#thank you for being such a kind caring and loving hyung to your dongsaengs

i'm not jaedo shipper, I rlly love jaewoo but lately my friend showed me a lot of things (this blog too) and I was thinking about that couple. I also like your objectivity to answer, that's why I wanna ask you about what do u think about jaewoo/jaedo? Why jungwoo is so clingy with Jaehyun in front of doyoung? thank u for you answer!
Jungwoo was added to the unit late, both Doyoung and Jaehyun helped him to feel accepted, taught him things, gave him morale support and such. In "To Us" Jungwoo called Doyoung his mom.
Tumblr media
Doyoung's message to Jungwoo: "Whatever lies ahead, whether it's good or bad—if you are having a hard time, i'll be there to make sure that you have the strength to get through it~ even if i'm not physically by your side, i'll be there with you in spirit!"
Jungwoo's reply: "So I hope that hyung can achieve everything you want. I will be by your side to support you, hyung. I will be rooting for you with all my heart, I mean it."
Jungwoo needs a lot of emotional support. He was overwhelmed by performing on stage soon after debut, he talked about not being secure about his singing, he is still reluctant to make his own covers. Well, as a JaeWoo shipper you should know better than me how he is.
All neos play idol roles. Some keep closer to their real self (Taeil), others are either make it look like they are always in a great mood (Johnny) or make a fake personality (Doyoung recently). Jungwoo thinks that fans like him for being cute and funny, so he tries to be like that on camera. Shipping is popular, it sells easily, annoying others results in good entertainment as well. Jaehyun is easy to annoy (and he won't start to flirt back), and all ships with him are popular.
Jungwoo used to annoy Doyoung as well, but he maybe crossed a line or Doyoung had enough, now Jungwoo joins others (like Hyuk), but doesn't initiate it himself as often as in the past.
Jaehyun is a push over, so he is still being pocked on camera (as he finally put an end to the practice bts, it seems).
To sum it up. Jungwoo is Do's dongsaeng he wants to take care of. Jaehyun is a kind man himself and he supports Do's cases. Jungwoo prefers shipping as a go-to entertainment tactic. It's bulletproof and he can get back at Jae. Doyoung knows that Woo just pretends with flirting, so he is not jealous. Doyoung also can control Jungwoo as Jungwoo needs his guidance and emotional support. JaeWoo as a ship also helps to hide DoJae.
Re-watch DJJ's photo studio. How Jaehyun could be all over Doyoung just because Jungwoo was the third member. Jungwoo was taking pictures of Doyoung with a film camera, but Jaehyun intervened, so Jungwoo took pictures of Jae taking pictures of Doyoung. And Doyoung later posted those pics on his IG.
JaeWoo is a better ship for work than JohnDo or TaeDo. Johnny and Taeyong want Doyoung to themselves. Woo has little interest in Jaehyun, his close friend is Mark, he also has Sungchan and others. Therefore Jungwoo is ready to help. Even if he gets annoyed with third-wheeling or Do's kisses on the head (DoWoo) sometimes, he is returning a favour.

Hi dear! I really like your blog and i have been following it since a few months now.
I always wonder about jimin's loud show of affection to jk during their early years 2013-2014. and how much he said openly that he wanted to go on date with him and all that.
I can never fully understand what was going through jimins mind at that time. lol. with jk we see a clear change and progression of his feelings over the years but i am always confused about jimin.
like was he already crushing hard on jk at that time (2013-2014) or was just fooling around and messing with him like a hyung would.
did he also stared to develop some feelings during 2015-2016 or was it much before when he kept showering jk with sooo much love.
Anyways would love to hear your thoughts on the early years dynamics between km.
Hello anon! Thank you so much for the kind words. The blog is only a few months old 👀😂 so I'll assume you've been here close to when I first started, which is always nice. 💜
I'm going to very briefly say that I will get more into this when I finally get around to doing my jikook dynamics over the years series. But we can talk about my personal opinions over Jimin these years super briefly for now!
I'm also going to super quick disagree about seeing a clear change in Jungkook's feelings towards Jimin. I think we can see a clear change in how he HANDLED himself and acknowledgment of how he felt, but... the endearment and love he has for Jimin has 100% always been there. For example, Jungkook in 2013 looking at Jimin so sweet:
Tumblr media
And in 2014... he has always felt safe and comfortable with Jimin and I'm pretty sure he has always been quite endeared by him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But this is about Jimin! Let talk about Jimin. He has always been, from the very start, very vocal about his affections for Jungkook and how much he loves him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now here is my thing, no I do not think this was love at first sight for Jimin. There are things we have to keep in a mind a bit here too. Jimin was the very last member to join. Everyone else had 2 years to form bonds and friendships, getting super close without any cameras. Jimin had about 7ish months to do that before the cameras started getting pushed on them for things, on top of having an extremely hard training regimen and being pushed to the extreme to get ready for debut with less time than anyone else. As well as the fact that he knew none of them, was all of a sudden living with them, getting thrown into a new school, trying to figure out and learn the groups dynamics AND was being threatened with getting kicked out of the group like once a month if he didn't work hard enough.
Keeping that in mind, we know that all the other members had time to figure each other and the group out, settle into their friendships before having to worry about how they looked on camera. Jimin had to do a lot of that ON camera.
We also know that Jimin wants to and enjoys taking care of people. Jungkook was his only dongsaeng, automatically earning him a soft spot in Jimin's heart. Even all his hyungs in the group will talk about how sometimes Jimin feels more like the hyung and someone they can go to for advice at times. So I think predebut times and 2013 was more Jimin just wanting to break JKs walls down with him more. He was teasing and touching and getting close. He loved him and he wanted to take care of him as a hyung. He thought he was super cute and wanted to be part of making him feel safe and comfy in the group. And I think it worked. And i think during all those efforts of making them closer, getting to know him, pushing boundaries, protecting him and poking fun.... Jimin somehow found himself in a bit over his head and liking Jungkookie a little too much. Lol
Tumblr media
I think all the "I want to go on dates with Jungkook" in 2014 were his way of testing those boundaries, what he can get away with and also trying to put feelers out for Jungkooks own feelings. I also think he just really enjoyed the time that they spent together and wanting to spend more of it together, outside of work. It doesn't always have to have romantic inclinations. Heck, in 2018 Hobi said all the members go out on dates with each other, in an interview. Lol and he didn't mean they were all boyfriends (OT7 poly shippers loved that day I bet lol) but that they all had "friend dates" which very much so is a thing. Did jimin mean it that way, we don't know. Maybe he left it purposefully ambiguous, not just for us, but for JK as well. Putting that ball in his court and seeing where it went.
I think 2014 was a year for both of them really discovering "hey, maybe this isn't just a wow, I love my best friend" type of feelings, but maybe this is a crush. And I think tjey spent that year both trying to figure out their own feelings and testing each other for the others feelings.
Tumblr media
And I think 2015 was them admitting their feelings to themselves finally and truly starting to flirt with intention. Lol anyone else notice that Jimin stopped asking Jungkook for kisses after 2015? Think it might be because he finally started to get them without asking? Also he never asked the other members for kisses or if they wanted kisses like that. Lol I think Jimin took great joy out of being able to fluster Jungkook. Not that JK also didn't enjoy getting him back sometimes 👀😂
Tumblr media
Did that make any sense?? Lol I hope it did. Anyways, those are just MY PERSONAL opinions. I'm not claiming they are correct and I'm not saying that's how anyone else should view it. Just how I personally do. I promise I'll get to my jikook dynamics posts soon! I'm sorry for taking so long!

still same anon. this was another one of my asks from months ago. basically it was a comment I made about jikook's intimacy. it was from this interview: https://youtu.be/T--BOS8oTec the moment I'm talking about happens from 3:00 minute timestamp onwards. i was saying how despite this moment being "skinship" or whatever, it kinda hit different? there's also intimacy there. bc you see how jimin doesn't have to say anything and jungkook immediately understands what to do and starts massaging his neck. jimin literally threw a glance at him, tilted his neck a lil and jungkook didn't need a second more to know what to do. I wanted to talk to you about it since I know that you're not big on skinship defining jikook's relationship, but I think there ARE jikook skinship moments worth noting and this is one of them imo.
Oh ok. Thanks.
SKINSHIP IN CONTEXT
I think skinship by it's very definition is an intimate act depending on the level of familiarity between the parties involved in the act.
From my understanding of skinship, it's basically interactions that would otherwise be viewed as sexual outside of their culture but viewed as acceptable platonic behavior between the same sex or even the opposite sex.
The objective of skinship is to be intimate with another person on a level that's only next to romance.
I remember my sister telling me how shook she was when she found out for the first time, around 2011 when she first moved to Seoul, how she couldn't even keep her pants on at a 'Jimjirban' because all the gals in there were expected to walk around butt naked in the spa. No towels, no pants, no robes butt nakedttt.
'Mehn, this doesn't happen where I'm coming from' she said to her companion.
A. I'm black.
B. I'm not flat.
C. I'm wearing my pants.
Her very naked friend, a native SK, whom she says she'd only met for like a week, then grabbed her underwear and pulled it down her thighs exposing her deforested vagina to the winds and a dozen other curious gazes. All females.
'For a second, I thought I had been tricked into an orgy of a sort. I was very naked without my consent. Wind whistling through my shy butt cracks. Watching very naked females of varying ages stare on with pride and smiles on their faces as if I had just saved a village or something and when I jiggled when I walked I could hear them gasp, amazed- Goldy, how is this not gay?'
'You think skinship between their men is weird, wait till you see their women. Wait till a very attractive Korean girl is breathing down your neck and caressing your nape and complementing your skin while showing you pictures of her boyfriend on her phone.'
She says it took her a while to get used to the skinship between women in SK and seeing the men interact in a certain way messed with her brains for a while. She said she felt her intelligence was being played with most of the time.
I guess if you want to look at Jikook's skinship as intimate then there's nothing wrong it.
Skinship is intimate at the very least.
But skinship, for all intent and purposes, is platonic and nonsexual in nature. And maybe this is a fatal flaw on my part. Or maybe thanks to my sister, I'm desensitized to this form of interaction but I have a hard time seeing Jikook's intimacy as platonic or even seeing most of their skinship as romantic- in anyway. It will make sense in a bit, hold on.
I have a hard time equating skinship with romantic intimacy. But that's just me.
Tumblr media
I wasn't able to click on the link you sent but I'm guessing this is the moment you are talking about?
I wouldn't call this skinship. I mean it is but I wouldn't call it that. Skinship is meant to show how close two people are. How familiar they are with eachother.
This doesn't show how close Jikook are. But It shows how caring and affectionate JK is as human being, as a dongsaeng, and as a boyfriend.
I'd rather we celebrate that. JK doesn't get highlighted enough. He caters to the people he cares about. He is an attentive person.
Hate to be a grinch but I can pull up a couple of times JK has done that very gesture with Jin or Tae or Hobi. Remember Soop? Remember when Jin complained of feeling cold and JK went up to him immediately and 'warmed' him up?
Tumblr media
Of course, Jimin kept stealing glances at him like he could throw a shoe at the back of his head if he could but that's beside the point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The man is an empath. He's said several times he feels a lot of pain watching his hyungs go through it. Fact is, Jk cares about people. He's kind, loving and he shows this aspect of him through gestures like these.
He does it for Jimin. He does it for all the members because as he's said, they are all a family.
It's stressful hearing people claim he doesn't give a fuck about Jimin, that he doesn't care about JM because he shows affections for others besides JM.
At some point we would have to make a distinction between what acts flows from their unique personalities because of who they are at their core and what act flows from them being a couple.
Most people who see Jimin as a natural nurturer and what not are able to separate this identity from his ship moments but JK isn't accorded the same privilege. It is why most people are quick to lash out at him when he interacts with others in the same way he interacts with Jimin.
When JM acts nurturing towards V or RM or Suga he is seen a good, kind person.
When JK does something affectionate it's seen as a beautiful Jikook moment or Taekook moment or Jinkook moment and is soon swept under the carpet, soon forgotten and never tied to the personality of JK- perhaps because most of these shippers don't care to know who JK is as a person and as a human.
When Jimin does something affectionate its 'awww Jimin is such an amazing person' even if that act is merely performative sometimes.
I try not to engage in conversations that perpetuate this horrifying discrimination against either of Jikook. They are both individuals.
There are a lot of Asks sitting in my box highlighting the various ways JM is awesome and kind and amazing as s boyfriend to JK and not a single out of 500 plus posts talking about how empathetic JK really is. How thoughtful he is to even pack motion sickness drugs to go on trips even though he doesn't get motion illness and JM is the one that often complains about motion sickness on trips.
The heteronormative lens, on opposite ends of the spectrum in the shipping community, which dictates we perceive on Jikook as either feminine or masculine is a telltale sign of the misogyny and misandry prevalent within this fandom.
The fandom's heteronormative lens filters Jimin as the wildly feminine archetype, wildly fragile, sexy and womanly right down to the way we praise him as the 'good woman' in his relationship with JK- loyal, faithful, nurturing, kind, silent in that he continues to perform Jikook even when Jikook are not in a great place. etc.
Yet because he is seen as womanly or feminine, the part of the fandom that hates women hate Jimin. That's where all the slut shaming, bullying and harassment stems from- misogyny.
Jk is viewed as the opposite of that. By most, he is very masculine man and as such harbors all the traits of masculinity the modern woman detests- toxic masculinity, cheating, disloyal, fuckboy who treats women like shit. All forms of hatred and intolerance towards men is projected on to him especially by male intolerant people or dare I say feminist women within the fandom.
And you see them in the way they are always fighting for Jimin against JK as if Jimin were a fragile faithful woman whose man don't treat him right thus further perpetuating the heteronormative stereotypes of Jimin.
What's disconcerting is Jikook are both men and yet depending on how their masculinity or femininity is perceived, they are both treated very differently.
You hear Tuktukkers talk about how Jikook is as a result of heteronormativity and thus prescribe Taekook as the ideal homonormative ship- because to them, Tae and JK are both seen as two whole men.
To them Jimin is just not man enough to even be gay- isn't that the foundation of homophobia?
Gay men not seen as men at all?
Whereas amongst Jokers, Jimin's manliness is often forgiven and JK's is abhorred. Jk is too much of a man and men just ain't shit.
This may sound like an over simplification but Tuktukkers hate women, Jokers hate men and either side suck. In my opinion.
Tumblr media
Jimin is a nurturer he cares about people including his boyfriend. JK is an empath he feels the pain of those close to him including his boyfriend and is often moved to ease or take away some of that pain.
It's thus annoying to hear people out here yell and complain on every turn each time JK interacts with the others how JK 'doesn't act exclusive' with Jimin or how he doesn't care about Jimin.
Should he not care about anyone besides Jimin just because he is dating Jimin?
It's annoying when they say the same about Jimin. Jimin nurtures everyone ergo there's nothing special or exclusive about the way he nurtures JK.
Nonsense such as these are spewed without taking into account that those acts in themselves speak directly to who these people are as human beings first and foremost; secondly, to how they feel about the person at the recieving end of their affections.
If they are treating everyone the same it's probably because they love everyone too- in a non romantic way of course. It's their love language. They love others with the same heart they love eachother with.
It doesn't take away from how they feel about eachother. JK admiring another member does not mean when he admires Jimin it's nothing. It just mean he admires Jimin too.
Not everything has to be romanticized or given a romantic context. They are each expressing themselves and their feelings for their bandmates. It's about them not their bandmates or their relationship with said bandmates.
Certain moments are just attestation to their love language be it platonic or romantic and it says more about who they are as people than what their relationship with the other person is. It's not all about their relationship.
People need to start treating Jikook as individuals. They are humans first before a ship. Shipping them shouldn't take away from their authentic expressions of self.
That's how they each end up getting cussed out in these streets left and right.
It's ridiculous.
Tumblr media
This is JK being JK. Imma leave it at that.
This is from the same interview where Tae was talking about how they love showcasing their bond.
It's ok to celebrate it. Just see it for what it is- as flowing from JK's kind self. This is not Jikook. This is JK. Jeon Jungkook.
Don't fume or act disappointed when you see him do the same kind gesture for another member just because of the meaning you are imposing on this moment. Know what I mean?
That being said, there are certain Jikook 'skinship' moments that crosses the line of skinship right into sexual foreplay.
If 'skinship' leaves you 'sexually excited' it's not skinship. Nobody can tell me nothing.
Make of this moment what you will. Just be responsible with it. I think. But don't mind me. I'm grumpy.
Signed,
GOLDY

As long as you’re my Valentine, I don’t care
Fandom: Stray Kids
Sickie: Hyunjin
Caregiver: Jeongin
 Noone’s POV.:
Valentine’s day was approaching fast and this year it would be special to two members of Stray Kids. For Hyunjin and Jeongin it would be the first Valentine’s together as a couple. The dancer knew how much the maknae hated Valentine’s day and had promised himself to change the younger’s mind this year. To Hyunjin it would be the first time to spend this day of love in a relationship. It had only been a few days ago, that Jeongin admitted why he hated this day so much. In the past, he had found out that his ex-girlfriend cheated on him, right when he was about to pick her up for a special date. When the older learned about this, he was furious. How could somebody be so harsh on such a sweet and loving boy? He would make it right, from this year on Jeongin would only have positive memories of this day and maybe someday he could forget about the bad ones.
Jeongin was scared. He knew Hyunjin has always been treating him better than his ex-girlfriend ever did. Still, he couldn’t help but be scared. The vocalist knew how excited the older was and felt guilty, guilty that he was bringing down his boyfriend’s mood. He was glad Hyunjin’s heart was still pure and hoping to keep it that way, the maknae was determined to make Valentine’s day special for the older. Since it was the first Valentine’s the older would spend with a boyfriend, Jeongin decided to push his own hurt back and make the day memorable. He had already talked to his hyungs, who’d help him prepare. They planned a picnic in the park, where Jeongin had chosen a spot close to a few trees. Despite the branches, the sun would still reach there and hopefully warm the ground a bit. They had a thick blanket to put on the grass and Jeongin packed two additional sweaters in case the weather would be colder than expected. He made eggrolls, strawberries covered in chocolate and also took a box of pocky, knowing the older liked it. The maknae did really well preparing all those things by himself. He really only needed his hyungs to occupy his boyfriend so it would by a surprise.
Hyunjin himself had many thoughts on how he could make the day perfect for his dongsaeng but when the date got closer, the maknae had announced he’d choose where they’d go and Hyunjin better not plan anything because he already had. The dancer was a bit surprised but if it made the younger happy, he’d go anywhere with him. He was a bit irritated when on the morning of the 14th, Chan came to his room claiming he had to talk to him about upcoming choreographies that would have to be made. Hyunjin was to upset at the leader to notice the older suppressing chuckles. “Relax Hyunjin, we’ll be done soon. I want to go on a date with my boyfriend too, so we’ll finish this off quick”, the oldest lied, keeping on his act and waiting for his phone to vibrate with a text from Jeongin, that would tell him the youngest was done setting everything up. The young vocalist had already made his way to the park in the early morning, after putting on a warm yet cute outfit and some makeup. He always claimed, he wasn’t cute but when he was with his boyfriend, it was a different story. The older loved it when Jeongin dressed cutely. The blanket was spread out, the basket with food in the center, so it wouldn’t be blown away by the wind. The maknae was lucky that the temperatures rose early this year, causing flowers to bloom earlier than usual. Getting an idea, he ventured around the park and picked some wildflowers that he then tied into a small bouquet. It wasn’t the overly cliché kind, consisting of only red roses but rather held a charm of childish innocence. He had just tied the flowers together when his phone vibrated with a text from Chan.
Channie-hyungie
Are you almost done? Your Romeo over here is getting whiny and ya’know, I have somewhere to be soon too.
Maknae-on-top
Yeah, I’ll call him to meet me in a second
Sorry for holding you back from your own date and thank you so much hyungie
The youngest then opened his boyfriend’s contact and hit the call button. It didn’t even take two full rings for the older to pick up. “Innie! Channie-hyung just wouldn’t let me go!”, the dancer complained. Giggling the younger admitted: “Hyung, he needed to keep you busy for a while, so I could prepare something for you. Can you meet me at the park gates?” – “I’ll be there in a second, cutie!” – “I’ll be waiting, you better not stand me up”, Jeongin teased, walking towards the gates to meet his hyung. The call ended and not long after, he could see his boyfriend jogging towards him. ‘He really did hurry’, the maknae chuckled.
Hyunjin came to a stop right in front of Jeongin panting a bit. The younger intertwined their hands, kissing the back of his boyfriend’s hand before leading him into the park. The dancer was slowly catching his breath as they walked and swung their hands a bit, a wide smile on his face, excited to find out what his boyfriend had prepared. “Happy Valentine’s, love”, Jeongin smiled as he handed the older the flowers he had picked. They both sat down on the blanket and Hyunjin thanked the maknae for the flowers. It was true, he loved the aesthetic of wildflowers more than any type of cliché bouquet, the only problem was that Hyunjin and flowers didn’t get along well in general. He was touched by the gesture and had no heart to tell the younger, that flowers might be the worst gift he could have gotten him, so he smiled through the increasing itchiness in his eyes and at the back of his sinuses. They ate their eggrolls and talked, catching up on each other’s life because they had been quite busy with different schedules lately. When they were done, Hyunjin had already ducked away to sneeze thrice and Jeongin was getting a bit worried. He hadn’t been spending much time with his boyfriend recently and was afraid the older had gotten sick, hiding it because he didn’t want to cancel their date. The dancer repeatedly assured his that he was fine and the maknae didn’t want to ruin the mood by pressing on, so he produced a box of pocky from the picnic-basket. “You know, I always wanted to know how well we could do at this game”, he blushed, taking the pocky between his lips. With a smirk, Hyunjin leaned in, only taking slow small bites to tease the younger. They were almost kissing at this point, when suddenly the dancer’s breath hitched and he pulled away to catch two breathless sneezes against his wrist. “Bless you, really 3cm, I thought you could do better”, Jeongin teased, after taking the remaining pocky out of his mouth and examining it. Blinking away the itchy tears in his eyes, Hyunjin pouted: “I’m sorry, let me try again?” The younger giggled, grabbing a new pocky. Soon, the game turned into a make-out session, from which the older had to pull away first. His nose had gotten really stuffy and he needed to catch his breath.
They both calmed down a bit and enjoyed the early spring sun. “Innie, I’m cold”, Hyunjin whined. “Oh, I packed some extra sweaters”, the younger smiled but when he reached to grab one, he was tackled. The older smirked: “Why would I need another sweater when I can just cuddle you?” Jeongin ended up with his head in his hyung’s lap as they fed each other chocolate-covered strawberries. The maknae was finally questioning his hate for Valentine’s day and wished to spend every following one with his ‘Jinnie-hyung’. Said hyung was sniffling more frequently, trying to discreetly rub his nose against his sweater. “Hyung, are you sure you’re ok?”, Jeongin whispered, linking their fingers together. The dancer wanted to fight to insist on being fine, but the hitch in his breath kept him from saying anything. Sitting up, Jeongin took a closer look at his hyung, whose eyes had become distant, lips slightly parted before he twisted to the side with a wet sounding sneeze. He didn’t dare remove his hand from his face, when he looked back up and the younger got the hint, handing his boyfriend a tissue, so he could clean himself up. While the dancer tended to his nose, the maknae bit his lip, thinking. He noticed the redness not only around the older’s nostrils but also around his eyes, lashes dotted with irritated tears. “Sorry”, Hyunjin sniffled, shoving the damp tissue into his pocket. Jeongin frowned, giving him a questioning look: “You’re not sick, are you? It’s your allergies acting up and I managed to pick something that’s bothering you, didn’t I?” – “I-I … Sorry, Innie”, the dancer mumbled, glancing at his hands, ashamed. “Why are you apologizing?, the younger whined, “I made you suffer, I should be the one apologizing. Why didn’t you say anything?” – “You were so happy and the flowers looked so pretty”, the older sniffed.
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin walked away and took the flowers with him. When he returned, the flowers were gone. Hyunjin was close to tears, so the maknae wrapped a comforting arm around his hyung’s shoulders soothing him: “Hey, I took pictures of it, so you can look at the flowers without them setting you off. It’s ok, hyung. Sorry for not considering that.” The dancer buried his itchy face in his boyfriend’s chest, only to pull away sneezing again. “Let’s go home and shower. These clothes and the blanket will go straight in the wash”, Jeongin decided, “You’ll take an antihistamine and we can watch all those overly sappy dramas you’re always talking about.” – “Nooo, I don’t want to leave yet”, Hyunjin whined, “And the antihistamines always make me sleepy, I don’t like them.” The maknae chuckled and stood up, holding out a hand to pull the older up as well. When he had packed all their things together, he looked at his boyfriend, finding him all pouty. “Oh, come on, hyung!”, he sighed, tugging at the older’s arm. The dancer just shook his head: “No, I don’t wanna go yet.” – “Hyung, we are going home now! This is for your own wellbeing, so I’m not arguing with you. We’re leaving and that’s final!”, Jeongin said firmly. He took their things in one hand and used the other to pull his upset boyfriend along. ‘Innie’s being all domineering…hot’, Hyunjin smirked, allowing to be dragged back to the dorm. He was actually glad, the younger was leading him since his vision was blurry from the tears and his eyes kept fluttering shut with held back sneezes.
The dorm was empty since all the members had gone out on their respective dates. The maknae abandoned the basket in the kitchen, only taking the blanket to the bathroom and shoving it into the wash. Their clothes soon followed as the couple stepped into the shower together to wash all the pollen out of their hair. Jeongin was having a pretty hard time to stay focused, Hyunjin was still sneezy and the younger could see his boyfriend’s abs tense with every single sneeze. The dancer noticed but didn’t say anything, only smirking to himself. “Inniiiee? Could you wash my hair?”, he asked, blinking at the maknae with puppy eyes. Grabbing the shampoo, Jeongin laughed: “Bend down, you big baby!” Lathering the other’s long hair with shampoo, the younger massaged his scalp well, scratching it lightly. The dancer was almost purring, a satisfied look on his face, before he returned the favor.
When they were done and went back to their rooms, they exchanged hoodies and dressed in their most comfortable sweatpants. Hyunjin waited on his boyfriend’s bed. They usually cuddled there because the dancer insisted it was much more comfortable than his own. Jeongin soon joined him, carrying a small tray that he set down on the bedside table. He brought two cups of warm cocoa, the remaining pocky and some antihistamines. The older smiled at the maknae’s caring side but frowned when he was handed the medicine. “I know, hyung. They make you sleepy and you hate it but, they will make your eyes and nose less itchy and you will feel better soon”, Jeongin promised, holding up a hand to silence his hyung’s complains. Hyunjin tried the puppy eyes again, pouting: “But Inniiee, I wanted to make this Valentine’s special for you, not sleeping most of the day.” – “It already is special, because I spend it with you, hyung. If you sleep through most of the day, I don’t care. As long as you’re my Valentine, I don’t care. Plus, I don’t hate the antihistamines as much as you do because they make you even more clingy and cuddly than usual and that’s so adorable”, the younger smiled, cupping his boyfriend’s face and kissing the pout away. He sat down on the bed too and the older finally took his medicine. Drinking their cocoa and nibbling pocky, the couple reminisced the beginnings of their relationship and their first dates. By the time their cups were empty and all the pocky was gone, Hyunjin was almost passed out with his head on Jeongin’s shoulder. With a fond look, the maknae, helped the older to lay down properly, so they could cuddle for the rest of the day.

How I Met Your Mother - Park Jihoon (one shot)
---
Jihoon had been a successful MC for not only with Inkigayo, but also with some other shows. Heck he even had a chance to host the likes of MAMA and SMA, a feat that rarely happens.
And well, through hosting he was able to meet the future other half of his life.
He met Y/N when Jihoon was nominated for as best host of the year and Y/N was invited on the yearly event with her team of newscasters because one of her colleagues was nominated for Best Documentary. And fate let them sit at the same table…and beside each other.
Jihoon being an extrovert and a social butterfly that he is, he became immediately professionally close to her and to the team, sharing stories and jokes while the award show is going on.
Jihoon may not been able to win the award, but he was able to win the hearts of those people around him…especially Y/N.
The next day he and his fellow Treasure members were enjoying their day off and had a chance to watch the review of the award show that last night.
“Hyung! Look at this!” Doyoung shouted and Jihoon, Jeongwoo and Mashiho gathered in their living room and watch the show.
“Showbiz bits! Treasure member and last night’s nominee for best host Park Jihoon, is seen getting close with newscaster YFam/N Y/N. Last night’s award show has been memorable and most especially for the fans that were watching it. The number of times Mr. Park has been caught by the camera getting close with Ms. YFam/N, talking about something made a ruckus on the internet. Tweets over the two to be a potential couple has been massive and so far, the fans expect something more. Well, we’ll see about it.”
Mashiho, Doyoung and Jeongwoo looked back at their hyung and Jihoon is nervous.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Jihoon backed out a bit.
The three suddenly smiled at him in an eerie way.
“You’re interested in her.” Mashiho started.
“What the hell are you talking about, I was actually talking to the rest of the people there. Not only to her?” Jihoon defended.
“Well, if you say that, and the way she looks at you, I think she likes you, hyung.” Doyoung said.
“Stop with the nonsense Doyoungie. Why would she like me? I’m just an idol.”
“Who would not like you, hyung? Girls are falling for you. Your smile, your wits. Not to mention that great body of yours. Oh, how I wish I have that too.” Jeongwoo said.
“Shut up Jeongwoo. There you go again with your low self-esteem.”
“Why don’t you give her a chance, hyung? Even probably as friends?” Mashiho suggested.
“I’m too busy right now to give attention to women. And so are you, you and you.” Jihoon said pointing his fingers one by one to his dongsaengs.
---
The next time Jihoon and Y/N saw each other was in the building of YG itself.
“Hi Park Jihoon-ssi.” Y/N waved and greeted.
Jihoon just got out of the cafeteria together with Hyunsuk and Junghwan, finished their breaktime by eating and chatting.
“Hey! Y/N-ssi! What brings you here?” Jihoon replied.
“Well, me and my team had an interview assignment here. We are going to meet Bobby-ssi.” Y/N gladly replied.
“Oh! With Bobby-hyung…I mean Bobby-sunbaenim. I did not know you are doing a music segment. You are usually in charge of weather forecasts.” Jihoon said.
“Yeah. New assignment. My boss said that I could fit as well for the segment and decided to give it to me and give it a try. This is the first time so I don’t have an idea what shall I do.”
“I know you can do it. I believe you.” Jihoon assured.
“Thank you so much, Jihoon-ssi.”
Hyunsuk suddenly and politely interrupted, “Uhm. Are you looking for Bobby-hyung? He’s at the 5th floor right now. I had a chat with him today. He said he has an interview in a short while. I guess he means you.”
“Thank you so much Choi Hyunsuk-ssi.” Y/N was about to go when she suddenly turned back and when to Jihoon.
“If you don’t mind, can I get your number? I might need help again with something here in YG and I think you are close with the other artists here aside for your members.”
---
Jihoon was in his room looking at his phone. Displayed was Y/N’s name and number.
“Damn Jihoon! You’re so lucky!” Hyunsuk said. Slapping the other’s shoulder.
“Ouch! Why slap me like that?” Jihoon rebutted and lock at his phone (for “protection”).
“What are you doing?! The girl is into you!” The older leader reprimanded.
“What’s the big fuss? She just asked my number for important reasons and she gave hers. That’s it.” The younger replied.
“You don’t have any idea, do you.” Hyunsuk is starting to get amused, frustrated, and mad at the same time.
Now Jihoon is nervous and curious. “What?”
“Y/N is one of the beauties of newscasting. Many, as in many guys want to date her. I heard that she got a lot of date offers from a lot of guys, especially in the music industry but it seems she rejected all of those.”
“And what’s your point?” Jihoon was now skeptical.
And Hyunsuk can’t take it, he gripped his hair hard. “Don’t you see it?! She talks to you! Twice already! Not to mention she asked your number, and she gave hers. Are you dumb or dumber?”
“Hyung, out of all the members here I was expecting you to be levelheaded. You sound like Jeongwoo and Doyoung.”
And Hyunsuk had enough. “ugh! Gosh. I’m outta here. My future wife called. She said Seung and Yong are looking for me.”
---
Y/LN Y/N calling…
“Hello?” Jihoon answered the phone.
“Hi Jihoon-ssi. I hope I’m not bothering you.” Y/N spoke.
“No. Not at all.”
“Oh. Thank heavens. Uhm, I had a favor to ask.”
“What is it?”
“Can we meet somewhere. I need to talk to you about certain things.”
“What kind of “certain things”?
“Treasure-related.”
“Ok? Where then?”
And the two met at a secluded but fine coffee shop in Bukchon.
“Nice to see you again, Y/LN-ssi.” Jihoon greeted as he sits down in front of the news reporter.
“Oh please Jihoon-ssi. Just call me Y/N.”
“Ok. Then about Treasure. Why me? Hyunsuk-hyung knows the members better since he is the oldest.
“Well actually, my coworker had contacted him and he said that he cannot come because he has a schedule too and he recommended you to come.”
Jihoon is always intuitive. When Y/N said that he knows that Hyunsuk planned it. He knows the other leader had no schedule for today.
“If he wasn’t my hyung, I already jiu-jitsued him.” He thought.
“Ok then. What do you want to know, Y/N.” Jihoon asked with a smile on his face.
Their conversation went on for hours. From Treasure, the members, their fun lives, and even their own personal lives. Jihoon was amazed to know about the girl in front of her. Coming from a middle class family, she challenged herself to become who she is today. He also knew that she is a big IKON fan and the only girl and youngest in the family.
Their secret coffee shop meeting became a regular one. In those meetings they became more closer and knew more about each other. Y/N realized that when Jihoon is excited, he automatically switches to his Busan dialect without him knowing and she finds it amusing.
But one day, everything was about to change.
“Jihoon-ah! Where are you?” Hyunsuk was in a panic looking for his dongsaeng in the dorm, barging in the door without even knocking. It was early in the morning.
Doyoung, being an early rise came out of his room. “What’s wrong hyung?”
“Where’s Jihoonie?”
“In his room, hyung. He’s probably still sleeping.”
Hyunsuk did not bother and went directly to Jihoon’s room and barged in, and waking up the boy in his bed.
“Jihoon, wake up.” Hyunsuk nudged him forcefully.
The Busan boy stirred and looked. “Wha-? Hyung? What’s wrong?”
And Hyunsuk shoved his phone in front of Jihoon’s face for him to read.
Park Jihoon and Y/LN Y/N dating?
Treasure member Park Jihoon was spotted with newscaster Y/LN Y/N in a coffee shop at Samchon-dong district. According to some witnesses within the area, they have seen the two regularly for the past few months spending time with each other, casually talking, drinking coffee, and eating desserts. Their meeting is estimated to be long as two hours and then they go out. Our correspondents in Dispatch tried to ask a statement from the coffee shop owner and management but they refused and opted not to speak saying the two are their regular customers and they do not intrude to any topics the two are talking about.
The two were started to be adored by the public after an award show being looking good together.
Now the question is, are they an item now? Or are they a thing? Our team will still get the statement of both YG Entertainment and Y/LN Y/LN’s broadcasting company over the matter. Stay tuned for more information.
“I know you will say you are just friends. But if it is something more or something questionable, please talk to each other about it. I care about you and her. Not just because I am one of the leaders of Treasure and I have to defend you and our reputation, which is really easy by the way, but because I don’t want you to regret and to be happy whatever relationship you have right now.” Hyunsuk asked.
Their conversation was interrupted by a call from Jihoon’s phone.
“Y/N” Jihoon answered.
“Can we- Can we meet and talk?” Y/N asked.
“Okay. Same place?”
“Yes.”
And they found each other again on the same coffee shop. But quieter than usual.
After a few minutes of silence and only the clinging of mugs can be heard, Y/N started to talk.
“Jihoon. It has been fun talking with you but  I think this will be the last time.”
“What? Why?” Jihoon started to worry.
“I’m sure you’ve seen the tabloid. I don’t want to jeopardize your career-“
“You know well that I can stand up for whatever heck they throw at us-“
“And I don’t want to hope more that you will return my feelings for you. I’ve been liking you for some time, Jihoon. But it seems this is one-sided.” And Y/N started to stand up and get her bag. “Goodbye, Park Jihoon-ssi.”
And Jihoon sat there frozen, with his cup of coffee, and a slice of cake Y/N loves to eat.
---
Jihoon returns to their dorm that night.
“Hyung, do you want to eat, I cooked---, are you okay?” Mashiho asked.
Jihoon only gave a faint smile. “I’m okay Mashi. I’m just tired. I’ll go to sleep ahead.” And then he went off.
Mashiho only looked at him, knowing something happened.
---
Jihoon laid in his bed, sobbing. He does not understand why he is crying, but he feels the hurt that Y/N decided to stop their acquaintance. He already knew what he is to her and now he starts to ask questions; what is she to him? What are they? What do they have the whole time? These questions bombarded his head to sleep.
He woke up that morning surprised. Hyunsuk was beside his bed looking at him with concern.
“Hyung.” Jihoon said.
“Mashi called me last night. He said you came home with tears in your eyes. He was worried.” Hyunsuk said.
And Jihoon started crying again and hugged his hyung.
“I’m so stupid, hyung. I let her go. I don’t know if I was ignorant or am I just afraid of loving her and she ended everything because she thought we are going nowhere.”
“But do you love her?” Hyunsuk asked.
“This time, hyung…yes.” Jihoon was sure of his answer.
“Then it’s not yet too late.”
---
And Jihoon found himself in a bustling newsroom studio looking for Y/N. It took him some time to find her until he saw him in a green screen area of the room, looking beautiful as ever. He just stayed there on the side as the recording of that day’s news happen. As Y/N was saying her lines, she had a glimpse on the side and saw Jihoon. She continued like a professional she is, not being distracted by his presence.
After the recording, she stepped out of the newsroom and Jihoon started to follow her. She knows he came for her. So she walked faster trying to get away from him.
Jihoon noticed it and hurried up as well.
“Y/N, wait!”
HE catched up with her and held her hand to stop her.
“I know you don’t want to see me. But give me this only chance. I’m sorry. I was stupid. I was afraid. Not because of my career to be at stake, but because I did not realize I am in love with you  and when I was, I felt that I will not be enough for you. That’s it. I said what I need to say. It’s up to you now. If you’re still going away, I will let you. I will accept my stupidity. I---”
And Jihoon was interrupted by a kiss on the lips. He was surprised at first but then he gave in. He never thought how soft Y/N’s lips were. He held her tight on the waist, not giving a damn of the people who are already surrounding them inside the newsroom.
---
Jihoon and Y/N confirmed their relationship two months after the newsroom incident. (The people there kept quiet about it until it was revealed.) And two years later they tied the knot. Their wedding was simple but so beautiful and classy. Some wedding planning critics dubbed it as the wedding of the decade. And a year later their daughter, Dahee, was born.

𝓟𝓪𝓲𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰: NCT 127 x OC
𝓖𝓮𝓷𝓻𝓮: Fluff, Angst & Suggestive
𝓢𝓾𝓶𝓶𝓪𝓻𝔂: What is it like being an 18 year old girl that had just moved into her new apartment and then suddenly meeting the people she would consider to be her brothers while being away from her parents?
Tumblr media
𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓻 5: 𝓨𝓸𝓾'𝓻𝓮 18!?
Taeil Oppa and I were headed down to their unit. While riding the elevator to the 10th floor we were wrapped in silence. It wasn’t awkward as I thought it would be knowing that I broke down in front of him earlier. I felt quite comfortable until reality hit me hard and made me realize that I was actually going to enter NCT’s dorm again. So many things were going inside my head as seconds went by
‘Do I look like a mess?’
‘What if I disturb them?’
‘What if they find it annoying seeing me in their unit again?’
‘What if this was a bad idea?’
‘Why did I agree to this?’
‘Actually, why is Taeil Oppa so convincing?’.
I was slightly panicking inside my head that I didn’t notice that Taeil Oppa noticed this.
“Are you alright?” he asked me while looking at my worried face.
“Um... Yeah, just a little nervous. Hehe…” I said to him.
“Aye, no need to worry the guys are cool. You’ve met them before they aren’t that bad.
The elevator voice announced the floor and the doors opened. I was walking right beside Taeil Oppa until we reached the front of their unit. From outside, I could hear a guitar playing, people laughing and another singing Because I Love You by Yoo Jae Ha. Taeil Oppa punched in the passcode and opened the door. I was now able to distinguish who were the ones making the certain noises. Mark Oppa was the one playing the guitar, Jungwoo Oppa was the one singing and  Yuta Oppa and Jaehyun Oppa were laughing at a video they were watching on their phone.
“Yah, guys! We have a visitor.” Taeil Oppa shouted which made everyone turn their heads towards the entrance door.
“A-annyeong.” I said to them while waving my right hand.
“Oh, Yuna-yah. What are you doing with Taeil Hyung? Where did you guys go?” Jaehyun Oppa asked.
“Yuna was upstairs in the building's veranda. We had a short talk then I invited her over for some ramen because it was getting quite chilly.” Taeil Oppa said while taking off his shoes and putting on some slippers.
“Yuna-yah put your shoes inside one of the cubbies and here are your slippers.” he said to me.
I did what he told me to do and out my shoes inside of the cubbies. I wasn’t surprised that there was only one cubby left vacant. I then put on the gray indoor slippers that were quite comfortable and warm. Taeil Oppa then led me further inside their apartment and into their dining area where Mark Oppa was playing guitar. He pulled out a chair for me and told me to sit and wait while he makes ramen.
“Yah, Hyung makes some ramen for us too please. We’re hungry as well.” Jungwoo Oppa said in a very whiny voice which made me smile.
“Arraseo, arraseo, I’ll make for everyone.” Taeil Oppa said while getting ramen from their kitchen cabinets.
While waiting for Taeil Oppa to finish making the ramen I was admiring how good Mark Oppa was playing the guitar. I always wanted to play the guitar but while trying to learn through Youtube I gave up really quickly because of how it hurt to play chords. I didn’t realize that I was staring until Mark Oppa caught my attention.
“Yuna-yah, do you know how to play the guitar?” he asked me.
“A-aniyo. I tried before but gave up quickly hehe.” I told him.
“Ah, sorry is it ok if I ask you how old you are? I’ve been addressing you informally and never thought that you might actually be older than me.” he said while scratching the back of his neck.
“Ah, I’m 18 years old.” I told them.
“Eh you’re 18?!” All of the boys said at the same time.
“Nae” I said while giggling softly because of their reaction.
“And you’re living all alone?” Jaehyun Oppa asked me.
“Nae” I said again
“Wah, then you’re our dongsaeng.” Taeil Oppa said and I smiled at him.
“Ah, can I ask something?” I asked them in a very careful manner knowing that we still aren’t that close.
“Shoot it.” said Jungwoo Oppa.
“Um, would it be ok if I address you all as Oppa knowing that you’re all older than me?” I asked them again.
“Mhm, no problem with that.” Jaehyun Oppa Said while smiling.
“Aye Mark isn’t the only one who will be calling me Oppa anymore.” Yuta Oppa said which made Mark hit him playfully.
“Yah, yah move the ramen is ready.” Taeil Oppa shouted while holding the hot pot full of ramen.
He placed the pot in the middle of the dining table. I saw Mark Oppa grabbing utensils from the kitchen drawer so I decided to go and help him.
“Oppa let me help you.” I told him.
“Oh, gomawo Yuna-yah” he said while giving me the bowls.
I went back to the table and placed the bowls in front of each vacant chair. Mark Oppa followed by putting down the chopsticks and spoons beside the bowls. Yuta Oppa helped put ramen in each of the bowls.
“Ah, I’ll get the kimchi.” Jungwoo Oppa said and ran towards the refrigerator.
I saw him take out the kimchi container that I gave to them before. Their container was half full so I knew that they were eating the kimchi. Jungwoo Oppa then opened the container which covered the room with the smell of my kimchi. He even took a small sniff of my kimchi.
“Ahh Yuna-yah thanks for the kimchi. We’re really enjoying it.” Yuta Oppa said to me with a smile.
“You’re welcome Oppa. I’m glad you liked it.” I said to him back while smiling.
“Uwa, I can’t believe I’m being called an Oppa right now.” Mark Oppa said.
“Yeah I can see, your ears are turning red.” Jaehyun Oppa said which made us all laugh while Mark was trying to cover his ears.
“Yah, it’s because of the cold weather.” Mark Oppa argued while rubbing his ears to probably make his ears less red.
“Ok everyone sit down so we can start eating.” Taeil Oppa said while taking the seat right at the end of the table.
I sat on my seat again and Jaehyun Oppa sat beside me while Jungwoo Oppa sat in front of me. Mark Oppa sat beside Jungwoo Oppa and Yuta Oppa sat at the other end of the table.
“Jal Meoggessseubnida!” we all said at the same time and started to eat our ramen.
A few minutes passed and all I could hear was slurping and chewing. I saw them get kimchi and enjoy them very much.
“Wah, Yuna your kimchi is really good. How did you learn how to make it?” Mark Oppa said while getting more kimchi from the container.
“Ah, I used to help my Eomma in the kitchen a lot when I was younger so I kind of got the skills from her.” I said then took a sip of the ramen broth.
“Taeil Oppa the ramen is really good.” I complemented. This is actually one of the best ramen I ever tasted.
“Of course he is our one and only Chef Moon. Hyung show Yuna your intro.” Jungwoo Oppa said.
“Master Moon. You know what I’m sayin.” he said while making hand gestures. I clapped at his little intro.
We continued to eat until we all finished our ramen. We we’re all so full but Jungwoo Oppa decided to get the ice cream that they had in store. Before he could bring it to the table he dropped it which made Mark Oppa and I laugh very hard.
“Hyung you dropped the ice cream again.” Mark Oppa said between his laughs.
“Um mian Yuna-yah you’ll be tasting a bit of our floor in the ice cream.” Jungwoo Oppa said which made me laugh again.
“Aniya gwenchana Oppa, it's still ice cream. Plus it didn’t reach 5 seconds.” I said while catching my breath.
We proceeded to eat the ice cream that fell on the floor. We even had a few conversations and a few laughs here and there. Then Jaehyun Oppa asked a very important question.
“Ah, Yuna, do you know NCT?” he asked while taking a bite of his ice cream.
‘Shit what do I say?’ I thought in my head.
‘Should I lie to them or tell them the truth?’
If I lie to them, I would have a very hard time since I indeed am a fan of them. If I tell them the truth they might not speak to me again being the professionals that they are. But I don’t want to cut ties with them already. We were just warming up with each other.
‘Ottoke what should I do’ I thought, slightly sweating.
“Um…”

[TRANS] Chenle & Jisung’s interview with ELLE June 2020 issue!
Tumblr media
It's the first time for Chenle and Jisung to do a magazine shoot together. Both of you seemed to have given your fans spoilers ahead of the shoot. Jisung: Really, the time went by so fast. Rather than a shoot, it felt more like I was just playing around with Chenle. Chenle: <ELLE> is a magazine known by many people. I've known it since long-ago too. So I was even more excited about the shoot. Jisung: Me too! Ah, but how old is <ELLE>? 28th anniversary this year? Wow...
We are much older than you two, aren't we? Is this year your 5th summer together? Jisung: We've known each other since 2016, so yes, that's right. Chenle: We should stop seeing each other (laughs).
Although you get along as friends [same-aged friends], Chenle is in fact born in November 2001. He is one year older than Jisung who was born in February 2002. What was the reason to become friends [to drop formalities]? Chenle: Our birthdays are only two and a half months apart, and since we get along so well, I felt like there was no need for formalities [a hyung/dongsaeng relationship]. Of course, I regret having made that decision now. I mean it. (laughs). Jisung: I jokingly said, "Can't we just be friends?" but he took it seriously. Thanks to this, we can now comfortably talk with each other like this. Chenle: It's definitely more comfortable. In Shanghai, where I grew up, we don't mind much if there's a one or two year difference. And since the NCT team has a lot of members from overseas, the atmosphere is a bit more open.
Still, it must have felt weird to see your friend Chenle become a legal adult a year earlier than you. Jisung: I've seen the older members of NCT DREAM become adults one after another so I felt relatively indifferent. It's not like people suddenly change when they turn 20 years old. But, since we all debuted as teenagers, it is kinda weird that I'm the only minor left now.
How did the YouTube content 'ChenJi's This and That', that you two do together, start? Jisung calls it 'JiChen's That and This'. Jisung: Thank you for acknowledging it (laughs). It started from the thought that it would be great to make content that uses the advantage of us two who are like real friends. We make gifts for the members, stack dominoes, and also make menus that are popular on SNS Chenle: Although we also bring up ideas here and there, the staff ideas are always more fun. Ah, it was our idea to visit my home in Shanghai.
Chenle went to a lot of rides alone at the amusement park right. Chenle: He says he is too scared to go on rides that are hard, but thinks rides that are easy are lame. Isn't it really funny? Jisung: The easy ones don't look cool (laughs).
You just finished the promotions of your 4th mini album <Reload>. You have achieved many good results such as ranking first in the domestic music chart and music shows, ranking first on iTunes in 51 countries, and selling over 500k albums. How do you feel looking back? Jisung: I always have regrets whenever we finish promotions. Even though I have worked hard and had fun, when I look back, I feel like I could do better? Chenle: I'm completely the opposite. When the album promotions finish, I think 'It was really fun this time again, I'm satisfied!' I think especially for 'Ridin'' the stage was very exciting, and it was even better because I had fun with the members.
'Beyond Live', a live-streamed concert and video call fan signings are promotions that were not imaginable last year. Jisung: I'm glad that we can do something, but it's a shame we can't meet the fans in person. Chenle: It was a new and very exciting experience. Although it was through a video, you could clearly hear the voices and see the faces of the fans like this.
You also performed solo stages on ‘Beyond Live’ Chenle: I prepared our song 'Best Friend' on the piano, but the staff made the stage really cool. On the stage the moon was floating over the sea, it was very pretty and I'm really grateful and satisfied Jisung: I danced but I don't think it was to the extent of 'Awesome~ I did a great job!'.
With you two being the youngest out of NCT’s teenage team NCT DREAM, your growth is bound to be the most impactful. You must be surprised when you watch videos of when you just debuted. Chenle: Actually, as soon as we met today, Jisung had watched an old video of mine and said 'You were so cute back then but why are you like this now?'. Jisung: It was videos of him during promotion interviews for our debut song 'Chewing Gum' and 'My First and Last', and he was so cute. It was also when Chenle hadn't been in Korea for that long yet so he was still bad at speaking. Chenle: I couldn't watch the videos at that time. Still, when I look at the other members, I think everyone was so young and cute.
I heard that Jisung played a significant role in the fast improvement of Chenle's Korean. Jisung: Yes I was Chenle: I admit he helped. Although it's a problem that my weird Korean skills are also improving (laughs).
You have done TV shows and stood on stages before debuting at 15 and 16 years old. When did you feel like this is something you're good at and wanted to do something music-related? Chenle: I love to sing, so I released my first album when I was 7 years old. However, at that time, I thought it was a hobby and an experience rather than thinking of wanting to be a singer. After coming to Korea, I knew for certain that this was the path I wanted to take. Jisung: Rather than realizing it at some point, I think the expression 'right now' is right. While watching sunbaes at SM, my desire to be like that grew and I've come here doing what I wanted to do.
For broadcasts or special stages, Jisung has danced with the hyungs of SM's 'Dance Line' such as Super Junior Eunhyuck, SHINee Taemin, and EXO Kai. Jisung: They are really good at dancing and have a lot of experience on stage so it's really helpful when they watch me dance and talk to me [about it]. It felt like I was taking years of dance lessons all at once. Chenle: For me, I learn quickly thanks to Jisung. These days, Jisung is working hard on learning how to sing so I try to help a little too. I would say things like "I think this would be better?'. Jisung: Don't you tease me when I sing though. Chenle: Me? No, not me.
What song would you like to perform if you were to do an NCT stage together? Chenle: Since there are two of us, how about NCT U's 'Baby Don't Stop'? that Taeyong and Ten hyung did together. Jisung: Uhm, that's kind of a sexy song, don't you think we should do that in a few years? For me, I would like to do NCT U's 'Without You'. I think it's a good song to sing for us together.
NCT DREAM members have often said they still lack the skills and think they can do better. Where does that ambition come from? Chenle: There are times when I feel like I'm not good enough when I watch a video clip [of myself]. Other people might not see a big difference, but I do. In that case, I really concentrate and work hard. Jisung: I think everyone has that kind of desire because we debuted at a young age. When I watch the stage of the sunbaes, I feel like that even more.
How does it feel to be the youngest in a big group called NCT? Chenle: It's so good! Originally, I'm the type to prefer when it’s crowded. It's also fun to chat and play together when we practice. Jisung: I don't have a lot of friends from school. [NCT] is like a replacement for those relationships so I feel reassured. It feels like I have a bunch of people or hyungs who are close to me. Though the dinner costs are enormous (laughs).
What's the reason that two people with different personalities can be good friends and teammates? Jisung: Oh, now that I think about it it's really interesting. We're really the opposite Chenle: I think we get along so well because we are so different. The thing we have in common the most is that we like to play around with each other? And we're the noisiest. My voice is loud and Jisung talks a lot. A while ago he was talking to himself in the car while watching the night view. It's really funny to see it from the side Jisung: If you say it like that it makes me seem kinda weird, doesn't it? (laughs) I love to fantasize. What would I say if I were to go on a program like that? I think I was playing around while thinking about those kinds of things.
Are there any aspects of your friend that you want to be more known? Jisung: There are a lot of people who think of Chenle as a bright mischievous boy with a lot of laughter, but he also has a lot of serious conversations with me. He also has a lot of ambition. Unlike the introverted me, he is cool and outgoing so I learn a lot of things through Chenle. He is much cooler than he looks. Chenle: I'm a chic person (laughs). Jisung is the type of person who worries a lot about himself, and he is also evenly worried about the members' concerns. After taking care of this and that he proudly says 'Ah, why do I look like a leader'.
There are many adults and role models around you. Since you achieved your dream of debuting early, you must be worried about growing up well. Chenle: Instead of following someone with the burden of having to grow, I want to grow up naturally while keeping what I want to protect. I can learn good things and keep regretful things to consult, but I think my own standards are important. Jisung: When I first made my debut, I wanted to be a good adult and a good influence, and I still feel the same now. Sometimes I feel sorry for someone's behavior or words, but I don’t think that anyone can be perfect. Regardless, I try to absorb the good and positive aspects only.
When do you feel like you've grown? Jisung: When I have serious conversations with Chenle and the hyungs. The spectrum of the conversations has widened. I also think I have grown when I'm able to objectively look at myself without being too biased. Chenle: When you're going through puberty, you don't know that you're going through puberty. If you think you're grown up, I think it's because you're still young. I think you've grown up when you can admit to your shortcomings and immaturity.
How will the summer be for you this time? Chenle: First of all, Jisung will have 6 ice creams all at once. Jisung: (Back then) I had them throughout the day!

Jimin despised waking up early every day and then continuing to trot to the bus station. Did it even matter in the first place? School made him even more unmotivated than he already was in this part of life. In fact, there were no interesting and helpful topics he learned there and, furthermore, he thought that attending school was more something he fulfilled for his parents. They were always so proud of him when he brought home a good grade. So proud, that he always concealed how depressed school actually made him.  Going to school for so many hours to then attending the tuition classes and as if that weren’t enough also continuing studying at home, was that place that essential though? It just made him already completely weary when he wakes up on a Saturday. The only passion and hobby that he possessed was taking dance lessons, but even for those he rarely had time. He wanted to continue to attend them, but he was too overwhelmed with school that he was absolutely tired. On top of that, none of his friends actually tried to offer him a shoulder to cry or were even there to cheer him up.
They did not realise how it was to live up each day to the expectations of others, how it was to live for others, just how it was to be so damn dependent on someone. Of course, he wasn’t the only one that had parents that were expecting so much. However, the friends that he established were all free spirits and some of their parents were even condoning that.
Oh, how he envied them.
Why was he even so dependent on the hugs from his parents when he brought home an A, or just a simple “I’m proud of you” or “i love you”. It made him do things that he wouldn’t normally do. He was not expecting that just from his parents, but also from his friends. If he got these compliments and showers of love, he felt like it was okay to suffer. Maybe that was the reason why he was so lonely. He put himself into the moulds that people in his environment created for him. It ended up swallowing him up.
Nowadays, those he once called friends were ignoring him as much as they could, and his family didn’t really care about him. As long as he received  good grades and didn’t protest, they were fine with him. To be honest now without any distractions whatsoever he could completely concentrate on school, with his friends having stopped calling him on Friday nights to ask if he would come hang out with him on the weekend/following day.
They already knew he would find a pathetic excuse why he couldn’t attend. He was on his own.
Just as if someone like Kookie didn’t exist…
Kookie, or by his full name Jeon Jungkook, was his younger neighbour.
He was a few years younger than him and every time when Jimin was miserably trotting to school, the little one would always sprint his way up to him. Like Jimin’s puppy “Doraemon” trying to play with the little kids by running after them. Now after realising that, Jimin couldn’t stop thinking that they sort of looked similar to each other. That made him forget his sorrow for a little while, and he couldn’t stop smiling.
When Jimin was younger he always thought that Jungkook behaved that way because he looked up to him. Considering he was a few years older than him. Maybe he needed an older brother figure? Nowadays however Kookie comes to check if his pinkie grew out to be taller than the one of the older one. This cannot happen overnight of course, but Jungkook didn’t quite seem to understand how the mystery of time and patience worked.
“Hyung, just look! If my finger outgrows yours..! Then you need to marry me. You promised me!”
Jimin smiled gently. He actually stated that a few months back, because Jungkook wouldn’t stop bragging around that he was marrying Jimin soon. At first he thought it was cute, but after a while it started to get on Jimin’s nerves because he wouldn’t stop. So, the only option he had was to tell him they were still too young, and Jimin liked boys bigger than him.
To the surprise of the little one of course. He was absolutely bamboozled, his doe-like eyes grew even bigger in that moment, and he asked if he really needed to become taller than him, in order for him to take the older one’s hand in marriage. Jimin quickly grabbed the younger one by his hand and softly stated: “It’s enough if your little pinkie is bigger than hyung’s. And that needs some time, doesn’t it?” Kookie nodded shyly, examining the black and white converse chucks that the older one was wearing.
Looking back to it, he always ended up snickering a bit. The boy was truly a gift to the neighbourhood, everyone in the area loved him. Even though he was already growing up to become an adolescent, for all the neighbours he was still the little cute and gifted maknae, Kookie. A lot of his classmates that came to visit him were all trying too hard to look cool, which was normal for that age, but Kookie was still acting like a little adorable brat.
But dare you to recognize him and adore him back, face to face, then he turned into a big whiny mess.
Jungkook was indeed a once in a lifetime…
Jimin didn’t even know why Jungkook was so hellbent on “marrying” him. They were so young  and Jungkook so tiny. You wouldn’t tell he was twelve.
However, Jimin couldn’t stop feeling a bit flattered by the compliments and promises the little one gifted him. Even though it was “just his younger neighbour kid”.
“I firmly promise.” He hooked Kook’s little finger with his own, pulled his thumb onto his and made them touch. “You can trust your hyungie right?” Kook was already shyly staring at the pavement. Oh wow, now HE was the one that needed to be intimidated? “Of course, hyung.”
Jimin couldn’t contain himself, he chuckled. Jungkook was just such a… cutie pie.
To be honest, Jungkook isn’t 10 years or even 5 years younger than Jimin. The age gap consists of 2 years. That was completely alright. However, the height difference couldn’t be overlooked. Jungkook could reach Jimin’s chest at the moment, and the older one was sure that he would grow. However, the reason why Jimin was keeping his distance with his dongsaeng, was surely not the height difference. But rather that he would not stay right by his side. He wouldn’t continue to chase him down before school, ask for his pinkie in a cutely manner, or even give him the puppy eyes, to bribe him, so he could buy him his candies and banana milk. He would disappear in thin air. Just like his friends once did.
And that was bothering Jimin more than he would admit.
“You need to promise me that you’ll always give your best. Fate always brings those together that deeply care for each other. Okay?”
Jimin grabbed Jungkook by his shoulders, a bit tougher than he actually wanted, and he had a weird feeling in his guts telling him he wouldn’t see him again. He was indeed sure in his bones of the fact Jungkook would find someone better to look up to and adore.
In the end, Jimin was a loser, who wasn’t brave enough to run after his own dreams. And that sucked. Of course, it did. Jungkook shouldn’t stay here, though. Nothing should hold him here. Not even his first childhood romance.
If you could even call it like that..
“I’ll do that.. But if you forget me…!”
Jimin noticed the tears building up in Kookie’s big doe eyes, and he couldn’t contain his own sadness. It was so odd to see him in such a condition. He thought he would make some stupid jokes and then just say bye. Now looking at him like this, was concerning him.
“Hey… Oh Kook-ah!” He gently pushed Jungkook’s back into his arms, to embrace him into a hug. With one hand, the older one was caressing his little head while the other one his back.
“Hyung, will always be there with you. You cannot see me, but I’ll be right there by your side, alright?”
“I will miss you so much hyung.” the younger one replied with a trembling voice.
“You need to return quickly. You need to know if this one,” He showed his little pale pinkie. “Of yours, grew up to become bigger than mine, huh?” Jungkook’s lips finally formed a little smile, even though his eyes were still watery and red. “I promise. But when I come back you need to promise to marry me. Don’t you dare forget.”
Even though he wouldn’t admit it now, Jimin’s eyes back then were also filling up with tears. He caressed Jungkook’s head once more before moving away from the little one and facing him.
“This is a promise.”
Yet again they gave each other their little promise gesture. And then Jungkook was gone. Vanished, you could say without even leaving a trace. He did not forget a single thing. All his toys and plushies he loved, he kept. That was a bummer. Jimin hoped to have something from him to always keep him in his memories.
The first few years, Jimin welcomed home some letters. Or messages on his phone. After some time, however, even those stopped.
~ a few years later ~
“Jimin, you owe me more than one soju bottle for doing this…?”
Yoongi massaged his own lower back, after carrying a few boxes up to Jimin’s new place. He was not born to help him out, along with it, he also wasn’t born to carry heavy boxes like that. Why did Jimin even ask Yoongi from all the people he knows to help him out? He isn’t helpful in any way.
“Dude you brought up 2 boxes. You shouldn’t even get half of a soju bottle.” the younger one replied while lying down on the cold wooden plank. He was exhausted and didn’t even know why he was still going to college. He fucked up his first semester because he chose to listen to his parents and studied hotel management. Hotel management? From all the subjects the world has to offer, he chose fucking hotel management? Thankfully, he found his better half in the same classes and funny thing is he also seemed out of place.
His parents were not so happy to hear that. But in the end they accepted his choice and let him study whatever he wants. As long as he still went to college they didn’t care anymore.
In a way he was happy, but he was also fucking tired and disappointed in himself. Why did he even listen to his parent’s advice in the first place?
“I’m your sunbae, and the most important thing is that I’m your hyung. So, don’t be such a disrespectful piece of trash and be thankful that I was there to help you out.”
Yoongi scoffed back while he poked Jimin’s chest with his pale finger.
The younger one rolled his eyes and made some space for Yoongi to lay next to him on the floor. Even though there was a cheap sofa just a few meters away from them, on this hot summer day the best and also free thing was to just lay down on the floor. Jimin wasn’t rich in any way, so therefore he couldn’t afford an AC.
“Taehyung was too busy with his girlfriend. Hoseok hyung was too busy with his college work and the others were out partying.”
Yoongi shrugged his shoulders and took a sip from his lukewarm beer that Jimin bought him on their way to get here. He wasn’t necessarily into partying, especially not when it was that hot outside. Jimin was also the only one he was cool with, hanging out with him didn’t get on his nerves. That was a plus. And as long as he got his soju, he gives zero fucks.
“I’m the best hyung you have. Just sayin’.” He stood up pretty quickly from the cold wooden floor and offered his hand to the now blonde-haired boy. “Soju time.” Yoongi stick out his tongue and squeezed his eyes. Jimin couldn’t prevent himself from laughing. This hyung got some fairly good aegyo talent if alcohol was in play.
*
“Cheers!”
It was pretty late now. Jimin was starting to get tired and was unsure if he could pay for all the soju bottles they were destroying. “Hyung, how about you slow down a bit? I don’t think I can pay up for all of this.” Jimin was starting to count the tteokbokki and the soju bottles that they already devoured. 1, 2, 3, 4… no. It was impossible. He already was broke. He was happy that he could pay for even one bottle.
“Don’t worry too much. I knew you would say that. I asked for one bottle so just pay up for one if you want to.”
Jimin looked at him suspiciously, uncertain in what he was up to. Soon after he just gave up and stopped assuming that his older friend expected something from him in return. He was too drunk in the first place, thinking shouldn’t be an option.
“Come on, let’s get home. You look so drunk.”
“Am. Not?”
Jimin has always gotten pretty sassy and showed his big temper when he was drunk. It made Yoongi laugh, so he just played along.
“Okay, little one. Let’s go. Tomorrow is Uni-Day.”
Jimin tried. Standing up was hard, he felt like his eyes were coated with tiny little clouds. And his head was starting to ache really bad. “Hyung, please. Help me…” He pouted while searching for his hyung with his hands.
Little did Jimin know, Yoongi was actually paying for the food and the alcohol, snickering as he glanced at the helpless little blonde boy. It was always a different kind of entertainment to watch Jimin being drunk. And he adored that.
“Come on!”
Yoongi dragged Jimin out of the bar and linked his arms with his. Just to be careful. He could never be sure if he’s up to something. Drunk people are like kids. You can’t read their thoughts, and suddenly they’re crying because they’re doing something stupid.
“Hmm, which Bus should we take..?”
While Yoongi was looking through his phone, Jimin started observing his surroundings. It was pretty dark and refreshing to stand outside after drinking so much, with the weather tingling him. And he realised how happy he was that he didn’t barf tonight. It was an improvement for him.
The night still was young, one could never know.
While Jimin looked at all the posters glued on the windows and doors of the neighbour’s bars and restaurants, there was a specific one whom caught his attention. The boy on the poster looked so familiar…
Oh no. The boy on the poster… Is none other than…
That was damn Jeon Jungkook!
Jimin felt the puke climbing its way up to his throat, and he was so not welcoming it.
“Hyung… I think.. I need to..”
There we go.
“FUCK.”
*
After last night’s encounter with poster Jungkook, Jimin had such a bad mood that nothing on this planet could have cheered him up. And that fucking sucked.
His friends tried their best, but as they realised that even Mr. Kim’s class was not cheering him up a bit, they became worried.
“Jimin, you want some boba? I could buy some boba!”
Hoseok was really good at cheering up. He was such a funny spirit and always used his best words. But not even Hoseokie hyung’s jokes and cuddles or boba could cheer him up. If the older one could mix some magical powder in his boba, so he would forget all the heart-breaking memories he had with Jungkook… Then he would sure as hell take it.
“No, I gotta head to work. I’ll just drink coffee there.”
He grabbed his bag and trotted his way to the cafe where he worked part-time. Why was he even miserable in the first place? Jungkook was just a little boy back then –12 years old to be exact– thinking he was in love with him. That was it. How could a child know what real love was? Besides, why should Jimin care in the first place, when he already knew it was just a kindergarten love?
His headache was still not gone, and he was sure it did not entirely just come from alcohol…
“Hello, Noona.”
Jimin bowed towards his boss and grabbed his apron. Working in the cafe wasn’t even bad. He loved it to a certain amount. It was relaxing and soothing to create drinks and serve cakes and macarons. But he doubted that work today will help him overcome his past love.
“What’s wrong? Did you fail a test or something?”
Yoona washed her hands and prepared everything for Jimin to take over. She was two years older than him, and he was thankful for that. Jimin had no clue how to interact with people that were either way older than him or way younger than him.
“Nah, it’s just my brain.” He raised his index finger, pointed at his brain and took a deep sigh. “Overthinking.”
His older friend smiled lightly and tapped on his shoulder. “I don’t know what the problem is. But you will eventually overcome it. I promise.”
He nods, starting to cut some fruits to prepare some boba tea. It helped him to ignore Jungkook who was desperately trying to contact him in his head. Repeatedly knocking on his brain and crying out his name like a mantra: “Jiminie hyung!”
If that wasn’t bad enough.. Yoona forgot to tell him that there was a fancafe event today.
For Jungkook himself.
Jimin felt how his heart started to burst. Why was he so dependent on him? He didn’t see him for years and now suddenly after so many years he was following him around?
“Uhm, sir?”
A young girl, who was definitely still a high schooler, stood in front of the cash register and looked him straight in the eyes.
“We got permission from the Lady who was working here before. Just.. to be clear.”
He nodded, tried to smile, and gave her the permission again. Complimenting how beautiful the cafe looked and that they were doing a good job.
What should he even do? Be mad at the girl for being a fan? No. It wasn’t her fault.
“If you need help or anything. Say so.” He quickly continued and made his way to his best friend Taehyung, who was already sitting at his table.
“The usual?”
Tae nodded while glancing around at the cafe now full of Jungkook’s face. The tables were plastered with cups and cupcakes with Jungkook’s pictures, his name and birthdate. Of course, it was Jungkook’s birthday today. He completely forgot…
“Can I get my latte with this cup?” Taehyung tried to imitate Jungkook’s expression on the cup and gave the expression a little silly twist. Thankfully, the girls were busy putting posters on the wall, that they didn’t acknowledge him at all. The last thing he wanted, was a mob full of teenage girls getting at his nerves for disrespecting their “oppa”.
“Don’t ruin the fun for the fans. If that’s the way they want to show their love, they should.”
Taehyung looked up to him, confused. Since when was Jimin so nonchalant about events like that? He was literally the first one to complain about these girls or even boys who came to decorate the cafe with the handsome faces of the idols. The blonde-haired boy even went that far to call them “the slaves of the rich”.
“Anyway..” He stood up and followed Jimin to his working area. Taehyung would always order the same thing. A latte, a turkey sandwich, and a piece of the famous walnut cake. Jimin sometimes wondered if he wasn’t bored with picking the same order over and over again. But what did he care? As long as he was near him and could watch over him being an emotional mess and maybe even interfere if he were doing too much nonsense, he didn’t care at all.
“Did you see these girls? They are putting the posters up there like their lives are depending on it, it’s just a goddamn birthday of some self-centred sexy looking boy.”
Taehyung took a big sip of his latte and gave a disgusted expression.
Oh boy if you knew..
“Ah, by the way, I actually got to know the ‘self-centred-sexy looking boy’.
His best friend choked on the latte and stared at him, completely bewildered, and gave him a look. “No way..?!” Jimin shrugged his shoulders and put his food on the glass table in front of him. “Not a big deal, we were good friends back in Busan.” He casually responded as if it were the most normal thing that could happen to someone.
“And when did you think it was appropriate to tell me ?” Taehyung took a bite of his sandwich and skilfully avoided any eye contact with the smaller one. Jimin did not even need to look at him to know that he was probably pouting while eating to give him a guilty conscience.
Why should he feel guilty though? Everything happened way back in the past. Sometimes it’s better to let the past go. And the same rule was also directed to Kookie.
“You have something to say to me?” Jimin responded after a while. Shouldn’t it be Jimin’s choice to choose when to talk about specific things? Why is everyone always coming at him when he hid something from them? Doesn’t he have the right for privacy?
“Nah nothing. I was just wondering how you’ve gotten to know him. He’s pretty popular nowadays.”
“We were childhood friends.”
Taehyung raised his eyebrows and his eyes widened. He didn’t expect that Jimin was friends with the upcoming next ‘Taeyang’. Funny how one always discovers something new about their best friends.
“And you’re still in contact?” Taehyung suddenly started to welcome the idea of his best friend knowing a famous idol, that could open so many doors for them. Dreamily, he put a fork full of cake in his mouth. Just thinking that people would try to be friends with them and act like they are celebrities themselves made him cheerful. According to Taehyung, they weren’t exactly losers or anything, but they weren’t associated with the cool kids either. Jungkook could open so many doors for him.. and Jimin of course!
“Nah. He stopped writing me back.”
It was actually Jimin that stopped. But the questions on “why” and “how” would be too annoying for him, so he realised lying wouldn’t be that bad.
“Aw shit that sucks.”
After Jimin’s confession, they both stopped talking for a while. Taehyung confessed that he still had some schoolwork overdue and that he would concentrate on that, and Jimin stated that he was still in preparation for today’s work. However, both were still in eyesight to each other. Here and there they shared some moments, but overall, they did their own thing.
That was refreshing to Jimin.
Maybe he was selfish for being so demanding and wanting Taehyung to be near him. And also wanting him to be silent and letting him do his work, without interruption. Yet, at moments like these, he realised how much he actually respected their friendship and also how they’re both complete opposites from each other.
Taehyung was a pretty outgoing, friendly, and charming guy. Girls loved him and were undressing him with their stares when he was walking around campus, and guys wanted to be his friend, sending him invitations to notorious parties. In addition, he was also humble and disagreed with the fact that he was in any way “popular”. He was that clueless that he would make plans on how to get into parties that were from popular seniors but hasn’t realised that he indeed was literally the most treasured and desired boy in the whole campus. The majority of seniors weren’t interested in him, however they knew him. To the point that he would receive cute messages from pretty noonas.
Okay, maybe the seniors were indeed interested in him, but they had a big ego, and wouldn’t give him invitations, nevertheless.
A typical case of not knowing what is in front of your nose but wanting something that you’ll never get.
Jimin however… He was a hopeless loser.
Girls didn’t give a single shit about him, guys were ignoring him and would only greet him when Taehyung or his senior friends were next to him. He wasn’t interesting and he realised that fact one too many times. The only thing he was good for was when his colleagues wanted to get close to his friends through him. And that was nice for both sides. Jimin’s friends knew whom to ignore from now on, and the girls and guys who were trying had the hope to get closer to them.
What a shitshow.
The only great thing about college nowadays was that he actually had some real friends he could count on.
Thinking about the way his friends knew little of Jungkook made him feel glum. They pretty much knew a great deal about him, he told them everything. His relationship with his younger brother, his parents, his assholes of friends back then. But he always let Jungkook out. Even though he played such a big part in his life once.
And still does.
Yearningly he looked back to Taehyung, who had his earplugs in and typed something in his MacBook. He wanted to tell him how much he actually missed Jungkook. How much he loved him back then, and how sorry he was that he stopped replying.
The guilt in his intestines was driving him wild.
Maybe that was the problem. He was running away from the responsibility over their relationship. Why was he even scared? He had no clue.
Why did he stop replying? He knew how shy and insecure Jungkook was back then. He even wrote to him once, that he felt like crying whenever his fellow trainee-hyungs were interrogating him about his interests. And that he would look himself up just to take a long deep breath. After all the confessions the younger one made, Jimin just stopped replying? He was disgusted. And disappointed in himself.
Perhaps that was the reason why he was so remorseful and so careful to bring him up.
This was the first time he had friends. And he didn’t want them to leave him too.
On the other side, he felt guilty. Wanting to know if what he did was really that bad, or that maybe in any way, his friends would understand and forgive him.
“Taehyung-ah?”
Jimin raised his voice slightly. Not wanting to gain attention from Jungkook’s fans. He assumed the girls were nearly done with their work. They decorated the cafe in pastel colours and all the posters were already hanging on the wall. Apparently the only thing they still were working on was the TV, trying to connect it with their phones, possibly to put on some music videos.
“Tae?”
He raised his voice one more time. Again, not getting an answer.
“Now or Never” he thought.
Taehyung was his best friend, the only same aged friend he had to be exact. Why couldn’t he just be a hundred percent honest with him?
The blonde-haired boy walked towards the little table that was plastered full of Taehyung’s books, a notebook and his MacBook. He hoped for Taehyung to understand him and maybe even help him out to forget Jungkook. After so many years the younger one would’ve forgotten about him anyway…
“Something’s wrong?” Taehyung saw Jimin’s agonized expression and it worried him. He surveyed the restaurant. No one. The guests were perhaps put off by the girls that discussed vocally about the pictures that should be taken and didn’t even dare to enter the little cafe. Due to the minority of guests, he grabbed Jimin’s wrist and made him sit next to him.
“Finally! Will you tell me what’s been bothering you for so long?"
It sounded like he impatiently spitted these words out, but Taehyung was just worried. And maybe even a bit annoyed. Jimin wouldn’t keep things from him for so long. Most of the time he would write him a message, and Taehyung helped him out by cheering him up. Of course, there were also times where that wasn’t enough. Then, he would come pick his friend up without him realising, drag him to the closest "McDonalds” and have a late snack together. That’s just how things worked out between them.
Now seeing that his best friend was hiding something from him, and that it was overall bothering him to the point that he was spreading this bad mood around… Was especially concerning to him.
How could Jimin even decline Hobi hyung’s offer to boba?!
“There is so much that I didn’t tell you. And I feel fucking guilty. Seriously…”
Jimin’s voice started to break, and he needed to fight against his tears. He was so frightened that his friend would end this friendship, when he found out that he let the 13-year-old Jungkook back then, down. Mostly, because Jimin was kind of the caretaker of their little friend group. That also applied to Taehyung’s girlfriend who also was a pretty close friend to Jimin. If they find out about Jungkook maybe they’ll stop trusting him altogether.
“Bro.. that’s okay. Tell me. You make me all scared right now.” Taehyung grabbed Jimin’s cold hand and put his own two hands on it. “Does it have something to do with that Jungkook guy?” Jimin gulped. He needed to be completely honest with him about this. About his feelings and in general, about the relationship he shared with his once younger friend.
“Yeah, actually it does.” Jimin responded, while still staring at their hands. It helped him a lot to feel Taehyung’s hands on his own. He once noticed how much tanner he was than him. And he remembered once again how different they are from each other. Even when it came to things like outer appearance.
So then, after recollecting his thoughts, he spilled everything out. How they both shared this deep-rooted relationship, and how both shared the mutual trust and love in each other. He revealed every single point, and how Jungkook made him feel. Even though, back then, he was younger and smaller than him. Kookie was the only one that understood him and stood by his side.
Jimin was sharing all these intimate moments that he had with his dongsaeng, while he didn’t recognize how Taehyung was smiling widely about the way he mentioned cute little habits that Jungkook possessed and even the grimaces he once did to cheer him up. Talking about these habits eventually helped Jimin to overcome his tension about this topic.
“I told you that he stopped replying, remember?"
Taehyung still extremely interested and who seemingly forgot that he had schoolwork to do, nodded while rubbing his thumb on Jimin’s outer hand.
"Well, that’s not the entire truth… I was the one who stopped replying to him."
His friend was in point of fact a bit surprised, but he wasn’t angry or disappointed. More rather he wondered why Jimin did that to be exact.
"It’s just so complicated. He was writing to me about his hardships and I had this weird feeling that I couldn’t help him out. I also missed him so much and every time I would start a new letter my hands always mindlessly wrote the words "just come back home Jungkook-ah, hyung misses you”. Even though it was selfish of me. Then I–”
He finally gained the courage to look his friends in the eye. “I just stopped replying whatsoever.“
Now, it was over. He said everything completely honest and every single word that was spoken came out of his heart. The desperate wish that Taehyung would understand was still booming in his head.
"Jimin-ah… That’s okay."
Was everything that came out from his better half. And even that seemed enough for a second.
*
It was now time to head home. Taehyung insisted on bringing him and on the way they could order some food. The black-haired boy knew that Jimin wouldn’t eat anything if something was bothering him, and he always remembered how his mom constantly told him that eating some delicious food was always a good way to forget about all the small melancholic things in life. Even if it was just a few hours.
"Let’s order some chicken with some beer. That’s perfect for this ugly weather."
Even though it was blazing hot yesterday, today it was heavily raining. Without Taehyung’s umbrella they sure as hell would have a problem.
After their conversation, Taehyung wanted to actually strangle Jimin for even thinking he would end this friendship just because of some idol boy. He made some jokes to cheer him up, and told him numerous times that it was alright. There was a solid reason why he didn’t write back, and if there was ever going to be a moment where Jungkook and Jimin eventually meet, from the way Jimin was describing him, Jungkook would understand.
"I just want to let this go, you know. But I don’t know if screaming out of my lungs or breaking stuff will help me.” Jimin stated sadly, while nibbling on his fried chicken. He actually was hungry, but eating was exhausting to him.
All he had in his mind was Jungkook.
In one picture, little Jungkook who was crying and repeatedly asking why he abandoned him, and in a different picture there was Jungkook, all grown up, ignoring him on purpose and burning all the letters that he ever sent to him.
“This might be a super stupid idea… But how about you write him a letter, telling him in all details what happened ? Like, why you stopped writing back and stuff."
In all honesty, that sounded like a good idea to the blond. He can imagine how just writing down the words "I’m sorry” will clear up his guilty conscience. There was also no possible way that Jungkook would read it, either way. He was such a popular idol nowadays, he definitely received tons of letters every day.
“No, I actually think that may help me…"
Taehyung gifted his best friend a boxy smile while he put some fried chicken on his own plate. He always had a strong appetite. Looking at his friend eat so happily made Jimin full in a second.
"When you finish writing, send me your letter if you want.”
Jimin looked at him like a scared puppy. How could he possibly show him this side of himself? All sensitive and vulnerable?
He would rather stab himself.
“No, that’s fine. I’ll just write what comes to mind and send it."
Taehyung gave him a thumbs up with a pout. A cute habit he had while eating. Jimin smiled brightly and gave him one of his fried chicken that was sitting on his plate for some time. Eating wouldn’t calm down his stomach, which was now full of little butterflies.
*
03:00 am.
Jimin was laying on the wooden floor. Slightly banging his head repeatedly against the tile, hoping something good will pop up in his brain.
As soon as Taehyung left, Jimin mindlessly, started to walk around his little apartment. Wishing with every step, for something good to pop out of his head, maybe some artistic poetic words? A simple sorry wouldn’t be enough, that’s all he knew.
Just like that, time passed.
Jimin didn’t know what to say. He was too inflicted with himself and thought that no matter what he wrote, he could never be forgiven. Right there at this moment he wondered what Jungkook did right now. It was definitely ridiculously hard to be an idol, especially nowadays where K-Pop started to go viral around the globe.
When he was younger, he always imagined while writing letters to his younger friend, what Jungkook was doing right at that moment. Back then it felt like the letter was even more sincere.
So, what did he think Jungkook was doing right now?
He imagined him playing around with his guitar or game till sunrise. Jungkook was always a night owl, staying up pretty late and coping with the fact that he rarely slept. Even though he would feel how his eyelids start to fall on their own, he would still stubbornly, force himself to stay awake. That was something they both had in common.
The older one remembered the times where he would sit in front of his house trying desperately to finish off his homework, while the younger one would walk up to him all ninja style and annoy him with questions. All of it happening at midnight of course.
The desperate wish of Jimin was that Jungkook was still like, well.. Jungkook.
Humble, adorable, funny, dorky.
As he thought of his past love, he immediately grabbed his pen and wrote down a sincere letter. Being honest with him, telling him how his life went these couple of years,  finishing off with a confession, that the younger once always wanted to hear him say:
"I once wholeheartedly loved you, and I still do."
*
"Aw damn.."
Hoseok stared at him like the emoji with the big eyes, that was perfectly matching to him. Jimin finally had the guts to confess to his other friends what actually really happened, and surprisingly they were all super nice about it.
Deep down, he knew they would understand. However, it still made him happy to see that they were so invested in his little complicated love story.
"You could literally make a whole movie about this…?” Jin stated while looking afar and making a weird gesture, implying a camera. “It would be like "The Notebook” just reversed.“
"I don’t really want to see this in movie theatres though, that would just be weird."
Namjoon always acted a bit awkward when it came to romantic stories or even love stories in general. He would always listen to their stories about their hook-ups or their genuine crushes, but he never gave a weird noise off himself, like a high-pitched “aww” or something, that he thought something was cut. Just simply listened, maybe gave some advice, and then he would go on correcting Jin on his bullshit.
Classic Namjoon’s.
"I don’t even think he will write back or something… I wrote him, yeah that’s true.. But I don’t expect a reply."
All his friends at the table stared him down. Ready to kick his small little ass.
"Jimin you stupid fucking moron.” He glared at the pale boy who was finally eager to state his own opinion on this.
Min Yoongi in his whole presence.
Just a few minutes ago, he was all uninterested, poking in his salad and asking random people for advice on a history exam he had in a few hours. Likewise, Jimin also tried not to give two shits about his advice whatsoever. So why did he suddenly catch interest in it?
“If you really think he wouldn’t reply, then that makes you again the weaker person."
Trying not to look too engrossed, he gave his leftover fries to Taehyung’s girlfriend, Jess, who happily devoured them. He was absolutely good at avoiding eye contact, his hyung could try everything to lock eyes with him but he would never let him.
"You described him as the nice, funny and understanding guy. Do you really think he didn’t wait every day for you to write him back?"
Fuck, he had a point there. Rather than giving in, Jimin rolled his eyes and continued to stroke his untouched burger with his index finger. "I don’t know. There might be a chance that he changed."
Yoongi’s little scoff was loud enough to witness and in the corner of his eye he could see him resting his hand on his forehead. His face screaming: absolutely irritated.
"How would you know? You might haven’t even changed at all? What kind of hypocrisy is it in making yourself believe that he changed just because he got his share of fame? Have a little trust in him, would you?"
Now Jimin started to get a bit frustrated. What did he even expect from him in the first place? That he would wait all day till the mail arrives and then cry his eyes out after realising Jungkook didn’t write back? He was not even expecting that, so why should he drive himself into doing it?
"Hyung how about you mind your own business, huh?"
Yoongi rolled his eyes, grabbed his notes and backpack while staring at him in disbelief before leaving.
The atmosphere now was absolutely awkward.
"I know you don’t wanna hear this… But Mister Min has a point there.”
Hoseok broke the silence. Thankfully, all the others sighed in relief and nodded their heads.
“Have a bit of trust in him. I’m not saying that you should wait for him every day to write you back or something. But just…”
His lips closed, teeth clenched, and his eyes twitched due to him urging them to close. Waiting for his brain to come up with a good word.
“Patience!”
He screamed, pointing at the confused Jimin who was now sliding back into his seat. Extremely embarrassed.
“Sorry.” He chortled. “Was I too loud?”
Tae brushed it off by making a gesture to make him continue his started speech.
“Anyways… You need to stay patient. Find a balance. Don’t be too disappointed every day, but also don’t give up on him. Give him his time.”
Everyone who was seated, slowly started to get up either going to classes or getting back to the dorms. Except for Jimin and Taehyung.
Jimin’s best friend was just staring at him. Hoping to see some kind of change of heart. He wanted the best for him, after all Jimin was always there for him too.
“And?”
Taehyung broke off the silence once again, while coughing the word out.
The blonde-haired boy peeled off the etiquette on his “Gatorade” bottle, and just nodded. What else should he even do at this point.
He knew that they were actually saying the right thing. Even Yoongi hyung. Nevertheless, it was hard to stay calm about it. Jungkook was always someone he wanted to be close with, but he never had the guts to do something about it. Not to mention, playing it off, telling himself that it was just a kindergarten crush. When in reality it wasn’t.
“Stay strong dude. See you later?”
Giving him just one last little pat on the shoulder, he left.
Letting Jimin drown alone in his thoughts.
*
And like that the days went by. Pretty quickly, even Jimin needed to admit to that.
College, work, hanging out with friends. All of that. Everyday.
Jungkook creeping up in his thoughts here and there, but never to such an extent as he expected. When he ate something, whereas he knew that Jungkook once loved too, he would think of him for a brief moment. And that was all. Smiling for a bit and then erasing him from his thoughts for the rest of the day. After days full of insomnia and lack of appetite… Finally, he felt like he could let go.
It turned out that it was easier for him to let Kook go, even though he was sure that there was simply no chance that he would have read the letter the older wrote for him.
Still… something about just writing his thoughts on a sheet of paper made him feel absolutely relieved.
It felt like he sent these feelings and honest thoughts to Jungkook. Just in a weird and telepathic way.
“Do you have the notes from that one lecture… uhm.. where we talked about 'The Catcher in the Rye’?”
As always Taehyung was grabbing Jimin back into reality.
“Huh?"
Jimin took his airpods out of his ears. Rubbing his eyes tiredly, confused as to what he wanted from him.
They always studied together, especially when it came to the exams from Mr. Kim. Even though he was extremely awesome and an outstanding professor, he also expected thrice as much.
Taehyung grabbed his notes, that were uhm… not really there?
Jimin chuckled, going through his hair while searching for that one specific lecture where Kim was discussing Holden Caulfield’s character and if anyone felt the same as him in a specific time in their life. The blonde remembered that he was discussing with him a lot about that issue yet being careful about touching any parts that matched Holden’s character to his.
He loved analysing the characters, and deep down he also loved to take a harsh comparison to them with himself.
Holden was such a free nature, he never listened or cared about his environment and what they thought was the right thing for him. He just did what he needed to do, maybe even exaggerating a bit, in the process of finding himself.
Jimin was actually the counterpart of him. He always cared and wanted to be accepted by his friends and family. Mentally, however he also felt like Holden. Trapped in a society where you needed to fulfil someone else’s dream, or someone else’s path. But what if one’s path was different? What if he doesn’t want to go to school, be an ace student and marry some women and create his own family? What if he just wants to do his own thing? Concentrating on just being happy?
"Here we go.” He handed his friend a perfect 5-piece sheet of notes of all the analysing points Kim addressed. Just as Taehyung was grabbing the notes, his eyes started to glitter full of relief.
“What would I ever do without you Jimin-ah!” Jimin winked at him, while offering him some honey butter chips. “You would terribly suffer.” He replied while trying to imitate a darker voice.
Like that, they continued their work, helping each other out if there were some specific questions, reading out the passages of J. D. Salinger’s novel, and repeating all the points Kim addressed.
“Ah shit.” Taehyung looked at his phone, quickly packing up his things and closing his MacBook.
Jimin smiled, he forgot the time once again and realised he needed to go to some date with Jess.
Typical Taehyung.
“Hurry up or I’ll snitch on Jess the next time and make you bad!” Jimin replied quite happily, while smacking his friend’s ass with his book.
“Dude don’t. That woman will stare at me with her medusa eyes!” He continued while grabbing things with a rushing panic, throwing it into his bag.
Of course, it was all jokes and fun, and Jess would always forgive him no matter what. Due to Taehyung being extremely loveable of course. They had the best relationship, Jimin could think of. Both were the most amazing human beings, and their relationship was so healthy. He wished that one day, he would meet that one person too. And fell head over heels for someone. Hopefully once again. In the near future.
“Ah Jiminie…"
Jimin, who was still laying on his bed, looked over to the door frame where Taehyung was standing and still in the process of wearing his shoes.
"I’m so happy that you are doing better."
Jimin just smiled lightly as a reply, waving with his hand, indicating that he should leave already. A quick "love you, bye!” and then he was gone.
The blonde went back into laying on his stomach, grabbing the novel. It looked horrible, completely read out and crinkled. Showing how much, he actually loved it.
Just like that, the late afternoon turned into an early night.
Taehyung came along with him after a lecture they visited together. They both ordered food, as always, and then started to switch their notes. Of course, Jimin was more thorough when it came to writing notes, but it didn’t bother him at all to help his friend out. Tae was amazingly good at analysing. Thoughts that he never imagined would come up in Tae’s brain in an instant.
Such an intelligent but absolutely lazy boy.
Now it was already past 8pm. The thought of needing to eat was alarming in the back of his head. But he was exhausted and just wanted to sleep.
After a quick search, he found a single pack of Ramen. He quickly put the pot on the stove and waited till the water heated up.
Suddenly, he heard someone knocking on his door.
His doorbell stopped working for some reason, so therefore his friends would just message him that they were there. Taehyung was the only one who would knock, but first, he was already gone and secondly, he had a weird knocking style.
He would abuse his door as a percussion to be exact.
“Who is it?” He anxiously raised his voice a little. But still no reaction.
“Whoever that may be. Can you just tell me who you are?"
Still no reaction. After a while, the person started to knock again.
Jimin was prepared for moments like these. He quickly grabbed a pretty unsharp butter knife and put his ear on the cheap door. He could swear he heard someone snickering. His heartbeat was increasing rapidly.
One hand was wandering from the door to the knob, while the other held tightly the grip on the knife.
Slowly he opened the door, his heart stopping momentarily, after seeing someone who seemed to be dressed completely in black.
Thank god, the person had some great taste though that’s for sure.
First he saw the shoes, just some plain black converse chucks, then his eyes wandered up to the person’s pants. Also black, with some chains dangling around the area where the pockets were. Once he found his way to the person’s torso, the man was grabbing him by his arms.
The smaller one from both of them, who seemingly was Jimin, started to shut down his eyes. Completely terrified.
"Hyung? Can you just stop the games and look me straight in the eye?” The taller man broke the silent awkward atmosphere.
For some reason, the voice sounded so familiar but at the same time completely foreign.
Jimin opened his eyes slowly, looking up to the man, still squinting.
“It’s me. Jungkookie."
*
Silence.
Awkwardness…
Now sitting in front of each other, Jimin felt completely bamboozled.
Was this some reality show?
"Your tea is getting cold… there..” Jimin raised his index finger and aimed for the little teacup.
“Ah yeah. That’s fine. I’m not really here to drink tea to be honest."
The younger one, took a sip from his tea while staring, confidently, at the older one.
Jimin quickly looked away, feeling how his heart started to go crazy in his chest.
"Hyung, how have you been?” Jungkook came closer to him, dragging the chair as close as possible to the table, staring at the nervous hands of the older one.
“Nothing much. Just college stuff."
Biting on his under lip, he realised how happy he felt but at the same time his guilt started to come back and nagged on his intestines.
"Oh hyung.” Jungkook rolled his eyes while grabbing Jimin’s tiny hands. It was an unexpected gesture. Kook’s hands however, were so warm. Jimin’s hands in comparison were freezing cold. Jimin realised that he appeased himself more.
“I’m sorry, Kookie…"
Here he was. Sitting in front of him. Holding his hands, as if he was the one that fucked up. Even though it needed to be the other way around.
"I fucked up.”
He couldn’t handle the emotions that were starting to tear him apart. The complete opposite sides of emotions were clashing with each other, overwhelming him. Happiness on one hand, since Jungkook finally found his way back to him, but sadness because he felt like he did not deserve it. Relief, as it seemed like Jungkook came back to accept his letter, but on the other hand also guilt. Since it was not fair of him to believe that he would gladly do that.
“Hyung…” Jungkook’s grip on Jimin’s hands was tighter now and while he looked at him, smiling softly, seeing the tears flowing down on the pale skin of the older one, he couldn’t overcome his heart bursting. Seeing him like this was not his aim. Not at all.
Jungkook closed his eyes, pulling Jimin’s hands closer to him. Dragging him softly to him, so that Jimin had no choice but to slightly get dragged up on the table.
Softly, he kissed Jimin’s hands. Making Jimin just sob even louder than he was before.
“No, you didn’t.” Jungkook’s voice broke.
Jimin looked at him. Frightened that he made him cry as well.
The black-haired boy was still covering his face with Jimin’s hands. It felt so natural, and there was no sign of weirdness in the air. Something about this touch felt too familiar.
And then he realised…
When they were younger, Jimin would always grab Kookie’s hands and lay them on his cheeks. It was something he always did when Kookie would run behind him before school. And quickly, Kookie would turn silent. Acting shy.
What both never really knew was, that both of their hearts were beating strongly. Together.
“I’m so sorry too."
Finally looking up from the older’s hands. "I missed you a lot."
Jimin smiled. Standing up, while still having Jungkook’s hands intertwined with his. Jungkook followed his action, also standing up. The height difference made him chuckle even more. And quickly like that the tears were forgotten.
"I missed you so much.” Jimin replied, while falling onto the younger’s chest.
So many years, both of them were silently loving each other. Trying to forget, trying to erase all the memories. But it was impossible. And now both of them were here, standing in Jimin’s crappy apartment holding each other in their arms and forgetting the hurtful years that they lived without each other.
“But wait a second!” Jungkook broke away from the hug, quickly wiping his tears, and then grabbing Jimin’s hand once again.
“Hmm let’s take a look…"
"Aw come on. Really? Still, to this day?"
Jimin just chuckled, while Jungkook was testing out if his pinkie was finally taller than Jimin’s. And of course, it was. There was no need to even look. Jungkook’s hands were enormous in comparison to Jimin’s tiny hands.
"You know what that means?"
The blonde just laughed and quickly hit the younger one’s chest rapidly.
"First we need to have some dates. Don’t you think?"
Jungkook rolled his eyes, while dragging the younger one back into his arms. "So many problems along the way. Horrible!” He joked, while grabbing Jimin’s head softly, dragging him onto his chest.
The older one took the chance to take in the beautiful smell of Jungkook. It was hard to describe, something sweet but in the same way not extremely intrusive. Rather delicate, soft. He could swear somewhere while smelling it, he could sense… lavender? And in an absolute weird way… He swore that he also smelt the only perfume his mom would wear back then.
While his head was still dug into Jungkook’s chest, he felt how his eyes formed tears once again. He felt like he smelt all the mesmerizing things again that was once everyday life. Jungkook smelt like Busan, like his dog “Doraemon” and like all the cherry popsicles they both blissfully devoured.
He smelt like home.
Jimin realised how much he missed his hometown. He had the urge to go back and just relive everything with Kookie.
All these thoughts rushed into his mind, and it made him feel hopeful for the future.
He looked up to the black haired boy who was still snickering cutely, and Jimin had the urge to poke his cheeks. He was so adorable, the way he smiled, had the same impact on him like a single shot of soju. It loosened his nerves and he felt like he wasn’t as tense anymore.
He had a feeling that he could fight every problem that would come to tackle him, eye to eye.
“Do you want to stay overnight?"
Jimin silently asked. Wishing he would accept his offer.
Jungkook hugged him even tighter, as if Jimin would run away from him, if he said no. "I wish I could say yes… But I can’t. Not today."
Jimin nodded, while poking his nose against the younger’s hard chest. "I cannot wait till you can."
*
The light of the sun was shining through the thin curtain. Sun rays tickling the blonde’s face, waking him up softly.
Jimin was confused. It was already morning? He would normally wake up in between his restless sleep, sometimes he would even lay in bed and stop wishing for sleep. Just accepting that he won’t sleep.
His dear old friend insomnia.
However, yesterday was different. He fell asleep right there, as if somebody were using a remote controlling him. Pushing the "off” button.
It felt like weeks where Jimin was last sleeping peacefully. It was a relieving feeling. No headache was awaiting him, or the urge to chug down  5 cups of coffee to get through the day.
Of course his problems were still awaiting him nonetheless. Yet the anxiety… was on a way lower level. He felt like he could easily confront his frustration as well as his insecurities.
He was hopeful.
And just as that, he realised how much time he actually had left. Enough to take a longer shower, and even enough to eat a little breakfast.
Normally “breakfast” wasn’t included in his life. Time was always running, and he rarely had time to dress up.
Today was an exception whatsoever.
While making him a little breakfast that included coffee, eggs some tomatoes and bread his phone vibrated quite aggressively on the kitchen counter.
Quickly, he grabbed his phone, at the same time also trying to manage his eggs who were really close to burning.
“Jimin-ssi, did you sleep well? I want to see you. Let’s meet up shouldn’t we? I will be there next to you sooner or later. Wait for me. I want to surprise you.”
P.S: Also here is a little something for you :3"
Jungkook always drew little sketches back then in Busan, and would deliver it to Jimin in all different ways. It was a cute habit, and Jimin was sure he still had the sketches somewhere in a box.
The sketch that Kook drew this time, involved someone who seemed to smile shyly. His cheeks were all smudgy, probably on purpose to give it a cute look. The eyes of that person were covered by someone else’s hands. Who that person was, is not known. You couldn’t really see the body of that person, just the hands that were caressing the smiling person’s eyes.
The person was no one other than Jimin himself.
He was awed by how good Jungkook’s sketch looked. It was drawn quickly, but he seemed to work on the details after the first outline. Like the smudged grey pencil stains on the cheek, or the shadows that he must’ve drawn quickly afterwards.
It made him feel cherished.
Jungkook took the time out of his own busy life to draw this little painting of them, and it made him fall even more in love with him.
* “Damn, Jimin is everything alright?” Jin went through Jimin’s blonde hair, then caressing his forehead checking as if he had high temperature. In return he rolled his eyes trying to push Jin’s hands away. “He seems so cheerful and motivated today? He even contributed to Ms. Hwang’s class… Puhhh..!” Jess dropped her backpack on the table and continued to rub her temples. Ms. Hwang was an old grumpy lady who wasn’t born to teach at all. There was no respect to her students whatsoever and anything that she liked, was mostly the same opinion she had, or people who just kissed her ass for the sweet extra credit. A horrible prof, how it should be presented in the dictionary. “I don’t know. It’s just nice. I feel like things are getting better for me… I don’t know..?” One by one, everyone started to take a seat. As if they telepathically saw Jimin with good mood, and couldn’t believe it. “So how is Jungkook?” Yoongi asked, quite interested. That was completely shocking to anyone who sat at the table, they looked at him as if they were worried. “You really care?” Jimin asked, once again avoiding eye contact. “Yup. I wouldn’t ask, if I didn’t care.” He grabbed an apple and bit into it, directly looking at the younger boy. “He is absolutely amazing."
* After spending some quality time with his friends, he was preparing himself to go back to work. Normally Taehyung would join him, just keeping an eye on him and spending some alone time with his friend. Today however, Jimin told him that it was fine. That he did not need to come along with him. Jimin always felt bad for needing Taehyung in such an excessive manner. His best friend had a girlfriend and he should spend some quality time with her too. They both were heavily interested in art, therefore Jimin gave them two tickets for a well-known atelier opening that one of his classmates gifted him. Jimin helped that particular classmate out with a literature exam once, so he wanted to thank him in return with them. They both deserved it. They were always there for him, now it was time for Jimin to give back. As soon as he started his work, he became even more relaxed than he already was. He wished that this feeling… Being hopeful about the future… would eventually stay. Jungkook was also a big part of it, it felt like he showed him all the good parts of life, and he welcomed that. One by one all the known customers were starting to give their order. Normally, there wouldn’t be that many new customers, the cafe was near college and it was mostly either college kids who want to work peacefully or the elderly who want to kill time. All in all, pretty peaceful. Today, however, there was someone wanting to take an order that Jimin never met before. He tried to remember but there was no way that he knew that person. That specific person was wearing glasses and a bucket hat, wearing completely black. After working on that order and putting it onto the glass counter in front of that unknown person, he heard a familiar giggle. Jeon Jungkook. Of course. "Oh my god. What are you doing here? Isn’t that a bit too risky?!” Jimin whispered while nervously taking the money from Kook. “That’s all fine. People rarely look at me, when I come with this attire.” He responded while showing off his clothes. Jimin couldn’t contain a snicker.
What a stupid idiot he was…
“Is that what you meant with 'surprise’?"
"No, my surprise is actually a picnic in Han river. I wanted to see you. That’s all.” The blonde couldn’t stop himself from putting his hand on his chest. His heart pounded loudly, and this time it didn’t come from panicking. “When?"
"Whenever. I don’t have any schedules today and tomorrow. I just had a comeback a few weeks ago. It was simple, so the promotions aren’t that long. My company is also pretty nice and let me take some days off.” Jungkook took his food, without even looking back and waiting for an answer, he quickly sat down on the next best table. Of course it was a table that was right next to Jimin.  The blonde rolled his eyes, yet wholeheartedly accepting the risk that they both put themselves into. He trusted Jungkook, and he felt happy to be next to him.
*
Looking at the old clock right next to his working space, he realised that his shift was ending sooner than he expected. “Ready to go to the picnic?” He asked Kook who was still managing to look like he was reading. “Finished already?” He quickly put down his book, his grimace looking like he was so disappointed that he needed to stop reading. “Do you know that you are an idiot?” Jimin responded with a slightly rougher tone. Jungkook smiled while taking off his sunglasses, even though he still wore a mask, Jimin could see the skin next to his eyes wrinkling. Without a proper response, he gently grabbed Jimin’s hands and put back his sunglasses on. And like that both left the establishment, making the customers question themselves who that good-looking man was, who has Jimin wrapped around his little finger. * “Ughh, I’m so full…” Jimin stroked his stomach, while looking at the leftover food. It was nearing the end of the day, and he realised how today felt like a quick catch of breath. The whole time, they were spending together, seemed to be packed in indulging their childhood and missing the time where they couldn’t be one. “Really? Already? You were always a bad eater..!” Jungkook responded while quickly grabbing the leftover spring rolls and tteokbokki. “It’s so good to dib it into the sauce, ahh you’re missing out.” “I really did.” Jimin said to himself while looking at the hungry Jungkook devouring the last bit of food. He closed his eyes and felt how fresh the wind was feeling on his skin. The night was still young, but he already felt how tired he actually was. This day was an improvement to the last couple of weeks. But he knew that he needed to improve more; to be the person he always yearned to be. For some it might feel far-fetched to say that Jungkook was the reason why Jimin felt better. And maybe it even was. Nevertheless, wasn’t it normal when specific people in your life made you feel better about yourself? Wasn’t it the case in a healthy relationship ? “Thank you, Jungkookie.” The black-haired boy was looking up from his food, midst slurping his noodles. Tilting his head like a confused puppy. Jimin caressed the crumbles on the corner of his lips away, and locked eyes with his lover. Jungkook quickly finished his noodles, before coming closer to the blonde. Jimin took this as a chance to grab Kook’s chin to face him again. And there it was. The soft shy smile the younger, once gifted him. Right there at that moment, Jimin knew what he wanted. “I love you.” It was as simple as that. Jimin pecked Jungkook’s lips softly, tasting like all the sweet promises they gave each other. “I thought you would never say that.” Jungkook replied while kissing him right back. A bit rougher, but still soft enough. Without them even realising it, the sun went down, both of them finally admitting their deep-rooted history. Waiting for such a long time, made the kiss even sweeter, Jimin thought to himself. Sometimes you find people in a state of life, when you need them the most. And sometimes the people who were once your hope, come back and decide to stay all over again. They both kissed for such a long time that Jimin didn’t notice how his phone was vibrating aggressively on the blanket underneath them. Until finally Jungkook let go of the kiss, smiling shyly while pointing at the phone that was still annoying the peaceful state they were in. “You wanna take it?” “Ughhh.. who is the cockblocker, do I need to kill him…” Jimin whispered more to himself, while grabbing his phone and checking the messages. “Ah fuck, I completely forgot..” Jimin stood up quickly, searching for his keys and bag. While Jungkook was still sitting on the blanket, cross-legged, patiently waiting for him to give a proper response. “My friends have that night where we all meet up at our favorite bar to drink and eat while talking about all the shit we went through. We mostly do that once in a month.” Jungkook raised his eyebrows, still looking at the confused and panicking Jimin. “It’s okay, if you need to go. I’ll clean this up and we meet up tomorrow?” Jimin laughed, acting like it was the dumbest idea he heard. “No, no, no. Sir! You are coming with me. You will meet them!” Jungkook quickly stood up from the blanket and looked at him all shocked. His doe-like eyes widened. “Already?” Jimin nodded, quickly cleaning their little spot and putting the plastic into the next close trash can. “They will love you! They are a bit chaotic but that’s actually endearing, trust me!” He grabbed Jungkook’s hand and dragged him with him. This is going to be an interesting night, that’s for sure…
*
The club where they meet up once in a month was the city’s hottest place. Every college kid wanted to spend their Friday nights there, it was heavily crowded, therefore you mostly needed to reserve a table beforehand. That job was actually Jin’s, but he usually forgets, so thus Joon took over. Whenever a month was coming to an end, they all meet up, talk about their experiences and drown their worries with alcohol. It was a tradition all of them enjoyed. And Jimin knew that they all wanted to get to know Jungkook, so why not now? “Ah, I heard of this place.” Jungkook screamed, now wearing his whole attire again, hoping to prevent any potential fans catching him. He hoped he could get a glimpse of Jimin’s friend group, who told him a lot of things about them but it was so crowded that it was extremely hard. “They are all up there, we have an own lounge. So you don’t need to wear all of this!” Jimin screamed back, the music was too loud down there and he was happy when he could meet his friends soon. The younger was obedient and let himself drag around the club, while looking at all the different things that were happening. Jimin couldn’t contain a smile, Jungkook was so precious. “Guys! HEY!” Jimin first saw Yoongi, then Hoseok then all the others. They were all dressed fancily, and Jimin quickly felt like he was way underdressed. “Oh, hey guys!” Hoseok catched that both of the boys were still holding hands, and quickly smiled brightly. “You need to be Jungkook?” Jimin saw his look so he quickly let go, feeling embarrassed. His face rapidly getting tomato red. Jungkook quickly took off his mask, bucket hat and glasses with one hand, while the other was still shamelessly taking a hold onto Jimin’s waist. Which made Jimin blush even more. “Yes, I am. Hello!” He bowed, and went back into holding Jimin’s waist. The others were all smiling brightly, indeed happy about the outcome of Jimin’s known backstory with him. “Take a seat. You are the youngest, so you don’t need to buy anything!” Jin quickly chimed in, while pointing at the free seats next to Taehyung and Jess who were both laughing uncontrollably. Gosh how he hated his best friends sometimes. “So you are Jimin’s boyfriend?” Yoongi dropped the bomb as soon as they were taking a seat and Jimin wished he didn’t choose to come. It must’ve been so uncomfortable to Jungkook.
Because it sure as hell was for him. Besides, both of them didn’t really talk about being officially together, what made the situation way more awkward. “Yes. I am. As long as Jimin is content with that decision?” He quickly looked at Jimin who was shocked. Here was dominant boyfriend Jungkook again. Jimin felt how his cheeks were burning. He just nodded. Not knowing how else to reply with. The black-haired boy was now freely putting his arm around his now “boyfriend”. It felt surreal to be called that way. And even though it wasn’t really romantic how he asked him, it still felt amazing that he did it in front of his friends. The closest people to him. He wasn’t even doubting this question one bit. “Ah okay. That’s nice to hear.” Yoongi responded softly, while still keeping his eyes on Jungkook. He was protective of Jimin, everybody knew that. However, something about Yoongi looking at Jungkook that way, made everyone accept Jungkook even more: Yoongi smiled. He smiled while looking at the youngest of the batch, accepting it fully. As long as Yoongi was accepting of someone, everybody else in their group of friends trusted that person as well.
Kind of like the mom of group. The couple of hours they all spent together was magical. It felt like Jungkook always was a part of the group, his humor was the same kind as that from the group and even Taehyung was happily accepting him as a member of their little squad. Jimin and Jungkook were also the only ones who denied any alcohol. They both were already intoxicated of this beautiful relaxing night, that they didn’t need any of it. Who thought it could be that easy? Jimin definitely didn’t. A couple of weeks ago, he wouldn’t have thought in a million dreams that Jungkook would sit right next to him, an arm around him, kissing him and asking him if he was alright, while all of his friends were present. It was like a fever dream. Just entirely positive. “I think it’s time for us to go. Thank you guys for today.” Jimin openly said to the little group, some already highly drunk while others were nodding happily back. He waved them all goodbye and before he could leave for good, along with Jungkook, there was a hand on his shoulder making him stop. “Hey, wait a minute.” It was Taehyung. “I just wanted to say how happy I am, that you guys met up again. There is nothing as precious as loving and being loved. But never forget…!” His gaze now hit Jungkook, who was severly confused. “If you ever manage to hurt my baby boy here…!” Taehyung, heavily tipsy, laid his head on Jimin’s shoulder, while pointing at Jungkook. Giving him a clear warning. Of course this was absolutely cute and of course no bad feelings were intended. It made the couple chuckle and they both gave him a goodbye hug before they left. On their way to Jimin’s apartment, hand in hand, the older realised what actually happened today. Also in what kind of head space he also was. It wasn’t perfect, here and there he still tried to control his anxiety but he felt better, he felt hopeful. They both talked for a while, after arriving at Jimin’s little home and continued to giggle about the response Jimin’s friends gave them. The butterflies that once annoyed Jimin when he thought of Jungkook, were now fluttering inside his stomach again. Now, however, he was accepting it. Completely intoxicated by love, for once he welcomed the future that was awaiting him. * The next morning started like the day before. The sunlight was dancing once again on Jimin’s face, welcoming him for today. He opened his eyes, trying to cover his eyes with his small little hand. Next to him, his boyfriend. Still sleeping peacefully, eyes twitching here and there. “Kook-ah..” Jimin softly whispered while kissing him all over his face. Covering him, with tiny little smooches.
“Hmmm..”
There was not really a response, but Jimin smiled whatsoever. He loved sleepy Kookie. He was even more adorable in this state.
“I love you. I love you. I love you.” He said like a mantra, finally making Kook respond with the biggest smile. “Say it once more!” Jimin shook his head, acting like he was angry, ready to jump off the bed. “Hey, say it again..!” Kook quickly grabbed Jimin by his waist dragging him back to bed, kissing him directly on the lips. “You are the only one that tastes still so sweet in the morning, how are you doing that?” Jimin chuckled while kissing him right back.
There are so many obstacles that are awaiting me…
The anxiety will maybe never leave me…
And the uncertain feelings about the future will probably continue to haunt me…
I have a long way to go… But with you it seems like a quick walk to the store…

what are some of your favourite exo ships & why? it’s always interesting to hear other people’s perspectives ^-^
Thanks for the ask! I’m not sure if this was related to the ask game I reblogged recently but in any case, thank you for the opportunity to ramble haha. I am a filthy multishipper, so this list is going to be quite long.
Yixing and Junmyeon are my favourite members, so a lot of my pairings include them.
Xiuho: Junmyeon is high strung and he takes his responsibility very seriously, and Minseok is the only person in Exo who he can trust to take the reins, because Minseok is his only hyung in the group. Though Minseok is technically Junmyeon’s hyung, I remember reading that Junmyeon is quite close with a lot of people born in 1990, so the formalities are often dropped. So there’s this weird relationship between Junmyeon and Minseok where sometimes Junmyeon is Minseok’s leader, sometimes they act like same age friends, and sometimes Minseok is Junmyeon’s hyung. But overall, I think Junmyeon feels a little more casual with Minseok because there are times when he can trust Minseok to take the lead as the hyung. Conclusion: Junmyeon gets to be baby or bro around Minseok instead of having to be leader all the time. And because Minseok is not only hyung but chill hyung, he calms Junmyeon down sometimes.
Seho: In the early days of Exo, Junmyeon was trying really hard to be the cool hyung, being nice to them, paying for their food, giving them affection, etc. He just wanted so badly for them to like him and think he was cool. I’m obsessed with the idea that Sehun has always quietly acknowledged all that Junmyeon did for him. Their relationship has always been Junmyeon looking out for Sehun and protecting him, and Sehun accepting that care. Even now, their relationship is like this, because Sehun has always been receptive to Junmyeon’s love. Conclusion: Junmyeon just wanted to be liked, and Sehun is saying “I see everything that you have done, and indeed I like you.” I feel so overcome with emotion whenever Sehun shows an ounce of love or affection for Junmyeon, because it’s usually Junmyeon who’s projecting his love for Sehun to the world.
Subaek: Both Junmyeon and Baekhyun have very tight idol personas. When they are on screen, they are ON. While they are both acting as idols, they are also aware that the other is also acting as an idol. It’s a double layer of understanding that intrigues me. When Baekhyun is being annoying and Suho is playing along with him, Suho knows that Baekhyun is just playing it up for the camera, and Baekhyun knows that Suho is too. I am very intrigued about what they’re like behind the scenes. It’s very much theoretical, but shipping has never been about canon. Conclusion: I’m intrigued by what Subaek are like when they are unmasked and no longer need to perform. How do they convince each other that it’s okay to let down their guard around each other?
Kyungmyeon: As I mentioned, Junmyeon just wants the dongsaengs to think he’s cool, but Kyungsoo is literally the toughest customer on the planet. I get the sense that he barely reacts to Junmyeon’s attempts at caring for him. There are so many clips of Junmyeon trying to play with Kyungsoo and Kyungsoo’s having none of it. So what happens when one day, Kyungsoo finally reacts to Junmyeon’s attempts at befriending him? Conclusion: Junmyeon keeps giving and giving and now he gets to receive.
Sulay: I feel like Junmyeon and Yixing feel truly relaxed with each other because they are close in age. I think Junmyeon takes age hierarchies seriously (though it gets blurry with the 90ers). I also think he is relaxed with Yixing because Yixing himself is a chill guy. Yixing takes music and dancing seriously, and he’s whatever about everything else. So Yixing balances Junmyeon out. There has also unfortunately been a distance between Yixing and the other Exos, since he’s the only Chinese member, but I get the sense that Junmyeon makes an effort to reach out to Yixing, and he is receptive to that, he sees that Junmyeon is trying to be nice to him, and he appreciates it and returns it in his own Yixing way. Conclusion: Junmyeon has no chill about everything, whereas Yixing is chill about everything except for music and dance, and they balance each other out. Also they are very soft with each other and their clumsy flirting makes me squeal. I love how Yixing went from calling him Suho-hyung to Junmyeon-ah~
Chanxing: They were the first Yixing ship I really obsessed over, and frankly I think my initial obsession with them was kind of shallow. Basically, it was just because I liked Yixing and I thought Chanyeol was hot lmfao. But there is for sure a charm to their relationship. Like I said, there is a bit a difference between Yixing and the Korean members. Chanyeol can bridge that gap through being a jokester. Yixing plays along because he’s a simple guy, he’s not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. If Chanyeol is extending funtimes to him, he will accept, even if he doesn’t totally get it. Conclusion: I like them because Chanyeol will use his jokey jokes to get Yixing to loosen up.
Kaixing: I only got into them recently, so my thoughts on them aren’t fully formed. Jongin is very sensitive to others. Yixing is quiet and doesn’t really talk much about himself. So I love the idea of Jongin sensing that Yixing isn’t saying something, and if it’s something bad, he’ll try to reach out and help him. Conclusion: Jongin is a good boy and notices when Yixing is not alright uwu. Flashbacks to that fanmeet in 2015 where Yixing was crying and had to turn his chair away and Jongin stroked his back (with Junmyeon T_T)
Baekchen: Baekhyun and Jongdae are very different kinds of celebrities. Baekhyun fully leans into the fanservice whereas Jongdae didn’t even want to be an idol to begin with. But it interests me how they make an exception for each other. Jongdae will indulge Baekhyun and Baekhyun will tone himself down a bit to match Jongdae. Even though I think Baekhyun plays up his hyper personality for his idol persona, I think that it comes from some truth, that in real life he is probably a relatively peppy and optimistic guy, whereas Jongdae is more of the typical conservative man. I think their shared history is fun too. how they auditioned together and made it to Exo together. It’s nowhere near a childhood friends story, but they have a little bit of past history that propelled them through their early years, especially since they had such a short training period. Conclusion: I’m interested in how two such different people can fit together so well. We saw in the early years of Exo how affectionate they were with one another. It’s changed as they’ve grown older, but I think their feelings are sitll there.
I’m going to throw in some ex-member pairings because I do quite like them.
Laytao: WYF and Lu Han left Exo because they didn’t want to be there anymore, okay, fine. But Yixing and Zitao wanted to stay. From what I’ve read, Zitao had only left because he was forced to work through his injury and his dad told him to leave. But I’m just imagining what it must’ve been like during OT10 era. Did Yixing and Zitao support each other? Yixing is a calm guy, and Zitao is the opposite, very fiery and dramatic. How do they fit together? Though Yixing is calm, he isn’t totally clueless, and Zitao is actually rather sensitive. Conclusion: How do they support each other when they feel they’ve been abandoned? They are very different, but they share something in common in a land where they’re the outsiders. Does that mean anything to them?
Kailu: Admittedly, the support for this ship is weak, but I read a few fics with this pairing and I am a fan. Basically, in Kailu fics, I think they’re more of a power couple. Lu Han is good looking and smart, and Jongin is confident and striking. I was digging through old forum discussions the other day, and I actually think this ship came about because fans thought they looked good together, despite their lack of canon interactions.
(I also used to be a big fan of Fanxing. For obvious reasons, I am not into them anymore. Admitedly the fictional version of WYF was very interesting to read about.)
There are also a LOT of ships that I am cool with, such as Layhan, Sukai, Sekai, and Hunlay.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading!

Tumblr media
“I mean, Baekhyun is cute and all, but I don’t know why you like like him that much if you haven’t even had a proper conversation with him,” Sehun explains as he takes a sip of his orange juice. “It seems kind of... farfetched, you know?” You roll your eyes as you take a bite of your sandwich. “Don’t be a drama queen.”
“I mean! Why don’t you like someone like...” he taps his chin in thought, fork stabbing through the lettuce leaves before he looks back to you, signature smirk in place. “Jongdae.”
You choke on the food.
“He’s pretty cute. And he’s really nice too. He’s even on the baseball team with Baekhyun and you guys seem to get along well. It’s a win-win situation.”
You shrug. “He’s cool, but he’s just a friend. And since when do you care about my love life?”
“Nonexistent love life,” he snarkily corrects and you stick your tongue at him.
“And you’re some best friend. Totally supporting me in my silent love affair.”
“I’m being realistic,” he defends, shrugging.
“And a horrible best friend,” you retort, grimly.
“Maybe you’re just going through this phase—” he starts.
“Okay, look,” you interject, dropping your sandwich on the table. “I have a crush on one of the star players of our college’s team. That just makes me one of the many of the girls fantasizing to be her. That’s all it is. Don’t worry, I’m not gonna throw myself at him and forget who I actually am or some stupid shit like that.” You narrow your eyes at him and pick up your sandwich. “Period.” And then you take a bite.
Sehun drops his fork in his bowl, the clatter ringing even through all the chatter in the cafe. “Wow, Y/N.”
“What?” you bark, bread in mouth, so it sounds more like ‘mwa.’ Even if Sehun is monotone in basically everything that comes out of his stupid mouth, you can hear the smirk.
He shakes his head. “Nevermind. But... since we’re already on this road. You know Park Chanyeol.”
You nod and swallow. “Yeah. Why?”
“Well, he gave me two tickets to his game since Mina and I were gonna go, but you know...” he trailed off and you look at him. He just broke up again with Mina. His now ex. They have an on and off relationship. You don’t really get it.
“I dunno,” you say, eyes flitting from the table to his face. You didn’t want him to go alone, sure, but more often than not, when he takes you to these kind of things, he usually gets sidetracked and well, forgets about you.
“Oh, come on, I won’t leave you this time, I swear,” he says, fist slamming the table.
“Sehun,” you breathe, talking to him as if he was a child. “You said that last time for that basketball guy’s party. And do you remember what happened then?”
His eyebrows furrowed and lips pursed. Apparently your best friend has horrible memory as well.
“You went home with Mina, asshole,” you spit. “And yes, you are my bestfriend and deserve the best romantic life, but you can’t just leave me. Jeez, you’re heartless, Sehun.”
“I won’t leave you this time,” he pleads once more, puppy eyes now in place, hands placed together under his chin. “Please, noona?”
You stick your tongue out at him and continue with your sandwich.
“Oh, come on, I want to go with my bestest friend in the world, and not anyone else. And we’ll have so much fun and I won’t even leave your side, or anything, and as a bonus! I will personally get you a jersey as an added bonus with a certain Byun printed on the back.”
Your eyes flicked to his for a split second at the sound of a certain man’s name.
“I can even arrange a chance at the after party for the two of us, so you can have some even more fun. There’s gonna be free drinks too!” he tries.
You raise an eyebrow at this offer.
“Free food, too!” he chimes.
“We’ll see,” is your final answer.
His straight posture is slumped at your answer, pout adorning his face as he dejectedly looked at his salad that was a part of his so-called, healthy diet, that he put together himself. His eyes flicked to yours as you took another bite of your BLT.
You waved it at him. “Want some?”
He looks back to his salad before dropping his fork and stretching his hand out. You hand the sandwich to him and he takes a few bites before giving it back to you.
The rest of lunch is spent in light banter, talk about classes and upcoming finals.
The two of you have been close since the start of college after there was a mix up in the dorm distribution and you ended up in the only co-ed dorm in college. With a playboy of course. You would think you’d somehow fall in love with him, but the boy being two years your dongsaeng, the spark was never there. He became a little brother figure who you could bully whenever he came over to you to gush about his new girlfriend at how pretty she is. It’s cute enough to pinch his cheeks like you were a distant relative who claimed to used to change Sehun’s diapers. He hated it, which is exactly why you loved it.
He doesn’t bring up the game until you see Byun Baekhyun walk through the cafe doors. You being the shy person that you are, immediately duck your head and finish the rest of your sandwich in one bite, and stand up announcing your departure to Sehun.
“What? I’m not finished yet, wait another minute. We’ll go together.”
“Uh, I actually forgot I’ve got to meet a friend before class starts,” you explain, twisting and untwisting your fingers, eyes locked on Baekhyun’s figure that was currently walking towards you and Sehun’s table, which was conveniently in front of the register.
Sehun looks at you, nose scrunched then looking somewhere behind you, and then it dawned on him, your predicament. “Oh,” he breathes.
And Sehun being the asshole he is calls Byun Baekhyun over. You never wanted more for the ground to open up and swallow you whole than at this moment.
“Hey, Sehun, what’s up?” Baekhyun says, his honey voice rolling over you in waves. You couldn’t leave due to the iron grip Sehun had on your wrist, caging you and erasing all attempts of escape.
“Hey, hyung. I just needed an opinion. Do you know, Y/N?” Sehun nods to you and you freeze as Baekhyun finally sees you. You hold your breath, waiting for the answer on the tips of your toes even though you were the one who didn’t want it.
His eyes lock with yours and you see the warmth even standing nowhere close to him. You see the small mole on top of his lip, the bridge of his nose, the cherry pink of his lips and all you can think is how he hasn’t changed one bit.
His eyes flit down to your wrist in Sehun’s hand and you quickly pull it away. Sehun doesn’t hold you back. And then he’s looking away as fast as he saw you, and you miss the warmth that he brought with just a look but you’re glad for the lack of his fierce gaze on you alone.
He hums. “Yeah, I know Y/N. We went to the same middle school but you probably already know that,” he states matter of factly. You purse your lips. Sehun didn’t know that.
Sehun’s jaw goes slack. “Wait, what?” He turns to you, eyes narrowed. “You never told me that!”
“Uhhh—” you dumbly respond as Baekhyun looks between the two of you.
“Right, I just wanted to know,” Sehun clears his throat, grasping Baekhyun’s attention once again, “if we could come to the party after the game?”
“Oh, you’re coming to the game?” He poses the question towards the both of you, but he only looks at you.
“Well, I’m going, but Y/N doesn’t know yet—”
“You should come,” Baekhyun states simply, looking into the depths of your soul. Your heart beats just the tiniest bit faster.
“I’ll see,” you mutter under your breath.
“Well, I’ll see you guys later then?” Baekhyun waves, the corner of his lips raised, and eyes sparkling in a way that only fits Baekhyun.
Sehun’s arm falls on your shoulder as he rises to his full height, effectively breaking you out of the haze that Baekhyun put on you unknowingly. You scowl at him as you grab your backpack.
“How come you never told me this precious piece of information that came from Baekhyun himself. I’m so disappointed in you,” he remarks as you exit the cafe. You dare not look back.
You shrug, a small shiver running up your spine from the breeze. “It never came up.”
“Bullshit. This stuff is already supposed to be established in our,” he motions exasperatedly in the space between the two of you, “relationship.”
You snort. “I’m not dating you.”
“We’re best friends!”
“That we are,” you deadpan.
“Were you guys only classmates?” he inquires, shoving his hands in his pockets and blowing out a breath.
“If you’re asking if we dated, no. But we were friends, I guess.”
An understatement but you don’t say.
Starting middle school in a whole new city was overwhelming to say the least. Having just moved to Seoul was already climbing in on itself over you. The whole car ride you refused to meet your parent’s eye on the trip to your new house. They pointed out famous landmarks and beautiful scenery of the ocean on the way, and yet, you refused, the stubborn 11-year old side of you coming out, as you blinked the tears away, never letting them fall.
And then came Baekhyun, a whirlwind of a boy, all smiling, eyes crescents, and hair a raven-colored ruffled. He flew into your life and you were grateful to him. He suddenly became a staple in your life but really you should’ve seen it coming sooner.
As fast as he entered, he left, and you didn’t like to think about whether it was your fault or his. One day, he stopped trying. Avoiding you, or maybe he just became too busy for you. He grew out of the pre-teen Baekhyun, a child in and of itself and became the popular teen Baekhyun who suddenly became the star of your junior high. You drifted apart, as Baekhyun entered the spotlight and you steered towards the sidelines, suddenly becoming a wallflower in Baekhyun’s life. And then you weren’t in it anymore. But you watched him grow up and everytime you passed him in the hallways in highschool and eventually college, a part of your heart clenched, happy that he was happy and sad because you couldn’t share that happiness with him.
Sehun saw the lingering glances, the almost spoken hello’s to the star player and deemed that you had a crush. He wasn’t wrong so you never corrected him.
“Earth to Y/N?” Sehun called, hand waving in front of your vision. You blinked, slowly turning over to him. “Blanked out there, for a little. You good?”
“Oh, um, yeah. Just thinking.”
“About a Byun Baekhyun?”
“Shut up,” you mumble and he snickers.
A few beats of silence pass as you walk side to side, shoulders brushing against each other.
“You’re not telling me something,” he says.
“No,” you respond.
“Yes,” he retorts.
“Whatever you say.”
“I’ll get it out of you, sometime. I already have a lead.”
“What? Are you Sherlock?” you tease, lips quirked.
He slides in front of you and you stop watching as he dumbly salutes, fingers all crooked. “Holmes, reporting for duty,” he announces.
You laugh and then he smiles.
Tumblr media
Most of the spots are filled when you enter the auditorium, a mess of hair, clothes and Y/N.
You spit out some of the hair caught in your mouth, which probably happened somewhere between where you left the pet store, your part-time job, in a hurry after seeing the time and from now, where you stood, just barely making it into class as the professor entered through the adjacent door . You got a little carried away with the new puppers that had just arrived and that was all your fault. Not that you regretted it, though.
The professor set up his laptop, plugging in wires and setting papers aside, that you really hoped weren’t of the test you took last week. You scrambled to your regular seat, right next to the TA, Kim Minseok’s desk, and next to Kim Jongdae.
You dipped your head in greeting at Jongdae as you slipped past him to the seat and muttered your ‘hello’ to Minseok who waved you back.
“Please don’t tell me those are our tests from last week,” you say to absolutely no one.
Jongdae, from beside you, hears this and turns to you. “Those are totally not our tests from last week.”
“Those are totally your tests from last week,” Minseok pipes from the other side of you. You swivel towards him, lips pursed, frown in place.
“Is it bad?” you ask, grimly.
“Can’t say,” he grins.
“A hint?” you egg and Jongdae echoes your question.
Minseok shakes his head no and points towards the front just as the professor starts speaking. You melt into your seat, hoping that time would tick just the tiniest bit faster, if only to finish this hell you’re in.
45 minutes pass, not that you’re counting every second of it but you just happen to see after sneaking a glance at the clock hung on the opposite wall, when the professor finally announces the very dreadful thing that has you in a slump.
“And now for your tests!”
A series of groans echo your sentiments and you wait as he calls out the names of the other students, fists clenched, nails digging into the skin of your palm. He goes through a few people before stopping on the nervous human sitting right next to you.
“Kim Jongdae!” he calls and you give a pitiful look at Jongdae as he stands up to retrieve it. His face looks almost like a kicked puppy. The professor hands him the paper, says something, that you can’t hear (distance), or read (bad eyesight), but there’s a smile on his face. You sit at the edge of your seat waiting as Jongdae gets closer to you, his eyes lighting up as he reads the grade and when he comes to stand next to you, showing it to you, a cheshire-grin stretching across his lips.
Your jaw drops. “An A? That’s amazing!” He has his hand out towards yours and you high-five it, smiling for him. You sit back down waiting your turn, back straight, hairs raised.
“Y/N!”
You get up, walking as fast as your legs could take you, grasping the paper with eager hands. The professor smiles and says that it was better than your last and then your walking back, not daring to peak at the letter.
“Did you see it?” Jongdae calls when you get back to your seat.
You shake your head. “Can’t. You do it.”
You hand the paper to Jongdae and he chuckles leaning over. He faces the paper towards you, back slanting so he’s looking at it as well.
“A B!” you cry.
“An 89!” he exclaims.
“If you round up,” you start excitedly.
“An A!” he finishes.
“Yes!” you yell, fist pumping in the air and once again before exchanging another set of high-fives.
The two of you sit back at your seats ruffling through your tests exchanging answers for the questions you got wrong. The teacher rambles on about how well you all did this time, much better than the last. You paid it no attention, though, wincing as you saw another question you got wrong. You even remember studying about that one!
“Okay, students!” the teacher finally announces and you look up, setting the paper down on the table. “You’ll be doing a project—”
A series of groans cut him off.
“Now, now don’t be like that. It gets even better; you’ll be doing it in partners! The person next to you should do—oh! Would you look at the time? I better be off! Class dismissed!”
The screeching of chairs being pushed in, the mull of the chatter of students, and the scratching of pencils on paper fill the silence that the teacher brought and you stared at Jongdae, dumbfounded. And Jongdae stared at you.
“Is this real?” you breathed, voice ragged.
“I really hope not,” he answers back. “Maybe it's all just a dream.”
“More so a nightmare,” you remark.
Minseok snickers at the two of you. “Don’t be dramatic and get out of here, you two.”
You frown at Minseok as he shoots you out of the auditorium with the rest of the lingering students. You handle your bag, throwing it over your shoulder, carelessly, before turning to Jongdae who walked to your side with another classmate.
You wait for a gap in their conversation before pulling Jongdae away. “Do you have class right now?”
He shakes his head. “No, you?”
You mirror him, before cocking your thumb behind you, head tilted. “Library?”
“Better now than never,” he grins.
Jongdae steps off to the side when someone asks him something about plans on Friday night. You tell him you’ll save him a seat and wave before leaving, begrudgingly thinking about the fact that you wished to have plans on Friday night, ugh.
The library is vacant, spare the few students like you who thought to actually use it other than the librarian that no one ever sees. You tensely smile at a girl who you really can’t remember the name of but told her that one time in that one class after she made eye contact with you. A second later, though, no later, you looked away, wincing because if that wasn’t awkward.
The tables in the library were settled in clusters if you make your way through the library, high shelves of the paperback on your left, and non-fiction on the right. It’s almost like a maze as you enter the space, and really it's no surprise, when you spot ten people. Max.
You take a seat at the nearest empty table, pulling out your textbook and your laptop. It only takes a minute for you to get sidetracked after you tap in your password the already open tab of Twitter pulling you in.
It wasn’t your fault really! The posts kept rolling in and sucking you deeper and when finally your throat felt parched and you took a sip of water, checking the time, still not seeing Jongdae, did you see half an hour had already passed.
“The fuck is the dude, doing?” you mutter under your breath, opening a seperate tab for your email. The chair across from you screeches and you think, finally, before your eyes land on the person currently sat across from you.
His hair was ruffled and the tip of his nose and cheeks were blushing red, as if he ran. And it wasn’t Jongdae.
“Oh,” he mumbles, more to himself. “Y/N.” A deep breath then, “hey.”
“Oh, um, Baekhyun. Hi,” you dumbly respond, stomach flipping at the sight of him. Your tongue had the sudden urge to fail you at the moment, barely making the cut.
“Sorry, to, um, bother your studying,” he starts, eyes flickering to your open screen which displayed the email log-in page. Thank god he did not see your Twitter account. Maybe you would have actually died. “But, uh, I’ll just sit here for a few minutes and then leave.”
The way he’s fidgeting in his seat makes it seem like he’s trying to avoid someone. “Oh, okay. That’s, um, fine?”
His eyes narrow at you as you purse your lips. Awkward. You are very awkward and you know that. You shuffle in your seat when he looks away and chuckles silently. “Thanks,” he says.
A few beats pass before you deem it awkward enough to drag your laptop closer to you, and look through the few emails that were unread in your inbox. Okay, lie. You weren’t actually reading. It was more so that your eyes skimmed over the same from email at fifteen times, your brain not registering the contact.
Baekhyun apparently decided to break the ice, starting with a deep breath. “So, what class are you working for?”
“Um, microbiology. I’ve got this partner essay and decided to get started on it,” you explain, biting your lip from a nervousness that you’re not sure the cause of.
“Partner?” he asks.
“Yeah... partner,” you repeat, thinking that he needed clarification.
“Oh, are you waiting for them?”
You nod. “He was literally right behind me too, jeez, what is he doing?” you ramble, picking up your phone and searching for Jongdae’s contacts.
Baekhyun doesn’t say anything else as you type a text to a certain essay partner.
jongdae!!!!
You set the phone back down on the table and sneak a peek at Baekhyun who looks, even at a first glance, stressed. Eye circles ring underneath his eyes, the hint of purple tinting his fair skin. His eyes look puffy, like he just took a nap, even though it's the middle of the day, and your heart clenches at the thought that he doesn’t get enough sleep. You notice the way his fingers drum silently along the table, his teeth worrying his chapped lips, like he’s always doing that. Maybe a habit...?
“Are you... okay?” The question comes tumbling out of your mouth in a hushed whisper, like some dirty secret that can’t be revealed. Your eyes rake over him with worry as he looks at you like a deer caught in the headlights.
He’s wary, his mouth opening and closing repeatedly as he forms an answer. “What do you mean?” he finally responds. Answering a question with a question.
“You look tired,” you point, motioning to the undersides of his eyes.
He winces, hands fisted as he rubs his eyes, laughing half-heartedly. “It’s nothing. Just got a big game to prep for—speaking of,” and then his eyes turn to you, determined, fiery, fist placed on the table and any sign of tiredness in his eyes vanished. “Are you going to come to the game?”
“Uh—”
“You’re going to the game?”
Your head whips towards the side as Jongdae strolls in to the area, nonchalant. You take your pen and whip it at him with all the aim you could muster at such a short notice.
“I’m sorry!” he yells as he catches the pen and holds it to his heart before gently setting it down on the table a distance away from your hand.
“Thirty minutes,” you huff, as Jongdae takes a seat beside you. His attention turns toward Baekhyun who looks between the two of you. You can’t tell what the furrow of his brows or the scrunch of his nose conveys.
Jongdae ignores your complaint and addresses Baekhyun. You turn away pointedly, hands crossed over your chest, lip slightly jutted.
“What are you doing in the library, Baekhyun?” Jongdae questions.
“Um, just, you know, talking to Y/N—”
“Is that Eunha?” Jongdae interjects, leaning over the table, jaw dropped.
“Who?” you ask, curious.
“Yeah, who?” Baekhyun repeats, feigning innocence. You see the way, he blinks at Jongdae owlishly, and his straight posture.
“Your ex-girlfriend, Eunha! Is that why—”
Baekhyun’s over at Jongdae’s side in an instant, hand clamping over the blabbermouth’s mouth, looking around the library maniacally to see if anyone overheard. You choke, not sure what to feel about the new information, but when she leaves out of view, you figure it's her since she is the only one there that wasn’t there a moment ago. You look towards the two idiots at your side.
And if that wasn’t any worse, Eunha suddenly reappeared again right in front of you three. And she looked Baekhyun up and down, and then it was Jongdae. And lastly you.
With her sleek black hair sectioned off into braids, her makeup flawless, and her clothes without a single crinkle in them, you envied her from head to toe.
“Baekhyun what are you doing? Really? Running away?” She gives Baekhyun an incredulous look as he retracts his hand from Jongdae’s mouth, sheepish look pasted on his face.
“Um, actually—” he starts.
“Seriously, I just wanted to talk. I won’t bite,” she promises taking a step closer. You see Baekhyun’s eyes flit to anywhere but Eunha, and then you see him take a step closer to Jongdae, his hand suddenly coming down onto Jongdae’s shoulder. Hard.
“I’m dating Jongdae!”
Eunha’s jaw drops open, you choke on air, Jongdae shrieks and falls out of his chair, and Baekhyun colors a scarlet in the next few moments as crickets chirp through the library.
“What?” Eunha breathes, looking as if she just got slapped in the face. And in this case, you felt that it would have been a better situation. “You’re dating—” she stopped mid-sentence, closing her eyes, straightening her back, and taking a long, deep breath. “Jongdae? Is he lying?”
You watch as Baekhyun pinches Jongdae’s back as he opens his mouth, and proceeds to say the words that you are just dying to hear with some popcorn in hand. “Uh... no.”
Eunha’s eyes are almost about to fall out her head as she looks between the two of them. Baekhyun laughs a small laugh, pressing his index finger to his lips, and shushing Eunha. She barks a laugh, hikes her bag up her shoulder, and stomps out of the clearing.
Jongdae’s chair is thrown to the side courtesy his legs as he stands, towering over Baekhyun. “What the fuck—”
Baekhyun claps his hands together in front of his face, eyes clenched together. “I’ll make it up to you, I promise!” he squeaks.
“I should’ve just let you suffer—”
“—and I am so, so grateful you didn’t—”
“—in pain. Why the hell do I—”
“Coffee, for a month?” Baekhyun pleads.
Jongdae narrows his eyes at Baekhyun. “Two.”
“One and a half?”
“One and three weeks.”
“Okay, okay,” he surrenders, plopping into the chair next to you before turning to meet your eyes. “I am so dead.”
You smile. “I didn’t know you were gay.”
“Y/N!” he whines. “You know what? I am leaving, I have had way too much drama for today, and I feel my wrinkles popping out, god dammit.”
He walks away from the table as you erupt into snickers and Jongdae hollers an ‘8:45 AM sharp!’ after him.
“Don’t be late! I have class first thing and need my supply!”
Baekhyun doesn’t turn around, opting to flip off Jongdae, back still turned. Jongdae swears at him, and you laugh even harder.
What you don’t see is the small smile gracing Baekhyun’s lips as he exits the library doors, a little skip in his step.

Having to take an advanced sociology class for your major made absolutely no sense other than the fact that the people, whoever they were, that assigned the classes, were absolute idiots. You would know since you’re always surrounded by them.
The class ran for two terms but you only needed one, joining in at the beginning of the second this year. Everyone already had managed to find a place to sit, some people to work with, and a nice view of the screen in front of the room. You just wedged into some seats with some of the more friendlier looking girls and somehow managed to blend in to the wall, only needing a passing grade for this class.
You didn’t know many people in this class, but you at least recognized their faces. And that guy sitting at your desk with the suspicious looking hood was not one of them. You stood a few feet away from him, wondering if you should demand your seat back or just sit next to him. Or in front.
But that’s your seat.
Well. Your inability to communicate with people caught up to you and you took a seat right next to him.
It wasn’t until the end of class that you figured out who he was. You could hear a faint purr from the hooded boy next to you, his pencil strewn next to his head that was lain on the table carelessly. A string of drool marked the paper and you chuckled. But you couldn’t judge. That would be you today if it weren’t for the fact he was giving apparently important information from the girl on your right.
You pondered on the thought if you should just leave him, but if class had finished while you were sleeping you would want someone to wake you up. What if he had a class after this?
You drew closer to him and tapped his shoulder. “Hey. Wake up. Class is over.”
The boy groaned, shifted in his seat the tiniest bit, and continued sleeping. You tapped him a bit harder this time. “Hey. Hey. Wake up.”
You checked the time on your phone, before placing it back on the table. Taking your time, you placed your notebook back in your bag and zipped it up before tossing a look back to the boy. Still sleeping. The pencil and pen in your bag as well. Another look. Not even a little.
Boy, was this kid tired.
You tried again, and again, with even more force and smiled when the guy stirred, blinking his eyes, movements hazy. He smacked his lips a few times before finally moving his head up and locking eyes with you.
“Baekhyun?”
“Y/N?”
“You take this class?” you both said in unison.
A look passed between the two of you, as you blinked and he started giggling with you following shortly after.
“I take this class, but I’m pretty sure you don’t,” you finally say, smile placed on your lips.
“I owed my friend one and filled in for the day to take some notes.”
You snickered before motioning to the side of your face, your fingers ghosting your skin. “You have drool here.”
“What?” he squawks, hands wiping the opposite side of his face.
You shake your head. “Other side.”
He pulls the sleeve of his hoodie up and finding the drool, quickly wiping it off before embarrassingly pulling his hoodie on his head tighter.
“What’s with the get up?” you question, as Baekhyun grabs his notebook and you grab your backpack, both walking towards the door.
A group of students brush passed you and you notice how Baekhyun makes sure to duck his head down as he whispers to you. “You didn’t hear...?”
“Hear what? you whisper back.
He pouts at you and you shrug. “The rumors?” he tries again.
You filter through any gossip Sehun might’ve told you about in the past few days and come up blank. “Nothing,” you state.
He groans, hand coming up to slide down his face. “Come on, man. The rumors?” he harshly whispers, face turned towards you whilst walking, hands outstretched at his sides, and eyes blown out.
You suck in a harsh breath as he comes closer to your face, and that weird feeling in your chest blooms again. Almost like an eruption of lava, but more lowkey. A good volcanic eruption.
“Me being gay?”
He pulls back when he sees your lips pursed, smile begging to be released. “Oh, from when—”
“Oh my god,” he groans, walking faster in front of you.
“Okay, okay, sorry, I won’t laugh!” you exclaim, speeding up your pace and walking next to him. He took a look at the twinkle in your eyes and the smile playing on your lips and huffs before looking away. Drama queen.
“Seriously!” you repeat again. “Okay, wait, wait, slow down a little.”
He begrudgingly complies, hands now folded over his chest as you swing your backpack to your front and bring out your notebook. You zip it up and he sneaks a glance before voicing his curiosity. “What’s that for?”
You shoot him a smile. “Your favor?”
His eyes widen. “Oh shit! I fell asleep!”
“That you did, but I take pity and give you this.”
You hand him the notebook and he takes it, hand almost brushing yours but you can’t tell from how fast its gone even though the aftermath leaves your heart beating a mile a minute. You don’t even notice.
“You are an angel,” he breathes and sends you the most breathtaking smile that you think he could ever send you.
“Your welcome,” you state, voice soft.
“Thank you,” he says back.
You continue walking, where? You don’t know. But you move closer to him as he opens the notebook and you show him the pages that you wrote down today. You stop at a small bench on the side of the hallway where Baekhyun sets it down and takes pictures of the pages.
He slides his glasses up when they fall off his nose, before tapping the screen to make sure that its readable. You watch to the side as he ruffles through the pages make sure he got everything. His bangs falling over his eyes, and he shakes his head, the hair stubbornly staying put.
“Baekhyun!” someone calls from the side. You look over and recognize him to be from the baseball team. You forgot his name, though. Something starting with Jong but you weren’t sure. He jogs over to Baekhyun, talking about a late baseball practice and where the hell he’s been.
Baekhyun looked sheepish as Jong-something scolds him, calling him hyung and you can’t help but smile at the interaction.
“Oh right, that reminds me!” Baekhyun turns towards you suddenly and you feel warm under his and Jong-something’s (Jongin? Is that his name?) gaze. “Are you still not sure about the game?”
You inhale, looking at the way, Baekhyun pulls out his lower lip just the slightest and how it looks adorable (you’re cringing on the inside at your thoughts) on him. “Uh... yeah. Still don’t know,” you mutter.
“Well,” Baekhyun says, looking straight at you and placing his hand on your shoulder, “I hope you come.”
And then he sends you a smile and you feel your heart strings tugging at each other as he turns around, jogging to the rest of the team. Jongdae shoots you a small smile when he sees you and you wave back but then he’s gone.
It’s not until a good twenty minutes later do you remember that Baekhyun didn’t give you your notebook. You rushed back to the bench where you saw it last. It wasn’t there also.
Well, shit. You’re screwed for that test next week.

hey, this is Y/N. i don’t have your number so i’m texting you though sehun’s.
You read over the text and groan. Why would he care if you have his number or not—of course you don’t. Delete.
uhhh, anyways, do you still have that notebook you took pictures of? I can't remember if I took it back or not haha
‘uhhh, anyways’ is too awkward, dammit. Delete that as well.
hey this is Y/N. do you still have my notebook you took pictures of? I can't remember if I took it back or not haha
Okay, okay. Not bad, straight to the point. A little laugh in the end to ease the awkwardness. Hit send, Y/N, before you freak out even more. You press the blue button and thrust the phone back into Sehun’s hand before diving into your pasta. Nothing like food to hit your biggest worries.
“You’re such a coward, worrying about texting him,” Sehun snarks, tapping on the screen.
You glare at him, mouth stuffed, and he glances a look at you, smirking at your appearance. “Ass,” you mutter.
“That’s me.”
The door to the cafe jingles open and it's almost like a fairy tale when your eyes dart to the customer in the almost empty restaurant, with you sitting directly in sight of the door, and lock eyes with Baekhyun.
“Oh, Y/N! Sehun!” he exclaims, waving at the two of you with his signature smile, fingers straight as a stick, gaps wide between them in that weird way he waves at people (he still makes it cute).
You smile a small smile, and Sehun gives a weird ass cool nod that Baekhyun takes a greeting does a weird nod back. He pulls a chair from the empty table next to you, dropping the bag and sitting in the middle, your left, Sehun’s right. His side profile was astonishing.
You looked back to your food, taking another bite, as they engaged in baseball talk, wallowing about whether or not you should bring up the elephant in your room.
Thankfully, Baekhyun, ever the one with many gifts from God, looks towards you abruptly, slamming his hand on the table. You flinch, eyes startled to his, wide in shock, almost mirroring his.
He chuckles and you clamp your lips and relax your posture, eyes drifting away. Well, that’s embarrassing.
“Sorry,” he snickers. “Didn’t mean to scare you.”
“She’s a coward. She’s always scared,” Sehun interjects.
“No one asked you,” you retort, throwing the closest object to you (a napkin) hoping it would hit him straight in the eye (it didn’t; it floated to a stop in the middle of the table).
“Anyways, your notebook. It’s in my locker, I totally forgot to give it back, my bad.” His hand comes up to unconsciously rub at the back of his neck and you inwardly coo at the small pout on his—no! ”If you want, we can go now to the lockers since I have practice. Do you have a class?”
Your mind went blank for some strange reason and the only thing that came out was an “uh...”
Sehun, the sometimes-angel he is, saves you and you are so very grateful. “She doesn’t.”
Baekhyun looks between you and Sehun, an unrecognizable expression on his face, before his lips turn into a smile. “Great!”
He makes small talk while you finish your food, helping Sehun occasionally on the essay he was pumping out. He leaned over Sehun’s shoulder, his glasses slipping down his nose, and his eyebrows scrunched as they glazed over the screen. He’d gotten annoyed from his bangs that he clipped them up exposing his forehead, and—oh god, what is wrong with you.
“Okay!” you announce,  a little too high pitched and chair screeching back at a screech that resonated through the empty shop. You freeze, coughing awkwardly when Baekhyun looks up at you through his circle lenses and Sehun snickers in the back. You chuckle, smile tense, before grabbing your backpack in light speed, fixing your jacket.
You cock your finger back towards the door, and tilt your head. “Sehun are you coming? Let’s go.” Your heart pounds—probably because you made a fool of yourself. Sehun shrugs before packing his stuff, Baekhyun following.
Sehun and Baekhyun, with their longer legs and faster pace, strode in front of you on the too thin sidewalk. You lingered behind sometimes joining in on the conversation but you felt as if you’d interrupt them with all the sporty jock language they were using.
You just decided to stare at Baekhyun. And admire. And daydream about what it would be like to marry and have tiny babies together. But at the moment. Admire.
Even the back of his head was adorable, added to the fact he was wearing the team’s hat and hoodie combined. Really, whoever designed them was genius. Baekhyun looks absolutely swallowed, only the tips of his fingers peeking out from the sweater paws.
“Y/N? Earth to Y/N?” Sehun knocks on your head, and your eyes immediately snap towards his the moment Baekhyun’s eyes meet yours. “Is the back of his head that fascinating?”
“Wh-what? No, what the—” you end up smacking Sehun feeling the nape of your neck warming up and letting your hair curtain over your face on the side that Baekhyun faced towards you.
“Woah, there, no need to get violent, I was just joking,” he intonates the last word, a smirk voiced and you glare up at him hoping your message traveled light years fast. You take back what you said about him being a sometimes-angel. He’s the devil reincarnate.
Baekhyun laughed his small cute laugh like ’hahaha’ and said something about zoning out. You nodded dumbly and continued to trail along with him.
“As I was saying...” Sehun says, hand waving in the air nonchalantly, “Y/N’s just using me as an excuse for leaving her at the game because she’s probably just embarrassed that she doesn’t want to miss the new episode of Extraordinary You—ow! What was that for?”
You smile up at him, lips pursed, words venomous, “what?”
He looks away, pouting muttering how you’re a big fat meanie. Baby.
“Oh Extraordinary You is so good. Are you caught up with all the episodes? I haven’t had time to watch the last two,” Baekhyun comments and your neck snaps as you look up at him.
“Oh, uh...” with the thought that he didn’t find it embarrassing that you spend your free time watching romantic dramas that could never actually happen in real life, you spoke up. “I’m caught up.” You still mentally threw Sehun into the pits of hell where he belonged.
Sehun snorts as Baekhyun hums.
A curious smile peaks over the edges of Baekhyun’s lips as he looks at Sehun. “Why... is it weird or something?”
“No, just, she thinks that she’s uncool to watch dramas twenty-four seven—mmmph—what are you—!”
Your hand stays at Sehun’s side as you smile at Baekhyun. “Just ignore him. He spouts bullshit twenty-four seven,” you give a pointed look towards Sehun at the end.
Baekhyun laughs. “Okay, then.”
“He spouts bullshit twenty-four seven,” Sehun imitates, voice pitches higher.
“I don’t talk like that!”
The walk to the locker rooms aren’t too far, just outside the school campus. It’s only a 10-minute walk from the food court area and you’re there in no time.
Luhan from the baseball team, which you know of from how much he frequents your apartment to hang out with Sehun, stole the younger boy, stating that they’d be back in a minute after stepping out of the locker rooms. You sat on the bench in the middle of the locker rooms while Baekhyun shuffled through his lockers that was packed to the brim.
“I’m not usually this messy,” Baekhyun mumbles as he takes out another bundle of what looks like an old sport jacket. “I’ve just been really busy these days,” he adds.
“It’s fine, take your time,” you commented, twiddling your fingers.
A few boys stepped in to the locker room, and you looked up briefly recognizing their faces but not their names.
“Oh, Baekhyun?” one of them called. “You brought a girl into the locker rooms? You never did that with anyone, even Eunha.” The two at his sides snickered and you watched as Baekhyun’s ears turned red at the implications.
“It’s not like that,” Baekhyun barked as he continued ruffling through his lockers. “They’re idiots, don’t listen to them.”
You chuckle softly. “Okay.”
“Found it!” he grins, spinning it around and holding it out towards you.
“Oh, cool, thanks,” you state, taking the book from him.
“Yeah, but I should be telling you that,” he chuckles. “Why do you use a notebook anyway? Laptops are a thing, you know?”
“Yeah, but I like writing the stuff. It helps me remember everything,” you say, stuffing the notebook into your bag.
Baekhyun hums. “Good point, but the hand cramps are so not worth it.”
You shrug it off. “Whatever, Byun.”
“Hey, Baekhyun! Practice is starting. Your girlfriend can stay if she wants, I already asked coach,” one of the boys called.
Your face warms up at the title, and you’re meek ‘I’m not his girlfriend’ is muted by the raucous of the other boys coming in. Baekhyun sends you a shy smile and shakes his head. “Again, idiots, but you can stay if you want.”
“No, it’s alright,” you breathe, “I have class anyways, so it’s time I go. Can you remind Sehun to buy dinner, and say no chicken, please?”
“Yeah, sure. Isn’t his phone broken or something like that?”
“He’s an idiot also.”
“Looks like everyone on this team is an idiot.”
You hum, thinking over the words, one thought shining brightly in the midst of all the others.
The next thing you say is totally uncalled for and if you were in a less delirious state and not around Byun Baekhyun, it would’ve never escaped your mouth. “You’re not, though. That’s why I l love—”
Baekhyun suddenly frowns and your heart drops. You idiot! Why would you say something like that? What if he—shit. You totally messed up. The whole getting to know him, shit, shit, shit. You totally messed up. He doesn’t have time to respond as one of the boys steals him, shoveling him out of the room, throwing you a beaming smile in compensation. You can’t seem to reciprocate.
The locker room is awfully quiet, now.

It has been exactly one day since you spilled your mouth in front of Baekhyun and it has been exactly one day since you have regretted saying that. You saw him this morning, at the coffee shop down the street. He was just minding his own business, looking through his phone while taking a few sips of his drink here and there when you accidentally bumped into him. Nothing precarious happened, like you fell into his arms or his coffee spilled all over your shirt and he let you wear his spare.
No. You blushed as red as a tomato and stuttered a sorry, before scurrying off like a mouse at the stony gaze pointed directly at you.
Why did you even open your mouth and say something stupid like that? You weren’t an idiot. You knew what was implied with those words, and yet you had to go and say it. You probably ruined the friendship you had slowly progressed with Baekhyun, too. What a stupid person you are.
You walked in to the microbiology class with a huff, no regular coffee in hand as you were far too flummoxed after the run-in with Baekhyun to go back into the cafe. Jongdae had noticed something was off and shared a look with Minseok. The TA shrugged.
You made a small burrow surrounding yourself with first, your books, second, your water bottle, and third, your bag, making a small barrier that you wished would shield you from all the remorse you felt upon yourself. Once the professor had walked in and started the presentation, you pride yourself from behind the wall.
Your motions were robotic as you copied important things from the presentation, highlighted key concepts in your textbook, and answered questions prompted by the professor. But it was as if your mind and body were separate and your soul was nowhere to be found.
At the end of class, the professor had called you and Jongdae up, mentioning something about the project.
You forlornly walked up beside Jongdae, the scuffling of your feet earning another worried stare from the boy.
“Y/N, Jongdae, I just wanted to note that since there’s a new student in the class, and an odd number of people, I would like for him to work with you,” the professor explains.
You nod numbly. Jongdae questions as to who.
“Oh, he actually attend today’s class, I told him to meet me as well… oh, there he is!”
You felt someone sidle next to you and Jongdae shifted to look towards him. “Oh, Baekhyun!”
Your head snapped towards the side, and true to his words, Baekhyun stood to your side, not bothering you a glance. He smiled at Jongdae then at the professor, thanking him.
Jongdae glanced to you, your mouth agape. “Y/N, do you want to come with us?”
“H-huh?” you stutter as you look towards Jongdae. “Sorry, zoned out.”
“Yeah… uh, do you want to come with us for lunch? We’re having pizza,” Jongdae reiterates.
Your eyes flicker towards Baekhyun and sure enough, the cold stare from this morning and the last time you saw him were still there.
“No, I’m fine. Thank you, though,” you say, lips pulled in a tight smile.
“Oh, okay, then. See ya!” Jongdae grins, before turning towards Baekhyun who still stared at you. He nudged Baekhyun’s side. “Let’s go, then.”
His eyes are clouded as he looks at you. You can’t tell what he’s thinking and it makes your skin tingle from all the attention. He finally pulls them away from you and you let out the breath you were unknowingly holding. “Yeah, let’s go.”
What an idiot you are.
Tumblr media
The smell of meat filled the room packed to the brim with college students. Baekhyun sat stuck in the middle of Chanyeol and Jongdae and was somehow appointed to the meat as he got the lowest runs during practice. The room was far too hot, even for Baekhyun and he grabbed the air conditioner remote, setting it at the coolest. The boys burst into raucous laughter at a story that Junmyeon was recalling but Baekhyun couldn’t find it in himself to laugh. He merely blinked as he flipped another piece of samgyeopsal.
His thoughts were running all over the place, like a hurricane. But it was all trained on you.
Like that one time when he’d been coming from his class, he’d somehow spotted you in the midst of the crowd. You yawned, pulling down the hood covering your face and he had to hold back a snort at the way your flyaways stuck up filled with static energy. He started walking towards you, wanting to pet down the hairs but he stopped midway. Why would he want to do that? And he stood there like a fool, in the middle of the courtyard staring as you walked away from him.
He’d seen you so many other times and each time you drew him in to you and he didn’t know what was happening. Why his heart sped up at the sight of you so much, as if it were about to burst out of his chest. Why he had the urge to hug the living daylights out of you at the sight of you, as if you were his lover and he was yours. Why he blushed whenever you complimented him like a lovesick teenage boy.
The not an idiot thing was the last straw. And what followed scared him to the deepest parts of his soul. You couldn’t just go around telling people those kinds of things with that much sincerity and stupid sparkle like you held the sun, stars, and meteorites in your eyes. It made him realize something. This whatever he felt, was different.
It felt like how he used to feel back when he would consider you his best friend in the skip of a beat if anyone asked. It felt like that, but even more. And it scared him.
It was different from anything he felt when he was with any one of his past girlfriends. It was similar but far too different to even be compared. It was much more than that.
Was it friendship? Was it attraction? Could it maybe be… love?
Chanyeol knocked his elbow into Baekhyun’s ribs, lightly. “Baek, the meat’s burning.”
“Shit,” Baekhyun muttered to himself, still in a daze. This could be called love, couldn’t it? He always went on and on about how, all the girls he’s dated, he’s never loved. His heart was never full enough whenever he was around them to even be considered love. But around you—
“Baek,” Chanyeol called more loudly, this time jolting Baekhyun.
Baekhyun snapped his head towards Chanyeol, voice clearer. “Shit.”
“Yes, shit, the meat is burning,” Chanyeol pointed out and it finally registered in Baekhyun’s mind as to where he was.
Baekhyun scrambled to save the meat, hurriedly flipping them, and blowing out a sigh as they were still edible.
“What’s wrong?” Chanyeol breathed, mouth full with meat. He placed a piece in a perilla leaf, adding a tiny dollop of ssamjang and placing it in Baekhyun’s hand.
Baekhyun takes it, mulling over the question. “I don’t know.” He put the wrap in his mouth, slowly chewing. “You know Y/N, right?”
Chanyeol nods, sipping his water and swallowing.
“What do you think about her?”
Chanyeol hums. “She’s nice. Why? Do you like her?”
Baekhyun chokes on the water he’s drinking. “What? Me? Like her?”
Chanyeol shrugs. “You asked me what I thought.”
“But I don’t like her,” he wrongfully states. The way those words fall out of his lips, every word placed in it, feels wrong.
“Didn’t she used to be your friend or something like that?” Chanyeol reasons, eyebrows furrowing.
“Well, yeah, but—”
“Okay, Baekhyun,” Chanyeol interjects, seeing the inner conflict and what exactly Baekhyun was trying to get at here. “I’m going to ask you three questions.”
Baekhyun stares at him, confused. “About what?”
“One.” Chanyeol holds up his index finger, ignoring his question. “Do you like spending time with Y/N?”
Baekhyun blinks but slowly nods. Over the past few weeks where your interactions with him have slowly raised, he realized that whatever time spent with you, whether it was just a few moments, or hours on end, he never despised it. He even sometimes looked forward to it. No matter how cold he acted towards you.
“Two.” Chanyeol pops another finger up. “Do you think she’s pretty?”
“W-what? How is that even… relevant—?”
“Answer the question, Byun.”
Baekhyun bites his lip. “Okay, yeah, she’s pretty, I guess.” This question doesn’t take long for him to answer. When you were little, Baekhyun always figured you were pretty with your blinding smile and sparkly eyes, and as you grow up, your features maturing and becoming more distinct, he’d say you’d become beautiful. In his eyes at least.
Chanyeol claps his hand, a smile spilling over his features. “Close your eyes for a minute.”
Baekhyun complies, albeit hesitantly, just in case this was just some prank and Chanyeol is just sneaking some raw garlic in his wrap. But Chanyeol’s words pull him in.
“You’re standing there, okay?”
Baekhyun imagines this well enough. He stood in the middle of a road that he’s never seen before, alone. He doesn’t know what Chanyeol’s point is but he doesn’t open his eyes just yet, intrigued as to what comes next.
“Y/N is there next to you,” his deep voice continues.
Baekhyun places you right in front of him. You’re standing there how he saw you the last time you crossed paths. Bundled up in an oversized hoodie, and jeans, your go to outfit everytime he sees you. Hair pulled into a low ponytail because as you said, it’s annoying when its down, and it hurts when it’s too high up. And only a touch of lip balm because makeup takes too much time and according to you, doesn’t fit you. He thinks you’d look pretty in anything—wait, no! This is exactly what he’s not supposed to be thinking. However, the butterflies in his stomach start to stir.
“And then she’s leaning closer  and closer…” Chanyeol hums again.
The you behind his eyes, mirrors the actions and he watches, wide eyed as you’re almost nose to nose with him. Your breath fans over his cheeks and you flutter your eyes shut, standing there, waiting. He knows what comes next and his heart aches, his skin tingles, waiting for him to continue. He can’t even pinpoint whatever he’s feeling. He needs to repress it, he knows that he should or else it will just end up absolutely horrible. Baekhyun can’t seem to make a decision. His lips press into a thin line before his body is moving before he can react.
And he’s kissing you.
Baekhyun’s eyes fly open. He’s met with Chanyeol’s trademark grin set in place and a slight rise to his eyebrows. “So? What did you see?”
“We…” Baekhyun voice was barely above a whisper and he felt his skin tingle. That was it wasn’t it? “We kissed.” The butterflies raged and he let them.

Jongdae knows the tension between you and Baekhyun. He can quite literally feel it when he’s in close proximity between the two of you. It’s so thick it suffocates him. But he knows he can fix it. He’s good friends with the both of you and he knows where the two of you went wrong. Baekhyun is scared and running away from his feelings and you are beating yourself over having feelings for him. It’s a never ending cycle and Jongdae just wants it to stop. Which is why he’s strategically planned this last work study to the tiniest detail naming it: Let’s Get Them Together Because Everyone is Fucking Sick of it. The name needs work but the sentiment is still there.
The warmth of the cafe drafts over him as he opens the door, with you following closely behind him. He meets Baekhyun’s eyes for a split second before they immediately go towards you as you hide behind Jongdae like he’s some barrier. He doesn’t appreciate this and would prefer more eye contact between the two of you as to initiate something, so he moves away.
Jongdae reaches the table and hovers, as you take a seat on the edge seeing that Baekhyun took the other. You face each other, but don’t dare to look at one another. The both of you were thoughtful enough to leave a seat for him straight in the middle, so there was that at least.
Operation Let’s Get Them Together because Everyone is Fucking Sick of it is now a go.
“Y/N! Why don’t you show Baekhyun that thing you showed me last night?” Jongdae chimes, smiling. Baekhyun looks questionably between the two of you before focusing his attention on you where you pulled out your laptop and materials. “Would the two of you like anything to drink?” He further questions, inwardly patting himself on the back when the two of you scoot closer together to ‘see’ your screen.
“I’m fine,” you chimed, voice soft. “Thank you.”
“Baekhyun?” Jongdae questions before looking at the cup Baekhyun taps at.
“I’m good too.”
“Alrighty, then!” Jongdae exclaims, clapping his hands together, before narrowing his eyes at you. “Make sure you tell Byunnie here, everything alright? And in detail too!”
Jongdae proceeds to skip off, laughing heartily at the weird stares you probably shared behind his back. Jongdae wasn’t planning on doing anything. Just fueling the spark that already came between the two of you.
Tumblr media
Baekhyun’s eyes have opened into a new dimension and he knows about what’s driving him to act like this towards you. Well of course, he knows, he’s always known but always chose to ignore it. But now, he wants to change. He wants to change but now, he doesn’t know how.
It’s been one week since his talk with Chanyeol and the three of you had met up almost everyday, seeing as you didn’t have much time to cram it all into the last day. He felt his walls breaking around you. A small smile whenever you scrunched your nose at a term you didn’t understand, turning to Jongdae all confused with some tech problem only to find out that it was something stupid—you would turn in to a blushing mess after. Whenever he met eyes with you, you would immediately look away and it made his heart clench.
Sometimes you made yourself so small, he forgot you were even there, letting his walls break down thinking he was only in front of Jongdae. He would then remember that you were present, making eye contact and he would then see the pretty blush you would sport. He’d shut up straight away.
Jongdae had planned to meet at a cafe this time, going out for ice cream later in celebration for finishing. Baekhyun had come far too early, going straight after his last class just in case he came too late—a bad habit of his. And once the two of you arrived together, he’d straightened, ready to get this done and over with. He still didn’t know what was going to happen with the two of you, but has accepted that whatever would happen, would happen. But after that weird encounter with Jongdae, he felt like something was up.
“That was… weird right?” Baekhyun spoke, looking at you.
“Yeah,” you breathed, “totally weird.” You didn’t look him in the eyes as you said this.
There were a few moments of silence that drifted between the two of you, the ambiance of the cafe seeming to make up for the lack of conversation, before you spoke up.
“Did you manage to find the stuff about the stool analysis? That’s what Jongdae was talking about earlier, I guess. He told me about it and I found some stuff just in case you didn’t,” you started shifting your computer towards him.
He leaned over, hoping with the depths of his soul that you couldn’t hear how loud his heart was beating in front of you. You pointed out the parts that you found interesting and the differences between the analysis you’d come up with the days before. Baekhyun hummed, nodding along to everything you were saying, before one point caught his eye. He pointed this out. “This one seems nice to use.”
You grinned, before flipping open your notebook. “Right? I thought so too. I found some additional information about that specimen and compiled them so we could add it to our presentation.” You slid the notebook over to Baekhyun as well, and he had to scoot his chair closer to see.
“If we use this in our presentation...” he started, lifting his head up and locking eyes with yours. His voice faltered.
You were a breath away from him, nose almost brushing into his. He stayed there, frozen, wondering as to what to do in this situation, mind running a mile a minute and yet doing nothing at all. You were the first to move, coughing haphazardly, and leaning away from him, before pulling open a few more tabs saved on your bookmarks.
It would be okay, right? It was just you that his heart was beating for. Baekhyun was just a little too late in realizing that.
Jongdae entered at just the right time and Baekhyun spent the rest of the time, avoiding your eye now and trying his very best to control the beating of his heart.
Night had fallen as they exited out of the cafe. Baekhyun and you both carried a drink, yours being hot chocolate and Baekhyun’s another coffee to keep him awake for the rest of the night. With increased practice for baseball came less time for him to focus on his studies. And he really needed that stable GPA.
“Well, I go this way,” Jongdae states, cocking his thumb to the right. You and Baekhyun turn to look at him, confusedly.
“Isn’t your apartment like right next to mine, though?” you ask, confusedly.
“Well, yes, but I promised to meet someone earlier. Sorry I can’t walk you home, Y/N, and no ice cream,” he apologizes before his eyes brighten up again. “Oh, Baekhyun! Can’t you just walk her home? You’re headed in somewhat the same direction, right?”
Baekhyun scratches the back of his head. “I guess?”
“Great!” Jongdae exclaims before skipping off once again.
“Jongdae is acting really weird today…” you comment and Baekhyun can’t help but nod his head in agreement.
It’s a twenty minute walk from where you are now to your apartment building. Half of the time is spent silent with Baekhyun.
Until you meet Sehun at the crosswalk.
“Oh, Y/N-noona, Baekhyun-hyung!” Sehun calls, and you wave at the familiar face, Baekhyun nodding in greeting. “Didn’t know you were such a gentleman, hyung,” Sehun teases, poking at Baekhyun’s sides. The older man swats at his arm in retaliation sticking his tongue out at the former. You laugh to the side at the two children it feels like you’re walking home.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket, and you pull it out, eyes lighting up at the name.
“Who is it?” Sehun asks, as he slides next to you.
“My mom,” you reply.
The words are falling out of Baekhyun’s lips before he could stop them. “Tell her I said hi.”
You smile. “Okay.”
You pick up the phone, voice soft as you slowly walk in front of the two boys. “Hi, Mom.”
“Yes, yes, I’m good. Oh, by the way, Baekhyun says hello. Yes, the one from next door.”
You look back at Baekhyun. “My mom says hello back and that you should come over some time,” you state. “You don’t have to if you want to, though,” you add as an afterthought.
“I’ll come over if I have some time later,” he tries.
“Sure,” you answer, relaying his words to your mom. Baekhyun can’t help but look endearingly at you from the back.
Sehun brings Baekhyun’s attention on to him, then. “Hyung.”
He looks over, eyes blinking, as he places his hands in his pockets, craving the warmth as a particularly fierce wind drafts through. “What’s up?”
“You like her, don’t you?”
Baekhyun blushes at the sudden confrontation. He thinks about it for a second before replying, not once thinking that it not be true. “Yeah, I do. Why do you ask?”
“She… talked to me earlier about you. Like a few days ago,” Sehun started, voice lowering. The three of you passed the crosswalk and continued on the side of the road. Sehun and Baekhyun lagged the tiniest bit as you walked along unaware of the conversation being shared between the two boys.
“Yeah?”
“She said she said something to you and you just turned cold and it was all her fault. I didn’t push her, but I asked her why she didn’t just play it off and say that she didn’t mean it,” Sehun started, getting straight to the point. Baekhyun waited on the balls of his heels for the answer. “You know what she said?”
Baekhyun shook his head.
“It’s better this way. What if I grow too attached and he just leaves again. I don’t think I can do that.” Sehun looked at Baekhyun gauging him for an answer.
So... that’s how she felt?
Baekhyun didn’t like to think about the period when you stopped being friends. He thought it would be better for you, to stay away from his crowd. You would always used to point to them, saying that you didn’t like them because of how snotty there were. And when Baekhyun joined the baseball team, with those same people, he thought you would hate him for that or at least grow to hate him so he just... distanced himself before he could get hurt. Because he was childish. And immature. He didn’t account to how you would feel, thinking that you would get over it. Maybe Baekhyun was as much a stable in your life as you were in his.
“I’m telling you this, because I know you’re a good person and I really don’t want you to hurt her again. When you left her before, I think it affected her more than she lets on. She doesn’t show it much, but I think that’s why she’s so wary with people in general. I really don’t want to see her like that, ever. So please—”
“It’s okay, Sehunnie,” Baekhyun interjects. “I know. I’m planning on making things right between us and I don’t plan on letting her go.”
“Are you sure?” Sehun asks warily.
Baekhyun nodded in confirmation as you finally turn back, hanging up on your phone call and noticing the distance between you and the two of you boys.
You laugh. “You guys are so slow!”
Yes, Baekhyun is sure. He knows what he wants to do. What he needs to do.

You shivered under the touch of the cool autumn sky, the breeze ruffling up your hair. As an attempt to block yourself from the harsh winds, you pulled up your hoodie, the fabric covering your ears giving you just the warmth you crave.
A familiar mud green slide that twirled around like a pretzel came into view as you turned the corner. Your heart felt full at the images of sunny days and fall evenings spent in the very same space years ago, with a certain child.
It was surreal when you turned towards the swings and saw the same kid that you remember from your childhood. Tousled mop hair that went past the eyebrows, button nose, rosy cheeks, and the poutiest of pouts adorned his lips as he glared at the rock a few meters away. His jean clad legs, swung back and forth and the momentum carried him down then up then down and up again, a repeating cycle. As a child, you could never stand the swings for long—they made you get butterflies in your stomach, and not the good kind.
He spotted you, eyes widening and legs skidding across the wood chips to halt his flight, before you could even wonder whether you wanted to be there or not. It looked as if you’d intruded on a rather private moment. “Y/N? What are you doing here?”
You stepped out of the shadows, clammy hands gripping the strap of your bag. “I’d ask the same to you.”
The swing only slightly rocked back and forth now and you walked up to him, taking the adjacent seat. You didn’t look at him, absentmindedly kicking your legs back and forth but then decided against it when a wave of nausea passed over you. Some things never change.
Baekhyun exhaled a heavy breath that somehow had layers to it. The creaking of the metal joints, rusted over years of children taking turns and calling dibs, showing, as he rocked back and forth. “You remember this place?”
You look towards the side, his voice drawing your attention. Clear, resolute, brights, but at this moment it sounded much different than the Baekhyun you remember. His head was tilted back, eyes closed and face relaxed, serene, and you couldn’t help but feel that way too. This place did something like that to you. All the jitters, and nervous butterflies were drowned out by the aura of this place, and it made you feel calm, comfortable. Home. “Of course I do,” you whispered. You were afraid that if you spoke too loud, something would break, and this, whatever this was would go with it. Your voice merely echoed through the space between the two of you, the buzz of cicadas quickly rebutting it.
“I come here sometimes,” he looks towards you as he says this, and you hold his eyes. Your eyes wander across his face. He looks so tired. “To think.”
You smile a small smile. “Funny.” He cocks an eyebrow at your comment. You shake your head at his pointed look. “I came here just to do that.”
“Do you come here often?”
Your breath comes out in visible puffs in front of you. “No.” Another, but larger. “Yes.”
He chuckles, his signature laugh making your smile grow even bigger. “And we’ve never seen each other before today? Crazy.”
“Yeah,” you grin. “Crazy.”
Your eyes bore into him, as Baekhyun, and as you see the way his shoulders hunch back, the furrow of his eyebrows, how his skin almost sags, the shadows bringing out the darkness under his eyes. You can’t help but ask, again. “Are you okay?”
His head tilts to your side and he opens one of his eyes, peering at you almost upside down, sideways. “Of course I am,” he chirps, “just a little tired ‘s all.”
“Then why don’t you go sleep?”
He tilts his head back up, eyes closing. “Can’t.” Silence looms over the two of you, but he breaks it, once again. “I actually need to apologize to you.”
You turn towards him, confusion etched over your face. “Apologize?”
“Yes,” he confirmed. “I’m really sorry for being super... distant to you these past weeks. I don’t really know what got over me.”
“No, no, I mean,” you stutter, grasping his words and reason for an apology. “I should be apologizing. I guess, I stepped over a line, and your reaction was normal for what I did—”
“For what you did?” he interjects, puzzled. “I don’t get it, are we even talking about the same thing?”
“The locker rooms?” you try, wincing at the harsh memory and its outcome.
“Yeah… but you didn’t say anything like that—”
“Yes, but I said something that were implied in my words and—”
“Okay,” he grins and you warily meet his eyes. “How about we just forget that ever happened and start over again?” He cocks his head cutely and you inwardly coo, being reminded of the child you once knew (and now know again).
“Okay,” you agree, smiling.
The small smile he sported suddenly turned larger and much more wary. A mischievous grin pulled at the corner of his lips as he stood up to his full height, the swing twirling erratically at the loss of his weight. “I have an idea.” He bends down to pick up the backpack perched on the corner pole of frame when he looks at you, almost shy, and you were transported once again to the time when you were just a child and didn’t know anything better in the world. “You don’t need to be anywhere soon, do you?”
You shake your head no as you mirror him, dusting off your behind for remaining dirt, and straightening out your jacket.
“Great,” he beamed. “Let’s go!”
The arcade was still the same as you remember it. When you came to, wondering where in the hell Byun Baekhyun was taking you and whether you should’ve followed or him or just ditched to a sauna for the rest of the night was swiped clear out of your memory when you arrived at the front. A few of the letters balanced on a hilt of the building, were fused out, the A, C, and E, black in the darkness of the night. The sign now spelled, ‘RAD’ but you remembered the time when all of the letters dazzled bright colors all on their own.
Baekhyun shot you one of his award winning smiles when you looked at him, incredulously, mouth agape. “This was still here?” you marveled, breathlessly.
He nodded, excitingly. “It hasn’t changed one bit.”
And he wasn’t wrong.
The entrance was dimly lit, only one person over the counter and the teenage boy looked eerily dead, the light above him flickering on and off. When the bell chimed as you entered, he jolted, eyes glazing over the two of you.
“For two?” He queried, monotonously.
“Yes, please,” Baekhyun replied, bouncing on the tips of his toes.
The boy registered and handed you the tickets as you and Baekhyun paid for your own. Baekhyun tried paying for you saying that he dragged you into it, but you stared him down, and he eventually caved. Why would he even pay for you? It’s not like the two of you were on a—no! Y/N, don’t go there! Bad territory to be roaming around especially this close to a guy in a seemingly empty space. You shake your head free of thoughts as you focused back on the game at hand.
Baekhyun had got the lead when you glanced at his screen, but you quickly overpassed him, a trick from so long ago, now muscle memory, taking over you.
He groaned and you cheered as the tickets from under piled out and a crown displayed on your screen and a frowny face on his. You had an urge to soothe the scrunch between his brows when you saw him gloating off the number of tickets you accumulated over the time you’d been here.
As you headed to the counter filled with different toys and stuffed animals, the clock behind it showed that it was almost 10. You’d been here for two hours? It barely felt like 1.
Baekhyun’s eyes were trained on a pikachu plushie to the corner. He didn’t have enough tickets to buy them.
“I’ll get the Pikachu, over there,” you pointed, and couldn’t help but coo at the small almost inaudible whine that blew past Baekhyun’s lips. “Are you going to get anything?”
His eyes flitted between the number of tickets displayed on the machine and back to the wall of toys.
“How about that tiger over there? It kinda looks like you,” you nudged, smiling, when his eyes brightened up again at the sight.
“Okay,” he states. “I’ll take that one.”
The walk back was heavy, silent. The impending doom and the utter discomfort at not having a bed for the night loomed over you and you cursed yourself for ever giving in to your roommate's enticing offers. Dammit, you and your weak heart.
Baekhyun took a deep breath as the ticking of the crosswalk, halted you from the street. “I go this way.”
He points towards his left and you know your apartment is in the opposite direction but you can’t help but want to lie and walk with him just a little bit more. Everything about today had just been so... nice. There was no other way to describe. It made your cheeks blush red, your breath unsteady, your legs stagger and you heart beat so hard you felt as if it would burst out of your chest.
The words were falling past your lips and you wished to take them back as soon as they escaped when you saw the worry fall onto his face. “I was just gonna crash at a cafe for the night.”
“Too much homework?” he questioned.
“Well, yes, and I’ve been kicked out of my room for the night,” you laughed the last part off, hoping that it didn’t sound as bad as it really should. And then you realized that it did sound as bad as it did and you were quick to rebuke just in case a tiny part of Baekhyun worried for you. “I mean! It’s not a big deal or anything, just I owe Sehun a big favor and apparently his plus one’s house is under plumbing or something and I do have that essay do the day after, and I guess, it just all works out...?”
“You don’t have anywhere else?”
You nervously chuckled. “I already tried...? And it’s fine. Not the first time—”
“You can stay with me,” Baekhyun interjected. You coughed a sudden cough. “If you want to, I mean.”
“Uhhhh, well—”
“You’ll have to owe me a favor, of course, it’s not every day I let someone borrow the mattress under my bed, but it’s fine if its you, as long as it is a big favor.”
You stood speechless for the minutest of moments. “I—is that okay?”
“Yeah, it's cool. A big favor, though, okay,” he pointed.
You held your hands up in surrender. “A big favor,” you repeated.
He dropped his finger and a lazy smile that brightened up his face all the more, washed over him. “Let’s go then, I’m bunked.”
Tumblr media
You startled awake, eyes shooting open. Darkness meets you and it takes a few moments to register the room you’re in with the only light source being from the tiny gap in the curtain. Curtains. Blue curtains. You don’t have blue curtains.
You’re currently on the floor. Laying on a mattress. There are two bunk beds on either side of you. One of them occupied with Byun Baekhyun who is currently dangling from the bed and drooling. Your brain finally registers awake and reruns everything that happened the night before, starting from your unexpected meeting all the way to Baekhyun’s gracious offer. Considering where you are now, last night wasn’t a dream.
You throw off the covers, suddenly feeling hot. Did he always sleep with no air conditioner? You wondered whether or not you should stay until he woke up, or if you’d be overstaying your welcome. Padding around for your phone, it was half past nine. You didn’t have any classes until the afternoon. You decided to kill time going through your social media, having nothing else to do. But your eyes soon got bored and trailed towards Baekhyun’s almost right above you.
You could make out his distinct features in the dim lights, the ones you are used to and everyone saw, but there was something so peaceful with the way his eyelashes laid against his cheeks and his lips and cheeks a rosy pink. And the drool. You stifled a laugh when the drool started to roll down his chin, threatening to drop off.
It wasn’t long for your heart to start pounding in your eardrums at the serenity of this environment and how quiet everything is. It starts getting louder, almost deafening until you peel your eyes away from Baekhyun.
You suddenly make eye contact with Chanyeol, who gazes at you blankly, face held in his palm.
You intake a sharp breath at the confrontation as he narrows his eyes at you. “Did Baekhyun bring you here?” he whispers.
You nod slowly before realizing the implication of the statement. “Wait, no! Not like that,” your harsh whisper makes Baekhyun stir and your wide-eyed as Chanyeol hold his finger to his lips. Like a deer caught in headlights you slowly nod in understanding. “I just didn’t have a place to stay, and Baekhyun offered. That’s all.”
Chanyeol’s eyes are clouded. You can’t tell what he’s thinking. For such an expressive person that everyone claims him to be he seems far too intimidating in front of you right now. “Do you like him?”
“What? No! Of course not.” you refute harshly. Chanyeol’s eyes narrow down at you. You wither under his gaze. “Okay, maybe a little. But don’t tell him, alright?”
“And why is that?” he presses.
“Just, please, I—”
I’m scared. You choke back the words.
“I don’t want to lose him as a friend.”
Chanyeol nods. “Okay. Just be careful with him, okay? Some people use him because he’s Byun Baekhyun and he just lets it happen because he’s too nice and won’t say anything, so just when you’re with him, take care of him alright?”
You look at him questionably. “Why are you telling me this?”
He laughs, waving the question off. “It’s nothing.”
“Huh... you’re awake?” Baekhyun slurs from above you.
“Oh, Baekhyun!” Chanyeol grins. “I was just about to make breakfast, Y/N, will you join me?” A flip had switched in Chanyeol’s demeanor and your eyes don’t leave his, even as he shuffles out of his bed, his earlier words bouncing off the walls in your head.
Baekhyun groans and flips his covers on top of his head, muffling a five minutes. Chanyeol cocked his towards you. “Coming?”
“Yeah,” you mumbled, trailing behind Chanyeol.

Baekhyun gave you one of his old jerseys, and a yellow t-shirt. You got the reference, his favorite color being yellow, and ‘byun’ printed on the back of the jersey.
“All the Baekhyun fans have one of these, but hyung said this one was special since he got it personally for you or some bullshit.” You didn’t care much for Sehun’s snarkiness, taking the clothing with gentle hands and scurrying off into your bedroom to squeal because Baekhyun got this just for you!!!
You’d tucked it into a pair of loose-fitted jeans the afternoon after, spending hours doing your hair and makeup before topping it off with a team hat. You’d gone for a minimalistic look, trying too much to make sure it didn’t look like you actually spent hours on it. Not that you were dressing up for a certain someone—who are you kidding, you are totally dressing to impress. Sehun took one look at you and snorted. You swatted his arm ignoring the look he gave you. “I haven’t seen this much effort since prom in senior year.”
You huffed a whatever, stalking out of your apartment and placing yourself in the backseat of his car, as you went to pick up Mina. Apparently the two of them were together again. You figured you knew when that happened.
When you get to the field, Sehun announced that he’s hungry and went off to the hot dog stand. You and Mina, meanwhile, climb up to your seats taking in the view. The bleachers are filled to the brim with people from your school and also people from not. You underestimated the sheer popularity of the baseball team in your state.
And you also noticed many other girls dressed up similarly to you.
“So there’s something between you and Baekhyun?” Mina spoke up, from beside you.
Your head whipped towards her and your mouth opened and closed like a fish, unable to make a response.
She glanced towards your shirt and then to the fine print of ‘byun’ across your back and raised an eyebrow at your lack of an answer.
“W-were just friends,” you finally stuttered out.
Mina’s eyebrows raise up another level. “Sure…” she says, sounding totally not convinced. “Because friends blush at the mention of another friend’s name.”
Your hands fly to your cheeks patting them down. “I’m not blushing,” you frown.
She laughs. “Whatever you say, but I personally think you’d be good together.”
You look at her, curiously, egging her to go on.
“I mean, Baekhyun doesn’t really date that often. Eunha—was a stupid decision on his part, I don’t know what got into him. But he’s a good guy and I think he really likes you, Y/N.”
“He likes h-h-uh?” you bumble, head spinning.
Mina snickers. “Yeah, I think he does. And I’m the best when figuring out these types of things,” she grins, adding a cheeky wink towards you.
Your left to mull about her words, as Sehun enters, handing you your hot dog and soda.
“Oh, it’s starting!” Sehun comments and the pitcher throws the first ball. The crowd goes wild.
The game ends with your team winning 6-4 and you find yourself cheering for them along with the others in the crowd.
Sehun drags you towards the locker rooms, telling you that it’ll be fine, and Baekhyun will totally not be weirded out by you visiting him after the game and telling him a good job.
“Sehun!” One of the team called out as you entered the locker room. A horde of sweaty boys swatted at your friend and took the compliments he threw out. You craned your neck searching to find a familiar pink-haired boy before someone called your name from behind.
You turned to find Baekhyun, with a towel slung over his neck, bangs sticking to his forehead, and cheeks flushed. Not to mention the smile that spread over his face like he just saw an angel. He looked effortlessly hot. So unfair.
He jogged towards you and before you could even say a hello, he threw his arms around your waist, burying his face in the crook of your neck. You froze for a split second before wrapping your arms around his shoulders, a small smile playing on your lips. You forgot that he was really touchy realizing he must’ve never outgrown the habit, not that it was a particularily bad one. His drooling was far worse. With how tight he was hugging you, you figured it must’ve been out of relief. You knew it. He really was worried for the game.
“You did really well,” you breathed, lips hovering over his ear. He smelled like sweat, undoubtedly and you were sure the warmth would stick to your skin soon enough, but didn’t dare shy away from his hold. He would always hold you like this back then as well and you felt comfort from that fact. Some things really do never change.
He groaned, voice muffled by your skin. His lips moving against your neck sent shivers through your skin so even if you did hear it, your mind was on another level. Finally he pulled his head back, still crouched so he looked up at you, a smirk sporting his lips.
“You wore it.”
You rolled your eyes, and pulled your hands away from him, as he stood to his full height. “You’re the one who begged me to, Byun,” you huffed.
“No, I didn’t!” he exclaimed, sounding aghast at your presumption.
“Oh, really?” you egged, eyes sparkling. “Please? Just for me? Ring any bell?”
“Okay, okay, whatever, you say,” he grinned, hand coming up to ruffle your hair.
You frowned playfully before continuing. “But you did a really good job! You worried over nothing.”
“Who said I worried?” he pouted.
You laughed before motioning to his eye bags. He swatted at your hands, before the two of you burst into giggles.
And then suddenly he’s grabbing your free hand, his encasing yours in warmth and raising it up into the air before shouting a loud ‘let’s go!’ to the rest of the people in the room.
The team chorused shouts in answer before Baekhyun tugged at your arm, eyes smiling like they held the galaxy and stars back at you before pulling you with the crowd that filed out of the cramped room.
You lost Baekhyun to the crowd once you got to the party. Migrating towards the kitchen, you grabbed a soda from the fridge, deciding to pass on the drinks tonight, no matter how enticing they were. Sehun found you brooding in the corner not two minutes later, and true to his word, didn’t leave your side. You, Sehun, and Mina, played in a beer pong game with some guys you vaguely recognize from your sociology class, but can’t put a name on. You played rock, paper, scissors, every time to see who’d drink and it was as if Sehun got on the wrong side of Dionysus tonight. You quickly got bored, however, gravitating away from the crowd when Sehun and Mina headed out on to the dance floor. It couldn’t really be called that when really it was just the living room with some strobe lights and stereos that blasted half-assed music.
You took a seat on the empty two seater, sipping on your soda, and looking up when Jongdae came down to sit next to you.
“Having fun?” he asked, voice almost muffled by the music even though he was practically screaming.
“I think I’ve had enough for the night,” you laughed. “I’ll just find Baekhyun and Sehun and tell them I’m leaving before I go,” you say before getting up.
“Oh, I think I saw Baekhyun before, I’ll take you to him,” he commented, before leading the way.
It isn’t hard to find Baekhyun, what with his eccentric hair color and white outfit. However, Jongdae suddenly stops in front of you, making you bump into him.
His mouth opened to say something and you peeked over his shoulder, thinking that there was something there that you just had to see. “What is it—”
Your voice falters and then you lock eyes with Byun Baekhyun. And he’s kissing someone. He’s kissing Eunha.
Tumblr media
Baekhyun regrets it the moment it happened. His eyes fly open, when her mouth comes into contact with his and he sees your eyes undoubtedly meet his across the crowds of people hovering over the shoulder of Kim Jongdae. You stare into his eyes and before he can even pull away or shout your name, your gone, surrounding yourself in the shadows with Jongdae running behind you. He snaps his head back, glaring at Eunha.
He doesn’t bother to speak a word to her, opting to run after the way you came from. Shit, shit, shit, this probably would not end well. No, no, no need for negative thoughts, he will make it end well.
He doesn’t find you in the kitchen which was the way you were headed but he found Sehun and pounced on his immediately.
“Did you see, Y/N?”
“Huh, no, why?” Sehun asked, eyebrows furrowed. The smile was wiped off his face and in place a frown. “Hyung…”
“Just, see if she texted you maybe?” Baekhyun pleads, voice growing louder at the upturn of music. Sehun cocks his head but does as he said, eyes widening before showing him the text.
y/n: sorry sehunnie, didn’t feel too well. went back home if you need me ^^
Baekhyun’s heart runs into overdrive, and he’s out of the door a split second after. His feet are carrying him as fast as possible and when he’s finally on the elevator going up to your floor, eyes blown out and breath ragged from running, he takes a moment to conserve himself. It was a mistake. And you have to understand that. Because what Baekhyun realized as he was egging the taxi driver to go faster across the city, was that he wanted you there with him. He wanted to kiss you. Not Eunha. Not anyone else. And he wanted to kiss you really fucking bad.
The door dings open and he sees the color of your jacket as you shuffle through your bag, presumably looking for your keys.
He’s by your side in a second and you turn and look around to see what's all the raucous. You visibly stiffen. Your face is streaked with tears, eyes puffy, cheeks blotchy, and lips a dark rouge as if you’ve been biting them for hours.
“Y/N…” Baekhyun starts hand reaching for your wrist unconsciously. You shift away from this and Baekhyun notices that deflating.
“What are you doing here?” you question, voice wobbling, as if you were about to start crying any second now. And from the way it looked, it seemed to be true.
“That kiss—” he starts, and Baekhyun realizes his voice is far too loud for the quiet of the empty hallway and as you flinch, he takes a sharp breath. “That kiss meant nothing. Eunha doesn’t mean anything to me anymore. She’s just an ex, and I guess she thought since I was being nice to her that meant that we could be together again, and really it isn’t anything like that because I don’t like her anymore.”
You blink owlishly at him, looking as if you aren't digesting what he was saying, which made Baekhyun halt. “Why are you telling me this?”
“Be-because, you saw! You saw me kissing Eunha, and I obviously had to explain it or else there would be too many misconceptions—”
“You don’t have to tell me that. It’s not like I’m your girlfriend or anything.” You laugh heartlessly and sniffle. “I’m just some delusional girl who thinks that just because she used to be your friend ages ago, she would somehow have even a sliver of a chance that you would like her, but again that’s delusional! Because it somehow managed to slip my mind that you’re Byun Baekhyun of the baseball team. Handsome, smart, athletic, kind, caring, loving and not the Byun Baekhyun who’d tripped over his own feet and have dirt and drool over his face all the time—”
Your crying as Baekhyun kisses you.
His weight leans into you and you take small steps back as your back hits the wall behind you. He adds more pressure, tilting his head, hand gripping your hand more just in case you felt as if this wasn’t real, which he believed what would be running through your mind now.
He feels like absolute putty when you soften at his touch and splay a delicate hand over his chest, and when he bites down on your lip you make a noncommittal noise from the back of your throat that has him falling.
You squeak when Baekhyun’s hands, one placed on your hip and the other on your neck and in your hair and everywhere, tilt your head higher, bringing him deeper into the kiss. It isn’t until you gently push him back, breathless, and eyes hooded that he takes a moment to consider the predicament he stood in.
“I’m not dreaming, am I?” you breathe, wiping the stray tears away from your face.
Baekhyun chuckles softly, patting down your hair. “I thought you would say that.”
The clicking of a lock from the other side of the hall, snaps both your attention towards it. Baekhyun is amused as you look at him wide-eyed as the clicks continue. You pick up the key that somehow dropped to the floor in the midst of everything and are quick to open your door pulling Baekhyun in.
When the door shuts behind Baekhyun, with you leaning against his chest, breathing deep, and Baekhyun leaning against the door, he can’t help but feel like the luckiest man in the world.
His hands snake their way into your hair, one of them tilting your chin up. “Round two?” he smiles, cheekily.
You blush a pretty red before nodding and meeting him in the middle for a kiss.

“did you miss hyung?” jimin asks playfully, opening up the covers as a silent invite for jungkook to come and lay down with him.
jungkook whimpers, crawling into the sheets and tucking himself into jimin’s side. jimin accepts him happily, wrapping his arms around the boy and pulling the covers up to their shoulders.
when jungkook doesn’t say anything, the smile jimin has on his face disappears. he’s beginning to think his dongsaeng visiting him this late at night may be a little more than him just being clingy.
“what’s wrong?” he asks gently, pushing jungkook away from his chest to see his face. jimin notices there are unshed tears in his eyes, and he frowns.
“my stomach hurts. it’s really bad hyung,” he whines out, clutching his middle. jimin heart clenches in sympathy. the poor boy came to him to be cared for.

a collection of phrases said by exo about jongdae ;
He takes care of the members well. He’s also kind towards the fans as if he’s their friend. (SUHO)
He’s considerate and always treats everyone and anything with consideration. (XIUMIN)
Treats me (and others) really well, occasionally he becomes annoying when being kind. (KAI)
Chanyeol and Chen are both kind. (CHANYEOL)
He’s someone who’s always considerate to the people around him. There are a lot of things one can learn from him. (D.O.)
He takes care of people well, is always nice and looks over us. An older brother I really like. (SEHUN)
In simple words, he’s kind. Also takes good care of people. An indulgent person. (BAEKHYUN)
You’ll (CHEN) be very good at marriage! (BAEKHYUN)
CHEN is good at singing, can reach high notes easily, his butt is firm and cute, extremely kind and affectionate, you can’t describe him in just one sentence. when he smiles, it's like a dad smiling at his daughter, warm and he will be a good dad in the future! CHEN also has a character of suiting all the clothes he wears! (BAEKHYUN)
When we were auditioning together, seeing JONGDAE, I saw that he would relieve his throat with high notes. I thought he would become my biggest rival… Because CHEN sings well, I always ask him to show me and teach me. He’s kind and sings well, and maybe it’s because we came in together, he is a friend that my heart goes out to. When we were split apart and he was promoting as EXO-M, I missed him, but I’m happy that we’re doing it together. (BAEKHYUN)
CHEN takes care of people really well. And he sings really well. CHEN helped me a lot on my demo and also sung on it. He’s also very confident. (LAY)
Out of all the EXO members, I spend the most time with CHEN. Even if we don’t speak, I think I know what CHEN is thinking. Thank you for following me and it’s a relief that you’re in EXO. You know my infinite affection, right? (XIUMIN)
He’s a friend I can lean on, CHEN, it’s hard to sing high parts, right? To you who smiles even during unpleasant times, and for taking care of the members with bright energy, I’m grateful. (BAEKHYUN)
Thank you for following what I say. I play around with you a lot, but I do it because I like you… I want to hear more of what you say. (SUHO)
To CHEN who I really love, I’m really thankful that you always share good energy to the members through a bright appearance. (D.O.)
I think CHEN has always been consistent… I like CHEN more than before… Sometimes I want to say to him “You should be more greedy,” I care for him that much. But I want to say to CHEN, “Be with us in the same way in the future.” Since I like CHEN so much now. (CHANYEOL)
CHEN hyung, when you yell out high notes on stage, I really feel catharsis. I always think hyung is cool, and I’m proud. I ask you for awesome stages in the future. And take good care of your throat, so it doesn’t get damaged. (KAI)
I always respect hyung’s positive mind. When the members are tired, I always receive strength from hyung saying, “Just do it slowly.” … I think the team’s atmosphere has become better because of hyung. I’m always thankful. (SEHUN)
Mine and CHEN’s vocal colors as well as our vocal ranges are different so I think our vocal chemistry is the best. CHEN bursts out refreshingly with his high notes and then I support him softly/smoothly. (BAEKHYUN)
He is a dongsaeng who I want to treat better as a hyung, but I feel like I’ve done things that hurt his feelings so I feel apologetic. I think JONGDAE is the nicest and purest person and dongsaeng that I know. I really… like JONGDAE. (SUHO)
fuck anyone who thinks removing jongdae from a group that loves and relies on him so much is a good idea. he’s the sweetest and most genuine idol out there, not just from a fan’s perspective, but even more so from the one’s who have been with him for nearly a decade and actually know him best.

to you #2
Tumblr media
“taehee, we need you to do something”
she was in the middle of helping their producers compose ‘punch’
so when they told her she had to do something
the thought of wanting to go home rushed to her head
my baby just wanted to rest gdi :((
but she gets up and follows them anyways
“go inside and play the video on the camera. then give your thoughts about it and make the same thing about jungwoo.”
“about jungwoo oppa?”
“you’ll know once you play the video.”
the video starts recording when she gets in
but she just....stands by the door for a few moments
“ooo i can feel the tension”
“is it this one? i’ll play it now.”
she sits down and as soon as haechan’s face shows on the screen
she smiles
“ahh i think i know where this is going”
she presses play
“wait i’m nervous hahahaha (´ω`)” - taehee, 20
“noona...”
cue nervous squealing and all the squirming
bc taehee’s not good in situations like this
like if it’s too serious she can’t help but make a sound or do something to lighten it up
but she feels like she won’t get in the moment
if she kept on thinking of it as awkward
hence the talking
this is one of those times she wants to treasure
bc they usually don’t go deep like this
so in her head she’s like
‘okay i’ll shut up now’
“i know i tell you that i love you a lot,,,to the point where it seems like i don’t mean it but,,,i really do.”
she smirks a bit bc she’s like, “yeah, right” but she can still sense the sincerity behind his words
hyuck’s really different when he’s serious so she holds back her comments
“you work very hard for us, for czennies, and you never show us that you’re tired. you have fun with us, but at the same time you try to help us improve in a leader-like manner.”
“tough love,” he says in english
“tough love,” she repeats with a smile
“honestly, at first when you felt.....”
he makes gestures with his hands he’s not really supposed to say
“....down, i didn’t know what to do. i’m sorry for that,,,i’m learning to becoming a better dongsaeng.”
“but even if it’s not with me, at least you can find more comfort in the older hyungs.”
taehee gets a little teary eyed bc :(((
her favorite baby cares so much about her
she knows hyuck wants her to open up to him bc he’s worried
and taehee doesn’t want that :(( so she tries :((
but sometimes it’s hard to open up to people bc the thought of making your feelings a burden to them overpowers you
overthinking sucks
“stop being hard headed at times, noona. listen to the hyungs, alright?”
taehee laughs
“and me too, okay?”
she continues to smile lovingly at the screen as hyuck goes back to being serious again
“please know that,,,we wouldn’t have it any other way. i’m greatful that you’re part of this team and i’m sure the others feel this way too.”
he smiles sadly at the camera
“we rely too much on you so i think it’s time that you should rely on us....”
“ah haechann,” taehee looks away
“we’ve been friends for a long time, we were younger back then. we went through a lot during our trainee days, but we went through it together and learned a lot of things about each other. we’re closer now so i think that’s good.....”
she sniffles and adjusts in her seat
but then scoffs after realizing what he said
“he thinks?”
but she diverts her attention back to him when he tells her to listen, “noona, i’m thankful that you always put us before yourself but,,”
“it’s okay to let loose sometimes,” he says slowly, “we’ll be there to catch you when you fall, don’t worry.”
she gets flustered and tries to hold back her smile so she covers her mouth
“you’re awkward about this, aren’t you?”
“ahh he got me”
“it’s okay. i’ll end it now,”
“please trust us more,,,but take your time”
“let’s live a healthy life and grow old together,” he smiles as he gets up
he looks into the camera before ending the video
“i love youuuuuu <3”
hyuck’s so sweet
he made taehee’s heart melt (´ω`)
she puts the camera back on the tripod and sighs
but like a good sigh
like uhhh ‘never-knew-you-had-it-in-you-you-surprised-me’ kind of sigh
“ahh haechan....lee donghyuck....wahh.”
it was silent as taehee kept fidgeting in her seat
she’s trying to come up with words let her be ;<<
“haechanie and i never went,,,,this deep. so it’s a good,,opportunity? i guess. i’m thankful.”
“i’ll treasure your words forever, haechanie. i’ll treat you to beef sometime.”
she laughs before taking a deep breath and starting her video
for jungwoo
her eyebrows furrow cutely and she puffs her cheeks out before saying
“oppa....”
jungwoo: ah cute
junghee we love our soft babies
“wait, hold on,,,,”
she laughs a bit, making jungwoo smile
“uhh,,,when you...when i first saw you perform, i was so amazed. i heard from the others that you cried even at rehearsal,” they both laugh
“but then you were completely different when the performance really started, so it wasn’t like you were nervous at all....”
“you work very hard,,you’re the positive energy that keeps the group going.”
“you really are unique and that alone contributes so much to our group, yet you give more than that. you give your all whenever we encounter challenges so there are times that we forget to ask how you’re doing,,and i’m sorry for that.”
“seeing that you got better after your rest made me happy as well. and the other members feel the same way,,,and because of that i realized you are the biggest energy. i admire that about you.”
“we can’t go on without you,,”
“you are strong. please remember that.”
she makes jungwoo smile
“to be honest, i wasn’t that much of a help to you, i’m sorry...mmmmm”
“that’s okay,” jungwoo whispers
“promise me that from now on,,we’ll rely on each other. walk through our troubles together, help each other improve. ride out our joys and dreams, together. until we both reach the top.”
“ahhh, jeon taehee word master, as expected.”
“we joke around a lot so i tried to make use of this opportunity the best i can,,,you’re a great friend, teammate, and brother. let’s be happy together for a long time,”
she raises her fists as if saying “fighting!”
he raises it from the other side of the screen, chuckles
“i love youuu,,,mwah”
the video ends
“jeon taehee,,,has a way with her words. she made my heart flutter,” her shyness in the video came to his mind and he laughed
“taehee, don’t worry. i understand,” jungwoo was referring to her apology earlier
he, and the other members, out of all people should understand what she’s going through
“ahhh, she’s so cute. we do joke around a lot, but let’s try to have a stronger chemistry, shall we? i love you too,”
he smiles, before pressing record
