The last day of fourth year...

CW: Swearing, alluding to abuse and the war

The four friends sat in the busy courtyard, the warm early summer sun high in the sky. They had all loosened their ties and rolled up their sleeves trying to soak it up. They were enjoying their last full day of fourth year as the summer holidays were starting tomorrow. 

“So what are everyone's summer plans?” Pandora asked laying back on her arms, face in the sunlight. 

Barty and Regulus looked at each other, sharing a look. “Avoiding our parents,” they both said flatly. 

Pandora sat up quickly looking at them with a sad expression, “sorry I wasn’t thinking…” she started before being cut off by Regulus. 

“Ha, it’s alright Dora, we are just teasing,” He said kindly, desperate to not upset her even if it was the truth. 

She smiled. 

Barty snorted and looked like he didn't agree but he didn't say anything further. 

“I suppose we’ll go to the house in France for the most part” Regulus stated. “Not that it matters that much where we are, my parents will still attend all their usual meetings and social arrangments in London, Sirius isn’t allowed to go to Potter’s this year so I suppose we’ll play at happy families for a day or two until he decides he’s fed up and pisses our parents off.” Regulus rubbed his temples like he was trying to relieve the future stress he was about to endure. 

“I do love that house” Pandora exclaimed trying to move the subjects on from families. 

“I do too,” Regulus replied his eyes seeming to drift off to a memory. “You’re all coming to our summer ball right?” he asked the group. 

“I don’t think so mate” Barty sighed. 

Evan looked up from the book he’d been reading with alarm in his eyes. “What do you mean? I thought your father made a point to come to our balls? You said he thought it looked good to be mingling with our families.” He said quickly, a glimmer of desperation in his voice. 

Barty looked at him and smiled sadly. “Sorry Ev, with everything going on Dad wants the Ministry to distance themselves from anyone involved, on either side. He wrote to me the other month asking me to distance myself from you all, of course, I told him where to stick it and I haven't heard anything since, no idea what will be waiting for me at home tomorrow.” He looked like he was about to throw up. 

At once Evan lunged forward, looking like he was about to embrace Barty but hesitated and just patted him on the arm instead. “Why didn’t you say anything?” he asked. 

“Well, there was nothing to say, there's no way I’m going to stop hanging with you lots just to help his image, he doesn't deserve it. If anything it just wants me to be around you bunch of wrong’uns more” He smirked a glimmer of laughter in his voice. 

“Well in that case stay with us” Evan declared getting closer to Barty and looking at Pandora for encouragement. “Our parents love you…well they love the fact that your father is so high in the Minerstry…” He got quieter as he finished his sentence and Pandora swatted him on the arm. 

Regulus snorted at this and Barty grew a wicked smile, “Thanks for the offer Ev, but I'm not in the market to help the image of any ancient wizarding family, although it would truly rile my father up if I did, I’ll see if I can sneak out to the ball Reg, I mean it’s not like he’s ever at home to catch me anyway, it’ll be worth whatever happens when he finds out” He replied. 

Regulus smiled gently at him, and the three boys did then all embrace before Barty hit the other two on the backs of the head and they all burst out laughing. “Stop being soft, I thought you were the sons of the noblest houses in England” he teased. 

They were all still chuckling when they heard Pandora sob. They quickly turned to her to see a tear running down her face. She swiftly wiped it away but another replaced it immediately. 

Evan moved over to his sister and embraced her. “What’s up Dora? We can all still write.” He said trying to comfort her. 

But she just looked ahead at Regulus and Barty with a disturbed expression. “I just have this feeling that nothing will be the same after this summer, I feel like something awful is going to happen and nothing will be right again.” Her voice sounded sombre. 

Regulus gulped and looked at Barty. He’d known something was happening for a while now, he knew his parents had been more distant, preoccupied with things that didn't yet include him and Sirius. Something in his stomach knew that Pandora was right, after this summer his world would always be a little darker and there was nothing he could do to escape it.

i like the idea of 4th year Draco not liking the way Hermione looked at the Yule Ball. Like of course he thought she was beautiful but now everyone is just noticing and it's not fair.

"Oh my gods, did you see Granger?" Pansy asked with a hint of disgust in her voice.

"No what do you mean-" and then he saw her. Hermione Granger dancing with Viktor Crum. It looked like she had changed everything about herself tonight.

"What happened to her hair?" Draco asked Pansy. Not that he would admit it to anyone, even himself at the time but he loved Grangers big messy hair that looked like it hid her secrets.

"I don't know and I don't care. She finally looks like a girl tonight. She'll be back to normal tomorrow."

Draco watched her for the rest of the night trying to sort his feelings. He didnt understand why he was so annoyed that she looked completely different.

Wow, it's been a while 😭, I was in my first year of medical school when I last opened this app. Now, here I am going to my 4th year of medical school... School has been quite a journey, a rollercoaster to be precise😢. All the emotional breakdowns and thinking I'd lose my mind😭 but at the end of the I came out fine. Finally done with Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry 💃. Now off to pharmacology, pathology and so on... This new change seems scary but I guess exciting?

The next day in the Great Hall Jacqueline walked in and noticed the golden trio turning and staring at her. She waved and smiled at them before walking over to the Hufflepuff table and sitting next to a random girl she didn't know.

Jacqueline had friends but they were never in her own house or the friendships didn't last long. Of cource she stayed loyal but her friends never did. Not that she minded surely she was bound to meet friends who stuck around for the long road. She looked up and noticed Harry staring at her from his table. She smiled at him before looking down  and finishing her breakfast and getting prepared for her first class of the day.

What has gotten into that boy lately? She wondered as he hadn't even noticed her before there adventours night from the previous day.

The day went by in a daze as Jacqueline went to her last class of the day which happened to be charms. It was weird for Harry to just suddenly notice her but it felt nice. I mean technically it was sudden as the pair have had classes and talked to each other throughout there years at Hogwarts. This was there 6th year after all so it only makes sense he's been bound to have seen her before.

"Hello students today were continuing the Bubble Head Charm!" Professor Flitwick exclaimed happily

"Remember to go find a partner" he added on as he hopped down from his book stack to help students in need

Jacqueline sat there for a moment thinking about who she could ask to be partners with.

"Would you like to be my partner?" Harry asked as he sat down next to the girl smiling

"Yeah that would be nice actually" she responded with a comfortable smile

The pair got to work and the first person to successfully cast the charm was Jacqueline which came as a shock to many. Usually Hermoine would be the one to cast charms first.

"Brilliant Ms. Williams 10 points to Hufflepuff" Proffessor Flitwick exclaimed smiling

"Your bloody brilliant you know" Harry leaned over whispering to her repeating the words he has told her less that twenty four hours ago

She smiled and thanked the boy as class ended. She grabbed her bag waving goodbye before exiting heading back to her dorm so she could get some rest and head to the Astronomy Tower again.

Jacqueline went almost every night, and as she lay down on her bed, she hoped Harry would be there again as well. He always brought a smile to her face.

Three hours go by and the girl wakes up and quickly brushes her hair before heading down to the Great Hall. She sat down at the Hufflepuff table where she always sat. A letter with her name on it rested gently as she sat down.

"Dear Pretty Girl,

I hope I can see you again tonight? I kind of have an idea so if you deside to arrive at the Astronomy Tower try and wear a nice dress or suit of preference!

P.s Look up" Jacqueline read silently to herself smiling softly

As she skimmed and read the letter she looked up to see Harry smiling at her. She smiled back giving him a thumbs up and his smile got wider as he turned to his friends and started chatting away.

The girl grabbed some food and ate quickly before exiting to get ready.

She put on a simple green silky dress which was floor length and had a sweetheart neckline. It was strapless and looked very elegant on the girl.  She waited a few hours before making her way to the tower.

She was quite excited to see what the boy meant and only hoped it wasn't a prank.

As she made her way up the stairs she could hear classical music playing.

She made her way to the top and there stood Harry holding out his hand in nice robes like the ones he wore to the 4th year Yule Ball.

"Care to dance Jacqueline?" he asked as he looked at the girl

"Why I do belive a dance would be lovely" she responded with a laugh taking a hold of his hand and getting into a waltz position.

Harry wasn't the best dancer but he had improved sense the last time and she quite enjoyed her time dancing the night away under the stars.

Two hours went by and the pair finally stopped as they were getting tired.

"Always full of surprises aren't we Mr. Potter" Jacqueline said with a smile

"Yeah I suppose so but I guess you can also say this is our first official date?" he asked sheepishly with a sly smile

"Yes I do suppose so and it was quite lovely" Jacqueline responded smiling

She thought she would freak out more but she didn't. She was calm and just enjoying the moment for once. It was different when she was around him. She didn't feel as things were being rushed as she had practically know Harry for six years. However she hadnt spoken to him and made the effort to be friends for said six years but it didn't seem to matter.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" Harry asked

"Pick me up at Hogsmeade around 1 pm and it'll be a date" Jacqueline said boldy before leaving

"See you then Jacqueline!" He responded happily

She walked back with a smile as Harry cleaned up the tower. The night was more magical then she could have ever imagined in her wildest dreams.
