The stars that missed The Sun

Warning- arrange marriage, cute stuff.
A/N- Hey guys I'm sorry this took so long I had to rewrite this a few times. I'm not sure how I feel about this chapter but I hope you guys like this
Part one, Part two
Chapter three
Over the last few weeks, Nyx has been amazing, kind, and patient. I couldn’t even repay him in a hundred years. So then, what are we waiting for? Every night I would go to my bed, and he would go to his. There was something in me that I couldn’t quite place, something that always found its way back, that feeling of not knowing if he was even interested in me at all, and maybe he wasn't. Maybe he was only interested in this marriage to be a friendship, and when the time came, I would give him heirs. Would he have a mistress to satisfy him, and would I have mine? I couldn’t get a read on him or his feelings. I couldn't even understand what I felt, but the thought of Nyx having a mistress made me nauseous and unsettled.
Nyx’s family had their monthly dinner tonight. All of us gathered at the river house. I was getting out of the tub and into my bedroom to get ready for the evening, where I saw a dress laid out for me with a note.
Since you loved Abrail’s dresses so much, I had her make you more. I thought this one would be perfect for dinner. -Nyx,
I smiled. I put my dress and jewelry on and couldn’t wait to show him; I didn’t think to knock on his door, so I walked right in.
“This dress is-” I hadn’t even made it through the door frame. I stopped every thought because of the sight in front of me. He had just gotten out of the bath with only his underwear on. He was in the middle of putting his pants on. I watched as he slipped them on and bottomed them. My eyes made their way up from his torso to his tattooed chest and, finally, met his eyes and smile that held too much amusement.
“It’s not polite to stare, you know,” he said as he pulled his shirt over his head and found his jacket.
“I… I… I just wanted to say thank you,” I stumbled over the words.
“For the dress or the sneak peek,” he smirked at me.
“We are going to be late,” I tried to change the subject. But, instead, he raised an eyebrow, and I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to school my face into something neutral.
He had finished putting his shoes on and walking up to me as if sizing me up for a fight. He leaned against the doorframe a mere inch away from me.
“Don’t look at me like that firefly” he leaned in close as if to kiss me.
“Like what?” my voice barely came out as a whisper.
“As if you want me” He knew the effect he was having on me, and he didn’t care; I didn’t care all I knew was that I became all too aware of my body. I stayed silent.
“Well, do you?” he asked, still close to me.
“Do I what?” I wasn’t even sure I was speaking.
“Want me?” he said. I wanted to lean in and kiss those lips once again to taste them. His lips brushed past mine, just a small graze.
“But you’re right, we will be late” he changed his tone and smiled in my direction, moving around me to leave his room. I stood there in shock, not knowing what to do.
- - - - - - – - - - - - - -
We had winnowed into his parent’s home. I moved from his arms. After what happened to be that close to him wouldn’t be a good idea, especially with his parents in the other room. I looked around the foyer that we had landed in. I hadn’t been to his parent’s home before. The front entrance opens to a grand hall with winding staircases to the upper levels of the house. Everything was so beautiful in the way it was decorated. A family portrait of everyone hung there. My brother was even in it, and then another of just the High lord, High lady, and their kids, but there were small paintings in frames on the entry table. One stuck out to me, though. It was a baby boy sitting on a deep blue blanket with a head raven black hair and blue eyes with the chunkiest of smiles that was nothing but gums.
“Is this you?” I asked Nyx. as I picked up the photo to take a better look.
“You were so chunky. Oh my gods, look at those rolls,” I gleamed as he chuckled beside me.
“He was the greediest of my children, which would explain those cheeks,” The voice came from behind me. I turned to see High lady Feyre and High lord Rhysand approaching us.
“I’m afraid not much has changed. You should see how much he eats for breakfast alone,” I joke. He smiled down at me, pulling me to his side. Rhysand had looked at me with a puzzled look, then back at his son, who only nodded—nodded at what? Were they having a conversion within their minds? Feyre looked at Rhysand once again. Her eyes widened, but she composed herself as if trying not to give away her excitement. I looked up at Nyx. to see if I could read his face but nothing.
“Are we going to eat or what? I’m starving over here” Cassian entered and broke up whatever was happening. Feyre chuckled, and Rhysand shook his head.
“I would hurry. Morrigan has already started on the wine.”Amren made her way over and looked me up and down. I didn’t flinch under her gaze as she looked back at Nyx and me.
“Well, come along between Cassian and Mor. If we don’t hurry, there won’t be any food or wine left for the rest of us.” Rhysand led us into the dining room; I sat across from Nyx on the couches, who gave me a flirtatious smirk. My thoughts drifted, and I thought about his lips again and the sight of his body and what I wanted to do with it. I shift in my seat carefully and calm my body in this room full of fae before they catch wind of desire through my smell and thoughts.
Don’t worry, firefly. Only I can hear your naughty thoughts. I made sure of it. He was having a conversation with Nesta, who was next to him. While I was still standing by the window. You couldn’t even tell that he was in my mind. I felt the heat rise in my cheeks, but I wouldn’t let him see that I was affected by him again, so I kept my tone as unbothered as possible.
That is the first time tonight that you have been a gentleman.
You are right that I was rude to leave things like I’m sorry earlier. How would you like me to make it up to you?
A smile made its way to my lips as the perfect opportunity came.
I can think of a few ways. So that’s what I did; I imagined me and Nyx intertwined with nothing between us, his lips on my skin trailing kisses down my neck to my breasts as he moved lower and lower.
That’s cruel of you, firefly. His tone in my mind grew dark. I was pleased with myself, smiling as I picked up and drank from my glass. Nyx’s presence left my mind. That’s when his siblings and cousins came in.
“There’s my new sister,” A girl with blonde hair and Violet eyes embraced me in a soul-crushing hug.
“You’re about to break your new sister Astrid,” another girl said; she had dark brown hair and steel blue eyes.
“Welcome to the Family. I know we haven’t spoken since the wedding, but a certain future high lord has had all of us running ragged with missions since then,” Astrid, Nyx’s sister, spoke while she held annoyance in her tone. Nyx paid her no mind but gave her a simple hand wave.
“I’m sure you remember Lyra,” she gestures to the beautiful woman beside her. She towered over me, and though she looked intimidating, she waved me a friendly smile, making her look even more attractive. I had to remind myself that I am a married woman now.
“Yes, of course. It’s good to see you again.”
“Likewise,” Lyra said to me as she nodded. She looked so much like her mother. It was scary.
“Where are the rest of you?” Feyre asked.
“They’re coming, mother; you know you can’t trust those boys to be on time for anything” Astrid looped her arm in mine and closed her hand around my fingers. Not long after, the rest of the inner circle children, along with Azriel, Gwyn, Luicen, and Elain, showed up.
“Great, now that everyone is here, we can finally eat,” Rhysand said, and we all made our way to our seats and began to eat. Conversation flowed throughout dinner. Whenever I tried to speak to Lucien, he would brush off what I asked or not answer. It started to get to me that I was trying so hard to talk to him, and he couldn’t even bother.
“Your dress looks lovely dear. Where did you get it from?” The question had come from Elain, and it had taken me aback only because her mate, my brother, had seemed determined to avoid me for the evening.
“Oh, there is a shop by the bridge. The owner Abrail makes amazing dresses. I can take you there one day if you're not busy?” I said to her,
“Elain always has time to shop,” Nesta teased jokingly with her sister. It reminded me of how I was with mine. A homesick feeling washed over me, causing me to grow distant. My family, I had almost forgotten how much I missed them and my home. My early morning rides on my pegasus, my sisters at dinner, and my father. How could I have forgotten them? How could I have forgotten my oldest sister, who was no longer here? I’m enjoying the life she would have had with Nyx. I must have been quiet for too long because when I looked up, I saw Nyx looking at me with worry.
Are you alright? I didn’t answer him though
“Sorry, would you all excuse me” I stood up and left before anyone had the chance, To say anything.

The Star that missed The Sun

Warning- arrange marriage, cute stuff.
A/N-Hello everyone, I have had this idea stuck in my head ever since I read something on here that gave me this idea, and it hasn't left me alone since then, so I finally just put it in writing, tell me if you guys want a part to cause after I wrote this I just started to get this whole story line going.
Word count- 2.3k
The pulling and tugging of my hair, my face, and my body as various different hand maidans helped me get ready for my wedding. Though it wasn't meant to be mine. After my sister passed, we had no way to bridge the day court and the night court.
Our fathers had long since been friends but wanted to secure our futures from the unknown threats that may be on the horizon. One maiden had pulled my curls just a little too hard.
"Okay, okay, that is enough. I think I need a moment," I said to them, but they looked at each other for a moment. "Please go, all of you," I said, my voice a little more firm this time. When everyone had left, I took deep breaths to slow my pounding heart. The door opened again.
"Please, I just need a moment," I said
"I just wanted to see you once more before You walk down the aisle" I turned to the voice from the door.
"Father," High lord Heilon stood proud in my dressing room. I ran into his arms.
"Are you okay, my little sunspot?" he chuckled into my curly hair. I sniffled
"Yes, of course, it's just my wedding day, you know," my voice wavered.
"And you're scared?" he asked me. I could never hide anything from him.
"Father, the night court, I have heard…rumors about their cruelty" I pulled myself from his arms.
"Do you think I would ever let you be put in harm's way" he held such a soft tone.
"No, of course not. However, I have never met him, and after today I will have to spend the rest of my life with him, and I was not his first choice" I moved from my father's arms. He sighed, and we both moved to sit on the ottoman in my bridal sweet.
"You know I didn't know much about your mother when we married."
"And look at what happened." I held my breath, not meaning for that to come out as it did.
"I have three beautiful daughters," he told me lightly.
"She left to go explore the world and be on her own and stuck you with the three of us," I said
"And raising you girls was the best thing I have done."
"Even me? Your most troubled" I let out a soft chuckle as a tear passed my face. He whipped it gently with a smile as bright as the sun.
"Essentially you, my little sunspot."
There was a knock at the door, and a handmaiden entered.
"My lady, everyone is ready" I looked up at my father like a fawn, but I nodded. My father offered me his arm, and I took it, giving him my best smile.
We walked down the hall to the big doors, and they opened themselves slowly, revealing white Wisteria hanging from the trees that were in the garden; white linen lined the seating, and white petals fell as I walked down the aisle, watching familiar and some not so familiar faces smiling and A priestess with red hair and teal eyes waiting at the end with my future husband.
I reached the end, and it was time for my father to let me go, but I wasn't ready yet. He Gave me a weak smile, a tear brimming in his eye. I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I love you, Papa," I whispered in his ear.
"I love you too, Sunspot," He said back. I was sure that those tears had escaped. When I pulled away. He gave me a smile and helped me up to the altar. There was a hand stretched out to me. I looked up and was caught in his blue eyes before I remembered to take his hand. The priestess began the ceremony, and I looked at his chin to look like I was looking at him. I could not afford to get lost in his eyes again, but I felt them on me, and with his smile, I dared to look at them. I saw nothing but admiration. The priestess had said my name.
"I'm sorry, what?" I said to her as I came back to my senses. I heard small chuckles come from the crowd. My cheeks heated with embarrassment. She repeated herself, and it was our turn to repeat her.
"By Sun, Moon, and stars in front of all of these witnesses and the mother herself, I take you to be my Husband" the priestess had wrapped a rope around my forearm around my hand.
"By Sun, Moon, and stars in front of all of these witnesses and the mother herself, I take you to be my wife," Nyx had said back to me.
"Then I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
The kiss was our first one. He leaned in and placed the most tender of kisses on my lips. It wasn't a kiss you would exchange with someone you didn't know. He kissed me like he didn't want to overwhelm me but also like he had been waiting for this moment his whole life. He kissed me like I was a dream that had been answered. When He pulled away, I was still in a daze, so much so that I almost missed the sound of clapping and cheering. He only smiled and offered me his arms. I took it, and we walked back down the aisle. The flower petals that flowed down this time were. A combination of our colors that signify the unification of our courts.
The reception was lively from both courts, everyone dancing and drinking like they have been doing this for centuries, and they probably have. I was so much younger than everyone here. I felt so out of place. I know that Nyx wanted to be there and join his friends and family in the celebration, but he stayed next to me. I silently hoped that this wouldn't be the basis of our marriage. Me holding him back, or him feeling obligated to stay with me not because he wanted to but because it was his duty.
"You should join them if you would like," I told him. I believe this was the first thing I had said to him, at least outside my vows.
"Do you dance, My lady?" He asked, his voice soft.
"Not if you value the ability to use your feet" The remark slipped out. Though I thought he wouldn't like the sass, would we have our inside joke laugh about nothing, tease and poke fun at one another? Instead, Nyx laughed something so relaxedly.
"I think my feet can handle the bruising" he stood and held out his hand, and I took it. Then, as if he could read my anxious thoughts, he put his arm around my waist and led me to the middle of the dance floor. Held one hand and put the other on my back. The first step was just a little off.
"Ooof, I'm sorry; maybe this was a bad idea," I said, getting ready to pull away, but he grounded me in place.
"Don't worry, it's okay, just relax, let me lead, just follow," he said. This time I let go and let him lead me to the sound of the music. This was the first time I had the courage honestly look at him. His black leather wings were strong enough to carry him in the air, his broad shoulders the way he towered over me, and his devastatingly good looks. He was the most beautiful male I had ever seen.
My dancing could have been better, it wasn't perfect, not by any standard, but I was doing it. I was so focused on Nyx and dancing with him to the best of my ability that I hadn't seen the people who cleared the dance floor to honor this being the first time we danced together. I was so excited at the dance I stepped forward and stepped on his toes. No one noticed, though. Instead, he smiled down at me.
"I see what you mean," he whispered in my ear. Then, he pulled away to spin me slowly and carried me through the rest of the dance…
The night began to whine down, and people began to leave. Fear crept into the pit of my stomach. It was our wedding night, and things would be expected of us. This wouldn't be my first time, but something about being married to him makes this feel so much more important.
"Are we leaving right now, my lord?" I asked him.
"Yes, we are, and if you would like, you can address me by my name."
"Right, I'm sorry, Nyx" I paused for a moment before I continued. "You may also address me by mine unless you prefer to call me My lady."
"Cauldron, no, it would be the waist of a beautiful name."
We said our goodbyes. I hugged my father goodbye. He looked to the corner where my half-brother stood with a longing look of regret while he and his mate chatted. I watched the whole night as my father and brother avoided each other, but it's always been this way since I was born, the two of them never being able to be around each other before harsh words are exchanged. I hope that with my new position in the court, he frequents, we can finally have a relationship and maybe extend it to our father. After my father left, he made his way over.
"Hello dear, You look stunning. It's nice to finally meet you. I'm Elaine Nyx's aunt" She embarrassed me with a hug. Stepping away to take a good look at me.
"Sister," Lucien gave me a nod.
"Brother, it's good to see you."
"I suppose congratulations are in order, sister; looks like I have to share the night court with you as well," he said sarcastically with a hint of disdain on his face before giving a quick smile and hurrying along with Elaine. I looked over to Nyx. His eyes are studying me with concern. But I waved it off and continued to say goodbye to our guests.
"Are you ready to go?" Nyx turned to me. I took his hand, and we winnowed into the foyer of his home. I looked around at the cozy setting around us. We landed in a sitting room with a black marble fireplace and worn comfortable chairs with bookshelves built into every wall. I felt the urge to explore it.
"This is my family's townhouse where we will be living, at least for now," he said. I felt calm anxiety wash over me. He led me up the broad oak stairs and approached an ivory door. When we entered the room, it faced a garden in the back of the house that, in the center, had a fountain. The room was white gold and ivory. It looked like Day court, from the gold fabric that lined the soft pillows on my bed and the lounge chair to the ivory comforts and blanket vines hung from the canopy above the bed. It looked like home.
"I had it designed after your court. If you don't like it, feel free to change it," he said
"This is my room?" I asked to take a step into the room.
"Yes, of course, my room is right across the hall in case you need anything." he stepped away. I followed him into his room. The ceiling was the night sky painted with black satin sheets and dark oak wood furniture. He turned to me, looking slightly confused.
"Would you like a drink?" he walked to the corner of his room where he had a small bar cart next to a desk full of papers.
"Yes, a double, please," I said to him as he poured the two glasses giving me the one with the most alcohol. I took the whole shot in one big gulp, scrunching my face, and the burning whisky went down my throat. He chuckled
"Well, I can say that I am impressed," he said as he chuckled. I smiled weakly as I set the glass down. Raising my trembling hands to undo my dress. He approached me, closing his hands around mine, stopping me from undoing my dress.
"I'm sorry. Did you want to do this part?" I asked him though my voice didn't sound as confident as I wanted it to.
"I wasn't expecting us to… we don't have to do this, you know, not if you don't want to" he looked at me more worried than anything.
"But we are husband and wife."
"And you are also trembling" I looked down at his hands still closed around mine.
"Am I not… Do I not appeal to you? I understand if I don't, my father he sometimes-"
"No, No, I enjoy females trust me" he chuckled at my confession, which made my cheek heat.
"Oh," I looked down ashamed, thinking it must be me.
"It's not you either. I would never share your bed against your will."
"But other people will think-"
"I won't take you to bed…not unless you ask for me" He paused before he said the last part smiling at me.
"Thank you" There are many good males, but there are just as many that aren't, and Nyx was a good one. Do you think I would ever let you be put in harm's way? I understood now that my father trusted High lord Rhysand and his family more than I thought. He knew that I would never be in harm's way here.
"I think maybe tomorrow we can get to know each other better. Would you like to join me for breakfast in the morning?" he asked.
"That would be lovely."
"I should get some sleep. I have a long day ahead of me" I gave a slight nod,
"Goodnight, Nyx"
"Goodnight, starshine" I headed to my room and looked around again at my new surroundings.

The Star that missed The Sun
Nyx x Reader
Warning- arrange marriage, cute stuff.
A/N- Soo you guys are fantastic I really didn't expect anyone to like part one so much; I really just thought that maybe it was going to be a one-shot but you guys seemed to have loved it, so here is a part two
Word Count- 2.1K
Part One
My eyes fluttered open at the sound of birds chirping outside of my room. The morning sun crept in, shining on my face. I sighed deeply and lifted myself off my bed, blinking a few times while waiting for my eyes to adjust. I threw myself back down on my bed, hoping to resume my sleep. Until I heard a slight knock at my door
"My lady? I came in to give you a wake-up call," a handmaiden came in. I recognized her as one of the ones who helped me get ready for my wedding. It was hard to forget how she looked with her short blonde hair, tan skin, and blue eyes. She looked like she would have loved being back home.
"Yes, thank you."
She smiled and entered and began to run a bath for me and unload my luggage to find a dress for the day. I went into the bathroom and sunk into the tub, adding some floral scents to the water. I allowed the warm water to ease my mussels.
After a while, I left the tub and re-entered my room, where the handmaiden stood waiting and helped me get ready.
"How do I get to the garden?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, my lady, but Lord Nyx had an emergency this morning and cannot join you for breakfast. He extends his apologies." I felt disappointed, snuggling its way into my body. But should I have gotten my hopes up? My father did his best to be present, and he was, but that doesn't mean that he was always there, and I shouldn't expect that of my husband either.
"Oh, I see. Well, I suppose I can explore Velaris," I told her. She bowed
"I'll go and grab your cloak, my lady."
"I didn't catch your name?" I called out to her
"It's Althaia."
"It's good to meet you" I smiled as she handed me my white cloak, and I went out the door. The street is bright and filled with bustling shops. Everything was so different. In Day court, the road was paved with white gold brick that matched the building, and the sun always hung high on the most beautiful days, but here everything was different. The buildings were lined in all different colors, with the streets black and brown cobblestone. Until I walked to a bridge, shops looked like they were setting up for lunch. Then, I looked at one shop that caught my eye, Eleftheria Saoirse, in bold letters. I was greeted by a woman who looked a few years older than me.
"My name is Abrial. Thank you for coming in." I smiled at her enthusiasm when I entered. I introduce myself.
"Oh yes, your lord Nyx's new bride!" she exclaimed
"Your shop is lovely" I gazed over the dresses and fabric.
"Oh, thank you, dear. Do you sew?" she asked.
"Me? Oh no, my mother did, but she never taught me" she looked at me, a little sad.
"What a shame, well what can I do for you?" it dawned on me at this moment that I didn't have any money.
"Oh, thank you, but I wouldn't be able-"
"Don't worry, truly I don't mind," she interrupted. She must have seen that I was going to protest again, so she continued before I could.
"At least let me give you a cloak; it will help you blend in better" I looked down at my attire.
"Nothing is wrong with it, but it makes it obvious that you are not from here. Anyway, Lord Nyx has a credit line that you can use" I didn't like the idea of me just using Nyx's credit line. I'll pay him back when he gets home.
"Okay, a cloak then." She lit up and went to get a plain night court blue cloak. I reached out to take it, but she moved to her sewing machine.
"I have this wonderful idea for a design; it would be lovely."
"You don't have to do that."
"I want to, plus I've been doing this forever, so it won't take me long! I made a dress that would look great with the design I was thinking about. So maybe you can try it on, and don't worry, it's just a try on" she gave me a wink and pushed me into a dressing room with the dress in my hand.
I slipped the dress on, and she was right. The fabric was night court blue and had golden swirls embroidered at the bottom that rose to my knee, and in between the wheels were little gold stars and suns; I looked at myself in the mirror though I frowned a little. I studied my arms. I wasn't happy with it. I know I shouldn't think about these things, but sometimes I couldn't help. I began to pick apart everything that was wrong with me.
You look Beautiful
The thought crept into my head.
"Abrial? Did you say something" I ask
"No, dear, I didn't. Did you try the dress? I must see how it looks" I looked once again at myself for some reason feeling just a little more confident. I stepped out of the dressing room and gave her a twirl.
"Just as I thought, it's a great fit." She walked up with the cloak and placed it on me. The cloak matches perfectly with the gold thread that made a design on the back.
Half a sun and half a moon meet together to create one. The symbol of both courts.
"It's perfect." I breathed out in disbelief at how beautiful they looked together. She packed up my old clothes and put them in a bag. I gave her a look.
"The dress was made for you consider it a wedding gift."
"I don't know how to thank you."
"I wouldn't mind the company every once and a while. Maybe I can even teach you to sew." She handed me the shopping bag.
"I can definitely do that, thank you. "I gave her a respectful bow before heading towards the door. I opened it and had one foot out when I stopped.
"How did you know that I was from day court?" I asked her.
"What?"
"The sun and the moon is the design that you did, but I didn't tell you I was from day court"
"You clothes, dear, I have been sewing for a long time, and I recognized the clothes and cloak from day court," she said, giving me a wave and cleaning up her station.
"Right, of course, you did say I looked like an outsider" I chuckled at her, simply nodding. I must be losing it. I first heard voices and now questioning people who had been kind to me.
"Have a good evening, My lady."
"You too, Abrial. See you soon!" I walked out of the shop and continued walking around Velaris, visiting many shops just to look. It wasn't until I was tired and starving that I realized I had no idea how to return to the townhouse. Oh no, this is great, just great.
I walked around trying to stop people, but everyone was either going home in a rush or getting restaurants ready for dinner and had no time to stop what they were doing. I sighed in defeat. I looked up at the sky and saw the sun setting. It will be dark soon. I almost gave up when I ran into Lord Cassian and Lady Nesta. But, no actually ran into them. Lord Cassian had to steady me to stop me from falling over.
"Whoa, there little spell-cleaver are you okay" once I was upright, he let go.
"I'm sorry, Lord Cassian, I'm a little turned around, actually lost." Cassian laughed at me. My cheeks heated. Did I say something wrong? Nesta lightly hit his stomach.
"It's hard to believe that you are Helion's daughter. You're far too polite to be related, little fawn," he said in between fits of laughter.
"Calling us Nesta and Cassian is just fine, love; we can help you get back home" Nesta shook her head at Cassian but gave me a smirk. He threw his arm around us, tucking me in between him and Nesta.
"Cassian, you're scaring the poor girl, and she's not a little doll, you know," she said, seeing amusement on his face.
"I can't be excited for our new niece Nes" his smile beamed at me.
"Ignore him; he lacks manners. I've tried to teach him, but I've been failing since we've been mated." Her face was serious, but I couldn't help but giggle. I looked down and noticed the book she had tucked under her arm.
"If you like that series, try the one her brother wrote. It gives a unique look at a romance book from a male's perspective."
"Do you like romance books?" Nesta asked, her face lighting up since the first time I met her at my wedding
"Yes, of course, you should have seen our library back home; my father gave me my section when he learned I liked to read books for fun," I told her.
"Oh no, not you too! You enjoy those smutty books that Nes can't seem to put down." she rolled her eyes at him but still held such a strong sense of love behind them.
"Please come by the house of wind. My friends and I like to meet up occasionally to discuss what we are reading, and we have a library underground that I wouldn't mind showing you." I don't know how long we were walking back, but before I knew it, here we were.
"I'll take you up on that, Nesta, and thank you for helping me find my way back," I said my goodbyes and went to the townhouse. I took off my cloak and set down my bag before the aroma of food flooded my senses. I followed it to the back of the house and into the garden. There I found a table for two with mountains of food and lights that hung in the sky. Nyx was fixing the table. When I came in, he turned to me.
"You have perfect timing," he said proudly, looking at his work.
"What is this?" I said in complete shock at the masterpiece before me
"Well, I really wanted to have breakfast with you this morning, but something came up that I couldn't ignore, but I made a promise to you, and well, I'm sorry that I couldn't keep it." he held out his hand seating me in the chair and pushing it in.
"Oh, I understand, really. You didn't have to go through all of this."
"It's okay, I wanted to," he sat across from me.
We had spent the night eating and talking, and I opened up to him. I told him about my childhood and how much trouble I got into with my two sisters. I told him about the pegasus that I had back home and the first flying lesson that I ever had. Some of the adventures that I had in the summer court with Cordelia, Cressida's daughter. And, of course, some of my safer experiences. Nyx had opened up to me too, telling me how close his family is, and not just with him and his siblings but also with his cousins, his one big happy family. I enjoyed it even if it made me sad to think about my brother, who hardly acknowledged us, or my absent mother. His family seems inseparable from my messy dysfunctional one.
"So, how did you like Velaris? I heard you went out and explored."
'It's different."
"A good different?"
"It's beautiful, truly it is. I found a dress shop, and the owner was so nice."
"I should have told you when you walked in that you look beautiful; that dress really does look amazing on you," he said.
You look beautiful. That voice.
"It was you? Were you in my head" I half believed it myself?
"Oh yes, I'm sorry, must have forgotten that detail," he smirked, holding his wine glass to his lips.
"May I?" he asked. I nodded my head, and then this familiar presence pulled over me.
I wouldn't do it not without your permission, but I felt your thoughts, and they were racing. I thought that you might be in trouble.
And you can do this whenever you want
Only if you allow me
I paused momentarily, unsure how to process it, but then I remembered the dress shop and how it made me feel better after hearing him.
I wouldn't mind.

The Stars that missed the Sun
Nyx x Reader
Warning- arrange marriage, cute stuff.
Part one, Part Two, Part Three
Chapter Four
I made my way to the garden. My heart was pounding out of my chest; I could hear the footsteps behind me. It was Nyx who had followed me out. I turned to see him standing there with concern etched on his face.
“What’s wrong?” he asked me, reaching to touch my arm, but I moved away. Avoiding his gaze so he couldn’t see the tears streaming down my face.
“I can’t do this,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I can still hear the dinner I stormed out on still in full swing, chatter and laughter going on. But for me, everything was happening in slow motion.
“I can’t pretend that everything is okay when it’s not. I’m sorry” I wrapped my arms around my waist, hoping it would somehow hold me together.
He looked at me for a long moment, his eyes filled with pain “ I understand,” he said softly, “but please don’t push me away. I want to help you, to be there for you”
“I know, I-” I stopped myself. I wanted to give myself completely, I tried to tell him that I was falling for him and that I was getting in my head about us and me being here, I wanted to say to him that I missed my family, but I couldn’t, and it was for so many reasons. I just couldn’t open myself to him but why?
Because what if he leaves? The thought crept into my head. What if he goes like everyone else?
“I want to go back to the townhouse,” was all I said, Hurt was carved into his face, but he took me into his arms and winnowed back to the townhouse.
—----------------------
It has been a few days since the family dinner. I woke up to an empty home; Nyx had gone to work early. I got ready as usual, but the guilt of everything still weighed over me.
“A walk today, my lady? Maybe to Abrial,” Althaia’s voice took me out of my daydream.
“Yes, please,” I said, she grabbed my light cloak handing it to me, and I was out the door. Velaris was warming up so nicely. The springtime was beautiful, and I could tell that the summer would be even better, and it was creeping around here so close. Seeing the streets of Velaris brought me some sort of peace.
I had meant to go to Abrial shop, but instead, I found myself standing outside of Feyre’s art studio, I enjoyed Feyre’s creativity, but this was the first time that I had decided to go and see her it was the least I can do after the other night.
I took a deep breath and opened the door entering the serene space. Feyre was sitting at a canvas with paint on her cheek. She held a gentle smile and turned towards me, her eyes filled with warmth.
“Well, hello, sweet girl, what brings you?” she asked. I hesitated for a moment to think what am I doing here.
“I… I wanted to apologize; I’m sorry for how I left,” I said to her; her smile never faded. She walks up to me gracefully.
“There was never anything to apologize for” She took my hand a lead me further into her studio. The studio was bathed in natural light, and colorful canvases adorned the walls, each telling its own story. I looked around at all of the paintings, and I saw the pottery bathing in the sunlight.
“ Nyx had told me that you painted; I didn’t know you used clay either?” I said as I picked up a beautiful handmade vase.
“I didn’t,” she said. I turned over the vase to see the name carved at the bottom.
“He never told me,” I said, looking over Nyx’s pottery.
“He sometimes takes half a day of work or even after to clear his mind,”I said nothing to her.
“Have a seat; I’ll get you some clay to try,” She said. She gave me a change of clothes, and with a snap of her fingers, my old clothes went back to the townhouse. I sat down and began to work. I wasn’t much of an artist. The piano, poems, and books were more to my taste. But dancing, baking, and art that was always something that never came naturally. Feyre painted in silence while I worked into the clay.
“Love is a complicated journey, but sometimes the path we didn’t choose can lead us somewhere unexpected.” she finally said after some silence.
“Are you speaking from experience?” I had asked
“Maybe some,” She said with amusement.
“Is it too late?” I asked her if she understood what I meant. Was it to fix things with Lucien and Nyx as well? He was also owed an apology.
“Nyx has been with you to help you. All you have to do is reach out your hand,” she said
“Can I ask a favor?” I asked her she gave me a nod.
—--------------------
I stood in the Kitchen, Determined to bake a cake for Nyx. I asked Feyre for the recipe that she got for Elaine. I don’t think for a second that this will make up for what he has done for me so far, but hopefully, it can at least pass for a sorry.
I gathered all the ingredients and mixed everything. The kitchen was filled with the array of ingredients and utensils and the scattering of my failing attempt.
“Okay, eggs, flour, vanilla…. Where is the vanilla” I moved from cabinet to cabinet until I found it and added some drops to the mix. I wiped my cheek and tried to stir it together.
“Well, you have been busy.”A voice from the doorway echoed, and I turned to see Nyx leaning against it with an expression that could be confused with admiration.
“Nyx!” I nearly shouted, “your home early. I…I was just-”
“It looks like you were trying to bake” he walked over and peeked into the bowl.
“Yes, trying and failing, so it seems” I leaned against the counter in defeat. He let out a chuckle.
“Was there a celebration I wasn’t aware of? My birthday has passed, and yours isn’t for another few months.”
“I just wanted to bake a cake. It is the least I can do. I wanted to do something nice,” I said low, He finally walked across the room entirely and stood in front of me.
“The least you could do?”
“After a few days, yeah, the least you have been so kind, warm, inviting. I just want to be a good wife.” after I said that, his eyes held a certain tenderness.
“You are a good wife and an amazing one. You don’t have to bake a cake to tell me that, and for the family dinner.” He took me into his arms, and his face became serious.
“You have been through a lot, and you miss your family. How could I ever fault you for that?”
“So you’re not mad?”
“Not even a little I want to show you something.” He had winnowed us to the river house.
“Come follow me” he took my hand and led me to the part of the property that held what looked like a stable.
“Horses?” I asked, but he only smiled and opened the door, and that was when I saw her.
“Elfia!” I ran and arms around my pegasus neck. She flaps her wings with some excitement.
“But how-”
“I spoke to Helion, who permitted me to take your pegasus. Then Lucien and I spent a few days building it and making the correct accommodations that she would need.
“Lucien helped you?”
“I suppose it’s a family thing apologizing through acts of service.” he came close and gave Elfia a bit of hay.
“Thank you,” I told him
“Just promise me that when Cassian asks you to race that you beat him, he’s already taking bets.” some pulled in my chest just then, something warm and comforting.
“Oh, before I forget, we have to go back home. I have some for you” This time, I took his hand and winnowed us back home, and next to the mess of ingredients was a box wrapped neatly. I handed it to him. He carefully opened the box and saw what I had made early. A smile so widespread, and he was fighting back a laugh
“It’s amazing, truly,” he had said though his face changed slightly.
“ I worked hard on that, you know,” I said as I tried to take it out of his hand, but he held it too high.
“I never said I didn’t want it; it’s great I can use it for so many things. It’s- what is it supposed to be?” he said as some of his laughter broke free.
“It’s supposed to be a mug. You can put coffee in it when you work from home,” I said, low crossing my arm.
“Awe, okay well, it’s now my favorite mug.”
“We all can’t be amazing an artist like you, Nyx,” I said. He pulled me close.
“Well then, tomorrow I will take off. We can be in the studio, and I can show you how to do things correctly,” he said as he kissed my forehead. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled in for a kiss. His lips moved against mine and synced, and his hands found their way all over my body.
My world just for a moment stood still.

Part One, Part two, Part Three
Chapter Four
My eyes fluttered open at the sound of crickets chirping outside. My body felt stiff. From sleeping on the hard floor, My eyes had shot open at the realization that I needed to be alert. I jumped up to see I was alone, and the fire burned out. That wasn’t smart. I should have stayed up. I let my guard down for the second time around this enemy. He suddenly appeared.
“Well I’m glad to see that you're finally up, let's get going” He strolled out of the cave and I followed him out cautiously. I saw the night sky.
“I don’t understand how is it night you said we would leave in the morning”
“We were but I let you rest and glad I did. Your wound is healed and we both rested enough to take this journey. It works out better anyway during the night we can follow the stars to get you and me back home.” He began to walk and I follow
“Here I dried the rest of the meat from yesterday”he handed me some food and I was not going to turn it down since I haven’t eaten.
“How did you know how do all of this” I asked
“A lot of this is basic survival but I learned a lot during the blood rite” I didn’t know what that was but did not question it. I took a big bite of the meat as we both passed it back and forth along with the water. I didn’t trust him not fully but so far he has given me no reason not to.
“Mareen is west of night court” I informed him
“Speaking of how do you plan to cross the ocean winnowing?” He said but I simply smirked .
“Let me worry about that, how do you plan to get off of the island?”I asked
“Well probably with these '' he moved his back and two large wings spread wide stretching far. I was startled enough to jump far away. He let out a deep chuckle.
“It’s okay you're safe” he said, tucking them behind him. I put my blade away, stepping closer and more weary.
“If you have those then why walk, you could be home by now” he looked at me with an unreadable expression. I reached toward him with my empathic powers to get a read on his emotion but I came up with nothing. I pushed just a little more trying to read him but nothing. His face held that arrogant smirk once again.
“If you're going to try to read my emotions, at least don’t be discourteous, try to hide it.” I scowled at him.
“How much do you trust me?”he asked
“Not at all this is just a partnership of convenience” I said to him
“Well then I guess we walk” I stopped in my tracks as he kept walking.
“What did you have in mind?”
“Well, I could fly us to the shore and however you plan to get home you can take it or. Could even fly you home.”
“No! No, the border is just fine.” You are supposed to be Emallia, a simple Mareenian soldier the less he knows the better it is for you both. He took a few steps forward but you drew your blade once more and held it to his throat as he smirked down.
“If you try anything I will not hesitate to cut your throat” he took his two fingers moving the blade from his neck. He stared at me intensely. His eyes never left mine as he lifted me in his arms.
“Comfortable?” He asked, he was enjoying my discomfort at being so close to him
“Just Go” I said to him. I regretted it the moment it came out of my mouth because He had shot us into the sky. The force alone made me hold onto his neck tighter. I was so close His scent filled my nose he smelled of the earth and sun after a long cold winter he smelled warm.
“Your missing the best part” he said
“I am fine” I held tight burying my face in more not looking at whatever is beyond knowing that whatever it is would terrify me. We started to feel like we're slowing and eventually came to a full stop. Though I still didn’t look past having my face buried deep in his neck
“I don’t mind you staying like this but you should know that we have reached the island's beach.” Amusement lanced his voice. I peaked out to see the beach and the ocean beyond even some of the highest parts of Mareen. I wormed my way out of his grip, and on to the sand.
“Well, are you going to tell me now how you're going to get across that” I didn’t answer instead I used my two fingers to whistle using magic to project its sound and pitch.
“He will be here soon I had to wait til we were close enough otherwise he wouldn’t be able to hear me I could winnow but I would like to conserve my strength”
“ Who is he?”
“Midnight he’s my Familiar”it was too late to take back what I said. I had given away to much. Said too much about myself.Nyx shifted closer till he was at arms reach.
“So you're a witch? That would explain your magical talent, powerful I would even say more powerful than most of the high lords though I don’t think they notice” He looked closer at me studying my face that he called expressive to see if it would give anything away. I wanted to say something to deny it but his eyes averted from me to look at the ocean and there was midnight running on the water. Toward us when he reached the beach he stalked towards us eying Nyx like prey.
“Easy Midnight easy” I said to him in Mareenian hoping to calm him but his growls did not stop. He walked toward Nyx like this was his next hunt when he got close he just stopped and rubbed his body against his leg purring in satisfaction. I stood there shocked at midnight.
“You're not so bad but I’m sure it’s this that you want” Nyx held out the last of the dried meat and fed it to Midnight and gave him pats. Midnight ate  happily he rubbed himself more against Nyx.I took a deep sigh annoyed
“Come Midnight, you spoiled menace” I said as I mounted him “what you did for me was noble I won’t forget it”
“How will I get in contact with you?” He asked me
“You can’t. This is where we part for good” I answer. Midnight walked to the coast with his own magic surging in his body to give him the ability to run on water.
“Since this will be the last time I see you, will you tell me your real name?” His cocky smirk said all that I needed to know, he never bought my lie for a minute but he still looked after me.
I only smiled at him
“If the Mother brings us together again I’ll tell you my name” and with that midnight started to run towards home.
When I looked back Nyx wasn’t on the beach anymore instead he was in the starry sky headed safely home.
When I had gotten to the shore the guards escorted me straight to my mother.Walking in the throne room there was no one else around just me and the guards and the throne that was empty looking  down on me coldy with judging eyes. My mother and sister came through the doors. Sauda ran to me, almost knocking me over as my mother walked her way towards me
“Are you hurt, let me see you” Sauda stepped back and took in my filthy clothes and the minor cuts.
“I am fine kessa” I said giving her a hug myself my mother examined me closely. I didn’t flinch under her gaze though I wanted to because I then realized she could smell me, she could smell him on me.
“Kessa you must let me go so I may wash up” I moved out of her grip and headed to my bedroom chambers.
I got into my room and started to take off my boot, when the door to my room bursted open, and General Sujeed rushed into my room embracing me in a hug, But I pulled myself out of his grip just as fast.
“Have you lost it, you can't-“ I began but he cut me off speaking so fast
“I’m sorry for the interruption princess I had heard and I just had to come see you for myself. You were missing for two days we were looking for you every-“he stopped speaking mid sentence and looked me over then around my room.
“Where have you been?”
“Excuse me?” The disrespect that he dared
“Who have you been with, the male his smell is all over you” he said
“That is none of your concern,” I said, moving further away from him.
“ you are to be my wife it is my-“
“No its not and it won’t be because I will never be your wife to hell with what mother said I won’t do it” he stepped back hurt was read all over his face.
“But I thought since we made love that you felt something for me”
“I was upset and you knew that, It was a moment of weakness and even if it wasn’t even that ever since then you have done nothing but tried to control me and make me something I am not that I will never be!” I shouted at him, he shifted on his feet standing.
“Have a goodnight Princess” and with that he left my room. I resumed undressing and bathing and ready myself for the warm bed that greeted me after. Though when I laid in bed I felt uneasy like something was very wrong.

A court of Night and stars
Hey guys, welcome to my first fanfic. I hope you guys enjoy it. I couldn't get this story out of my head, so here goes. Nyx pov will be up maybe in the following two chapters.
Summary- Random killings have been happening all over Pythian and make its ways to a kingdom in the fae realm known as Mareen. Emrys grieves the loss of her sister and keeps her domain away from war, and she gets help from an unexpected ally.
Pairing- Adu!t Nyx x OC

Chapter One
Emrys Pov
Song- The other side by Ruelle
I sat on the dais in the throne room. My mother, the queen, sat on her throne above everyone, looking at her people. She wore all white like my older sister and me. Everyone else in the room wore black.
“ We are here today to honor the death of my eldest child, your future queen,” her voice wavered ever so slightly that no one in the room seemed to notice.
My older sister Sauda was looking down. Her dark ebony skin was pale, and her eyes were tired. I hadn’t slept either. My mother looked over at Sauda and reached out her hand, and she stood and took it. She led her in front to speak to the room.
“My sister Annika was Joyful and loving. Kind and brave. She would have been an amazing queen, and I will lead you all with the same grace she would have.” she walked to Annika's unmoving body on the pyre that was going to be burned. I could feel it panging in my chest as my sister's emotions washed over me. Finally, I pulled myself back, leaving only my sorrow in my body; only my feelings resided again.
“I know you will be watching me, kessa”(kessa-sister), She said and then turned to me. Everyone turns to me because there expect a warrior princess who has trained in combat and fought her enemies, but today that is not me; today, I am a girl who has lost her older sister and does not know what to do without her. Our mother, the blood queen, and the ruler were waiting on me. My mother trained me to fight and lead, but my sister taught me to be more.
I walked up to her Pyre. I fought back the tears, the tightness in my throat, the whelming in my eyes.
“In death, there will be light, this is not the end for you, kessa, and this isn’t goodbye for us. May the spirit of our ancestors guide you; I will see you again in the next life” I let the tears run down my cheeks. My mother will see it as a weakness, but I see it as my love for her. I took the torch from the maester and lit the pyre. It went up in flames but so did her body.
------------------------------------
I walked down the hallway alone. It had been a whole week since the funeral, and I hadn’t seen much of my family since then when I walked into the council room. My mother and sister, council and general were waiting.
“I apologize for my lateness,” I said as I took my seat.
“We will begin now, then as many of you know, Ranthian has been going from courts and kingdoms killing people, and as of recently, he took the life of our late Princess.” Maester Harken spoke.“This cannot go unpunished. So we have agreed to meet with the high lords of Prythian.”
“Will this mean war?” I spoke up and asked; my spine chilled, and my stomach pitted.
“I will not let this go, so if it comes to it, then yes, and that goes for anyone who stands in my way,” My mother said. There was silence in the room. I understood more than anyone what a war would mean, not just for me but for our tropes. But it's for my kessa. My kessa. She wouldn’t want this, but I had to give this to her. I had to do this for her.
“Yes, Of course, we will wait for the word of Queen Kirsi '' Sujeed said. He looked over to me, and with a boyish smirk, he nodded. I simply looked away. I had always ignored his advances, mostly because I knew my mother expected me to marry him. He is the general of our army, and the third princess could not ask for anyone better, and if I do not do so of my own free will, she will arrange it, and he knows it too. However, the night that I found out my sister had died, he found me crying and gave me comfort. I wanted to feel anything other than sadness, and I made the mistake of fucking him not once but twice that night. He wasn’t my first. I would not tell him or my mother that, but he was acting as if we were love-sick youth, and I have been avoiding him.
“So if there is nothing more, then that will be all” we were all dismissed to go. I was the first to leave.
“Emrys'' I heard a hushed whisper, looked down the hall, and saw Leola coming toward me.
“Well?” she asked me.
“We might go to war with our two neighbors if it comes to that,” I said, strolling down the hall toward the gardens. We passed by large floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed so much natural sun. I looked out those windows at the parks and past that was my kingdom, my home that would soon be tainted by the blood of war. No, I won’t let it come to that; I won’t let it come to the shores of my home. Leola gave me a small smile, but I could see the look of sadness and a little fear in her eyes.
“Does this mean you're going to give your lover a proper send-off?” she tried jokingly teasing me to make light of what she was feeling. I scoffed at her remark.
“I didn’t tell you that, so you can use that against me. You know I told you that as My best friend,” I nudged her side playfully, letting out a small laugh.
“Emrys,” I heard a strong voice behind me, only to turn and see my mother standing there with her hands resting in front of her. Leola turned around and gave her a deep bow.
“Your grace,” she said, ensuring she had moved along fast.
“Yes, mother?” I said to her as her ever-obedient daughter. She stalked toward me with grace and power. Not even turning her head in my direction, she says, “walk with me.”
We walked outside into the garden of roses and lilies. She turned to face me, and her brown eyes met mine. I studied my mother like she had taught me to learn an enemy. Her eyes watched my brown. I watched as the sun kissed her chestnut skin like it was kissing mine. I watched as she fixed the sleeve of the maroon-colored dress that I was wearing.
“We are going into war, crana. Do you know what that means? Do you know what I will expect of us, especially of you?” But, she said to me, There was still hope, still time to stop it.
“Yes, mother, of course. I am to lead the armies with Sujeed if it comes to war. We are to be led into victory. Being captured isn’t an option. Failure isn’t an option,” I said, standing up straight so she would find no fault in me or my answer.
“Good.” she took paused and then sighed. “ Emrys, we are fae. We live long and are hard to kill, but no one and nothing can escape death. I will not always be here, and with us charging into this war, I cannot say that we will all make it.” She looked to the horizon, the sun's pretty colors
“Mother, I-” she cut me off.
“I might die in this war; your sister might as well, and if we do, that will make you the queen of Mareen. You will not disappoint me or this bloodline.” Her eyes held an unreadable expression.
“I won’t, mother, but you and I both know what this is about and who Ranthian is killing. We should be telling the high lords of Prythian,” I pleaded.
“No child If we make it through this war. I will need to plan your sister's wedding and then, of course, yours; I am sure that Sujeed will need some time to heal his battle wounds, but as soon as he’s healed, you both will have a grand wedding. The secret will stay safe with us.” she began walking away with that last statement, most liking avoiding giving away her genuine emotions about what she was feeling. My people have managed to stay away from the business of another fae since the very beginning. We have wanted no part in what Prythian or Hybren had done to their land or the humans who lived on it. We have created peace between the humans who lived here and us, and now we will alter all of it.
----------------------------------
I watched the night sky enjoying it as if it would be my last as a warm breeze flowed in. Midnight my familiar lay at my feet, his bright yellow eyes alert, and his black fur shined in the moonlight. I was at peace petting the spoiled panther before me until I heard a knock at my door.
“Princess?” Sujeed moved his head into my room.
“Yes, General Sujeed,” my voice couldn’t hide my annoyance. I just wanted tonight. I just wanted a minute to process what tomorrow might be like. This will not be my first war. Maureen hadn’t been a place of peace, but after the civil war, I thought that maybe this would be it.
“The watch for tonight will be changing now.” He said with a bow and smirk.
“You’ve never felt the need to tell me you would be standing guard before,”  I said to him.
“Oh no, it won’t be me but rest knowing that I put one of my best to guard for you tonight. I really came in here to talk to you.” He moved further into my room though the door was still open. I shifted in my seat on my window sill.
“I don’t think that we have anything to talk about,” I said to him.
“It’s about tomorrow. I want you to stay close, and if you see danger, please just run. I can protect you.” I scoffed and shook my head.
“You want me to run from a fight when my people are risking their lives,” I said
“I want to keep you safe,” he said. Coming closer. Midnight's eyes were fixed on him.
“Well then, I hate to disappoint you, but I won’t be doing that” I got up from the window sills and moved to my vanity. I picked up some hair oil in a bottle and started putting it in my hair, looking into my mirror and not at the general, who took it upon himself to come further into my room and close the door behind him; I stopped what I was doing to glare in his direction. Still, it seemed as though no matter how much he looked at me, he wasn’t seeing me.
“I don’t want this to be up for a discussion. Truly it shouldn’t be your safety that is best for all of us. If anything happens to the Kirsi or Sauna, then it will be you to take over the throne, and we can’t have you dead.” A nerve in me was being pushed at. He quickly forgot his place, and then a thought struck me.
“You spoke to my mother, haven't you? What did she tell you?” My tone was deadly, and he was wise to be worried. He straightened his back and took straight at me.
“When all is done, you are to be my wife, I look forward to that, Emrys, but that day won’t come if you are no longer here. So please, for our sake, for the sake of the life we will have, stay away from danger” he took a step forward, but I took one back.
“I think it is time for you to leave.”
“Emrys, please I-“
“No, just leave,” I said, taking a threatening step toward him. Midnight was now up, eyeing him down. A challenge to try if he dared to disobey. He stepped back, took his last bow, and left through the door. When I was again by myself, I finished my hair for the night, went back to the window sill, and looked up at the stars. A million thoughts and emotions ran through my head, but none mattered, not right now, and it was just me and the night sky.

Chapter 1, Chapter 2
Chapter Three
Emrys POV
I was struggling to keep standing my ground. My arm throbbed with pain was an ashwood arrow. The wood had poisoned my blood and slowly infected my body as I tried to fight through this battle.
Everything happened so fast that I had no time to process what was happening. I saw the Fae male from earlier, that princeling. he pushed one warrior putting him down in an instant and moving on to another.  And then that’s when a blast happened with enough force to blow us far from the battlefield. I felt myself floating, no wait, Flying or falling. I wasn't sure what I knew, only that my feet were no longer touching the ground, but in that instant, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and pull me close to a body. And then we hit the ground hard, tumbling. My head was cradled on the impact.
When we stopped rolling, I pushed him off me and faced who it was. I drew my sword in an instant. He held his hands up. I couldn't tell if it was in defense or to attack because my vision was getting worse, which meant that the poison was spreading faster. I blinked a few times. I tried to lunge at him, but the pain that shot through my arm was so intense that I fell straight to the ground. All I could do was hold my arm and scream out in pain.
“Hold…. On……I….got” I could not hear, or maybe I could not understand the language coming out of his mouth, but everything around me faded.
I was in and out of consciousness. I can remember being picked up and being held in someone's arms. Flash of a beautiful face and the night sky. Was I underground? No, I think it was a cave. A fire roared. His hair fell in front of his face as he hovered over me and his eyes. Why did I know those eyes? And then nothing.
I gasped and sat up straight, struggling to catch my breath. I looked around me and took in my surroundings. I was right. I was in a cave with fire, but I remember nothing of how I got here or who brought me either. It was silent. I could hear the pounding of my own heart racing. It wasn’t until I felt the slight shift in the earth that I drew my blade from my ankle and lunged at him; he blocked all of my attacks. He was a skilled fighter. I could tell by the way he evaded me.so I fought hard, landing blows to his body. Finally, my blade made it to his neck.
“Ve dos iya'' I pushed all the weight on him as he was a whole foot and five inches taller than me.
“I don’t speak Mareenian,” He said though I didn’t understand him well enough. He smirks at my confusion. I pushed my blade closer to his throat. He nodded to my arm. My eyes moved to where the arrow had hit me earlier. It was cleaned and wrapped in a cloth. He cleaned my wound. When my eyes met his again, his hand were up, showing he wasn’t a threat. Everything that I was trained for and taught seemed to have left me because, for some reason, I put the blade down and stepped back from him.
I felt something at that moment, like a feline slowly walking its way into my mind, nothing hurt, but words and memories started to play. Everything that happened after we had gotten knocked over, him carrying my body to a cave on the mountain. He was in my head, going through my mind until my morning dreams. I shut him out quickly, no longer in whatever trans he had put me before he saw anything too personal. He took a step forward, touching my head, but I hit my hand away from my face.
“I’m Nyx” he straightened his clothing. He didn’t look like he was dressed for a fight. Nyx, the High Lord of Nights son.
“I wasn’t expecting to fight today,” he answered the question I hadn’t asked.
“Stay out of my head, daemati,” I spat at him.
“I didn’t need to be in your head; your face is quite expressive” He gave me a cocky smirk though his face fell.
“Hmmm, empath,” he said as if he was tasting the word.
“I’ve never met an empath before.” He took another step, but I held my blade out once again.
“I am not your enemy.” He said he moved over to the other side of the fire he had started to build a crane. He must have gone out and caught food while I rested enough for both of us.
“I am Em- Emallia” he looked over his shoulder. I was unsure if he bought the lie I told, but now that I know he is a high lord's son, that makes the son of him an enemy.
“I must go,” I said, moving toward the entrance to the cave. I ignored my body telling me to stop telling me to rest. I needed to get back. I need to see my family and my home. I needed to talk to my mother and tell her I was okay.
“Not yet; you lost a lot of blood; you need food, water, and rest. I healed your wound, but your body still needs time.” I didn’t argue. I knew he was right; I wouldn’t get far with how I felt. So I didn’t say anything else; I sat far away. He took out his own knife cutting different mushrooms. The smell of the animal he caught filled the cave. He added the mushrooms and cut some berries. When done, he walked over with the food on a metal saucer.
“I only have this, so it looks like we will have to share this one plate.” The food was piled up on one plate, a mountain of food though I’m sure this won’t be enough to fill him up. I push the plate in front of him.
“You first,” I said; after all, he got the food, and I would also know if the food was poisoned. He chuckled
“I’m not trying to poison one soldier and not one that I just healed, but I’ll take one bite, but you should eat first; I’ll eat what you don’t” after he took a bite of a mushroom, it looked safe, so I decided to eat to my fill. When I was done. He raised an eyebrow in question.
“Are you sure that's all you want to eat?” he questioned. I nodded, then moved against the wall. He took my silence as an answer and began to eat the rest of the food. When he finished, he took a sip of water and offered me the cantine. I eyed it before taking it. My dry throat felt the tremendous relief of water running down. When I was done, he still looked at me with that arrogant smirk.
“What does it mean,” he asked me.
“What?”
“Ve dos iya,” he said back. His pronunciation wasn’t horrible, though I wouldn’t tell him that I was worried it might make his ego bigger.
“It means who are you,” I answer.
“Ah…..Ve dos iya,” He repeated it, only this time much better. Fast learner. He laid flat on his back.
“Why?” I questioned him
“Why what?” He said
“Why did you heal me? You could have left me for dead or cut my throat. But you helped me clean my wound and feed me.”
“So you're asking why I saved you?” He asked. I nodded my head.
“Why did you save that woman from the arrow? You didn’t know her. You could have let it hit her, and she would have died” I didn’t know how to answer his question, maybe because I didn’t understand why I just did it.
“She’s my mother,” he says lowly, not meeting my eyes. “And if you hadn’t done what you did, she might not be here, so thank you.”
I stayed quiet; somehow, I understood him. Maybe if I had been there when Annika died, she would still be her. The thought hurt. I felt heaviness return to my chest so fast that I had to turn away so he would see the tears forming. I bit down on my hand to stop the sob that almost made its way out. I took a deep breath to collect myself. Not here, not now. I took another breath.
He was quiet for a while before saying, “Get some rest; we will leave in the morning and go our separate ways.”
I laid my body down for the night, pushing the lump in my chest. I don’t know when sleep was found, but it pulled me underneath to deep sleep when it did see me.

Chapter 1
Chapter two
Emrys Pov
I watched the night sky enjoying it as if it would be my last as a warm breeze flowed in. Midnight my familiar lay at my feet, his bright yellow eyes alert, and his black fur shined in the moonlight. I was at peace petting the spoiled panther before me until I heard a knock at my door.
“Princess?” Sujeed moved his head into my room.
“Yes, General Sujeed,” my voice couldn’t hide my annoyance. I just wanted tonight. I just wanted a minute to process what tomorrow might be like. This will not be my first war. Mareen hadn’t been a place of peace, but after the civil war, I thought this would be it.
That night I was restless. I would close my eyes and want to sleep, yet that dream kept playing the same dream I had been having for months. The endless night sky, Music, Art, a bridge that crossed over water, and sometimes, on nights like this, I would see flashes of body parts, long dark hair, a woman’s smirk legs, and moaning. I never understood why I was having dreams of someone else’s pleasure, but they always ended the same, and that was with me staring at a mirror. I could not see the face, only the eyes, only the blue starry eyes.
My eyes slowly opened, and my mind and body came back together as I moved out of bed. The dream had already left my mind forgetting the eyes and the sky like it became a haze leaving me to not remember. Sometimes I try to remember whether their eyes were green or brown, at night or day, and that laugh was smooth or booming? I didn’t have time, though, to try and remember. It was early morning, but there was no light. The sun was breaking slowly in the sky while I put on my armor and fought maroon and gold leathers, the royal family's colors.
I had met the rest on the open field. My sister and I wore the same armor, and my mother wore all black, showing that she was still mourning. I had put my mask over my face, and my sister and I walked side by side with my mother as we met with what looked like the high lords of Prythian. I looked at all seven of then, and my face stopped at the only woman among their ranks.
“What is the meaning of this, Queen Kirsi? We have no problems nor want any of this for the people of Maureen.” A man with white hair and the ocean in his eyes said.
“There have been crimes committed against my people, and it is time that they are paid for with blood” my mother looked at the group of men before us and showed no fear.
“And do you plan on doing that by having children and women fight for you if it comes to war?” A man with brown hair and fire in his eyes said.
He motioned to my sister and me, standing next to my mother. I was smaller than most, and it seemed as though because of this, That arrogant man mistook me for a Child. I let a smirk appear on my face, but it was short-lived when I felt something shift beneath my feet.
Nyx Pov
We planned to meet on the Isle between the night court and Mareen. However, when we had gotten to the open field, the Maueenian queen and three others were already waiting. I straighten the appeal of my jacket and put my hands in my pocket. My mother and father are both at my side, along with Amren.
“Do you think it will come to a fight between the Mareenians and us?” I asked both of them
“The Mareenians are proud, ruthless people; I can’t see them backing down from this fight if it comes to that, but that is not why we are here though we all did bring reinforcements,” Amren said as we walked closer to the middle of the battlefield.
“Rhys, Do you think it’s wise to just walk into the open field like this” my mother followed in step with us.
“This isn’t like Hybren Feyre, darling; we have a chance to talk this out and hopefully avoid the bloodshed of thousands,” My father explained; we made it to the middle, standing in front of the Queen, a man who was the same height as me the second oldest daughter and a tiny warrior who was close to amen size their face was covered the only thing I notice was familiar pare of chocolate eyes that narrowed as it pierced through me I threw them a smirk. All of us took a slight bow.
“Your Grace, I am glad you have decided to meet with us here.” My father said Amren. However, she translated it into their language. I listen closely, seeing if I can piece together what they are saying. Unfortunately, I can't keep up with what they are saying.
“What is the meaning of this, Queen Kirsi? We have no problems nor want any of this for the people of Maureen.” High lord Tarquin had claimed
“The queen says that a great offense has been…..brought the death of her firstborn child” Amren tone was low.
“I am sorry for your loss, your grace. I can't begin to imagine what you must be feeling,” My mother said.
“And do you plan on doing that by having children and women fight for you if it comes to war?”Baron was next to open his arrogant mouth. I didn’t bother to hide my annoyance.
“I understand your loss, but-“ The small one dressed in a maroon stepped forward. I almost followed suit wanting to protect my family, But they held their hand up.
“She said to wait….” I stopped and listened although I heard nothing, I sensed nothing. The Female warrior bent down and felt the earth, closing her eyes and listening to it as if she was the only one who could hear it. In a split second, she jumped up, pushing my mother out of the way and putting a shield around us all, but she wasn’t fast enough. A stray arrow that would have hit my mother hit her arm instead, giving her a flesh wound.
“It was an ambush,” The queen said in a heavy accent.
“This wasn’t us; we swear by it,” Amren said
The Queen raised her hand, and the Mareenians army came down above the mountains, swarming the battlefield, but they weren’t met without force. The Illyrian armies rushed to the sky with arrows and swords. The other lords had their troops charging the area. The high lord of autumn drew his sword and lunged toward the queen with such speed and force that my eyes almost missed him, but the small soldier drew the hilt to their sword. It had no blade. I moved to stop them, but a blade made of lighting sprung for the handle and broke the sword in half. She smiled and swung again. I moved to push the girl out of the way because she didn’t see Eris sneaking his way behind her. So now it was our swords that crashed.
“Move out of my way, brute,” he said through his teeth.
“This doesn’t have to be a fight, Eris” he pushed off and rushed into what now looked like a battlefield sword crashing. Screams were echoing. The sounds of flesh being cut rang through my ears. And the sounds of my beating heart thumped with adrenaline. I looked at my mother and father, who were holding their own.
“Nyx! Get your mother and Amren out of here now!” He yelled over the sounds of the fight.
“What about you!” I fought my way to him.
“Do as you're told and go!” Finally, I made it to where my mother and Amren were. I fought the two men that were surrounding them. I held them both in my arms.
“Hang on. I’ll get us out of here.” I was about to take off when I saw the warrior from earlier fight off at least eight Barons men by herself, holding her still-injured arm; the injury she got protecting my mother.
“Mother takes Amren and gets out of here,” I said, heading toward where she was fighting.
“But your father said-“
“I know what he said, mother, but please go. I owe her this” her eyes went over to the warrior fighting for her life with the disadvantage of her injury.
“Be quick” I nodded off and ran to her. But in a moment, something hit the battlefield hard then mere force sent all of us flying. I caught her mid-air, hitting the ground and rolling with her in my arms. The blast's power sent us far away from the battlefield but for a brief moment,
I saw him and Ranthain.
