King Magnifico Backstory : Part One
Ok! Here goes part one for my ideas for Magnifico’s backstory with the DisneyVerse! I based it on the fairytale “The Carnation/ The Pink” as recorded by the Brothers Grimm, the tale of a young man who’s every wish comes true…
Link to the fairytale I’ve based this on here
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, a lonely, childless queen wished upon a star, and the star answered. The Fairy of the star said that for the Queen’s great kindness and pure heart, the child would be blessed with beauty, charm and that he would have the power to grant the wishes of his people, in order to bless the kingdom he would one day inherit.
(This is me justifying that “Mirrors love my face/got these genes from outer space” line xD)
Tumblr media
The queen was overjoyed with her son, and marveled at the magic he already displayed. She intended to keep his gift secret from the kingdom until he was older, in order to protect him, but it was too late. Word of his gift had leaked out, and one day the child was kidnapped.
He grew up under the watchful eye of his “parents”, granting them whatever they desired, wish after wish, day after day. Gowns and jewels, a manor house on the kingdom’s border, a fleet of fine hunting hounds to tear up the countryside. A covering of protection from any who might try and discover their whereabouts.
The child gave it all to them, for he felt the power of Love inside him when he used the gift that was meant to bless, and thought the love came from them.
They told him to never be selfish and wish for himself, though this was only to keep him from one day wishing in anyway that might undermine them. They lived in luxury and he in loneliness, for they of course allowed none to get to close to their prize lest another steal their good fortune.
Tumblr media
Finally though, when the boy had become a youth, his loneliness became too great, and he wished deep in his heart for companionship. And the wish was granted. A beautiful young woman stood before him, shocked to be suddenly in a strange place before a strange man. But the youth was so comely, and spoke to her kindly and with assurances she would be safe with him, that soon she lost her fear. She still wished to return home, but the youth persuaded her to remain with him a while longer.
(He’s not evil yet obviously, but he’s always been a smooth guy and now he’s got a taste of having something he wants he’s loath to let it go. Which is understandable but can and will of course turn darker…)
For a time the youth hide the girl within the hallow of the pink rose bush in the center of the garden, and their loved bloomed with the roses they both found sanctuary in.
Tumblr media
But eventually they were discovered by the youth’s “Father”. The boy confessed he had wished for a companion, and the man feigned acceptance. He asked the girl her name and origin, and she told him she was called Amaya, and that she hailed from the Kingdom of Córdoba. Upon further questioning, the man realized his stolen ‘son’s wish had pulled a woman to him from a completely different world.
Realizing the youth’s power would soon grow out of any control they could exact over him, the man and his wife determined to cut their losses and finally do away with him, lest their treachery be uncovered. Unbeknownst to them, the youth had overheard their plot, and began to plot his vengeance against the people he had believed to have been his parents.
Meanwhile, the leacherous man had taken a fancy to the girl, Amaya. He told her that if she aided him in getting rid of the youth he would aide her in returning back to her own world. Amaya had no interest in either the foul man nor in betraying the youth she had come to love, but she knew if she did not do as the man asked both she and her lover would be killed. So she took the heart of one of the man’s beloved hounds and brought it to him, claiming it to be the heart of the youth.
She rejected the man’s advances though, refusing him vehemently and reminding him their bargain was for him to help her to return home. Pretending to accept her rejection, the man waited until night to steal into her rooms within the manor, with a dagger drawn to plunge into the sleeping girl.
But he was met with the livid face of his erstwhile ‘son’ instead.
Tumblr media
“So, ‘Father’, at last you show your true face. Your heart is a coal of envy, your wishes are cruel and selfish, you would take and kill with no more thought then your beloved hunting dogs do. So I wish that your outward self might reflect the beast within you!”
And with those words, the man’s bones shook and snapped, his hair darkened and spread, and soon enough a great beast spawns tearing around the manner, fire pouring from its insides as it burned all the ill gotten gains in the manor, and itself along with it.
Tumblr media
The youth attempted to return to his true mother, but tragedy has struck while he grew up ignorant of his heritage. The King, furious that the son he had waited so long for had been stolen, blamed the Queen for the tragedy, and locked her within a doorless tower. A bird came twice a day to bring her food, but her heart was broken, and she eventually wasted away. The people, who had loved the kind queen, rose up against the cruel king, and the kingdom was left broken and destroyed.
The youth had no wish to stay in this place, full of the memories of all the good that had been destroyed by two greedy thieves. The youth, a man now, innocence scorched from him, kept a part of the banner that once hung in the grand hall to remind himself the folly of granting the wishes of the undeserving
He was ready however to grant the wish of the one who had not betrayed him, his beloved Amaya. Her wish brought them a ship that would carry them across the waves of sea and space, and together they sailed off into another world…

Story Prompt 62
There lurked a villain, cunning and shrouded in darkness as he ruled his domain with an iron fist. But little did he know, a plan brewed in the mind of one who sought to outwit him.
The protagonist, a figure of mystery themselves, had ventured into the villain's realm with a daring resolve. Their aim: to infiltrate the villain's inner circle, to become his confidant, his right hand. It was a dangerous game, one where the line between ally and adversary blurred with each passing moment.
As days turned into weeks, the protagonist gained the villain's trust, weaving their way into the intricate web of deceit that surrounded him. Yet, amidst the shadows and deception, an unexpected twist emerged.
The villain, drawn to the protagonist's charm and cunning, began to make advances. His words dripped with honeyed promises, tempting the protagonist with power and riches beyond imagination. But with each sweet whisper, the protagonist felt the weight of their conscience grow heavier.
Caught between the allure of darkness and the flicker of their own morality, the protagonist faced a choice. Would they succumb to the seductive whispers of the villain, embracing the path of darkness laid before them? Or would they steel their resolve, confronting the villain and putting an end to his reign of terror once and for all?
In the dimly lit chamber where the villain held court, the protagonist stood face to face with their nemesis. The air crackled with tension as the two locked eyes, each silently daring the other to make the first move.
"You've played your part well," the villain remarked, his voice smooth as silk. "But now, it's time to choose. Will you stand by my side, or will you fall at my feet?"
The protagonist hesitated, torn between duty and desire. But in the end, they knew what had to be done.

An Interview With Doctor Hypnos
“So, tell me, Doctor, how does it feel to be one of the most powerful supervillains in the world?” The woman giving the interview enquired. “I must admit, it is quite admirable that you managed to conquer an entire city, starting with its superheroes, in just a matter of weeks.”
“Conquer? Conquer is a strong word,” Doctor Hypnos murmured, observing the journalist from behind his mask. “And it’s one I don’t entirely agree with. I much prefer the term ‘subjugate’. A conquest implies the use of brutal forces, whereas I prefer to use more subtle, persuasive methods of taking control.”
“Of course, you have this entire modus operandi in which you use hypnosis to control and expand your slave army.” The journalist continued. “Can you tell me a little bit about how you came to adopt this method?” “It all started a few months ago, when I worked at a dentist’s clinic,” Doctor Hypnos replied. “My profession expanded beyond oral surgery and general dentistry, however. I am also highly skilled in the field of administering local and general anaesthetics.”
He reminisced on the days of old as he continued. “One day, while I was preparing one of my patients to have his wisdom teeth removed, he told me as the anaesthetic knocked him out that I have beautiful eyes. Something about that…stirred something inside me, so to speak.” “Interesting…” the journalist murmured, writing in her notebook. “But I’m curious, Doctor, if that’s what made you choose the path of hypnosis, why do you hide your identity behind a plague doctor’s mask and a dark cloak?”
“This mask is specially made and if I were to fill a room with sleeping gas, I could remain completely conscious while my patients passed out,” Hypnos replied. “I understand the reasoning, Doctor, but that doesn’t exactly answer my question,” she replied. “If it’s not too much to ask, would you be so kind as to remove your mask just for a moment?”
“I’m afraid I cannot do that,” Doctor Hypnos replied. “Besides, you can see my eyes already.” The lenses of his mask began swirling with psychedelic spirals. “Look deep into my eyes…” The journalist was entranced in an instant. “That’s right, my dear, look deep into my eyes…” the villain purred. “Now, listen carefully. I want to ask you a few questions now and you will answer them all truthfully, isn’t that right?”
“Yes, Doctor Hypnos,” the mesmerised journalist replied, the spirals reflected in her eyes. “This interview, it was all a ploy to trick me into revealing my identity, was it not?” “Yes, Doctor Hypnos.” The villain chuckled softly. “I thought as much. Just what were you going to do once you’d discovered it? Turn me in to the authorities?” “Yes, Doctor Hypnos, that was my intent.”
“I see…” Hypnos murmured. “Well, you’re not going to do that now, are you? You’re going to keep this entire interview top secret and never reveal it to anyone. Even if you do somehow awaken from this spell, all memories of this interview will be complete erased from your memory. Do you understand, my dear?” “Yes, Doctor Hypnos.” The journalist replied. “I listen and obey.”
Hypnos smirked behind his mask as he caressed her cheek. “Good girl…” he purred in his soft, velvety voice. “I’ll take those notes, if you don’t mind.” “I don’t mind, Doctor Hypnos.” The journalist replied, handing over her notebook, which the villain promptly rid of all the notes she’d made during the interview. “Now, you’ll go about your day as normal. But if anyone asks about our encounter, you will simply tell them you were busy at the office, understood?” “Yes, Doctor Hypnos.” “That’s precisely what you will believe as well. Don’t you fret about your alibi not holding up. My slaves have made sure that your employers and colleagues will back you up.” Hypnos smiled. “Run along now. We shall meet again, my new slave.” The journalist saluted and smiled, standing to attention. “Yes, Doctor Hypnos.” And with that, she left and carried on with her day as if nothing had happened.
As soon as he knew nobody else could see him, Doctor Hypnos removed his mask and wiped the sweat from his brow. “Phew…” he sighed, brushing a loose lock of light brown hair away from his sky-blue eyes. “That was a near thing.” He rested his dimpled chin on his hand and tapped one finger against his cheek, debating what to do next. He looked at his reflection in the lenses of his mask. A man who was only halfway through his thirties, one who had a 5 o’clock shadow, looked back at him.
“What have you got yourself into, Hiram?” He asked himself. Everything had happened so quickly. It seemed only yesterday that he was just an ordinary man like anyone else. Now here he was, practically with the world in his hands. It was overwhelming, it was astounding. It was fantastic. “Something wonderful.” He answered he own internal question. He smiled and donned his mask once again. Those citizens weren’t going to brainwash themselves.

Short Prompt #48
“How adorable!”
“Changeling, don’t touch that thing! It’s kind must have discarded it for a reason!”
Changeling made direct eye contact with Other Changeling as they scooped the chubby youngling from its pine needle bed. “Oh right, because they look soooo dangerous.”
“Bear cubs become bear adults. That cute cuddly baby will one day be a killer, and we do not want that thing around once it realizes that.”
Changeling cradled the youngeling in their arms, tapping it’s little nose with their forefinger and smiling as it cooed. “That’s exactly what I’m counting on.”
Other Changeling furrowed their brow in confusion, and Changeling patiently cupped their frowning face.
“The humans were scared enough to throw it away as a baby. Maybe it has a knack for causing terror. And I’d like to be on the giving end of that for a change.”

I made up a Backstory for Lady Bone Demon
I think we all knew I would get to this point some day.
Tumblr media
In Jttw, demons are typically animals brought back as demons, for example the Black Wind Demon, a bear. As a human skeleton demon, it’s incredibly likely that LBD was a human before she came back as a demon.
With this in mind, how did she die? LBD despises war, pain and famine of all kind, so I assume she might have died on a war front and, while I don’t think she retained memories from her life as a human, she still subconsciously hated wars.
Her body when she was the ivory lady was probably her own body, which she woke up inside of because it’s technically her corpse. The demon itself is within her skeleton, but that doesn’t mean her old body can’t be an accessory 🥳 fashion first, get ya look right
She just randomly woke up on one of those carts with all the corpses on it and was hella confused
So I feel like as a demon, she kind of became some Good Samaritan, since she looked human everyone was just cool with it. She was a seamstress and you can’t convince me otherwise. She would fashion clothes for the homeless and give fruits to travelers coming through whichever town she found herself in.
I mean she’s a little older than SWK at this point I feel like, she’s doing nice things to hold onto her sanity at the sight of the world crumbling and rebuilding itself again and again and again in a ruthless cycle 🧡
In JTTW, she was 110% just trying to poison Tripitaka and the gang so that she could eat him, but I need something to reinforce her hatred and lack of faith in the world so we’re switching that up a little.
She’s just doing her thing, giving fruits and vegetables from her garden (bc she has a damn garden. She’s giving garden.) to every traveler passing by and the monk and the boys happen to be one of them.
At this point she’s grateful to them because what they’re doing could help end a lot of conflicts and she doesn’t like conflicts 🥰
Wukong recognizes her as a demon and kind of misunderstands, thinking she’s trying to poison them.
So yeah he responds with violence.
Yeah so that was how she discovered she could take her mfing skin off when she had to wiggle out of it to save herself from being pummeled into bone cartilage
you best believe SWK got his ass kicked out of the group for beating up some random ass lady who he absolutely convinced was trying to kill them 💀
but dw they let him back in when they needed protection from the yellow something demon
They buried her damn corpse so she had to go underground to get back inside it, and then dig her way out of the grave.
And the night after all that is the first time she has ✨ the dream ✨
Where she sees herself destroying the world.
She brushes that off as just a nightmare yet, but then she starts having different bad dreams, of things like plagues and wars and you know… people dying
And damn, those start COMING TRUE??
She tries her best to change them, but nothings working??
Ooh, here’s an idea! What if she becomes and advisor and guides their emperor into being a better person?
HOO BOY DOES THAT MAKE THINGS WORSE
The emperor is the worst, why 💀 She becomes besties with the mayor, at the point the war chief, who the emperor just loves to overwork the hell out of
And she’s constantly getting precognitive dreams and changing them has proven to be impossible so that sucks
And I feel like she’s just on the last threads of her sanity when that one dream she had where she destroyed says “hey what if you just killed them all” in her sleep
And then BOOM
They’re in the middle of a crisis the very next day. She’s 100% prepared to ignore that dream because she’s still in the “the future is what you make it” phase but then as she’s talking to the emperor about handing the crisis, just imagine him doing the cruelest possible thing in that situation and that’s what he did bc i can’t think of anything
And that’s it, that is IT
This goofy mf is dead. His ass is grass.
And then she’s like “y’know what. I have tried to fix the world and these dreams have just been constantly telling me that it can’t be fixed. Let’s torch the earth, screw the environment”
But then Tripitaka and the boys come together to stop her 😒
So she peeps Macaque’s decaying corpse and decides he has some potential
SHE WAS WRONG
I assume in that box, her destiny talk was just her way of not losing her shit trying to get out
“Yup, this is all for destiny. I’ma get out of her one day, I’m a survivor, I’m not gon give up”
Every second spent being pissed at Macaque’s goofy ass
I imagine she was super nice to him fr, she was looking for FRIENDS but his trust issues really said “stop ✋🏽 You violated the law”
Presumably, her body rotted away when she was locked up because she was IN IT when she was first imprisoned, but when she was freed there was nothing but bones?? 🤨
And now she’s gotten free and
She is not very happy 🧡
because like Tripitaka said “I’m locking you up until you learn the error of your ways” because he saw that her intentions were good, but like
you know damn well he wasn’t actually gonna free her. There would have been better ways of changing her mind then locking her away and you know it 💀
what were you gonna do fr fr just show up every now and again to check on her and then leave like “Oop, nope, you haven’t learned your lesson looks like you need a little more time in your box, I’ll be back in fifty years, don’t go anywhere now teehee 🤭”
🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾

Are there any villain characters you wish had some redemption in SGE? If so who would they be? And which characters do you wish had more backstory explained in the books? I feel there are some villain back stories, and others, that needed more explanation
I think that this is my favourite question just because I can talk about one of my favourite characters.
I really wish that Rhian had some redemption, and I had really high expectations after he had that conversation with Sophie before he died.
So far as we know, he wanted to become king just so he could "rid the Woods from evil once and for all", so that everyone could live in peace. I'm not trying to say that his plans excuse the ways he treated Sophie and her friends after his reign, but I think that he had the right mindset in order to be king, and was truly good in the end. He just didn't perform his capabilities in the right way.
Then again, everyone is the villain in someone else's story.
I really wish Soman had given us a detailed backstory of the Arbed boys (Rhian, Japeth, Kei, and Aric).
I just find it so interesting about how their friendships, betrayals and loyalties fell into place when they all went to school together, especially how Rhian might've reacted towards Japeth and Aric being so close.
I really hope that Soman does give us a story one day though, because if it were a book, I would finish it in one sitting.
Ty for the question! <3

King Magnifico Backstory Part 2
(Sorry it took so long. The holiday rush caught up with me, and it hasn't ended yet, so this is probably gonna be a three parter, actually. But here's the link to Part 1 and some other meta that connects to the backstory!)
Tumblr media
The young man and his new bride sailed through time and space, through storms and starlight, out into the sea of a new world
Their ship crashed upon the shores of an island, above which shown a brilliant star, shining as if it were a good omen that here they could build a new home for themselves
And such a home they built. The magic of the young man seemed to swell even greater beneath the light of the star--(the star he did not know was the home of his own fairy godmother)-- and as he and Amaya built their new home, others began to flock to them, as if also drawn there by the star.
The young couple welcomed them, and the young man used his magic to aid them in their dreams in exchange for their help in creating a new kingdom, where he hoped to be able to use his powers to bless those worthy of it--for he still felt the swell of love and happiness amd wonder that came from helping to grant the wishes of others, so powerful it felt almost tangible at times.
They called the island Rosas, after the favorite flower of Amaya, and took the rose and the shining star above them as their symbols. And soon enough, with the help of their new friends and subjects and the magic that flowed around them, a beautiful kingdom rose up, with Amaya as Queen, and the young man the people began to call “Magnifico” as King
As the years passed, King Magnifico granted many wishes, and Rosas grew in prestige and beauty, people from the farthest flung places in the world began to flock to it, seeking its joy and bounty, and the chance to have their wishes granted
Tumblr media
Eventually the kingdom's population grew so great and so quickly that Magnifico--who had learned his lesson on granting wishes indiscriminately--decreed that only those who had lived in Rosas for a year and a day would have their wishes granted, and only then their greatest wish--so as to have time to prove their character and loyalty. Eventually this was raised to three years, then five, and finally all those who were born in Rosas and reached 18 were to have their wish granted, once per month at a grand ceremony.
To help aid and protect his new home, Magnifico studied magics both great and small, dark and light. He had books brought to him from all the lands that came to Rosas, and--though he did not know it at first-- the natural magic that drifted down from Rosas's guardian wishing star helped to aid him in becoming one of the greatest sorcerers in this new world, where magic was not as bountiful as the one he had been born in. One so great he managed to mostly stave off even old age for himself and his beloved queen, so as to keep their kingdom stable and secure
(And perhaps there was something of vanity within this. Having been starved of true affection for so long, Magnifico had became rather susceptible to flattery, and took perhaps more pride in his appearance then was healthy)
But for all his powers, and all his ability to grant the wishes of others, Magnifico found over the years that he was unable to grant the greatest wish shared between him and Amaya--to have a child of their own.
At last, one night, in desperation, remembering the vague story he had heard of his own birth, he wished upon the star above them
And the star answered
Tumblr media
They named the child Maroula, “Wished for Child, or, Star of the Sea”, as she was born with the mark of a star on her forehead
The couple adored their daughter, as did the whole kingdom. Neither Rosas nor its rulers ever knew greater happiness than in caring for the young princess and watching her grow
One day though, as young Maroula was playing in the rose garden of the palace, she heard a soft voice calling to her, though she could not see from where
“Maroula, Maroula, wished-for-child of a wished-for-child. Great will be your power, but great too will be the trials that come to you from it. Would you face them when you are young, or old?”
And the little princess thought, “Far better to get anything bad over with sooner than later. Then, once it's done,I can live happily ever after without worrying about it”
So she answered “When I'm young”
"So be it" said the voice, and faded away...
Tumblr media
And yet the years went by without any sign of these promised trials, until Maroula had grown into a beautiful young woman
Tumblr media
The princess has always been close with her father, and over the years he had taught her magic as well, and eventually she became his official apprentice, as well as his heir
Maroula studied hard, and became wonderfully proficient in all manner of spells and sorcery, helping her parents to bless their kingdom and aid in its prosperity
All seemed well, until the eve of the Princess's 18th birthday…
