HOLY SH*T!

Okay, waaaaay late reaction, because I was too busy trying to process what the F*CK just happened, because HOLY SH*T!

HOLY F*CKING SH*T!

Look.

I'm gonna say it.

I am.

Season 3 is still my favorite. Void!Stiles is still my favorite villain, and all of the whump and hurt/comfort that Season 3 had as a result of that was amazing. Plus, most of my favorite Sciles moments are in Season 3.

HOWEVER.

Season 4 100% has the BEST writing and storytelling that Teen Wolf has had as of yet.

Like, obviously, there are two more seasons after this, and I still have two episodes to finish out this season, but given everything that I've seen so far....NONE of the writing up to this point can compare to this. Absolutely none of it.

I mean, the PUZZLE PIECES here. The THOUGHT that went into this. The twists and the secrets and the reveals and the THEMES...

If Season 3 wasn't as Sciles heavy as it was, Season 4 would 100% be my favorite.

Sorry not sorry.

And maybe I'll take that back when I finish out the season, because maybe I'll be disappointed by the ending, but given how well they've been doing so far...I doubt that.

I mean, in this episode alone, we get...

The amazingness that is Derek's speech. "Then let's send a message. Let's make something perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list. It doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters, or an amateur who just picked up a gun. Anyone who thinks they can hunt and kill us for money, is gonna be put on another list. Our list. They get to be a name on our deadpool." (I cheated and copied that from the transcript, but it was too good not to.)

The reveal that Meredith was behind this under Peter's indirect orders, followed by the still present confusion over who is really manipulating who between the two of them. (My vote goes to Peter, by the way, because he is obviously WAY more complacent in this than he is letting on.)

The immense trust that all of these characters have in each other as they all do their parts to try to stop this--Noah and Parrish trusting Lydia and letting Peter go, everyone on the deadpool trusting Scott and company to protect them, Meredith trusting Lydia to do the right thing despite everything her brain is telling her, Stiles trusting Malia's instincts in the lake house room, and Stiles trusting Lydia when it came to the floor and the wine--and how all of that allows them to keep each other safe and finally stop the deadpool, HOPEFULLY once and for all. (But there are two more episodes, so who the f*ck knows at this point.)

The puzzle pieces and discoveries of all of the effort that had to go into making this deadpool--Peter manipulating Meredith, the automatic payments from behind the lake wall, the not-really-wine stain (or rather, lack thereof), the slew of hunters and assassins that were being sent out, and the not-yet-fully-figured-out partnership between Kate and Peter. (I mean, seriously. I've gotten really good at predicting this show in a lot of ways, and although I was definitely still suspicious of Peter, there is NO way I could've seen ALL of THAT coming.)

And then honestly, probably my personal favorite, the persistent reminder that being a monster doesn't mean you have to act like a monster, and that although so many of them are "violent creatures", who constantly fear that their natures will take over, it's their love and kindness and loyalty and protectiveness and trust and hearts that will keep them from ever fully crossing that line. (Though, I will say, Scott was scaring me QUITE a bit, and I'm soooo glad Stiles, Malia, and Lydia managed to stop the deadpool so that the cell phone ringing could snap him out of it, 'cause that was a LITTLE too close...).

And on top of ALL of that, we still get all of our amazing relationships--familial, romantic, platonic, and everything in between--and some amazing character growth and character moments that just make the season even better than it already is.

I mean, seriously, what more could you want??

And now, I'm gonna stop typing there, because I am honestly just soooo eager to keep going, and I REALLY need to make sure Peter doesn't kill Scott (which I think will be easy to avoid, because he has a whole pack to protect him gosh darnat--also f*ck you, Peter), and honestly, I just 100% need to see how this ends.

Soooo many good things in that episode (so many good things in this SEASON!!!), but this is the gif we're going with, because YES!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Teen Wolf Tier List

a03 is down, why not spend this time explaining my Feelings about Teen Wolf characters in a different format. <3

This is basically a love letter to all my favorite characters. Which is uh, well you'll see. 🥰🥰

So many thoughts behind the cut!

Category One: VERY FAVORITE

It's what it says on the tin. My very favorite characters. Spoiler alert: I am Bad At Favorites.

Lydia Martin I fell in love with her the instant she was good at bowling. Perfect even. And then the "sucking for his pleasure line," and then, and THEN we get her arc in s2? She's alone, and a little brittle and I have so many theories I've rambled about a million times regarding her childhood and how her powers have manifested before. I could write an entire tumblr post just about Lydia and my thoughts. I love her so much.

Malia Tate

I knew I was going to ADORE her the instant she punched Stiles for turning her back to human. I'm only sad we didn't get to see her initial reunion with Scott. I do firmly believe she throws Scott around in bed while they're together. I love how "yeah i don't really care about your social norms" she is about everything. And how she learns!! And then how much she loves Kylie. She leaves the safety of her den to get Kylie's doll back!!! I love her.

Scott McCall

I liked him at first. I definitely enjoyed seeing him hurt. I always gravitate to the prettiest men with blood on their face in any given fandom. And in Teen Wolf, that is definitely Scott. And then by about my third rewatch I was even more in love with his character, his willpower, persistence, stubbornness, empathy, and leadership. Many of you know Fury is my favorite episode and I love Scott in it so much. I love him.

Mason Hewitt

I was in love with Mason IMMEDIATELY. He was just so clearly such a good friend to Liam. And his smile. And then he helps Scott at the bonfire with no questions asked. And then he helps Lydia. That boy with ZERO spn powers helps Lydia charge berserkers. And then he is so excited for Liam to be a werewolf. And in the inner circle. And then he's the Beast! And he's with Corey! And he helps in s6. I love Mason. Love, love, love. <3

Kira Yukimura

Literal ray of sunshine. Awkward, nerdy, new girl! bad ass, katana-wielding kitsune. I was in love with her from the first interaction with her dad. And then she has fun with Scott at the sheriff's station! And then she learns what Scott is and is the first person to be tender and gentle about it? Ahhh. And then she has angst and the way were *robbed* of a s6 Kira arc. Still mad. Forever mad. But I ADORE Kira so much. She's amazing and I love her.

Vernon Boyd

Loved him when he wouldn't let Stiles pull one over on him with the money. Loved him when he wanted to be like Scott. Loved him when cared sooo much about Erica. Love the angst with Alicia and hate how little we get. He went and worked at an ice rink!!! I just. He's caring and kind and compassionate and observant and quiet and I love him for it.

Melissa McCall

!! The way she is trying so hard. And the way the world is just conspiring against her. She clearly loves Scott so much. I loved their s1 and s2 scenes sooo much. I really wish we'd gotten more of those little intimate mother/son moments later in the series. But I also love how she's still human. Is just trying her best. She's amazing.

Satomi Ito

I love her. She's a badass. And friends with Deaton. And I love how she interacts with Noshiko. And she has so much anger but she does eventually learn one way of expressing it. And Iove that she cares so much for her pack. Love love love love so much love. I watch all of like four Satomi parts soo closely every time.

Ken Yukimura

"Here's all that research you did for that boy you like." What is not to love, though? He's a history nerd! Married to a 900-year-old kitsune! And he loves his daughter so much. He's a good cook! He's so cool. Maybe Ken is what I want to be when I grow up. Even if I am technically older.

Alan Deaton

!! He's so great. While I can see an argument for him withholding information in the first two seasons- I feel like it makes total sense why he does. For so long, this supernatural part of his life has been on the back burner. Since the Hale fire, which he couldn't stop, and then suddenly it's back.

And by s2 he's actively helping Scott figure things out. He's teaching him and Isaac to take pain. Something it never dawned on Peter or Derek they'd like to know. In s3 he saves Stiles, in s6 he faces the fear of the anuk-ite with more grace than anyone. I love. Love always.

Noshiko Yukimura

I adore her so much. I loved younger Noshiko and I love how she's clearly matured since those events. She's also sooo hot. And so badass. And has STELLAR taste in men. So much love for Noshiko forever. <3

Braeden

She shows up on a motorcycle, rescues Isaac, almost dies, FACES DOWN A PACK OF ALPHAS and survives it! And all while looking So Good. I love how she deals with Scott and Derek. I love that she worked for Deucalion after he slashed her throat open.

(quick note if you are tired of me talking about how much i love these characters, this is not the post for you, it doesn't change much)

Erica Reyes

Complete stubborn af BADASS of my dreams. I loved her when she was epileptic and still trying to climb up that rope. I loved her when she showed up and slammed Scott into a locker. I adored her when she hit on Allison. I love how she was so fierce and protective of Boyd and how she terrified Derek. I love her.

Hayden Romero

The way she looks at Liam in her intro. She is going to *destroy* this boy, that she has a crush on, so hard. She's also stubborn and strong-willed, and responsible. She's working so hard to help her sister, who she loves with her entire heart. She's great, and I love her.

Danny Mahealani

Everyone loves Danny! As they should. <3 He has terrible taste in men (relatable tho), and he loves to look disrespectfully (also relatable). I love his interaction with Stiles and Derek in s1 as well as his friendship with Jackson. I love that he's the one doing research on the ley lines! I hate how he disappears after 3b. I wanted more with knowledgable about supernatural Danny.

Meredith Walker

Meredith can leave Eichen any time she wants. She does. She generally stays there: to protect everyone else from herself. Meredith is what Lydia looks like when we don't see her perspective and I think about that soo much. I also love her and Lydia's interaction: "Not all monsters do monstrous things." My heart.

Category Two: VERY FAVORITE ALSO but fandom tries to ruin them for me

I love these characters so much, but the way fandom tries to make them into shells of their actual selves. Or just make everything about them always. There are so many great characters in this fandom!! It's an ensemble show with fantastic characters and actors!! So to be clear: I love the canon versions of these characters.

Stiles Stilinski

-would fall directly under Kira in favorites category.

I fucking love this dude. He's sarcastic and rough around the edges, and awkward. His fingers are impossibly long. He's just the right side of morally gray. And terrified he's going to fall too far the other direction. He's a little broken inside from the way his mother died and is codependent with Scott. Love love love him.

Peter Hale

-Would fall right after Araya in the villain category

I love him. He is ruthless. Selfish. Tits out. He's funny. I love how he's so obsessed with Scott. He spends a whole season working with Kate because of it. Kate who he kills in s1. Iconic villainy. Tbh, he's one of the villains I wish they'd leaned away from the redemption arc on. But I still like his commitment to family (in his mind). And the bravery it takes to step through that fire in s6 knowing exactly how it feels is damn impressive.

Derek Hale

-would fall after Isaac in love them so much category

He's super hot. Like all kinds of hot. Broody. He's such a mess that first season especially. His entire family was lost, he's been gone six years. He comes back and his sister dies first thing. Why he's a broody mess makes sense. And then, for a change, he can save his family! He saves Cora. It sucks to be at the expense of Erica and Boyd. But I feel like he makes his peace with things as best he can.

Young Derek Hale

Is just Derek only younger, really usnure why they are separate tbh.

Chris Argent

-would fall after Derek in love them so much category

Of all the villains, he has the most convincing redemption arc. Possibly because he's just around more on-screen tbh. And he loses so much. By the end of the series Chris has lost everything. And he's such a mess about it. Also he's so stupidly hot.

Noah Stilinski

-would fall after Melissa in favorites category

I love him. He's another single parent trying his best. He clearly cares deeply about Stiles, even though he's often out of his depth. I love the bit where he's watching the kids just run Rafael in circles in 3b. The look on his face is so clearly: "it's about time you had to deal with their nonsense."

Jackson Whittemore

-would fall after Chris in love them so much category

He's such an asshole, and I adore him for it. He's so mean. He's terrible for Lydia (and her for him) but I love that they end up friends. I love Jackson's relationship with Allison especially, and it haunts me who had to call him and explain what happened to her. I love his s2 arc because a "be careful what you wish for" arc always gets me.

Claudia Stilinski

-would be first in neutral category

Only because we just know so little about her. I enjoy my fanon interpretations, but that's all they are.

Very Favorite Villain Edition

Quite likely to be a controversial category. And my absolute favorite. I love OTT villains and does Teen Wolf provide me so well <3

Deucalion

I mean. If you're here. Chances are really high you have some idea how I feel about everyone's favorite British Drama Queen of a Demon Wolf. He calls himself Destroyer of Worlds. Alpha of Alphas. He's a hot fucking mess too. His corruption arc implies less megalomania, and yet.... and his redemption arc is... shaky, but I'm into that. He's not all that redeemed, and the look of pure glee on his face when he's about to beat Scott in 6b supports that. I love how obsessed he is with Scott, too. It's this delusional obsession and gyahh, I am here for it. He does help Scott in 5b, but I contend he did it for a price. <3

Kate

I stan a hot, evil woman always. You will uh, see that theme repeated on this list. And she's pretty unapologetically evil. Though you have to wonder ofc, how much Gerard shaped that. And she does have that little redemption saving Allison in s1. And really does clearly care for her. She's fun! And hot! And creepy and I am here for it.

Violet

Speaking of really hot, evil women. Hello! And she's reckless too? My heart can't even take that kind of thing. And she strangles Scott. The fact that we never got nagaul! Violet is criminal. To me. Personally.

Araya Calavera

Evil Mexican grandma shoots a person. In the street. In broad daylight. If that isn't badass af, I don't know what is. I also really love her interactions with Chris. She's fabulous.

Tamora Monroe

Once again pointing out the hot, evil woman theme. Though I think she's more nuanced than some of the others. She's one of the villains who deserved a redemption arc the most. She's also such a good leader and organizer. She's a good counselor and listener. Love her.

Jennifer Blake

Hot. Evil. Women. It's a whole thing okay. And while I will admit to being one HELL of a Deucalion stan, Jennifer deserved the redemption arc so much more. Her reasons for evil are far more valid. She wants to destroy the people who destroyed her and who wreak devastation in their wake. And get revenge on her ex. Valid of her.

Kali

Speaking of said ex. And hot. And evil. I wish we'd gotten more Kali. I think she feels more remorse than she wants to admit. I love, love, love the way she interacts with Deucalion. I accept "Deuc" from her only. And probably him too.

Ennis

He isn't on here, I'm more neutral on him. But because we get next to nothing about him. Very sad. I bet he's fun. Kali joins the alpha pack for him. Gotta be a reason.

Victoria Argent

Are you prepared to hear me go on about hot, evil women again? AND she bakes cookies. I love when she calls Stiles "the odd one". And she so clearly cares about Chris and Allison. It's utterly devastating when Allison blows her off right before her death. Love.

Void/The Nogitsune

He's just hungry. I love the potential of the nogitsune. And the angst it brings to Noshiko and Stiles especially. I am v excited to see where the movie takes this. But really, he's just hungry. That's not evil. As a favorite bounty hunter once said: "A girl's gotta eat."

Corinne

I think half the reason I fell in love with the show was all the hot, evil women. Jeff may be a gay man but he and I clearly have the same taste in women. I wish we knew more about Corinne to be honest, but I love her relationship with Braeden and am forever wondering about her relationships with Talia and Peter.

Matt Daehler

If he were a woman, he'd be higher. As it is, he's a creepy stalker dude and a lot of fun. I like when he shoots Scott, uh, a lot. I think there is definitely so much more room for exploring his relationship with Jackson. And he was a kid. That deserved redemption every bit as much as anyone else. Maybe more. He was a kid. His death is tragic af.

Gerard Argent

Evil manipulative cockroach. He's fun and serves his purpose.

Category Four: LOVE THEM SO MUCH

aka: Very Favorite Part 2

Allison Argent

She's so great! I love her dark arc. I love her struggle to figure out who she is and her friendships with Lydia and Scott and Isaac and Stiles. I love how she tried so many hobbies and her conflict with her family, internal and external. I hate/love her death. I love her.

Isaac Lahey

He's so tall. And sarcastic. And he's not witty, and he's just a little mean. I love how he still wants to trust people, even after everything he goes through with his dad and then Derek. I love his relationships with Allison, Scott and Chris and Erica and Boyd. A lot like Chris, Isaac loses soo much.

Marin Morell

She's so interesting! I want to know about her life pre-canon so BAD. I feel like it's implied that she's Deucalion's emissary pre-corruption. Why does she stay? How does she feel about it? Why was she with him in the first place? How have her hands gotten dirty before? I have so many questions and theories, but I'd love to know more.

Cora Hale

!! She's a badass. She's basically girl-Derek, so what's not to love there? Broody, broken, angry. I love her back and forth with Lydia and Stiles so much.

Coach Bobby Finstock

What's not to love? This man is the living incarnation of Hot Chaotic Mess and I know I'm always in for a good time.

Mrs. Finch

What is her first name? I love her though her storyline vexes me. I know that it's probably just retconning, but the way I like to consider explanations for *why* she's head in the sand about being an alpha werewolf. Oh! I wonder if I will see parallels to that attitude in movie!Scott. Ohh. I'm gonna have Feelings. I love that she believes in Scott in AP Bio, when even some of his friends do not. I think about her fear a lot when Liam is beaten in science class. She knows he'll heal, ofc, but I think about her a lot for a minor character.

Brett and Lori Talbot

Beloved Satomi pack frens. Brett is a tall drink of water and Mason has rights. Like man. That eight-pack. And Lori is a bad ass. And she tries to help Kira. I enjoy them a lot!

Sydney

She wants to do well on her test. She's sick and still needs to take it! She gives Scott the picture of him, Lydia, Stiles and Malia. My heartttt. She's great and I love her. I have a lot of thoughts about her being friends with Brett and Lori.

Jordan Parrish

He's a cinnamon roll but on fire. Instant love. Plus he's half-naked A LOT, and I'm not mad about it.

Natalie Martin

She's trying in her way. I really think in her mind, Natalie is doing whatever she needs to do to prevent Lydia from becoming Lorraine. She wants to do the right thing, but isn't so good at seeing what that is.

Tracy Stewart

She's a badass. Hot and almost evil. And she has a tail. Only wins here.

Aiden and Ethan Steiner

They're fun. I like Ethan slightly better. Aiden is a subby straight boy though, and that's hard not to love.

Valerie Clark

Hayden's hot, badass deputy sister. Love her. I head canon she comes back to Beacon Hills to be the sheriff. <3

Liam Dunbar

Cute angry little shrimp and Mason loves him, so I do. <3

Corey Bryant

Love him with Mason so much. Think about him and being invisible. I wish we got more with him but I enjoy what we have.

Talia Hale

Endlessly fascinating. Mostly questions. I love that she's a dramatic! Bitch. Her intro is Superb. You can see the family resemblance. She's def Peter's sister.

Theo Raeken

I struggled with Theo. I love him as a villain and have begun to appreciate his more redeemed version. He's basically boy-Lydia, so of course, I adore him in that context. I just wasn't sure what category to put him in. So here he is. He's fun, and wow, is he just so compact. Talk about pleasing to look upon abs.

Category Five: neutral but i'm willing to be swayed to loving them more

this is a handful of characters in no particular order than im not super invested in. but people sometimes make very convincing arguments

Alec

We just don't anything about him.

Nolan Holloway

I think he's been through some shit and I love the scared child aspects of his character.

Paige Krasikeva

I don't hate what little we see. I just now learned she had a last name on the wiki.

Josh Diaz

He's cute, violent, and likes electricity.

Gabe

He gives Theo and Nolan nice character moments.

Garrett

He loves Violet.

Donovan Donati

He does what he's supposed to do as a peek at dark Stiles.

Adrian Harris

He exists to be disliked, and it works.

Rafael McCall

He exists to give Melissa and Scott character development.

Brunski

Boring serial killer dude. Other villains do it better. I do like when he ties up Stiles and Lydia.

Category Six: why is there a nazi werelion, no really

Douglass: Meh. Boring.

Never A Dull Moment

Pairing: Jordan Parrish x Reader

Summary: A semester abroad did not make you forget how quick chaos comes to Beacon Hills, but some things, like a new deputy for example, may make the crazy worth going through.

You sigh to yourself as you flick on the lights in your apartment and drop your suitcases by the door. You loved your experience abroad but there's nothing quite as satisfying as coming home to sleep in your own bed, especially knowing you're officially done with school. Finishing your final college semester abroad was so brilliant of you. You only make it as far as your couch when you hear your bedroom door being swung open with an unnecessary amount of force and on reflex you grab one of the weapons stashed in your apartment and fling it down the hall before even seeing who is there. You gasp when your eyes register a familiar head of dark hair narrowly dodging your dagger.

"Fucking christ Stilinski what's wrong with you?!" You hiss at him.

"I missed you! I heard you'd be back today so-"

"So you broke into my apartment to wait for me?!"

"I didn't break anything I have a key." He shrugs.

"We live in Beacon Hills Stiles you can't come into people's homes unannounced I almost took your head off!" You scoff wrapping your arms around him in a hug.

"Yeah but you didn't so it's fine." He says.

"You need a lesson in appropriate responses to danger I swear." You shake your head.

"With you and Scott around I think I'm good." Stiles says.

"That's not- whatever. Since you're here you can tell me some of the things I missed that I know you all kept from me because I was in another country."

"We- didn't keep anything from you. Beacon Hills has been dreadfully boring without you. It's all Lydia talked about."

"I know you can lie better than that but I guess I'm glad you suck at lying to me. Spill it Stiles, it'll be much better for you to tell me now before I have to force those memories from you." You say.

"Can you even do that?" He frowns.

"Do you want to risk finding out?"

"Dead pool."

"What?"

"There was a teeny tiny thing we had to deal with called a dead pool." He shrugs.

"This teeny tiny thing wasn't teeny tiny at all was it?"

"I mean- relatively it wasn't so ba- no it wasn't teeny tiny at all. I thought everyone was gonna die and now Malia won't talk to me."

"Okay; explain to me what the 'dead pool' was and then we can circle back to the Malia thing?"

"A- list was going around with a bounty on the heads of every supernatural creature in Beacon Hills so we essentially had to deal with a whole bunch of assassins because Peter accidentally recruited Meredith to enact his psycho revenge plan from after the fire that killed the Hale family and-"

"Woah. Meredith from Eichen?!" You blink at him.

"Yes. That's a whole subcategory of craziness that we can go over in detail later but the moral of the story is we lived and we only didn't tell you because there wasn't much you could do in Monte Carlo-"

"I was in Italy."

"Same difference, it's all Europe regardless of where you couldn't help and well there's no reason to stress you out with that feeling of hopelessness when you're supposed to be study abroading. We swore we wouldn't ruin your last semester for you. Actually, the adults made us."

"Your dad and mama Scott made you promise not to bug me with Beacon Hills problems?" You ask.

"Yes. So, I took notes of everything that happened since you left. You can read them at your leisure. Oh but speaking of my dad, this can't wait, there's a new supernatural you should know about."

"I like to think that I'm pretty good at deciphering all that is Stiles Stilinski but I'm failing to see what the connection is between your dad and a new supernatural. Unless you're saying your dad is now one?"

"No, but he hired a new deputy." Stiles says.

"Give me- one more building block so I can piece this together." You ask.

"The new deputy is the supernatural creature you need to know about."

"Oh! Okay. What is he?"

"We- have some theories." Stiles says.

"What are they?"

"I thought phoenix! Lydia thinks that's dumb." He shrugs.

"Explain to me how you got to phoenix."

"Well he was on the dead pool, which is how we found out he was supernatural at all but he has no idea what he is, he actually hardly knows what any of this is- he thinks Lydia's a psychic- but another cop tried to burn him alive and it didn't work."

"When you say it didn't work-"

"He came out unscathed. Not in the werewolf super healing way where he was burned and healed, I mean he just came right back to the station covered in ash, unharmed. So, phoenix."

"I see how you came to that conclusion but I don't think phoenixes take the form of just- some guy." You say.

"You got any other ideas?"

"Well, gimme like 37 hours with my bestiary and I probably will."

"You have a bestiary?! Since when!?" He gasps.

"Side quest while I was abroad." You wink.

"You side quested a bestiary?"

"You can get anything if you know the right people. And I figured it'd come in handy living in Beacon Hills." You shrug.

"Well hang on let me call-"

"No. Stiles I've been traveling for 13 hours. You're not calling anyone. We can touch on the Malia thing briefly but, I need to sleep and you need to leave so we can't be here all night."

"But you just got home."

"Exactly. Visiting hours are over until tomorrow. I need to sleep for 17 hours."

"17 hours?"

"Yes! At least! But I said we could discuss the Malia thing so why isn't she talking to you?" You ask.

"She found out about Peter." He sighs.

"She found out that Peter's her dad!?"

"Yes."

"How!?"

"She found the dead pool with her name on it in my jacket pocket when she was wearing it while almost dying because of a poison situation. The dead pool listed her as Malia Hale."

"So now she's mad at you for keeping it from her." You say.

"Yes." He nods.

"I- don't have the energy to unpack this right now so I will see you tomorrow but I'm sure things will work out. Give her time to process for now." You say.

"Fine. Tomorrow. Oh but read my notes on Parrish." Stiles says as he stumbles out of your apartment.

"Parrish?" You frown.

"The deputy. He's near the end of my notes but it's all the details I have on him. So you can figure out what he is."

"Goodbye." You sing-song, shutting the door on Stiles. You let out a sigh. Finally, peace and quiet. You take a shower and barely make it through your nighttime routine before you collapse in bed, relaxation seeping into your bones as you settle into the mattress and fall asleep.

It's not until noon that you roll out of bed the next day, mainly because you're hungry enough that it wakes you- seeing as you skipped dinner when you got home. After brushing your teeth and getting dressed you make yourself a late breakfast and get to work researching this deputy Parrish guy that Stiles told you about last night.

Flipping through your bestiary and comparing the lengthy notes Stiles left in your room, you're able to pinpoint the most likely categorization for Beacon Hills' newest deputy. You'd have to meet him to know for sure of course but you're pretty confident in your assessment. By the time you've drawn your conclusion, you realize it's almost 4 o'clock, which means you're expecting at least Stiles to crash your laid back afternoon, but seeing as you're just getting back you're almost sure he'll bring the whole crew along with him. Sure enough, not even ten minutes after you check the clock there's a rhythmic knock at your door and you can hear excited chatter before you even open it. Stiles is the first to come strolling through, b-lining it for your fridge because he's a teenage boy and if they're not thinking with the head between their legs, they're thinking with their stomach.

"Your fridge is so empty what the hell?" Stiles complains.

"I got back last night from living in another country for 3 months, I only have like nonperishables." You roll your eyes at Stiles as Liam wraps his arms around you. "Hey Liam." You pat his head gently.

"Welcome back y/n." Scott says.

"Yeah. Welcome back." Kira smiles.

"You aren't planning on leaving us again are you?" Malia asks.

"Not that I know of." You say.

"Good. We're much better with you around." She says and you smile. You know Malia struggles with expressing vulnerability so you always appreciate it when she tries.

"I'm better with you guys around too. Speaking of where's Lydia?" You ask.

"She- said she had something to do first but that she'd catch up." Stiles says.

"Alright, well I think your deputy friend is a creature known as a hellhound." You say.

"A what?!" His eyes widen.

"Deputy friend?" Malia frowns.

"Parrish." Stiles says.

"She's been home for less than 24 hours and you have her identifying the new supernaturals?" Scott looks at Stiles incredulously.

"Just Parrish! We were dead-ending I figured we could use the help." Stiles shrugs.

"IDing Parrish wasn't an emergency." Scott rolls his eyes.

"Buuuut now we've done it! One more thing off the to-do list."

"Well, hellhound's only a theory. I can only get so much from your notes." You clarify.

"How do we verify it then?" Stiles asks.

"Observation I guess? I dunno. Hellhounds aren't like werewolves or werecoyotes that react to wolfsbane. In fact, there are next to no known weaknesses to hellhounds." You say.

"Is a hellhound good or bad?" Malia asks.

"Neither. Technically. I guess the best place to put them would be chaotic neutral. If a hellhound isn't protecting the supernatural then they're usually only called to hunt something but seeing as this deputy guy doesn't seem to know what he is I'd guess there's a subconscious call to protect something or someone here in Beacon Hills. They are also considered harbingers of death, like Lydia but not predicting it like banshees do." You explain.

"So he's protecting something? That should be good right? He's not an enemy if he's protecting the supernatural." Liam says.

"Most likely. Like I said they don't fall on one side or the other of the moral scale. Their priorities are different. If you threaten the thing they're protecting or get in the way of the thing they're hunting they will kill you. So I guess whether or not you see them as good depends on your relation to the thing they're protecting or hunting." You shrug.

"But this is all a theory?" Kira asks.

"Well, not all the stuff about what a hellhound is. Just whether or not the deputy's one."

"You know what? Let's go to the station now! I'm sure he's working. You can meet him and assess on the fly." Stiles claps his hands together.

"How am I supposed to do that? The guy barely understands that he's something supernatural." You roll your eyes.

"I dunno but I'm sure you'll figure it out. You said you needed to observe." Stiles starts to rush everyone out of your apartment, pulling you towards the door when you don't move from where you're leaning against the kitchen counter.

"This is such an awful idea." You grumble as he tugs you along. Still, it's obvious he's not going to give this up so you grab your keys, your phone, and stuff your feet into your shoes.

"I'm sure my dad is dying to see you now that you're back in town anyway, what better excuse to drop in at work?" Stiles offers.

"I don't need an excuse to say hi to your father at work Stiles." You scoff- still, you're willing to go down if only to see him.

"I'm riding in y/n's car!" Liam announces. The six of you make your way to the station, Liam in your car while everyone else piled into Stiles's jeep.

"Stiles. What the hell did you do this time?" Stiles's father happens to walk by as soon as he enters and sighs.

"Why do you always assume I've done something?" Stiles retorts.

"He knows his son." You interject.

"Y/n? You're back! That explains why everyone's crowding the station." Sheriff Stilinski says.

"Yeah, everyone was at my place and Stiles decided we needed to come here right away." You explain.

"They didn't ditch school to see you did they?"

"No way. I've always prioritized their grades. They should know better." You say.

"Ah, that's why we love having you here." He hums.

"I hope we're not disrupting your day too bad sheriff?"

"I will always have time for you. Let's go into the office." He waves a hand.

"You're never like this when I come by." Stiles frowns as you all crowd into the sheriff's office.

"Because when you come here it's to raise my blood pressure." His dad rolls his eyes at him.

"I resent that."

"I could've sworn I told you not to stress your father out while I was abroad Stiles?" You look at him.

"Oh he's incapable of that kind of thing." His dad scoffs.

"Well hang on! I did my best while you were abroad, you're home now though so the deal is terminated. I did my job." Stiles states matter-of-factly.

"And this is why she gets the reaction she does. Welcome home! You've graduated, congrats! How was Italy? Think you'll move there?"

"No. I mean don't get me wrong, Italy was lovely but Beacon Hills is- like no other. I don't know that I could leave. At least not now, maybe in a decade or two when there are people who can take over what we do."

"Like finding apprentices!?" Stiles asks.

"No? We're not about to go looking for people to protect the balance between the supernatural and the nonsupernatural in Beacon Hills. I just have faith we'll find people willing and able to take on the job when the time comes." You shrug. "In the meanwhile, has it been a busy day sheriff?" You ask.

"It's Beacon Hills, the bar's kinda high." He shrugs.

"Is Parrish in today?" Stiles asks.

"Why?" Stilinski narrows his eyes at his son.

"Y/n thinks she's figured out what kind of creature he is." Malia says.

"I have a theory based on some notes Stiles left me." You correct.

"Stiles left you notes?"

"A whole journal of them. Everything I missed while I was abroad." You nod.

"I figured that would be more effective than trying to recount it all verbally from memory in one giant infodump." Stiles shrugs.

"So now you're looking for Parrish?" Sheriff Stilinski frowns.

"I'm not, please don't disturb your deputy. It's not that serious." You say.

"That's why we're here!" Stiles says.

"No no, I only came to say hi to your dad. Which I've done, so we can head out. After all, he's working and we're encroaching."

"Oh please, that's my dad there's no such thing." Stiles scoffs.

"Stiles." Stilinski groans.

"Riiiight let's go. The Parrish theory can be dealt with later." You grab Stiles and the others follow you. "See you around Sheriff!" You call over your shoulder as the group of you leaves. While most of the station is plenty familiar with you and barely acknowledged you and the teens marching through the station, one specific deputy had noticed you the minute you came through the door. Jordan's eyes follow you from his desk as you leave with your crowd of teenagers and Stilinski notices the way they flash orange as he watches you leave.

"Parrish!" Stilinski calls from his office. Jordan jumps as if he forgot he's at work, and with one last glance at you getting into your car while you yell something at Stiles he rushes into his boss's office.

"Sir?" Jordan prompts.

"Those reports you were supposed to be working on. Got a status report on those?"

"I'm almost through with the last one. Should be done by EOD." Jordan says, gaze drifting outside every few seconds even though your car is gone.

"Her name is y/n." Stilinski chuckles.

"What?" Jordan frowns.

"The young lady with my son and the others. Her name is y/n, in case you were wondering."

"Why would I-?" Jordan shakes your head.

"I watched your eyes follow her all the way out the door, and you've been glancing out the window through this entire conversation. You'll see her around a lot now that she's back in town so you should talk to her if you're interested."

"Is she not from around here?"

"Yes and no I'll leave the details for her to explain when you ask her but she's been around a while. Just graduated college." Stilinski says with a proud smile, bragging like you're his kid, which in some ways you might as well be.

"Give her my congrats." Jordan nods.

"Tell her yourself. Once you get those reports done."

Jordan takes that as his queue to leave and returns to his desk. The final report takes him longer than it should have as all he can think about is the melodic sound of your voice and the easy smile you couldn't seem to help while at the station. Maybe he'd take his boss's 'suggestion' and speak to you. If he should be lucky enough to see you again soon.

Luck, as you might have it, seemed to be on his side, as he did see you the next day while grocery shopping. He spots you as soon as he walks in, examining pomegranates intently. Jordan walks over to you before he can psych himself out, stopping at the pile of fruit next to the pomegranates, lemons, which he rarely uses but he picks one up anyway if only to justify being next to you.

"Careful Persephone. I heard you could get trapped in the underworld because of those." Jordan nods at the pomegranate in your hand. You startle slightly before giving a smile. The originality of the line gets you, even if being hit on in the produce section would normally just piss you off.

"Don't worry. I won't let Hades see." You quip back. He chuckles, glad the line didn't miss as hard as he thought it would.

"I'm Jordan. I think I saw you at the sheriff's station yesterday?"

"You're the new deputy, aren't you? Parrish right?"

"Well- now I feel at a disadvantage here you seem to know more about me than I know about you."

"Yeah I- just got back in town actually but the sheriff's son who seems to know everything has given me the 411 on everything I missed- including the new deputy. I- I'm y/n. It's nice to meet you. Puts a face to the name." You stick out your hand. Jordan shakes it, hoping his palms aren't sweaty enough to expose how keyed up you're making him.

"It's- nice to meet you too. And I think I've heard your name more than a few times. The kids seem to really idolize you. So- it's nice to put a face to your name as well, and quite a gorgeous one at that."

"Stiles's 411 didn't mention that you were such a flirt." You quirk an eyebrow up at him.

"I'm usually not." He chuckles like he's just as surprised by the line as you are.

"Would've never guessed, you're doing so well."

"I just wanted to introduce myself, John said I'd probably be seeing you around a lot so-"

"Stiles said the same." You hum.

"Why would Stiles say that?" Jordan frowns.

"I assume for the same reason John did- but the surprise in your voice makes me think you have no idea who I am and the Stilinskis are running independent missions." You muse.

"What does that mean?"

"Well I'm not sure what your boss told you but when it comes to the strange happenings of Beacon Hills that are on a need-to-know basis I'm one of those people that always needs to know. I might actually be the first to know quite often."

"When you say the strange happenings of Beacon Hills does that mean you know about the-?"

"Werewolves? Banshees? Dead pool? All of it, yes."

"You weren't even around for the dead pool." He points out.

"That's where Stiles comes in. My little informant."

"Then that means you know about me too?"

"Yeah. When I said Stiles gave me the 411 on the new deputy I mean he gave me all of the information. I might even have figured out what you are." You say.

"I guess I was even more right than I thought when I said it seems you know more about me than I know about you."

"Oh you have no idea." You hum.

"I think it's only fair we level the playing field a bit. Don't you?"

"And, how do you plan to do that?"

"By taking you to dinner, if you'll let me." He says. You can't help the shocked look you give him as his words hang in the air for a moment before you answer.

"Sure. You can pick me up at 7." You say with a smile. You take the grocery list he's holding and scribble your address and number on the back of it.

"Tonight?"

"Why wait?" You shrug.

"Okay. 7 o'clock." He nods.

"Don't be late." You say before walking off to finish your shopping. Jordan doesn't move until you disappear into an aisle. Only once he can't see you is he able to breathe. He can't believe how that conversation played out and now he's got five hours to prepare himself to have dinner with you.

You can't believe you agreed to have dinner with him. You replay the conversation at least a hundred times as you do your shopping, leave the store, drive home, unload your groceries, and then try to pass the time until it is reasonable to start getting ready for this impromptu date. Why did you decide it would be tonight?! He was more charming than you expected and in your effort to realign yourself, you've just set yourself up. As if five hours will give you enough time to be prepared to deal with him. Still, by 6:30 you pick out a cute dress and set about to do your preparations. Hair, makeup, external pep talk in front of your mirror. Check, check, and check just before there's a knock at your door that startles you. It's exactly 7. Punctual. You put on your shoes and grab your bag and then open the door for Jordan.

"Hi again." You smile.

"Hi." He says. "You look, amazing."

"Thank you. You look pretty good yourself." You say taking in his outfit. It's simple, a button-up and a pair of slacks, but they fit him well and he's folded the sleeves up to his elbows in a way that emphasizes his arms.

"Thanks." Jordan's cheeks tinge ever so slightly pink- it's almost unnoticeable but it makes you smile to know you can make him blush.

"Well, lead the way, deputy." You say stepping into the hall and locking your apartment. Jordan holds an arm out for you to loop yours through and leads you to his car. He opens your door for you and helps you in before sliding into the driver's seat. After about ten minutes you pull into the lot of a local Italian restaurant. You've been here a number of times but the food is good so you certainly won't complain. It's definitely a safe first date option. Jordan opens the door for you to get out of the car as well, and pulls out your chair when you're given a table in the restaurant. You appreciate the little acts of chivalry that he seems to do subconsciously.

"So, since we're 'leveling the playing field', ask me anything you want to know." You tell him once you've both ordered your food.

"Are you from Beacon Hills?" He asks.

"Nope, moved here for college." You say.

"You moved to Beacon Hills for college?"

"Well no, I moved to California for Beacon Hills, I moved to Beacon Hills at the behest of my mother really."

"The behest of your mother?" Jordan tilts his head.

"She said if I insisted on going to school so far from home, I had to live in or around Beacon Hills."

"Why Beacon Hills?"

"The Nemeton." You shrug.

"The- what?" He frowns.

"Nobody's told you about the Nemeton? It's a giant tree- well it used to be, it's been cut down so it's just a stump now."

"I've never seen anything like that and I feel like I'd notice a giant stump in the middle of the forest."

"You would think but the Nemeton is a... special tree. It will hide from those it doesn't want to be seen by. So if you haven't seen it perhaps it's felt no reason to reveal itself to you quite yet." You hum.

"Yet?"

"Well, you're a supernatural who just moved to a kind of small town where you know nobody and took a job at a sheriff's office that I'm sure does not have the greatest reputation because you 'felt called here' for some reason."

"And you think the call was a tree?"

"The Nemeton is more than a tree. It's pretty much a beacon for supernatural creatures and its reactivation would explain your arrival, kind of." You say.

"So why did the Nemeton bring me here?" He asks.

"That I don't have an answer for. Until the Nemeton reveals itself to you we can only speculate. Especially because I'm not even sure I've IDed you correctly."

"You think you've IDed me?"

"I... have a theory if you're interested in hearing it."

"Can I ask a couple more questions first?"

"Of course." You nod.

"Are you supernatural?" He asks.

"Only kind of. I'm from a family of druids."

"Druids?"

"Yeah, druids are like supernatural doctors so not quite human but certainly not anything on like werewolf level."

"Supernatural doctors, interesting. So doc, what am I?"

"My best guess is a hellhound." You say.

"A hellhound?" His eyes widen.

"Yes. Don't look so freaked it's not like you're going to sprout 3 heads and start answering to Hades."

"Well, what does it mean then?"

"Hellhounds are supernatural protectors usually their appearance means they're guarding something specific or maybe hunting something. They're pretty rare actually but I have more information about them in my books at home I just didn't memorize it all before dinner." You tell him.

"A hellhound."

"I'm sure that's not the kind of answer you were expecting but based on the information I got from Stiles about you that's the most likely classification."

"And it doesn't freak you out?"

"That you're a hellhound? Why would it?" You frown.

"Aren't they dangerous?"

"To those that pose a threat to it, sure. Are you threatened by me, deputy?"

"No." He shakes his head.

"Then I have no reason to be freaked out. Plus it's... kind of hard to fear someone so cute." You shrug. A smile tugs at your lips as you notice pink creep onto Jordan's face at your compliment. He clears his throat and shifts in his seat.

"You said you have more information on them?"

"I do. I can bring the relevant material by the station in the next couple of days for you if you'd like." You offer.

"You'd do that?"

"Well yeah, it's an excuse to see you again."

"You don't need an excuse." He shakes his head. "I really like you."

"I really like you too." You smile. Yeah, it's good to be back.

So that means she faked her own death, faked her own psychological struggles, faked her own EVERYTHING in order to kill all of these people?!

I think my hands would still be over my mouth if I didn't need them to type this reaction post.

That was QUITE the reveal.

You really do know how to pull off the twists and villain reveals like no other...

Holy sh*t.

Well....

I have to be up in five hours, which means that explanation is gonna be EXTRA interesting to hear when I (hopefully) get to watch tomorrow, but until then...

Thank GOD for Parrish, and thank GOD for Mason and Derek and Braeden. That was waaaay too close all around, and I was sooooo not a fan, but I am so glad everyone we care about is okay.

First of all, Parrish's timing could not have been more perfect, and I seriously love that man so much. I also love how much Brunski immediately underestimated him and how Parrish was having none of that and just immediately shot him. He was so quick to assess and protect and save and we love him. More than anything, we love that Brunski is finally dead, because holy F*CK that man needed to go. PARRISH ALL THE WAY MAN!! <3 <3

And then MASON! Another huge shout-out to the fact that this kid is soooo much in the dark right now, but he knows that Scott always has Liam's best interests at heart, and even if he doesn't know why he's doing it, his instinct is to protect his friends, and so without any explanation, he went over and shut off the music, and he GOT SCOTT'S ALPHA EYES BACK, giving him just enough strength to push them away until more help came, and we love him for that. We love him so much for that. Mason is the MVP. <3

And then Derek and Braeden coming in hot (because of COURSE they knew they were in danger, because packs be like that, man <3) and just GOING for it. Both of them fighting so hard and fighting so well, and Derek still being able to hold his own so well despite not having his werewolf powers, and taking out the assassins and saving the day.

And then the banter and affection between him and Scott I CANNOT!

"What happened to the gun?" "You were covered in gasoline."

And then the hand out to help him up I just...AHHHH I LOVE THEM!!! <3 <3

Despite how absolutely INSANE that ending was, I'm so happy that our pack is more or less okay (although Stydia certainly isn't out of the woods yet, but at least they have Parrish there to hopefully help them get out of there--plus, how much can Meredith really do as far as getting her OWN hands dirty? ...they'll be fine, right?!), and while I definitely need an EXPLANATION...I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

...I suppose that cliffhanger could've been worse, right? XD

Heather, we gotta talk about Peter and Lydia's dynamic, and then how he 'grew'???? Into his relationship with Malia. I mean like kind of insane of him to use Lydia as a soul capsule???? Then just letting her run around??? Then trying to manipulate her into thinking about everything???

i had to sit with this one a little bit to collect my thoughts about lydia and peter.

i'm sure what attracts people is that there's this element of perspheone and hades, of lydia's decent into the world of the supernatural because of peter, that he drove her into some form of madness with the two of them.

peter got lucky with lydia.

her being a banshee along side the connection between an alpha and someone they bit pulled his ass out of the afterlife.

him being his high-school self? was it a manipulation? did peter even have control of it? was it lydia's banshee powers? was it them both seeking a connection in a form lydia would be more comfortable with? less likely to be suspicious of?

in 6a lenore is able to create a manifestation of her deceased son. banshee powers are ill-defined in canon because it seems they are limitless and entirely unique to the banshee forged by their trauma and circumstance.

it's no coincidence to me that lydia under the tutelage of meredith is finally able to control and purposefully use her powers to save malia. lydia's loss of allison is a well spring of trauma, of pain and grief for her. she would do anything to not have someone else she cares about die knowing she could've done something to prevent it.

and also lydia is someone who spent a lot of time not using her voice, hiding behind a mask of the popular queen bee persona and when she does find her voice it becomes her greatest weapon. lydia's being true to herself and using her voice saves mason, stiles, malia and deaton. the wool is fully removed from her eyes. her powers let her perceive beyond the veil to the deepest truth of them all -- death.

the thing about peter is he's clever, cunning and manipulative but this man is also a hale so he's also in turn somewhat reckless and dramatic at all times. peter knows no chill and he will recognize no chill. you commit to your goddamn bit.

during peter's time as an alpha he only bites two people. scott and lydia. scott was bitten because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time but lydia was bitten deliberately.

s2 makes it clear that peter knew she wasn't going to turn but instead her banshee abilities were going to go from being passive to active. it was also a chance to intimate and strong arm stiles with lydia's life on the line.

as with many things with peter there's multiple reasons but i think he knew very quickly what she was when he encountered her in the tell.

going back to season 1 there were hints of lydia's banshee nature but none were as big as the tell. lydia arriving at the video store coincided closely with the death of the clerk. peter was even still lurking on the premises.

her powers were always there just latent.

alpha peter dicks around with terrorizing jackson and than bursts out only to startle lydia who screams. this moment is captured on the cctv footage which the the sheriff shows deaton stills from. this is also a moment when i think deaton begins to realize what's up.

i think lydia's scream brought peter out of his alpha form. a few episodes later is night school where peter brings all his people of interest to one place to have a really intense game of hide and seek, casual murder and attempts at intimidation. it wasn't just scott he was scoping out is what i'm saying. it's lydia's molotovs that eventually kill him. she's connected to both his death and resurrection.

i think peter knew he was on limited time anyway towards the end either derek was going to kill him or the argents so he took precautions to resurrect himself and lydia just fell into his lap like a portent.

he has continued interest in her like the creep he is though. i don't buy for a second he felt cowed at all when she came to the loft at the end of season 3a when she was trying to get information on where the nemeton is.

i don't really think peter necessarily feels guilt for what he thinks are necessary actions and the most necessary thing of all is the continued survival of peter hale. he's a complicated man. like i think he feels regret at having killed laura but it was a necessary sacrifice to obtain the alpha spark. acting contrite with lydia keeps her from killing him basically.

but again peter is complicated and when he views someone as his in any way he will try to protect them even if it's against his instinct of self preservation.

we see this behavior with malia and derek and cora. even stiles.

but lydia and scott? they are his. he bit them. they're both his greatest successes and his greatest failures as an alpha. he will guard that jealously and revel in it. he will be a pain in their ass. he is their demon to wrestle.
