roger's biggest strategic mistake in the 80's was not realizing that he could've actually won the custody battle if he'd made an effort to win back nick. like okay yes rog I empathize with your self-torment over 'would anyone still care if they knew the real me?' but nick is literally right there. he does know the real you and he genuinely likes you as a person so much that in another fifteen years he's going to forgive you for all of this and be your best friend again. the power of friendship is that real and you could've used it. but did you? no. instead you wanted to wear your Rock Star with Problems sunglasses and scream
