H is for Hold My Hand
summary:  You take a cocky, halloween loving Spencer to a haunted house for his first time. He underestimates how scary it actually is going to be, and ends up being taught a very valuable lesson.
word count: 1.1k
warnings: details of a haunted house. nothing  bad though
Tumblr media
Spencer Reid was a big Halloween fan. He loved dressing up and going to haunted houses and eating candy. He was a kid at heart, maybe because he never truly had a childhood.
This year, you decided to take him to a haunted house on the outside of town. It was an old abandoned house that had been boarded up and condemned for years. A few years back, a family bought it and renovated it, turning it into a movie style horror building. It was one of the top spots in the entirety of Quantico during the month of October.
You decided to take your horror-loving boyfriend there as not only a late birthday gift, but also as a way to celebrate halloween. Because let's be honest, two mid-twenty year olds trick or treating isn’t exactly socially acceptable. After going out for a semi-nice dinner, you and Spencer drove 17 miles east to visit the haunted house.
“You know, I’ve never actually been to a haunted house,” Spencer said to you. His eyes were focused on the road as he made gentle movements of the steering wheel with his left hand. His right hand rested on the midsection of your thigh, gripping ever so slightly.
“Really?” You said. You ran your fingers over his, following the bumps of his knuckles.
“Nope. I’ve always wanted to go but never had anyone to go with.”
“Well, now you do.” He smiled, turning his head and giving you a quick peck on the lips. It took Spencer a few weeks to get used to kissing you. For a while, he would ask every time. Last week, the two of you went to the theater on a date. As this was a silent audience, he didn’t want to interrupt. About half way through the show, you felt the buzz of your phone. “Can I kiss you?” a text from Spencer read. You couldn’t help but giggle out loud, which got you a few shushes. You didn’t mind too much, leaning over and giving him a big kiss.
Kissing Spencer was something straight out of a romance novel. He had this certain way about him, he was always so passionate. The way his lips moved perfectly in sync with yours was something unpredictable. You always imagined him being a good kisser, with practice of course, but he’d clearly done research.
Spencer pulled into the parking lot of the destination. The owners of the house tore down the shed in the back to pave an area. It’s almost as if they know they’d be a city-wide success.
It was still slightly light outside, the sun having yet to set. You wanted to wait until dark to go inside. You wanted Spencer’s first haunted house experience to be memorable. Of course, anything with him was memorable, however, you wanted to make this extra special for him. After all, Halloween was sort of his thing, and you were sort of his girl-thing.
You grab Spencer’s hand and turn to look at him. “Hey,” you say, ensuring to keep your voice calm and steady, “I’m not saying you will, but if you do happen to get too scared, we can leave.”
“Y/n, I’m sure I’ll be fine,” he says. “I work for the damn FBI.”
“I know Spence, but this is different.” “Yeah. It’s fake.”
He really didn’t know what he was getting into.
“Yeah, it’s fake, but it almost makes it more scary. The people here can touch you, and it’s loud, and basically it’s all the stuff you hate grouped into one thing that you somehow love.”
“If it makes you feel better, I’ll tell you if I’m scared. But I’ll be fine, y/n.”
He was completely clueless. For one, you were going to prove him wrong. You just knew it. The two of you exit the car, meeting in the front and interlocking hands. Spencer rubs his thumb on the back of your palm and swings your arm back and forward with your steps.
As you approached the steps to the house, Spencer’s hand began sweating. Yeah, he was nervous, but he’d never ever admit it. He liked to seem strong in front of you, though he’d be the first one to cry if he stepped on a bug. There was something so innocent about him. He just, he was different.
_____
The line to get in was long, but it moved fast. The entryway to the house was filled with those fake spiderwebs. Those always made Spencer sneeze. The majority of your time in there was spent with Spencer’s arm over his mouth and you trying to convince the people ahead of you he wasn’t sick.
As you approached the entrance to the basement- where the haunted house started- Spencer began to get giddy. He was so excited, like a kid in a candy store. Except he was a Spencer in a scary house that he was allergic to.
You enter the doorway to the steps that lead to the basement. Spencer trails behind you, walking a little slowly and paying careful attention to each spooky detail on the wall. He held a loose grip on your hand and let you lead him down the stairs.
As you enter the actual attraction his grip tightens significantly. There was a coffin slightly ajar that had fake blood dripping out from the bottom. A plastic severed hand lay at the gape of the door. Spencer inched closer to you and hid his face in your hair. You silently laughed to yourself and continued walking forward.
As you continued through the basement, there was lots of fake blood and red stained sheets covering walls and pieces of furniture. They did a good job of creepifying this place. There was a fog machine plugged in somewhere, and from out of the fog popped a man draped head to toe in blood stained clothing. He jumped out in front of you and Spencer, screaming into your faces. He then ran back into the fog, knocking over a stack of ceramic plates causing a loud crash. Spencer jumped. Literally, jumped. He pressed his body into yours, attempting to hide behind you. You turn around to look at him.
“You sure you can handle this, Spence?” You ask him. “We can leave if you want to.”
“No, I’m fine. Can you just hold my hand?” He answers, looking into your eyes, almost as if he was too scared to grab your hand himself. You smile at him, taking his hand and dragging him to the next room and through the rest of the basement.
next chapter: I is for "I Knew It!"
a/n: hey guyyys sorry it's been a bit since the last chapter, i've been working a lot and had finals. i really hope i'm able to get back on the grind, but no promises. i hope you all are having a good holiday season! also, i would just like to say that chapter M is a christmas themed story, however it is non secular and celebrated for gifts with the team, not the birth of the christian god. i want to try to make all my stories inclusive to whomever and be able to read across all races and religions. have a wonderful night :)

01 |Even when he’s sore from the field or flat-out exhausted from month-long stakeouts, Soap still finds the strength to carry you on his back whenever you’re together. You can be out for a casual stroll when he asks if you’re tired, even if you just left the house five minutes ago. He will always make an excuse to hoist you up his back, wanting to be as close to you as possible. He says it makes him feel strong, but not only that, but it's also because he loves how it always catches you off guard. He can start running or jumping, and he loves to hear you squeal, especially when he can use this as a chance to squeeze your ass playfully.
Tumblr media
02 | It could be because he’s worried, he misses you, or because he loves you, Alejandro is always reaching out for your hands. He loves to intertwine your fingers together even as you sleep. Whenever he has to reassure you, Alejandro will bring your hands to his lips and kiss them — gently, softly, whispering sweet nothings to you. He will also absent-mindedly stroke your palm with his thumb, humming to his favorite tune. And when he has nightmares at night, you would always be quick to reach for his hand, letting him hold it even as you kiss.
Tumblr media
03 | Just like everyone else, Price needs to be reassured, but he often acts like he doesn’t. As a captain, a leader, and a soldier, he’s always so used to just keeping everything inside. It’s not easy for him to admit defeat, and it's even worse to accept that he needs support. So his silent cry for comfort would always be through a bear hug, and it was in these moments, did you saw the love and trust he has for you reflected in the way his arms firmly hold you in place: your bodies warm and content against each other.
Tumblr media
04 | With how kind, easygoing, and down-to-earth Gaz is, you can’t ever imagine him with a playful side. Thankfully, you’ve gone past his cool and calm exterior to discover that he’s a child at heart; so whenever you both feel on edge: either from exhaustion or the aftermath of a terrible argument, he’s always trying to cheer you up through the most creative ways. One of your favorites was when he created a makeshift water fountain in the park using the drinking taps to splash you with water, knowing that you’ve been feeling down lately with how much he’s been leaving for work. It’s good that he’s left behind a lot of good memories for you to replay in your head when he's not there, reminding you just how much you're loved by the soldier.
Tumblr media
05 | As much as you complain to Graves about him having such a big mouth, you enjoy your little banters. Playful arguments are a way for you and Phillip to entertain yourselves. He loves how you keep him at his toes, and you adore how he’s the only person who can drive you crazy. He’s a cocky, smug, and arrogant bastard, but he’s your bastard. Besides, a little bicker here and there does wonders for the relationship and often spices things up — " You want me to shut up? Then make me, commander."
Tumblr media
06 | It was hard to feel loved around Ghost, it was almost as if he didn’t exist. With him always away on missions, you barely spoke to each other, and as the days grew, you were starting to drift apart. The fear of having him fall out of love constantly haunts you, even while you sleep. So to one night catch him, stroking your head, gently, softly, as if not to wake you and get caught; it kept you going. Knowing that deep down, he cares. And that he was just too afraid to show you. So staying as still as you could, you pretended to sleep. So that in the midnight hour, when only the moon is awake as his witness, Simon can indulge in his feelings for you without guilt.
Tumblr media
07 | Always too nervous in expressing what he feels around you, König resorts to saying ‘i love you through small gestures, one of them being: running his hand down your hair. He’d give your scalp a gentle caress when you’re suffering from a headache and kiss your hairline goodbye before he gets up to leave. He also thinks it’s safer than a hug because sometimes he gets too excited and needs to settle for a head pat to avoid crushing your bones. The soft strokes of his thumb remind you that when a man with the size and strength of König is this tender with you, there’s no way in the world he doesn’t love you.

Broken Love 🪸by @coralseacourt
Summery: The youngest Acheron Sister gets rejected for Elain
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Azriel X O/C
Tumblr media
He broke me.
Left me in Pieces
He took my heart away.
Held it in his hands , before squeezing it slowly.
Until nothing of it was left to be repaired.
2 months prior.
I was fae. My skin flawless with only a hint of color to my cheeks. My long ash blonde hair had turned more gold and shiny than they ever had been.
I was sitting in front of the mirror staring at myself, bright green eyes looking back at me.
So much had happened since Hybern, my life had changed completely.
No more poverty , warm nights instead of the cold rifts that had swept through our House.
A clear view of a starlit city and not the so familiar colorless woods.
I couldn’t identify myself with the person staring back at me and i had no one to share it with.
Feyre was now High lady and a mother with a lot of responsibilities.
But this meant also that she had less time to be present in my life, which I didn’t fault her for.
It also wasn’t her fault that I somehow always seemed to be invisible to everyone. Nesta and Elain had never been interested enough in me to care.
They had each other.
After all of the Events in the last months i had started to feel lonely. I had thought that with the birth of nyx I could be more involved, maybe helping feyre out with the baby.
But I only had seen him once which was weeks ago. They had invited me to Dinner I had been so excited to get out and see my nephew but the evening had ended with everyone interacting with each other and me sitting alone in a corner of the room .
That was the moment I decided I would not go again.
And it seemed I had gotten what I wanted. I wasn’t invited to another Dinner.
I couldn’t understand what I did wrong.
At the beginning I had thought Azriel would be a friend. He had offered me his favorite books to read .
We had talked. Sometimes all night long.
But then it stopped and I had noticed the looks he had given Elain.
Of course he looked at her, not me. She was beautiful. Even more since she was Fae
As much as I didn’t want to admit it to myself I had loved his attention , had loved that he had cared.
Something I never had experienced from anyone else besides Feyre.
I pulled my knees to my chest and laid my chin on them. Maybe I was a ghost , haunting everyone around me with my company.
I shook slightly my head and stood slowly up to leave for Dinner in the big Hall. No one ever joined me .
Cassian had at the beginning, before him and nesta were mated.
Now I was a third wheel and I had changed my dinner time early enough so he still would be at training while I was eating.
I entered the big hall and sat on the long empty table .
My food arrived immediately after.
Potatos ,red cabbage and a meat loaf.
It looked delicious, but it tasted like paper in my mouth.
I leaned my head on my hand while poking around in my meat.
”Is Everything alright, violet?”
I looked up , surprised to see Rhys leaning against one of the pillars that connected the flooring with the Sealing.
His entire Form screamed suspicion and my alarm bells started to ring. “Yes of course, why wouldn’t it be ?”
I tried not to look away from his narrowed eyes so cold and calculating.
”It’s been a while since you joined us for Dinner and I had to wonder why that is.” I shrugged nervously my shoulders, not sure what to say . But decided to tell the truth.
“ I wasn’t invited,” He raised his eyebrow and I continued.
“And even if I would have been invited , I probably wouldn’t have come.”
Surprise lit his face.
Possibly because he didn’t expected me to answer honestly?
I m sure he had read something in my Head.
I hadn’t practiced to build up walls around my mind, hadn’t seen the need for it.
I had no powers.
I was practically invisible to everyone especially Rhysand , who would have only cared if I had any magic.
Which i hadn’t.
“Why wouldn’t you have come? Are you not happy for your sisters? Are we not providing you with everything you need?”
I gulped at his words, sometimes I had the feeling Rhys was waiting for something.
Like a hawk with his prey.
“ Yes , thank you I do appreciate it. And I m very happy for them. “ Whatever Rhys saw in my mind seemed to satisfy him. His arms relaxed and his facial expression calmed down but was replaced with confusion.
“I don’t understand .” It seemed to bother him.
“ It’s just .” I stopped myself not sure how to explain.
So I showed him. The loneliness, the feeling of invisibility.
It took less effort than having to explain.
“Do you want to be seen?”
Was all he said , his hands tugged away in his pants pockets before turning around and just leaving.
Did I?
All night I had to think about his words. Did I want to be seen?
Did I do this to myself?
This isolation?
I planned to change everything starting tomorrow morning.
🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸
The next morning I was up early.
I put some comfortable pants on and a shirt that I could properly move in.
When I walked into the dining hall for breakfast, I had 3 pairs of eyes on me. Azriel, Nesta and Cassian were sitting together at the table.
I took my seat next to Azriel and started shuffling my food down, still feeling their stares.
“What are you doing up so early?”
Looking over to the big Illyrian that my sister was mated to I answered.
“ I was thinking that maybe I could participate in training today, if that’s ok. “
“No.”
My sister seemed to almost smoke from anger .
I couldn’t hide my surprise.
“No? Why? Everyone is allowed to.
The priestesses, you even Elain started recently.”
I was frustrated now .
I had to do something, I didn’t want to sit around and be miserable.
“That’s different, we earned it. You didn’t.”
Both males stared at nesta like she had grown a third eye.
“ Nesta I m sure we could start her on some easy warm ups.” A soft spoken voice next to me stated. Az.
“I m not helping her . If she is doing anything, she will have to do it with one of you.”
And with that she stood up and left.
“I go talk to her violet, she doesn’t mean it.” “She does, and you know it.”
He only gave me an apologetic look before leaving.
“If you like then i could train you.”
I looked at the Shadowsinger beside me and gave him a small smile .
“Alright. Thank you I really appreciate it.”
🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸
We started training immediately.
Spending daily time with each other .
It felt like it had at the beginning.
I knew he only did it because he felt bad for me but I couldn’t help falling for him .
His soft way of talking with me .
All the ways he tried to make me stronger with each training session.
It was what I had always wanted ,being useful.
Having someone that is willing to listen and understand me.
Everything was how it should be until the faithful day where everything changed.
🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸🐚🪸
“Arms up , like this.” Azriel pulled my arms higher making my position slightly straighter.
“Yes and don’t lose tension . Keep it exactly this way and don’t lower your eyes .”
I nodded.
Sweat running down my face, my breathing heavy and my muscles hurting.
“Violet , I said don’t look down.” He was standing in front of me his hair tousled and his eyes glowing with anger.
“ If you don’t listen to what I say, then this is useless. “ He pulled on my arm twisting it and throwing me on the floor with him on top of me his dagger pressed to my throat.
“ See. This is what happens if you lose tension in your arms, anyone could use your weakness against you.”
He was looking down on me.
Eyes so intense that I couldn’t look away. Could only feel his weight on me .
My stomach tightened. My heart raced. “Do better, learn faster, pay atten…”
His voice stopped mid sentence.
Nostrils flared, pupils blackened.
Oh god could he smell my arousal?
My cheeks flamed and Embarrassment grew inside of me.
“I …I “.
I didn’t know what to say he still had the knife pressed against my Throat.
Which he now threw to the side of the ring .
“Are you attracted to me?”
His voice was Shocked, completely stunned.
I bit my lip and tried not to crumble under his gaze.
What a fool I must be.
He was here. Spending his time helping me train and I wasn’t even able to keep my feelings to myself.
His eyes darted to my lip movements and he nervously wetted his own.
“Are you?”
“Yes .” It was senseless to deny it, he clearly could smell it.
My head turned to the side, looking at the training equipment.
Everything was better to look at then seeing his face in that moment .
“ You shouldn’t.”
His hand softly pressed against my cheek turning me back towards him.
But instead of taking it directly away again, he dragged his thumb slowly over my cheek towards my lips.
Touching them. Opening them slightly.
I gasped quietly.
His smell was intoxicating.
It filled my lungs with the heavenly scent of Cedar and Night Rain .
In one sudden move he turned us and i now was on top of him straddling his Hip.
I shivered, when I could feel something hard touching my core.
His hand dragged me down to him.
Our mouths so close I could feel his warm breath on my skin.
“You really shouldn’t .”
His eyes glowed darkly before he pressed his lips against mine .
I couldn’t believe it.
Was this really happening?
I kissed him back and completely surrendered myself to him.
His tongue licked slowly over my lips telling me to open . Which I happily did.
I could feel his hands roaming over me.
Touching, grabbing .
The heat between my thighs getting unbearable.
His mouth started to wander in a wild and impatient way, going down my Throat.
Biting, teasing.
I couldn’t hold the sounds back that emerged from me.
“Azriel “.
I groaned his Name when he started to move my Hips against his in a rhythmic way .
I had never felt something like this.
My heart was pounding and something was building up.
I bit my lip while still feeling his kisses on me .
But in one Moment I was in heaven and the next he threw me off.
I landed on my back a couple feet’s away from him.
Looking up the sealing and trying to catch my breath , I blinked confused.
“I need to go . Elain is waiting for me.” And with that he stood up and practically ran from the training room.

I Just Need You By My Side, Cause I'm Warmer in the Winter With You
Another very self-indulgent Christmas fic.
Teen. Warnings: Mentions of torture. 5,600 words.
Ghost/Soap
---
“Shouldn’t you be packing up?” Ghost asks him from where he leans against his doorway. Soap shrugs and sets down the pencil in his hand. He’s been sketching for about an hour now, trying to wind down at the end of a hectic day. Everyone on base is giddy at the thought of going home for the holidays, and the energy is almost overwhelming..
“Sorry, but you’ll have to get used to my ugly mug around here. I know you’re one of the only ones here most Christmases, but I don’t have anywhere else to be this year,” he explains, hoping years of interrogation techniques pay off and Ghost doesn’t call him on the lie. Though it’s partially true, since there’s nowhere he’d rather be then in the barracks with him.
“Don’t you usually have a big family celebration? Remember you rambling about nieces and nephews and being forced into midnight mass by your mother,” Ghost asks, eyes narrowing behind the black balaclava he’s chosen to wear today.
“Glad to know you actually listen to me when I shoot my mouth off,” he laughs out.
“Never miss a word, Johnny,” Ghost tells him evenly.
“So any other year, yeah I'd be home, but things are out of sorts this year with my sisters traveling to their husband’s families, and me Ma and Pa planned a little trip of their own,” he says. Sure, the little trip was right down the road to his brother’s house where everyone would be gathered like every other year, but no need for Ghost to know that.
Last year it was excruciating to leave Ghost on the tarmac, saying goodbyes as everyone else went home to their families. He doesn’t know much, but it’s clear Ghost no longer has anyone waiting for him back at home. They’d all joked about him haunting the base, probably maskless with the skeleton crew left behind and any other puns they could come up with. Still, there was a bleakness in Ghost’s eyes that he never wanted to see again.
Thankfully he’s never been able to hide his feelings from his parents, especially his mother, and she didn’t even bat an eye when he told her his plans. She’d said something cheesy about the magic of the season bringing them closer together, which he’d quickly scoffed off. He wasn’t doing this with any ulterior motives in place. It was a simple fact that his best friend shouldn’t be alone over the long holiday break they were lucky enough to get two years in a row.
If he happens to be completely ass over tits in love with him, he’s smart enough to keep it to himself.
“Guess it could be nice to have some company, even yours,” Ghost teases with a snort. Soap rolls his eyes, but he’s smirking still.
“Do you cook anything for it or rely on the mess hall for Christmas dinner?” he asks, already planning how to make things nicer for him. They may be stuck on a mostly empty base, but there’s no reason why he can’t make it as comfortable as possible.
“Sometimes I make a pot of soup for the week, but nothing special for the day itself. Tend to keep to myself,” he says softly. And that just won’t do.
“Happy to help sample anything you cook, but since I burn water, I’ll order us something nice from town. It shouldn’t be too late for a small catering order. You like lasagna?” he asks, already thinking of the perfect little Italian place near here.
“Wouldn’t say no to it, but there’s no need to get fancy over me,” Ghost mumbles. It only makes Soap more determined to bring a little Christmas magic into his life this year.
“I’ll take care of dinner and you just bring the good company,” he says to settle it. He’ll place an order first thing in the morning, already planning to buy way more food than they need. Ghost deserves to be spoiled, and leftovers are a rare commodity around here.
“Not sure I’ll contribute much in that regard, but yeah, I can show up,” he agrees.
“No one else I’d rather spend the day with. Honestly,” Soap admits, but Ghost just huffs at him.
“Piss off, Johnny,” he says with a laugh. Before he can figure out a response, the man is already gone. It may just be the hardest thing he’s ever done, but he’s damned sure going to make sure Ghost knows how much Soap likes being around him, especially now. Likes, not loves, because he has a feeling that’s something he’ll take to his grave. Being around him will just have to do for now.
The poster fell off the wall for the three thousandth time, and Soap barely managed to keep himself in check. Price would have his head if he blew up the base, but it’s getting more and more likely. It’s a stupid thing, really, just a fake Christmas tree by a fireplace, but he bought it to cheer up their rec room. He grumbles under his breath, reciting every swear he knows and probably inventing some new ones along the way.
“Problems, Sergeant?” Ghost asks from his spot on the couch. There’s a hint of laughter on the edges of his voice, and Soap spins around to glare at him.
“There is in fact,” he spits out before taking a couple of deep breaths to calm himself down. No use in pissing off the man he’s trying to decorate for. “These walls are apparently covered in fifty some years of filth, and I can’t get the damn tape to stick. Seriously, it’s like teflon and I’m actually afraid to think about what could be coating this wall right now.”
“This that important to you?” Ghost asks, head tilted like he’s studying him.
“Aye,” Soap sighs out. “Just wanted to brighten up the room a bit. We can’t have a real tree, and I’ve been banned from open flames on base, but I thought this stupid fucking poster might work. Wanna sneak off base and burn it with me? Might raise my spirits.”
“How about I fix it instead,” Ghost says, standing up to stomp over to the wall.
“You’re more than welcome to try, but not even sure duct tape will hold the damn thing at this point,” he says, scowling at the wall. Seriously, he was going to beg Price to get the room deep cleaned as soon as he was back on base. Can’t be safe.
Ghost shrugs before bumping him out of the way with his hip. He holds the poster with one hand and reaches into the back of his jeans with the other. The knife he pulls out is on the small side, but it does the job when he stabs it through the poster and into the wall. Nodding proudly, he slides another knife out of his sleeve and buries it in the other top corner. The final blade is tucked in his boot, and he takes a few steps back before flinging it at the wall.
It lands perfectly in the bottom center of the poster, and Soap chubs up in his sweats at the display of skill.
“Guess that works, too,” he murmurs, actively avoiding Ghost’s gaze. No need to show off how fucking gone on him he is, and he knows there’s hearts in his eyes right now. He’s bound to be suspicious just based on how desperate Soap is to make things perfect, to give him a better Christmas than year past, and he should try better to keep his feelings hidden. Not looking to get his heart broken over the holidays.
“Anything for you, Johnny,” Ghost tells him as he strides back to the couch and picks up his book again. Soap can feel his cheeks heating up and blurts out some half-assed excuse before making a tactful retreat.
He debates waiting until morning, but Soap is too curious about the package in his hands to wait that long. His box of gifts from his family arrived today, but he didn’t bother unpacking it until after dinner. Everything was neatly labeled - or scribbled by his nieces and nephews - with his name except for one.
To Ghost, From Ma MacTavish. Open Immediately.
Not one to disobey his mother, Soap raps on Ghost’s door and hopes this isn’t something too embarrassing. Lord knows his entire family is annoying enough already over his little crush, and he doesn’t need his mother stepping in to help him. There’s a rustling from behind the door before it’s swung open by a brooding Ghost. Anyone else might not see how moody he is, but Soap can tell just by studying his eyes.
“What do ya need?” he asks, voice cracking from disuse.
“Got a special delivery for you and instructions for you to open it right away,” Soap informs him, holding up the package like the peace offering that it is. Ghost eyes it suspiciously but steps aside and lets him into the room. While he’d love a chance to look around, Soap keeps his focus on Ghost out of respect for his privacy. He knows just letting him into the room was a big step for the other man.
“Your mum sent this?” Ghost asks as he takes the parcel from him. Soap nods and smiles warmly as Ghost’s eyes widen. “Better not keep her waiting then,” Ghost mutters before sitting on the edge of his bed. The package looks huge, even in his large hands, and Soap really wonders what it could be.
He tears the paper at the seams, carefully working a finger down the edge of it. It’s gentle in a way that hints of Christmases past and perhaps being yelled at to keep the wrapping for next year. Soap’s grandma used to do that and iron out each crease to save money.
When Ghost finally removes the paper, soap breathes a sigh of relief at seeing the present isn’t anything to worry about. Trust his mother to try and take care of someone she’s never met. Ghost holds up the blanket, blinking slowly at it. Soap supposes he isn’t used to getting many gifts, especially not something handmade. The blanket itself is a mix of blank and white granny squares, no doubt crocheted with love by his mother. Everyone in their house has at least one of these piled at the foot of their bed, and his heart warms at the thought of Ghost having one on his.
“She made it?” he asks in a whisper, and Soap wants to cry about it. There’s no reason a gift should put him in such a state of awe, and he vows right then and there to spoil him as much as he’s allowed to under the guise of friendship.
“You’re looking at a Ma MacTavish special right there. Everyone in the family has one, and it looks like she thinks highly of you,” he confirms.
“Never even met me.”
“Well, I suppose I’ve entertained her with a tale of two of the man who saved my life so many times. Besides, how else do you think she’d know the perfect color scheme for an emo bastard like yourself,” He says in an attempt to lighten the mood. The corners of Ghost’s eyes crinkle up, and he knows there’s a smile beneath the mask.
“You’ll have to thank her for me. No, wait! I’ll get a thank you note together for the next time you send mail home. That alright?” he asks almost timidly, which isn’t an emotion Soap’s sure he’s ever shown before.
“She’ll love that. Sorry to barge in on you so late at night, but I’m glad I did. Should probably be heading to bed, though,” Johnny says with a pout. Dreams of being asked to stay, to tuck himself against Ghost under that very blanket flash through his mind and he has to get out of here quickly before he shows his hand.
“Me too. Night, Johnny,” Ghost says, and he understands it for the dismissal that it is. The last thing he sees as he ducks out the door is Ghost spreading the blanket across the top of his bed and smoothing it out. He’ll have to send his mother a thank you note as well.
There is absolutely no reason for them to be in Soap’s room instead of the rec room, but he wasn’t about to say no when Ghost suggested it. Currently they are sitting on his bed - which is way too small for two grown ass men - with their backs against the wall and his laptop propped on top of their thighs. Ghost is a constant warm presence at his side, and he’s pretty sure he would be completely lost if he hadn’t seen this movie so many times.
They each have a glass of their preferred poison in hand, and Ghost has his mask tucked up over his nose while he purses his lips at the screen in front of them. He is so fucking stunning with the light from the laptop highlighting the planes of his face, and Soap would be weak in the knees were he standing. Not that Soap is abusing his trust just to watch him more than the movie. Absolutely not. Still, the sight of Simon’s sharp jawline is a rare one and he can’t seem to stop staring. He longs to scrap his teeth over the scar that curves around it and has to hold himself back from scooting even closer to him.
“I don’t get it,” Ghost says, breaking him out of his dangerous thoughts.
“How so?” he asks, eyes already turned back to the screen to see what part of the movie they’ve reached. Nearly done at this point, but the silly plot has been a fun distraction. They don’t often get downtime, time totally free of responsibilities, and he hopes he can go without this once everything is back to normal.
“This just seems so improbable. His family forgot to bring him to the airport and they don’t have a single family friend they can call in the meantime? The police are actively searching for these two assholes and yet a child is the only one who manages to take them down? Gotta admit some of these traps are pretty awesome, though,” Ghost rambles out.
“One, I can’t believe you’ve made it this far in life without watching this. Two, this film is a masterpiece because it makes you suspend reality. Three, I’m pretty sure this is why I ended up in demolitions anyway. Do you know how many things I blew up after seeing this? I thought my Pa was going to murder me just as an example for my brothers and sisters. One time I rigged a frying pan to hit my brother in the face and it broke his fucking nose,” Soap says, unable to hold in his laughter. “Pretty sure he was about to pack me off and make me Nan deal with me, but my Ma couldn’t let her baby go.”
“You’re a real piece of work, Johnny,” Ghost tells him softly. He brings his glass up to his mouth, and Soap watches him swallow slowly, desperately trying to remind himself how they’re friends and nothing more. “Glad it brought you to me, though.”
“Yeah,” he breathes out, heart pounding in his chest.
But then they fall into an easy silence, and he’s forced to turn back to the movie. They both finish their drinks as the plot winds down, and he’s about to offer another when Ghost grabs his wrist to stop him from standing up. He looks down, worried that he’s overstepped somehow, and the tightness in Ghost’s clenched jaw startles him.
“We’ve had a good week, yeah?” Ghost asks quietly.
“Loved every second of it,” Soap blurts out before he can stop himself.
“Might not love this so much,” Ghost says with a sigh. “I’ve…I’ve never been this close with anyone, barely even shared this with Price, but I’d like to give you some sort of explanation for why I keep to myself at Christmas. If you’ll listen, that is.”
“Ghost, I will always be here, no matter what you want to tell me. Thank you for trusting me so much, but are you sure you want to do this while we’re drinking?” he has to ask, needs to be sure his friend won’t regret this come morning.
“You think I just keep bourbon and scotch on hand? That’s kinda the reason why I brought it with me. I’ve wanted to talk to you for a while now, but I needed a little courage to do it. Just, just don’t say anything until I’m done, ok? If you do I might not be able to finish,” he warns him, his voice barely more than a whisper.
Sensing how important this is, Soap sets both their glasses on his bedside table and closes the laptop. His desk lamp is on, so they’re not totally in the dark. He knows rumors of Ghost’s past, has heard a bunch of shit about his time in captivity, but every scrap of information is dear to him. He longs to know the man beside him better than he knows himself. He leans back against the wall and angles his body towards Ghost before saying, “Course. I got you.”
“When I was little, the only person I cared about was my mum. She kept me safe, kept my dad and brother away from me the best she could. I know now that my brother was only doing what he could to avoid my dad’s rage, but it still hurt back then. I won’t lie, I had a real shitty childhood and ran into the service as soon as I could. After that, things started improving. I came back home, kicked my sorry excuse for a father out of the house, and got my brother off of drugs. Hell, I stood beside him as he married the love of his life, and I wouldn’t give that up for anything, but the memories threaten to crush me sometimes.”
He trails off and palms the back of his head, chewing at his lower lip. Soap stays silent, unwilling to break his promise even though Ghost looked on the verge of falling apart. They sit there for a long moment while he regroups and continues his story. Soap longs to reach out, to offer some sort of physical comfort, but he knows better than to act on it. Simon doesn’t enjoy being touched on a good day, and he’d absolutely hate it while letting himself be this vulnerable.
“Things were going well until I got betrayed and snagged by Roba. Fuck, Johnny,” he breaks off, swallowing thickly before pressing his fingers to his mouth. “It was bad. I won’t go into details, but you can only be tortured for so long before you start to doubt yourself, start to go mad instead of trying to fight it. I have no fucking clue how I managed to survive after being left for dead, but I eventually made it back home.”
Ghost shifts his legs, twitching as he picks at the fabric of his sweats. He takes a few deep breaths and stares ahead at the wall, shoulders tense as he continues. “They died on Christmas, and it was all my fault. Roba still had his hooks in me, and couldn't let me go since I escaped with my life. One more betrayal led me back to my mum’s house that only hours before had been full of celebration and Christmas cheer. When I got there, the whole house was up in flames. The fire was so hot, but I had to save them. Only it was too late, because they were lying dead near the doorway. They even put a bullet through the forehead of my nephew. He was so small, so fragile, and I couldn’t even save him.”
He falls quiet, and it seems like he’s finished. Soap knew it was bad, but wasn’t expecting something so tragic. He wasn’t sure what to say, so he just lays a hand on Ghost’s shoulder and squeeze it gently, deciding to risk the touch at this point. It seems to shatter something inside of him and he slumps over to lean on Soap’s shoulder.
“The men involved?” he asks quietly.
“Killed them all. Didn’t bring back my family, though. So yeah, Christmas fucking sucks, but at least I’m not alone this year. Didn’t know it would be easier with you here, but you always manage to help me stay calm. Should have expected it,” he says. His voice is tinged with exhaustion, and Soap knows he’s worn himself out.
“Thank you for trusting me with this. I, it’s, well it’s fucked up that you had to experience that. I know nothing I say can help make it much better, and I’m honestly not sure how you managed to get through it, but I’m grateful you did. I can’t imagine being here without you,” Soap says after a long moment. He knew Ghost has a shitty past, had heard about him digging himself out of his own grave, but this is a whole new level of horrible. If it happened to him, he can’t say he would still be here to talk about it.
“Price helped a lot. Pushed me through it and then kept me around,” Ghost says, turning to stare at the wall. Soap isn’t sure what he can offer at this point, but he has the feeling Ghost might not want to be alone after unloading all of this.
“Stay with me?” he asks, watching as Ghost’s shoulders rise up. He still isn’t looking at him, so he keeps talking. “I mean, you don’t have to, but I can’t imagine wanting to be by myself after such an intense conversation. Would feel bad if I let you go back to your room, really.”
“Contrary to popular belief, I don’t actually sleep with the mask on,” Ghost says with a chuckle. And ok, he can work with that.
“So let me freshen up and get myself ready for bed. You can go after me, and I’ll just sleep on my side. I can keep my eyes shut, give you your privacy,” he suggests. Ghost finally turns to look at him, and there’s a telltale hint of red around his eyes. If Soap was still religious, he’d offer up a prayer that the other man agrees. He clearly needs comforting tonight.
“Yeah, ok,” Ghost mumbles. “Gonna change into my sleep stuff, though. I’ll get ready in my room and be back in a few.”
He practically leaps out of the bed, and Soap hopes he holds true to his word. He goes through his nightly routine on autopilot, not even aware of it until he’s crawling into his bed. He leaves the side of the covers up and turns onto his side to face the wall. It’s only just catching up to him that he invited Ghost into his bed, but tonight isn’t about him. He’d be offering the same closeness to Gaz if he shared something as horrific as Ghost just did.
If anything, this only proves how amazingly strong Ghost is. He had to reinvent himself twice, the second time with no one to support him. They’ve all seen and done some really horrendous things in the name of queen and country, but he can’t fathom coming home to find the burning bodies of his family at his feet.
He’s yanked out of his spiraling thoughts by the sound of the door opening and shutting. The clunk of Ghost setting down his boots seems impossibly loud in the silence, and he holds his breath waiting for Ghost to come to bed. He hears the muffled sound of Ghost removing his mask and setting it on the bedside table and fights the urge to turn around and look at his gorgeous face. He’s here as a friend tonight, and his feelings don’t matter right now.
The bed dips behind him, and the covers shift as Ghost settles in behind him. There’s an awkward few seconds where they both shuffle around trying to figure out how two large men can fit in such a small bed, but then Ghost sighs and rolls onto his side to frame Soap from behind. He slings an arm across Soap’s hips and presses his nose against the nape of Soap’s neck. The last thing he hears as he drifts off is a soft, “Thank you, Johnny.”
Unsurprisingly, Ghost is gone when he wakes up. The bed is still warm, though, so he knows he spent the whole night. He wishes he could have woken him up with a Merry Christmas, but understands his need for time to himself. Chris, last night had been a lot. Hopefully he can still provide a little holiday cheer tonight, but even if they eat in silence he’ll have a great time. Every second spent at Ghost’s side is a better gift than anything he could ever fine underneath the tree.
He spends the morning in the gym, working out his frustrations. Life wasn’t fair, but it has been exceedingly rotten towards Ghost. He knows there isn’t anything he can do to change his past, but he’ll damn sure be here for his future. It feels like they crossed a line last night, but he’s not sure which one. Nothing romantic happened, but he feels closer to Ghost than anyone before. He’s willing to bet Ghost hasn’t opened up this much to many people, probably just Price, and he’s ashamed at how giddy that makes him feel.
They might not ever be together, but they’ll always be solid.
After lunch and a long, self-indulgent shower it’s easy to keep himself busy by running through last minute preparations. They hadn’t said anything about exchanging gifts, but Soap kept finding the perfect things for him.He knows Ghost will love the aged bourbon, even though it hurt his Scottish heart to buy it. There’s also a new knife that came highly recommended by their armorer and a deck of cards with holographic skulls on them. Wrapping was never his strong suit, but he managed to slap some paper onto his gifts. Sure, it looked like they were wrapped by a small child, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
He just finishes heating up the catering he picked up the day before and is about to text Ghost to hurry up and join him when his phone goes off. It’s an incoming FaceTime from his mother, and he decides there’s plenty of time to take it before Ghost swings by. He’s been missing his family all day, but they promised to call at some point.
“Ma! Happy Christmas!” he shouts, laughing as his entire family tries to crowd into the camera view.
“You’ll each get a turn, back off,” his mother says, already throwing elbows at his siblings and their kids. His dad stands next to her, silent as always but with a huge smile on his face. He lifts his glass in cheers, and Johnny waves back in response.
“We’re about to eat dinner, but It’s good to see you all. Make sure everyone gets hugs from me, even though I’m not with you this year. And pass out my presents! Make sure the kids know how much Uncle John spoils them. I want photographic evidence!” he says, laughing as one of his nieces tries to jump into the view again. His dad picks her up and wanders off, no doubt about to bribe her into behaving with cookies.
“I hope staying away is worth it,” his mother says, but she doesn’t look mad, just nosy. She’s been on him for months to bring his boy home, no matter how much he tells her they aren’t dating. Ghost is one hundred percent his boy, though, even if he hasn’t realized it yet.
“It’s worth every second away from you all,” he answers honestly, “I’ll be home as soon as we get more downtime, but you know why I have to be here. Thanks for understanding.”
“Anything for my baby,” his mom says, snorting when he scowls at her.
“You ever going to stop calling me that?” he asks, knowing full well she never will. He isn’t mad, not really, just likes to give her grief about it.
“If you didn’t want to be my baby, you’d have been born higher up the chain,” she tells him with a smirk.
“We can argue about it later. Let me get dinner on the table and then we’ll chat again later, yeah? We can pass around the phone so all the kids can show me everything they got,” he suggests, and his mom nods in response.
“Go feed your boy,” she tells him and ends the call before he can quip back at her.
“Not my boy,” he mumbles to the empty room.
But then someone clears their throat from behind him, and his heart sinks into his chest. Fuck. He spins around with a fake smile on his face to find Ghost standing there with his arms crossed.
“I’m assuming you heard all of that?” he asks with a grimace.
“You lied about your family not being together,” Ghost says, though he knows it’s a question.
“Aye, I did. And I don’t feel bad about it. I couldn’t leave you here alone again. Like it or not, I’m here for you,” he says with a sharp nod. He’s already gearing for a fight, ready to be stubborn as hell about it, but what Ghost says next throws him off his game.
“Because I’m your boy,” he asks, and Johnny can hear the fucking smirk in his voice. He has a plain balaclava on today, which is as dressed down as Ghost seems to get.
“Don’t suppose you’d be willing to let that one go? We can forget about it,” he offers quietly. Because who is he to keep dreaming, right? He’s been dropping hints for at least a year now, and Ghost hasn’t taken the bait. He teeter-totters between thinking the man returns his feelings to thinking he barely tolerates him. Regardless, he meant what he said and he’ll be standing by his side as long as Ghost lets him.
“And if I don’t want to forget it? What if I wanted to be your boy? Though I’d prefer man, if we’re being honest here,” Ghost says, and he freezes while his brain catches up.
“You fucking with me?” he asks, just because he needs to know, needs to be sure before he makes a fool of himself. Well, more of a fool than he already has.
“No, but we could fool around later if dinner goes well,” Ghost tells him, laughing as he reaches up and pulls the mask off. He tosses it onto the table, barely missing the salad bowl.
And fuck, he’s a bonnie lad. Soap can’t even speak, just stands there staring at him, eyes trailing over every exposed inch of his face, committing it to memory in case this is the last time he sees it for a while. “You’re stunning,” he whispers in awe. Then he has the pleasure of watching Ghost’s face darken, the apples of his cheeks turning pink and making the freckles dotting them stand out even more.
“Shut up,” he murmurs before stepping closer. “But yeah, I’m all in if you want this too. Want me. I’m sick of wasting time. Maybe next year we can be with your family instead of me keeping you stuck on base.”
“I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my entire life,” he says truthfully. “And I’d rather be stuck here every single year if you prefer it. But you heard my Ma. She wants you home with me.”
“Let’s make sure we make it to next Christmas, then,” he jokes, but there’s a hint of worry in his tone.
“Never letting go of you now,” Soap warns him with a laugh. Ghost chuckles and moves in so close the toes of their boots touch.
“Hard to let go if you haven’t even touched me yet,” he points out. And fuck if his smirk isn’t as lovely as Soap had imagined. It’s crooked, a scar bisecting the left side, but it’s perfect to him.
“Better fix that. Can I kiss you, Ghost?” he asks softly.
“Simon. Call me Simon when we’re alone,” he says breathily, and Soap knows how out of his comfort zone he is right now.
“Simon, can I kiss you? Please?” he asks and Simon just nods at him.
And so he does. He cups Simon’s cheeks, brushing a thumb across the constellation of freckles there, and leans in to press their mouths together. It seems almost anticlimactic after all their flirting, but the feel of Simon’s chapped lips against his is one of the best things he’s ever experienced. He can almost feel the tension leave both their bodies as they melt into each other. He keeps things light, pulls back before thinking better and darting back for another quick kiss.
Kissing Simon isn’t a burst of fireworks, but it’s like coming home which is even more perfect.
“Would now be a good time to tell you I’m really fucking in love with you?” he asks teasingly.
“Only if I can say the same,” Simon says, chuckling as he palms the back of Johnny’s head and drags him into another kiss.
And if they stand there kissing in the middle of the rundown rec room, lost in each other long after their dinner has gone cold, it’s no one's business but their own.

I heard a song and thought of you.
The message has sat there, blinking back at him. The song is an hour behind him, but he could still feel the ending chords vibrating in the air, clinging to his skin and buzzing deep in his heart. Maybe, if he wasn't a couple beers deep, he could taste it too and maybe, just maybe, it would taste like you.
"I don't wanna tell you what to do," Mic is reading over his shoulder because, of course he is. The blonde is nursing his own drink with a miserable smile that Aizawa has come to know all too well. "But you either have to send the text or delete it."
Aizawa shoots him a glare. Both options are wrong. The last text either of you sent was months ago- nothing more than a cordial birthday greeting. The divorce ripped through the both of you, leaving nothing but crumbs and memories, but now that the dust has settled and the silence is deafening, he's left with these resonating feelings he cannot drop.
"Maybe it's time to move on."
"You're gonna tell me to move on when you -" The accusations die on Aizawa's lips before they can bear any venom. There's so much he could say; after Midnight's death, Hizashi slept on the ground, so the bed would be exactly how she left it. He owns bottles and bottles of her favorite perfume, so the house is always haunted by her memory.
Aizawa is no better. Your ring is in the soap dish next to the kitchen sink, exactly where you left it when you first said goodbye. He's afraid to move it, in case you come back looking for it one day.
The only difference between the two men is that you're still here, only a text away.
"I see the bubbles sometimes," Aizawa admits into the bottom of his glass, only the dregs left, "Those fuckin' typing ones? But she never sends shit."
When he drains what's left and lets the foam sink, uneven and unsteady, he feels a kinship with whats clinging to the sides of the glass. Is this what is left of you? Nothing but bubbles that he can only watch disappear?
"You never send anything either," Mic says. HIs glass is still nearly fully, barely even nursed.
"You're right."
"I'm always right" he replies too easily.
He thinks about it for a moment, and then, despite his better judgement, Aizawa does not press send.
Instead, in the middle of a crowded bar, he presses call.

has never made it all the way to the end tho
it usually ends with him running out of the house screaming like a little schoolgirl
carries y/n bridal style while he's running
refuses to stop until they've made it all the way back to the lair
promises to make it up to them every time tho
Donnie:
Tumblr media
honestly? why even bother?
he can show you scarier things out on the streets of new york than you'd ever see at a cliche scare attraction
begrudingly goes anyways; pretends its against his will but any time spent with y/n makes him v happy
not that he'd ever admit it
spends most of the time pointing out where and when most scares will occur
it really ruins the surprise for y/n but he genuinely doesn't notice he does it
"cue yet another garish hockey slasher approaching from the left corridor in 3... 2... 1...."
will occasionally tease y/n for getting scared but never pushes them past their limit
if y/n decides to tap out early, he'll understand
doesn't stop him from reaching the end tho
decides to video chat with y/n the entire time tho to show them "what they're missing out on /s"
adds a few unenthusiastic aaaah's while he's still inside to cheer y/n up for tapping out early
Leo:
Tumblr media
oho he is going to milk this opportunity to be your knight in shining armor
cocky and smug the entire time
promises y/n that they have nothing to fear as long as lightning leon is around!
will absolutely melt if y/n clings onto him
might even carry them koala bear style if they're too scared to move
"no te asustes, mi amor! let these big, strong arms protect you from the scary monsters!"
will probably jump out to scare y/n a few times
knows when to stop tho; he's not heartless!
finds it cute how scared they get and will let them know again and again how adorable they are
if y/n decides to tap out early, he does get a bit pouty but will leave with them
makes up for all his teasing with a big share of his candy haul
Mikey:
Tumblr media
won't say no to a date night with y/n!!
he'd jump into an active volcano if it meant getting to spend time with them!!
he doesn't mind if it's a bit scary for him.....
does his best to reassure y/n that they shouldn't be too scared! mikey's got their back!
is incredibly good at putting a brave face on the entire time
will cling to y/n as much as he can
might get a bit spooked every now and then, but as long as y/n's with him, he can power through anything
checks in often to make sure y/n is okay
"a-are you good to keep going? n-not that i'm scared, i just want you to feel safe!"
will immediately tap out if y/n starts getting overwhelmed or uncomfortable
if y/n makes it through to the end, he will absolutely brag to everyone about how brave and cool they are
April:
Tumblr media
she knows all the best spots and is psyched to take y/n to all of them!
will make a whole date week of it
v encouraging and supportive of y/n the whole time if they show any fear
"as long as we stick together, we've got this thing in the bag! we're the power couple to end all power couples!"
doesn't mind y/n clinging onto her and uses her hoodie as a face cover if they get a bit too scared
if she does get scared (rare), she will instictively reach out for y/n's hand
would never tease y/n for getting scared, but will giggle at how undeniably cute their screams are
lots of "scared face" selfies!!
tries to encourage y/n to keep going if they start slowing down but will not hesitate to tap out if needed
takes y/n to meet all the scare actors after closing to help them get over their fears a bit
likes to end the night with a horror movie marathon and a sweets binge
Cass:
Tumblr media
doesn't understand it.... but if it makes y/n happy then she must oblige
might need to be talked through the concept a few times while waiting in line
is a bit surprised and caught off guard if y/n decides to cling onto her
she won't reject it, she's just unsure how to reciprocate
she's definitely beat up a few scare actors that've gotten a little too close to y/n for comfort
"the masked one dares to threaten my y/n?! you will suffer unending retribution for your insolence!!"
will get incredibly angry if someone scares y/n too badly and demand an apology (and all of their candy)
keeps a close eye on y/n the entire time
if y/n decides to tap out early, she will swoop them up and carry them straight to the door
refuses to let them walk afterwards until they're absolutely 100% certain they're okay and not dying or anything
will consider it an incredible triumph if y/n makes it all the way to the end and will not let them forget just how amazing they are
Casey Jr:
Tumblr media
he's a bit wary at first, but he'd do anything to make y/n happy
is nervous and a bit worried for y/n

This was just something that had to get out of my system so I wrote it (you know how it issssss), and i wanted to share with a friend so I figured I might as well post it. The writing was incredibly rushed and perhaps messy but it’s somethingggggg! I just hope someone out here enjoys it ^^
Also if you’ve left me a request that I haven’t gotten to yet, I send my apologies and one million good vibes your wayyyy
***
The sun shone bright, kissing the skin of your bare arms. You smiled up at your boyfriend, who was walking beside you — a tall teddy bear of a man by the name of Yunho. He gave a shy smile back and took your hand in his. You couldn’t help but blush a little. This was the first time he’d taken you out in a group setting and you weren’t sure how his friends would react to the two of you together.
It wasn’t long before you realized you had little to worry about. One carousel ride in, the ice was broken when the oldest of the group got so dizzy he ran into a trashcan. His friends were all really easygoing, it seemed, and they made you feel part of the team in no time. One of Yunho’s friends in particular took the time to make you feel comfortable — a dark-haired boy with a sweet twinkle in his eyes. He asked you how you’d met, where you were from, and made light-hearted jokes when the others were talking amongst themselves.
“Ever tried these?” he said, holding up a roll of candy.
You were all in line for the log ride; a 40 minute wait, and you had to admit you were starting to get hungry.
You let him drop a single gummy-like thing into your palm. “What are they?” you asked.
“They’re chewy,” he replied as he popped one into his mouth, “a bit sour at first but sweet on the inside.”
“She doesn’t like sour things,” someone said behind you.
Yunho’s hand slid slyly around your waist and he left a quick kiss near your temple.
“No, it’s okay,” you said, putting the candy in your mouth with a smile, “it looks delicious.” You didn’t want Yunho’s friends to think you were a difficult person or anything.
*
A long half hour later the entire group was facing the safety bar to board the ride. The gates opened with a creak and everyone moved toward the boat. Just as you meant to step in beside your new friend though, Yunho took hold of your wrist and bent down to your ear.
“You go sit in the front. I’ll be right behind you.”
He moved you over to the front of the ride, getting in after you, one leg of his on either side of you. Even though the front seat usually scares you, feeling his arms wrap around you tightly made you feel secure. You leaned back against his warm chest and let the scary things come.
This was the way it was with Yunho. Nothing could ever be frightening as long as he was with you because you knew he would always protect you. Just as you’d expected, he held you tight the entire ride, his large frame shielding you from wind and water alike, leaving you the only member of the group to not come out the log ride soaking wet.
*
He was being touchy, you could tell — more than usual, even. You weren’t entirely sure why but you definitely weren’t going to complain. You loved feeling his love this way. His gaze lingered on you as you chatted to his friends, his fingers coming up to run absent-minded tracks along your arm, asking for attention. You hoped he was proud of you for being social and mingling like this.
“Let’s go in the haunted house!” the dark-haired boy exclaimed, pointing excitedly to a large structure that looked like an abandoned castle.
“I don’t know about this,” you started, limbs stiffening. You meant to turn back to Yunho but before you could face him, the other boy grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you toward the entrance.
“Come on!” he said, smiling from ear to ear, “we can all go together!”
Once at the entrance, Yunho appeared before you, blocking you from the rest of the group.
“I know you don’t like haunted houses, baby,” he said, taking your hands in his, “but don’t worry, I’m right here. Nothing is going to happen. Just hold on to me,” he explained, before giving you a small peck on the forehead. Then he turned so he was in front of you and all you could see was his broad back.
Your heart pounded as you all started walking together. You didn’t want to disappoint your boyfriend, so you held onto his waist, fingers digging into the fabric of his shirt, and followed.
“Shit,” you heard an animated whisper next to you, “it’s so dark.”
A hand came to rest on your shoulder. You flinched for a second but realized it was only one of the friends trying not to get seperated from the group.
All of a sudden, thunderous clap rattled the room and everyone screamed. There was a flash of light and the next moment, sounds that could only be described as undead, roared from behind.
“Run!” the voice next to you yelled and you all scrambled forward. There was a mess of hands tugging and pulling at you as you ran and you suddenly had no idea where Yunho was. You could tell he was still around somewhere — you knew his scent and aura all too well — but soon you weren’t sure which limb belonged to who and you didn’t have the courage to care.
Another flash broke the dark for the blink of an eye, showing a zombie-like creature standing at the end of a hall you’d just entered.
More screaming and tugging and pure chaos erupted and all you could think was how you didn’t want to be left alone. You grabbed hold of the first person you could find and together you ran screaming until, at last, you came upon a large, dimly-lit chamber.
It took no less than a second for Yunho to appear. Without a word, he pressed himself between you and the dark-haired friend, forcing you apart rather harshly. A guilty hot flush ran to your cheeks but there was no time to ponder what had just happened because the next moment, a band of monsters ran into the room, sending panic through your body once again.
“Up!” Yunho ordered as you felt him tap your thigh. Without another thought, you jumped up onto his back, letting him carry you swiftly from the room and into another dark hallway. You buried your face into his neck, squeezing you eyes closed until finally, you felt a breeze of fresh air in your hair.
*
“Ahh, today was so nice!” the dark-haired friend grinned as he slid onto the bench next to you and Yunho, “I don’t want to go back home.”
The theme park had just closed and you were finishing off the day with comfort food at a nearby family restaurant. You hadn’t had a proper meal all day and were pretty much starving at this point so you ordered a large size pizza. Another good thing about being with Yunho was that he would most likely finish whatever food you couldn’t eat. Big boys need big meals, you always said.
Low and behold, you started feeling full about halfway through your meal.
“Can I have a piece?” the dark-haired friend asked, leaning close to you with a smile.
“Sure!” You nodded, allowing him to grab a piece from your plate. You were always glad to share.
“You can try some of my fries too if you want,” he mumbled through a mouthful of pizza, “the sauce is amazing.”
They did look good, you thought, so you agreed.
“Here.” He smiled and picked up some fries with his fork. Chuckling gleefully, he moved closer to feed you but before the fork could reach your lips, high-pitched shrieks rang out all around the table as one of the drink glasses had just fallen over, spilling soda everywhere.
“Sorry,” you heard Yunho say as you and the others leaned over the table to grab tissues, “my hand slipped.”
“Be careful, baby,” you said gently, noticing a whole bunch of it had spilled in your lap as well.
“Oh no,” the dark-haired boy laughed, “that’s gonna get sticky.” He started laying tissues in your lap, patting them down with his hands when—
“I think you should go clean up in the bathroom.” Yunho’s voice was strained and dead serious. Taken off guard, you stared at him. He stared right back, eyes harder than you’d seen them all day.
“Right,” you said, scrambling up, only to realize you were still sandwiched on the bench between Yunho and the dark-haired guy. “This way,” Yunho said, taking your wrist and pulling you toward himself, making you squeeze by him.
Your face was hot as you left the table. Yunho was angry, that much was clear. Feelings of guilt flooded you. All you ever wanted was to be good to him. On a deeper, more secretive level though, you couldn’t deny the look he’d just given you made your knees weak in quite a pleasurable way.
Pull yourself together, you thought as you entered the hallway to the bathrooms. You stopped for a second to catch your breath, wondering what exactly was going on. You thought everything had been going great; you were getting closer to his friends and you were really starting to—
Someone gave you a push. You gasped as a hand tugged your shoulder, turning you around and shoving you against the wall.
“Yunho,” you whispered breathlessly.
“What do you think you’re doing?” your boyfriend said in a low voice. His hands were on either side of your face and his large frame towered over you, trapping you.
“What do you mean?” you asked, staring up at him hopelessly. Yunho was not a scary guy. He was like a golden retriever; happy-go-lucky, playful and so so sweet; so the rare times something did piss him off, it made your heart thump a million miles an hour.
He shook his head, brows furrowed. “Baby girl, don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about.” One of his hands left the wall to caress your cheek, gently, though his eyes were still intense as ever. “I had to watch my princess, all day, getting ju—-st a little too close to my friend.” His fingers moved down your chin, trailing you neck so lightly and so slowly you had to hold your breath. They traveled down to your chest, where one finger poked you. “Do you know how that makes me feel?”
Realization hit you like the strike of lightning. In all your anxiousness trying to get his friends to like you, you hadn’t stopped to consider your boundaries as much as you probably should have.
“Yunho, I—”
“Do you know how hard it is for me to watch you be touched by anyone else?” he said, his voice strained with emotion.
“I didn’t mean to, I swear—”
“You were going to let him feed you.”
“I’m sorry—”
“Do you know who you belong to?”
You stared at him with desperation in your eyes. “I’m yours, baby, I promise.”
“Say that again,” he said darkly, hand coming to hold your chin.
“I’m yours, Yunho. Yours only—” you let out a gasp as his other hand ran down your side to your thighs momentarily, then back up, landing at your waist and squeezing softly.
“That’s good,” he said and you could tell the fire in his eyes was dying down. He pulled you close by the small of your back and let out a breath against your ear.
“Yunho,” you whispered, barely audible. He felt so overwhelmingly good against you.
Fingers caressed your back as he trailed little kisses down the shell of your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
“You like that don’t you?” he murmured and all you could do was hum in response.
“You want more of that, don’t you?” he went on.
“Yes, please.” Your answer was automatic.
“Well,” he went on exploring your body, “if you want more of this, you’re going to have to be a very good girl for me.” He turned his head to face you, so close you could feel his breath on your lips. “Can you do that for me princess?”
You nodded and finally, he smiled again, love flooding his features once more. He gave you one soft, slow, lingering kiss that made your legs feel like they might give out, before pulling away and grabbing you by the hand.
“Let’s finish dinner quickly so we can get home soon.”
You knew what that meant, and suddenly, you couldn’t wait to leave.

(Master list, Previous ch, Next ch)
I sit in the backseat of the Impala, the wind blowing from the open window, messing up my hair and the book I have in my lap. My spell book. I look down at the hard brown book, only minutes ago did I have a small fight with Dean about what to do with it but even now the urge to do something itches at my bones.
With a small huff I open my bag pulling out a pen before flipping open to the page, on the top left corner I write “April 2005–bags did not work on a house haunted with a poltergeist.” The small warning did nothing to ease me but it would have to do for now, because to rip the page would be to destroy a piece of my mother and a piece of myself.
Dean was right, I'm not afraid to admit that, I am afraid to admit, however, that I acted harshly to his remarks. I knew I shouldn’t have reacted like that, I knew it even in the moment but the words left me too quickly for any rationale to hit me. I felt bad, it must have been hard for him to see his mom again and then there I was causing an argument to rub salt in a wound. Most of all I pity myself for getting like that, an awful anger festering in my gut.
"Hey, how 'bout we grab a bite and take a breather?" Dean suddenly speaks, breaking the silence of the car. I look up from my lap, where the book rested, I meet his eyes in the rear view mirror giving a small nod. I was hoping we would stop somewhere for a while so I could sneak away and visit someone. Sam agrees too so we drive on for a while.
I watch the view from my window the whole time, watching the trees and buildings go by when it suddenly becomes very familiar. I don’t know if it was on purpose or not but we pulled right up in front of my favorite diner, I always went there it had become a go-to very quickly. Different memories flash in my mind to the many times I went with my brother, friends, and even Dean. It’s then that I think it must have been on purpose but instead of happiness filling me it’s a sort of dred.
Even so nothing more is said as we exit the car, but just as I close the door behind me I say, “You guys go ahead, I'm not hungry.”
Dean gives me a confused look but it’s Sam that speaks up, “Do you want us to save you something?”
“No no it’s okay, thanks” I shake my head, clutching the strap of my bag to me. “Could you just text me whatever motel we’ll be staying at, in case I come back and you're not here”
“Where ‘you heading off to?” Dean asks, confusion and concern written in his eyes.
“Oh, I’m just gonna walk around” I half lie with a tight lipped smile to finish it off. Still Dean looks at me skeptically, which I suppose is completely fair, but he doesn't say anything about my blatant lie either. With a simple bye I walk away swiftly, feeling the burn of their gaze on me, only slowing down when I'm out of sight.
My feet guide me, the route so familiar I could do it blindfolded. I spent so many years in this town, and yet it all seems so foreign. It was like I was walking back in time directly toward my past, except nothing is exactly as I remembered it to be. I hate to admit it but I never thought I’d be doing this again.
At each crossroad I wait at, my heart feels like it’s being squeezed. A desperate sadness filling my lungs, how was it possible for something to be so familiar yet so foreign? It didn’t make sense. Yes time changes all things, and yet I think I expected it to still be the same like it couldn’t possibly change because this is where I grew up. Maybe it was because I never thought of this place anymore, hadn’t needed too. My past died here and I moved on because it was the only thing left to do. I never came back, never visited, never wondered what my friends who I met here were doing.
It hurt too much to think of Kansas when out of all the wonderful memories only the worst ones stuck out, branding itself to this place I called home.
I slow to a stop in front of a flower shop, the same one I always went to. I enter the small establishment, the bell ringing as I open the door. The strong aroma of all sorts of flowers hitting my nose, I don’t need to look around to know exactly what I want. What I came for.
I walked up to the counter immediately noticing the owner wasn't behind it, I remembered she always was and she even refused to hire any workers because this was her store and she didn’t want any “hooligans” to ruin her work. I have to remind myself that it’s been years, not a week or a month but years since I’ve been here. She probably retired or…no. I won’t let myself think that.
I leave with my bouquet of forget me-nots and white roses, my moms two favorite flowers. I hold the assortment gently as I continue my long walk. My mother loved forget me-nots she would gush over the meaning and the many poems and analogies she had heard, she was a romantic so the meaning was never lost on her. I definitely got that from her.
Eventually I arrive at the cemetery, the large black gate creaking as I push it open. I carry on the path taking a couple twists and turns before arriving at the gravestones. It was unkempt with dead leaves covering it, the sight alone made me want to cry. I wipe away the leaves that lay on top of it, using my shirt to clear the dirt from her name not caring about it getting dirty. I sit criss-cross right in front of her, “Hi mommy” I smile sadly, tears already filling my eyes. “I brought you flowers” I lift them slightly in emphasis.
Feeling it to be too improper to just lie them down, I produce a glass vase filled with water. Carefully I take the plastic wrapping off the bouquet, freeing the flowers from their restraint before placing them in the vase just beside her grave stone.
I let out a heavy sigh, “I missed you…I’m sorry I haven’t visited you since I moved away”
“God.” I sigh, looking up to the blue sky, fluffy clouds scattered over it, trying to prevent the tears from falling.
“You know” I laugh sadly, looking back at her, “This whole time we were here I planned on seeing you and I thought of so many things i’d like to tell you about, but now.…” I breathe out. “I don’t know.”
“There’s hardly a day that goes by in which I don’t miss you, It’s gotten easier since, well, you know.”
“But being here.” My voice trembles, “I feel as if I could lose my mind to the grief, I thought I was past that. Past being so…lost. Alone?”
I laugh, tears falling from my eyes, “I could really use one of your hugs right now”
I wiped my face, my cheeks feeling stiff from the tears, “I met your friend Missouri, she’s great, I'm surprised you or dad never mentioned her before.”
“Um. I’m with the Winchesters right now, helping ‘em out” I tell her, trying to think of the positives right now instead of the squeezing of my heart.
I swallow down a sob, my throat feeling tight with emotion once more, “I know you’d like to hear all the good in my life but being here, I can’t— I just. I miss you”
“I don’t care if that’s redundant when it’s the truth, I just…I’m so lonely” A sob breaks through my lips, and the tears flow down my face rapidly only this time I don’t try and conceal it. “That sounds so horrible to say because I’m with people I love and care so deeply for, yet something feels wrong. Something is missing and I don't feel quite whole.”
More tears fall, my eyes blur with it. Her gravestone and the flowers turn into a gray, green, blue, and white mix. “Have you ever felt that way?” I ask her even though I know I won’t get a response.
I sit there in silence for a few moments not really knowing what to say or what to do. I don’t want to leave just yet because I don’t know when I’ll be back, and to leave would feel like turning my back on her all over again. I scoot the way I sit so that my back is resting on the side of her gravestone with my legs extended in front of me. I lean my head to the side to rest on the frigid stone.
“I figure I’d find you here” A deep familiar voice suddenly says. My eyes shoot up from my fingers, watching Dean's approaching figure, a cup of something in each hand. I swiftly sit up, wiping at my face quickly trying to remove any evidence that I'd been crying, “What are you doing here.”
“Well Sammy bailed on me for some beauty sleep after you left. Noticed you were off, especially when you skipped out on one of your favorite diners.
‘Figured you’d end up here.” He’s closer now only a few paces away, I stand up to meet him. I don’t understand why he came or how he even remembered where her grave would be, “No offense but why’d you come here?”
He shrugs all nonchalantly, “Didn’t want you to be alone.” It was sweet he was here but it almost felt awkward, like this was too private of a moment. “I can leave if you want” He offers, sensing my hesitance.
“No! no it’s okay, thank you for coming, that's really sweet of you.” I spill out quickly, leaving out the part that my mom wouldn’t mind him being here either.
He shrugs again, “You’d do the same for me.”
“Also, I brought you a milkshake for old time sake. Wasn’t sure what flavor you’d go for, but knowing how indecisive you are anyway I got you a vanilla chocolate mix thing.” He extendeds one of the blue paper cups towards me and I knew he got them from the diner.
I take the cup from him, the coolness immediately seeping into my hand, “You know me well” I smile looking down at the milkshake not being able to meet his eyes. Now sweet wasn’t even the right word to describe him, he brought us milkshakes because when we hung out we would almost always go to a diner and get them with fries or a whole meal depending.
“I told you I did” He responds, reminding me again of our previous “fight.”
I look back at my moms grave, the flowers I brought sitting in the vase somehow the scene feeling lighter now. “We can stay, drink these here, if you want.” He offers, again sensing what I’m thinking.
I turn my head back towards him, this time meeting his green eyes, “No it’s okay.” And it was, I knew my mom would want this. She would want me to walk away now when I was happier and with someone I loved—that romantic in her shining through again. He nods and we begin to walk away, I take a sip of the milkshake, “God that’s good” I smile and he laughs.
We walk silently mostly, “Sorry about before, with the spell book. You were right.”
He swings his free arm around my shoulder tugging me closer to his side, “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.”

you bring me home - matty healy
part one
series masterlist: :)
wc: 1.9K
Tumblr media
Nothing could have ever prepared Caroline for the world as she knew it suddenly ceasing to exist and being forced to move in with her brother and his best friend. Well maybe saying he forced her was a bit of an exaggeration but George had been very clear that she could join them willingly or he would come and pick her up because he wasn't leaving her to mope and deal with her recent heartbreak all by herself for who knows how long.
Just weeks ago her fiancé, well, she should say ex-fiancé now broke things off with her while they were visiting wedding venues because he claimed he didn't love her anymore. It had been like a sudden rough force hitting her in the stomach. Knees almost crippling underneath her and the bright smile she had been bearing since they arrived vanished within milliseconds. The sharp pain left her gasping for air, at the mercy of the cold man who had so casually ripped her heart out.
Now she was living by herself in their formerly shared apartment. Haunted by memories everywhere she turned. She couldn't sleep in their bedroom anymore, not when she was greeted every morning with the right hand side of the bed empty and untouched. She had boxed up all of the belongings he had left behind once the anger at the situation had passed but she hadn't been able to open it since. And then there was the ring. It felt wrong to keep wearing it when it was a reminder of her farce of a relationship but she still loved it. Mainly because she had picked the ring out herself because he never knew what jewellery to buy her - seriously, Caroline had never worn silver in her life and what did he get her for every anniversary and holiday? The same silver heart necklace.
Glancing out of the apartment window Caroline noticed the raindrops sliding down the glass. How fucking appropriate, she mused. George had rang her earlier to say that he was on the way to pick her up so she found herself waiting eagerly to catch a glimpse of his car. At first she had been hesitant to even accept his offer of moving into the studio for however long they were in lockdown and living with her brother for the first time since they were teenagers. But after spending the past few weeks feeling like a ghost in what was once her home, she desperately needed the change in scenery, and company.
Apparently she had completely missed his car pulling up outside even in her concentrated efforts because a knock rapped against the door. Caroline quickly headed to unlock it and within seconds George was stood before her. "Hey, Caro," George said hugging her tightly "ready for a change of scenery?"
Caroline nodded. "I think I'd go insane if I stayed here any longer G."
"Well," George shot her a grin "I can't promise that you won't go insane living with Matty but it's definitely better than moping in here by yourself."
Matty. That had been the only real reason she had felt so hesitant accepting George's offer. They had never really been close considering their age gap. Caroline had still been in school when the band started to take off and by that point the boys had surpassed the need for family members filling the audience at their gigs. She had met her brother's closest friend a few times over the years, mainly when he would come over to their house to get high with George in his room. Caroline had the biggest crush on him back then, not that she would ever admit it, but she had a suspicion that he knew because of the occasional joke he made when they got older.
She'd played the part of the supportive sister at their early gigs and she made sure to support them by going to whatever shows she could get time off work. George was incredibly talented but there was no denying Matty's charisma on stage. Caroline hated how easily he captured her attention whenever she watched one of their performances. No matter how hard she tried to focus on the whole band, her gaze always wandered back to the one member who'd never really given her the time of day.
Even at 25 she was convinced that he still only saw her as George's kid sister. And she’d accepted that - it was a childhood crush and destined to be nothing more. She was meant to be getting married to another man after all. A man who she had once believed to be the love of her life. However, she supposed it was true what they said about your first love because she’d never forgotten about it. If you could even call unrequited infatuation fuelled by adolescent pining a first love.
"I dealt with both of you growing up," Caroline deadpanned "I think I can handle it just fine."
George feigned offence momentarily but he knew it wasn't an argument he was ever going to win if he let Caroline get started. Similarly to Matty she could talk for England - the only difference being she had some self control and it mainly showed when she was really passionate about something, whereas Matty just never shut up.
With that Caroline had handed her bags to a reluctant George and she left the apartment without a second glance. Deep down she was tempted to take a minute to remember the place which for the last five years of her life she had called home but everything about it was as tainted as the wilting roses forever frozen in time that she didn't have the heart to replace.
George loaded her bags into the back of his car when they reached it before turning to Caroline with a teasing grin "do you want to drive?"
"Do you have a death wish?" she beamed back at him "because if you do I'm more than happy to assist."
Caroline's relationship with driving had always been a constant source of entertainment for her brother. Even after he moved out, it still never failed to bring him some amusement. She was an absolute menace on the roads and had failed her driving test an impressive ten times before deciding that maybe she just wasn't meant to drive. Initially George had been the one forced to take her driving to appease their parents but he quickly grew bored of attempting to teach his sister who he claimed was hopeless (and maybe he was right but that wasn't the point.) He ended up pawning her off to Hann because he was the most sensible one and Ross would just encourage her chaotic tendencies on the road and Matty wasn't much better himself.
He gestured to the passenger seat in the car and Caroline took the hint. She climbed into the car, her emotions swirling within her, yet finding comfort in her brother's presence. George settled into the driver's seat beside her, his strong hands gripping the steering wheel with determination. "Ready passenger princess?"
"Look G," Caroline smirked "some people were meant to drive and the rest of us were born to be driven everywhere .
As the engine roared to life, Caroline quicky seized control of the aux. Moving slowly at first as they pulled away from her now old apartment building, before picking up speed as they left the city behind. Caroline watched the scenery pass by a blur of buildings and streets transforming into sprawling landscapes.
Throughout the drive Caroline noticed George glancing over at her whenever he thought she wasn't aware of it. As overbearing as his protective brother act could be sometimes she found herself especially grateful for it this time.  Their shared silence spoke volumes and their unspoken bond conveyed all the comfort and understanding in the world.
"Matty's already here, by the way," George informed her as they approached the secluded studio.
That was all Caroline really took in. For the remainder of the journey she felt like she was just an autopilot. Like she was just a shell in place of a human. Then before she knew it George brought the car to a complete stop and parked it right in front of the studio. She later eyes on Matty instantly although not intentionally, he just so happened to be caught in her direct line of vision immediately after she hoped out of the car. He looked good. Happier than she’d seen him in years.
When their gazes locked for the first time in a year Caroline was slightly intimidated by the intensity of Matty’s stare but it melted away and reformed into the familiar teasing smile she had come to associate with Matty. She desperately to part her lips and speak but something was stopping her. It was unlike Matty to hold back like this as well and Caroline didn’t know what to make of this sudden reserved demeanour to him. They were at a standstill with George completely unaware of their staring match as he unloaded both of their bags from the back of his car. Caroline felt as though her throat was stuck and all the witty comments she’d been calculating in the back of her mind were suddenly wiped from her memory.
Despite having the ability to hear Matty’s voice at anytime through his music and interviews, Caroline was ever grateful that she’d been blessed with the opportunity to hear it in person. Yet even after being so sure she could resist the almost magnetic pull Matty’s voice had on her, any hope of finally being free of that childhood crush she’d never been able to let go of quickly diminished the second those words fell from Matty’s lips.
They fell like soft, music notes. A mixture of quavers, minims and crotchets perfectly arranged to enthrall her and leave her practically speechless at the beautiful melody they created that was Matty’s voice. And Caroline’s heartbeat? In that moment it mimicked a crescendo like no other. One that would put all of the greatest musicians and composers to shame.
Matty’s surprisingly veiny and dexterous hand filled her vision pulling her abruptly out of her quiet admiration as he notably leaned against the doorframe. “Well, well, well, look who's finally here. The famous Caroline Daniel graces us with her presence."
Caroline felt her cheeks turning a shade of pink so she tried to brush it off by playfully rolled her eyes in an effort to compose herself. “If anyone’s famous here darling we both know it’s not me,” Caroline grinned “I’m just here because George didn’t want me to have a mental breakdown by myself.”
Matty chuckled his voice laced with a hint of mischief “Say the word love and I’ll join you…” before his tone turned more genuine “for what it’s worth, I've missed having you around."
She wanted to make a stinging comment about that being a first. Or about him finally properly acknowledging and taking to her for the first time in years. But she held back. If they were going to be living together with only George as a mediator she didn’t want to purposefully instigate things. Besides, she was just here so she didn’t have to wallow in her misery alone. Not even the presence of the only guy she’d never really gotten over could throw a wrench in that, right?

Yoongi [8:20pm]: You’re next :))
Shaken, you stash your phone, a large hand clapping on your shoulder the second thing that makes you yelp.
Tae’s concern is ruined by a giggle, “You okay? This room’s empty.”
“Says you,” you scoff, “Y’all just went too fast.”
He looks around, taking in the boarded up walls and funhouse mirrors shrouded in dark cloth. More random roars and screams echo throughout the building, but neither of you are deterred.
“Well. Unlike you, I’m not scared of my reflection.”
Ass! Feigning a pout, you charge ahead of his laughs, “Yeah, whatever. Let’s go.”
“What did he send you?”
“Huh?”
Taehyung easily catches up to your still form with confident strides, pointing at your bag. “I saw that,” he reveals through a smirk. “No way it could’ve been anyone else.”
Damn it.
The group behind you sounds close, so you and Tae make your way through a hallway of webs while you admit,
“He sent a fucking photo.”
“Of himself?”
“Yeah.”
Taehyung brushes a dangling cobweb as he has to crouch, voice is so deep that you have to lean in to hear, “That’s actually shocking.”
“I know!” you exclaim in a whisper. “That’s why I’m slightly freaked out.”
“Did he say anything else?”
“He—Fuck!”
The puff of air that shoots right into your side makes you collide into your friend, and he catches you with strong arms while blowing out amusement.
“Shut up.”
“I’ve never seen you this jumpy!” He lets out another laugh as you leave the air-filled corridor and enter another dark room. “It’s so cute.”
“I just. He just.” You sigh, fishing out your phone to show him the thread because you can’t bring yourself to repeat it out loud.
And as soon as Taehyung sees both the picture and the text, his face releases a whole flurry of butterflies across your chest.
“That’s the scariest thing I’ve seen all day.”
“See? What the fuck.”
“You’re in more trouble than I thought.”
You groan, pocketing your phone and hearing Yuri’s scream a few rooms away, the telltale giggles following right after.
Dom also cusses so loud that both you and Taehyung burst into laughter yourselves.
Maybe Yoongi’s texts showed up on their phones, too. Since that’s the only frightening thing you can think of right now.
“What’re you gonna say?”
“Absolutely nothing,” you claim, eyes darting to the hisses and squawks around the glowing area. There’s no way you can respond right now, especially since he’s walking around with your brother.
“Why not?”
“You know exactly why!”
“Damn,” Taehyung comments, drawing out the syllable to try and guilt you. “He eyefucks you and you leave him hanging…”
“Tae!”
“I’m sorry, did we look at the same picture? He even—”
You launch yourself in an attempt to cover his mouth, but he easily swats your arms away.
“He”—a muffled giggle—“Even gave you tongue—”
Your groan is more like a cry this time as you shut your eyes in defeat, the picture already burned so hard into your vision that you still see it.
Because fucking hell, Yoongi knows what he did.
Footsteps and chatter approach from behind again, so you and Tae move forward while steam escapes your ears.
“Just send one thing.”
“No.”
“He clearly sent that without remorse,” he notes, and the bubbling sounds of a cauldron are all you get in warning before a humongous witch charges out of nowhere.
Shrieking.
Both you and Tae yell in response, amused at how smushed together and bent backwards you are when the worker retreats into her station.
“I did not expect her to be seven feet tall.”
“I’m gonna ask her out.”
After you head into the next room—adrenaline spiked into the ceiling—your friend reminds you of his persistence.
“Humor me,” he starts, and you tilt your head with lips pursed. “He’d lose his shit!”
“What do I even send?”
“Whatever’s in your heart.”
“Wow.”
“Or your p—”
“Stop.”
While he laughs, you spot a tiny sign hovering over a dark door on your right.
Bathroom, you assume? Maybe for costume changes.
“Okay, fine,” you relent, taking out your phone and knowing this could be a super bad idea. “But I’m only sending this because I’m tired of you.”
“Whatever. You love being goaded.”
Staring at your thread, you walk forward with tiny steps, wondering what the hell to say.
His picture is certainly not helping.
The only thing you can come up with is your default. The same damn concept you fell back on at the booth. Because if your earlier taunt resulted in whatever fresh hell this was, you’re highly interested in seeing what your text will bring.
Huffing a frown at Taehyung, you show him what you wrote.
And he gives you a triumphant smirk in return.
You [8:30pm]: do it u won’t🙄
Tumblr media
After you get through the haunted house, the street is a lot more crowded, with lights illuminating everyone’s heads and distinct festival sounds embedding in your ears.
Since all of you decide that the adrenaline and scare-induced laughter will quickly turn into hunger, you head to one of the food stalls calling your noses. Which is great timing because you need a good distraction.
Because ever since you sent the text, you’ve been checking your phone periodically, both relieved and anxious that Yoongi hasn’t replied. Like your mind can’t decide which outcome is better.
It’s only after you order and stand next to Tae that you feel a message come through.
And suddenly your bag weighs a ton.
You give your friend a look before you check it, and he watches as you clutch your phone a tad tighter.
Yoongi [8:45pm]: Wanna bet?
You [8:45pm]: omg u know u can’t
Yoongi [8:45pm]: Bet I can
What the hell? If he’s around your brother being this brazen then you’re full-on dreaming.
The wind picks up, and you shiver as you type your next message.
You [8:47pm]: ???
Yoongi [8:48pm]: He left lol. I’m with Jimin now
Oh.
Your brother left?
And Yoongi stayed?
…That changes things.
You [8:50pm]: just y’all?
Yoongi [8:52pm]: Yeah
Yoongi [8:53pm]: Rather it be just us though :\
Your phone damn near falls out of your hand.
Because this cannot be happening.
What kind of alternate reality did you step into? Why is he suddenly so forthcoming you want to hurl your device into the nearest bin?
Whatever it is, he needs to quit before you run out of air.
Humming, you grapple onto reality before diving into conversation with Tae.
“It’s just him and Jimin now.”
“Now what?”
“I dunno!” you whisper, appalled that he’s left you out to dry in the cold. “You’re the one that put me up to this.”
He laughs. “I just wanted to see what he’d say. I didn’t expect to get this far.”
Groaning, you look down at your texts, wondering what the hell to do.
You [8:55pm]: just us?🥺
Yoongi [8:56pm]: Acting cute won’t work today, doll
Yoongi [8:57pm]: Not after what you pulled
Well.
Shit.
Everyone else at this festival be damned.
You [9:00pm]: i don’t recall a thing
Yoongi [9:05pm]: Uh huh
Yoongi [9:05pm]: You’re just making it worse for yourself
As your other friends get their food, you watch them go to a table before you sigh,
“Wish I could see him.”
The words come out so naturally that you even surprise yourself.
And Taehyung’s smile can be heard in his voice when he replies,
“Then do that.”
“Not here,” you mutter. “There’s way too many people around.”
“So?” When you shoot him a rueful look, he cocks a brow. “Everyone’s just enjoying themselves. I can sit with them if you wanna find him.”
Your heart skips right into Tae’s hands.
“You sure?”
“Yeah. Keep it quick, though,” he says, looking towards the table your friends huddle around, eating and finally quiet. “Even though they look beat. They could still be down for stuff.”
“We stayed up so late last night,” you explain through a smile. “Movie marathons are no joke at Reia’s place.”
“Wow, thanks for the invite.”
“We thought—Well, I thought you were busy.”
“Mm. Perhaps.”
You don’t know what you’d do without Taehyung in your life. If only you were able to pack him in your car to keep during your university days.
But alas. He’s here now. And being the most supportive of your sneaky ways as he can be.
After you go up to get your food, you hold the container in one hand while messaging. “Lemme see what he says.”
You [9:07pm]: prove it then
It doesn’t take long for him to answer.
Yoongi [9:09pm]: You sure?
You [9:09pm]: i got 15 min tops
Yoongi [9:10pm]: Lmaoo that’s plenty
Yoongi [9:11pm]: Call me when you dip
Can he get any more insufferable today?
That’s plenty? For what!
Nerves buzz as you and Tae make a plan before you walk off, hoping at least Dominique understands where you’re going.
Well. You’re gonna get an earful later either way. May as well make this fifteen minutes count.
But when you’re a safe distance away in the crowd, you ring him up, wondering what could possibly await you on the other side of the line.
“Hi.”
“Hey. Where are you?”
“By the food trucks.”
“Head towards the haunted house. There’s gonna be a churros stall on your left.”
A churros stall? You didn’t expect that.
“Okay.”
“You want anything?”
“No, it’s okay! I just got food.”
“K. We’ll be here.”
Tumblr media
How you can instantly spot Yoongi in a crowd is always gonna be a mystery.
Even with his hood up and draped in dark colors, your eyes zero right onto him, watching as he grabs something from a vendor that turns incredibly shy.
And Yoongi swivels in time to see your smile of understanding, too far away to catch the way you cease breathing.
Which is good. He doesn’t need his ego inflated even more.
“Hi.”
“Hey.”
Looking around, you take in the rest of the line and wonder, “Where’s Jimin?”
“Getting something else.”
Oh.
He leads you around the corner, settling into a space between the stalls only occupied by trash cans and trodden leaves. A tiny nook where you can pretend that you’re just hanging out with Yoongi like it’s the most normal thing.
And suddenly it’s your favorite area of the festival.
“Those smell so good,” you notice, mouth salivating as you lean on the warm side of the churro booth.
“Want some?”
“Nah. This was expensive enough.” Grabbing the wrapping, you look around at the people passing by.
Did you say no because you feel jittery enough standing here with him? Maybe. Because the butterflies in your stomach aren’t just from getting to spend alone time outside. Their wings are still dusting bits of paranoia along your rib cage.
“Suit yourself,” Yoongi tuts, getting a full bite while observing the night crowd. The crunch is enough to make you regret ordering the subpar meal you just paid for.
After the two of you get a few bites in, the sounds of cooking and games and voices fill the silence.
Before Yoongi disrupts with two words.
“Gimme some.”
“What?”
“Your food. Feed me some.”
You gawk, almost dropping the bite in your hand. “Umm, no?”
“Come on,” he persists with a lift of his cocky chin. “No one’ll notice.”
“Are you serious?” Alarmed, you swing your neck around to see if there’s anyone you suddenly know, senses on high alert. “People could see us—”
He.
Just took what was in your hand.
With his mouth.
As you still feel the cold air where his lips touched your fingers, he swallows in triumph. “Said you were next.”
This entire night is a fever dream.
You don’t even know what to say, much less do. Your head is literally quite empty, and any brain cell you can find seems to be focused on one thing and one thing only.
“Yoongi, I swear…”
“What?” He laughs. “Thought I was talking about something else?”
“I…” Blinking, you look at his unfinished churros. “Didn’t know what to think, honestly.”
He hands you his container while taking yours. “Didn’t even send a pic back,” he points out, and you think you hear a smidge of pout in his words.
Of course you weren’t gonna. But you only offer an excuse, “It was dark in there.”
“Just one,” he says, leaning onto the stall next to you. “Just once.”
After a moment of silence, he tacks on,
“Of your ass.”
“Yoongi.”
He’s laughing! You’re drowning in complete shock and suffering and he’s full on elated.
You’ve never seen him like this. Even if you were mad at him, you’d still smile. “What’s up with you today?”
Is it the season? The weather change? There has to be something about today that’s responsible for his mood. And you want to thank whatever it is until it gets tired of you.
Yoongi just looks at you with creased eyes before huffing. “You really got me at that damn booth.”
Oh. That’s not possible.
There’s no way all of this is because of something you said.
You look away with a shy curve of your lips. “Yeah, well. You got me, too.” Turning, you poke his chest with a nail. “So this isn’t over.”
“The hell it isn’t.”
You expected something completely different to happen in these fifteen minutes, but you’re enjoying yourself as is, just hanging out and eating outside.
And Yoongi’s the happiest you’ve ever seen him.
Any amount of time to witness him like this is already worth it.
Your bag buzzes, and both you and Yoongi look down at the sound.
Taeee😪 [9:17pm]: Take your time. They left and I’m gonna do the haunted house with Jimin.
Wait.
They left?
How the hell did Tae swing that?
You [9:18pm]: they left??
Taeee😪 [9:17pm]: Yeah. I told them I’d take you back to Reia’s when we were done here.
Ten-thousand lunches.
You owe him ten-thousand, very good lunches.
Every single thought in your body enlarges, crowding you to the brim with excitement and outright giddiness.
Time. You get so much more time.
But the logical side of your brain is quick to remind you: you’re still out in public. There’s a chance that people can still see you out with Yoongi, especially the people looking to hang out with him, too.
All this opportunity, but what do you do? What even can you do?
“Need to go?”
You quickly tear away from your phone, and the guarded look on Yoongi’s face makes you feel the guiltiest you’ve felt in awhile. Because you’re positive your expression is giving away the conflict raging through your brain.
“No, I…”
You didn’t like that look. Not one bit.
But what do you do? What can you and Yoongi… do…
Looking back down at your text, you realize.
The answer is right there.
Immediately, you snap your gaze back to him and blurt, “Do the haunted house with me.”
“Huh?”
“Or, us. Jimin and Tae are going.”
Yoongi switches from wary to defeated when he sighs. “Don’t make me do that.”
“Why not?”
When he looks away, his lips slip into a curve of regret. “Cus fuck that. But I’m gonna if you want me to.”
Your heart throbs.
As much as you wanna see him go through the house, the ultimate plan is something else entirely. But that’ll be kept under wraps to keep it a surprise. “I’ll protect you,” is all you decide to pledge.
“I wasn’t kidding. I’ll swing.”
“No need! It’s not even a scary one.”
He gives you a look of disbelief. “If you’re lying I’m leaving your ass.”
“Rude? Trust me.”
You await his answer, not wanting to push too hard if he really doesn’t wanna do it. Obviously, you don’t wanna unearth any potential trauma or whatever. You’re totally fine coming up with something else.
But he just aims slitted eyes your way. “Fine.”
Laughing at his fake leer, you tell him he’ll be alright.
If you can get him into the haunted house, you’re golden.
All you gotta do is get him past the witch.
Tumblr media
After twenty minutes—thanks to a Jimin that roped you into the front of the line—you’re almost there.
But the journey proves just as naughty as your destination.
“Yoongi!” you whisper, moving your ass away from another playful grab. “Stop!”
His laughs in the dark are much more potent. “Why.”
“What if someone sees?”
“All they’d do is agree with me,” Yoongi confidently answers in a low tone, and you can only see a sliver of his side profile thanks to his hood still up. “It’s too nice in that skirt.”
If only you remembered the webbed hallway as well as you recalled the hidden bathroom’s location. You ended up getting the same puff of air on your ear, which caused you to flinch sideways into him.
But unlike Taehyung who just laughed, Yoongi seized the opportunity to also hold you against him before letting go, slapping your ass to move you forward.
And paired with the darkness, your weak scoldings have only made him bolder since then. You yourself almost break before you even make it to the witch’s room.
But you hold on, cackling as much as the towering woman yourself when you see Yoongi’s fists challenge her rapid approach. When you feel him clutch your arms while trying to suppress a grin, you only laugh even harder, loving how unfiltered his actions are.
It’s almost like…
There it is. The tiny bathroom sign behind a wall of curtains in the next room.
Yoongi’s already surveying the dark for another scare, completely oblivious to your devious plan. “I swear if there’s something in here, too—”
“Come here,” you whisper, grabbing his hand.
He only looks at the contact before eyeing you, and you bite your lip to keep yourself in check, not saying another word while leading him to the hidden door.
When he catches on, the look he gives you is devilish.
“Nu uh.”
Your curve only gets wider as you check the narrow space between the curtains at the door, parting the heavy material enough to get by and head into the empty restroom.
Aside from knocking on Yoongi’s door and asking him to fuck you, this is the second most daring thing you’ve done in awhile. And your stomach has almost the same type of twists as before. Just minus the fear of rejection and broken self-confi—
Closing the door behind him in a rush, Yoongi twists your body to pin you against the nearest wall, not even bothering to turn on the light.
Which makes his low, gravelly question twenty times worse,
“You plan this?”
Heart pulsing wild, you squish your lips before admitting, “Maybe.”
“That’s hot as fuck.”
Your mouth is smushed as you bang against the plaster, and you run your fingers along his neck while licking cinnamon and sugar off his tongue.
“Someone might use it, though,” you warn between hard kisses. “We can’t be here long.”
He wedges a thigh in between your legs before giving your side a spank. “Then hurry up. No shy shit this time.”
Moan muffled, you roll against him, the thrill of being exactly where you shouldn’t be fueling your thrusts.
Because you shouldn’t have done this.
Oh god, why the hell did you sneak in here employees could come in at any se—
“Is that all you got, baby girl?”
Fuck, his voice got a lot closer to your ear.
When you swallow, he continues with an insult,
“What a shame. Thought I taught you better than that.”
“Fuck—”
Yoongi grabs the back of your neck before devouring your lips again, tongue flicking yours while a hand wanders along your leg, your side, your ass. When he clutches what he can in his palm, he guides you in a rhythm that matches the thrusts of his mouth, and you practically melt right onto his jeans.
“There you go,” he praises, chuckling right after. “Goddamn, I wanna taste you.”
His name escapes you in a gasp. Because you feel like you’re already pushing it as is. Shit, you need to wrap this the hell up.
Shivering with nerves, you whisper, “I don’t think we can.”
If only your body followed the same rules as your brain. It’s only staying still as Yoongi loops a finger into the hem of your bottoms, shivering when he tugs you forward, and responding when he claims your lips again.
“We can.”
“You sure?”
“This won’t take long.”
His last kiss steals not only your breath, but any other arguments on your lips.
“Okay,” you whisper, hearing the sounds of the haunted house right outside the door. “Okay.”
“Now cover your mouth, doll,” he orders while dropping to the ground. Swinging a shaking leg over his shoulder, he sounds frighteningly close to your soaked panties. “You’re gonna scream.”
“We—”
Your only other warning is a finger shifting your thong—hot, determined tongue replacing it while a rough hand holds your leg in place.
Holy fuck.
You buck forward on contact, yell pushing through your fingers as a strong hum instead.
And he doesn’t say anything else as he feasts, licking along your cunt and grabbing the side of your ass with his free hand. Darkness takes away your vision but heightens everything else, and you’ve never heard dirty sounds so crystal clear.
He’s right. This isn’t gonna take you much longer.
It’s more than obvious he’s done this countless times before.
Your legs dissolve into jelly when he sucks, but you feel your knees give out when the lightest of kisses are planted against your nub. Again. And again.
When did your fingers get tangled in his hair? When did your leg lock so hard you don’t feel it anymore? You don’t know. You don’t care. All you know is to rock forward, controlled by the single string that is his tongue.
Until he adds two knuckles, rubbing them against your clit and making you flinch.
A dark rumble thrums against your cunt, and you feel his body shift to… a standing position?
No no no.
“That’s all you get, baby girl.”
“What?”
“You said we had to hurry.”
“You said it wouldn’t take long!”
“Did I lie?”
“Yoongi,” you breathe out, ragged. “I’m so close, fuck.”
“Damn.” He brushes wet knuckles against your lips, and you groan at the taste. “That sucks.”
“Yoongi, I swear to god.”
“You said we had to go.”
“I… You…” Your cunt is throbbing so hard you feel like crying. “Don’t make me do it myself.”
He gets in close, heady scent of his breath pooling across your face. “Poor baby,” he teases, one finger jolting you upward with a single, soft touch to your slit. When he slaps your cunt instead of anything else, you whine before he slips vengeance in your ear,
“You get me wet, I do the same. It’s only fair.”
Your fingers find his sleeves immediately. “This isn’t fair and you know it.”
“You’re the one that brought me in here,” he parries, and you know for a fact he’s smirking. “And I told you it wasn’t over.”
“Please.” You try your absolute hardest to tighten your weak hold. “We don’t have time to fight.”
“Fight about what?”
“Make me come, baby,” you plead with your whole chest, not wanting to play a single game anymore. “I’ll do anything, just—”
A knuckle grazes your clit, and your moan isn’t stifled by a hand this time.
Oh shit that had to be too loud—
A large palm covers your mouth before two fingers slip between your folds, and your second scream is thoroughly muffled.
“You’re lucky I fucking love when you come,” Yoongi rasps in your ear, his fingers hitting spots that light the room with stars. “That’s what’s unfair.”
Your eyes squeeze shut while you thrust against his digits, feeling the end fast approaching and outright yelling into his warm hand.
“Better hurry, doll.” His breath comes out in a slow laugh. “Unless you wanna get caught. Is that what you want?”
You shake your head, knowing that deep down, for some reason, the very idea makes your cunt throb even harder.
“No?”
Another shake.
“Then fucking come.”
His fingers lodge into your folds, spreading you open and causing your walls to flutter like mad.
And your body obeys at once, head thrown back and limbs locking, plaster and Yoongi’s fingers your only purchase from sinking to the ground. Swells of pleasure almost taken from you gush onto his digits, and his hum teeters on a growl against your cheek.
“So perfect.”
The dark continues to heighten every sense you have, and you turn your head to capture his lips before gasping for air.
Your pulses are still deep when he removes his fingers. And you already miss them as you try to straighten, legs wobbly and hands steadying on his arms.
His teasing laugh makes you pout. “You good?”
“Mmhmm.”
“Then let’s go.”
You feel him move away from you, and you decide then and there that you want more.
A lot more.
Panicked, yank him away from the door, reaching for his face and pulling him onto your lips. Bold. Risky. So unlike you.
But the dark heightens your courage as much as your senses. And something about him only focusing on you makes you want him more than ever.
Yoongi’s just as rushed this time. A myriad of flavors smears across your mouth, and his hot breaths sink wonderfully into your skin. Seconds, minutes, years. It doesn’t matter how much time you have now.
This tiny stretch of time has been a miracle, and you wanna stretch it out as long as you possibly can.
When he finally pulls away, he tells you he didn’t think you had this in you. When you admit that you just really missed him, he repeats the sentiment right back.
And when you tell him you have a bit more time left, he suggests that you all swing by another prize booth.
“What, you wanna win me something, too?”
“Nah.” He huffs a laugh, and his next sentence earns him a playful shove,
“I just wanna watch you lose.”

Late night collisions
Tumblr media
Summary: You and George had many things in common, one of them being your love for sleeping in oversized t-shirts. Little did you know how much Lockwood and Lucy would speculate.
AN: This is for @lockmad - for helping me with inspiration <3
Warnings: fluff, teasing, kissing/making out, George isn't good at Uno,
Word count: 1.6k
Pairings: George Karim x fem!Reader
You and George had become pretty close since you moved into 35 Portland Row six months ago, but you'd known each other longer than that, back to when George used to work for Fittes and you worked for another small agency. The two of you shared a few different habits, you were both avid researchers, you both got fed up of Lockwood and Lucy's obliviousness to each other, but you both had a habit of sleeping in oversized t-shirts. The two of you had a tendency to find each other in the middle of the night, either bumping into each other in the hall or finding the other in the library, your tired states usually leading to pointless conversations or falling asleep on each other on the couch.
It's funny really, you can remember the day, or should you say night, like it was yesterday. The two of you had bumped into each other during the early hours of the morning to go to the bathroom, leaving you slightly flustered when you saw one another with similar sized t-shirts.
"Oh, sorry!" You say as you bump into George, not seeing him as you were rubbing your tired eyes "No, no, you're okay" George replies softly, his hands bracing your shoulders to keep you steady. You notice that his curly hair is sticking out in every directions - more than usual, and he wasn't wearing his glasses, which made you smile when you realised how cute he looked, all sleepy and disheveled. "What?" George teased, still being able to see your smile, although a little blurry "It's nothing, your hair is just a but unruly tonight, I'm not used to it is all" "Oh come off it y/n, you've seen me half asleep more times than I can count" George said softly, inching towards you so he could see you better without his glasses. He lightly brushed a strand of your hair out the side of your face, your breath hitched as his fingertips made contact with your skin "You should get some sleep, it's late" and before you knew it, he waddled off to the bathroom and left you alone in the dark.
On one of those many late nights, you found George in the library working away on old cases, his cheeks burning red when he saw your sleepy state "Hey Georgie, can't sleep?" you ask as you sip the glass of water in your hand "yeah, you know what it's like, I get carried away" he says as you sit down in the chair next to him, curling your legs to the side of your body on the chair. You sat with George for a little while reading a book to keep him company, before he turned around to look at you "Hey y/n, what do you make of this. There was an old country house in Oxford that had all but been abandoned when a party was disrupted by a large haunting. The house was build on the outskirts of an old graveyard that had been moved, but a few of the party members died from the hauntings" you sat up as he explained and listened to the case "well, it sounds an awful like they didn't move all the bodies from the ground before building the house, and so the Visitors got angry from the large presence of the living. Does it say what Types they were?" "No, but from the descriptions it has to be Type Twos. I would suspect Changers and Wraiths, from how brutal the outcome was and how little people survived."
The two of you ended up chatting into the early hours, though neither of you would admit how sleep deprived or delirious you were starting to get. You had suggested to George that you should play a game, to take your mind of thinking about the case he had told you about, so he searched the bookshelves until he came across a red pack of cards - Uno. The two of you sat on the floor to play, you daren't tell George how you had too much practice from playing it while growing up, slowly enraging him as you kept winning round after round. "Oh come on now y/n, you've got to be cheating" He complained, which only made you giggle and bring your hand to your chest in playful hurt "I don't know how you dare! You're just a sore loser George" but after a few more rounds he still hadn't won once, so instinctly he leaned over to you and tried to take a peak at your cards "George! I'm not cheating!" you cry, pushing him back while keeping the cards close to your chest "I don't believe you, I always win against Lockwood" he retaliated, which made you laugh "that's because Lockwood is awful at card ga-" you began to say but George leapt for your cards, causing you to jump up onto to your feet away from his reach.
"You're not getting my cards George" you manage to muster, you cheeks growing red from laughter as he jumps up to meet you "I just want to know how you keep winning! Where are you putting all your cards?" "I don't have them George, that's the point!" Somehow you hadn't quite noticed how the two of your had become so close, practically within arms reach of one another. You felt his breath on your face, the heat tingling your cheeks. George looked at you, a fiery intensity in his eyes you hadn't seen before, even when he was genuinely mad at you, but this was different. Before you could think, his lips were on yours, his arms pulling you closer to him, only breathing for air when your bodies collided. Without realising, you had dropped the once precious cards from your grasp and threw your arms around his neck, your fingers finding their way to George's hair to ground you in the moment.
What neither of the two of you noticed, was from all the arguing and commotion you made, Lockwood had woken and come down to see what was wrong. When he saw the two of you tangled together, he slowly backed out of the library and headed back upstairs, simply chuckling to himself "it took them long enough".
A few days past since your evening with George, and as far as you were aware no-one else knew it happened, especially not Lockwood as he daren't bring it up in conversation. It was laundry day, you couldn't put off doing the washing any longer, you were quite literally out of all your clothes.
After you took a shower, you sneaked into George's room in your towel. Luckily he wasn't there, you couldn't face him seeing you like this, so you hurried over to his dresser and pulled out one of his oversized t-shirts, certain he wouldn't mind you borrowing one. After changing and drying your hair the best you could, you collected your dirty laundry into a basket and waddled downstairs.
It was quite late in the morning, imagining all your housemates were either out or in the library, so you were surprised you when you saw all three of them in the kitchen discussing a case over eggs and bacon. "Morning y/n. So as I was saying George..." Lockwood says without looking in your direction, but when all he hears is a soft giggle coming from Lucy next to him, his eyes shoot up to meet you. He didn't quite twig what was wrong at first, until he saw George pink in the face and jaw literally dropped "morning all... any spare breakfast?" you manage to ask, your face equally as red as George's. "You haven't been sneaking into George's room in the middle of the night again, have you y/n?" Lucy asked through giggles, gesturing to your outfit which consisted of purely George's t-shirt "I-, I, no I was just borrowing it-" "I don't know what you're getting at Lucy, nothing happened-" George quickly adds, almost stuttering on his words "oh yeah, because it's definitely just laundry day" Lucy winks to you, making your cheeks grow even redder.
"Now now children, no need to shame George and y/n for their commotion the other night" Lockwood finally says with a cheeky grin, which makes everyone whip their heads to look at him "Lockwood!" all three of you cry in a mixture of disgust and surprise. "Lockwood, I swear if you don't shut up" George grumbles, which just makes both Lockwood and Lucy laugh "Oh come on Georgie, me and Luce have been calling it for weeks!" he says, standing up and downing the rest of his tea in one "Alright Luce, where's your purse, you owe me a tenner" and with that the two of them finally dragged themselves out of the kitchen, leaving you alone with George.
After quickly running down the basement and putting your clothes into the washer, you make your way back up to the kitchen, where George is distracting himself making you breakfast. "Sorry about stealing your shirt, I didn't think you'd mind" you say softly as you make yourself a tea, but George just gives you a cheeky smile in return, trying to hide his boyish excitement "It's fine, really. It suits you actually, I just didn't think I'd be seeing you wear one so soon" he teases and you push him away playfully "Shut up George, don't start thinking it'll happen again soon". After serving up your breakfast he pulls you over to the table, he hand softly cupping your cheek as you rest against the table "I hope that wasn't a promise y/n" he smiles before pulling you into a passionate kiss.

Playing House
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Summary: Jake tries to get back with you after leaving you due to his lack of commitment. But when he finally comes back and tries to start again with his new commitment. He's found that someone's beat him to it.
Warnings: angst, one that got away trope, Jake being a huge dick, the canon is never mentioned at all.
Author’s Snip: I've tried to write this three seprite times and I was going to get this out damnit. I feel like this might be shit but I don't even care. Just eat your angst and go.
Notes: I'm tired so this is not proof read, I'll do it some other time. Also, Jake is a stand alone in this so there's no mention of Steven or Marc here. There is no mention of the canon in the show so interpret that how you please.
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
A year and a half was the mark that Jake managed to make. That doesn't sound like much, and maybe that's what made it sound so sad. It was a wonderful year and a half. You were really something. Jake couldn't deny that no matter how hard he tried. To say that you didn't mean something to him was like saying that the sun doesn't mean anything to the earth.
Jake wasn't trying to be cruel to you. If he could he'd take back everything he did and said that night. Every word of it. After all, you had only wanted to take the next reasonable step in your relationship.
______________________________
"I can't do this." he said, almost in an apathetic tone that implied that this was a normal sentence.
You look shattered upon hearing those words, and the broken little "What?" that came out of you was almost inaudible. Something that haunts him to this day.
"I can't do this. This whole idea that you have." Jake responded plainly. "Listen, I'm sorry but I don't do the whole house thing." he remarked.
"What is that supposed to mean?" you ask with your voice starting to sound upset. He doesn't know how he managed to keep himself together and so straight faced when you were clearly starting to tear up. "I don't play house. I don't settle." he said.
"So... what?" you croak as your throat starts to prepare for sobbing as you try to keep yourself together. And Jake just shrugs.
How could he? How dare he? You admit that you would like to try and save up to move into a nice little place with him and live together, to plant the seeds for a future with him, and he just shrugged at you as he shot it down. Like it was nothing.
"Well, what if I want this What if you just gave living together a try. We can rent a little apartment and see how it feels. Please." you pleaded. You were still trying not keep a brave face but your voice was getting sad and broken. And like some idiot he shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I just don't do that." he said. He didn't sound that sorry, he can see that now.
You stood there for a moment till you just nodded, accepting what he said, swallowing a sob like a bitter pill that you had no choice but to take. That's when you walked away.
Jake did feel bad but he thought that maybe you would come around and take a step back and maybe think that he wasn't ready for that.
______________________________
Of course, you didn't. Jake really doesn't know what the hell he was thinking when he thought that you would just cry it out and come back. It was no surprise that you didn't call him back after that and he figured that you weren't coming back.
That's when he actually started to hurt him. It had been a few months and he knew just how much he fucked up so he just left it. He thought that trying to talk would hurt more so he just settled with the pain of what he did instead of settling with what should have been you.
He honestly doesn't know what he was thinking when he decided that years after all that to just try and come back. Like a bouquet and "I'm sorry. Let's try this again." with puppy dog eyes would fix a serious blow like that.
______________________________
When he went to what he remembered being your place to which there was someone else living there should have been his first sign. The old lady was actually someone who knew you before hand, somehow, something about some mail going to the old address or something, and was kind enough to tell him where you lived now.
The new address leading to a nice little house should have been his second and final sign but he was blinded by the hope that he somehow managed to make up in his head.
When the door opened to you after he knocked Jake almost breathed a sigh of relief but the look on your face made him keep it in.You almost had this surprised and mortified look on your face. Which was valid, you didn't tell him where you lived after moving and he just managed to find you. His best guess as to why you did tell him to leave was because you knew that he was no harm. But you still didn't look too pleased to see him.
Jake realized that he didn't actually have anything planned to say. He had the drive to your old place and your new home to think of something to give to you as to explain everything and try to win you back. Unlike him on the night he broke your hope in settling down with him, he had nothing to say.
"I..." he managed to speak out before losing his track of thought again.
He wouldn't be able to finish that sentence since a voice from inside the house was heard. "Honey? Is something wrong?" a man's voice calls out. "Yeah just..." you turn around and call back before looking back at Jake.
He knew that this was an answer to anything he could come up with but he couldn't even fully process it fully before you called out to the voice inside the house again. "It's just someone asking for directions." you say before just closing the door of him.
______________________________
It serves him well, he supposes.
That he'd only try suggest that you come back to him only for you to shoot him down in a similar fashion.
You'd manage to find someone else who was willing to 'play house' with you.

Could you do headcannons for a Bob x Ghost!Reader? I'd think it would be a pretty interesting concept ^^
ILYSM FOR REQUESTING THIS OMG!!! HERE U GO <3333
Content: Mention of death, reader’s appearance or death is not descripted, gn reader, long ass headcanons, proofread
Bob Velseb x Ghost Reader
You guys met when he was running from the cops and hid in an abandoned house
He stayed there for a bit and found out something was inhabiting the place
He wasn’t scared, he actively tried to seek you out while you were shutting doors and opening cupboards, probably thinking you were just a random kid messing with him
Until he got locked in a room. He swears he didn’t see anybody lock or close that door, he was standing right there!
Then he decided to leave by breaking the window.
He’s shook, not sure if he can believe what he saw, but curiosity takes over and one night he decides to go back and confirm if what he saw was real or not.
It was real all right.
You scare him off again by throwing objects around, you wanted him to get out. And yeah, he listened
But again a few days later he found himself back at this seemingly haunted house. It was like a magnet was pulling him back everytime!
Breaking in, again, you tried to get him to leave. And this time you didn’t hold back
You knocked over wardrobes, made the beds levitate, you even broke all the glasses!
Hell, you even decided to present yourself to him. You locked him in the bathroom and was looming over his shoulder in the mirror, right over his shoulder, staring into his soul through the mirror. But when he saw you, your true form, he couldn’t stop looking.
He looked behind him. But nothing except the cold wall was there. Looking back to the mirror, you were gone.
He was fascinated, to say the very least.
You ended up shattering the mirror, breaking it into a million pieces.
He left, again, but you weren’t sure if he were coming back or not.
And yeah, he did.
This time with ghost hunting equipment. He came with a spirit box, an EMF reader, and probably more.
First he wandered around trying to use the spirit box to communicate with you. Asking things like “Are you here?” Or “Can you give me a sign?”
And yes, you did give him a sign. You broke the mirror in your old bedroom.
It was then he started asking questions. “Is this your room?” “When did you die?” “What’s your name?”
You honestly gave up on trying to get him to leave, you finally gave in and spoke to him, answering his questions.
You opened up to him about how you died and other questions he asked. After a couple hours he said goodbye and left, promising to be back again.
He kept that promise, alright.
He came back almost everyday just to talk to you, sometimes he even stayed the night in your old bed.
He really wanted you to show yourself again. He bought you another mirror and replaced it with your broken one, begging you to show yourself just at least once more.
You refused, you couldn’t just yet, but when he begged and said he’d do anything, you thought on that just a little bit.
And you asked him to clean your house, so you could feeling like you were reliving your old life.
And it took a while, it did, but he eventually got around to it.
You didn’t actually expect him to do that - you were shocked.
But keeping your promise, you decided to show yourself one more time. Right behind him, just like the first time he saw you.
And my, was he stunned. He just couldn’t take his eyes off your form, you looked perfect. You were perfect.
And so, he decided to start living in your house.
Which caught you off guard, but you didn’t mind; it was so lonely without him.
But as time grew, and it was almost like you were a live person again, he confessed his love to you.
He didn’t see you as just a ghost, he saw you as a person. A person he fell in love with, even if you were dead.
You had to admit, things wouldn’t be the same with him around. So you accepted.
And I guess you two started dating. Sure, you two could admit you were a strange couple, but at least you two could be together forever.
Okay, so, let's say at this point, you can't really 'speak' but you can whisper, like you might have to strain to hear your own voice. You can also become visible but mostly just transparent, and only for limited periods of time
Now, dates aren’t really usual since you never really leave the house, but if you can, then he’ll try to spend time with you in the woods. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, and it’s dark
And if you prefer to stay at home, or can’t leave, he’ll turn on a movie or something.
You shouldn’t be bothered by his cannibalistic tendencies, you can’t really smell the rotting meat in the house, your dead anyway. You can’t eat anymore either so it really doesn’t matter.
He loves feeling the cold presence of you on his back while he’s sleeping, it lets him know that your there. You probably don’t sleep, as a ghost, but you don’t mind holding him all night.
He loves the fact that he doesn’t have to be so protective over you. Your dead, so no harm could possibly ever happen to you.
He loves to hear about your life when you were alive, it gives him inspiration and lets him learn more about you
He thinks it would be cool to get a dog, they can sense ghosts so he could train it to tell him where you were if he needed to find you, since he can’t actually see you all the time.
He cooks you food even though he knows you can’t eat it, he just wants to do something nice for you
He even buys you clothes as well
Overall he takes comfort in the fact that he doesn’t have to worry about your needs that much, he loves having a ghost s/o
Hope you liked!!

Post War - drarry fic recs
Kiss the Joy (Until the Sun Rise) by ICMezzo(37k)
The Room of Requirement was severely damaged in the war, but not so much that it could not provide for one lost student and another young hero—especially when they needed each other most of all.
Like Lightning at Your Fingertips by potterwatch(43k)
The problem with living with another insomniac is, eventually, they find out you’re one, too. When Harry and Draco return for their eighth year, they think they’ll see very little of each other. Then McGonagall assigns them to room together. And the castle starts breaking. And there’s that thing with Potter’s magic.
Nice Things by aideomai(22k)
The first thing that happened was Theodore Nott came back from France.
Hurricane by phrynne(121k)
Eleven years after the War, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are both still haunted, working themselves to death on the job. But nothing is killing them more than seven years denying their mutual, unrelenting and painful attraction.
Crimson Neon by xanthippe74(20k)
Winter, 1999. Harry thought going to New York would help him get his head on straight, but all he has to show for it are sore feet and a fridge full of takeaway containers. And now he’s homesick on top of everything else. It doesn’t help that his mysterious neighbour in 2C keeps cooking dishes that remind Harry of home and all the people he lost or left behind.
Under the weather by P_pato_roldnart, shushu_yaoi_lj(14k)
Harry Potter arrives on a Friday afternoon.
The sun is shining outside, and the Hogwarts grounds are covered in purple and white crocuses; the first yellow daffodils peeking timidly from behind the trees.
Spring is beautiful this year, Draco thinks, and yet, there’s a dark grey cloud, rumbling ominously and leaving a big puddle right in the middle of the staffroom.
The cloud appears to be right above Harry Potter’s head.
As the World Moves On by InTheShadows(8k)
When Draco falls into a coma after the Battle of Hogwarts, he is admitted to St Mungo's and forgotten. He has no cards, no flowers, no visitors, nothing. Nothing, that is, until Harry stumbles across his room one day. (And then keeps coming back.)
Nyctophilia by prolonged_autumn(107k)
Everyone's back for 8th year, and Harry and his friends seem determined to spend their last year in school running around at night, hyped up on coffee and alcohol and Honeydukes candy, doing all the childish things they didn't have the chance to do before. Draco watches as he's always watched: from afar, quiet and bitter and hopelessly in love. That is, until Pansy decides she's had quite enough of it.
The Sleeping Beauty Curse by who_la_hoop(152k)
When Draco Malfoy falls into a cursed sleep and can only be woken – at least, according to the Daily Prophet, that impeccable source of truth – by ‘true love’s kiss’, Harry Potter knows there’s no way on earth he’s the answer to this particular riddle. Is he . . .?
the in-betweens by derekmaliknurse(42k)
A tale of inter-house unity, Dirty Dancing, the various charms of certain Gryffindors and the Slytherins who fall for them, and Celestina Warbeck, in which Harry James Potter shares a room with one Draco Malfoy and despite seven years of past seething hatred, has the time of his life.
when evil blooms by thedoomofvalyria(83k)
Harry wanted a normal 8th year, but the mysterious and beautiful flowers growing around the castle have other ideas. They're up to something. And so is Draco Malfoy.
The July Tree by oknowkiss(51k)
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail… nor well-meaning friends, nor questionable communication skills, nor seven years of hating each other’s guts can keep Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy from falling in love.
OR: It’s Eighth Year, and Harry Potter has detention. What else is new? Well, since you asked: Greenhouse Four and the Tree of Life, for a start, and then there’s the new shared Eighth Year common room, and Harry’s sexuality, and these pesky dreams he keeps having about a blond man pushing him into things…

How would Romanced!Companions react to a Synth version of Sole's spouse coming back?
Cait: “You’re not considering replacing me with a robot, are ya?” Cait asked as if it was an obvious joke. Sole would clasp her shoulder and reassure her that no one could ever take her place. But instead, Sole looked at their feet in shame. “He’s/She’s a synth, for fuck’s sake! I’m a real person!” She shoved Sole. Tears stung her eyes. Cait could hardly speak when she added, “I love you, Sole. This thing does not.”
Curie: “I understand the plight of synths as well as any of us. But Sole... this person is not Nate/Nora. Surely they know this?” Curie listened patiently as Sole explained how their spouse’s synth had memories of their marriage and Shaun. Hell, they even remembered when the bombs fell. “If you must help them navigate these feelings, I support you, my love. I just need reassurance that throughout this journey you remember our own special bond.”
Danse: “That is... disturbing.” Danse understood exactly what it was like to have memories that weren’t your own. A voice sounding like someone else. A body that was created to house a different soul. His veins iced with terror when he thought of what memories Nate/Nora held of Sole. And if that changed his relationship with them. “What are you going to do?” The question made Danse’s belly heavy as lead. He almost didn’t want to know their answer, but ultimately it was Sole’s choice.
Deacon: Deacon sometimes wondered what he’d do if another synth of Barbara came back. He knew she wouldn’t be the original, but the Institute would’ve probably loaded her brain with memories of their marriage and lazy days on the farm and dreams of starting a family. Maybe even darker ones, such as her murder. He truly felt for what Nate’s/Nora’s synth was enduring. Hell, he could only imagine what was going through Sole’s own head. The spy just had one question, and he asked it as he stroked the back of Sole’s neck with a tender touch. “Will you choose me?” Deacon didn’t have it in him to admit to Sole that he’d choose them over Barbara every time. Even the real Barbara. He was afraid Sole would think he was lying.
Hancock: “Does he/she have everything he/she needs?” Hancock knew how dangerous the Commonwealth was for a newborn synth. Their occasional memory lapses and self-doubt made for unsavory scams and itchy trigger fingers. He would worry about any jealousy he harbored after he made sure Nate/Nora and Sole were safe. “Tell them to come to Goodneighbor. Hell, I’ll even bring them home myself.” Sole tried to search Hancock’s eyes for any lingering feelings, but the ghoul stayed stoic and calm. “I know we’re thick as thieves, Sunshine. I ain’t about to let anyone fuck with what we got.”
MacCready: MacCready used to have nightmares about Lucy when he and Sole first got together. He dreamt that she found them asleep in bed; his muscled arm slung over Sole’s body like a security blanket. Even after he woke up, MacCready could still hear Lucy’s soft crying in the birds chirping outside his window or water running as Sole drew a bath. Moving on from Lucy sometimes felt like betrayal. But now Sole didn’t have to move on from Nate/Nora, and he wasn’t sure where that left him. “I’m, um, happy for you. But, I mean...” MacCready anxiously scratched the back of his neck. “Where does that leave us, Sole? Are you gonna leave me for a synth?” Because the truth was, MacCready would never leave Sole for Lucy’s ghost no matter how badly she haunted him.
Preston: “The Institute will really stop at nothing to get you back.” Preston was sure this was the boogeymen’s last attempt at stealing Sole from the Minutemen. Yet underneath his initial anger, there was worry. He wasn’t sure if Sole still loved their spouse enough to leave him for their imitation. “Promise me you won’t fall for it, babe. This has to be a trap.”
Piper: “You know they’re not really your spouse, right?” Piper was terrified at the prospect of Sole’s husband/wife returning. She had no idea if Sole would leave her for them. And if Sole did, Piper worried it meant she’d been a placeholder all along. “They’ll walk and talk like Nate/Nora, but it isn’t them. I’m really me, Blue. Just... remember that when you’re with them.”
Nick: Nick was extremely sensitive to Sole’s feelings when Nate/Nora returned, albeit as a synth. Sole had already been through so much, and he was worried this would rekindle their grief. “Anything you need, just let me know.” He knew Sole wouldn’t leave him. His partner just needed space and understanding.
X6-88: X6 was furious at Father for bringing back Sole’s spouse. Everyone in the Institute knew how close he had gotten to Sole, and he worried their relationship would be thrown away to this... lesser synth. “Be wise about this, Sole. They aren’t who they think they are. That’s the entire point of rogue synths.”
