to make changes to a story or to criticize it you have to first understand and respect it. arthurian legend exists on a wide spectrum the scope of which cannot be overstated. that’s not an excuse. try to interpret the deeper themes behind the layers of sometimes uncomfortable medieval subject matter anyway.
insofar as retellings go, merlin characterization varies wildly and i like many of them—from mary stewart’s asexual sweet thoughtful dad type to t. h. white’s silly weirdo old man to phyllis ann karr’s creepy inhuman predator type. i just need to be narratively convinced of it.
the movie sword of lancelot (1963) had a dagonet that told fun rhymes and offered worldly advice. king arthur (2004) dagonet was a stoic warrior with two lines of dialogue in the entire film and didn’t smile once. guess which film understood the material it drew from better and utilized the character in a meaningful way.
comprehension and respect is what sets john boorman’s excalibur (1981) at the top and leaves cursed (2020) wallowing at the bottom of the barrel. i’m not watching bc i heard the legendary sword excalibur was going to be on screen—i’m watching bc i want to become emotionally invested in a cleverly written character with lofty goals and interesting flaws wielding it. i want to root for them, imperfect though they be. but their faults have to be an intentional and thoughtful writing choice, not a result of poor planning on the creator’s part, and not an attempt to “fix” the medieval material and market to as broad an audience as possible. great king bad husband arthur succeeds where girlboss nimue fails.
i don’t want arthurian legend to suffer as greek mythology has suffered. i don’t want any of it watered down for modern sensibilities but neither do i want game of thrones 2. i don’t claim to be the final judge of what a “good” or “bad” arthurian adaptation is by any means. i like all of them! but i have read enough medieval literature and modern retellings and watched every film and show and documentary on the subject i can find, so i’m coming from that angle when i say a successful adaptation of medieval stories should act as a continuation of tradition. that can only be achieved when one considers the merit of the story above all else. capitalism will try to strangle it but we can’t let that happen. palatability or edginess for the sake of being palatable or edgy has no place in mythology and literary tradition.
all good stories are balanced, and the only way to be balanced is to admire the original stories and appreciate them for what they are, products of their time though they may be, and determine what the most compelling story you can tell with that material is. then write it down without any agenda in mind. it’s an art, not a science. so in the wake of booktok trends and weaksauce fantasy adaptations the likes of witcher (2019) and rings of power (2022) created by people who don’t like or understand the source material besieging our feeds, let’s create something beautiful. go forth and make stuff. gay knights and gay rights.

Merlin BBC UK TV Show - A Psychological Analysis Series Part 13
The Meaning Of Pendragon In The TV Show
The 3 prominent characters in the TV show who bear the Pendragon last name are Uther, Arthur and Morgana.
Tumblr media
The name has its origin in the Old Welsh language
Tumblr media
The Arthurian legends were mainly written in the medieval age.
However Arthur's literary origins lie in the Dark ages.
The TV creators have already stated it was their intention to reinterpret Arthurian legends using a modern Smallville format which is modern American in its narrative.
Source:
Even though the TV show does not specify the time period it is set in, it uses a lot of medieval imagery such as plated armor, chain mail, carriages etc.. which were all medieval inventions.
So this dark age last name used within a medieval world but portrayed through a modern 21st century American narrative takes a whole new meaning.
Tumblr media
The show also gives us a literal meaning to Pendragon as Uther even sent a dragon to the pen ( Kilgaragh is imprisoned underneath the cavern of Camelot )
Here the name takes the overtures of being a TYRANT.
______________________________________________________________
Uther:
Tumblr media
He fits the classic definition of a tyrant.
I don't even have to list all of Uther's crimes because Merlin as Dragoon literally calls him a tyrant to his face listing all his misdeeds in the following clip:
youtube
It is Uther who lends his last name to Morgana and Arthur and all the baggage that comes with it.
______________________________________________________________
Morgana:
Tumblr media
It is very telling that the moment Morgana realizes that Uther is her father, she rejects Uther as she does not want to associate with what Uther Pendragon represents.
However the Pendragon traits soon manifests within her as she undergoes the tragic transformation from being a brave and loyal friend who helped a lowly servant by going to his village and helping him defend it to being this embittered villainess who shows dictatorial traits.
Her struggle for self acceptance as a magical being and protesting against the persecution of magic users soon manifests as a crusade against the non magical users based on revenge.
The Pendragon legacy here acts as a genetic pathological mental illness that is triggered through grief and betrayal. Morgana being poisoned by Merlin being the trigger for Morgana as Ygraine's death was for Uther.
Tumblr media
______________________________________________________________
Arthur:
Tumblr media
Uther is the typical distant and repressive fatherly figure who has channeled all his hopes and emotions on his sole male heir i.e. Arthur.
Arthur had a strict military training who is only allowed to show his masculine, aggressive side
Tumblr media
Unlike Morgana, Arthur constantly feels the pressure to live up to Pendragon name. The Sword in the Stone: Part 1 and 2 episodes perfectly highlights Arthur's insecurities.
Merlin who is privy to Arthur's psyche more than anyone in the series, has seen the Pendragon rage manifest in Arthur such as:
Arthur willing to kill Uther (Refer Episode: The Sins of the Father)
Arthur banishing Gwen under the punishment of death (Refer Episode: Lancelot Du Lac)
Arthur vowing vengeance against Agravaine (Refer Episode: The Sword in the Stone Part 1)
Arthur vows to punish Dragoon after Uther dies (Refer Episode: The Wicked Day)
In all the above situations, it is Merlin who provides counsel and/or emotional support to Arthur to exercise prudence and not give in to his rage.
IT IS ONE OF THE KEY REASON WHY MERLIN DOES NOT REVEAL HIS MAGIC TO ARTHUR UNTILL THE VERY END !!!
youtube
The dialogue in the scene above is very revealing.
ARTHUR: Why did you never tell me?
MERLIN: I wanted to but...
ARTHUR: What?
MERLIN: You would have chopped my head off.
ARTHUR: I am not sure what I would have done
MERLIN: I did not want to put you in that position
ARTHUR: That's what worried you
Merlin knows the trigger for Pendragon rage is betrayal and grief.
Merlin knows it was his betrayal of Morgana that lead her down a dark path.
Tumblr media
Had Merlin revealed his magic to Arthur earlier he would never have earned Arthur's trust to be in a position to counsel him during his darkest moments.
Merlin being the other half of Arthur as stated by Kilgaragh acts a superego for Arthur trying to counterbalance his aggressive Pendragon tendencies .
Kilgaragh had told Merlin it was his mission to mold Arthur into being a great king. (Refer Episode: Dragons' Call)
Merlin's influence on Arthur is really exemplified in the episode "Death Song Of Uther Pendragon" , where Arthur confronts Uther:
youtube
Merlin then confronts Uther's ghost, reiterating that Arthur is indeed very unlike Uther.
Tumblr media
This episode ends with Arthur rejecting Uther and what Uther stands for, by blowing the Horn of Cathbhadh and sending Uther back to the spirit realm.
Tumblr media
______________________________________________________________
In Conclusion:
It was a masterful stroke by the series creators to have Morgana and Arthur introduced to the audience in contrasting light. (Refer Episode: Dragons' Call)
Morgana is shown distressed as a man is executed by Uther for being a sorcerer whereas Arthur is seen bullying one of his squires.
The audience is only privy to the information that Arthur is Uther's son and Morgana is unrelated to Uther resulting in the viewer sympathizing with Morgana and rooting against Arthur.
However as the series progresses and as Morgana's identity is revealed. We see her succumb to the Pendragon traits despite her abject hatred of Uther . Whereas Arthur ultimately rejects Uther and Uther's ideology despite constantly seeking his validation throughout the series.
Morgana ( Hero to Villan ) and Arthur's ( Villan To Hero) character arc ends up in complete opposite directions from where they began.
Both characters are scarred by trauma, loss and betrayals they have experienced compounded by the less than stellar parenting of Uther Pendragon.
It is very poignant that the series ends with Gwen on the throne and not a Pendragon signifying a new future for Camelot.

What is Queerbaiting?
Tumblr media
I had a good conversation about this with @ejassy the other day and figured I'd just make a post about it in case anyone else wanted to either share their own thoughts too or were just confused over what people mean when they say queerbaiting. Which CAN get confusing, especially when it gets used incorrectly ALOT.
So in short simple terms, for queerbaiting and its similar phrases?
Queer subtext: I normally think of this in 2 ways. The first being unintentionally gay. This was clearly not the intention of the writer ever, but the gay ships were just accidentally too full of chemistry and the ship shipped itself by accident even though the characters aren't "canon" gay (think batman and joker. Or Lord of the rings or Elsa from Frozen. Or like a good portion of misogynistic anime writers who can't write a female character that isn't flat AF lol)
Tumblr media
The second being where it can also be defined as INTENTIONALLY gay. Where instead of it being something that just happened, it was written like this pn purpose and with full intention of being queer and is in its own way, good queer representation, even if the queer relationship isn't ever technically confirmed, or only confirmed "off screen" by the writers. This is subtext and its sometimes left only as subtext because the romance is only a subplot or because of censorship. (Think Legend of Korra or Think Merthur from Merlin bbc.)
Tumblr media
Queercoding: acting queer or leaning into queer themes/subtext but not explicity queer for any number of reasons, including censorship for fictional universes or just being closeted. Basically there is enough subtext available for the audience to read them as queer regardless of if their sexuality is never confirmed either way. (Again, think Elsa. Or Jo March from Little Women, or think Nick Carraway from the Great Gatsby. Think of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji from The Untamed, the show not the web novel verison lol. Think Xena: Warrior Princess)
Tumblr media
Queerbaiting: obviously leaning into and promoting queer subtext and queer themes to keep gay fans on the hook and invested in your media with zero intentions of follow through. Almost at times even turning it into like a joke or just making it very obvious that the character was never actually queer. This was a term coined by queer theorist academics in the 1990s and didn't actually exist before then. This is not a term that can apply to real people. Real people can't queerbait. With very few exceptions to that "rule." Which I will discuss some of those possible exceptions in a bit. (Think Destial from supernatural, or Johnlock from Sherlock, or think Supercorp, Lena and Kara, from Supergirl. Or think Sam and Bucky from MCU, Bechloe from Pitch Perfect or Sterek from Teen Wolf. If anyone doesnt know why these would fall under a more queerbaiting label and dont already know, please feel free to ask for sure)
Tumblr media
There are some good sources out there that go into much more detail about what queerbaiting is, how it's been misused and more too as well if you have the time to watch them. This video was recommended from @guacamoli-avocadorado here. It is a great intro to the term and how it is used/should be used broken down in an easy to understand way. And it gives a bunch more examples like I shared above, etc.
youtube
And this one is longer but a really good and interesting dialogue about the topic. They take the definition of queerbaiting and expands upon it greatly as well as gives a very through dive down the history of queerness and queer subtext through film and media. This one was recommended by @chikooritajjk
youtube
Now, real people cannot queer bait. It's impossible UNLESS they have CONFIRMED their sexuality as "straight" and will sometimes "play gay," for an audience. And not just a straight actor playing a gay one, but doing something that is intentionally queer but backtracking and being like "well I mean, I'm straight so I didn't mean it." And doing so repeatedly and/or even making light of it or joking about it. Or even just being plain homophobic about it. Unless you are talking about the actions they take to promote their "brand" in an effort to profit off queer fans on purpose, while continuing to make it clear its not "that serious," then you could make an argument that that person is queerbaiting. Which, for clarification, two people of the same sex simply interacting together, even with lots of general affection, cannot be classified as queerbaiting ever. Especially because a person doesn't have to be "out" to act on their queerness. Our queerness is our own. No one gets to demand someone to give answers about their sexuality to confirm queerness or not before the public "decides" to keep trying to bully an answer out of them or not. You don't get to take self expression and someone else's comfort away from them for your own comfort in labels that don't belong to you anyway. The thing is, no one owes anyone any explanations about how they present themselves or what their sexuality is. You can't forcibly out people. "I think you are gay, therefore I'm owed an explanation and if you don't give me one, it means you are just queerbaiting" is WRONG. It's an umbrella media term, not a bullying tactic. This applys to everyone, random people off the street, actors, musicians, authors who write/engage in queer literature, public speakers, influencers, etc...
Tumblr media
There are some of kpop idol groups (or other celebrities in general) that could be classified as queerbaiting. Because they use queerness to build and promote their "brand" while otherwise never doing anything about it (even as an ally) and/or even being lowkey homophobic about it all or just continuing to make sure the audience knows they "arent actually gay." Or they use queerness in a way that fetishizies it, again without actually meaning it in any way. That's a whole seperate issue, and it could in ways be considered queerbaiting. Or it could more likely dig further into the issue of inauthenic queer fetishization used as a shock value for an audience to be used as sexual fantasies for their STRAIGHT audience, rather than to draw in a queer audience who are more looking for the possible authenticity of queerness or allyship in the celebrities/idols they are building these parasocial relationships with. Because again, unless you know what this person's sexuality is, how are you sure they aren't just exploring/or expressing their own queerness and aren't labeling it or are closeted for whatever their reasons may be, including just not being ready to come out yet.
Tumblr media
It is a fine line to walk, and there will probably be times in the "real life" instances above where you will have to use your own critical thinking skills to decide how you feel about things, etc. But for the most part, real people can't really queerbait. But hopefully this helps anyone who was/is confused. There are also a lot more resources out there if you wanted to continue looking into it. This is just what I know about it all myself too, if anyone has anything to add, they are free to do so. 💜

Feels like it's only yesterday I did one of these, but here we are again, another month down.
We're halfway through the year and through the round, and so far we've sent out 149 cards. 71 participants have created at least one fill, nine have a bingo, and two have filled every square on their card and come back for more!
June is always a busier month for fills, and this year is no different - we got a fabulous 72 fills by 29 wonderful participants. 52 were fics, 14 were artworks, two were fics and art, and then we also got a podfic, a reclist, a gifset and a playlist!
Just as June tends to be busier, we tend to get a wider variety of ships this month as well, which I for one think is an excellent thing. There's the usual suspects at the top of the list (merthur at 29 and gen at 17), the rarer-but-still-reasonably-common-for-bingo pairs (Gwen/Lancelot, Merlin/Gwaine, and Merlin/Lancelot all at three, then Arthur/Gwen and Merlin/Morgana both at two), and then 13 different ships with just the one fill, which you'll find with other the other fills below the cut!
As always, fills are sorted by ship and then by rating, and we encourage you to check out the warnings and practice self-care before clicking on anything that might not work for you. Now, go give these lovely people some love!

Meliodas Never “Betrays” the Demons Au
Since I saw @sullina answer this anon post on a Monday some months ago, I’ve been working on this. I thought this was so interesting that ideas just started springing into my head. Here’s the post for context.  https://www.tumblr.com/sullina/712945738391437313/au-where-meliodas-never-betrayed-the-demon-race?source=share
What if everything else changed to reflect this premise? It could be like a spin-off of the Seven Deadly Sins with a bit of psychological horror. That could be genuinely gritty and thrilling. And... I'd watch it.
My dialogue-loving imagination is perfect for making this, I have decided.
Forgive me for what I’ve done to this show omg. Or demand more details. Or both.
A classic adventure saga begins!
The story would still have some cheery flashbacks/mention of Liz from time to time - more of them than in canon I'd say - but as usual, we wouldn't see Meliodas's own thoughts. After a while, the series's premise seems to be: two people with an unforeseen connection and growing love for each other go on a journey to reunite old friends to save the kingdom from a horrifying fate. Fun!
There's a bit more . . . blood than the viewer originally thought there would be when characters get injured. (realistic blood loss anyone?) And the monsters they encounter are steadily getting creepier the further they get into the wilderness, slowly proving to the viewer that humans are not the dominant species in their own kingdoms, only the most numerous. Over time it becomes clear that humans have been stuck in a “medieval” age of sorts for this long because this beautiful fantasy world is such a dangerous place. Occasionally, the Sins will swerve their course to avoid this specific city that exists simultaneously in six places at once, and where humans are . . . not welcome. The question of who exactly lives there is brought up several times and everyone looks at Meliodas as if to say buddy give us the tea. He only chuckles and says it’s not fairies or giants or beastmen when pressed. The druids live somewhere weird too. and give us some fun and wacky architecture for villages while we’re at it. There are rumors circulating that some kind of life has returned to the ruins of Danafor, with adventurers swearing that there was nothing there while others swear that there is, and the villagers the sins encounter are more creeped out by that than rumors of the actual evil going on.
Meliodas, despite his poker face and guarded personality, would make it very clear to Elizabeth how much he respects and cares for her, even more so than in the original manga. She reciprocates his feelings and they quickly become as inseparable as if they’d been together for years.
The rest of the Sins' romances/backstories might have twists as well. (Except for Merlin, who would be genuinely appreciative of the sins being together and being found family, because she's already too weird in the original). The truths of that would gradually unravel, but they'd work through it in as much of a healthy and mature manner as they're capable of, with the support of their friends. Everything is going pretty well for the Sins as people, despite the world going to trash fast with the efforts of whatever villains there are. The story pivots from Elizabeth's POV routinely to show other characters' struggles and the growing darkness of the evil they set out to vanquish.
The Sins bond, address a bit of their pasts, (even Meliodas feels safe to open up a bit!), and Elizabeth is learns to kick ass with Meliodas's help. A really wholesome show despite whatever new horror elements are added.
Enough with the premise though, let’s get to some actual scenes!
Enjoy!

CAMELOT REVIVAL THOUGHTS
Gonna try to be nice because, as an avid Camelot 1967 enjoyer, I know what it's like for everyone to hate on an adaptation you're obsessed with :(
THINGS I LIKED:
The cast are so crazy good. No one needs to hear me talk about how much I love Jordon any more than I already have, Phillipa and Andrew also rocked.
The American accents weren't as noticeable in the show as they were on the cast recording, especially Andrew's. I liked him a lot more on stage in particular.
I loved Merlin's death scene, goodbye you old man. Handled better than other adaptations.
Lancelot's outfits. Lancelot's scenes. Lancelot's songs. LANCELOT.
THE STAGING OF FIE ON GOODNESS IS CRAZYYYYYY. THE BED BEING PUSHED ON AND OFF THE STAGE. AAAAAAAAAAAA
Also it's surprisingly funny? A lot of the jokes worked for me.
THINGS I DID NOT LIKE:
Sorry but barely any lines rewritten for this show were better than the original. The original dialogue just goes so hard, this is significantly weaker.
The impact of the love triangle was nuked. Arthur and Genny having a fake marriage, Genny not being in love with Lance, every line that validated extramarital affairs; these all ruined the impact and devastation of Genny and Lance's betrayal. FUNDAMENTAL MISUNDERSTAND OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL.
Aaron Sorkin does not understand Guenevere even a little bit. He keeps jumping from making her all no-nonsense serious-business in her new dialogue to light-hearted and carefree when she needs to sing a song. Genny was already fleshed-out complex character in the original; torn between her duty, loyalty, and LOVE for Arthur and her simultaneous love and desire for Lancelot. This is just another old man trying to girlbossify a woman who didn't need girlbossification.
The removal of magic isn't bad inherently. The way it's handled however is genuinely insulting to fans of the source material. I feel like they're constantly saying "How STUPID would it be if magic existed. Only an IDIOT would expect something magical to happen here." Like, you can get rid of magic without being condescending about it and alienating your target audience.
WHO decided to remove Lance and Genny from 'Guenevere'?????? That song goes SO hard and you're not gonna show Guenevere at the stake or Lance rescuing her????? WHAT THE HELL
I think my biggest complaint is that when Camelot fell, I just didn't care. Like I didn't feel anything. Maybe I'd feel differently if I actually saw it live, but when Camelot falls in the movie it genuinely hurts my heart and I didn't get that here at all.
Sorry the hater section is so much longer than the lover section but I love the original so much so I just had more to say about it

4, 10, 21 for the end of year asks? 💛
Thanks for the ask, Al!!
4) What piece of media inspired you the most?
Honestly this is a very difficult question, what with the sheer amount of different types of stories I've been writing. There are of course some obvious sources of inspiration, like spy movies (especially the Dalton Bond Movies) for Back By Midnight and Merlin for the Founders' Era, but If I had to pick something that inspired me the most it would likely be the new Legend of Zelda game. There's a lot of fantastic concepts in the game that have influenced my own ideas, such as villains who look down upon mortals, the ancient past having an impact upon the present, as well as relaxing the rules of the world to allow for more wild and bizarre forms of magic.
10) What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
Out of everything I wrote this year, I think I enjoyed writing Back By Midnight the most. It was such a fun work, especially as it slowly grew into a completely original work complete with new names and designs for many of the characters within, e.g., Merula Snyde becoming Meredith Sharrow, Patricia Rakepick becoming Pamela Warwick, etc. Apart from that, writing an action-packed spy story is a lot of fun!!
21) Share your favorite piece of dialogue.
This is a tricky one, but I think it'd have to be...
“Silence!” Betwixt roared, before stopping, sighing, and allowing himself to chuckle. “You are a mortal, a peasant, and woefully ignorant of magic. Those three things make me better than you. I wouldn’t talk about permission to own metal when last night you had to have permission for, oo, lots of things, wasn’t it? Like food, and free time, and being able to re-”
Before Betwixt could finish Lachlann had kicked them in the stomach with his wet shoe.

OK, REAL TALK FOR A MOMENT. YOU KNOW WHAT GIVES ME NOSTALGIA, SEROTONIN, AND DOPAMINE LIKE NOTHING ELSE?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE FREAKIN SPONGEBOB PC GAMES.
I've only played Employee of the Month when I was 7-12 on my family's old desktop and I LOVED IT. I still have the game, but my laptop doesn't have a CD port AND newer versions of pcs aren't compatible with old games like this (F*** planned obsolescence) Modern Spongebob has tried to make more 3D content, but neither Sponge on the Run nor Kamp Koral compare to the genius behind these games.
Starting off with the OG, Operation Krabby Patty: Truth be told, I don't know much about it. According to the reference EotM made, this was the first game. I'm not that impressed by the actual gameplay since it's mostly a series of mini-games rather than a point-and-click adventure like the rest of them. But what I really liked were the cutscenes because of how creative and funny they were. Some of the jokes in here are funnier than entire episodes of modern Spongebob. The 3D animation in these cutscenes also wasn't so detailed that it came off as super unnerving. It actually looked like Spongebob but with more depth. And the best part of this was that the rest of the games would go on to use it's KILLER SOUNDTRACK. Seriously, I could vibe to the nostalgia of this music for hours.
Employee of the Month is the only game I actually played and it was awesome. The plot took you everywhere, you got to see all the different parts of Bikini Bottom including those you've never seen in the show, and it was overall an amazing adventure. You went from Downtown Bikini Bottom to Rock Bottom to Conch Street and Jellyfish fields to some kind of Beverley Hills spinoff near the Kelp Forest. And it would get crazy. Spongebob met with a Merlin wizard cameo named Marlin (a fish like a swordfish) who controlled the weather. He met an anchovy with 4,132 twin brothers that basically trolled him the entire adventure. He met a hippie who gave him glasses that sent him into Squidward's dream and turned him into the shape of squidward. YOU CAN'T GET THIS ANYWHERE ELSE. And the gameplay itself rocked. I loved going on these little missions to collect miscellaneous objects from different sources and interactions with various characters to move the adventure along. One thing I would do would be to point and click on every possible thing on the screen because there were so many details that Spongebob would comment on (Something these point-n-clicks have in common). And there would also be a bunch of easter eggs like these video tapes showing the animating process. It was AMAZING.
I haven't actually played Movie or Light, Camera, Pants, but from the walkthroughs I've seen, they're both at least as awesome as EotM.
Movie felt like someone put you into the events of the Spongebob Movie while also giving you behind the scenes looks at parts of the story that haven't been shown in the theaters. Arguably, I'm actually more inclined to watch the walkthrough again than the actual movie because it has way more content. You could play as Mindy sneaking out of the castle to help Spongebob and Patrick, Spongebob went into a cave and saw his entire future life play for him, Spongebob had to infiltrate the headquarters of invertebrate terrorists to settle a dispute between them and the local chiropractor, THERE WAS A MYSTERY IN A HOTEL WHILE THEY WERE DOWN THE TRENCH THAT THEY JUST BRUSHED OVER WHILE THEY WERE SINGING "Now that we're men"! YOU CANNOT TELL ME HE DIDN'T EARN THAT MANAGER POSITION AFTER ALL THAT! And the parts of the movie that was on screen was followed to a tee! It followed the dialogue exactly, MOST ADAPTATIONS DON'T BOTHER TO PULL THIS OFF, BUT THIS PC GAME DID.
And finally, Lights Camera Pants. This one was incredible and could have it's own movie because of how good it was. Spongebob is trying to get as many people and props together to upgrade the new Mermaidman and Barnacleboy movie. Not everyone is like me to try to look at all of the content in these games, but this one made it an INTEGRAL PART to try to talk to as many of the characters as possible because literally every NPC had a part to play in this movie. And that didn't stop the plot from going nuts because he went ALL OVER THE PLACE IN BOTH SPACE AND TIME. YES, TIME. THERE WAS TIME TRAVEL INVOLVED AND YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO HE MET. (Hint: It's from my favorite Spongebob episode of all time. It was a pre-movie special starring a certain trio. Sorry, if you still can't get it, you have to see it yourself because I'm not spoiling :P)
Bro, these games were the peak of the franchise and I will die on this hill. Some of the video games probably deserve their own post, but this will always have a place in my heart and childhood as peak Spongebob...

Long Live
Fandom: Merlin Summary: Merlin is going to take the kingdom back for the people he loves, one way or another. Warnings: Mentions of death and torture Word Count: 4,960 Ship(s): Merlin/Arthur Pendragon/Gwen
Archive link!
A/N: I wanted to keep this fic really open ended so just keep in mind that it'll feel like the fic ends in the middle, but that was on purpose. I'm also not sure that the dialogue sounds that congruent with the source material, but I'm trying my best. I hope that y'all like this fic and thank you so much for giving it a chance. Stay sissy and bitchy everyone <3
“Arthur,” Merlin called.
He could feel his magic tickling the edges of his fingertips as it radiated off the walls of the cave that they were staying in. The buzzing feeling had made him twitchy and uncomfortable like he had before he got used to the magical pull he had towards Arthur. This time, however, there was another layer of magic. Like the tides of power were trying to tell him something. He could feel it like a stone sinking in his gut, dragging him down towards something he couldn't quite place.
The aforementioned prince turned so that he was facing his love. Gwen was standing next to him while trying to get the remnants of his armor to fit over the more important parts of his body instead of where it wanted to lay. "Merlin?" Arthur asked, raising a brow. "Is everything alright? You don't look well."
"I have something I need to tell you," he replied. The words were sticky like honey in his throat as he tried to speak. Both of the people he cared for most in the world were standing in front of him, and if he didn't get to go through with his plan then they wouldn't be. Everyone that he loved would be hunted down and killed after that, so he couldn't allow that to happen on two different fronts. He cleared his throat before he continued, "Both of you."
Gwen's fingers nervously hovered on the edge of Arthur's armor. "Merlin, what's going on? You're scaring me," she glanced towards her blond partner and then back to the other.
"I have something very serious that I need to tell you, and you may never forgive me for it," he took a deep breath. His hand twitched at his side as the magic continued to lick at his palm. "But I promise, even though I hid this I didn't mean to do any harm to anyone. I only did this to protect myself and those I loved."
Arthur sighed. He pulled away from Gwen so that he could reach out and take Merlin's hand. "Merlin, you're sounding like you did when you came out to me. You do know that you don't have to do that again, right?"
The warlock yanked his hand away from his partner before anything happened. He felt more volatile than he had in years and he had no idea whether or not he would be able to control his abilities. "Arthur."
"Merlin," the other replied, his perfectly shaped brows knitting together as he looked over his partner. Merlin never shied away from physical contact, even when they were in front of people that didn't know about their relationship, so the fact that he did that now meant something was terrifyingly wrong. "What are you trying to say to us, then?"
"I have magic," he finally blurted. "I have since I was born. The only time I've ever learned spells was to try and do things that would help you or the kingdom. I never tried to learn magic to spite you or hurt anyone. I knew how to do magic before I could speak and walk. It comes as naturally to me as breathing." His heart was beating up in his throat as he spoke, making the words come out as garbled mess instead of with the eloquence that he had been hoping they would. He glanced between the two to try and see what their reactions were going to be.
Gwen grasped the sides of her arms as she shrank into herself a little bit. She brought one of her hands up to her mouth to press her fingers against her lips like she always did when she was distressed. She turned to the side and then glanced over her shoulder at the warlock, "Oh, Merlin."
Instead of getting angry like he had anticipated, Arthur just loudly burst out laughing. He placed one of his armored hands on his gut as he almost bent over from the force of his laughs. "Oh, Merlin," he said, though his comment had a lot more joy to it than Gwen's had. "I can always count on you for a bit of levity when I need it."
"Arthur, I'm serious," Merlin shook his head. "I have magic. A lot of magic."
"Merlin," he rolled his eyes, doing the thing where he split his boyfriend's name in half. It made the warlock's anxiety slip away for just a moment and a smile began to tug at the edges of his lips. He desperately wanted everything to be okay like it had been a week ago, back when they were in the castle and arguing about small things like meetings and hunts. He didn't want to be here, spilling his secrets to his partners where he was at risk for them to completely reject him. "Stop messing around. We have something very important to be getting ready for. As much as I love you and want to put this off as well, we can't."
"Arthur," Gwen murmured. She moved so that she was touching the edge of his arm to try and pull him back towards her. That motion, trying to draw Arthur away from Merlin the way that she did when he was getting in a fight, made the warlock realize just how badly he had scared her. He knew that this was something that could happen, since so many bad things had happened to Gwen due to magic. She had known him since he first came to Camelot, so she was the one that was going to feel the most betrayed out of everyone he had been keeping this secret from.
The warlock glanced back to the woman he had fallen so deeply in love with. He tore his gaze away from her back towards the prince he was made to serve and protect. He tugged some of the extra magic up from the cave that they were hiding out in so that he didn't have to use any of his own. Once it was swirling in his hand, he manipulated it into a physical ball that dropped down into his palm. "See? I have magic."
The reaction that he had anticipated was finally coming from his boyfriend. Arthur's beautiful blue eyes turned a steely gray and his jaw set forcefully. His armored hand clenched at his side. His eyes stuck on the ball for a moment before they turned to Merlin, full of rage and anguish. "You lied to me. You deceived me."
"Arthur, I did it for your own good," he tried to insist. A million different stories of how his magic had saved the blond were on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't bring himself to say any of them. If Arthur had already decided that magic was something repulsive and terrifying, then there was nothing that he could do to make him think otherwise. The warlock did have to admit that if someone had done this to him, no amount of reason would be able to convince him that they were actually on his side.
"For my own good?" he scoffed and stepped back from the man that he had once, and maybe still, loved. "How could you say that? How could you think that I would want to hear that after learning that you're the same type of monster that killed my mother and has tried to kill me and those I love for ages."
Gwen gasped. She placed a hand over her mouth and reached out towards her boyfriend so that she was holding his arm. "Arthur, that's a bit harsh, isn't it? I know that he- he lied to us both and that he has magic, but he's still Merlin."
The once and future king shook his head, "We don't know that. Sorcerers have the ability to change their appearances. We don't know that he's actually Merlin. This could have been his whole plot all along." He turned back to his best friend, "How do you expect us to trust you now that we know who you really are?"
His jaw set and his heart steeled in his chest. He knew what he had to do, and he had to ignore the overwhelming amount of love that he had for the duo to do so. He grasped at the magic that had been pulling at him since they had entered the cave. He moved his arm up and then threw the magic forward so that it created a sticky wall in front of his lovers. The magic touched every crevice of the entrance to the cave, swirling and shimmering around itself to keep the wall active. "I don't expect you to trust me, which is why I've just locked you into the cave. I'm going to go handle Morgana, and the two of you are going to stay safely in here where she can't get to you. The spell will be undone in about three hours."
The warlock turned on his heel and began to walk out of the cave system, ignoring the sound of Arthur and Gwen calling after him. He was stopped when he remembered the rest of the party that was in their refuge. He turned around, seeing Gwaine and Lancelot standing there. Gwaine's brow was furrowed and his hand was on the base of his sword, but it was still in the scabbard. Next to him, Lancelot had his sword drawn but wasn't making any move to advance on him or threaten him. "I know what you've done," he sighed. "I know that you had to tell them, but I don't think that you should go by yourself."
"Lancelot…"
"No, Merlin," Gwaine shook his head. "I don't know what's going on, or why Lancelot knows more than I do, but I know that you're about to do something stupid."
"I'm just walking to the front of the cave and you think that I'm about to do something stupid?" Merlin asked. He scoffed a little bit to try and make things seem as normal as possible. He had already locked away his lovers, he didn't want to do it to his two best friends either. The more people that still believed he was the person they initially thought he was, the better. He wasn't sure that he could deal with losing his entire support system after losing both of his lovers at the same time.
"You're always doing something stupid and self-sacrificing," Gwaine chuckled. "So are you going to let us come with you, or not?"
He paused for a moment. He could still feel the magic brushing at his palms, simply begging to be used. "For what I'm doing, I have to be alone."
Lancelot glanced at the other brand new knight and then back to their mutual friend. "Merlin…"
"I'm so sorry," the warlock apologized. He finally reached out and grabbed the magic that had been teasing him since they arrived. Like he had done with his lovers, he tossed it towards them so that they were locked into the cave system. "I promise that I care for you. You're my closest friends, but I have to hurt you to save you and the kingdom. You'll understand someday."
He turned on his heel and hurried out of the cave as quickly as he could. He didn't want to hear the rest of the knights finding Gwaine and Lancelot and then finding the two barriers that he had put up to keep them inside. The second barrier was going to last longer than the first, which meant that Gwen and Arthur wouldn't be able to come after him for even longer than he had originally anticipated. The only time he paused was when he heard the voice of the man he had begun to see as a father call after him, "Merlin! You can't do this!"
"I'm sorry," he called back in reply. Half of him wanted to go back and undo the spells, to explain himself to the people he loved and then go through with his plan. He knew that they would never let him go it if they knew what he was planning. Several people called his name, but he could barely hear them as he got further and further away. A couple of times he almost tripped when he felt the gravel of the tunnel around him slip under his shoes, but he was quick to catch himself with his magic. Despite the serious betrayal that he had just performed, it felt liberating and freeing to be able to use his magic like this and not worry what the others would think of him if they were to catch him.
The warlock burst out of the tunnel and into the light of the early morning. Fresh air flooded into his lungs and he soon found himself gasping like he hadn't breathed in years. He hadn't realized just how much the cave had been suffocating him until he wasn't in it anymore. There was still a tug of magic that was his link to Arthur, but he knew that he had to ignore it. He looked towards the castle and then carefully began to walk towards it. He was determined to do this and to make sure that his plan worked. He had to, for the people that he loved and the kingdom that he had vowed to protect when he had decided to stay by Arthur's side.
The closer that he got to the main city of Camelot, the more that he could feel the dark tingling of Morgana's magic. While the magic in the cave had felt like running one’s hand over silk, this magic felt like a thousand tiny pinpricks all over his skin. He used to find it comforting, like the feeling of wool on flesh in the middle of winter. Now the magic felt like stumbling into a briar thicket. It scraped against his sides and ruined the smooth waves that he normally felt from the magic of the natural world. Merlin had to take careful steps forward to make sure that he was still walking towards the castle and hadn't turned away from his mission.
He wasn't able to get too close to his home because when he got about a hundred yards away from the castle and lower town he could feel that there were massive, powerful spells placed around the entire thing. Merlin raised his hand up and then pressed it to the invisible wall. It felt purely Morgana, which made his heart ache and guilt rise in his gut. He could have done so much more for her, especially since he was just going to end up spilling his secret anyway. "I'm sorry, friend," he murmured as he sent his own magic up to the center of the spell. He was able to unlock the weakest point of the shield and then lower it down. Before he continued, he turned around and then placed a shield of his own back up.
The warlock then continued. Every ten feet he found one of the shields and then brought it down before he replaced it. He tried to make his magic mimic the feeling of Morgana's so that she wouldn't be able to tell what he was doing. He didn't necessarily want her to not know that he was coming, but he didn't want her to know for sure either.
When he got up to the walls of the castle, a couple of the guards that had switched sides when Morgana had risen to power looked him over. They glanced towards each other and then seized forward. Merlin sighed as he raised his hand up and pushed them back into the wall they had been standing in front of. It took barely any magic to do so. The thing that took more magic than he was anticipating was forcing the wall, which had also been spelled by Morgana, to form cuffs around their wrists and ankles. "Sorry, but I have business," he said. Merlin walked past them and then opened the iron gate. It was difficult to spell things that were metal like that, but Merlin was magic made flesh, so it was like jogging instead of walking.
He hurried through the gate. He then continued on his way through the middle of the lower town up towards the castle. He paid no attention to the people that were looking after him, even the half dozen that called at him. He wanted nothing more than to help everyone that he had been so rudely forced to leave. They were hurting and had been damaged by Morgana, but he had to actually get rid of her before they would really be helped.
By the time that he reached the gates of the castle, the doors had already been opened and Morgana was rushing towards him. She extended her hand out to shoot a spell at him, but Merlin was able to block it before it even touched him. "Morgana!" he shouted at her, voice echoing off the massive stone walls surrounding them. He knew what he had to do, but he wasn't sure if he was actually going to be able to do it. He hated her so much now that she had hurt all of the people that he loved and kept close to his heart. He hated her because she had betrayed both him and Arthur by refusing to listen to them and siding with Morgause instead.
"What are you doing here, Merlin?" she seethed. She spat his name like it was the foulest curse found in the Old Religion. She stopped when she was only a few yards away from him. They were close enough that they could talk to each other but not so close that they could reach out and touch each other. "Don't you have to run around in the woods with your prince?"
"He and I have had an argument. I'd rather work with you now," he said. It wasn't a lie, but at the same time she had been closest to him and Arthur before she left so she was well aware of their frequent spats. It was going to be hard to get her to believe what he had to get her to believe.
She laughed. It was more like a cackle than the snorting, belly-holding laugh that he remembered from the nights that he had spent with her, Arthur, and Gwen back before everything had happened. "You really expect me to believe that you somehow got in such a huge fight with Arthur that you're completely switching alliances? You're the most loyal person I know. To him at least. You just poison the rest of your friends," she growled in the last sentence.
"I did that because I was trying to protect Arthur. I was under the advice of the Great Dragon to do so, but I see now that I was led astray by two beings I wrongly trusted," Merlin answered. He felt deeply uncomfortable at the insinuation that picking his lover over Morgana had been the wrong decision.
"The Great Dragon?" she asked. It took a moment, but then she let out another long cackle. "Merlin, you are a servant. A plain, stupid, bumbling servant. I never even heard the Great Dragon speak when he was captured by my father underneath Camelot. How do you expect me to believe that you of all people were able to hear and speak with him? You're not a Dragonlord."
"I am. I am the last Dragonlord. Balinor, the previous Dragonlord, was my father. I am magic made flesh Morgana, and now I am here to help you," he explained.
She made an unbelieving hum. "You were always a humorous one. I suppose that it would be nice to have a bit of levity down in my dungeons," she motioned for the guards that she had brought with her to move forward and take him.
Merlin reached his hand up and then used a miniscule amount of his magic to turn the cobblestones under their feet into sand. With every step that the guards took, they sunk down further and further into the road until they were stuck with hardened rock up to their knees. "Morgana, I am magic made flesh. You can either believe me and let me help you unite Albion as one kingdom or I can trap you and kill Uther myself."
"You will do no such thing," she seethed. Her eyes flared and flashed gold for a moment, before she calmed herself. Morgause had apparently gotten a lot better at speaking with Morgana through a mental connection without broadcasting it as widely, since Merlin could hear her voice like a faint whisper three rooms away instead of clear as day as he had been before. He waited until the two sisters had finished their conversation, desperately hoping that the priestess was encouraging her sister to take his deal instead of entering into a fight Morgana had no hope of winning. The seer cleared her throat as she resumed the majestic, royal posture that painted her as the noblewoman and queen that she longed to be. "Fine. Merlin, come with me," she said. She turned and then began to gracefully walk towards the castle.
Merlin rolled his shoulders and then raised his hand to send the reversal spell towards her knights. "That was the right decision."
They walked through the courtyard of the town. As soon as they reached the doorway to the main castle the two guards pulled away from her and went to stand at their posts. The two magic users continued through the castle until they reached the receiving room. Morgana walked carefully up the steps and then sat down on the throne that should have belonged to Arthur. "Morgause?" she called.
The door behind the throne opened and the aforementioned blond walked out. She stood beside her sister, looking over the warlock like he was a prized steer they were thinking about purchasing. He folded his arms behind him in the familiar pose that he always took when he was standing in front of royalty. He was used to doing it when he was getting the schedule or listening to the things that Arthur was going to need.
"So," Morgause said. She placed her hands on the edge of the chair that her sister was sitting on and looked over him. "You have chosen to help us, have you?"
"Yes," Merlin nodded.
She carefully maneuvered herself so that she was walking towards the man instead of standing beside Morgana. "My sister has informed me that I am going to be the one to direct you where we need to go. Though I do feel the need to see the kind of magic that you can do. It's not everyday that we meet someone that can cast spells with no words," she smirked.
"I have more magic than anyone I have ever encountered before," his heart was beating up in his throat again. He had this plan rattling around in his mind since Morgana had taken over the castle, but now that he was actually in the middle of it he wasn't sure that he was going to be able to go through with it. Not when it might take everything from him yet may not even work.
"Let me feel," she said as she extended one of her hands out in front of herself. Merlin felt his hands twitch down at his side as he cast the spell that he needed to. This was something that he had counted on when he was creating his plan back while they were running from the sisters. He brought his hand up and then placed his wrist in her grasp. She wrapped her fingers around his arm before she pulled away and revealed that she had placed the enchanted bracelet she gave Morgana during their first encounter. "There. Now you're not going to be able to use all that magic on us," she referred to his abilities with the scorn of a teacher that knew their pupil was lying.
The warlock made a big show of prying his arm away form her and trying to pry the bracelet off. He knew that there was no way to get it off, and the shield he had placed over himself wasn't an anti-sticking spell, but he had to make a big show of not knowing exactly what they were up to. "You have got to be joking," he scoffed. "This is really how you treat your allies?"
Morgana let out one of the little giggles she made when she was trying to entertain a nobleman she really didn't like. "You really are quite funny, Merlin. Now that we've taken your magic from you, we're going to kill you. That should draw your precious prince and his foolish knights out of hiding. Once they're gone then we'll be able to rule over the kingdom as we see fit," she smirked. She nodded at her sister when Morgause looked to the queen.
"Morgana! You won't get away with this!" he called.
Morgause took his arm and then dragged him through the halls that he had now spent years of his life. She threw him down into the courtyard that they had recently crossed through to go to the throne room. With a couple of words, she magicked a stump and a raised platform into the middle of the courtyard. She tugged him up onto it and then forced his knees to buckle with a quick hit. Merlin knew that they were going to do this, but that didn't stop him from being as scared as he was.
People were beginning to poke their heads out of their houses. They knew that Merlin had returned home, so many of them were eager to see what was going to happen since they thought this was how they were going to become free from Morgana. Soon there were crowds of people standing around him as they waited for the execution to take place. "Good people," Morgana called as she walked onto the balcony that Uther used to use when he spoke to the citizens of Camelot. "Before you, you may see a man that you considered to be your friend or someone that you cared for dearly. I also believed that he was a friend and that I could rely on him. However, during one of the many emergencies that our great city has faced, Merlin poisoned me. During my time of need, instead of helping me so that we could save all of you, he poisoned me. For this, Merlin, I sentence you to death."
There was a splattering of shocked murmurs and a few people began to sob. The warlock himself took a deep breath, his eyes closed while he tried to calm himself. As soon as he had gotten his heart rate back to normal he let his eyes flicker back open. He was going to go through with this plan, no matter what. They had already played directly into his hand. He was most closely tied to Arthur when he was standing in this courtyard because it was in the center of the kingdom itself, and it had been the place where they first met.
Morgause reached down and pressed his neck down onto the block while one of the guards moved up onto the platform. Merlin's arms were forced behind him and a rope was beginning to tie them in place. He knew that they were doing this so that he wouldn't be able to cast what little magic they expected him to have left, or push them around if he got the courage to stand. The blond drew her sword from the scabbard and brought it up into the air in preparation to cut his head off. "Do you have any last words?"
He carefully took in another breath. It had already been a few hours since he had locked his loved ones into the cave, so he knew that Arthur and the rest of the knights were most likely headed towards the city by now. He had to make sure that he got this done before they got to the edge of his wards. If he had done them even a little bit wrong, then Morgana was going to be able to feel them advancing. Merlin could feel himself begin to shake as he looked out over the crowd one more time while his mind whirled for what he was going to say. His eyes locked with the baby blue pair that he had fallen in love with as soon as he saw them for the first time.
Arthur, Gwen, and several of the knights had managed to sneak all the way into the city. He didn't know why they hadn't tried to stop what was happening yet, but he was grateful that they hadn't. Before he spoke, he reached his magic all the way down into the center focus of the kingdom's. He linked the two of them together and got the spell ready. The only thing that he needed now was to set it off. He took a deep breath and screamed at the top of his lungs so that everyone, especially Morgana, could hear him. While he was getting ready to speak properly. Morgause brought the sword up so that she could bring it down on his neck once he had finished.
"Long live King Arthur and Queen Guinevere!"

Top 5 anime for first timers
If you are considering watching anime for the first time and don’t know where to begin, this blog will give you some options to get your teeth into.
Over the past couple of years, anime has become considerably popular outside of Japan and thanks to streaming services such as Netflix, Crunchyroll and Funimation, it has also become easier for people to access and enjoy. The rise of anime is upon us and people are wondering where to get started with it all.
With the increase in popularity, we have also found that some people are hesitant to watch it, thinking it is simply for kids. But let’s get one thing straight, when it comes to anime, age is not a factor. There are many genres of anime and some are marketed at an older audience. Seinen for example is a subset that is generally targeted at a 18–30+ year old male audience. Josei is the same age group, but towards a female audience.
But if you are looking to start your anime adventure, I wouldn’t put an age to anything. Most of us here at Anime Manga UK are in our thirties and we enjoy shonen (which is intended for a slightly younger audience). In our opinion, genre labels don't matter. The only thing that does matter is that you enjoy it.
There is something for everyone if it's a nail biting thriller, a trip to a fantasyland or even a good laugh.
If you are looking for something to watch with breathtaking storylines, vibrant characters, amazing back stories, fantastic action scenes or simply something that will leave you satisfied - then get on the anime bandwagon. Below are five anime that I would recommend for first timers:
1.   Death Note
Tumblr media
So, the first one on our list is the iconic show Death Note, which is full of twists and turns and is a nice short one with only 37 episodes. It is intelligently written, smartly paced, and consistently engrossing. It follows high schooler Light Yagami who discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. With this new power, Light tries to ‘cleanse the world from evil’, and effectively plays God. But hot on his heels is a fantastic detective named ‘L’. If you are looking for something to binge over the weekend, this is the one to put on.
Watch if you enjoy shows like Dexter, Sherlock and Ash Vs Evil Dead.
Watch if you love suspense, supernatural, and psychological thrillers.
2.  Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Tumblr media
If you are looking for adventure and a taste of Shonen, then Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the perfect mix of action, character development and a little bit of the feels. Only 64 episodes, it pulls you in as you go on an adventure with brothers Edward and Alphonse as they try to find the Philosopher’s Stone to restore their bodies. However they aren’t the only ones seeking the stone. Just be aware that there are two Fullmetal Alchemist shows; the first is Fullmetal Alchemist released in 2003, the other is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, released in 2009. I would suggest watching Brotherhood as it follows the source material (manga). Sadly the 2003 version isn’t as good.
Watch if you enjoy shows like Shadow and Bone, Merlin or High Dark Materials.
Watch if you love fantasy, adventure, and action.
3.  One Punch Man
Tumblr media
Now when we first saw the title, we were instantly put off, but this parody show does not follow your usual anime stereotypes. The synopsis of the anime is simple. A superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch. It is a hilarious series which is filled with monsters doing stupid things, silly named heroes and full of dialogue that will make you laugh at every corner. If this is your first attempt at the anime genre and love superheroes, I highly recommend watching this show as it is simply brilliant and it might even draw you further into other shows like My Hero Academia or Tiger and Bunny.
Watch if you enjoy shows like The Tick, The Umbrella Academy and The Boys.
Watch if you love comedy, action, and superheroes.
4.  Fruits Basket
Tumblr media
Originally, we were put off by the romance element in this anime, but we're so glad we gave it a chance in the end! Even if you aren’t into soppy stuff, this is just beautifully written from start to finish and you will end up falling in love with all the characters. It is the perfect mixture of supernatural and fantasy with a dash of mystery, romance and drama added in for good measure. The anime follows a recently orphaned girl, who gets caught up in the drama of a strange family who are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac.
Watch if you enjoy shows like  Charmed, A Discovery of Witches and Grimm.
Watch if you love supernatural, romance, and mystery.
5. Naruto
Tumblr media
We weren't going to include Naruto as it has over 700+ episodes (if you include its second part Shippuden). But as this was one of the first shows to get us into anime, we thought it should be included. Naruto is a show that has an amazing storyline which is motivating, inspiring and entertaining. It follows the story of a young kid who wants to have recognition from her peers and to follow his dream to become Hokage (leader of the village). The show is full of amazing characters, adventure, bad-ass fight scenes and has something for everyone.
Watch if you enjoy shows like  Iron Fist, Wu Assassins and Into The Badlands.
Watch if you love martial arts, adventure, and fantasy.
Thanks,
Daydreamer & Moonflower x
