Sleepless Nights

Warnings: unedited, Shouta has night terrors, Fluffy with only a hint of angst, this is me trying to get past art block

It didn’t start like this. At first he wasn’t willing to ever relax around you. He never stayed the night, always saying that you’ll sleep better if he’s not around.

Until one day he comes over a little later than usual. Decided to swing by after a stressful patrol. You settle in on the couch with a mug of tea and something mindless playing on the tv. And he dozes off with his arms clutching you tightly to his chest.

That’s when you find out what he meant. As he drifts further into dreams, he almost throws you off of him. Eyes racing behind his eyelids and his heartbeat is so wild it rattles thru your body.

Shouta is not a peaceful sleeper. His job has taken not only his waking hours but also the precious few moments of rest. So you try to be there for him. Wiggling to lay squished between him and the back of the couch and wrapping yourself around him. And at first he tenses and you think to let him go. But he lets out a long breath and the tension goes out of his body.

You both spend the rest of the night asleep in that barely comfortable position. Shouta wakes up first. Bleary eyed and confused, until he remembers dragging himself to your front door and practically collapsing on your couch.

“Sweetheart”

The first thing you register is Shouta laying facing you as the sunlight streams into the living room.

“Everything okay? I hope I didn’t overstep, it’s just that you were having a nightmare and I didn’t know what else to do...”

He places his hand on your cheek as you trail off.

“Everything’s fine darling. I honestly got the best sleep I’ve had in a while.”

Your heart is almost out of your chest with the tender smile he gifts you.

“If your old offer still stands, I’d like to stay the night more often.”

And we're back for another update! Let's see who was paying attention to a new development on UA campus. ;) This chapter is not Izuku heavy as there are other matters that need to be attended to for certain plot points to move forward.

The dorms have begun! Sh-sh-shout out to gac102 for suggesting starting the dorms earlier than canon. Took me a while to figure out exactly how and when that would make sense plot wise. Hopes this works for you peeps! As well as how Nezu manages to get Endeavor to agree. That part I'm not sure works so well but it's what I came up with. -shrugs- ^____^

Got a bit of a look into certain family dynamics. The Bakugous aren't as explosive. Still awkward around each other for Katsuki and Mitsuki but they're working on it. Aizawa has now seen the additions to the gallery but his full reaction to them will come up in a later chapter. They had things to do in this one. :P

Again, I hope this works for convincing Endeavor to agree. Underhanded but this is Nezu we're talking about. Also, I hope you liked the bit with Endeavor recognizing Aizawa and just being an asshole. Then we also have Fuyumi as a new ally! As for who is staying in the dorms, I decided by those whose birthplaces were furthest from where UA is supposedly. I made a reference map here if you're interested.

Fun Facts About Japan:

This one is more insight of the table and chairs they're sitting at for the talk in the Todoroki abode. Originally I had the line like this "It was very traditional with tatami mats, a lower chabudai floor table, zabuton cushions to sit on, and only one paired with a legless zaisu chai." but it felt a bit clunky to me. So I'll just talk about it here!

The overall 'traditional Japanese room' is called washitsu ( 和室 , わしつ ) and is sometimes referred to as the 'tatami room' as they typically have tatami flooring. If it is multiple rooms they'll be divided by sliding doors called fusuma ( 襖 , ふすま ) that are sometimes painted with different scenes. The room could also have sliding door/windows called shouji ( 障子 , しょうじ ) which are the lattice ones with the paper. If the room's purpose is to receive guests it could also have a built in alcove called a tokonoma ( 床の間 , とこのま ) for decorations like calligraphy scrolls or floral arrangements.

Now for the furniture, there could be a low table called chabudai ( 卓袱台 or 茶袱台 or 茶部台 , ちゃぶだい ) or in winter a kotatsu ( 炬燵 , こたつ ) which is a heated table. I practically lived sitting at my kotatsu in Japan 'cause I am a girl of the desert and actual winter weather is freaking cold to me! :P Brr. Anyway, you can sit either right on the tatami or you could sit on cushions called zabuton ( 座布団 , さぶとん ). I personally doubled up on the cushions when working in the tatami room in the Board of Education building on days I worked there. You could also attach what's called zaisu ( 座椅子 , ざいす ) which is a legless chair that provides back support. Not necessarily a show of power as I have it in the chapter but if there's only one spot at the table that has one...I would feel there was a bit of posturing. :P

On a side note, when I was writing and editing this chapter, I felt thinking back to one of the lessons in the first year textbook practicing "What's this? It's...." answer questions. I had to repeat that particular one so many times I feel it's engraved into my brain. I believe it went like this. "What's this?" "It's senbei. It's a rice cracker. Here, try one." "It's delicious. Thank you, Hiro." Short, simple, but my mind now always goes to that chapter's little practice dialogue whenever I hear or read senbei. I believe some of you also are or were ALTs like I was and could relate. I have another one with I think second years where the character Hiro is going to American to visit his uncle. The flight attendant's speech was another one I had to say a lot and I remember most of it. XD Oh my brain and memorizing things. Anyway, this was more of a side note than a fact.

Next up will be a rundown of the rest of Izuku's consulting sessions saving the 'best for last'. You'll see. :P We're getting closer to final exams, folks! All Might

The sweetness with which Toshinori kisses you doesn’t change whether he’s in his All Might form or not. He always holds you close, gently brushes your jaw with his thumb, and makes you feel more important than the world.

A faint taste of iron lingers whenever he kisses you; a bittersweet reminder of all he has sacrificed in the name of keeping everybody safe. You must never mention it to him – aware he would feel awful about it, no matter how much you reassure him.

He always pulls you closer for a second more, holding you just long enough to cement this moment in his memory. There’s not a second spent with you that he ever wants to forget.

Your favourite kisses with him are in areas you’ve never expected. The top of buildings, on the edge of cliffs, and things like that. He thought he’d outgrown such showboating but he can’t resist the chance to impress you.

Eraserhead

When Shota kisses you properly, you’re never able to predict it. He brushes your cheek, gently holds your jaw as he captures your attention for a few seconds of the day.

You can recognise the taste of coffee on his lips, no matter what time of the day it is. It’s something you can tease him about for ages and he’ll never acknowledge it with more than a small smile of acknowledgement.

He rarely lingers for long, often moving onto something else so you won’t be able to see the true effect you have on him. The soft smile you manage to draw out even on his worst days. He has to be careful not to let anybody know exactly where his greatest weakness lies.

On the extremely rare occasion, only in moments of deep emotion, will he kiss you in the company of others. It’s never anything particularly sweeping but there’s passion there unlike much else.

Hawks

Keigo kisses like it’s a game. He tilts your head toward him and pecks your lips a few times, not giving you a proper kiss until you initiate out of impatience. It gives him an opportunity to tease you and he never passes up on that.

There’s a scent he always wears – something fresh and reminiscent of a winter morning. It permeates through his kisses and makes the memories of his lips almost unforgettable.

His wings wrap around you whenever he kisses you. It’s unintentional, a subconscious way of making sure you’re truly at his side. The feathers often tickle your face due to this.

The best kisses with him come not when he’s showing off or fluttering around you. Instead, they come around in dark rooms when he feels unwatched and the only thing he has to focus on is you.

Endeavour

Enji’s kisses are surprisingly slow and deliberate but not at all lacking in the fiery control he maintains in all aspects of life. He holds you at the waist, pressing you fully against him.

His kisses taste of lingering ash, flavored like the warmth of a fireplace in the evening. There’s something about them that warms you from the inside out with even the smallest peck.

If he has his flames burning, he’s wearied of giving you any form of affection but on the off chance you manage to sneak a kiss, you may find out why. When lost in emotion with you, the fire he controls burns a little out of his careful hold.

Some days way heavier on him than others and these are the moments when his kisses turn a little more desperate, the hold he has on you grows needy and he never wants to let you go.
