check on his latest selfie.
The image of himself in his selfie pose with nothing but what looked like a static filled abyss behind him was shown. He showed the picture to Lucas. Barry nodded.
“Okay, with this, people have to believe us.”

UNDERVERSE X GENSHIN SAGAU, IMPOSTOR AU
So we all know the sanses right? Self aware and stuff including some of the frisks and humans here and there in the mix.. even papyruses--
So what if your one of the humans who were self aware? That and you had the ability to travel to different universes without the aid of people who can already do that? (i.e: Ink, Error, Nightmare, etc) Also having similar powers to them such as regeneration, Determination, etc its your choice ^^
(THERE WILL BE NO MAJOR SPOILERS TO THE UNDERVERS AS 1. Im kinda dumb and cant keep up with the lore rn and 2. I dont know if im caught up with the episodes)
Warning! There are insults to the reader, some blood here and there, death (not to descriptive but it's still death) swears i will be censoring(edit, apparently i did not put swears. well good to be safe i guess--?), and maybe some torture...?
Your someone who got involved with this war and in an attempt to get out of it, you end up in a much, much worse situation..
"IMPOSTOR!"
"You have committed a grave sin Their grace will never forgive.."
"SINNER"
"HERETIC"
"You do not belong here"
"Die."
From the amount of times you've died and came back, you just laugh at everyone's attempts to hurt you and get under your skin. Literally. They have tried to skin you alive but you were able to get a hold of one of the weapons and kill yourself in the process.
You made it your personal goal to NEVER let them kill you, if you are ever, ever at the brink of death, YOU must be the cause. You won't give them the satisfaction of killing you themself.
Very few helped you, the children hid you, Kaeya would give you supplies, Albedo let you rest in his camp, Dainsleif and the travelers would keep you company time to time. Bennet, Razor and Fischl didn't really care if you were an impostor and hanged out with you!
In short only Benny's adventure trio, the children, and the Khaenri'ahns (i spelt that wrong didn't i?) helped you.
Genshin was a game you loved so much, but now it was nothing but crumbs to you. You soon found a way to take their stuff away so you did just that.
Their weapons, their artifacts, stripped away from them.
They think this is punishment for not getting the "impostor", so they try harder, waiting for the time they get their stuff back in the meantime.
But it never comes.
Yet they never noticed.
Soon, during one of the chases you find a... very familiar ink puddle....
Your acolytes, thinking it's a ditch, chase you to it. Which is something you use to your advantage. Calling upon the person who opened your eyes to the multiverse.
"INK!!"
"*huh...WAIT A SECOND KID, YOU WERE HERE?!"
Quickly using some of your abilities, you knock down the acolytes to make sure they dont follow you and your friend.
But Lisa, who was chasing you, has put a tracking spell on you so she can see what your doing. (I dont think a spell like that is canon but now it is--/hj)
When the acolytes with her see a 3rd person point of view, they notice something when Ink fusses over your wounds..
"*Kid... these wound look bad, your bleeding gold for g-!... Wait your bleeding GOLD?!?!"
The acolytes have made a mistake. Not wanting to watch any further, Lisa stops the spell. Reporting everything to Jean. And word spreads.
Soon the offerings, sacrifices, the everything in your name is upped ten fold. All In attempts to gain forgiveness. So many things flood into your inbox while playing the game, simply staring at the place Ink found you. You simply deleted the message. You didnt need what they had.
The acolytes were panicking, were you not satisfied?! Before anything happens, Albedo and Lisa bring them over to show what they see from the spell Lisa still has on you.
"Hey Dream!"
"Oh, heya! Did you need anything?"
"Well Cross texted saying he had a message for ya, is your phone on mute or something?" (Who was "Cross", and who is this.. "Dream" you're talking to? Lesser gods maybe? Was what the acolytes thought)
"OH SHOOT! I MUSTVE FORGOTTEN IT AT BLUE'S HOUSE!"
"...Uhh why are you panicking..? The 2 people who live there are aware of your existence it'll be fine" (..So this "Blue" must be a trusted mortal of their grace..! The acolytes were shocked, how long did you trust them?)
"Ok... you better be right. Also did you try the game i recommended?"
"You mean that childish cookie game?"
"It's not childish!"
"Mhm, ok ok I'll get it, I'll get it. What was the name of the app?"
"Cookie run Kingdom!"
"Ok... oh shoot."
"What's wrong?"
"I don't have space.."
"Maybe delete that one game, the one that was scaring you and giving you nightmares? What was it's name...." (Just what were you 2 talking about? The acolytes stared in confusion)
"Genshin Impact..?"
"Yeah! That one! Just delete that and get cookie run." (Genshin what now? And cookie... huh? Albedo and Lisa, didn't like the sound of that)
"Ok, ok, welp, Bye to Teyvat ig- I'll get it next time when I'm over my fear for it now"
The acolytes' eyes widened, they were going to be erased! They need to find a way to appease you. Now! Until..
"Hey Dream, is there a way to bring the kids of Teyvat here? Including these people?" You asked the positive guardian, showing him the people you wished to save.
"It's possible. I'll get ink to try, if you feel comfy to do so you could come with him!"
"Sure sure, ill do that"
Now they could only hope you would bring them with you. But it would be nothing but fantasy to the true heretics

Jealousy Jealousy (rewrite)

Angst -> Fluff: Embry Call x GN!reader
Summary: Embry gives y/n a slap in the face about reality after they constantly sulk about Bella.
A/N: I'm much more content with this one and I actually might end up deleting the other one, sorry about that. I actually took a lot more time editing this and didn't write this when I was burnt out compared to the other one! I'm just overall way happier with the other one because I knew that the other one wasn't my true capability.
warnings: angst (that's all I could really think of tell me if you see anything else!)

Ding!
Ding!
Ding!
Constant notifications vibrated Jacob's phone as we sat on his couch together watching the movie on the screen. I shot him a look of annoyance, signaling him to check his phone which he did swiftly. His eyes shot open in surprise before he shot up from the couch and throwing on a shirt and shoes, hopping out the door as he attempted to put the last shoe on.
"Sorry y/n! Bella just told me she was free, you know what it's been like for her!" He hastily shouted out before sprinting down the gravel driveway.
"Bye!" I shouted back, trying to hide my disappointment.
I grimaced at the situation. On one hand, I knew how the sudden disappearance of the Cullens devastated her, especially Edward's sudden abandonment but this happened way too many times. But on the other, Jacob was like her puppy dog now, it was like I wasn't even his friend anymore, it was like our friendship meant nothing.
Knowing that Jacob wouldn't be back anytime soon, I got my stuff and locked the door behind me before driving over to Emily's place to surround myself in the livelier company.
"Sup y/n! Missed me didn't ya!" Jared boomed as I opened the door to which I replied with a "you wish". I chuckled at his dramatic pain as he pretended to hold his heart, eyes shut and face contorting.
"Know where Embry is?" Questioning the dramatic boy as I peered around the room to see if I could find any trace of the lanky boy, no luck.
"Finding your loverboy huh? With the deepest of regrets, I must inform you that he was put on patrol today." He said, mocking my curiosity over Embry's whereabouts. I stuck my tongue out at him to tease him before flipping him off and leaving to the porch to await Embry.
"Knock it off Paul, it's not what you think"
"yeah sure, and if it wasn't what I HEARD THROUGH THE MINDLINK then I don't know what else it could have been"
Their voices permeated through the thick fog as their silhouettes came into view, Paul's muscly tall physique was seen locking an arm around Embry's tall lanky but lean body.
"Aw buzz off Paul," Embry said as he struggled to get Paul's arm off of his neck. He laughed at his struggle before letting go as he noticed me, shooting Embry a smirk to which a slight blush came onto his face, only noticeable as they got closer. Odd.
"Sup Paul," I smirked at him before turning my attention over to Embry.
"And hello to you too wolf boy," teasing him to which he shot a glare at me before attempting to stifle his laughs.
Paul said a prompt bye before jogging into the house to fill up his appetite whilst Embry sat down next to me, his body warmth radiating. The cold air nipped at my skin, pushing me to get closer to the much warmer boy as I swung my legs into his lap and resting my head on his shoulder.
"Jacob left again?"
A sigh left my mouth at his obvious question.
Closing my eyes promptly, I answered with a short nod. A response that showed my true feelings after all these times of being blown off by Jacob.
We sat in silence, my eyes closed as I felt his shoulders move up and down in a rhythmic motion, lulling me to sleep almost. The deafening quiet seemed to almost suffocate us before I decided to talk.
"I don't know what to do anymore Embry, I'm always there for him when he needs me but, he runs to her at the drop of a hat or more like a single text message," I grumbled, reminiscing about the times Jacob's left me in the dust for Bella, excuses sprouting up.
"Why does everyone in this town seem to be so infatuated with her," expecting no response I kept going.
"Is it because she's Charlie's daughter? Hell if I was his child Jacob would be all over me too right? I'd be the hot topic of town too, people staring at me wherever I go, being suddenly accepted by the Cullen family and Jacob. I'd really have the best of both worlds wouldn't I?" Scowling at my own questions, I turned to Embry for answers.
"Am I not right?"
Silence.
"Helloooooooo, Earth to Embry?" I said, poking his cheeks with my finger. His brows seemed to be furrowed together, eyes lost in thought, his attention elsewhere.
There seemed to be no response from him to which I huffed and turned back to stare at the fog rolling in.
Closing my eyes to embrace the serenity once more, his lulling voice startled me.
“I don’t think it’s true.”
I turned my head towards him, curiosity piqued by his response.
“Let’s be real Embry, I’d have the best time of my life if I was Bella fucking Swan. Every guy would love me, all the attention would be on me and I wouldn’t be a second option again. Hell, I’d even be able to actually confess to my crush without fearing rejection.” Bitterness laced the last sentence as I satirically spoke my mind. Looking at Embry’s hands and wishing they were embracing mine, the sudden gesture of his fist clenching as his knuckles turned white shocked me, he was mad.
“God y/n, why the hell do you always need to compare yourself to Bella? She hasn’t even done anything to you. It’s always Bella this Bella that if I was her blah blah blah. Get over yourself, you’re not her and you won’t ever be. Learn how to appreciate yourself and live YOUR life and stop moping around. So what Jacob runs to Bella each time, you have Jared, Emily, Paul, and everyone else.”
A long silence suspended in the air.
“You have me and you come running, you never see the other people around you cause you’re too busy complaining. You can’t even see how much I love you cause you’re so stuck up about being Bella and being Jacob’s priority aren’t you?” Finishing his sentence, he proceeded to get up before walking away. Stopping before reaching the woods, his back faced to me, he spoke simply.
“Find me when you can learn to be y/n and not Bella.”
His form morphed before running into the woods on all fours, leaving me stunned. After a brief moment, tears flooded my eyes. I never got to tell him that I do like him, I never got to tell him that I just want his attention, I just wanted him.
Thoughts spiraled in my head, I was jealous of Bella for sure but I was jealous because of the attention she was given. I just wanted Embry to treat me like she was treated, I wanted to be special to him.
I ran home, I ran because I was scared. I was scared I wouldn't be able to look at him properly.
Weeks passed as we ceased to talk, and I ceased to exist in the small town of Forks. Or so I thought.
I groaned as heavy knocks assaulted my front door, I picked up the phone looking at the time. Who the hell shows up at someone's house at 4am?
Throwing on a sweater and sweats, I dragged myself to the front door, the cold hardwood floor seemingly repelling me from ever making any progress. I swung the door open, grumbling as my eyes were half open wondering who it was.
Jacob Black.
Mentally sighing, I invited him inside from the pouring rain, he seemed devastated.
He sat down after he changed as I made him some hot chocolate to comfort him.
"She chose him y/n, he came back and she chose him over me. She drove to Italy for that stupid bloodsucker." His cracking voice was more than enough for me to grasp his frustration and devastation.
"I dropped everything for her, I did everything for her y/n. And she still chose the guy that skipped town huh?" Laughing bitterly at the situation, I stared at his cup before handing it to him.
"Maybe if I was better than Edward I would've won this stupid fucking battle," his words escaping his clenched teeth. He was like me, we were jealous of someone, someone that seemed to win everything, someone that we were not. The words spoken to me by Embry were words I carried with me even as I was moping over the whole situation.
"Stop comparing yourself to him, Jacob. You're not Edward and you won't ever be him. You're so insistent on being better than Edward or being Edward that you can't even see what's in front of you. I was always here for you Jake, I was always here but you treated me like I was a second option. You left me in a heartbeat for her but you never had time to spend with me, not even five minutes, when you were with her," I too chuckled bitterly at the ironic situation, me and Jacob were similar in many ways.
"Learn to live your life, don't live it for her or because of her, learn how to live it like you want." Those words seemed to resonate deep within both of us. After finally speaking those words, I realized that I was ready to live my life as y/n, a citizen of the small city of Forks, and not vying to be Bella, the new girl to forks.
I stood up, putting on shoes hastily before grabbing the handle. I could sense Jacob's attempt to stop me and apologize for his treatment but I knew better.
"It's ok, I know you're gonna apologize. I'm not going to accept, I want the Jake that will care and treat everyone with the same importance that you had for Bella. Come to me when you're ready, but until then I hope you grow and learn how to live your life."
I paused again, one foot out of the door.
"I have someone important to apologize to, someone that didn't leave me in the blink of an eye."
I hurriedly shut the door behind me before running to the woods, my lungs burning and legs aching as I forced myself to my limit. I ran and ran, visions of the houses slowly turned to trees, the crunching leaves under my feet reminded me of the days we would all run through the woods.
My breathing became labored as I was reaching my breaking point but it was close, our place was close. Then, in my distant vision, I could see it. That one pine tree, seemingly normal to many, but to me, it held our memories. The initials only reassured my assumption as I knew that he would be here waiting. As I got closer to the tree, my legs gave out under me, sending me tumbling to the ground whilst tree branches scratched my arms and ripped a hole in my pants.
"EMBRY! EMBRY I'M HERE PLEASE!" I shouted into the dark forest, eyes tearing up once more as I pleaded.
"I LOVE YOU EMBRY CALL AND I'M SORRY I WAS TOO BLIND TO REALIZE IT!" I shouted once more before crumpling closer to the ground, my tears now fully flowing and hitting the dead leaves below.
Maybe I took too long, maybe he moved on, maybe I was too jealous of someone to even realize his love.
As sobs continued throughout my body, the hope of him ever coming was diminishing.
I was too late.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of strong but warm arms wrap around my waist and pulling me up.
"Shhh, it's ok I'm here now."
That voice, I looked up to see Embry's face which held a dorky grin. I threw my arms around him as sobs still left my body, the emotional rollercoaster was far too much for me to handle.
"I-i'm s-s-so sorry Embry, I was too focused on trying to be Bella that I-"
"I know, I know, I heard it all," shushing me as he rubbed circles on my back consoling me. After what felt like hours in his embrace, I finally calmed down and only tear stains remained.
I finally lifted my head to meet his eyes properly this time, he stared back with tender eyes.
"You finally learned how to live for you huh?" He asked, not expecting an answer to which I was oblivious.
Before I could respond, he pressed his lips to mine. I didn't try and fight it and melted into it instead.
I was blind to be jealous of Bella when I already had something that she fought to keep.
Smiling mentally, I wrapped my arms around his neck to deepen the kiss.

Surprising them with hugs
Featuring:- Gojou Satoru, Nanami Kento, Itadori Yuji & Megumi Fushiguro
A/n:- My first time writing Itadori and Fushiguro . I hope you enjoy <3
Genre:- Fluff and some use of pet names!
Tumblr media
Gojou Satoru:-
He was simply scrolling on his phone when he heard the door creak open.
He looked up and saw a very exhausted you with the most unhappy expression on your face.
Gojou was kinda used to this because your work sucked and your coworkers weren’t cool either.
What made it worst was you had to look at their work and if they made any mistakes you had to edit the whole damn paperwork oof 😣.
As soon as you saw Gojou on the couch with the most gentle smile , you couldn’t contain it any longer.
You quickly made your way towards him and hugged him tightly like he is the only thing keeping you sane.
Gojou wasn’t used to your hugs or in general any form of physical contact.
He would have teased you about it but looking at your condition , he refrained from doing so.
Because you were just so beautiful 🥺.
“Angel face , are you okay?”
“Wasn’t but now I am”
Gojou held you tightly against his chest and he started to lull you to sleep.
You closed your eyes and fell asleep on his lap and your cheek squished against his chest.
Tumblr media
Nanami Kento:-
*sigh*
This guy I swear makes my heart go crazy .. anyways
Nanami was on his desk working on some documents which he had to submit.
He was quite tired, one of the bad habit he had was he never looked after his sleep cycle.
That changed when you came into his life, you made sure that he would rest well, eat well and take care of himself.
You would always get pouty when he told you that he had skipped his lunch or that he did not sleep.
So you guys came to a conclusion that , naps together is a must and checking on each other is important.
You were bored and after watching some series on repeat and looked at the time , it was past midnight and nanami was still working.
You huffed and stood right beside him , reminding him that he needs to sleep!
“More 5 minutes , love”
“You said that an hour ago, you need to rest babe . Come on let’s go.”
“Almost done.”
That continued for half an hour more.
You were pissed so you decided to do something.
You made your way towards him and plopped yourself on his lap .. sighing contentedly. Hugging his waist tightly .
He was flabbergasted because you never did this and it was kinda cute.
You looked so adorable under the desk light and with the pout prominent on your face.
Nanami got up from his desk chair holding you in his arms and placed you on the bed with him hugging you tightly, thanking you for looking after him.
Tumblr media
Itadori Yuji:-
I wanna protect him with all I have got I swear he is such a adorable bean 🤧🥺.
Itadori and you had gone out for shopping.
You guys were in a mall buying some clothes and were looking for a certain pair of shoes you liked.
You got everything except for the shoes you wanted .
So you guys decided to make a stop near the market which was just outside the mall.
What you guys did not know was , that it was so crowded in the market that someone would obviously go missing.
You tightly grabbed itadori’s hand not letting go.
He smiled at you , grabbing your shoulder and holding you tightly.
Suddenly the crowd started to move like crazy and your grip on itadori’s had loosened and you were lost in the crowd.
You looked nearby and saw that Itadori wasn’t around anymore.
“Yuji?” you were afraid because you never liked crowds and it was quite scary as you were ended in a very secluded area were no one was there.
“Y/n?” Itadori screams as he searches for you.
He then spots you in a corner , you were shivering.
He quickly made his way towards you and pats your head saying “ everything is okay, I am here , I am here baby”
You wipe your tears and hug him tightly, that caught him off guard and he smiled gently and kisses your forehead.
You were warm just like the hot chocolate during cold winter days.
Tumblr media
Megumi Fushiguro:-
Pretty boy , I love you so much 🥺.
Fushiguro was out exorcising, you were home because it was Saturday that means no work!
So you thought about sleeping in and cuddling with your boyfriend, movie marathon and ordering take out .
But Megumi was called early and he had to go.
So here you were missing him a lot and cooking his favourite meal because you knew he was gonna be tired.
You plop down on your couch , watching some anime . After some time you switch off your tv and grab your phone to check whether he had texted you or called you.
Zero missed calls and no new messages .
That made you worried , coz Megumi had promised you that he would text you time to time to check up on you.
He couldn’t, you were worried. Did something happen to him? Because exorcising is quite a risky job as there is always a possibility of something bad.
“I am home y/n”
You got scared because you were lost in thinking about what would have happened to him.
You sprint towards your doorstep and look at Megumi .
Megumi turns around and sees you standing behind him , who hug him tightly .
“Huh? Ar-are you alright y/n? Did something happen?” Megumi was clearly stuttering because this was unlike you.
You mumble something against his chest and look at him , he was blushing 🥺.
He leans down to place a chaste kiss on your forehead, but you steal a kiss and giggle.
“I was worried Gumi, I thought something bad happened to you and when I saw you I was just so happy and I couldn’t control myself, I missed you :( “
“ I missed you to and I am sorry I couldn’t inform you , so um let’s watch the movie you wanted to watch.”
After a while you fell asleep on Megumi’s lap and you smile contentedly. He blushes and strokes your hair gently lulling you back to sleep.

[Luka X fem!Reader] Of Guitar Picks and Ladders
“Hey (y/n)!” Juleka called and you ran over to the dark haired girl.
“What’s up?” you questioned when you got close enough to her and Rose.
“We’re gonna practice tonight,” she told you, then looked at you quizzically, “you coming?”
“Of course!” you answered with a smile, “miss my favorite band? No way!”
Rose smiled, “are we really your favorite band?”
“Are you sure you’re not biased?” Juleka teased with a grin.
You sheepishly rubbed the back of your neck, “maybe a little.” Your family had been friends with the Couffaines for as long as you could remember, so it was a given that you were best friends with the Couffaine kids, Juleka and Luka. Plus, the fact that you harbored a huge crush on Luka didn’t help your case that you weren’t biased. “When do you guys think you’re going to get a gig?”
“We are going to be participating in the upcoming music festival.” Rose told you.
“What?” you gasped and looked at your two friends with wide eyes, “no way! That’s so awesome! When were you going to tell me?”
“Haha, oops.” Juleka sheepishly commented.
“Should we get going now?” Rose asked. You and Juleka nodded and the three of you walked towards the Couffaine residence.
...
“Mom I’m home!” Juleka called out as she dropped her bag onto the floor, “Rose and (y/n) are with me!”
“Okay!” Juleka’s mom replied.
“We’ve got a couple hours to kill right? We could knock out our homework.” You suggested. Unlike Juleka, you and Rose still had your bags on.
“That’s true.” She nodded and picked her bag up, “we’ll go to my room.” You and Rose nodded and followed Juleka to her room. On your way to her room, you passed by Luka’s room.
“Knock knock.” You called as you knocked on the door frame. The door was slightly ajar and you could see Luka inside.
His eyes opened and his gaze fell upon you, “hey (y/n).”
“Just wanted to say hi.” You smiled, “we’re gonna do homework before you guys practice.”
“Hey, you wanna see something cool?” he asked and beckoned you to come into his room.
“Sure.” You nodded and pushed the door open. He went to his collection of picks and pulled out one of them from it’s spot on the wall. He then put it in your hand so you could see.
You gasped, “no way.”
“Yes way.” He grinned.
“You got one of the limited edition Jagged Stone picks?” You asked as you examined the small piece of plastic, “that’s insane! How’d you get it?”
He pretended to nonchalantly shrug, “just a friend.”
“That’s so cool!” you gushed. You weren’t exactly a guitar player, but you did keep up with what was happening in the music world. If only to keep up with what Luka was talking about.
“(y/n)!” you heard your name being called, “we’re going to start our homework without you!” Rose shouted.
You blanched, Ms. Mendeleev gave some hard homework for tonight and you did not want to miss help with that. “Sorry, I’ve got to go.” You gave him back his pick, “I’ll talk to you later though!” you waved at him before you darted to Juleka’s room.
“What were you doing with my brother?” Juleka teased with a knowing look.
“He was just showing me his Jagged Stone pick.” You answered with your face buried in your bag as you looked for your homework and to hide your blush.
“What really?” Juleka gasped, “he hasn’t even shown me that!”
“Wait what?” you asked in confusion and you looked out of your bag to face her, “seriously?”
“He must really like you then.” Rose grinned.
“That’s very kind of him.” You answered nonchalantly but buried your head in your bag again.
“Does (y/n) have a crush?” Rose cooed.
“Not so loud!” you shushed her and worriedly looked at the closed door to Juleka’s room.
“So you do!” Rose squealed and you winced as she did the exact opposite of what you wanted her to do.
“I don’t!” you vehemently tried to argue back, but it wasn’t doing much good. Rose’s love radar was up and active.
“And it’s on my brother.” Juleka looked at you in shock.
“No, no, it’s not.” You desperately tried to calm the situation down.
Juleka smiled, “we’re totally setting the two of you up.”
“Please don’t.” You hid your face in your hands.
“You guys would be so cute together!” Rose gushed.
“Guys.” You whined, “don’t we have homework to do?”
“Nu-uh, this is more important.” Juleka replied and shoved all of your books and notes aside.
You groaned and fell onto the ground, “why? Ms. Mendeleev will be furious if we don’t do our homework! And you have practice later today.”
“She has a point.” Juleka nodded and Rose sullenly agreed.
“But don’t think we’re forgetting about this!” Rose brightened up. You just groaned.
...
“I just realized something,” Luka sat down next to you.
“Huh?” you asked him dumbfounded, had he already figured out that you had a massive crush on him? You had only come to terms with it a couple hours ago.
“You always come to our practices.” He remarked thoughtfully.
You silently let out a sigh of relief, but then resisted the urge to hit the black and blue haired boy. He just now realized that? “Well of course I do. You guys are my favorite band! So I’m going to show my support!” you grinned.
“Your favorite band?” he looked down at you dubiously but you could tell he was laughing on the inside, “and there’s nothing biased about that statement.”
“Juleka said the exact same thing.” You whined, “maybe it’s a little biased.”
“A lot biased!” Rose shouted with a grin. Your eyes widened and you glared at her with your hand up to your neck in the universal sign that you were going to kill her when this entire thing was done.
He laughed as he clearly saw the sign you gave Rose, “well anyways. I’m glad to have you here supporting us.” He stood up, “I should go help set up. Talk to you later.” He waved.
As soon as he was out of earshot you turned to Rose, “Rose I’m going to kill you!”
“What why?” she asked in shock, “I haven’t done anything yet!”
“(y/n)! I need your help!” Juleka called. You ran over to her, “can you help hang this up?” she handed you a roll of streamers.
“Why do you need this up?” you asked and held it up.
“Because of the aesthetic.” She answered simply then patted the ladder next to you.
You sighed, you still didn’t understand but she knew what she was doing. You climbed onto the steps of the ladder as she held the ladder. You were starting to tape up the streamers when the ladder suddenly shook and you lost balance and fell off the ladder. You screamed and shut your eyes in preparation to his the ground when you realized you didn’t hit anything hard, but you had stopped falling. You opened up an eye and was met with blue. “Oh, hi Luka.” You stuttered.
He let you down back on your feet, “you should be more careful, you could’ve died.” He lectured.
“Blame Juleka, she was the one holding the ladder.” You muttered as you glared at said person. Said person just gave you a grin and waved.
“I guess you could say she fell for you!” Rose called from across the room.
You spun around and was about to really kill Rose when Luka laughed, “I can’t disagree with that.”
“In more ways than one.” You mumbled but then clasped your hands over your mouth in shock.
“You,” Luka looked at you in shock, “like me?”
“Of course I do,” you tried to wave off your blunder, “who wouldn’t like you? You’re totally awesome!”
“She like-likes you!” Rose yelled out again.
You felt your eye twitch as you continued to smile at Luka. Rose was really asking for it. “That’s good.” Luka smiled and the atmosphere seemed to have softened, “because I like-like you too.”
“Huh?” your jaw dropped, were you hearing things correctly?
“That was lame,” he sighed, “I really like you too.” He told you.
“Uh, me too.” You stuttered. You were mentally berating yourself, normally you were fine around Luka, but now you suddenly have a frog in your mouth?
“So you won’t mind if I…” he trailed off and leant down to capture your lips in a kiss. Once you realized what was happening, you stood up on your tiptoes to meet him halfway.
“No, I don’t mind.” You smiled. The two of you stood there for awhile. Foreheads touching and arms wrapped around each other. You suddenly broke off when you heard cheering though. Mainly from Rose. “Do you mind if I go kill her?” you asked softly.
“She’s our lead singer. I can’t let you do that.” He answered equally soft.
“Shame.” He laughed and captured your lips in another kiss.

You’re sitting next to Reiner, who is currently eyeing the different girls in the pool, trying to decide who he was going to charm his way into and ask out next. You sigh, shaking your head at his antics. Typical. Slightly nudging Reiner with your elbow, you pull his gaze off of the girls in the pool. “Hey Reiner.” He hums in response, turning to look at you. “I’m going to go get a drink. I’ll be right back.”
He nods his head, and with that you stand up and walk over to the outside bar. Walking up to the man working the bar, you take a seat on one of the stools. “Can I have a piña colada? Virgin please.”
“Sure, no thing.”
“Thank you.”
“I’ll have the same thing she’s having.” Looking at the source of the voice, you see a tall, tanned skinned guy with long brown hair tied up in a messy bun walking up to the bar. He takes a seat a few stools away from you. You eye him up and down, taking in his appearance. Starting from the top, you notice his hair is slightly damp, wet strands of hair falling to the sides of his face, framing his structure. He must have been in the pool not long ago. Moving down to his chest, you immediately take notice of his beautiful and sculpted abs.
Damn he’s hot. Eyes moving even lower, you come across his grey shorts, eyeing a noticeable bulge in his pants.
Shit.
Your eyes linger for a little too long then they should have, leading the guy to notice your staring from his peripheral vision. He turns his face to look at you, an amused grin growing on his face. Cocking his head to the side, his mouth opens. “Like what you see?” You feel the heat rise to your cheeks. Realizing you were staring, you turn away in embarrassment, causing him to let out a low chuckle.
“Your drinks.” Thankfully saving you from the situation, the man working the bar slides both of you guys your drinks. You quickly grab it and take a sip, waddling away in your flip flops back to your spot next to Reiner. Feeling your presence next to him, he faces you. “Hey, you're back.”
“Yes I am.”
Looking down, you take a sip of your drink. Reiner playfully nudges you in the shoulder, noticing your distressed state. “What’s wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost.” Ignoring his question, you look up and you see the same guy from the bar on the other side of the pool, talking with a black haired girl and a shorter blonde haired boy boy. Letting your curiosity get the best of you, you decide to ask Reiner a question. “Hey Reiner, who is that?” You motion your chin to the brown haired boy. Reiner looks forward, a look of confusion falling on his face.
“Who is who?”
“The sexy guy on the other side talking to two people.” Laughing at your choice of words, Reiner sees who you’re talking about. “Oh him? That’s Eren Jaeger.”
“Eren Jaeger...” You let the name fall out of your lips, sounding it out for yourself.
Not letting you get away with your words so easily, Reiner plays with you. “So you think he’s sexy?”
“Oh, shut up. I just had an encounter with him at the bar.”
“Well you’re not wrong, he is sexy.” Laughing, you take another sip of your piña colada. Reiner continues. “And he thinks you are too.”
Nearly choking on your drink, you snap your head at Reiner, a confused look on your face. “What do you mean he thinks I am too?”
“I meann that he’s my friend. We were talking earlier and he was telling me how he thought you were pretty cute actually.” Finding his claim too hard to believe, you shake your head. “You’re shitting me.”
“Nope. I’m for real. He’s obviously interested in you. He’s been eyeing you the whole time we were here. You’re just too dense to notice.” You shoved his hard chest, the force nearly knocking him into the pool.
“If I find out you’re lying, I’m killing you.” Laughing, Reiner shakes his head in amusement. “You know you should get with him. I heard he's really good with his fingers if you know what I mean.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you, nudging your side a few times with his elbow. Nearly choking on your drink for the second time, you shake your head, bad memories starting to come back to you.
“No. I can’t.” Your voice quieting to a whisper, you talk so only he can hear you. “I haven’t been with anyone since the thing happened, remember?” Reiner nods his head in understanding, but he doesn’t stop there.
“Hey, don’t think about that, okay?” He sighs. “Exactly the reason you need to get with someone again. It’ll be good, trust me. And it won’t be that hard since he obviously wants to get with you too.” Shoving the terrible memories to the back of your head, you actually consider his statement. You look back to the other side of the pool searching for the brown headed boy, only to notice that he isn’t there. About to question where he is, you open your mouth to speak only to be interrupted by a light tap on your shoulder. You turn around, and to your surprise you see Eren standing tall behind you, eyes level with the very noticeable bulge in his grey shorts. Heat immediately rising to your cheeks, you turn away from the delicious view, stopping yourself before you stare again.
“Hey.” He looks down at you, drink still in his hand.
“Oh, hey again.”
He nods his head at Reiner in a greeting manner. “Hey Reiner.”
“Hello Eren.” Chuckling to himself, Reiner stands up, moving to walk away. Confusion spreads on your face. “Hey, where are you going!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll see you later.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you in a teasing manner, cupping his hands around his mouth and mouths, “Get some!” Laughing, he turns and walks away, but he halts besides Eren and leans into his ear, whispering something to him only the two of them can hear. Once he finishes, he walks away.
Suddenly growing nervous, you fidget with your fingers. Eren’s crouches down beside you, his eyes looking into yours. “Mind if I sit here?” Placing your drink to the other side, you shake your head. “No, not at all.” He takes a seat beside you, placing his own drink on the other side of him and dipping his own feet into the water too. Not being able to help yourself, you side eye him up and down once again. This time there’s black sunglasses on the top of his head, stopping his bangs from falling to his face. You not so secretly admire his bare chest and his body, not knowing Eren is admiring yours as well.
The sun is slowly setting before you, light shadows casting over the backyard, a cool breeze blowing in the air. Eren is the first one to talk.
“So, I haven’t seen you around before. Are you just moving here?” He turns to look at you, and the air is taken out of your lungs. God, his eyes, they're beautiful. A gorgeous shade of blue. No green. Turquoise? Either way, the sight is simply enough to melt everything else away. Eren’s question finally registering in your brain, you quickly snap yourself out of your daze, answering his question.
“No no not really, I just didn’t go out much during school. But now that summer is here I plan to get out more this time.” You can see his face light up in curiosity. “So I’ll be seeing more of you? He turns to the pool, nodding his head in satisfaction. “Good to know...”
“I guess you will.” A moment of silence falls before Eren opens his mouth again. “You aren’t going in the pool?
“Well actually,” You lower your head in slight embarrassment, “I don’t know how to swim.” Eren looks at you, a shocked look spread across his face. “You can’t swim?”
“Nope.” You say shaking your head, popping the p. His lips turn into a teasing grin. “Loser. Why go to a pool party if you can’t swim in the pool?” You look at him, your brain going into defensive mode. “Hey! Pool parties are fun. And you don’t actually have to go in the pool to have fun just so you know.”
“What if you get pushed into the pool?”
“Then I guess I’ll die a miserable death.” Laughing at your awfully morbid joke, Eren shakes his head. “I guess I’ll just have to protect you, huh.” Furrowing your eyebrows, you question what he means.
“What do you mean, you’ll just have to protec-” You are cut off by the sound of someone’s voice calling him. Both of you look over to the person. You see the same boy with blond hair that Eren was talking to earlier dramatically waving his hand over his head. “Hey Eren! Come on we’re about to start.” Eren sighs, nodding his head at the boy. “Coming!” He turns back to you.
“I guess I’ll talk to you later, non swimmer.” A brief look of disappointment falls on your face, but you quietly mask it with a smile, nodding your head.
You liked talking to him. He was like a breath of fresh air, despite literally being outside, even if he was making fun of you. Giving you a heartwarming smile, he picks up his drink and stands up, about to walk away, but then he leans in to your ear. “Oh, I never got your name.” His breath is hot, and it tickles your skin, sending cold tingles down your spine. You catch a whiff of the pina colada he had earlier in his breath. You told him your name, and he repeated it under his breath, sounding it out on his own lips. “Pretty.” The way your name came out of his lips sounded like music to your ears. “Mines Eren.”
With that he walks away, and almost as soon as Eren is out of your sight, Reiner returns to your side. “Hey, some of us are about to go inside to play a game, let’s go join them, and you can also meet some of my friends.” Sounding like a good idea to you, you nod your head and stand up from your position, leaving your pina colada. As you’re about to walk away, Reiner smirks, leaning in from the side into your ear.
“Wow, I bet you can’t wait till you two are in the bedroom.” Anger rising from the inside of you, you push Reiner again, this time actually pushing him into the pool.
Splash!
“Hey!” He flops around in the water, water splashing on you and all around. Erupting into a fit of laughter, you run away to get Reiner a towel to use as a peace offering before he can get out and push you in the pool too. You can’t be dying a miserable death this early.
------------
Side by side, you and Reiner walk into the living room. You are greeted by the sight of nine people sitting on the floor in a circle, a deck of playing cards in the middle. Wrapping his arm around your shoulder, Reiner moves to speak. “Hey guys! This is my friend.” He introduces you, and you smile at all of them, saying hi. You scan over the room, seeing all different types of people who look close to your age, and your eyes land on a certain brown haired boy in particular.
Eren.
Almost as if he can feel your staring, his turquoise eyes meet yours. You immediately rip your gaze away, moving closer to Reiner's side. He softly grabs your wrist, leading you both to a vacant spot in the circle. You end up sitting next to a blonde haired girl, who’s talking to someone else positioned on the other side of her. Turning to look at you, she introduces herself with a smile. “Hey, my name is Annie.”
“Oh, hey Annie.” You tell her your name. “Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you too.” She brings her attention back to the person she was talking to. Looking around once more, you see that you’re sitting almost directly across from Eren, his eyes already on you. Feeling a little uncomfortable, you desperately try to avoid his piercing gaze, looking to the ground and fidgeting with your fingers.
“Ok so guys!” The same average sized blonde haired boy that called Eren earlier clasps his hands together and begins talking. “We are going to be playing a card game called Screw Your Neighbor.” He looks around the room. “Do any of you guys not know how to play?” Remembering the familiar game since you played it at a previous party, you shake your head no along with everyone else.
He smiles a gorgeous smile. “Great, so let’s get started.” And the game begins.
------
For the first night of summer, you have more fun than you have had all year. A lot of that fun must be due to the fact you’ve had to drink a few times due to losing. But luckily, you’re not even close to drunk, as it takes a lot for you to just get wasted. But you are a little tipsy. And you also really aren't the best at card games, even if it’s just a game of pure luck.
Not paying attention to your surroundings much, you don’t notice Eren’s turquoise gaze on you while eating. By now almost everyone has a snack with them, and apparently Eren has the messiest one. You’ve been stealing glances at him all night, and when you look over at him, you see that he has a melting popsicle in his hand, the treat dripping down his wrist. He has some of the popsicle trickling down the sides of his mouth, but he doesn’t seem to pay any mind to it, and neither does anyone else. This must be normal for him to eat like an animal.
His pink tongue darts out of his mouth, the tip slowly licking the juice that got on the sides. Once again feeling your gaze like some psychotic person, Eren’s eyes meet yours, a mischievous glint twinkling in his eyes.
Eren’s going to have his fun with you.
Bringing the popsicle up to his mouth, he sticks it into his mouth, very slowly moving it all the way in. His tongue swirls around the popsicle, licking all the excess juice off, turquoise eyes never leaving yours. Eyes glued to Eren mouth fucking his popsicle, your head is telling you to look away, but you just can't. He is still shirtless, the melting popsicle trickling pink down his bare chest. He very slowly but surely takes a popsicle out of his mouth, sucking on every inch about to come out.
How the fuck has no one called him out.
He’s basically eye fucking you, turquoise eyes undressing you from across. Swiping his tongue around his mouth, he licks the melted popsicle from his lips. Heat rising to your cheeks, you decide that this is too much for you. You need a way to get out of this.
Standing up abruptly, you make your excuse. “Hey guys, can someone show me the bathroom?” Just finishing the popsicle, Eren immediately shoots up from his seat, not even wasting a moment for his chance. He gives you another mischievous smile, obviously planning something in his head. “Here, I’ll show you.” Looking to the side, you see Reiner shooting you a knowing smirk. Rolling your eyes at him, you hesitantly nod your head at Eren. He walks over to your side and leans in to your ear like before.
“Enjoy the show?” His voice is low and seductive, sweet breath tickling your skin.
Tha - thump.
Another throb down below. Oh Lord you just met this man and the things he’s already doing to you without even doing anything. Noticing your frozen state, Eren just laughs, shaking his head in amusement.
He knows what he’s doing.
“Follow me.” Eren walks in front of you and leads you into a hallway. He comes to a stop in front of the door, looking back at you. “It’s right in here.” He turns the handle and walks in, holding the door open for you. You walk into a bedroom that looks un-slept. The bed is neatly made, fluffy white sheets and white pillows, not a single item out of place. This must be the guest room.
Eren walks to another door, opening it and turning on a light switch. “Here.” He nudges his head towards the doorway. “Thank you.” Your voice comes on as a whisper, afraid that if it’s any louder it might just crack. He nods his head and steps out of the bathroom. “Welcome.”
You walk into the bathroom, mentally going through everything in your mind that just happened. What is this boy doing? Because if he’s trying to seduce you, hell, it's working. Reiner was right, it has been a while since you have received any pleasure at all. Maybe today was the day to continue. Start fresh. The past is the past. Breathing in and out, you muster up all the courage you have in you to go and make your move. You got this. Slowly turning the door handle, you open the door and walk back into the bedroom to see an Eren sitting on the bed, scrolling through his phone. His face turns up to look at you once you enter the room.
“Hey. Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you for asking.”
Eren nods his head, slipping his phone into his pocket. He stands up, making his way over to you. You also walk closer to him, both of you closing the gap between your bodies, leaving some personal space. His eyes look into yours. “Are you ready to go now?” He tilts his head sideways. You take a step closer to Eren, causing him to raise up an eyebrow in curiousness. Suddenly becoming bold, you get right to the point.
“I kind of want to do something first.” He walks closer to you again, leaning his head down only inches away from yours. “What do you want to do?” You can smell the fruity popsicle in his breath, the scent delighting to your nose, only making you lean your face in closer to his. You sink your teeth into your lips, and his eyes flicker down to look at them.
“This.” Grabbing his face and pulling it closer to you, you attach your lips to his. He immediately kisses you back, lips molding against one another, but then he breaks away for a brief moment, holding your wrists, your hands still on his cheeks.
“How many drinks did you have?” Smiling, you shake your head. “Not much. I’m not drunk. Trust me.” Eren eyes you for a moment, and then he knows it’s true, afterall he can tell when someone is wasted.
“So it’s okay if I kiss you?” You nod your head. “I thought you’d never ask.”
Not wasting any time, Eren connects his lips with yours again, tilting his head to the side, deepening the kiss. He softly grabs your hands from your face, moving them to his shoulders. You then move your hands to wrap around his neck, pulling him down to you. His arms snake around your waist, pulling your flesh against his and letting you feel his abs pressing against your stomach. His big hands trail down your curves, stopping at your ass and squeezing, causing you to gasp against his lips.
Eren’s lips are soft and smooth. The kiss is nice and tender, bad memories from earlier disappearing from your mind. His tongue swipes across your bottom lip, requesting for access to enter your mouth. You comply, opening your mouth and letting his tongue move in. His tongue darts around your mouth, licking everything in its path. His tongue finds yours, and his own swirls around it, the popsicle move coming into play. You fight him for access, moving your own tongue inside his mouth for your turn. You taste the fruity popsicle in his mouth, savoring the flavor.
Watermelon.
The kiss goes on for a minute, you being the first to pull away for air. You look into Eren’s eyes, stupid grins on both of your faces. He rests his forehead against yours, softly rubbing patterns against your back with his fingers .“That was not bad for someone that can’t swim”, he breathes out.
“You're never going to let that go, are you?”
“Not planning to.”
Laughing, his lips connect to your jaw, then moves down, tracing warm and wet kisses down your neck. Searching for your sweet spot, he knows he has found it when you let out a soft moan, the sound music to his years. He sucks on it for a while, you only realize what he was doing once the spot is already marked.
“Hey! Why’d you do that!”
“Relax princess. I’m simply just marking my territory.” His voice is low and husky, sending another wave of shivers down your spine. Smiling against your neck, Eren’s fingers lightly trace down to your thighs. He softly taps on them a few times.
“Jump.”
Listening to his command, you jump into his arms, your legs instinctively wrapping against his waist, his hands grabbing at your thighs. His lips connect back to yours, this time the kiss more hungry, longing for more. He walks you both over to the bed, resting your back against the bed, ruffling up the white sheets. Kissing you for another minute more, his lips trace down your neck, down your collar bones, and onto your shirt. He places kisses down the neck of your shirt, and to one of your breasts, his other hand softly massaging the other. Playfully tugging your shirt, he disconnects his mouth and looks into your eyes again. Smiling a stupid grin at you, he tilts his head.
“Can I undress you?”
Butterflies erupt through your body. Smiling at his sweetness, you nod your head yes. Without wasting a moment, Eren sets you up at the edge of the bed. You raise your hands to give him easier access, and he slowly and seductively pulls your shirt off of your body. He throws it to who knows where, revealing your red laced bra. Smiling a lopsided grin, Eren looks back at you.
“I like the bra. Sexy.” You smile back at him. “Thank you, I try my best.”
Laughing, Eren’s mouth connects with your body again, making his way down your stomach, leaving hot and wet kisses all over. He comes to your waistband, and looks up at you for confirmation before doing anything. You nod your head. Coming back down, he slowly unbuttons your jeans shorts, and pulls the zipper down even slower, knowing damn well what he’s doing. “C'mon Eren.” You place your hands in his hair, whining at his teasing. Finally, he pulls your shorts and panties down in one go and throws them to the same place as your shirt, revealing your soaking wet cunt. Smirking at your pussy, he shakes his head. “Damn, already that wet, and I haven’t even done anything. Do I turn you on that much?” You smack him in the head, heat rising to your cheeks. “Oh, shut up.”
He chuckles. “It's okay baby, you turn me on too.” Not giving you any time to react, Eren rubs your clit, rubbing in slow circles. You try to suppress your moans, afraid that someone will hear you guys in the living room. Rubbing even faster, Eren’s looks into your eyes.
“Let me hear you. Okay princess?” He drags his finger between your folds, making you call out his name. “E- Eren,” You cry out, your words turning into a breathy moan. “That’s what I like to hear. Fuck, you're gorgeous.” He softly muttered against your thighs. Climbing on top of you, Eren connects his lips with you, a soft and slow kiss this time while you wrap your legs around his torso. Slowly, Eren slips one finger into you, groaning at how you clench around his finger. His finger thrusts into you, hitting your sensitive spots. “Shit, Eren.”
“Fuck.” Eren slips another finger into you, causing you to cry out, the already huge bulge in his pants only growing at your sweet sounds. His thumb rubs your clit in circles, the feeling enough to make you go crazy. You scrape your fingers against his back, leaving red lines along his skin. His fingers repeatedly thrust into you, Eren groaning at the lewd noises coming from your slick. Back arching to a curve, your breasts press against his chest. You squeeze your eyes due to the pleasure, throwing your head back into the bed.
“No, no. Look at me baby.” You comply, opening your eyes again, eyes meeting turquoise ones.
“Eren… faster.” He knuckles deep, the pleasure consuming your mind. Grinding your hips to match the wonderful rhythm of Eren’s fingers, you knew you were about to cum. You moan his name out loudly, not caring if everyone could hear you outside. His fingers thrusted into you again, hitting the exact spot you need it to, you come undone on his fingers, leaving a tinted substance. Panting and legs shaking after reaching your high, you watch Eren bring his fingers to his mouth and lick your arousal off, not leaving a single drop left to waste. “You taste so good princess.” He leans in to kiss you, and you can taste yourself on his lips, mixed in with the sweet watermelon flavor from his messy desert.
“Are you guys okay in there?” Loud banging on the door startles you, a yelp coming from your lips. Eren climbs off of you, standing and trying to fix the tightness in his pants. Your lips turning into a small pout at the loss of the warm feeling of his body on top of yours. Grabbing your panties and shorts, he walks to you, Eren gives you a cheeky smile. He kneels down before you, stretching out your underwear and looking up at you through his eyelashes. Getting the gist, you place your right leg into one hole, left leg in the other. Then he helps you with your jeans shorts and your shirt, the same process repeating.
“Have fun?”
“I did actually… Did you?”
“Mhm, a lot.”
More banging on the door.
“Yeah, yeah. We’re fine! Coming out now.” Eren rolls his eyes in annoyance, reaching his hand into his pocket. Pulling out his phone, he scrolls and taps for a bit before reaching a page and handing it to you. “Mind if I get your number?” Nodding your head, you grab his phone from your hand and type in your number. After double checking if you typed in the right one, you hand it back to him.
Eren winks at you, the simple gesture causing butterflies to ignite throughout your body. “Thank you princess.” He walks up to the exit. Both of you forget about the now messy bed, the only thing important right now being each other. Opening the door, Eren steps to the side, allowing you to go first. “After you my lady.”
“Thank you sir.” Before you step out, Eren leans into your ear, lips grazing over your skin. He sensed the sadness radiating off your body. “It’s okay baby. We can continue another day. We have all summer after all.”

Just a Touch Away
Tumblr media
Pairing: Neville Longbottom x Reader
Pronouns: She/Her
Word Count: 4k
Request: Not necessarily?? A few people did ask for this though and who am I to deny you of that?
Summary: Part two of Just a Flight Away
Warnings: Sex, just sex. There’s fluff too, a good lil 50/50.
A/N: The fact that this is longer than the original makes me fucking laugh cause how tf did that even happen?? Hope I didn’t disappoint. I also got lazy half way through editing so only like the first 2k words are edited.
Neville was beyond ecstatic to be walking hand in hand with his girlfriend. It was better than anytime his mind would wander to it during the day and anytime it’d lull him to sleep at night. He looked down at her, watching as her eyes looked at everything in amazement. It reminded him of his first year at Hogwarts, wide eyed and full of curiosity of all there was to be explored. (Y/n) seemed to be soaking it all in as if she took even the smallest of blinks, everything would vanish before her eyes.
“It’s a pretty place, isn’t it?” He started off, catching the girl’s attention. She looked up at the tall lanky Gryffindor smiling at him. God he couldn’t believe that such a doll was his. This was his girlfriend.
“Yeah! It’s amazing! I love how tall the ceilings are and all the intricacies such as the carvings around the walls and floors, the big open windows, it’s all to die for!” She exclaimed, bouncing up and down a bit. How could one girl be so cute? Neville knew that if she asked, he’d do absolutely anything she wanted without a second thought. Anything she wanted and needed he would give to her at the drop of a hat.
“Yeah, that’s not even the most magical part. No matter where you go in the castle, you can find something new almost every time. Be it a hallway, room, whatever.” he stated, smiling as the girl gasped in amazement.
“We have to explore then some time while I’m here! However, today I wanna spend time with you doing you know,” she started, looking away as she was overcome with shyness, “Doing couple things.” Neville felt his heart swell at her words, trying his best not to drown her in all of his affection.
“Of course, petal. We can do whatever you want today! How bout I take you to Honeydukes and then we end the day off with the greenhouse? I know you wanted to see that first but trust me when I say it’s even more of a beauty during the evening than it is at this time.” He said, reaching down to push a bit of her hair out of her face. He laughed some as her eyes lit up at the mention of the sweets shop. When Neville and (Y/n) would send each other things, Neville would send her treats as much as possible. He had learned early on about the girl’s large sweet tooth and second stomach for dessert.
“That sounds amazing! You know how much I love treats!” she said, clapping her hands as she began to jump more. Neville looked at her fondly as he watched her fit of excitement but quickly stopped as he noticed her frown. “I don’t have the right currency to buy things yet though. I still only have dragots. That’s okay, we can j-”
“Did you really think I was going to make you pay, flower? What kind of man would I be to invite you out and not pay? I insist, shop to your heart's content today.” He said, reaching down to stroke her cheek. She leaned into his touch, smiling up at him.
“I love you, Nev.” she mumbled, closing her eyes in content from the warmth that radiated from his hand. Neville felt his breath hitch as he looked down at her, face flushing a bright red. It wasn’t the first time they had said it to each other. Sure, they ended their letters with it more often than not but to hear it from her voice? A voice that was so beautiful, so full of love, aimed towards him? She was making it really hard for him not to just have his way with her right then and there.
“Oh angel, I love you more. Come here.” He pulled her closer, bending down to rest his forehead on hers, smiling as he leaned in to kiss her. The (h/c) haired girl met him halfway, smiling into the kiss as she wrapped her arms around her neck. He continued to kiss her, deepening the kiss before remembering that they were quite literally in the middle of the hallway. He pulled away, placing a quick chaste kiss on her lips. Confusion took over (Y/n)’s face as she looked around them. In different parts of the hallway, a few guys were looking in their direction. “What is it, darling?” he questioned, grabbing her hand as he continued to walk. She simply dismissed his question, offering him a soft smile as he guided her towards the nearest castle exit. That’s when he started to hear it. It wasn’t loud, but it was loud enough for him to hear.
“God she’s a right fitty, isn’t she?”
“Yeah I mean look at the ass on her. She’s one of those Ilvermorny girls.”
“Could’ve fooled me. Looks straight outta Beauxbaton.”
“Longbottom’s a fool, I would’ve had my way with her as soon as she stepped out the train.”
Neville felt his jaw clench, trying to calm himself down. He had to get them out of here before (Y/n) heard, because if she had? Those guys would see exactly why he was put in Gryffindor in the first damn place. “Petal, do you want a piggyback ride? I know you mentioned wanting one in a few of your letters. Come on, hop on.” he said, bending down some so she could get on. (Y/n) felt her eyes light up at the idea. She took a large running start before jumping on the boy’s back, squealing as he lifted her up. Neville secured her on his back, biting his lip at the feeling of her plush thighs filtering between his fingers. They felt heavenly, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander to what they’d feel like wrapped around his- they had places to be. He didn’t want his precious girl to hear anything that those twits were saying about her so quickly he took off down the hallway, smiling as the girl laughed, tightening her arms around his neck.
-----------------------------------------
(Y/n) gasped as her eyes zoomed in various places all around Honeydukes. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before. She ran to various different snacks, reading the packages of them. “Look Nev, look! These look sooo good. They’re strawberry flavored! I love strawberry.” she said, holding up the box of snack cakes in his face. Neville laughed at the girl’s enthusiasm for sweets.
“I’ve had those before. They’re quite good! I think you’ll enjoy them ‘specially since you like strawberry so much. Do you wanna get them?” he questioned. (Y/n) pondered, humming slightly before nodding, setting them in his hands. She wondered how he could contain himself, especially when there were so many sweets around! Who wouldn’t wanna buy practically the whole store?
As they walked around the store, (Y/n) would occasionally find something else that piqued her interest, ask Neville’s opinion on it, and then throw it in his arms. She did this numerous times until she realized how full his arms were. The tower of sweets and treats almost covered his face. However, she couldn’t help to admire how his arms flexed and tensed under his shirt only imagining how nice they’d feel-
“Are you done, petal? It’s okay if you’re not! You can get a few more things, I just wanna get back to the greenhouse before it gets too dark.” he explained, turning to the side so he could see her face.
“Yeah, I’m done! Are you sure this is okay? This is a lot of stuff Nev.” she questioned, biting the inside of her cheek guilty.
“Nonsense! Nothing is too much for you, flower. Let’s get going, I’ve got a few plants that I need to water in about,” he set the treats down on the counter before looking at his watch, “30 minutes. Perhaps you can help me?”
“I’d love to! You know that’s my favorite part of growing plants is the watering part. It’s almost like you can see them do a little happy dance when you do! Well, some of the more animated plants quite literally do but you get what I mean!” she rambled on, quickly latching onto his arm once more. Neville listened to her, grabbing the bags as they began to walk out of the door only for him to bump into Malfoy himself. Great.
“Ah I see, loneliness has stricken you again huh Longbottom? I don’t know what all those treats will do for that!” He snickered out, high fiving Crabbe and Goyle. Neville rolled his eyes, frankly quite done with the bloke. He didn’t give him that same sense of fear as when he was younger. In fact, now he found him to be quite annoying.
“Actually they aren’t for him, they’re mainly all for me! Neville’s personal pick is just this little box right here.” she said, holding up the small box before placing it back in the bag. (Y/n) had to stop herself from letting out an audible gag as the blonde’s eyes traveled up and down her frame.
“You must be Neville’s American cousin, right? I-”
“Didn’t ask. Come on babe, let’s go.” The small girl said, dragging her boyfriend along with her. Draco stood there in shock as the two walked off still in amazement in how Neville had such a hot American girlfriend already.
-----------------------------------------------------
“Woah! I’ve read about this plant actually. Even had a small personal one of my own.” The (h/c) haired girl said, positioning the magnifying glass up and down around the leaves to view it better. Neville whipped his head towards her in excitement.
“Really? Wait, had?” he asked, watching as the girl shrugged sheepishly.
“Yeah, turns out it wasn’t really suited for the climate in America. Such a shame though! She was a real beauty.” She said, still not looking up at the plant. Neville smiled at her fondly, walking closer to her as he stood behind her.
“Yeah, she is.” he muttered, wrapping his arms around her waist as he turned her around.
“Something tells me we’re no longer discussing plants.” she joked, wrapping an arm around his neck as she brought the other to stroke his cheek. He leaned down hovering his lips above hers.
“I’m afraid we aren’t.” he closed the gap between them, kissing her with all the anger, all the passion that had built up over the day. He was tired of it, tired of men speaking about her like he wasn’t right fucking there. Obviously that wasn’t his sweet flower’s fault but god was he furious. He took one of his hands, trailing it from her waist to the underside of her skirt. With one hand he flipped it up and with the other he began to grip and prod at one of her cheeks harshly. He trailed his free hand up to her jaw, holding it tightly as he pulled away from the kiss leaving a trail of saliva in its path. “Do you want to-”
“Yes.” she cut him off, taking one of his hands and leading it under her shirt. He moved his large freckled hand up her torso until he reached her breast. His eyes widened as he felt the lack of bra.
“You little minx.” he sneered, gripping her ass in both of his hands as he sat her on top of the working table. He pushed her shirt above her breast, watching as her nipples began to harden from the cool air. Neville got on his knees pulling the girl to the edge of the table. He couldn’t help but pause and admire how beautiful she was. The setting sun reflected off of her sweaty (s/c) skin making it appear as if she was glowing. The shadows and light hit the parts of her soaking panties, revealing just how wet her cunny was. Neville let out an audible groan at the sight, adjusting his tightening pants. “God you’re bloody gorgeous. Look at you baby, all soaked just for me?” He ran a finger over her cloth covered slick, smirking as the girl jumped a bit letting out a soft whimper. “Let me treat you, yeah?” he whispered against her clothed cunt before ripping her panties down and stuffing them in her back pocket (He certainly was not giving those back).
His eyes were glued to the sight in front of him. It was more beautiful than any photograph that she had sent. No matter how many times she had written to him about how wet she was, nothing could prepare him for the true extent to what it was. The entirety of her pussy was covered in slick, running down her folds and now onto the table. He watched as her pretty little hole clenched and unclenched around nothing practically begging to be filled. But he couldn’t just yet, he had to do what he had been dreaming of for years. He moved a steady hand forward rubbing her clit in circular motions before licking a fat strip across her slit as he began to suck on her clit. (Y/n) gasped, bringing a shaky hand down to his head pushing him in forward and, who was Neville to deny her? Sure, Neville lacked experience severely. They both did. But he’d be damned if he came up from between her legs without giving her an orgasm first.
Neville took his middle finger, gathering a bit of her juices on it before slowly sinking it inside of her. He began to pump it in and out, making sure to be gentle and slow while maintaining a steady pace. (Y/n) threw her head back, letting out a cross between a whimper and a moan. It wasn’t like she hadn’t pleasured herself before, she had...numerous times. Sometimes even multiple times a day. But god his fingers? They were so much thicker than hers, so much longer touching and hitting spots she didn’t know were possible. “A-another please.” she whimpered, bucking her hips onto his face. Neville looked up at her, humming around her clit in agreement before he slid in another digit into her tight hole. He felt his dick strain against his pants more at the sound of her moans but he could ignore it. This wasn’t about him right now, it was all about him pleasuring his perfect girl.
“Do you like that, pretty? Hm? Like when I get my fingers covered in you.” He muttered against her, groaning as she clenched around his fingers. He drove them deeper keeping with his slow pace. Neville didn’t want to rush this, he wanted to appreciate the girl who he loved, the girl who kept him up late into the night as he stroked one out. He knew they would share many intimate moments in the months to come but he definitely wanted their first to be the most memorable.
He continued to lick and suck on her bud, pulling away every so often to lick at the stray juices that ran down her folds. “Just one more, pretty. I’ve gotta make sure you’re nice and stretched out for me.” she nodded lazily at his words, feeling herself growing closer and closer by the second. (Y/n) was in such a state of euphoria, never wanting it to end. She let out another strangled moan as Neville slid in a third finger, scissoring them a bit before beginning to make a come hither motion within her. The tips of his fingers rubbed against her spot sending her into a fit of nonsense phrases and words, the most recognizable of them being “please, please. Yes, yes, yes!” which only encouraged him further. With more force he repeatedly began to jab at her g-spot growling as the girl came apart above him. (Y/n) gasped, falling back onto the table as her body grew tense, releasing all over Neville fingers. She continued to moan as her arousal slipped past his fingers running down the table as the boy fingered her through her high. Neville pulled his fingers out, stretching them apart as he stared at the arousal that was connected between the spaces. He stuck his fingers in his mouth, letting out a soft moan at her taste. Just as sweet as he had pictured it.
After a few moments of heavy panting, (Y/n) felt a bit better and decided to sit up. Her (e/c) eyes trailed down her lover’s body as they reached the bulge in his pants. ‘If it’s that big through his pants, I don’t even want to imagine how big it is out of them!’ she found herself thinking. No wonder he had used three fingers, she wasn’t even sure that that was enough. She reached both her hands out, beginning to unfasten his belt pulling down his pants before freeing his member. She held back a gasp as she watched it slap up against his lower abdomen. Neville’s cock was a shade darker than him, it had no curve to it but it didn’t matter. He made up for a lack of curve with the sheer girth of his cock alongside the length (which was most definitely half of her forearm, if not more). She took a deep breath before hopping off of the table and kneeling before him.
“What’re you doing, love?” he asked, reaching a hand down to stroke her cheek.
“Returning the favor?” she replied as she reached a hand forward to grasp him. She looked at him confused as he lifted her back up, setting her back on top of the table.
“You can do that some other time. Right now is about pleasuring you.” he said, moving his lips to her neck as he began to suck and kiss along it leaving a trail of marks in its wake.
“A-are you sure? What about you? I’d feel bad that I’m not pleasing you in return.” a soft frown took over her face. Neville grabbed her face softly, tilting it towards his own.
“Oh darling, taking care of you brings me a greater pleasure than anything you could give me. Tonight is about you so let me just take care of you, yeah?” he asked, looking into her eyes full of love and a deep amount of arousal. She sat there unsure before nodding, leaning up to capture his lips. Neville returned the kiss, trailing the hand that was against her face to wrap gently around her neck. He pulled away, tugging her lip with him. “I’m gonna put it in now. Are you ready?” he asked, lubing himself up with the reminisce of her first orgasm.
“Please be gentle.” she whispered, hiding her face in his neck as he pushed his tip against her entrance.
“‘Course love. I’ll do my best.” he placed a kiss on the top of her head before beginning to sink into her. He let out a hiss at the tight heat of her velvety walls. When he was in enough, he brought both his hands up to embrace her, whispering soft phrases of encouragement as he slid into her tight hole. He couldn’t help but feel guilty at the sound of her whimpers and cries, feeling awful that he was the cause of it.  After what felt like ages, his pelvic region finally met with her mound. He pulled back gazing at the sight as he let out a soft moan.
“Y-you can move now. Feels good.” she stuttered out, gasping as he pulled out some. Neville thrusted into her deeply to test the waters, watching her facial expressions. He felt himself grow relieved when he saw how deep in pleasure she was. Her eyes were clenched shut, chest rising and falling quickly. He took that as a sign to continue, thrusting into her deep and slow. He gripped her hips tightly, deepening the intensity of his thrusts. The boy was absolutely enamored. How could she be so cute in such a filthy state? Tongue lulled out the side of her mouth, hair tousled messily as sweat covered her delicate skin. Seeing her in such bliss only fueled his need to please her, to see her come undone beneath him. He continued to pound into her, every thrust filled with passion.
“You’re so fucking pretty, angel,” he growled out leaning down to capture her breast in his mouth. He swirled his tongue around her nipple, nibbling softly before pulling away and doing the same to the other one. (Y/n) continued to let out a string of moans, tightening her grip on the Gryffindor's back. She couldn’t help but dig her fingers into the flesh of his back, trying to ground herself as her lower region received immense amounts of pleasure. She let out a cry of gratification as he began to rub at her clit with circular motions, digging her heels into his lower back. “God just look at you. You feel so fucking good wrapped around my cock. Who’s making you feel this good?”
“Y-you Nev! S-so good. It’s so deep, so big.” she whimpered as she began to feel hot tears form in her eyes. “Love you so much, I love you!” she sobbed, resting her head on her chest. It was all too much, too good for her to handle. Neville cooed at her adoringly continuing to thrust into her. “C-close….”
“Hold it for just one second of love. Let’s cum together.” He grunted. After a few moments, he felt a familiar pit in his stomach signaling his release. His thrust began to grow sloppy, hips stuttering but as he went to pull out, the girl stopped him.
“Please don’t. I’m on birth control. Want you to cum inside of me, want you to fill me up.” Neville gripped at her hips harder, pistoning them with an animalistic amount of pace. The moans of them both echoed off the greenhouse walls as they both released, collapsing against one another. (Y/n) shuddered, whimpering at the feeling of his thick seed spilling inside of her. It seemed nonstop, pouring and pouring deeper inside of her, dribbling out past him and onto the table.
Neville let out a breathless chuckle at the sight, feeling a sense of pride at the fact that it was his seed dripping out of her. No one else. Not Malfoy, not his idiot friends, and certainly not those morons from in the hallway earlier. He stroked her skin gentle, watching as she shuddered at his touch. “Sorry love, it seems I left quite the mark on your neck.” he mumbled, brushing his fingertips along the healing mark he had left. It was a big purple hickey, the same shade as the bruises on her hips.
“S’okay. I’ll have something that reminds me of you. I think I accidentally gave you one too when I came. I couldn’t help myself.” Neville viewed his reflection in the small hanging mirror across the room. Moving his long shaggy hair to the side, he saw a small reddish bruise, the indent from her teeth still visible.
“It’s a shame that I didn’t get to show you the rest of the plants you wanted.” he frowned. He had totally forgotten that was the entire reason they had come to the greenhouse today. Neville wanted his girl’s first day at Hogwarts to be absolutely perfect in every way and he had ruined it in his own fit of selfish greed.
“Are you kidding me?” she asked, sitting up. She winced slightly but continued on. “This was way better than any sort of plant! Nothing says ‘welcome to Hogwarts’ like what we just had.” Neville let out a breath that he wasn’t even aware he had been holding.
Even though this was the first day of them meeting in person, he knew this was the girl for him. As the sun set and they both held each other in their arms, the pair couldn’t help but wonder what was in store for them. What adventures lie ahead? Only time could tell. But luckily they didn’t have to spend another minute apart. (Y/n) was no longer just a flight away, but a mere inches apart.

A Day With The Genshin Characters: Liyue Edition
Tumblr media
Today's going to be a busy day! Check your planner for who you'll be meeting with- as one of the esteemed members of the Liyue Qixing, you cannot afford to be late to any appointment.
• 6:00, Ningguang: Morning Tea
Although you say you love your job, waking up at un-archonly hours has to be the part you like the least. Even getting up at five in the morning, the hour when tigers prowl, is still not enough time to prepare for a meeting with the Tianquan. You rush around frantically choosing the best outfit, fragrance, and hair arrangement to present yourself to Lady Ningguang, and you're halfway out the door when it hits you- you forgot to bring a gift with you!
"Right on time," Ningguang says, pleased. You smile, hoping she won't hear your heart beating from anxiety. "And what a lovely present, too... is there any doubt you were appointed as one of the seven Qixing?" (You can't tell if it's her rare praise, or the sheer altitude you're at within the Jade Chamber, that's making your head spin).
• 7:00, Keqing: Business Meeting
You barely have time to rest before Keqing whisks you away to Yuehai Pavilion. You're very close friends, and you admire the girl for her tenacity and diligence. The conversation flows easily as you walk to your destination under a cloudless sky. It's a wonderfully sunny moment, but the moment the doors lock, you mean business. In the next two hours, you conquer matters that would normally take days to resolve, and the two of you exchange grins.
"There we go!" Keqing breathes a sigh of relief, pushing away the last stack of papers. She holds up her hand, and you high-five. "You know, I like how easily you keep up with me. You even caught mistakes I would have missed... things like this make me even more certain Liyue is better off in human hands."
• 9:00: Check In With Ganyu
With such a hectic schedule, Ganyu is your saving grace. It's always important to check in with her, just to make sure nothing you have planned catches you by surprise, and sometimes you wonder why others rarely do the same. She's quite lonely, and often mentions how nice it is that you speak with her every day and bring her gifts to help with work. It may be part of your job to be courteous, but... it does help her feel less lonely and conflicted with herself.
"Qingxin flowers? Thank you so much." She accepts them gratefully, smiling at you with warm eyes. "I still have that new stationery you gave me, too. You're so kind for remembering the things I like!"
• 9:30: Talk to Beidou
The tea in the Jade Chamber was just a front for Ningguang to spring a request on you- meet with the captain of the Crux Fleet to discuss her... recent smuggling habits. But Beidou merely laughs heartily when you arrive. A crewmate tosses her a sack of Mora, and she slits it open, letting the payment shower over you in a spray of gold. And then, before you know what's happening, you're roped into helping them find a treasure rumored to be lost beneath the waves.
"So, Ningguang though sending her star diplomat would get me to let up, huh!" You blush, wondering how you could be so easy to read under her ruby eye. "I was impressed by your words, and how well you fought by my side. But the annoyance of the Liyue Qixing is of no concern to me."
• 12:00, Tartaglia: TEACH HIM A LESSON!
As the member of the Qixing that oversees diplomacy and foreign relations, it's you that must meet with the Fatui Harbinger. He's quite good at playing pretend- all your underlings believed he was a naive, careless young man, and easily manipulated, too. And all of them ended up suppressing the urge to break something after they were done conversing with him. On your honor as one of Liyue's seven stars, you vow to not make their mistakes.
"You're asking why I don't try to drive you mad?" he said, setting down his fork. You'd caved in and given him one after watching him struggle with chopsticks for far too long. "You're the only one who isn't a bore to talk to, that's all-" so this was on purpose?!- "and besides, I want to challenge you to a fight afterwards! Your vision's getting quite dusty from neglect, comrade. Let's fix that!"
• 2:00, Yanfei: Discussion of Legal Matters
Yanfei's counsel is an invaluable treasure. Especially when dealing with an opponent as vicious as Snezhnaya's Fatui, who deserve to have her wrath unleashed upon them. You walk to her office with a gleam in your eyes, and are delighted to see an equal fire already blazing in hers. For the next few hours, you two take the "suggestions" Tartaglia passed on from the Northland Bank and scheme on how to best tear them to shreds with the law.
"That man-childe's been giving you trouble again, huh," she giggles. "What did he come up with this time~? I've been waiting for an excuse to bring out the latest edition of my lawbook!" And with that, Yanfei slams it down, and the sheer weight of it nearly cracks her desk. "He won't know what hit him!"
• 4:00: Free Time
Of course, "free time" simply means that you have no meetings scheduled for this hour, which lets you adequately prepare for the next day's events. Tomorrow is your appointment with the Feiyun Commerce Guild, which you already know will require great patience and strength of mind. Because the head of the guild, and his eldest son, the future head, are- to put it mildly- not very bright... it's fortunate, then, that the second son Xingqiu has a good head on his shoulders.
"Tomorrow, you should go straight to me instead," Xingqiu informs you cheerily, handing you a popsicle. Apparently, he keeps them around for his friend Chongyun, who's off to complete another exorcism. "I'll be sure to set everything in order." His eyes gleam. "And then, I can tell you the latest developments in 'A Legend of Sword'!"
• 5:00: Catch Xinyan's Concert!
Liyue's one and only rock musician isn't hard to find, thanks to the designated performance spots scattered around the city. You stop by at the raised platform where she's rocking out, where other people are listening as well. Xinyan strikes a peace sign in the air, and her vision glows with energy before the stage erupts with pillars of fire; her audience bursts into cheers and applause, and she's beaming as she leaps down to meet you.
"Wait, seriously? You really changed up the rules a lil' so it'll be easier for me to hold concerts here?" Her eyes shine as they scan the papers- one of the many results of your work today in Yuehai. "Thank you so much! Wait-" she picks up her guitar again, giving it an experimental riff. "Let me think up a quick song for ya as thanks- I insist!"
• 6:00: Wangsheng Funeral Parlor
Lately, you've been sent particularly determined requests from the other nations about allowing tourists to observe the ancient funeral rites. You already know the answer's gonna be a hard no, but the laws written by Rex Lapis state that you must check with the director anyway. She's not there when you arrive, so a consultant, Zhongli, brings you tea while you wait for her. You sit together in the fading sun, waiting for Hu Tao's familiar song to rise above the hill.
Zhongli takes a quiet sip from his cup, closing his luminous eyes. "Although it was Rex Lapis who created the laws, they are not meant to be set in stone. Humans must revise the contract as they see fit, so that it will not erode with the passage of time." Something makes you feel as though it's more significant to him than you know. Then, he smiles slightly. "But, just looking at the people leading the way in his absence, like you... there's no need for me to worry."
• 8:00: Dinner; Request Chef Xiangling
The Wanmin Restaurant, run by Chef Mao and his daughter, is a breath of fresh air. While the rest of Liyue is divided between the "Li" and "Yue" styles of cooking, Xiangling pays the conflict no mind. Instead, she's not afraid to be daring and experiment, blazing ahead without worrying about what others think. You can see some similarities between her and Keqing, but it's best not to mention it after that disastrous banquet they organized together...
"Had a rough day, didn't you?" Xiangling asks, her golden eyes twinkling as she hands you the steaming hot bowl. "Well, for you, I made sure to prepare your favorite dish! I hope you don't mind if I added a lizard or two this time- I'm kidding!" she adds quickly, upon seeing alarm flash across your face.
• 9:00: Return Home
After everything that happened, you're eager to collect the reports from your subordinates and head home to draft new revisions for Tianquan Ningguang to look over (and then, hopefully, get some rest). But as you're walking on the path to your neighborhood, you spot a little girl sitting in the grass, clutching her head. Alarm rises in your chest as you rush over to see what's wrong, and why she's alone- only to realize with a start that she's the child that returned from the dead.
"Thank you for taking Qiqi back to Bubu Pharmacy," she says, reading solemnly from her notebook (where the entire thank-you script is written). Even when you set her down, she's still reading the pieces of paper. "Will you tell Dr. Baizhu where I got lost? Please and thank you, again."
• 10:00: Sleep
In the end, you never did get to those revisions. You can hear your fellow Qixing scolding you in your head, but at least you got plenty of other things done; the well-oiled machine that is Liyue will still keep running on thanks to the tasks you accomplished today. Someday, even the adepti will have to acknowledge the ability of humans... you turn in your bed to feel the coolness of the other side. Speaking of adepti... the night air coming in... reminds you of... "Xiao..."
"I thought you were in danger," the adeptus huffs. The moment you said his name, you'd finally fallen asleep, but it still brought Xiao to you- balanced on the windowsill, hair waving in the breeze. "Still... I'm... glad that you're alright," he admits, glancing at you to make sure you're not awake to hear. "Rest well, bright star of Liyue." And then, with a sound like a sigh- or was it the wind?- he's gone.

ER Nurse Rafe x ER Nurse Reader
Reposting from my deleted account with minor edits.
Tumblr media
Not my GIF all credit to owner/creator @ketterdamz <3
“Rafe Cameron!” You scolded as you inspected your neck in the mirror.
“What?” He called pulling back the shower curtain.
“You left a huge hickey on my neck and my scrubs are not covering it.” You whined.
Rafe stepped out of the shower in all his naked glory and it was almost impossible to be mad at him ...almost.
“Take a picture babe, it’ll last longer” Rafe teased as he grabbed a towel and dried off. You ignored him teasing you for staring a moment too long and turned back to the mirror.
He came closer to you to look at your neck. “Ooh yeah, that’s a good one. Won’t make up cover it?” He asked, touching his finger to your skin. You swatted his hand away.
“No, I already tried” you sighed.
“Just wear your hair down today. No one will notice.” He dismissed.
“I don’t wear my hair down at work, it gets in the way and gets all covered in germs.”
“Well, looks like your options are to wear your hair down for one day or to have everyone see the mark I left and learn what a dirty little girl you can be.” He ended his sentence in a lower tone as he took your earlobe between his teeth lightly.
“Rafe” you breathed, “We don’t have time for this. We’re already late.” You said, shoving his scrubs into his chest while he pouted at you.
“Don’t give me that look. You’re the one who pressed the snooze button twice.” You told him.
Rafe groaned. Then, you and Rafe got in your separate cars and drove to the hospital, still trying to keep your relationship a secret.
-
Later at work, you had long forgotten about the mark on your neck and put your hair into a ponytail without thinking.
“Looks like someone had fun recently.” Estephany commented.
“Huh? What’re you talking about?” You asked in confusion.
“I’m talking about the hickey someone left on your neck” she said, pointing at it.
“Oh, no, it’s from my curling iron” you lied.
Rafe snorted. You turned to look at him with your eyes narrowed.
“Problem, Cameron?” You asked him.
“Isn’t your hair always straight?” He asked, knowing he was digging you further in your lie.
“So my flat iron then” You said with extra bite on the consonants, giving him a warning look.
“That is definitely a hickey!” Chloe exclaimed. “Come on y/n/n! Spill! Who’s the guy?”
“Is he cute? Show us a picture” Estephany encouraged.
“Yeah, Rookie, is he cute?” Rafe asked, obviously amused by the situation.
“Ehh he’s okay.” You said to the girls and then smirking at Rafe who shook his head with a smile, still amused by you getting grilled about the mark he left.
“The sex must be good. Leaving you with hickeys and shit? He’s kinky, huh?” Estephany pressed. And you blushed for a second until you caught Rafe out of the corner of your eye.
He had a proud smugness spread across his face.
“He’s pretty vanilla actually.” You shrugged, looking to Rafe. Now you were the one amused as he glared at you.
“Ahh boo!” Chloe complained.
Your patient was calling for you, “I have to go” you chuckled, walking away.
Rafe got called away to admit a new patient, leaving Chloe and Estephany smiling at each other.
“So they’re definitely together right?” Chloe asked.
“Oh yeah, for sure.” Estephany agreed.
-
After that conversation, you put your hair back down. But later you moved it off your shoulder while you were helping one of the techs put a new sheet on one of the stretchers.
“Oh damn girl. I heard you had a hickey on your neck. But shit, that’s gnarly.” Will, the tech, commented.
Rafe was priming an IV line for the patient next to you and you could see him holding back laughs.
“Shut up.” You told Will and Rafe, punching Rafe’s arm as you walked by and leaving Will to finish making the bed.
-
“Hey Dr. Bridges, how are you today?” you asked one of the younger ER docs that you had a good rapport with.
“Not as good as you apparently. I heard you have a hot new boyfriend. That is a large hematoma, dear.”
“Seriously?!” You yelled in exasperation. “Does everyone have an opinion about my hickey?!” you asked rhetorically, “I’m going to lunch. I hate all of you.” A chorus of chuckles came from your coworkers.
You walked into the empty break room. You looked at your neck in the reflective surface of the stainless steel microwave.
Rafe came into the break room with a huge grin on his face.
“Don’t say a fucking word.” You warned. “This is all your fault. Now everyone thinks I’m some sex crazed nympho!”
Rafe couldn’t hold back the laugh that came out. You looked at him with a deep furrow in your brow. “It’s not funny Rafe!”
Rafe wrapped his arms around your waist. “Baby, no one thinks that. They’re just teasing! You know that’s just how we all are.” He assured you, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I’m getting you back.” You decided.
Rafe was entertained by your threat, “Looking forward to it, pretty girl.”
-
A couple days later you were sitting on the couch when you got a text from one of the night shift nurses you were good friends with.
“Hey I heard about your hickey lol who’s the guy? ...or girl?”
You glared at no one. And turned to see Rafe laying on the ground in the other room, stretching before he was gonna go run.
You straddled him and roughly pushed his chin to the side exposing his neck to you and swiftly sunk your teeth into his skin and sucked hard.
“What the hell are you doing, you little vampire?!” Rafe yelled at you and grabbed your hips, pinching them to get you to unlatch your mouth from his neck.
You pulled back and smiled, admiring the wet, red mark you left.
“Just getting you back for the other day.” You said simply and started to get up, but Rafe held your hips down and rolled so he was on top of you.
“You think you can just come over here and do that and I’m gonna let you get up and leave?” He asked, looking down at you.
“’Yeah’ seems like the wrong answer.” You said squinting your eyes in thoughtfulness. Rafe pinned your arms down and peppered tickling kisses all over you while you giggled.
“Rafe!” you squealed. Let’s just say Rafe didn’t end up going for a run, but he still got a workout.
-
The next day you were at the hospital and you got there before Rafe did. When he walked in you could spot the mark on his neck from across the room. No hair or makeup to cover it even a little. You smiled to yourself.
“Nice, Cameron” Will said, fist bumping him in passing as he took note of the mark. Rafe barely looked up and just returned the fist bump. You furrowed your brow in confusion as the scene played out in front of you.
-
“Geez Cameron you and Y/N seem to both have partners who like biting.”  Estephany commented.
“Yeah, my girl’s a little ...overzealous sometimes.” Rafe said with a smirk, before glancing at you. And the conversation ended there. You rolled your eyes.
-
“You don’t look happy over here, Rookie” Rafe said, leaning on the wall next to you in the med room.
You turned to him in a pout. “They aren’t teasing you like they teased me! This is some sexism bullshit!”
Rafe smiled at you, “No, you’re just more fun to tease. You get all feisty and adorably mad.”
You took a step toward him, “Me being mad is not adorable! Don’t patronize me!” you warned.
“I’m not talking about when you’re seriously mad!” Rafe defended, backing up from you and holding his hands up to catch your’s. He backed into the wall behind him. “I’m sorry! You’re not adorable. You’re super scary.” Rafe tried to appease you.
“Stop pacifying me! You’re just making it worse” You punched his shoulder again.
“Ow!” He yelled. You gave him a dirty look, knowing he was trying to make you feel better by pretending your punch hurt. He dropped his fake pained expression and smiled at you.
“Y/N, you know I think the world of you. I have nothing but respect and admiration for you. I’m so happy to have a partner in life who does more than keep up with me; you set the bar babe. I don’t ever mean to patronize you. ...But you are pretty damn cute when you’re feisty and have an attitude. And you can’t even be upset about that because you’ve told me I’m hot when I’m mad too.”
You rolled your lips together knowing this was true but not wanting to admit Rafe was right. He pulled you close to him by your hips. “I swear, I’ll never leave a hickey on such a visible spot again unless you ask me to. I’m sorry you got shit for it.” He said pecking the fading mark on your neck.
“Thank you” you said quietly and smiled up at your boyfriend. “I’m sorry I left one on you too. Even though no one gave you shit for it.” You grumbled the last part.
Rafe chuckled. “Let’s go home and leave marks other places, pretty girl.”
“Deal” you smiled.

rejected ; c.h. (intro)
hello!! this is a rewrite of a fic i wrote in 2016 (part one / part two). i honestly loved this fic when i wrote it years ago, and because i love it i decided to rewrite it! i rewrote it for multiple reasons, mainly because the pacing in the original was too fast, and because i wanted to change it up a bit plot-wise and style-wise. i also wanted to make this a longer fic so the pacing isn't fast again lol
this is just the intro -- mostly because it didn't fit as the opening for part one, and it kind of allows information to be given so you can apply it when you read the parts. also trying something new lol i guess this can kind of be viewed as a teaser ?? maybe ?? i'm not too sure, but :^D (i don't really think it grabs your attention and not all the information i want is in there, but again, it's an introduction! :^D)
pairing: calum hood x reader (no pronouns for the reader) genre: fluff, angst, classmates to friends to lovers au, college au summary: he was just a silly little crush that you had in high school, and you were sure that after graduating, you would be over it. so why is your heart beating fast as he sits next to you in your first class on your first day of college? word count: 716 (not completely edited so i apologize for any mistakes!)
original story from 2016: part one / part two my masterlist!
Growing up, you expected your first day of college to be the start of a new life. A new place, a new vision of the world, new friends (but still keeping in touch with your old ones), and a new you. You wanted to be someone you could be proud of, in terms of knowledge, personality, and style. With college, you expect yourself to find your confidence and to not let anyone or anything put a damper on it.
Sure, it sounds easy to do – we all have grand ideas in mind of what we want to do when the time comes for said idea. There are obstacles, big and small, but you find a way to overcome them and keep moving forward.
In reality, putting those ideas and objectives into fruition is not easy. You focus on the obstacles more than the actual ideas themselves, and eventually those obstacles become the main focal point, while the ideas get lodged in the back of your mind.
After graduating from high school, you were ecstatic to move on to the next chapter of your life. You were ready to say goodbye to the high school you, opening your arms to the upcoming college you.
It wasn’t that high school was terrible—albeit there were a handful of embarrassing moments—and honestly you can say you had a lot of fun during your four years.
However, there were some things you were ready to move on from. The embarrassing tumble you took going down the stairs at dismissal, stumbling over easy words during presentations, having your phone confiscated during class – the usual embarrassing moments that you’ll randomly think about when you’re trying to fall asleep.
Another thing you’re ready to move on from is a crush you had on a classmate. He was in at least two classes of yours every year, the most being five out of seven classes. In every class you had him in, you would spend most of the class watching him, hearts in your eyes as he smiled with his friends, fluttering heart when he would glance your way, offering a smile.
You did group projects with him at least once a year, and each time proved that he truly was a good guy. He did his share, helped others when they needed it, offered to do most of the talking during the presentation (if you weren’t being graded on that portion), and provided motivation.
The times you talked to him, and didn’t stumble over your words, were moments you cherished throughout your high school tenure.
An unrequited crush (not enough to be love, you were adamant on that, despite the teasing from your friends), simply something to get your heart going during your high school life. Just a silly, little crush.
And you were ready to let him go, move on in your life, meet someone new and fall in love.
You were ready, until you walked into your English Literature class on Monday.
It’s a community college, so you’re bound to see plenty of familiar faces, but you were sure Calum Hood would’ve been in a state university or some private college out-of-state.
But after you’ve taken your seat in front, focused on texting your friends good morning and mindlessly scrolling through social media, you notice the seat to your right that was previously unoccupied now has a warm body sitting on it.
When you glance at the person, who glanced when you did, the fluttering of your heart returned at a rate that has you gasping lightly. The smile you enjoyed in high school beams down at you again.
“Hey,” he brings his hand up to rest his chin, eyes sleepy as he glances around the room briefly, “I remember you.”
You nod, “Yeah, you too.”
“Small world, huh?” He chuckles, leaning back in his seat to stretch his legs.
“Yeah,” you can’t make proper eye contact, but you try to be welcoming so you don’t drive him away. A few moments pass before you speak up again, “Funny how we have yet another class together.”
“It must be destiny,” he jokes.
You swear it’s just a silly crush, and you’re over it. You have to be.
And yet, the fluttering doesn’t stop. Shit, you may have underestimated your feelings.

You Only Water Plants With Cool Water
Rukawa Kaede x reader, sfw, fluff, word count 1,435
reader is a painter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rukawa and you both had practice. Studio sessions, gym time, he needed to go to the store for new basketball shoes, you needed new paper or canvas. He knew when you had had a bad day. When every stroke of pigment was wrong, when you had to change water too many times. You knew when he had messed up his scoring percentages, or when he’d landed a shot not to his liking.
You also had good days though. Ones where you would be electrified, dragging Rukawa to the tiny bedroom studio in the apartment, excited to show him a new piece. He tried to be subtle about sharing his smaller successes with you. Quietly asking to go on a walk to the park on weekend mornings, picking up a basketball before heading out the door.
While Rukawa couldn't exactly understand painting, or art, he did understand you. He saw how hard you worked, the same as him. You too were striving for something. So he lets you ramble on about new art books you had bought, different painters you admired, ones you hated, an art supplies store you wanted to try your luck at. This was also how you understood him. You saw how at home Rukawa watched all the NBA games, kept tabs on different players.
The two of your respective passions consumed lots of your life. Which is why he didn't mind when you had the door to the studio closed when he got home from the gym. You didn't bother him when he was watching a game. He would sleep on the small couch you had tucked in the corner of the studio, the radio giving a play by play of some game. Legs hanging off the arm rest, simply enjoying being in your presence. Some days you would go to his practices, half watching, half sketching out ideas for a new chunk of canvas. This was one of those days.
Looking up from your lap you see that practice is almost over. You set aside your work to focus on Rukawa completely. He really is something else on the court. Brash, aggressive, and still sly. Those parts of Rukawa were the same. The part of him that bluntly told you while out shopping what did look ugly, that way you swore he moved stuff around in the fridge to mess with you, or how he shoulder checked people a little too often. When he was playing basketball it was like the various gears and screws that made up Rukawa were perfectly made to play, like it was the only that life made sense to him. It added something to his outward psyche, a fire of energy that exuded from every pore.
You watch as the team starts to wind down. Shooting from various points on the court, running sprints from one side to the other, to end practice there was a complicated passing drill that you couldn't follow. You were prepared to leave, grab some take out on the way home, but when Rukawa came over to you he flopped onto the bleachers.
“Hey! Come on you can't sleep here”
With a sweat towel covering his face he mumbles,
“I can sleep anywhere, just give me a couple minutes”
But you know with Rukawa that a couple minutes can range from thirty minutes to hours. You pull on his arm trying to get him up, his eyes are stubbornly closed though. You poke, you blow air on his nose, you ruffle his hair and pull on his clothes. When that doesn't work you try threats.
“I won't pay for dinner”
“I was going to pay”
He says, words muffled by the towel. Exasperated you sit back onto the cold bleachers. You reach into a plastic bag you have settled down by your feet. It's from the craft store, new paint, new brushes, you had stopped there on the way to see Rukawa. Cautiously you pull out some paint and let it rest against Rukawa's skin.
“If you don't get up, I’m gonna paint you”
“I dont care”
“Really?”
“Why would I care?”
Before you two had been playful, teasing, but when he asks that he is genuine. Like he couldn't possibly comprehend why that would bother anyone. He has one eye open now, peaking at you, seeing that you are considering it now.
“I don't care, go ahead, just let me sleep”
At first you're still a little apprehensive. You are slow to fill up one of the paper cups from the players bench with the water fountain. You use the colors little by little. Mixing them in the palm of your non dominant hand. You start with his arm. The paint moves differently on his sweat tinted skin and you have to adjust.
Rukawa floats in and out of sleep. Lazily watching your concentrated expression move expertly over him. He likes the way the brushes feel, the cool of the paint. He notes that you're holding his hand differently, it's deliberate, your fingers not laced with his but clasping onto him. You do this so you can twist his arm this way and that. He can see blues and greens mixed onto your own skin in puddles. Then he’s back asleep.
You are no longer paying attention to Rukawa, or the dance group that came to use the gym for practice. You like working here. The gym lights are bright, the AC blasting cold air. You were originally only going to do something small. But now Rukawa's entire right arm has been consumed by paint. You are putting the last few strokes of detail on his arm knowing that you aren't done yet. You are afraid to dab at the paint to see if its dry, you blow on it and Rukawa gives a small smile at the sensation.
You pull the towel off of Rukawa’s head and lay it over his chest, placing his arm there too. You grab your bag of supplies and move to the row of bleachers below Rukawa. His left leg your new target. This is harder for Rukawa to sit through at first. The bristles of the brush more ticklish, but it is soon calming once again. He wants to see what you’ve painted on his arm but his eyes are still so heavy, he so tired.
“Wow you're really good!”
“Thanks! He’s a pretty good canvas!”
Rukawa wakes at the sound of your voice.
“Oh sorry I didn't mean to wake you!”
It must be one of the girls from that dance team he decides.
“It’s okay he sleeps plenty”
You tell the girl, she laughs a little before waving herself away. You're packing up your things, swirling brushes into the cup of water, twisting paint tubes closed. Finally feeling satisfied with his nap, Rukawa slowly gets up. Used to sleeping wherever he pleases the dull ache from the bleachers doesn't bother him much. He rubs the sleep from his eyes and sees it.
You've painted a river. From his right shoulder to his left ankle is a river. Patches of grass and flowers growing along parts of it, stones, clouds, waterfalls, waves of water. It’s dynamic, twisting over the grooves of his muscles. You are surprised at how gentle his fingers move along the outline of the water, tracing it down his whole arm. In between his knuckles the water fades off his hand in droplets. The red flowers a bold contrast to the cool colors of the water. Fish leaping in and out of the water, some not even breaking the blue surface of paint, shadows of warm color beneath the water.
“You like it?”
You ask, he only nods, still admiring your work. You get him off the bleachers, once standing the daze he was in wears off. He grabs his duffle bag and the two of you head out. The night air is refreshing, the sky dark blue but bright like how it is in the summer. The street is still buzzing from the dusk. People on the way home from work, light traffic in the street, store and street lights flickering in the newness of the night.
“I’m sorry”
“Huh?”
You don't know what Rukawa could possibly be apologizing for.
“I’m gonna have to take a shower and the paint will wash off”
“That’s okay I knew that when I did it”
Rukawa seems discontent with this answer but you aren't sure how to help ease him. At the next block Rukawa turns the wrong way.
“Where are you going the-”
“Walgreens”
“What?”
“They have disposable cameras at Walgreens.”

The Reason
The Reason
Summary: You can’t sleep as you near Moff Gideon’s ship, but neither can Din. He wants to tell you about what happened on Morak.
Pairing: Din Djarin x GN!Reader
Word Count: 1.9k
Rating/Warnings: SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 15!!!! Other than the spoilers, it’s all fluff and no editing lol. But seriously, if you’re avoiding finding out what happens in Season 2, Episode 7 / Chapter 15 of The Mandalorian, don’t read this yet. It takes place after, and there’s talk of what happened during the episode.
A/N: It seems like every freaking week I watch the episode and tell myself “don’t write something. Everyone will be writing something, you don’t need to add in your silly fic too.” (Not to say I don’t enjoy reading them, but I just always feel like I won’t be adding anything new.) Well, this week I said fuck it and cranked this little ditty out this morning after the new episode. I hope y’all like it.
Edit: Follow-up drabble here
Tumblr media
You sat silently beside Din as the ship - not the Razor Crest that had become your home over the past months, but Boba Fett’s ship Slave I - travelled through space. If the coordinates were right, you were heading into what was sure to be a hard-fought battle but it would be worth it. It was all to get Grogu back.
You willed yourself not to cry as you thought of the little green child you’d come to think of as your own. What he must be feeling right now. Alone and scared while they did unthinkable experiments to him. You’d cried several times since he’d been taken from your care, sick with worry over him. You were sick of crying. Soon would be the time for action, for getting him back.
Fennec and Dune were both sleeping on the opposite side of the bay. You tried to sleep, knowing you’d need your wits about you when you reached Moff Gideon’s ship, but sleep wouldn’t come. Sleep was hard to come by lately.
A whisper to your left surprised you. The low, modulated voice speaking your name. You had thought he was also asleep, reserving his strength for the battle to come. You should have known he’d be struggling to sleep too.
He nodded his head to the side as he unbuckled the harness keeping him secure in the seat. You nodded as you unbuckled your own and followed him to the darkened corner of the hold. You waited for him to sit in the corner, knowing he liked to have his back secured and a view of the room. Instead, he gently led you into the corner and sat with his back to the others. You were too surprised to ask, you followed his lead and slid down the wall to sit on the floor.
He hadn’t said much of what happened on Morak, but you hadn’t been expecting him to. You’d learned long ago he wasn’t one for unnecessary chatter. There were times he tried, for you and the kid, helping to fill the silences as time passed on the ship. Hearing him strain, pushing the boundaries of his usual comforts to ease the minds of you and his foundling, was one of the ways he snuck into your heart.
It wasn’t easy loving The Mandalorian. He was so used to being alone, both physically alone and having few people to trust. It took a while, but you earned that trust. You knew you had. You also knew he cared about you in his own special way. He would take your hand in his larger gloved hand to avoid losing you in a crowd. His hand would squeeze yours when you were visibly anxious. A hand on your shoulder, your back, or your hip as he passed you in tight quarters. Leaning his forehead against yours anytime the two of you parted.
To most these fleeting moments wouldn’t look like much, but you knew the stoic Mandalorian didn’t give these touches lightly. That his keldabe kiss was just as precious as any lip-to-lip contact.
You didn’t fully understand his creed. He answered questions when you asked, but a lot of it didn’t make sense to you, an outsider. Even so, you never pushed him to break it or put him in a position that made him feel like the creed was in danger.
“I know you’re worried,” his voice was quiet. The crackling of the modulator even more prominent as it tried to broadcast his hushed tone. “We’ll get him back.”
“I know.” You nodded, looking down at your crossed legs. If anyone could rescue Grogu, it was the man sitting across from you.
That large gloved hand entered your vision, resting lightly on your knee. A small smile broke through your worry at the man’s attempt at comfort. You placed your hand over his, feeling the warmth of him through the smooth leather.
“I-” He started to speak before stopping himself. While it wasn’t unusual for him to search for his words, he usually did so before starting to speak. By the time he spoke, he was confident and sure in what he had to say. That short, clipped syllable caught your attention in how different it was. He was trying to tell you something, but still wasn’t sure how.
“What is it?” You gently prompted, squeezing his hand with your own.
“On Morak…” He sighed.
“What happened on Morak?” You asked after a beat.
“I did what had to be done.”
His answer confused you. You knew that already of course, but it also sounded like he was trying to convince himself as well as you.
“I know that. You got the coordinates. We’re going to find the kid because of you and Mayfield.” You smiled at him, praising him for the success. It was easy to overlook the triumph when it was just a stepping stone to a much larger problem.
“I had to…” He looked away from you as he once again searched for the words. Your smile dropped a fraction with his unease. “I had to take off the helmet.”
You didn’t know what you were expecting him to reveal, but it hadn’t been that. You knew that he had taken the helmet off months ago, but that had been a life or death situation. No one had been around, just the IG droid who had treated his wounds and saved him. This was a mining refinery full of people. Full of imps.
“Are you okay?” You asked, moving your hand from where it was resting on top of his so you could grip his hand fully. “What happened?”
“I-I had to.” He stuttered. “The terminal had to scan my face to get the coordinates.”
“Mando,” you didn’t dare speak his name - something he had shared with you in confidence - with others around. “Are you okay?”
He nodded once. Relief filled your body. You foremost worry had been for him, and how he would have felt to have broken his life-long creed. You supposed with the explosions, anyone who would have seen his face was likely dead. Unless Mayfield had seen him.
His hand slipped from yours as he brought both of his hands up to the sides of his helmet. He started pushing it up and your eyes widened as a sliver of skin was revealed. You surged forward, covering his hands in your own to stop him.
“What are you doing?”
“I want to. To show you.” He explained. His voice came in this awkward mix of his natural timber through the bottom of his helmet and the modulator still trying to pick up his voice. You could see his chin move as he spoke. Your heart was racing. It was the most you’d ever seen of his face.
“You don’t have to.” You told him firmly.
“I think… I think there are reasons to keep it on, and reasons to take it off.” He spoke slowly, like it was something he had been thinking about. You thought of the Mandalorians on Trask who claimed the creed was outdated. You thought of Boba Fett in the cockpit, who wore his newly-polished armor with the pride of a mandalorian despite being without it for years. Thought about him revealing his face for the information needed to save his foundling.
“I want to show you my face.” He told you, his voice unwavering. It was the surety, the confidence you had grown used to from him. “I want to show who I am to the one I love.”
Your breath caught in your throat at his admission. You knew it in your heart, but he’d never said the words aloud to you before. You bit your lip as you felt the tears welling in your eyes again, this time from happiness instead of grief and worry.
“Okay.” You breathed, barely able to find your voice.
With your hands still on his, he lifted the helmet, revealing his face inch by inch. You held your breath as he was slowly revealed to you.
The scruff covering his jaw. His plush lips. The mustache over his mouth. His aquiline nose. His deep brown eyes. His shaggy dark brown hair. He set his helmet in his lap as your eyes scanned his face.
Wow.
You hadn’t realized you had said that out loud until his eyebrows furrowed. That was new. You were used to guessing his emotions through his body language, his tone of voice. Now you had facial expressions to read. He was waiting for your reaction and you hadn’t given him much to go by.
“You’re gorgeous.” You told him. It was the only way you could think to describe the ridiculously handsome man sitting in front of you. You were almost mad at him for hiding his face away for this long.
His lips quirked up in a lopsided grin, a single dimple appearing in his cheek. Maker, you thought he’d already taken your breath away and then this-
“Come here.” He ordered. His natural voice was deep. Rich. It sent a shiver down your spine.
“Huh?” Your brain wasn’t processing. It was in some kind of overloaded state. Din’s face. Din’s voice. Din’s beautiful brown eyes that you could simply drown in.
His hand was on your cheek, pulling you into him. You gasped, holding your breath as his lips brushed against yours. You had dreamed of this, but not a single one of those dreams lived up to the real thing.
He was hesitant, clumsy even as he kissed you. His lips were chapped against your own, the stubble on his cheeks tickling your skin. He smelt of sweat and blaster fire, of fresh air and leather. Maker, you could melt into the floor of the ship never to be seen again and you would have been happy with the life you had lived.
“I love you.” You whispered against his lips. You felt him smile in response.
You brought your hand up to his cheek. Feeling the lines of his face with your hand, you trailed your hand to his hair. It was damp with sweat but so soft. It felt amazing between your fingers.
“Where’s Mando?” A voice across the bay shocked both of you, the two of you shooting away from each other as if you’d been burned. You felt like a teenager who had been caught making out by your parents. You looked over Din’s shoulder as he pulled the helmet back into place - his strategic placement of the two of you making sense now. Not only did he not want them to see his face, but he trusted you to have his back. That thought made your heart speed up even more than it already was.
You saw Fennec shaking Cara awake. Luckily she hadn’t looked in this direction yet. Had Cara woken first, she likely would have seen the two of you.
“Sorry, we’re over here.” You admitted, trying to calm the heat in your face. It was dim in the hold, hopefully they couldn’t tell. “We were talking, didn’t want to wake you.”
“You should be sleeping.” Fennec told you,  leveling you with a gaze that truly did make you feel like you’d been caught doing something wrong by a parent.
“I should be sleeping.” Cara grumbled, cranky for having been woken up for no reason.
“Come on. We’re all gonna need to be at our best.” Fennec said, ignoring Cara.
“She’s right.” Din admitted, standing up and offering you his hand. You took it, letting him help you to stand. “Let’s try to get some sleep, cyar'ika.”

A Happy Ending Yet to Happen
Characters: Xiao x F!Reader (Y/N), implied traveler x Xiao at end, ft. Venti and Paimon Fandom: Genshin Impact WC: 8.2k words Tags: character death, immortal(?) x mortal, grief, sadness, tears, angst, spoilers for Xiao’s voice lines and stories, Xiao might be slightly OOC in some scenes A/N: I’m pretty sure you can’t call Xiao an immortal since yakshas can die and stuff but like they live a long time so it sorta works HAHA. Also this hasn’t really been beta read and so there’s probably a couple of mistakes, sorry about that!
[EDIT] I FORGOT A PART FLIP- anyways yeah I accidently deleted a part somehow while it was in the doc??? Idk what happened but it’s back slkasdjasldaj
-----------------
In the center of Mondstadt’s square stood a fellow clad in green, playing a lyre as he weaved a tragic tale of an adepti and a mortal. The fellow first introduced himself as Venti before starting the tale to curious onlookers that stopped to listen.
----------------
Many centuries ago, a young girl, in her twenties perhaps, clad in strange attire, arrived in Tevyat, injuries scattered across her body. She was somewhat near the Liyue Harbor of that time and the millileth found her, quickly bringing her to the doctor where she was treated. The injuries were severe as if she had been slammed with a heavy rock that flew out of nowhere. With some healing and herbs, the doctors managed to save her life.
After a couple of days, she awoke. The millileth arrived and they asked her many questions.“Where did you get those injuries? What were you doing out in the wild? Where did you come from?”
Every question they asked was either given vague responses or a simple “I don’t know”. It seems that she had lost her memory. The millileth was in a tight spot. They then asked her one last question, hope shining in their eyes, “What is your name?”
The girl looked down at her lap, searching through the hazy memories in her mind. One word stuck out to her, perhaps that was her name. After a few more seconds of pondering, she answered with, “Y/N.”
-----------------
After a couple of weeks, Y/N was released from the hospital. She was given a home to stay in and got a job as a waitress in one of Liyue Harbor’s most popular restaurants. She quickly fit in with the atmosphere of the city and got along with the city folk, a drastic change from when she first appeared in Liyue.
After some time, Y/N decided to take a couple of weeks off to travel around Liyue, although not all of it, just to places she had heard of from customers and colleagues. Her first stop was near Dihua Marsh. According to what Y/N was told, on an islet of the marsh stood a stone pillar with a large golden-leaved tree sitting on top of it. There were also rumors of a young man, called the Conqueror of Demons, that would be seen in the area. There was little to no details of the man other than that he seemed to hold an anemo vision and fought with a polearm.
Y/N was slightly curious about this man but thought little of him, being distracted with simply trying to get to the area unscathed first. The monsters that stood in her way were rather easy to trick and avoid. Some were slightly persistent but she managed to shake them off after a couple of minutes. Although she lacked her memories, she, strangely enough, seemed to remember some pointless, or in this case, useful survival tips.
After a couple of days, Y/N arrived at the islet as the sun began to set. She decided to look around to set up camp but was quickly interrupted by the growls and yells of hilichurls. Looking around, she quickly spotted them, getting into a position to run if needed. Y/N then paused, noticing something sinister coming from them.
“There’s something different about these hilichurls…” she murmured to herself, attempting to back away quietly and hide. Thankfully, they didn’t seem to notice her movement and she hid behind some bushes nearby. She noted that they seemed to be walking towards her and she quickly put a hand over her mouth and nose, muffling her breathing as she hoped they wouldn’t notice her.
Before they got too close though, something suddenly came out of the sky, slamming down into the ground with green-colored spears shooting out of the ground. The force of whatever had slammed into the ground nearly blew Y/N away but she thankfully only fell on her butt.
She quickly regained her balance and watched the scene unfold in front of her. As the dust cleared, she could see a young man with black and teal hair and green tattoos standing straight with a polearm in hand.
He was a somewhat distance from her with his back towards her but his head then turned around, making eye contact with Y/N. She flinched at his piercing gaze but he quickly turned away. Y/N was unable to think more of it as the young man started fighting the hilichurls. As she watched him fight, a sudden bad feeling started to stir up in her stomach. With the bad feeling in mind, she decided to back away a bit more as the fighting got more and more intense.
The young man handled the hilichurls quickly, treating them as if they were ragdolls. Y/N watched in awe and slight terror at his strength. In just a few minutes, the hilichurls laid on the ground, not moving at all, and the man stood over them with cold gazes. He then whipped around and walked towards Y/N.
Y/N flinched at the sudden attention and leaned back as the young man loomed over her. His glare pierced through her, making her sweat bullets, “I- uh...thank you…!” she squeaked out under his intense gaze.
He scoffed before speaking, “Night. When the darkness comes to envelop you, Don’t stay outside,” he turned around, preparing to leave.
“W-wait! What’s… What’s your name?” she stuttered out.
He looked at her, pausing before saying, “Adeptus Xiao,” and seemingly evaporated as he looked away.
Y/N sat on the ground, frozen, as she attempted to comprehend what just happened. After a couple of minutes, she snapped out of her daze and decided to heed Xiao’s words.
-----------------
Venti hummed a bit before speaking, “After that first meeting, the girl and the Adeptus would run into each other many more times. Each run-in brought the two closer and closer, far more than they would realize” he smiled mischievously.
-----------------
The first run-in with each other happened only a couple of months after they first met. Y/N hadn’t seen Xiao once since the incident and returned to Liyue Harbor with little trouble. She attempted to look up some more information on him but came up empty. The only thing she managed to find out was that he was a Yaksha, an adepti that protects Liyue from demons and mutants that appeared when gods fell during the Archon War. She figured that the hilichurls she saw Xiao defeat that day were likely mutants.
I’m glad I didn’t get involved with them at all… Y/N thought to herself as she set up some tables early in the morning.
“Ah, Y/N!”
Y/N turned around to see her boss, “Ah, Zhang Wei*. Do you need something?”
“Yes, is it fine if I trouble you to find some of these ingredients for me? I’ll give you a couple of weeks off to do so!” He handed her a small piece of paper with a list of ingredients with locations listed next to the names.
“Ah… Sure,” Y/N took the piece of paper from him.
“Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to pay you double for this!” Zhang Wei smiled.
Y/N nodded, her mind focused on the location next to Horsetail. Dihua Marsh. Y/N wondered if she would see Xiao again.
She decided her first stop would be Dihua marsh, hoping to see the young adepti once again. Y/N doubted she would see him again, but why not try?
Y/N looked at herself in the mirror of her small home, she wore simple clothes that would make traveling easier, and over her shoulder was a satchel to put the ingredients in. Double-checking that she had everything, Y/N put on her shoes and left her home.
Y/N finally arrived at Dihua Marsh, although she was on the ground and out of breath. She had already grabbed some horsetail just moments earlier but then a group of hilichurls came up. They were different from regular ones though and she noted that they were similar to the hilichurls she had seen when she first met Xiao. After a while, she finally managed to lose them by hiding in some large bushes.
She threw her head back, taking a large breath of air. “Damn those hilichurls, huff… Why must they all be so… persistent…!” she muttered.
“You’re lucky they didn’t find you out.”
“Yeah… Wait-!” Y/N jolted and whipped around, seeing the familiar cold stone face of Xiao standing behind her.
He closed his eyes and sighed, “It seems I’ve caused you trouble again. I apologize.”
“...Huh? How did you cause me trouble?”
“That is because the changes that occurred in those hilichurls came from me, or more precisely, from the karma I’ve accumulated.”
“Ah...but you just killed those monsters, right? So if anything, you did me a bit of a favor,” Y/N laughed quietly and smiled at him.
He scoffed, “Anyways, there will likely be more of these monsters, so you best watch out,” he then turned to leave.
Y/N jumped up, “Ah! Wait!”
“...What?”
“Can you, uh, act like a guard for me? I doubt I’ll be able to avoid those monsters like normal ones…” Y/N laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of her neck.
“Huh? Why should I?” Xiao asked coldly, crossing his arms.
“I have no way of protecting myself and like I said, I doubt I’d be able to avoid those monsters like normal ones…”
“Hmph… You’re quite bold to ask me that.”
Y/N clasped her hands together, “Please~! Just for a couple of days! That’s all!”
Xiao stayed silent for a few minutes before speaking, “...Fine.”
Her head shot up as she looked at him in hope. Before she could speak though, Xiao spoke again. “But don't think about getting close, and stay out of my way, or all that awaits you is regret,” he warned.
Y/N looked at him in surprise and slight confusion before nodding, “Oh, alright. Thank you so much though! Oh! By the way, I’m Y/N”
Xiao didn’t understand why he was agreeing to protect this feeble girl. There was nothing special about her, no vision, no special aura, nothing. So why is he even wasting his time with her? He sighed as he watched the girl gather more horsetails in the area. “Reduced to being a guard for a feeble girl, how pathetic,” he muttered under his breath, yet he kept his guard up and watched out for her.
After Y/N gathered enough horsetails, the duo made their way to Quince Village to gather jueyun chilis. Night soon arrived and Xiao decided for them to rest, gruffly claiming “You humans barely have any stamina.”
After a bit of searching, the two found themselves in front of some ruins by Wuwang Hill. As Y/N began setting up a camp, Xiao jumped up, landing on top of one of the ruined structures, “Go and rest. I'll be here,” and sat down.
Y/N tilted her head, “Aren’t you going to sleep as well?”
Xiao glared at her, “You think I sleep? You have no respect for the ways of the adepti!”
She flinched at his sudden outburst, “Ah, sorry…”
His hard glare softened into a cold gaze, “...Just go rest,” and turned away, looking out into the wilderness.
Y/N’s lips curled into a soft smile, He’s harsh… but I think he has a good heart she thought and quietly giggled, settling down into the makeshift bed she made and watched the night sky.
The two continued to journey for another week before separating. Y/N arrived back in Liyue Harbor with all the ingredients collected feeling a bit more giddy than usual. Her friends in the city all noticed, asking who the lucky fellow is. Y/N simply laughed, telling them that she made a new friend.
-----------------
The next meeting was when Y/N was exploring around Mt. Tianheng as the sun hung low in the sky. She had finished work and decided to walk around. On impulse, she decided to go off the road and was walking past a waterfall when she noticed something in the grass. Raising an eyebrow, she decided to walk closer, only to see the familiar hair and clothing of Xiao.
Y/N’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of blood and quickly looked over his unconscious body. She hurriedly opened her bag and searched through it, eventually finding a pouch of first aid items.
“I’m glad I had the foresight to pack first-aid items,” she sighed in relief and began to apply first aid. Y/N was surprised with how natural it felt to apply first aid as if she had done it countless times before. Perhaps she was some kind of doctor in the life she no longer remembered. Y/N quickly pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and focused on the injured man in front of her.
After some time, she had patched up all of the severe injuries and she looked over the rest of his body as Xiao awoke.
“Ah! You’re awake! Phew…”
“... What are you doing here…?” he asked groggily.
“I was taking a walk, and anyways, I should be asking you that!”
He attempted to sit up but flinched and Y/N quickly went to help, “Don’t touch me.”
“Huh? But you’re hurt and-”
Xiao quickly cut her off, “Prolonged interaction with adepti will become dangerous, as your souls are not as robust as ours are.”
Y/N glared at him, “We’ll worry about that later! Can you move a little at least?”
“Hmph, of course I can.”
“Then let’s get you out of the open, it looks like it’s about to rain soon.”
“... Fine.” Xiao finally allowed her to help him up and to lead him away from the open. They decided to take a rest in the cavern behind the waterfall, rain beginning to fall as they neared the cavern.
As Xiao settled down against the wall, Y/N noted that it was colder thanks to the mist flowers that grew nearby. Standing up, she took off her coat, passing it to Xiao. “Here, it’s cold.”
“My body is used to these temperatures. Your body is not.”
Y/N sighed, “And who exactly is the injured one out of us?… Just take it,” she dropped the coat on his lap before turning away to set up a fire. Xiao sighed, too exhausted to argue.
As the fire blazed alive, Y/N asked, “... What exactly happened to leave you passed out in the grass?”
“... It’s none of your concern,” Xiao answered coldly.
Y/N sighed, “...Alright.”
Xiao paused before speaking, “In the thousands of years that have passed, I have taken countless wraiths. If you want no trouble, stay away from me.”
Y/N looked at him in surprise, “... Like I’m gonna do that,” she stuck her tongue out at him and he scoffed in response. Y/N sighed, opting to not say anything more, and turned her attention back to the fire as she began to make something with what little ingredients she had.
After ten or so minutes, she decided to speak up, “... Is there anything troubling you, Xiao?”
“Trouble..? Hmph.. trouble means nothing to Adepti. There is no trouble that can last for a thousand years” Xiao glanced at her from the corner of his eye.
“Ah…”
“...Don’t worry needlessly about me, as I said, you should stay away from me instead of getting closer.”
“You’re still going on about that, huh? Well, guess what! I’m just as stubborn as you so I’m not gonna leave you alone!”
Xiao sighed, “... What a menace…” he muttered.
Y/N pouted in response as she handed him a plate of Almond Tofu, “Here, eat up.”
“...Isn’t this a dessert?”
“Haha, yeah it is… but the ingredients it needed are the only things I had on me that I could turn into a meal, and besides it’ll boost your strength!”
Xiao sighed, “Human meals are rarely ever good.”
“Just try it, Xiao, you need food to get back on your feet y’know!”
“I’m an Adeptus, my body does not follow the same rules that your bodies do,” he scoffed yet reluctantly put a spoonful in his mouth.
Y/N pouted in response and turned away, preparing a dish for herself.
Xiao swallowed down the spoonful before speaking, “... dreams.”
“Hm?”
“It tastes like the dreams I once devoured.”
Y/N paused before staring at him as if he had grown two heads, “... I, uh… Is that a good thing…?”
Xiao opted to not answer, instead, he ate another spoon of the almond tofu. Y/N sighed, deciding that it would be useless to try and pry further. The two ate in silence, listening to the rain pitter-patter outside of the cavern.
Y/N cleaned up the area a bit before leaning against the wall, putting a distance between her and him, and relaxed. Her head turned to the cavern’s entrance, making note of the heavier rain, “It looks like the rain won’t let up anytime soon…” and closed her eyes, falling asleep.
After a couple of minutes, Y/N’s breathing had become slow and steady. Xiao wondered if this was because of the prolonged contact between him and her.
Once confirming she was asleep, Xiao stood up and walked towards her. He wrapped the coat she had given him around her, whispering a quiet “thank you”. He raised his hand, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear before standing up. His eyes remained on her as he made a conscious decision to avoid her as much as he could. The more contact she had with him, the more danger she would be in. Gazing at her for a few more seconds, he turned around and disappeared.
Y/N awoke late at night, quickly noting that there was a warm weight on her. As the grogginess wore off, she noticed that the weight was the coat she had given Xiao. Speaking of Xiao, he was no longer where she last saw he was.
“Ah… he must’ve left already… He better not have reopened his wounds.”
-----------------
The next meeting was several months after that incident. Even after traveling to Dihua Islet several times, Y/N did not see Xiao once, even if she had brought almond tofu with her. Y/N wasn’t completely sure if he did actually like her almond tofu but she was going to take any chances to get to see him. Thinking back to their time in the cavern, Y/N wondered if he was trying to distance himself because of the energy situation. She could understand the reason but still couldn’t help but miss the yaksha.
Y/N stared at her cup of tea, lost in thought wondering where Xiao was, as she hung out with three of her friends. They were talking about some kind of gossip when one of them noticed her silence and smiled mischievously, “Y/N~?”
Y/N quickly snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her friend with a hum, “Yes?”
“Just what are you thinking so deeply about? Ever since you went on that journey of yours, you’ve been staring out into space way more than usual~” she teased.
Y/N flinched at her observation and laughed, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about…”
Her friend pouted, “Oh don’t be like that Y/N~! Tell me! Please?” By now, the other two had noticed and began joining in.
Y/N simply laughed with a shake of her head, “No way!”
“A shame…” her friend hung her head and so did the others as they sighed dramatically, albeit did nothing in changing Y/N’s mind. It’s not likely that they would believe in her tale of becoming (sort of) friends with an adepti, a yaksha that vanquishes demons at that. Anyways.
“At least tell us if you’re thinking about a guy !” one of her friends leaned on her as she laughed, deciding to cave in a bit.
“Alright, alright,” at that, her friends perked up immediately, all eyes on her as she looked away, slightly blushing, “... it is a guy.”
They all gasped dramatically, “Oh my! What’s he like?!” they all asked excitedly.
Y/N decided that it wouldn’t hurt to tell them a small bit, “Hm… he’s a jerk that’s cold and rough,” she giggled at her description of him, “…but he’s still a caring person underneath it all.”
Her friends shared a knowing look with mischievous smiles, “It sounds like you got a crush, Y/N~” one of them teased.
Y/N laughed, “Even if I do, it’s not like I’d tell the three of you.”
“A pity.”
“So when are we gonna meet him?”
Y/N smiled at them, “never,” and sipped her tea.
“Oh come on~ Whyy?” they whined. Y/N only laughed, not answering any more of their questions about Xiao. After a couple of minutes, they gave up on trying to pry answers out of her and moved onto other topics.
Y/N walked home, humming to herself, planning her next trip to Dihua Islet, “Hm...I wonder if I should bring something else other than almond tofu…”
“Stick with the almond tofu. Other mortal foods are things I can’t stomach.”
“Huh, is that so- wait-” Y/N whipped around to see the familiar face of Xiao leaning against a pillar with his arms crossed, wearing his signature frown. She quickly gasped, “Xiao! I was so worried about you! But wait, what are you doing here in the harbor?!” Y/N remembered the journey he had accompanied her on, how he had mentioned hating crowded and loud places. Although the area they were in at the moment was deserted and quiet, the noise of the marketplace could still be heard.
“The constant offerings of Almond Tofu and notes were beginning to get annoying,” he remarked bluntly, making Y/N flinch.
“A-ah, sorry,” Y/N laughed as she scratched the back of her neck.
He glanced at her and sighed, before tossing an item to her. Y/N quickly caught it with both hands, looking at her hands in surprise. “...What’s this?” she asked as she took a look at the item, seeing that it was a butterfly made of leaves.
“... It’s an adepti amulet I made. It staves off evil.”
Y/N eyes sparkled in awe as she looked at the beautiful details of the amulet, “Thank you… but why?”
“You mentioned your day of birth was near this time,” Xiao bit his lip, deciding not to mention that he thought the celebration of someone’s birthday was something he considered redundant. Why he kept his thoughts to himself would be a mystery to himself, but perhaps it had something to do with her happy expression.
Y/N glanced at him in surprise, “Oh wow! You remember that?!”
“Hmph, I was simply reminded of it from that last note of yours.”
“Geh-!” Y/N flinched as the memory of writing her last note to him flashed by, “... I forgot I wrote that…” she looked away with an awkward grin.
“Hmph, I will take my leave now.”
“Ah! Wait!”
“...What?”
Y/N looked at him from head to toe, “How are your injuries?”
Xiao sighed, “They’ve healed already, you need not worry.”
Y/N pouted at him, “How am I not going to worry? You disappeared for countless months without letting me see you once!”
“Did you forget what I had said? Mortal souls are-”
“Are not as robust as yours are,” Y/N finished with a sigh, “Even so, can’t we just meet up regularly? Like every couple months or so!”
Xiao stared at her pleading expression and sighed, “It is not wise to do so.”
Y/N sighed, “Ok then… let’s exchange letters!”
“...Letters?”
“Yeah! We can talk regularly without any physical interaction!”
Xiao sighed and attempted to answer, but was quickly cut off with a pang in his head. He grimaced as he flinched and held up a hand to his temple.
Y/N drew closer at his pained expression, “Are you ok?” she asked, panicking.
“Their voices... I can always hear them. Their screams, their cries, demanding more death... This is my burden to carry. It has nothing to do with you.”
“...But I’d like to at least help,” she smiled sadly at him.
“And just how do you plan to do that?”
“Umm…” Y/N then raised her hands to his face, stopping as he flinched away, “ah, sorry, uh, can I?”
“... Fine,” Xiao muttered, a faint tint of red on his cheeks, and leaned forward, flinching slightly at the feeling of Y/N’s hand on his face. “... Just how is this helping?” his body rigid in her hold.
Y/N pouted, “I’m trying my best! And anyway, just try to relax,” she murmured, avoiding his piercing gaze as her thumbs began rubbing circles on his cheeks.
Xiao sighed, pulling away, “This isn’t really helping me.”
Y/N pulled her hands away with a sigh, “that’s a shame…” she muttered. She then brightened as she thought of something, “Oh! Maybe we can make some kind of potion or medicine that’ll help!”
“...I understand your intentions, but mortal medicine has no effect on Adepti.”
“Wait, seriously?!” Y/N slumped over with a groan, “I’m sorry…”
“As I said, this has nothing to do with you, you do not need to spend your time helping me.”
Y/N looked down, “... Even though it has nothing to do with me… it still hurts to see you in pain as well.”
“...You better not be pitying me.”
“Of course not! I’m being empathetic!” “Huh? Isn’t that the same thing?”
“No! Of course not! Pity and empathy are two different things!” Y/N then went on a rant about the differences as Xiao sighed. Yet he didn’t feel annoyed, instead, there was a warm fuzzy feeling that replaced it. If he hadn’t noticed it, he would’ve let a small smile slip as well.
-----------------
Like Y/N had proposed, the two began exchanging letters. Her letters were usually long-winded and filled with emotions while Xiao’s were short and blunt, reflecting his personality, which amused Y/N. They only exchanged a few letters due to Y/N being unable to go out of Liyue Harbor often, but within those few letters, they found their attraction to each other growing.
Y/N stared out the window in a daze. In front of her was some paperwork from the restaurant, albeit she paid no mind to them. Instead, she found herself thinking about Xiao. She was quickly snapped out of her thoughts as she noticed a light in the sky. It was far in the distance but Y/N quickly realized that it was a lantern.
“Right, it’s almost time for the lantern rite… I wonder if I can convince Xiao to come by…” With a sigh, Y/N returned to the papers in front of her, making a note to ask him later.
Sometime later, Y/N finally finished the letter. Written in it was the general stuff she normally wrote with updates on her life and some interesting trivia she learned recently. At the end of the letter, she made sure to mention the lantern rite. “By the way Xiao, did you know the lantern rite’s coming up? You should come by to watch the mingxiao lantern! I heard it’s super amazing!”
With a smile, Y/N closed the letter and prepared to leave the harbor. As she was preparing, a sudden and small thought popped up in her mind. I wonder what Xiao looks like smiling…. Y/N blushed as soon as the thought registered in her mind and shook her head.
Quickly she set out for the designated area that they left their replies. Dihua Islet. Xiao often wandered in that area which made it an area that they would both find the replies easily. Silently, Y/N hoped that she would also get to see him once she arrived there.
Surprisingly, her small wish would come true. As she arrived at Dihua Islet, Y/N’s eyes were quickly caught by the familiar figure of Xiao sitting on one of the boulders on the islet. A smile appeared on her features as she quickly called out his name, “Xiao!”
Xiao turned at the familiar call of his name, greeted with the sight of Y/N rushing towards him with the oh-so-familiar smile that made his stomach turn in knots. He nodded as a greeting and he jumped off the boulder, meeting her halfway.
Her grin grew in size at the acknowledgment, even though butterflies began to flutter in her stomach. She quickly rummaged through her bag and took out the letter, handing it to him. “By the way… The lantern rite is coming up,” she informed him.
“The lantern rite? The time for humans to discard their glowing trash into the sea has returned, how childish…”
Her smile quickly dropped, “... You really think that?”
“I do… the hatred and residual energy of the dead gods from some centuries ago sometimes erupt, and they often erupt in a large scale during this troublesome festival.”
“...And so you’re the one that’s fighting every time, right?”
“Yes.” “... It doesn’t happen every lantern rite though, right?”
Xiao glanced at her and sighed, “...No.”
“Then could you at least stop by to watch the mingxiao lantern? It’ll be worth your time! I promise!”
Xiao watched her as she stared at him with desperate eyes. He did not wish to admit it, but he knew deep inside that he couldn’t say no, and eventually gave in, “...If you insist, I will go with you.”
Y/N’s expression quickly lit up with a smile and she cheered, “Yay! I know a great place outside of the harbor that we can meet at to watch it!”
Xiao watched as she grabbed a map of Liyue out of her bag and began pointing at areas where they could watch it. Although he didn’t say it out loud, he was grateful that she was picking areas where there wouldn’t be many people. Nor would he say that he was growing nervous at how close she was, or how he was looking at every detail of her delicate face, or...
After a couple of minutes, they made arrangements to meet and watch the mingxiao lantern. As she walked away after (reluctantly) saying their goodbyes, Y/N internally celebrated with glee, a light pink blush tinting her cheeks.
The day finally came, the night of the Lantern Rite and when the large mingxiao lantern would be released into the sky. Y/N spent the first half of the day serving customers at the restaurant before returning home to prepare for her meeting with Xiao. She had everything in her bag but was quickly distracted when she noticed a food stall. Although Xiao couldn’t stand most human foods, this particular food stall was selling Almond Tofu. With a smile, she quickly bought some almond tofu as well as food for herself before setting off to find Xiao.
As Y/N arrived at the meeting place, she quickly spotted the lonesome figure of Xiao, standing at the ledge. She quickly called out his name and jogged up to where he was, handing him the almond tofu.
“... why did you get me this?” He asked, although took the plate.
Y/N smiled, “Because the lantern rite isn’t just about the lanterns! Plus I was hungry…” she quietly admitted the last part with a pout. Xiao released a huff of air and the two ate in silence, waiting for the time that the mingxiao lantern would be released.
After some time, Y/N figured that it must be getting close so she gave him a piece of plaustrite and a carving tool as she took out two xiao lanterns.
“What are these for?” Xiao asked, motioning to the plaustrite and carving tool.
“We carve our wishes on these, then we stick it into the lanterns and let them float away!” she explained to him.
Xiao took the plaustrite and carving tool with a huff, “How exactly will these grant our wishes?”
“Hm… I’m not sure,” Xiao looked incredulously at her as she laughed. He sighed and glanced at the plaustrite sitting in his hand.
Y/N calmed down before she thought about what to wish for. A wish then popped up in her mind after a few seconds, “I wish to spend more time with Xiao”. She blushed at the wish, but deep inside, she knew it was the one thing she wanted more than anything. Steeling her resolve, she quickly carved the wish into the plaustrite with a faint blush on her cheeks.
Xiao finished carving and glanced at Y/N before quickly looking back down at his own piece of plaustrite. He didn’t write a wish for himself since he didn’t have any wishes or desires. So, he decided to go with a statement, a promise. “If she finds herself clinging onto the past, reluctant to move on, I shall quietly remember the memories in my heart for her”.
The two placed the plaustrites into their own respective lanterns before letting them fly into the air. They stood close to each other, their hands brushing against each other, as they watched their lanterns fly mingle in the air with the many other lanterns.
After a couple of minutes, Y/N glanced at Xiao from the corner of her eye, spotting a small smile of awe appearing on his face. Her eyes widened at the sight of the rare smile and blushed before quickly looking away and into the sky. Tightening her jaw, she made the risky move of interlocking her pinkie finger with his. Y/N expected him to pull his hand away, and he did, yet he quickly returned his hand to interlock his slim fingers with hers. Y/N’s eyes widened again, a deep blush spreading across the rest of her face, as she looked down and squeezed his hand. Unbeknownst to her, painted on Xiao’s face was also a deep red blush.
----------------- [Edit: this is a part that got deleted accidently but it’s back lol]
Xiao found himself puzzled. Recently, a strange mortal had been hanging around him, wanting to get closer to him. Even stranger was that he felt the same way, wanting to get closer to them. The feeling and fluttering in his chest and stomach were foreign and even a tinge disgusting. Yet he seemed to crave more, more of their smile and expressions, more of the peace that surrounds them. He knew better though. Yet he found himself persisting against the knowledge of the mortal soul.
Xiao found himself falling deeper into the rabbit hole. Perhaps he could find momentary peace with the mortal.
Y/N was traveling to Dihua islet, wanting to check if Xiao had left a reply to her previous letter, as well as a chance to actually see him in person. If he didn’t, then she had a letter to put in its place. On her journey, she encountered a traveler, who had told her that there was a group of treasure hoarders camping by the main road. She was told to either go back and or to take a detour. Y/N was confident in her skills though and decided to continue traveling through the main road.
What a bad decision that was.
As Y/N passed some ruins, a small blade flew past her face, barely grazing her nose. She gasped, slapping a hand over her nose as she stepped back. Quickly checking her hand, she sighed in relief at the lack of blood before looking up.
Stepping out of some bushes was a small group of men dressed in the clothing of the treasure hoarders. Y/N eyes widened, cautiously taking a step back.
One of them snickered, “Scared little girl? No need to be. We only want one thing.”
Another threw their shovel over their shoulders, “Right, just give us your stuff and we’ll leave you alone.”
Y/N glared at them, pushing her bag to rest on her back instead of the side, “Like I’m giving you all the stuff I worked my butt for.”
“Hmph, you’ve got a pretty face but a pretty bad sense of danger. Fine, we’ll just take it from you with force.”
Y/N tensed, preparing to run as the treasure hoarders came after her. Quickly turning around, she attempted to make a run for it. Before she could even lift her leg, an arrow pierced her calf, with a scream. Blood splattered onto the ground and she collapsed, “Ack-!”
Pain seared through her from her leg up and sat up with a groan. Shadows loomed over her and Y/N whipped around, seeing the Treasure hoarders smirking above her.
The one with the crossbow grabbed her by the wrist, “If you don’t want to get even more hurt then hand over your stuff.”
Gritting her jaw, Y/N twisted her hand around to grab the man’s wrist, twisting it to release her. He yelped in surprise before being pulled to the ground. Y/N stood up while she could in the shock of the moment and attempted to run. The arrow stuck in her calf made it difficult to run but the adrenaline rushing through her numbed the pain.
Before she could even get far, a barrage of arrows flew towards her, multiple hitting her and throwing her to the ground. With a screech of pain, she collapsed, arrows sticking out from many limbs of her body.
As she laid on the ground, her mind wandered to Xiao’s smiling face. It was merely a glimpse into his softer side, but she remembered that that mere glimpse was enough to make her fall even deeper into the abyss of love. As her consciousness began fading in and out, she whispered his name, “Xiao…”
The treasure hoarders that stood over her were suddenly thrown to the ground, skidding away from the force that had crashed into them. Y/N squinted up, spotting the familiar black and teal hair of the young yaksha. “I’m here,” he announced, glancing at her.
“Mhm…” She smiled as tears clouded her eyes.
To the yaksha, seeing the state Y/N was in as she laid on the ground brought the deepest depths of his fury to the surface. He turned his gaze to the treasure hoarders, tightening his grip on his polearm before bringing swift justice to them, albeit not killing them. The treasure hoarders laid on the ground, groaning and moaning in pain.
“Worthless,” Xiao muttered coldly, allowing his polearm to disappear. Xiao turned around and walked towards the injured Y/N. He knelt beside her, picking her up gently, a stark contrast to his hard glare, and avoiding the arrows that stuck out of her.
Feeling the warmth of Xiao, Y/N smiled, snuggling into him as she tried to ignore the pain of her wounds. “Thank you...Xiao,” she whispered.
Xiao didn’t reply but he tightened his grip on her. He then spoke, “If you awake to a knife at your throat, if monsters dig their claws into you, if death comes knocking at your door, call out my name. Adeptus Xiao. I will be here when you call.”
Y/N pulled away slightly and met his strong gaze. As his words registered in her mind, she could feel her eyes start to water again, and whispered his name, resting her head on his chest “...Xiao.”
Xiao’s strong gaze softened at the whisper, “I’m here.”
The tears clouding Y/N’s vision began to fall as she whispered his name many more times, fisting his clothes and burying her face into his chest. Xiao tightened his hold on her comfortingly, replying every time she whispered his name.
Some time passed and Xiao had taken Y/N somewhere safer. Dihua Islet. Where he treated her injuries. Due to the amount of blood and tatters on her, Xiao had thought she was more severely injured, but thankfully, none were severe.
Y/N sat on the ground, trying to stay still as Xiao treated the injuries on her arm. She stayed quiet before her eyes wandered to Xiao’s stern expression. Her eyes then fell to his lips, finding herself wondering what it felt like to kiss them. Her eyes widened as she realized what her thoughts were and quickly shook her head, a raging blush on her cheeks.
Xiao glanced up, an eyebrow raised at her sudden outburst. He dropped back down to her arm before speaking, “...It's too late now, you know. The connection between us is too strong. Even if you wanted to, it's too late to sever it.”
Y/N shook out of her flustered state, glancing at him, “Huh? Why would I do that?”
Xiao raised his head in surprise, “... You've never thought to sever it?” he paused and sighed, “This eternal dance of demon subjugation... My fight goes on… But… I would like to know more about you.”
Y/N stared at him in surprise, before her features softened into a small smile, “I want to know more about you too, Xiao…”
The two fell further into the rabbit hole. Deciding to risk everything for the peace they found in each other.
-----------------
Time passed and Y/N’s memory came back in small pieces, but they were enough for her to know a general amount of her past. She came from far away, perhaps a different world, that was far more advanced than the places here in Tevyat. The clothes she first arrived here in as well were similar to what the people wore in her memories as well.
After remembering more and more of her past, she decided to look into the other 7 nations of the continent, hoping to find her home. She brought home some books on the other nations to her house. After only a couple of hours, Y/N figured out that her home didn’t belong to any of the 7 nations. Many were far from advanced than the places she remembers in her memories.
“I guess I am really in another world…” she spoke to herself quietly. Y/N wasn’t sure what to make of this. Perhaps she had a happy life in her original world, happily living with people that she no longer knew. But now this world had also become a home to her. At the thought of home, her mind flashed to Xiao.
Her cheeks heated up and she rested her head in her arms, warm feelings bubbling up within her. Xiao had only held her for less than an hour when she had been attacked, yet the warmth and gentleness of his hold were addicting. Y/N missed it. She glanced out the window, finding that the night was rather lonely.
After the incident with the treasure hoarders, Xiao decided that he would come to her instead of Y/N coming to him at Dihua Marsh. Y/N first protested, bringing up his distaste of crowded areas, but the yaksha was stubborn. Eventually, she relented, but she came to enjoy the monthly visits of the Yaksha.
She perked at the knocking sound of the door to the balcony. With a smile, Y/N stood up and walked to the door, seeing the familiar Yaksha leaning against the railings of the balcony. Opening the door, she grinned, “Hey, Xiao.”
Xiao simply nodded but didn’t come inside. Y/N crossed her arms behind her, contemplating a slightly bold question. He noticed her contemplating gaze, throwing a gruff “What is it?” at her.
Y/N tilted her head, “... Can I hug you, Xiao?”
Xiao jumped at the question, his eyes wide and a blush beginning to adorn his cheeks, “Just what are you asking? Do you have no respect for the adepti?”
Y/N giggled quietly, “It’s a yes or no question, Xiao.” Xiao grumbled, not replying. Y/N giggled again, holding her arms open, “Well?”
Xiao sighed, holding his arms slightly open as well, unable to find it within himself to refuse her. Y/N giggled, walking towards him and wrapping her arms around his slim waist. Xiao tensed at the touch but slowly relaxed in her warm embrace. Within a couple of minutes, he wrapped his arms around her as well and rested his head in the crook of Y/N’s neck. Y/N glanced at him in surprise at how quickly he relaxed in her embrace but smiled. Her arms tightened around him, smiling at the familiar warmth of his embrace.
The unspoken words of “I love you” were stuck in both of their throats, yet pushed it down so as to not break the peaceful atmosphere of the hug. Xiao found that all of the yelling and screaming of the voices within his head would quiet down while Y/N found warmth and comfort on a lonely night. Neither wished to let go so they didn’t, enjoying the peace in each others’ presence.
It was unfortunate that the peace they found in each other would disappear as fast as they had first discovered it.
-----------------
Y/N was feeling great and energetic, but that mood quickly went sour as she collapsed. Kneeling on the floor, a series of loud coughs shook her body. As her hand drew away from her mouth, Y/N's eyes widened in shock at the sight of red liquid, dribbling down her palm. She was unable to think further about it as her arms gave out, falling on her side with the cold tile.
People around her panicked, yelling for healers, doctors, anyone that could help her. Their yells were quickly drowned out though, as Y/N succumbed to sleep.
The week that passed was nothing but a blur to her. Only remembering different people doing different things to her. They tried speaking to her, asking her about how she felt. Y/N could only mutter incomprehensible words in reply.
As the middle of the second week arrived, the healers and doctors deemed that she was beyond saving. Her friends came to see her, although Y/N could barely pay attention to them as her vision blurred.
Before the healers and doctors retreated back to their offices riddled with guilt, they provided Y/N with painkillers, hoping that it would save her from further pain. As they closed the doors, they could hear the pitiful girl mutter out one word,
"...Xiao..."
The door closed with a loud echo and Y/N succumbed to sleep once more.
Y/N awoke to a hesitant and rough, yet gentle, touch to her forehead. She could recognize that touch from anywhere after countless hugs despite the warnings. She leaned into his touch. The touch of the one she found herself growing to love. Y/N opened her eyes slowly, meeting the familiar golden eyes of Xiao. She smiled weakly, softly whispering his name.
He lifted his hand, a bitter and heartbroken expression crossing his face. He bit his lower lip before he found himself revealing all of his guilt to the frail one under him.
"Why...why must a foolish mortal like you continue to be around me…? You are only like this because your soul cannot handle being around adepti like me…I told you that, yet you continue to be near me, and now, here you are, dying."
He drew his hand away, the radiating warmth of his fading away. Y/N weakly reached for his hand, grasping it weakly. "...I stayed, beside you because, because I… I love you, Xiao," they whispered.
Xiao's jaw tensed, "Don't be foolish, us adepti would never be able to understand you mortals' emotions."
Instead of pouting like they normally would, Y/N simply laughed weakly, "You're right… but that doesn't... stop me from loving you, Xiao…"
Xiao growled quietly, and sharply took back his hand from the weak grip of Y/N, turning around to the window to leave. Barely getting more than five steps away, he heard a large collision to the floor. Whipping around in alarm, he saw Y/N attempting to sit up.
Without realizing it, Xiao took a few large strides, kneeling down next to them and helping them up. Although as soon as his hand had come into their sight, they quickly grasped his hand. Slowly lifting their head up, Xiao was taken aback to see tears falling down their cheeks. Before he could scold them, Y/N weakly began to speak.
"It's… it's fine, if you...if you don't like me back… but please, please don't leave me alone," They rested their head against Xiao's chest, clinging to his shirt now, "Please, please don't let me die all alone again…"
Xiao was tempted to take their hands off of his shirt but was taken aback at their last sentence. Although confused, he gave in after a few minutes of silence, awkwardly resting his hands on top of their head and back as Y/N cried into his chest. He didn't understand what they meant, but it didn't matter. Because he's known for a long time by now that he could never say no to Y/N.
“...You’re a foolish mortal, Y/N,” he gruffly whispered as Y/N calmed down. They froze at the whisper of their name coming from his lips, realizing it was the first time Xiao has ever said their name. Finally processing what he had said, Y/N smiled weakly.
“I guess I am.”
Xiao shifted and maneuvered their body so that he was holding them in his arms. He stood up slowly, and placed them back into their bed, tucking them in. Y/N allowed themself to soak in the gentleness and comfort of Xiao’s touch.
They turned to their side, resting their right hand on top of Xiao’s hand. He flinched at their touch but made no move to remove his hand from theirs. Her eyes shifted from their hands to his golden eyes as he stared outside the window. Xiao’s golden eyes were always beautiful, but the beauty couldn’t hide the spark of sadness and guilt in his eyes. Y/N wanted to wish those emotions in his eyes away, wishing that she could’ve made her wish about wanting him to always be happy instead of wanting more time with him.
Y/N snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of Xiao’s voice, “...You should rest,” his eyes shifting to her own.
“...But-”
“Sleep. I will be here when you awake,”
Both of them knew Xiao was lying, a lie to bring her comfort in her final moments.
Y/N wanted to stay awake, to continue being with Xiao for as long as she could. As she struggled to stay awake, Xiao shifted his hand and interlaced his fingers with hers.
“There’s nothing to fear, I will keep you safe while you sleep.”
Y/N wanted to argue, wanted to tell him that she’s not sleepy, but is unable to even speak as Xiao uses his free hand to close her eyes. “Geh-”
“Don’t fight and waste your energy, Y/N.”
Y/N used the last of her strength to force a pout but smiled at his awkward attempt of showing that he cared for her. Before allowing herself to slip into the depths of sleep, she whispered.
“I...I love you, Xiao.”
Xiao stayed quiet as the hand intertwined with his hand started to grow limp before falling out of his grasp completely. Tears were welling up in his eyes, but he refused to let them fall. The breathing and movement of her chest came to an eventual stop and he held back a hiccup.
Xiao leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to the fading warm lips of the girl below him. He pulled away after a few seconds, whispering the three words she never got to hear. “I love you too… Y/N”
By the time the moon rose to its peak, the adepti was gone from the scene. The only evidence of his presence was the wet patches on the sheets and the qingxin flower that rested on the girl’s chest.
Xiao stood at the base of Dihua Marsh, watching the moon rise with a sad expression, before placing his mask on and disappearing from view.
-----------------
Venti finished his story with a beautiful but sad song note and the crowd before him had tears welling up in their eyes. Despite the sad note, they applauded him and tipped him with mora. As the crowd dispersed, a couple of children came up to him. “Venti! Venti! Why didn’t they get a happy ending?” they whined.
Venti smiled sadly, “Although those two didn’t have a happy ending, it doesn’t mean that the story ends there.”
“Does that mean the adepti will find someone else to love?”
Venti laughed, “I’m sure he will.”
Meanwhile, in Liyue, a floating pixie sneezed as she talked with her companion.
“Paimon, are you sick?” her companion asked.
“Paimon never gets sick!” the pixie rebuked, resting her fists on her hips.
The companion simply laughed in response and Paimon pouted. The two were in Dihua Marsh near the Wangshu Inn as they spoke. Paimon quickly brought the both of them back to the previous topic, “Anyways, isn’t that Xiao over there?” and pointed in a direction.
The traveler looked in the direction Paimon was pointing at, seeing the familiar yaksha, sitting before a formation that looked similar to that of a grave.
“What is he standing in front of?” the traveler murmured as they observed the yaksha.
“How about we check it out?” Paimon suggested and the traveler nodded.
They approached the adepti but the traveler froze in their tracks as they noticed a slightly transparent figure next to Xiao. The figure was in the shape of a young woman, softly smiling down at the adepti.
Paimon also saw the figure, quickly freaking out, “Gah-! Is… is that a… a ghost?!”
The shrieks of fear from Paimon quickly alert the figure and Xiao. As Xiao turns around, the figure disappears, and Xiao sighs at the sight of the pair.
“You two. What are you doing here?”
“A-ah… we just saw you, so uh…” Paimon tried speaking but was still frozen in place after the sight of the figure.
The traveler sighed, before continuing for her, “And we wanted to see how you were doing.”
Xiao sighed and crossed his arms, “You need not be concerned about that. But why were you shrieking?” The traveler and Paimon exchanged glances before replying, “Uh… well Paimon saw what looked like a… a ghost, next to you!”
“A ghost…?” Xiao echos, pondering over it, “...I see.”
“...Do you know that ghost, Xiao?” the traveler asked.
“...It’s not of any importance,” he replied and turned around, “I must get going now.”
Before the traveler or Paimon could ask, the yaksha disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
“Sheesh!” Paimon crossed her arms, “why is he so rude sometimes?!”
The traveler smiled at Paimon’s whining before turning to look at the makeshift construct before them. Paimon follows their gaze, “Oh! We should check that thing out! We might get some clues!”
“...I feel like we’re intruding on his privacy by doing this,” the traveler mumbled as they followed Paimon. They stopped in front of the formation, noticing very little of any unique details. As they observed it, the traveler froze, sensing a presence behind them. Sharply turning around, they saw the figure of the young woman once again.
“Huh? Is something wr-” Paimon quickly cuts herself off with a shriek as she turns around, seeing the ghostly figure as well. She quickly floated over to the traveler, hiding behind them, quivering in fear.
Taking out their sword, the traveler got into a fighting stance but was interrupted as the figure’s mouth moved. Although unable to hear it immediately, the words it spoke floated upon the wind, reaching the ears of the traveler with a tickle.
“...Take care of Xiao, please…” it whispered with a sad smile.
The traveler stares in confusion but is unable to speak further as the figure fades away.
