So there’s another one of those cool Hermitcraft trivia posts circulating again which I kinda wanna reblog but also I’m feeling a little bit hesitant because some of the points seem maybe a little bit inaccurate or exaggerated? Like I’d like to fact check them first at least.

(Particularly what stuck out to me was the point about season two only happening because Joe did a coup, because that’s not how I understood that story the way Joe and Xisuma have told it? Or at least as far as I can remember... the impression I had was that Xisuma was mainly the person who took the initiative to keep the server going but Joe was one who broke the gridlock on whether or not they should add new members by just straight up inviting Cleo without asking the others.)

(So maybe a more accurate way to phrase it is that without Xisuma season 2 wouldn’t have happened, but without Joe, season 2 might not have had any new members. And at this point the only still currently active Hermits who were already on the server were X, Hypno and Joe, so the lineup could have turned out very differently, if the server had even survived past season 2.)

(I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure this is how I remember hearing it?)

But what actually annoyed me was this comment from someone (not OP, to be clear) in the notes:

(Don’t go looking for this please, and don’t harass this person, I’m just highlighting this because it’s an example of an attitude you see a lot. It’s not just this specific person who I don’t know at all and whose url I already forgot.)

I don’t wanna start counting diversity points on each server like it’s a fucking game, but I DO wanna point out that the “white guy“ comment is pretty rich coming from a Hermitcraft fan.

Both servers have a white guy problem.

But at least with Dream SMP I can actually think of more than one creator who isn’t white, and it didn’t take them until season 2 to add a second female member...

(I know Hermitcraft is more of a private and closed group and they have extremely strict qualifications they demand from new members, plus every current member has veto power, so it’s much harder to add new Hermits than it is to add new DSMP members where it’s all decided by One Guy, but I think some frustration about this is still justified due to how big Hermitcraft is in the MCYT community.)

It’s also extremely annoying when apparently there was a whole thing where Hermit fans were insisting that Quackity is white during the sexyman polls?? Presumably just to excuse their shitty behaviour??? idek. (And I also heard on the other hand that there were some straight up racist comments made about Quackity as well. He literally cannot win, apparently.)

What is this weird attitude towards new creators?? Yes, it’s cool that Hermitcraft has been around for over a decade and that the Hermits have all these cool histories in the community and even influenced the development of the game itself, but you can celebrate that without needing to put down new people, ffs.

I know it’s annoying when the new guys suddenly get more popular than your guys, but it happens, it’s the circle of YouTube. Please chill out. No need to be a hipster about it.

Besides, even if we don’t count people like Vikkstar who admittedly didn’t play on DSMP all that much, there were still people on the server who had long histories in the MCYT community:

Phil has been making Minecraft videos at least since 2012, when he started his first Hardcore Series, and holds the record for the longest running hardcore world to date. There’s a splash text in Minecraft referencing him (”Ph1lzA had a good run!”)

Techno started his channel in 2013 and was part of the Hypixel player council (or was it called the Elite Team back then? Not sure) since he was like 14 or 15, helping with testing and game design on many of the iconic Hypixel games before the server became the biggest Minecraft server in the world. He too has a splash text in the game (”Technoblade never dies!”)

BadBoyHalo has his own PVP server called MunchyMC which was launched in 2015 and before that he was part of the staff on a different PVP server.

Also while more recent, a whole bunch of DSMP members were also on SMP Live and SMP Earth back in 2019. In fact 2019 was when a lot of the DSMP members originally got their initial boost into popularity.

Honestly the only DSMP members who fit the description of “new white guy who popped up in 2021“ are like... probably Foolish and BoomerNA??

I think you probably meant 2020 anyway, because that’s when Dream, George, Sapnap, Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo became popular. I assume so anyway because those are usually the white guys people actually seem to be talking about when they talk about DSMP white guys. (Obligatory note that Ranboo is in fact nonbinary though.)

tl;dr:

You can just hype up the Hermits and just not say anything about DSMP. That’s an option. Especially if you clearly don’t know that much about DSMP.

Does Bunnie exist in the superhero-au?

Ah! Sorry! I meant to answer this forever ago but totally forgot about it!

Yeah Bunnie exist, as do the rest of the Archie crew. Am thinking the Freedom Fighters are like the Justice League or Avengers of this universe. Ironically the original members of this superhero team didn't have any superpowers. Unless you're counting Bunnie's cybernetics that is. Tho later on Rotor gets that power suit he had during the Mecha Sally story arc, and Antoine obtains a magic sword.

They started off as a bunch of vigilante teens, inspired by the heroics of Sonic the Hedgehog, looking to make a difference in their world. Eventually they became more organised, gained more recognition, and grew in numbers to the point of having multiple teams around the world (like the Arctic and Downunda Freedom Fighter groups). Sonic was also a member, tho he was often off doing his own thing.

But it all started with Sally in a homemade costume, aided by her friends Rotor and Antoine, plus a prototype AI invented by father's company. Bunnie joined a little later, having been involved with an evil techno cult/organisation that made her into a cyborg against her will. Sally and the guys wanted to help Bunnie take the organisation down, quickly realising they were in over their heads but also that they were the only ones actually doing anything about them. Fighting these guys was what really kicked off their superhero careers.

Bunnie was also a rock for Sally to lean on after her accident that resulting in gaining her own cybernetics. She helped her through a lot of difficult days then. Now that superheroes have been made illegal, Bunnie settled down with Antoine (always thought that ship was cute) in a quite little town and opened a hair salon. These two were already thinking about retirement right before everything went down anyways, tho they wish it hadn't happened the way it did... The old gang doesn't see a lot of each other, but they all try to stay in touch and get together at least once a year or so to catch up.

dsmp, ngl. i've always liked that whole mini thing and didn't really know it was g/t (like you) but once i did, the first thing that popped up while scrolling this app on the g/t tag was dsmp g/t, and i think that's pretty funny because at the time i knew what the dsmp was but wasn't particularly interested in it, and i joined the fandom as soon as i saw those g/t posts. both fandoms helped each other lmaoo

But eventually he ends up teaming with techno blade and dream after they save him. And he starts training with them and gets better at pvp and eventually kills/greatly injures one of the butcher gang as revenge, before returning to his village? Summary: After weeks of working Y/N to the bones the Butcher Army has a different need of him. After managing to get the best gear possible from Y/N and having trained enough, it was finally time to get revenge! It was time to “peacefully” get Technoblade so he can stand trial, of course taking Y/N with them, after all he worked so hard on their gear and was now a part of their little army.

Authors Note: Thank you for the nice words! 💙 :D I’m sorry I broke this request up in two parts! I will concentrate on finishing up another or two requests and while I do that, I will also try finishing up part 3 since I am already in the middle of writing it! So don’t worry it is coming!

Y/N pressed his back against the cold stone wall. Enjoying the coolness on his body. Pressing his burned palms against the cold floor beneath him. The coldness was like a soothing balm that engulfed him after working for hours at the forge.

It was probably a bad idea pushing the wounds down onto the dirty floor, but he didn’t care. The temporary relief of pain just felt too good that he couldn’t stop himself.

A small break from the constant stress on his body.

Basking in the break from the constant supervision of the Butcher Army, even if that break came at the cost of him being locked inside a cell.

He had no idea how long he has been here in L’Manberg. An interesting city built inside a crater. They led him to this place, riding on their horses while pulling him along with a rope. It was a grueling two-day trip and as soon as the group arrived, they almost immediately put him to work.

First it just started out with him looking over their current armor and repairing what he could, then they began forcing him to create multiple sets of iron armor, claiming they would give him the resources and he should just work.

So, he did. He created armor sets, weapons and tools. Making new ones when they lost the gear, or it got destroyed. They put his work to the test. Fighting against each other to train. Using it against a horde of mobs, so there was never really a shortage of work.

The real trouble came when they suddenly presented him with diamonds. Ordering him to make them diamond armor but he didn’t know how. His expertise laid with iron work nothing else, but the group wouldn’t hear a no from him. Forcing him to figure out how to best create this diamond armor by showing him their old ones.

Luckily his knowledge seemed to somewhat extend to the new material as well. It took a while, but he soon found out different ways to create a similar product to that of his iron gear.

Diamond armor light but strong, the tools incredibly sturdy and in some cases sharp.

This seemed to be what the group was looking for. Yelling things like “This could rival netherite!” as they tried it out for the first time.

One day they brought him a new material. It was netherite. It was good thing that netherite behaved more like iron and was used as a coating for diamond gear, so Y/N could make this upgraded gear for them fast and easily.

The netherite complimented his work quite well. It received greater durability but also made it possible to sharpen the weapons even more so. Something about this material seemed to behave otherworldly to him which got confirmed to him once he found out that it came from the nether.

Naively Y/N had hoped that this was enough and that they would finally let him go and return to his village. His one true home. Though of course they didn’t let him go, saying that they still haven’t reached their goal and needed his help.

Still working him to the bone. His hands getting more and more hurt over time as he worked with the materials. The metal that coated them cracking more and more.

The villagers back home were left with the only few defenses he put up, which should be fine but also, he wanted to be there and make sure they were alright.

As he sat alone in the dark room, he let himself silently cry. He missed them so much. They would make sure he was alright, giving him an abundance of food and materials and whenever he refused to take more, they would look so insulted. If anything, the villagers were good-natured beings that believed in true reciprocity.

This seemed to be a foreign concept for the L’Manberg people or at least the Butcher Army. Increasing his fear and wariness for other humans even more. He never actually had any contact with other people outside of them, but he did learn a few things about the little group and what their opinion was of others.

For starters there were two people they saw as their ultimate enemies.

One called Dream and another called Technoblade.

From the things he heard and even the few question he managed to ask despite of his fear and anxiety, he gained the idea that these two must have been horrible tyrants. He almost got the idea that they were just beasts out here hunting their prey and trying to subject the other people under their own rule or ideologies.

And Y/N was scared of them. He didn’t want to meet them and make sure to stay far away but this was also how he felt towards the Butcher Army, conflicting thoughts and emotions brewing inside of him. The Butcher Army acted like they were the good guys, doing bad things for a good goal and Y/N wanted to believe in that. Wanted to believe that him suffering will bring something good as well but there were doubts.

Y/N laid his hurting hands on his biceps, squeezing them in pain as he tried to stifle his sobs. No matter what, he will make sure to not cry in front of them. It was stupid and unnecessary, but he didn’t want to give them the satisfaction. Though then again, the only person who seemed to enjoy the feeling of power was Quackity. Fundy was a close second, but he looked mostly just forward to the new goods and the power he seemed to gain through them.

Tubbo and Ranboo were more passive. Especially Ranboo.

Quackity seemed to string Tubbo along most of the time, speaking to his pride as president of the nation and basically just whispering him what he should do, and the young president listened.

Ranboo tried to sometimes help Y/N. Giving him things like bandages for his wounds or giving him extra food and water, even trying to do small talk with him to lighten the mood. If the situation were different Y/N would have laughed at his awkward attempts for conversation.

While he appreciated it, it just hammered back in the feeling of homesickness.

He bit his lower lip as his thoughts began running a mile an hour again. Ranging from despair to him cursing out his captors. He was too kind to actually think things like “I hate them. I hate them so much.” Trying to believe there was a good reason for this, but he was getting tired. His work is getting more and more sloppy, and it was only a matter of time until Quackity and the others noticed.

There was no telling with how long he could take this anymore.

Y/N got back up only to fall into bed. There was nothing better to do here than sleep through the days and wait for the others to get him out.

As it turned out the others needed him early in the morning but this time it was different.

Quackity opened up the iron door to his cell with a sterner expression than usual. It surprised Y/N when he saw that Quackity had put the white apron on top of his new netherite armor. This was not a good sign. The last time he saw that armor on him was when Quackity escorted him to L’Manberg.

“Get up. We have something to do.” His voice was cold and strained. A hint of anxiety mixed in, or maybe it was anticipation after all.

Not even daring to hesitate, Y/N jumped off his bed. Wordlessly following his captor, soon noticing that this would not be a usual day for him.

Instead of turning to the smithy they set up for him, Quackity led him to the town middle where he saw the rest of the Butcher Army waiting. Decked out in Y/N’s best armor and horses in tow. Expressions pulled down into deep frowns.

But what confused him the most was that he counted five horses when there were only four members of the army. A bad feeling begun building up at the bottom of his stomach. Like a rock sinking down into the depths of water.

“What is going on?” Y/N managed to rasp out as the two reached the others.

Quackity collected the reigns of all the horses and pushed it into Y/N’s rough hands “It is time we finally get some retribution. We are going after Technoblade and we need your help for that. Your own armor is over there. Get ready while we have a little talk with Philza.”

He didn’t wait for an answer and instead moved towards Philza’s home, only to turn around one more time before they rung the bell in front of the house “And I swear by Ender if you run away, we will find you. We know the only probable place you would seek refuge in and even if you don’t, we will wreck that place.”

Then they sounded the bell. A familiar ringing that made Y/N’s heart ache even more.

There was no real choice, he just looked around and found his old iron armor laying on the ground. The scratches and damages from back when the Butcher Army found him still there. He never got the chance to repair it.

Y/N never really talked with Philza. He only saw him here and there. Usually whenever Philza passed him he would just stare. Just stare him down. Something going through his mind, but Y/N couldn’t possibly tell what. His expression always grim only to jump back into a relaxed smile. Y/N always thought his smile felt a bit off. Wrong even. Not the truth or hiding something.

When the door swung open again it gave away to a smug looking Quackity who happily swung around a compass by its chain around his finger. A proud looking Tubbo behind him, followed by Fundy who looked almost like he was sulking and Ranboo who had a complicated expression on his face. He didn’t feel comfortable.

“We’ve got what we need. Now, to Technoblade. Everyone on their horses! This includes you, Y/N.” Quackity exclaimed.

The bad feeling increased, creating a lump in his throat. Shakily he opened up his hand and let everyone get on their horses, leaving him with a beautiful black one.

Nervous he put his foot in the pedal of the saddle and heaved himself up on it.

He wanted to scream. Run away. What would they need him for? His armor was way inferior to that of the others, ignoring the fact that he couldn’t fight at all.

No, they didn’t need him to fight but be a shield for them. A moving shield. After all he was an Iron Golem Hybrid. Big areas of his skin covered in thin metal plates, not all connected so he could still move but it gave him more protection. That plus his height was what they counted on, wasn’t it? That he would still be imposing enough to draw attention.

This was the conclusion he came to due to Quackity. He heard him talking. All Y/N was to him was a tool, a resource to be used and the worst part was that Y/N just couldn’t defend himself against this. Too scared anything might happen to his home because Quackity was right, they knew exactly where his home was and how important this place was to him.

Y/N didn’t realize how suddenly Quackity slowed down his horse as they arrived in the snow biome only pulling him out of his anxiety filled thoughts as he began speaking to him directly.

“Here is the plan. We want to get Technoblade and-” He stopped himself as he searched for the right words “And hold him accountable. Yes, we will put him on trial. If we are lucky, he will just follow us, but we doubt it. If he refuses, he will likely fight us. We just need you to draw your attention on yourself but don’t worry, we will jump right in to take care of him.”

“I- I don’t, Quackity, I don’t- I can’t fight!” Y/N croaked out. It felt like ages since he last spoke.

But Quackity just smiled “Don’t worry.”

That was all he said before hurrying along to be back at the front of the pack. Holding the glowing compass close to himself.

Y/N knew. He knew this was the case and yet it felt like someone stuffed snow down his shirt. A cold shiver running down his spine. Panic rising even more. It was a good thing he was sitting on top of a horse, otherwise he wasn’t sure if his shaking legs could carry him for the rest of the way. Each step closer to what felt like his doom.

His doom? Would Technoblade kill him? The way the small Army described him, he wouldn’t hesitate to cut him down.

Was it bad he didn’t fear dying but just the potential pain?

Realizing where his thoughts were running off to, he shook himself. No, his home, his real home, needed him. He couldn’t die yet. He needed to find a way to survive.

Suddenly Fundy stopped his horse and moved his fist up in the air, signaling for the others to stop as well. While the others wondered why he did this, Fundy pointed ahead through the trees towards a figure? A person? Out here in the snowy tundra?

Without saying anything Quackity jumped off his horse, the others following suit and begun tying the animals to the trees. Once Y/N understood what was happening he did the same. His eyes darting back towards the figure that seemed to interact and cuddle with a blue sheep while he made sure his horse was secured to one of the trees.

“What’s Ghostbur doing here?” Ranboo whispered more to himself but Y/N caught it.

He heard of Ghostbur but actually never met him. Apparently, the ghost of the man that blew the nation up but that was really all he knew.

They approached the ghost on foot, calling out to him in the process to gain his attention. The ghost immediately waved towards them with an earnest and big smile on his face. Y/N was fretting for his life at the moment but something about Ghostbur almost calmed him down.

Maybe it was just the fact of meeting a new friendly face after being surrounded by the Butcher Army for so long.

Ghostbur approached them, the sheep following him via a leash “Hello Quackity! Hello Fundy! Hello Tubbo! Hello Ranboo! Oh! I don’t know your name! I’m sorry! Hello though! I’m Ghostbur!”

Y/N was a bit taken aback. He was so friendly.

“Y/N. My name is Y/N.” he surprised himself a little bit with how he just blurted it out.

Ghostbur cocked his head to the side as he listened “Nice to meet you Y/N! You don’t look too good! Are you doing alright? Oh no, was this rude? Do you want some blue? Maybe that will help!”

Before Y/N could even properly process what he could possibly mean with blue Quackity jumped in “Hey, Ghostbur. You know if Technoblade is close? Is he somewhere around here?”

Somehow Ghostbur managed to lighten up even more, which should be impossible but Ghostbur’s eyes widened into a fond recognition and he turned around “Yes! Yes! I got lost but I found Techno! He told me to go though! He is over there! Come with me, I’ll show you!”

The Ghost then begun floating off, leading the group between trees and soon arriving on a small hill that gave them a good view of a cottage house.

Seeing the homey build, it was difficult for Y/N to imagine that a monster lived there. If anything, it reminded him of his own home. Maybe he won’t fight? Maybe this will end peacefully? But somehow Y/N doubted it by the serious but eager expressions on half of the Butcher Army’s faces as their eyes fell on Techno’s home.

“Let’s go.” Quackity trotted down the hill “We all know what to do.”

Y/N’s heartbeat took on speed again. Everyone got their weapons out and even though Y/N was technically really strong due to his constant smithing work, the iron sword in his hand felt heavy. Like it could slip out of his hand any second.

Worried his eyes darted across the few windows of the house. Trying to get a glimpse of Technoblade but all he saw was a shadow moving away from one of the windows.

Did he see them approaching?

“Techno get out!” Quackity suddenly yelled, pulling Y/N back out of his anxiety filled thoughts once again.

It took a second but suddenly the wooden door opened up slowly and Technoblade got out. He wore netherite armor, a red gown with white fluff on his shoulders on top of the armor, a crown on top of his head, his pink hair pulled back.

With his scowling expression and stature, he looked scary.

Technoblade took a step outside on his porch, Y/N suddenly became very aware of how sharp his tusks looked.

“What do you want?”

With a deep breath Quackity took a closer step towards the Pig Hybrid “We are here to get you! We, the Butcher Army, are here to put you on trial!”

“Yes! It is time you take responsibility for the destruction of L’Manberg!” Fundy added on. Tubbo just nodded to show his support to this statement.

“And why should I follow you? I’ve retired, I don’t want to be a part of any of this anymore. I’m done.” Techno spoke.

Quackity turned around to look at Y/N for a second only to continue speaking with Techno “Well, either you follow us peacefully or we will force you. You can’t run away from what you have done! Come with us and stand trial!”

But he didn’t answer immediately, Techno moved down the porch. Almost circling the group, his eyes jumping around between them.

“Listen, guys. The voices in my head. They begged me for more blood. They demanded more but I refused. I purposefully got out here to deny them, just leave me be.”

“Techno, you spawned Withers in L’Manberg! People got hurt! They destroyed a huge part of our nation! You have to stand trial!” Tubbo readjusted his grip on his axe. He looked angry and almost bewildered.

Technoblade slowly shook his head “No, you don’t understand. I’m trying to keep away from all this for a reason! You are just pulling me back to things and-“

“No! You either come with us or we will make you! Five to one Techno, you think you can do that?” Quackity interrupted him, pointing his weapon at Techno.

Y/N was overwhelmed with the situation. The man in front of him, Technoblade, wasn’t how he imagined him. He tried to reason but the others wouldn’t want to hear it which Y/N could understand as well but this man didn’t look like the blood thirsty monster the others described him as.

The Pig Hybrid sighed, his eyes now instead of jumping around finally decided to rest on Y/N, who in return suddenly felt small under his gaze. Did Techno realize that Y/N was the attack bait? Is he falling for it? Or did he notice his trembling arms and legs. The fear and worry in his eyes. The burn wounds covering his hands and arms. The clearly damaged iron armor.

Was he seeing Y/N as prey or as the scared man that feared for his life he really was?

“What will it be, Techno?” Fundy snarled, showing of his sharp teeth.

His hands moved towards his side “If it has to be like that, then I choose blood!”

Then everything went really fast. His hands pulled out a few flask from his belt, hidden by his gown that he threw on the ground to buff himself.

The Butcher Army immediately grew panicked and barked orders, a clear and loud order from Quackity flew through the chaos and reached Y/N “Attack him, Y/N!”

And he didn’t know why but he moved in. He was scared, his heart felt close to exploding in his chest, but he was somehow more scared of Quackity and what could happen shouldn’t he listen. Scared that he would force him to work even more, refusing him sleep and food again. Not letting him treat his wounds properly that he got from the work.

So, he moved in. With shaking legs and what felt like without strength in his arms. The world turned blurry. Was he crying or just his nerves? He couldn’t tell.

All he remembered was Techno coming close to him, looking like a demon. His eyes wide and filled with what Y/N assumed to be bloodlust.

Y/N moved his arm up, just trying to hit Techno with his own sword, but Techno was faster. He slammed the blunt end of his netherite sword into Y/N’s neck. Shocked by the sudden attack, he fell to the ground. The world growing dark for a few seconds as he coughed and tried to breathe again.

As he sat in the cold snow, trying to calm down he heard the Army yelling. Metal clanging on metal.

Then it suddenly stopped.

A neighing. A horse? What?

Luckily Y/N seemed to have regained somewhat control over his own body and could assess the situation in front of him.

The Butcher Army seemed to be alright. Y/N’s armor really held through, no obvious damage on it. They were out of breath and sweating but alright.

A bit ashamed Y/N couldn’t help but be proud of his work that it withstood a buffed-up Techno with a netherite sword.

But what really caught his attention was Quackity who held the reigns of a horse with diamond armor. His axe held up close to the animal’s throat.

Technoblade moved the tip of his blade towards him “Get away from that horse, Quackity!”

“Follow us peacefully and nothing will happen to the horse, Techno. Your choice.”

There was a slight hesitation as Techno undoubtedly tried to gauge if he could somehow deal with Quackity differently but ultimately, he suddenly dropped his weapon as well his armor.

Perplexed Y/N got back up, still rubbing his neck.

Techno spared him. He obviously just tried to either knock him out or make him unable to fight, which he succeeded in. Wouldn’t it have been for Y/N’s reinforced skin due to his Iron Golem side he would have been knocked out for sure.

Fundy did not hesitate to jump in and wrap chains around Techno’s wrists “Y/N! You are the strongest one of us. You hold on to him, we will be close by to ensure he won’t run off.”

Avoiding looking at the others directly after having been taken out of the fight so easily, he made his way towards Fundy and grabbed the chains. Wrapping it a few times around his own arm as well. Feeling sick to his stomach as he realized that he was doing the same thing to Techno like back when the group escorted him out of his own village.

He couldn’t help himself but whisper towards Techno a quick “I’m sorry.”

“I know.”

thinking (yet again!) about the differences between the bad batch story reels and the season seven arc and like... some changes just blow my mind because all it did, really, was make the bad batch less likable.

lets star with the whole “reg” thing. if i remember correctly, in the originals “regs” is said twice. the first instance is by crosshair when taunting jesse in the LAAT. the second is said by hunter: he tells tech (who’s hacking into the cyber center) that he and wrecker are going to “go get the regs” (i.e. rex and jesse). that is, hunter only used it among his squad when the others were not present (much like how cody informs that the bad batch are defective clones out of earshot. these words are descriptors, but there’s also an offense associated to being referred to by them). the idea that hunter has restraint referring to regular clones this way in their faces connects, i think, to how hunter was a tad more apologetic to jesse in the original script. “he means regular clones. don’t take it personal. it’s just that we don’t always follow protocol” carried an actual sense of hunter trying to convince jesse that it’s nothing to do with him.

it’s interesting, i think, that in a context where you have clones and defective clones, that the bad batch (as defective clones) would find a way to talk about other clones in reference to themselves in a way that normalizes their own existence. it also introduces the idea that the bad batch experience a level of disconnect, and even animosity, in regards to other clones. all that can be conveyed by only using the word twice. the season seven episodes added three more instances, and in all of them the bad batch members comfortably throw the word around the clones who “are regs.” the sense of separateness (which, again, was already established/achieved by using it just two times) is only made stronger (thus more needs to be done to portray a sense of reconciliation or coming together. the reels succeed this to an extent because that barrier wasn’t built up as high).

so yeah in the original... wrecker didn’t say “we always get shot down when we travel with regs,” he kept quiet as he helped people out of the wrecked gunship (in fact, wrecker lost a lot of subtlety going from the reels to the final eps, which i’ll get back to). hunter didn’t fake-compliment rex with a “not bad, for a reg”! and oh boy crosshair’s comment implying that echo is worthless and expendable because he’s a “reg”... yeah that was not in the reels either. in fact, not only does crosshair not call echo a reg, the meaning of his original dialogue was completely different.

in the original, after hunter voices his suspicions echo might be dead, crosshair suggests that if alive echo could be cooperating with the enemy, making him a traitor. rex takes this as an attack on echo’s character and crosshair explains that no, he’s not intending to insult echo, by saying: “oh i don’t blame him, if i were left for dead, i wouldn’t be so loyal.” and like!!!!! that’s such a radically different line of dialogue because crosshair seems to blame rex for having left echo behind, actually. if you betrayed the republic to survive, or even out of spite, i don’t blame you even if you now present a threat to myself and my family, is such an interesting, empathetic sentiment. and that contrasts with the lack of regard given to rex, making it read like he’s condemning rex for leaving someone behind. crosshair doesn’t seem to understand, as an experimental commando clone, the pressures rex as a legion captain is under, because he’s seen a less expandable (they’re a specially trained four man team, if one dies that’s 25% of the unit gone. is there a replacement for that member? you get the idea). so you’ve got a clash between different povs, but also crosshair being shown as having a set of morals, chief among them being that you do not leave anyone behind. so remember when rex says to move out and crosshair goes “commander cody is in no position to move” yeah i’d say that’s crosshair making sure cody isn’t being left behind. when crosshair saves anakin? that’s because he saw anakin go off on his own and followed him. because you don’t leave people behind. and like... the idea that yeah crosshair is an asshole. he’s unpleasant and that’s deliberate. he doesn’t care if people like him and he’s not trying to be liked. but that he values the lives of other people and looks out for them? that makes an interesting, flawed and multifaceted character. that got lost in the dialogue change because its no longer suggested that crosshair holds these values.

as for what i said earlier about wrecker: he lost subtle, nonverbal moments through the addition of lines that are either anticlimactic or only serve to make him seem loud or ditzy in an exaggerated fashion. he didn’t laugh when the LAAT came down. he was quiet as he helped people out of the downed gunship (no comment about regs!). he didn’t say “boom” when the ship exploded in the background after he flipped it over (the difference? a character moment that’s actually cool and impressive vs something that’s corny). when wrecker comes to crosshair’s aid by picking rex off of him, there was no quippy one liner. there was no need for anything to be said for it to be understood that wrecker is acting as a barrier and it trying to intimidate rex. when he’s afraid to get onto the elevator? that’s conveyed visually through camera angles and through hunter picking up on the fact that he’s scared. he doesn’t scream (if you can call a comical “aah what is that thing oh no its going to get me” a scream) when the organic decimator almost gets him. when they walk across the pipe? wrecker doesn’t whimper or talk to himself for comfort. he is scared of heights, that’s already been established, but he’s also a grown man and a soldier like he’s keeping that to himself? like we see wrecker hesitating to walk on the ledge but doing it anyway because he has to. in a piece of dialogue that was cut, tech said “does anyone want to know the odds of us making it across alive?” to which wrecker (who’s you know already having a bad time) interrupts with “don’t even think about it, tech” (if ur curious, this exchange was replaced with: wrecker: “keep walking tech!” tech: “that’s fine, but if you fall don’t take me with you” which???? uuh weird exchange). also, the fact that wrecker was mostly dealing with his fear silently means that when hunter tells wrecker to hold on because they’re almost there... that’s because hunter knows he’s scared and is checking up on him. basically... any kind of serious moment was cheapened by having wrecker talk in them. now i don’t want to say that DBB is a bad voice actor, but his expertise is making animal noises. he’s not able to do a realistic, deep voice, meaning that whenever wrecker talks he kind of sounds like a joke. it’s fine when wrecker is actual being lighthearted and jokey, but otherwise? the emotion just does not come across as genuine, which breaks the stakes or weakens credibility.

and god the whole plot point about the bad batch being suspicious of echo was nonexistent in the reels. the “don’t worry, echo says he’s got a plan”/”that makes me feel so much better” exchange between rex and tech is in the original, but tech’s sarcasm isn’t from doubting echo’s allegiance, it’s because they’re planning to land on admiral trench’s ship and echo having a plan (that he himself doesn’t know) doesn’t exactly soothe his anxieties. rex acts like tech’s being a big joker and playfully shoves him, telling him to get on board. which is an interesting interaction because these characters are kind of starting to bond?? as for tech and echo, they kinda become nerdy friends really quick. like when tech warns echo not to send the signal right away because he first needs to make it look like it’s coming from skako minor, echo’s like “oh yeah good thinking tech.” and when echo figures out a way to shut down all the droids at once tech is impressed and lightly shoves his shoulder. again there is none of that “oooh maybe echo’s a traitor maybe he’s with the techno union” shit. like i understand that the writers wanted to up the stakes but it falls flat because the idea of echo being a traitor isn’t credible. it does not seem like an actual risk or possibility. so all it did was make the bad batch seem like assholes, cutting away at some very nice character moments.

ok this is a long post and you might ask yourself “but tumblr user rishi-eel, why do you care so much about the story reels, this stuff isn’t canon now” and there are a couple reasons, first, i think it managed to tell a better story overall. so the question is: why is that? because you would expect that writers reworking the plot would add improvements and not downgrades. and to be fair, the s7 episodes had a bunch of upgrades, but not when it came to the characterization of the bad batch. another thing to consider is that changes were made in the context of setting the bad batch up as future protagonists of their own spinoff series (something the original arc was not intended to do because there were no plans for a bad batch series). were the characters made flatter and more archetypal to add to marketability? was the reg/defective clone rivalry (and dichotomy, even) amplified because this separateness serves a narrative in which the bad batch are heroes and the other clones villains?

College AU pt.2 (pt.1)

They befriend Techno to help them with their hunt and Techno is too awkward to point out he is the boyfriend when he figures out who it is, so he just kind of... tags along? Phil sees him with them one day and goes to say hi and Techno is just frantically shaking his head like no don't do it, it'll be so awkward.

Phil is laugh crying one day because Techno made him laugh so hard, but Wilbur or Tommy mishear it as just Phil crying when the boyfriend talks to him. The next day they grab Techno by the arm and announce that they’re going to beat the boyfriend into a bloody pulp.

Techno, internally like, “Oh no what did I do.”

Techno just stands there like, “Ah yes let's beat him up mhm. This seems like a good plan. Also what did he do????”

Techno, later, calling Phil like, “Phil why were you crying? Is it my fault? I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me???”

Phil, “Dude what the hell?”

Techno’s in, legitimate distress about this. He buys some flowers to apologize. Phil is confusion. It's still really sweet, especially when Techno will ramble on afterwards about the meanings of the flowers he picked out for Phil once he’s assured he didn’t do anything wrong.

Phil, taking Techno by the shoulders, “Listen, don't listen to those idiots, I'll tell you if I'm upset. Techno, they haven't figured out that you're the boyfriend. They're morons.”

Techno, “I know how are they so dumb I don't understand, I talk about you so much.”

Techno’s last conversation when trying to clue them in went something like, “My boyfriend, he’s blonde. You know him. He has blue eyes. He’s short.”

Wilbur and Tommy, squinting, “Doesn’t ring any bells to me.” and "Sounds like a weirdo. Anyways, think this other random person might be Phil's boyfriend?"

Techno desperately wants them to figure it out so he doesn't have to admit it. He starts describing the same date Phil mentioned them going on, but from his perspective. It doesn't work. In fact, it completely backfires and they think that Phil is cheating on his boyfriend with Techno.

They thinks it’s techno’s fault, so they try to prevent Phil from talking with Techno. Techno does not deal well with the stress of the people he thought were his new friends shunning and shaming him for something he didn't do

Phil sees how stressed and depressed Techno is getting because of his friend's antics, so he goes "Nope, you guys are coming with me to my boyfriend's next fencing competition." They come in to see Phil cheering on the winner, but he's wearing the mask and gear, so they can’t see his face. They then hear some of the other fencing team members call Phil the winner's boyfriend. This must be him! Phil approaches the mystery boyfriend after the match, only for voila, he removes the fencing mask and kisses Techno in front of everyone. Phil makes sure to sets them all straight afterwards.

Rating GeorgeNotFound’s friendship with each Dream Smp member (well...most) because I love his dynamic with everyone

Dream: This doesn’t need a rating whatsoever. They’re practically family at this point, being in eachother’s presence is their default and it has gotten to a point where no matter how much they argue or disagree, they will always be in eachother’s lives because they’d be lost if they weren’t.

Sapnap: Again, doesn’t need a rating. The brother dynamic he has with George is *chefs kiss* beautiful. They can never go a day without arguing but neither of them take it to heart because again, they’re drawn to eachother and can’t do a single day without being in eachother’s presence. They’re very protective of eachother, Sapnap just is more obvious about it.

BBH: 1000/10 Wholesome friendship, they clearly care a lot about eachother and BBH is a lot slower to yell at George/get annoyed at him than he is for Sapnap and Dream. He sort of sees George as like a little brother who he needs to protect, putting up with his antics with the patience of a SAINT. George clearly is more protective over BBH, his teasing is a lot more lighthearted then it is with anyone else and a lot more harmless.

Quackity: 100000/10 YES! BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP! I literally could not tell you how this friendship started if I tried, I’m pretty sure we all just woke up one day and they decided to be best friends and I accept that. Quackity brings out a side to George that we never really got to see until a few months ago, and in doing that George is beginning to become a lot more confident even when Quackity isn’t around. Plus, it took an emergency for Karl to get George’s number, five years for Sapnap to get it and all Quackity had to do was MEOW

Ponk: 50/10 (Idk what the rating system is at this point shut up) We never really get to see this friendship live, but I think that’s one of the things that makes it more wholesome; the fact that they’re not just playing it up for the camera, it’s more genuine. We know that Ponk and George went to Winter Wonderland together last year where Ponk took adorable videos of George and George bought Ponk his Supreme mask that ended up going onto his MC skin. Incredible friendship, would love to see more

Karl: 47.5/10 Karl really brings George out of his shell and the biggest example of this is MCC11. In every other MCC before that, George has been so quiet, especially with Dream and Sapnap because he’s a lot less competitive than them. MCC 11 I think is the first time we had seen George be confident and that is largely due to Karl making it less tense and more lighthearted.

Wilbur: 100/10 Probably the only person George will flirt back with without hesitation. He reciprocates everything Wilbur tells him and doesn’t seem phased by it whatsoever which just shows how comfortable they are with eachother. MCC 12 was immaculate because of this dynamic.

Sam: 30/10 YES, he babies George with no hesitation and has so much patience for when George and Sapnap are fighting. He is so willingly there for George whenever he needs it and the dynamic is just beautiful.

Tommy: 40/10 Hillarious. Tommy and George have this dynamic where it’s like George is the family friend of SBI that Tommy just terrors the entire time and George just accepts it. George will terrorise Tommy back sometimes and it’s so funny to watch

Tubbo: 35/10 George has a lot more patience for Tubbo than he does for Tommy and you can tell he is a lot more apprehensive about teasing him. Their dynamic is mainly Tubbo teasing George and George just going with it innocently because everyone loves Tubbo

Philza: 20/10 (please idk what these ratings mean) Phil is literally the dad who treats their kids’ friends as their own children and I love it. They’d never really spoken before MCC 12 but Phil still became an exasperated dad towards George and his weird conversation topics towards Wilbur. Plus whenever George wants anything, Phil is the first to try and get it for him e.g. the tomato to throw at Dream.

Fundy: 25/10 We haven’t seen much but what we have seen is *chefs kiss* like that chess game and the whole situation with the glitch was incredible and George’s exasperated ‘you’re so annoying’ was peak friendship.

Ranboo: 30/10 Ranboo barely even knew George and instantly took roasting him into his stride, their dynamic is so fun to watch

Ninja: infinity/10 I mean they’re married

Eret: 20/10 Not many interactions but the ones they have had have been very comfortable with eachother, not afraid to joke around

Techno: 25/10 Very confusing, they’ve spoken like three times yet in those three times they’ve acted like cousins who are meeting up again for the first time in a while. They tease eachother a lot and it’s obvious they’re making no effort to impress eachother as they already know where they stand

Callahan: 1000/10 YES YES YES Wholesome duo. When online Callahan is instantly drawn to George and George is more than happy to hang out with him and let Callahan take part in whatever project he has going on. George is very relaxed in Callahan’s presence and they have such a cute and fun dynamic

Punz: 40/10 They literally fight like family in the best way and Punz is very protective over George which I love. He has a lot of patience for the Dream Team’s antics and he is more than happy to help them out throughout it all

Antfrost: 30/10 Despite all the manhunts, I haven’t seen them interract as much as others however the interactions they do have are very relaxed. George has a lot more patience for Ant then he does for the other hunters and Ant is the only hunter who will happily wait up for George in a manhunt when George has fallen or is behind or has gotten distracted (again)

Skeppy: 20/10 We never get to see them interract that much despite George being in a lot of Skeppy’s videos, however they seem to have a friendly banter going on and their fake annoyance at eachother during escape rooms is so funny to watch

Schlatt: 15/10 Not that many interactions however the ones they have had have been very funny and have mainly consisted of them teaming up to bully Quackity

For the reimprisoned AU, do you think Techno would take no one coming back after him for awhile (more than three months because Phil can’t read 🙄), as like.. betrayal? Like obviously not totally at first but if Ranboo can’t do anything due to Michael and Niki & Phil are in a hard spot with their life counters + the prison being patched, there’s a very slim chance they’ll be able to get him out on their own (idk maybe Dream pitches in, the whole “I owe you one Techno!”) but yknow. Like, after awhile, especially with being with no one else except the voices, would it start to grate on him?

And also, because I’m a sucker for this kind of stuff. Do you think Quackity would come back and yanno. Limprist. Finish up that whole giving Techno a matching scar thing?

I don’t think Techno would take it as a betrayal, especially since he’d also be aware of the impossible circumstances his friends would be facing trying to get him out. As you say yourself, the prison would have been ‘patched’ by Sam immediately. A place that was designed to be impenetrable in the first place has now been modified to take away the few flaws Techno exploited to get in, flaws he was only aware of thanks to blueprints lost in the breakout attempt. Niki and Phil would be at a serious disadvantage even without Ranboo sabotaging them (against his will but still). Techno might not expect them to break him out any time soon if AT ALL since he has personal knowledge of how secure Pandora’s Box was /before/ Sam reinforced it.

However the voices would definitely start grating on him and since meta-wise they can technically snitch on other people’s streams it’d be very interesting if they were somehow aware of Ranboo’s position and attempting to communicate that to Techno, but maybe they lack the full picture and it comes across as them telling Techno Ranboo betrayed him? Techno would probably not believe them but that seed of doubt would be there...

OR if we want to be really mean: Sam could be cruel enough to want Techno to think he has been betrayed, so he shows Techno evidence of Ranboo helping him but ‘conveniently’ leaves out the blackmail part. Heck, since Sam’s entire goal is to make Techno suffer as much as possible, what if we take that even further and Sam basically makes Ranboo his unwilling accomplice in torture. How long before Techno starts believing that Ranboo is in on it? How long before Techno starts believing he sacrificed everything for a person who doesn’t give two shits about him and thinks he’s a monster that deserves to be locked up? How long before Techno starts believing maybe Ranboo being in the prison and taking off his armor were all part of some big plan against him?

Dream pitching in is... a possibility? Kinda depends on if we wanna think he’d be loyal enough to consider repaying Techno’s favor. But he’d be hard pressed to work WITH the Syndicate since none of the members like him and Phil still has taken Tommy into his protection, and if they’re having a hard time as a team Dream alone won’t stand a chance.

QUACKITY, MY LOVE, I definitely want to incorporate him but I need to be on the lookout for his upcoming lore. Hasn’t he cut ties with the prison? Kinda? Bringing him back for some more good old techno torture would be TASTY but also Sam’s got that covered in this au (lol) and it’d be equally interesting to put Quackity on the other side for once. Maybe he’s realizing how bad the whole prison thing has been for his mental health and he wants to break the cycle of revenge and move on. And hey, what better way to do that than to literally break a guy whose guts you’ve hated for the longest time out of jail?

Apritello Express Evidences, part 1

Greetings, Apritello enthusiasts and attention! Here comes a loong post is written by totally nerd. You've been warned. Here we go.

The thing is that Apritello is a double-edged sword. The series shows us established friendship of these two, give us a lot of content with them. We can see development of relationship through interaction between the characters, their reaction about the situations they are put in. We can sense their synergy and bound through the show.

Donnie and April have incredible chemistry, and both options, brotp and otp seems fine to me.

But let me tell you why I ship them.

Apritello is the kind of pairings, which consists of small details, hints, that's hidden, but if you're sharp and attentive one, you will notice that. Apritello has a strong foundation: the best friends trope.

And from the very beginning, it works as planned.

When I start watching show, I could say that April and Donnie are best friends. It is worth noting that April is like an older sister to the other brothers, more of a sisterly figure than a friend, but with Donnie she behaves somewhat differently, namely, as best friend. Obviously, she sets him apart from his brothers, although girl tries to pay attention to all of them equally. And Donnie behaves as well.

Dee's battle shell designs for April needs as well as his. His shell transform into comfy spot for taking ride for April. Special and only for her. Because his bros are not supposed to use it (at least, he carries no one on his back), Donnie carries them by his techno-bó or his limbs.

This tiny detail shows his special treatment to her. April is a very, very special occasion to D. Don does care about her comfort, he accept the way she is. Donatello does not try to prevent her from participating in their affairs because he respects her decisions and is pleased that April can be shoulder to shoulder with him.

D is glad to be at her service.

Yeah, Dee's still playing cool, he has image to perform as tough and coolheaded guy. So Don doesn't show his intentions, interest and feeling to other people (he's tryin', but fails). Because his actions matter. They are always small, hidden, but meaningful.

April, in return, trusts Dee and depends on his tech, even knowing what his inventions are the opposite of success (usually).

Go on. Look at Donnie's facial expressions and body language when April is near.

Donnie seems more relaxed when she's around, happier. His emotional response is always different from his brothers ones.

Oh, and look, he wanted to be first to give her a high three.

They worry about each other. Look at Don. He does worry about her way more than his brothers. Yeah, they all want to protect her, but Donnie is more expressive.

Mayham has no particular sympathy for the brothers: he is afraid of Raph and behaves aggressively, he is indifferent to Leo and Mikey. Mayham immediately takes a liking to April. And then the details come back: he let Donnie touch his neck. The most vulnerable place for any living creation, for a second. Let him to study an important vial without any hesitation. Mayham depends on April trust for Donnie. When everything goes wrong for Don, the little doggie comes to his rescue, just as April would have done. Is the hint transparent enough?

We can see links with "A mystic library", wherе Donnie begins to look for solutions to save April's pet. Yes, this may seem like his next leap, "sit down, I'm smart, and now I'll solve all the problems, watch and learn," but Don says one phrase that opens up the veil of the second plan, what happens behind the scenes. "My illiteral colleagues and I was conducting a mustic research, with a life of the beloved pet, hanging in a bounce".

Strange wording, Donatello. Beloved pet? Not yours, as we can see. I can say, that everything in this sentence is true, but Donnie and Mayham has something more.

Continue. Next episode "Origami tsunami". Interactions are kept to a minimum, as April herself appears for a maximum of 5 minutes in the series itself. But devil is always in the details, dear friends.

When April was attacked and hung up, the only one who excitedly called out to her was Donny. Raph is furious that the thieves have escaped, Leo is frustrated that their plan has failed, and Mikey is worried about the salami.

Yeah, we didn't see his worries about her when she fell, because Donnie is on the mission and must be coolheaded turtle, and second, he's calm because now April life is safe and sound, out of the danger.

Dear passangers, Apritello Express arrives to the next station - episode "War and Pizza".

Bare facts:

1. April has Donnie's number on an emergency call.

2. "Anything for you"

3. Donnie is the reason why Alberto knows April's name.

No one calles April by her name (except for Donnie, while phone call, but Alberto wasn't nearby) it was "Captain O'Neil" by her chief, her badge seems blank. And yeah, you can say, that's just economy of budget, but I assure you: in the first episode we were shown the name of the delivery guy. The animators were not lazy bones and wrore "Stewart" on his badge. So if something isn't there, then it either shouldn't be there, or it really isn't, that's how this show works.

So, the reason explained in the episode. When Al has short circuit, parts of its new code flashed through its mind.

Info about April was in its memory, in its code. Alberto was a lame animatronic, and it seems somewhat outdated. I do really doubt about Alberto is being something smartass machine with complicated AI like Freddy's Pizza's ones. Quite questionable. Donatello fix Al's brain and wrote code, synchronize with his remote control. He put information about Cap O'Neil into animatronic's head. All this pictures are kind of massage: "You was created for birthday celebrations. You are machine, and there concepts of "life" and "birth". Do great party for this birthday kid and April won't be like this". Or, something like that.

So Alberto did - do a memorable party. And he do what his creator programmed him to do, but in his way.

4. In other words, Alberto was a tool to impress April. Don flaunts himself in front of her, stating how he did the upgrade while doing the upgrade, even though April is fully aware of his tech wizard. And his abilities supposed to help Cap O'Neil to finish the birthday party, so she will stay at her job, not fired. All thanks to Donnie and his upgrade Alberto. (Or not)

By the way, Donnie was the last to leave April in ruined "Alberto's". And it's not an isolated case, it is a pattern.

5. They understand each other without words.

First, Donny came at her at the speed of light. Second, she hadn't even finished speaking before Dee was taking Al apart. Third, their chaotic, well-coordinated work? Donnie was a distraction (although he wanted to just take a break from the battle or let Alberto's guard down, while April just knocked him out). Donnie and April are great team, and sometimes the DonniexApril team is much more precise, coordinated, and interdependent than the DonniexBrothers one.

D&A feel each other and anticipate each other's actions, their skills complement each other, creating an incredible synergy of their interaction. They act as a whole, while it's not always possible with his brothers, even though they're family and know each other the way more Donnie know April. And Dee hasn't trained with cap O'Neil.

Donatello didn't show his crush for April. No puppy, loving eyes, no lovey-dovey speeches, no planning schemes (at least, the audience don't see one) . He just want her attention, but stays cool and hidden. D is already her BFF, but still.

The same thing is claimed in 5B episode - Mascot Melee. Donnie has no problems with interaction with idol of his childhood - Atomic Lass. She'd put Leo in a stupor, but Donnie? He playfully challenges her to a dance duel. Yes, he adores this character, who may have become his measure of the attractiveness of others to Donatello, determined his type. But still, he's playing all cool and confident guy, he's really smooth with girls, so you will never see a puppy loving eyes from him. Only two things can betray him at this point: his voice and his body language. Remember, how's soft his voice became for Atomic Lass? Now I want you to remember the scene before, in turtle tank, when April sent guys a meme.

D is the first to respond to the message, despite the fact that Mikey is sitting closest to the screen. And the responding is a little too emotional for this situation, don't you think?

And this face of his. And he comments it. He likes her sense of humour.

The only difference between April and Atomic Lass is that the first one is a real girl who is a friend of their family, practically a member of it; and the other one is just a fictional character. It is easier to say about love for a fictional character, because it brings less problems for a teenager, especially when he is living with three brothers and a father who likes to tease as well. Donatello needs to be careful and outline the area of emotions he could show, so that he does not get hurt.

Now, dear passangers, we are returning to the previous episode, shall we?

Donnie presents to his brothers his precious Turtle tank, but she's gone, and it's really necessary to find out, who has taken her. And the first person to suspect is April.

Something is odd, don't you think? Yeah, Raphael has taken tyre for their "Midnight special", Leo claimed that Donnie's stuff is common, but they are D's beothers. It's natural for family to borrow(stole) stuff of each other. But this trend was not observed in April. She would never steal anything from Donnie, much less steal anything from him.

Actually, there is a good, logical and solid explanation here. April was number 1 in Donatello' suspect list, because he simply told her about Turtle tank. His brothers didn't know he were working at Moon buggy, except Mikey (Orange helps Dee get the vehicle from Repomantis), but they didn't know what exactly Donnie was working for. They didn't know he build the Turtle tank, he kept it a secret, to surprise his brothers. But April knew.

- Alright you! Where's our turtle tank?

- Hi, DONNIE. You have 9 seconds to say, why are you just broke my door.

- Someone's stole Donnie's turtle tank.

- Haha-ow, I see. As your best friend, you naturally suspect me.

- She gets it!

- Oh-ho, don't give me that! You're the only one could taken it!

The only one, because she knew about it.

As Splints said in this episode - "April is not a snitch"

Donatello does trust April and share with her both, sorrows and joys. But we are not shown this directly. We do not see the action itself, we do not see their calls and conversations on the phone late at night, we only see the consequence. We have no choice and take it as a given.

And the way she cooled him down? Fast, efficient, and Donnie seems to used to it. Moreover, she slapped everyone, but still, she throw Don out of window the last. However, why such a large time delay between him, being slapped and him, was throwing out of the window?

And my favourite scene. It was obvious that Donnie had taken the hardest hit (judging by his scream and the way he was putting his knuckles back in place). Don then claims that their inner circle is secure, Mikey tries to make amends for everyone, and April agrees, blowing them a kiss and closing the window. Cute and mean, isn't it? (You're cute! but mean! why do I always go for your type?! - ep. War and Pizza)

Nota bene: Donnie wouldn't apologize to April. Tough, not caring badass boy image, remember? Even to best friends. It's hard to him to express his feelings by using words, he cannot do it in proper way. But he has Mikey, who is so alike inner him. Michelangelo apologizes not only for himself, but for D mostly, because D starts suspected April.

Let's continue: the episode 8B: Hypno Part Deux

• Donnie put "Donnie's blocker" at April's phone to protect her.

It's common thing that your friend install some programs or apps on your device. But you will always ask your friend to do such a favour, and you will always know about what, when and where were installed on your phone.

And April didn't know Donnie had done something with her phone. It was a real surprise for her, to see blocker with "Donnie says no-no-no".

And you know, the interface of his app. The way he tell this current phrase. Donnie could put a huge banner "THE APP YOU WANT DOWNLOAD TO IS A REAL PIECE OF GARBAGE", as usual antiviruses do. But no, voice interface. It makes the app more personal and thoughtful. Because when Don made gifts for his brother, the program was voiced by a computer-generated female voice. Yes, the tank's interface is voiced by Donatello himself, but his voice sounds more like Google than the real Don. And, we talking about HIS BABEY, for a second. Bit still, the point remains.

• Also, Dale.

Dale is nerdy boy in purple, wow, how convenient for making a parallel with certain purple turtle.

But thing is, April doesn't like Dale. He's clingy, remora guy, who has a little obsession with April, even he's not harmful, still, such behaviour freaks girls (and not them only) out. Her classmate is usually tell her what April O'Neil is "his favourite person" and he loves her. There is little that is attractive about this behavior.

So, there is nothing new and unpredictable here that Dale was rejected. Because April didn't, doesn't and won't like him because of his lame personality and strange behaviour. Our girl in yellow do right thing: she clearly sets personal boundaries and does not allow any dubious personalities to invade them. So that's the reason she refuses to go on a date with him at the end. He's weird, obsessed, and she doesn't like him.

Donatello, as far as I concerned from different versions of TMNT, was always a little obsessive with some things. And, you know, putting a blocker inside your best friend's phone seems a little weird, because it's, in simple words, violation of privacy and personal space. And there are people who may regard this as stalking or sorta.

Yeah, for the most part, he gets away with it, not only because April's focus is in a different area, but also because their bond is stronger than April's with anyone else at school.

She has known him for years. Donnie is her best friend. I can't say that it's fine to her when Dee violates her personal space - her phone, but April can accept Donatello's personality in general.

And he does really have good intentions. Donnie installed this blocker, developed by himself only for one reason: to protect personal space April from fishy apps from nowhere, from being hacked and etc. Don knew her too well, how much she depends on stupid apps that will distract her. He also knew well, that he can't be with her 24/7 to fix problems with April's phone, so Dee put a part of himself to prevent any harm in the future.

And again, "Donnie's gifts"'s vibes. Donatello genuinely cared about April, because he wrote, coded, developed, designed, and dubbed it, turned on the database, and installed it all on April's phone. 'cause, you know, writing programs in general is a bit of a hassle, but writing an antivirus is much more difficult, because viruses are changing, and questionable applications are finding ways to bypass. Do you feel how much effort Dee put in for her?

But Donatello didn't mean to fix April, as he tried to do with his brothers. Purple turtle accepts this girl the way she is, and tries his best to play smoothly with April, by adjusting, not being passive aggressive jerk. It's his outstanding way to show his caring nature, soft side.

Remember, small but meaningful actions.

Maybe, Donnie also can foresee that April may be forced to download some suspicious program, but still, it work: he managed to prevent April being hypnotized, even if couldn't be physically with April at the this moment - Dee was working for Repo Mantis, building dog's paradise for Todd. That's why, by the way, Leo and Raph were dragged into this whole situation. Mayham would teleported literally anyone to help his hostess. Donnie just wasn't at the Lair at the moment.

Three whole people said they would be interested in an analysis of c!Dream and c!Techno’s relationship, so we’re doing this! All names in this post will refer to the role play characters. As always, if you feel like I overlook or misinterpret anything please feel free to share your opinion!

Follow up post here on how Dream is cautious of Techno and why he is right to be.

This boils down to how Dream and Techno work under normal circumstances, the anomaly that was the bedrock bros, and how Dream pushed the pieces back into place.

When I started watching the Dream SMP I thought Dream and Techno’s relationship was built on three things. Mutual respect, willingness to work together when their goals lined up, and weariness for a day when their goals might not coincide that kept them from trusting each other completely. Even as we started to see how manipulative Dream was capable of being, it seemed like he was too cautious of Techno to try to use him like he did most characters. I didn’t realize there was more to it until the second festival.

First, let’s look at how Dream controls most of the SMP. Threats of violence (the obsidian walls), friendly overtures (befriending Tubbo and recognizing L’manburg’s sovereignty), supplying resources (commissioning Sam for the prison), and straight up emotional abuse (Tommy in exile). None of these would be too effective against Techno, but I think Techno was squarely on Dreams side of the board until the Bedrock Bros team up. Dream doesn’t try to control Techno by trying to change what he wants or by forcing him into compliance. Instead, he understands Techno as a person and knows what he wants, and then manipulates the situation so that acting on those desires puts them on the same side.

Dream sees Techno as his rook. Rooks are straightforward and powerful but take some setup and time before they are at their most useful. After the revolution Dream waited to attack. He could have done it at any time but he waited for Techno to act because he understood his ideals and knew that he would. Techno had to strike first or Dream couldn't guarantee that they would be acting together. He whispered Techno to goad him on not because he wouldn’t have done anything otherwise but to build that trust of “oh look, we have the same goals again. I’m the only one who recognizes your dilemma here and I support you.” And it worked, they acted together through the fight with Dream shadowing and taking hits for Techno as he steamrolled through opponents. When the dust settled Techno barely recognized the other members of “Team Chaos,” but he gave Dream a stack of TNT to help as he continued to deepen the crater.

I mentioned this in another analysis, but Dream knew he wanted to finish L’manburg off way before he outwardly showed it. He knew Techno could be a useful ally to that end, but he had decided to retire to the north and swear off violence. Once again, Dream waited. He let L’manburg’s inevitable attempt to seek retribution pull Techno back in, and Dream was there to help him survive the fallout, setting himself up as someone with the same interests who Techno could rely on. Once again, Dream had his rook set up for a devastating blow when the time came to destroy L’manburg. But then Tommy ran from exile and took refuge with Techno.

For the first time (aside from when Dream fought for Schlatt, which was a fight he intended to lose), Techno was on the other side of the board and Dream couldn’t predict his movements. Techno blatantly lied to a man who had saved his life for someone who (from Techno’s point of view) had betrayed him by starting a government, admitted to wanting to use him to defend L’manburg and fight off Dream, and stolen from him.

Dream saw Techno as his rook. His movements were straightforward, he had his ideology and acted on it. But Techno doesn’t only move on vertical and horizontal lines, he can move diagonally. He’s not a rook, he’s a queen. Techno is incredibly loyal when he decides a person is worthy of his trust, and he shows that through his actions. Dream didn’t factor that into his plans because the only person Techno trusted up to that point would never ask him to compromise his ideals. This was a problem, Techno gave Tommy strength and confidence and Tommy made Techno unpredictable.

Dream resorted to his other methods of manipulation. He made friendly overtures to Techno, reminding him that he had always had his back. He threatened Tommy with the destruction of his disks. Nothing worked, Techno had decided to give his loyalty and Dream couldn’t break it, but he needed to or Tommy was beyond his reach. So, he had to go back to manipulating Techno’s circumstances. To put his chess board back in order, Dream needed Tommy to break Techno’s trust himself.

We’re finally to the second festival. L’manburg may have planned it, but it was Dream’s masterpiece. He used threats to take control from L’manburg immediately, then used the crowd gathered for the event to put pressure on them with the discovery of the destruction of the community house. Tommy was exiled for griefing so it wasn’t too much of a stretch to pin the crime on him. People were attached to the community house, and Dream claimed that by keeping the disk Tubbo was aligning himself with the person who destroyed it, protecting Tommy from consequences. Already, Dream had set himself up to get the disk or turn the rest of the server against L’manburg, but it was safe to assume Tommy and Techno would show up if only to keep tabs on the situation. Of course Tommy wouldn’t be able to take the accusations and threats in silence, one of his character traits is his impulsiveness and brashness.

The second Tommy stepped in he was going to lose Tubbo, the disk, Techno, or some combination of the three. Stepping away from impartiality, I think forgiving Tubbo and recognizing that he didn’t like the direction he was heading was one of the most mature and powerful things Tommy has ever done, on par with giving up the disks for his friends in the first place. I wish he had taken a second to think of Techno in the process though. Techno who had offered his trust having already been burned. Techno who had just jumped into a large group of enemies to defend him. Techno who watched Tommy drop him seconds after he decided he didn’t want the disk. Techno whose first reaction to rejection and betrayal has been to cling to the first person to affirm his beliefs (Wilbur after the festival, Dream after the revolution). Techno who just lost his only reason to hesitate before destroying the country that had promised to destroy him. And, well, “Techno, got any withers?”

Dream played his hand perfectly at the festival, the only thing that could have gone better would have been if Tommy ruined his relationship with Tubbo in the process of everything else. The chess board was back in order. There is a tragic irony to the fact that Dream is one of the only people on the server to understand Techno’s ideals, to really see him as a person, and Dream only bothers with that understanding so he can use him.

Pokemon i think the dsmp characters should have, based on my memory of any and all events lol (not a drawing req! i just wanna share my thoughts)

Technoblade: this man def owns an Emboar. He used to be a massive battle royale star, now he's retired and looks after lost pokemon in his homebrew day care.

Philza: I get the vibes that he'd own a Honchkrow or Dragonite. Used to team with Techno, now he also helps with the homebrew day care.

Wilbur: Mismagius or Froslass for no other reason than I think Ghost would fit him. Philza gave him the pokemon bc he found it while doing whatever when it was a little baby.

Tommy: Cinderace, Gallade, or Zangoose. Cinderace bc he has those vibes, Gallade bc I think one would simply join him voluntarily, and Zangoose just bc I like Zangoose.

Tubbo: Skiddo/Gogoat from Schlatt (slowly places the headcanon of schlatt being a father figure to tubbo in ur hands), Snorunt bc that bitch was difficult as hell to catch in pokemon ranger, bouncing all over the place, smh. Probably grows to be part of the elite four.

Ranboo: Yanmask/Runefigarus. Mask gang. Occasionally helps Techno's day care.

Dream: this man owns a seviper for the pure reason tommy's Zangoose doesn't like seviper. Other than that, probably Empoleon. I think he might an Elite 4 who wants to be Champ, but only for the reason of being corrupt. The exile arc still happens, just slightly different.

BBH: Grimmsnarl or Mimikyu. Grimm bc i like Grimm, Mimikyu bc I think it fits. He's probably an admin for an evil team and incredibly joyous about it.

Schlatt: Machamp and Hydreigon, raised explicitly to be competitive. Some poison/steel type (Nidoking?) to even out the Dragon is weak to Fairy thing. They are all raised and given EV/IV training explicitly for battling. I'd consider him like Cynthia only bc he'd train all the time, but with the attitude of Giovanni. Probably the leader of an evil team. Gave Tubbo the Skiddo, uhhhhh, dunno why lol

Eret: i think he deserves a legendary. let's give them reshiram. perfect. chin up, monarch. your crown is sliding down. Miotic for normal pokemon.

Quackity: Armaldo or Bisharp, with the fancy coin item to give you more money after battles.

Purpled: Deoxys for the alien theme, Starmie also for the alien theme but less mythic pkmn.

Puffy: Wooloo and a Delphox. Floof,,,,, def a pirate theme bc it just fits Puffy. Probably an elite four member bc she deserves it. Valid. Incredible. Showstopper.

Niki: Lumineon, Raichu, and a Houndoom. She'll make it work. Probs a very end-game gym leader who 100% is incredibly hard to beat. Houndoom was probably a gift from Wilbur. Good for her. Amazing. Wonderful. Can sometimes be seen helping Techno--- they all get together for book club on Saturdays :]

hello tumblr i present my canon-compliant "DSMP But... Everybody Discovered Large-Scale Organised Religion" mianite au which took a few hours to write up oops. basically here is a list of which god everybody would follow and why, based on canon events (i have therefore left out a couple of the members who don't really do lore or be on the server much because i definitely don't know about them enough to be accurate!)

dream: mianite. obsessed with control, you get it. went too far though and developed his own obsession with controlling the server so he is now godless and in jail

tommy: dianite. tommy is a favourite of dianite's - he's idealistic with a penchant for chaos, and like i said in my other post dianite probably sees himself in tommy a little. they're both misunderstood as Bad People

tubbo: ianite -> dianite, he converts post-doomsday. grew up as a follower of ianite and trying to follow her path put added pressure on him during his presidency. embraces being a dianitee with the start of the nuke program, but he keeps all his ianitee family heirlooms. ianite still holds a soft spot for him because of his family and occasionally gives him minor blessings. that being said she's of course a little disappointed he chose to change gods, but respects his decision

ranboo: no god, but enderwalk ranboo is an acolyte of ianite; awakeboo eventually converts to ianite when he reads awakeboo's note and decides to become more active in conflict resolution. he realises ianite actually aligns with his newfound ideals, and is of course more in touch with his ender side. however prior to this he wasn't really very keen on worshipping any gods, seeing as all he saw from them was wars waged in their names.

wilbur: also an atheist. probably prayed to dianite during pogtopia ("dream, i want to be your vassal" type beat) but other than that he's the type to criticise organised religion and be an independent leader, no need for gods. wilbur and ranboo narrative foils my beloveds!!!

techno: ianite. the thing about c!techno is he has one goal and he will stick to that no matter what - it's not total order, but it's not chaos either because there is motivation and reasoning behind it. also, a core tenet of ianitee ideology is not involving yourself in conflict until somebody personally wrongs you. much like butcher army era techno where he retreats to a peaceful (more godly, in this case) life until he's hunted down, at which point he Fucks Shit Up. in general techno holds grudges and takes even slight betrayals very seriously.

phil: ianite. i can see antarctic duo as former warriors of ianite! idk i don't have much to say phil is just.. a chill old warrior. probably jaded and tired of fighting wars for his goddess, but he still prays to her. specifically he prayed every night that wilbur could finally find balance in the afterlife. :)

niki: also ianite. definitely. niki values her own beliefs and morals, she's her own independent self. maybe she was a mianitee pre-nov 16th, but not since then. this makes the syndicate pretty much just a secret squad of ianitees (+ ranboo who everyone kind of just assumes is an ianitee given that, yknow, enderman). this is extra fun with the syndicate table being an end portal

sam: mianite 10000000%. he puts his commitment to duty above all else. not really much more to say he is just fully committed to keeping the server safe by carrying out mianite's will and imprisoning dream.

foolish: he's a god himself, so he doesn't follow any of the main three. however in the past he did work with mianite, enforcing his control over the land. from what we know about his totem of death period it wasn't like.. wanton destruction, it was him seeking control through violence, so i'm not inclined to say he worked with dianite back then.

george: man just wants to sleep and farm wheat, he's mianite. ez.

sapnap: also mianite. dream team as mianite's strongest and most revered knights!!!!!!

puffy: she's a pirate lady i don't know what to tell you other than she was part of capsize's crew. ianitee pirate ladies i care you. plus i feel like puffy centres mostly on people and not allying herself with specific nations or causes, she believes in balance above all.

eret: i view the greater dsmp as a mianitee nation, so as king of it they obviously have to follow mianite. eret has always strove to be a good king and help their nation prosper. plus, who knows what went on in the past with foolish. former mianite warriors eternal duo? i think so! (i think it would be cool if a literal reincarnation of herobrine was a mianitee purely because it fucks with everybody's expectations)

quackity: dianite. not just because he's chaos incarnate at times but like his entire current arc is so reminiscent of the fact that s2 dianite was literally a businessman. rip ghost dianite you would've loved c!quackity

fundy: oh boy here's a complex one. fundy switches gods frequently - look how much he craves acceptance from authority figures, from a substitute parental figure. i think right now his prophetic dreams could be interpreted as him being chosen by a certain god who sees potential in him, but i can't say who bc we don't really know too much about them or even why he's suddenly having them. that being said his chaotic scamming foxboy side definitely embodies dianite and he should have stuck with dianite the entire time but nah he needs Validation

jack manifold: follows dianite, but dianite isn't really pleased with him trying to kill tommy so often (seeing as he likes tommy). this is why he has such comically bad luck. his god is continually fucking with him.

karl: ianite, specifically chosen by her to become the historian of the server. the purple theme.. the duty to write down history as it truly happened (as opposed to censoring history like a certain mianite did). the existence of both the in between and the other side. karl Is balance. thank you. (also this makes karlnapity's marriage one mianitee, one ianitee and one dianitee. diversity win!)

schlatt: mianite (derogatory)

the eggpire is pretty much just the darkness isn't it. mianite was the blueprint actually.

bbh: dianite at first, judging by the badlands' ideology. corrupted by the darkness though.

antfrost: also dianite, but probably really lowkey about it and only ever prayed when the badlands needed his blessings. again, corrupted now

hannah: mianite - her connection to nature is by extension also a connection to mianite, the god of the overworld. plus she cared about maintaining harmony on the server and went to lengths to ensure it like the whole "killing her own dogs to protect them" thing. currently on her corrupted girlboss arc though

punz: dianite, he likes money and killing people idk what more you expect from me. even after joining the eggpire this has not changed at all. he'll work for other gods' followers for the right price but he's not changing his core beliefs

ponk: i don't know very much about him i'm ngl, especially not pre-eggpire. prior to his corruption though i do kinda like the idea of a mianitee doctor doing fucked up little experiments idk he just has mianitee vibes to me in the same way tucker was a mianitee.

skeppy: he and bbh are obviously both dianite together prior to the egg. it simply would not be right of me to put him anywhere else.

purpled: ianite. the colour purple... the tendency to stay so far out of conflict that he doesn't even log onto the server... mans was born to be an ianitee actually

Who is the most powerful member on the DreamSMP? If Niki was given a gun the answer would be Niki Nihachu.

Ranboo and Foolish are the richest and money does equal power however I don't think they're the most powerful. They can get favours but nobody sees them as a threat meaning they have no actual power. You smile at Ranboo and he's out. You mention Catmaidbomb and Foolish starts crying. Easy win.

Sam has control over the person with the most power however he has Dream physically not mentally. He doesn't know Dream meaning he has power over Dream but he doesn't have Dream's power meaning it's not him. Sam is also overpowered by his emotions meaning he can easily be manipulated (Egg and Quackity being two examples)

Techno hasn't ever been the most powerful on the server money wise or power wise. His strongest ally and both of their reputations is what gave him power over people but it didn't last long. People have quickly started to see through Techno and his hypocrisy. His tunnel vision towards Tubbo prevents him from gaining any actual power.

Dream is the most powerful in terms of power and control. However he's repetitive and predictable. He wants chaos meaning he'll side with which ever side he can use to cause damage. However both he's an obvious powerhouse meaning he can't use power as a shock/fear factor.

Quackity has control over Sam who has control over Dream who still even in prison has power however Quackity has too many attachments meaning he has multiple weaknesses and that makes him an easy target.

Jack hell and back Manifold has power but he doesn't know how to use it basically making it useless. He has knowledge that nobody else has(unless Niki uses her time as lore) meaning he has valuable information making him sought after but that's temporary.

In my opinion the strongest and most powerful person on the server is Punz. Nobody sees him as a threat even though he's the one who stuck with Dream the longest, he's part of the Eggpire, he is technically still a knight for Eret (and George). He doesn't have a side which makes him useful for anyone. He's a mercenary meaning he'll team with whoever makes the better offer however he's not obligated to remain on their side. Punz is by far the most unpredictable person. He has the advantage of no known attachments (known by the members obviously he has attachments people just canonically don't know about them). Punz can flex a lot of things that few others can. He took 2/3 of Wilbur's canon lives. He helped prevent Techno's execution meaning he could get a favour from Techno. He has a lot if not the most knowledge out of everyone since he Dream has told him secrets that only they know, He knows Eggpire related secrets, he has a lot of general things to hold over people's head like he was the reason Tommy managed to make an enderchest to hide the discs in the first place creating the first disc war win. The badlands before the Eggpire wanted Punz on their side for power purposes. He helped create/design L'manberg twice, Mexican L'manberg, Badlands etc.

TLDR: Punz isn't seen as a threat even though he's on par with Dream and Techno making him unpredictable and dangerous. He also has no allegiance but you can buy a temporary alliance if you have enough money. Punz has no loyalty and no known weaknesses making him incredibly powerful. He's the only person to never lose a war, he's the only person to fight in a war and benefit from it. King shit.

Dream Team - crime AU

Bare with me okay:

I also have an idea to continue this if you want more

Imagine somewhere in the world, a city, so full of corruption and violence and death, riddled with dirt and grime and poverty. A city that's run by no one, full of chaos and crime. Where the rich con the poor into believing they are good people who want them to thrive and work amongst them, when in reality the poor stay poor and the rich stay rich.

The local police force are drowning trying to keep the criminals at bay, robberies and murders left and right, more and more young naïve police officers die on duty every year thinking they can be the one to save the city from the shambles it has become.

Then a new type of chaos comes to town

At first the police think it's the return of the long dormant gang member techno

But then they spot a large spray painted smiley face on the wall in the warehouse of one of the largest drug trafficking rings in the city, every single worker slaughtered

The police think it's a one off when no trace of a new smiley face or even any indication that this mystery murderer exists until a new one is drawn on every single crime scene the police investigate for the next two weeks

Some thought he was a vigilante, a hero in disguise who came to the city to save them, to do what the police never could

That was, until a mysterious man walks into the local police station with a loaded gun ,wearing a white mask that is strangely similar to the ones that have been cropping up all over the city

Some officers actually lower their weapons with the belief that he’s here to turn in another wanted criminal

Oh how wrong they were

He fires without mercy and efficiently, every single shot hits its target

He waits, only for a moment, he stands in the middle of the room, corpses around him and footsteps approaching

He swiftly draws his pistol, taking out 3 of the 4 cameras in the room, and he turns to face the last, a smile drawn on his face

“We haven't formally met. My names Dream”

He talks to the camera like he's performing for it, for the viewers that aren't even watching. He talks with passion and emotion, like he's doing this whole thing to entertain. He continues without pausing, almost as if this whole thing was scripted to give the perfect performance.

“Although, most of you were delusional enough to call me a vigilante. Look, I get it, no hard feelings. But you have to understand, I can't just let this slide. I've got a reputation to uphold here, and I'm clearly not getting the recognition that I deserve!”

He seems like he's filled with genuine anger, he waves his loaded pistol around as he talks with his hands. Good thing everyone else was already dead, he could accidentally shoot someone with the way he aimed it around like it wasn't even there.

“You think these pigs could have taken down those vermin, I accomplished in a week what they haven't been able to do in almost a decade! I should be feared! Not praised for murder! But no, instead I get compared to these disgusting things! And I'm afraid I just can't stay silent anymore. So today I've prepared a little something for you all to enjoy, all with a little help from my pals.”

He knows that nobody's watching, not yet. It would have been easy enough to broadcast the event live, but there were too many risks that higher forms of law enforcement would get involved too quickly. Not that he wouldn't be able to get away from all the hassle, but being interrupted wasn't something the man was fond of. Despite the lack of a current audience, he knew he had to put on the theatrics, he needed a little something to liven up the 10 o'clock news.

He steps back from the overhead camera, and allows another masked man come into frame.

He's dressed in all black, a panda face mask covering the bottom half of his face, revealing his wide eyes, contrasting the covering of dreams mask. And an orange bandana around his hairline, keeping his brown locks out of his line of sight. He also wore a large gun strapped to his back and knife holsters scattered across his frame.

Dream introduces him to the camera as Sapnap, the man who has been killing corrupt businessmen all over the city, leaving a little card with a pandas face at the scene of every crime. He knows everyone knows who he is. He's the reason the rich are so afraid of one another.

Sapnap eyes the camera, twiddling a knife between his fingers. He doesn't say anything, his menacing glare says enough.

Dream laughs to the camera like it's a comedy show, before another man steps into frame, he's not as light footed as sapnap was, not quite as intimidating either. He's dressed in bright colours that don't quite seem to match. He waves at the camera with a big toothy grin and you can see the tiny ceiling camera in the reflection of what appears to be coloured sunglasses. You could most definitely identify him, even with the terrible quality of the camera his features would still stand out enough for officials to figure out who this guy was. But then again, it didn't really seem like these guys were going for stealth.

Dream then takes note of the device the other man was holding and holds it up for the camera to see like he was doing them a favor by letting them get a closer look.

“My good friend George here has made a little device that allows us to control which cameras are on, and which, are completely useless. It's like having our own personal studio isn't that right guys.”

Sapnap doesn't react, just stands there and continues playing with the knife in his hands. But you can see his face creased in ways that look like a smile beneath the mask. Maybe the cold faced killer act is really just that, an act.

George however smiles like dream had just given him a million dollars. He looks manic in the way it reaches his eyes with such pure joy. And he wines with a laugh trying to get the device out of the masked man's hand, telling him to be careful. Dream too smiles and carefully hands back the device to George as if this wasn't a crime scene at all.

Dream suddenly takes note of the furious banging at the metal doors just out of view of the camera and his eyes wander to them for just a moment, almost as if the noise had startled him, even though it had been there all along.

“Oh, I almost forgot.” He reaches behind his back and lifts the larger gun from his shoulders, aiming it at the door on the left, while sapnap finally holsters the knife and aims his loaded gun at the right. Dream then looks back at the camera, a smile still ever present on his masked face. “It can also lock doors. I mean come on guys, it's what you get for building everything on something that can be hacked. Who really needs electric doors anyway, not these guys that's for sure. They're about to be dead in just a second. Come on let's count it down shall we. You ready George.”

George bounces excitedly as dream moves to stand in front of him, gun still aimed at the barricaded officers, he clutches the device in his hands and beams with an ecstatic tone “Ready dream!”

“Sapnap, you ready.”

Sapnap makes a sharp exhale of breath come out his nose, almost as if he was laughing at the statement. Dream takes the small snicker as an affirmative to continue and the masked man starts counting

Chapter 5: Rocky Road

Techno certainly didn’t expect Tubbo’s sudden outburst. Still Techno sort of expected bitterness towards the human.

The droneling marched off presumably to go to the garden. He shoved Wilbur out of the way and continued speaking gibberish.

“What’s with Tubbo?” The phantom asked, casting worried glances towards the door.

“He just threatened the human.” Techno said as if it wasn’t the most stupid move on Tubbo’s part. Wilbur’s eyes grew wide and he attempted to run to the holding cell, only to be stopped by Techno’s hand on his shoulder. The phantom sighed before turning towards the guard.

Silently the pair made their way to the common room. Flicking on the illusion projector, and turning the channel with the ISF news. Techno opened a novel not paying any mind to the news reporter who was going over the case that Techno had just escaped.

There weren't any further advances on the story other than what they knew. The ship had crashed on Omar, a nature preserve, which led the ISF to find eight human bodies and twelve recognized crew members. Though there were fourteen to begin with, not that the news knew that of course. The ship was also deemed as a poacher ship and not much else was discovered.

After the story was covered a different news reporter came on screen. He was shifting his papers nervously and glanced down every so often. This caused Techno to close his novel and pay attention to the illusion.

“Just one day ago, one of the Dream Team crew members quit.” The news reporter took a shaky breath before continuing, “Today the crew has reported that the ex-crew member had taken one of the humans they were using for testing.” A picture of Tommy appeared on screen, “This is what the human looks like. We advise citizens to be on the lookout for this man,” a picture of Wilbur popped onto the screen, “and the human. If you see either one in public do not engage and immediately report it to one of your stationed guards.” The man finished and Wilbur immediately flicked off the TV.

Him and Techno shared a glance of pure shock. Wilbur shed a couple blue tears and immediately started panicking. The guard wrapped his brother until a tight hug and fought off the voices chants of “NOT SAFE”. Silence drew the pair into an unsteady atmosphere.

“Honestly that kid is a burden. I don’t know why you think we can take care of him.” A lady said, fury wasn’t hidden behind a fake smile at this point. The man standing next to her nodded silently.

“Ma’am, I don't understand what you’re saying.” Another lady responded, patience running thin.

Tommy held back the tears that were threatening to fall. His lip was already bleeding and his fingers felt raw. His bruises were itching uncomfortably under his tight shirt. He was starting to overheat, yet kept his jacket wrapped around him protectively.

“What I am saying is, we don’t want him, and I doubt anyone else will.” The lady started, “That kid is a nuisance. He makes our children look problematic, when in reality he is the problem child. I don’t understand how his parents put up with him for so long.” The lady finished.

“Only my mother put up with me,” Tommy thought, “my father couldn’t spare me a glance without yelling at me..”

He sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours before making the decision. The one that caused him to live on the streets.

He took his bag and sprinted out of the facility. He just kept running, nowhere to go and no money to use.

….

Suddenly it was a different night. He was sitting on a park bench looking at the stars. He was somewhere in Colorado, not sure how he made it here, but here he was. He breathed in the fresher air and pushed himself up.

He turned left then right then another left. At this point he was on one of those nature paths that seemed to be everywhere.

He sat in a field. Wasn’t it night?

A light and a huge gust of wind was the only response he got.

Then footsteps. A distant scream. Then cold sharp pain accompanied by a void of darkness.

He woke up in a cage..

He shot up in bed.. His head throbbed, but there was no point in sleeping it off.

So he got up. He hobbled over to the bookshelf and looked at the weird games and toys. His eyes fell on what he presumed to be a stack of cards and a pen of sorts.

It took an hour to label all the cards, but when he finally did he played a game of solitaire. Then another and another. By the time he finished the sixth one he was bored.

He went back to inspecting the bookshelf. The middle shelf had jigsaw puzzles.. didn’t Clem like puzzles?

He picked out what he presumed to be a flower field. There were a bunch of blue sunflowers.. wasn’t that her favorite flower?

Tommy sat on the floor creating a puzzle his sister would’ve absolutely adored. Silent tears slipped down his cheeks every once and a while. Only to be hastily wiped away.

His eyes felt like they were glued shut. They attempted to sit up only to find creaks in their back and neck.

After a minute he sat up. His mind was still foggy from sleep, but he made his way to the security office, ready to work through his sleep deprived state.

Before they even left the room Phil told them to go back to rest. Ranboo obliged, and closed his door.

Having no work left he decided to write down as much information as he could about both Earth and Tommy.

Surprisingly they were able to recall a lot of information from the night before. That usually didn’t happen..

Once they wrote an entire dictionary on both topics, they tried the door again.

Phil, once again stepped in front of them, “Mate, I really think you should rest.”

“I know, but I am hungry. Can I at least have lunch?” Ranboo felt like a child once again, but knew it always worked with the captain.

After Phil rolled his eyes, Ranboo practically skipped to the kitchen. He grabbed some of the leftovers from last night and popped it into the insta-heater. Making two plates of food.

After the food was ready he looked down either hallway. Phil was preoccupied with Wilbur in the common room. Deciding it was the best time to sneak to his friend, he made his way to the holding cell. Only to be stopped by none other than Techno himself.

“Oh! H-hi Techno..” Ranboo said awkwardly.

“What are you doing?”

“I-I was just getting Tubbo some lunch!” Ranboo cringed at their own lie. Only to be met with a raised eyebrow.

“Ok I was gonna visit Tommy.” Ranboo caved. That was the right answer as Techno nodded and let Ranboo pass.

“You’re only giving him lunch right?” Techno inquired.

“Er- that and talk a bit.. I mean that was my original plan.”

“Then I will stay with you.” Techno left no room for debate.

Ranboo nodded and approached the cell, setting the plate on the automatic tray. Techno stood in a small hallway allowing his presence only to be known to Ranboo.

Tommy was sitting on the floor putting together a landscape puzzle.

With what they saw, their curiosity intrigued them.

“Can I go in?” He asked first to Techno who shifted off of the wall.

“Only if I am in there.” Ranboo nodded and turned to Tommy who was busy with the puzzle.

Ranboo knocked on the window once. Tommy’s head shot up before the human stood up and approached the window.

“Hello!” Ranboo chirped, “I can see you’re working on a puzzle! I would love to help if you want? Me and my friend won’t go in if you don’t want me in there. But just so you know I brought lunch!”

Tommy stared at the enderian before answering. He was clearly debating the options.

“Only if Techno doesn’t talk.” Was the only response either got.

With that they grabbed the food and let the door open. Techno entered first, immediately going to the back chair and pulling out a novel. Ranboo handed Tommy a plate and sat next to the strange human.

It didn’t take them long for them to start rambling. Both about everything and nothing.

Surprisingly Ranboo lost all fear that should’ve been gripping them, and felt comfortable sitting with one of the most dangerous creatures in the galaxy.

“So people are looking for you?” The captain asked, impatiently tapping his foot against the metal floor.

“To put it simply, yea..” Wilbur said pretty much losing all confidence within the span of an hour.

The caption responded with a sympathetic look and wrapped his son in another tight hug. Wilbur didn’t pull away this time. He melted into comfort.

After a minute the elder pulled away, “How about you watch one of those documentaries you like. I will make some iced fluff and join you in a bit.” The phantom nodded and trugged himself over to the common room sofa. Turning on the illusion and flicking to one of the only things the ISF was allowing people to view from Earth, Netflix.

He skimmed the documentary section and came upon one that was about the Ocean. Three minutes later he was completely into it.

Phil returned with two bowls of iced fluff. Wilbur dug into the sweet treat. Phil sat next Will and wrapped a wing around him, to which Will leaned into the embrace.

“So what’s your favorite treat?” Ranboo asked, after he got another piece Tommy wasn’t able to get.

Tommy scoffed, mumbling about how he was just about to try that spot before answering the question, “I love Rocky Road Ice Cream. My mom made it without nuts so it is far superior to anything anyone would get from a store.” Tommy was satisfied with his answer and tried another piece.

“Hmm.. What is ice cream?”

“It’s a sweet frozen cream of sorts.”

“Oh so like iced fluff?”

“No idea, I would have to try it first..”

Both continued the conversation mumbling about other different foods and what not, before falling into a comfortable silence.

Tubbo was absolutely furious at the scene. He sprinted off to the garden where he slammed the door and melted to the floor.

When was the last time anyone had a conversation that was about everything and nothing with him?

He hated the fact he was jealous over a fucking human.

Tomorrow was the day he would prove the human wasn’t all he seemed to be. That the human was nothing more than a monster.
