Dinner is over, what more could the night hold...
"See, that wasn't so bad was it?" Diyan sat back after they had finished eating.   Most of the meal had been in silence.   What wasn't, had been him apologizing to her and trying to get her to relax.  Arik was no doubt going to have a lot to say to him later.
"No, but now it is over and I will be returning to my cabin." It wasn't just the Captain that had her wanting to get out of there.  What he'd said about Arik’s words still had her heart aching.
"Is there any way I could convince you to have coffee with me and talk for a bit?" He rose and walked over to offer her a hand to help her stand. "Nothing more. Just talk. We got off to a bad start and I upset you this evening.   I would like to remedy that."
Inara took his hand to stand then felt herself pulled closer to him.   She looked up into his face and saw what she thought to be sincerity.  "Noar, what are you hoping to accomplish with all of this?" She gestured to the table. "I've made my feelings clear. "
"Renisa," his hand not joined with hers rose to run his fingers down the side of her face softly, "you have.  I won't lie that I'd like to change those feelings." He stepped closer to her, seeing how far she'd let him go.
"And this is what you think it would take to do that? A nice dinner and some seductive looks will make me forget that the man I am starting to care about is not in this room,  but up on the bridge?" Inara remembered what Noar had said about Arik not being with a woman like her, and had a feeling she knew why.  Noar stole them.
"Yet he didn't protest this dinner."  He closed the small space between them.  "He didn't declare you his.  Didn't tell me not to touch, hold, or kiss.  He said nothing of the sort." His fingers caressed her face as his drew nearer.
"In fact he didn't say not to do anything you might enjoy.  So what does that say?" He was going to kiss her.  As defiant as she seemed, she was going to let him.
"Is that so?" Inara’s heart hurt even if she knew why Arik might have done just as Noar said. She was trying not to get drawn in by those whiskeyed pools of Noar’s but it was hard with the way he was looking at her and the deep and seductive tone of his voice.
"It is, Renisa.  He may care about you, but not enough to say anything." His voice deepened. His fingers danced across her skin.  Almost there…
The shove away from her and hard slap Inara delivered caught the Captain off guard.  "Maybe he was saving his breath.  Goddess knows you haven’t listened to me because it's not what you want to hear.   You say he hasn't had a woman like me? Maybe because you were too busy seducing them into your bed, or his other best friend, the asshole Prince, was."  Her eyes were narrowed and she was trying to control herself, her hands balled to fists as she shook lightly.   She was beginning to not believe a word of what Noar said, even if it stung.  Something felt off.
"Now wait a minute, Renisa…" He was going to die.  Arik would kill him.
"No, you don't get to tell me what to do.  Throw me off at the next port if you have to, but I'm not some prize for you to try to win.  I’m not a rope for tug-of-war.  I've made it clear how I feel about your supposed best friend and you keep trying to seduce me and change my mind.  I'm done listening to you.  If I didn't know better I'd swear you were the asshole Prince Diyan who I was…" Inara’s anger had gotten the better of her and she'd almost given away who she saw.  Arik was going to be upset.  Her eyes widened as she realized what she’d just done and she backed up away from him more.
Diyan felt he'd had all the air knocked out of him.   He was before her in one step, both her upper arms in his hands. "Who you were, what?"  His words came out sharper than he’d intended and his face was closer to hers, needing to know what she was about to say.  There was no way that she was going to finish the sentence the way he thought she would.
She huffed, trying to play it off. "That I loathe.  I owe you no explanations, Noar."  Her eyes narrowed and her voice dripped venom.  "The only difference between you and the Prince is at least he has royalty going for him.  You don’t, but otherwise your egos are the same size, as is your behavior.  I want nothing to do with either of you." She wrenched her arms free from him and all but ran from the room.  She knew he didn’t believe her lie.  There was no way he didn’t know.  Oh by the goddess and all the fates, what had she done!?
Diyan stood there trying to process what just happened.  Had he been hosting his fiance this whole time? The more he went back over Arik's words, the more that he became convinced he had; and that now he had made things even worse for everyone.

Rewatching my very first proto oh, girls gay awakening: Keira Knightley in Princess of Thieves. 2001. Does everyone have a Keira Knightley movie in their sapphic story or is it an overplayed stereotype?
Edit: this gif is from King Arthur. Oops!

Was talking to @gayfergus about Disney Robin Hood and other characters from the story who should get add in/Robin and Marian’s kids, and got inspired to doodle some ‘Canon Descendants’ designs for my own take on them. Based them off of Gwyn from Disney’s “Princess of Thieves” cuz Kiera Knightley is amazing and Roland from OUAT cuz he’s adorable

Ranking Keira Knightley movies I've seen
Found this ranking I made of Keira Knightley movies in one of my old notebooks and had to share with the world this new year's eve (worth noting that some of them like Imitation Game and Anna Karenina weren't originally on the list, so I added them tonight)
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - Keira Knightley is not in it enough. when she is, she's indistinguishable from Natalie Portman. 1/10
Princess of Thieves - baby Keira Knightley chops off all her hair and makes me bisexual. is a cutie with a reasonable amount of chemistry with the charming love interest. wins over grouchy dad by saving england and being good at archery. 8/10
King Arthur - Keira's acting is great but i don't think the writers knew what to do with her. i do love her costumes though. 5/10
Never Let Me Go - i barely remember anything about this movie. book was probably better. -1/10
Atonement - OMG!!! the PASSION. the YEARNING. this is the first tragic WWII romance i ever experienced and it DELIVERS. mostly though it's the green dress. the one she's wearing when she has sex with the faun from the narnia movies. that green dress belongs in Titanic or something illustrious. i don't think this movie's appreciated enough. i think it's time for a rewatch. 12/10
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms - little known (no one but my mom and i ever saw it) but holy SHIT is the world missing out. Keira puts on this high-pitched voice as the EVIL SUGAR PLUM FAIRY in a giant tuto. she is by far the best thing about the movie which unfortunately is lackluster in every way. 6/10 and all 6 are for her
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World - this movie should not be allowed to be so darn cute when it's about the literal apocalypse but it is and Keira is cute in it. she gets to go on a roadtrip with Steve Carrell in hopes of seeing her parents again before a giant meteor hits the earth and kills everyone. has a surprisingly touching ending. 8/10
Begin Again - i like anything where Keira sings. she's also a good role model for mark ruffalo's daughter in this. not my favorite John Carnye movie (that would be Sing Street which came out three years later) but definitely watchable. 7/10
Love Actually - why didn't they let Keira do anything in this movie? -2/10
Imitation Game - more tragic WWII stuff, though not as gutting as Atonement. Keira gets a turn playing the normal (albeit v. smart) person playing opposite Benedict Cumberbatch being weird. she does just as good a job as Martin Freeman while being way hotter. (also helps that the movie is better written than Sherlock.) her story isn't the tragic part and i'm not going to make jokes about Alan Turing who deserved much better than he got. 7/10
Anna Karenina - despite plalying the character whose name is the title, Keira was not in this enough. costumes were good but movie was approximately 1000 years long. still haven't forgiven my college boyfriend for making me watch it. -5/10
Pride & Prejudice - not my favorite Austen adaptation but you can't say Keira's not having the time of her life. she's a little giggly -- Elizabeth is more dry -- but she's definitely pretty and does a good job with the material given. Rosamund Pike may be the only person as good as her. 6/10
Bend It Like Beckham - the movie that launched a thousand lesbians. Keira gets put on the map as a tiny cute blond tomboyish lesbian soccer (ahem, *football*) player. she's a treat. 10/10
Pirates of the Caribbean - THE Keira Knightley movies. the dresses? check. the sword fighting? check. Pirate King with men falling at her feet? check, check, and check. best thing about the triology. got to kiss three dudes (sao feng doesn't count), gives a rousing third act speech, and gets to be the character who got the "keeps removing weapons from more and more illogical places on her person" trope. plus she sings! (a little.) disney did not deserve her and neither did any man in those movies. (orlando came closest though) 10 million/10

Hi CJ, it's Monday, and I remembered there was something like Meet and Greet Monday back in the day when asks were sent to be answered in-character. Don't worry, I go a different route. lol If I walked a busy place in a big city in your setting, which character of yours am I most likely to meet? How would I meet them, and how would they react?
Good Morning, Jess!
I'm going to answer for each of my WIP's because I'm just in that mood today :) And...I love this idea!!
@theimperiumchronicles -
Most likely Mithos or Thinius since they are head of Abriella's legion. They would be working and making sure that there was order. They know pretty much after so many centuries who belongs and who doesn't, so they might ask if you need help or are enjoying your visit. They would be friendly but professional. Thinius is more friendly than Mithos is.
@bendingthelaws -
You'd probably run into either Karsten, Declan, or Keegan. As cops and a firefighter, they are often found on the streets while doing their jobs. They interact with the public for a variety of reasons. As long as you're not breaking the law, or setting fires, they are all three very friendly and laid back men.
@bombsbodyguardsbroken -
If visiting the great state of Lousisana and visiting a museum you'd be most likely to run into Melania herself. She is on the board or a scholar emeritus at every historical museum in the state. She will often be in one to give a lecture, help curate a collection, or lend advice to a curator regarding an artifact or exhibition. She is very outgoing and friendly, loving to engage the public when they are interested in archaeology or history in general.
@magical-mistakes-vm -
You would most likely run into Vollrath if you were in his territory. He likes to meet visitors personally to ascertain whether they are of any threat to either himself or his Coven. While his interactions with Mahala have been unique in that there is some softness and seeming affection between them already, that is not the normal. A brick wall is how he is often described, and extremely intimidating. You'll probably want to get away from him as quickly as possible. He'll seek you out, although you'll most likely wish he didn't.
@princess-of-thieves-id -
Since both Inara and Diyan are in hiding from their respective parents and kingdoms, Arik is the one you are most likely to meet in a market picking something up for one of the others. While he looks intimidating being, tall, dark, handsome, and deadly, he is quite friendly. As long as you don't mention the Prince or the Princess, you'll be fine. Mention either of those, and you get to visit a real life pirate ship...as a prisoner.
@the-andromeda-effect -
More than likely you won't meet Riona or Caliban on the streets of the city where they live, and for good reason. Riona is "dead" so she cannot be seen around those who might recognize her, and Caliban tends to avoid groups of people who might know him. Instead you would meet his attorney and best friend, Theron. He's all business, but if you catch him in a good mood, the man does have a wicked sense of humor. He's also a gentleman, so he will be holding the door for you.
@tapperhet-em -
Princess Meeri has a price on her head, so she is in hiding, which leaves her knight, Einar. Like Arik, he will most likely be picking up something for her in a shop. He would do anything for Meeri, including purchasing any items she needs, however if those items are of a feminine nature he is going to do so as discreetly and fast as possible. If they are intimate garments, he is not going to want anyone else to see them, he's rather possessive/jealous that way. So, if you bump into him, it doesn't matter what gender you are, he's going to be flustered and try to hide them. Don't laugh, be sweet, and feel a little empathy for the poor man.
@devil-in-the-details-ay -
You will probably run into Yara and Astaroth together. TOGETHER is now their key word and they do a lot that way. After what happens when they go to fulfill Lucifer's contract, Astaroth doesn't leave her alone much when there is a chance her father's employees could show up. He likes to take her out to dinner especially, she is a foodie. So you'd probably run into them waiting to be seated at a restaurant. You will get the best food recommendations from the couple. They will be friendly and Yara will blush a log at Astaroth's attentions, he assumes everyone works for Lucifer so he likes to show that he does not hate Yara the way her father does. It's cute. If you get along with Yara, you may be invited to dine with them and have dinner paid for, along with getting a few extra years added to your life.

Ever had a day where nothing went right? It seems that Noar, Inara, and Arik all are!
“Inara, you are being irrational.  In less than twenty-four hours you are to be married, you cannot just run off!”  The Princess’ best friend Leona said to her over the phone.
“Ah, yes, let me marry a man I don’t know and have never laid eyes on.  No.  I will let you know when I get somewhere safe.  I need to go.”  Before her friend could argue more, Inara hung up the phone.  She had preparations to make.  There were two guards outside the door to her suite.  Who knew how many lined the halls of her father’s castle.  However, for the past week, she had mapped out the exact escape route she was going to use to get the fuck out of dodge before she was tied to life to some mewling Prince from a country her father wanted peace with.  Daddy could work out the details later.
Little did Inara know that the Prince’s family had anticipated her escape, or at least an attempt to.  While her father had put guards everywhere not only to make sure she did her “daughterly duty”, but also to make sure that no one interfered; the Prince’s family had assigned one special guard, Arik, to the Princess.  Adept at hiding in shadows, he was often in the room with her without her even knowing it.  During her phone conversation with Leona was one such time.
There was only one problem, Arik was the best friend of Prince Diyan.  Due to this, he knew that the Prince didn’t want the wedding either.  Would letting the Princess escape be the worst thing to happen if he made sure that she was not harmed?  It was something he was having to consider while watching her change into all black and put her hair up in some kind of bun.
In the end, his loyalty to his best friend won out.  Diyan didn’t want the ceremony, neither did Inara.  Why should they be forced?  Diyan was fully capable of brute force strengthing his way out of things, but the Princess seemed to have worked out how to do it too.  If he kept her alive, maybe he could keep his head when this was all over.  There was no doubt that Diyan would step in for him, at least Arik hoped so.
Out the window, along the stone ledge, up the clay drain pipe, across a roof, down onto another room, another, another, and Arik caught up with the Princess.  A hand over her mouth kept them both from being discovered.  “You want out of here, I can help.  I’m supposed to keep an eye on you, but I know that a marriage isn’t what the Prince wants either.  Let me keep you safe, and I’ll go with you.”
Inara considered her options.  The only one that wasn’t going to get her locked up in the gilded cage she’d been in since birth was to go along with him.  She nodded, and the hand over her mouth was removed.  “Fine, but can we GO?!” If they had not been trying to evade trained soldiers Arik would have argued more with her. Instead he got in front of her and motioned with his head to have her follow.  He’d help her with any obstacles and reduce the chance of injury.  For her part, he had to hand it to Inara, she was in good shape, they made great time, and by the time they had slipped away from the castle and into the darkened streets of the surrounding city, she had even picked up shadow jumping like he did to conceal himself.
Another two hours and they were outside of the city.  They had four hours till sunup, just enough time to make it to the next town where there was a port.  If they can get on a vessel before it sets sail at dawn, they will be able to slip out to another kingdom with no one the wiser.  Most of the ships dock at the next kingdom, or one over from that, so at most a day’s boat ride from where they are.  They can do that easily without provisions.  Arik and Inara talk in hushed tones and whispers as they move, helping one another in the darkness so they do not have to use light and give away their flight from the castle.
Much quicker than they had anticipated, they were in the next town, which fortuitously was a port.  Even more so for them was the fact that there were several boats moored in the port.  It would seem that they might have their choice of vessels to stow away on and make their escape, hopefully before anyone back in the castle realized that Inara was missing.
Taking a position off to the side of the loading area of the port, they watched the movements of the crew for each of the vessels.  It was clear that one was much closer to leaving than the others.  That would be the one they would take.  With at least one royal army that would soon be searching for them, the last thing they wanted to do was remain where they could be easily found.  No doubt Arik would also have a price on his head for “letting” her escape.  If it was found out he helped her, possibly death if Diyan didn’t save him.
As soon as the coast was clear, they kept to the shadows and were quickly aboard.  Inara let Arik lead, as he seemed more familiar with vessels than she was, and he quickly found a storage room where he was able to find a space between a few palettes of supplies where they could hide.  Now they would just have to hope the voyage was either a short one or that they were able to pilfer rations till the next harbor where they could make their exit and figure out what to do next.  Hopefully Arik would be able to then get ahold of Diyan and gain his assistance.
The first hitch in their plans came shortly after they felt vessel lift anchor, the gentle sway as it rolled with gentle waves and movement giving that notice.  At the wrong moment, Arik sneezed.  There was no way to cover the sound, and there were too many other people in the store room for it to be missed.  Even keeping to shadows and moving as much as they could, it was less than fifteen minutes before they were found.  Arik was knocked unconscious, Inara only had her hands bound.
Up to the Captain’s Office they were taken.  “Sir, we have stowaways.  If we go back, those soldiers that we were told were coming will be there and we risk arrest.  What do you want to do with them?”  The leader of those holding them asked. He was partial to throwing them overboard and letting the fish deal with them.
Captain Noar sighed heavily and ran a hand through his long hair.  This was the last thing they needed.  They already had at least a legion on their tale.  "Fuck! How many?"
"Two, sir.  Man and woman," was the reply he got. At least it wasn’t more, two they might be able to deal with.
"Bring them in. Let's see if we can do something with them or we're going ro add murder at sea to our charges."  Noar was going to kill someone by the end of the day, he knew it.  Could just one thing go right?
The man nodded and headed out, returning a few minutes later all but dragging Inara and another man literally dragging Arik.  This is when a bigger hitch in their plans happened.
As soon as Noar saw Arik his whole demeanor changed.  Anger filled his face and he cleared the room of all but Inara and the still unconscious Arik. Inara soon was backing up as the six foot four inch Noar was stalking towards her.
"What is the meaning of coming on my ship?!  Who the fuck are you?!" Before Inara could even answer she was against the wall by her throat.  Her hands were bound, she was at his mercy.
Hoping he would not recognize her middle name, Inara decided to give that instead of her first.  She was already a hostage, but if the Captain thought he could get a massive amount of money for her, it could get worse.  It wouldn't be the first time it happened, and none of the previous ones had been pleasant.
"I'm Renisa, he's a friend of mine.   We're running from our parents." She started to shake and cry.  The Captain’s brown eyes seemed to be trying to bore holes into her.  "We just picked the first ship leaving port to get off land fastest." Her voice shook and her breathing was getting faster, slowly black was beginning to cloud the edges of her vision.
“Why shouldn’t I just have you and your friend thrown overboard?  I need a reason to keep you alive, Miss Renisa.  This isn’t some kind of floating charity.” Noar was resisting the urge to squeeze.  These two were completely fucking up all fo his plans without realizing.  Since Arik was unconscious, his friend was going to be the one to take the brunt of Noar’s rage over it.  Not necessarily her fault, but sucked it be her.
"Unless you would like another scar to match the one on your left, you will remove your hand from her throat and apologize for touching her." Arik's voice came from behind Noar.  He had a knife to his back and was prepared to stab him if need be.  He'd honestly prefer not to, but if pushed, he would.  Inara was innocent and didn’t deserve whatever the fuck was going on.
Noar stood there for a moment assessing the situation.  He would find out what was going on, but he wanted to keep his kidney.  One thing he knew, the asshole with the knife did not get beautiful women like the one he had pinned to the wall.  So there had to be one hell of a fucking story of how this happened and why he was about to resort to violence over her.
"Fine.  Then you are both going to tell me the truth of what is going on.  Aren't you Miss. Renisa and Mr. Arik?"
