Art, Dance and Eurovision redemption - Women of Central/Eastern Europe
Tumblr media
At it again, this time in Central/Eastern Europe! Real Europe? You get the point :)
In which I've spent most of this week caught in the rabbithole that is Romanian music (seriously, the amount I had to cut to make room for everything else is brutal) and I've ended up quite fond of 1997 albums, by the looks of it. Unintentionally!
As usual, the list is not in any way ranked - this is just the order it happened to end up in. My top picks from each album have been gathered in a playlist here (ca. an hour and 20 minutes), if you want more (which, why wouldn't you?), here's an extended version with additional tracks from albums and artists not mentioned on the list (just under three hours), and finally there's a playlist of the full albums.
Justyna Steczkowska - Naga (1997) Spotify Youtube - Kicking off the list with some jazzy polish art pop! The track's on this are so incredibly layered (just take Kryminalna miłość for an example) and Steczkowska is such a skilled vocalist.
Jana Vébrová - Kykyrý (2007) Spotify Youtube - I mean, Vébrová's just cool, right? An accordion heavy folk-ish record, but with plenty of edge. Like I said, it's just really cool.
Ruslana - Дикі танці (2003) Spotify Youtube - Ruslana is so obviously an icon that I had a hard time not including her here, and I don't think there's much to argue against this being her best record. Aptly named, too, because this one will make you want to dance.
Sarolta Zalatnay - Álmodj velem (1972) Spotify Youtube - Of its time for sure, but damn great at it! An energetic pop rock record with heavy funk influence helped by Zalatny's strong vocals - she's really got a voice for the genre and is clearly feeling it.
Diana Arbenina - Мальчик на шаре (2014) Spotify Youtube - Slowing down a bit and moving alt. The album flows incredibly well and you really get pulled in over the course of it.
Margareta Pâslaru - În grădina bucuriilor (1975) Youtube - Not on spotify, to my great displeasure, but Youtube link provided if you can excuse the audio quality (please do <3). As the tracks won't be included on the playlist, I'll point out Ce Nu Știm and Nu, N-a Fost Glumă (La Mélancolie), which also happen to showcase the versatility of this album really well, imo. May or may also feature a surprise cover that utterly delighted me.
Ada Milea - Aberații sonore (1997) Spotify Youtube - I'm not gonna lie, I absolutely fell in love with this record. Like, this being Milea's debut is mindblowing to me. It's incredible. I will also blindly admit that it's not for everyone - it does not shy away from being artsy or avant in any way, but, in my opinion, it manages to do it without being annoying. This was one of those were I had a hard time picking out tracks because it just kept giving. It's just so incredibly fun is the truth of it, and I adored every second of it.
Anastasia Lazariuc - Cine poate ști (1997) Spotify Youtube - Europop at its most energetic and interesting. Look, if this album doesn't boost your energy, I don't know what will. Absolutely one to dance to.
Jana Kirschner - Krajina rovina (2010) Spotify Youtube - Arguably another obvious inclusion, but Kirschner really is a skilled songwriter. The production on this is top-notch, too - the tracks are multilayered and playful, not to mention well-structured and composed. You can - and should - really dig into this one, there's so much to take from.
... And there we have it! The end. For now.
I hope you have even just a fraction as much fun with listening to this as I did. If you have any further recommendations please feel free to share! Mwah <3

boyGENIUS!!!!
Tumblr media
boygenius, a superstar trio of indie artists including phoebe bridgers, julien baker, and lucy dacus, recently released their debut album, and it is truly nothing short of genius. in a moment that was about as culturally significant to me as the signing of the declaration of independence, these three women utterly changed the course of my life and the lives of thousands of other melodramatic girlies. this lil post, despite being a healthy 3-ish weeks after the actual release of the record, will compile some of my standout thoughts on each track of the album. hope you enjoy! ;)
1: without you without them
one thing about me, i LOVE some boygenius harmonies. in a similar manner as my beloved favorite track from their 2018 EP, ketchum ID, without you without them provokes a deep sense of peace and emotion combined. “speak to me, until your history’s no mystery to me” is the cutest cleverest little lyric. the perfect opening track.
2: $20
0:01 seconds in, any seasoned boygenius fan immediately goes “julien!!!” her signature heavier guitar and drums sets her apart from the jump and creates the catchiest hook. plus the screaming at the end?? oh my god??? (that video of phoebe recording I KNOW!!!!! YOU HAVE!!!!! 20 DOLLARS!!!!!! has actually not left my head since i saw it)
3: emily i’m sorry
i will forever be unapologetically weak in the knees for phoebe bridgers. she captures so many emotions so beautifully in this, between loving someone so much it destroys you and feeling completely out of control of your life. i love the progression between “i can feel myself becoming someone only you could want” and “i can feel myself becoming somebody i’m not, i’m not” between the two choruses.
4: true blue
more songs about platonic love!!!! PLEASE!!!! this track is devastatingly adorable. “i can’t hide from you like i hide from myself,” is the perfect lyric to make you think of that friend who will tell you that you don’t have to say “its ok” when you’re miserable over something. the bridge also makes me feel like i’m floating. i love lucy!!!!
5: cool about it
WOW. unquestionably in the top three, immediately. i’m a sucker for a boygenius song where they all have equal verses (souvenier-esque) and this one HITS. i’ve seen so many different interpretations of this one, including but not limited to: 1: the feeling of knowing an old friendship is slowly drifting apart, 2: a heartbreak that you swallow and smile through for the other person, and 3: clinging to someone that you know is bad for you because you can’t imagine yourself without them. all of them are so fitting, and i find so much beauty in the open-endedness.
6: not strong enough
LUCY AT THE END. LITERALLY JUST. LUCY’S PART AT THE END.
makes me go actually crazy every time. they ate this one up. a depressing song in an upbeat major key melody is an incredible combination. sneaks up on ya.
7: revolution 0
this is such a genuinely beautiful song. another one where they just nailed the harmonies. “i used to think if i’d just close my eyes, i will disappear”  reminds me so much of “i used to think you could hear the ocean in a seashell, what a childish thing” in phoebe’s single “sidelines.” definitely a lie on the floor and ponder existence while tracing the cracks in your ceiling type jam.
8: leonard cohen
i love a short little song. and this is a fantastic one. “i am not an old man having an existential crisis at a buddhist monastery, writing horny poetry, but i agree” is incredibly boygenius-coded. their tendency towards the occasional silly little lyric is something i can always get behind. my favorite fact about this one is that the story at the beginning is 100% true-and that phoebe was the one driving the car.
9: satanist
as the text that my best friend sent to me at the release of the album reads, “satanist BANGS” and it’s true. satanist does in fact, bang. another distinct julien standout, it provides a sick little head-bangy intermission to all the introspective, staring-at-the-ceiling pondering. “will you be a nihilist with me? if nothing matters, man that’s a relief” has got to be the realest thing i’ve heard in a minute.
10: we’re in love
dunno if this song has too much of a tinge of sadness to be my first dance song at my wedding…..but i certainly want it to be. i’d have to claim this one as my favorite from the album. everything about it is just stunning, from the lyrics and the story they convey to the vocals and simple instrumental backing. the verse about finding each other in the next life actually made me tear up in the public record store where i first heard the album. “i can’t imagine you without the same smile in your eyes, there is something about you that i will always recognize” ARE YOU KIDDING?!! so heart-stoppingly beautiful.
11: anti-curse
i’d love to drive down an empty highway with this song playing. there’s something so magical about a song that has a dramatic build-up, and there’s nobody that does a dramatic build-up better than these three right here (shout out not strong enough again). the instrumental swells at “i guess i did alright considering” and “i’m swimmin back” feel like such a true release of emotion, you can’t help but feel it alongside the band.
12: letter to an old poet
INSANE. easily a standout track, between the parallel to the past “me and my dog,” from the band’s debut EP, to the gut-wrenching lyricism delivered in phoebe’s smooth vocals, it’s seriously unforgettable-especially for old fans of the band. “and i love you, i don’t know why, i just do” is a poignantly simple capture of a feeling we’ve all faced at one point or another. the combination of love, hurt, and rage is such an intriguing combination and draws the listener in from the first moment. also a BIG fan of “you don’t get to tell me to calm down.” remember to never let anyone invalidate how you feel, my friends. and also remember to…
STAY COOL!!!!!

hello! id like the album thingy ☺️
Send me a 🎶 and I'll match you up with an album from my collection (or just ask me to do it I'm having so much fun)
Okay so there is no rule saying I can't repeat albums, and my gut said Janis Joplin. BUT that's not fun so I thought harder about it and it's a good thing I did bc this is so much better. Patti Smith's debut album Horses
Tumblr media
Patti Smith, punk poet laureate, I don't actually listen to a lot of Julien Baker outside of Boygenius's album but between that and your love for girl!gvf (which like is you supporting a friend but also clear genuine love) I just had to give you the vaguely queer punk love of my life. Not just because both are queer but because the grittiness of both I think calls for the grittiness of Patti
So there's a lot about this album that I ADORE I think its probably top 10 albums of all time for me. We'll start with the non-music. The cover photo was taken by Robert Mapplethorpe, who was a very good friend of Patti's and also her lover for a while. He eventually comes out as gay, they stay very good friends, and he becomes an incredibly influential American Photographer. I do not recommend looking him up unless you are willing to see explicit gay BDSM photography. But I have such a soft spot for him as a historian of gay male sexual subcultures, I dedicated my masters thesis to him (and others who were involved in kink and died of AIDS)
Okay so the music
The first song "Gloria: In Excelsis Deo" is one of my favorite songs of all time. Top 10 I think. Van Morrison originally wrote the song, The Doors do a version of it. But Patti re-works the Van Morrison song and it's SO FUCKING GOOD. "Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine" is the best fucking lyric EVER (See what i mean about Julian Baker?)
It's not quite punk, if by punk you're thinking like The Clash or The Ramones, it's very American punk. More similar to the Velvet Underground (I'm not sure if Patti ever met Lou Reed, but she must have. They were both running in similar circles, I think Robert Maplethorpe must have been in Andy Warhol's circle even if on the very edge) But even then it's not quite that either. it's SO poetry heavy? I don't know how to explain it. If you've never listened to his album I'm begging you to.
My favorite story about Patti Smith is that one day, Allen Ginsberg mistook her for a young boy and was trying to flirt with her and then realized she was infact not a boy, but bought her dinner anyways.

Alvvays defined
This one is gonna be a fun post for me to make. Listening to the monarchs of musical bliss, the indie pop idols, Alvvays, every time, without fail feels like an inherent act of musical artistic appreciation, like I can't help but to think about how great music as an art form is. To make it all the more impressive, the band manage to maintain that high constantly throughout an album, and across albums. I don't tend to buy into the whole "no bad songs" thing because I find it undermines the value of your appreciation if you ignore flaws as opposed to loving something in spite (or even because) of them, but when it comes to Alvvays, I genuinely don't dislike a single song, even really a single moment, they've created. They aren't perfect of course, and we'll get into that a little bit in a second, but I'm convinced they are one of the best indie acts going. Let's get into why.
Alvvays (self-titled)
Tumblr media
When I say this album is one-note, you'd be forgiven for thinking I found the album monotonous, boring, and repetitive. You'd be forgiven, but mistaken. This debut album from Alvvays is consistently exciting and establishes a core identity expertly over a concise 33 minute runtime, which also helps ensure that their lack of experimentation isn't felt. Featuring flowery and left-field lyrics (see Adult Diversion), dreamy guitar lines (see Atop a Cake) and the perfectly restrained rhythms to facilitate the euphoria of each and every song, the Alvvays sound was focused and flawlessly executed from day one.
I did mention that Alvvays weren't perfect in the preamble, and while they came out on their first album more or less fully formed, that applies as much to many negatives of theirs as it does to positives, and the clearest negative I've found in their discography is inconsistent album sequencing. I haven't tried, but I get the impression their albums, especially their later two, wouldn't be too badly affected by playing them on shuffle, although each project certainly has its own identity which helps them feel cohesive.
Even with that negative though, the sheer quality of these songs make it fantastic, especially considering it's a debut. Not many acts are immediately gifted enough to get me whipped up in the pure joy of music like songs such as Archie, Marry Me, Party Police, Atop a Cake, and Red Planet do.

Antisocialites
Tumblr media
What do you get if you take the exceptional qualities of the last album, and add some refinement and slight experimentation, along with punchier production? A 10/10 album called Antisocialites, apparently. You hear it all right off the bat too, with In Undertow introducing you to the album with a washed out distorted guitar that feels like the aural version of a low wave on the beach immersing your feet. That blissful, "life is great", picturesque holiday feeling pervades this album entirely. You cannot love music, hear this album and not feel joy. It's just impossible, and I will not be convinced otherwise. Alvvays had me by the balls from the first note of the album and took the opportunity to give me a (barely metaphorical) orgasm.
I must admit, I struggle to be at all analytical about this album, as you may have noticed, simply because this capacity to induce joy and awe almost evades analysis. I can tell you it's indie pop. I can tell you it's brilliant and one-of-a-kind, but I just cannot tell you why beyond what I have here. It all just either seems so perfect but so obvious, or just completely indescribable.
Again, I don't like to say that something is without flaws, I don't like sounding so uncritically adoring, but every song on here (except one that I will get to) is noteworthy and awe-inspiring to me. The perfect energy of Plimsoll Punks and Your Type, the girl-group charm of Not My Baby, the dynamism of Hey... I could easily go on, but I'll spare you any further pious rambling, and leave it at the promise that every song is incredible in its own unique way that branches naturally from the sound established on the band's debut.
The one criticism I have that I hinted at earlier, was that the sequencing was a little awkward again, particularly in that Already Gone, a song that is well below the album's par for me (although still great in a vacuum because of course it is, Alvvays are almost annoyingly good at this whole music thing), felt forced in between Lollipop (Ode to Jim) and Saved by a Waif. I'm glad it's a song that has seen the light of day, and I think there's definitely a version of this album with that song on it that feels more natural, perhaps having it by the slightly slow Dreams Tonite as opposed to being sandwiched between very high energy, happy songs, but it just doesn't work here in my opinion.
Anyway, that's about enough fawning for a [blank] defined post, so overall thoughts: Alvvays' middlebrow status-quo rituals more than sufficed here and if you like indie pop or any surrounding genres and don't listen to it, you're stinky and I don't respect you until you do. Do it. It's good, you'll like it. Look, I'll even link it for you:

Blue Rev
Tumblr media
And after a quick 5-year non-hiatus- induced break filled with drama, personal and global (Donald Trump's presidential era gets strictly no Alvvays, which I respect), the frankly too talented Alvvays returned with their most diverse album yet, starting with a slightly garage-leaning rendition of their sound with Pharmacist and Easy On Your Own? before getting back to their old sound, and their best version of it yet, at that, with After the Earthquake (obligatory mention that the final "are you awake now?" that Molly Rankin belts out is eargasmic), which makes for an incredible introduction to the album, telling you to expect a lot of variety, but in a way that is true to their already established identity.
Then they try their hand at being a The Smiths cover band without getting into legal trouble with Pressed, and they mimic their indie royalty predecessors with an apparent ease that is mind-boggling and follow it up with the sincerely sweet Many Mirrors which, thematically, appears to act as a reprieve from the stories of romantic hardship to tell a, presumably, more reality-founded story of a situation that is as effortless as it was at the onset of their feelings.
Then there's a sharp left-turn towards the delightful Voidz-esque Very Online Guy that just confirms that the band are having as much fun as you are, as the band takes the soundscape of the early internet to inspire the instrumentation on the track about a guy who is, get this, very online. It goes over cyber stalking, constant opinions, and similarly modern stressors with a sense of humour that makes it go down so easy.
Then Velveteen (yes we're going more or less track-by-track, this album is chaotic in the best way) serves as the payoff to mentions of "velvet" found in other songs on the album, giving those mentions an added level of meaning retroactively before flowing perfectly (credit where it's due) to the similarly mellow, and distinctly melancholic Tile By Tile and then reminds you what band you're listening to by taking the foot off the brakes with the ball of tired altruist energy of Pomeranian Spinster, my personal favourite Alvvays track that doesn't even get enough love amongst Alvvays fans from what I've seen. It's a typical length, 3 and a half minute song that is so incredibly fun and charismatic it feels like half that at least.
From there, you're given a little bit of a break with the Belinda Carlisle-approved Belinda Says which is a beautiful anthem about just making it work. Being dealt a shitty hand but going all in anyway and figuring it out as you go.
From there, the album mostly just continues to wind-down, which is far from a flaw. In fact I think it was necessary. Constantly high energy isn't as easy to pull off over 30 minutes as it is over 40 and taking that extra few moments to just bring you back down to reality pays dividends for an album that gives you transcendent moments like they have an overabundance of them, which I imagine isn't actually far from the truth.
All that positive stuff being said, the album does have it's flaws. Personally, Fourth Figure strikes me as tonally redundant, and while the sequencing is more or less on point here, the album does still feel a little too messy to match or surpass the quality of Antisocialites, even if it does provide it's own charm.

Playlist
Frankly, I'd recommend just listening to the albums, in chronological order even, but for those who, for whatever reason, would prefer a playlist of some of their best, most representative stuff (at least in my humble opinion), that can be found below. I hope it helps you in some way!

enha for the ask game 🕺🕺🕺
🕺🕺🕺🕺
first bias:
sunghoon!
current bias(es):
sunoo <33 (and also jungwon 🐈)
album/era ranking:
title track only ranking: blessed-cursed -> drunk-dazed -> given-taken -> tamed-dashed -> future perfect (pass the mic)
full album/era ranking:
DIMENSION : ANSWER (+ DILEMMA) | tamed-dashed definitely isn't my favorite enha title ever, but blessed-cursed definitely is (or its one of them anyway), and since these albums both have some of my favorite ever enha b-sides (and enha songs in general) with answer being a repackage, i figured i could just join them! attention, please and go big or go home are two of my top songs off any enha album ever, and THEN answer added polaroid love, my top ever soft enha song, into the mix-- so yes, answer is definitely favorite album material! (i would have felt a little guilty putting dilemma lower JUST because of t-d when several of my favorite tracks would not exist without it KSGDJFH). the actual song aside, though, the CONCEPT of tamed-dashed and all the promotions, teasers, concept photos and etc before it were absolutely stunning (and i do still like tamed-dashed a lot-- it just ranks fairly low among the other enha titles)
BORDER : CARNIVAL | ABSOLUTE queen. not only does this album have drunk-dazed (my other top enha tt) as a title track, it has fever, not for sale, mixed up, AND one of the sickest enha concepts to date (that mv??? PLEASE.). this is a particularly potent one for me as it's when i really got into enhypen-- when i was really active in the community, when everyone was coming up with so many crazy theories about the lore and writing out equally-crazy "what-ifs".
BORDER : DAY ONE | honestly just a really gorgeous debut. i loved given-taken, and i loved let me in, 10 months, and flicker just as much. i feel like this era has gotten king of forgotten/overshadowed with everything enhypen has come out since then (which. valid), but it was such a nice intro to enhypen's whole deal (spoken affectionately)!
MANIFESTO : DAY 1 | still a fairly new era, so i might feel a bit different after letting it marinate a bit. this is, similar to something i mentioned in a previous ask for this ask game, yet another instance of me adoring literally every track in an album except for the title track. kpop. why. LDHFJFB i didnt hate future perfect or anything, but it felt significantly less... enhypen-y than usual. the b-sides, however? NOT SO. tfw and shout out very quickly climbed their way into my list of favorite ever enhypen songs along with foreshadow, and paradoxxx invasion, while less dramatically alternating to my life and mindset, was absolutely a bop. points deducted for not having shout out as the promoted bside tho (/j)
how i got into them:
i was on tumblr when, somehow, i followed one person who was in the "eggie family" (people watching i-land; called ourselves eggies because that entrance dome thing was shaped like an egg LMAO) and suddenly i was friends with like all of them. i wanted to be in on the i-land fun and i thought sunghoon was incredibly pretty so i downloaded viki and started watching it HDJFHFJ (altho i never got passed episode 8 because my phone died </3). i watched them debut as enhypen with given-taken, which slapped, then stuck around kind of casually until border: carnival came around, at which point i did the engene equivalent of falling into the ocean and drowning when previously id sort of just been sitting on the peer with my feet in the water. i fell irreversibly in love with sunoo and have been stuck here ever since!
who would be my best friend:
sunoo probably, or maybe jungwon (i chose my biases in this group according to how friend-shaped they were apparently). jay and/or jake also seem like pretty good bestie material!
things i associate with them:
vampires (and also just supernatural stuff in general) because of their lore, for sure. theres also a good number of songs i associate with their lore counterparts due to the abundance of theorizing and writing that happened circa border: carnival HSJFHFJ

P1Harmony Harmony: Set In album review
Unsolicited album review (p3!!)
I’ve been a p1ece since debut and I just get so excited about new music, no one asks for these nor cares, but I have fun doing it, so there. Hope everyone’s enjoying the album!!
Warning: long post [1.4k], I got carried away lmao.
Note - this is the first time P1Harmony has done the showcase first, then dropped the MV and then the rest of the album, the order does feel a little funny but it was actually really nice to hear two of the songs yesterday (they sang Better Together at the showcase as well as the title).
As always, I did keep up with the teasers, so it definitely won’t be a total surprise listening to the album. I feel like instead of spoiling it though, I got so hyped so I guess the teasers did their job alright. I also watched the showcase yesterday and heard both songs and I really liked both.
Bonus: Jiung helped write Better Together!!! Intak and Jongseob always have their rap writing credits but to see a composition credit is just such a joy, especially because we know how much Jiung likes writing music and how much pride he takes in it.
Back Down (+MV)
Alright first things first - holy shit the visuals!!!!! I loved the underground idk ‘lair’ or whatever you can call the hang out spot since they dropped the prologue. It’s amazing, the detail, the decor is perfect. I immediately thought of the Ninja Turtles when I saw it, and I had a good look around on the bird app and found other people had a similar thought so I guess maybe FNC was going for it? If it’s so obvious lol. But I love it so much; the guys said this album is about friendship and I totally see why there’s a sort of reference to the ninja turtles - they’re a cute bunch (of brothers) but also friends and they go on cool missions and stuff so the vibe is perfect.
Okay the song: I could tell from the few seconds we got as teasers that this was going to be a bop but omg it’s so much better than that, it’s a whole banger! (Keeho’s intro, sir, do you have something to say?) There’s something so satisfying about Jongseob’s hard ‘rr’ sound and I love the bass boom in the instrumental. (also the MV - they got super powers or something from getting electrocuted? fun!) Intak’s “bro!” took me out (actually his whole verse did but yea), then the MV transition where they jump up from the sewers to the metro was just so neat omg. I love the sort of New York setting they’re emulating, it really keeps up the reference to the Ninja Turtles. Keeho with those glasses and earrings, he actually looks like he time travelled from the 90s lol. The backpacks make them look like turtles I’m sorry I said it but I find it adorable.
RA TA TA TA!!!!!!
Tag yourself I’m the pizza person looking down in the sewer.
Jiung is out for my life, he serving too hard this era, everyone say thank you to the stylists. But also the styling is as usual so incredible and everyone looks amazing!!
Soul throwing the pizza at us, the trio against the moonlight and standing on top of the buildings? So very Ninja Turtles, my heart is happy haha (i love the ninja turtles, can you tell?)
Omg the little captions too, comic book feel, it’s fun. BUT THEN
Jiung driving (Jiung driving me insane, p1eces sound off if you’re alive)
SOUL LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY
The pre-chorus is so long, what a build up, it’s like 3 different phrases? It’s dope.
The suits the suits the suits the suits also the little video game style thing when they’re “fighting” each other is so cute
Also I had this thought when I saw Keeho with this hair at the showcase yesterday - it really reminded me of something then I got it: he’s in his Rockhopper Penguin era, duh
Keeyang bridge - I love the way the instrumental gets so minimal, like yes, please we want to hear the vocals (ft Jiung losing his mind around the table lmao).
Intak’s ‘time to change it now’ - change what dude???!!! Also he looked like a cute school kid with that backpack lol I feel like I’m taking my kids to school when I see them with those massive bags haha.
The chorus of this song is so full of energy it’s definitely one of their biggest hype songs and that’s saying something.
I just checked how long the song is and it’s only 2:48?? It feels so much longer than that not just cuz of the video but like so much happens in it? anyway, interesting since it’s their shortest title track (all of the others are at least 3 mins long)
BFF
The instrumental touched my soul for a second. Speaking of which, SOUL LINES???!!!!!! YESSSSS my kid getting something after how long omg. The build up is beautiful. This is Yes Man’s younger, more playful sibling. That guitar? riff is ingrained in my heart now, no going back. Jongseob’s shimmy shimmy ah haha cute! This song is an instant serotonin boost I’m smiling so much. It’s so short though I need more!! So I’ll listen to it again sskskskskjdn
The ‘by your side’ harmony!! I want to dance, it’s so fun and cute omg. Jongseob’s singing yesss.
Secret Sauce
The intro????? i’m-
Beat is sick omg, the build up too. “future’s coming” interesting you should mention that.
Chorus took a totally different turn then I expected lol. The adlibs!!!! The gang vocals!!!! The whispering in the background behind the rapper’s verses holy shit, that’s cool.
Shimmy shimmy count x1000 aosfousduf
Taeyang please, have mercy, also that little ‘sauce’ adlib (i think it was actually Soul for some reason) before Keeho’s lines. What is that noise?? It sounded like an electronic xylophone or something wtf that was so cool
(in conclusion shimmy shimmy has me in a chokehold)
One and only
What????? The teaser didn’t do this song justice I say that like 20 secs in.
BOOM!
Funky lil instrumental, my beloved. Okay if BFF was related to Yes Man, so is this one, it’s like the funky cousin that is so loud but you love them anyway. Life of the party type of thing. BOOM! ZOOM! (i promised I’m not possessed by the music). SOUL LINESSSSSSS I’LL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THIS, KID’S DOING SO WELL!! The bridge, there’s so much going on in the instrumental holy shit. NANANANANANAANANA - you know a song is good when it has that.
Look At Me Now
(I really liked the Korean title, it’s something like “the child who swallowed the sun”?) just from the teasers I thought this might be one of my super all times favourite in the piwon catalog, let’s see if that’s true lol.
Jiung I’m on my last straw
THE GUITAR RIFF! INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS RIGHT NOWWWW
DRUMS HOLY HOLY HOLY OMFG
THIS GENRE IS SUCH A GREAT BLEND, ESPECIALLY FOR PIWON
Jongseob pop off my child :’)
“I’m on the top floor” - I’m somewhere in space, speeding toward the sun while listening to this song wbu (this is going to be my new 3am psychosis song lskdjosidsds)
SOUL LINES!!!
This is p1eces’ boxer/WWE theme song, y’know when they announce the contenders and stuff, and they come out to epic music? This is the song
Better Together
(heard this yesterday watching the showcase, it was lovely as a performance)
I love the rapper’s vocals!!
I feel like Taeyang really owns this for some reason - like in the chorus especially.
Piwon’s medium pop ballads are always top notch, they all have that softness and upbeat chord progression that’s like sunshine on a rainy day.
I want an acoustic performance for some reason - I totally see this with a bunch of guitars and maybe around a camp fire?
SOUL LINES!!!!
Piwon harmonies!!!!!
*
In conclusion, Piwon have a god tier, no-skip discography and when kpoppies find out about them it’s over for everyone. I don’t know how they do it, like every album they put out is consistently brilliant and they manage to stay fresh and do different things while keeping that distinct p1harmony flavour, I really wonder what they put in the fish cake water.
I’m not a person who likes the obsessive fan culture with voting and streaming but honestly I would hope that there’s some way to give piwon a win, they more than deserved it for this whole year, every album/title was incredible and they’ve done so much, I’m so proud of them.
I really hope the guys can have some time off since they really had such a busy year, 3 albums, a tour, extra performances and all the harmony forest stuff too, holy shit, it’s really insane, but it was also so amazing and I hope they’re proud of what they’ve accomplished so far.
anyways, I love p1harmony and I hope you do too <333

An Introduction to 'Wet Leg'
Tumblr media
My knowledge of Wet Leg began one night when I was on a video call with my best friend. We both have pretty busy lives, so in consequence, we don't get to hang out nearly as much as we'd like to. This is why we try to make the effort to video call once each week to spend hours catching up on the happenings in each other's lives. It kind of began in the 2021 lockdown and has continued on since then and we have been pretty consistent!
This night we had already been talking for a couple hours and I was scrolling through my Facebook feed on my new computer while listening to her speak. This is where I see the name 'Wet Leg' for the first time. It pops up in my feed multiple times within a short space and I was immediately captivated and intrigued by the name - mostly because the name means absolutely nothing and does not infer anything at all about what the music would sound like. This is something I find really exciting!! I share this finding with my friend and I instantly jump onto Spotify to listen to what was their most streamed song at the time, 'Chaise Longue'. We were in hysterics after hearing the opening verse. "I went to school and I got the big D"??? Genius.
Despite adoring the music I was listening to, I did not do any further investigation on Wet Leg for another couple of months, until my sister plays "Chaise Longue" and Harry Styles' cover of "Wet Dream" on what my family calls 'YouTube Night' - where we each go around and play a music video of our own choice and enjoy each other's music (and company). Needless to say, I was hooked and I added 'Wet Dream' and 'Chaise Longue' to my driving playlist, which is essentially my current rotation playlist at this point, to be honest.
Tonight, I decided that it was finally time that I deep dive into Wet Leg's small discography by listening to their self-titled debut album. I must say, what a great debut record! I find it simultaneously gives the energy of a breath of fresh air and also a throwback. It is really cheeky and clever and it seems very simple on the surface, but I find it really interesting. The singles are perhaps a little misleading to the rest of the album content, as they were more upbeat compared to the album cuts, however, they still did not disappoint!
Some of the tracks that have really stood out to me upon first listen were Wet Dream, Chaise Longue, Ur Mum, Being In Love, Convincing, and Too Late Now. I find the lyrical content so clever and fucking genius. The play on words, the vocal delivery, the use of humour... SO well done.
Upon watching all of Wet Leg's accompanying music videos for this album, it is clear they have established a distinct aesthetic which complements their music incredibly well. It is incredibly fun, humourous, fairly non-sensical, and such a joy to watch. Their visuals feel very homemade and D.I.Y, which I actually really enjoy! It goes to show that they don't take themselves too seriously and shows off what a fun bunch they are.
I look forward to seeing Wet Leg in their future musical endeavours! I will definitely be keeping an ear out for new content from them. They got me! I'm sold. Wet Leg are just fantastic. Give Wet Leg's debut self-titled album a listen now!

Kpop title track ranking: INFINITE
In this series I’ll be ranking kpop groups/soloists title tracks based on my taste.
So, YouTube led me to Infinite after a while and I decided why not bring one of my older ultimate groups to the front line! I absolutely love Infinite to bits even today after them not being active in years already. Their music just is so so good and they were such a hilarious bunch together. I’m always happy to get my Infinite crumbs on Instagram when the guys post some pictures of them supporting each others works and stuff. But okay let’s stop this loving ramble and get on to the listing!
Note: Infinite’s singles are confusing, so I’ll just count them as title tracks as they seem to have been promoting them.
Destiny - Destiny, my ultimate love. I don’t remember this for sure but I think this was the first Infinite song I heard and probably also the first one I started liking. And it just hasn’t ever stopped being captivating to me. The attitude in it is just something I can’t find in anywhere else. I just love Destiny and it just has to be the one I call my number 1.
Back - Was I blessed to have this as my first Infinite comeback after starting to love them? Oh boy I was. Is it even legal for a song to be this good? Pulling all my heartstrings with no mercy. Just so incredible song.
Paradise - Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I just love Paradise. All of it. Lyrics. Instrumentals. Vocals. Raps. Choreography (and this is a lot coming from someone who doesn’t really retain much memories of dances). Just all of it.
Last Romeo - Another one of my absolute loves. Probably has something to do with the MV having Woohyun as the main lead for the acting. But that aside, the song is just incredible and it just sounds great even now that years have gone by.
Bad - This was such a different style for them. But I was and still am all up for it. One thing: I rarely have specific parts or lines in songs that I like above all else but in this song there are two! This L’s part and in some of the live versions this Woohyun’s ad-lib he did continuing the note, it just so so good. Also I absolutely love them, mostly Woohyun, singing that “Bad bad bet a bad bad girl” part in some end of the year performances.
The Chaser - I feel like a lot of people would put this as their favorite Infinite song. And I mean I can’t blame them for that. It is just so catchy and so flawlessly good. I had such a blast listening to it for this list now and it did go a bit higher than if I had done the list without listening to the songs first. And I had to put this version of the MV here because I want to mention how much I love the intro Infinitize, it’s just sooooo good!
The Eye - What can I say, just a gorgeous song. It’s just bittersweet that this ended up being the last OT7 song. Also, for some reason I ended up absolutely adoring the Japanese version of this song as well. Not anything new with Infinite in general as I’ve liked multiple of their older b-sides in both languages but it being a newer title track I was a little surprised.
Be Mine - I’m so glad that Be Mine exists. Without it Infinite would have been way shorter lived group than the Infinite we now know. And it is soooo catchy! Kpop classic for a reason!
Come Back Again - What a debut! This song is from 2010 and I’m still get so hyped when I hear it. It hasn’t aged terribly like undoubtedly some other song from that era (or I’m just incredibly biased here and I can’t see through it at all xD).
Man In Love - The MV though! I love it, it’s so adorable! And surely this is my favorite of the cutesy songs.
BTD - The album this one is in was my first Infinite album that I got, so it gives it a little extra boost I have to admit but I try to stay somehow logical with this xD It still is a really cool song. And the scorpion dance still today is cool to me xD
Tell Me -  Bittersweet part 2 here, being the first song with six of them. It’s great like one would expect from Infinite but it has gotten less listens with me than the ones above, so I feel like the placement is quite fair.
Clock - And the last Infinite title track, hopefully only for now and some day there being a new song coming our way (this little Inspirit can hope, right?). The song missing Sunggyu’s voice is obviously a downside to it but then again on the positive side I feel like Sungyeol and Sungjong got more time to shine than before so that’s great.
Nothing’s Over - Okay the trend is clear: the cutesy Infinite is definitely going to be keeping the bottom end of this list. For me the cutesy stuff is more for watching the MV’s than actively listening to the songs xD Nothing wrong with Nothing’s Over either and if I’d be in the mood for it, sure, but I’m more rarely in the mood for this, I guess.
She’s Back - Well just compared to all of the other songs in this list this falls a bit short for me. It’s cute and I have listened to this one quite a bit too throughout the years but it has never been my top favorites from them. But that’s just me. If you are feeling like listening to something cute, give it a listen!
No kidding I love Infinite’s discography so so much (and not just the title tracks). Putting these songs in any order is just ridiculously hard and just plain stupid. They are all great and they all have aged well, so if you haven’t please do check their songs out! On that note, I would like to add a couple of recommendations for their Japanese songs and b-sides. Of the original Japanese songs DNA is so cool and Just Another Lonely Night is one of my favorite songs from Infinite overall! Of the Korean b-sides, I would like to mention 1/3 (and check also the concert version of this, it’s so fun!), rock-style song I Hate and Moonlight, which also happens to have one of those rare specific favorite parts for me, being Sungyeol’s chorus part.

2022 music recap (2/3?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
concepts:
this was a good year for good concepts, and i hope it improves even more next year! onlyoneof's "be" series really held it down, with the standout in my opinion going to yoojung's begin. this sounds extremely dumb but the song and the music video are at peak conceptual, thematic, tonal, sonic and lyrical harmony. like the song and mv are explicitly about beginnings, yes, but something about the song also sounds like the start of something new. they're insane for that oml. i am once again asking everyone to watch the be series start to finish once the last installment drops on january 4th. i won't be mad if you mute beat i promise but the mv is still nice.
i feel like i've been raving about lexie liu's album, the happy star, and it's rollout too much but. please watch fortuna and magician (tw death, tw flashing though, be careful!!). i can't fully explain what i liked beyond the story, but i just think the whole thing is really well done. i especially love how the ganma mv is her cleaning up one of the sets from fortuna/magician. it could just be because i love this album dearly but i even love the 3.14159 mv thats just her walking around in interesting sets (kind of a fake one shot style). idk. it makes sense to me.
love dive is my favorite gg mv of the year! i won't spend too much more time on it but yeah. it's impeccable, and i liked the vibe of the teasers too. I hope they bring that energy again for their first album, that's the quality that i'd expect for what's shaping up to be the next huge gg.
albums:
i need to post this and run away tbh, it's to the point where i'm not even fully sure that i agree with myself. i don't have the time/energy/patience/will to go through each album one by one but i would strongly recommend all of the selected songs that i put on the righthand side :)
debuts (in order by rank):
generation was a perfect debut we love to see it! a friend and i were talking about what makes the music video unique despite containing pretty conventional themes and we decided that it felt a bit more true to the "female gaze," which was great to see. i'm so excited to see where they go :)
i don't love ador as a company (that gaslighty statement is still sooooo crazy to me) so i don't really like talking about new jeans very much despite enjoying their music. i'm not sure who paid everyone to say that hype boy is their best song when attention is right there. the girls who get it get it! very solid debut mini. i hope ador is more careful with their concept in the future- ditto seems like a good start. i will be keeping an eye out for them moving forward!
tan dududu - somehow the last hope for men??? it's toooo good even if the bsides are pretty weak. dudududu isnt really a song you listen to and get hooked in my opinion, but it's an instant classic that'll never get old (in part because it takes a lot of inspiration from more classic american (read: black) rnb sounds). this group also has an older average age, which i love to see. their most recent mini, walking on the moon, was also very good, it gives got7/full8loom to me. my two wishes for them are 1.) to define their sound better and 2.) better album art.
fifty fifty's higher was like a sleeper agent and i found myself enjoying it more than anticipated at each listen. i LOVE their main vocal's tone. i need them to never ever ever do a song like log in ever ever again.
i was so impressed with yena! i wasnt an izone stan but i watched her debut on a whim and it really got me (it didn't hurt that her concept felt like the culmination of my "kpop-punk" predictions nearly two years ago at this point). her whole album is incredibly solid, and yueha did a fantastic job figuring out a unique concept that suits her. while i wasn't a fan of smartphone, i will definitely checking out her music!
throwbacks:
i won't say much here, even though it should technically be the biggest section. pado and eat my love (2021) were two of my biggest songs this year, they actually fit right in with new jeans and fifty fifty in my opinion. this year was the year i finally opened my eyes to taemin- i've always liked him, but for a few months in there criminal and advice were on repeatt. i also love the thirsty instrumental!
wayv...what to say about wayv. i'm truly hoping for the best from them but they worry me sometimes. i don't really trust their company to continue to pour into them unfortunately. but hey, at least i still have moonwalk! moonwalk is one of my favorite bg songs of all time and it's likely to stay that way for awhile :)
up next: playlists that defined my year!

Indie 5-0 with Erika Olson: Holiday Edition
Tumblr media
Erika Olson’s music and her kids have grown together. Motherhood gave birth to Erika’s artistry and reminded her that she was wild. She found that her roots were better suited to cracking concrete than climbing ladders. She found she was not born to follow rules that did not account for her. Rather, she was born to bewilder them.
Erika combines vulnerable vocals, contemporary storytelling, and musical influences spanning indie, folk, country, blues, Americana and pop. When pressed to describe her music, Erika likes to call it “folk with a beat.”
We spoke with Erika about her music, her holiday traditions, and her favorite holiday music! So, without further ado, let’s dive in:
What is your favorite holiday song and why?
Hello! Thank you so very much for giving me the chance to talk holiday fun with you! I love this time of year!! I was raised on Christmas music, growing up my mother would start listening to everything from the Nutcracker to Bing Crosby as soon as seasonally possible. We wore out multiple copies of Time Life’s Christmas Classic cassette tapes and CDs. Choosing a favourite holiday song is so hard because they all live together in my memory as one big sugary blur. But as I tease them apart there is no denying my absolute love and adoration for Skating by Vince Guaraldi Trio from A Charlie Brown Christmas. I have always been a sound track fan and it is possible I could trace those roots right down to Vince Guaraldi’s amazing jazz compositions. Guaraldi paints the picture of a winter wonderland evoking snow ball fights, snow angel making, ice skating, and sledding. When I want to remember what it feels like to go to sleep praying for a snow day – I need look no further than Skating.
What were the traditions around the holidays in your house growing up?
Christmas was a full contact sport in my house growing up.  I had three sisters and a mother who could do no wrong, so we started early and we ended strong! We’d start listening to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving, bake every Christmas cookie in the Joy of Cooking, decorate the house from tip to toe in lights and pine trees, start the season by watching White Christmas, sing our hearts out at midnight church service, strive for the honour of being the first to scout out Santa’s gifts without waking the rest of the house, eat as many sides as possible before being told to eat some turkey, play the newest Nintendo game until our thumbs blistered, and then when all the sides are gone, the cookies reduced to crumbs, and the Nintendo abandoned until next year, we’d sit down and watch It’s A Wonderful Life.
If you could record your dream holiday duet with anyone dead or alive what would it be?
My dream would be to record a holiday record with my family.  I sense there is some pent-up musical expression in my mother and three sisters and it would be so incredible to unleash that on a thoughtfully curated collection of holiday songs.  It would be made all the more meaningful to include my children as well. What is the first holiday track you ever learned?
O Holy Night is the first song I really got under my fingers when learning to play the guitar and it is still one of my most favourite songs to perform.
What are you currently working on? What can you tell us about it?
I am so excited to say I’ve nearly completed my debut album.  The last two songs are being mixed as we speak.  It will be coming out spring of next year.  It has been a lifetime in the making and I cannot wait to share it with the world!

bnha characters as swifties ~
— you convert them into swifties and there's no going back
characters: bakugo katsuki, todoroki shouto, yaoyorozu momo, jirou kyouka
warnings: swearing (bakugo's part)
notes: i don't know what came over me when i decided to write this,, happy 1 year of folklore ig ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Tumblr media
- bakugo katsuki -
katsuki would only know the name 'taylor swift'
he knows she's some famous celebrity, but he has no idea what she's known for : /
when you first introduce him to her discography, you started with her debut album and 'fearless.'
he didn't like it :') he said it was way too cheesy
katsuki also criticized how inaccurate love story was because romeo and juliet didn't end that way : |
he also despised the "shitty country music" pls never play 'our song' when he's nearby, he'll absolutely destroy whatever it is you're playing it from.
you then introduced him to the most successful album, 1989, hoping he'd at least give it a chance
no, he thought it was "hella annoying" 🙄
"YOU'RE TELLING ME 'ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STAY' AND 'I WISH YOU WOULD' AREN'T THE SAME FUCKING SONG? FUCK OFF."
but you persevere— you introduced more tracks, explained the lyrics to him, and you forced him to watch the reputation stadium tour on netflix.
he won't admit it openly, but he LOVES reputation.
he loves the new sound, the darker theme, and how edgy and angry it is.
his favorite songs are 'i did something bad' and 'don't blame me'
but he also secretly falls asleep to 'new year's day' 🥺
folklore enraged him in a good way,,
"FUCK JAMES, AUGUSTINE DESERVES BETTER."
and for the album red, "FUCK JAKE GYLLENHAAL, TAYLOR DESERVED BETTER."
this man will make a stan twitter account and demand a punk rock era from tswift because katsuki knows the queen is ✨versatile✨ and she can definitely thrive with a new sound like that 😌
- todoroki shouto -
"taylor swift??? what year and class is she in?"
"shouto— "
you need to present this boy a whole powerpoint presentation,, he badly needs it.
at first, he wouldn't mind the lyrics, he pays more attention to how it sounds.
he likes the mellow ones like 'begin again' 'untouchable' and most tracks from both sister albums, 'folklore' and 'evermore'
for some reason, he loved taylor's country music. those were actually the first songs he added to his playlist.
"it's a bop." he says this with a straight face and a monotonous voice 😐
then, you urged him to read and take in the lyrics, and shouto LOVED her as an artist a lot more.
he definitely cried to 'never grow up' :(((( he can't listen to it again though because he's afraid the song will lose its meaning if it was played too much.
he also appreciates 'seven' a lot. 'tolerate it' and 'soon you'll get better' reminded him of his mother :((
also, he always plays 'mad woman' when endeavor's nearby 💀
he turns up the volume when taylor sings, "does she smile... or does she mouth "fuck you forever. ~ "
he'd definitely buy a lot of merch from taylor, and he was very dismayed when the cardigans sold out before he got to buy one :(
he is very excited for red (taylor's version) and even marked november 19th on his calendar >:)
- yaoyorozu momo -
momo listened to taylor swift a lot when she was younger. she loved singing along to the album, 'fearless'
but she eventually phased out from her songs, not for any particular reason though.
she knows the famous singles like 'shake it off' and 'blank space' and she's mostly neutral about it.
so you force her back into the fandom by having her listen to her whole discography >:)
momo LOVES 'folklore' and 'evermore' this woman will break down the lyrics, analyze it, and upload long-ass essays about them.
"the lyrics are just absolutely exquisite! it's amazing how she manages to use a different sound each album and pull it of :)) you have my deepest gratitude, y/n for having me listen to such a beautiful masterpiece!"
she'll never stop gushing over the jamez-betty-augustine drama. she'll definitely be empathetic towards each one, but she does love augustine the most 😔
she understands james too though and loves 'this is me trying' :') she's not sure if she likes the song 'betty' tho 😧
you'd get under a blanket with momo and cry to 'champagne problems' and 'tolerate it' for fun.
"such a heartbreaking story..." she sniffles into a napkin.
momo was also inspired to write poems because of the two sister albums.
i don't think she'd be interested in taylor's dating life, but she does think it's amazing how you're able to witness the artist's growth by just listening to the songs she writes over the years :))
- jirou kyouka -
"of course i know taylor swift..." she looks to the side sheepishly. "i don't really like her."
"😦"
kyouka unfortunately thinks taylor swift is overrated </3
you can't really blame her though because apparently, she only knew her singles 😃 specifically, 'we are never going back together,' 'blank space, 'shake it off,' and 'ME!'
she says they're catchy but she doesn't really understand the hype.
so you make her understand >:)
you start with lover which later became her favorite album along with reputation and red.
she looves 'cruel summer' and she's angry that it wasn't a single in the album, she also loves the song, 'lover' she won't admit it but she thinks it's incredibly sweet and it makes her want to have a lovelife like taylor's.
she also loves 'the man' and she also sings the bridge of 'death by a thousand cuts' EVERYDAY.
kyouka will also make her own covers of taylor's older songs,, she'll make a cover of 'sparks fly' that sounds edgier. it sounds amazing 😌
she'll lie on her bed, and probably cry to 'superstar' thinking how sweet it would be if someone wrote a song about her like that :((
folklore and evermore aren't her favorites, but she adores the writing so much that it influenced hers.
kyouka will write a song for you out of gratitude for making her listen to the queen, miss swift 😌

oh, honey || h. styles
warnings: mentions of sex, kissing
word count: 2.3k
summary: when harry is struck with writer’s block, you come to the rescue and inspire him to write a song, which later becomes known as ‘adore you’...
Tumblr media
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t harbouring a crush on a man you’d known for about five years. And for four and half years of that, you found he was the only thing that seemed to occupy your mind. With any crush, it was fun at first. The thrill of being around him brought a new spark to your life. But then, gradually, it became tiresome; the constant butterflies and the overthinking every tiny action began to aggravate you.
You’d had a boyfriend since you met Harry. He loved you and you tried to love him. You knew it wasn’t fair on him, and you felt an ounce of extra guilt every day that relationship went on. You knew it was selfish to paint yourself a mirage of a perfect life with a man you knew you couldn’t love.
The relationship lasted eight months. It had never meant to last that long. At first, it was all fun and games - neither of you took things too seriously. A bit of harmless sex and late nights with red wine and David Attenborough documentaries. But then things took a turn, and he began talking of moving in together and meeting each other’s parents. Your parents would have loved him, you knew that. But what good was that when you didn’t love him?
Eventually, the two of you sat down and decided that maybe it was best if you went your separate ways. It was a mutual decision. And you both agreed that it was fun whilst it lasted. So, this relationship you’d gotten yourself into to get your mind off Harry had ended because you could never love this man the way he wanted you to.
It had been a rough eight months for you. Harry had been in somewhat of a mood with, well, everybody. Mitch concluded that he was probably just stressed with writing for the album and making sure everything was perfect for his debut solo album. But, though nobody necessarily picked up on it at the time, when you announced that you’d broken up with your boyfriend, Harry seemed to be in a much better mood ever since.
So, now, as you walked into the studio, you ran your hands along your jean-clad thighs. It was a desperate attempt to rid your palms of the sweat your nervousness had caused. Sarah had called you and asked if you were free to swing by the studio. She said something about needing a new mind to help Harry. Instantly, you agreed. You would always be there for Harry.
Sat on one of the couches was Harry Styles himself, his hand over his eyes. He was alone, his guitar beside him. A notebook of his lyrics was tossed aside, clearly neglected in tiredness or frustration. “Harry?” you called out, closing the door behind you.
He looked up quickly, startled by the sudden disturbance. “Y/N,” he smiled slightly, sitting up properly. “What are you doing here?”
“Thought you could use some help,” you shrugged, slipping out of your black puffer jacket. “And clearly you need it. Where is everyone?”
“Oh, they went to get some lunch at some place down the road,” he replied.
“And what about you? Aren’t you hungry? You need to eat, Harry.”
“I know. I will, I will. I’m just trying to finish this song, is all.”
You nodded slightly, sitting down in front of him on the coffee table. His hair was disheveled and his eyes were resting on top of dark bags. “Let me see,” you said, extending your hand.
Slowly, he placed the notebook into your hands. You stared down at the scribbled lyrics. Things were crossed out; things were circled; things were accompanied by little doodles. On the very top of the page, though, was the rushed title (above a few others, which had been crossed out): ADORE YOU. “I’m just gonna put it aside and come back to it,” he sighed. “Wanna get high? It always helps me write music.”
“No, Harry. I don’t want to get high with you. If you leave it, then you’ll never come back to it and nobody will ever get to hear it,” you replied.
“Except you. I want you to hear it,” he said quietly, so quiet, in fact, that you barely heard it.
He wasn’t looking at you, thankfully. At least he wouldn’t see the mix of nerves and excitement at what he’d just muttered. You shifted slightly, placing the notebook down beside you, “Well, then you’ll have to finish it, won’t you?”
Finally, he looked up at you. You felt tiny as his eyes explored your face, drinking in every last inch of your features. A small smile worked its way up onto his face, “I suppose I will.”
So, Harry began projecting his ideas onto you. He explained what the song was about and the kind of things he wanted to write. He sang the chorus to you, and you swore you melted right there and then. Hearing his voice fill the otherwise silent room you were in, with no other intent than to please you, filled your head with all sorts of fantasies. “It’s good, Harry. It’s really good,” you nodded, smiling sweetly at him.
“Obviously not good enough if I can’t think of anything other than the first verse and the chorus,” he groaned, raking his long fingers through his unruly hair.
In a moment of fleeting confidence, you reached out and squeezed Harry’s hand. He looked up at you, his green lagoons of eyes staring directly into your own. “Harry, stop. You’re doing yourself no good thinking like that. No songs start out as the greatest thing ever written; you have to put time and care and effort into them,” you said gently. “Let me help, Harry. I don’t want you to go through this alone.”
He nodded, squeezing your hand in return. He pulled out a pen and stared expectantly at you. You smiled - you were happy he was willing to let you help. “What did you have in mind?” he asked, eager to hear a new outlook on these lyrics he had grown sick of reading over and over again.
“Well,” you began, “it obviously has a sort of ethereal vibe to it. So, summer skies? Like, maybe something about ‘you under summer skies’?”
He nodded slowly, absorbing your suggestion. Until, suddenly, his eyes lit up. You knew the look. You’d seen it many a time before. It was the look he adopted whenever he’d been struck by the perfect slice of inspiration he needed to write an incredible piece of music. “You, Y/N, are a bloody genius! ‘Your wonder under summer skies’,” he grinned.
He scribbled the lyric down desperately. You couldn’t help but admire him as ideas escaped his brain and fell onto the paper before him. He finally looked back up at you, the page now littered with prompts and snippets of lyrics. “Thanks, Y/N. You’re a lifesaver,” he said.
You chuckled, “I didn’t do anything.”
“Well, you didn’t do anything for my other songs but they exist because of you,” he rushed out, clearly not comprehending his words. “Shit. Sorry, that- that didn’t mean to come out.”
You smirked. You had the power now, after four and a half years of falling in love with Harry Styles and making a massive fool of yourself in front of him. He’d slipped up and now you were in control. “Yeah? What songs did I unknowingly contribute to?” your confidence was rare, especially when it came to things like this, and yet here it was.
Unfortunately for you, Harry’s natural confidence matched your own. A playful grin swept up his features as he said, “Wouldn’t it be more fun for you to listen to the album and figure it out for yourself?”
“Or you could just tell me the titles?” you asked, your tone hopeful.
He hesitated for a moment, his confident smirk faltering for a split second. But, before you had time to say anything else, he said, “There’s this song called Sunflower, Vol. 6. I wrote that because your favourite flowers are sunflowers. And I wrote Cherry because I know you love cherries. And then there’s Golden, because that’s what you are, Y/N. And then there’s Watermelon Sugar because I know that In Watermelon Sugar is your favourite book. And now Adore You, because, I swear to God, Y/N, that’s all I want to do.”
He was rambling and you couldn’t help but smile. Whilst you’d spent your days rambling to your friends about how you were convinced you’d remain single forever if he didn’t happen to fall hopelessly in love with you, it appeared that he’d been writing down all the tiny details about you in his songs. Because it was true: sunflowers were your favourite flowers and cherries were your favourite fruit and In Watermelon Sugar was your favourite book.
He was staring at you now, his eyes searching your face for some sort of a hint on how you were feeling. When you said nothing, your lips parted slightly, he went on, “Hell, I wrote Cherry years ago. I wrote it when you were dating that guy... what was his name?”
“Ollie,” you replied quietly.
He knew what his name was. He never forgot. It had been two years but he’d never forgotten the eight months of hell where he had to watch you cuddle up to him and take him home after your group of friends had gone out for drinks. He didn’t know why he wanted to hear you say his name again. Some sadistic form of self-torture maybe, hearing another boy’s name on your lips. “Yeah, Ollie,” he played it off as if he really had forgotten your ex boyfriend’s name. “I wrote it when you were dating him. And I’ve been sitting on it for two years because I thought if I released it then you would know I’ve been in love with you for four years. But then I just thought ‘you know what, fuck it’, so I’m putting it on the album. And Anna, that was about you. But I’ll never officially release that one. Because I wrote it one night when I was alone and I couldn’t get you out of my head and I needed to tell somebody how I felt about you. Even if that was just a bit of paper. But then I played it to you, do you remember? And you loved it, so I swore to never release it because it felt like I’d confessed to you how I felt.”
As you listened to him ramble away about all of these songs he’d written about you and how much you clearly meant to him, you couldn’t help but smile. You’d dreamed of Harry confessing how much he, well, adored you. And you’d only ever thought it would be an occurrence in your fantastical dreams, and yet here he was, staring back at you, rambling on about how much he loved you. “Wait, Harry,” you spoke up, “isn’t ‘watermelon sugar’ something to do with oral sex?”
You chuckled as he flushed, “That’s besides the point.”
“And what is the point?”
“That I’m in love with you and, I pray to God, you’re in love with me back.”
Overwhelmed with joy, you couldn’t help but throw yourself at Harry. The feeling of his hands around your waist in a way that wasn’t just a slightly prolonged hug goodbye after a night out or a slightly overly flirtatious gesture of Harry’s felt electric. Harry’s hands on you in a way that was meant to be a moment of appreciation shared between two lovers was how it was always supposed to be.
After so long of knowing one another, falling for each other and sharing life changing moments, everything was finally slipping into place. You’d been there when One Direction first began their hiatus. You’d been there when he cut his hair off. You’d been there when he went to Jamaica to write his first solo album. You’d been there, albeit your eyes were shut most of the time, when he was dangling a thousand feet in the air for the Sign of the Times music video shoot. He’d been there when you finished university. He’d been there when you lost your mum. He’d been there when your sister had her first child. He’d been your date to your brother’s wedding. All of these things, and you couldn’t help but feel they mounted to this very moment.
You pulled your head back, admiring his face for a moment. Your arms were around his neck and everything just felt... right. His smile was bright and his eyes were full of nothing but loving joy. Without another moment’s hesitation, your lips were on his. You weren’t sure who leaned forward, but all you knew was that this was what you’d been waiting for for almost five years. And, now you were here, showing Harry how much you loved him, the wait seemed worth it. “We’ve got so much time to make up for,” he whispered.
“Good thing we’ve got all the time in the world then, isn’t it?”
He grinned, embracing your body. All he’d wanted to do for four years was to praise it. And now he finally had the chance to. That was until the two of you heard a voice behind you, “We only left for lunch!”

Hai g, number 14 please? :))
For you wenz, you can have anything 🥰 more soft mini fic coming up!!
14. "Please tell me, this is not why you woke me up."
“Beca! Becs, wake up!”
Beca groaned loudly as Chloe shook her, grabbing her pillow and using it to try and swat Chloe away.
“Nooo... dude this is my first day off in months, let me sleepppp...”
“Becaaaa!” Chloe whined, grabbing her pillow from her and tossing it aside as she began to tickle her ribs, Beca grumbling before starting to giggle helplessly.
“Chloe... Chlo, okay okay stop, I’m up, I’m up!” Beca giggled slapping at Chloe’s hands, pouting as Chloe stopped, her brow furrowed, “What do you want, I was sleepinggg.”
“I know, I know, but I have to show you this!” Chloe’s eyes were glittering with excitement as she flopped down on the bed next to Beca, who was decidedly less grumpy once she curled into her side and rested her head on her shoulder.
Chloe pulled her phone out of her pocket and clicked play on the video she had pulled up. Beca’s frown deepened as she watched two guys begin to play out the chorus line from Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up and turned her head to look at Chloe.
"Please tell me, this is not why you woke me up." She raised her eyebrow as Chloe giggled and shook her head.
“No it’s not, but I just wanted to see your face if I put this on first.” Chloe smiled innocently as Beca shook her head.
“You’re such a dick.” Beca rolled her eyes, trying to turn over on her side, “I’m going back to sleep.”
“Nooo!” Chloe pouted, holding tight to Beca’s waist to stop her from turning, “I’m sorry, I’ll show you what I meant to now!”
“Fine.” Beca sighed dramatically, grinning down at her girlfriend. She could never really stay mad at her, she was just too darn adorable.
“Okay, here, this is it!” Chloe wriggled in the bed so that she was as close to Beca as possible, biting her lip a little as she hit play.
Beca watched wide-eyed as her debut album was declared to have been nominated for not one, not two, but THREE FREAKIN’ GRAMMIES, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Beca sat bolt upright, Chloe’s phone gripped tight in her hands as she stared at the video in disbelief.
No
Freakin’.
Way.
“I got nominated?!” Beca managed to squeak, turning to Chloe who was beaming with pride.
“You got nominated.” Chloe nodded, yelping as Beca pounced on her and started to pepper kisses all over her face.
“I got nominated for three freakin’ Grammies!” Beca cried, Chloe giggling as she cupped Beca’s face in her hands and pulled her into a deep kiss.
“You got nominated Becs.” Chloe breathed as the kiss broke apart, “I knew you would, your album was amazing!”
“I wouldn’t have had it without you.” Beca shook her head, eyes glittering with emotion as she straddled Chloe’s waist, face cupped in her hands, “You are my muse Chloe Beale, every minute with you is like a dream, all those crummy love songs start to make sense and I just want to spend forever drowning in those impossibly blue eyes of yours.”
“Beca...” Chloe bit her lip as her eyes started to brim with tears, “I love you so much. But all this success that you’ve had? That’s on you. Because you’re incredible at what you do.”
“Marry me.” Beca breathed, Chloe’s eyes widening in shock, “Wait, no. Shit. I’m doing this wrong... hang on...”
Beca scrambled from on top of Chloe and pulled open the drawer of their bedside table, fumbling as she pulled a small black box from it and got down on one knee next to the bed. It was Chloe’s turn to sit bolt upright, hand covering her mouth as her eyes fell on the sparkling diamond ring Beca was offering her.
“Chloe Beale.” Beca grinned, tears slipping down her cheeks as she tried to swallow the lump in her throat, “I love you. So damn much. I feel like I should be saying something deep and profound but all I have is ‘I love you’. I hope that’s okay. Chlo, will you marry me?”
“Yes. Yes, yes!” Chloe dove off the bed and into Beca’s arms, Beca chuckling as Chloe covered her in tearful kisses.
“I love you Chlo.” Beca cupped Chloe’s face in her hands again as they lay in a heap on the floor, the ring set to one side next to them for a moment as they simply enjoyed the moment.
“I love you too Becs.” Chloe ran her hand through Beca’s hair, “My beautiful, talented, Grammy award winning fiancée.”
“I’ve only been nominated!” Beca raised her eyebrow and rolled her eyes.
“Oh you’re gonna win.” Chloe mused, humour and adoration making her eyes sparkle, “I know you are.”
“You agreed to marry me. As far as I’m concerned I’ve just won the greatest prize in the world.” Beca grinned, taking the ring from the box and sliding it onto Chloe’s ring finger.
“You’re such a dork.” Chloe chuckled, shaking her head as she kissed Beca again.
“Only for you Beale. Only for you.” Beca mumbled against Chloe’s lips.
“Aren’t you glad I woke you up now?” Chloe beamed as she pulled away from the kiss.
“Chloe, you can wake me up to tell me I’ve been nominated for Grammys any day of the week.” Beca laughed, Chloe rolling her eyes at Beca this before kissing her again. She was marrying a dork, and she wouldn’t change her for the world.
Dklshgsdlfsfhfd this ended up wayyy softer than I meant it too, I apologise for any cavities that were caused in the reading of this fic 😂

My top 15 Girl Group/Solo songs (2021)
Remember guys, this is just my personal list.  Let me know what yours are! Love sharing music with eachother etc so let’s all just have fun.
TOP 15
1. Next Level - Aespa May 17th
Tumblr media
Might be a bit unexpected, I don’t really talk about Aespa on this blog, HOWEVER. I would be lying if I said, I don’t know all the lyrics and the whole choreography. Pretty sure my mom knows the lyrics, I play it so much. So Aespa ate this up and I think it’s deserving of number 1 for me. Aespa have the power to take sounds that I never in a million years would enjoy and make me enjoy them.
2. Zombie - Purple Kiss (Hide & Seek) September 8th
Tumblr media
I needed this song so bad, you don’t understand. i love intense music but I really needed a break from heavy drops and seriousness. THen Purple Kiss decided to drop the most fun song. I love the colors, the campy music video, Swan’s voice and the choreography. It’s just so fun and it was on repeat for me for a while. Cast pearls before swine and ZzZz are great b-sides off the album.
3. Unnatural - WJSN (Unnatural) March 31st
Tumblr media
I really practice my vocals when listening to this song, trying to match Yeonjung’s range lmao. I love this song so much. The choreography where they point and pat the air next to them is so iconic to me. I adore it so much. Sadly I haven’t checked out the album (shame I know, i will eventually) but it says enough that this song is so high when i haven’t even listened to the album. Stan WJSN for clean skin.
4. I’m Not Cool - HyunA (I’m Not Cool) January 28th
Tumblr media
HYUNAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Look Hyuna was the first woman in K-pop I ever listened too. I have such a special place in my heart for her. So when she dropped this banger I had it on repeat. The outfits, the drop, the choreo, it radiates Hyuna. She’s weird and fun and everything I wanna be so she dropped this and I was so incredibly happy. I recommend: Good Girl and Party, Feel, Love (Ft. Dawn) on the album.
5. We Go - Fromis_9 (9 way ticket) May 17th
Tumblr media
The most fun girlgroup summer song. The definition of a fun summer song. It reminds me of editing my vacation pictures, it reminds me of driving down to the beach with the windows rolled down. The girls all looked so cute too and the song is so good and upbeat. The concept photos were also amazing and managed to incorporate covid related things without depressing me. Airplane Mode is such a fun song too!
6. First - Everglow (Last Melody) May 25th
Tumblr media
Girl groups who dress like they’re in Star Wars, they win. Everglow is the winner winner winner. First has so many things I like about it. THe outfits, the heavy drop, the futuristic vibe, the special effects, THE CHOREOGRAPHY. Everglow truly never disappoint. I listen to this song so much. Don’t ask don’t tell is also a great song.
7. Alcohol Free - Twice (Taste of Love) June 11th
Tumblr media
Fun fact: I didn’t like this song at first and now it’s probably my most listened to Twice song. I thought it sounded like a travel agency commercial and now I love it so much it’s hysterical. All the girls look so incredibly stunning, I love summer concepts on them the most. They always look like they’re glowing. Nayeon really stood out to me in this one though, she looked so beautiful. Aside from that the song is just really fun. Scandal and Conversation are my fav b-sides on the album.
8. Love so Sweet - Cherry Bullet (Cherry Rush) January 20th
Tumblr media
FNC give these girls a comeback thank you very much. This is the first Cherry Bullet song that grabbed me and pulled me in. I get it stuck in my head soooo much and I think about Remi 24/7. The choreography is so fun, it’s such a lowkey song. I adore. Keep Your Head Up is my favorite b-side on the album and deserving of it’s own album. Stan Cherry Bullet!!!!
9. BEcause - Dreamcatcher (Summer Holiday) july 30th
Tumblr media
BEcause I like Dreamcatcher all of their songs are a hit. This one reminded me of Dreamcatcher debut era a little more than their more recent comebacks and I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. Not to mention HANDONG, thank you that is all.... OH, Airplane is my favorite b-side, it’s cute and fresh.
10. Savage - Aespa (Savage) October 5th
Tumblr media
Aespa, my girls. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy Aespa as much as I do, really. I heard about their concept pred-debut and got really concerned but I ended up really, really, really liking them. Their album was phenomonal too. It showed really fun sides to their music. So it’s natural for this one to be on the list too. Aenergy and Yeppi Yeppi are my most listened to b-sides on the album. Yeppi Yeppi really being my favorite.
11. Queendom - Red Velvet (Queendom) August 16th
Tumblr media
Red Velvet finally came back. Alot of people didn’t think it was worth the wait, but I did.I love that they came back with the red concept. I love Queendom so much, it’s such an empowering song. Not to mention they all looked so cute and their outfits were so adorable and the whole little witchy concept was so great. Pose was the best song on the album to me.
12. Chi Mat Ba Ram - Brave Girls (Summer Queens) June 17th
Tumblr media
We are gonna be summer queens! The title is up for grabs so I’m totally okay with them taking the title. I love songs like this so summery and fun. I’m so glad Brave Girls is getting the recognition they deserve, I really hope it lasts. Pool Party (ft. E-Chan) and Summer By Myself are my favorite songs on the album. Brave Girls man, just love that they’re doing the damn thing.
13. Odd Eye - Dreamcatcher (Dystopia: Road to Utopia) Januray 26th
Tumblr media
DREAMCATCHER!!!!!!!! Okay Handong coming back was such a blessing. Odd Eye is such a bop and blonde Siyeon was such a serve. Dreamcatcher always serve though, the rock elements in their songs always hit so hard. Odd eye was a great addition to their Dystopia series. Poison Love  is my favorite b-side off the album.
14. Hwaa - (G)i-dle (I burn) January 11th
Tumblr media
One of the first (G)i-dle songs that instantly got me. I think the concept is just so stunning and they all looked beautiful. I think I loved the traditional vibes in this song the most, it just really got me. I adore how Minnie and Miyeon’s voices sounded in this song. I didn’t listen to the album so I can’t recommend b-sides, but check it out regardless.
15. Red Lipstick (ft. Yoonmirae) - Lee Hi (4 Only) September 9th
Tumblr media
Misses Lee Hi returned and dropped this banger. This is my dance in the shower song tbh. Her voice is just unmatched and disco suits her so well. Not to mention Yoonmirae’s great addition in the song, they should collaborate wayyyyy more often. Savior (ft. B.I) and Only  are great songs on the album.
Favorite Debuts
Purple Kiss ‘Ponzona’ March 15th
Tumblr media
They served creepy, vocals and a not intense in your face drop and I loved it. Swan I want your hand in marriage for your vocals in this song. It’s laced with crack.
Pixy ‘Wings’ February 24th
Tumblr media
They served creepy, vocals and an intense drop with screams in it. Look I love creepy girls and they freak me out so it’s great. All of their releases have been sooooo amazing so far, so I’m curious to see how they’ll continue.
Rosé ‘Gone’ March 12th
Tumblr media
Controversial but I love Gone soooooo much more than On the Ground. I love her voice and the feeling this song gives me. Not to mention the whole vibes of music video and how pretty she looked. There’s so much raw emotion in it that it qualifies for my favorite solo debut.

a letter to rihanna’s music
I’ve never written a “love letter” before or anything like it. I’ve never even written one to the guy I had the (dis)pleasure of calling my first love. I think this will probably end up being more of a thank you letter now that I’m starting to actually write it. In order to understand why I’m writing this, I want to explain where my appreciation for Rihanna’s music came from and what it’s eventually turned into.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love music and how deeply connected to it I am. I’ve discovered so many incredible artists and genres in my life that have not only touched me but have changed and shaped who I am as I’ve become a young woman. I’m grateful to have been introduced to the greats at such a young age by my mom, and I’ve always loved asking her what it was like when they debuted or when they were at the peak of their careers. Despite loving these indescribable talents like Michael, Janet, Madonna and Aaliyah for example…I wasn’t born when they debuted or even at the height of their success. Because of this, I wasn’t able to see the way the world embraced and reacted to their music in real time. That’s where their music and Rihanna’s music differs for me.
I was 7 years old when Rihanna debuted. My friends and I adored her, and I remember singing SOS in the car with them. Of course, we didn’t have “access” to celebrities back then the way we do now, so I didn’t know much about her until I got older, but there’s so much I actually remember seeing and hearing when I look back at videos and clips now from that time. I didn’t realize it then or even in the years to follow that I was witnessing the kind of monstrous career that I used to ask my mom about and what an immeasurable impact it had on me as I looked up to Rihanna as she, and I, got older.
Since Rihanna has been in my life for OVER half of it, her music has been with me through every single pivotal moment I’ve gone through growing up. Just hearing a certain song can bring me back to a specific moment in time, and I think most people who have been fans of her since the beginning can relate to that. I feel as if there’s a Rihanna song for every situation, every emotion and even every environment. She reminds me of alternative artists in that way because they’re able to create these things just through the way their music can make you feel like the Kevin Parker’s or the Daughter’s of the world. Her tone and her ability to emote brings a level of magic to a song that only she’s capable of. Not only is she able to deliver the message she’s trying to convey, but she truly means and becomes the lyrics she’s singing, and that’s why I feel like she’s always been able to connect to her fans the way she has, especially me.
I have a new level of appreciation for Rihanna’s music these days that I didn’t have when I was younger. I think part of it is because we’ve had a lot of time to listen to her discography since her last album, and that’s how you start picking up on things you never noticed. A lot of her lyrics resonate with me now in a way they didn’t before, and they started to make a lot more sense. It reminds me of the way I feel about Janet Jackson’s discography as well. She was (and still is) so young and her music was almost like a diary. It was an outlet where she could be vulnerable, authentic, raw…she was going through what all young women go through, and I didn’t even realize it until I was older and started going through it myself. It’s confusing, it’s scary, it’s lonely, it’s sad. It feels like it’s so many things and nothing at all once. It takes a lot to put how you’re feeling into words, I can’t imagine the strength it takes to express and reveal it in music that the world will end up hearing. I’m grateful that she was able to.
To Rihanna’s Music:
Thank you for being the soundtrack to my life. You’ve taught me and continue to teach me how to be unapologetic and authentic as I enter new chapters of my life and to embrace and accept the mistakes I make as part of the process. Thank you for being there throughout some of my lowest moments and being there when I was finally able to pull myself out of them. Thank you for introducing me to so many incredible people around the world whose friendships I cherish. Most significantly, thank you of giving me the gift of discovering my favorite artist and my greatest inspiration. I’m so grateful to be able to share this life with someone as wonderful as Rihanna which all started when I was only 7 years old, listening to Pon De Replay for the first time.
To Rihanna’s music…
I miss you.

:BTS OT7 Reaction:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were nervous getting ready that morning for the fansign and you didn’t really understand why. You were still a month away from your due date, but you just had a weird feeling about today. You just chalked it up to nerves from finally getting to meet your favorite group and got ready to head out the door.
As you all were herded into the room to wait in line for the members you felt some discomfort in your stomach. You rested your hand on there and rubbed gently over it. You felt your daughter kick up into your hand and smiled. Your baby was okay, maybe a little bit more active today than usual and that was why your stomach was feeling weird. As the members came in and sat at their chairs everyone clapped and cheered loudly. They all smiled and waved but when Namjoon and Hoseok spotted you their smiles turned even wider and waved more enthusiastically. You didn’t understand why. You had never met them before. Did they have you confused with someone else? You snapped back out of your thoughts and waved shyly back. The line started to move and you began feeling some pain in your stomach. It was minor, nothing really alarming. But you felt your heart rate pick up slightly in worry.
Oh please not here baby, just hold off at least until the signing is over.
You know she can’t read your thoughts but hope that some force in the universe is listening to you so you don’t go into labor right now. You approach Namjoon first and his dimples are on full display as he smiles at you.
“Hi! What’s your name?”
“It’s y/n.”
“It’s so nice to meet you. I hope this isn’t weird to say but you are absolutely glowing! When are you due?”
“Oh you really think so? Thank you so much. I’m due in just over a month actually. Although I have a sneaking suspicion she’s coming earlier than I thought.” His eyes widen at that.
“Like here? Now?! Oh my gosh do you need me to call someone?” You laugh and shake your head at his slightly panicked expression.
“No no it’s fine. I didn’t mean now. Thank you for your concern though.” He nods and smiles at you again.
“Well I wish you the best. You and your baby.” He signs your album and passes it down to Hoseok next who’s absolutely beaming at you.
“Hello! Oh my goodness you look adorable. And hello little one!” He waves at your stomach. “Are you having a boy or a girl?”
“A girl.”
“Did you name her yet?”
“Hmm nope. I have an idea, but I think the final name will come to me after she’s born and I can see her.” Hoseok smiles and signs your album you see what he’s written and feel a warmth spreading in your chest.
To y/n and her little one! I hope you grow up happy and fill the world with hope.
“Hoseok that is so sweet. Thank you.”
Yoongi is next and he barely gets a hello out before a sharp pain wracks through your stomach. You double over in pain. Yoongi shoots out of his chair and places a hand on your back.
“Hey, are you okay?”
You shake your head and he waves the staff over. But before any can reach you, you feel your water break. Yoongi’s eyes widen.
“Oh my gosh. You’re going into labor. Oh god what do I do?!” He looks to Namjoon for help who’s eyes are just as surprised as his. He walks over to you with a few staff members and they help guide you to a back room away from the prying eyes of the fans. Yoongi tries to shuffle back with you but the staff tell him to sit. He grumbles in frustration and sits back down, nervously biting his nails as he’s worried about you. He heard you tell Namjoon your baby wasn’t due for another month. Were you and your baby okay?
You sit on a couch and groan loudly in pain again as another contraction hits. You don’t realize that you’re squeezing the life out of Namjoon’s hand until he makes a hiss in pain. You immediately let go.
“Sorry!”
“No no it’s okay. The staff called an ambulance for you they should be here any minute.”
“I don’t think she’s going to wait another minute, Namjoon.”
He looks at your stomach and points his finger at your belly.
“Hey! Listen little princess. I know you want to make your grand entrance early but at least wait until you get to the hospital! Do your mom a favor okay?” You laugh at that but it’s quickly cut off by another pained noise.
“Namjoon! EMS is here now they’ll take y/n to the hospital." Everything happens so fast you don’t even register you’re in the ambulance until you go over a bump and another painful contraction hits. You also didn’t notice Namjoon asking the staff which hospital they were taking you to.
Tumblr media
Shortly after you had arrived to the hospital you had given birth to a healthy baby girl. She looks just like you. She doesn’t cry very much as she is instantly soothed and stops crying once she is placed in your arms. You feel tears welling up in your eyes as you glance down at her, already so in love with her and wanting to do everything you can to make sure she grows up happy and healthy. You thought back to the message Hoseok had wrote for you in your album and can’t help but think that you picked the perfect name for her. You are singing softly to her under your breath when there is a knock on your door. Your nurse comes in with a confused look on her face.
“Um.. miss y/n? There is group of guys here to see you. Um.. 7 of them? Actually BTS is here to see you? I don’t even- Okay sorry I was just so flustered seeing all of them walk in. But they want to visit you should I let them?”
Now it’s your turn to be confused. You tilt your head but nod slowly. A few moments later you see Hoseok pop his head in.
“Hey Mama!” He sings at you and you can’t help but immediately laugh. Your baby starts to fuss in your arms and Hoseok slaps a hand over his mouth and whispers out a sorry. He approaches you and looks down at your little girl sleeping happily on your chest.
“She’s so cute!” Soon all of the members peek their heads in and wave, smiling fondly at the two of you.
Jimin walks in with a giant bouquet of flowers in his hand, Jungkook has a pink bear and Taehyung has a bouquet of pink balloons. They all set the gifts beside you on the table and you feel tears immediately welling up in your eyes.
“You guys.. you didn’t have to come here and you especially didn’t have to get me anything!” Jin grabs a tissue and lightly pats your eyes with it to dry your tears since your arms are full with your daughter.
“Nonsense. Of course we had to come and check on you and make sure you were okay. We all were worried when you went into labor. Poor Yoongi over here I think nearly chewed all his nails off because he was so nervous.”
“Shut up, hyung I did not. I just... didn’t want anything bad to happen to her or the baby if she didn’t make it to the hospital in time.”
“I guess my stern talking to worked.” Namjoon puffs out his chest proudly and you giggle quietly.
“Thank you all so much. Really. This means so much to me you don’t understand I wish I could repay your kindness.”
“You don’t have to thank us, really.” Namjoon says.
“Actually there is something you can do.” Taehyung says. You lift your eyebrow at him in question. “Sends lots of baby photos! And pictures of you too. We want to watch your little one grow up too. I know it might seem weird since we just met and all but, this baby is special to us too since you’re our fan and almost gave birth at our fan meet! I think it’s like a sign or something.” You feel fresh tears pooling in your eyes that the boys already care about you and your baby so much even if they only spoke a few words to you.
“Yeah! I agree with Taehyungie. Please let us still see her! Maybe even visit every once in a while. We can be like, her cool but overprotective uncles.” Jimin says with a giggle.
“And I can give you some of the baby shoes in my studio!” Namjoon offers.
“You guys stop you’re going to make me cry again!” Jin wipes at your eyes again and you thank him. “I would love to. My phone is in my purse just put your contact numbers in there.” Jungkook walks over and grabs your phone. He smiles when he sees Hoseok’s photo card in the back of it.
“Ah, so we all know now who your bias is.” He flashes the phone so the other members can see and you blush madly.
“Don’t get me wrong! I always switch out my photocards because I don’t have a bias. You guys are all so sweet in your own ways and are funny and incredibly handsome. I couldn’t possibly pick a bias.” They all smile at that but Hoseok speaks up from the seat next to your bed.
“But we all know I’m your favorite. It’s okay I won’t tell them.” He winks at you and you can’t help the chuckle that escapes you.
“Hey, noona what’s the password for your phone?” Jungkook asks.
“The day you debuted. 061313.” Jungkook smiles at that and puts the code in. He passes it around to the other members and they all put their number in. Yoongi is the last to and he creates a group chat for you and the other members.
“There. Now we can all see whatever photos you want to share with us.”
“Can we take one with you now?” Taehyung asks with his eyes shining.
“Sure. Can you ask my nurse to come in and take it for us?”
A few moments later you are surrounded by all of them and the photo is taken. You share it with the group chat and they all coo over how cute you and your baby look.
“By the way what did you name her?” Namjoon asks.
“Oh.. well I named her Hope. Because that’s what you all have given me. When I was struggling in my pregnancy and darkness threatened to take over I would listen to your music and I immediately was filled with happiness and hope. And also because whenever I played Hoseok’s mixtape she always seemed to be the most active and it felt like she was dancing in my stomach. Plus I also kind of thought it was very fitting too because of what Hoseok wrote in my album.”
Hoseok pumps his fist in the air. “Ha! I told you I was the favorite! I’m gonna be the favorite uncle you hear that?”
“No fair! You don’t know who she’s gonna like best. She’s a baby!” Jin argues. You watch them all bicker amongst themselves and can’t help but laugh and feel a fondness blooming in your chest watching them all.
“Why do I feel like I now am going to have 8 children in my life?” You ask Namjoon who has been quietly watching them with the same fond expression on his face.
“7 children. Don’t include me in on their chaos.” You laugh at that and Namjoon brings his hand over to gently run his hand over your daughter’s head.
“Hope is a good name. It suits her. You’re going to be a great mother y/n.”
“Thank you. That means a lot to me.”
“And I know we don’t know each other very well yet but I hope we can all change that. And if you ever need help with anything just let any of us know.”
“Okay. I will.”
“I’ll take the kids home. You go ahead and get some rest. We’ll come back and see you tomorrow?” He says it as a question, leaving the option for you to say no.
“I would love that.”
