need more of your sae for scientific reasons. very important
here you go lovely:
Tumblr media
sae has zero taste in fashion unfortunately. if it covers his body and does not get in the way of football, then it works for him. that's also the reason why he accepts christmas sweaters with the most atrocious color combinations. he genuinely doesn't know that they're ugly (and also doesn't want to upset his mother and elderly aunties.) still has a pair of bright turquoise swim trunks from when he was a preteen with "i ♡ seagulls" printed all over them. he never threw them out and still wears them on summer trips. did not understand why half the beachgoers were side-eyeing him.
sae cannot comprehend internet slang. if you send him any acronym, he will read it out loud in the literal sense. would flick you on the forehead if you said he was becoming too millennial. he was born in the 2000s but cannot relate to anyone in the same generation.
sae would adopt a cat, but it would be a reverse adoption. the cat would choose him and not the other way around. he would not bother with it other than the required feeding and grooming. tried to play with it once, but it hissed and scratched at him. both of them just exist simultaneously in the same residence. sometimes the kitty jumps on his bed at midnight in order to cuddle. he would also name it something like "neko" or "el gato" or literally "the cat" because he is so unoriginal.
sae gives himself the whole patrick bateman monologue every morning when he does his skincare routine. he peels his face mask off in slow motion too. when you pointed out the similarities, he got mildly upset because he does not like being compared to anyone.
sae secretly hates the fact that rin is taller than him. he thinks about it a lot when he sees the family photos. sometimes wishes he grew just a little more during puberty. that way he would be taller than 180 cm.
sae cannot sing for the life of him. but if you are sick or having nightmares, he will hum you the lullaby his mother used to sing for him. gets shy when you compliment his voice, but his emotions do not manifest physically on his facial features. sometimes when he thinks you're finally asleep in his lap, he will brush your hair back and kiss your forehead.
sae sometimes feels a stirring in his chest whenever he spots a child in the park or an old couple on the benches near the boardwalk. he left for spain at a young age, so he inevitably gets the feeling that his childhood was stolen from him. if he ever matured to the point where he could see beyond his own ambitions, he would want to start a family.
sae loves it when he comes home from practice and sees you dancing around in the kitchen. he will watch silently as you prance around with a spatula and belt out the lyrics. sometimes he just wants to capture the moment and tuck it into his breast pocket and treasure it forever.
sae feels touched when you actually listen to what he says. because he is a man of few words, he usually has to be the one who listens, digests information, and offers sound advice. however, if you grant him the time of day to hear him out or gift him something that he once mentioned off-hand, he will feel strange tingles of the emotion he tries so desperately to deny.
sae is a skeptic. no scam, ploy, or false pretense will ever make it past him. he despises people-pleasers and does not understand why he has to conform to other people's standards. will not trust news outlets unless he personally was there as an eyewitness account or there is sufficient research backing up the claims.
sae is rather extreme when it comes to getting hurt. it is all or nothing with him. if he feels like you somehow penetrated through his walls and hurt him even in the slightest way, he will make the situation worse by hurting you back tenfold. usually he tries to justify pushing you away, and that just ends up driving him even further from you. tbh he really needs to work on his communication skills. rather than shutting down after an issue arises, he has to learn to put his own opinions aside and hear out the other party.
sae gets bored easily, but he is hesitant to try out new things in fear of not being immediately good at them. as the eldest child of his family and a hailed prodigy in his nation, there is the expectation that he must naturally excel at everything to set a good example. football is where he first found his talent and where he feels the most comfortable even if it isn't as inspiring and exciting as it once was. unfortunately, it leads to the onset of burnt-out-gifted-kid syndrome. that's also why he is seeking out a strong striker who can meet his demands and generate the impossible plays he is looking for. essentially sae needs someone to rekindle his original love for the sport.
sae gets defensive when he lets other people down, except this isn't immediately apparent. usually you would have to read between the lines with him. he bases his self-worth off both his own ambitions and the people close to him. if he disappoints someone important to him, he will be stuck in this sinkhole of internal turmoil. that's also why he lashes out at rin when rin reminds him of their shared dream he gave up on. he doesn't like his mistakes being pointed out, much less when his stoic image crumbles. he might also push you away and try to convince himself that you aren't worth that much to him in order to lessen his guilt.
sae needs someone highly intuitive and patient in his life. you need to be able to understand his emotions intrinsically because even he cannot grasp his own feelings. you also need to teach him how to connect himself with the outside world. because sae has primarily fended for himself ever since he was born, you have to convince him that it is okay to rely on others. his mentality is that if he reaches the top, no one will be able to touch him, much less hurt him. however, he sometimes fails to see how that simultaneously isolates himself from others.
sae is relatively straightforward when it comes to getting what he wants. if he somehow miraculously realizes and comes to terms with the fact that he loves you, he will confess it directly to your face. "date me or don't." it's not even a question. it's a factual statement.
sae is not as emotionally mature as the rest of the fandom makes him out to be. just because he does not show emotions in a traditional sense doesn't mean he necessarily has better control or understanding over them. for example, he gets jealous but would not know that the emotion he is feeling is actually called jealousy. rather than tease him about it, i think he would sincerely appreciate if you reassured him both verbally and physically through your actions. he is a man who relies on substance, so you need to prove that you'll be the one who stays with him through thick and thin.
sae oscillates between caring too little about others and caring too much. on one hand, he is more than willing to drop someone or something if his end goal has already been met. the ends always justify the means in his mind. however, he also feels doubt and uncertainty at times. like rin said, he hates losing. he objects to the blue lock program at first largely because he doesn't like the idea of a newcomer. he's already written off japan as a substandard country for football, so the idea of it being changed essentially challenges him directly. but again, this is a delicate line of balance. he is alright when it comes to being challenged mentally in football and seeking out a creative out-of-box solution. for instance, he is more than willing to accept rin's progress, shidou's unpredictability, and isagi's breakthrough talent. however, he is not okay with having his preconceptions destroyed as evidenced by his disillusionment in spain.
sae and ego would actually get along pretty well because they both have this one-track mind when it comes to football. players are reduced to numbers and metrics, and everything is evaluated as an advantage or disadvantage. ego is also ruthless when it comes to the elimination of the weak, and sae wouldn't disagree with that.
sae sometimes wakes up on the weekends and sees you in his bed, the sunlight raining down on your face. it is in this sort of domesticity that he wonders what life would be like if he wasn't a football prodigy. he craves normality not in the sense that he wants to be like everyone else but rather the idea that he needs to feel some sort of attachment or sense of belonging between you two. he could care less about the rest of the world but so long as you accept him, he would feel validated.
sae gives you free reign over his heart when he finally gives out and you're still there to pick him up. in his mind, he is worth nothing if he fails. if you're still there to reassure him and put him back together, he will first look at you like you're stupid for even wanting to stay with him. but once he realizes you stay only because you love him, you have his unconditional commitment. he would put a ring on your finger right then and there.
lmao that was long but that concludes my psychoanalysis on sae. hope that cures your insatiable need.

"Look, look- they have a whole section on rocks! Kinda basic selection but it's still rocks!"
You never thought you'd be able to learn so much about rocks in one day, but it seemed like Venture had made it their personal mission to force as much information into your brain as possible. You didn't mind, really! It was always nice listening to them rant about all the cool stuff they found while walking around the museum you'd planned to bring them to, but it was a lot to take in at once.
"Augh, I love sedimentary rocks- they're my favorite! 'cuz sometimes they have like, little fossils in them and I'm like, "Woah! A cool thing in another cool thing!" and it's awesome! One time I found a trilobite fossil in a rock, it was so cool! I wonder if they have any here- that'd be so amazing! I wonder what they taste like-"
After spilling every single fact they could think of about the rocks on display, Venture drags you to a section of the museum dedicated to Egyptian history, though they mostly just seemed interested in the architecture of the pyramids. You really did try to listen, but you mostly just caught the gist of their long, long, long explanations- something about a Mastaba being like a sort of prototype to pyramids? You were just happy to see them so excited, even if you didn't quite understand what they were so hyped about.
"Oh, if only that British lady could go back to ancient Egypt and get the architects of their time to answer my questions! I'd give anything to be able to do that!" Sensing the slight disappointment creeping up on them, you decide to try and bring Venture elsewhere, not wanting them to spend any energy on being upset by what they can't do.
"Why don't we go look at the dinosaur fossils? I'm sure there's some mistakes in the descriptions that you can correct!" You take their hand, gently pulling them away from the long essay-like description of images of the pyramids that they were reading. Incising them with promises of being able to show off their intensive knowledge of dinosaur fossils, or fossils in general.
Venture perked up almost immediately, following behind you as they ready themselves to go on and on about their favorite dinosaur ever, the Deinocheirus! You tried to ask why it was their favorite ones, and all they said was something about it being "them fr fr" and having rocks in its stomach. You weren't too keen on questioning that one.
They take a large step so they're walking next to you, swinging your arms as you walk, "It's always been one of my biggest goals to find a dinosaur fossil! I really hope I do one day, if I did I could die happy!"
"Please don't die- I would be so sad if you died." You squeeze their hand, voice light as you joke with them.
"Aw but I wanna! I wanna be a fossil for future people like me to discover! When I do die I wanna be buried with a bunch of cool stuff! Maybe mess around with my bones a little, just to throw 'em off!" As you finally reach the fossil exhibits, they abandon you to run off and check over every. single. fossil. which while endearing, gave you a lot of running to do in an attempt to catch up.
"Finally! For once a museum that gets everything right! Well, everything as far as we know-" They stand next to one of the larger fossils, not anything you recognized as you take your place next to them, catching your breath.
"Wow, how impressive-" you wheeze, standing up straight and stretching out your legs as you link arms with Venture, trying to stop them from running off on you again.
They laugh, grabbing you by the shoulder and dragging you in the tightest hug you've ever received.
"Thank you, so, so, so much for planning this. And for listening to me talk about rocks so much, and for caring about me- and a million other things! I can't even remember everything you've done for me, but I know its a lot!" They let you go, still holding you by the shoulders, the biggest smile you've ever seen on a person splayed across their face.
"Of course-! I love spending time with you, you're well aware of that, silly." You laugh, grabbing their wrists and taking their hands off your shoulders, holding their hands as you admire the glow of excitement on their face.
"Welllll since you clearly don't mind, can we go to this other museum I found online next week?! I heard they have an area where you get to watch an hour long video on the story of Julius Caesar!"

You're a demon but you're a relatively human looking demon. Outside of having sharp teeth and slit pupils you could pass for a kind of pale skinny human. You don't have any biological sex, but when you're wearing clothing you can hide that.
You've been told by a certain type of demon that you don't really cont, that you're just a human faking it. They tend to be the type who fit the popular conception of a 'good' demon, they useally look pretty stereotypical with the horns and the red scales, and they tend to believe that they can only be redeemed in human eyes by admitting that they're lesser then them. The type who blame demons who think they're equal to humans for the hate that demons get. You don't spend time around people Iike that anymore.
You never feel more like a demon then when you're around humans. You understand that they're more likely to exist near someone like you then they are around a demon who looks like a living shadow, or someone with tentacles covering the lower half of their face, or someone with giant wings and a bird head. But they still treat you differently, humans don't feel safe being touched by you or being with you alone once they know what you are, they get uncomfortable when you talk about your culture or when you act 'too demonic' near them. And sometimes they'll ask you strange questions, or if certain things are ok for you that they wouldn't ask for a human. You've been threatened with holy water for trying to "seduce" someone once, it's the type of thing that makes you want to never talk to anyone.
Now that you're in college you have freinds who are also demons, most of them being less human passing then you, but none of them really see you differently because of it. One of your closest freinds is nearly completely biomechanical, and almost insectoid looking, the type of demon who gets rejected by parts of the community for being "too weird" or "irredeemable". Another one has a lamprey mouth instead of a face, and is the son of a high ranking member of the abyss, one of the few fourth generation demons you know. Even when a problem in the demonic community doesn't directly effect you, it still effects the people closest to you. Everyone feels so close and so understanding. You can look at a flaming skeleton with raven wings, or a living suit of armor with glowing eyes, and feel like you're part of the same community, you have the same culture, the same history, and the people who want to hurt you and the religions that preach for your extermination all see you as the same too. You start dressing more demonically, when you first became a demon as a kid your parents made sure you dressed as much like a human as possible, now you want nothing more then to show that your humanity is long gone.
One day you meet a girl who recently became a demon. She doesn't pass at all, her eyes turned completely black, and her skin completely white, and she has this massive mouth filled with sharp metal teeth that are visible even when it's closed. She's constantly upset, she doesn't understand why anyone is proud of being a demon, she feels like this is the worst fate she could have. She became a demon in the middle of the semester, and her parents blame the fact that she went to college so far away, in such a large city. It doesn't sound like her parents are going to see her again.
You invite her to some of the meetings demons have. But she's still to upset with what she's become. Talks about going to a church that has a way of making her not a demon anymore, you warn her that it's not going to go how she wants it to. She hopes that if she prays to her god that he'll make her human again. But you know that if that god is real, he doesn't love her anymore.
The next time you hear about her everyone in the demonic community is talking about her. She was praying at night in a church downtown, one of the paladins saw her, and saw her as they saw any other demon, praying or not. She was killed by a silver bullet, and her body devolved in holy water. Her parents will remember her as if she was human, make up a story about how she's a human again in the after life, members of her church will talk about how she was never really a demon as long as she didn't give in, and her grave will be fat from the city she died in. But your community will light a memorial, showing her as she looked when she died, and here she will be remembered a demon. And it will be remembered amoung paladins that when they harm one of you, that they harm them all, and that there are members of your community who can fight back.

A chronological analysis on Twilight and Yor - Part 21
*This is part of an ongoing post series. If you missed the Introduction/Part 1, click here*
----------
The next morning, Twilight muses to himself that there are still things in the world he doesn't understand, but nevertheless, a spy must overcome fear of the unknown. While his face and tone are dead serious, it's comical that the thing that caused him to burst into this heavy-handed inner monologue in the first place is none other than his misinterpretation of Anya's reactions the previous day. AniTrendz described the humor of this scene perfectly by stating that "Loid really spent all morning acting dramatic when he's just sad that his daughter called him lame."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, he really was bothered by the fact that he's still having trouble understanding Anya's emotions. While her mental well-being is important for Operation Strix, he also cares very much how she views him as a father. Unfortunately for Twilight, this trend will continue – after a whole day of fun activities, he's devastated to see the scowl on Anya's face when they're having dinner that evening. And, once again, he blames himself and even thinks that Anya could possibly hate him.
Tumblr media
As I've mentioned before, Twilight is always cool and confident when it comes to his spy missions, but whenever Yor or Anya are upset, he becomes a second-guessing nervous wreck! It's telling how frazzled he gets when trying to figure out what's going on in their minds versus anyone else. If Anya and Yor's happiness is tied to a mission, and he's always calm and collected about his other missions, why would he get so bent out of shape about them in particular? I think we all know the answer to that.
It's also important to note that the couple of days on the cruise are likely the longest amount of time Twilight has been alone with Anya, without having Yor for parenting support. If she were with him during all this, there's no doubt that her patience with Anya's antics and the encouraging words she always offers, would put his mind at ease. But without her around, there's no one to buffer his constant freak outs when trying to analyze the mind of a child. His anxiety gets so bad that Anya even starts to feel bad about it.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the big showdown on the deck between Yor and the assassins has so far been the most gritty and violent scene in the series. Endo has stated in the fanbook that making Yor likable while also giving her a profession that involves killing people, was difficult (though I think he's done a stellar job!) A reoccurring theme in Spy x Family is how the tragedy of war has led to otherwise good people partaking in immoral acts, whether for survival or because they're brainwashed into thinking that the side they're on is the right and just one. It's not only Twilight and Yor, but other characters as well, such as Yuri, Sylvia, even the young terrorists from the doggy crisis arc, as well as the assassins on the cruise – the factions that they work for, the politics behind their decisions, and the jobs they're assigned to do, are not framed as heroic nor completely evil, only the aftermath of political turmoil that the next generation has to suffer for.
Tumblr media
In Part 13, I mentioned an interview in the fanbook where Endo states that the Forgers should not be seen as virtuous role models…he doesn't think it's correct to only see their "nice family" side. Despite all the comedic antics in the series that sometimes stretch the veil of realism, one very realistic aspect is that none of the characters are depicted as "black and white," "heroes and villains," and their professions are portrayed as more tragic and ugly than "cool." This is in contrast to other shonen series, where the main protagonists are often portrayed as role models who fight for noble causes we can't help but support, while banishing only the most wicked of villains. And often these protagonists started out "normal" only to suddenly gain superpowers, opportunities to go on grand adventures, and have big battles against villains. But Twilight and Yor are the opposite. The series starts with them already having extraordinary abilities and exciting, dangerous jobs, so the end goal is instead for them to be able to attain a peaceful, normal life…because their professions aren't framed as wish-fulfilling but as heartbreaking, grim, and sometimes terrifying.
Tumblr media
Twilight and Yor's professions, as well as those of pretty much every other character in Spy x Family, have a lot of gray areas on the moral compass. This is why having a balance of both fun, slice-of-life scenarios, and spy/political action and drama conflicts, brings out the true complexity of the characters. Twilight may lie and act cold as ice towards people during his missions, but because we get to know him while he's living as Loid Forger, we can see that he's doing it for a noble cause, and underneath all that callous calculating, he's a compassionate guy who cares about the feelings of others. Likewise, we see that when she's not killing people, Yor is a total sweetheart who doesn't have a mean bone in her body, is a loving mother to Anya, selfless sister to Yuri, and, like Twilight, she does what she does because she truly believes she's doing good in the world.
If we only see Twilight and Yor as a spy and assassin, our view of them could be skewed negatively. On the other hand, if we only see them as a "nice family," we would be doing exactly what Endo warned against in his interview. But because we get to see both sides of them, we're able to relate to them even more, which makes us want to root for them. Is the immorality of their jobs too much to be forgiven, or are they righteous people who are simply victims of a cold war? Obviously if you're a fan of the series like me, you're opt to lean towards the positive view that Twilight, Yor, as well as many of the other characters, have been sorely damaged by the post-war era that they live in, but the commendable things they do far outweigh the ugliness of their professions, so they deserve a happy ending. And that's really the main appeal of the series – with all the gray areas of morality, seeing whether they can truly live happily without lies is something to look forward to.

Reo, Nagi, and Reo and Nagi
Getting lots of thoughts about Nagi and Reo in anticipation for the new epinagi chapter cus I'm just nervous and they have lots of brainrot potential. Like they're just so cute but also heartbreaking but also but also- not just together but separate too.
Reo
I get lots of thoughts about how Reo interprets reality. Like, he's just so delusional sometimes?? Like from the light novel
"Although Reo's strength was a modest number, his speed, stamina, agility, and jumping ability already surpassed the youth team's average. However, Reo was greatly unsatisfied, thinking, 'I'm so lame'" I understand being dissatisfied with average among the best, but thinking that you're lame... The perfectionism also shows in how he insists that Nagi make it clear when he's not good enough for them to play together as the best in the world, when Nagi starts out complimenting him. He seems to have self esteem issues in general. There's also when Nagi left, and in Epinagi he wonders if Nagi thinks he'll make it past 2nd selection, and asks why when Chigiri and Kunigami want him to join their team, surprised at their answer.
Tumblr media
Then there's when Nagi thanks Reo for introducing him to soccer and Reo is so shocked, he thinks Nagi is dying. And when its established that Nagi is not dying, Reo says that he's matured, which I would interpret as Reo simply not taking that thanks as true gratefulness, but rather politeness that Nagi has matured into giving, since he's usually so insensitive. He doesn't consider that maybe Nagi has felt this way for awhile, and simply wanted to express his honest thoughts because he thinks it can't be true, to some extent. Or at least that's how I read it.
Tumblr media
But as someone who knows how straightforward Nagi is, I feel like he should know that Nagi is just straightforwardly expressing his emotions. Reo sees, he just can't bring himself to believe or trust in it..
I mean, I'll be honest a lot of his delulu moments come from how he interprets his relationship with Nagi. And I think he's aware of it too- that irrational emotion that overwhelms him when it comes to Nagi. I think its because he let his guard down, and got really attached.
As Reo says, "He might be able to experience a storm of infatuation and obsession with this person. No. He can definitely do so."
(Also, can I just take this moment to make fun of Reo for saying this immediately after "The fact that he's playing games by himself during lunch break means that he's a game otaku. Zero exercise factor..." , "The face that looked up at him had an emotionless and cold expression...It was so drained of spirit that Reo thought that he looked half dead.", and "That person thinks that Reo will give him money if he asks for it. Weirdo." Like what haha)
And, the thing is, theres some evidence in epinagi that Reo is very aware of this weakness of his, and hates it. Like, he seems so crazy in the anime during the toothbrush pulling additional time, and even his response to Nagi leaving him behind for Isagi seems pretty extreme from an outsider perspective (I think some people will disagree with me?), since Nagi isn't saying they should stop being friends, nor is he denouncing Reo as a whole. He just wants to play soccer with someone else for a bit. If you take a step back from the metaphor of playing together as a romantic relationship, this really isn't that unreasonable? But it causes Reo to develop a vendetta against Nagi. It almost makes it seem like Reo is upset that he got his thing taken away from him, with how much he apparently needed to play on the same team as Nagi always. (This isn't the case). It's a jealous obsession, and you can see Reo's awareness of this in chapter 14 of Epinagi
"I dont want to remember. We've both moved on to new teams. I should cut my feelings short there. All I'm doing is dragging it out. I wonder if he even thinks I'll advance to the next round? If I wash out here, what'll happen to him? He told me we'd be together until the end... But he left me. What if he's living it up with Isagi and he's already forgotten about me? These thoughts just keep running through my head. Over and Over..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The conclusion being- "I hate myself right now". There's an interpretation of this involving the relationship=soccer metaphor, but tbh I kinda refuse to go along with that because I think its much more interesting to see Reo's interpretation of playing soccer with Nagi being the same as being friends with Nagi as like a misinterpretation on Reo's part, rather than some kinda metaphor-made-reality thing. And I think by the way this is prompted by Kunigiri banter instead of anything soccer related makes it clear that this is not about soccer. If it was about soccer, the action that would trigger Reo's feelings would be Kunigiri doing some sorta soccer combo, not them being super good friends.
(Epinagi really is a gay shoujo romance masquerading as a sports shonen manga ehehehe)
In any case! We can see with this final sentence that he can't stop thinking about Nagi and hates himself for it. Can also see him being delulu with the Nagi/Isagi besties thing lol. Also, the way he says "We've both moved on to new teams. I should cut my feelings short there." it really does seem like Reo equates playing with Nagi to being able to be friends with him, and I think part of what plays into this is Reo's insecurity. I mean, he's been shown to view relationships as somewhat transactional, right? With how he brings Team Y together with food bargaining, with how he gets his highschool team together using similar bargaining tactics, by promising them idols and fancy meat, with his relationship with his parents where they will only let him pursue soccer if he can prove that he can become one of the best. Even in his relationship with Nagi, he spoils him a lot in return for being able to use his talent. Everything is conditional.
In that context, it kinda makes sense why Reo assumes everything is over when Nagi no longer needs him for soccer. Reo doesn't really get that even if Nagi doesn't improve through Reo or need Reo, that Nagi would still want to be partners, because its never really been like that for Reo. The focus his parents put on rationality and practicality and performance also helps to explain why he's so bad at figuring out what to do with his obsessive/jealous feelings, and why he hates himself for it. He's not allowed to be emotional or imperfect, so he was never taught how to deal with those feelings. I mean I think in general, always being the competent person good at pleasing the masses, at popularity, at everything, does not prepare one well for these kinda things. Having emotions beyond your control, I think.
Even beyond this, we can see how Nagi has effected him emotionally in how his dreams change. Getting Nagi was originially all for winning the World Cup, but somewhere along the way, it got to the point where when they entered Bluelock, Reo's goal wasn't to become the best himself so that he could win the World Cup, but rather to make Nagi the Best. A goal that literally has nothing to do with winning the world cup...
It makes me SO CURIOUS where he's at by 207. I think before Nagi asked him for help he'd managed to bury them, and make a path toward abandoning them entirely. Afterwards? I don't think he's gotten any better. He's still possessive, seems to want Nagi to have eyes only for him, and when Nagi gets sappy with him he laughs it off and refuses to accept it. When he dismisses Nagi's thanks as deathbed confessions, was it to protect himself from trusting? Knowing how little Reo thinks Nagi thinks of him, it seems like something he would have been overjoyed to hear, which really makes his response seem like a cautious dismissal. Especially his panel of shock, I wonder if there's that fear of assuming too much again, getting too close again. I'm really curious.
Nagi
Nagi gives me brainrot in a less angsty way, since he started so low that things can only really go up from him now. He went from having to buy a cactus to talk to to having a rich bf who adored him and did everything for him, to being able to escape his apathy and develop a passion that he really seems to be enjoying. Reo really made his life better and he knows it - writes poetry to Reo in his head constantly, joined a weird soccer cult for Reo, even after Reo slapped him away, Nagi remained dedicated to their dream. If Reo is underconfident in the security of the Nagireo situationship, Nagi is overconfident. He really seems to think Reo can read his mind? Lol.
Even so, because he's less soccer obsessed, he's at least a bit more grounded. He doesn't mind if Reo plays with people better than him, didnt want to join Bluelock because he didn't want him and Reo to be rivals, all that really seemed to matter to him at first was being with Reo. So, while Reo equated their partnership to being a soccer duo, Nagi saw it as an extension of their friendship. Unlike Reo, He's not particularly possessive. Like I said, he said he wouldn't mind if Reo chose to play with another player at the start. But he does care a lot about him - gets angry at Barou, plays soccer for him (at the start), wants piggyback rides, lets him pet his head... It really feels like while Reo needs Nagi more, Nagi admires Reo more, trusts him more, has more faith. It's quieter, but arguably more intense. (Reo fell first Nagi fell harder agenda) He actually seems to have an idealized vision of Reo in his head - An example of him thinking of Reo as greater and more perfect than the real person would be when he tells a despairing Isagi that Reo wouldn't act like this, and then epinagi jumps straight to a despairing Reo. Nagi really thinks Reo is more perfect than he actually is. Rose colored glasses. Wonder how this would interact with Reo's perfectionism.
There's that one interaction with Zantetsu I really like where Zantetsu asks him why he plays football and Nagi replies that its because of Reo, and all he's doing is tagging along. Zantetsu recognizes that Nagi, the hassle guy, is certainly doing a lot for Reo and asks what's so great about him, to which Nagi replies that its the first time anyone has been interested in a slacker like him
Tumblr media
To which Zantentsu responds " ...You're down bad for Reo a wierdo." and "You're so loyal don't seem like a bad guy".
There uh wasnt really a point to that. I just wanted to talk about it because the respect they have for each others motives lives rent free in my head. And I think its interesting how Zantetsu immediately gets how much Reo means to Nagi, but Reo still doesn't understand after all this time.
Something I wonder is if part of the reason why Nagi is so bad at communicating and anticipating Reo's emotions is because he was apathetic and friendless for so long - disconnected from the world. Or well, I do theorize that part of his communication issues come from talking exclusively to a cactus for awhile.
Episode Nagi vs. Blue Lock
One image that I think really illustrates the difference between Epinagi and the main manga is Isagi's flabbergasted face when Nagi is having that moment with Reo where his hand gets slapped away.
Tumblr media
He's so confused because they are not speaking his language. Reo's all like "you didn't choose me" And Isagi is like "And what does this have to do with soccer?"
Tumblr media
Meanwhile once Reo switches gears to "I'll crush you" (expressing some form of ego/competition) Isagi is back to being the soccer manga MC.
It makes me wonder tho what's in store for our duo. Because in the main manga, they're back together, but they're not doing so great (if you look at the greater picture). There's tons of foreshadowing that Nagi is meant to fall from grace after reuniting with Reo, with Ego saying he'll get overconfident because of that dangerous goal, and Agi saying he's lost interest, as well as Isagi himself saying that there will be no more miracle goals. In the context of the main manga, it seems like while being a duo makes Reo and Nagi happy, its bad for their football. In the grander theme of Egoism, Reo seems doomed due to playing for Nagi instead of himself (tho this may not be as much of an issue due to his goal not being becoming a striker necessarily), and Nagi seems doomed because he's so comfortable with Reo that he won't experience despair and grow. The solution to this seems to be another fight or separation, maybe from Reo this time (thus breaking my heart).
However, from Episode Nagi's perspective, them being together in some fashion is integral to Nagi's goals. The manga starts with a remark on Reo's effect on Nagi, and so a permanent separation seems unlikely.
So is the ReoNagi duo good or bad for their soccer? It may function well if they reach some sort of arrangement that satisfies the ego rhetoric of the main manga, though I'm not sure what that would be. From the perspective of the main manga though, I can't see the duo ending well. From the perspective of Episode Nagi, however, their duo has to be maintained. It feels like two contradicting forces pulling at each other. How could this be resolved? There are some possibilities.
One possibility (though I don't like it so much) is becoming egoistic rivals who play together and push each other to their limits. The reason I don't like this is because this concept of rivalry and devouring is too similar to the main manga, and its kinda boring for a spinoff to take so much effort to just tell the same story in a different font.
Another possibility is that they fail in the main manga, and the spinoff is a tragedy about how Reo's discovery of Nagi doomed his soccer? Not a fan of this one because it would make me a lil sad. Though maybe it would be paired with the emergence of a friendship or relationship (I am not optimistic enough to hope for romance so at most hinted) that does not rely on soccer. It'd be a cool subversion, if a bit unsatisfying to see their dream abandoned. Honestly, I'd find this kinda path to be very interesting, but it seems to risky for it to actually be taken. It would explore the negative impact of tying your relationships to the sport, and suggest a mindset of happiness above mindless success. Seems risky though... very risky and subversive. And given the codependent nature of some sport duos, very satisfying to see the necessary separation of sport and friendship explored. Taking a positive spin, that would mean that because Reo is the one that nurtured Nagi's soccer genius, Nagi doesnt become the best soccer player but he does end up being happy :)
Another possibility would be Nagi just straight up leaving Reo and keeping him in thoughts only. That would hurt tho. Make me sad and depressed. I dont know if Reo could survive this.
Maybe Reo learns to motivate Nagi by becoming so good that now Nagi has to chase him instead of the way it was the other way round before. Not a fan of the manipulation undertones to that, so it may depend on the execution. Also just doesn't make much sense to me since it doesnt seem sustainable. Though maybe it could just be Reo learning to give Nagi more space to grow, and their friendship could just mend on the side separately. That could be nice.
Something else that doesn't seem likely to me, but I would like is for the point of Episode Nagi to be for Nagi and Reo to disentangle their situationship from its dependence on soccer, freeing them to be individual egoists while not necessarily pitting them against each other as rivals. This allows them to develop by the standards of the main manga, though it does make them a bit boring since they wouldn't really be taking an alternate path to star strikerhood. I like this path though because disentangling the situationship from soccer would have to involve them COMMUNICATING THEIR FEELINGS such that Nagi understood Reo's needs/insecurities and Reo understood Nagi's devotion. Reo would get affirmation that regardless of his performance, Nagi would still be his partner outside of soccer. And Nagi could be his, but outside of soccer. And they don't need each other. They want to be around each other. And I also think that a story leaning away from the codependency could show that once you realize you can function without the other, it makes it all the more meaningful when you choose to be together anyways. Because it's not a need, but a want. A want powerful enough to last.
But that would really solidify that Epinagi is not about soccer, and while I joke that it is not about soccer, because it really doesn't feel like it is, I cant quite trust that it isn't because it is a spinoff of a soccer manga.
Something else that could happen is Nagi finding that his ego is realizing his and Reo's dream.. something that is romantic, but given how his ego and interest was kickstarted by Isagi seems a lil unlikely? But not impossible. Just because it was kickstarted by Bluelock doesnt mean it can't manifest and be fueled with Reo. ehhh idk if this really fits with the concept of Ego tho. I also feel like this won't force them to communicate or help Reo be more focused on his own performance, as opposed to only Nagi's goals (something I think he has to do, since serving Nagi makes him predictable and is reminiscent of that transactional relationship thing I mentioned earlier that he should probably learn is not the case). It would be consistent with the start and focus of epinagi tho.
At the end of the day, I don't know what will happen. Sure is fun to theorize tho!! :D
Nagireo, Reonagi
From a shipping perspective, I think their relationship is so interesting because its so complicated, and influences their lives so much. They are also polar opposites in a way that highlights their personalities. I think a meaningful exploration of Nagireo inevitably becomes an exploration of Nagi and Reo as characters. I'm not usually a fan of the miscommunication trope, but its a little different with these two because it really makes sense to me that they would miscommunicate- in fact, it seems inevitable that they would end up misunderstanding each other. Because of that, the misunderstanding feels meaningful instead of frustratingly inserted or forced.
Nagi idolizes Reo because Reo saved him from apathy. And because Nagi was apathetic and disengaged from society for so long, his communication skills suck, and he probably has a habit of not putting as much effort into conversations. When you combine those things, of course Nagi would act like Reo can read his mind.
Reo is used to getting what he wants, deems anything below genius boring or lame, and thus doesn't necessarily think highly of himself despite his accomplishments and hardworking nature - especially if you take into account his upbringing and parents. He feels trapped, and finds freedom in playing soccer with Nagi. With the transactional way Reo views relationships (I wonder, what it means for someone who views things as transactional to give so much to someone?) , and his perfectionism, it makes sense that the moment he wasn't the center of Nagi's world, he'd come away with the most despairing interpretation. An interpretation Nagi would be really bad at correcting.
So really, a misunderstanding feels inevitable with those two. Reo assumes the worst, Nagi is the worst at anticipating that and correcting it.
Despite that, I really like them together, not because they're the most functional, but because they care about each other. I really get why Nagi would be so grateful and devoted to someone that helped that drowning dull sense of apathy subside, giving him a chance to live an explore a world that didn't previously feel like his. And I really get why Reo would crave the freedom that Nagi granted him by making soccer possible for him. And also I think he kinda likes how much of a loser Nagi is lol, because its unconventional, and therefore interesting.
And I also get that sense of insecurity and drive, like if you fail you're nothing, and all your relationships depend on your success and ability to prove your skill - if you can't do the thing you're worthless and if you're worthless you're alone.
And also the loneliness of apathy, the sense that you're in your own world and there's no one around..
And I really feel like that devotion could help heal that wounded pride, and that sort of gleeful drive could really drive the apathy away...
The comfort in that is precious, I think

General LU Headcanons Part 2
Tumblr media
Here's part 2 of my general headcanons and how I see/write the boys! This one will have Sky Warrior and Wild!
Part 1 Part 3
Sky
Always sleep the exact amount of time needed to feel fully rested
He won't wake up before that, unless they're under attack of course
He's a really heavy sleeper and snores quite a bit
He doesn't know what to think of the fact that destroying his stuff has become kind of a habit now
Between Hyrule showing off, Wild cooking with explosives, of all things, and Time accidentally dropping his bag into a pit
He's not even upset about it, because they've all been accidents, and nothing valuable has been lost, but still
They always help him get his stuff back, but it just keeps happening for some reasons
He starts to think it's payback for Demise's curse
He loves getting lost in towns
It's a way of discovering a new place that he grew fond of, for some reason
Especially when he finds little places in towns that are clearly not visited often, it feels like he discovered a beautiful little secret
He feels special
He'll sometimes try to get or carve a little trinket to the others from places they've been to, as he's really into gift giving
He has a lot of composure when it comes to injuries, but he doesn't like the smell of it
He'll help if they need to, but he'd rather do the caregiving part than first aid
It's even worse with illnesses
He gets kind of paranoid, but at least that makes him really good at keeping a good hygiene, even in a not so clean environment
He won't be on babysitting duty if germs are involved, but he'll keep everything nice and clean to make sure no one else contracts it
Warrior
Light sleeper
He moves a lot in his sleep, and sometimes wakes himself up like that
He's one of the first one to rise up in the morning but always stays in bed late
He likes listening to the sounds of the world still peacefully asleep around him
Despite being a high graded knight, he doesn't easily trust the military
Or maybe it's because he's so high ranked that he can see how corruptible it can be
And after hearing some of the stories the other told him, he's even more on guard
He does trust his soldiers tho, and hopes his teammates will trust them too if they end up in his Hyrule
He always indulges in shenanigans when Wind is the one asking for it
Hyrule can wear him down too, but not as much
He pretends it's to keep an eye on them, but the guy loves his fun too
Very fond of old people
Will always help them carry groceries or cross a road or something
And always with a dashing smile. They reward him with candy sometimes, and he keeps it all to himself
He knows how to charm his way into getting answers from people, but he sucks at bargaining and can get scammed easily, which is why Legend comes with him whenever they need a supply run
He learned first aid during the War, and learned to improvise when he needed to, so he's the first one to start checking on everyone after a fight
He'll do a general check up on everyone, rank injuries by severity, and then get to work to tend to them
If at least two others are in good enough shape, he'll point them to where they need to help, so everyone can be taken care of before it gets too bad
Hyrule's composure and Wild's endless potion stash are his best allies in this situation
Wild
Nightmares
He swear they're more memories than nightmares
He rarely remembers them, to his endless frustration
He wakes up early most of the time, but often in a good mood
He loves making breakfast for everyone, but loves it even more when one of them joins him to help
He just likes sharing stuff he knows, so sharing knowledge about his favorite activity? Sign him up
He kind of stopped hoping he could teach anything about cooking to Hyrule tho, but he understands potion crafting at least
Wild makes most of them so they don't have to buy them
He doesn't know shit about traditional medecine tho, he runs on potions only
Very ingenious, but always in the wrong way
As in, he has a curious mind and good ideas, but it's always to do some fucked up dangerous stunt
Twilight tries to stop him most of the time, but he lost all of his authority on him the day they all learned he shot himself out of a canon on his first adventure
Wild has been on the loose since then
He often go on exploring trips on his own when they set up camp in a new place, he needs his alone time
He loves the group! But he got used to being alone for months, and sometimes being around that many people for too long can be too much
They don't mind, tho
Ironically, he hates seeing injuries, but doesn't mind scavenging monster viscera to make stronger potions
A broken finger? A deep cut? He's not looking
But butchering a bokoblin and carving out its organs with a rusty knife? Yeah why not
He wishes he had more time to craft more potions, or to go collect more materials for said potions
So he could just hand over the potions to everyone instead of holding onto wet bandages to stop the bleedings, or hold his friend down when his other friend puts bones back in place
It's gross. He's gonna focus on the potions

Any thoughts on the casting for The Last of Us season 2?
Oh god. So many.
So, I actually have all of TLOU show related tags blocked - because just seeing mentions of the show gets me kind of ticked. I miss the strike era when production of the show was delayed indefinitely.
But as far as the casting - I think Dina's casting is alright. I was one of those people who was naively hoping that Cascina would actually get to play Dina in the show, but I knew realistically that was never actually gonna happen.
Abby's casting however - I genuinely think that Kaitlyn Denver is a horrible choice. Like they looked up all the people who absolutely cannot play Abby and then they picked her.
Someone said that she looks like young Ellie - and I think for a long time, she was a popular fancast for Ellie. And to me, she looks like she can maybe only play young Abby in flashbacks. So unless they're gonna completely surprise people and only have her playing young Abby and then have someone else playing the real main timeline version of Abby - it won't work.
If you guys know me, then you know that I am incredibly protective of Abby's character. And based on the complete bastardization that they did of Season 1/TLOU 1, I already knew that they were going to royally fuck up Abby's character in some way.
And yes, I am basing most of my opinions on the fact that she is small and thin and Abby is supposed to be muscled, but people don't understand how pivotal that aesthetic is as a part of Abby's characterization.
(And they were never going to find someone perfect unless they used 2 different actors - one for flashbacks and one for the main timeline - because Abby gets ripped over years but it is shown in one short story, and her model was made with 2 different people - one for the face and one for the body, so they could keep her face on a younger, thinner body in flashbacks.)
Abby being muscled is actually a pivotal thing - it means she is feared and respected among the WLF, it means that Lev and Yara immediately fall in and trust to follow her through the woods because they view her as a protector when they are vulnerable and alone. Her body is a tool that is useful to her - it makes her completely immune to Isaac's violence right up until the moment she looks him in the eyes and asks him not to shoot Lev, and even then, he is asking her to step away from Lev so that he doesn't have to kill his best solider.
Isaac was more willing to kill Owen - thinking of Owen as disposable - than he was willing to kill Abby. And I think that breach of our society's typical sexism (where a man is always a better fighter, Abby supersedes that) in their post apocalyptic world, is really, truly shown by Abby's large stature.
Not only that, but it makes her physical malnutrition and how much she has wasted away because of the Rattlers that much more shocking. (Which, if they were going to depict that, it would be easy to do so with a heavily muscled actor and then make them look shockingly thin with CGI and makeup - but that scene is one of the reasons why video games are sometimes a better format. It being 100% computer generated means no actors had to be harmed during those scenes.)
Also (I wish I had screenshots of the specific lines) - but Abby and Owen's breakup at the Aquarium is about her training (her urge to gain muscle in order to aid of her long term revenge mission toward Joel) - Owen is surprised when Abby says she can bench press 140 pounds, and therefore, she can easily lift him. And Owen is insulted that Abby wants to spend more time training than she does with him - he is upset that her trauma and her revenge has overtaken her life to the point where she doesn't want to goof off watching spotted seals, and instead - just wants to train more.
And this leads more into the dynamic of - Owen is a disposable pawn (who pretends to take a pacifist stance when he's really a coward) and Abby has to vouch for his life with Isaac because she is infinitely more valued in the organization.
There is just a lot of layers to it - and they're already fucking it up.
I am trying my hardest to ignore the fact that she show exists, but it's actively lowering the IQ of the fandom every single day, and now I am gonna have to take braindead Abby takes from people who have only seen the show, and I genuinely wish it had never been made in the first place.

Heyyy can I request the Baki cast with an s/o who once had an ass but lost it thanks to weight loss and now they feel super insecure about it?
Pls and thank youuuu (if you don’t want to then pls ignore me)
Of course! My pleasure to oblige!
Baki:
Once again, more of a chest guy, but once he finds out that you're insecure about your butt then he's going to do his best to get your confidence back up. So what if there's less there now? There's still enough for him to grab, and frankly, he thinks you're perfect just the way you are.
He'll hype you up every chance he gets. Are you wearing new pants? Oh he's going to do a double-take and tell you that your ass looks great in those.
He's still a really touchy guy, so if he walks past you he'll still grab your hips or give your butt a little smack. He's down bad for you, no matter what your features may be, because to him, you're perfect.
That being said, he is tragic with words, so at some point he might find an old picture of you and go "damn, you were so thick!" or something like that not realizing immediately that that might upset you.
Kozue:
She understands body insecurity, she used to be really insecure about her body herself, she sometimes catches herself thinking that she could be taller or curvier, or maybe her eyes could have been lighter or darker. But the second she hears that you're insecure because of something, that's it, she's stepping up.
You don't like how small your butt is? You're going with her to the gym after school to do some squats, get you a proper cake, and it has the added bonus of you two being able to spend time with Baki, who is generally a ray of sunshine.
She's going to hype you up as much as possible, lots of telling you that you're beautiful and perfect. Is that an excuse for her to grab your ass? No, but she'll use it as one. She means it in a playful and reaffirming way, of course.
Hanayama:
He doesn't get insecurity. I mean, yeah, he understands how some people wouldn't find him attractive because his scars, but is he insecure about them? No.
That being said, he gives very quiet reassurance. If you're upset or feeling down, he's there, and he's going to talk it out with you. By the end of it, you probably end up really emotional because he's trying to logic this out, and he just winds up confused as to why you're upset.
He's got money, so if you're open to the idea and think it would help with your own self-esteem, he's willing to pay for you to go get some work done. He wants you to be happy with yourself.
That being said, he's terrified to bring up the suggestion. He doesn't want you to take it the wrong way, but he doesn't want you being insecure and upset with yourself. He'll suggest other ways first, of course, but if you want results faster then he'll make the offer as gently as possible.
Chiharu:
Bruh fym you don't like your ass?? He LOVES your ass! It's an ass! Butts are great! As a matter of fact, let him give you a list of reasons why your butt is great and perfect and why you should let him see it all the time.
For real, he doesn't understand why you'd be insecure. It's not like your ass is concave, that's pretty hard to do (and definitely not healthy, your muscles are in a bad state if they're bending the opposite way bestie, he is worried then). You still have two buttcheeks, and those = ass. Ass is ass, and he loves yours.
He'll make jokes about his own ass being flat just to distract you from whatever sad train of thought you're on. We all know his ass isn't flat, none of these men have a flat ass, but the sheer absurdity of things that come out of his mouth is insanely distracting.
He'll still bite your ass if given the chance. No hesitation or remorse, he's feral, get him his rabies shots asap.
Katsumi:
He's very practical about how to solve the issue. He's on top of it, once you tell him you feel insecure he's off doing research on how to boost self esteem. At one point, he's dragging you along on his morning workouts, he has you pull cards from a positive affirmation jar, he helps you with a skincare routine, reminds you to drink more water, all of it.
He wants to help you feel more secure overall, not just about one particular thing, and he's got the resources to do so. He's going to use those resources. If he needs to call his mom and have her bring you some soup, he will, don't test him.
He doesn't really have any insecurities, Katsumi is a pretty confident man most of the time when it comes to his looks, he knows he's handsome, but he might open up about some of his deeper insecurities.
He wants you both to be able to improve on areas that you're insecure on, and he's confident that with your help, he can become a far more confident person.
Jack:
He gets body insecurity, honestly. He's proud of where he is, don't get him wrong, but he knows what it's like probably better than anyone else in this lineup, and sometimes he looks at himself and sees all of his flaws. Fortunately, when you mention your own, he knows what to do.
You wind up getting dragged to a mirror with him standing behind you, making you list out every flaw, and with every word about what you see wrong, he tells you three things he sees as beautiful. He will make you cry.
After he makes you ugly sob and ruin his sweater (he doesn't care, he can wash it, duh) he's going to start dragging you along with him to the gym. He can push it pretty hard, he knows that, but with you, it's about teaching you to gain confidence and learn healthier habits.
He's willing to take time out of his workout to help you. Trying a deadlift? He's telling you the proper form, demonstrating, coaching your form and then watching you do your first lift. Bench-pressing? He's your spotter, and he's incredibly attentive about it. He is behind you the entire time, and he wants you to know that.
Kosho:
He's really quiet the first time you tell him about your insecurity, and honestly, you'd be forgiven for thinking that he doesn't care. It's not until you finish talking and might start crying that he passes you a box of tissues, pulls you into a hug and starts talking about his own insecurities as well.
It turns into a mini-therapy session for the both of you. Sometimes all we need is to get our burdens off of our chests for a little while with someone who understands and we can trust.
He never used to have so many scars, especially the ones all over his face, and while he sees them as a badge of honor and a reminder of what can go wrong, they still change how he also views himself.
He'll make it a point for you both to say something nice about yourselves and each-other before you both turn in for the night. If he thinks you haven't said anything good about yourself, he's going to sit there and wait until you do.
Kureha:
He gets you a therapist right away. He deals with a lot all day, but he's also not able to help you delve into insecurity and address it in a healthy way. He does slip a bit into his professional self, where he'll sit up a bit straighter and use that one Calm Doctor tone.
He wants you to feel better, but he's good at healing bodies, not minds. He knows that you'll need support to get through your insecurities though, so he'll tone down the bitchiness a little bit. He knows when it's appropriate and when it isn't.
This being said, he's not afraid of being a complete jerk to get you mad at him instead of upset at yourself, even for a few minutes. He's very good at pissing people off, it's a natural talent of his.
He does take the time to appreciate every part of you. If there's an insecurity about one part, there's bound to be more about other parts, and he's going to make sure that you see yourself as perfectly as he does.
Retsu:
This man is like a warm hug coming in from the cold. He might not understand entirely, but he knows that you're not feeling well about yourself, and he'll do his best to help you feel as loved as possible. You're precious to him, and he wants you to feel good about yourself.
This man's cooking can fix *ANYTHING* I swear. You're crying about something? He made you soup, and now it's all better. Your eyes might be puffy from crying and your nose might be runny, but you have nice warm tasty soup and a blanket, your man is right there with you, telling you that everything is going to be okay.
Did I mention that this man, given the chance, could write poetry about how much he loves you? Yeah, no, this is one of the circumstances that he will do so and read it to you. It's the most flamboyant for of positive affirmation out there, but it's a good one.
If making you feel better involves worshiping you like the lovely person you are, he'll do so without any hesitation. You can rest easy feeling that he has an answer to every problem you might have.
Doppo:
He listens to your admission about not liking that part of yourself with a very serious and stern face, and then he gets up, grabs his coat and tells you to get ready and to come with him, that you're both going somewhere.
You might think that it's somewhere quiet and sweet, but no, he takes you to a funhouse with those mirrors that make everything look warped. He makes you stand in front of all of them so you two can see how silly you look, but then he makes you stand in front of a normal mirror, kisses your cheek and tells you how beautiful you look.
He tries his best to make you feel better in the goofiest, most dad-like way of them all. It might work, it might not, but he's not going to stop doing it either. Give him the chance and he'll keep doing it until you see what he's trying to do, and that is to help you understand that no matter how you see yourself, he can always see you, and he wants you to know that you're perfect.
He offers support and solutions, choosing one won't exclude the other, it's dependent on what you want and what you need to feel better.
Natsue:
This woman is a MOTHER. You tell her you're not feeling good about your body and she's on top of it. She's immediately reassuring you that that's normal, that everyone, at some point in time, doesn't like how they look in the mirror, and that you're not alone in that.
She'll try and help you come to terms with what you don't like about yourself. If it's a smaller butt than before you lost weight, she'll try and help you figure out what about that you don't like so you can figure out (together, because she's not making you do this alone) what steps you feel you need to take to feel better.
This is the kind of woman to hold your hand and tell you that you're stunning and she genuinely means it, it's obvious in the way that she holds you and looks at you, all of it.
Lots of reassuring touches, like squeezing your shoulders or holding your hand, even rubbing your back. She is here for you, just like she's there for her boys, even if they don't need the same as you do.
Shibukawa:
He's going to teach you to laugh about it. You may think "but that's not gonna help-" Au contraire, my dear reader! Laughing about your insecurities can be very healthy, because instead of making it a source of pain and discomfort, he teaches you to associate looking at yourself with joy and laughter.
Laughter itself just makes people feel a heck of a lot better, and he knows that all too well. Sometimes all we can do is laugh at something. Does it immediately help? No, not really, but time is both gentle and cruel, and you have a lot of time left to change and grow.
He'll tell you about how he used to hate how much smaller he was getting with age, how much he hated his greying hair and loosening skin, but now? This is one of the most confident men you will ever meet, because while it may suck to change, it means that you're still alive, and that's pretty good, all things considered!
He'll hold your hand every time he sees you staring at yourself in the mirror looking upset, because while he's trying to teach you to laugh and love the changes you'll go through, he knows that sometimes it pays to have someone by your side during the process.

Really doubling all the way down on the depersoning in all the worst ways.
Tumblr media
Yeah. I think there are...
Tumblr media
Initially, the creators are in a position of power, sure. Power tends to balance out over time as tulpas become more developed.
Although, with the parent and child comparison in mind, you wouldn't say it's unethical for people to create children just because there's going to be an unequal power dynamic. And children are often created for somewhat selfish reasons, ranging from the parents wanting to leave a legacy to them wanting to experience the joys of parenthood.
I rather like the Golden Rule of Tulpamancy mentioned in the tulpanomicon.
Don’t create a tulpa for reasons you would be upset about being created for.
And generally speaking, yeah, forced dissipation is seen as highly immoral within the tulpa community. Some tulpas have even been traumatized by hosts trying to dissipate them.
Although we don't believe dissipation is an actual thing. I believe once a tulpa is created, it's in the brain forever. But it can go dormant, which is why I don't think consensual "dissipation" is harmful. It's just choosing to go into a long sleep.
The thing is, the tulpa community has grappled with these ethical quandaries for a while. This isn't exactly new to us.
Tumblr media
So, let me see if I'm understanding this correctly... In their minds, the issue with the personhood philosophy is that they have to think about ethics of how they treat their headmates?
"None of [the ethical considerations] apply to DID systems because DID systems are recognized to be parts of the same unit."
Like, their problem doesn't seem to actually be that tulpamancers sometimes make tulpas and later dissipate them... but that this forced dissipation would be considered unethical because we're people?
The parts approach is better for the anon because then it would be ethical for me to be dissipated by my host since I'm not an actual person, but we're all just part of one? Is... is that what they're saying here? Please tell me that I'm misinterpreting this, because frankly, this is one of the most harmful and toxic takes I've seen.
I will never say that parts language is bad. There are obviously plenty of systems who have benefitted from it. But if you're using parts language specifically because you want to dodge any "ethical concerns" over how you treat your headmates and give you a free pass, ethically speaking, to harm them in all the ways this describes tulpas being potentially harmed... that's a terrifying position.
And the fact that apparently so many in these "neutral" or "anti-misinformation" circles support this position makes it so much worse.
REGARDLESS OF SYSTEM TYPE, HARMING HEADMATES SHOULD BE CONSIDERED UNETHICAL!
(Note: Just remember that what constitutes harm for headmates varies from system to system. For example, physical harm in inner worlds can be extremely traumatizing for some, but literally nothing to others.)
Do you want to know why the "people" philosophy works for systems who use it?
It's BECAUSE of those ethical considerations you want to avoid. Because we see care about each other and view hurting each other as being every bit as immoral as hurting someone outside of the system.

One of my primary beliefs is that anyone who wants to solve or mitigate a problem should care about correctly understanding the causes of that problem. And I find that often, people prefer to make assumptions about what causes the problem and then get upset when you challenge their assumptions, even when you're right.
I think those of us who are activists have a tendency to notice when people with power and authority make incorrect assumptions about us or about other people they have authority over. We help each other learn to notice this.
We know it happens in health care: We know that doctors often assume that a patient's symptoms are a result of the patient being fat, and that the patient "just needs to lose weight" in order to feel better, even when something entirely different is causing the symptoms. We know that psychiatrists sometimes assume that a woman having interpersonal issues must have borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder, because obviously those are the right labels for difficult women, when actually she's autistic and the psychiatrist didn't bother to check.
We know it happens with how children are treated: Whether we're activists or not, many of us remember times when our parents or teachers acted like we were breaking rules or causing a scene for no good reason, when actually something was wrong and we were trying to solve the problem/get help/generally cope as best we could, and we just weren't asked why we were acting that way.
But the reason I'm making this post is because we, as activists, are not immune from making bad assumptions either.
So many people on this site, and in many activist spaces I'm in, talk as if every incident of harm (at least, every incident where "the other side" causes harm) involves deliberate malice--often nothing but deliberate malice. There's rarely any public consideration of other potential causes, such as genuine ignorance, competing priorities, differing but legitimate values, being stretched too thin, etc. Even greed sometimes gets left out of the conversation, despite the fact that I'm quite certain that greed is a more common motivator than sadism.
I want to be clear that I'm not making this point to cast the powerful as victims, to argue that they're misunderstood, or to scold you about being nicer to your oppressors. That is not my motivation.
I am making this point because when we assume that someone is motivated by malice and sadism when they're really acting from ignorance, greed, a different set of values, or a lack of time/resources to do things in the way they should be done, we are going to propose the wrong solutions.
A teacher who's not using universal design because they hate disabled kids and want neurodivergent students to suffer needs to be removed from the classroom. A teacher who's not using universal design because they don't know enough about it needs additional training. A teacher who's not using universal design because they're totally overwhelmed by having 35 middle school students in each of six periods throughout the day needs more resources and support. The problems look similar, or even the same, at first, but when you look closer, you see that different causes require different solutions.
Obviously, there are groups whose motivations are a lot less sympathetic than those of an overworked teacher. But even when it comes to, like, execs at health insurance companies, I'm guessing they're more likely to care about making money and be pretty apathetic about the details, rather than cackling gleefully at the thought of driving people to bankruptcy or causing them to suffer and even die for lack of care.
And if we want a more equitable world, I think it's logical and even vital that we know what causes the problems we want to solve, because that affects what the correct solutions are and can guide us in avoiding unintended consequences.

i would just like to SPECIFY and go into a bit of detail about what each thing actually means:
this may not seem so bad, but when i mean they will comment on anything, i mean anything. it doesnt have to be marauder-related. it doesn’t even need to be related to harry potter. i saw a tiktok on a gorilla eating a banana and someone deadass commented “thats cool and stan james potter 😝” and lord FORBID if you include anything with snape in it. want to make an edit of him? backlash. want to talk about how you like him because hes interestingly written? backlash. want to deconstruct his character due to how badly fanon twisted him and actually analyse him? “anyways stan james potter” may be the dominant response to that, just so you know.
“sirius would never say that about mary!” said the marauder fan, heartbroken. “canon sirius would hate himself in atyd!” i respond usually with “canon sirius is a white boy in the 70s, hes not the ‘slay feminist yass 😍’ king you think he is.” this elicits quite a plethora of negative reactions, and i understand why. misogyny is stinky, no one wants their favourite character to be acting like that. so this option doesn't mean "fans who like a characterisation of sirius black that isn't necessarily time period realistic," but rather "fans who deny canon evidence for a fanon conception and then hate on things that expand on the canon evidence provided to them." "they are wizards, which isn't realistic, but you choose the time period misogyny as a hill to die on?" the marauder fan replied to me (and im quite literally quoting on what a creator said to me, this isn't an exaggeration). meanwhile canon sirius black: *harrasses snape for dressing more femininely/more outside gender norms* yeah and you think that boy would be a feminist...
you may think to yourself: when did [insert ship] become a thing? why is this happening? who even is this person? most of the time, it's all in good fun, sometimes, however, ships are created that purely contradict the entire point of said character. snily was criticised for doing exactly this, and now look at where we are.
after reading these points, you may come to the conclusion: holy shit the problem is just marauders fans. in fact, you may take it one more and remember more shit that had occurred due to this sub fandom of the harry potter universe. ever been criticised for not characterising purely fanon (dorcas, marlene etc etc) characters properly? ever been attacked for calling out the hypocritical stanning of barty, evan, regulus and peter whilst piling all blame onto bellatrix or snape? yeah me too babes.
i know we've talked about tiktok a lot, but i raise one more thing: the inescapable hell that is dracotok. this usually consists of those young teenage girls thinking they are very hardcore for participating in death eater practices despite its mirroring of being violent oppressors on a discriminated group so they can impress none other than draco malfoy. this, or they're the badass 'girlboss' that can change him. completely and ironically misunderstanding the point of his character aside, every cringey POV/thirst trap you have EVER seen on tiktok is probably replicated and 10x worse on dracotok.
i swear i haven't heard the term "gryffindork" since 2016, but alas, there has been a comeback. i call hogwarts legacy fans 'baby' hp fans, because i seriously do believe that these people have not interacted with the fandom until now. that would be okay if they weren't regressing everyone to early 2000s discourse. are gryffindors not being invited to ravenclaw, hufflepuff and slytherin raves that deep? no. but those three houses wouldn't be having raves in the first place
we've all seen them, need i explain or go into detail? "b-but harry doesn't have any chemistry with ginny!!" so he does with DRACO of all people? "b-but lily and james are basic!" dont forget the roots from whence you came. its misogyny within the fandom disguised as allyship or whatever the hell this is. ship your ships, but leave the gals alone
this didn't get on my nerves until i suffered from years and years of randoms going into detail about why slytherin/hufflepuff was the best harry potter house and then getting genuine mad when idgaf. maybe you have experienced this tragedy too. there are grown people getting into genuine online beef with others because they made a joke about slytherin being evil or hufflepuff being useless. makes me think you are just evil and useless (just kidding, but please wake up and realise that slytherin & hufflepuff quite literally do not exist)
i sympathise for people who like snape, i do. i do not sympathise for those who attempt to justify or excuse his actions. this normally comes with a side dish of misogyny, because more often than not they will find a way to blame it on lily. other times, they will blame his trauma. i want to be clear: his trauma explains his actions, it doesn't excuse them. that is the whole point of him ruining his chances with lily (not even as a lover, but as a companion). you are doing your own injustice to his character by trying to make him innocent, please stop
it's understandable why the cursed child is so hated. it's meant to be seen, not read, in my opinion. there's a lot of things in it that i too wish didn't exist. but that doesn't make it "not canon" because it upsets you. and of ALL the things that these types of people would choose to complain about, these are the things they chose: albus potter's namesakes (we've been going on about this for years like can we stop now please), harry being a 'bad dad' (think about his own upbringing a tiny bit more and maybe your brain can make a little more sense of his actions), delphi being voldemort's child (probably the only thing that i agree with these people on), and albus' name again because they REALLY hate it (but then they will counter this by saying "james sirius" is a good name, when it's still mid asf). anyway, it doesn't matter how much you squeeze your eyes shut and writhe around about it, the cursed child is canon. soz lol

If we're getting another chapter for made for two can we know the real reason why Zoro decided to end the relationship? I feel like there's something more than him getting annoyed at us like cheating or jealousy or whatever
Hello dear reader!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the fic and are super invested in it all! I actually did consider having Zoro do something awful like cheat on you or something, but (even for the sake of moving the story forward) I don't think he'd do that. Let me explain more below the cut (and show you why it's still just as tragic)
TL;DR: Zoro and the reader do love each other, but show it in very different ways, and they were doomed from the start because of it.
I think Zoro does care about and loves the reader in his own way, but Zoro doesn't show it in the same way other people on the crew do, especially you. Just because he cares about you doesn't mean he's going to alter his day to be with you more often, and in his mind, training (so he can protect you and the other people he cares about on the crew) is the most important thing. He's selfish, and he doesn't care about large romantic gestures. He doesn't remember important events like birthdays or anniversaries or even what day it is in general.
He's the kind of person who likes you around when he needs you around - which we see at the beginning of the story when he's playful in bed. But after his morning shower, his mindset shifts to training, and he doesn't need you around anymore because you'll just distract him. He's not the kind to spare feelings or tell you unnecessary words of affirmation. He gets to the point because that's what he understands, especially when he's upset.
And then we have the reader, who is someone that loves quality time, and wants to spend time together with not just Zoro but everyone on the ship. They love loudly and they want to be loved the same, which is something that Zoro has never had the capacity to understand or appreciate. This has resulted in months of arguments; most days looking like the one I had written.
The day written wasn't any different than most island days, expect for the date. The island you all landed on marked 6 months of you all dating, and Zoro never commented on it, he didn't want to be around you, he broke his promise and his compromise made with you, and he purposely avoided the one thing you guys do on a normal day (watching the sunset). He was angry with you and purposely avoided it all out of spite. He was itching for a screaming match because normally those types of fights end with you begging for forgiveness and you tiptoeing around him for the next few days because you don't want to lose him, and thats what he expected. But today was the day you gave up fighting, because of how hurt you were over the 6 months being forgotten by him. It was the straw that broke the camels back.
Sometimes people love each other deeply, but they simply aren't compatible. Such is the case with the reader and Zoro (which we can see from your POV and Zoro's argument with Sanji). That doesn't nullify the love that still remains between you two, in fact it makes it all the more painful. It's the reason I added a very small line into Dance for Two, actually.
"You wanted to run away, restart the day, or just go back to when you and Zoro first broke up and beg for his forgiveness."
It's a line that most people probably miss or doesn't mean anything to them. But the reader is used to this to portray just how messy their relationship is with Zoro. They're used to screaming and fighting, just to make up the next. This is the way their relationship has always been, so it must be normal.
You know how you're in a dimly lit room and you can almost see everything then a bright light blinds you? But when your eyes adjust, you realize you've been missing out on so many details and colors while you were sitting in the dark. It's a whole new world now, something you didn't know was possible.
I imagine Sanji is that light for the reader, and now that you've learned that there are people who will sacrifice for you rather than give you an occasional compromise, it's impossible to go back to the way it was before.
I must admit, I know this is not as enthralling as catching him cheating or having some other big thing happen that is earth-shattering for the reader. I don't think Zoro is a bad person, after all. He's just bad for you.

Dislikes: strawberry yogurt, fish, bugs that can fly, anything to do with horror 🤺, being the centre of attention, people who are overly nice, those who swear every other word
Extra: I usually find myself being attracted to those who are headstrong and confident
Have a lovely day!
Your Hunger Games match is…
Katniss Everdeen
Tumblr media
Katniss isn’t really into physical touch
At least not in public, when you’re alone she’d cuddle with you at night
Offers you that she’ll make you a braid
She doesn’t really mind you being awkward or judgemental
Values your kindness and patience
Katniss would be slightly sad by the fact that you wouldn’t want to go hunt or out with her in general
But she also understands you
Two black cats couple
Katniss being also stubborn there would be some tension sometimes between you two
It isn’t really seeable, but she likes your “hopeless romantic” behaivor
Comes to you whenever she’s upset or needs comfort in general or any kind of advice
You’re her comfort person
Likes to see you play netball, but doesn’t want to learn it
Slight teasing about the fact that you hate flies or flying bugs
Gets them outside for you
Katniss isn’t fan of horrors either so no worries, she won’t watch any horror movies with you or anything
She had enough horror in the games
I checked and she never in any of her movies or books cussed
So no worries she won’t cuss and she isn’t overly nice
Oh yeah she is headstrong, but not so confident
Your MCU match is…
Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
Kate loves physical touch and will cuddle you whenever she can
In public it’s mainly hand holding and hugs
Maybe kisses on cheek
Like a kid asks if she can try your glasses on
She rambles all the time so no worries, the room won’t be quiet even if you are
Kate is really awkward in most situations
Simp for you
Rambles all about you to Clint and even Lucky
She is also a slightly hopeless romantic
Has access to any game that requires payment so you won’t have to pay
Buys Spotify premium
She is rich so no worries about her waisting money
Will listen with you to your music
No guarantees that she will exactly like your music taste though
She is really glad that you’re so kind and loyal
Whenever you get sarcastic she’ll turn it into humoress jokes from her side
Or at least she thinks they are funny
Tries to play netball with you, but sje just can’t
Teaches you how to shoot with bow and arrows if you’re up for it
Doesn’t force you, though
Kate doesn’t really get why you don’t like straberry yogurt
Will ask why you don’t
Scared as hell of horrors and scary things in general
Will try to shoot the flying bug with her bow and arrows
Please stop her from doing that
Kate Bishop is confident that’s for sure
Your Arcane match is…
Vi
Tumblr media
She is very touch-starved so she does long for a physical touch even in public
Despite not being tall herself she’d tease you about your height
Flirting 24/7
Really apprichates you being loyal, kind and patient with her
You get sarcastic? She’s sarcastic back
Respects the fact that you prefer to stay home than go out
Vi knows that you’re smarter than her, but she won’t admit it
Also you might be smarter, but not more cunning than her… it just ain’t possible
Teases you about you being a hopeless romantic, but she likes it
Definetly plays video games with you whenever she can
Vi is very competetive so if you have any game where players are against each other, she’ll definetly play
She will try and listen to your music, but again, she might not like it
Cuddles are always welcomed
Like I said, she really likes physical touch, so cuddles are just perfect
Will learn how to play netball just to play with you
Vi isn’t much of a reader, but would like it if you’d tell her what the book was about
She isn’t really into strawberry yogurt herself
Teasing you about you not liking anything that flies
She doesn’t really mind horrors, but if she’d see that you don’t like them, she wouldn’t put them on ever again
She will try to stop cussing in front of you
Unsuccessfully
But she’s trying okay?
Vi is usually the centre of attention so no worries, you probably won’t be unless you’d want to
Oh yeah, she’s headstrong and confident for sure
Protective girlfriend
Drags you into any kind of trouble she gets in just so you could drag her out
Teaches you self-defence so she’d know that you can defend yourself when she isn’t there

This is a weirdly...personal thing to ask so feel free to ignore it. But when it comes to scenes involving reconciliation between characters, do you think the word 'sorry' is always neccessary?
I've seen such scenes play out with viewers saying 'X didn't even say sorry!' even if 'X' was demonstrably remorseful for what they did. Personally, if someone who wronged me was trying to make amends, and they couldn't muster a simple, singular word, 'sorry,' I'd come to the conclusion that they're not sorry at all, and that they don't really give a shit. But...do you think I'm being too harsh, thinking that way?
Sometimes, remorse for one's actions can come about in ways besides simply saying sorry. I mean, characters' expressions alone can convey apologies in ways words can't. So again, is the word 'sorry' always necessary for a reconciliation scene in stories to actually work?
Absolutely not. I have criticized characters before for barely remembering to apologize but that's because apologies are complicated. One of the first lessons a child learns after learning the word "Sorry" is not to say it if they don't mean it. This is why going "Sorry, but-" will immediately kill your apology. If you lead off with a huge excuse for why you were a colossal asshole, GUESS WHAT! You're still a colossal asshole because you only care about not feeling guilty, not being at fault, and NOT the other person's feelings. Just because you EVENTUALLY remember to say sorry doesn't fix that first you wanted to make it clear you hadn't done anything wrong.
An exceptional classic example of an apology that doesn't even need an "I'm sorry" is when someone breaks something they don't know the meaning of. The wronged person gets upset, the wrongdoer gets defensive, they both storm out, furious and hurt. Then the wrongdoer is told why the thing was important, understands the deeper meaning of what was done and goes out to replace it. Then when the victim sees it, they don't have to say sorry. In fact, "Sorry, I didn't know what it meant to you," is actually the weaker option here because it still includes an explanation. Now admittedly, that option allows the victim to also apologize for not explaining why they were so upset.
The better option is that when the object is seen, the wrongdoer asks about what made it important. "Someone told me your grandma was a hell of a woman. They made her sound preeeetty boring though."
"Oh yeah, then they didn't know her, just like you don't."
"Well, I'm all ears then. What was she like?"
That shows such a deeper understanding of the wrong done, and is genuinely better for showing that the character has understood why the other was hurt, than a simple, "I'm sorry." Using the default can work but if it just sounds like someone reciting what you're supposed to say when you're in trouble... It doesn't sound genuine, does it? Even if it's technically the right thing to say.
Hell, you want a GREAT breakdown on shitty apologies and how saying sorry can just make you sound like more of a douchebag? Pop music is FILLED with this problem and Todd in the Shadows has a great example of it. Check out the video if you have the time.
youtube
(Oh god, this is from EIGHT YEARS AGO)
To the general complaint though, it's a lot like how people view redemption arcs. "Did the person get forgiven?" "Are their crimes able to be redeemed from?" etc. like that. Claiming that reconciliation and apologies can only work if a character says sorry is trying to quantify these elements. To be able to check a list that then says whether or not an element empirically fails or not. To make it so someone cannot refute your argument.
That's not how writing works though. What works for one book won't work for all of them. It depends on context and skill. You could copy the greatest apology scene in media and if it doesn't work in your setting or with your characters, it will feel as hollow as a character being forced to say sorry because their parents told them to. Writing rules are fluid like this and we shouldn't try to say something has to, or can't, be included in a scene for it to work.
Sorry if you don't agree. evil grin

Some doodles for the hyopthetical Nope sequel/side story because I won't be talking about it a lot. I do not kill my cringe, I kill the part of me that cringes.
Kind of reworked Black Spade and renamed her Blackjack, because that's a more fitting name (and way more fun to say). She's the scariest thing in the skies of Southern Cali, but there is one singular person who has gone unscathed so far just because she knows how to not set Blackjack off, and everyone else who does kind of has it coming.
Media also seeks out the families of the victims or instigators of tragedies without any real sympathy or respect for what they're going through, and the Star Lasso Experience is one hell of a tragedy. Jupe definitely has family and is a pretty well-known child star thanks to the Gordy incident, so I'm sure he and the rest of the Park family have been harassed over the years for more about the story and their relationship with the child star himself.
Maya is Jupe's distant hypothetical cousin, a recluse who lives out in the country, running a small farm business and generally living a simple life compared to the attention and fame her cousin chased. She doesn't understand why Jupe suddenly starts contacting her about selling her horses (Maya also works with a few and learned to ride as a kid) until after the new of what went down in Agua Dulce reaches the mainstream news and the media starts asking her about her relationship with her cousin. Which is awkward, since the two were never close to begin with and Maya hasn't seen him ever since Jupe made it big as a kid. She only knows about him, and eventually his wife and kids, through the TV. While frustrated upon piecing together what Jupe was attempting to do, she is still upset, mostly at the fact that she'll never get to know her famous cousin for real and that she took any chance of doing that for granted. It's not a big void in her chest, but it still exists anyway.
Blackjack isn't a newcomer to the farmland; she's been there for a while and figured out that the presence of these humans brings more food so she leaves the farm itself alone. While Maya's parents got to ambitious with business and tried to make Blackjack into an attraction, Maya just does her job and doesn't look at the sky when there's a weird cloud hovering overhead, which is what's ultimately saving her from suffering the same fate as her parents. The two have a symbiotic relationship, in a way, and while Maya thinks about how cool it would be from time to time, she's always known that Blackjack can't be tamed or controlled. The news of the Star Lasso Experience only hammers that in further.
Being an older UAP, Blackjack's not as afraid of humans, especially Maya, so she'll sometimes lose her cloud disguise and come down to observe whatever's happening at the ranch or eat whatever network is stupid enough to ignore the warnings Maya's set up to keep Blackjack from eating people. Maya doesn't look at her, but has gotten used to having a giant black disk big enough to eat her house hovering over her from time to time. The isolation Maya lives in can get a bit lonely, so it's nice to have company every once in a while, even if that company could easily make her suffer the same fate as her cousin and parents.
There really isn't much to say about this AU. There could also be some commentary on how far media will go to get the story, on things like true crime podcasts being disrespectful towards families trying to move on from the tragedies... there's no real story, but I think it fits with the themes this movie's set up. I'm also going to slap in that Maya is the provider of the horse feed Haywood Ranch uses and no one ever finds out that she's related to Jupe until later just because I think it's funny.

#They're fine with systems until one of us says something unpleasant or cruel or behaves in a way that's off-putting Isn't that just how people generally treat each other. Could you elaborate or is it too personal? /lh /neu /srs
Okay, Roy (RSD holder) has been blocked from the front while I (Terry) answer this in good faith. Full disclosure, I didn't write the tags on that post, but here's what I think those two were getting at. Namely; in our experience, people are often less likely to forgive us when we fuck up because we're a system. This even happened before we knew we were a system; due to emotional amnesia kicking in as soon as anything stressful happened, we'd often seem to "recover too quickly" from something bad happening, and that would make people think we're not really sorry or that we felt what happened didn't matter. Sometimes we'd even forget what it was we did to upset them previously, which would make them even angrier at us. We've even had people abuse us by leveraging our vulnerability to their own ends, making us beg and plead until they're satisfied. We have a split from being treated this way by people - that's who Chaos is. There's also the issue of trust coming into play; even people who believed we are a system, who accepted that we do have multiple, compartmentalized personalities, couldn't get over the idea that one alter can simply pretend to be another one. One alter in our system - Raine, who is now gone thanks to our mass fusion - did this only a few times, and it was because of a persistent delusion they suffered where they 100% genuinely thought they were other alters. They'd use their proxies, talk with their voices, and nobody would be the wiser until the actual alter walked into front or snapped out of a dissociative state. The fact that they were doing this involuntarily didn't matter; their behavior was specifically called out as being "dangerous". Everyone can be an asshole sometimes. We practice collective responsibility, and keep each other's words and actions in check. If someone is acting cruel, unpleasant, off-putting or creepy, we change course, apologize, and we try to make things right. But being seen as manipulative, deceptive, dangerous, cold-hearted and evil - based on mistakes or misunderstandings that we thought were over and dealt with - is why we split Roy. People just aren't very understanding with neurodivergent and mentally ill folks on the whole. Like we've posted about recently, resentment towards us for simply acting neurodivergent (autistic) or Mad (OSDD) is commonplace and rarely talked about to our faces. People will claim we're forgiven, then take old grievances off the shelf and beat us over the head with them. So when we stumble for even a moment, we don't get second chances. - Terry
