Here's a doodle of all the horror movies I watched for the first time during October !

Couldn't do every single day of October and missed out on a lot of films i planned to watch due to work and such, most were watched with friends, some (like the obvious scream-binge I had) were by myself! I plan to continue this chart for every Horror movie I watch after this post!

AWARDS:

I got an A in film studies so my opinion is obviously fact

WORST/LEAST SPOOKY:

Obviously Jennifer's Body got the worst points, but I didn't even choose that one so Jennifer gets a mere participation award, I'm not even going to talk about that one.

Besides her, the winner is the Exorcist! Congratulations????

I'm sorry, I do not care for exorcism horror, I think religious horror is badass, and posession/exorcism should be too, but it's lame. This just felt like my priest was wiggling his fingers at me with a flashlight under his chin. HOWEVER - I CAN appreciate the impact it had on horror and pop culture, and its theme is awesome.

BEST/MOST SPOOKY:

I liek these ones..... :) they scare me

okay well Sadako not as much, she's too cute to spook me, as well as the film being mostly buildup and story than spooks. The well scene though? EOUGH. It's like touching wet food while washing dishes but x10 worse. I love Ringu and dear little Sadako very much!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre was slightly horrifying, everytime Bubba showed up I went AAH even if it wasn't a jumpscare, maybe I'm just afraid of hillbillies? Lmao. Everything about Bubba's house just creeps me out, especially that red room with all the animal heads, why did any of the victims willingly go in there???

The spook factor went down pretty hard when I saw Bubba interacting with his family though, but that's not a bad thing for the film itself. I just couldn't be scared with how much I sympathised with Bubba, the 6"5 stroganoff of a man turned into a confused child in front of my very eyes. I love TCM a whole lot, my only complaint is that it was too short, I wanted it to be LONGER.

So My Bloody Valentine gets the TRUE Spook Award, and I thought Harry Warden was pretty adorable to look at, but no, he's beastly. I was creeped out almost the entire film. The gore was scarily creative and brutal, even if I didn't go AAH as much as something like TCM, I was cold when things got tense.

But eh...thanks for reading....here's a bonus award *opens my other palm*

If there is anything that makes me wanna say "I called it" on, it's the characterization of the Daycare Attendant (Sun specifically) in Help Wanted 2. My version of Sun's personality is almost exactly like the Sun in HW2, and I made him after playing Security Breach (the only difference being he cusses and that Moon is more chill).

I deadass looked at this cheerful weirdo we barely got to see in that game and went "he is both the only adult serving cunt and the most friendly guy to ONLY children out there". And now that's CANON. He is the exact opposite of that one meme image that has "fuck them kids" on it. Sun says "fuck them adults" lmao.

Fans of the project and lovers of classic lit in general are invited to join us over at The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk’s official Discord server! (Victorian formal wear not required.)

Come chat about the comic, discuss your favorite classic books, rotate blorbos, or just hang out and chill with us. Server rules and invite link under the cut:

Rules

1. Racism, fatphobia, transphobia, aphobia, identity policing, etc. will not be tolerated. This is an inclusionist, queer-supportive space.

2. Be respectful. We’re all here to have fun and discuss the comic together, but that will all hinge on how we treat each other! Please be respectful of others' boundaries, ideas, and preferences. Avoid cutting people off to change the subject mid-conversation. If a ship, headcanon, etc doesn't interest you, just avoid it rather than putting it down. Keep in mind that we have members who are ESL, neurodivergent, etc, and may not be on the same page re: tone and jokes. Tone indicators (like /j for joking and /s for sarcasm) can be useful in these circumstances, especially if someone requests them. While this isn't an age-restricted server, all members are expected to generally interact on an adult level and take responsibility for their behavior.

3. No NSFW content. Swearing is okay, just don't be nasty to people.

4. Don't police others' ideas. Don't insist others conform to your headcanons/popular fanon.

5. Use spoiler cuts for commonly triggering content. Put a warning in parenthesis before the cut: “(suicide) [[spoilered text]].”

6. No dragging in outside drama. This includes from other fandoms, other discords, or gossiping about fans outside the server. We also ask that discourse topics not be brought up in the server.

7. Please avoid sharing sensitive private information. Examples: your age if you're a minor, where you live, mental health issues, etc. Please keep in mind that this is a public server that includes strangers.

8. This server is not a space to vent about other lit fans. There’s a difference between criticizing annotations or bad adaptions, and aiming at others in fandom. As a rule of thumb, we want to keep discussions to the books/ideas rather than fellow fans of those works.

9. The server owner/moderators have final say with regards to the rules. Please respect the mods' decisions.

#okay i actually want to rant a bit 😭 - not advised to read this because then you might get brain damage #because oh my god??????? weird #(was going to write an entire diary but nvm here’s the gist of it)#basically i was coming home from this chem thing right #i used the train as i always do when it comes to this. and because the new station just got a shiny renovation it is now connected to the #new mall in front of it (we have two now it’s an addition to the first one). and guess what 😭#i had to go in and get to the first mall because my dad said he’d just pick me up at the lobby instead of the bus stop in front of #the station entrance right.#and when i was on the elevator going up on a call with my mom about food orders 😭#the guy i used to have a very very VERY heavy crush on in middle grade got to the elevator leading down just as i was on the landing 😭😭#and i had to make sure i wasn’t hallucinating so as he was descending and his back turned to me i examined the back of his head and i’m #pretty sure it was him. curiosity killed the cat i should’ve remembered that shit because you know what my stupid ass did??#i was already walking away on my way to cross to the first mall but then that curiosity got the better off me and i steppedonto the elevato #leading down 😭 and followed him out into (apparently) the fucking bus stop #oh my goddd I JUST REALIZED this is my the one moment help #except i don’t think he recognized me because i was never even friends with him lmao. wrote tons of poetry about him ✅#actually had one proper conversation with him ❌#i was delusional and kept alone with my thoughts living in my head do not judge me #but seriously even though i don’t really care about him anymore this would’ve been (unfortunately) SUPER important to middle grade me #she would’ve taken it as a sign or something and write like five pages about it #and i just keep thinking about that #funny how things change because IF YOU KNEW how many credits and exaggerated compliments i gave him in my old journal #oh you would’ve laugheddd #like i used to SPEND SO MUCH TIME pondering over him it’s so 😭#i used to have an oc and i think i based it on my idea of him and then i think that idea of him was even the reason i started to TRY to #write poetically. and i used to relate every taylor swift love songs to him (esp the ones in debut lover and rep and fearless) IT WAS SO #FUNNY LOOKING BACK AT IT NOW #i think he did see me though. i put on this act as if i was searching for someone confused and then (my go to) pretended someone called me #and then i whisked off as if to find that someone #i’d like to think i look pretty cool though. not because of anything (def not my looks because i was SO TIRED from that extra chem lessons
