Are you breathing? It does not need to only be during a seated ‘serious’ meditation practice. Breathe when you walk, cook, shower, fold laundry, think, sigh (and sigh often with ‘ugly’ moans. . .IT IS PROFOUNDLY HEALING!). . .breath is life and you are life. Stay with it, add in some love and kindness for yourself and you will be good to go! I love you :) This #hyperlapse video is of me moving through a yoga practice led my one of my favourite teachers, Karen Roy. I transcribed some of her words from her video, because her words deserve to be heard again. <<Mastery of the moment is when you do your best. And how you let go of the practice when it is done. What matters is how you feel in this breath, where do you feel the breath, can you look at yourself, your body and your beautiful mind with all the burdens your heart carries? Can you look at this person that is you with love and kindness? That is mastery. That is Mastery of life. And there is the challenge to trust the work, trust yourself, none of us knows where this is going or how this will end. Trust with an open heart and an open mind. But in this breath and in this moment you are okay. And that's the only moment that is real. You are all right. Breath in deeply and exhale fully. Take this moment to send love and kindness to yourself, it may be challenging to embrace the person that is you but it's needed. You are worthy of love and kindness and when you can feel that for yourself it'll be easier to feel that for other beings. My sleeping angel, best friend and sweet girl. Shantee has come forthe to lift spirits, encourage exploration, and inspire with a zen presence. Shantee demonstrates M I N D F U L N E S S in all her actions, an amazing blend of youthful play and grandmother wisdom. Like for all of us, the aging process happens, one can delay it for years yet it will happen eventually. Shantee has had a few health concerns that worried us, and although seems to be doing better, one doesn’t know when and how she will be called to return to spirit. Even now during this pandemic, we go about our days not knowing who’s health will be affected. Worry and concern is real and natural, but so is to just go with the flow day to day. I pray for Shantee’s health, harmony and peace towards the rest of her time on this planet, while I wish the same for myself and all of you. May we lift out of fear of illness and death to have open hearts that live in truth (with necessary public health/science recommendations), love and surrender. Seize the day. Yoga is not about mastering the postures so that they are beautiful and everyone applauses and everyone “OOOOHHHSSS” and “AAAHHHSSS” when they see a posture, it is not about that. It is about the ability to rise and fall with each alteration that comes. To respond in a balanced way. To continue with a willingness to try no matter what the outcome will be. Yoga is about the grace and dignity with which we accept each of these obstacles in our path or challenges as well as the humour and grace with which we accept the failure. Sometimes obstacles appear to feel overwhelming or too much for us and we think we failed, but you haven’t if you approached it with a willingness. Often we think am I not supposed to overcome these obstacles? But maybe it was to learn grace and humility and maybe the posture has the better of you and that's okay. It will only have the better of you if you let it mentally to see it as a failure. But if you see every attempt is the next success then that in itself the Mastery of it. It doesn't matter how it looks it matters how it lands on you.
