Shittiest tiny fic draft for the zombie au ive been brainstorming… in my brain until now-
- death note zombie au, takes place after light regains his memories and is about to complete his plans to end L.. a zombie plague causes him to run (https://www.tumblr.com/possumproductions/743695287607066624/deathnote-zombie-au-what-if-in-response-to-kira for more info) - after 2 years of the apocalypse light finally returns to L looking to work together for a cure-
((Just had to get this out of my brain my god i wish i could say ill write more but who knows also no shade its sloppy pfft))
…..
“Well.. i cant say i saw this coming.”
Light kept his hands clasped together, fingers intertwined held on the back of his head. The masked figure stood with a gun pointed directly at lights chest, he heard his own breath catch in the silence… that voice…
“Light… Why are you here?”
There was a softness there, perhaps unintentional, but it was there.
The gun remained raised as the figure used his other hand to pull back the black mask, revealing stubble and eyes as dark as light could remember them, as if the years had been days.
“Hello L”
All he got back for that tepid response was an agonising sigh, his former enemy unable to control it.
“You better come in, a hoard will be here soon..”
The shriek of an alarm partnered with red flashing lights began just as L turned to walk inside, as if he’d activated them for effect.
Light stumbled forward, cautious yet determined to follow into the fortress.
He had little time to feel relief before the room turned pitch black, a large metal door slamming shut as soon as he passed its threshold.
“Ryusaki? What is this?”
A swift kick answered his call as Light fell to the floor with the unmistakable weight of a boot on his back. L pounced in the dark and locked Lights wrists into the oh-so-familiar shackles that clicked shut. He couldnt help it, he started chuckling at the irony, unable to contain himself in such a ridiculous moment. L grunted in anger, shoving him back down with a harsh jolt as he stepped back. The force cut light off and he managed to bite his own tongue, blood leaking out of his mouth and dripping onto the floor.
“Fuck, great to see you too!”
“Shut up.” L strode away up the metal steps that appeared as the overhead lighting flashed back on. Light just slumped in relief, feeling the cold metal on his cheek manage to stiffle the sharp pain in his mouth. This was still, out of all his previous imagined scenarios of the moment they met again, far far better than expected- for one thing L didnt shoot him, and he was inside away from the terror outside.
He gave L a good 15 minutes of peace, not wanting to risk his mind changing just yet. As he rolled on his side, he stretched and contorted to pull his arms under his legs and out in front of him. He felt like an old hat at this, the handcuffs barely causing trouble as he stood up smoothly. When he did eventually climb the stairs and round the corner to peer past the door frame, he saw L sitting beside what looked like a shuttered window. There was a pool of smoke lazily drifting to the crack in the glass, pulling it through and out into the evening air. He took another drag and spoke without looking at Light.
“Why… what are you doing here.”
It didnt sound like a question, or at least not one for Light to answer just yet, instead he offered his own.
“Arent you impressed i survived this long?”
Now it was Ls turn to laugh, he tried to cover it with a cough that got away from him, smoke spluttering out of his mouth.
“You never smoked before…” Light whispered.
L caught his breath, but then he turned to face Light as he spoke and the fond moment of familiarity disappeared, replaced with a cold expression of anger.
“Why. Are. You. Here.”
Light stepped back, cursing himself for retreating yet unable to hide it.
“I… well.” How the hell would he explain himself?
“Im waiting.”
Light paused, staring momentarily at the hands cuffed before him, looking up at the man who had continued to imprison and release him in an endless cycle.
“I need your help.”

Wally anon: Wait, I have to start this response by saying I watched Prom Pact (had started while drafting the last ask & kept getting distracted) & I actually really liked it dkddsm? Like, it was a Actual Movie, not just a Disney Movie™ with a clear plot & characters & doing what so many teen shows/movies in recent years have been unable to do with the romcom energy? (And ohhhhh my god, the possibilities for Ben. He is SO wildly different & Milo made a good case for why he should've been a film geek character in the newest Screams instead of Mindy (that's nothing against Jasmin Savoy Brown, she's funny as hell but the film geek writing given to her is often very. forced), just so much to think about 😵‍💫)
And if you flip him over on his back, gripping onto his hips while you're eating him out & looking him intently in his eyes, that drives him even c r a z i e r. He's panting, can't stop watching you, moaning your name, etc. completely lost to a guy smaller than him making him feel THAT good.
Exactlyyy (cause we know he can only keep up the roleplay for so long & those eye holes were a major deal breaker for him). Oh, I completelyyyy see it. 👀 It might be time for you to write something about it if you have that much of a thing for him wearing it. 🤭 (And you know when he's fucking you, he doesn't even fully take them off, he just slips the overalls down just. enough to stick his dick out)
Ugh, tell me about it. It's always "Think of the children" when 2 men just so happen to look each other's way, but if it's some truly weirdo dumbass shit between the hets they're mute. (Yupppp. Like, just be into what you're into, respectfully, & mind your business elsewhere cause literally nobody gaf like you do with trying to be in other people's business! Look in the mirror at the kinda shit you're into before pointing fingers around the gays (but no, they'd rather go down incel pipelines cause it can't. be their fault, never them) 🖕) Yessss. You're fully cockdrunk from the sheer force of both of them going at you at once & can barely register how. hot it's gotten since they've started cause you're thinking about how FULL you feel. And they'd absolutely have to carry you around everywhere after that cause you could not feel anything. down there after they're finished & make you cum so hard you pass out. 😮‍💨
You get it. 🙌 The only thing that would disappoint you about your investigating is that he can't fill you full of his ectoplasm even though he cums in you every time. 🥴
And that's where the vision of him as a killer comes in again. 😏 (Well, I'd say you lucked out pretty well with me if you want recommendations cause I have seen so. much; how much would you like me to send your way?)  Yup & the thing can't even die, just...hibernates until it's time to eat again. Very inventive creature design fr. (Hmm, I'd have to really think about who my favorite final boy is. I really like Darry, but know there are others I prefer as a result of, uh, not dying 🫣) Unfortunately so many things have relied on CGI as a crutch in recent memory, that much is certain. Saw II >>>> my favorite of the Saws fr.
omgggg Yes! I loveeeee UD. (I wish I got more out of TQ, there were many things I liked about it, but the faults were...plentiful). Probably a litte bit of both. I've seen here & there how hard male reader accs have to fight to be like, "Hello, this is not a general reader situation, there aren't many of us as is!" One would think the point would be made. 💔 I guess you could say that makes us a good team. 🫡  Will continue to do so when the ideas form in my head. 👍
Oh for sureee. He just wants to hear you. say you want it fully in you.
Absolutely. Some people just don't understand the struggle of having a big dick & a fat ass but they do! 😌 Yessss. It really is THE perfect pair of underwear to show of allllll his assets while being both form-fitting & extremely comfortable. (ooh, you'll have to let me know how that goes)
YESSSS IVE BRAINWASHED CONVINCED SOMEONE ELSE TO LIKE THE MOVIE sksjsk yeah I think it’s pretty good (probably because Disney had no involvement besides producing it now that I think about it… makes it sooo much better. plus the adult jokes were surprising to hear) and yesss Ben is sooo🫣 he could easily fill in for Mindy’s role in the Scream movies. (and yeah, it feels forced and honestly it weirdly makes Chad feel less relevant than he already is in Scream 5 and 6 because they give him nothing and force sm on Mindy)
Yesss omg he finally sees the height difference as more than having to constant look down at someone else and make sure they aren’t being carried away by rival bugs LMAO He’s worried that you’ll disappear from the height difference as you sink down and eat him out. He alternates between having his hand pushing you more against his hole and jerking himself off, even though you can do it just fine sksjs
Exactlyyy you’re riding him and hes fully undressed you so you can feel the rough denim and then his smooth skin pressing against you. It’s sooo hot and yes i will write something about it🫡 Milo has had so many random good looks that it’s crazy he’s been on a streak since day 1 lmao
Yeah I hate that hypocrisy. I’ve seen so many straight dudes into freaky stuff that’s the standard for them yet out of place for gays. It’s insane, but as long as they aren’t judging others for it idgaf if they like it. They’re gonna make you cum, pull out, then argue about who’s carrying you until they finally come (cum) to an agreement, which went soooo well just figuring out who got what hole (they both took the same one sooo)
I know it breaks School Spirits rules about ghosts, but idc. He can and will fill you with his ectoplasm to help with your findings. He wants you to have bags of it by the time you leave fr
My ask box knows no limits so send how ever many you want😮‍💨 and yessss Ryan as the killer would have worked so well (not really, I just want him to have that Stu/Billy craze.) Exactly!! Darry is so fine I can’t help but not like him and Justin Long’s portrayal of him… but he dies😪 moving up in the movies we have Buddy Hooks (played by tommy from stranger things soooo🤭) who didn’t die?! I actually have no idea because that movie was so. boring. HDD makes sense with CGI though because some stuff couldn’t be done given the budget and all, and it’s not used in place of actual sets (cough cough Marvel cough cough.) Saw II, I, and X in that order from best to worst >>>> the rest
Yeah I remember Zach (Jacob’s actor) saying about half the game was cut and so that’s probably the cause of all the faults I noticed. (Like how Abby’s death scene in glitched. She can die and still appear as a “bitten” survivor or she can survive the entire game without getting bit or dying, yet still be marked as bitten at the end of the game. The lack of polish is just really bad.) At least UD was in development for years and had dozens of reworks and delays to make it a good product. Yes ugh I hate that male readers have to fight for fem reader to be the specification instead of “x reader” meaning male or female reader depending on who the fic features (it’s usually the opposite reader of the gender of the character it’s about.) And typically “x reader” defaults to female no matter what. I know it sounds contradictory but it’s true.
And it’s in season! Wally knows the struggle of finding underwear to fit him (so he usually doesn’t wear it) and even pants struggle to contain all that. (going back to the teasing by ripping his pants/shorts) And I will! I suck at digital art but we must soldier through for the brainrot🫡 (and practice because you can get better without it)

retrouvaille
nakajima atsushi x f!reader
fandom: bungou stray dogs
content: hurt comfort, fluff
warning! : mentions of abuse
type of work: one-shot
synopsis: he left the orphanage, and that meant he had to leave you too; fortunately, this time, it seems like the universe was on your side
a/n: this is kinda self indulgent bc ive been feeling kinda down lately...?? and this has been sitting in my drafts for a while now and i havent posted in a while so killing three birds w/ one stone ig
Tumblr media
the word retrouvaille is a french noun...
The moment you stepped foot into the armed detective agency, heterochromia eyes met your (e/c) ones.
You notice several agents talking and walking over to assist you, but you drown them out only having focus on the gray haired male ten feet away from you.
Said male takes a small step forward with uncertainty and disbelief laced in his voice.
“(y-y/n)...?”
At the sound of your name, your eyes immediately begin to water and with pure relief in your voice, you softly sob his name; the name of the boy who comforted you when you were both still in that wretched place.
“Atsushi...”
With all hesitation gone, Atsushi runs over to you shoving through his surprised and confused coworkers and wraps his arms tightly around you.
The force of the hug causes the both of you to stumble and harshly crash to the ground beneath you.
But the two of you didn’t care.
In his arms was a person Atsushi thought he’d never be able to see again.
In his arms was the same girl who snuck him food from the kitchens, the girl who stole medical supplies from the infirmary to treat his wounds, to take care of him when he was sick, and the girl who received punishment after punishment for insisting on staying with him inside his damn cell.
You gave him happiness in place where he should’ve never been able to receive it.
As if he ever felt like he deserved it in the first place.
You’re too good for him, but yet you still chose him.
You, his sweet and kind, his so very kind, and so very beautiful girlfriend, chose him, the cursed, good for nothing orphan.
The orphanage staff treated you considerably better before the two of you were acquainted, so Atsushi knew he was the problem. That he was the reason why tears would fall onto your beautiful face, why bruises and scars would litter your arms and legs, and why the staff would call you awful, degrading nicknames about you and or your virtue.
He had always thought that he wasn’t good for you, that he didn’t deserve you, that you could do better, but you stayed by his side regardless of his fears and insecurities, and provided him the strength and comfort he had always been deprived of.
And to his very surprise, he found that you found your own strength and comfort in him.
So he knew that you must of cried for weeks after he was kicked out, that you must’ve been devastated to wake up one morning only to learn that he was gone without a trace.
There wasn’t a single day that he never thought of you.
Atsushi wanted to go back for you, he really did; he wanted to storm into the orphanage with members of the armed detective agency, his new family, right at his tail before eventually reuniting with you.
But he didn’t do that.
Ultimately, he chose to leave you out of the mess that came with his job knowing that you would be eventually targeted and used against him if anyone found out about what he had with you.
So he kept quiet.
No mafioso, government agent, foreign organization, nor agency member had a clue about your connection with him, much less your existence.
He told himself that when things have calmed down by a considerable amount, he would go back and get you, with or without the agency backing him up.
Unfortunately, he knew that time of peace was far from the present.
But to see you, in your beautiful glory, standing at the threshold of the agency?
His original plan to keep you away from Yokohoma flew out the damn window.
At the sight of you, his heart did backflips and his legs almost gave out.
Ignoring the jelly feeling in his legs and the loud pounding of his heart, he raced around the desks and his coworkers—nearly fully crashing into Dazai in the process—to once more engulf you into his arms.
As for you?
When you saw him, you felt like you were going to pass out.
Your legs grew weak, your entire body was shaking, and tears started to fall down your face.
He was here.
He was safe and he was alive.
You mourned his abrupt disappearance from the orphanage and spent most of your time worrying about his well being.
The staff thought you were pathetic, that you sulked and cried over someone who they thought should disappear off the face of the earth.
They could insult and beat you all you want, but you drew the line when it came to Atsushi.
Finally having enough of everything, you planned your escape.
You were patient; you never jumped the gun nor gave anything away. You planned everything to the very last, minute detail, and after a few more months of abuse and waiting, you put your plan into action and left in the dead of night.
Thankfully, a kind old couple took you after you had collapsed in the streets. You worked job after job after job to return everything they had spent on your behalf even after they had told you not to worry about it.
And after another few weeks, you finally caught wind of your lost boyfriend tracking him down to Yokohoma through an old newspaper article.
Knowing your boyfriend, and yourself, you knew that tears would easily escape both of your eyes due to the long duration of your separation, but you weren’t expecting to find yourself crashing onto the floors of the armed detective agency curtesy of Atsushi.
But, you wouldn’t have it any other way because in your arms was the boy who gave you comfort during the most darkest days in the orphanage, the boy who laid you in his lap or on his stomach stroking your hair so you would fall asleep, and the boy who often threw himself in front of you so you would remain unharmed.
You choked on your sobs as you tightened your own hold on him and they gradually grew louder as you buried your face into the shoulder of his white button up.
Through his own choked sobs and teary eyes, Atsushi gently maneuvered the two of you so that you would be lying on his stomach—a familiar position the two of you would lay in back in the orphanage.
He gently stroked his fingers through your hair and softly rubbed your back as he whispered the familiar sweet nothings into your ears.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you.”
“I’m okay, you’re okay, we’re okay...”
“I’m here, just let it all out..”
Overwhelmed with your emotions, his sweet words only started to make you cry more.
You’ve missed him so much.
Your tears easily soaked his both his shirt and his neck, and you tried to speak only for you to choke up. Atsushi simply just started to shush you—as you would to a baby—and placed a kiss to your forehead as he continued to comfortingly stroke your hair and rub your back.
With the both of you off into your own little world, a world consisting only of the two of you, reactions and looks from the Armed Detective Agency went unnoticed.
It didn’t take long for them to realize the kind of relationship you and Atsushi had.
But what surprised them was Atsushi’s behavior.
The young adult they knew tended to be unsure of everything, including himself, and stammered whenever he was nervous.
But the young adult currently in front of them had this new aura of maturity; he didn’t hesitate to touch you or to comfort you, and for the first time they’ve seen in a while, he was sure of himself; he wasn’t nervous at all.
With the amount of comfortability Atsushi had around you, and the tender, loving care he showered you in, it was clear that you certainly were someone special to their tiger.
Your sobs slowly turned to small hiccups, and Atsushi’s face turned to one of pure tranquility and content, having his lover back in his arms.
Although having calmed down, what Atsushi said to you next made you want to start bawling all over again.
“I’m sorry I left you, and I promise I didn’t forget about you,” he whispered softly, “I thought of you every day. I still do. The thought of being able to see you again is what kept me going.”
You buried yourself further into his shoulder as you gripped his white button up in your hands.
“And thanks to the armed detective agency, I’m stronger now. I won’t let anybody hurt you, not anymore. That, I promise you.”
Actually taking a look up from you, Atsushi ended up locking eyes with Dazai, who had a gentle look on his face.
His senior only closed his eyes, tilted his head down softly, and lightly chuckled before opening his brown eyes once more, giving Atsushi a look of approval.
The gray haired teen’s eyes widened slightly as he looked around the room only to be met with similar looks of approval and gentleness from his seniors and coworkers.
He felt his eyes tear up again, but instead let out a relieved sigh as he tightened his hold on you slightly.
“Hey Atsushi...” you softly murmured.
Equally as soft, he answered, “Yes (y/n)?”
“...I love you...”
Your lover smiled before placing another kiss onto your forehead.
“I love you too (y/n)”
At last, the girl he loved was back in his arms, and the boy you loved was back within your reach.
And neither of you were ever going to let each other go again.
and it means, the joy of meeting or finding someone again after a long separation, a rediscovery

Heal Me, Baby
Tumblr media
summary: Bucky Barnes can’t seem to keep away from your med tent no matter how many times you fix him up. // challenge prompt: bed sharing  pairing: 1940s bucky x reader word count: 5k warnings: a very charming bucky 😉 a/n: This was written for @cake-writes 1940s challenge! Congrats on the 3.5 milestone!! The title of this fic comes from the song Heal Me by Snow Patrol
Tumblr media
There was blood on the white of your dress; slow and steady seeping into the fabric and staining the cotton blend fibers. Red and as deep and bold as the cross sewn into the chest of your uniform, the blood became part of the design because no matter how many times you scrubbed it clean, more would find its way back to the hip of your skirt, the sleeve of your shoulder, the hem of your apron by morning’s end. Sometimes you wondered why they’d bothered dressing you in white at all. Might as well make it red with the number of wounded soldiers they dragged through your tent; most halfway towards the shiny bright light and others inches away from their last breath.
The chaos was constant, a given, and despite the noise and clutter, it was where you felt most at home. It was better than the lull, the calm before the inevitable storm, where you’d be swarmed with men on stretchers, bleeding out onto the dirt and tossed into overcrowded beds. The steady stream was easier than the rapids, easier than assigning ten men to a single nurse where injuries could be missed, vital tears overlooked.
You were at the end of your shift for the night, dirt on your forehead, sweat damping the carefully curled ringlets at your neck. A file in your hand of the man at the end of the room, thicker than most, and you kept your eyes down as you pushed your way through the crowd of nurses and visiting soldiers, heels sinking slightly into the grass with every step.
When you came upon him, you finally noticed the name etched into the top right corner of the folder; the cheesy grin as he propped himself up on his elbows, blood and dirt coating most of his face, though still as annoying handsome as ever.
“Hiya, doll.”
“Oh, not you again.”
Bucky chuckled to himself as he plopped back down against the pillow, hands clasping behind his neck as he watched you work around his bedside. You huffed the hairs from your eyes, brushed the sweat from your hands as you slipped on a pair of gloves, careful to avoid the urge to smile at the way Bucky was so obviously studying your every move.
You’d seen him about a dozen times since you’d been transferred to the Italian warfront along with the 107th. He’d found a habit of stumbling into the medical tent after a night in the trenches, covered head to toe in what looked to be a dried mixture of mud and blood that didn’t always turn out to be his own.
He’d flash that smile of his like he couldn’t smell the retch of sweat and grim on his skin, sweet talk you like he wasn’t thrown head first to the middle of a war he didn’t sign up for, and get your stomach twisted all up in knots, hands fumbling with the IV bag, a nervous flutter in your chest – though you’d never let him see that.
Sergeant Bucky Barnes was the kind of man the nurses talked about when he walked by. A tip of his cap, a slight salute in their direction, and they’d giggle themselves into a mess, clinging onto one another as they waved at him.
But then, across the courtyard, his eyes would catch yours, a softer tone about him and he’d simply wink, something subtle and barely noticeable, but enough for it to be personal, almost intimate, because it wasn’t for others to see.
“Not happy to see me, huh?” Bucky drawled, crossing his ankles as he stretched back on the worn-down cot like he was sitting at home on the couch, waiting on a beer as he read the evening paper.
You pursed your lips, shooting him a narrowed look as you glanced over the intake file. “I’m never happy to see men in this tent, Sergeant Barnes. Did you forget where you are?”
You gestured down to the series of beds filled with men, some waiting as they hung off the edge of crutches or slumped over in chairs, with bandages wrapped around exposed chests, blood seeping through, broken limbs exposed, the quiet whimpers of pain muffled by forearms and pillows.
“Oh, come on, doll. You know I’m just teasing ya,” Bucky smirked, sitting up in the bed because he knew the routine well enough by this point.
You held a single finger pointed up in front of his eyes and he followed it without instruction as you moved it across his line of sight. No sign of abnormal dilation. Ruled out a concussion, at least.
“You should be more careful out there,” you warned, gathering the first aid kit from the bedside table. “You’re in here almost every day, you know.”
“Maybe I like the company,” he shrugged, blue eyes piercing straight through you and you tried to ignore the way your heart skipped a full beat.
Your hands trembled slightly as you cleaned the wound on his forehead, a hit from a fall by the looks of it, though it wasn’t deep enough to require stitches. He winced a little, a slight hiss in his tongue as you applied the alcohol.
“You shouldn’t be taking the bed from someone who needs it.”
“Hell, I do need it, doll,” Bucky whined, a little dramatically. “Look at me. I’m in pieces. I’m fallin’ apart at the seams and you’re the only one that can save me, sweetheart. I need ya.”
You paused with a tight pout of your lips, sitting back on the cot beside him long enough to roll your eyes. “You need a band-aid and stern warning, Sergeant Barnes. You’re fine.”
“Oh, call me Bucky, won’t you?”
You pressed the bandage to his forehead, a little firmer that you would have for most any other patient and he grunted under his breath, trying to steady himself against the thin mattress.
“Time for you to go, Sergeant Barnes.”
Bucky grinned, nodding to himself as he stood. “Been a pleasure, doll, as always. I’ll see you tomorrow!”
“You better not!” you called back, arms folded over your chest as he snickered to himself, walking through the mess of chaos to the exit on the other end. He glanced back over his shoulder as he pulled up a flap of canvas and winked at you.
You clenched your jaw and got back to work.
***
Sure enough as the tides rolled in, so did Bucky Barnes to your med tent a few nights later.
You found him waiting for you on the last bed in the aisle, one leg tucked under him, the other hung over the side of the cot as he nursed his right hand in his lap. He was humming to himself through pursed lips, a tune that you recognized from the radio station your father often played back home; head bouncing a bit to the rhythm, massaging gently at the palm of his hand, completely unfazed by the chaos around him.
Stepping up to the edge of the bed, you supposed he caught sight of your shoes because he started to smile before he so much as lifted his head.
Slowly, like he was taking his time, he glanced up at you with that sheepish smile of his, a light chuckle under his breath, and he ran his left hand through the mess of hair atop his head.
“Hiya, doll.”
“What is it this time?”
Your arms were folded, toe tapping against the ground, but there was something in the way he couldn’t stop smiling at you, even as you scolded him, that tugged a bit on the tight strains in your chest. It pushed at the walls you’d built, poked at the cement layers between bricks until they started to fall one by one and you fought against the urge to smile back at him.
He was too sweet on you, too handsome and charming, and you were almost certain it was an act, so you clenched your jaw and forced a frown.
Bucky held up his hand and for you, showing off a rather nasty burn in the underside of his palm, just along his thumb; red and seared, bubbling a bit on the edges. Your resolve took a bit of a hit because he winced a little in the motion, like the chill of the air was enough to cause him pain.
“How did you manage to do that?” you asked, tone still a little tense, though you took a seat on the side of his mattress, the lumps of the worn-down cot pressing against your thighs.
You reached for the medical cart near the bedside table, though it was just an inch from reach, and Bucky took the liberty of wheeling it over for you. You paused, watching him as he casually slid the cart in front of you, careful of your shoes and the dips in the ground.
“It was my shift in the kitchens,” he shrugged.
His hand slipped into yours as you gestured for it; rough and calloused though still untouched in places, soft and tender. You wondered what he did before he was drafted, if he worked in factories or in a garage, if his hands had seen hard labor before he was handled a weapon and a battalion, or if they were a blank page, yet to be filled by the scars and abrasive markings of a man at war.
You turned it over gently, easing the back of his hand to sit cradled in your palm as you examined the burn. It looked like he’d singed it on the side of the stove. The ring of the plate visible on the edge of his palm.
“Didn’t think you were required take shifts in the kitchens, Sergeant,” you commented, raising an eyebrow, though you kept your focus on his hand.
“Helps with morale,” Bucky replied simply. “Doing the same grunt work together does something for when we’re out in the trenches, you know? I’m not any better than them because the higher-ups threw some title in front of my name. We’re all stuck here, aren’t we?”
There was a chuckle in his voice, a lightness, and it surprised you as you looked up to see that it didn’t quite touch his eyes. How often did that happen and you didn’t notice because you were so caught up in holding up walls to keep from his games? How often had it not been a game at all and rather a mask he wore, to protect the most vulnerable parts of himself from giving into the horrors he saw on the front lines?
He took a deep breath, focused on the grip of your hand around his as you slowly started to apply aloe along the burn. Cautious eyes glancing up to him, you watched as his shoulders slumped a little, a weight lifting from the tension he carried as the cooling of the gel started to take effect. The hardened lines on his face softened, his breaths coming in a bit steadier, the sigh that left his lips light and sweet.
“I’m sure they appreciate what you do for them,” you said, softer this time, in hopes of distracting yourself from the way his lips parted ever so slightly in relief the longer you soothed the gel along his hand.
“Eh, keeps me busy,” he said, brushing it off, almost like the praise was uncomfortable for him, like it didn’t feel warranted or necessary. He smiled to himself, pulling his lower lip between his teeth as you started to wrap his hand, gentle touches delicately easing the bandage around the burn. “Brought me back to you, didn’t it? I call that a win.”
You laughed a bit at that despite yourself as you clipped the edges of the bandages and secured it properly. “I’m sure you would have found an excuse to come bother me all on your own, Sergeant Barnes.”
“Bucky,” he reminded you again, grinning so wide it must have hurt.
“I don’t want to see you in this tent for at least a week,” you warned, placing his hand back into his own lap. You stood, brushing the wrinkles from the edges of your dress. Though you were stern with him, you were smiling. He certainly took notice of it.
“That’s a lot to ask of me, sweetheart. I’m a clumsy guy.”
“You’re the best sharpshooter we have!”
“I’m a mess, honey. Look at me! You’re my only hope.”
“Oh, get out of here!” you laughed, pushing on his shoulders though you were met with significant resistance; a playful game of cat and mouse, and damn if you weren’t completely falling for it.
He finally gave in when your laughter started to draw the attention of the nurses gathered around the bedsides of injured soldiers, and you swatted him on the shoulder, heat flushing to your cheeks in embarrassment, though you were unsuccessfully biting back a smile.
As he made his way to the exit, he turned back for a final look, surprised to find you still watching him, and he winked; cool and collected, confident. You shook your head at him, arms folded over your chest, but he saw the way the corners of your lips pushed up high into your cheeks, the brightness in your eyes, the whisper of a laugh still in your breath.
If this was all a game, he was certainly winning.
***
A few weeks later and the nurses had resorted to reserving a spot for Bucky in the back of the tent; the same cot in your assigned row because he all out refused to be seen by anyone else. He’d duck through the canvas flaps at the entrance, smile politely at the nurses and wait patiently for you to notice him.
His injuries varied anywhere from a paper cut along his palm to a splitting headache to simple heartburn. He knew better than to take your attention away from soldiers who really needed it, but he’d come to consume the moments in between, whether you liked it or not.
But a funny thing started to happen.
You started to look forward to the days when he’d peep his head into the tent, checking to make sure you were on shift before he’d saunter his way inside and take his seat on his favorite cot. You’d find disappointment burning like jealousy in your chest on the days he didn’t, and your mind would wonder where he was or if he was alright.
He’d once waited hours before you were able to step away from the gunshot wounds of a soldier two beds down and though the scrape on his knee had all but scabbed over by then, he stuck around until the kid stabilized.
You were exhausted by the time you made it over to Bucky, losing hope that you’d be able to keep the injured soldier alive through the night and trying to mask the utter helplessness you felt.
But Bucky made his light-hearted jokes, he teased you for the dirt on your forehead, whined and complained dramatically about his knee though you both knew he’d sleep it off my morning, and it brought back a smile to your face before you realized it. He managed to push through even the darkest parts of your days.
***
Bucky’s regiment was out on assignment for over a week and you would have been lying to yourself if you said you didn’t miss him. You found yourself glancing down at the entrance every few minutes, feeling like something was missing when you finished your checklist, stabilized your patients, and finally had a free moment for yourself. There was something else you would have been attending to.
It wasn’t until you realized it was Bucky you were searching for, waiting to see his smile light up at he caught your eye, that it hit you just how easily you’d fallen for him.
At the end of a very long week, he stumbled into the med tent on a rolled ankle, leaning off the shoulder of Captain America himself, complaining of a pain in his left arm. You were relieved to see him, like a weight lifted from your chest that was holding you underwater for days, but you couldn’t let him see that.
“Been a while, honey,” he smirked. “Miss me?”
“Watch yourself, Barnes,” you warned, though it was light and airy. You eased his arm over your shoulders and excused Steve as he was still supporting his weight. You tried not to focus on how nice it felt to have Bucky this close, his arm draped over your shoulders, his side pressed up tight to yours as he hobbled in support of his injured ankle.
“Got real lonely out there on the front without you,” Bucky teased as you helped him down to the cot. “Stevie had to fix me up. Wasn’t pretty.”
“I can see that,” you laughed, gesturing to the mess of bandages circling around his arm. “What did you do? Bump into the corner of the tank?”
“Not exactly,” he chuckled awkwardly, pulling his arm from what remained of his sleeve to give you better coverage. He curled his shirt up in his hands, shivering as the cold touched exposed skin and you tried to ignore the taunt lines of his muscles and the placement of freckles down his back, the shadows over his abdomen.
Slowly, you pulled back the bandages, wrapped about a dozen times over, until red started to appear in the white of the cloth, soaking through the layers thicker and darker until you found the source. Your smile had long fallen by the time you saw the wound on his arm, a bullet grazing on the outer stretch of muscle; ripped and raw on the edges, a piece of your heart torn along with it.
“You were shot?”
“Oh, come on, doll, it ain’t so bad,” Bucky chuckled. “It’s just a little graze.”
You shook your head, quickly tending to the open wound with alcohol swipes that left him hissing from the sting of it. Your hands were shaking slightly, but you held your breath in hopes he wouldn’t notice.
“Why is it that you feel the need to come in here with senseless injuries and waste my time but when you're actually hurt, you brush it off like it’s nothing?”
You weren’t angry despite the tone of your voice. No, it was fear that took over, marred through the tension of your words and the frantic thumping inside your chest. The idea of him never walking into your tent again ripped the heart straight from you.
“We’re at war, honey,” Bucky replied gently and though he still wore that beautiful smile on his face, it was softer. “This kind of stuff happens all the time.”
“Not to you,” you whispered, voice low and heavy.
Your fingers were trembling as you attempted to thread the needle for the third time, though it was no use. It kept missing the eye, your hand was shaking too much for a steady grip. You couldn’t protect him when he was out in the trenches, couldn’t heal his wounds and tend to his injuries. You couldn’t save him if something happened out there, leaving him stranded.
A few inches to the right and the bullet could have torn through a major artery and maybe Steve Rogers would have showed up in your tent with his helmet held at his chest and a solemn look in his eye when he told you that Bucky fought valiantly until his last breath.
The thread missed the needle again and you let out a groan, a wave of frustration and anger and fear and suddenly Bucky’s hands were on yours, slowly lowering them back to your lap. He smiled sweetly at you as he gently took the needle and thread from your hands and slipped it through the eye. He knotted it at the end and handed it back to you, adjusting his position on the cot to give you better leverage.
“I should get someone else to do this,” you said quietly.
“No deal, honey. You’re the only one for me.”
“Bucky, my hands are shaking. I should ask one of the girls to--”
“It’s you or I walk.”
Bucky smirked, winking at you over his shoulder before he settled in again. Determined and stubborn as you’d ever seen him.
You sighed, pushing out a deep breath as you steadied your hand. “Okay, well, no complaining if you end up with a scar.”
“Me? Never.”
***
Bucky wasn’t the only soldier in the tent that night and you were worn thin; running on startling lack of caffeine and frequent cold bursts of air outside, you hadn’t slept in nearly two days as you attended to the influx of injured men.
Half of your girls were out sick from the bug that was floating around camp, though you were almost certain it wasn’t airborne as they insisted and they’d contracted it by getting cozy with the soldiers. You couldn’t blame them for seeking comfort amongst the harsh conditions of the war, but being down two girls in an overcrowded, busy tent full of men in terrible pain wasn’t easy to manage on your own.
Bucky’s presence seemed to help, though. He’d smile at you whenever you looked in his direction and you started to wonder if he was watching you as you worked, as opposed to the book in his lap. He always seemed to be looking at you when you turned over your shoulder to check in on him, anyway. The pages of the book sitting in his hand remained unturned for too long, even as he fought against the heaviness of his lids, sleeping threatening to pull him under though he resisted.
He gave in after you’d swiped the book from his hands and ordered him to close his eyes.
“Anything for you, doll,” he said, yawning through every syllable.
You watched as he settled into the sheets, bare chest exposed and the heavy bandage wrapped around his arm. His eyes fluttered shut, nose scrunching as he sniffled in a tight breath, and his whole body seemed to relax, finding sleep rather quickly.
It was nearly two in the morning by the time the med tent quieted down.
Most of the men were asleep, the others too doped up on pain medications to notice much of anything going on around them, their eyes softly gazing out ahead of them, heavy eyelids falling shut. You let the remaining girls go back to their own tents until dawn, given that the worst of it all had subsided.
With a tired yawn, you dragged your feet down to Bucky’s bed. He was snoring softly in his sleep, lips parted just slightly, and you realized gazing down at him, that he looked years younger like this; the innocence he often masked amongst the perils of war rising fresh to the surface, unobstructed.
With a cautious hand, you reached out and grazed your fingertips along his arm; his whole body sighing in response, a slight curve of his lips, his head lulling to the side closest to the touch.
But you couldn’t stand there and watch him sleep all night. The bandage had started to bleed through and it needed a rewrapping.
You pulled up a chair next to his cot, carefully beginning to unwrap the cloth from around the tight muscle of his arm. Smooth skin under pebbled goosebumps from the chill outside, you gently released the bandage to the mattress. The wound didn’t look so bad underneath, but you cleaned it up a bit to be safe. With a quick dab to his arm with the disinfectant, you glanced up at his face in search of a hitch in his breath or a hiss on his tongue, but he remained fast asleep.
Even men like Bucky Barnes needed a break. He looked so sweet sleeping like that, the slight pout on his lips as you cleaned the wound, the sniffle through the beginnings of a head cold.
You yawned, struggling to keep your eyes open and quickly rebandaged his arm. There were more men in this tent that needed your attention.
A few beds down and an hour later, you began to switch out the IV drip of a man with a severed leg; a young, baby faced kid who didn’t look old enough to graduate school, let alone be given a gun in the middle of wartime. He scrunched his nose in his sleep, his thigh twitching like he might still think something was there. There was sweat beading on his face, dripping damp into the pillow. You didn’t know how much longer he had.
Your legs wobbled slightly under you and you gripped onto the bedside table. The exhaustion was starting to reel you in, pull you under to the warm embrace of sleep, but you had a job to do, men to care for. Pressing the heel of your palms to your eyes, you tried to push the tiredness from you, though a yawn broke through again anyway.
“Looking like you might need some rest, doll.”
You froze at the sound of his voice, like ice and fire, relief and panic.
A heavy sigh sat in your chest before you turned around, only to find Bucky brushing at his eyes, sleepily smiling up at you from his cot. He propped himself him on his elbows, as you quickly made yourself busy, simply watching as you continued about your work.
“Someone has to attend to these men, Bucky,” you replied, a little tenser than you usually were with him, but the exhaustion had taken hold of you and it took effort just to keep your eyes open.
“Doll,” he called, softer this time, “you’re going to pass out. Where'd everyone go?”
“Sent them off. No need for a crowd to watch over sleeping men.” You checked the vitals of a man across the aisle from Bucky; steady rhythm, even pulse. He’d make it until morning, at least.
“When’s the last time you slept?” he asked slowly and you could feel his eyes following you around the tent, watching intently as you tended to each of the men, assuring yourself that they were as restful as they appeared. There was a concern in his voice, a sincerity, and it tensed in your shoulders.
You released a heavy breath, keeping focused on replenishing the infusion bag of a soldier who was hanging on by a thread. One quick glance back at Bucky proved to be a mistake as he was still watching you, though it was under kind, worried eyes. He was still waiting on an answer.
“You don’t need to be worrying about how much I’m sleeping,” you said, turning your back to him because your eyes were falling heavy and it was near impossible to keep them open. You leaned onto the frame of another soldier’s bed for support, pretending to be busy for Bucky’s sake.
“No?” Bucky questioned with an embellished sigh. “Someone has to, don't you think?”
“Bucky, I’m fine,” you yawned, covering your mouth with your wrist as you turned back to face him.
He chuckled a bit under his breath, chin falling to his chest, before he smiled up at you like you’d missed out on some kind of inside joke.
“Oh, ‘course you are, doll. Must have been someone else who put the same bloody bandage back on my arm after cleaning it then, huh?” he shrugged teasingly, gesturing to his arm where a dark red bandage circled around his bicep.
Your eyes blew wide, a gasp in your throat and you rushed over to him. Hands fumbling for the chair, missing several times and resorting to falling at your knees, you made quick work of trying to peel away the red bindings.
“Shit! Shit, I’m-- shit,” you panted, shaking, “that’s never happened before and I—oh God, I’m so sorry, Bucky—I’ll fix it, just—just give me a second and—”
“Hey, hey, it’s alright, honey,” Bucky cooed sweetly, helping to unfasten the bandage because your hands were fumbling too long with the clasps. His right hand encased your shaking fingers, holding them tightly long enough to pull your attention away from his arm. “It happens, okay? No harm done. I’m aces, alright?”
“No, no, it’s wildly...” you sucked in a sharp breath, tingling in the back of your jaw, stretching at your cheeks, “...unacceptable and I...” another yawn broke through, “...should report myself because...” and a third.
“Jesus, doll, listen to you. You’re exhausted,” Bucky eased, reaching for the clean bandages on the bedside table. He grabbed a fresh one and put one end between his teeth for leverage as he began to wrap his own arm.
You sat back on your heels, kneeling next to his bed and certainly getting dirt along the end of your dress. You watched as he wove the clean cloth in and around his arm, concentration etched into his facial features to mask the slight wince of pain as the fabric touched the wound.
Guilt was fresh in your chest as Bucky wrapped his arm himself, pulled it tight and gestured for you to fasten it. He could have done it himself, you were sure. There was a smile on his face as he looked at you, like he was trying to make you feel better.
“I’m sorry, Bucky. It won’t happen again,” you mumbled, defeated and you rose to your feet, beginning to walk away.
“Wait, honey, don’t go--”
You froze, surprised by a sudden grip at your hand before you could take a step away from his bedside, and when your eyes shot back to his, he let go immediately, his cheeks flushing red as he began to laugh nervously. It was a kind of embarrassment you never expected to see in him.
“You don’t gotta apologize to me, doll,” he started, scratching at the back of his head.
“I can’t afford to make mistakes,” you retorted, voice a little more somber. “You can’t afford it either.”
“Then, make it up to me.”
You narrowed your eyes, fighting off the urge to yawn again. “What would you have me do?”
“Get some rest?” he asked sheepishly, scooting to the far edge of the tiny, twin size cot. He took up most of the space himself and you swore you may have seen him swallow nervously as he pulled down the covers, gesturing to the open space.
“No, I... I can’t,” you said flatly, though your heart was racing.
“You’re going to pass out where you stand and you said yourself you can’t afford to make more mistakes,” he argued gently. “Just a few hours. Then you’ll be good as new. No more dirty bandages.”
“Bucky, I...” you shook your head, stepping back and folding your arms over your chest. “I-- I have to look after these men. I can’t fall asleep. What if something happens?”
“I’ll wake you up,” he responded with a shrug. “I got my hours in. Anyone starts throwing a coughing fit, monitors start going haywire, I’ll let you know. I promise.”
“People will talk,” you whispered, excuses lined up but Bucky didn’t let them break his smile for even a moment.
“No one's around, sweetheart.”
“It’s inappropriate.”
“So is half my guys sleeping with your girls and yet...”
You laughed a bit at that, chewing on the edge of your lip, the rouge long faded of color. A heavy silence passed, a slight sway in your stance as your body fought tirelessly against the urge to close your eyes. Glancing down the rows of cots, it seemed quiet. Not a peep for hours and everyone was stable.
You turned back to Bucky. He was waiting patiently.
“You’ll wake me?”
You didn’t think it was possible for him to smile wider, but – God – it was blinding.
“Cross my heart.”
Stepping out of your shoes, you slowly made your way to the edge of his bed. You stared down at the open space and the slim line of mattress available to you. You must have taken too long because he started shifted a bit more to the edge, to the point where he was nearly falling off.
“Promise I’ll be a complete gentleman,” he chuckled lightly, cheeks pink and rosy. It was damn near impossible to say no to him when he looked at you like that, with a sincerity you hadn’t known since you left the States, draped under ocean blue.
“One hour,” you warned him as you slowly lowered yourself into the cot beside him. It squeaked as you let your weight fall to its uneven springs, the lumps evident against your back, the frame prominent through the thin cushion.
“One hour,” he agreed, giving you space as you rested your head against the pillow if you wanted it, though you heard his breath hitch as you tugged his arm down a little to lean against his shoulder, his right arm curling around your back to keep you steady on the bed.
Laying on your side, curled up next to him, you rested your left arm against his chest, tracing your fingers along the exposed lines of his stomach, the dip at his sternum, the scars littering smooth stretches of beautifully tanned skin. He shivered under your touch, his breath slightly uneven, though he didn’t say anything. His hold on you tightened as he suppressed a gasp under the bite of his teeth, like a reflex, pulling you tighter as his toes curled and his spine lightened.
“This okay?” you asked quietly, voice barely above a whisper and you watched as your breath touched his chest, goosebumps in its wake.
“Perfect, honey,” Bucky replied sweetly, his fingers drawing patterns along your back, tracing along the zipper of your dress and the seams in the shoulders. “Close your eyes, will you?”
A sleep heavy laugh pulled up at your cheeks, resting on his chest, as you let your hand fall flat against his stomach. You nodded, curling up as close against him as you could manage, losing yourself in the gentle waves of his touch along your spine.
“Thank you,” you whispered as your eyes began fluttering shut. You could hear the pulse of his heart beating gently under your ear, the steady rhythm lulling you a warm embrace. The slip of consciousness tugging you kindly to the ease of temporary darkness.
There was a slight touch on your forehead, something warm and sweet, lingering as your breaths became longer, steadier, drawn out and even; the heat of breath to your skin, the slight hum of a content sigh. A kiss as gentle and kind and tender as the man behind it.

Words: 1529
Tumblr media
“I’m just not drinking as much coffee anymore.” He said matter-o-factly. “I used to not be able to sleep very well so I’d just drink a lot of coffee to keep myself awake but I guess I just don’t have to anymore. I’ve been sleeping really well recently when I’ve been with you.” You smile as you feel him gently press a kiss to the side of your head. You smile contently, beginning to close your eyes, his heartbeat sounding like sweet music to your ears.
“Five, do you have a girl in your room?” A distance voice was heard echoing through the academy.
“Shit.” He mumbled into your hair, you knew it was going to be a long day in the Academy.
Five looked around frantically, trying to decide what to do. He pulled you up from his bed, mischievous glint in his eyes as he moved quickly to the window, you shake your head, trying to let him know you weren’t going to jump out the window. Giving you a wink, he pulled you towards his closet just before Fives bedroom door swung open.
“Shit. They’re not in here Diego!” Five let out a quite breathy laugh, locking his eyes with yours. It was only in this moment that you realised your closeness, it’s not like you have never been as close to Five as you were in that moment but the small space in the closest emphasised it. Five could feel the sudden change in mood as well, slowly moving his hands around your waist.
In that moment you forgot about Fives two older brothers peering out the open window, you forgot about your exams, you forgot about everything except Five. The collision of your lips felt like a thousand lighting bolts between the both of you. You were both so horrifically in love with each other but neither of you could get the words out.
Klaus and Diego had came to the conclusion that Five and y/n had either climbed out the window or teleported away, that was until they heard a loud thump come from the direction of the closet. They both slowly crept forward before swinging the closet door open expecting to find their ‘younger’ brother. Klaus and Diego were met with nothing but a few toppled over books with no answer on where Five or his ‘friend’ were.
You collapsed back onto your bed in a flash of blue, giggling like school children giddy from a sugar rush. In the closet you’d both gotten too into the moment, Five pushing you against the side of the closet wall resulting in a bang.
“I would really like to meet your family, you know.” You say softly to him, settling into a state of calm. “So at least they know who you’re with rather than stress them out when they don’t know where you are.” His hair was silky to your touch.
“I know,” He let out an almost overdramatic sigh. “They’re strange, I don’t want to scare you off. You’re the best thing that’s happened to me.” You smile at his words but you were concerned, you knew all about Fives time in the apocalypse or at least as much as he would tell you, he would sometimes let something slip about the crippling loneliness or his time in the commission.
“I’ve been able to deal with your strange ass for the past year, I think I can cope.” You slightly shove him as you speak, admiring the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles. “Maybe if you warn them in advance, then they won’t “scare me off’ and they’ll be slightly normal?”
He seemed to think about it, for just a split second the only thing whizzing around his fast mind was the thought of you meeting his family. Every possible situation that could occur whizzed through his head, every bad situation with every one of his siblings.
“Okay.”
A shiver ran down your body as you stood at the doors of the large mansion, waiting for the right time to knock at the door, or even just to convince yourself to do it. Every time you had been to the academy no one else was home, except for Pogo and Grace of course but they never asked too many questions, or Five just blips you into his room, you’d never knocked before.
But you knew you had to do this, for Five, so his family doesn’t worry as much. You’d even put on your best pair of jeans and best t-shirt, just to hope to make the right impression to his six sibling. So despite all of the atoms in your body screaming with anxiety not to knock on the door, you banged the knocker, you couldn’t even get a third knock in before the door swung open to reveal a nervous looking Five. His face lit up when he saw you, his eyes drifting up and down your figure.
“You look nice.” He said as he held his hand out for you to take, gently pulling you into the academy.
“I do try sometimes, you know.” You squeeze his hand as you stepped inside, hearing the chatter of his siblings from the other room. Letting go of his hand, you gently lift your bag from across you. Without missing a beat Five gently took it from your hand and hung it up.
“It’ll be fine.” Five whispered in your ear as you walked into the room, reassuringly placing his hand on the small of your back. Your face instantly got red as you got closer to his siblings, all of their eyes falling on you, some giving you kind smiles while some didn’t show any emotion at all.
“Hi,” You spoke softly to the crowd, giving a soft smile. “I’m Y/n.”
“She’s my girlfriend.” Five added, moving his hand from your back to around your waist, giving it a gentle squeeze. A series of raised eyebrows erupted around the room as they all glance at each other. The room fell silent until someone finally spoke up.
“It’s really nice to meet you, I’m Allison.”
“Klaus.”
“Luther.”
“Vanya.”
“Ben also says hello.” Klaus spoke again.
“Diego.”
“Come sit down.” Allison said warmly, moving over so there was enough room for you and Five to sit down. You gladly sat down with Five squeezing next to you, his hand still resting around your waist.
“So,” Klaus said as he crossed his legs and rested his head on his hands. “How did you both meet?”
“I work at Griddy’s in between school, Five came in a lot and we just ended up talking, this was nearly a year ago now I think.” You say nervously, you gripped both of your hands together to stop them from shaking.
The mood relaxed as you all made general chit chat, asking about your ambitions and your interests, how you’re doing at school and even a little bit about your relationship with Five. Diego however, had not muttered a single word, he just kept intently staring at you, maybe trying to read you and judge your character, or maybe he was still mad about when he last saw you.
A cold breeze drifted through the room, causing you to shiver and your bare arms get goosebumps. Five ran his hand down your arm, feeling how cold you were. “Want me to get you a hoodie?” He spoke quietly to you, you shook your head no to his question, not wanting to be a bother. “I’ll get you one, you’re freezing y/n, I’ll be back in a minute” The last part was spoke mainly to the room as he stood up and started walking to the stairs only to be gone in a flash of blue.
“Diego, I’m sorry!” You spoke quickly. “I’m sorry about how Five acted with you when you saw me last, I was the one who wanted to meet you all.” You were almost tumbling over your words as they spilled out of you. “I just thought you should know who Five is with when he’s not here, I’m super responsable and always make sure he’s safe.” When you finish your face was flushed, the anxiety crept up on you as you spoke, being unable to read Diegos face.
“I appreciate that, thank you,” He said genuinely. “We just worry about him sometimes, ya know.” You nodded to his words before Five appeared before you, he was now wearing a jacket over his own hoodie and holding one out to you which you gratefully took.
“We’re going to head off,” Five said to the room, waiting for you to pull his hoodie on before pulling you up by your hand. “I’ll be back later.”
“It was nice meeting you all!” You say, you received a series of ‘you too’s and ‘come back any times’s. You walked with Five to the door before wrapping you bag back around you and leaving the academy. Fives hand was instantly in yours as soon as you were walking down the steps and out into the street, swinging it as you both walked.
“I think that went rather well.”

I sat at the table across from James and watched as he looked around nervously. We had already ordered drinks but not much conversation had gone on yet.
"This isn't really your scene is it?"
I asked and he finally looked at me, brows raised like I'd caught him off guard.
"Uh, my uh, last date didn't go so well."
He said and I nodded.
"I'll drink to that."
I raised my glass to him before taking a drink. He let out a short laugh before looking away again.
"So, James, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself."
I said and he cleared his throat.
"Well for starters uh you can call me bucky, that's what my friends call me."
I nodded slowly, he seemed like he was reminiscing for a moment.
"Um I'm a hundred and six."
He said lightly and I laughed. He looked nervous again.
"If you're a hundred and six then so am I."
I quipped back and he seemed shocked.
"Right."
A nervous laugh. Cute. I took another drink.
"No seriously."
I said and he nodded.
"I'm not really one for mockery."
He said stoically and I shook my head.
"No, no, don't take it that way! I'm not either. I'm sorry it came off that way."
I said quickly and I could see him shift to rub his gloved hands together under the table.
"In all actuality 1917 was a pretty interesting year, if I'm doing my math correct."
He drew his brows.
"It was?"
He asked and I nodded.
"Well it's not every day America joins a world war, late to the party as usual but still. Don't get me wrong there was a lot that happened that year but that was probably the most memorable. My husband at the time was drafted that September."
He looked even more confused than he did earlier, his brows almost touching at this point if it weren't for the frown line between them.
"I know it's impolite to ask a woman her age but exactly how old are you?"
He asked quizzically and I looked up to think for a moment.
"Uh, this year on my actual birthday I will be two... Hundred and... Eight? I think?"
He laughed before taking a drink, finally smiling.
"Great."
He said before leaning over and pulling his wallet out of his back pocket.
"This was fun."
He said, slapping a twenty on the table and moving to stand.
"Bucky wait!"
He paused and looked back at me.
"Can we talk... Somewhere a little more private?"
I asked and he sighed, looking to the ground.
"Fine."
I stood quickly to match him, grabbing my bag off the back of the chair and following him outside. When we made it out the door I saw him tense a little bit, glancing to me a few times as we lazed down the sidewalk.
"Are you cold?"
He asked, reaching for his jacket zipper and I stopped him.
"No, no, I'm perfect, thank you though. You probably need it more than me."
There was the confused look again.
"You're probably trying to figure me out aren't you?"
He sighed, half shaking his head as he looked to the ground ahead of us.
"I guess I'm just trying to figure out why you would lie to me? Forgive me for being blunt but that's at least how it seems, even after I told you I didn't like being mocked."
I laughed a little.
"Bucky I didn't lie to you. My situation is - complicated."
He looked over me again.
"I am two hundred and eight, that wasn't a lie. Or, at least I don't think it was, it's hard to remember after all these years the exact number. But I was born in 1815 in new York after my mother immigrated to the states. It was a rough childhood and an even rougher lifestyle growing into my teens."
We kept walking. He was listening intently but seemed like he still wasn't so sure about me.
"I was engaged to be married by my seventeenth birthday but the night before my wedding I was kidnapped."
He looked to me in surprise.
"I was placed as an indentured servant in a trading charter, seen by many of the soldiers stationed on the coast of the capitol. That went on for a while and when I had reached my twenty fifth birthday I had earned my freedom."
He motioned to a small cafe on the strip and I nodded, him holding the door as we stepped in, the warmth engulfing both of us.
"Do you want a drink?"
He asked and I nodded.
"How about I get this one."
I offered, ordering before him and paying after him. When we had gotten our drinks we took to a booth in the very back of the cafe.
"So, you were free..."
He started and I let out a short laugh.
"Nice to know you're listening."
I said and he raised his cup to me. I cleared my throat.
"I was free, finally. It felt like forever to get there. But by then I was seen as too old; too old to Mary, to have kids, to live a life on my own. Many assumed I was a widow at this point, even moving back to new York with as progressive as it was still didn't feel right. It didn't feel like home anymore. Until I met him."
He raised a brow and I smiled to myself.
"My first real love, the one who made me."
"No pressure."
He said and I laughed, taking his one hand in mine. His body tensed.
"Don't worry, he's been dead a while."
I said, letting him go and he nodded once.
"Right."
I side nodded.
"Well to make that long story short, he proposed to me after two weeks of courting, we got married the following spring, and on our honeymoon he revealed to me what he really was."
"A crime boss?"
Bucky said and I laughed, him finally loosening up a bit as he took another drink.
"I think that would've been easier to live with but no. And I ask that you please don't laugh at this next part but rather, hear me out."
He rested both his hands on either side of his cup and gave me his full attention.
"Cross my heart."
He said and I sighed.
"He revealed to me that he was undead, that he was a vampire of sorts."
When I looked to him he looked like he was going to crack.
"I'm serious."
I said light hearted, hitting his shoulder as he started laughing.
"He turned me before our trip back to the city."
He nodded, rubbing his eye as he settled down, the smile still prevalent on his features.
"Sure."
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Now who's mocking who?"
I asked and he shook his head.
"It's just a little hard to believe is all. You seem like such a normal young woman. Maybe a history buff who digs this old man but still."
I snorted at his words, taking a drink.
"You are young in my eyes bucky, believe me."
He shook his head.
"Okay, this is what, 1840?"
"Forty two i think, but yeah."
He sent me a look.
"Let me just get back to the story okay?"
He held his hands up in defense.
"Please, by all means."
I playfully rolled my eyes.
"Thank you. Now we were home, I was a newby and was so hungry all the time. He was terrible at taming a new vampire and I did eat a few of our neighbors but we lived in a bad part of town so people didn't really question it much when residents went missing. But what I didn't realize is that we were being watched and one day when I came home from work I found my husband decapitated on our living room floor."
His eyes went wide.
"I cried like a maniac but when I had heard someone still in the apartment I attacked them. They told me they were assigned to kill me because I was too dangerous. I ended him and I've been on the run ever since. After that I was desperate to find new love again. I've had courtships over the years but the early 1900's were pretty rough. Every husband I ever had was drafted into a war that shouldn't have happened. And I don't fear for my life as much anymore since I've lived in almost every state in this stupid country,"
We both laughed a little at that.
"But I do think of it often. The later years, the eighties and nineties were much easier as far as life and lovers went but even then I couldn't stay with them long."
He seemed empathetic.
"Why not?"
"Well, many people don't employ the idea that you'll live longer than them, it's a losing game. And even those I was open with, they begged me to turn them but I always refused. It didn't seem worth it to put the hurt I felt onto anyone else. And I don't say this to scare you off bucky but I've lived, and I mean really lived. I had one husband murdered, three drafted and lost to war, and three divorces; two of which ended with my exs dying of natural causes shortly after getting into new relationships. One had a heart attack and the other passed during a surgery."
I paused, looking to the table as his eyes tried to study me.
"Ive heard about you, I've been to the Smithsonian exhibit and honestly it all seemed like a myth. But then your friend saw me and pushed you to ask me out I actually saw hope for the first time in a long time. It's not often I can find someone with as much... Uh, life experience."
He cleared his throat, looking away when I looked back up to him.
"I'm not perfect."
He said and I could feel my features soften.
"It's seems I've lived just as much but I don't know if I'd exactly call it living. I was an experiment, an assassin, and a broken man. I've got a troubled past and I'm trying to work through that. Hell I wasn't even sure I'd get through this date given how my last one went."
I half smiled at him, reaching for his hand again. He wasn't as hesitant as last time but was still tense as I took it away from his cup. I looked over his face before pulling the glove off, holding the cool metal against my palm and tracing the fingers of my other hand over it.
"I wasn't blipped, I saw the news, and I saw what was lost. And I think part of you got lost with it but at the end of the day you are trying to get better. You are a hero bucky, even if it doesn't feel like it."
I watched as his jaw clenched and tightened. Then he turned his hand over and held mine. It wasn't hard or uncomfortable but it was firm, like he meant it.
"I haven't had the luxury of opening up to many people in recent times but you feel different. And don't take this the wrong way but you do feel like home."
He said softly and I couldn't help the smile making its way to my lips.
"You wanna get out of here? Maybe go back to my place? The coffee is much better."
I joked and he smiled, intertwining our fingers.
"Yeah, I think id like that."

first off, your tumblr is dah bomb - please know that you're carrying the ferris fandom on your back. the thought you put into your posts is incredible <3 I'd love to see an in depth sloane analysis post, especially considering how much of a fan favourite she is despite her little known background / childhood / future goals. do you have any hc's towards her home life and where you could see her post fbdo? or hc's for her in general? possibly including her zodiac, love language and fears - just desperate for any form of peterson content. would also be interesting to see someone explore the possible neurodivergency presented in the film, i don't know if this is me projecting but all three seem possibly nd and i love that!
thank you!!! thats very sweet of you to say and as always it gets to me when i see people enjoying my blog. honestly at this point im not trying to curate a fandom im just trying to have fun with this movie lol, but its nice you think that. oh and im so happy youre a sloane fan and do want people to delve deeper with her character, and i should be doing more of that too, but for now i can link you with a few posts on my blog i think you'll enjoy! mostly from my friend zoe who was like so passionate about the movie and sloane's character and making fbdo headcanons, she was an absolute talent at that seriously i love her posts to death (if ur wondering where you can find them theyre at her old blog @fbdo1986 , she's cooled down on making stuff for the movie recently but i know it still holds a special place in her heart. she currently runs a great 60/70s centered blog at @petecochrans)
a post full of great sloane headcanons
a great post centered on sloane and cameron's disability headcanons
couple of sloane headcanons from a love ask game
a few sloane headcanons from when i participated in that same love ask game
also if you want more canonical sloane content the perfect place to get it from is the original draft of the fbdo screenplay, which im sure were filmed because apparently the original cut of the movie is two and a half hours long so hopefully by some miracle that cut will someday be released. but for now youve got the script, which has SO many good sloane parts in it building up her character, that i wish at least some of was kept in the final product. honestly the script is a mixed bag for me, cause it has some unecessary and awkward bits im glad were cut out, but then there are bits that i really enjoyed that develop sloane's and even ferris' characters more, but on the other hand cameron's character is developed less than in the final movie, and the trio doesnt seem as tight-knit in the script depsite the additional dialogue. then there were a few moments that were needlessly innappropriate and crude (and problematic cause as much as i dont like using that word for how much its been saturated in its use recently its like. accurate here, and reflects some of the movie's problems.) . someday i'll delve into my opinion of it in an essay/post thing but i dont have time or energy for that right now lol, so if you want read the script for yourself and see what you think.
as for the neurodivergency, ive been tempted to talk about it even though im not sure if im neurodivergent, but while ive been suspecting for a while i am i dont think im enough of an authority to talk about it (especially if im not diagnosed). i have seen a stray post here and there of nds headcanoning sloane and cameron as autistic, and ferris as having adhd, which from what i know fits pretty well. you could even say fer has a makeshift stim toy, the rabbit's foot he keeps in his pocket. it's shown he's rubbing it when he's at the bottom of the taxi and nervous about his dad seeing him (he even hands it to cameron for comfort), he's swinging it on its chain when talking to sloane and cameron after the parade while waiting for the car, and again he's shown rubbing it when he's saying goodbye to sloane toward the end.
anyway thank you so much for the ask, hope the answer is satisying enough :)

My Way
iv. Best Case Scenario
There was no point in trying to sneak back into the Hall.
Hongjoong had left the familiar comfort of his former home behind, scared out of reading his mother’s diary by a group of strangers who had been arriving to cart away their belongings, auctioning them off to who knows where.
It was all he needed to know his relatives had gone through with selling the cottage.
So he hid the book in the floorboards, walking back to Jangwon on tired feet, nowhere else to go, and took the verbal beating he knew to expect for running off like he had.
Except it wasn’t just Aunt Minkyung. It was Aunt Ajung, and Aunt Sohee, and even Sohee’s son Myungsoo and his fiancée Bora.
Hongjoong sighed and closed his eyes in exasperation, slowing to a stop in front of them.
It looked like they would be causing a scene in the entryway. One Hongjoong should’ve expected.
“Where have you been all night?” Minkyung snapped. Hongjoong didn’t even get a chance to answer.
“And the night before the funeral, no less!” Aunt Ajung muttered, clearly more upset about the inconvenience than anything else.
“Do you have any idea how worried we were? We thought we’d have to send a search party—” Sohee began but was interrupted by Aunt Minkyung again.
“You could’ve died, do you realise that?”
“Well, sorry to disappoint,” Hongjoong finally shot back, trying to get around the imposing gaggle of relations.
Scandalised gasps went up all around him but he kept walking.
The pair of gardeners tending the front lawn were wide-eyed and whispering to each other.
Suddenly someone yanked on Hongjoong’s arm, pulling him back. He was confronted with Aunt Minkyung’s incredibly red face, arm raised as if to deliver a slap.
“How dare you show such disrespect, you ungrateful—”
“Let me through!” Cousin Seyong’s voice broke through the chaos as he pushed past the crowd and pulled Hongjoong out of his mother’s firm grip. “No time, he needs to get ready.”
Confused but grateful to be whisked away from the confrontation, Hongjoong followed Seyong into the private wing occupied by the master of the hall and his immediate family, where Hongjoong had spent the night previously.
Yujung was there waiting and shushed Hongjoong before he could ask anything, scanning him up and down.
“Look at you, you’re filthy.”
He had nothing to say on the matter, so he let himself be scrubbed, washed, rinsed, and dressed. He had to admit as he stood in his best clothes and let Yujung wrangle his hair into something presentable, that it felt kind of nice. Something he had missed.
“You’re taking care of me.”
It sounded like a statement but underneath the emotionless exterior it was a question.
“Well, nothing’s decided. Not until this evening.”
They still had a funeral to get through.
Hongjoong nodded quickly and steeled himself. There was no guarantee of anything anymore. He knew that the moment the storm split their boat in two.
...
The sky was grey. No sunshine, and no rain. Just another average overcast day.
Everyone was assembled behind Jangwon on a hill facing east, the highest point in the town.
They were there, bathed in incense and dressed in grave clothes. They had already been bound in shrouds and waited to be lowered into the ground, with a final nail driven into the coffin lid symbolising the finality of their departure from this world. Those bodies weren’t Hongjoong’s parents anymore.
Uncle Ryeowook was reading off a speech about them, their achievements and contributions to Panhang, their dedication to their family and community, and most of all their tragic reminder to be cautious on the sea.
He said nothing about their kindness or their sense of humour. He wouldn’t remember them by their patience as teachers or their example of bravery. He didn’t know those things about them.
One by one, visitors came up and bowed twice to pay their respects. Hongjoong recognised nearly everyone, and tried not to make eye contact with his former friends and classmates.
His old neighbour Bosung placed a hand on his shoulder silently but left without saying anything else. Hongjoong was glad for it- the fewer awkward conversations, the better. Who knew what would become of those relationships, cut off and fizzled into nothingness once he became prisoner at his family’s behest.
Tuning out the loud wails of the women and turning away from the solemn faces of the men, Hongjoong’s eyes went to the ocean, imagining his parents waiting for him to hurry up and get on the boat so they could set sail and start their day.
When the guests dispersed to drink and stuff their faces with ceremonial food, Hongjoong lingered to bow one last time.
It was deep and long and full of emotions and apologies. The tears he kept at bay.
As he stood, he pictured them casting off without him, leaving him behind to explore fairer shores.
But it was alright, he could be patient.
He’d join them when it was time.
He wasn’t overwhelmed with sadness anymore; he was quietly but fiercely angry.
Nothing Mother and Father needed to know about.
...
“I know about the gossip.”
An embarrassed Yujung turned from where she had been scolding a whispering servant and faced Hongjoong.
He kept talking, mindlessly slicing into pieces of fruit but neglecting to eat them.
“They throw the word orphan around, they say I’ll never inherit anything. That I’m no better than a servant in my own home.”
“It doesn’t matter what they say,” Yujung insisted, shooing away the servants before they could do anymore harm and sitting down across from him, grabbing his arm with conviction.
The action shocked him into slicing himself, flinching at the small trickle of blood coming from his hand. The wound barely registered as Yujung hurriedly snatched up a handkerchief and pressed it to the cut. Hongjoong simply shook his head and went on, “But it’s true. In the best case scenario, I’ll be granted some form of independence until I can escape and take care of myself.”
“Don’t speak like that,” Yujung scolded quietly, with a lot less vigour than anyone else in the Hall would’ve. “We want what’s best for you.”
“Maybe you want what’s best for me,” Hongjoong chuckled dryly. “No one else in this house does.”
He had been snacking on leftover fruit from the funeral all afternoon while his aunts and uncles entertained their guests and then shut the study door again so they could discuss his future living arrangements.
Eventually even Yujung had to leave and give them her opinion. Hongjoong didn’t have much hope in her ability to better his situation, not after what happened last time.
One of the servants came and called him to the room at half past six.
Now was the part when they stopped talking about him behind his back and invited him to the face to face conversation.
Uncle Ryeowook beckoned him forward around the side of the desk and so he went, ignoring the eyes he could feel on him.
“Assuming you don’t want to be sent to an orphanage, we’ve come up with a solution, Hongjoong.”
He said it like he should be grateful for such merciful intervention.
“We think you’ll like it,” Aunt Minkyung added from behind her husband. “Very much in fact.”
Aunt Ajung got straight to the point, reading from the legal document the assembled family members had drafted up. “Technically, you’ll be in the custody of the master of the hall, that’s Ryeowook, but Seyong and Yujung will be your primary caretakers until they have children of their own, as Ryeowook and Minkyung have little time and patience for another child.”
Well, that was a relief.
“Your education will continue under the family tutor, but at your age we’ll be expecting you to work for your keep. In the fields, or the mines, or the kitchens— wherever you’re needed. It will depend on the day.”
It was bare minimum provision, with the slight advantage that he’d be in the care of the least abhorrent of his relatives, but bare minimum nonetheless.
Aunt Minkyung smiled a tight smile at him like she was confused why he wasn’t on his knees thanking them. “It’ll be useful to have someone so flexible helping to run Jangwon!” She explained cheerfully.
Hongjoong knew what they were playing at.
He was old enough to take on responsibility but young enough not to be granted freedom.
He was well bred enough to be taught social graces but low enough on the ladder to work for free.
So he simply bowed to each of his superiors, extra deeply to Seyong and Yujung, and padded upstairs silently like the outcast he was.
Minutes or hours later- he couldn’t be sure- his new guardians came to find him sitting by the window watching the sun shrink behind the clouds.
The mysterious stranger’s prediction had been right. The second storm was arriving after all.
Cousin Seyong cleared his throat uncomfortably and tried to offer some condolence. “I’m sorry, it’s the best we could do...”
“But I did push for them to give you more time,” Yujung broke in. “Time to, you know, grieve and... and integrate with the routine here... all of that.”
Hongjoong turned to face them and forced a smile. “Thank you,” he said, and he meant it. The meeting could’ve turned out a lot worse. “Is there any way I’ll be allowed out on my own from now on?”
The couple glanced at each other indecisively. They’d never been parents, they hadn’t the first clue how to proceed with respects to a boy already approaching his teens.
“Well, you’ve run away once, I wouldn’t put it past you to do so again,” Seyong sighed honestly. “Perhaps as long as you stay away from the cliffside and the beach...”
“Provided you tell us when and where,” Yujung amended quickly. “And you’re always encouraged to bring someone with you.”
“Not that you’ll have much time for wandering anyway,” Cousin Seyong pointed out, pulling the curtains shut, blocking Hongjoong’s view of the coast, and preparing to leave the room. “You’ll be busy with lessons and work and such.”
Keeping him occupied so he couldn’t cause trouble. That was the plan.
Hongjoong nodded his acceptance of the conditions and bade both of them goodnight.
They were worried about him, he could see that, but things were off to such a clumsy start, Hongjoong didn’t put much on their ability to control him.
Not when he already had a destination in mind.
For most of the day he’d sat alone while chaos ensued around him. There would be a small window of time for him to get away unseen but he knew the road well.
As he lay awake, he thought of the family moving into his cottage tomorrow morning. They would have no idea what it had once been like. Maybe they would even move the furniture or change the decorations.
It wouldn’t hurt to simply observe the proceedings from a safe distance, he decided.
Rain was falling on the windows, and his pillow had grown wet, but only from his own tears.
His aunts always told him not to cry, but they weren’t around to admonish him.
For once, he was happy to be alone.
...

whispered truce
Chapter Seven: Diplomatic Solution, part iv
_________
It… was actually a really good idea.
Zuko wasn’t sure if it was surprise he felt that she’d come up with something so ingenious, or if it was embarrassment that he hadn’t thought of it first. It’s admiration, a voice that sounded curiously like his uncle’s whispered in the back of his mind. He ignored that voice. Behind him, the Avatar’s waterbender hovered over his shoulder, watching.
“You’re being distracting,” he said, a little irritably. Did she have to stand so close? His arm still tingled with a pleasant coolness from where she healed him.
“Oh,” she said. “Sorry.” Except—she also didn’t move.
Zuko set the calligraphy brush on its porcelain stand and twisted to look back at her. “What is it? Did I miss a stroke in a character? Are my brush lines not clear enough? Do you have an issue with my wording?”
Despite his flurry of questions, Zuko didn’t expect an answer; he expected her to take the bigger hint and give him a little more breathing room. Forging a letter from the Royal Palace Ministry of Domestic Culinary Affairs took a bit more precision from his brush strokes than he tended to give them, and that was considerably more difficult to accomplish with a waterbender breathing down his neck.
She blinked a few times, as if not realizing she was practically invading his personal space. More frustratingly, she still didn’t move.
“I’ve never seen someone actually write that well before.”
That caught him off-guard. “Well, I mean—” he started. “My handwriting isn’t normally this formal. But it has to look official.”
“Still,” she said, leaning even closer over his shoulder so she could reach out and brush fingertips along the empty space to the left of his last line. “The lines are just so crisp and decisive.”
A strange shiver snaked up Zuko’s spine at her words, which he attributed to the time limit and pressure they were under to get this done and in the right place before dawn. He cleared his throat, giving her a pointed look which was completely hidden by the mask. Finally, she got the message and straightened, stepping away from him to walk over to the door of the storehouse. With nowhere else either could really think of, they’d headed back to the record keeper’s storehouse. It still stank in here, but once the waterbender had crystalized the air and captured what she said were droplets of the foul smell lingering in the air, it was bearable. Zuko had no idea what she was talking about, or how crystalizing a scent even worked, but he chalked it up to being a waterbender thing, and so had set to work drafting up a fake letter to forge.
Her plan was simple, but Zuko thought it had a really good chance of working. All the domestic shipments of food and cooking items that weren’t homemade by families or produced in local towns were shipped out from the capital. That included things like rice, barley-wheat flour, soy sauce—and nam-pla. The letter he was writing made the proclamation that an unknown number of nam-pla containers across several shipments got contaminated, and would soon go bad if they hadn’t already. It claimed that because the contaminant had been caught only after the shipments were dispersed, it would take too much time to send representatives to every location and check all the jars that had been already distributed to only get rid of the bad ones. In order to expedite the health and safety of all Fire Nation citizens, it is hereby decreed by the Ministry of Domestic Cultural Affairs of the Royal Palace that all current stores of nam-pla be disposed of. City, town, and village officials are to order a double shipment with their next procurement requests to the capital in order to replenish stores. Failure to comply will be considered a lapse in public stewardship of citizens and location officials will be dealt with accordingly.
“What if they don’t actually get rid of this stuff?” the waterbender worried from her spot by the door. It was cracked open to let fresh air in, and a slant of moonlight spilled in through the opening. “It’ll be really suspicious when no actual officials show up to ensure the jars have been disposed of.”
“They’ll do it,” Zuko replied, picking the calligraphy brush up again to finish the letter.
A beat of silence passes, and he can almost tangibly feel the tension of her concern. “What makes you so sure?”
He didn’t pause in his brush strokes. “I think the mayor here will spook easily enough and comply. From what I’ve gathered, people have only been getting sick recently, so being caught so quickly would most likely make him want to get rid of the evidence. After that, hopefully it won’t matter that Culinary Affairs officials never show up because the poison will be gone, and word will have reached the capital about the skimming he’s been doing here for the last few years.”
“But that also means people won’t be coming around to make sure every jar’s been disposed of. What if some families don’t?”
That thought had occurred to him, as well. Zuko frowned at the scroll, pausing only momentarily in his writing. They couldn’t afford to waste too much more time if he kept stopping mid-sentence. Beneath the wood of the Blue Spirit mask, his mouth pressed into a tight line.
“We just have to trust they’ll all follow the order.”
He heard her pace a few steps behind him. “What if they mayor doesn’t let the people know? How can we be sure the word will actually get out?” Her pacing stopped short. “What if he thinks it comes from someone trying to work against him?”
It was strange, hearing his own concerns voiced so clearly to him. “I think,” he said, slowly, “that so long as this looks really official, he’ll do what it says.” Zuko finished the line he was working on. “I did put in that officials will be coming around to gather the emptied jars and check for compliance, so…”
“That worry will hang over him like a bad banana.”
“Yeah—wait, what?” Her comparison struck him so odd as to be funny, and it caused him to pause so long before starting the final line of the letter, he nearly forgot himself and let ink drip onto the scroll. Thankfully, he caught himself in time and moved the brush away. He’d have to start a whole other letter if a stray splatter of ink found its way onto what was supposed to be an “official” document.
He twisted back to look at her, and saw she had a sheepish smile on her face. She shrugged. “I don’t know, seemed like a fitting saying.”
Zuko shook his head and was glad that his own smile was hidden by the mask. “That was a really bad attempt at a metaphor.”
“Not if that bad banana falls on his head,” she insisted, and he honestly couldn’t tell if she was serious or joking. Why would she be joking with him, after all?
“Is… the fake letter the bad banana?” he asked, unable to stop himself.
“Well, the fake threat of officials coming from the Royal Palace are. The letter’s more the peel.”
Despite himself, despite everything, he almost laughed at that. At the sound, the waterbender seemed to realize the banter starting between them and thought better of it. She cleared her throat a little.
“How’s it coming along?”
Right. Back to business. But… the banter was a good sign, wasn’t it? Maybe if he won her over a little bit, she’d help convince the others that he should be the one to train the Avatar firebending. That was his ultimate goal, anyway.
“Nearly finished,” he replied, picking up the brush again and getting back to work. After a moment, he leaned back a bit to scrutinize his handiwork. “There’s only one thing left.”
“Where to take it?”
“Well—before that. The signature stamp.”
“Oh.” It was clear by the fall of her voice that she understood his concern. “Do you… know it?”
He knew it well enough—most of the Ministries’ seals were variations of one another, and incorporated some part of the seal of the Royal Palace. He’d had them all drilled into him relentlessly during his schooling, so much that he doubted he’d ever forget one. “That’s not the issue. I can recreate it, but it definitely won’t look like it’s stamped.”
“I think I can help with that, too. Can you write it on another scroll?”
Unsure of how exactly she could help, Zuko did as she asked anyway. With careful strokes he replicated the seal to the best of his memory. It was a pretty good rendition of it, that was for sure, but any other thoughts he might have had on it were interrupted by a soft crackling beside him.
The waterbender was shaping the end of a small block of ice while staring intently at the seal he’d replicated on the scroll. When she was finished, she carefully pressed the carved end against the still-wet ink, then used that to stamp the scroll beside the written seal.
“How’s that?”
He compared it to the one he’d written. “Almost. This line should be a little more tapered, and that one just a bit straighter.” Zuko watched as she made the adjustments and made another stamp. He nodded his approval. “Won’t the ice melt into the ink, though?”
The waterbender shrugged, unconcerned. “All ink is, really, is charcoal and water and a little thickening ingredient. I can just evaporate the excess water if need be, but it probably will be so little it won’t make a difference.”
Beneath the wood of his mask, Zuko’s eyebrow lifted in startled appreciation. “You know how to make ink?”
“I know how to make a lot of things,” was her reply. She moved her fingers over the seal he’d written with a fluid twist of her wrist, and the black ink glistened in the lantern light.
“Wait,” he said suddenly, just as she was poised to re-ink the seal. “It should be red.”
Quickly, he rummaged through the storeroom until he found what he was looking for—a small porcelain container with the iconic red seal ink that every letter-writing Fire Nation citizen had. He removed the lid and set it down next to the extra scroll.
“Here.”
With precision, she removed the outermost layer of ice on her block to clear away the black ink still clinging to the corners and contours she’d carved, then dipped the end into the container. Once the seal was coated in red, she hesitated and looked at the forged letter scroll.
Sensing her question before she asked, he directed her to the proper location for the seal, then held his breath for the brief moment she hovered directly above the scroll with the seal before pressing it firmly against the paper. When she drew back, Zuko looked over the letter, nodding.
“This looks…”
“Pretty official,” she finished.  “Do you know where it should go? Or who we should leave it for?”
“Yeah. But… it’s gonna be a little more involved.”

You were more than an ex-girlfriend to Jimin. You were his whole world for a brief moment of his life. If anyone were to value you anything less, he would not hesitant to defend you. You and Jimin dated in sophomore year of high school, almost being destined as high school sweethearts, almost.
Long distance had become strenuous for the both of you, mainly you. Jimin didn’t stray far from your hometown, but you had traveled miles away. It wasn’t until your second year of college when things were becoming clear that you two were not working out.
Phone calls slowly became a hassle. You never really came back home for the holidays, so Jimin saw you a lot less. It was simply two separate lives and no matter how much Jimin wanted to stay together, the relationship had been taking a toll on you.
Jimin was definitely more emotionally stable than you were. He didn’t have to move far from home for college, so his support system was still close. His best friends, Taehyung, Hoseok and Jungkook went to the same college as him. He didn’t need you as much as you needed him, physically.
You were thousands of miles away from your family and friends. You went to the college of your dreams, but you had to start over. So being in an old relationship in the next chapter of your life was hard. You were meeting new people every week your first quarter in school, but every happy face felt fake. There was no familiarity and the loneliness ate you up by the end of your second quarter.
Seeing Jimin through your screen only made you miss him more. Hearing his voicemails made you cry harder. You’d always think you’d adjust, eventually, but you never did. And admitting all that pain to Jimin was the hardest thing you had to do.
The breakup was not bad, but it also was not the best. You knew you couldn’t stay friends with Jimin, because you were still madly in love with this man and so was he. To move on, you had to avoid any contact with him and that didn’t sit well with him. He was too stubborn to move on. He kept telling you that he’d wait for when you’d come back for him.
Those were not the words you wanted to hear. Jimin respected your decision to break up, but it was his own to decide whether or not to move on. Frankly, you thought he’d give up on you the moment the second quarter started. It was college, and you were never the one to hold him back from having fun and going to parties. The boys went to parties practically every weekend, some were for the sake of meeting new people to hook up with.
As much as his friends did those things, Jimin remained incredibly loyal to you. No other girl could compare to his girlfriend and if someone were to make a move on him, he’d stop it immediately. He’d text you when he got back to his dorm after every party, drunk or sober (most of the times, he was drunk). He didn’t hesitate to brag about his wonderful girlfriend to his entire hall. Jimin was all about you, it had always been like that for him.
So it was no surprise when he reacted the way he did during the breakup. Jimin swore that he’d come back for you one day. You meant everything to him and he knew you like the back of his hand; he knew you better than yourself. You two had a history that no one else had.

Jimin was coming down for the long weekend with the boys for a close friend’s weekend long birthday extravaganza. It had been six months since you two last spoke, but the mention of your college caused his heart to shake.
“I highly doubt we’d see her at the party. Namjoon told me that he has never bumped into (y/n).” Hoseok waved off Jimin’s nerves before Namjoon greeted the boys with open arms and a big grin.
“My favorites, I’m glad you were all able to make it down here for my big birthday bash.” He wrapped his arms around Jungkook’s broad shoulders and bumped at Jimin’s arm, “lighten up. You won’t see her here tonight.”
“And what makes you so sure about that?”
Namjoon shrugged nonchalantly, “you’ll be too drunk to register her face if she does show up.”
His statement earned several laughs from the boys, but Jimin could only roll his eyes. He really debated on simply going home and skipping this weekend trip because now, he was too close for comfort. He was on your territory and he wasn’t sure what to do if he saw you again.
Six months was not enough time for Jimin to fully move on. He slept around with a few girls, but you were always in the back of his mind. Whenever he closed his eyes, your sweet smile would flash in the darkness. He would have reoccurring dreams about your shared memories. He’d hate to admit it, but he really missed you.
But your words rang in his ears whenever he would selfishly indulged in your past, “I don’t want to see you for a very long time, Jimin. I just won’t be able to do it. I won’t be able to move on if we stayed friends.” He wanted to uphold your wishes because you still meant so much to him, it was the least he could do.
Jimin entered Namjoon’s huge house, the scent of alcohol and weed filling his system and music traveling through his pulse. There were occasionally greetings from a few mutuals and smiles from pretty girls, but Jimin went through the house without much defeat.
Jungkook was lost in the crowd after passing by a group of girls. Namjoon was bombarded with hugs and birthday wishes. Jimin headed towards the standing bottles of alcohol, pouring himself a cup full of something dark. He sipped his drink, scanning the house as he leaned against the kitchen island.
He finished his drink with impressive speed, not entirely aware of the rate he was consuming. The moment he turned around to pour himself another cup, a voice caused him to freeze. “Can you also pour me one?”
He had thought the alcohol was tricking him into believing the voice belonged to you, but when he turned around... he knew it wasn’t the alcohol messing with him. “(y/n).”
You blinked back at his stunned figure, equally as shocked. He admired how good you looked. He had to stifle in a laugh at your revealing, black dress. It hung loose around your shoulders and wrapped around your middle --- the dress he bought you for your guys’ 2nd anniversary.
He wasn’t sure what to believe at this point --- the fact that you’re actually standing in front of him after such an extensive time or the fact that you still wore the things he bought you.
“What are you doing here?” Your voice was just above a whisper and your hand automatically went to twirl the necklace around your neck. It had a small pendant of the first letter of your name and your fingers instinctively went towards it whenever you got nervous.
Jimin set down his drink, “I’m close friends with Namjoon.”
“No way. My friend has the same writing class as him.” You tried to act normal, like you didn’t bump into your ex-boyfriend at a party. He looked exactly like how you left him, maybe a bit more tired and gray. Oh how you missed his soft, plump lips or how strong his arms felt.
As much as you wanted to forget about him, he always resurfaced in your mind at the strangest times. You could be studying and he’d pop up. You’d be clubbing with your friends and you’d think he was across the room. You still held onto him.
“It was good seeing you again, (y/n).” Jimin said before he handed you a cup of your favorite mix.
“Wait---” The words were flowing out of your mouth before you could catch them. “---Do you want to dance?” You couldn’t see him go anymore.
His eyes lit up and he smiled, something that always ran chills down your spine. “You want to dance with me?”
“Why not?” You smiled back and finished your cup before hitting the crowds of drunk, dancing people. You had gotten really close to Jimin, to the point where your chest was against his.
You could tell he was holding back, like he was trying so hard to respect your space still. But you blinked back up at his sad eyes, and noticed they were filled with love and wonder. And almost every memory you two shared came crushing down, wrapping you in nostalgia.
Grabbing his hands, you let them rest on your waist and his eyes widen at your bold action. Maybe it was the alcohol doing all the work, but you really wish he’d stop holding back. You always remembered Jimin to have huge restraint and patient. He was strong willed --- stubborn --- and was reserved. But once his boundaries were gone, he was something amazing.
“Why are you holding back, Jimin?” You asked before you could process the question. An evident pout appeared on your face and his hands dropped from your body.
“I can’t, (Y/N). I refuse to give you all of me just for you to hurt me again.” He whispered and walked off the dance floor. That was one of the biggest blows you’ve ever felt. You hurried on after him, trying to find a needle in a hay stack.
It was difficult, everyone blended with one another and you weren’t fully sober to play Where’s Jimin. You spotted a frantic Jungkook being mauled by girls left and right, so you hurried toward the crowd. You grabbed Jungkook by his collar and dragged him out of the sea of desperate girls.
You two stood outside of the house and Jungkook took several deep breaths before thanking you for saving him, “now, what do you want?”
“Where did Jimin go?”
“Why do you care where he went?” He said leaning against the stature of the overflowing building. The stern look on his face caused much intimidation and it was as if he had forgotten all the great memories you two had shared as friends.
Sighing, you racked your brain for any reasonable explanation besides that you want to see him. It was selfish of you to not consider how Jimin still felt about you, but you had been restraining yourself from viewing his social medias and even thinking about him at night. It was as if something went off when you did see him, you simply wanted more.
“Because I want to apologize to him for what had just happened. Please.” You were on the verge of tears and Jungkook rolled his eyes.
“Follow me.” He grumbled and started walking up the stairs to the second floor. He walked past several doors in the hallway before reaching the end. He knocked a specific pattern and the door cracked open slightly. Jungkook gestured for you to enter and whispered, “don’t hurt him anymore. That is all I ask of you.” Jungkook walked away as you entered the big room.
Jimin sat on the edge of the neatly made bed, back facing you. “Whatever it is, Kook, I don’t want to hear it right now.” His voice was hoarse and raspy.
“Jimin, I’m sorry for pushing you out there like that.”
His body turned stiff, like a thief caught in a crime. He cleared his throat, “it’s fine.”
“No, it’s not fine. I was never considerate to how you felt, and I want to change that.” The bed shifted with you weight pulling the mattress. Jimin’s warmth surround your left side and it hurt for you to remember how safe you felt in it.
He was hesitant to reach for your hand, but you grabbed his to reassure him. “I’m still so in love with you.” He admitted. His thumb ran across your knuckles. “Every time I see you, I feel nostalgic. There is no one in the whole world that knows me like you do and that means something. You will always mean something to me.”
And you blinked at him with words unspoken. Your heart was shaking in the palms of his hands. A part inside of you felt okay with that, like if were to let anyone ruin your life, it would be him.
Jimin picked up your chin. Looking into his glossy, red eyes, he read every bit of you and searched for the one sign he needed. Then he saw it, the familiar small twinkle in your eyes, and he knew exactly how you felt.

Caramel Skin Under a Vanilla Sky prt 39 full draft
Lance wasn't doing ok. Physically he was getting better, but as the infection in his chest cleared around the two and a half movements mark since the crash and now surgery loomed around the corner. The procedure wouldn't be performed on the Atlas, but instead on New Altea. Lance didn't want to leave so many things unanswered. He didn't want to be pushed aside and disregarded, which was exactly what felt like was happening. Keith was his main line with the outside world. Shiro dropped by from time to time, sometimes Curtis was with him and sometimes he was. Hunk had come by twice but was acting distant, unable to meet his eyes despite the fact he'd nearly crushed him in a hug as he cried his eyes out over being so worried about him. Shay had shyly come to enquire about his health and wish him well. Krolia had thanked him for his service and thanked him for getting Keith back home in one piece. Even Zak had ventured up to tell him he was an "idiot", but "an idiot that had done a good job". He knew Acxa and Keith's team had come by when he'd been napping, catching the tail end of the four of them talking outside the door... So he didn't know why he felt so hollow inside. Actually. He did. His fight with Veronica. His sister angered that he'd taken such measures without thinking of their family, and without consulting her about it. He couldn't admit the truth of what happened with Klearo to her. He couldn't admit that he'd fucked up from the very beginning then was tricked by someone who he looked up to. Veronica had basically insinuated that he was a burden, who didn't know what he was doing and should have stayed on Earth. She didn't get it. She didn't get to him that being a "burden" was his greatest fear. She didn't get that his drug and alcohol abuse had steadily grown worse, or understand the way he wrecked their family with his mere presence. Keith tried his hardest to help him through his moods and panic attacks, but he felt like he was shackling Keith down with his depression. Keith who still treated him like he was the most treasured person in existence. Keith who said they'd work things out... then left things in the air. It wasn't like he wanted to talk to the ship's councillor... but when they didn't come by his room, he had to wonder if Keith wasn't secretly enjoying him being so messed. The disgusting thought left him unable to look his boyfriend's way for vargas, ultimately serving to hurt Keith when he hadn't done anything wrong. Which he wasn't. Shiro's actions had told him that. No. It wasn't fair to blame Shiro. Keith had desperately needed the healing pod, and Lance couldn't be more relieved that his boyfriend had been healed. He just... felt... insignificant. No matter how he sat or laid, some part of his body hurt. He missed eating real food, being stuck on a liquid diet until after the surgery. He missed being able to move around, and shower unaided. Keith had been granted permission to help him shower. Each of the sticky sensor pads had left bruised behind after pealed off his tender skin. He was losing weight again, and losing his drive. He wasn't ok, and was only getting worse as he was kept waiting, unable to feel like he was being punished for getting Keith in harms way, by not being healed. He got that the Atlas couldn't leave it's orbit over the Altean ship while the investigation was on going, but didn't get why Shiro didn't open a wormhole to New Altea so that he could be put in a pod. Being comatose for a phoeb or three sounded ideal when compared to sitting in a very uncomfortable hospital bed, or trapped in his nightmares all night long thanks to the sedatives Daehra had prescribed to help him sleep through his nightly coughing fits. Lance didn't want to take more drugs. The more he craved them, the more he tried to push them away. He knew it was dangerous to fall back into his bad habits, but these new ones were working for him. They weren't filling up that hole in his heart from being unwanted, or easing the guilt he felt from relying on Keith. Quintant after quintant he was left laying there as it blurred together. To him it was like being left that cell all over again. He was constantly waiting to wake up and find himself being dragged out to Klearo's bed. Or to wake up and find himself still in the outpost, with Keith having been stolen away and cut to pieces. He wasn't stupid. He knew there had to be a network of connections when it came to Kre'el. She was just one woman... A woman he wanted answers from. A woman who'd lied to him so seamlessly and easily that the thought of her made him feel physically ill. None of these symptoms were going to clear before he was forced off the Atlas. Shiro probably didn't want him to ever return. He probably didn't want him anywhere near his team, and it didn't matter how illogical the arguments were for why that was so, his anxieties had him wrapped around their little finger. Shiro wouldn't haven't jumped in to help him, had it been him alone. He knew it. Like really knew it. The voice in his head whispered it over and over, never a kind word directed his way. He was his own worst enemy. With each quintant that passed, he was sure he was moving that much closer to insanity... Sure he was slipping away from the most wonderful boyfriend a guy could ask for. He didn't want to tie Keith down with his mental health issues. He didn't want to keep having panic attacks out of nowhere, and dreams he couldn't wake from. He wanted to be strong for Keith, but had no idea where to begin. * With his arms loaded up with bedding from the Telula and a treat from Hunk, Keith was running late. Daehra was on "Lance Duty" for the morning, his panic attacks so bad that Keith didn't want him left alone. He honestly feared for Lance hurting himself without realising he'd done it, or even worse, being caught up in a flashback and lashing out against someone he loved. Neither of them were really happy about Lance being transferred off the Atlas and out to New Altean, without answers. Lance was going through so much and taking him away without giving him answers was cruel as hell. His boyfriend wasn't reacting well to the news, hence why he'd dropped down to the kitchen to see if Hunk had something chocolaty to lift his spirits, then it was down to the Telula to get Lance a nicer blanket than the one on his hospital bed, back up to the kitchen to collect two chocolate milkshakes that looked like everything Lance wasn't supposed to be having. Lance's was packed with extra vitamins and minerals, but Keith had forgotten which one was which. His mind too busy. With Daehra and Lucteal, who was acting like Lance's personal bodyguard and limiting access to Lance's room, he knew he had the time to rustle up his surprise after a quick check up to make sure his ankle was healed properly... only for Shiro to corner him just short of his end goal. The expression his brother wore could only mean trouble... Opening the door to the room beside him, Shiro had planned to ambush him. The conveniently empty room said as much. Taking the milkshakes out of his hands, Shiro placed them down on the desk by the door, before crossing his arms and giving him his best "dad" look "Something you want to tell me?" "Uh? I was grabbing a blanket for Lance..." "Not about that. Well, about Lance, but something a little more pressing" "Not that I can think of..." Keith was confused. Shiro had that calm anger thing going on, like he was ready to snap, or turn on that disappointed tone. Personally Keith would prefer the violence, but knew Shiro would opt for disappointment because it hurt more. Reaching into his pocket, Shiro pulled out a small vial of shimmering red liquid. Keith's shock was written all over his face as he stared at the vial. Daehra wasn't stupid enough to just leave one laying around... and he had no idea how he was about to talk his way out of this. Opening his mouth, he made a weird kind of squeak before getting the words out "How did you get that?" "When Lance kept refusing painkillers, I watched over the camera footage from his room, and what do I see? I see Daehra injecting this into Lance's IV daily. I've had it analysed Keith" This wasn't his secret to be telling... Shiro had no right putting him in this position "Do you want me to tell you what I found? Or should I have you tell me what I found?" "I... ugh..." "You what Keith? Do you know how dangerous this is! You've known about this for phoebs, haven't you!?" Keith wasn't sure how Shiro pulled off apocalyptic rage that sounded do disappointed. Shaking, he nearly dropped the blankets "What were you thinking?" "Lance..." "Lance what? Didn't want me to know? You should have known better. I told you how dangerous this stuff is. If he has a drug problem, you should have told me immediately. Do you know how dangerous this is? How addictive this is? Do you understand what kind of a situation you've put me in?" Tears rolled down Keith's face and dripped onto the blankets, unable to meet Shiro's eyes "Well, do you?" "Sh-Shiro... it's not what you think" "What I think is that Lance has a drug problem you've neglected to inform me of. Do you have any idea what kind of complications that this could have caused during his surgery?" "You don't understand..." "Then tell me!" It'd been years since Keith had felt the fear that had his heart racing and his stomach flipping. The fear that came from parents or parental figures... dropping to squat, he buried his face in Lance's blanket, breathing in his scent as he tried to calm down "Then I'll go ask him..." "No!" "Then start talking. Does Coran know? Is this the secret you've all been hiding from me?" Keith shook his head. Yes, it was a secret, but not that one "You don't understand... what he's been through" "What's that supposed to mean?" "I can't... Shiro... it's not my secret to tell" "I'm sick of hearing that. This stuff could kill him. Is that what you want? Lance dead?" Falling back onto his arse, Keith shook his head "He could have died on the operating table" "Shut up!" "Keith, tell me what's going on!" "They got him addicted to it! They kept him drugged up while they tortured him! We... he... we left him alone... he was doing everything he could to forget... we've been... working on... bringing him off of the drugs. He's been making progress... then this happened. He doesn't want to be dependant on them. He doesn't want to..." Breaking down into sobs, Keith felt awful. Another precious secret gone up in flames because of him. Gulping for air, Keith hugged the blanket tighter as he rocked "We were working on this... he was getting better... you had no right..." "Keith..." "No! Don't you dare! Don't you dare... He's my husband, of course I knew about it. Of course I was helping him with. Of course he was trying to get past it... You have no idea how bad Earth was for him. He feels like he broke his whole fucking family... They kept him on this stuff... and... he doesn't want to be... he doesn't want to take them... that's why he wouldn't take more medication. He knows he has a problem, but you can't even trust him! You couldn't trust that Daehra understood. She didn't know how bad those injections were... not until... until after... I came. He couldn't cope, Shiro. He felt like none of us wanted him... he still doesn't feel wanted. This was his case and you're sending him away with no answers. He was working hard out here... only to be betrayed" Angered, Keith didn't realise the slip of his tongue calling Lance his "husband". He couldn't stop crying "I don't want him to die... I don't want him to die... he's my whole fucking world... Coran... we... would have talked to him... not where you could find out. All he's wanted is your respect. He... can't see how amazing he is... because he feels so inferior to everyone..." Keith hiccuped "He's falling apart because of this... you don't know what it's been like for him..." "Lance could have reached out for help at any time" "No..." "Yes. He knows we would be there" "No he didn't!" "Keith, you need to calm down for me" "How can I do that!? You just accused me of wanting him dead!" "I..." Keith knew Shiro pushed because he worried for the pair of them, but that didn't mean anything. He'd well and truly crossed a line "I'm sorry. But you can understand how much of a shock this has been" "It wouldn't have been a shock if you could just trust people..." "He has a drug problem" "And we were dealing with it" "What if something had happened?" "Like what?" "Like he hurt someone when he was high" "It doesn't work like that. Lance doesn't get violent without a good reason" "Are you saying that as his partner or as his friend?" "Both. He's in so much pain all the time... we've been working so hard to get though things" "And that fight you had, where he left, was that to do with this?" Keith shook his head "That's between Lance and Krolia. As far as I know, she and he have talked" "You've still left me in a tough position" "It doesn't have to be. You're sending him away anyway..." "I'm not sending him away. I'm transferring him so he could have surgery and finally go into a pod" "Something you couldn't have done sooner? You couldn't have shipped Kre'el off to Altea?" "No. You know that as well as I do" "It feels like according to you, I know nothing. It's not my first time around drugs, Shiro. You know what those homes were like. You know you can't do jack shit to help anyone who doesn't want help. He asked for help" Sighing, Shiro moved to squat down across him "You know I care about both of you. I'm just shocked that you didn't come to someone who was more experienced to get advice and help for him" "I talked to you. I talked to Coran. I talked to Krolia. I even talked to Lance's mum. But none of you could tell me what I needed to know. How could I betray his trust like that? He needs safety and stability. He needed to get his feet back under him" "I'm proud of you for trying to help him, but you're not trained in these kinds of things. Frankly I don't know if I can continue to let Daehra treat him when she's been giving him such a dangerous substance. I love you both, and all I want is the best for Lance, but you understand that these secrets aren't helping him, or helping me to figure out how to help him" "Shiro... please..." "We're both going to have a little talk with Lance about this" "You can't" Keith's heart was breaking. Lance was going to be torn apart by this. He was already depressed as it was. The conversations they did have were never about what happened, Lance steering away from the topic every time they nudged it. If they weren't talking, Lance wanted to cuddle... but his husband would stay silent for vargas at an end. He'd been so focused on getting Lance through the surgery and then into some kind of counselling and help like he'd asked for that he hadn't foreseen this kind of a speed bump. Carrying the two milkshakes with shaky hands, Shiro had plucked the blanket out his hold as the pair walked into Lance's room. Lucteal had practically glared at Shiro, acting like he didn't want to allow them access to Lance's room. And quiznak if Keith wished he hadn't. Sitting up in his bed, Lance's face brightened up at the sight of him, before falling as Shiro followed into the space "Babe... have you been crying?" Stupid Lance, seeing right through him even when he was trying to hold it all. Shaking harder, Keith barely made it to Lance's left side, placing the milkshakes down on a rather expensive looking machine that was off "It's ok, babe. I'm ok. Daehra, can you give the three of us a little space?" "She should..." "Shiro, trust me on this. Daehra, it's ok. We just need to talk to Lance about something" Daehra's eyes flicked to the IV bag, her empathic senses probably knowing what this was about "Lucteal and I will be right outside" Nodding, Lance seemed to retreat further into himself "Why don't you two go rest? I have a feeling this isn't going to be all that fun, so I'm already scheduling my after scowling nap. I've already had it all from Veronica, so we might as well get Shiro off the list too" "Alright, I understand. Keith, you know what to monitor for?" Avoiding Lance's gaze, Keith jumped at Daehra's question "Uh... yeah. Go ahead" "Please do not upset him further. He has been through quite a lot. A lot of which you would not understand" There was no settling the silent thing going on between Daehra, Lucteal and Shiro. He'd hoped for Lance's sake the would have patched up their differences over the past three movements, but that remained a big fat nope. Leaving the room, the three of them were left with a few very pregnant moments silence passing between them. Keith couldn't take knowing what was coming. He'd very nearly avoided a panic of his own under Shiro's words. Lance seemed to know whatever was going on wasn't something he wanted to talk about, and Shiro... had flicked out the blanket and was now laying it over Lance's bed. Which was supposed to be his job. He didn't want Shiro's stupid scent on his boyfriend's sheets "What is this about? Can you just spit it out already? Did you get data off the ship from the samples? Is that it?" Lance let out a dry laughed before continuing "So what are you here to laugh at me about? The drugs or what Allura did to my body? Or is it the torture? I had the feeling they filmed it... Maybe... How I fucked up and nearly got Keith killed? There's few things that make Keith cry, and with how guilty he looks, it's not something small" Keith wanted to tell Lance to shut up. His tone hurt to hear, as did him exposing all his secrets to Shiro... He hadn't thought about the fact their sample data may still exist with the outpost being destroyed, but it made sense to him that the data would have been sent on before the scene of their crimes were erased. From how Kre'el opened a wormhole, their had to be a secondary location she'd had in mind. Pulling the vial from his pocket again, Shiro held it up for Lance to see "You told him?" There was that disappointment again... this time from Lance "Keith didn't tell me. When you refused pain medication, I examined the video from this room. For privacy I had the sound turned off, but for security I left the cameras on given the prisoners we have onboard from the ship and from the mining moon the ship crashed on" Lance let out a small "oh" as he nodded "So you know I'm a drug addict?" "Keith told me how it happened. That they drugged you during torture?" "Yep. Can't just quit the stuff because it'll shut down my body if I do" Keith shifted, he didn't want Lance to hate him. He knew Shiro was only being so hard because he cared, but... he didn't know what to do or say in this moment "Lance... I'm sorry this happened to you, but why didn't you tell any of us? We could have gotten you help sooner. This could have seriously complicated your surgery. We nearly lost you... we all nearly lost you" Crossing his arms, Lance huffed "Geez Shiro, why would any want to brag that they were addicted to drugs. That I needed them to get through the fucking day. Let me just casually drop that into a group call. Hey guys, guess what? I'm a fucking druggy who's fucked in the head. Even got that touch of brain damage to prove it. Yeah. Because it's that fucking easy when you were enjoying your lives without me. Also, I heard you. I heard you yelling at Keith. I think the whole fucking floor heard you yelling at him. If you've got a problem with me, then you talk to me. You don't sneak around stealing things from my ship, and you especially don't take it out on Keith when he has been trying his hardest to get me off them. I know you worry for him, but he's the same damn age as when you went missing off Pluto. I don't want you fighting or yelling because of some waste of space like I am" "Lance, that's not what I think at all..." "Babe, no. No, you're not a waste of space" Their words overlapped. Keith could understand Lance lashing out. A tiny bit maybe even pleased that his boyfriend had scolded Shiro for yelling at him "Lance, when I saw you on that ship, cradled in Coran's arms I realised how close we'd come to losing you. I couldn't pull Keith out the healing pod... and I didn't know what to do. I don't know what to do now. I'm honestly scared for you. Scared that this could lead to you dying. And I'm scared of Keith being dragged into a situation like he did in those foster homes. There's safer ways to come off of the drugs. I know you rely on Keith, but I'm worried about the strain it'll cause on both of you" "Shiro, I'm not a kid. Not anymore. I appreciate that you came at Keith's message, and I appreciate what you've done for both of us. But this, isn't your problem. That's why you're not listed as my next of kin and Keith is in charge of my medical decisions. You should forget you saw this. It's being handled" Shiro was trying. Keith knew he was trying. He still held that anger from being kept out of the loop on this, but he was trying in his own way to make Lance see that he wanted to be there for him. Raising his head, he swallowed hard at the expression on Lance's face. It was getting too much for him "I can't forget something like this Lance. And pushing it aside isn't going to help. I care about you. Please rely on me. Please let me help you. I want to help you" "I know! You weren't supposed to know! We were working on it... weren't we?" Red-rimmed eyes looked to Keith for comfort. A hand shyly moving to pat the space next to him. Forcing himself forward, Keith climbed up into the bed, Lance curling into him as he held him tightly, nuzzling into the soft curve of the Cuban's neck as pained scent poured from his love. Shaking, his emotions were bubbling up, the dam breaking as he cried softly "We were, baby. We are. You've done so good. I'm so sorry... I didn't want... I didn't want to tell another secret" "No... shhh, I understand. I'm sorry... I'm not strong enough to..." "You are strong. So strong..." Shifting Lance's legs up and between his, Keith positioned Lance so he was leaning against his chest. The angle better for Lance's lungs "I want to die... I'm so tired... of being disappointment" "When we get to Altean, we're going to get some help. I'm not going anywhere" "It's so busy in my head... I crave it so badly..." "I know" Because he did. Lance didn't need to spend vargas explaining himself. He got it. He wasn't oblivious to the physical pain... but Lance was working so hard at being clean of everything he could be clean of. Working so hard not to keep falling apart and to find a way to keep breathing... despite what he might think or how he might act "I thought you forget... no... no one came to... to talk to me" "You thought I forgot you need help? I thought it might be easier on New Altea. Away from here" "I don't want to leave with everything how it is" "I know" "I don't know how long I'll be the in pod... I hate them. I hate them so much... I don't want to wake up. I don't want to... miss more time" "Babe, I'm not going anywhere. We're accidental married remember. I can't let someone swoop in and whoo my husband out from under me" Lance gave him a wet laugh that sounded like music to Keith's ears "Never. Never... no one but you" They'd forgotten they had an audience. Both of them crying softly as they nuzzled, seeking comfort from the person they loved the most. "I... should be going then... Lance, I want to help you. So think about it, please. Anything I can do... I respect you. And I respect what you went through. I know Daehra doesn't like me, but your team... you've got a pretty amazing team. You're a good leader. I was wrong. It was wrong of me to think I understood things better than you did. Especially out in this area of space. The work you did here, it made a real difference. And you should be proud of that. I'm sorry for ambushing you over this. We nearly lost you and I didn't want to lose you to something like this... something that I could be there for..." Sniffling and hiccuping, Lance was the kindest soul he knew. Touches had been setting him off, as had certain smells, but reaching out his busted arm, he bit his lip at pain as he waved Shiro into a hug. Shiro hugging into Keith more than Lance, most probably out of respect. Sniffling as his eyes grew wet, Shiro was just as bad as the two of them "So, accidental husband's?" Lance let out a laugh "We... didn't know we were getting married at the time. There was this alien princess who stood had us stand in this gold ring and drink this horrible wine stuff..." Kissing Lance's cheek, Keith nodded "It was Daehra's little sister Annla. We got married on their planet before we came back for Hunk and Shay's engagement party. We're still working us out... but yeah, accidentally married the best guy in the universe" "You mean the only guy who could love your mullet" "It's not a mullet" "You could grow it down to your arse and it'll always be a mullet" "That's it. If I stay with the pair of you any longer, I'm going to catch your idiocy. Lance... please, even if it's Coran. Let him in?" "Coran... knows most of it... not... not all of it... but he knows most of it" What Coran did know, Keith didn't. They'd talked before Lance had developed the secondary infection and a little after, privately "That's a really good start. I'm sorry I came down so hard on both of you. You're both like brothers to me" "Thank you, Shiro. And can you keep the whole marriage thing a secret? Hunk would kill me. He already tried to kick me out when Lance was having a panic attack" Lance didn't respond. Shiro didn't seem to notice as he detached from the hug and passed over the two very melted milkshakes. Giving Keith's shoulder on last pat, his brother left them. When the door to his room closed, Lance let out a groan "Babe?" "I fucking hate this" "What?" "He apologised and I know I should feel better or some shit, but I don't know how to feel. I've been so fucking mad at him. He said it was for security but I feel like it was because I'm such a fuck up... I don't even know if he would have come and got me... and... Kre'el... why not transfer her? How's their investigation going? Have they been to Erathus? I feel like... like he can't trust me with any of it... I have... so many... I didn't want to burden you... I..." Lance's breathing was becoming uneven. Rubbing his back with his free hand, Keith sighed softly "No, babe. No. I don't know what Shiro is doing, or why he's running things like that, but there's so many things happening at the moment. I don't doubt he cares for you" "It's... hard to let anyone else in. I feel so weak" "I promise you, secret husband of mine, you're strong as hell" "I take it you're the one who let it slip?" "I'm sorry. Shiro... he brought up some feelings I haven't really dealt with properly. From my time in the system... you know, that disappointed tone that only parents can give" "I'm so sorry, babe. I heard him... and I didn't understand it all. How did he even get the vial?" "I don't know. He shouldn't have called us out like that. It's none of his business" "He's your brother. He's worried for you. Especially after what you went through in the system. God. I wish I could back in time and met you sooner. I wish I hadn't picked so many fights with you... I hate that you went through that" "I hate that you're still suffering" "You're suffering too. I don't like bringing all these memories back for you either. Do you maybe want to tell me?" No. Hell no. Lance was down on himself as it was. Hearing Keith's messed up childhood was the last thing he needed... So why wasn't that what came out? "Only if you want to listen" What. No. Lance didn't need to put up with him continuing to cry just because Shiro hit too close to home "Keith, I want to know everything about you... when you're ready. Not when Shiro has scared the quiznak out of you. I can smell your fear all over you. Don't push yourself" Keith let out a deep breath of relief, Lance smacking him playfully with his milkshake "It's not that I don't want to tell you" "You'll tell me when you're ready. Believe me, as the messed up one, I get it. Can we finish these then can you help me shower, Daehra won't let shower alone? It's not Shiro's fault but his scent is setting me off" "I... don't like his scent on you either. We could skip the milkshakes?" Lance shook his head, clipping Keith's chin as he did in his enthusiasm. Cringing back, Lance frowned at him "You promised bed and chocolate... and I might be trying to hard right now not to start crying because you're being too nice to me" "You most definitely deserve me being nice. I know you didn't tell Shiro yourself, but you didn't run away and that was brave" Rolling his eyes at him, Keith was glad to see the sass "Do you ever like... get sick of being so disturbingly nice?" "When it comes to you, not really" "You're killing me here. None of my lines are as smooth as you" Waiting until Lance had raised the straw of his milkshake, Keith let himself smirk internally. If his accidental husband wanted him smooth, he was getting smooth "Maybe when we get to Altea, I can take you on a date? We could watch the sunset, just you and me?" Lance choked hard on his milkshake, the cold liquid spilling into Keith's crotch. Flailing and trying to escape the freezing feeling against his junk, both their milkshakes went everywhere. Lance laughing as hard as he was coughing. Keith left standing by his boyfriend's bed with his sweat pants around his ankles. He'd been aiming for smooth, yet... this was so much nicer.

Bakugou X Reader.  Draft/Concept.
You want to be a hero but your husband doesnt want you do.
I want to keep working on this and make it longer but i dont have the time right now and wanted to get something out so here is this. Its not spellchecked OR ANYTHING. i will not apologize.
You sat on the sofa lazily, but your eyes darted to the front door every now and then as you patiently waited for your husband to get home. The child was in bed hours ago, dinner was just waiting to be reheated, and you had shaved your legs so everything was ready for a celebratory return. In just a few short weeks your little baby girl was starting preschool and you wouldn’t need to be there to care for her every minute of the day anymore. That and you and your husband had made a deal and it was his turn to hold up his end. You had both been working the same hero agency as sidekicks when you had graduated together from school. Adult life snuck up on you both fast. One day you Katsuki were making out in alley ways and the next you were saying your vows. And then Katsuki had asked you if he could become a father. You both wanted kids but Katsuki wanted them much sooner than you were prepared. You had hoped to become a professional hero and own your own agency with your husband and have a few sidekicks as well and then start a family. But the way Katsuki saw it the longer you waited the life would get in the way.
You had both made a deal. It was obvious you were suspended from hero work while you were pregnant, and then the baby had been born and she had been so very sick… she was always in the hospital, Katsuki used to stand in the bathroom with the hot water steaming up the air at 3 am to help her breath, your baby girl hadnt been easy. But that was behind you. Because the deal you made stated that Katsuki would continue his hero work (he had a better salary) while you stayed him and cared for the child. And you were happy too. You needed the rest. But now you were energetic and hungry for action. You had kept up with you training for the most part, and of course stayed in touch with your friends. You had called Yarayouzo and handt even needed to ask before she had you signed up as a side kick at her agency.
You were getting excited. Katsuki would be home any moment now, your husband was going to be so happy to have you at his side once again. You often spoke of your future dream to him and he would smile and agree. The lock on the door clicked and Katsuki Bakugou stopped through the door shedding layers of clothing as he made his way past you and to the kitchen.
“welcome home.” Katsuki nearly jumped out of his skin.
“fuck! ____ don’t scare me like that…” his hand was over his heart. “what are you doing up still?”
You grinned with excitement following as Katsuki moved through his routine and tossed his meal into the microwave to warm up. There was a hop in your walk and a big grin on your face, your hands clasped behind your back as you swayed comically. “ive got news.”
“good news I hope.” Katsuki was messing with the leather buckle on the remains of his bracers. It looked like it was coming loose. He cursed as his fiddling caused it to break. His eyes shot up. “your not pregnant again are you?”
“No! no. don’t worry about that.” Being pregnant woudlnt really help you right now. “____is starting school soon!”
Katsuki checked his still cold food. “In just overa month. I know.”
“Well, I was thinking- and I already talked to Momo about it and shes totally on board to don’t worry about that, and ive been going to the gym to that’s something im working on and-“
“stop. Youre rambling.”Bakugou gave up on warming the meal and took his luke warm dinner to the table. He was ravenous.
“oh sorry I just got excited… I just cant wait to get back into being a hero!” you smiled wide. Well you were going to be a side kick but it was a start. You waited for the joyous reply you expected from your husband. It dint come. He stared at you, his eye brows knitted together.
“what are you on about?” he frowned.
“well with ____ growing up so fast there is a lot more free time and we did make a deal… you got to be the hero first, then when the baby is big enough I get my turn.  Honestly, im hoping we could both stay in the field.” Katsuki was silent still, his mouth slightly open and his knee shaking. “it might be difficult if we are on different-“
“No.” he cut you off.
“what?” you looked on at him, taking a seat at the table as well. What did he mean by no? You husband continued to shovel food into his mouth, his eyes avoiding your confused stare.
“I said No. You cant be a hero.” He ran his tongue over his teeth, cleaning them off before taking another bite. “Your more use to this family as a mother.”
Something in your brain snapped, all the joy and happiness you had been feeling felt like it fell out of your ass in one painful bullshit reality check. Bakugou didn’t wait for you to reply as he continued his explination. “Its not really a good time for me either. Im almost at the top ten, I don’t need to be worried about taking care of a child added on top of it.” The asshole took your hand in his. “I need you here, doing all the home stuff so that I can become number one. Besides- “ he released your hand and took another bite of food ”-I thought you liked being a housewife.”
You shoved yourself up from the table. Your husbands face looking honestly a little confused at your rage. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
“I’m not saying ever. Maybe when ____ is in middle school.” He seemed satisfied with that.
You grabbed the remains of his dinner, his hands raised in surprise as you tossed it in the garbage. “I put my dreams on hold for you…” the rage was too much and was bubbling out of you in tears.
“And I love you because of it… I couldn’t have done it without you-“
“its always about you isn’t it!” you finally scream. “The great Katsuki Bakugou! And his dutiful wife… I cook, I clean, I had your child. I sit and I wait at home for you to come home every night. That is my life!”
“Do you regret having our child?” he spat. You walked straight over to him and slapped him in the face.
“you’re a fucking asshole.” You turned and made your way up the stairs to get ready for bed. You didn’t want to get into a big fight with him about this. Fights never got either of you anywhere, you were both hardheaded and aggressive. Fuck you did feel guilty for slapping him, he would never lift a hand to you no matter how angry… You were trying to make your body move and go apologize to him but you just couldn’t. you got ready for bed and lay under the covers hoping for sleep before Katsuki joined you.
But it didn’t take long for the male to enter the bedroom. He took his time in the shower before he slipped under the covers. The lights were turned off and you felt his warm body press against your back. His soft hands ran over your arm and clenched your waist. “im sorry for how that went down…”
“im sorry for slapping you… “ you whispered.
“you understand where im coming from though?”
You were silent as Katsuki waited for an answer but got nothing. “Im going to do it Katsuki. I don’t need your permission.”
“Will you take a blessing?” He layed back down on to his back, crossing his arms over his chest. “I believe in you. You will be a great hero.”

This is a homebrew adventure full of inprov scenes and random fun so the plot has changed over time as new ideas come and new characters are added. These are two versions of it, one that I made originally just to detail a series of events that corresponded to the characters’ background stories and another that I turned into a homebrew campaign where my characters are NPCs offering clues, quests and items and the main adventures falls to a group of unnamed adventurers. The geography of the land also changed a bit with each draft until I decided to keep everything in the same general area. If you want to play my homebrew when I DM it without spoilers, this is your chance to stop reading.
Homebrew Timeline Many years ago, a group of good Dragonborn monks sealed an evil dragon underground in a secluded island. One of them volunteered to stay behind frozen in time, only to awaken if he needed to defend the seal from intruders. Starlight Kingdom was located in a small island, secluded from the rest of the world. The vast majority of the population and the royal family were humans, but there were also a few elves and half-elves. An elf was chosen at birth to serve as the caretaker of the magical archives and tasked with dedicating her life to studying magic. The shrine maiden died of old age and a new elven shrine maiden was selected, Azure. Though she had no claim to the throne, she was given the family name of the royals, Starlight, to show their connection to the kingdom’s magic. The evil elven sorcerer Blanc Noir reached Starlight island and casted a spell to make the island invisible. This caused ships to become disoriented and travel to be almost non-existent. Blanc Noir and the human wizard Cerise, had twin boys. Blanc choose one as his heir and partner in crime and abandoned the other, deeming him to have insufficient magical potential. The captain of the royal guard, sir Larry Lavender found a half-elf baby abandoned in the forest and adopted him as his son, Lore Lavender. Blanc Noir kidnapped young prince Crimson Starlight IV. Tabaxi adventurer Lilac and her young daughter, Cyna, accidentally ran their boat into the shores of Starlight Island. The citizens of Starlight were suspicious of Lilac. To earn their trust, and because this was in her line of work, Lilac left her daughter in town and set out to help rescue the young prince. Lilac and Larry, teamed up with a few others and rescued prince Crimson. However, Lilac was mortally wounded protecting the prince. With her dying breath, she asked that her daughter be taken care of. In gratitude for the safe return of his only son, King Crimson Starlight III adopted Cyna as his daughter. Azure Starlight became tired of her life of studies and isolation. Princess Cyna, who missed the life of adventure of her childhood, helped Azure escape from the archives and leave the island. Azure arrived in a neighboring continent and started looking for work as an adventurer. She teamed up with another adventurer called Genesis and continued to travel with him ever since. The Tenshi Knights met the genasi seer, Rose Pyro, who told them of an island that disappeared years ago. She sensed that a great evil was on the island, but was unable to perceive any further details. She gave them precise directions to reach the island that they would not see until they set foot on its shores. Tenshi Knight Turquoise and his daughter, Indigo, who were in training, teamed up with Larry, Lore and a few others to defeat Blanc Noir. Blanc knew he couldn’t win, so he retreated in a weakened state. The Tenshi Knights left Starlight Island, which was visible and ready to reconnect with the rest of the world. After that mission, Indigo became an official Tenshi Knight and began her own journey, able to take on missions on her own. The human wizard Cerise, poisoned Sapphire lake, to exterminate the triton living in it and take over the magical artifacts they collected. Most of them survived, but had a slow recovery, unable to stop Cerise from taking their treasures. Aquamarine was away from Sapphire Lake during Cerise’s attack. When she returned from her trip she was shocked to find out about the attack. Cerise stole her family’s treasured Bowl of Commanding Water Elemental, which Aquamarine was determined to get back. At Starlight, Blanc’s son, Void Noir, pretended to be Lore while the real Lore was off on a trip, but Larry realized that wasn’t his son. Before Larry could inquire further, Void managed to kill him, but not without a witness. Lore returned home to find his father at the verge of death with the look alike murderer before him. Lore tried to stop him, but Void escaped. Void’s existence was a secret, so everyone thought Lore was guilty, since he was the only one anyone thought they saw going in and out of his father’s house. Declared a traitor and murderer, Lore realized that Void had fled the island and went on a quest to find him, traveling under the alias of Mythos. Princess Cyna believed in Lore’s innocence and after the king declared him a wanted criminal, she had enough of the life she was never truly comfortable with. Cyna left Starlight, but she occasionally wrote to her brother, who had also disagreed with his father’s decision against Lore. The king contacted the Tenshi Knights and Indigo took on the mission of investigating Lore’s whereabouts. Blanc Noir began to take over the Emerald Forest, trying to make it his next base of operations, like Starlight Island had been in the past. Cyna wrote to Crimson about a delicious dessert made with fruits from the Emerald Forest, which got him curious about it. The people of a small human town called Lost Edge, located just outside of Emerald Forest, said the centaur came out to trade for weapons, which was very unusual, but it gave them access to fruits of the forest. After Starlight was freed, they became traders, being an ideal point in the middle of a long stretch of ocean for ships to stop. Due to the increasing maritime commerce, many exotic products could be found at the Starlight markets. Prince Crimson left Starlight Island on a diplomatic mission to establish a trading contract with the rulers of the Emerald Forest. The centaur of the Emerald Forest were very territorial and didn't like establishing trade, but Crimson was adamant in taking any opportunity that could be good for the Starlight Kingdom. The prince ignored the warnings from the people of Lost Edge about getting lost in the forest. He became separated from his guards and though the guards managed to make it back to town in a disoriented state, thanks to some help from a mysterious centaur, the prince was missing. King Crimson fell ill during his son’s absence and the nobles began to fight over who would inherit the throne. Word reached Cyna about her brother’s disappearance and the king’s condition, so she began to search for the prince. During her travels, she found Azure and asked her to temporarily return to Starlight and reclaim her position as shrine maiden to help stabilize the kingdom. Cyna revealed that she took responsibility for Azure’s departure and to save face, the royal family had kept it a secret. The nobles thought the shrine maiden had retreated deep into the magic archives to study for the benefit of the kingdom. Indigo found Mythos and sensed no evil in him, thus promised to help find the mysterious evil twin. They met up with Cyna and learned about the missing prince. Indigo, Mythos and Cyna ventured into the forest and become disoriented. They were attacked by dangerous plant monsters, until they were found and guided out by a centaur called Vermilion, who had also helped the guards before. Vermilion explained that his people didn’t usually accept help from outsiders and generally kept to themselves, but were up against an enemy of great magical power, the elven sorcerer Blanc Noir and human wizard Cerise. While Cyna, Indigo, Mythos and Vermilion prepared to venture back into the forest, a strange light overtook the forest. Upon investigating, they found runes had been carved into the trees surrounding the outer forest, encircling the center. They discovered Cerise casting a strange spell on the forest. Indigo, Cyna, Mythos and Vermilion teamed up to defeat Cerise. After she was defeated, her magic dissipated from the Emerald Forest, but it was too late. Upon examining the forest, they found several of its deceased inhabitants, reanimated as undead monsters. After getting past the undead and making their way to the center of the forest, they found some suspicious magic scrolls that were not able to decipher, but no signs of the prince. The surviving centaurs rebuilt their village and Vermilion decided to continue traveling with the group until Blanc was defeated. Cyna suggested going to Starlight to ask Azure if she could get any clues from the scrolls. Blanc was clearly gone and was unlikely to return, since he had clearly gotten what he wanted from the Emerald Forest. Aquamarine arrived at Starlight Island, following rumors that a man on a ship had used what could be her heirloom. She hoped to collect information, since so many ships stopped there and rumors from across the globe reached the island. A nobleman was drowned by a water elemental. While Azure investigated the happenings, she met Aquamarine and learned her story. Rose Pyro arrived at Starlight requesting an audience with the shrine maiden in the name of the Tenshi Knights. Though she was not a Tenshi Knight, she knew the name of the Tenshi would be the fastest way to get an audience. She had finally been able to decipher the prophecy that took the Tenshi to Starlight long ago. A dragon was slumbering sealed beneath Starlight Island, waiting to wake up and devour the kingdom. Azure, Aquamarine and Rose went to Blanc’s old hideout and found a secret passage thanks to Rose’s predictions. Underground they found a frozen Dragonborn encased in an icy crystal. The ice melted away and the Dragonborn attacked. After fighting him, he began to regain his senses and Rose realized he was trying to prevent the evil dragon from being woken up. They assured him that was not their intention and advised by Rose, laid down their weapons. Upon investigating the caverns further, the Dragonborn, Silver, realized that someone had already gone past him without waking him thus if the dragon still slept, it was left that way on purpose. Silver couldn’t explain how someone got past him, but knew it was no one in present company, since they were unable to get by without detection this time. They wondered why the dragon wasn’t awake if Blanc Noir possibly made it through before. The water elemental attacked and began to flood the caverns. Azure, Aquamarine, Rose and Silver tried to locate the source. Aquamarine went underwater to attack Void, and try to make him lose control over the elemental. Silver, Azure and Rose took the chance to catch up and attack Void, who retreated and got away. Aquamarine had recovered her heirloom but decided to stay and help her new friends. After Void was gone, the group continued to explore the caverns and found many previously magical artifacts drained of their power next to the dragon. The cave floor was filled with strange runes and a dome of energy surrounded the large red dragon in the center. When the group tried to approach they were teleported unto a trap. They discovered some runes that could focus energy and used them to have Azure receive energy from Rose, Silver and Aquamarine, for a teleportation spell strong enough to escape. That explained the drained artifacts and how Blanc got past Silver. Azure mentions she might not have figured it out without the knowledge of the outside world. Cyna, Indigo, Mythos and Vermilion returned to Starlight. Mythos, who was reluctant to return, went into hiding while Cyna and Indigo sorted things out. Cyna, Indigo and Vermilion met up with Azure, Aquamarine, Rose and Silver. Azure was able to interpret the scrolls and found that the magical energy from the artifacts the centaur kept was drained out of them and absorbed into something or someone else. Cyna told the king they found Crimson and he stayed behind doing business protected by the Tenshi. In a separate audience, Indigo told the king that she believed in Lore’s innocence and they were working on finding the real culprit. The king passed away that night and Cyna announced to the nobles that Crimson was on his way home. Mythos tracked down Void and challenged him. The battle caught the attention of Tenshi Turquoise, who had recently arrived at Starlight and chosen to keep his presence a secret. Though he just barely made it, Mythos managed to defeat Void and Turquoise captured him. Void was taken captive and interrogated. They found out that Blanc was already somewhere on the island and he had prince Crimson captive. They also learned the truth about Lore’s origin and his parents, Blanc and Cerise, but kept it a secret from the rest of the kingdom. Silver returned to guard the red dragon. Rose said she was unable to see the future, as her predictions came at random. Void escaped from prison and used his necromancy that he claimed to have learned from Cerise, to raise a zombie army, but overdid it and his life was consumed by the intensity of the spell. The royal guards scattered overwhelmed by the zombies, but Turquoise, got them organized to protect the kingdom. A mysterious masked bard joined the fight on the side of the zombies. Indigo, Mythos, Vermilion and Rose went to check on Silver and he met them half way. The Dragonborn had left the cave to announce that the red dragon within the energy dome disappeared and he had a bad feeling about it. Azure, Cyna, Aquamarine encountered the mysterious bard and fought him. Cyna recognized him as Crimson and the rest of the group met up with them. After tiring him out, they were finally able to destroy the mask used to amplify his power and control him. Crimson was saved, plus Turquoise and the royal guards were getting the zombies under control, but they still didn’t understand what happened with the dragon. Blanc Noir finally revealed himself. It was Blanc’s plan all along was to fuse with the dragon to obtain his power, a process that was very slow and required a lot of magical energy to accomplish it and survive. While Turquoise and Crimson protected the Starlight Kingdom alongside the royal guards, Cyna, Mythos, Indigo, Azure, Silver, Rose, Vermilion and Aquamarine faced the final battle against Blanc Noir.
