y'know I really wish people would start tagging negativity with the proper tags in the djats side of tumblr. people are complaining about how the show did this and that but they never add tags to be blocked or filtered. I've seen 5 different posts about negativity about a ship (mostly in regards to the show adaptation but some about the book) thats tagged just with the ship tag and without any sort of anti- something.
Y'know what, I watched the show and I bought the book, but the way people are going about criticizing the show without the proper tags is making me VERY annoyed. I dont really feel like picking up the book now, if it means I'm gonna end up like that :/

YOU'RE MINE, CARA MIA 🕸️📌
(Jealous!Wednesday x Fem!reader)
> You are her love, no one else makes her feel the way you do. You have made the young Addams fall hard for you.
Tumblr media
🕸️ It seems like Xavier has been flirting with you, And you were maybe a little to oblivious to see it since Xavier has always been this nice to everyone, or at least that's what you think.
📍What Wednesday saw was red. Red. She did not like the way he interacted with you. It makes her wanna commit unspeakable offenses to him.
—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—–·—
You we're quietly reading a book [that Wednesday happened to gift you] while waiting for your love to arrive.
While you were reading you felt a presence behind you. As you were about to turn around to see who it was, they put an arm over your shoulder and leaned closer to you.
They did it so quick that you couldn't even register any of their actions. You would be lying if you said that the sudden action didn't startle you.
"Y/N, hey!" Oh, it was just Xavier. "Oh, hey. You startled me a little" you awkwardly laughed, closing the book you were reading.
"aw, shit sorry" Xavier gave you an apologetic smile. "Hey, it's fine. Don't sweat it" you laughed it off as to not make him feel too bad.
"So, whatcha doin' in here, all alone?" He asked sitting beside you. He was a little too close so you moved a little to the side to make some room, you didn't really like the fact that he was so close.
Oh boy was that a bad idea. You hadn't realized that you moved a little too much, causing you to slip. You were expecting a nasty crash but to your surprise, you didn't fall at all.
You opened your eyes to see Xavier holding your arm so you wouldn't fall. "Gotcha" Xavier said giving a playful wink and pulling you back up.
"Oh haha, thanks! You really saved me there." You say giving him a smile. "No problem" he says giving you somewhat of a flirtatious smile.
"Oh uhm back to your question, I'm actually waiting for Wednesday" You spoke. Xavier was too enticed by your soothing voice that it took him some time to register what you just said.
"Xavier? Hellooo, Xavier? You good?" You questioned him, waving a hand in front of his face.
Xavier soon broke out of his trance. "Oh- uh, really?" He stuttered out. His face as red as a red spider Lily.
"You seem tense, you okay?" You asked genuinely concerned. Xavier has been suspected to be the Hyde even with no evidence, you thought that maybe he's been getting distracted because of all the allegations.
"Yes- no- uh, I'm not feeling too well-..." He replied, scratching the back of his neck. He stayed quiet for a bit as he was thinking of what to say next.
"Do you want to...I don't know uhm, come with me to the nurses office? I wanna make sure I don't have the flu or something" he chuckled, he was very much hoping for you to say yes.
"Oh! Well-" just before you could finish your sentence, Somebody cut you off. "No. She will not accompany you. You're old enough to go by yourself, Xavier."
Wednesday. Wednesday was the one who cut you off. You were glad that she finally arrived – and for saving you so that you wouldn't have to come with Xavier.
To be completely honest, you didn't want to come with him. It's not that you hate him, no. You just felt like something was gonna happen if you did happen to come with him.
"Wednesday?" "Xavier." The burning fire in Wednesdays eyes. She looked like a venomous snake about to attack it's enemy. They both looked at each other with such intense gazes that you felt the need to stop them before things get...dirty.
"Hello Wen!" You say with a closed eye smile in attempt to subside the tension. "Hello, N/N." She moved her gaze from Xavier and back to you. Her Intense gaze softened, your plan worked.
"Is this idiot bothering you? - yes? Well, don't worry, he won't be around to bother you any longer." She says, she looked like she was planning something.
Knowing Wednesday, she was probably thinking of a plan to somehow harm Xavier. "No! no! Uhm we were just talking, that's all!" You smiled, trying to convince her that he didn't bother you. Otherwise, It would be bye bye Xavier.
"Yeah! and I was just trying to-" Wednesday, once again cut him off. "Shut your mouth. I didn't ask you." She says glaring at him "Plus, I see the way you look at sweet N/N."
'Sweet?' wow, a lot of things were going on in your head. Did she really just call you sweet? It was such a surprise, considering the fact that she doesn't even like calling you lovey dovey names, she usually calls you by your name or by your Nickname.
"I saw everything. From when you startled her to when you asked her to accompany you to the clinic. I know your intensions, Xavier."
Wednesdays already cold gaze became even colder as she stared at him. Xavier felt a shiver run down his spine. "You wanted to confess to her, didn't you?" She says folding her arms in front of her chest.
"well- uh- fuck! Forget it! You ruined my plans!" Xavier says stomping off angrily. Wednesday soon glanced at you, oh shit. This is the day I die. You thought.
You started to pray Inside your head. "Calm down. I'm not gonna kill you, let alone hurt you." She says letting her arms fall to her side.
"thanks? By the way, me and Xavie-" Wednesday shushed you and told you that she saw everything. Oh, and to not say that idiots name.
Wednesday tugged- no, pulled you closer to her. You've never been so close to her before. You enclosed the remaining gap by pulling her in for a hug. It was quite tense at first but, both of you melted into it quickly.
Just as both of you were enjoying the silence, she whispered something in your ear that made your face burn up in heat.
"You're mine, cara mia."
a/n:
Okay, everything was so tense but I somehow managed to push through (´ . .̫ . `)
I wrote this at like 12 a.m so my grammar is just kinda everywhere. Like I don't even know what I'm saying (。•́︿•̀。)
Again, I didn't proofread it so I apologize for any mistakes and such
As always, Thankyou for reading, I luv u all!!! xoxo 🎀 - unforgettwble-sumii

Friends?
(Wednesday Addams x fem! reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: One day, in the library, you catch Wednesday's attention... Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 || Part 4 Warnings: none a/n: expect a part 2, not proof read, it was in my drafts for like 3months now so I can't guaranty it's not awful (English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if there are mistakes or if something doesn't make sense TvT)
Wednesday pushed the library’s door and directly walked to the aisle she knew had the books she needed. After 10 minutes spent in said aisle, she let out a frustrated sigh; she couldn’t find the books, which meant someone either borrowed them already -which was unlikely, or the librarian forgot to put them back on the shelves.
Either way, it annoyed her.
Now she had to talk to the librarian to ask if the books were here, and it would probably take longer than necessary.
When she arrived at the desk with a blank expression, the woman was writing something on her computer, not sparing Wednesday a glance.
“I would like to borrow some books.” She said through gritted teeth, causing the librarian to look up
“What books?”
Wednesday put a piece of paper with the references of the books on the desk as an answer.
“Botanical curses & poisons, and The supernatural” the woman read out loud “You’re lucky, they’ve just got returned”
Wednesday raised an eyebrow. Even if she did think it could’ve happened, she was still surprised. She didn’t actually think anyone else would ever borrow these books. It wasn’t common seeing someone read that kind of books -or read at all. And usually Nevermore students only read the books in the school’s library.
She didn’t hear the door while she was in the aisle, which meant the person was still there. Maybe she had found a classmate with the same interests as her? Which didn’t mean she would try to befriend them, but it was always good to know.
“If you’re looking for the girl, she’s in the aisles over there” the librarian said, as she had already put the books on the desk
Wednesday looked at her, a frown on her face, but nodded once and grabbed the books.
She then walked to the aisles the woman talked about. And here you were, looking at the books on the shelves, reading the back of one while holding another in your arms; Royal art of poison. Wednesday had read that book before, she recognize it was a good one.
Her attention then shifted on your face, even if she could only see your profile. She was sure she never saw you at Nevermore. She usually had a good memory for that kind of things, so maybe you didn’t have classes in common.
After looking you up and down, she walked out of the building to go back to Nevermore.
On the way there, she couldn’t help but think if she had seen you in the hallways, she would’ve never thought you would read this type of books.
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
The following week, Wednesday tried to find you in the school. Unconsciously at first, as she didn’t really care, but then it became more and more important to her as she couldn’t seem to see you. That frustrated her. You had to be somewhere.
And yet she couldn’t find you.
She always got what she wanted, it was unusual for her to ‘fail’. So naturally, she decided to go back to the library.
When she did, she wandered in the aisles, looking for you. Unsuccessfully. It was like you didn’t even exist.
She felt like she was losing her mind, and it wasn’t as fun as she anticipated.
Just as she was about to go back in the aisle she saw you in for the first time, she saw Thing out of the corner of her eye. He was pointing a nearby aisle, signaling you were in there.
You were indeed in the aisle, looking at the books on the shelf in front of you. Venomous was already in your hands. A book about earth’s deadliest creatures… Wednesday thought.
Then your hand rose up to pick up another book; The Black Dahlia.
Now Wednesday was really interested by you. She never met anyone who knew about her favorite unsolved murder case, let alone read about it.
She took some step closer to you and grabbed a book on the shelf.
“You might as well read this one, if you’re interested in the Black Dahlia case.” she said as she handed you the book
You gave her a surprised look, not expecting anyone to recommend you any books in that section, let alone about this case.
“Oh, thanks” you grabbed the book “Do you know much about this case?”
“Of course, for it is my favorite unsolved murder. How come you know about it?”
“I saw a documentary on tv yesterday. Just thought I’d read some more about it. It seems to be a very interesting case” you explained
“Indeed.” A little pause “So what are you? Werewolf? Siren? Psychic?”
You frowned, confused as to why she would ask that.
“Are you from Nevermore?” you asked
“Are you not?”
You shook your head.
“I’m at Jericho High, sadly”
“‘Sadly’?”
You nodded.
“There’s a bunch of idiots there. Like- a whole bunch. I don’t really fit in. They’re all about social medias, hating on outcasts for no reason”
Wednesday looked at you, waiting for you to continue and explain yourself.
“I prefer books, even if I have to admit that scrolling on Pinterest while listening to music can be addicting. As for outcasts… I’ve always been interested in them, especially vampires. But I mean- every ‘class’ of outcasts I read about was interesting”
The raven took a moment to think about what you just said.
“It’s unusual to see a normie who doesn’t hate outcasts. Are you sure you’re a normie?”
“Pretty sure, yeah”
She looked you up and down after that, analyzing you. You seemed to be honest, she didn’t sense any hostility coming from you.
The following days, Wednesday caught herself thinking about your conversation, and by extension, about you. As much as it pained her to admit, something in you attracted her. Or at least made her ant to know more about you, which led her to the library once again.
This time, you were sitting at a table, reading another book about poisonous plants, some other books stacked next to you.
“Are you planning to murder someone?” she asked as she sat on the chair facing you
“Holy shit…! Do you make a habit out of scaring people?” you asked, half joking, a hand on your chest after her voice made you jump
“It’s more of a hobby. Who is going to be your victim?”
“No one!” you chuckled, once your heartbeat calmed down a bit “I’m just trying to find information about Aconitum, like where it grows, etc”
“Why?”
“I want to experiment with it myself, simple curiosity” you shrug
So you did want to poison someone. Interesting. She thought.
“No, no, I can guess what you’re thinking. I’m not trying to kill anyone. But you never know when that kind of information can be useful”
“Indeed.” she nodded, even if she was a bit disappointed
“And if I did want to kill someone, I would probably use something else like Nightshade or the Nerium Oleander -but I’d have to find some first” you added “Anyways, I need to go, I have class… See you later, maybe?”
Wednesday looked at you as you packed your things and left the library, not without putting the books back on their shelves. You definitely had a little something that made her look forward to the next time she would be in your company. That thought surprised her; she usually wasn’t one to seek others’ company.
She stayed sat at the table for a few minutes, lost in thoughts, before standing up almost abruptly. She walked to the door and was about to leave, when the librarian called her.
“Hey, wait a sec!”
Wednesday turned to face the woman who got out from behind her desk. She handed something.
“What is that?”
“A micro-cassette recorder. It must have fallen from your friend’s bag when she left. I thought you could give it back to her”
“She’s not my friend.” Wednesday said blankly but took the object anyways
The librarian rolled her eyes at the smaller girl and went back to her desk while Wednesday left the library, putting your recorder in her backpack.
“What’s that?”
Wednesday looked up from her typewriter; Enid was holding the recorder.
“A micro-cassette recorder.” she simply said “Put it back where it was, Enid.”
“Oooh what are you doing with it? Recording podcasts? I thought your thing was novels” the blonde continued, not listening
“‘My thing’ is novels.”
“Then what’s on this recorder?”
Before the raven could say anything else, the werewolf pressed the play button.
“Okay… Is it recording? Ah, yes, the numbers are moving. Okay okay… um… Where do I even start? God I must look so dumb talking to that thing… Anyways. Uh… Day 1 of research on outcasts, I guess? Is that how they do in movies?”
The recorder stopped playing, for Wednesday had pressed the button again, taking it from Enid’s hands.
“Whose voice is that? It’s not yours”
“Of course not. It’s…” she paused, looking for the right words “… it belongs to someone I met at the library.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about her?? I want to know everything!”
“There’s nothing to say.”
“Why do you have her recorder then?”
“She forgot it. I just keep it until I can give it back.”
“Hmhm, sure”
Enid said with a big smile, before going back to her activities: laying on her bed and scroll on Instagram, probably. The other girl watched her do so, then went back to her writing, putting the recorder on her desk.
After half an hour of peaceful writing, she heard Enid tell her she was going in Yoko’s dorm for whatever gossip session they had every week. From the corner of her eye, Wednesday saw the recorder move closer to her.
Thing was pushing it in her direction.
“What is it?”
“Don’t you want to hear more?” Thing signed
“I wouldn’t like it if anyone read my novel without asking me first.”
“But you’re curious”
“… Of course.”
“Listen to it then! Maybe you’ll be able to help her. She seems nice, she won’t get upset” Thing signed quickly, almost as curious as Wednesday to hear your research
“Fine. Give it to me.”
Thing pushed the recorder further so she could grab it. She did, and pressed play again, but not after a glance at Thing.
“A word to Enid and I’ll snap all your fingers.”
“Hmhm… so I borrowed this book in Jericho’s library about outcasts -I’m surprised they have books about that considering the way they see them. I think it was a pretty interesting book!”
Wednesday listened to what you had to say on that book, then fast-forwarded to a bit later on the record.
“… lost count of the days at this point. It’s crazy how I can’t find anything more than what I already read! It’s like normies’ knowledge about outcast is only the basics -not to say the clichés. God, I wish I was at Nevermore. I’m sure they have sooo much more books there. Not only about outcasts, but about poisonous plants as well!”
The raven was about to stop listening when you started speaking again.
“Oh, yesterday, I met a girl at the library! She advised me to read a certain book about The Black Dahlia case. She said she was from Nevermore. Well, she didn’t deny it. I wonder what’s her gift… But it’s a weird question to ask, isn’t it? I bet she knows lots of outcasts if she studies there…  of course she does, what I am even saying?”
The record stopped by itself after that.
Wednesday had the tiniest smile on her face. You were smart, that she had noticed when you first talked, yet hearing you speak freely like that made you sound so clumsy. You were passionate, that was for sure.
“Thing, do you think you can find her quickly?”
A knock on your bedroom window caught your attention. Your stopped what you were doing and opened it. To your surprise, a hand -without a body- ran (?) in your room.
You looked at it, mouth agape, certainly not expecting that.
“Hi…?” you said hesitantly
The hand stopped on your desk and starting signing.
“I uh… don’t speak sign language… sorry”
The hand paused, as if it was sighing.
“You can… hear me?” you asked, surprised
It gave you a thumbs up as an answer, before showing its palm to you. A message was written on it with a marker: ‘You forgot your recorder at the library. Call me.’ Followed by a phone number.
 “Thank you”
You said while typing the number on your phone, before calling it.
On the other side, Wednesday was waiting in front of Enid’s computer. She remembered how to use it from last time Enid told her. When she saw you were calling, she pressed the spacebar to pick up.
She certainly didn’t expect to see you with Thing on your shoulder.
“Hi!” you said with a smile “So you found my recorder? I was afraid someone random found it…” you paused “Your room is… more colorful that I would’ve imagined”
“It’s my roommate’s side.” Wednesday frowned, a bit offended you could think she would decorate her room this way
“Oh. What does your side looks like then?”
She turned Enid’s computer to show you -quite proudly.
“Ohh it’s nice! Wait- you have a typewriter?? That’s so cool! Like the overall decoration”
Thing typed lightly on your shoulder.
“Oh, yes, sorry. He’d like me to drive him back to Nevermore. Which I can understand, it’s a bit far away… So, we were wondering if you could open a window or something? I don’t think your principal would appreciate if someone from outside came without permission”
“You don’t have to do that.”
“I know. Let’s say it’s for keeping my recorder safe, that way we’re even” you smiled
Wednesday nodded, and said she would open their window, just before your parents called you from downstairs, asking who you were talking to. While you were answering them, Thing gave the raven a thumbs up.
Of course it was your plan all along, bringing her here… she thought, a slight smile forming on her lips again. Well played.
After going out by your bedroom window, took your bike, put Thing in the little basket attached to the handlebar, and started making your way to Nevermore. On the way there, you talked with Thing; he used your phone to type and made it read the text out loud so you could hear.
When you arrived at Nevermore’s gate, you left your bike against the low wall near the entrance. To your surprise, the gate wasn’t closed -which was a good thing. You got on the school’s territory, walking silently to the school itself.
You had only ever seen it in pictures, and you had to admit, it was way cooler to see it for real.
Thing tapped your shoulder, bringing you back to reality, and pointing at a big round window with a metallic spider web on it. It was probably the dorm you had to reach.
“You could’ve told me it was on the fourth floor…”
You examined the architecture of the school, before cracking your knuckles and starting to climb.
“If I fall… I hope I won’t break too many bones”
After what seemed like an eternity, and three times almost falling, you finally reached the balcony. You took a moment to lay there, catching your breath, Thing patting your arm reassuringly.
He then disappeared inside and came back with the raven right as you were standing back up.
“Thing said you were hurt.” Wednesday said, her eyes shifting from your face to your hands, bruised by the climbing
“Oh, it’s okay. I’ve done rock-climbing with my parents before, I’m used to it”
“… If you say so.” she paused, and handed you your recorder
“I almost forgot about it” you chuckled, taking it from her hands and putting it in a pocket of your vest “Thank you”
Wednesday nodded. You did the same, as a goodbye, and were ready to go back home, when she spoke again.
“If you want more books about outcasts or something else…” she stepped forward and gave you a piece of paper “… let me know.”
You took the paper and opened it. Another phone number. You had guessed the previous one wasn’t hers, and according to what Thing told you, she never used the phone some guy gifted her.
You smiled and put the paper in your pocket.
“Thank you”
You were about to leave, but you remembered something.
“You never told me your name”
“Neither did you.”
“I’m Y/n. Y/n L/n”
“Wednesday. Wednesday Addams.”
“It was nice seeing you, Wednesday” you smiled “It’s probably going to sound weird… But I enjoy your presence, I feel understood. I hope we’ll be good friends. Anyways, good night!”
With that, you climbed down the wall, disappearing from her field of view.
Wednesday looked at the sky; it was dark, lots of clouds, but the moon was still visible behind them. It even illuminated the raven’s face.
Thing tapped in her direction.
“I only tolerate her presence. Don’t imagine things.”
More tapping, and what looked like he was rolling his eyes.
“One more word and you’re locked in the drawer until I decide otherwise.”
Thing saw it as the sign to go back inside, not wanting to risk it.
When she was alone on the balcony, Wednesday’s eyes shifted to your small form while you were getting on your way home.
Her little smile was back, that smile which was so unusual to see on her face, that only the people she really cared about ever saw.
Friends, hm? I suppose that’s what we are.

"I do care." — Levi Ackerman x gn reader
Content & possible warnings: cold Levi, gender neutral reader, Erwin as Levi's friend, arguing & insults (not a lot), one-sided love until it isn't, slight angst (ends on a positive note), fluff
Plot: Levi loves you, yet he pushes you away due to fear of losing you.
Author's note: I don't have a lot of experience on the field of fanfics so constructive criticism is welcomed, suggestions as well (check my pinned post for details). Also this was written at night so it's not full potential but I had to write something jsjsjsjsjs
(I might make a part 2, depending on how people like this one.)
"Do you ever shut up?" blunt question interrupted your passionate rambling.
"And are you ever friendly?" you asked as visible frown formed on your face. He was always like this, yet you never got used to it. He seemed to be even colder around you than the others, which made no sense to you.
"Don't get cozy with me. I'm still your captain." his eyes narrowed as he noticed frown on your face. However, it didn't make a difference to his unfriendly behaviour.
"Sorry, captain", you spit out his title like it was poison, causing his eyes to narrow further in annoyance.
"Whatever. get out, brat", he turned away from you, focusing on the pile of papers on his desk again. He payed no attention to your presence anymore, it didn't matter to him.
Once again you felt small sting in your heart. It never really stopped hurting, even though he treated you like this all the time. ~
Except..
"Don't forget your jacket, idiot." Levi hissed at you and placed a jacket over your shoulders. ~
It was past midnight, but you couldn't get sleep and decided to light up a candle to read instead. Not a long after you heard sharp knock on your door, following with Levi's usual cold tone: "I expect my soldiers to take care of themselves. So, why are you not asleep?" ~
You were excitedly talking about a book you had read earlier, when you took a glance at him. He looked more bored than usual, so you decided to stop talking. "Why'd you stop?" his eyes snapped back at you, brows furrowing. ~
It was the small moments that made your heart flutter and stopped you from losing hope. This made loving him really painful, you never knew when he would act like he hated you and when you would get proof that he actually cared.
Today was one of those days when it seemed like the mere existence of yours in the same room as him was insufferable to him. So you left. ~
Oh, if he only knew of the tears you shed because of him. He never really reciprocated your feelings, but he didn't let you go either. You were attached to him by a string of hope, yet that was all you would ever get. Or so it seemed. ~
At Erwin's office:
"Levi. You should tell them before it's too late", Erwin said with that strict but friendly tone of his. He had noticed how Levi was denying his feelings towards you.
"What do you know about that?" Levi crossed his arms, clearly not appreciating his friend's advice.
"I know how you look at them when you think that no one notices. And I've seen the small gestures you make", Erwin explained calmly, not willing to drop the subject.
"If you don't tell them, you'll have to live with the regret once they're in love with someone else, or worse."
"Precisely why I don't tell them. I don't need to watch someone I love die in front of me anymore", Levi answered with bittersweet voice and stared at the floor.
"You love them, wether you admit it or not. Wouldn't it be nicer to live with the memories of them, rather than with the regret of not being brave enough to admit your feelings?" Erwin asked while keeping his gaze on Levi. He didn't enjoy seeing his friend in a difficult situation like this.
"You make it sound like I am a coward", Levi huffed, even though he couldn't deny Erwin's words did make sense.
"Maybe you are", Erwin hummed in response, causing Levi to throw daggers at him with his gaze. ~
Later:
It was late in the evening and you were getting ready for bed, still thinking of Levi and his changing behaviours. Maybe you should talk to him about it, tell him to stop messing with you. Or would that be seen as being disrespectful towards your captain? He would definitely complain about it.
This train of thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a familiar knock on the door. "May I come in?"
It was Levi, and your heartbeat accelerated from the tone of his voice. It was softer than usual, something wasn't right.
You open the door to stare at him in disbelief, meeting his eyes.
"You weren't sleeping, right?" he asks and shifts back to the cold demeanor. Perhaps you misheard his earlier tone.
"No.. I wasn't", you answer slowly, still staring at him. The situation was uncomfortable.
"No one told that your staring is weird? Or do I have something on my face?" Levi asks with dry voice, brows furrowing.
"No, I just.. Why are you here?" you couldn't help but to wonder why was he there, since most of the time he didn't voluntarily seek your company.
"Our earlier conversation ended on a bad note", he explains.
'Ended on a bad note'? When did he ever care of being rude towards you or ending conversations with insults? Something was seriously not right.
"I didn't think you cared of that", you blurt out a bit too harshly.
Levi's expression turns into slight frown. Of course he would have known you would think that, considering how harsh his behaviour towards you often were. Still, it managed to unpleasantly surprise him.
"I do care."
Three words you never expected to hear from him. Three words that made your eyes widen in shock, had you misheard?
"You do?" was all you managed to let out. Your question held more weight that the words told, yet he understood that.
"I do."

My Forgotten Love (Yandere BOTW x reader)
Tumblr media
Link often wonders if he's better off without his memories.
As he explores across the distant land of Hyrule, he's constantly bombarded with echoes of the past, of the person he once was.
He was a hero, a knight who wields the master sword, the sword that seals the darkness. He protected the princess of Hyrule, the one who carries the power of the Triforce of wisdom. He was strong, courageous, brave. Thats what everyone told him anyway.
He never felt strong, courageous, or brave. In fact, he was afraid most of the time. Afraid of dying, afraid of his past, afraid of what lies ahead of him once his journey is over. He was always somewhat afraid, but as the last protector of Hyrule, there was no place for fear. So, he buried it all down, never acknowledging it, in the hope it would disappear.
The fear bubbled up and almost spilled out of him when he found an abandoned house near castle town that caused his head to spin. It was lonely, Link would've missed it if it wasn't for the pain it caused. it was small, only a single person could've lived there, but it felt homey, and strangely warm as he walked inside. It was a single room decorated with a desk, bed, and fireplace, a pot hanging above it. The walls were covered n maps, notes, and other little writings that were worn to time.
The desk was in the far corner of the room, a single, unlabeled book, on top of it. It called to him, like a distant friend you haven't seen in a while, filling his body up with warmth that drowned out the pain he previously felt. His body moved on its own, quickly opening it up, reading note that was attached inside the back of the cover.
"(Y/N) (L/N)'s personal diary. Please do not read if your name if Purah or Robbie."
(Y/N). (Y/N)? Why does his chest hurt when he reads the name? Ignoring it, he flipped the page, absorbing the words on the page.
Entry 1:
"I don't know how to start this. Purah had suggested starting a diary log to record my day to day. Why you ask? I never got a straight answer from her. Purah's like that, bringing things up quickly and dropping them just as fast. Either way, I guess recording my thoughts isn't that bad. As long as it gets, Purah off my back for a while, I'll do whatever she asks. Speaking of Purah, Impa (her younger sister), recommended her to the Princess to study the recently excavated Shaikah tech. Is it bad to say I'm jealous?
Entry 2:
Purah can definitely tell I'm jealous. Maybe she's been reading my diary? I don't know. It might be because I'm kinda avoiding her, but it's only because I've been busy with my studies, nothing else. Either way, she's been talking nonstop to me and Robbie about her studies of the shrines. Speaking of Robbie, Purah put him in charge of the guardians, which he seems very eager about. It was then when I asked her if I could help out. She didn't give a straight answer, like always, but I could tell she was holding something bad, like she was thinking heavily about something.
Entry 3:
I'm very excited! Purah came to me and said she talked to the Princess, and she agreed to let me study the Divine Beasts! I could barely contain my happiness; I ran write home to start writing this (sorry about my handwriting). I plan on thanking Purah properly after I meet the Princess. Apparently, she'll bring me up to speed on somethings I need to know about the Beasts before boarding them. I'm just so excited, I need to take a nap before I write off this page.
Entry 4:
Princess Zelda was very kind, but that was to be expected. She was more than happy to listen to my hypothesis about the Divine Beasts. She was accompanied by her sworn protector, Link. He was, quiet, to say the least. He didn't really, do that much, just listened to our conversations quietly. It was sort of awkward, but I got over it quickly. It was weird though, it felt like his gaze was on me more than it was on the Princess. Even when I left, his stare was almost imprinted on me. Maybe it was my fault, probably. Anyway, on the Princess's request, I'll be traveling to the Devine Beasts with him. I won't be able to write then, so see you soon!
Entry 5:
I'm happy to be home. The journey around Hyrule took a little over a month, and it was very tiresome. There's lots to talk about. Firstly, I met the Champions, at least most of them. I was unable to meet Daruk, Champion of Vah Rudania. Death Mountain is too dangerous for Hylians, and it would be dangerous to bring it down the mountain. Hopefully I'll get to meet him soon, I've heard a lot of great things about him. The other Champions were great, well most of them. Revali, Champion of Vah Medoh was...very boastful. He talked a lot, mostly about himself. But I guess I would be boastful if I could pilot a Devine Beast.
I think I got closer with Link. I say think because it was really hard to tell. It took a while to get him to talk, he was silent most of the time I tried. It got to the point where I just talked about everything, just so I wouldn't have to sit in silence. Eventually, when he reached Zora's domain, he started to talk. It was sparce, but he would talk about what life was like as a child. I learned he liked to cook (his cooking is very good). He also let me talk about my findings and while it was obvious he didn't understand most of it, it was nice for him to listen to me.
I had a really great time. I hope Link did too.
Entry 6:
I think I'm being watched. Zelda has been requesting my appearance at Hyrule Castle more and more, I practically live there. Every time I step foot there, I can't help but feel like someone is watching me. I never bring it up, since I'm with the princess most of the time and I don't want to bother her. I have some ideas on who it could be, but no concrete answers. I sometimes catch Revali staring at me whenever he has business at the castle, but even when he's not there, I can feel someone's eyes on me. Honestly, I think Revali might just be hung up on me visiting Vah Medoh with one of his least favorite people (sorry Link). There's also one of the men within Hyrule's royal guard, I believe his name was Thomas. He’s pretty shy, but he had a bunch of questions about my research. We talked for a while before I was pulled away by the princess and Link. Speaking of Link, he’s been a little on edge lately, especially with the other members of the guard. He says it because they’re “distracted”. He’s even become a little, clingy? I don’t know, it’s probably just my imagination, I’m going to bed.
Entry 7:
I haven’t seen Thomas in a while. He hasn’t shown up to the castle in weeks. Link said he was slacking off and he got what he deserved, honestly it was kinda scary. I even brought it up to the princess, but she really didn’t seem to care. I hope he’s okay.
Honestly, I haven’t seen really anyone in a while. Since Zelda is nearing her 17th birthday, she’s been up at the shrine of wisdom trying to awaken her powers. Link has been with her, same with the champions, and Purah and Robbie have been busy with preparing for Ganon. It’s been really stressful, all I can really do is try to help them, and pray to Hylia that everything turns out okay.
The rest of the pages, which are slightly burn and blank, fill Link with dread. You were someone he knew, someone he cared for, someone he loved, how could he forget you? This journal is the only thing he has to remember yoh by, and it makes him want to lay down and die. Out of all the people in all of Hyrule, why wasn’t he able to protect you. This was his fault.
Link doesn’t acknowledge the tears that runs down his face as he pockets the journal with immense care so to not damage it. He doesn’t wipe them from his face as he leaves the house that brought him a fleeting sense of comfort and warmth. And Link doesn’t flinch as the tears continue to steam and hit the grown as he walk away, heading towards Hateno.

You faint in front of them
english isn’t my first language, sorry for mistakes
characters: cyno + tighnari + thoma (separate) it's only fluff I think but just in case tw(?: the reader faints (let me know if there's something else)
word count: 1k (300 per each approx.)
Tumblr media
Cyno
The heat left marks all over our bodies, while Cyno seemed relaxed and with a steady pace, I could not help wiggling my limbs to peel off the fabric of my clothes. My breathing was barely level as my legs trembled with each step on the great dunes of the Sumeru desert. The beads of sweat trickling down my forehead were beginning to feel cold and my vision was blurring. "Cyno…" I tried to call out to him in a whisper. The air from the nearby sandstorm was carrying me away and I felt like there was nothing I could do to stop it. My eyelids grew heavier and heavier, as did my body.
The boy heard the small call of his name in the distance, a few feet behind him.
He turned around expecting a complaint from you How much further to go?, It's too hot, My legs hurt, but none of that came, all he could see was your body collapsing on the sand.
Cyno ran towards you and threw his spear anywhere, the first thing was to get you under shelter.
He guessed you had a sunstroke or something like that, he had seen it more than once in his expeditions in the desert, he was prepared for it.
I opened my eyes, seeing above me a blue-hued tent, was I in a Fatui camp? I tried to rise abruptly but a hand rested on my arm. "Relax, I'm here." Cyno's form appeared at my left side, holding a wet cloth. "Stay still, there's no need to get upset. I'm done with all those merchants, they weren't going with good intentions after all." He bent down and rested his lips on my head, if I wasn't red before, this made me red. "I think you need more rest, I'll stay outside standing guard." His spear resting on some crates was taken and he gave me one last look before leaving. "Thanks for everything, Cyno."
Tumblr media
Tighnari
My desk was full of papers and documents about the flora of Sumeru, the scholars asked me for a small paper for some experiments being conducted at the academy and I didn't know how to refuse. The hours I had spent sitting and writing became too much even for me, a passionate ranger. The curtains of my cabin opened, letting in the moonlight, the last time I looked the sun was at its highest point. "I brought your dinner, have you even had your lunch?" Tighnari's voice distracted me from the mountain of scribbled papers that only seconds ago my head was buried in. "You didn't need to, what time is it?" "Around eleven, I thought it was strange not seeing you leave here, even when Collei came back from the expedition." He set the plate down on my nightstand and walked over to me "Come on, get up. I'll talk to the scholars." I pushed the chair away from the desk and stood up, a strong feeling of dizziness hit me and I grabbed the boy's arm.
He was surprised to see you fall on him, but tried to act as relaxed as possible.
Tighnari laid you down on the bed and went to get a canteen so you could have something to drink when you woke up.
He sat in the chair, worried that something too bad might have happened to you. He thought he shouldn't have taken you to clean up withered areas or given you small jobs when he knew how busy you had been these days.
His hands went through the papers and books you had studied, reading everything and leaving little notes on the most important parts or mistakes you might have made.
The sound of chirping jungle birds woke me up, the hunger and thirst I had reminded me of Tighnari's unexpected visit the night before. I looked around, seeing the dinner plate he brought along with a bottle. Farther away, with his arms crossed and eyes closed, was he, sleeping in a not very comfortable posture. My features melted at the thought of how worried he must have been to spend the whole night here, taking care of me.
Tumblr media
Thoma
After spending a nice afternoon with Thoma at the Komore tea house, he decided that we could play his wonderful game of picking out strange foods. Was that a good idea? No. The bad taste in my mouth after several retches from the mixture that had formed in the casserole didn't help and the sight I had of the meals being stirred by Thoma didn't help either. "I can't take it anymore, I'm going to throw up…" "Are you feeling okay?" he immediately put down the spoon and rested his hand on mine. "You're getting pale" The room became more and more distorted as the seconds passed, which became eternal in my eyes, and in less than a minute my brain stopped working.
When Thoma saw you collapse beside him he laid you down on the softest surface he could find. Placing a cushion or anything of the sort over your head and feet.
He ran to get a damp cloth and lay it gently on your forehead.
After all, he tried his best to make you feel good once you woke up, he felt in a way that it was his fault.
Thoma checked several times if you had already woken up, and if the answer to his little inquiry about you was negative he took care to see if everything was still in order, wet cloth, well placed cushions and a comfortable position for you.
The sensation of moisture on my head woke me up, bringing my hand there instinctively. "Are you okay?" The whisper of Thoma's voice brought me back to what had happened. "Yes… I think, better than before" "I'm glad to hear that, I brought you an infusion to ease the pain in your gut, is that what happened, right?" I nodded gently, not wanting a headache back. He held the cup up to me, helping me take little gulps.

The first time Yuu met Malleus, it felt like fate.
Yuu. daughter of a viscount in the City of Flowers, was exhausted. She had traveled long and far to Briar Valley for the king's 3-day birthday ball because her father insisted on her attending. Why? Being the unmarried woman Yuu was, her father used the party as an opportunity for her to meet other noblemen. He dragged her to meet different bachelors so that Yuu did not have time to eat something or even get a glance at the king.
The girl plopped down on a bench in the middle of the castle's rose garden. She wanted nothing more than to think about anything but marriage when she would instead enjoy being in a new area. Yuu smiled as she eyed a nearby rose. The rose was not a vibrant red like the ones in the Queendom of Roses. Instead, they emitted a magical glow that made them unique to the ones from the Queendom.
The sound of footsteps brought her out of her thoughts.
"Oh, I did not think there would be people here."
Yuu turned, and her breath hitched. Standing a few feet away was a tall, regally dressed man with long jet-black hair slicked back to show a unique pattern on his head. The man's horns and green eyes stood out to Yuu the most. The man was definitely a fae. If his looks could not spell it out, the magical aura he emitted also did.
"I'm sorry. I could move to another spot."
The man shook his head. "There is no need. Can I sit next to you?'
Yuu felt as if she should be intimidated, but she nodded anyways. She could feel his magical aura grow with each step he took until he sat beside her. The two sat in silence as Yuu stared at the roses, and the man looked up at the stars.
"So, what brings you to the royal garden?" The man asked with curiosity in his voice.
Yuu sighed. "I just wanted some air. What about you?”
"I wanted to go for a walk. The palace is peaceful at night.”
It is. I want to experience longer, but my father is trying to marry me off, so he brought me here to meet some bachelors." A small smile formed on her face. "The thing is, I want to marry for love. I also want to enjoy my time here, but that might not happen."
The man felt empathy for Yuu. “I understand what you are going through."
"Yeah. I just want to think about anything else but that."
There was a moment of silence until the man spoke. "Did you know the king loves gargoyles?"
Yuu blinked and immediately turned to the man. He only looked down at her with a calm expression. "Pardon?"
"The king loves gargoyles. That's why you see them all over the castle." The man pointed to different parts of the exterior where multiple gargoyles sat. Yuu was too focused on the roses before to notice how many there were.
"That's really interesting."
"Indeed. Did you also know that it is not used for decoration but to move water from a roof and away from running down the side of the building."
"Really! Can you tell me more facts?" Yuu's eyes sparkled with interest. She did not expect her night to be spent talking about gargoyles, but she would choose that over potential husbands.
The man smiled for the first time that night. "Certainly, Lady-"
“Yuu. You can call me Yuu.”
"Yuu." The man tested the name on his tongue. "And you can call me whatever you want."
Yuu's eyebrows furrowed slightly. "You don't want to tell me your name."
The man chuckled. "I want to keep that a secret but don't worry. I have no ill intentions behind it. A nickname will suffice for now."
Yuu thought back to the books she read regarding fae and his type. None mentioned which species had big horns, so it was hard to tell. Still, she could not take her eyes off his horns.
"How about Tsunotarou?"
Tsutarou's eyes widened briefly until he genuinely laughed, causing Yuu to laugh. "What a peculiar name…Alright. I will take it, Yuu."
Yuu stopped laughing and smiled. Her eyes met Tsunotarou's green ones. "Now, will you tell me more facts?'
Tsunotarou felt something form in his chest. It was a warm and fuzzy feeling that he could not explain. Maybe Lilia knew something about it? "Certainly."
---
The next night they meet, Tsunotarou teleported to the garden.
"Still running away from suitors?"
Yuu's eyes widened with excitement, and she stood up. "Tsunotarou! Can you do that again?"
Tsunotarou blinked owlishly. "Do what again?"
"Teleport! When you do that, you leave behind firefly-like lights. They look like tiny stars."
Tsunotarou blinked, and then he smiled. "Alright. I will do it for you." A glow of green light emitted from his body, and he disappeared, leaving behind small sparkles of light. Tsunotarou reappeared, sitting at his spot on the bench. "Are you satisfied?"
Yuu grinned and sat down next to Tsunotarou. "Very." Her eyes gleamed like the stars she was looking at. "Before you came here, I was looking up at the stars. It's something I like to do at home."
"Really?" He joined Yuu in stargazing. "What do you like about them?"
"Do you see those two stars, the really bright ones?" Yuu pointed at two stars sitting diagonal to one another. Both stars shined brightly compared to the rest. "There is a legend in Port O'Bliss about a firefly who was in love with a firefly who was actually a star. The firefly stared at the star at night, professing his love, but he could never touch her. Almost like she was on another planet. The firefly made a wish to be with her. One day, his wish came true, and when you see two stars shining brightly at night, that is the firefly and his love."
Tsunotarou felt the same feeling in his chest as he stared at Yuu. It was the same as the night before but more intense. "That is a beautiful story."
"I agree. So whenever I feel sad or alone, I look up at the stars and make a wish because I know those two fireflies are listening." Yuu turned to Tsunotarou with a smile on her face. Tsunotarou's heart skipped a beat. "You should do the same thing. We can do one now." She closed her eyes, brought her hands together, and whispered under her breath despite Tsunotarou's heightened hearing. The fae chose to stay quiet out of respect.
Tsunotarou looked up at the stars again, deep in thought. He felt relaxed around this woman who was practically a stranger. He felt like he could let his guard down around her. The feeling from earlier had increased more, and the fae could not stop thinking about Yuu. Tomorrow was the last night of his party, and he knew what he needed to do. For now, under the witness of the firefly and his love, he would make a wish upon the star and to make Yuu's wish come true.
---
The third time they met was on the dancefloor.
"So I won last year's hunt with a…"
Yuu tuned out the next bachelor, her mind filled with thoughts of her friend Tsunotarou. Usually, it would be easy to slip away and go to the garden. Still, the bachelors must have read her mind because they were insistent on showing her off. Yuu wanted her torture to end and meet up with her friend.
A trumpet silenced the chatter, and Yuu thanked the deity above for hearing her prayer. Her eyes landed on two young men, one with green hair and one with silver hair, entering the balcony. Their eyes scanned the crowd before the green-haired man cleared his throat. Another man with black and pink hair walked in front of them.
"Hello, everyone! I hope that you are having fun tonight. I know I am!" The man laughed, and everyone joined him. "But this is not about me. Tonight is about our king, who finally wants to show himself. So make sure to give him lots of birthday wishes. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you King Malleus Draconia!"
Yuu felt her breath hitch as a familiar head of black hair, striking green eyes, and horns walked out. She felt the world slow down as reality came crashing down. There, the king of Briar Valley was none other than Tsunotarou-
No. Malleus Draconia.
Yuu felt horrified and heer heartbeat increase. How could she, a guest at this party, treat the king so casually? Why did he let her? Yuu looked around the room, only for her eyes to meet Malleus' staring straight at her.
"I need to get some air." Yuu quickly said to her companion and ran off from the crowd. She let her feet carry her anywhere in the gigantic castle. Yuu stopped in a long hallway to catch her breath. She let her back rest against the wall and let her body slide down to the floor. Yuu hid her face in her dress as she reflected on the recent events.
Despite it being only two days, Yuu felt happy being around Malleus. Their interactions had no romantic intentions, but there was a connection, and the two clicked. Yuu felt her heart beat faster after making a new friend. Maybe, with more time, there could be something more.
Click Click
The sound of heels coming closer caused Yuu to pick her head up. Two beautiful fae women were heading her way. Both had disapproving looks on their faces.
"Well, well. You must be the woman the king is fascinated with." One smirked, looking Yuu up and down.
"We heard that the king has been sneaking out a lot. Who knew he was meeting with a human? Why don't you go back to where you came from?" The other scoffed.
Yuu felt a bad feeling in her chest. "What do you want?" she asked slowly.
The first one sneered. "You are nothing but a magicless human. You don't deserve to stand next to Malleus."
Yuu felt annoyed. How dare these ladies come in and mock her for being a human! Malleus knew all along and was interested in her. "As if you are any better! You two don't know him like I do."
The second one rolled her eyes. "Maybe we do, maybe we don't, but that does not stop the fact that you are dirt under my shoe."
"What is going on here," A stern but motherly voice asked, causing the group to freeze. Yuu watched as another fae woman entered. She was beautiful like the other woman, and her aura reminded Yuu of the small fae with black and pink hair.
"Lady Vanrouge!" The women curtsey, causing Yuu to join them despite not knowing the woman. "How are you today?"
Lady Vanrouge only stared at the group. "Fine, but you did not answer my question. What are you doing here?"
"W-we were just talking to our new friend, the human." One girl said nervously, but Lady Vanrouge did not buy it. She crossed her arms and stared at them icily.
"Really? Then what was the part about the human being dirt under your shoe? Or what was the last thing?" She hummed as she tapped her chin with her finger, pretending to think, "Not worthy of standing next to the King?"
"B-but-"
The fae smiled with a mad glint in her eyes. It mirrored one that the infamous Lilia Vanrouge had with his soldiers, sending chills through the girl's spines. "No buts. Consider yourselves lucky you were not caught by my husband or my son, who, by the way, is a human. Despite that, I still love him, and I will love him as my son no matter what he is. He could be a worm for all I care about, and I will still love him.
Lady Vanrouge smirked evilly and waved the girls off with her hand in a "shoo" motion. "Now get out of my sight before I change my mind and act like my husband." The women squealed and immediately bolted out of the room, leaving Yuu and Lady Vanrouge alone. The fae turned to Yuu with a smile. Her eyes were now softer and had a motherly look to them. "Now, you must be the human I heard about."
"Was it anything bad?"
Lady Vanrouge laughed loudly. "Nonsense! I heard good things about you from my husband, who heard it all from the king. Come now. Why don't I walk you back to the party?"
"I appreciate that. Thank you." The two walked in silence until Yuu spoke up. "So the King talks about me?"
The woman smiled. "Yes, he has been talking about you since you met."
"Even though I am a human?"
"Does that change anything? Do you still want to be Malleus' friend after knowing he is a king?" Yuu shook her head. "See, so you should still be with him. I'm sure he is missing you already."
"Thank you, Lady Vanrouge."
The two made idle chit-chat as they headed to the door leading to the ballroom. As the fae woman opened the door, Yuu's eyes widened as she was face to face with Malleus himself.
"Tsunotarou.."
"Yuu…"
The two were so focused on each other that they failed to notice the shorter face staring at them. Lilia noticed how Malleus had a familiar expression on his face. It was the same one he had when he looked at his wife. Meanwhile, Yuu looked at Malleus like he was the brightest star in the sky. The short fae put the two on two together. He gave his wife a look to which she responded with her own.
"Oh, this is my favorite song! Would you like to join me for a dance?" Lilia smirked at his wife.
"Of course, my love." Lady Vanrouge walked to her husband and looped his arm around hers. Her eyes focused on Malleus. "Malleus, do you mind walking Yuu back to the party? I was going to do it, but you two have some things to sort through."
Malleus turned to the woman and nodded. "Yes, I will do that. You have fun. my Lady."
"You as well." The woman smiled and left with Lilia. Now that Yuu and Malleus were alone, the tension in the room increased.
Malleus' regal stature relaxed, and he had a sad look. "I understand why you would run off, and I apologize. After my announcement, I planned to explain everything, but you were gone before I could get to you." Malleus said. For the king of Briar Valley, he looked like a kicked puppy.
Yuu smiled sadly and gently grabbed Malleus' hand. "It just threw me off guard, and I apologize for running away. I should have talked to you instead."
Malleus smiled and pulled Yuu into a hug. "You are forgiven, Yuu. However, you owe me a dance. I still want to have my first dance of the night with you."
Yuu smiled and nodded. “I will be honored, but we must reintroduce ourselves first.”
"Of course." Malleus picked up one of Yuu's hands and kissed her knuckles. "I am Malleus Draconia, King of Briar Valley.” He looked at her with a gentle smile. “But you can call me Tsunotarou.”
Yuu curtsied to Malleus. “You can call me Yuu, a lady from the City of Flowers.”
“Well, Yuu.” Malleus held a hand out to Yuu. “Would you do me the honor of joining me in my first dance?”
Yuu placed her hand on his and looked at Malleus confidently. “Of course.”
Unexpectedly, Malleus leaned down and pressed a feather-like kiss on Yuu’s forehead. “You deserve to spend the rest of the night treated like a princess."
That night, both Yuu and Malleus' wishes came true. Meanwhile, in the night sky, the firefly and his love's light enveloped the couple through the windows as they danced through the night.
---
Later that night, in Silver's room.
"Sebek, do you think your parents would love you if you were a worm?"
After spending years with Silver hosting the sleepovers, Sebek had heard many weird things coming out of Silver's mouth. The half-fae shifted in his spot next to Silver and stared at him with a "wtf" face. "Silver, you are speaking nonsense. Go to sleep." Sebek huffed and turned around to face away from Silver.
Silver only stared up at the ceiling contemplating the question. He had no idea why, but it came to him randomly during the party. He had spent all night pondering on it. It may be something his parents would know. Speaking of-
"I think my parents would."
"Go to sleep, Silver!"

Simon “Ghost” Riley x Reader
He's confused.
a/n : Just a small drabble before I start working on longer one-shots. I hope I did him justice 🥹 can be read as platonic or romantic
To define the relationship that you and Simon have is.. complicated. You're no strangers, definitely not, but you're closer than friends. Then again, "best friends" seems like a childish term to place onto what you two have.
It took him a while to open up to you about even the smallest things, and they were usually out of thin air, too. Like he'd decided to just risk it and tell you that vulnerable little detail.
It's chilly outside, you notice as you step onto the balcony of the temporary stay for the Task Force. Simon's leaning on the railing, puffing a cigarette. You can't really tell if it's his breath or the smoke he lets out that forms a tiny cloud. Might as well be both. "Ghost," You greet, although it's rather just to let him know you're there, since he isn't really fond of conversation. Not with anyone, it seems. Except for Mactavish.
Simon perks up at the sound of his callsign, turning to look at you with those same calm eyes. He's silent, goes back to taking a drag of his cigarette before offering it to you. "Y/n," He greets back. You take a quick drag of the cigarette before passing it back to him. "You alright, Ghost?" You ask, tilting your head to observe him. Despite asking this question, you know he'll always answer with the same 'i'm fine'. He gives a slow nod. "I'm alright." Simon pauses, then turns to you. "You can call me Simon, yeah?"
To you, it was just a little glimpse into knowing what Simon could be like if he knew he could trust you. But you felt no rush for it. All in it's own time, you supposed.
Simon was settled on the sofa beside you now in the main hall, not really doing anything. Just.. staring out infront of him. You've noticed that since that interaction on the balcony, he's been hanging around you more and more. He just sits next to you in silence, looking at you or the wall. In his own way, it's sort of sweet. You flip the page of the book you're reading, not noticing that Simon's turned to you. You're oblivious to it until he speaks up.
"Y/n." You perk up, looking at him. "Yeah?" you reply, not really expecting to get a conversation out of it. "Why do you do this?" He asks, and you pause. Have you done something wrong? "Sorry, what?" You mutter in confusion, with furrowed brows as you place the book aside. "Sit here. Tolerating my silence." He grunts out, sounding frustrated with himself. You raise a brow. Why in godsname would his silence be a problem? "What? Why wouldn't I tolerate your silence?" You mumble out, shifting to turn to him completely.
Simon lets out a faint breath, looking back at the wall, then at you. "You could be hangin' around someone else, you know. Makin' conversation." He mutters. You huff. "I don't want conversation. I'm fine with you and your broody silence." Your sentence makes him frown, it seems, although it's hard to read him with the balaclava on. "You're a lonely piece of shit." Simon mumbles, but you notice he looks a little more relaxed in his seat now. "Says you." You shoot back. Silence falls over the two of you, like usual. It's been a good amount of time, and you're sucked back into your book when you hear him talk again.
"You really don't mind?"
He almost sounds a little nervous, and it makes you smile slightly. "No, I really don't. I enjoy your presence, silent or not." You reply, and to that he simply nods. However, the way he positions himself just a little closer to you on the sofa lets you know that it means a lot more to him that he lets on.

hi! Just wanted to ask what you’ve been reading lately? I love seeing your book recs! Also what are some of your favorite books ?
Hi :) I've read some disappointing stuff lately, so I decided to start two books from my to-read list that felt like safe bets—Samantha Shannon's A Day of Fallen Night and Elsa Morante's Lies and Sorcery. I'm enjoying both so far!
I've read interesting nonfiction this year—Empire of Pain, about the Sackler family; Erich Schwartzel's Red Carpet about the role of the movie business in cultural hegemony; and Laure Hillerin's biography of the Countess Greffulhe, who was a fascinating woman. She was the real-life model behind Proust's Duchess de Guermantes character, and a really influential figure in the arts & sciences in the early 1900s—she financed the first productions of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, frequented Rodin's studio, helped Marie Curie find the funds to start her Radium Institute... It was a good read. I also read a biography of Anne Perry by Peter Graham, which was so-so—the story of the murder is morbidly fascinating but the way it was told had too many trivial details and not enough depth.
Worst nonfiction books of the year so far were Niall Ferguson's Doom: The Politics of Catastrophe which didn't seem to have any point to make, and François-Guillaume Lorrain's Scarlett which was marketed as a fascinating new look into the making of Gone With the Wind but actually the author just watched his DVD's behind-the-scenes bonus content and diluted it into 300+ pages of rehashed anecdotes, it was so pointless. I found it on the "Vos libraires vous recommandent !" shelf and now I feel betrayed by that bookshop.
As for fiction, I've enjoyed Ira Levin's A Kiss Before Dying, it felt very dated in a fun way, everything about it felt intensely 1950s. Was very disappointed by Silvia Avallone's Acciaio, I'd heard good things about it but it was so joyless and meh. Álvaro Enrigue's Ahora me rindo y eso es todo was a bit disappointing in the second half, but the first half was good so I'll try other books of his. Pierre Lemaitre's Miroir de nos peines was fun in an expected way—I mean those who enjoyed the beginning of his Au revoir là-haut trilogy will enjoy this one too as it's more of the same. And I also had a good time reading Catherynne Valente's Radiance— similarly if you already like her writing style you'll probably enjoy this book. (I was listening to this as I read it and it fit really well with the floaty-nostalgic-unearthly atmosphere of the book, it's always nice to accidentally find a good book-soundtrack that enhances the experience! Now I can never listen to it while reading again as it's too intertwined with that story.)
And I really liked Madame de Staël's Delphine but I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, it's very 18th century (though it's from 1802). If you enjoy idle noblewomen writing each other 20-page-long letters in gorgeously long-winded 18th-century prose about how the Viscount of Something glanced at them from the other end of a salon and nothing else happened and now they're having agonies then you'll love this book, it's 900 pages of this. I can't get enough of it personally, and I found it hilarious that these aristocrats had such low-stakes problems considering the story starts in 1790. They didn't notice the Revolution, they were too busy writing tormented letters about extramarital glances.
Some books I've added to my kindle recently: Virginia Feito's Mrs. March, Simon Schama's Landscape & Memory (someone I follow on GR described it as "monstrously bloated" while the NYT blurb diplomatically calls it "a work of enormous scope" which made me laugh), Seyhmus Dagtekin's To the Spring, by Night, Margarita Liberaki's Three Summers, Maggie O'Farrell's The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, Dawn Powell's A Time to Be Born.
This got long, sorry! You can have a look at my 5- and 4.5 star shelves on goodreads, for some of my favourite books of the past few years :)

Under the stars- Theodore Nott
Tumblr media
Sixth year at Hogwarts
Theodore Nott had always been a quiet young man, with a calm and reserved demeanor. He could count with one hand the number of friends he had made since entering Hogwarts. That detail didn't bother him; on the contrary, it had spared him from bad times and unnecessary enmities. His life was serene and somewhat monotonous, but he was content with that. After all, it was better than being at home with a father who never seemed pleased with what the young man did and the longing for a mother lost at an early age.
(Y/N) Greenwood lived to meet the expectations of the parents who had given her a home when no one else did. Always with the mindset of owing them everything she had achieved in her 16 years of life, and she had no plans to disappoint them in the slightest. From being sorted into Slytherin house, to being a polite and refined young lady, and showing disdain for those who weren't pure-blooded. It didn't matter if she agreed with it or not; it was the least she could do to show gratitude to her parents.
One night, while the rest of the Slytherin house students rested, Theodore and (Y/N) found themselves in the common room. Each in their own world. However, that very night, the two found a mutual interest that rested entirely on the power of a book that seemed uninteresting to others but captivating enough for them. What started with polite greetings in the common room, or the Great Hall, progressed to them sitting together in some classes. Later on, they became study or reading partners when they wished, and not long after, they found themselves spending time alone when there wasn't any other excuse to be together. That good friendship slowly transformed into affection, and that affection grew into love. Genuine and mutual love.
Theodore felt appreciated, just as when his mother was still alive, and his father became someone he faintly thought off. (Y/N) didn't have the pressure to pretend to be something she wasn't, she was simply herself. With her imperfections, her interest in the unknown, and her clumsiness. And Theodore accepted each of those things without a word of complaint.
Everything seemed perfect, and to a certain extent, it was. That was until the plans of a greater power interfered with the happiness of the young couple. Both were forced to serve Lord Voldemort even when they didn't support the cause. However, they yielded to the pleas and threats of their parents, who were loyal to the Dark Lord. Moments of tranquility ceased to exist, and the pressure on both young individuals to fulfill what had been imposed upon them was reflected in their lack of sleep, their little concentration in classes, and continuous paranoia. Yet, they still had each other, and sometimes that was enough.
Nights in the Astronomy Tower was a spectacle worthy of silent appreciation. The stars seemed to move to the Earth's rhythm, and the moon shone upon the two who layed against one of the arches in silence. Theodore's thoughts had drifted to a possible future that now seemed impossible, while the girl he loved remained lying on his chest, gazing attentively at the starry sky above them. The young man sighed and gently slid his hand down (Y/N)'s arm before planting a kiss on her head.
—(Y/N)... —
—Yes? — She didn't take her eyes off the sky, even though she was paying attention to what her boyfriend was about to say. —
—Do you think we would have had any chance to escape from all this? You know... For things to be different. —
(Y/N) takes a few seconds to respond and when she does, she simply shakes her head.
—I don't think so...— She adds after a moment. —We're too afraid. And if we had, we'd probably be dead. — Theodore clenches his jaw at the mere thought of losing her. He had already lost enough in this life.
—I'm sorry things are like this... You don't deserve any of this. I wish I could do more. — He murmurs, intertwining his hand with hers, who smiles bitterly and squeezes Theodore's hand.
—We're in the same position, Theo. There's nothing we can do... I just want you to promise me something. —
—What? — She lifts her face to look him in the eyes, and he smiles slightly, watching her intently.—
—Stay alive. — The girl whispers, brushing her lips against Theodore's. —I know it might sound selfish, but I don't care about anything else, Theodore. I know how things will be, and I know what we're facing. I can't even bear the thought of losing you because then none of this will be worth it. So please, promise me you'll do whatever it takes to stay alive. — Theodore remains silent for a while, just gazing intently at (Y/N)'s face. He places a gentle kiss on his girl's lips before nodding.
—Only if you promise me the same thing. I don't know what the hell will happen in the future, I don't even know if it'll be worth being in it. But maybe, just maybe, we'll have a chance to start from scratch. And I don't want to do that without you... So please, stay alive. —
The girl smiles slightly and nods, just as he had, gently caressing the boy's cheek before joining her lips with his. This time, the kiss was prolonged and filled with feelings and words too strong to be expressed with mere sentences. Their lips seemed made for each other, always syncing effortlessly and with so much love it seemed impossible. And right at that moment, even if it was just for a few seconds, everything seemed okay, like it used to be.
—I love you...— (Y/N) whispers as she breaks the kiss, her face inches away from Theodore's.
—I love you more. —

Lock can we get some Levi content please 🙏🏻
Tumblr media
anything for my short king 🙌 here is a lil thingy for him
Tumblr media
Reading is a leisurely pastime you haven't been able to partake in for what feels like ages. Letters, reports, maps, and the occasional newspaper made up the majority of your literary adventures. Utterly captivating as those options were, you longed to submerge yourself in fiction, a temporary reprieve from the tumultuous world you inhabit.
Members of the Survey Corps travel light, as the same suggests. You were essentially a nomadic people by how frequently you moved around. Books weren't considered essential enough to pack. That's why what you hold in your hands is so precious, a treasure to be cherished.
Presently, the lovestruck heroine is fleeing from the mysterious bachelor's home, a misunderstanding spurring her on. The author details her emotional turmoil, how her very heart is splitting in two—
—And then a pair of fingers snap in front of your face.
Indignant at the interruption, you lift your head, narrowing your eyes while you do so. Whoever had the audacity to interrupt your few minutes of free time could expect an unholy scolding. Your lips part, vitriol brimming on your tongue, until you make eye contact with steely blue eyes.
"Oh, Captain."
You give lackluster a salute that would've earned a punishment of infinite laps back in your trainee days.
Levi speaks your name with the same dry tone you used moments prior. "Sorry, am I interrupting something?"
You think to comment that he doesn't look very sorry but decide against it.
"... No."
"No?"
Slowly, you nod.
"It must be important, for you to do such a half-assed job and rush through your cleaning," he gives the book a disinterested glance. "Care to give a synopsis? I'm sure it's riveting."
Recalling the nature of the novel, your face warms, and you shut it a little too fast.
"Uh, it's, well, y'know one of those difficult to describe books."
"Maybe you should read a dictionary next so you have the words to properly explain it."
"Oh, great suggestion, hey—!"
He snatches it from your possession in the blink of an eye. You make one attempt to grab it back, but his seemingly supernatural senses stave off the attack. Wallowing in defeat, you sit back down, folding your arms across your chest and sighing over what is to come.
Levi's eyes scan the page you were at. His indifferent veneer fades away slightly and the corner of his lips twitches upward.
"So," the word hangs heavy in the air, the sadistic bastard taking his sweet time before saying anything else, "Do you think she should go back to him or not?"
You sink your head into your hands. "Definitely not. Anyone who taunts their partner when they're at their lowest is unforgivable."
"Mhm."
"Pure evil. The worst of the worst."
"Certainly," he deadpans. He places the book by your side, briefly assesses the area, then returns his attention to you. Assured that you're the only souls around, he leans over, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. Coarse fingers brush against your cheekbone as he retracts his hand. "Finish the chapter of your shitty book then redo the windows. I could see the streaks from a mile away."
You give him your sweetest expression.
"How about two chapters, my most benevolent Captain, who adores me so?"
"... It's down to two pages, since you decided to push it."
His lack of objection to the latter part of your sentence assuages any disappointment you could've possibly felt.

ehem, if I may humbly do so,
I wanna request a fluffy Childe and zhongli (poly if possible, but separate is fine too) where their s/o is overworked and hasn't been seeing both of them for a while and they get clingy and devise several methods to cling to their s/o and get them to stop working
basically clingy! childe and zhongli
author's note: Hiya, thanks for your request! I'm not super good at writing poly, so I did write them separately (hope that's okay <3) my second time writing zhongli, so I hope I wrote him okay (´ . .̫ . `) enjoy :)
content notes; gn!reader, bullet format, lowercase for bullets
Tumblr media
CHILDE ♡
work, work, it always seemed to separate you and childe
especially childe with his work in the fatui and all
it always felt like he was working
but one day, by some miracle, childe found himself with free time
yet, you were working away in your home office
now, he finally understood how you felt whenever he was sent away for work or was too drowned in paperwork to spend time with you
he felt like a kicked puppy when you first turned him away from your office
'you'll distract me too much' you had said
distract? childe would never (yes he would)
what was his solution?
sitting outside your office door until you let him
every single time you opened the door, there he was, plopped on the ground reading a book or fiddling with his bow
he could take it, he could handle you trapping yourself in your room without letting him inside
yup, he's fine! it was just a test of his patience, which was finished sooner than you could finish your work
"Honey, I brought you a snack!" Here he comes again. You appreciate Childe, very much, but not when he keeps popping into your room while you're trying to finish work.
You watch as he puts a warm plate of food in front of you with a big smile on his face.
"Oh, thank you. You didn't have to.."
There was silence. Was he just going to stand there? Despite having his eyes closed due to his big smile, you felt him staring you down. What did he want? He leaned in a bit closer with that smile that was, honestly, freaking you out a bit.
"So... Do you need something else? I've really got to get back to work."
"Can't your loving boyfriend stare at his amazing partner without reason?" Childe opens up his eyes and gives you a look. A look he gives you for a reason. He wants something and he definitely does not look like he's willing to negotiate. But, neither are you.
"I'm really sorry, but I need to get this finished as soon as possible. I promise once this is all done that I'm all yours, okay?"
There is a pause before Childe sighs. He actually gave in that easily? Now, that was a surprise. You were expecting him to put up more of a fight.
"Just one hug before you go back to work?" Childe asks, opening up his arms, "Please?"
You let out a sigh before letting him wrap his arms around you. You give his back a small pat before turning back to your desk. At least, that's what would have happened if Childe didn't have such a strong grip on you.
"Uh, Childe? I need to-"
"You can take a five minute break, dear. It'll be good to look at something else, something more handsome," Childe says, picking you up and carrying you away from your office.
"Childe! My work-"
"Can wait, but I can't."
ZHONGLI ♡
now, zhongli is more understanding and patient
you have an important assignment from work? that's alright. he'll leave you be so you can concentrate
unlike childe, zhongli spends his time doing other things rather than waiting for you like a sad puppy
he reads, does some of his own work, or sips some tea
now, this is all just a facade.
at first, yes, he was adamant on letting you work in peace
however, as time continued to pass, he found himself passing by your room and checking in more and more
and he didn't even realize he was doing it at first
he needs a book to read. oh, what a coincidence! your room is right next to where he stores his books, so he should check in
he forgot something in your room. oh, well, he better head over and grab it and check in while he's at it
he found a beautiful flower. it reminds him of you. he should give it to you and check in on you
the tea he brewed tastes divine! he should bring you some and check in on you
"Um, Zhongli?"
"Yes, my dear?"
"I don't think I can fit anything else on my table.."
Zhongli looks over at your desk and notices the stacked tea cups and plates in the corner.
"Ah, apologies. I hadn't noticed how much I had brought you." Zhongli leans over you and grabs the tea cups and plates. He places the warm cup of tea down in their place. You thank him and sip on the tea.
"Dear?"
"Yes?"
You place the tea cup on the table and look up at him. He has a warm smile on his face as he looks at you.
"I hope it isn't too much to ask, but would you mind taking a small break?"
"Ah, I don't think I can.. I really want to finish this soon.."
Zhongli extends his hand to cup your chin. He takes some time to observe you before sighing.
"My dear, breaks are essential in not burning yourself out. A small one would do wonders for you and I bet it would help you feel more productive once you take it. However, if you do not wish to, I will not force you."
The way he looks at you, the soft, calming way he speaks... It all makes it harder to say no to him. A break sounded nice. You had been staring at your papers all day and your hand kinda hurts from writing so much.
"Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt, but it has to be a short break."
"Of course."
Zhongli helps you to your feet and leads you out of your room. You could've sworn you saw his smile become a bit brighter when he led you away.

I’ve arrived with more horny william brain rot!
There is little doubt in my mind that our favorite afton to slut up likes to read. He’d probably love to share that with his darling bunny. And you absolutely know that man is making the polaroids he took into bookmarks. He just loves to see his bunny everywhere!
Bunny is in fact a college student, and sometimes certain classes end up requiring/give the option for a field trip. And that trip happens to fall on a weekend. They’re a little bummed, Willy is like actually depressed (lol), so bunny decided to hide a little something for him. As a ✨treat✨
So when afton wakes up Saturday, he reaches over for his book to read a little (because what else is there to do when his little rabbit is gone), and his usually bookmark feels a lot more lumpy than usual. So he opens it and what does he find? Polaroids of his precious, lovely bunny in nothing but his shirt, and a pair of her panties 💜
YEAH i uhhh,,
warnings: age-gap relationship (reader is 20 will is almost 40 yall know the drill), swearing, smoking, drinking, dom/sub undertones, sir kink, not proof read AGAIN IM SRY
"What? What do you mean the whole weekend?"
It had been an especially hard week for the brit at his diner. For one reason or another, it seemed as if nearly every single damn brat in that town just had to have a birthday that week. The diner was booked from start to finish every day of the week. William was frustrated. But every day drew him closer to the weekend. Closer to when he'd be able to see you again. And god did he fucking miss you. He missed his little bunny next to him; kissing them, holding them. Coming up with so many fun activities to show you.
But, it was in the past now. It was Friday. You'd be over tomorrow, and help relieve him of his pent-up stress like the good bunny you were.
Right?
Wrong.
"I knowwww, I'm sorry!" You pleaded with him at the other end of the phone, the older man taking a long, drawn out puff of his cigarette, "I just totally forgot about it until today!"
William sighed as he rubbed the bridge of his nose, leaning against the wall, "And you're certain you have to go, love?"
"Yeah..." you sighed back, "It's required for my major. And I already rescheduled it last month, too. I can't do it again or I fail."
"Bunny, the weekends are our time together. You know this."
"I knoww, and I'm sorry! I'd stay behind if I could but I just can't. I'm sorry, Will. I'll be back for next weekend though!"
William took another puff of his cigarette, "Are you certain you can't come over even for a little? I... I miss you, bunny. It's been a tough week, and... I want you."
You let out a sympathetic hum, "I miss you too. But I have to go. I'm sorry."
"Alright." William sighed, "Fine. But don't expect to get off the hook next time I see you, little one. You need to tell me these things sooner rather than later."
The brit heard you giggle over the phone, "It'll be fine, Will. Surely you can survive two weeks without me."
"Getting smart with me now, hm?"
"No, sir."
William let out a pleased hum, "Good bunny. I'll miss you, okay? Have fun for me, alright? I'll be here waiting for you."
"I will, I will... Hey, before I forget; you remember that book you gave me, right? The old, thick and dusty one?"
"It's not old, love. It's classic."
You giggled again, "Classic, sure. Well, I finished it. I'll leave it in your mailbox before I go. Maybe that'll keep you occupied until I get back."
"Nothing could replace your company, little one. But, thank you. That's very kind."
"It's no problem. I gotta go pack now, Will. I'm sorry again. I'll see you next saturday, okay?"
"...Alright, bunny. Have fun. I love you."
"Love you too."
~~~
It was odd to have an empty house on the weekends. While William was used to Michael being away at his mother's, the house felt more depressing than usual without you in it. Dull. Grey. No life whatsoever.
William didn't drink often, not at all. He never found it to be that classy, and he wasn't about to throw his charm to the wind over alcohol. But god fucking damn it. He missed you so fucking much that Saturday afternoon. His cigarettes weren't having their usual kick to them. He needed something stronger to fill the void where you should be.
Pouring his second glass of whiskey for the evening, he couldn't help but wonder how you were. Your college was taking you an entire state away from him. Those fucking bastards. How dare they drag you so far away from him. What if you got hurt? Or in trouble? And he wasn't there to save his precious bunny? You knew his number, sure, but you were still so fucking far away from him. And a lot can happen so many miles away.
William took a large swig of the alcohol.
Fucking hell. He missed you so damn much.
He knew you didn't mean to tell him about the trip so late. You were a good bunny. Hell, he was the entire reason you didn't go when you were supposed to. He vaguely remembered convincing you to stay in town the first time you told him about it. You had just forgotten this time, surely. He couldn't stay mad at you for that. It was hard for him to stay mad at you in general. You were just too cute.
But William was miserable. He didn't want this shit to happen again. You would need to learn your lesson. And he'd make you learn it next time you were over.
But would he? Thinking of it now, it was hard for him to imagine giving you any sort of punishment. He just wanted you close to him. To pull you in his lap and kiss those sweet lips of yours. Hold you close to him. Lie down on his chest while he read his books before bed.
Oh, yes. That's right. The book he leant you. You said you'd give it back before you left.
Maybe he should take your advice. Use it to get his mind off you.
Finishing up his glass, William finished up his glass before he walked to the front door, opening and shutting it behind him as he made his way to the mailbox. The cool breeze of the sunset blew his neatly-combed hair out of place, washing over his pale skin. Upon opening up his mailbox, sure enough. The book he leant you was in there. But, it was... strange. Looked a lot fatter than normal.
The older man reached in and took the book out, brow furrowing in slight confusion. Leaning against the mailbox to shut it, the brit opened up the pages to see inside.
...
Oh.
William could feel the heat creep down his neck and cheeks.
Oh.
Oh, bunny. Sweet bunny.
Strewn about the pages was a handful of polaroid pictures. Pictures of you. In so many different positions... so many. He could see the plushness of your thighs. Your sweet little smile. Those big, gorgeous doe eyes. Your cute little pair of underwear...
You even still had some of the marks he'd given you last time you were over. And was that his dress shirt? It certainly was. How long have you had that, little one? Why, sir barely noticed that it was gone. Stealing his things now, are we? Naughty bunny.
You've been so bad recently, haven't you? William didn't much appreciate that. You had earned yourself a punishment, bunny. You probably know that just as sir does though, don't you? Was this your attempt at getting out of it?
William calmly shut the book, but quickly walked back into his house.
It worked, bunny.
For now.
I made a comment a while ago about a JayTim Tailor AU, and then the brainworms wouldn't stop so now I've actually written it.
Disclaimer that I'm super new to the fandom so this is my first time writing for it, and I also written one little fanfic in the past 3 years for a different fandom so I am Rusty and they're probably very OOC lol.
--
Tailor’s shops, Tim had found, were rather soothing places. Quiet and smelling faintly of amber and cedar. His chosen shop was an octagonal room lined with built-in shelves and racks of suits and armoires of darkly stained mahogany. A table in the centre of the room housed a swatch book of different types of wool and lining silks that Tim liked to flip through just to feel the delicately woven fabrics.
On one side of the shop window, there was a mannequin dressed in a half-finished suit, one side left without the facing so onlookers could see the canvas and careful stitching that gave the suit its structure. On the other there was an old treadle sewing machine, though Tim doubted it was still functional. Nevertheless it helped add to the timeless sort of atmosphere of the shop, something that felt so far removed from all the computers and cold artificial displays Tim usually worked with.
He’d been coming to this tailor for a few years now. Bruce had recommended him, and Tim had been coming ever since. There was something calming about the familiarity. Coming in and greeting the salesman who recommended a few suits for him to try on, settling on one that he thought looked best before the salesperson called the tailor out to him. It was always the same tailor, an elderly man with small, quick hands and soft eyes by the name of Lucius Fox.
Tim waited for him now, dressed in a neat blue suit the salesperson had chosen off the rack for Tim. The shop did offer entirely bespoke suits, but Tim had always found that to be much more elaborate than he felt he needed. As long as he looked neat and presentable, it worked for him.
He flipped through that fabric swatch book, tracing fingertips along the pinked edges of soft blue wool and reading the sticker on the back of the previous swatch as though he had any idea what any of it meant. Camel hair, it said. Tim didn’t think the fur of a camel would be particularly soft or good for suitmaking but evidently he was wrong.
“Mr. Drake?” Called a voice from the door to the tailor’s workshop itself, a voice lower and smoother than Tim had been expecting.
Tim looked up to see a man walking towards him, tall and broad with a streak of white through dark hair, a ruler and chalk in one hand and a pincushion secured to the other wrist with a band of black elastic. He’d forgone the jacket of his three-piece suit, the sleeves of his dress shirt neatly rolled up to his elbows, a tape measure draped around his neck. The suit was fitted just enough to display a figure far sturdier than Tim would’ve expected for a tailor, just hints of a broad chest and arms that filled out the sleeves far better than most.
His face was just as chiselled, with sharp green eyes that seemed to shimmer with amusement, the corner of his mouth turning up just slightly.
It took Tim far too long to realise he’d been staring, and he quite quickly flicked his eyes back down to the book before him, feeling warmth rise on his cheeks. “Yes, that’s- uhm.” He cleared his throat. “That’s me.” He looked back up at the Tailor. “Sorry, I just was expecting someone… else.”
The Tailor smiled in something between understanding and amusement. “Yes, Mr. Fox is out for the week so he’s left me to handle the shop. I’ll be taking care of you today.” The blush rose higher on Tim’s cheeks, and if he didn’t know better he’d assume the Tailor was doing that on purpose, with that honeyed voice of his and those smoothly spoken words. “My name is Jason.”
“Tim,” he answered, picking at the band of his watch.
“A pleasure to meet you, Tim,” answered Jason, and Tim was almost irritated at how well such a simple and common name rolled off Jason’s tongue. Jason gestured towards the pedestal in front of the three-way mirror, a platform just a little bit above the ground that made fittings easier, evidently. “Stand up there and face the mirror,” said Jason, tone polite and professional despite the command.
Tim nodded, trying not to follow Jason’s order too quickly and trying even harder not to fidget. He’d gotten better at it over the years. At his first fitting, Mr. Fox had smacked him upside the head with a ruler and told him to sit still. Now though, he had a feeling he’d find it just as difficult to behave as he had back then.
Jason came to stand close behind Tim, and it was with another small amount of irritation that Tim noticed even atop the pedestal, Jason was still slightly taller than him. “Tell me a little more about how you like your suits to fit.” His voice was softer now that they stood closer together, a gentle sound rather close to Tim’s ear. Tim couldn’t tell if he could feel the body heat radiating off of Jason, or if it was his own body that was warming up.
“Well… I’m not really sure I have much of a preference. Mr. Fox just fixed whatever he thought looked bad.” Tim wasn’t particularly meticulous when it came to fashion.
Jason hummed in understanding, stepping back just slightly to sweep his eyes over Tim, analysing the way the suit fit him with a careful, sharp stare. “Well, Mr. Fox is very good at what he does, but between you and I? He's also ancient and tends to prefer older, boxier styles, which I don’t think particularly suit you.” Tim felt rather like a blank canvas, where Jason could see the vision of the finished piece and Tim couldn’t. “You have a much narrower waist than most of the men I see. I think you’d look far better in something that showed that off a little more.”
Tim tugged at the hem of the jacket, trying to see what it was that Jason saw, but as far as he was concerned a suit was a suit and as long as it fit he wasn’t sure the cut of it made much of a difference. It was something to wear to a formal event and want to take off as soon as he got home. As far as he knew, the one he had on already fit fairly well for the most part.
“Here, I’ll show you what I mean and you can see what you think,” Jason continued, stepping closer to Tim again, standing right behind him so that in the mirror he could see his own silhouette overshadowed by Jason’s. Jason stroked gentle fingers up Tim’s spine, a featherlight touch to smooth out the wrinkle at the base of his neck. Tim suppressed a shiver as Jason leaned in close to place a pin to mark where the extra fabric near the collar needed to be taken in.
“Generally, off the rack suits were designed to fit men with far worse posture than you,” Jason explained, moving on to pin the sides of the suit. He sounded… appreciative, nearly praising despite the aforementioned posture making more work for him.
Tim could definitely feel his body heat now, attention narrowed down to where he could feel the delicate brush of skilled fingers along his waist, sliding a pin through the fabric with ease and precision Tim wouldn’t have associated with larger, stronger hands, far less wrinkled than Mr. Fox.
Tim could feel the warmth of Jason’s breath, could see him leaning in close in the reflection of the mirror. Now that Jason wasn’t looking at Tim’s face, Tim couldn’t help but stare at Jason’s, at the piercing, intense gaze, careful and precise in his work. He was much younger than Tim assumed most tailors were, likely only a few years older than Tim himself.
Jason moved to the other side, momentarily placing a hand on Tim’s waist to pull away the fabric needed. Tim wondered what he was thinking, so focused and diligent, fingers so much more skilled than Tim would’ve expected. It was an art, really, and there was beauty in simply watching the way Jason worked, in feeling each gentle brush of fingertips along the fabric, light and delicate and telling of so much skill in those hands. Some part within Tim desperately wanted to ask for more, for a taste of what those feathery sweeping touches promised.
“How does that feel?” Tim snapped his eyes away from Jason’s face and back to his own reflection, reminded quite quickly that Jason was a professional only doing his job and Tim desperately needed to get it together. Jason was reminding Tim that he desperately needed a few things.
“Uh… what?” Tim asked, feeling suddenly rather silly and realising he hadn’t been paying any attention at all to any of the things he was supposed to be paying attention to.
Fortunately, instead of the irritation Tim had been expecting, Jason simply laughed, a low chuckle rumbling in his throat. “The suit. Does it feel too tight? Too loose?” Oh- right. That was why Tim was here.
He looked at his silhouette in the mirror again, this time actually looking at himself instead of at Jason, and found he quite immediately knew what Jason had been talking about before. More than just fitting him better, Tim felt like he looked more… like himself. Not someone putting on a costume to go play the character of some high-society heir. He looked… really good, and good in a way he hadn’t expected to see in himself.
“Well?” Jason asked, smirk tugging at his lips again. “You seem quite easy to leave speechless, but I would appreciate at least some feedback.”
“Oh- sorry. It feels good. Thank you,” Tim answered, looking back at Jason in time to see his satisfied smile.
“Good,” said Jason, stepping closer again. “Now for the sleeves, I think they’re a little long for you, hmm?”
Tim nodded, knowing at least that much needed to be fixed. The hem of the sleeve was barely above his knuckles. Jason leaned in, left shoulder brushing Tim’s right as he slid one hand past Tim’s hip, one hand on either side of Tim’s.
Tim’s breath hitched, trying to calm the way his heart raced at their proximity. He knew this was part of the fitting, that this was the easiest way for a tailor to roll up his sleeve. Mr. Fox had done it too, but when Jason touched him, it was… different. No- Jason was just doing his job. He was a professional, Tim shouldn’t be thinking these things.
Jason’s index finger brushed Tim’s palm as he started to roll the sleeve up, tucking the excess fabric inward so it looked more like what the finished product might be. He slid two fingers beneath the sleeve to help smooth out the folded edge, the backs of them brushing along the sensitive skin of Tim’s wrist. Tim would be surprised if Jason couldn’t feel his racing heartbeat like this, but if he did, he didn’t say anything of it, simply curling his fingers and bringing them down slightly to bring the sleeve down just a little.
“How’s that?” Jason asked, voice hardly above a whisper now that he was practically speaking in Tim’s ear, their faces only a few inches apart. He slid his fingers out of the sleeve, pulling away again so Tim could examine the length for himself.
“Yeah,” Tim answered breathlessly. “Yeah, I like that.” He realised now that Jason had pulled away, he very nearly felt cold. But at least the distance gave Tim room to catch his breath and chase away those creeping thoughts.
Then, Jason stepped in front of Tim, between him and the mirror, and Tims heart stuttered in his chest. Tim had nearly forgotten about how Tailors marked the second sleeve, and he was swiftly reminded when Jason dropped to his knees in front of him.
Tim immediately held his breath, staring directly forward and absolutely refusing to look down.
“You know, I can’t do this if you don’t relax,” Jason teased. It was then that Tim realised he’d balled his hands into fists, and then that he knew that Jason definitely knew what he was doing. He released the breath he’d been holding, unclenching his fists and relaxing his arms at his sides.
Jason hummed in satisfaction, and Tim felt that gentle brush of warm fingers against his own as Jason held the ruler up to measure the new length of the sleeve from the tip of his thumb, sliding a pin into place before repeating the process with the other sleeve. Tim was trying not to tremble, trying to ignore what he could see of Jason in his peripheral vision, trying not to wonder what it might be like if he used that tape measure for something other than its intended purpose.
Finally, Jason stood again, face so close to Tim’s that Tim could make out the different shades of green and blue in his eyes.
“Wonderful,” he said. “Now, if you’d please remove the jacket, it’s time to mark the pants.”
Tim was going to die in this tailor’s shop.
Ok actually I didn't have to think long, lol.
What would your ideal first date with Mikey (aka our favorite Irish mob daddy) consist of??? 👀
I am really really REALLY sorry it took me (5) months to finish this piece, a lot of stuff was going on (my life was a complete mess, still tho). But since it's Valentine's day, I HAD to post something, and what's better than a date with Mikey for a Valentine's gift?
Something else I had to say, is that I had no idea how to write HCs—which is the vibe that I got from your ask (hehe), so, I improvised, and made up a whole story of what would your first date with Mikey would be (with a back story as well).
That being said, let's jump right into the act! And thank you, thank you, thank you, so much, for submitting this request and for your patience, please enjoy! 💖💖💖
It's Always Raining In Dublin (M.K)
Tumblr media
Requested by @loveroftoomanyfandoms
Pairing and dynamic: Michael Kinsella x female!reader (reader is a bookshop owner), strangers to friends (?) to lovers
Prompt: fluff, first date goes wrong but then perfect, rain, rain, and more rain.
Word Count: 4.3k!
Writer's note: this was supposed to be finished back in September, which was five months ago, but I was struggling for a while with both a terrible writer's block and life and then BOOM I got the inspiration to finish it. Also, this is the very first time I ever write anything for Michael, so I'm a little nervous, I hope it's good enough though.
(I proofread this almost a thousand times WITH my bestie as well, so if there's anything wrong with the grammar and/or the lexical content, we were really exhausted and couldn't see shit—we're sorry T-T).
Tumblr media
It was a rainy morning when you truly met him, it rained almost everyday in Dublin but that day was a core memory. You had just unlocked the door of your little bookshop and started to sort things out before your costumers arrive.
Usually, your first client doesn't show up before nine-thirty in the morning, which gives you spare time to dust off the shelves and pick up a big cup of coffee from the nearby coffeeshop down the street—in this never-ending autumn.
That morning was no different. It was pouring heavily but you're used to opening your shop on rainy days, it's always raining in Dublin anyway, and if you had to take each rainy day off—you'd end up with a couple of fingers on your hands as you count the days you worked on per year.
You were organizing the children's books section when you heard the sweet chime of the little bell hanging on your front door. It was barely eight and you happened to just finished your coffee and breakfast, getting ready to start your day. But it began earlier than you expected it to.
Your costumer was a man, you assumed he was in his early forties, maybe for the dark thick beard that covers most of his face. His face was strangely familiar to you, you just couldn't exactly remember when it was when you saw him.
But you're sure that this was the prettiest face of a man you've seen in a while. His greenish hazel brown eyes sparkled like a kaleidoscope with a hint of an exquisite permanent-sadness, and his flushed skin and dampened hair glistened due to the torrent outside.
You felt your breath stuck in your throat for a moment before you could clear it to speak.
"good morning, sir, how may I help ya today?" you faced him fully and your skirt swirled—following your motion with a swoosh in the air, you catch him glance down at it for a second before returning his eyes on you.
"I... The book ye suggested ta me the other day..." he starts gently and the memory comes back rushing immediately. You remember that warm tone, you had indeed met this gentleman before.
A week ago, he came over to your shop and you recall how lost he was in his search for the perfect book to read. And you, being a bookworm, and also the owner of this little corner bookshop— you had to help him. You gave him a suggestion for a book out of his box—out of his comfort readings.
And from the gentle look on his face, you suppose that he liked it.
"I'was grand," the man smiles softly and the corners of his eyes crinkle a little, you find yourself grinning back at him.
"Ye finished it quickly!" you commented in excitement and he looked a bit puzzled, a smile softly drawn on his lips with a little crease of confusion. It was adorable.
"I mean—I'm glad t'was grand that ya finished it quickly." He lipped a silent "oh" before his cheeks burn red as he smiled and his eyes almost disappeared.
"Are ya here for another book?" you asked when the silence fell on the place, raindrops kept knocking on the glass front nonstop, music to your ears with this handsome man smiling and radiating joy to your eyes.
"Ye can say that..." his voice was quiet but you can hear it in this downpour noise, he tilted his head to the side and shrugged, and it was impossible for you to not aw at it.
"How about we go with somethin' even newer for today?" you suggested, he nods to the side with a little smile, you walk and he follows you down the aisle.
"Romance or crime and mystery?" you stop at the novels sections, "pride and prejudice, I guess ya must've heard of it before," you pick the book off the shelf, he gently takes it from your hand and examines the cover thoroughly with his amber eyes, and he looked so interested.
"Or, we can go with Agatha Christie's illustrious murder on the orient express," you take the book and hand it to him, "or... Take a whole new genre and check Mary Shelley's horror Frankenstein? It's one of me favorites," you hand him the third book after strolling down the aisle a little more.
The man looked puzzled now, he seemed interested in each one of these books. But you patiently wait for him to speak.
"Have ya made up yer mind yet, sir?" you ask.
He shrugged with a sigh, raising his brows high, "they all look grand— can't lie t'ye," he answered.
"They are— but I can make ya an offer, I'll give ya the three books with the price of one and a half—and in return, ye're gonna write me a review of each book to add to me list of reviews and suggestions here on me wall," you tilt your head to the side, eyeing his beautiful features and almost forgetting you were waiting for his answer.
"Tha' seems grand ta me," he chuckled.
"I'm glad it is!" you walk him back to the cashier check, you get back behind your computer to scan the books and add in the discount.
"That'll be 18.46 after the discount," you lean against the wooden surface with your arms supporting you up.
He nods and hands you the money. "There ya go--" you're about to hand him the change. He shook his head, "no, keep tha change, miss..." he cuts you off gently, looking down at the little pin with your name on it.
You tell him your name to catch his eyes back up and he nods with a little smile, "Michael." he says, only taking the receipt and the paper bag of books.
He turns and makes his way to the front door, "Michael?" you loved the sound of his name rolling off your tongue. He stops and turns with a puzzled face, "thanks fer the tip," he smiles and you can see the blush on his face a mile away. He leaves and you watch him take a turn to the right before he disappeared under the northern downpour.
The next week, Michael shows up at your shop's door on a Saturday afternoon, a big smile drawn on his face. You were dealing with a little kid trying to choose a book, you turn to see him and he immediately waves at you, a little sweet grin splits the darkness of his thick beard. "Ya can take the book now, pet, momma's gonna send me the money later, 'kay?" The two of you watch the little kid waddle out of the shop.
"Sorry t' interrupt yer work," he says as he crossed the distance between you. You shake your head, "at all, Michael. How was yer read? Which book did ya read first?" you asked, leaning against the shelves.
He smiled wider when you said his name, almost startled to speak. "Um, the-- the mystery one, murder on the orient express," he answered.
"And did ya like it?" you ask him again with enthusiasm and butterflies crowding your lungs. He rubs the back of his neck with a sigh and an apologetic smile. "Ya don't seem like ya liked it, did ya?" you chuckled.
He scrunched his nose and tilts his head to the side, "the ending was unexpected at all ta be honest with ya," he shrugs.
You nodded and hummed to his answer, "Christie is never expected, that's why we love her," he nods back.
You notice the two paper cups of coffee he held in his hand when the smell of freshly baked-and-brewed coffee beans hits your nostrils. You were so confused why you never noticed it before, maybe you were distracted by Michael's presence as a whole, or his always-glistened ambers if you were specific. Michael notices the confused smile on your face. "I— thought I should bring ye coffee, as a thank ya."
Your smile grows with a blush as he hands you a cup, "thank ya, Michael, that's truly sweet of ya," you coo, his face blushes and shyly drops his eyes to the ground.
The sky thunders and you nearly jumped out of your place, both of you stare at the other and you burst out laughing. "Did that scare ya off, pet?" Michael asked with a worried smile, you kept giggling.
"Not really but... It was... Unexpected?" you answer after taking a deep breath.
"Like Christie?" he chuckled, you burst out laughing.
"Like Christie."
The weeks turned into months and Michael began to show up more and more often, and you eagerly waited every morning to see his shiny hazel eyes and his beautiful smile, one that you keep daydreaming about until he steps into your shop with two hot cups of coffee.
He turned from a regular client—to be a resident of this little bookshop. Michael started to stay in with you and help you organizing and monitoring the place—he would even help the little kids in choosing their books, too.
Once, you found him sitting on the oak floor, the little boys and girls gathered and sat around him, while he narrated a children's book. Your heart melted at the sight, and luckily that wouldn't be the last time.
The kids would come into your shop asking you if uncle Michael was there to read for them; Michael was now a part of your place, and you're happy to have someone like him to keep your company.
One evening —after three months of seeing each other daily— when the sky was cloudy and the sunset light was becoming less visible. The weather broadcast had warned about an upcoming rainstorm tonight—so you had to call it a night and leave.
You made sure everything was in the right place and order before you left. You put your autumn coat on and stuff your phone inside your purse. You take the keys out and you make your way towards the exit. Michael was waiting for you by the front door. Both of you get out of the shop and you turn to lock it up.
Michael calls your name gently in a tone barely louder than a whisper before you head on your way home and it makes your stomach churn in the most beautiful way.
You turn to look at him, he's shifting in his place, hands stuffed inside his leather jacket pockets and face all flustered and burning red. "Can I walk ye home tonight? It's a lil' darker than usual, I'd be worried 'bout ye, pet," he asks, voice so desperate. Your heart skips a beat—but it comes back pounding.
Your smile doesn't leave your face and it starts to hurt your cheeks. "Sure thing, Michael, I'd love to," you nodded, he grins and his eyes crinkle and his orbits shine.
The sky darkens but you could still see the perfect smile on Michael's face, little raindrops started sliding against your skins and it was a scene out of a painting, so magical and calm.
You make it to your place and you exchange goodbyes. You watched him walking down the concrete path and disappeared behind the brick wall.
You made your way to your doorstep, almost taking your keychain out when Michael calls out your name, you turn to face him, he's all soaked in water but his beautiful grin never left his face.
"Can I take ya out fer dinner tomorrow night?" your jaw dropped and your head screamed 'yes, yes, yes'.
"Yes! Yes, y'can, Michael!" you could barely make out his silhouette as your grin almost shut your eyes. He's almost jumping in his place, he sighs with a big smile.
"I'll pick ya up tomorrow at seven, is that grand fer ya, pet?" he shouts.
"Of course, Mikey!" you shouted back.
You walked into the warmth of your house soaked and giggly, you ran upstairs straight to your bedroom to plan an outfit, you didn't care about messing up the carpet, you'd deal with that later.
You quickly made up your mind about a floral day dress you had bought recently and you recall thinking of Michael while buying this dress.
You guess he's going to love it, he usually complimented you when you wore dresses and let your hair down and that's what you're going to do.
You took the next Sunday morning off as you started to prepare yourself for the date, pampering yourself with all the skin and hair care products you can find in your house.
You wanted to look perfect for him.
You felt overwhelmed with happiness, making up the scenarios of your evening. Where will he take you out? Is it a fancy restaurant or a local diner? What would he bring you? Flowers definitely, he's a flower-gifting man, as you realized, it was definitely his way of showing affection. He brought flowers every couple days for the shop.
Now it's nearing seven and you happened to just finished your look. You put on your dress and you fix your hair, adding a little floral accessory to the side of your braided bangs. You looked stunning, you hoped that you'd give the same impression to Michael.
The doorbell rings as you slipped into your heels, you look at your mirror for the very last time tonight before opening the door. He looked so fine though he wore his shirt and trousers casually with his leather jacket. You could kiss him already.
His eyes stayed fixed on yours for a brief moment before he exhaled with a stunned smile. "Y—ya look magical, pet," he breathed out and it made you turn completely red.
"I tried me best..." you shyly drive your eyes away and tuck a stray strand back behind your ear.
"Y'don' even have ta try, love, ye're always lookin' good," he shyly says and you could see his cheeks prickling red as he drove his eyes down to his shoes.
"I um... Brought ya these," he revealed a bouquet from behind his back, it was of red roses. It matched your dress perfectly. His head tilted to the side with a smile as he handed it to you.
"They're so wonderful, Mikey, loved them, thank ya," you take the bundle. "Ya look great too, Mikey, loved yer shirt," you had to compliment him, he deserved it.
His face reddened beneath his beard, "thanks, love."
"Ye're ready, aren't ya, love?" he asked with a smile.
"I am, let me get me purse and coat first—"
He shook his head, "take yer time, pet," he countered.
You turn behind the door and take your coat off the hanger. Sliding inside it, you take your purse, grab an umbrella and widen the little crevice of the door to pass outside.
Michael hesitantly held your hand but when he noticed how you instantly wrapped your palm around his—he intertwined his fingers with yours, with no plans on letting go.
You walked down to the main street where Michael tried to stop a taxi for the two of you. "We don't have to take it," you stopped him with a gentle hand on his back, he was a little confused, "I'd prefer walking with ya, Mikey," you explained yourself. A big smile breaks the darkness of his beard and you could swear he beams at you.
As you strolled down the concrete path, the sky thundered vigorously, the voice rumbled and echoed in the air, and it wasn't long before it started dropping tears upon the two of you.
You could see Michael's face turning dark, he cursed under his breath, you rubbed a pat onto his bicep, and pulled the umbrella over your heads, offering him a soft smile. He smiled back but you still felt how uneasy he was.
"It's okay, Mikey, I love walkin' in the rain," you comment, and that kinda eases the tension of his demeanor.
The walk is silent, and you could still feel him timid as you held his forearm, you know he can't control the weather, but you don't really mind if it's sunny or gloomy, as long as you are with Michael, it's all what matters to you.
The two of you made it to the restaurant, and Michael's face turned even darker. A sign on the glass door reads 'electricity outage, sorry for disturbing' was hung on the glass door. You turn to look at Michael, his eyes are glaring with fire.
The receptionist types something on his phone and sticks it to the glass, "it's coming back in a few minutes, we're working on the issue, we truly apologize for such occurrence... See, Mikey? We can wait a few more minutes," you smiled back at him, but Michael wasn't really buying it.
He gulped and closed his eyes, huffing out a stream of hot air. "It's okay, Mikey, we can go somewhere else if ya don' wanna wait..." you suggested.
He shook his head, "no, I booked us a table in there a week ago and I ain't takin' ya anywhere less than that!" he tried to remain calm but his tone was getting angrier, "I can't let this day go wrong like tha'!" he expressed, wiping his mouth and tugging onto his beard, something you noticed he does whenever he feels tensed.
You rubbed his bicep and squeezed it a little, your hand unconsciously walk up to his face and you scratch his thick beard. He smiles a little, but his eyes are glistened with tears like glass balls.
Things weren't going his way, for years and years, and today he wished he could finally do something he wanted. You didn't mind if you got the chance to dine at the restaurant or took your date home, what you only cared for was Michael's presence with you. But to him, it seemed like today too is going wrong and he has no clue how to fix it.
And you truly hated to see Michael angry or sad, he doesn't deserve to feel any of that. He's a sweetheart, he never put you down, so you have to keep him up.
"Have I told ya about the one time I almost died?" you ask him, and he clearly shifts demeanor to your question, you hide a smile waiting for his answer. Your ways might be effective after all.
He shook his head with knitted brows, you nodded and hummed. "Well, that day, I was picking up coffee from the shop I'm a regular for," you start, and you notice him directing all his being to you, "that day, me favorite waiter wasn't there to get me order, and another one got it," you leant onto the glass, after getting closer to him so the umbrella would cover the two of you better.
"But, when me order arrived, it was a wrong one, and I was really mad, I told the waiter to change it, but he couldn't, they can't give the drink to someone else and they're not allowed to throw it away," you got closer, and Michael was so integrated into the story.
"So I had to accept it, but I was still so angry at that, I wasn't seeing things clearly, and I was crossing the street and a car almost hit me!" you tell animatily, Michael was shocked.
"Ya didn't hurt yerself pet, did ya?" he was worried and you loved his face when he was.
You huffed a chuckle and shook your head, "I didn't hurt meself, and didn't spill me coffee either, and when I arrived to the bookshop and took a sip of it, I discovered that it was so much better than me regular order," you shrugged, Michael smiled but he wanted to know more, "and now it's me new regular."
Suddenly, the lights came back, as the night had already fallen. Michael's face lit up a little and you grinned to that. You walk into the place and the receptionist leads you to your table with plenty of apologies. Michael helps you into your seat and settles down his, released a breath he wasn't aware he was holding.
You reach out for his hand across the table, pulling him out of the cloud forming over his head. "It's okay, Mikey... We're inside now," you offer him a smile, he smiles back, you rub his knuckles with your thumb.
A waitress approaches your table with a note in hand, Michael took a deep breath and looked up at her. She asks for your dinner of choice. You look at Michael, informing him that you want him to order for the two of you, that you want what he wants.
"Two Seared Scallops with Pomegranate and Meyer Lemon," Michael answered after taking a glance at the menu then you. You nodded with a smile.
The waitress nods and takes her way back to the kitchen. Michael smiles at you, but his face drains of all blood when he sees the waitress approaching your table with an apologetic smile. "We truly apologize, sir and ma'am, but we're out of scallops and they won't be arriving today. Ye're gonna have ta change yer order," she tries to break the news as gentle as possible.
Michael is frustrated, his thick brows are firmly knitted over his gentle eyes, you caught them lose their shine, and you had to do something about it.
"It's fine, we can have steak, mashed potatoes, and wine, right Michael?" you had to give him a choice too. He looks up at you, you tilt your head to the side with a soft smile. He nods.
"Alright, two steaks... How d'ya like yer steak, ma'am?" the waitress asks. "Medium well," she nods to your answer and turns to look at Michael.
"And how d'ya like yer steak, sir?" you sneak your hand and place it on his, sending a supportive smile his way. He respires, "same as hers." he answers.
The waitress nods and walks back to the kitchen once again. You turn to face Michael, "I wouldn't mind if we never ate here, I just enjoy sitting with ya, Mikey," you hold his hand, he almost sobs, you reach out for his other hand, now fondling both of them. "It's you Michael, I ain't here fer the fancy dinner or the expensive wine, I'm here fer ya Mikey baby."
He finally smiles. "Thank you, pet," he whispers. You shake your head, "t's notin', Mikey."
Another waiter arrives with a tray of wine and globular glasses. The waiter pours your glass first and turns to pour Michael's—when he accidentally smacks your glass and he spills it onto your dress.
You hiss at the sudden cold wetness, trying your best not to curse or cry—because you too feel the world isn't working its best way with you today.
You close your eyes, taking a deep breath and trying to stop the tears from forming.
The waiter keeps apologizing, and you already know how Michael's reaction might be without even opening your eyes and looking at him.
But you can't let this day go bad, you still have a chance to fix it, you can make it 100% better with your reaction, you can stop the chain of bad occurrences.
You open your eyes and look up at the waiter, "it's alright I... I just need a towel..." he rushes back to the kitchen. You grabbed a napkin off the table and tried to absorb the wine spilled on your dress.
"Tha' fuckin' idiot..." Michael curses.
You chuckle, "it's okay, Mikey, me dress is red, it won't change notin', I'll be fine."
Once you made sure most of the dampness was gone, you readjusted yourself in front of Michael, wearing a beaming smile on your pretty face.
His eyes fondly meet yours and you're flustered, looking down at the silverware displayed on the table.
"How are ya like tha'?" Michael asked, resting his cheek in his palm. You looked up at him, and he's got the sweetest smile you've ever seen him doing. His eyes beautifully sparkled to the golden lights of the candles.
"Like what?" you answer with a question. He gestures at you with his chin.
"How're ya such a beam of light?" you turn red at his question, "how are ya, after all tha', still smilin' and tryin' ta make it work?"
"Well," you swallowed with a smile, "bad things won't stop happenin' t'ya, Mikey love, that's somethin' ya should keep in mind, but they can't stop ya from looking at the bright side of it all." Michael furrowed in participation.
"Y'know? I'll never get a chance ta make that day perfect more than it is now," you simply say, "and if I would get a chance ta fix anythin', I wouldn't, because it's already going perfect f'me."
The two of you spend the rest of the evening on nibbling and chattering. Your dress was now cold and sticking to your thighs but you didn't mind, the food turned stale and cold but you didn't care; as long as it was Michael with you, you didn't mind anything else in the world.
Michael pays for the dinner and accompanies you to the exit. The two of you look outside, the rain is heavily pouring over the city, and it's loud enough you could hear it from behind the glass door.
You turn to look at him, he smiles and nods, pushing the door and escorting you with an arm wrapping you to his side.
You step into the street under the rain and you're immediately showered. You snicker, holding Michael's hand and looking at him, your eyes asking him to join you. Michael giggles as he follows you, now holding the two of your hands softly as the skies decanted its whole heart on the two of you.
"Y'know ya can't wait for the rain ta stop. It's always raining in Dublin anyway, Mikey." you whisper, he smiles and cradles your cheeks and he pulls you into a kiss, warming your hearts under the cold downpour.
"the forest was bathed in the soft glow of the moon. most splendid of all, he thought, was the sparkle in her eyes; the glisten in her hair."
satan glanced sideways at you as he read aloud. your cheek was squished against his shoulder, your gaze focused on the book in his lap.
he continued, "in that moment, he knew there could be nothing in the world so wondrous as the sight of her beside him."
satan coveted the quiet nights like these. between student council affairs and his brothers, there always seemed to be something taking up your time.
and of course, he was fine with waiting. he was, as tiresome as it may be. it was still worth it to be able to spend time with you. in his room, in your room, or wherever you decided you wanted to read with him.
that night, it was his room. satan made sure the numerous books on his bed were cleared away for the occasion. he shut down all invitations and cleared his schedule, determined not to let anything interrupt.
yes, satan could wait. but when you gave him the opportunity to be in your company, he wasn't one to waste it.
""you look like you have something to say." she asked with a curious tilt of her head."
another glance stolen at you.
"there was so much. so much that his heart ought to burst inside his chest. this devotion seemed to consume him whole, drenching him in nothing but the sheer enigma person before him.
"she smiled knowingly at his silence. he could think of nothing else."
satan felt your leg bounce excitedly. if you knew what you were doing, he wouldn't tell you. he wasn't about to spoil your fun.
he loved everything about you, including your inclination for being on the quiet side. but with its scarcity, he couldn't help but revel in what little displays of emotion you would show. it took everything in him to keep from smiling too wide.
""speak your mind, my love.""
you'd said you read this book before in the human world. so, of course, you knew what was next. but what satan didn't expect was the breath of your whisper against his shoulder.
""there is no one i cherish more.""
satan turned to you with wide eyes.
color spread across your face.
"ah—" you sputtered. "sorry! sorry. i interrupted. you can continue! i didn't mean to.. aaaahhh.."
you threw your hands over your face, sinking lower onto the mattress.
but while you continued to mutter apologies, satan was too starstruck to hear any of it properly.
"speak your mind, my love."
"there is no one i cherish more."
something about the exchange set off fireworks in satan's head. his voice sounded so nice paired with yours..
suddenly, the initial image he had of the protagonists was wiped away, replaced with you and him— the moonlit forest reflected against a lake. him and you, saying those exact words.
satan inhaled sharply as he started to leave his stupor. he looked down at you, blushing so hard that steam might as well have been leaving through your ears.
he could only smile.
"really, mc, it's alright.." he chuckled.
"sorry.." you murmured behind your hands.
"it's not a problem." he said. "we can continue if you'd like."
you were silent for a moment. slowly, you nodded. your fingers started to slide apart, opening up your eyes.
satan looked down at the book, feeling equally sheepish.
"um.. well," he cleared his throat. "we could.. read together this time? ..if you want."
your eyes widened.
"uh.."
"...is that a no?"
your hands lowered a little, revealing a little more than half your face now. before satan could turn it down himself, wondering if he overstepped, you shook your head.
soon enough, you were back in your previous position. this time, the book laid equally split between your laps so you both could read.
"..you can start." you mumbled.
your cheek brushed against his shoulder. satan could feel a similar warmth at the tips of his ears.
he thought of you and him at the lake.
"okay." he said. ""there is no one i cherish more." he confessed, taking hold of his lover's hand."
satan wanted to hold your hand.
""i simply wanted to let you know. i love you to the moon, and all the way past the stars, if you'd let me.""
in the corner of his eye, you swallowed. your voice seemed to quiver the way satan's heart skipped its beats.
""i would." she said."
he stole another glance at you.
this time, you were looking back at him.
for a fraction of a moment, satan thought he could see a mirage of the scene reflected in your eyes.
you didn't look back down at the words as you continued.
""..and i would love you farther still.""
all satan could think then was oh.
oh.
he could see you think it too. in the way you straightened. the way you fidgeted. the way that despite your obvious nervousness, you didn't look away.
your gaze questioned, pleaded; filled with that oh-so-familiar need to know.
satan's fingers brushed against yours. he squeezed the pad of your fingertip in reassurance.
""then there is nothing left to say.""
