If there was one thing John Dory never expected to happen in the entirety of his life it would be hooking up with a Troll half his size, who was at least twice as strong as he is. He's still reeling over the whole 'half his size thing,' he plans on coming to terms with the 'twice his strength' part later.
But regardless, he's walking through Pop Village holding hands with Smidge the day after, still working through the previous night and how fast he realized he was not going to be in control. One second he's in a bar and the next this short little Troll walks up to him and asks him if he'd like to spend the night. And then he's going through motions he's only went through with Country Trolls nearly twice his size.
"So, Smidge," John begins with cautiously as she pulls a chair out for him, she takes a seat across from him and gestures for her to go on, "Last night."
Smidge grins, leaning on her elbows just a bit, "Go on."
He taps the table nervously, unsure of how to broach the subject. He takes a deep breath, "Was that gonna be a one night stand, or will there be more?"
The yellow Troll freezes up a bit. That's a response she's never gotten before, she usually gets requests to not have it be that way again, or requests to never sleep together again. She shoulders the requests with ease, already used to the sting of rejection after being a bit too rough and taking charge. Instead of that she gets the retired leader of Brozone asking for more, "What?"
John laughed, a forced one, stiff and embarrassed, "Dumb question, sorry," He goes to push out his chair but Smidge is still staring at him, in shock for the most part. He can't just, leave her, in shock, that'd be rude, "I'll go get drinks."
It gives Smidge enough time to process John's request, John's request that wasn't anything like any previous result of her past hook ups which were taboo enough in Pop Village. She's flabbergasted really, asked for another night by the leader of Brozone, Pops biggest sensation that barely skimmed the edges of other genres. And she's heard rumors that John Dory is a bit of a slut, sleeps around and stays on the bottom, but she didn't think they'd be true, didn't think she'd get a chance to test them.
Her brows are furrowing as she tries to wrap her head around this reality she's landed herself in. On one hand she could be in a relationship with John, on the other hand she'd be in a relationship with John and that could be stressful.
He places down this overly sugary drink in front of her before she can come to a conclusion. She sits up a little bit straighter and takes a couple sips of the drink, over saturated with bright colors from local fruits and flavored with dragon fruit and blueberry.
John sits across from her and he's nearly shaking, he's afraid if nothing else. If this goes wrong he's dead, he wouldn't put it past Smidge to kill him, he wouldn't put it past himself to enjoy it either. She's strong, loud, dominant- what's not to love? He's staring her down and he doesn't realize it, "Is this a one night stand, or no?" John presses rather boldly.
"It could be a one night stand," Smidge answered with, "Nobodies asked me for a two night stand before."
"I was asking for a relationship," The words are tumbling out of his mouth before he can stop himself, "If you're single of course, wouldn't be shocked if you weren't- you're lovely and all that."
Smidge takes a contemplative sip of her drink, nearly crushing the bottle in her paws. She places down the bottle and brushes her hands down on each other, "You really think you can handle me in a full time relationship? No one else has stepped up and survived."
John gives this nervous sound, "Well, twenty years in the mountains gives you experience, I'll step up and survive."
Smidge gives a hum, "Alright, it's settled, we're officially a thing," Her voice gets quieter and quieter as she speaks, to avoid a swath of Pop Trolls getting excited over a new couple.
-/-/-/-
"Why is Smidge here?" Clay asked.
"Why is Viva here?" John mimicked back at him as he held Smidge a little closer, "She's my girlfriend."
Branch has the guts to give a small snort of laughter, "I think you being her boyfriend is more accurate."
"And what are you insinuation by that, Branch?" Smidge questioned.
"Nothing, nothing at all," He's smirking behind the mug of coffee being raised to his lips as he speaks.
And Smidge growls, a paw sifting through her hair calms her down swiftly.
"So Smidge and Viva are allowed but Creek isn't?" Floyd asked.
"You know exactly why that traitorous bitch isn't allowed in my bunker," Branch answered with.
"That's homophobia," Floyd muttered before he could stop the snide remark from escaping.
Branch ignores the comment, "Onto matters of importance, tour dates and if we're gonna do tours again."
Smidge barely bites back a hushed, "Oh my god!" and it makes John grin, an appreciative warmth flooding through his chest.
He's her boyfriend, and she's excited about the idea of future tours, he almost feels smug about it. Dating Pop Village's strongest Troll and she likes the music he wrote? He's winning and everyone is both jealous and afraid of them, especially when they're caught in the midst of hand to hand combat in the woods to blow off steam. A little bit of violence between lovers is important sometimes.
"We should hit up the Rock Trolls,"
"They'll kill us, Floyd,"

Solitaire - Chapter 1
overanalyzing/-interpreting and probably pointing out the obvious... just random notes and thoughts (ca. 2100 words in the form of bulletpoints)
counting got fucked up, imma fix it later, sorry if it's confusing to read -> should be fixed now
Solitaire, a fictional story with Tori (Victoria Spring) as homodiegetic narrator
Pride and Prejudice Quotes introduce us to the tone of Tori’s story
→ we know that Tori rather identifies with mr Darcy, so lets see what we find about Mr Darcy that might tell us something about Tori before we even get to know her:
Quote 1:
‘And your defect is a propensity to hate everybody.’
‘And yours’, he replied with a smile, ‘is willfully to misunderstand them.’
→ we learn about Mr Darcy that he allegedly tends to hate everybody and that he assumes willful misunderstanding one sides of the other party
(PART 1) Quote 2:
Elizabeth Bennet: Do you dance, Mr Darcy?
Mr Darcy: Not if I can help it.
→ without having a specific pace as instance in mind, it definitely sounds like something Tori would word for word answer to a question as the one given
• Getting to know Tori, before she ‘officially’ introduces herself to the reader (p.3f)
she perceives the majority of people in school as almost dead, including herself (p.3)
→ creating the picture of a crowd that allegedly shares a tragic similarity
2. she observes her steady numbness opposed to the socially anticipated numbness as reaction to the contrast of a phase of event (here: Christmas) and the eventless phase after (p.3)
→ differentiating herself from the crowd
3. Becky says that Tori looks like she wants to kill herself (p.3) to what Tori responds with ‘It’s funny because it’s true’ (p.4); Tori describes Becky’s reaction as her looking some more without really looking (p.4)
→ Tori feels perceived by Becky, but not seen
4. Tori says she and Becky are laughing about something that isn't funny (p.4)
→ Tori’s inauthenticity
5. Becky realizes Tori’s apathy and moves away while Tori leans into her own arms and falls half asleep (p.4)
→ Becky not taking action but physically bringing some distance between Tori and her, while Tori stabilizes herself by her own strength, escaping into a state of being half asleep but also halfway remaining in reality
6. Tori’s focus on appearance and her insecurity about her own
→ changes in peoples’ appearance like in hair and makeup that make herself feel ‘inadequate’ to which she ‘deflates’ into a chair a.k.a. makes herself smaller and hides away (p.4)
Tori’s ‘official’ introduction to the reader (p.4f)
‘My name is Victoria Spring’
→ she starts off with her full name
2.she makes up a lot of stuff in her head
→ focus on reality in form of her interior world
3. likes to see, and blog, and is going to die someday
→ listing the obvious fact of dying right beside other mundane activities emphasizes the priority of that topic in her daily life
4. Rebecca Ellen as only real friend and therefore probably best friend (p.4); Tori categorizes her as a ‘popular girls’ due to being recognized and therefore popular because she has long purple hair (p.4); Tori differentiates between being known by name and known personally (p.4)
→ Tori categorizing people even her friends
→ Tori challenges the significance of being popular and its lack of guaranteeing depth and significance
→ Question: Since when are people popular in school when they have recognizable purple hair? In my experience teenagers with colored hair are the one’s being likely to be bullied by the popular ones 🙄
5. Evelyn Foley categorizes as ‘alternative’ due to her appearance (p.5)
6. Tori questions if Becky actually likes Evelyn and she believes people only pretend to like each other (p. 5)
→ does Tori think that, because she only pretends/ feels like she pretends?;
→ is Tori worried that people only pretend to like her (believes that she is so unlikable, people must pretend)?
7. Tori does not participate in Becky and Evelyn’s conversation and only reacts to them when she ‘deduces’ she’s supposed to (p.5); she feels ‘pressured’ to contribute something to the conversation (p.5); she expresses her disinterest in the current discussed topic (p.5) and believes she ruined the conversations, so she leaves
→ Tori doesn't connect naturally with people, even when she considers one of them her friends and rather feels pressured to react in certain way than feeling invited to share herself authentically
→ without Becky and Evelyn even saying anything nor showing any reaction regarding Tori impacting the conversation immensely negatively, Tori’s insecurity of not meeting expectations causes her to escape the situation right away
8. Tori says she sometimes hates people what must be bad for her mental health (p.5)
→ does she include herself in that statement like she did in the beginning (p.3)?
→ self-awareness
→ awareness of mental health (I’m just adding that, because when I was her age ‘mental health’ was not a term that was used too often yet nor truly cared about/ talked about, so in my reality it is somewhat remarkable that Tori observes herself and immediately evaluates whether her thoughts could be detrimental to her health, that she immediately makes that connection; I also wonder if that’s caused by being confronted with mental health due to Charlie being such a big part of her life)
9. Tori focuses on ‘social hierarchy’ in school (p.5)
→ categorizing her social environment
10. ‘shoot me in the face’ (p.5)
→ another self-detrimental joke/ phrase
→ radical way of thinking and agains with the worst outcome for herself in mind
11. Tori not feeling pretty in school uniform (p.6)
→ insecurity about her appearance
the plot commences or Tori in action
Tori sees and follows post-it (p.6)
→ she observes and takes action
2.other people don’t see post it; ‘…or they don’t care. I can relate to that.’ (p.6)
→ people oblivious; Tori differentiated from people
→ Tori can relate to the general sense of not caring, however in this case she does care contrary to her words; at least she cares enough to register the post-it and actively follow it
3. doing stuff that other people don't seem to care about makes Tori feel like she is doing something important (p.7); ‘mainly because no one else is doing it’ (p.7)
→ differentiating herself from others
→ paying attention to things that seemingly don't get attention (Is that an interior wish of hers as she feels like not truly being payed attention to?)
→ shows her trait of not leaving things (or people) alone by themself (Charlie)
→ she cares, she seeks out moments of significance
4. she’s rather paying attention to the game Solitaire than to the IT class (p.8)
→ solitaire = alone, isolated
→ again, paying attention to what others don't
→ literally involving with what’s alone, while being alone doing so; isolating herself from her surrounding by seeking out what’s isolate; bonding over isolation
→ she also evaluates that playing Solitaire does more for her intelligence than paying attention to the IT lesson (p.8) → being alone appears to be more beneficial to her
5. Michael enters the room and verbally registers the room first (p.8)
6. Tori thinks that he registers her only after he scanned the inanimate parts of the room (p.9)
7. Tori judges Michael’s appearance (p.9)
8. Michael ‘absorbs’ Tori’s face (p.9)
→ not just ‘looking’ or ‘seeing’, he literally takes her in from her perspective
9. ‘his eyes flare up’ + ‘I swear to Got they double in size’
→ most animated way Tori has described something yet
→ (I love the eye flaming up phrase so much!)
10. ‘leaps towards me like a pouncing lion’ (p.9)
→ comparison
→ wildness, strength
→ movement towards her (contrary to the last described encounter in which Becky, her allegedly best friend physically moves away from her)
11. ’ fiercely enough that I stumble backward in fear that he might crush me completely’ (p.9)
→ it is possible that Michael actually moves in such exaggerated manner, but it might also be such a drastic contrast to Tori that she uses such strong wordings to describe him due to not being used that people react so strongly to her
→ the unfamiliarity of Michaels demeanor overwhelms Tori
12. ‘he leans forward’; ‘face only centimeters away from mine’ (p.9)
→ Michael leans into Tori’s presence
13. Tori sees herself in Michael’s glasses
→ she sees herself first when she’s forced to look at him closely
14. ‘He grins violently’ (p.9)
→ I just love that sentence, okay. Michael just has such a strong presence, especially in a place like school that Tori keeps describing as ‘dull’ (p.6). So many contrasts that crystallize characteristics.
15. ‘’Victoria Spring’, he cries’ + big arms thrown in the air movement (p.9)
→ he celebrates that he found her
16. Tori stay quiet and ‘has a headache’ (p.9)
→ contrast to Michael’s reaction; her lack of reaction
→ overwhelm?, confusion?; hating people?
17. Tori finds her picture awful (p.10)
→ insecure about her appearance
18. ‘It’s like I don’t even have a face’ (p.10 )
→ lack of identity, significance?; hidden away
19. ‘Michael steps back a little’ but only to give her back her personal space (p.10)
→ he moves away, but remains as close as possible without irrupting Tori’s comfort unnecessarily
20. Michael’s ‘insane smile’ (p.10)
→ Tori describing/ judging his appearance (she’s so obsessed with his smile, haha)
21. ‘Everything lit up like it’s on fire’; ‘He notices me looking too’; ‘’It’s like it’s pulling you out, isn't it?’’ (p.11)
→ the foreshadowing, hehe
→ he notices her actions/ immersion/ interest and reacts to it by directly talking to her
22. ‘You are definitely Tori Spring, aren’t you’. ‘This should be a question, but he says it like he’s already known for a long time’ (p.12)
→ he does know her from when he showed her around at school last year; Tori doesn't know that they already met yet
→ without knowing, she intuitively interprets his words correctly; he knows she’s Victoria Spring, he recognizes her and has known about her for a long time
23. contrast of interest level regarding the solitaire case/ mystery (p.12)
Tori calling the day ‘pointless’ (p.13)
→ Tori lost interest I the post-it and blog the second Michael joined the moment; she already stated that she finds significant in moments no one but her is involved in and with Micheal now being another person paying attention to the post-it, Tori’s attention isn't the solely presence anymore ergo she looses interest and a feeling of significance
24. Tori feels deeply for Michael’s sudden sadness (p.13)
→ she can’t but care
25. Tori doesn't know what to do (p.13)
→ the post-it task lost significance due to Michael ruining her solidarity, but now Michael she is alone with him and the only one who is paying attention to him, therefore his sudden reaction forces her to go through a sudden shift as well, him bringing a sense of significance
→ Tori’s apathy and confusion collide with the rollercoaster of the situation
26. ‘You don’t say anything you mean’ (p.15)
→ Michael doesn't know Tori yet sees through her
27. Tori describes her laugh as a ‘pathetic sort of expulsion of air’ (p.15)
→ emphasis of her insecurity by choice of words connoting a neutral thing such as a chuckle or laugh
28. ‘Who are you, Victoria Spring?’ (p.15) - ‘I am nothing’ (p.15)
→ we just got an introduction by Tori beyond only her name and now she states she does not know how to answer that question beyond listing her name
→ insecurity, low self-worth
→ also, the fact that she thinks so deeply about how she could possibly answer that question by a stranger, just to realize how she does not feel like being anything/ anyone more worthy than ‘nothing’, instead of not caring and walking away, well, proves that she does care; she listens and thinks and doesn't find an answer that she evaluates as satisfying
29. she doesn't know at on point Michael hands her the post-it before he vanishes;
‘This is probably how it starts’
→ with a moment of significance (her own definition of significance in moments of seemingly being the only one paying attention and taking action)
→ with being seen and looked at and talked with (encounter with Michael)
→ by taking action as one’s own decision (following post-it)
→ by being recognizes (by Micheal)
→ by an unfamiliar encounter in an otherwise familiar and dull place
→ by being confronted with oneself (seeing herself in his glasses; being asked who she is)
Analepsis
Tori became form leader by getting volunteered ‘mostly because no one else wanted to do so’ (p.9f)
→ taking action when others don’t
2. Tori’s hair cut story (p.14f)
→ her inner tumult and its exterior display

ouattober2023 Day 7: Fav Side Chara
Tumblr media
Mulan (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧
I think Once Upon A Time has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great characters everywhere. I may not be a fan of a lot of the way romances got handled, and I have opinions about the untapped potential left and right, but the characters we got to witness are pretty amazing. That's why even when I didn't care about the larger plot, I always had fun with this show. So many cool characters. But making me pick one who left an impact on me with not much screentime (well, at least I have 12 eps) and had me screaming for more - it's Mulan. Of course she does have the advantage of having one of the best animated Disney Princess movies.
Although that's a funny thing here. Where known fairytales got a little twist here and there, Mulan's backstory isn't really touched upon. She wears her armor, is a well-trained soldier/warrior and now travels a lot. It's like "we know you know the movie, let's get on". The one re-occuring thing we get is this fabulous moment when she takes off her helmet and people go "omg you're a girl" and she gets to correct them "woman". A+ Being viewed as a dude and if not getting underestimated is her thing.
An outstanding moment I love about Mulan? In 2x06 Tallahassee Emma tells her to cut down the beanstalk should she not be back within ten hours and also to do everything to get Snow back home to Storybrooke. It's the classic situation doing something dangerous while the clock is ticking. And usually a hero will be like "five more minutes", everything is very close. But we need moments of real tension to undercut the usual. And Mulan is so perfect for this. Because she will honor this agreement to the letter. She is one to ask to follow difficult orders. Snow actually does tackle her to the ground and yes, Emma arrives a few minutes late, then all is fine. But this is the cornerstone of Mulan as a character - give her a task, she will do it, with everything she has. It could even be something detriment to her own happiness or well-being. A character trait that can be a strength and a flaw at the same time. The range! We could have seen this later on if Mulan had stayed. She could have been a person to side with "the reasonable option" against the group of hope-loving heroes even.
That doesn't mean Mulan is uncaring. We got to witness how she fell in love with Aurora, we know she has a soft side. Sure, she protected Aurora, because she promised Philip to take care of her, but that situation became very personal. And omg that scene when Mulan gives Aurora her heart back... has any heart been placed back with such care? Such a sensual scene!
Tumblr media
It's soul-crushing they kinda did this to Mulan twice. Robbing her of finding love, watching on as somebody under a Sleeping Curse gets True Love's Kiss, never experiencing that magic herself. But apart from that, when she gets her heart crushed (only figuratevily) in 3x03 Quite a Common Fairy and announces she'd join Robin Hood's band - I did hope she would. She could have been an excellent addition. Especially since the Merry Men could have used more to do (just like the dwarves). That would have been such a fun mix and overall a great way to eventually get Mulan to Storybrooke. That ep did make it clear that Robin would have a bigger role, attaching Mulan to him seemed logical.
I also like that Mulan's first instinct is to not trust people. She sees Neal, she recognized the style of clothing and she is suspicious (great contrast to Aurora's reaction). But Neal wins her over and boom, once Mulan is in your side, you can relax. Such a good partner for whatever errand you have to run. Which is why it makes sense that when Ruby asks if Mulan wants to join her on a search for werewolves, Mulan says yes. (Not like she has anything better to do.) Mulan craves a purpose. Imagine somebody would have introduced her to colorful textmarkers and color-coded itineraries. Belle showed her how useful information out of a book can be, they could have solved more situations together.

Rosette Vitrail ☘️
(Black Clover OC Profile ☘️)
Rosette is one of my most important OCs I created for Black Clover and also one of my favorites. I'm really happy to share her with all of you 💕
☘️☘️☘️
Basic Information
Name: Rosette Vitrail
Age: currently 18
Birthday: 13th November
Sign: Scorpio
Love Interest: Solid Silva
Birthplace: Clover Kingdom's Capital, city villa of house Vitrail
Current Location: Clover Kingdom, Silva Palace
Affinity: Glass Magic
Likes: Detective Novels, Chocolate, the sound of rain against glass, any kind of art with glass, Gossip
Dislikes: Any kinds of diets (one of her biggest nightmares), Unfairness, Contradiction, Arrogance of nobles (especially from her own house), too colorful clothes
Grimoire Design: Black with colorful patterns that look like the rose stained glass windows of a cathedral. The clover is in the middle of it.
Appearance:
Hair Color: White blonde
Eye Color: very pale grey
Height: 158 cm
Due to her appearance, Rosette had a reputation of being unhealthy within Cloverian nobility (which isn't true, she is actually healthy as an ox): Very thin, not very big, extremely pale in skin, hair and eyes, not to mention fragile looking. So, she is mostly invisible in a way.
Rosette mostly wears dresses in any shades of grey (grey is her favorite color), sometimes just grey, sometimes added with some color (most of the time pink, purple, blue, turquoise and green, sometimes also red, yellow, orange and others when she feels bold). Most of her dresses have either an empire waist or a normal one. When she wears grey with another color, there is a ribbon of the same color around her waist.
Her hair is very straight and she usually let it fall free, often hold back by a ribbon (mostly a grey one). Rosette keeps her hair long, currently it falls right above the middle of the back.
Her fingers are long and elegant, but she still has the habit to nag her nails when she's thinking (and she thinks a lot).
Rosette is so pale that sometimes, people have the impression that sunlight can shine through her.
Personality:
Rosette is a very calm girl and also very observant (due to her childhood). Having spent a lot of times within noble circles of Clover, she became a secret force about gossip and to notice the smallest details. She has very much a detective mind (might be a bit the Hercule Poirot or the Jane Marple of the Clover Kingdom). While she has a romantic side, Rosette is pretty much pragmatic when it comes to herself.
Rosette is very aware about her reputation of not having a very good health and while it had hurt her when she was a child, growing up she decided to make it a mask and a strength instead. She embraced her invisibility, using it to listen to gossips. Over time, she started to have a lot of fun to be invisible and to push people without being noticed, but other times, before she came to live with the Silvas, she felt rather lonely and wish for someone to actually SEE her.
Unlike most nobles, Rosette doesn't look down on people from lower circles than her. At first, she really didn't have an opinion, but through her observations, she came to see commoners, peasants and even misfits as people and started to silently rebel against unfairness. She also doesn't consider training unfitting for a noble and trained her magic in secret for long. But she only started to train self-defense after she came to live with Silvas and interacting more with the Black Bulls.
Rosette is also pretty cheeky and insolent at times, not afraid to go into secret or forbidden archives if she wants to check upon something. Sometimes, when she is angry at a noble, she also likes to make some innocent prank (her invisible mask comes pretty in handy in those situations). After moving into the Silva Palace, when she isn't at noble circles, she is more opened and Vanessa teached her how to tease.
Rosette is also very stubborn when it comes to diets, convinced that they never work at all. Charmy loves her for that.
Despite everything, Rosette still has some affection for her family, but isn't blind that they won't change and accepted a long time ago that she can only love them from afar.
Background:
Rosette is from high nobility and from one of the most influential noble houses in Clover. House Vitrail mostly has members with glass magic. She is the second daughter of the head of house Vitrail, Verre Vitrail and his wife, lady Cristal. She has an older sister, Athénaïs. Rosette often lived in the shadow of her sister. In fact, Athénaïs is a true beauty, long golden locks and royal blue eyes, a porcelain skin, her frame is considered to be perfection. Athénaïs is also a typical noble, vain and arrogant and full of herself. But also intelligent and for a while, she was considered to be the perfect noble lady to marry into royalty... Especially Nozel Silva. Rosette still likes her sister, but is not blind to her flaws and consider that it's not to bad if they don't see each other often. Athénaïs, despite all her flaws, still has affection for her younger sister, but it is mostly a selfish affection, because caring for her poor unhealthy little sister is good for her own reputation (there is still genuine affection, though). Her parents have some affection for Rosette, but like normal noble parents, it's mostly vain and often, they don't even realize she's here.
Due to her so-called poor health, Rosette was very lonely as a child. When she wasn't going out on places for typical noble ladies - like circles, tea parties, promenades, soirées or balls - she either spent most of her time in her room or when she was able to sneak out alone, into the library or into some places not "fitting" for a noble girl. She read a lot during those times, learned some foreign languages by herself and also trained her magic. Fun fact, due to a coincidence, she managed to create colored glass. Curious about her discovery, she went (sneak) into libraries and archives to search about any clues about glass magic with stained glass. Sadly, she didn't found much, as stained glass isn't really a thing yet, even for glass magic users. So, she had to work on this without any clue.
Also due to her poor health, her mother swore on giving Rosette very special diet meals, even though she was already so thin. And this is the origin of Rosettes hatred towards diets. One time, she secretly eat A LOT of fattening food during one week... and still waits for those pounds to appear. In the end, Rosette came to the conclusion that she was maybe naturally thin.
Solid Silva:
Rosette and Solid had an arranged marriage. But how it came to that is a little novel. On Solids side, he was for some reason convinced that romantic love was stupid and he claimed that he wanted an arranged marriage, no objection accepted.
On Rosettes side, it was a bit more complicated. First, she came alone to the conclusion that to do something permanent against unfairness within the Clover Kingdom, you have to be a royal. For herself, this would mean that she had to marry into royalty. Like mentioned before, Rosette was very pragmatic when it comes to herself and even though she knew that arranged marriage aren't bond with happiness, she thought that with the right royal family, she might at least have some freedom. She choose the Silvas, for different reasons but also because she felt that there was something with them (not to mention in my headcanons, the current Silva Siblings are also the last Silvas) and Rosette is of course also curious.
Second, Rosette wanted to move away from her family and she wanted to have a real home. Yes, arranged marriages didn't imply getting a home, but Rosette thought that once married and away from house Vitrail, she might work to make her own home.
In a very subtle way, she casually told her father that marrying his second daughter into royalty wouldn't be so bad and her father even believed that he got this idea all by himself. Rosette had to go through some kind of hearing or interview in front of the three royal House Heads, so that they could determine if she was fit to be a royal. She did very well, as house Vitrail got a proposal for her to marry Solid the very next day. Rosette was also bold enough to suggest that she could already move into the Silva Palace, to learn properly to be a royal. This had been once an betrothal tradition that hadn't been applied for decades, but to Rosettes luck, hadn't been abolished either.
It took some time, but the Silvas as well as Vanessa, Asta and even Zora came to like her. Rosette started quickly to feel at home at the Silva Palace. As time passed, she was invited to spend time with the Black Bulls and came to appreciate them. They liked her too, especially Charmy. In fact, after seeing how thin Rosette was, Charmy became pretty worried and gave herself the mission to fattening "this poor bony milk glass" with the most delicious food. Which didn't work, as Rosette is naturally thin. But Rosette didn't complained. After so many years with tasteless and too healthy diet meals, Charmys food and any fat dishes in general were paradise for her.
As for Solid, he and Rosette didn't wait to talk about their betrothal and making things clear that this was an arranged marriage. She suggested to him that they should become partners and trust each other, since they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. Solid accepted, surprised and deep down also grateful that for the first time, someone was ready to trust him and call him a partner. Under Rosettes patience, kind scolding and trust, while he was still a jerk, Solid matured and his redeeming traits started to be more visible. As for Rosette, being with Solid was refreshing to her, as for the first time, she didn't felt alone and he was actually SEEING her.
By getting along, they became close friends and slowly, very slowly, they started to fall in love. Once he realized it, Solid had a total panic attack. He actually run into Nozels office, screaming in fear: "Big brother, it's terrible! I fell in love with my fiancee!" As for Rosette, her biggest surprise was mostly, "Wait, I'm actually able to love without feeling regret and resignation?"
By the time they got married, Solid and Rosette already confessed to each other (a funny situation for her, awkward for him, sweet for both), so despite being arranged, it was a love wedding in the end.
Rosette and Solid aren't the most romantic couple. Rosette is still very pragmatic and Solid, well, is very unsure about being loving and romantic, not to mention still a jerk. But they got along very well and are still a team very often. A team with Rosette as the brain and Solid as the one taking action. Rosette also teases Solid a lot and is the only one unaffected by his jerk attitude. She kinda find this side of him a bit hot.
Trivia:
Rosettes name comes from the rose windows in cathedrals. It means also "little rose" in French.
Vitrail is the French word for stained-glassed window.
I started to imagine Rosette while I was reading the novels of Agatha Christie. This is why I kinda imagine her as the Hercule Poirot or Jane Marple of the Clover Kingdom.
Starts to talk in different languages at the same time when she's upset.
Yami gave her the nickname Ghost Girl, because she is so pale.
Isn't the best cook, but at least can make any kinds of cocoa, chocolate cream or mousse and even grilled cheese sandwiches by herself.
Is a very good dancer. Solid isn't, so when they have to dance, it is Rosette who leads.
Teaches Asta a lot of things about nobility, as she's convinced it will help him once he becomes the Wizard King.
Supports both Nozel and Asta for becoming Wizard King. She supports her new family.
Bonds with Zora about pranks, even though Rosette is nicer.
Bonds with Nebra about gossip.
Once she started to live with the Silvas, Rosette also started to train self-defense. She also has an incredible sense of balance, but only got to train it after she moved away from her family.
Is very irritated that Ki-reading didn't prevented Yami and Asta to be dense.
Helps sometimes Nozel with affairs of house Silva. Over time, he even trusted Rosette directly with some affairs. Since she isn't a Magic Knight, she has a lot of times.
Rosette is one of Charmys favorite people outside of the Black Bulls.
Vanessa started to teach her about needlework. They got along very well.
Became one of Noelles best friends.
Rosette learned about the Silva's past over time and she admired them that despite the mistakes and the past pain, they were able to heal, to make amends and to become a family again. Also helped Solid and Noelle to mend their bonds.
Rosette and Solid got two children together. A son named Eis and a daughter named Nanthilde.

Savage Love Chapter 33: Finally, a Break
Series: Savage Love
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairings: Riley x Liam, Riley x Drake normally but for THIS chapter, there's a little Riley x Madeleine
Word Count: 2,549
Rating: NSFWish
Warnings: Lemon scented
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
“Thank you so much for inviting me to dinner tonight,” I gushed as I stepped into Madeleine’s private room.
Her room wasn’t much different than my own. The small, round table situated halfway between the sleeping area and the bathroom was set with candles, silver covers adorned the serving dishes, and a bottle of chilled champagne rested next to the plates.
Oh yes, this was an intimate dinner. Any questions I had left about her intentions towards me vanished in a puff of smoke as I took in the room and her elegant, but revealing, dress.
I knew exactly how to get information out of her.
“I’m so happy you were available!” Her smile dropped as she produced a wand scanner, “Sorry, this has to be done first. It’s not that I don’t trust you…”
I gave her my brightest smile, “Trust but verify! I understand completely!”
I felt vindication that I hadn’t let Drake talk me into any type of device that would transmit as Madeliene ran the wand over every inch of my body. And I do mean every inch.
Her hand rested a bit longer than necessary on my hip. She clicked the wand off and stepped back with a smile, “I knew you’d understand! You really are one of us! I told my father we could trust you!”
“I appreciate the vote of confidence, especially with your father! He’s the leader, right?” I kept my tone light as I made my way to the table.
Madeleine took the seat opposite me and reached for the champagne, “Oh, of the Cordonian branch, yes. Emmeline is his lieutenant.”
I opened my eyes wide in feigned surprise, “The Cordonian branch? You mean…there’s more?”
“Oh yes,” she tittered as she filled our glasses, “We have chapters in nearly every country in Europe!”
“Wow!” I breathed out as I batted my eyelashes, “That’s impressive!”
“It is and one day I’ll take his place as leader.”
“I don’t doubt that for a minute!” I gushed, “You’re so smart and driven! I like that in a woman!”
I mean, it was true enough. I do admire strength and drive, I just prefer those things to be directed at the greater good, not at self-aggrandizing and building criminal empires. But I was intimately acquainted with the latter, just about every target I’d helped take down was powerful and ambitious, in all the wrong kinds of ways.
Like most narcissists, heaping praise on her encouraged her to continue talking about herself, which was my goal.
“I could say the same about you,” her gaze lingered on me as she poured the champagne.
I lowered my eyes to the table, pretending to be caught off guard by the admiration. I licked my lips then slowly lifted my eyes to her as I raised the champagne flute, “To strong, powerful women then.”
“I’ll drink to that!” Her eyes stayed locked on me as we drank. She lowered her glass with a smile, “I hope you enjoy the meal, I wasn’t sure what you like, but Italian food is usually safe.”
I inhaled appreciatively as she removed the lids from the serving dishes. Chicken and mushroom risotto, focaccia bread, a simple salad and over roasted vegetables, an aromatic and colorful mix of yellow squash, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, and beets.
“Everything looks and smells delicious!” I told her honestly.
The meal was delicious, but then food from the royal kitchen always was. The Rys family understood good cuisine, I’d give them that. It seemed like a good way to steer the conversation back toward the royal family and hopefully more information on the Via Imperii.
“King Constantine sure knew what he was doing when he hired the kitchen staff! Good to know that when I’m queen, hiring good help won’t be an issue.”
That earned a smile from Madeleine, “You’re very confident, aren’t you?”
I gave her a self-assured smile as I swirled the effervescent liquid around in my flute.
This was it. The moment I solidified my position within the Via Imperii ranks and earned their trust once and for all.
It’s not like I was giving away state secrets. Everyone would know about the abdication come morning, but this tidbit of insider information would convince them that I was on their side and prevent the fact that I was present in that council meeting from ever biting me in the ass if it got out.
With a teasing lilt in my voice, I informed her, “Because you were right about Leo and Olivia, but I have news you’re going to want to hear.”
“I’m all ears,” she leaned forward with interest.
“Leo abdicated today! Which means Liam will be the next king and Liam and I have already….well…bonded.”
She watched me warily, “And how do you know this?”
“I was there!”
“You were in a council meeting? How?”
“I told you…Liam and I are close. I was with him when he got the call to meet Leo in the council chambers, so I went with him.”
She stared at me in silence for a heartbeat then her face lit up like it was Christmas morning, “I knew we could trust you!”
She was so very, very wrong.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean…” she took a long, slow sip from her glass before peering over the rim at me, “I already knew all of that.”
“What? How?” I demanded, my surprise real. No one outside of that council chamber should know yet.
“We have a source,” she replied vaguely, “May I ask why you advocated for continuing the social season rather than getting engaged right away?”
“Appearances,” I answered promptly, “The monarchy needs the support of the noble houses after all. Making them feel like they wasted their time and resources by sending their daughters is a mistake. One Leo already made. Liam can’t afford to compound that if he’s going to be a strong ruler. I don’t want to start out on the wrong foot with Cordonian elite society. I’m working on their behalf, after all.”
Clearly, there was a leak in the council, that was the only possible explanation. Relief flooded me that I had made the right call by telling her I was there so it didn’t look like I was hiding things from her. Which I was. But she didn’t know that.
I made a note to myself to let Liam know there was a traitor sitting on his father’s council. And to be a lot more careful with my comings and goings on the third floor.
I decided to shift the subject away from what had gone in the council chambers, “When will you reach out to Liam? I assume that’s the next step.”
“Oh, absolutely! Within the week! I’m not hopeful though,” she frowned as she pushed the food around on her plate, “He’s far too close to Drake Walker.”
“Wasn’t he raised as a member of the royal family?”
“Yes,” she tapped one fire engine red nail against the edge of her gold-rimmed bone china plate, “But his blood is still common. I don’t know how the entire Rys family became so enamored of the lower classes that they allowed one to strut around pretending he’s one of them…”
“It doesn’t matter,” I reminded her, “Even if he declines our offer, I will be the next queen, allowing us a foothold in the administration.”
“True…” her eyes traced my face thoughtfully, “He does seem quite taken with you…”
“We do get along quite well,” I agreed noncommittedly.
“How well?” Was that a note of jealousy in her voice?
I gave her a wicked grin, “Well enough. Don’t worry, I’m sure I can wrangle him down the aisle with no problem at all.”
“So, your alleged connection with Leo…”
I shrugged as I stabbed a forkful of salad, “It was true, we connected when we first met. But to be honest, you were right about Olivia, I couldn’t quite pry his attention away from her. Liam, on the other hand…”
“Hedging your bets,” she nodded, “That’s forward thinking, I like it!”
When the meal was finished, Madeline suggested drinks on the balcony, but before I could make it to the door, her body blocked mine. She leaned into me, one finger trailing from my throat to the valley between my breasts, her eyes heavy with desire as she asked, “Just how invested are you in Liam?”
I gave her a sultry grin as my hand went to her face, “Liam is just business. Why do you ask?”
Then she was kissing me and goddamn if it wasn’t a good kiss. I melted into it a little. Why did all the psycho killers kiss so fucking good? Rico had been a good kisser. Too bad he was out for my blood now. Just like Madeleine would be if she ever discerned my true intentions, so I grabbed two handfuls of her hair and made the kiss believable. I pushed my body against hers and slid my tongue past her soft, pouty lips into her welcoming mouth.
She moaned as her hands glided down my back, landing firmly on my ass. She breathed my name against my lips.
I released her hair, my fingers gliding down the velvety smooth skin of her back to tug at her zipper. I pulled the zipper down and then slipped my fingers under the thin straps of her dress, pushing them down her arms.
She arched her body into me as she returned the favor, stripping the clothes from my body and lavishing brutal kisses along every inch of exposed flesh her lips could find.
She was bare in front of me as my hand cupped one perfectly rounded breast.
I jolted forward as her hand slipped between my legs, stroking gently but firmly through my panties.
One day soon I’d be slapping cuffs on her, and not in the fun sexy way. But that day was not today, and I was ready for what she was offering.
A shrill chirping noise cut the silence and she cursed thoroughly as she pulled away from me with a shaky breath. “I am so sorry, but that’s my father’s ringtone. I have to take it.”
“It’s fine,” I told her as I stepped away from her, “We should probably slow down anyway.”
Always leave them wanting more. It’s not the giving it to them that gets their guard down. It’s the pursuit of it. Lust and frustration make everyone stupid. Careless.
She excused herself to the bathroom for privacy as I put myself back together. I straightened out my dress, fixed my hair, and reapplied my lipstick.
When she came back out, she was wrapped in a towel and her eyes were glittering with excitement.
“Good news?” I fluttered my eyelashes at her.
“Great news! But why are you dressed? You’re not leaving are you?”
“I didn’t want to intrude on whatever that was about,” I gestured toward her phone.
“Hmm,” she tossed the phone onto the bed and tapped a highly polished nail against her pouty lips, “I have to join my father for some Via Imperii business.”
“Then I’ll get out of your way,” I tossed my hair over my shoulder, making sure my cleavage was on full display as I did so.
She was clearly torn between wanting to finish what we started and whatever business was going down with the Via Imperii. She seemed to come to a decision. Reaching out for my arm, she stopped me in my tracks, “Come with me!”
“Go with you where?” I laughed.
“You don’t need to know the details.”
“I can’t just leave in the middle of the social season,” I protested as if I hadn’t just gotten back from Auvernall, “what would that look like?”
She regarded me with equal parts desire and frustration for several long seconds before blurting out, “If I tell you what it’s about, will you come?”
“Madi,” I moved closer to her, filling my eyes with concern, “I would never ask you to reveal anything confidential.”
My seeming disinterest was enough to convince her that I could be trusted, “We know where the missing heir to the throne is!”
My eyes widened, betraying my actual shock, “Really?”
“Yes!” She was positively squirming with delight, “Apparently leadership at the global level has always known where the heir is. They finally decided to let my father in on the secret.”
“And they’re sure this heir is legitimate?”
“Oh, yes. DNA testing has verified the child is a Rys, apparently living in Vallenheim all this time. We’re going to meet in Hidar to discuss possible next steps if Liam proves as intractable as his brother.”
My blood ran cold. They only needed another heir if they were planning to dispose of Liam. Leo had removed himself from the line of succession, so he was safe. Articles of abdication were permanent. He could not sit on the throne even if something happened to Liam.
Though technically by abdicating Leo had removed him and his descendants from the line of succession, Liam could appoint one of Leo’s children his heir if he had no children of his own. But neither of them had any children yet. That would make a sibling next in line.
But Liam would have to abdicate or die for the throne to be vacated. And I couldn’t see that man abdicating for any reason. He was too loyal, too dedicated, too fucking honorable.
Fuck!
“I’ll go,” I kept my voice light, “If it means I get to spend more time with you!”
There was nothing and no one that was going to keep me from pursuing this lead. Maybe when I found Liam’s sister, I could convince her not to go along with the Via Imperii.
There was always a chance she was being held by them against her will. I wondered again why Eleanor had hidden her away.
“Excellent!” Madeleine clapped her hands together, “You should go pack a few things! We’re leaving in two hours. Meet me out front in an hour and a half and we’ll head to the airfield together.”
“How long will we be gone?”
“Shouldn’t be more than a few days. We have to be back before the next court-sponsored event.”
“Yes, I’m looking forward to the regatta.” The social season was winding down and I needed to take down the Via Imperii sooner rather than later. I probably had enough to take down the Cordonian faction right now, but they would simply regroup. They could easily rebuild and regain a foothold within the country once the GIA was gone.
But If I played my cards right, we could take the whole thing down.
I had to take the whole thing down, because as long as the Via Imperii existed anywhere in the world, Liam wasn’t safe. As long as they possessed another true blood heir that would do their bidding, his life could easily be forfeited and that was completely unacceptable.
I had to let Drake and Liam know I was leaving. Neither was going to be thrilled about it, but neither was going to be able to stop me.
Come hell or high water, I was going to Hidar.

teen wolf has what we call a soft magic system. it's rules aren't wholly defined and rigid so there is a lot of interpretation and wiggle room for the writers.
think of how star wars handles the force over how harry potter's magic has specific rules and boundaries.
there is something of explanation though and it lies with duecalion.
duecalion explains to theo in the beast of beacon hills:
"that's the secret to taking power. pain. take their pain, take their life, take their power. It's all or nothing. you take until there's nothing more to give. that's where you find the spark of power. and then, you take that as well. pain, life, power. in that order and only that order."
we see theo put this into practice with his pack and it's because of this liam even thinks to bring him back in 6a but his time in hell stripped of all that extra power just as peter's resurrection left him weaker than an omega.
power has a cost but there is power in taking it from someone else, from taking their life and energy. this is something we see many times throughout the show actually.
it's the driving principle behind the alpha pack. selfishly they killed their pack members which enhanced their own powers and than by following duecalion they enhanced his power.
it's why they wanted derek to kill boyd and isaac so badly. taking their power would make derek more powerful and therefore increase their power if he joined them.
we see this when derek mercy kills paige and why his eyes changed color. he absorbed a lot of her pain and than her life energy which therefore gave him more power.
incidentally this is probably why there's a stigma to blue eyes within the supernatural community which peter hints at when he is trying to manipulate stiles and cora in visionary:
"taking an innocent life takes something from you as well... a bit of your soul. darkening it, dimming the once brilliant golden yellow to a cold, steel blue."
fandom took this too literally. there is no morality involved in how power transference works but it's part of the mythos in the supernatural community.
when derek heals cora and his alpha spark is consumed in the process duecalion's words are still the idea behind what occurred. he takes on her pain and she took his excess power to heal herself beyond what a beta could do.
peter explains it in alpha pact:
"it's that spark of power that makes you an alpha. when you take her pain, she draws on the power that provides you with those special gifts: the power that heightens your senses, your strength; the power that transforms your body. as an alpha, you have that bit of extra-- that spark intensifies the color of your eyes from a bright yellow into a searing red."
this the entire reason peter killed laura in the first place and he explained that in wolf's bane:
"yes, becoming an alpha, taking that from laura pushed me over a plateau in the healing process."
remember the speech the nogitsune gives scott in letharia vulpina?
"you should have done your reading, scott. see, a nogitsune feeds off chaos, strife, and pain. this morning, you took it from isaac, then you took it from coach, and then from a dying deputy. all that pain... you took it all. now, give it to me."
even jennifer gains power from killing and death. she commits sacrifices to gain specific kinds of power which parallels her to duecalion and the alphas. she is not any better than they are despite believing her cause righteous.
as a true alpha scott's spark cannot be stolen. like, peter couldn't just take it by killing scott because that spark is unique to scott specifically. it's incompatible with nearly anyone else except for those who were created by that spark which would only be liam and hayden.
and we know that even in the teen wolf universe they are still beholden to law of conversation of energy so energy cannot be created or destroyed. it has to go somewhere.
so say in season 4, if peter had killed scott than either scott's alpha spark merely dies with him or liam inherits it. than peter kills liam to take the spark.
the same for theo in season 5. he cannot take scott's power so he engineers liam killing scott and than he would kill liam for it.
never mind that theo isn't an actual supernatural creature but one created by the dread doctors so it's unclear if he could take the power anyway but i am digressing and it's all fucking convoluted but here we are.
like, we know corinne wanted to kill malia to try to regain the power she believed stolen from her when malia was born. instead malia pulled a reverse uno by using belasko's claws on her.
inheritance seems to be the most peaceful way power 1. remains in families and 2. transfers as a whole.
when talia had laura, derek and cora they inherited a piece of her spark which made them born wolves. when talia died the alpha spark went to laura but since laura was murdered by peter the line of inheritance was interrupted.
now there's a nebulous little thing of scott being dead for like 15 minutes and liam didn't become an alpha and this is where the soft magic system comes into play.
go with the story. sometimes you just have to accept things for the sake of the story over getting a concrete answer.
also this is why frayed is hilarious in retrospect. they all think derek died but none of them take a moment and realize that neither isaac or boyd have become alphas because none of these idiots know how things work quite yet.
the brain cell was calling but no one was home.
i will acknowledge they also didn't know if someone just didn't come along and finished derek off while he lay there dying but i think my line of thinking is funnier.
but for example say derek died in season 2 when peter resurrected himself. something which came close to happening. than derek's alpha spark would probably go to isaac who was his first created beta.
it's the reason scott didn't become alpha upon peter's death. derek killed peter taking that energy and became the alpha thereby breaking the line of inheritance.
therefore one can become an alpha by inheritance which is likely how the hale pack maintained it's power and is the most peaceful, by killing which is common but frowned upon and by changing their own spark via willpower extremely rare.
tl;dr pain is the secret sauce in the teen wolf universe.

Liveblog 7: episode 4
Sorry for the long wait. First I had finals in uni, then I spent a week drinking and replaying disco elysium after celebrating new years eve, sooo yeah. But, for now, until the exams, I am back.
Let's begin! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris is so quick to find him and look at what he's doing. I love how dedicated he is to it. Kerubim is just... immediately tired.
Glad to know my fic's characterization of him being tired of Joris's questions the second they're asked is still holding true.
Tumblr media
Very well said for the guy whose house even, after cleaning, is a major death hazard. But ok.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I LOVE YOU JORIS. I won't read too much into this, because there really isn't much here, but really, Joris knows how to manipulate Keke.
Manipulating adults is kinda THE thing kids have to learn. He's very good at this.
Tumblr media
To come back to the past post's Lou Divorce Theorising, it's important to note that both of them were equally unhinged and prone to breaking up with one another. A very deep and meaningful relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We will see later what he means by "It's not my fault I have fans," in the depictions of his relationship with her that aren't censored by him being the storyteller.
AKA the fact that mostly, it means him cheating on her. Lol. I'll talk about it during one of the most important episodes of this entire show.
Tumblr media
Anyway,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing is that, despite how awful they are together, he really does love her.
He can't really stop playing the role of the macho playboy who gets all the chicks, even for love, because that's his entire self-esteem, but it doesn't mean the love isn't there.
(Something-something, I will elaborate on the role of masculinity in Kerubim's story, and how it worsens his already bad, uh... mental everything. But that's a talk for not-the-literal-fourth-episode-of-the-show.)
Tumblr media
When he thinks about her, he thinks about her silliness first and foremost, instead of her looks. Even after they part ways, he blames himself for decades. And that's love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be fair to him, Lou can't stop manipulating & stringing him along herself. Neither of them is a very good person.
As I've said, thats a very, uh, deep and meaningful relationship they have here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God, I really, really love the art style of this show.
Tumblr media
"My very own puppy-girl was catomized" that's a whole ass new sentence that's never been said before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANOTHER character analysis moment: What really bothers Kerubim the most isn't saving his lover, but being The Hero, especially to her. And I really think it says a lot about him, even if he does love her.
He just immediately starts congratulating himself on being a good boy, and asking her if she also thinks he's a good boy. His self-esteem is so, so bad.
Tumblr media
Another theme of the show that is introduced early on is luck, and Kerubim's relationship with it.
I think Ecaflip just got tired of watching Keke suffer, honestly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She only likes him on her own terms. When she gets to make him feel indebted, or lucky, but not as if she were a damsel and he were her savior.
It makes their relationship sort of one-sided, but it's far from the thing that is most toxic about it.
Tumblr media
Let me be pretentious about this for a second, since this shot composition WAS chosen by someone, and put into the show on purpose.
The whole shot, including the two of them, is blue: the color of being non-confrontational, stagnant, and predictable. It can mean honesty and deceit, being unforgiving or free, and most of all, it is a color that often represents sadness and loss.
They are walking on water here, which is the first thing that one might notice. I will not reference the bible, in a cartoon analysis, but it does conjure up connotations of being at one's prime, and having the strength to do anything.
In comparison to the clouds which surround them, they seem like giants, walking through the sea, which conveys well how his youth must have felt — the whole world is on a platter, and his strength was larger than life.
But the storm clouds surrounding them above and below, in turn, just seem even more giant and looming.
It also brings to mind the connotations of the saying "to have one's head in the clouds." Absentminded, unknowing of the facts of the whole situation.
Overall, this shot puts their relationship well: They were young, beautiful and capable together, travelling the whole world, — but in the end, their bond is marked by sadness, because they were never willing to address their faults in time, and it drove them apart.
And most importantly, the colors disappear when she slaps him, so in a way, it is a very romanticized view on things.
Pretentious tangent over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is our first clue in the show that Kerubim might lie and change the stories he tells, but it is also our clue to take what we are shown seriously regardless.
True, everything shown might be in-universe fiction, but despite Kerubim's narration, we get to see exactly what happened here. So it's best to just take things as they are presented, but with a small grain of salt.
Tumblr media
There's something to be said about the way they are both walking towards more of these storm clouds, or the way she is walking to the left (in cultures with languages that go from left to right, characters walking to the left often symbolizes moving towards the past and stagnating), with him running after her, but eh. I think I may just be reading a lot into it.
It is still fun though, no?
This whole show, in a way, he is chasing the past, telling stories of their lost love. And in a way, he'll always be chasing after her, no matter how doomed their relationship was.
Though it's a very bleak depiction, compared to one that will follow later in the show.
...Perhaps, judging from some concept art, he'll keep chasing her that way, even centuries after she stops living. But that remains to be seen, if Waven takes us there.
Tumblr media
If that's the case, it just adds a layer of tragedy to their relationship.
Even if she never left him, they wouldn't be able to live together forever. She was mortal. He is not.
And that's all there is to say on the matter, I suppose.
(This is a small edit from future me: Kerubim can't stop talking about Indie and Lou in Dofus MMO, even though it happens 200 years after the show. Which is depressing. But I'm still waiting for him to talk about them in Waven, to decide just how depressing this all is.)

- Elumax -
Something that Season 4 manifested in the finale is Elumax - while even originally written as an Elmax only scene, that was changed and El and Lucas crying over Max and the reviving was then Elumax.
Tumblr media
Basically, the original idea wanted to separate them to show who is the intended lover for Max in which realm. However, they kept the concept anyway:
El fights and saves Max in the nick of time in the mind.
Tumblr media
Lucas does the same in the real world (otherwise Max would have a spinal injury if he wouldn't have caught her)
El is the dreamcatcher, protecting Max from the monsters within "If you touch her again, I kill you again."
Lucas is the protector in the real world "Don't touch her!"
Both are overpowered at first but found their strength to fight for Max.
Both have their own ways of love:
Tumblr media
This is why Max can't feel or see anything - Henry stole love from her. He took away these abilities as Brenner explained - it just looks like an injury. Both abilities are important for the characters, symbolizing the way they mainly give and receive love (the final talk between Lucas and Max was by passing notes!) - so bestowing these abilities to Max is of great importance from a narrative perspective alone. ST has a countermeasure in the drawer to what happened and that's El (Please read my post about El & Henry build as foils) , one needs to read a bit between the lines but it is also right in front of us: forget traditional thinking.
(Side note: No one is confused about a psychic guy killing kids in their minds but as soon as it goes the other way, the reaction is "Nah, you can't do that magically." but they are okay with El reviving Max via mind over thousands of miles away. Makes sense. - They can and planed that long time ago.)
It's symbolism, the show is full of symbols and therefore getting these abilities symbolizes Max opening up to love, understanding and accepting who she is.
Of course it will come with a price tag. Because:
Tumblr media
That price is someone elses life: El's (and maybe has already given a part of her life when she resurrected Max) - and Max will have a weak left leg, likely wearing a leg brace like her namesake Mad Max. (Foreshadowed in S3 in the shopping scene and in Will's painting). Her own ability of vision is gone but she'll have a substitute and likely will cover this condition with sunglasses as it will change her eye color like Will's changed. Possession is signaled by change in eye color. Max will however, unlike Will, be possessed by a benevolent force. But I digress...
Furthermore there was an interesting symbol smuggled in by the pinecone that Lucas holds while talking to Max.
Tumblr media
It is one of the many "Neverending Story" references that are mostly about El & Max (the whole song is).
"In your hand the birth of a new day." = rebirth of Max, not just revival because El holds her hand later.
The pinecone is symbol for resurrection, eternal life and regeneration, enlightenment, the third eye and creativity. The latter is important in the mindscape and demonstrated by the fact that Max just altered her surroundings. Who can do that? She just knows, that she can. (and is able to walk across the borders between minds when a link is established when she entered the mind lair)
El herself is wearing a shirt with flowers on it throughout the finale.
Tumblr media
The whole fighting for Max, the symbolism through the pinecone Lucas is holding and El's flower shirt, even the song makes it fundamentally clear where things are heading:
Max been reborn and Elumax as the Endgame.
Because:
"Someday love will find you. True love won't desert you. You know I still love you. Though we touched and went our separate ways."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PS: Max is no damsel in distress or better won't stay that way. Once she's back, it's her turn to fight (with El's help) and we saw glimpses of that when she freed herself the first time and injured Henry. That was a teaser of what her role in 5 will be.

Character Spotlight: Niitsu Orimageru
Tumblr media
It's the shrine maiden of balance and tradition, Niitsu Orimageru!
She's the head priestess of a shrine that's secluded in a forest. This is the Orimageru Shrine, home to the kami of equilibrium, Kinkodo-no-gami. Typically, once a blood descendant of its kami turns 15, they'll be left alone to train, exterminate troublesome youkai, and fulfill their duties as the ambassador of Earth. Niitsu manages the shrine's upkeep, and keeps the surrounding forest's youkai under control. She wasn't supposed to be the head priestess; her older sister Nozomi was supposed to take over a few years ago, but she left the family to pursue a career that she actually wanted.
Personality
Niitsu herself is a bit of a lone wolf due to her training. She seems a little standoffish, but she has a headstrong and inviting personality that strong youkai gravitate towards. She's level-headed and a natural leader, though slightly self-conscious, and wonders whether or not she's really cut out to be the ambassador of Earth. Niitsu is amicable in regular conversation, but her insults can be biting and she has no problem matching an adversary's nastiness. She's well-liked by many, feared by some, and idolized by a few.
Ability
Her ability is inherited from the Kinkodo-no-gami. She can restore or disrupt the balance in anything physical and metaphorical, and trains through meditation and youkai extermination. This is more of a physical ability to make things equal, but she has demonstrated the ability to make her power equal to an opponent's, either by increasing her own energy or diminishing her opponent's strength. Overall, it's an incredibly broad ability that can be disastrous if in the wrong hands, but Niitsu makes no significant use of it.
The true center of her equilibrium powers is the go-shintai of Kinkodo-no-gami, the Kinkodo Spheres. They look like brass armillary spheres with a yin-yang sphere at their core. The spirit of the deity can be directly channelled through these spheres, including its powers. Niitsu is at her absolute strongest when using the Kinkodo Spheres, though she prefers to use omamori (protective charms) and danmaku (colorful bullets made of energy) as projectiles in a fight.
Friends
Her closest friend is Arui Mitasa. They encountered each other when Niitsu was sent by the Kinkodo-no-gami to exterminate Arui as part of her training. Although Niitsu didn't succeed in exterminating the oni, Arui was impressed by her determination, and decided she would stick around in the Orimageru Shrine, much to Niitsu's chagrin. Arui claims Niitsu is a "good friend", to which she usually denies coldly. Nonetheless, they get along well, and Niitsu has even let Arui join in on her visits to other realms.
The High Pharaoh of the Dream World is one of the "realm representatives" she's met. Niitsu thinks Dyzi is nice, but she can't stand the climate of Sarasaland (Dyzi's personal domain), so they will usually meet in Niitsu's dreams. Since meeting her, Niitsu has been noticing a peculiar woman with an umbrella standing just on the edge of the shrine grounds. She doesn't know this, but this woman is Dyzi, who stops by occasionally to leave donations and keep an eye on Niitsu and Arui.
The princess of Yomi is yet another realm official she's met, but this time they're much closer. Honoka Kamejo visits the shrine rarely, but is always a joy to have around. Niitsu brings out Honoka's gentler side, while Honoka brings out more of Niitsu's energy. They empathize with each other, and Honoka has convinced herself that it's her duty to be a bratty little sister to Niitsu.
Enemy
Niitsu, by nature, doesn't have many enemies, but her biggest rival is none other than Sora Kumoriko. He's the de-facto leader of the Kamejo family's royal guard, and is usually the one stirring up trouble. These two are polar opposites in both looks and character, and always manage to find something to disagree on. Niitsu seriously wonders if Sora will ever get tired of starting incidents and settle down for once, or even open up to her, but...

Here's an entire pitch that I came up with for a spin-off video game called "A Tale Of Darkness" that brings together Tangled and Frozen in an unconventional way.
It's a dark fantasy action adventure video game that is a Tangled/Frozen female-led crossover in a different continuity, has Devil May Cry-influenced gameplay and has a mixture of high-quality computer animated cutscenes that advance the story in their own different and unique ways.
Premise:
"A Tale Of Darkness" tells the story of Anna, the sweet and kind-hearted but klutzy and socially awkward young peasant woman who is too clumsy for her own good, always leaving a mess of a trail behind much to her frustration and is seen as an outcast. It's then on one night after humiliating herself at the "Fall Harvest" due to an incident with a pig that her life is turned completely upside-down when living shadows abduct her mother and 10-year-old sister and take them into the deepest and darkest part of the forest.
There, Anna finds herself in a hidden but deadly magical world right under our noses in an attempt to rescue them against all the odds as she now has a hardened armor attached to her body that gives her pale white skin and incredible fighting skills which she now has to use in order to survive and save her mother and sister.
Along the way not only must Anna overcome the highest stakes possible ranging from the numerous macabre creatures to this hidden world's leader whose responsible for everything occurring to said leader's female soldiers with the same armor, pale skin and skills but also find it in herself the courage, maturity and strength she never knew she had.
However in doing so, Anna ends up unintentionally attracting the attention of a certain soldier by the name of Elsa who later towards the final act offers to team up with Anna after not only being impressed with her skills especially in their previous encounters but also finding out her leader's true intentions.
Notes/Trivia/Details:
• The gameplay will be heavily influenced by a lot of the free-world and combat of the first Devil May Cry game and even The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge while at the same time taking what made those gameplays distinctive and making it all its own.... and also fixing all of the problems RebelTaxi had with Oogie's Revenge in his review.
• As for the aesthetic, like I said it will have the same quality of animation that the films, short and special all have with the cutscenes and aforementioned gameplay being done by WDAS. But at the same time, it will also have a gothic and macabre style to it that is almost Tim Burton-reminiscant especially with the backgrounds.
• Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Mandy Moore and Eden Espinosa will all reprise their roles of Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel and Cassandra. The latter three characters are now in this version or continuity part of the army of soldiers with Cass being a maniacal and manipulative one who later uses it for good, Rapunzel being the good-natured one who always gets pushed around quite literally but finally has enough and finds her own inner strength and Elsa being at first the loyal mook who follows any order that she's told and only breaks them when she feels or thinks it's for the better but then teams up with Anna when she finds out her leader's real plans.
Tumblr media
• Three new characters are three grey-skinned female vampires with their own bombastic and enjoyably twisted personalities - Cherry, Elise and Athena - that just like Elsa, Rapunzel and Cass will turn around to the good side through their own means. Influenced by the Brides from Van Helsing in their winged bat forms minus the wings and less over-the-top as they were.
Tumblr media
• Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel and Cass will have the same type of armor that Cass had in Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure S3 when she fused with the Moonstone, pale skin and all while at the same time keeping the colors of their hair so said color pops - Anna's hair is brown, Elsa's hair is white, Rapunzel's hair is golden blonde and Cassandra's hair is black. Meanwhile with their armor - Anna's armor is brown, Elsa's armor is white, Rapunzel's armor is purple and Cassandra's armor is black.
Tumblr media
• The game will have a dark and intense, scary edge to it that shows us the dangers and stakes that all of the characters, especially Anna, are in and to balance out the lighter aspects. For example, when Anna accidentally ends up falling on Elsa.... Elsa devours her whole. Only for Anna to blast her way out of Elsa's stomach using something she ate way earlier and for later, Elsa puts herself back together in one.
Tumblr media
• As for the villain of the video game, the leader that I've mentioned is named Eris and is a cunning, cold-hearted and ferocious master who is later on revealed to have a code she goes by when push comes to shove while at the same time never losing her menace.
• SPOILERS: How it ends is that after going through hell and back and a larger climax than you think, Anna is reunited with her mother and sister only to find out when they're asleep that she still has her armor and that Elsa, Rapunzel, Cassandra, Cherry, Elise and Athena all followed her into her world with Elsa proposing that they use their skills for good and that her and Anna become a couple. Without any other choice, Anna's forced to agree with Elsa embracing her.
Remember, different continuity. They are not related here as they honestly should've been from the getco.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One final thing that should be interesting is without it being obvious is that every now and then there are a few easter eggs that heavily imply a retroactive shared universe and it could be in a shared universe. It's through objects that Eris collects.

Okay, so this idea comes from @prince-rowan-of-the-forest royal anaroceit au and the fact that I got new DnD books, but I'm doing a story of the sides basically DnD inspired!
Here's a description of Virgil and the stats for his character sheet, which I did make!(I didn't feel like drawing it out sorry!) All the characters are starting out on level 2. This is more like a background but hey, it's fun to write this so...
Also I rolled all his stats. I will try to get
Ships for the whole story are: anaroceit and intrulogical, but no ships as of right now(well there are some pre-established but that will come when I actually start writing this lol)
Taglist: @hyperfixated-homo @cutebisexualmess
Please tell me if you'd like to be added to the taglist!
CWs: Death, murder, fantasy racism,
Virgil Storme is a changeling, they are genderfluid and use any pronouns. She's also a rogue. Abandoned on the streets when he was just 7 years old, because his parents, who were astounding actors, were murdered by the guards. All because it was found out that they were changelings. While he wanted to get vengeance for a while, he gave up on that, realizing that if he dwells on it that's what his life would become. Not wanting that, fae decided to learn how to survive on their own. Thankfully the Shadow Guild, an underground guild in the city of Clendertin picked him up and taught him all he needed in order to survive. While he doesn't fully trust anyone after the murder of his parents, xey do thank that guild for taking dem in and in return Virgil does favors for them from time to time. Like right now, where they are to steal the Crown Prince's crown and the Royal Guard's bow. Also she has a pet mouse named Glindor who has surprisingly lived for a long time. Longer than a mouse really should, but hey, Virgil's not complaining. Glindor is cute and has brought Virgil a lot of comfort in trying times, and honestly raven would rather die than let any harm come to Glindor at all.
Whenever Virgil isn't stealing from random people in the streets he's trying to help the other orphans and urchins living down there, after all no one should have to go through the pain that void went through just to survive.
Virgil is small, just 4'8, and has an unusual name for a changeling. As most changeling's true names are one syllable. He theorizes his parents named her the way they did to throw suspicion off them being changelings. In faer true form their skin is white as snow, with white eyes to go with it. Her hair is just one purplish tint away from being as white as the rest of them.
While Virgil has multiple disguises, her favorite is that of a halfling usually with a light tan-ish skin, jet black hair, and one purple and one green eye.
The trait that always stays the same whenever they change how they look is the color of raven's eyes. The left one is always emerald green and the right one is always a bright purple. To keep from being caught as a changeling he always has one eye covered by her hair.
Virgil has a patchwork cloak that fae keep in their bag, except when they're on heists(it's very good at concealing them surprisingly). It was his father's gift from her mother, who had sewn on the patches herself.

Just a bunch of dumb thoughts about Hazel I can't get out of my head
Clothing- Hazel prefers free flowing and/or non-restrictive clothing, trying her best to keep to her tribe's aesthetic while adding her own flair. Many in the Kha tribe do not adhere to only wearing the tribe's primary color, preferring and encouraged to express themselves and their individuality as they see fit; an aspect of civilizations outside the Steppe that the Kha integrated into their own culture. Whether or not the bright red her family wore is the Kha tribe's true color or simply the one her family chose to adopt, Hazel tries her best to incorporate red into her outfits as to always keep the thought of her home close to her.
Sleeping- Hazel sleeps on her back with her hips shifted to keep her from laying on top of her own tail. It gets numb if she lays on it for too long and the feeling keeps her up at night. Once asleep she barely makes a sound, her slumber deep enough to not wake up even as a rampaging Dzo is charging through the tribe's camp. Her internal clock is very precise however, as she's always up just as dawn breaks over the horizon.
Tail- Hazel's tail is exceptionally strong, owing to the much larger than normal size of it. Despite spending much of her youth touching it herself, she still gets a jolt of electricity shoot up her spine whenever she feels another person so much as brush against it. She can also have trouble controlling its movements when overcome by too much emotion.
Some examples are:
When sad/upset, her tail droops and the tip drags along the ground.
When happy/excited, her entire tail slowly sways side to side much like a dog's would.
When embarrassed/nervous, her tail begins to wrap itself around and down her leg.
When scared/surprised, her tail begins to curl upwards.
When angry, her tail droops like she is sad except for the tip, which is slightly off the ground and flicking back and forth sporadically.
Horns- Despite having an additional, smaller pair of horns growing from her forehead Hazel's hearing is no different from the average Auri person's. This is because these smaller "oni" horns (as she's had them be called by others in Kugane) are not hollow like the ones on the side of her head. Like her tail, Hazel's horns are also sensitive to anything else touching them, which is why she avoids wearing earrings and many headpieces almost entirely. The only exception is her fur-lined hat she wears while in Ishgard.
Reading- Hazel loves to read, but until she arrived in Eorzea she always found it a challenge. Often times, even after she grew into a young adult, she would have her mother Janis double check the words in the books she read as she often got them wrong. Turns out she has a case of premature presbyopia that was never diagnosed, and after obtaining a pair of reading glasses on her journey she never goes anywhere without them on her person. This saved her so many future headaches from forcing herself to strain over the letters printed on the pages of whatever she could get her hands on to read…but it doesn't save her from reliving the embarrassment of writing her name as "Hazel Kay" by accident for months on end.
Physique- Hazel's jet black scales and larger frame than the average Auri female led to her gaining the stares of many, many other Xaela of the Steppe, both from her own tribe and others. Most of these stares she could feel came from their bewilderment as to how she looked, though a fair few had some other thoughts about her. Many an Oronir tried their hand at claiming her as their Nhaama, Hazel's greater likeness to the Dusk Mother due to her darker scales being an extremely common comparison they all made. Hazel rejected them all however, as she too preferred the Oronir interpretation of the Azim and Nhaama fable and none of the suitors that took their chance felt like how she imagined her "Azim" to be like. Someone who could match her drive for knowledge as well as her strength in combat.
Parentage- Hazel's parents are Janis and Baato Kha, of which she is their only child. The two were always members of the Kha tribe and were infatuated with one another growing up. Following Eorzean traditions Janis read of in a book detailing the Eternal Bonding ritual, the two carved bone rings to symbolize their devotion to one another. Baato is a respected and renowned hunter for the tribe, earning the title of "Stonesplitter" after cleaving a Chuluu in two with one swing from his large blade. Janis was also a hunter for a short while before becoming a shepherd for the tribe, keeping watch over half of the flock of karakul the Kha raise. Janis is also fascinated by foreign literature and novels, having quite the collection in her and Baato's yurt that grows larger with each trip out to trade with people from outside the Azim Steppe. Growing up with a veteran and elite hunter for a father and a knowledge loving and ever-seeking mother, Hazel turning out the way she did is obvious to all within moments of meeting the family.
Hair- Despite her rough and tumble appearance Hazel takes great pride in her hair. She takes extraordinary care of it, always being careful when applying her red hair dye to the ends. She dyes parts of her hair red for the same reason she tries to always wear clothing with some form of red in the outfit: to keep her family close at hand. She keeps a supply of the dye stocked at nearly all times to she's always ready to reapply it when the color begins to fade. Hazel buys this dye from Calling Wind, an alchemist she met and brefriended back in the Azim Steppe. Calling was the one who, after making a deal with the Auri woman, allowed her to travel back with him to Eorzea after she found a rare herb that grows only in the Stepp to assist in his research.

One episode I like a lot for Sasha’s arc in season 2 is The War Hammer. It not only demonstrates the consequences of pushing your friends too far for a hollow trophy, but it also establishes another flaw in Sasha’s Strength: too much determination to achieve something, even if that something won't get you far.
It reminds me of one episode of two different shows, I don't know if you have watched them by the way, Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. An example of Gravity Falls is the falling out between Stanford and Fiddleford: after the test of the portal went wrong and Fiddleford almost got trapped in another dimension, he begged Ford to destroy the machine which he refused because it was his life's work, he wasn't going to give up when he was so close to his goal. Fiddleford left anyway much to Ford’s anger as he yelled at him that he could do the rest on his own and didn't need him.
And with Steven Universe, it happens when Pearl’s desire to go to space went so far that she almost got herself and Steven killed. Their ship was falling apart and he told her “Sometimes you have to know when to bail and she made the sacrifice of throwing away that spaceship to not implode with it.
That's what got, in my opinion, Sasha’s determination so twisted. Her goal was to amplify her control: not only her friendship with Anne and Marcy but also ruling over another world. Having goals is something good but if those goals are only to feed your ego, you won't get too far or you will but you won't have achieved anything. That's why Sasha was so unsatisfied after usurping the throne in True Colors: her coup was successful -if only for a short time- but it didn't bring her any happiness as her friendship with Anne was broken as a cost and warning her about Andrias didn't work which led to a terrible fight that ended up with Marcy being stabbed. It's the opposite of the feeling she had in The Battle of The Bands, she might not have won the contest but she had fun with her friends singing Anne’s song and letting go of control.
So this isn't a bad way to read it but I do disagree, at least for the overall meaning to her arch. It's a good lesson, to listen to your friends, keep your word, etc. like that... But it's also one that clearly Sasha doesn't keep. It's not one she learns in that moment because she will break her word in True Colors still. So... Why doesn't she learn the lesson? And strap in because I'm taking this for a ride just to talk about Sasha's character as a whole.
Because she's a spoiled brat who's never been said no to. This is my reading of the character admittedly but she, WAY above Marcy, sees Amphibia as a game because for a long time, she's seen LIFE as a game. They youngest form of her we see is an angry child playing make believe knight, yelling at people way older and bigger than her and getting REWARDED for it. She is the child of divorce but rather than miserable, in Reunion she makes it clear that she can make parties at her place happen on a whim and has at least a pretty generous allowance, if not almost a blank check for whatever she wants to do so long it isn't outrageous. This to me speaks of divorced parents who both want to be the 'favorite' and thus would never push back against their princess.
Remember: Her goal, as stated at the end of the first episode we meet her in, is to turn the world RED. To play. And why not? St. James was hers to rule already as a star cheerleader with incredible influence and popularity. Teenagers were so easy, why should adults be any harder, especially when she's able to twist the toads around her finger?
She is the hero of her own story though. She makes people's lives better. They're HELPLESS without her... Which is why Reunion hurt so much. See, for all the reasons I stated that she is the queen, she also rules alone mostly. She doesn't make close connections because everyone wants something from her. There were only two people who ever wanted to be her friend without that. She sounds genuinely surprised when Anne and Marcy want to spend more time with her after all. Two genuine connections. Two queens to elevate to her position.
In Reunion, we saw the positive element of this. Beaten and facing what seemed certain death, she decided to accept it. It was better that one of her true friends live than for them both to die. In Barrel's Hammer, we see the MUCH darker side of it. She literally cannot envision the two being able to even function, let alone thrive, without her. It drives her mad. It drives her madder than she's ever been and so turning back is never an option in her mind.
And Percy and the other Toad make her pay a price for it. Just like Anne had. A second time where her game didn't play like it was supposed to. And I like that we actually get a moment to see Grime fueling Sasha's WORST parts because of who he is. It's not done maliciously but the calculus of war that Grime is playing by can often feel like a game. Like you must strip people down to simply a number on a spreadsheet.
It is also the calculus of war that leads to her discontentment during True Colors. To her, she got the neutral ending, not the good ending of an RPG. She thought she was ready for it, ready to cut away Anne so that she didn't have to keep making concessions, but on the throne of Amphibia, there's nothing to distract her from the fact that she rules... But she rules alone. That's not satisfactory to her though. She's the hero. The hero has friends by their side, and Andrias being the villain gives her the chance to be that again.
And that last attempt to bring it all together instead made it all shatter like glass. We even see shards of Sasha wanting the binary world she lived in by wanting to be able to dismiss Marcy. To not offer Marcy the same kindnesses that Anne gave her. Hell, her thinking that it's as simple as giving command to Anne to make things not complicated is another sign of those old ways of thinking continuing to plague her. To make her resist change, even as she more and more is forced to realize that if she really wants to be the hero she envisions in herself, she needs to accept change. Accept others. Accept life and stop thinking she's the protagonist in a game.
And in Barrel's Hammer, getting a legendary weapon wasn't her showing she was the chosen one like she surely saw in her mind... It merely pulled the cork that was keeping things together, draining away those who truly cared about her until she would be left high and dry.
======+++++======
Bonus note: I have seen the first episode of Steven Universe, both halves, and kind of hated the gems and thought they were insufferable to the point where I had no interest in watching more. Gravity Falls on the other hand I've seen the first episode, two or three episodes inbetween, and then the last three and actually found that viewing experience satisfying enough that I've never gone back.

Once more does she step foot on Gronder Field, encompassed by Adrestian territory. This is the second time she finds herself as a member of these crowds, axe in hand amongst a sea of distant prying eyes. Perhaps it is a test of one's strength, stakes held to a minimum compared to a real battlefield. And yet, Edelgard feels a compulsion to continue giving it her all. To do any lesser would be a disservice to her ambitions.
There are many opponents she may face, but she gravitates towards Marth in particular. She's heard of his strength— His demeanor and status as a Hero-King. To be bestowed such a thing is a grand effort, and thus, she desires to know more. Edelgard allows the bottom of her axe to grace the ground, but only slight, as she speaks, "I've caught wind of your immense prowess. I'd be eager to learn how that came to be." Tightening her grip on the axe, she makes her way forward and strikes.
Edelgard attacks Marth w/Killer Axe (Helmsplitter): 1d20+2= 13 -> 15. Crit w/Death Blow. -7. Edelgard's HP: 5/5.
Long silvery hair, a carriage suggesting immovable self-worth, daubs of purple, and a short young woman on which these things are all proudly worn- it feels to him like gazing into a mirror or stepping right through it. Just one look at her throws Marth into remembrance of the previous year. But, unlike Sara with her cruel joy and her childlike whimsy, the one known as Edelgard comes to him with the severe and unsmiling expression of a leader; a princess who must offer up a fine showing in the name of her house, people, and empire, for victory in not just one woman's stead alone.
It is easy to see why she stands unflinchingly before him with an axe, why he returns that stance with a bow readied in understanding, a partial reflection of that duty. The crown Edelgard readies herself to wear is one whose weight Marth knows well. But that aside, they call this the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, and by his long-standing lion allegiance, there is some fateful role he honors in that. In proving the white-eagle's first opponent... or first prey.
The shadow of her axe falls over him, much too quickly to squeeze out a word. His pale knuckles tighten around a bow, raising a slender arch of wood in defense, not really for any actual expectation that it will hold but for plain instinct alone, as the Hero-King is a swordsman first and foremost. And so, even predictably so, the bow gives like a twig, like any sane material that would do the same, snapping rather than bending and daring to contest the weight of so vicious a blow.
He staggers back as Gronder Field spins on a wheel of colors- black uniforms, green grass, blue-red-yellow banners. Arriving to his senses pulls the waiting princess into view, no longer inclined to continue past a single strike. The shattered debris of her assault sat around him in the dozen pieces of a broken bow and then some, the remainder tossed aside from his hand; with no possibility of subversion, the lack of a weapon spells only certain defeat, then a bashful smile on the Hero-King's part.
"Your own prowess goes understated by far, Edelgard. I can see you are one who holds nothing back." Such a petite form and long sleeves concealed within them an illusive measure of strength. Were it a true battle with capacity for loss- human casualty- it would be an observation alerted to every ally within his range. He straightens with an admiration yet to dissolve. "Forgive me, that I could not honor your expectations. It seems I still have much to learn. You brought your strengths, clear and polished, to this battle, and here I stood before you with a bow!"
A shake of the head, and the friendliness remains, but some part of his levity clears; like the soft lichen scraped off a rock face, the pride maintained by one who calls himself king, and of course, a lion, meets her sights beneath the shroud of defeat with unbreakable resilience. "It would be my honor to face you with a sword next time. Until then- this battle is continued by my allies. They will not lose to you."

THE GLITTERING GOLD PALACE OF ASGARD STOOD proudly while surrounded by luscious greenery and beautiful architecture. Asgard was revered as one of the most beautiful realms in the universe and that was a fact. Asgard is home to a race of people called Asgardians. Asgardians have thrived off of the riches their wonderfully advanced home possesses. Their lives are compared to those of Gods and Goddesses which is most likely why Midgardians believe them to be so. However, that could also be due to the fact that they have immense strength, the ability to use magic and can live incredibly long lives.
Asgard is ruled over by a family of royalty. The royal family of Asgard is admired in their world for the way they safeguard their people. Asgard, one out of the nine realms, is ruled over by the fearsome King Odin and his wife, the gorgeous Queen Frigga. The King and Queen have three children who help keep the nine realms in order.
The eldest child and first son, who is next in line for the throne, is the arrogant Thor; God of Thunder. With shoulder-length golden locks, dazzling, bright blue eyes and a charming smile, Thor was undoubtedly a man of blunt force and strength. He was known for his drunken stupors and late night gatherings in the palace that kept all of Asgard awake. He was a very compulsive man who never asked questions before he acted which resulted in some difficult situations where he usually had to fight his way out. However, Thor is the chosen son, and he did not believe that his behavior was that any less than how a true proud prince would act.
The middle child and second son was the reserved Loki; God of Mischief. Despite his brother's beaming appearance, bright eyes and light colored hair, Loki looked to be the complete opposite. He had dark obsidian hair, that contradict that of the rest of his family, and narrow dark green eyes. Unlike his brother, Loki was not a very social person and tended to spend his time in the palace library reading or with his mother and sister practicing Seiðr. He lived up to his name as the God of Mischief by causing trouble through the tricks he would play on others.
The youngest child and only daughter was the innocent Delphia; Goddess of Virtue. Delphia was a girl who loved to socialize at her oldest brother's parties while also indulging herself in the extensive library with her other brother. However, despite her knack for interacting with others, her mother and father looked after her every waking moment. She had always been a girl of curiosity from a young age and because of that, her parents feared she would get hurt. If she was not within her own chambers then she was being watched by either her parents or the guards of their palace. Delphia was not like any other being on Asgard. She held an immeasurable amount of power that no other Asgardian possessed. For that, she was under constant surveillance. Even though under constant surveillance someone may feel trapped, Delphia didn't look at the downside of it, as she always looked on the bright side of every situation.
At the moment, Delphia sat perched on a stone bench in the courtyard of the magnificent palace. She hummed to herself as she wove a crown of flowers in her hand. It was made of different types of flowers that varied in sizes and colors. It was quite a spectacle to watch her handiwork as she made it look like childsplay. The blazing sun gazed down on her as she continued her work while two guards, dressed in golden armor, stood with their backs erect only a few feet from her like they usually did.
It is a normal occurrence to have at least two guards follow her around when she wandered off on her own. Her family was certain that she needed protection at all times, despite the fact that she had been trained by her father and brothers in the past and knew how to fight. She was actually quite decent when it came to fighting and could hold her own against any possible opponents. However, she didn't mind the guards. She enjoys everyone's company, even if they stood by her side silently.
Her humming halted as she smiled softly and didn't look up from her work, "I see you're back from your recent escapade."
A hearty laugh sounded from behind her, "you are never one to be snuck up on, sister."
Delphia shook her head fondly and finally halted her weaving to face her brother. Her smile nearly blinded Thor as soon as he saw it. "You cannot sneak up on a Völva, Thor! You should know that!" She giggled cheerfully, "I find it quite funny that you even think you can."
Thor's laughter boomed once again as he moved to join his sister on the stone bench. "I should remember that you seers never allow any of us to have our fun."
She scoffed at his comment that seemed to offend her, "I allow you to have your fun! I enjoy it when you throw your extravagant parties!" With that said she placed the flower crown she had been making on top of her head and continued to smile widely. The flowers rested on her head perfectly and complemented her long brown hair flawlessly.
"Yes, but I would enjoy scaring you as Loki does to me at times." Thor couldn't help but pout. His younger sister giggled childishly at his words and shook her head.
"Loki is a master of sorcery, playing tricks is his specialty."
"I find it unfair!"
"You find what unfair?" A velvety, smooth voice asked from behind the two. The two of them turned to find that it was their beautiful mother who stood behind them. With long, wavy ruby hair, porcelain-like skin and bold blue eyes, she was a vision. It was no wonder why she was the queen of Asgard.
"Thor does not appreciate Loki's tricks," Delphia giggled as her mother stood next to them. "He also does not like how he cannot sneak up on me."
Queen Frigga shook her head as she found her children's antics amusing. "I can imagine your frustrations, Thor." She couldn't help but chuckle. Her eldest son had always been one for physical strength, unlike her other children. Her youngest son always surrounded himself in books and focused on improving his skill in Seiðr. He was more focused on his intellect rather than his physic. Her only daughter was a mixture of both. She loved to socialize like Thor and was brilliant in combat, but she also loved to practice her magic and, from time to time, enjoys her solitude, like Loki. Frigga loved her children all the same, however. Despite all their differing qualities, she was proud of all three of them. "I did come out here for a reason, my children."
"You came to tell us that food will be served shortly," came Delphia's reply as she already knew why their mother had come out to fetch them.
Frigga smiled, "yes, my dear. Now come." The two younger Asgardians followed after their mother as she glided across the courtyard back inside the palace. Guards followed after them as they all started to make their way towards the dining hall. Pillars of gold surrounded them as they walked through the enormous halls of their home. Servants bowed to them respectively as they passed which they returned with kind smiles.
Hearty laughter bounced around the halls just outside the ginormous golden doors of the dining hall. Many friends, diplomats and guests of the royal family had already begun to eat the food that was presented to them. They gobbled down meats and fruits while also drowning themselves in elegant wine and strong alcohol. Stories of past adventures were tossed around the table as were jokes and gossip. It was a normal night in the Asgard palace.
When the three members of the royal family entered the busy dining hall loud cheers greeted them. Frigga bid her children farewell as she glided across the shiny floor towards her husband. Thor, after wishing his mother well, was quick to join in the laughter and bounded over to his friends where he was greeted with a large cup of ale and wide smiles.
Delphia sashayed around the room. She socialized with many of her friends, listened to stories from different warriors and started to eat some food. Soon enough she found herself sitting next to one of her best friends, Lady Sif.
"You should have joined us today for a spar!" Sif exclaimed loudly over all of the other chatter. "I had to fight the boys myself, and they posed no challenge today."
Delphia chuckled, "I'm sorry, mother wished to work with me this afternoon." She apologized as the warriors three were drawn to their conversation. "I have been having… fewer visions, recently, and mother wanted to make sure that they didn't disappear completely."
"Fewer visions?!" Volstagg asked in mock horror with his mouth full of food. "That sounds horrible! For what is a Völva without her visions?"
Fandral whacked Volstagg on the shoulder which knocked the goblet out of the red-haired man's hand, "don't joke about the Princess, Volstagg." He chastised before flashing Delphia a charming smile. Said woman rolled her eyes at the womanizer and shared an amused look with Lady Sif. It was known all over the kingdom that Fandral was the heartthrob of Asgard. Just about every woman swooned over the warrior at any time. It was also known that the man was pining after the Princess of Asgard. However, the Völva never reciprocated any emotions he had for her.
"It is strange," Hogun stated in confusion and wonder.
Delphia nodded her head with pursed lips, "yes, I would never have believed the possibility of my powers being dampened."
"If your powers have dissipated, then I suppose that means you have more time to fight with us!" Volstagg yelled happily. Delphia shook her head and gulped. She didn't want to lose her ability to see into the future. Of course, when she was younger, there were many times when her powers had scared her to the point where she wished for them to disappear. However, as time moved on, and she grew older, her powers had become apart of her and of who she is. To get rid of her powers meant getting rid of a part of her. Her powers as a seer might have proved to be a burden at times, but she had learned to carry the job as the last Völva in Asgard proudly. If she lost her powers, there would be no one else able to do it.
"As if she would spend her time fighting," a cold voice sneered. The group turned to find the second prince of Asgard standing behind his younger sister with a glare pointed towards the warriors. "If she were to lose her powers, which I doubt is a possibility, I'm positive she would not waste her time with such an activity."
"Don't be rude, Loki." Delphia gasped. She knew that her brother was not fond of Lady Sif and the warriors three, however, he tolerated them because both her and Thor were friends with them. "I would spend just as much time with you as I would with them." She turned back to the blank expressions of her friends as Loki rolled his eyes. "Don't roll your eyes, brother!"
The table chuckled with each other as Loki huffed, "I thought you were having fewer visions?"
"I am, I just know you, Loki."
---
The dinner in the palace had slowly died down as some guests left to retire to their homes. However, Thor and few other drunken Asgardians had decided to have their own small gathering and continued to drink as much as their stomachs would allow them. Delphia had grown tired and wished to retire to her chambers. She bid her brothers and friends farewell before she left the hall. As usual, two guards trailed after her as she made her way through the halls, but they were halted.
"You two may go," Frigga told them as she approached, "I can bring my daughter to her chambers." The guards bowed in understanding before marching off somewhere else. Frigga looped her arms with Delphia and began to lead her off. "Do you feel better, my dear?" The concern that laced her voice was evident.
Delphia sighed, "better than I was this afternoon." She started, "my mind is clearer than before and my body does not ache when I walk."
Frigga tightened her arm around Delphia's, "I wish that you weren't in so much pain."
"It comes with the burden of being a Völva," Delphia shrugged.
Her mother shook her head and stopped both of them from walking, "not this sort of pain, Delphia." Her daughter stared at her with confused eyes, "there haven't been many Völvas in our history, however, the ones that have existed have never experienced what is happening to you." She moved a piece of Delphia's long chestnut hair behind her ear.
"What does that mean?"
"Your visions appear to be reserving themselves and preparing for something."
Delphia paused and thought for a moment. She never thought of the lack of her vision could be caused by something like that. If anything, she believed that her powers were disappearing as she grew old, that she wasn't allowed to have them anymore and they were slowly being stripped away. "Preparing… for what, mother?"
"I do not know… but it must be for something of immeasurable importance, and I'm sorry," Frigga held Delphia's cheeks with her hands, "but I fear you will go through even more pain than you already have."
Delphia stared at the worry that was etched on her face and began to worry herself. Earlier in the day, Delphia and her mother were trying to meditate and force her into a vision. Their plan was successful, however, the vision she had was distorted. It was as if she was trapped inside of a nightmare instead of showing her the future. Once it was over, she was immediately brought to a team of healers who had to stop her seizures. It was excruciating to endure and if her powers were preparing for something far worse than what she has already been through… She didn't know how she was going to cope.
"I will be ready for it," Delphia declared after a moment of consideration, "if I am to endure such pain, then I will not fear it, but instead be ready for it. I was given the power of foresight for a reason, perhaps this is it."
Frigga smiled softly at her daughter, "you are a strong woman, Delphia. I know you will be ready for anything."
Delphia smiled at the faith her mother had in her and pulled away from her to yawn. "All of this talk of my powers has caused me to become weary, it seems." Delphia tried to jest.
Frigga chuckled and started to lead them both down the hall once again, "then I suggest we retire to our chambers."
---
The next day was just as beautiful as the day before while Asgardians went about their daily lives. Merchants opened up their shops for the day, guards stood rigidly at their posts and the royal family performed their royal duties. Delphia had just finished her meditation session with her mother and was ordered to take a break. She decided to clear her mind by taking a stroll through the courtyard in hopes that the scenery would distract her. They were unsuccessful in producing a vision for her, no matter how hard they tried. After what she and her mother spoke about the night before, Delphia was anxious to find out what her powers were preparing for.
She suspected it to be a vision itself. However, she feared that the vision was going to show her a devastating future. She didn't know if she could bare seeing it because if it was something terrible, she would want to stop it.
Delphia was a woman who valued live. To her, all forms of life were precious and everyone's life was important. If she were to even see a vision of death and destruction of so many lives, it may break her. Especially if so many of those lives were innocent beings who had so much left to do in their lives. In the past her visions have been of minuscule things such as a random conversation or of weather, not many were of death. Even if they were, they were usually of people of old age in hospital beds who passed peacefully. She hadn't seen many gruesome deaths in her life.
"Why do you look so depressed, Delphia?" Loki asked as he approached his sister from behind. He dismissed the guards with a wave of his hand which caused them to bow and headed back into the palace. He had just finished speaking with his mother about Delphia's situation and had sought her out. Loki knew that he would be able to find her in the courtyard as she spent most of her time there.
Delphia turned around and tried to give her brother a smile. "I did not realize that I looked so sad," she jested. She didn't even know that her internal feelings had been displayed on her face. She was an open book to anyone and had a hard time hiding her feelings. Which was why she was the Goddess of Virtue and not the Goddess of Deception.
Loki studied her, "you didn't answer my question." Delphia sighed and looked away. "Are you saddened by the sudden disappearance of your powers?" He had noticed that his sister had become upset ever since it was discovered that her powers appeared to be disappearing. He didn't want her to be upset but there wasn't much that he could do to help her regain her powers.
"I only fear what it could mean."
Loki shot her a confused look as he fell in step with her. They had begun to stroll along the luscious courtyard as many of their loyal servants performed their duties around them. His mind began to wonder what she could have meant by that. There was a large possibility that she feared losing her abilities because it was an enormous part of her life. However, from the tone of her voice, he felt as though that wasn't what she meant.
"Fear?"
Delphia nodded her head, "I spoke with mother last night, and she speculated what was happening with my powers." She took a shaky breath and closed her eyes briefly. "She suspects that my powers are preparing themselves for a vision that could be the most devastating one that I will ever have."
Loki hummed and considered what she said, and Delphia could feel his concern eyes burning into the side of her head. "And you fear what the vision could be?"
Delphia feared that immensely but would endure it to see what exactly it was. She wanted to know what possible horrible future was coming. However, it wasn't like she could do anything about it. She couldn't change what happened, nor could she warn anyone. She hated that part of her powers. She always felt helpless in that regard.
"Yes."
The siblings walked tensely with each other in silence as Delphia allowed Loki to take in the information. She didn't know how he was going to react to the news that she presented him. What if he made fun of her for her worries? What if he didn't think that what was happening to her wasn't as important as she thought it was? Then again, what if it really didn't mean anything?
"You have always been a strong person, Delphia." Loki finally commented after the moment of silence, and of Delphia worrying, passed. "I do not imagine you being defeated by what your powers might bring upon you."
The woman smiled brightly and latched onto her older brother's arm, "you believe so, Loki?"
"Oh, I know so!”
The two of them laughed with each other happily as they continued to walk. As long as her family had faith in her, Delphia was sure that she would face her powers head on. Whatever they would hurtle at her, she would not back down in the slightest.
Suddenly, Delphia felt a cold feeling tug at her chest as anxiety pooled in the bottom of her stomach. Her head felt as though it had been full of water and her limbs tingled.
She was having a vision.
Loki watched Delphia pause in her steps as her bright smile slipped off her face and her eyes glazed over. Her once hazel eyes became milky and as pale as a sheet while her breath hitched. Loki paused as well. It wasn't uncommon for his sister to have visions at random times instead of in her sleep or during meditations. However, he could see that this vision was different. She whimpered and Loki was at her side in an instant. He peered down at her and held her shoulders as she swayed on her feet. This was what she feared, he could tell. This is what her powers were preparing for, and he could tell that she was going to experience an unimaginable amount of pain.
He held her as she began to collapse to the ground while holding her head in pain. His eyes were wide in horror as she started to convulse and cry out. "Delphia! Calm down, Delphia! Can you hear me!" He worried over his sister as she gripped his arms tightly. He gently tried to lay her down on the grass as softly as he could. However, that proved to be a challenge as she shook violently.
She groaned. She felt as though a million needles were being shoved into her skin while someone hit her over the head with Mjolnir. She screamed, "All of those people!" She panted out as emotions and images flashed in her mind, "so many dead! The pain! All their pain! I can feel it all!"
Loki cradled her as others in the courtyard started to walk towards them in order to see what was the commotion. "Breath, Delphia!" He tried to speak softly over her cries and cradled her face between his own shaking hands. "Focus on my voice!"
It was as if she hadn't heard him as she continued to speak. "There are so many screaming!" Tears ran down her red cheeks as she sobbed loudly. Her eyes finally lost their misty color and focused on her brother as she cried even more. "I can hear their screams, Loki! They won't stop!"
"Sister, please!" Loki begged as he couldn't stand watching her like that. His own eyes started to glaze over with tears as he could only watch her convulse.
"They won't stop! They're so loud!"
"Guards! Help!" He called out desperately and looked for aid from anyone around them.
"It hurts!" She screamed which startled the servants who came to see what was happening. A group of royal guards rushed over to the members of the royal family quickly. Once they saw the Princess convulsing in the Prince's arms, they knew just where to bring her. One of the guards helped Loki lift the violently shaking girl and carried her away. They all ran through the doors of the palace in search of the nearest healer.
---
After Loki had gained help to bring his sister to the healers, Odin, Frigga, and Thor had immediately been informed about what had happened. The brothers were left to pace in the corridors while their parents were allowed to enter the healer's wing to check on Delphia. Her screams had died down slightly but every once and awhile they could hear her whimpers and cries from inside.
As soon as he arrived, Thor had demanded an explanation from Loki. Shaken slightly by the ordeal with his sister, Loki had told his older brother about what had happened. He detailed the conversation they had and the sudden vision she had been dragged into.
Now, Loki and Thor waited anxiously outside the doors leading to the room where the healers were working. It seemed that what Delphia had feared had come to pass. They could only hope that she would recover from it. They knew that she was a strong woman. There was no doubt in their minds that she would pull through the trauma. However, what affects the vision would leave on her were unknown to them.
"They have been there long enough," Thor gruffly commented in irritation. He wanted to make sure that his sister was alright. He could not do that if a door separated them.
Loki halted his brother before he could bust through the doors and possibly interrupt the healing process. "Calm down, brother," he tried to soothe. He was just as worried about Delphia as Thor, however, he was willing to be more patient than the blond man. "We must wait for them to come to us with news, we cannot barge in there while they are in the middle of healing her."
Thor clenched his jaw but complied with his brother's words. He was far beyond worried for their little sister and wanted to make sure that she was alright. For now, he would wait just like Loki suggested.
"Fine."
Meanwhile, inside the healer's room, Delphia twitched as she laid on the healing table. Multiple healers used their magic hastily as they tried to stop her thrashing. She whimpered every couple of moments. Her words were barely understandable as she continued to mutter them through her spasms.
Her mother and father watched her in concern. Frigga held onto her husband and flinched each time Delphia yelled out in pain. She hated watching her only daughter suffer like that. Whenever she had helped Delphia practice controlling her visions there had been times where Frigga witnessed her daughter in pain. However, it was never to this extent.
Odin watched with a keen eye as the healers tried desperately to calm down his daughter. Despite everyone having a hard time figuring out what she was saying, Odin grew tense as he was able to make out what she was crying about.
"The infinite six will be joined!" Her voice cracked in desperation and the fear overwhelmed each of her words. Odin had a strong feeling that he already knew what his daughter was seeing, but he didn't know what to make of it, at least, completely.
She convulsed wildly for a moment longer before the healers were finally able to calm her down. It appeared that her vision had finally ended. She was far too exhausted from what she had witnessed to do anything else as she became still.
For a moment the room was silent, far too silent. Frigga had gasped when she didn't hear or see Delphia breathing. Her chest was still and her face was completely void of any emotion. The healers also thought that the young Princess had lost her battle against her vision and had grown quiet. They failed in their task of keeping the young woman alive. The room's atmosphere grew somber and grim. It appeared that they had lost the life of their beloved Delphia.
Though it only appeared that way.
Delphia let out a sharp gasp as her back arched against the stone table she was laying on. Everyone in the room allowed themselves to relax slightly, however, they all moved hastily to ensure that she was well. The healers bustled around the room and used everything they could to make sure that the young royal was stable. She laid on the stone table with her eyes lidded as she took shaky, shallow breaths. Only after a moment did she allow her eyes to slide shut and to fall asleep.
Frigga sighed in relief as the arms of her husband tightened around her as he too was comforted by the fact that their daughter was sable. The vision she had was definitely one that involved a horrible premonition of the future. They could only hope that she would soon become conscious after a while so they could confirm that she was alright. For now, they could only watch with uneasiness as the healers continued to fuss over Delphia's unconscious body.
---
The news about the princess' wellbeing had spread quite fast throughout Asgard. As suspected, all of the Asgardians began to worry over their beloved princess. She had fallen asleep and had yet to wake up after three days. Her skin had become pale while her hair surrounded her like a dark, still ocean. She had become deathly still. The only movement that was visible was the subtle rise and fall of her chest.
Her family had waited to the best of their ability for Delphia to wake up. Odin and Frigga had each been patient with her recovery. They spent their time visiting her when they could for only a few minutes before returning to their royal duties. It wasn't that they weren't worried about their daughter, they had responsibilities to attend to, which took time away from their opportunity to check on Delphia.
Her brothers had been far more restless when compared to their parents. Loki was willing to wait and let her rest, however, he missed her every moment she was asleep. He missed getting to sit with her in the library as they enjoyed each others company silently. He missed walking around the palace courtyard with her. He even missed listening to her scolding words as she reprimanded him for his tricks.
Thor, on the other hand, had demanded that the healers try to wake her up themselves. Not only had he ignored the healer's explanations that it would only harm her further if they did that, but he also had shouted at his brother to try and help as well. He accused Loki of not wanting to help their little sister, that he didn't care whether or not she recovered fully. Of course, Loki had been offended by his remarks but allowed them to pass. Loki knew that they were all affected by Delphia's state. He couldn't fault Thor for his behavior, at least, entirely.
The brothers had made sure to avoid each other. Especially after the two had an argument over Delphia's condition. Thor had delved himself deep into his sparring with Lady Sif and the Warrior Three and worked on his combat. Loki had locked himself away in the palace library and focused on his practice with Seiðr. The brothers may have not gotten along completely before but for the past three days, they've been far more emotional than before which caused tension to blossom between them. The one thing that they were able to agree on was that they wanted Delphia to wake up. She was the glue that kept them together and, without her, their sibling bond was suffering.
On the fourth day of her comatose state, Delphia was lying on the silky, soft sheets of her bed. She had been moved into her enormous, luxurious room after the healers were certain she was in a stable condition. All they could do was make sure that she was comfortable when she actually woke up.
As normal, Asgard was bathed in the bright light of the sun which caused it to shine brightly. However, under the shimmering display of the realm, there was still a slight sense of melancholy in the air due to the fact that Princess Delphia had yet to awaken. Everyone within the godly realm had been holding bated breath in anxiety and hoped for her recovery.
At Delphia's bedside, Frigga sat on a chair while holding her daughter's hand. Frigga had just finished dealing with a few minor issues concerning a few servants that had to be attended to before she arrived at her daughter's chambers. She was fretful for the health of her youngest child and only daughter. Though she knew that Delphia will pull through as she was strong.
Standing next to his mother, Loki stared at the unmoving figure of his younger sister with his iris' swimming in anxiety. He had postponed his studies and practice for a short time in order to see his sister. Loki had decided to visit his sister to see if there was any sign of her waking up but there was still no indication of her stirring from her sleep. His entire being had been gripped by fear for the last few days as many other people. He feared she would never wake up. He feared that if she did wake up she would be permanently damaged because of her traumatic reaction to the vision she had seen. He feared what exactly she had seen.
His family had spoken on a few occasions to try and understand what Delphia's vision may have been. They obviously couldn't guess exactly what it was she had seen, however, they could only speculate that it was of something horrific. Could it be a war? If so, where was it? Who was involved? Or was it something else? Was it of Ragnarok? Had she seen the death of all of their people and the destruction of their home? Nobody was sure…
"Delphia is strong, Loki," Frigga commented as she seemingly felt the turmoil swirling within her son's mind. "She will wake up."
Loki sighed, "I know that she is. Whatever it was that she had seen is no doubt extremely traumatic."
"Yes, but all we can do is wait," Frigga commented as she brushed a lock of hair from Delphia's forehead. Loki nodded his head in agreement. The mother and son fell into an uneasy silence as they gazed on the young woman who was peacefully sleeping. The swirl of emotions, hope, and uncertainty, moved around within the both of them over the safety of Delphia.
Suddenly a sharp gasp broke the moment of silence as Delphia's eyes snapped open. Her hazel eyes were blown wide open as the bright rays from the sun blinded her for a few moments. She swallowed thickly and took in her surroundings. Loki and Frigga were at her side in an instant. They began to fuss over her as she tried to understand what was happening.
It had only taken four days, but their princess had finally woken up! The worry that was thick throughout the realm could finally be subdued as Delphia was now laying on her bed conscious. Her mother and brother had sent for a healer while they made sure that the young woman was comfortable in her bed. Many questions were shot at her like arrows that could pierce her skin and leave a gruesome mark. She may have been conscious but not enough to comprehend every word that was spoken to her. She needed a moment to collect herself. The healers noticed this and urged the royal family to be patient for Delphia to recover completely.
Of course, the family obliged (Thor did begrudgingly) and only spoke soothing words of comfort and relief. As the king and queen occasionally had to leave to attend to certain duties and Thor had some friends to see, Loki didn't leave his sister's side. Why had he not left her side? Could it be that he was just extremely worried about his sister to the point where he would not let her leave his sight? Perhaps it had to do with the fact that he was there to witness her digression into a screaming mess. The fact that his sister was screaming in agony as he held her shook him to his core. He was unable to ease her pain in the slightest. Even if he had used Seiðr to try and subdue some of the pain, his attempts would have been in vain. No matter how many times he had tried, Delphia's visions would not be affected by any sort of magic, much to Loki's dismay. He wanted to make sure that his baby sister was safe and cared for. He could not achieve that goal if she constantly had visions that caused her pain, anguish, and nightmares.
On several occasions, Delphia had to be reminded that she was finally out of her horrendous vision. There were some points in the first few hours of her waking up that Loki had to soothe her as she cried about all the death and destruction she saw. It broke his heart to see Delphia so torn up about something that had yet to happen.
---
Delphia cradled a bowl of piping hot soup in her hands as she delicately ate the food. The healers and her family had finally stopped fussing over her so much and allowed her to have some alone time. Some time had passed since she woke from the terrifying vision she had seen. She was unsure just how much time had passed as time started to blur for her. Perhaps it was a few hours? Then again she had woken up in the afternoon and now it was morning… She must have woken up a day or so ago. She could only blame her vision for causing her confusion.
She shivered at the thought of the terror she had seen and felt. The fact that she wasn't able to really tell anyone what was to happen made it all the more bitter for her. She was unable to confide in anyone about all of the people she had seen dying all over the realm. Every time she closed her eyes she could see the brightly colored six stones that shone powerfully as they seemingly taunted her. She could also clearly see the sickening smile of the Mad Titan. Oh, the future she saw… was one she wished wouldn't come to pass. For once, she wished that her vision was completely wrong and all she saw was a twisted nightmare.
Her hands trembled as her mind was consumed once again with the images of people seemingly turning into dust. She could still see their ashes drifting on the wind as they disappeared from existence. Her ears started to ring with the screams of confusion and agony as they infiltrated her thoughts and took over her being. Her breathing picked up again as her hands shook harder. She was unable to keep hold of the bowl as it slipped from her hand and clattered to the ground.
Her frail body was racked with tremors as she started to sob. Hundreds of images flashed in her mind and behind her eyelids when she desperately tried to get rid of the flashes. She was completely enamored by the images that she didn't notice Thor had come bursting through the doors of her bedroom and over to her bedside.
He was on his way to meet Lady Sif and the Warrior three when he heard screams and cries from his sister's chambers. He had instantly rushed to her room in great haste and threw open the doors to find Delphia shaking uncontrollably while she cried out. He gazed frantically at his young sister as she clutched onto her bed with strength that could rival his own.
"Delphia?" He shouted out and gripped her shoulders tightly in order to try and stop her shaking. "Calm down, sister!" He shouted over her cries and shushed her with comforting words. He hated seeing his dear sister suffering so much. "Shh, calm down." It was strange to see the mighty Thor acting so soft towards anyone. However, it was well known that Thor, like many other people, held Delphia close to his heart. Due to her being so innocent and pure, Thor had a strong belief that it was his duty as a brother and prince to shield her from the evil in the world. Though that proved to be hard when Thor was unable to protect her from her own mind and magic.
Delphia started to focus on her older brother's voice as she tried to draw herself from her mind. It proved to be a slightly harder challenge than she thought, but she managed with Thor's help. After the two made sure that Delphia was calm enough and could breathe normally, Thor instantly brought her into a hug. Delphia snuggled into Thor's chest and closed her eyes in exhaustion.
"I am alright," Delphia let a sigh after she took a deep breath. "I am sorry if I… startled you, Thor."
Thor shook his head and tried to smile softly, "you did not startle me."
Delphia shook her head and gulped, "I feel like such a burden with all of my fussing."
The fact that she thought she was a problem for anyone baffled him immensely. How could she think that she was even close to being a burden to anyone? He did admire that about his sister, however. She was far too humble for her own good! He could barely count the number of times she had put the needs of others before herself. She had done that all of her life ever since she was a child. She made it clear that she wanted everyone to be put before her. She would rather have everyone be comfortable before she was. That aspect of her also forced her to try and see the good in just about everyone.
"You aren't a burden, sister. If anything, we are all happy to help you recover!"
Delphia nodded her head as a grateful smile slowly crawled onto her face, "thank you, Thor." As she continued to smile at her brother they soon dived into a long conversation. Thor retold stories of his spars between his friends and hunts that he had gone on. Delphia loved to hear the stories of triumph and victory that Thor always told. She knew that speaking of battle and hunting made him happy and she always wanted to see him, along with anyone else, happy. Especially with the terrible visions, she always had. A thought began to creep into her mind. Her bright, fond, appreciative smile dipped into an expression of concentration. Once Thor had finished telling a hilarious story about a fight between Lady Sif and Fandral she interjected, "would you mind finding father for me?"
Thor smiled at his sister as he didn't notice her slightly troubled expression. His blue eyes crinkled in the corners due to how large his smile was as he hopped off of her silky bed. "I will find him for you." With that declaration, Thor sauntered out of the room and left Delphia by herself.
Her anxiety was getting the better of her. The devastation she saw was haunting her in the silence of her room. Oh, the screams of innocent people as they watched themselves turn to dust hurt her so much! How could she lay in her bed and do nothing as something as catastrophic as that would happen to so many people? How could she sit in her golden palace as the flesh and bone of so many people were soon to become nothing but ash?
She was consumed by her thoughts and her plans that she barely noticed the doors of her room reopen. Odin stood in the doorway along with his eldest son and could see the uneasy expression on his daughter's face. "Delphia?" Her head snapped up to look at her father. He could see the hollow look in her eyes as they lacked the spark they once held. He had a feeling that she wished to talk to him about her vision. He turned to his son, "Thor, do you mind allowing me to speak with Delphia in private?"
Thor looked between the two of them with a smile as he still hadn't seen the unsettling look that was on his sister's face. He nodded his head, "yes, father." He flashes his sister one final smile before turning away and walking down the hall, no doubt headed outside for a spar.
As soon as Thor had left the two alone, Odin walked over to Delphia's bed and sat down in the spot that Thor had sat in a few moments ago. He reached out his wrinkled hands to hold one of her own and squeezed it as he saw how haunted she seemed to be. Delphia appreciated the comfort he tried to give her but she sighed. "You seem troubled, my dear."
Delphia took a deep breath and nodded her head, "y-yes, I am."
"Tell me what is bothering you."
She sighed and looked away from her father and bit her lip, "my visions…" She wasn't able to finish her thought as her body shivered. Odin nodded his head in understanding. He knew that the future she saw was one that would haunt her for a long time. She referred to the 'infinite six' in her hysterical state a few days ago. He knew what that meant and it was something that he feared Delphia being involved with. "I am… t-terrified by what I saw…"
"Shh…" Odin hushed as he pulled Delphia into an embrace. "I can not imagine what horrors you saw, Delphia."
"I know I can not tell you what I saw, but you must believe me, father," she hesitated slightly with her next statement, "I can not stay here." Odin's eyes widened slightly at her proclamation. What did she mean that she couldn't stay? "The vision I saw father was… horrible and I saw what leads to it. I must leave…" She saw what happened. Not only the end result but also the actions that lead up to it. In order to make sure that the foretold future, that was set in stone, happened according to what she witnessed, she had to leave Asgard.
"Where would you go, my child?" Odin was slightly worried by what his daughter was trying to explain to him. As long as Delphia had lived, she never left Asgard. She was always under the supervision of either her family or a pair of guards. To think that she had to leave… Odin never wanted to imagine her even setting foot in the Bifrost.
Delphia could hear the uncertainty in her father's voice and she gripped his hand tightly. She also didn't like the thought of leaving her family behind, but she had to! "To Midgard." The silence hung in the air after she told her father the news was suffocating. She could see the opposition Odin had to her decision and she was quick to try and explain further. "Father, my vision showed me events that had to take place. I don't know everything, but I know enough to believe that I must leave and go to Midgard. It is the only explanation for what I saw!"
She saw herself on Midgard, in her vision. She looked far different from how she did at that moment and could tell that she had been through a lot. She saw an older version of herself on a flying contraption that was no doubt constructed by the Midgardians. She saw herself surrounded by so many extraordinary people who she didn't doubt would become her friends in the future. She saw herself do things that she didn't imagine herself doing now. Delphia knew that she had to leave in order to make sure that that future came to pass. She didn't want to leave her family… but she could not argue with her visions. No matter how much she wished she could…
Odin sighed, "are you certain, Delphia?"
She nodded her head firmly, "I am." Her eyes hardened in determination though there was an underlying of uncertainty that decorated her irises. "It will only be for a short time, I am sure of it." She licked her lips, "but I have to leave, father, I am sorry."
---
"Father, you can not allow her to do this!" Thor's enraged voice carried through the air sharply. He and Loki were following their father, mother, and sister as they hurried through the palace to their horses. Delphia had explained to her mother what was happening and her plans of leaving. Of course, Frigga was not happy with the thought of her daughter being on her own, but she knew not to argue with Delphia and her visions. The three of them had sought out their horses to head to the Bifrost only to run into the princes.
Despite being in somewhat of a rush, Odin was able to explain what was happening to his two sons. After he had finished his explanation, both men were opposed to the idea of their baby sister leaving their home to venture to Midgard on her own. Loki was a tad bit more understanding on why she had to do it, but he still didn't like it! Thor was beyond understanding. All his life, he and Loki were tasked with making sure that Delphia was always looked after. Now to think that they were just going to let her go on her own to a place she had never set foot in was absurd!
"This has to happen, Thor." Delphia's soft voice explained to him. Her eyes were glossy with unshed tears as she tried to get her brother to understand. "I need to leave."
Thor huffed as he didn't want to lash out at his sister as he was very agitated. He wanted to hold onto Delphia and not let her go. "Why? Because your silly visions say so!?"
"Hold your tongue, Thor!" Odin exclaimed in exasperation. He turned to his son as they reached the archway of the palace entrance. "Your sister has made her decision based on something that is out of her control!" His voice was low and held a warning, "you must respect what she is doing, even if you disagree with it."
Thor's jaw clenched as he and his father glared at each other. He turned his eyes away from Odin to look at Delphia who was being held in their mother's arms. Thor sighed in defeat and looked away. He was ashamed of his actions for yelling at them. He didn't want to see Delphia leave so suddenly… but he didn't have a say in the matter as it was Delphia's choice. Thor nodded his head mutely as he came to terms with the fact that Delphia would leave.
Delphia rushed out of her mother's arms and threw herself at Thor. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried herself into his chest. She wanted to make sure that he knew she would miss him. "I am sorry, T-Thor."
He exhaled and held onto her just as tightly, "it is alright, Delphia."
Once the two had let go, Delphia jumped to Loki and embraced him as well. "I-I will miss you both so much!"
Loki hugged her tightly, "It is alright, sister. We will see each other again." His voice was hopeful as he didn't want to think that Delphia would be stuck on Midgard for an eternity while the rest of their family stayed on Asgard.
Delphia flashed him a watery smile as she let go of him, "Yes, we will…" With that said, the princes watched as their mother, father, and sister mounted their horses and started to ride off in the direction of the Bifrost.
Loki placed a hand on Thor's shoulder in order to try and calm his older brother down. He could see the frustration radiating off of him due to their sister leaving. "She will be fine, Thor."
Thor huffed and turned to his brother with a hard stare before looking off in the direction that the rest of their family had gone, "she will." They could only continue to watch as the three royal family members continued to ride their horses further away before disappearing from their sight.
---
Three horses galloped quickly across the rainbow bridge as the sun began to set in the distance. Delphia, Odin, and Frigga all rode their own horses towards the Bifrost in order send Delphia off to Midgard. At the entrance of the Bifrost stood the ever seeing guard of the Bifrost, Heimdall. He bowed his head when the king, queen, and princess finally came to a stop in front of him and dismounted their steeds. "Your majesty," he greeted the king accordingly.
Odin nodded his head in greeting, "I suspect you know why we are here." It wasn't so much of a question but instead a statement as he already knew Heimdall knew they were coming. Heimdall could see everyone and everything in all nine realms. If someone so much as whispered in another realm, Heimdall would know exactly what they said.
He turned his gaze to the young goddess who hugged herself around her middle. He nodded his head in confirmation as his golden eyes surveyed the family. "Yes, I do." He leads them into the Bifrost and walked up to the platform where his sword could be placed. The three royal family members watched as Heimdall placed his sword into the pedestal and twisted it. Colors burst in front of them as the Bifrost was open and ready for Delphia's departure. Said girl took a deep breath and turned to her mother and father.
"I will return at a later time, until then, I will stay in Midgard."
The older Asgardians nodded their heads in understanding. Frigga was the first to pull Delphia into a tight hug as she whispered her goodbyes to her only daughter and warned her to stay safe while she resided in Midgard. Delphia promised to look after herself and to come back safe. Odin then embraced his daughter and did the same, though he was able to mask his tears unlike his wife who had started to cry.
Delphia said her final goodbyes to her parents and nodded to Heimdall in a goodbye as well. Heimdall returned the gesture with a kind smile. Delphia had known the guard her entire life as Heimdall was practically like a third brother to her. She mustered up enough courage and turned to stare at the barrage of colors that flew in front of her. Without any second thoughts, Delphia walked through the portal and allowed the Bifrost to whisk her away and towards Midgard.
---
Delphia landed with a thud on the snowy ground that chilled her to the bone. She cursed herself for not wearing something warmer as she was still dressed in a thin light blue gown with short sleeves. Though she had no idea where she would have landed on Midgard, so she couldn't have known that she would have needed to change clothing. Heimdall could have at least told where in Midgard she was going!
Cold wind whipped her brown hair back and forth as icy flakes invaded her personal space. She wrapped her arms around herself and tried to warm herself up. She surveyed her surroundings and squinted against the wind. She could barely see two inches in front of her due to the snow and darkness that surrounded her. If she didn't find some sort of shelter soon…
She could hear the sound of snow crunching under weight and an unusual humming that Delphia couldn't quite place. Blinding lights emerged from out of the thick clouds of snow which caused Delphia to shield her eyes.
Before the machine could hit the poor, clueless woman, it came to a stop only a few feet from her. Delphia strained her eyes to see the doors of the machine open as someone climbed out of the metal contraption. She had never seen anything like it before, however, it did resemble something that she had seen in the books about Midgard. She recalled them to be called ‘cars’. She knew they were a piece of technology that Midgardians had created some time ago, as Delphia had always been fascinated by what Midgardians could really create.
The man who exited the car slowly crept through the snowy scenery and walked towards the woman who tried to keep herself warm. "Hallo?" A heavily accented voice asked as he approached Delphia. She barely had enough time to register who had approached her when she froze on her spot. She didn't freeze due to the cold but instead from the glimpse of who was approaching her. As soon as she saw the narrow face of the man, she couldn't stop her eyes from glazing over as she collapsed to the ground. Before she could hit the ground, the man had quickly rushed to catch her.
He watched as the woman in his arms convulsed and whimpered under her breath. He studied her closely. She did not wear the proper attire for the frigid weather at all. She also was not speaking German, but instead English. To him, it was obvious that the mysterious woman was not from the area. Although as soon as he heard one specific word from her, his eyes widened. "Tesseract," she muttered. He made quick work of gathering the woman in his arms and placing her into his car. This mysterious woman who seemingly appeared in the middle of the road out of thin air knew something of the Tesseract, an object that he had been searching for for a long time. Perhaps she knew about it...
He climbed into the driver's seat of the car and gazed at the young woman who had finally stopped her spasm but was still unconscious. Johann Schmidt smirked as he started the car up once again and started to drive towards his destination.
He could tell that whoever this woman was that she was going to be very valuable to his search of the Tesseract.
