Reader who deflects compliments
Kuroo, Suna, Kunimi, Himekawa & Bokuto x gn!reader
Tags/Warnings: Fluff (this whole thing is very soft ngl), a bit of angst, established relationship in the first 3 parts, kinda insecure reader, halfway proofread lol
A/N: Not me prematurely posting another fic😩This is my first time ever doing a headcanon list with multiple characters, so forgive me for this one being pretty rusty and excessively lengthy. Take a shot everytime you see the words "compliment", "praise", and "comment" lol

Kuroo
Tetsuro took every chance he could to throw compliments your way, not necessarily because you're his s/o, but complimenting you is something he finds joy in (your reactions are something he lives for). And since he loves doing it, it didn't take him very long to notice what kind of compliments you have trouble accepting, particularly ones that praise any effort you've put into something. If he commented on your hair, you'd deflect by saying you didn't do much to warrant a comment. If he said he loved how you decorated the room, you'd respond by saying you could've done more. If he even says you did a good job cleaning the dishes, you'll just say you wish you didn't take so long.
He tried to chalk it up to you simply not being used to compliments pertaining to your hard work, but couldn't keep doing so after a while of you repeatedly doubting yourself.
Things came to a head when he watched you work tirelessly on an art project for 2 weeks. It was a big project, one that he's had to pull you away from on numerous occasions so you'd take a break; he knew how much effort you were putting into it not just for a good grade, but for your personal expectations as well. When he commented positively on the art project as its due date nears, he wasn't the least bit surprised when you turned to him apprehensively.
"Um," your eyes flickered back and forth between him and the artwork as you fiddled with your fingers, "are you sure? Not that I don't believe you, but I'm not finished with it, so-"
"[Y/N], it really looks good. If anything, it looks like you're pretty much finished with it."
"...But I feel like this part-"
"I'm serious." He cut you off with a pinch to your side to rid you of any tension, then said with an easy smile, "You only have so much time to work on it more anyways."
You didn't look entirely convinced, but you went along and said, "Yeah, I guess."
He finally decided to speak up as he sat beside you, "Why do you do that anyways?"
"Hm?" You looked back to see him fixating you with a small frown, then asked somewhat cautiously to avoid upsetting him, "Do what?"
"Deflect."
"...I dunno." You broke eye contact to stare at your creation and conjure an answer he'd be satisfied with, "I guess I just feel like I need to earn it or something..."
"You don't feel like you deserve a positive critique? That pains me y'know, here I am wanting to inflate your ego and yet here you are doubting your own boyfriend-"
You forced yourself to stifle a smile at his dramatic flair, "I'm sorry, but-"
"Do you really believe you have to work for any praise from me?"
"No, I mean, yes, well-"
"Don't hurt yourself."
"Shut up!" You managed to get out with the laugh he pulled from you. "It's just...weird to explain, and hard to understand."
"Try me~"
Internally thankful for him diminishing any unease you had left in you, you clasped your hands together as you began, "It's honestly not that big of a deal, I'm just so used to putting in the work to hear feedback or get a clap on the shoulder. So when I don't do as much as I would or as efficiently as I'd hope, it's unfamiliar territory hearing someone praise me regardless."
"So," he spoke from his reclined position, "you're basically not used to receiving compliments you haven't worked for?"
"I guess?" You awkwardly toyed with your fingers and added with an airy laugh as you looked back to Tetsuro, "That makes it seem like I can't handle being called attractive."
He adjusted his posture so he could lean towards you to pull your chair closer, then proceeding to lean his head on your shoulder. Wearing a contemplative but committed smile, he concluded, "Guess I'll have to flatter you so much that you're used to it."
You playfully pushed at him until he wrapped his mile long arms around your torso. You give up by that point and say "Isn't it bad to flatter? You don't want me to get used to it anyways, I might develop an ego."
He burrowed his permanent bedhead into your neck and countered, "There's nothing wrong with a bit of confidence."
"Mhm, famous last words."
He chuckled before he tightened his hold around you and looked up to meet your eyes, "I'm serious. I'll make sure you can't find it in yourself to doubt...yourself. That came out weird, but you understand, I'd rather you feel like you achieved something instead of getting frustrated with trying to meet expectations. Just do as much as you want without worrying whether or not someone will judge your efforts, your evaluation of your work always comes first and matters the most. And if you really feel like you wanted to do more, then work on it. But do it for yourself."
You wanted to say something in response to his insightful monologue, but he genuinely left you speechless. It's been a long time since someone made you feel like they weren't telling you 'it's okay for you to not do your best', 'you're only human', or 'it's not that serious', only for you to feel like you were underperforming or doing the bare minimum. Perhaps it was Tetsuro's sincerity that made his words stick in your brain much stronger than anyone else's, because you know he'd never sugar coat his words to make you feel better. He's the bona fide embodiment of honesty.
He seemed satisfied irregardless of your lack of response, "And remember that."
"...Tetsu?"
"Hm?"
"Thank you."
"No problem." His face changed in little to no time after saying that. "Actually..." he trailed off mischievously.
"Wha--pfft!" You desperately tried and failed to push his hands away from you.
"You owe me the rest of the night now that you're finished with your project."
"I--hehehe--I'm not done-"
"It looks pretty done to me babe!"
As jubilant giggles bubbled from your chest due to his wandering fingers tickling your sides, you felt yourself believing that you'd eventually drop your bad habit with his help. You wanted to get better at taking his (and everyone else's) compliments, and he wanted you to feel good about receiving them, so there's no reason for your combined endeavors to not pay off.
It unquestionably took some time for you to get into a different mindset concerning your work ethic, but you eventually found yourself doubting your efforts less and less, not giving in to your past habit of comparing them to his compliments. It's gotten to a point where you'd confidently say you're enough to deserve his praise and affection without having to prove yourself in some way.
And Tetsuro can say with certainty he'd never grow tired of reminding you of that singular fact every moment he could.
Suna
Rintarou could only feel an odd sense of nostalgia, amusement, and the slightest bit of irritation after you made a degrading comment about your academic prowess. He invaded your study session and playfully complained about you ignoring him for your studies, which led to you saying something along the lines of, "Well I wouldn't have to study so much if I wasn't so dumb lol." That in turn prompted him to throw you on your bed and call you a polymath, something you had to look up the definition for since he wouldn't tell you.
"I'm not a polymath, that sounds so extra."
"It's a perfect description! 'A person of wide-ranging knowledge and learning' describes you to a T."
"You only picked that word because I'm cramming."
"Not gonna lie, I kinda did. But it's not extra."
"I'm not that smart-"
"Are you calling me a liar?" The question was a serious one, but the tone he used to ask it was anything but.
Your befuddled brain had trouble comprehending that however and sent you into a flurry of words (if they can be called that), "N-No but-"
"Then take the compliment, you're a genius who's cramming like crazy for a test they want to do well on." He said while delivering a heartfelt thump to your forehead with a straight face.
You waved his hand away to rub at your forehead and retort, "Geniuses don't cram. And 'polymath'? Of all words?"
A smile finally broke through, irrespective of your usual difficulty accepting his words as the truth, and he said, "No need to be modest~"
You stubbornly remained silent as you went back to your phone.
Anyone who didn't know you well would easily pass off your reaction to compliments as excessive modesty with how good you are at discreetly rebuffing their words of praise. It's a good thing Rintarou knows you well enough to understand that your 'excessive modesty' is more so you not knowing how to accept praise without seeing the downside to their words. In fact, your self-deprecating nature only truly comes out when you're alone with him, something you'd offhandedly disclosed when you assumed he wasn't listening. Not that it needed to be verbalized, he came to the conclusion on his own after some time, long before dropping the 'best friend' label between you two.
He'd normally grow frustrated from repeatedly dealing with someone else's internal issues or bad habits; having known you for so long though, he could never muster the energy to stay mad at you or blow up in your face. Especially since, as you said, you can't quite help the pavlovian responses after using them for years.
You've thankfully gotten better at not contradicting any approbation that comes your way, only stumbling on occasion when a simple 'thank you' isn't at the forefront of your mind. And though you refrain from making it a constant occurence, you show in your own ways your gratefulness for Rin's help getting you to this point. Some may think his practical nature clashes with the need for reassurance or stability, but you think that down-to-earth approach is needed.
That aforementioned gratefulness is currently being demonstrated, in your opinion, by allowing him to interrupt your study time for a cuddling session (he argued he was doing you a favor).
"What're you thinking about?" Rintarou mumbled from his place on your torso.
You put your phone down to acknowledge him, "How much you have to deal with me when-"
"I don't deal with you, I love you." His head shot up as he said that with a stern look.
"-when I get in my moods."
He laid his head back down, "Well you're doing better now, yeah?"
"Yeah, I am," you said sincerely. A blanket of serene silence settled as you ran your fingers through his hair, only to be lifted when you asked lowly, "You really think I'll do a good job on that test?"
"You're a literal brainiac, you'll be fine."
"That doesn't guarantee anything, math isn't my strong point."
He looked back up, "I think the fact that you've been locked up in your dorm room surrounded by any and all studying material and hardly replied to my texts until I broke in says you're going to pass."
Though said in jest, you feel sentimentality settle in your heart after his elongated response as you say, "Wow, you must really love me, huh?"
"You have no idea."
Some part of you takes that to heart, knowing that he truly does love you more than you could hope to comprehend. Considering how swift he is in tackling your deep-rooted insecurities and uplifting your self-esteem, you'd say his everlasting support is a testament to how fathomless his love is.
Love won't get you a passing grade on your math exam though. One look at the time had you pushing at his shoulders and saying, "Rin, get up, it's been 30 minutes."
He squeezed tighter and burrowed his face in your stomach, "You said an hour-"
"You said an hour, and I didn't agree to that-"
Kunimi
Akira is well aware of what backhanded compliments are, all too often being on the receiving end of them himself, and sometimes dishing similar comments out to others who rub him the wrong way. So when he sees you've changed your hairstyle and pulled on a jacket before the day was remotely halfway over with, he knew it probably had to do with what your classmate said earlier. She attempted to pass her comments off as genuine praise, but you and Akira were never fond of how she liked using insults disguised as compliments to get under everyone's skin. Her saying, "You should wear ponytails more often," seemed innocent enough until she tacked on, "you wear your hair down too much if you ask me." And as for the shirt, "What made you decide to dress up today?"
That one is self-explanatory.
Akira is now left sitting on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through his phone and wondering how to approach you about what happened. Although he makes it a point to not force you into speaking your heart out, you do tend to keep mishaps to yourself (in your own words, "I don't like dumping my issues on you.") Of course he had an in-depth conversation with you about doing that, going so far to say he wouldn't mind even if you talked his ears off, something he knows isn't likely considering how little you actually speak for long periods of time. But during the few moments where you did, you mentioned once, and only once, how you had trouble taking compliments seriously because you'd oftentimes hear backhanded ones from your own family.
That gave him context as to why you used to fixate him with certain looks whenever he said something nice about you, and he never made a huge deal out of your reactions. He understood where you were coming from because you opened up and spoke to him, in spite of your previous fears of him dismissing you due to the mien of indifference he exudes around others.
Right now however, you're doing the opposite, and he's quite frankly confused.
He lazily pulled himself off the couch and travelled to the kitchen to say something (he's not sure what to say to be perfectly honest). He watched you for a bit as you flipped grilled cheese sandwiches in a pan before he stated nonchalantly, "You changed your shirt."
"I just wanted to change into something more comfortable." You answered effortlessly without looking away from the task at hand.
Good excuse. He'd call you out on it, but the fact that you're giving an excuse in the first place tells him he should proceed with caution. He leaned on the counter, listening to the sizzle of butter against the surface of the pan, and contemplates his next move. He feels pretty enervated right now, he probably doesn't have to bring up the university girl, you two could just relax for the rest of the day. Lie in bed with the grilled cheese sandwiches and watch a corny movie to poke fun at, and maybe finally have a talk later on or tomorrow, whenever you seem more open to the possibility-
That's just more trouble, he thought to himself. The statement sounds a bit mean in his head, but he knows he wouldn't be able to completely unwind with you if his mind is stuck on this. More important than that however is you being avoidant of the topic, worrying him more than he'd like to admit.
With a soft inhale, he starts-
"It's something how someone I don't care for, let alone hardly know, can affect me like that," you randomly say as you remove the sandwiches from the pan once they've reached an optimal crispness.
-only to let out a breath when you speak first.
You glanced back when you add, "I figured I might as well say something since I could feel you psyching yourself up."
He pursed his lips and returned with, "I wasn't 'psyching myself up'. Just thinking if I needed to start or if you wanted to." It's not until after hearing what you said when he realizes another thing that bothered you, probably more than the comments themself: the idea of someone who's not close to you managing to hit you where it hurts definitely isn't one that's easy to come to grips with.
"It's nothing any different from the usual, just me paying too much attention to the negatives." You finally turn the stove off and turn to look at him with a tentative expression, "I know what's her face was being kind of sarcastic, but another girl came up to me later and said my ponytail was cute. I could tell she was being legit, so that made me feel a little better I guess."
"It was cute." Akira said honestly.
Your heart fluttered from the comment and spread a sensation of fuzziness throughout you. The fuzziness, however, waged war with the dubiety that was bound to arise after today's events. "You think so?"
He grabbed your hand to pull you closer and say, "I know so."
"Even though I rarely wear it?"
"You know it doesn't bother me how much you wear your hair down. You're the one with the cold ears."
A small laugh rumbled out of you, but you still found yourself asking, "What about the shirt?"
The smirk he suddenly donned warned you of his incoming tease when he answered, "It's nice and all, but you should really start wearing mine more-"
"I'm wearing one of your shirts right now you overgrown sloth."
"I meant out and about, like to uni-"
"Aki!" You protested, but knew you truly had no real difficulty going along with his request, it's mostly a matter of privacy.
"Really though," he pulled you in for a hug, "however you dress should be up to you. Some blonde background character in the back of class definitely doesn't have the authority to judge you, got it?"
"'Blonde background character'..."
"Neither of us remember her name, admit it."
You silently pulled away to grab your plate of grilled cheese sandwiches before saying, "Let's eat these before they get cold."
He light-heartedly rolled his eyes but followed you to the bedroom as he said, "You should wear your ponytail tomorrow just to piss her off."
"Shut up." You laughed him off but didn't feel all that opposed to the idea.
Himekawa
Aoi would be lying if he told himself he didn't develop some kind of interest for you when you took up the managerial position of the team; he is lying by pushing aside the fact that his interest actually started from your time together in class. He invariably observes you any time you're in the same vicinity as him, feeling revitalized from the sound of your voice reverberating around the gym, while managing to turn his head away at the speed of sound when you nearly catch his eyes on you. His fellow teammates are all too aware of the effect you have on the freshly turned 2nd year, especially the former 3rd years who visit on occasion, but it's not as though he's been fervently hiding his growing adoration for you. He oft gets called out whenever he seems to be waiting for you to come back from one of your duties, somehow being the one to walk you home when the rest of the team trickles down throughout the endeavor, and when he's bringing you up in conversation much more than intended.
To make a long story short, his year and a half of knowing you gave him ample time to espy a perplexing mannerism of yours that only makes itself known when you hear any laudation about yourself. It's nothing remarkably alarming, but you tend to boomerang compliments. You're not necessarily unaccepting of the compliment as far as he can see, but you aren't directly accepting it either.
Normally, he wouldn't pry about things unless they needed to be pried about; you don't appear to be outwardly denying any of your positives at least. But the earnestness that lights your eyes up tends to flicker when you receive praise, and he feels that in of itself warranted him confronting you about the topic. Which brings his attention back to right now, where he's currently walking you home without the habitual bustle of the team to accompany the stillness of night. After internally giving himself a pep talk, he decided the best time to strike up a discussion was now. He waited for you to finish your recount of today's practice match to look ahead and speak, "Hey, I've been wondering about something."
"Hm?" You purely responded, none the wiser about what he planned to ask, yet acutely aware of his fidgety state when you glanced at him in acknowledgement.
The curly haired male stumbled his way through his question as he picked at his bag strap, "Um...why do you always...throw compliments back at someone when they give you one?" He quickly added with a frenzied wave of his free hand, "N-Not that you have to tell me, it's just, you kind of look like you aren't comfortable, and you never really acknowledge-"
"It's fine, Aoi," you stopped his rambling with a verbal reassurance and leisurely smile. "I didn't think anyone would figure there was something wrong so long as I responded in kind with my own comment."
He didn't think there was something intrinsically wrong with what you were doing, but you went on to answer his question anyway. "I just don't want to come off as hubristic or arrogant, y'know?"
That makes sense. "But I don't think anyone would see you as such if you simply thank them. You're really modest and generally nice to everyone on the team."
"You'd be surprised," you said lowly, promptly taking on a despondent demeanor and looking away from him.
"Ah." Though your answer was short, it held quite a lot of weight and helped him paint a more comprehensive picture of why you react the way you do to praise.
His brief response gave you a certain impression and elicited you to say, "Sorry I'm being such a downer right now."
He stopped walking and lightly grabbed your arm to evoke you into doing the same, "You're not being a downer."
His small action coupled with the equanimous tone he used pulled your gaze back to his resolute expression. He continued, "I don't know about anyone else, but the team and I never compliment you thinking that it'd inflate your ego, we just genuinely appreciate how much you do for us and we want you to know that."
His words of encouragement lifted your spirits, but one small concern still plagued your mind, "I think the problem is that I don't know what exactly to say in response. I feel like 'thank you' isn't enough, but saying anything more might seem pretentious. And then I kind of get stuck trying to choose one or the other, but I end up saying something back instead. It's easier than saying nothing."
He gave a hum of rumination and started back walking as he said, "I think saying 'thank you' is more effective than you think."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah," he said confidently. "If it really bothers you that you can't think of a follow up, I'm sure most people would understand if that's all you can say."
You then asked fretfully as you're not quite convinced, "What if they expect me to say something back?"
"Then formulate a compliment when you're ready to give them one." He's surprising himself with how smoothly he's generating these answers. Perhaps it's the switched roles of him being the one who knows what he wants to say for once, or the subject matter pertaining to a personal matter of yours. Either way, he seemed to help you deduced from your outlook appearing more enthusiastic and satisfied.
"Okay," you said at the sight of your house just a few feet away. "I guess this is it for now."
"Yeah..." He really didn't want to go, but like you said, it's only temporary. Had he taken his line of sight away from the streetlamp on the side, he would've noticed your shared hesitance to end the conversation. Though he supposes he probably felt it in the unanticipated hug you pulled him into, feeling himself go red in the face from your affectionate side that all too often makes itself known around him.
He hovered an arm over your shoulders, not quite sure if he should reciprocate, this hug somehow feels more intimate than the quick ones you give him back at school.
"Thank you." You spoke faintly into his team jacket.
"Oh, uh, no problem! I mean, I really didn't do much-"
"You did, more than you think," you finished with a brief tightening of you arms before letting go.
He lost his chance to hug you back, but the beaming smile you sent his way when you pulled back somehow made him forget about his second long disappointment. Your infectious exuberance made a smile of his own grow on his face as he waved and said, "See you tomorrow!"
"You too!" You yelled as you walked backwards and waved back.
As he turned around to find his way back to his own home, he thought back to the small exchange just now and realized you already got off to a good start with accepting compliments by thanking him so simply.
He also realized he likes hearing your wholehearted "thank you"s more than your rushed and forced returns of praise.
Bokuto
"You don't have to say that, Kou."
The partially grey haired boy tilted his head much like an owl at your statement from his seat across from you, subconsciously slackening his hold on his pencil at you once again shooting his compliment down like a fighter jet. "What do you mean 'I don't have to say it', it's true."
You seemed conflicted but still smiled as you ignored your homework on the table in front of you to elaborate, "I'm saying that you don't have to say all these things to make me feel better or-"
"And like I said, I say these things because they're true!" If his tone wasn't an indicator of his growing exasperation, his puffed out cheeks certainly were. It's no secret he has a huge crush on you, well, it's no secret to everyone except you. It's not as though he's tried to hide his fondness of you however, he takes any opportunity he can to hang around you and and his heart jumps for joy when you give him the time of day. The only bad thing he has to admit to himself is how you can't seem to take him seriously, at least not in the way he wants you to.
"You're just being nice!"
"Gah!" The young man looked as though you'd just ripped his soul out with those four words. He dramatically dropped his head to the table and mumbled in a melancholic tone, "It's just like Akaashi said..."
"W-What did he say?" Nothing bad I hope.
"He said you've probably been ignoring my compliments because you think I'm being nice." Though his face is hidden, you can imagine he bears a strong resemblance to a puppy who just lost their favorite toy. He fervidly tried to ignore his friend's words, no matter how true they seem to ring at the time. Akaashi even went on to explain why he thought that was the case, every single one of his points ranging from you laughing Koutarou off to you occasionally saying he's exaggerating, all of which just served to set off alarms in Koutarou's head. That's actually what led him to run for the hills and find you to have a spontaneous study session in the library (disguised as an interrogation of the sorts).
"Oh. Is that...not the case?" Now you feel quite dumb for making assumptions.
Hearing your tone change, Koutarou lifted his head just enough to see the questioning face you give him, and decided to take the reigns of this conversation by saying, "Depends. Why do you think I'm just being nice to you?"
You cringed at the whole you dug for yourself, knowing he wasn't going to let this slide, and diffidently answered, "Well, y'know...it's you-"
He sat upright in a flash, "Is there something wrong with me!?"
"No, no," you shushed him as a reminder of the location you're currently in, "there's nothing wrong with you at all."
"Oh, okay."
You saw a imaginary glow of pride appear around him after you said that and internally laughed, but you had to pull yourself out of the sweet moment to clarify, "You're a really positive guy, so much so that...I have to wonder how much of what you say is genuine or out of courtesy."
The glow died down, "Oh." Only to return in a different form when he perked up determinedly, "But I wouldn't lie to you about something I compliment you over, really."
"But you compliment me about everything!" You inwardly flinched at your loss of control over your volume, but continued, "Kou, it's fine and all to compliment me, but you even have something nice to say about my flaws. It's one thing if it's debatable whether or not it's really a flaw, but me accidentally wearing mismatched socks to school isn't something you compliment."
"But they were cute-"
"See? You're doing it again," you pointed strongly.
"But I can't help it when-" I like you! He nearly finished his sentence but closed his mouth before he said something he wasn't quite ready to put out there.
"When what?" You're seriously wondering what he's trying to say and why he stopped himself from saying it.
"...When I care for you." He spoke a bit embarrassedly as he pouted to the side, something that noticeably caught you off guard. "I only compliment you so much because you deserve it. Like when you fixed your hair up, or when you submitted that artwork for the club application-"
"Oh God, don't remind me of that atrocity."
"I really liked it!" He passionately added as he shook his fists in front of himself, "And when you helped me with tutoring! Half of this stuff I could hardly understand without your help." He most definitely would've kept going on had you not put a hand up to stop him from doing so.
His words struck a chord in you and made you think for a few seconds about what he just said. Mayhaps the one thing that kept you from totally dismissing his compliments were how specific they tend to be, as he'd just exemplified, proof that he wasn't pulling all of this out of his ass and just being nice. You felt an innocent warmth tickle at your cheeks, but paid no mind to it, "You really think my tutoring helped?"
He finally spoke happily at the first sign of you taking his words in, "I know it did, Akaashi even said so. Even though I kind of got us off track from what's in front of us," he finished with a laugh.
Laughing along with him, "We should have plenty of time to finish this."
"Oh, do you have the macarons you mentioned earlier?" He excitedly peeked to your back beside you.
"After we finish."
He obliged innocently, not even aware of the oncoming compliment, "Okay, you know I can't help myself, they're so good~"
They're not all that. You nearly let that slip out before stopping yourself, not wanting to contradict his reassuring words already, and also knowing he'd never fib about food of all things. Thinking back to his words however makes you dwell on what he was going to say earlier before changing his answer.
An 'I like you' is probably too unrealistic.
A sudden epiphany of everything he's ever said and done had your mind blanking on you when it quite literally shone a light on a plausible yet unbelievable theory. A glance at him revealed he'd been staring at you the whole time you zoned out, the sight making your heart skip a beat as you asked nervously, "Sorry, did you say something?"
He shook his head and looked down to his paper in giddiness, "Nope."
It got hotter under your button-up, your brain struggling to comprehend that you're heavily blushing right now and doing a poor job of hiding it.
You thought to yourself as you turned to your own paper and fanned yourself, I'm fucked.

A/N: Thank you for reading this hot mess. I wish I didn't take so long with this because I've been talking about it for a few days now, but it was good practice writing about multiple characters at one like this (that and practice for writing headcanon lists of this type).

- wow, where do you even start
- wou don't know WHY oikawa is the one with a bunch of fans, when his hunk of a best friend is right there
- but it's okay. less competition, am i right lass.
- you do not hide your liking towards iwaizumi.
- "iwaizumi is so cool!" you say with hearts, visibly forming on your eyes
- "are you aware that you're talking to yourself?" kunimi asks with a stoic face
- "very aware."
- iwaizumi messes up his spikes every now and then because he feels you watching him
- YOU'RE JUST. THAT. PRETTY. 😭😭
- he gets all shy whenever you hand him his things because he can see flowers and sparkles all around your face
- "..thanks, y/n."
- "you're welcome, iwa!"
- PARDON??
- WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL HIM.
- "o- oh—! sorry for calling you that. i heard oikawa say it, and well.." you sheepishly apologized. you truly didn't mean it. it completely flew over your head that this was just your first day as their manager.
- "no, it's okay. it was cute." iwaizumi puts a halt to his step.
- ok
- wgat ☺️
- so here you two are, a blushing mess, while the third years watch
- "i bet the entire team some ramen that iwaizumi is the first to get married between him and oikawa." hanamaki says.
- "deal." matsukawa accepts
- "you two are so annoying..!" oikawa cries out
- maybe maddog will grow more accustomed to your presence if you'll be iwaizumi's future wife :p

@lycheesuwa ship & prompt: “One more time” w/ Akira Kunimi ˚₊˚✧👅✧˖°🩵
Tumblr media
"Im not with you yet" Kunimi grabbed your body and manipulated it to his liking, putting you down next to him, face up this time and letting your arm around his neck. He pressed himself against you and unconsciously, you spread your legs, a usual reflex response whenever Kunimi wanted to touch you. He smiled at the not so unexpected act. "You really know what I want, huh?"
Heavy breathing. Hands around your hips. Moans mixing curse words and your lover's name as Kunimi slipped his arm behind your head and covered your eyes. His other hand crawled to your pussy, rubbing it without any mercy, care or calm. Depriving you of a sense made your hips rise instinctively. You wanted to feel him closer than he already was. You wanted him to once again take possession of your body.
"Who´s my girl? He asked. You didn't even listen to him, or so you thought. His words were tangled together. You only had ears for your moans and the sound of his wet fingers filling you again and again. "Who´s my girl?" He asked again loudlier, with authority.
"I am, I am!"
His hand left you for a second, but when he returned, you felt cold, as if a fluid added more lubrication to the movement of his fingers on your clit. Kunimi licked your juice and returned to you quickly. He felt filthy, but your taste on his tongue and the sight of your body squirming next to his made him realize it was worth it.
"You're close, aren't you? I can feel it" Your stomach burned every time you listened to him. Rough, sensual words, tickling your ear and overflowing you with each one.
"Kunimi... Kuni- ah!"
"One more time. Who´s my girl?" No doubt he wanted to see you cumming on his fingers as you reminded him of who you were. "Who?"
"I am"
"Say it" His breath reached yours, almost breathing both in unison. He was also close.
"I am Kunimi. I am, just me! Make me yours, make me—" and a burning heat crept from your stomach to your belly, lingering there for a few seconds, as sweet and electrifying as torture. Kunimi let you see at last, before now depriving you of your mouth and being able to moan in freedom. You watched him shudder beside you, regaling you with his deep growls in your ear, watching you both convulsing, and slowly recovering with wide breaths of air when he finally released you. His eyes were still fixed on your contracted bellies.
The ecstasy was grueling, but you swore that no one had ever touched you like that before, let alone almost depriving you of your complete release. Clearly Kunimi was a box of surprises.

how he confesses
haikyuu boys
Featuring: Kageyama, Kunimi, Shirabu
The Pretty Setter Squad (2)
Part 1, Part 3
kageyama tobio
"oh y/n dear! it's always so good to see you! come in" mrs. kageyama said as she greeted you. you smiled "good to see you too akari-san! thank you for letting me in"
you went into the kageyama household and took of your shoes. she smiled "tobio is setting up something in the basement, you can put your bag in his room if you want"
you nodded to her and was going to walk towards the stairs until tobio appeared at the corner "oh, hey y/n. i just finished setting up, meet me in the kitchen in a bit" he informed you and spared you with a little wave and a smile.
you giggled and nodded "okay tobio, i'm wondering what you have planned for us tonight" he shoved his hands in his pockets "you'll see" then went to the kitchen.
you shook your head fondly and headed to his room. you placed your bag near his door and went back down to meet the blueberry boy. you were already wearing your pj's, which was a hoodie and some shorts.
you found tobio preparing ingredients for smores, your eyes sparkled "oooh~ s'mores??" you asked stopping next to him. he smiled "yea, but it's a different kind of s'mores"
you tilted your head at him, waiting for him to explain. he blinked then focused back on placing bread in the glass container. "basically, we place some bread on the bottom, then some chocolate on top of the bread, then some marshmallows"
"how about the graham?" you rose a brow while helping him "you didn't let me finish. after that, we microwave it until the top of the marshmallows are golden brown or something"
he says while breaking apart the chocolate bars. you gasped in excitement, he held back a little smile hearing that. "oh my- so this is like a s'mores dip!?" you squealed.
he chuckled and nodded, keeping an eye on the chocolate on your hand making sure you don't break it unevenly. "okay, i love this idea!" you gushed.
he hummed "i knew you would. anyways, what disney movie do you want to watch" he had a ghost smile when he saw in the corner of his eye that you practically had whiplash from turning your head to him at a fast pace.
"we're watching disney?!" you asked with such excitement, it just made you cuter.
god, stop being so cute. you're giving the poor boy a heart attack.
he nodded, not saying anything. "can we watch rapunzel? ooh! and the little mermaid?" you asked excitedly, you were bouncing on your heel, thinking of what else to watch while the volleyball maniac was placing the marshmallows on top of the chocolate.
"we can watch any movie you want" he said absentmindedly, putting the glass container in the microwave and setting the time.
you hopped on the counter and swung your legs childishly. tobio leaned on the counter and looked at you.
you were smiling uncontrollably while watching the microwave giddily. his eyes softened and decided to make a move. he moved so he was in front of you, hands on either side of your thighs.
you stopped swinging your legs and looked at him, shocked and flustered. "t-tobio?"
he was just staring at you fondly, then his eyes moved to where your hands were fiddling with the hoodie sleeve. he gently took one of your hands into his and looked up at you.
you blushed at the action, maintaining eye contact with him.
"keep smiling at me like that, please"
kunimi akira
"thanks for helping, l/n-san" iwaizumi bowed to you. you smiled and waved it off "i think it should be me who has to thank you. it's my job to cleanup, you didn't have to help me"
he stood tall and shook his head "you would need help with all this big space honestly, the others are lazy. i'll get them to help next time, they shouldn't leave a girl cleaning up this whole place."
you giggled "always such a gentleman, iwaizumi-san" you bowed then stood up straight "i should get going. kunimi-kun and i are gonna hang out"
"is he waiting for you?"
"yup! he didn't help because he said he had to get something first" you grabbed your bag from the bench and stepped out the gym, your upperclassman following behind.
he nodded "well, have fun l/n-san. i have to go kill crappykawa for leaving you to clean up most of his mess"
you locked the gym doors with the key and placed it in your pockets. "ok, make sure to go easy on him senpai, we need our captain in perfect shape for the practice match in a few days"
he chuckled "yea sure. bye l/n-san, have a good night" he waved. you waved back "bye senpai! you have a goodnight too"
you walked to the school gate since kunimi said he'll be waiting for you there. you see the lazy boy leaning against a pole with his phone in hand and a lollipop in his mouth.
"kunimi-kun! i'm here" you called out to him and he looked up from his phone. he pocketed his phone and stood up straight "you ready to go?" he asked, the lollipop still in his mouth.
you hummed in response and nodded "where are you taking me?" both of you started walking out of the school.
"you'll see"
you followed kunimi to your destination while both of you talked about anything that came up to mind. the boy suddenly stopped at the bottom of a hill and turned to you.
"we're here. we just have to go up there" he pointed at the top and you nodded "ok, im excited on what you have planned" you grinned
he looked away bashfully "mhm, yea" you two proceeded to go up the hill. once you reached the top, you saw a picnic blanket laid on the grass and a picnic basket at the side.
your eyes sparkled "a picnic? this late?" you asked. he shrugged his bag off and sat down on the blanket "a sunset picnic. i thought it would be cool.. i guess.."
he said, a little red in the face. your jaw dropped "seriously??" he nodded then grabbed the picnic basket and placed it in the middle.
you sat down and opened the picnic basket. it showed some juice boxes, chocolate, and two boxes. you grabbed on of the boxes and carefully placed it on the blanket.
you got the other box and placed it beside the other box. you opened the first one you grabbed and it showed a bunch of sliced bananas coated in nutella, and wrapped in crepes with sliced strawberries on top.
it looked like a very sweet sushi.
Tumblr media
(picture for reference incase you didn't get it)
"oh my god, that looks so good" you muttered to yourself then opened the other box. it showed two mini strawberry cakes with two plastic forks at the side.
you grinned then placed the picnic basket at the side. you held up the box with the strawberry cakes and gave a fork to kunimi while you got the other one.
you and him both enjoyed the cake while making conversation. time passed and you finished the cakes, the sweet sushi, some chocolates and are now drinking the juice boxes.
you then looked in front of you to see a beautiful sunset coming together and you gasped and got out your phone.
the lazy boy turned to you and saw you taking pictures of the sunset while your juice box was propped on your knee with the straw in your mouth.
he rose a brow but shook his head fondly. "kunimi! look how pretty it is" you said while pointing your camera at the sunset.
he stared at you for a moment before saying:
"turn the camera around and it will be prettier"
shirabu kenjiro
"y/n-chan~ any song suggestions?" tendou questioned you while waving around his phone. you walked over to him "i do! can i use your spotify, senpai?"
he nodded and handed you his phone. you searched up your playlist and after a few scrolling, you found it. "i made this playlist for all of us to listen to while doing dumb shit"
semi laughed a little "woah, watch your language there" you pouted and gave him a stink eye. he rolled his eyes.
the whole shiratorizawa boys volleyball club are our tonight. hanging around an abandoned playground deciding to just fool around. ushijima brought a volleyball, semi, shirabu, and you brought snacks while tendou brought a speaker
the others where just making idle conversation while some where playing with the rusty swing set. your playlist playing in the background softly, not too loud to wake up the people sleeping but, not soft enough to the point you wont be able to hear it.
tendou was playing around with the swing while playfully singing along to the lyrics of the song. semi sat on the other swing while bopping his head to the song.
the others were sitting on the ground, playing some never have i ever. shirabu was at the top of the slide while staring at the stars. you decided to join him.
you climbed up the ladder leading to the slide and sat beside him. he flinched a little but relaxed when he realized it was just you "oh, hey y/n-san"
you smiled "kenjiro-san" you nodded "what are you doing here all alone? don't tell me you're being a tsundere right now" you teased lightly.
he huffed "no, im just stargazing, i guess" you rose a brow "you guess? or is there something on your mind?" he hummed but didn't say anything.
you didn't pry any further and just joined him in stargazing. you glanced at him a few times but it looked like his head was in the clouds. you wonder what he's thinking about.
"i can feel you glance at me. what? don't you have a phone? you could just snap a picture and stare at that instead" he said, giving a teasing smirk.
you blushed and looked back at the stars. oops, you've been caught. "shut it tsundere" he was really smug "mhm, ok" was his only response.
"hey, you two, get down here. we're gonna play some truth or dare" semi said while looking at you two. you nodded "yes sir.." you slid down the slide and shirabu did the same.
you both sat down on the ground near the group. "ok, me first!~ ushiwaka, truth or dare?" tendou said looking at the captain. the green haired boy blinked and said "truth"
tendou pouted "no fun, oh well, next time. anyways, do you like anyone at school?" he grinned. "like? i like l/n-san. she is very good at managing us. i also like everyone in the volleyball club. you're all good at this sport" was his answer.
tendou grumbled. obviously the dense captain didn't understand the actual meaning of the red head and that annoyed the middle blocker.
semi chuckled "should have made it more specific tendou" "shush, semi-semi. it's your turn ushiwaka"
"okay. semi-san, truth or dare?" "dare" semi responded immediately. you rose a brow "feeling bold semi-san?" said boy shrugged "it's the captain. it won't be anything embarrassing"
you nodded in understanding. "i dare you to sing for us. i heard you sing before, it sounds melodic" ushijima dared semi.
"huh?- oh, uhm. sure" semi didn't expect the compliment from their captain but did the dare.
(im not shipping them- im sorry if i made it seem like i implied that but im not- im just having a difficult time writing what i think ushijima would say. im not used to writing about these type of characters)
he sang along with whatever was playing on the playlist while all of you listened. when it was done you all clapped "you have a good voice semi-semi" tendou complimented.
semi nodded "thanks" "i never knew you could sing semi-san" shirabu said. said boy shrugged "i don't really flaunt it or anything so.." he trailed off.
"anyways, my turn. y/n-san, truth or dare?" you hummed "truth" "ok, uhm. what's on your bucket list?" semi asked, a little curious.
you blinked "well... i guess i wanna travel the world. uhm, get married someday, swim with dolphins... and get-" you got cut off when you felt a raindrop land on your nose.
the others put their hand out only to feel small raindrops dropping on it. "oh it's raining" goshiki said. "looks like we'll have to cut this short. do you guys have umbrella's?"
semi asked while standing up, the others following. "i do" ushijima said while bringing his umbrella out and opening it. "my house is nearby, i can just run" tendou said while putting the hood of his hoodie up.
"mine's close too! ill go with tendou-senpai" goshiki said. semi turned to you and shirabu "i have my own umbrella, how about you two?"
"i have an umbrella. me and kenjiro-san can share since we live close to each other" you said while pulling shirabu under the slide for cover since you have to find the umbrella in your bag.
semi nodded "alright, how about you guys?" he turned to the others while some said they could just run and the other half said they had umbrella's
he nodded "ok, see you guys on monday. stay safe" semi said while pulling out his umbrella and opening it. everyone said their goodbye's and goodnight's while leaving.
you were rummaging around your bag while shirabu stood in front of you to block you from getting wet. "so.. what was the last part on your bucket list?" the boy asked nervously.
you pulled out your umbrella and looked up at him "oh, i always wanted to kiss in the rain, it's kind of romantic" you giggled bashfully and looked down.
"how about you? what's on your bucket list?" you asked him. he stayed silent for a while before pulling you into the rain "wha-" you were about to vocalize your surprise before you get cut off by a pair of lips meeting yours.
your eyes widened but they softened when you felt his warm hands on your waist and cheek. you dropped your umbrella and wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him back.
after a few seconds you pulled away to catch your breath. your clothes and hair getting soaked from the rain.
then he spoke.
"i wanna be the one to kiss you in the rain"
i made shirabu's longer than the other two- it's probably because i was worried i might make shirabu's shorter so,,, yea. kageyama's confession was little similar with semi's except the pillow fort but i hope you like it <3 sorry i took so long hehe..

Hi there! I go by Oliver and my pronouns are he/him. I’m bi and would like a matchup for Haikyuu! I’m a smol Gemini boi with wavy brown hair and a love for cooking, music, & fashion. At a glance, I may seem cold. I hardly smile and only speak when spoken to. Truth is, I’m just very reserved. I’m cuddly and affectionate to whoever earns my trust! If someone has a birthday soon, they get a sweet treat from me. Oh, and I adore rabbits and pandas! Thanks again and I love your writing! ☺️👍🏼

He likes that you're quiet, it gives him someone to be quiet with
He enjoys just sitting in silence or just doing your own thing, it brings comfort doing it with someone else
He likes watching you cook, something about seeing you do something you love brings a smile to his face
On birthdays he'll always try to outdo whatever gift you got him the next year, maybe a giant Panda plush or Bunny cupcakes
He's never been big on fashion, his fashion is more whatever doesn't smell like actual ass. But it might get better if you help him a bit
Kunimi is quite tall so he likes to lean on you sometimes, he doesn't even do it to tease you he just doesn't want to use all his energy
He likes cuddling, gives him a sense of comfort. Holding you close as you drift off to sleep in his arms.

Kunimi x tsukki x kenma x akaashi x little reader where she Regressed in babyspace and feels sick but cant tell them bc she's non verbal and want to be Held and even when she falls asleep and she feels when she get put down she wakes up and start crying 🥺🥺
(I used in the request the pronoun she her but u can use any pronoun u want)
Poly!Nope Squad x Regressed!Reader
Don’t mind me but this was a requested fic and I think that’s what motivates me most knowing someone is anticipating something on my behalf. But I did try my best because I’ve never ventured into babyspace but I do know someone who has. Also it’s fine I don’t mind writing for any gender or pronouns! It’s just gender neutral is mine own default for inclusivity
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was raining yet again for the fourth time this week in Tokyo. This wasn’t a new revelation as it was spring and heavy rainfall was expected. Sitting up in bed alone Y/N couldn’t help the frown from appearing on her warm face. Normally she would be the third one up behind Keiji and Kei. But today she was the last one which only happened when she pulled an all-nighter or if she was sick.
Rubbing her eyes harshly she let out a small cough with a disgruntled look on her face. This wasn’t a normal cold for her as she felt an added factor to the situation. Sitting in bed alone she felt fuzzy inside and from her watering eyes and quivering lip she knew she couldn’t fight it. Before she knew it she had regressed which wasn’t uncommon for her to do. Her life partners were aware of her regression but she had never regressed into baby space before.
She was lost as she sat in bed until the bedroom door opened and a rather calm Akira walked into the room. On days like this Akira didn’t have to go into work at Eleventh Bank. Something Akira enjoyed as he usually got to sleep in. “Baby…are you okay? You don’t look well..” he said in his usual monotone voice.
All she could do was look up at him with wide teary eyes and a quivering bottom lip. She couldn’t bring herself to speak she felt nonverbal which usually never happened when she was in little space. So instead she decided to raise her arms making grabby hands at him. Understanding fully what she was trying to get across Akira smiled softly at her before picking her up. When she was secure in his arms she hid her face against the side of his neck.
Akira with his arms around her body as he carried her out of the room had a puzzled look on his face. Though this wasn’t the first time he had picked her up this was the first time she was so quiet about it. They all knew how slightly talkative she was even in littlespace. But he picked up on something different she was warm to the touch and so quiet.
Making his way into the living room with her in his arms he looks at Kozume who is playing his switch. “Eh, what’s wrong with, kitten?” he asks Akira.
Akira could only shake his head, “I don’t know…I think she’s not feeling good. But I can’t tell because she isn’t talking.”
Kozume raised an eyebrow at his words before placing down his switch. Standing up from the couch he was slumped on he walks over to Akira and Y/N. Placing the back of his hand against her forehead he sighed, “I think she has a fever..”
Moving his hand to her cheek he smiles at her, “Hey kitten…are you not feeling good? You’re so warm..” he says gently. He could tell from her pout and glossy eyes that she had regressed. “Are you feeling little, kitten?”
She could only nod her head slowly with a pout as she looked at Kozume. Yet she didn’t say anything she still couldn’t speak even if she wanted to. Something in her head was preventing her from doing so.
Tumblr media
Not even an hour later after they had bathed her, fed her, and read her a bedtime story she was asleep. The only issue was that she was asleep in Kozume’s arms. He didn’t want to leave her alone in the bedroom but he did have a scheduled stream soon. So against his own want to keep her close to him, he decided to lay her down in their bedroom.
Moments later Kei had gotten home wearing his training with the Sendai Frogs. He still had on his uniform as he cleaned his glasses with a cloth. Making his way past Akira who was cooking dinner in the kitchen, whom he greeted, he walked upstairs. When he made it upstairs he heard the sound of soft sobs and whimpers from their bedroom.
With a confused look on his face, he walked into the bedroom before spotting his princess curled up on the bed in tears. Walking over to her he shakes his head, “Don’t tell me you’re pouting…did Akira say no to sweets before dinner again?” He teased.
Yet his teasing words didn’t go over well with her as she only cried a little louder. Kei found this strange as he removed the blanket from her head. His eyes took in her swollen eyes from tears, her frown, and how she hadn’t spoken to him in return. “What’s wrong, Princess? Are you okay?” He asked worriedly.
She didn’t say a word all she did was crawl over to him on the bed. Her arms wrapped around his midsection as she let out noises of discomfort. Kei seemed to have caught on as he picked her up rocking her a bit. “You’re sick…do the others know? You’re so warm,” he coped out unintentionally.
She nuzzles her cheek against his cheek with a nod as she clings to his tall figure. “You’re awfully quiet today too…” Kei says as he grabs her chin with one hand. He stares into her eyes before shaking his head, “You seem to be in a deeper headspace than usual..feeling smaller?”
All she did was nod and confirm his words which Kei figured. He remembered Keiji speaking about how at times regressors can regress younger than they usually do. This normally happens when they are under more stress than they usually are. “You’re feeling like a baby?” He asked calmly.
Yet another nod as Kei thinks over what he remembers about baby space. This was unfamiliar territory for him as he had never seen his princess in a headspace younger than 5 or 6. “I’m guessing that’s why you’re not talking too…huh?”
He didn’t even need to see her nod, which she did, to know her being in baby space was the reason she was nonverbal. Kei only held her tight in his arms before leaving the bedroom, thoughts of changing long forgotten.
Tumblr media
Later that day when Keiji had finally left his home office, which was in a secluded part of the house, he walked downstairs. He was amused to see Kei trying to put down a reluctant and crying Y/N. It seemed the last thing she wanted was to be put down for a nap even if she would be sleeping on the couch next to him.
“What’s going on here?” Keiji asked in his rather caring voice. As he did she perked up making grabby hands at him.
“She doesn’t want me to put her down even when I told her I’ll be right beside her. I think she regressed further than usual as she’s nonverbal right now. She also has a little fever but that has gone down a bit,” Kei said.
Keiji could see the the exhaustion on Kei’s face as he tried to get her to sleep. “Don’t worry Kei, do what you need…I’ll take care of her..” he assures.
Before Kei could protest or she could whine Keiji had already scooped her up in his arms. Sitting on the couch with her in his arms he presses kisses to her slightly warm skin. When he does a flurry of giggles leave her pouty lips. “Look at you dove causing such a fuss..” he said affectionately as Kei walked upstairs to shower and sleep.
After Kei went upstairs Keiji let out the couch so that he could lay down on it with his dove. Since it was a lazy body that could work as an oversized bed he grabbed a blanket off of the back of the couch.
“It’s okay dove..I’ll be here when you wake up..” Keiji cooed as he pressed kisses along her cheeks and nose. With his words of comfort, she did exactly that and fell asleep in his arms as they laid on the couch.
Tumblr media
When she woke up hours later she felt better as her fever had gone down fully. Rubbing her eyes she still felt tired but she didn’t feel as small as she did before. Looking around she noticed it was still raining and the TV was playing an episode of Bluey.
Not only that but she noticed all four of her boyfriends asleep on the couch around her. She couldn’t help the smile that appeared on her face as it seemed they wanted to keep her company.
“Kitten…why are you up? Go to sleep..” Kozume said from his position beside Akira. His eyes were partially open as he looked at her. With a nod, she listened before curling up between Kei and Keiji. This time she fell asleep with no issue knowing that regardless of what happened she would always have them there for her.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed anon! I think I’ll be writing a bit more but I don’t know. I recently started grad school and I’ve been occupied with that and settling into adulthood.

"this is actually so nasty."
you'd been chewing on a piece of beef sausage for a solid minute now, and you couldn't bring yourself to swallow it. it was too big and like.. meaty? damn the taste was getting overwhelming now and you wanted to spit it out.
"you're the one who asked how to build muscle. you gotta have protein after working out. would you rather have my protein peanut butter powder on ezekiel bread instead?" he smirked, getting down to your eye level, knowing how much you hate the texture of peanut butter.
you pouted. "you're so cruel."
"you asked. i'm helping."
you rolled your eyes before finally managing to swallow that last bite of beef sausage.
"bleh. that was getting really gamey. i need something sweet to wash it down, ugh." you spit.
"you have such a sweet tooth, you know that?"
"you say that like it's a crime! i just like sweets, is that so bad?"
he chuckled. "don't worry y/n. i've got you and your sweets kink."
"it's not a kink!"
"yeah, yeah."
you scowled and turned around, arms crossed, eyes closed, when suddenly, you were met with a cold, wet, sensation.
"AEEEE! oh my god-AKIRA!"
he batted his lashes at you. "yes, y/n, dear? i've retrieved a can of soda to satisfy your desires.."
"don't press it to my cheek like that, its so cold!"
he laughed. "kinda the point, babe. here, drink up."
his stupidly handsome face melted away your fake-anyways anger. you popped open the can and took a big chug.
"mmmm! that hits the spot! so good!" you said, savoring the sweet cherry flavor and the way the carbonation tingled in your throat.
"i'll never understand your obsession with that stuff. i mean, is it really that good?" he questioned.
"yeah!" you replied. you want a little taste?" you asked, offering him the can.
"yeah."
with that, instead of taking a sip from the can, he gave you a sweet kiss on the lips that made you melt.
when he pulled away, he licked his lips and sent you a look that sent shivers down your spine. "i kinda get it now. it is pretty good."
you ignored the racing in your heartbeat. "right?"
"and oh, hey, look!"
you looked around. "huh?"
"that cherry flavor was pretty good, but i like this one better," he said, cupping your cherry-red cheeks.
you couldn't help but laugh. you knew that if you told akira's team about this cheesey side of him, they'd raise their eyebrows and go, "huh? kunimi? no way, that's just too hard to believe." you were kind of glad, though. you got this version of him all to yourself. you stared up at him with a goofy lovesick grin.
"god, i love you."
he smiled in return.
"ok! now that you have something to wash down the sausage, how about we try my protein pasta?"
"NOOOO"
Tumblr media
lolol my brain when the big meaty sausage came up resisted the urge to make my first spicy post(even though i'd probs get embarrassed and erase it after bc i know myself well enough to know that there's no way i can write anything more than slightly suggestive)

hello, Would you do how akaashi, semi and kunimi would wake up their s/o?
Hello! fun fact while I have written for Akaashi and Kunimi many times, I have never written for Semi so I am very excited LOL. I hope you enjoy this! Thanks so much for requesting!
How Akaashi, Semi and Kunimi would wake up their S/O
Characters: Akaashi, Semi and Kunimi x reader
Warnings: none really, just mentions of semi being a menace
Tumblr media
Akaashi Keiji:
When Akaashi wakes you up he is nothing short of gentle. 'Y/n, Darling, it's time to get up..'
Will never, and I repeat, NEVER do anything brash or harsh to wake you up.
Gentle calls of your name, softly rubbing your back up and down, anything and everything to give you a pleasant wake up.
If that doesn't work then he'll do all of those things with just a little bit more force but not much.
Like I said- he's incredibly gentle with you in the mornings, AKA he would never, let's say, dump a cup of cold water on your face (i'm lookin at you semi..)
You felt sleep begin to drift from you as a warm hand gently caressed up and down your back, Akaashi's deep voice slowly bringing you from your slumber. You blinked your eyes, slowly taking in a deep breath as you burrowed into your pillows. Akaashi smiled watching you snuggle further into your covers, gently patting your shoulders as he allowed you a few more seconds to wake up. "Good morning, it's about time to get up."
Semi Eita:
When Semi wakes you up it's a very steady progression from calm and nurturing to 'Y/n...if you don't WAKE UP-'
I'm not saying Semi is a volatile person who becomes angry at the drop of a hat.
However I am suggesting that he does have a little bit of a uh...
temper.
He gives you 3 nice attempts; calling your name softly, gently patting your shoulder, even gently turning up/on your favorite music.
But when that doesn't work, well then he pulls out all the stops and wages war.
"Y/n...Y/n wake up...Y/n I swear-" You heard him take in a deep breath, muttering things under his breath before you felt the covers shift and the mattress become lighter. You could hear his footsteps thumping across your room and into the attached master bathroom. Sensing he was going to resort to his less than preferable methods of getting you up, you sat up and stretched, giving him a smile and huffing a laugh when you see him covertly dump the cup of water he had gotten in the sink.
Kunimi Akira:
When Kunimi wakes you up it's out of urgency since it means you both over slept. 'Y/n...babe wake up...we're late'
Unless you are a super heavy sleeper, NOT a morning person, or just absolutely averse to getting up in the morning- it's unlikely he'll be the one waking you up.
As you're usually the one waking HIM up so he can well not be fired from his job.
But, on the off chance he's the one who has to wake you up, I can imagine him being very quiet, very calm and very dedicated to waking you up in a good mood.
especially if you're like me and out for blood when you wake up
"Y/n...Y/n...we overslept again." Thankfully today was Saturday so neither of you were currently running late for work...just the grocery run you guys were supposed to do last weekend. You both had planned to go out and get breakfast, walk around the stores a bit, basically make a whole day out of it. But the bed had been so warm...and so comfy and before you knew it it was 11 am and both of you were still fast asleep. It appears the same thing has happened this weekend. Only now you guys REALLY needed groceries. You groaned, not yet really wanting to face the day as you rolled over towards him. "...5 more minutes.." "Works for me".
just gonna go ahead and tag @i-just-like-goats because kunimi🤭

Real Sweet But I Wish You Were Sober
Kunimi x gn!reader
Finals were finally over. To most of your peers, including your best friends, it meant it was time to blow off steam.
Unfortunately for some of those friends, it also meant they would find you at a frat party two shots shy of becoming whiskey drunk- and you were pretty sure they drew straws or something to decide who to send after you.
And when you were whiskey drunk, you would become brutally honest with anyone- while still managing to be a hype man.
It was an odd combination, not one many people could walk the line of, but you always managed to do it.
Kunimi sighed as Kindaichi patted his shoulder, “You know the rules man, it’s your turn.”
“I know,” the tired man watched from a distance, grimacing as he saw you down another shot, “I hate when it’s mine turn.”
“Makes you feel better, Y/N doesn’t generally remember anything the next day.”
“That’s what make it worse.” He sighed again, dodging his way through the crowd until he managed to slide into the spot next you, “Y/N-“
“Akira!” You exclaimed, falling on him as you stumbled over a step to throw your arms around him in a hug, “Are you gonna be any fun tonight?”
“I think you’ve had enough fun for both of us.” He grumbled, catching your weight in his arms when you shifted and almost tumbled to the ground, “Come on, let’s get you some water.”
“But-“
“No buts-“ He hoped you wouldn’t notice the smile he was trying to suppress tugging at his lips when you pouted, “We need to get some into you or your hangover tomorrow will be god awful and I’m the one that’ll have to hear about it.”
Your pout shifted to a glimmering smile, and he cursed the way his heart betrayed him as it thumped at seeing it so close, “You always take such care of me, Akira.”
Do you think he could do any less? He sighed for what felt like the hundredth time since Yahaba had even broached the idea of celebrating the end of another college year to begin with, “Yeah, yeah, come on.” He slung his arm around your waist, trying to support you as he led you to the kitchen to find water.
“Are you trying to cop a feel, Akira?” He wished he could blame the flush in his cheeks on alcohol like you could, “I’m kidding!” You snorted, “We both know you don’t think of me like that. No matter what I do.”
You were already at this point?? Fuck, he’d have to get you home fast. Usually when you started gushing his praises it meant you were on the verge of passing out for the night.
Kunimi didn’t care for a lot of things. He didn’t care for wasting energy. He didn’t care for people nine times out of ten. He didn’t care for parties.
And yet here he was, wasting his own energy surrounded by people at a frat party he didn’t want to be at.
The reason for that was the same reason every time he found himself in this situation: you.
“…okay with the way things are, really I am.” He looked at you, struggling to keep your eyes open as you kept muttering more to yourself than to him as your hands clutched the water glass he managed to place in them. How were you still so ethereal to look at? “Seijoh gifted me with so many friends in the years we were there. The old captain is actually famous now and all… but I don’t think I’ll ever be half as thankful for what I got there as I am for our friendship. Even if it’s only ever friendship.”
You grinned at him, bright and happy, with eyes like you were looking at everything you could ever want in the world, “You’re always so sweet.” He sighed, practically grumbling under his breath, “I wish you could say it sober for once. I grant the wish in a heartbeat.”
The next morning you didn’t seem to remember any of it, you never did. Kunimi never let it show on his face but, as much as it hurt him, he still cherished those drunken moments from you. They gave him hope that maybe one day you could actually give him the type of love he had been waiting to give you for years.
But he tried to ignore it, tried to shove away the feelings he wanted to share.
Instead of taking the night in with you like he always did after you drank too much, he found himself at another party hoping to drown his own feelings.
He didn’t see Kindaichi and Yahaba watching him warily, didn’t see when they placed the call, but suddenly you were sitting beside him. Smiling like you always did when you saw him. Too bright to be for someone as grumpy as he was.
“There you are, Akira!” You said in lieu of greeting, “Didn’t get enough last night?”
“Didn’t.” He grunted, why were you here? You never left your dorm after a night out.
Poking his side, you laughed when he jolted, “Come on, grumpy. Thought you didn’t like going out.”
“Don’t.” He grunted again. “But do it for you.”
You blinked, your big eyes looking back at his, “You do it for me?”
“Yup. Cause I like you- someone needs to take care of you when you go out.”
The smile was softer this time, he always got lost in that one, almost didn’t hear you speak, “That’s really sweet, but I wish you’d say it sober.”
“What?” He went stock still, but you didn’t seem to notice.
Your fingers ran through his hair, you never had qualms about touching him like the others did, “It’s impossible to read your mind. Sometimes I think you feel the way I do. Sometimes I think you tolerate me at best.”
Someone called your name, and you pressed a kiss to his cheek before your presence was gone. Had he imagined you here to begin with?
When Kunimi woke up, he had no memory of getting home. But he could remember you, saying exactly what he’d said the night before. That was real, wasn’t it? Did you actually remember what he said in your drunken state?
Hangover be damned, he was throwing on the first sweats he could find, feet being stomped into his shoes.
“Whoa-“ Kindaichi jumped as he shoved his way past to get to the door, “Kunimi, what’s the hurry?”
“I need to talk to Y/N. Something they said-“
“Akira?” He spun around, in his haste to find you he hadn’t actually looked around the apartment he shared with Kindaichi, but now he found you in the kitchen nursing a cup of coffee as you slid one his way, “What’s the hurry?”
“Are you sober?”
His question made you tilt your head, but he could see something like hope glimmering in your eyes. “I am.”
“I am, too.” He echoed, “At least I’m pretty sure I slept it off. But-“
“Breathe, Akira. I’m not going anywhere.”
He did so obediently, wondering how he never noticed the power you have over him in its entirety. You always had him doing things he would never let someone else talk him into.
“I like you.” He knew Kindaichi’s eyes were bugging out if his head somewhere behind him, shocked to hear him actually admit to feelings of any kind even if all their friends already knew. “I just-“
He wasn’t sure what he was going to say, he had never intended to tell you to begin with, but something this morning made him feel like he had to.
“I like you, too.” And then that soft smile was back on your face, “I know you always told me that you wished I was sober, but I just never knew what you’d say. At least I could pretend that it didn’t happen before.”
“Just say yes now,” he offered, “I know I’m not… I’m not what most people would want. People want effort and optimism and stuff that I’m not known for. But I’ll try for you.”
Laughing, you took his hand, “You don’t need to try to be anything but you. I’ve known you a lot of years now, and you’re exactly what I want.”
Oikawa FaceTimed in the middle of the night- greatly offended to find the two of you answering the call from a cuddle in Kunimi’s bed- that he had to hear the news from Kindaichi.

A/n: quick angst for blep boy. Kunimi’s a fave solely for that scene. Product of laryngitis y’all
Tumblr media
It’s discerning how Kunimi felt like he never had enough time for you. There were always more important things. Excuses, really. But now that you’re gone, he realizes how much time he actually has when he spends most of it alone, pondering about you. And your smile. And the way your cheeks would plump from joy.
With just a call or a text, you’d drop anything for him. And maybe that’s why he’d rather waste his days wandering campus or cancel plans, pretending he was busy while laying sideways in bed. There’d always be tomorrow and he’d always have more important things to do today.
It seems you’ve had enough of the neglect and you inform him the same way he avoids you: through text. I can’t do this anymore.
He scoffs at the thought that he wasn’t even warranted a goodbye. It’s a petty act that turns grim when the pit in his stomach grows heavy. The weight of his phone, suddenly unbearable to hold, slips from his fingers. The last he saw of you was yesterday, passing by class. He gave you a quick nod before hauling off because he only had fifteen minutes to walk across campus. He knew he’d see you later. He knew he’d be able say I’m sorry and make up for it with a kiss. But that certainty is now replaced with yearning and regret. Hardly nourishing your relationship knowing you would do so, he now feels barren, wilting without your touch.
But Kunimi is used to this. He can bullshit an essay two hours before a deadline and still get a passing grade. He can watch the ball fall in court rather than diving for a dig because in the third set, he’ll be ready to give it his all.
And right now, with the thought of you spurring him on, he’s ready to try his hardest. He comes in cradling flowers, chocolates, a new comfy blanket and your favorite movies. Kunimi knows he can turn your I can’t do this anymore into Let’s try again.
The look on your face when you answer your door isn’t shocking. Of course you’re angry. He promises he’ll take the brunt of it. He knows it’s all his fault and he’ll make up for it. As long as you allow him to kiss your plush cheeks again.
So he smiles. Because this is him going all out. It’s a sincere one that you gape at. Because you probably haven’t seen him grin like this in a very long time.
But he’s so, so happy to see you again. “Hey.”
It’s breathless, shocked by your beauty, shocked by his stupidity. Why did he ever try avoiding you in the first place?
You answer him with a glare and a cross of the arms, but your shoulder and hip leans on the doorframe. Kunimi can work with that. You’re willing to hear him out and that’s all he needs.
“I miss you. I’ve been thinking about you.” He admits. Honesty and feelings have never been his strong suit, but when your relationship is put on the line, the words slip and fall from his lips.
But you find humor in his words instead. In a sordid manner, “That’s hilarious, Akira.”
“No, I mean it. I do. I miss—“ His pleading falls on deaf ears. Kunimi wants to drop everything just to reach out to you. He wants to hold you by the shoulders and shake some sense into you. You love him, remember? He loves you. You know that right?
But you flick a wrist and dismiss him, “You’re too late.”
No. He’s never been too late. It’s 11:59pm and his assignments are all turned in. It’s the final set and he scores match point. He’s never been too late.
But you close the door on his face. An affirmative decision.
He’s too late.

“Come on, Kunimi!”
“No.”
Kunimi continues to work on his report, the sound of his finger clacking on his keyboard effectively drowning out the whiny groans of his best friend.
“Why not?” Kindaichi continues to badger through FaceTime, wearing a childish pout that has no business being on a grown man’s face, and only made Kunimi want to refuse even more.
“I’m busy,” was his simple reply, but he should have known that wouldn’t have worked on Kindaichi..
“No, you’re not, you were just telling me yesterday that you were free this weekend,” Kindaichi badgers even more, determined to get Kunimi to bend to his will, “Plus, I heard even Matsukawa-san and Hanamaki-san will be there.”
“I know,” Kunimi sighs, and Kindaichi fails to realize that this makes him want to go even less. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to see his old volleyball teammates again. And it wasn’t that he didn’t care that Oikawa was visiting for the first time in years.
But just imagining the amount of energy he’d have to consume from the inevitable chaos that would ensue throughout the duration of the night…
There were other things he’d rather do.
“I was talking to Y/N earlier today,” Kindaichi begins offhandedly, and he smirks when Kunimi’s fingers abruptly stop typing. “They said they were coming to the party.”
Kunimi clears his throat. “Is that so?”
“You know, I heard Iwaizumi-san is coming too,” Kindaichi continues.
Kunimi stays silent, and Kindaichi knows he’s got him.
“Hey, didn’t y/n used to have a huge crush on Iwaizumi-san?”
Kunimi begins his typing once more, the speed of his clacking more ferocious than ever.
“Hmm, I think I remember Matsukawa-san telling me that they all used to think y/n was really —“
“Ah! I’m so sorry I’m late,” you plopped your bags down on the cafe table Kunimi has been waiting at for the past twenty minutes, attempting to catch your breath as your chest heaves up and down.
“Speak of the devil,” you hear Kindaichi’s voice coming from Kunimi’s phone, and you look down to see his face waving from the screen.
“Kindaichi!” You greeted affectionately, crouching down so he could see you, “What were you guys talking about?”
“The reunion,” Kindaichi answers, and your face lights up.
“Ooh, I heard iwaizumi-san is going to be there!”
Kunimi could feel the vein pop in his forehead.
“Kunimi says he’s not going,” Kindaichi answers before Kunimi even gets a chance to hang up on him.
Your face falls instantly as you turn to Kunimi, and he winced at the frown he’s put on your lips.
“You’re not?” You ask sadly, wearing the very same pout Kindaichi had been sporting not even five minutes ago, yet this pout manages to slowly melt at his resolve.
“I’m thinking about it,” Kunimi replies, now ignoring his phone and talking to you.
“But Akira, it’s going to be so fun! Everyone’s gonna be there,” Kunimi hears the same argument for the second time today, but he finds it much cuter coming from you, “Go with me?”
Kunimi pretends to consider it for a moment, if only to stare at your pleading eyes for a moment longer.
“…as long as you hold my hand.”
The charm in your smile as you laugh makes Kunimi’s soften, and he feels proud when you place a soft peck on his cheeks.
“Ugh,” a forgotten kindaichi comments from the screen, “You guys are gross.”

kunimi + breeding kink
you were bent over for kunimi, feeling him pound into you. he'd already cum once and you could feel the white liquid being pushed in at out of you. it made your head spin just thinking about it.
"don't you just get off being my little cum dumpster?" usually, he hated doing this much work but if the reward was seeing your puffy cunt drooling with his cum, it was worth the effort.
his head threw back as he groaned, thrusting harder and harder until he finally felt his release getting closer.
"yes, yes, please i want you to use me!" you chanted back to him which was enough for him to cum in you a second time. with his dick still inside of you he pushed toward, making sure you're little cunt had taken everything he'd given you.

stay here with me (your heart in mine)
Tumblr media
kunimi akira · fluff · 3.8k words
summary: 10 years. a lot can happen in 10 years. but if no effort is made in that span of time, then it's just back to square one, since one plus zero equals to one. and thats where Kunimi has been standing in these 10 years.

“Do you know how great of a good friend you are?”
“Of course, I do.”
“Good. Because I’m revoking your good friend status now.”
Kunimi peers at the source of the voice over his shoulder, groaning in pain when he strains his neck sideways a little more than intended.
“Why so?” He croaks out, stretching his neck to ease the jabbing pain.
“Because a good friend would give their support by revising together or making themselves useful like bringing snacks or coffee. Not coming empty handed and sleeping on all fours like a slab of dead meat on the bed right next to me.”
A slab of dead meat is quite the fitting description, in all honesty. Kunimi’s face is buried into the pillow, butt up in the air, arms stretched out straight by the sides while his legs dangle over the edge of the bed just a little. It isn’t the best position to sleep in, but he can’t find an ounce of energy to move.
It’s quite the contrast from the latter. Kindachi has his face buried in the pile of notes before him, laptop screen staring brightly back at him with notes swamped all over his desk, a couple of empty cans of coffee sitting right on the edge of the messy desk waiting to be recycled. His supposedly easy-to-maintain short hair is somehow tousled from the non-existent wind. And if anyone didn’t believe that it was possible for a giant to shrink to a midget, then they would have to think twice because Kindaichi is the living proof in flesh. He’ll definitely be aching everywhere after his exam tomorrow from hunching all day long.
“Why should I use more brain energy when I’m finally done with my exams? There’s no more space for snacks or coffee on your desk either, so why bother.” Kunimi’s muffled response doesn’t help in relieving the stressed hunched giant.
“You could go somewhere else instead.” Kindaichi points out, jabbing his pen towards the window.
“She’s having her exams now. Plus, your place is nearer to mine.”
“Fancy you knowing who I’m referring to.”
Kunimi doesn’t need raise his head to see the ugly smirk dancing on Kindaichi’s lips teasingly. “You would have the same person in mind if it was you.”
“Nah, I thought it would be Yahaba-san you were referring to.”
“It’s not my fault that my building’s electricity is out till night without any prior notice.” He tries to change the topic.
There’s no way Kindaichi is going to let this slide easily. “Yeah, yeah. Sure. So you would’ve gone to her place if she was at home, am I right?”
Kunimi sighs into the pillow as he fails to make him drop the topic. “Don’t blame me for not being able to finish revising on time later on.”
“I’m already planning to place the blame on you after all.”
【☾】
“Aren’t you going to see her off tonight though?” Kindaichi questions, eyes still focused on the scribbled words inked on the papers scattered before him.
“For what?”
“Don’t you know? She’s leaving tomorrow.”
The new piece of news sparks Kunimi’s attention. “Where to?” He asks, rolling over to his side to face Kindaichi.
“I’m not quite sure,” Kindaichi taps his pen against his chin in thought. “Not quite sure what for either. Work placement, maybe? But I know that she won’t be coming back anytime soon after tomorrow.”
Kunimi’s raised eyebrows matches Kindaichi’s ones, albeit one in scepticism and the other in surprise.
“You seriously don’t know?” Kindaichi asks disbelievingly.
He finds the answer in Kunimi’s shift in position, back facing him again.
Sighing at his friend’s actions, Kindaichi resumes back to the pile of doom before him. “Well, this may be your last chance. Just saying.”
“For?”
“You know yourself best.”
Kindaichi knows that he should focus on the issue on hand that calls for urgency, but his idiot of a friend requires his immediate attention too.
“You’re actually pretty lucky, you know,” He can’t help but say. “All of these years, from primary school, middle school, high school, and even now in university. That’s more than 10 years. And you’re still in square one. That’s honestly quite an achievement.”
“I’ll take that as a complement.” Kunimi snorts.
“Seriously. I know life is a game, but it’s different from volleyball. There are still other matches after losing one, after the ball drops, but in life there’s some matches that end forever after the whistle blows. Even if you try and save the ball in the last minute, the libero may not be there to save your dig after the whistle blows.”
“I didn’t know you were so good with words.” Kunimi rolls over slightly to look at his friend.
His eyes light up in excitement. “I am?”
The grimace written on Kunimi’s face tells him otherwise.
“Okay, but in all seriousness again, you’re really an idiot if you don’t grab hold of the final chance this time. Don’t say I didn’t give you a heads up in advance.”
“You’re starting to sound a lot like Oikawa-san now with the nagging.” Kunimi comments as he rolls back to face the wall, shutting out the latter’s retorts as he sinks into his thoughts.
But Kindaichi’s right. From baby seedlings to the sturdy plants now, it’s been more than 10 years of knowing you. You have been a part of his life for more than half of his years, witnessing his and your growth over the years of stumbling and climbing back up again. To call you a mere childhood friend would be an understatement. Because he knows where you place in his heart. He’s smart enough to know, but perhaps not smart enough to acknowledge it.
But maybe Kindaichi’s wrong too. Maybe life is similar to volleyball too. The positions in volleyball can be used in real life too. Him being a wing spiker and you being a libero. He doesn’t need to look behind his back because you’re always there behind for him, no matter what.
But maybe Kindaichi isn’t completely wrong either. Because he knows time waits for no one. He knows the bitter taste in the gut when the whistle blows just as his hand is mere inches away from the ball dropping to the ground. He knows efforts pay off at the end of the day.
Maybe he should try going all out just this one time. His first that may be his last.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Kunimi doesn’t know how, or even why he ended up here, right in front of your doorstep. There’s still a chance to turn back. Even after a text that has been sent out or the ding on the doorbell that has been rang, he can still back off if he wants. The bag of beer and snacks can be kept for lazy weekends in the comfort of his blankets alone.
Why did he buy snacks anyway? Maybe he should’ve gotten ice cream instead.
But they would melt on the way here. But again, snacks aren’t the best option either. Not to mention beer. Talk about being healthy…
His train of thoughts snap apart when the door swings open before him.
“Hey, you’re here!”
He can leave those thoughts for later, he guesses.
“Come on in. Watch your steps along the way!”
The mini sea of shoes flooding the genkan and the aromatic whiff of dashi soup in the air has him halting his steps. He doesn’t even need to take a peek inside to know that he should’ve went home instead.
“Uh, are you sure you’re actually free now?” He asks over the chatter coming from the inside, still taking a peek at the small crowd huddled in the living room, nonetheless.
You stand in the small hallway connecting the genkan to the living room. “Yeah! We’re actually finishing up, so don’t worry. You can join us for a few bites if you want.”
“Is your friend here? Bring him in! You’re gonna miss out the last serving of pork slices if you don’t hurry.” Kunimi recognises the voice. It’s one of the girls from your friend group that he has hung out with a few times before.
“I-”
“Who is it? Shabu shabu waits for no one. The meat isn’t nice when it gets cold.”
“Don’t be shy! Just come on in! Unless you’re too shy to be graced by our beauty.”
You laugh at your friends’ antics, ushering him to come in. “Come on, you know who they are. They won’t skin you for extra meat.”
Another voice booms from the inside. “We might actually do that if you don’t make your way here now!” A round of hearty laughter that’s mixed with a couple of beer and sake roars loudly.
Kunimi heaves a wary sigh, calculating his options. “It isn’t that. It’s just…”
“Just what?” You ask.
He looks up to your quizzed look, then to the sudden quiet living room where multiple heads are craned out like a flock of ostriches, each with a devious knowing look on them.
Now there’s definitely no way to make it out of here unscathed.
One of the girls clears her throat loudly. “You know what’s the best way to wrap up the feast? Ice cream.”
“Yes! We forgot to pick some up along the way. Could you go get some for us?” Another girl chirps in, while the others nod their heads in agreement.
You scoff playfully at them, hands crossed against your chest. “You’re asking me, the owner of the place, to go get ice cream for the guests? And leave my friend alone here in danger?”
“Who said he’s gonna be here with us?” A girl raises her hand in defence. “Take a look outside! The moon is so lovely tonight. Isn’t it such a beautiful night to walk under the moonlight with your dear friend together hand-” Her sentence gets cut off by the others who cover her mouth before she blabbers any further, smiling meekly at the both of you.
You stumble a few steps to catch the jacket thrown in your way. “Any ice cream will do! And take your time! Don’t worry about us.” They wave you off, resuming to the steaming shabu shabu on the table.
The both of you look at each other bewilderment, digesting what just happened seconds ago.
“Well… Ice cream?” You chuckle, soothing the jacket in your hands.
He chuckles too. “Yeah, ice cream it is.”
So maybe getting snacks was the right option.
The early autumn wind nips on the skin lightly. The crunching sounds of dried crumpled leaves on the pavement makes up for the comfortable silence that blankets the both of you on the way back, bag of assorted ice creams in hand.
“What a great bunch of friends you have.” Kunimi comments.
“They’re quite a handful, but yeah, I can’t imagine the past four years without them.” You laugh light-heartedly. “Are you sure you don’t want to come in? I promise they won’t bite.”
He shakes his head lightly. “It’s alright. Just dropped by to bid you goodbye and to pass you these.”
You peer at the bag handed out and swiftly turn on your heels. “I know you’re lying.”
He almost drops the bag in his hands. “I’m not. Seriously, that’s all I came here for.”
“You could’ve just sent me a text for this. Why bother making your way all the way here?”
Your question has him frozen in his steps, brain malfunctioning as he fails to come up with a convincing and rational answer.
You take the chance to plop onto the nearby stone bench, ignoring his snorts when you hiss from the coolness of the surface. “Well, I’ll be seated here until you tell me what’s the purpose of your special visit.”
“The ice creams will melt.” Kunimi reasons, digging his hands into the pocket of his jacket.
“Doesn’t matter. We can go get them again. I’ll just charge them double.” You shrug, waving him off dismissively.
“Plus,” you emphasize, “they told us to take our time. So I have all the time in the world to hear you out.”
He knows that you won’t budge until he gives in, given your personality. So he heaves another long breath and drags his feet next to you.
You rummage the bag for the ice cream you picked earlier, handing him a caramel flavoured one as he thanks you. You catch the little smile tugging his lips as he rips open the ice cream packet.
“You still like this specific brand after so many years.” You tease.
He bites the tip of the ice cream to spite you, in which he succeeds. “They’re the best. One of the only ones that hasn’t changed their recipe after all these years.”
You narrow your eyes at the crime he committed as he munches on the ice cream with a deadpan face. One of the things that hasn’t changed all these years is this habit of his too.
“So, ready to come clean now?” You ask. The ice cream in both hands is long gone, melted into a pool of liquid that chills the stomach.
Kunimi sighs for what seems to be the thousandth time of the night. Resting his arms on his knees, he trains his sight on the concrete pavement below. It’s funny how his hands start to feel clammy again despite the cool wind in the air. “So… You’re leaving tomorrow, huh?”
“Yeah.”
Keep calm, he tells himself. “What time?”
“Early in the morning. I almost missed out on the tickets because I got them last minute.”
“Can’t wait to leave, huh…” He mutters.
“A little. I’ve been looking forward to this day for quite some time, and it’s finally here!” You exclaim, excitement lacing your voice.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
You snap your head towards him in surprise. “I did. I remember telling you and Kindaichi at the same time. You guys would be one of the firsts to know.”
Kunimi groans in despair as he tries to rack his head for the past memory yet no avail. He blames the now unnecessary scribbled notes from the exam earlier for taking up so much space in his brain.
The bare concrete pavement seems to be more interesting than ever tonight. “When will you be coming back?”
“I don’t know. It depends.”
“So this may be the last time I’ll be seeing you?”
“In a while, I guess.”
Another sigh escapes his lips unconsciously as he buries his face in his hands. What happened to playing it cool, huh.
“You’ll miss me, won’t you?”
A scoff sounds in the air. “As if.” He hastily replies, turning sideways to hide the tint of flush creeping on his cheeks.
You chuckle at his actions. “I know I’ll miss you.”
His eyes finally meet yours. And although his soft hair falls past his eyes a little, you see your reflection in them, as clear as day.
“Then why can’t you stay?” He asks, voice just above a whisper.
It’s your turn to heave out a long sigh. “I can’t, Akira. I can’t.”
“As much of importance you are to me, there’s just as much of importance waiting on the other side for me.”
“That just means I’m not that important.”
He doesn’t know how those words carelessly fell out through his gritted teeth. All he knows that the moon is, indeed, lovely tonight.
It is indeed beautiful night, with the moon bright and round above. But why does he feel like the moon is mocking him? As if on such a beautiful night, with the person that takes up a significant place in his heart, his wishes are fated to not be granted. They fall on deaf ears, discarded aside as he feels his hope slipping away from his fingertips like fine sand in the wind. Maybe this is the price of not going all out all these years.
Time had been kind to him, offering so many chances and opportunities to him. But he wasn’t one to grab hold on them, because he’s used to making it up at the last moment. And it always worked.
However, maybe it’s all too late this time round. Maybe he outsmarted himself this time.
In all these years of knowing Kunimi, you’ve never seen him like this. Not even when they lost the ticket to the nationals for three years straight. Not even when life got him all tied up, juggling schoolwork and work on a thin thread, struggling for a gasp of air. You know he’s a master of keeping his emotions to himself, and you should be grateful that he shows this vulnerable side of him to you on rare occasions, because he trusts you enough to be there to pick up the pieces with him. But today, it hurts even more to see him like this, like a star that has lost its glow, a balloon that is gradually deflating. Because today, you’re the one that’s causing him to fall to such a state.
“Akira. Look at me.”
He doesn’t.
Because he knows that he’ll find something that he detests with all his heart staring back at him: pity. He neither needs your pity to offer solace, nor needs your pity to stay. That would be the worst kind of consequence that he knows he will regret for the rest of his life. Yes, his selfishness and self-interest may be screaming to reign over at the moment, but he knows this isn’t the right way to keep you by his side.
You don’t belong to him; you belong to yourself.
“Akira.”
He shudders as he feels your warm fingers cupping both sides of his cheeks, turning his face to yours. He avoids your gaze on reflex, but as his eyes sweep past yours, he stops. Maybe he really outsmarted himself this time.
Instead of pity, he finds concern, warmth, sincerity. Why is that?
“You know how I feel about you, where you lie in my heart. You’re smart enough to know that.
“But it seems like you’re not smart enough to know yourself.”
He does. Or does he?
You brush his hair that covers his eyes to the side gently, a small smile tugging the side of your lips.
“If you aren’t important, then why do you already have a piece of my heart which I have never given you?”
Kunimi’s breath hitches. The butterflies in his stomach are so close in fluttering their way out from his mouth as he comprehends your words, reciting them aloud again and again in his mind.
He immediately misses your touch lingering on his skin when your hands fall to your sides. “It sucks that I’m not smart enough to know whether I have a piece of your heart that you have never given me.” You chuckle bitterly, looking up to the moon.
You may have been there to pick up the shattered pieces of his heart and soul over the years, but at the end of the day, you return them to him. It’s awfully tempting to smuggle a few pieces, hiding them in your pocket to keep them safe and sound, but you don’t. It’s his heart, his only.
It’s your turn to hitch a breath. “You do,” Kunimi says, placing his hand over yours. “You always have.
“And now, I’ll give you not only a piece of my heart, but my whole heart.” His squeezes your hand gently, leaning in close. “Is it too much to handle?”
It takes a few seconds for you to apprehend his words, and once it links together, the butterflies on your end take flight in frenzy.
“Yes. I mean, no. I-” The chill autumn wind isn’t helping much to cool down the heat rising on your cheeks and ears. You can’t look him in the eye without averting elsewhere other than him. “It’s my honour to be bestowed your heart.
“And I hope it’s the same for you.”
“Look at me.”
Kunimi tips your chin up to face him, and you are welcomed by the soft smile that you love seeing, the one you don’t know that’s reserved for you only.
“Thank you for trusting your heart with me.”
He wondered where the stars in the night skies went tonight. It turns out they were all in your eyes, and they shine so ever brightly even without the sliver glow of the moonlight.
“Come on. We need to get more ice cream.” Kunimi nudges towards the now soggy bag that has tainted the stone bench with colourful liquid.
He picks up the sticky bag with a tissue from his pocket, shaking them a few times lightly as he stands up and extends his other hand to you. “They’re all on me.”
You place your hands in his. “What about the broke student you are?” You quip, footsteps falling in line together with each gentle swing of the hand.
“Hmm, I would rather be broke than be skinned alive in the lionesses’ den back there.”

“Where are you leaving for though?”
“Miyagi. Our hometown.”
“What for?”
“It’s my grandma’s birthday tomorrow! I’m going back to give her a surprise and celebrate with my family over the week.”
You turn to him quizzically as he halts in his steps, rooted in place. His face is twisted and contorted in ways you never thought possible. It’s a mixture of shock, dumbfoundedness, and flabbergast all together. Words die at the tip of his tongue as he struggles to find the right words, brain buffering from the sudden new input of information, resulting in information overload as the new and existing information fail to fuse together.
“Where did you think I was leaving for? Some other prefecture for work?”
It takes a whole lot of effort to come up with a complete sentence. “Then why don’t you know when you will be coming back?”
“Because the train tickets back for the week are all sold out. So it depends on when my parents want to drive me back, I guess.”
You drag the babbling mess towards the konbini up ahead like a stone statue that looks like it’s stuck in a daze, caught in a trance.
“I’ll be starting work here in a month’s time. It’s not that far by metro, so I’ll still be renting my place here.”
“Kindaichi you lil shit…”
“Hey, don’t blame him. The best wingman award goes to him! It’s all thanks to him that I get to hold your hand now.
He loses himself in the endless galaxy in your eyes once again, losing sense of gravity.
“And your heart.”
