Red White and Royal Blue - The MOVIE
I have some (spoiler free) opinions and I'm ready to talk.
Tumblr media
My thoughts on the Red White and Royal Blue movie starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry and Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz.
First and foremost, I think the cast did an amazing job. Taylor's Alex was the heart of the movie and Henry's Henry was absolutely the soul. Sarah Shahi?? Let's be honest, she's another reason we fell in love with the book! They filled the movie with emotionality that is what made us all fall in love with the book in the first place. I don't think there was one wrong casting here.
It made great cinematic choices, imo. I loved the way they did the phone calls, and the lake scene - Nicholas gets a 15/5 for that scene.
I am going to try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, that being said. As an adaptation I give it a 3/5. HOWEVER, as a standalone movie it's easily a 4-4.4/5. Maybe even a 5/5 depending on enjoyability. This is not a flaw, it just is what it is.
Big changes: No June - sorry y'all, but that's what happens often in adaptations, especially ones that don't HAVE HP budgets. It's going to be very rare to get those kind of adaptations. No Congressman Luna. We have another bad guy with different motives. But that's all I can really talk about without spoilers.
Now, had this been able to be adapted to a limited series, it would have been a much better adaptation - look at Heartstopper.
All of that being said, I don't really care to hear anyone complain that it's silly, or unrealistic, cheesy or any kind of negativity that you wouldn't give a straight comparable movie.
Queer folk are allowed to have a silly romcom, or a romcom without trauma porn. Queer folk are allowed to take up all the room at the table if they so choose. Audrey Plaza would have had justification if this was her story and that's the kind of content I want. (If you know you know).
Queer people deserve to have a million movies where they get their happy ever after without the trauma of existence. The fact that so many people (usually those who aren't LGBTQ+) want queer media that is full of trauma p*rn and y'all that's real fucking weird.
Queer people deserve movies and shows where they have wonderful supportive parents who love them and only want what's best for them, and yes talks to them about needing the HPV vaccines and PrEP. Queer people deserve media where they get to do all the things that opposite sex couples get to do without it being taboo - sex in a supply room, stolen kisses in front of Alexander Hamilton, slow dancing in a closed museum, words and affirmations for their eyes and ears only.
So, this went on way too long, but enjoy it for what it is. And what i is is two young men falling in love, hooking up whenever they can, and existing in this world that so often doesn't want queer folk existing at all.
Excuse me while I go watch it a third time. kthxbyyeeee
(Also, the movie was dedicated to Taylor's sister, Kristy, who unfortunately passed away from a courageous battle with stage IV cancer a few months ago. Taylor said in an interview that she was looking for to it and let's all send him some love. Especially given that they are on strike and he's not able to share this with the world as much.)

A Breakdown Of Wiki's 'List of Transgender People'
What Trans Person hasn't searched for Famous Trans People at some point? Who hasn't seen the Wiki Page exactly for that? Who hasn't realized it's laughable? Well in a bid of fixation, boredom, displeasure, access to excel and a bid to use my very fancy degree for something here is three hours of work put into some very funny (or depressing) things you can conclude from the Wiki-
According to this wiki page- - There are 452 Notable Trans People. - Over 60% of Trans people represented are from countries in which English is the primary language. - At 222 people of 452 Americans make up 49% of Trans people. - Their are 88 Trans people who use He as one of their pronouns who are notable- 19.46%. - The first Notable Known Trans person was born in 203BCE, another person was not noted until 1394. - A majority of notable Trans people are known due to working in creative fields, or for being the first Trans person in their field. This is closely followed by being known for activism. Now I think all who are reading this know these numbers cannot be right, and have been skewed by who contributes to wiki and why trans people might get a wiki page. Thankfully this is an issue we can fix. You can edit and correct wiki pages. You can make new pages. We can speak about those not mentioned by wiki ourselves, tell the stories of those who inspire you, of the uncle, the aunt, the ancestor. Most of us don't have people to tell us the history of us, and I want to make sure those who come after me have something better then incomplete lists made by bias sources to look up to.

🏳️‍🌈 Celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month: A Journey of Resilience and Triumph 🏳️‍🌈
October is here, and it's time to honour LGBTQ+ History Month! ️‍🌈 Let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible journey of resilience and triumph that the LGBTQ+ community has experienced throughout history. 🌈
🌟 Origins of LGBTQ+ History Month:
Did you know that LGBTQ+ History Month was inspired by National Coming Out Day? 🌈 In 1994, it became an entire month dedicated to recognising LGBTQ+ history and contributions. October is the official LGBTQ+ History Month in the US, and February is celebrated in the UK. 📅
🌈 Key Milestones in LGBTQ+ History:
From the historic Stonewall Riots in 1969 to the fight for marriage equality in 2015, LGBTQ+ history is filled with moments of courage and progress. 🌟 Let's remember and honour these milestones in our ongoing journey towards equality and acceptance. 🌍
❤️ The Importance of LGBTQ+ History Month:
Why does LGBTQ+ History Month matter? It's a chance to educate, increase visibility, and inspire advocacy. 📚 Let's foster understanding, dispel stereotypes, and continue the fight for equal rights and acceptance. 🤝
🔮 Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future:
As we celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month, let's honour those who paved the way for progress and recommit ourselves to creating a more inclusive and equitable future for all. 🌈✨

-damn this episode is going right for the feelings
-also the more it progresses the more explicitly gay the show get's with it's side characters...right??
-this is so tragically beautiful
-aight not so tragically beautiful now stop killing your gays please :'<
-yeah boy he know's what you mean (what is the song in the background of them in this scene??)
-dome's lil focused face, god they're both clueless good luck to them <3
-even if they don't outright come out and say that this was a gay love story, this show is one for the history books, but it would even slap more if this was an outright lqbtq story with the same plot...like i need producers from here on out to understand that, have shows like this but that are explicitly gay...would it really have subtracted from the overall success if they had gone there??
-'think about the person you are longing for'...i just need y'all to know i am ben affleck with a cigarette at all times watching this show

Feature artist Friday!!
Hi guys! As an art student who spends a lot of my free time looking for interesting contemporary artists to study, I thought I could create a little series on some minority artists whose work I personally find absolutely amazing, to hopefully share their art with a wider range of people, since appreciating indie/contemporary minority artists is something that is extremely important and not particularly accessible to the general public.
This is especially important to me as a minority (lqbtq+, disabled/chronically ill, afab, neurodiverse) artist myself. My goal in making these artists and their work more accessible to everyone may include explaining things that many people already know, including art terminology that many artist will be familiar with but not the general public, and explaining the artists minority backgrounds in detail as I feel as though a major step in minority inclusion stems from wider-spread understanding. I am white British and obviously not a member of every minority that I will be covering so if I get things wrong, especially in regards to ethnicity, please feel free to correct me and edits will be made to the post.
Our first artist is, drumroll please…
CRYSTAL WORL
Tumblr media
Tw//Animal skin
We’re focusing on Alaska and its native populations today with Crystal Kaakeeyáa Rose Demientieff Worl (She/her), who is an absolutely amazing multimedia, multidisciplinary artist. She also shares part of her name (Rose) with me! (this isn’t important I just find it cool).
She is Deg Hit’an Athabascan from Fairbanks Alaska and Tlingit from Raven moiety, Sockeye Clan, from the Raven House, (Groups of native Alaskan people) as well as Filipino (People from the Philippines).
-Check out Crystal’s page on the First Peoples Fund here and find out ways to give here
-Find out more about Athabascan people here and here (wikipedia page here)
-Find out more about Deg Xinag, the extremely (like very extremely omg) endangered native language of the Deg Hit’an people here and here (wikipedia page here)
-Find out more about Tlingit people here (wikipedia page here)
-Find out more about Philippine history here (wikipedia page here)
Her work centres strongly on her ethnic background, as she recreates and modernises her clan's stories, as well as focusing on relationships and bonds between her people, the land, and the animals. One of her aims is to  bring attention to Indigenous issues relevant to Alaska, such as protecting the environment and wildlife in Alaska.
Now this woman is absolutely amazing. I have never seen anyone who employs such a range of multimedia (different types of art) techniques the way she does. She does things like graphic design (a type of art that’s about communicating things and transmitting messages), printmaking (which is- like stamping designs you make from  a rubber stamp to something like fabric or wood) , and painting. Those are pretty common forms of visual art, but that's not all she does! She also does less typical forms of art! Beading (art created using beads), stuff in fashion design and also traditional skin sewing (which is all about sewing animal skins into clothing (source)) She also makes jewellery and does some awesome things with glass.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She’s painted some pretty weird (and massive) things, like a basketball court in Sitka (a part of Alaska), a mural that’s 125 feet by 48 feet in Anchorage (Alaska's largest city) and some resin panels which were installed as guard rails in the newly renovated Juneau (Alaska’s capital city) International Airport. Some other strange and cool things she's designed art for include an ambulance, and an entire plane!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also has some art that you can use as your Google Chrome background!
Tumblr media
Here is a link to her website, and you can shop her work here. You can learn more about and find out ways to donate/support Alaskan native people here.

What has DeSantis done for Florida?
He banned books that promote multiculturalism, history, and diversity.
He made the state open carry making it easier for mass killers to be successful.
He made society untenable for migrants causing a mass exodus, damaging construction, farming, and other jobs that rely on immigrants.
He made sure teachers can be arrested for teaching the truth causing a critical educator shortage to worsen.
He battles Disney causing the state’s largest employer to cancel new projects.
He put a 6 week ban on abortion making Forced Birth the law from Panhandle to the Keys.
He made sure parents of Trans Kids can lose custody.
He cruelly promotes bigotry against LQBTQ+ Kids likely increasing suicide rates.
He rejected AP African American Studies further whitewashing history, and discriminating against Black Citizens.

next day after RS:
fandom has surprisingly fast forgotten that HS throw them under the bus and is back to their defending the baby tasks and/or turning it into the poor closeted man needs our support
PR machinery is rolling now in full swing and trying to turn it into: It is so great that HS is playing genderfluidity, no need to discuss queerbaiting and maybe he is the real King of Pop? Let us praise him. All critizism is wrong.
HS himself is probably taking some courses in gay movie history.
Will they manage to turn the interview and discussion into marketing for MP and him and on top for DWD? Will the LQBTQ community forget what he said? Will he profit from the related name recognition in GP and will become even more famous and loved and not allowed for critics?

Not having very many queer elders is like. Really bad for the community. I do not think I can overstate how bad it is for our community. And it's not our fault they're largely gone, but it is our fault if we choose not to reach out to and engage with our remaining elders. They can offer valuable advice, insight, and comfort, and we owe it to them to care for them in their twilight years and to learn from them anyways. Otherwise our community will tear itself apart. Go to gay bars and talk to the older patrons, volunteer at nursing homes and keep an open mind and open ear, join an LGBTQ book group or Warhammer club or whatever, listen to older members of our community who are public figures (and engage with them respectfully and critically), hell, just read a few memoirs. We've gotten very echo chambery and exclusionary and undone decades of hard-won progress, and I promise the way out is to engage with the elders.

How Wolfstar doesn't work
This is for @moonlightdancer26 and any other anti-Wolfstar.
Oh, Wolfstar shippers. We know them. We hate them. They multiply like bacteria. I will now show you how Wolfstar doesn't work.
First off, Marauder's time at Hogwarts take place during the 1970s. During the 1970s, Lesbians and Gays were suppressed and all of the LGBTQ+ stuff was happening in America during this time period, which includes the first male-male kiss on screen and when Randy Rohl asked Grady Quinn to Prom, the first male-male prom date. There was also the first LGBTQ+ tv show, first LGBTQ+ movie, a 3-hour special on WNET/channel 13, and it was before the whole AIDS thingy when people were very, like, "NO LGBTQ+!!!!" Now it's time to talk about the stuff happening in Britain during the 1970s. The Gay Liberation Front (GLF) was founded, the first issue of the Sappho magazine, a magazine was created to educate people on lesbianism, Gay News becomes the first gay newspaper, the first UK pride march, and there was a trial for blasphemy against Gay News. SO Britain was also kind of against the LGBTQ+ community. But this isn't a history report on LGBTQ+ (that might be saved for a different post on my random blog...). In short, people were against the LGBTQ+ community, so not many people wouldn't want to be suppressed and would stay closeted.
Second, REMUS IS FUCKING CANICALLY STRAIGHT. He married Nymphadora!
Third, the ship is kinda depressing. Think about it: once a month, Sirius would have to go through his partner having to turn into a monster that not even Remus himself could control. Plus Sirius' death.
Now, what did I learn from this? I probably know more about LGBTQ+ history than a lot of people.

"Dare you speak openly like that? Where is your penitence, your shame? Have you no sense of the horror of your sin?”
“There is no sin for which I should feel shame,” He answered very quietly. “God gave me my love for him, and He gave him also his love for me. Who is there that shall withstand God and the love that is His gift?”
“Dare you profane the name by calling such a passion as this ‘love’?”
“It was love, perfect love: it is perfect love."
