college student!tendou who kinda has a reputation for being really hard to get. like yeah he's odd, but girls hit on him a lot despite that. in fact, you think that they do it because of that. but yeah, satori is popular beyond belief, with a reputation for turing down just about every person that propositions him. so it's a bit of a shock when he approaches you first.

at first it's friendly. you're pulled into his orbit as easily as anyone else is, falling victim to the precise feeling of his vision and the way he talks. you like being around him and while you'll admit that he's attractive, that's really all it is. besides, you're not exactly interested in a guy who knows what sort of reputation he has, hard to get or not.

"hey," he chimes from the couch beside you.

the small party goes on around you both, sat on the couch with your drinks in hand. both of you are deep in a slouch, the tips of your knees just barely touching.

"yeah?" you tilt your head, raising an eyebrow.

"wanna hook up?" he asks, sipping his drink and looking over the rim of his cup at you with knowing eyes.

"the hell did you just say to me?" you snort in near disbelief.

"i asked if you wanted to hook up," satori clarifies in a needlessly annunciated tone.

you squint at him for a moment, trying to figure out what his angle is. as far as you know, satori's never been so forward with anyone and if he just wanted a quick fuck, he'd have his pick of the litter in a very real sense. he eyes you for a moment as if he can tell what you're thinking and you struggle to figure out if he's joking on not. you settle on the former.

"and what about your reputation, mr. hard-to-get?" you laugh a little, leaning forward and aiming to project a confidence in yourself.

satori leans forward with his elbows on his knees. his lips curl into a mischievous smile and his fingers hold the cup between his hands so gingerly that it seems he might drop it. he angles his head up so that he's eye-level with you, his adam's apple bobbing heavily as he swallows.

"reputation?" he smirks, "id give up my whole fucking career if it meant getting some tail from you."

you blink at him and for a moment he just looks at you, that sly cat's grin smooth on his lips. then, he leans back with a shrug.

"think it over."

you don't really need to.

Speculative evolution side of tumblr I’m in need of your constructive criticism! I tried to speculate some dragons based on synapsids instead of more “regular” reptiles. But do they make any sense???? Pls halp! They’re loosly based on gorgonopsyds but I gave them wings in convergent evolution with the pterosaurs. I guess they shouldn’t be able to fly without air sacs in their body and hollow bones so I’m also guessing they conveniently evolved those as well.

I’m not entirely sure about the horns in general, because I don’t know wether or not they would make sense (I thought maybe could be an adaptation to protect the nose from cold winds and grew to be a communication display? Idk idk anything!). Should they actually be more scaly? More horned? I already know I’ll try with manes, cuz they might look nice in them!

Another thing that looks weird to me are the Feets. I can’t place myself where they look wrong. Please feel free to give me a heads up! I tried with a semi-plantigrade stance and took inspo from thylacines but clearly it ain’t it. (is it even a thing actually?) For the marine dragon I went with sturdier constitution and small wings, for water propelling (should they be even smaller???) and big, hollow horns for (possible?) echolocation. Strong limbs to climb cliffsides and find nice safe spots to nest and from where to dive for food. (on this note... would these dragons lay eggs or... what???)

Let me know what you think about it, I’ll be more than happy to discuss these very incomplete stages of speculation!

Help me! Indians and/or James Potter lovers help me out!!

im a big fan of Desi James and i'm writing a fic at the moment and i want to include affectionate language (pet names) from all of my characters national languages and have been digging for some Hindi terms of endearment for a while and am a little lost.

a lot of the searches are coming up with words but not specifying which Indian language it derives from, and I just don't want to like mix languages and be stupid and inconsiderate about it.

anyway, so far i have "Jaan" or "Meri Jaan" which I understand means "life" or "my life" wich is fucking adorable, as well as "Mera Pyaar" (I've seen a couple of different spelling variations of this so please correct me if it's wrong) which i understand means "my love".

both are very very sweet, and i will be using them! however, i've been looking for terms more like "sweetheart", "pretty", "cutie", "handsome", "baby", and stuff like that. you know, terms that can be used a bit more casually, in the earlier stages of dating / sleeping together, before the love and devotion happens!

anyway, any help would be very appreciated. any terms of endearment you know, any extra information you can give me, anything at all that relates to Desi James that would be helpful for me to know is so appreciated!

also any headcannons you have about Desi James would be awesome! especially ones that like involve his culture and stuff like that. id really like to write him well and give authenticity to his character that i don't naturally just have. i am doing my research where i need too, of course, but if you have little things about him that i could simply just adopt or learn about would be so awesome because like, i wouldn't even know to search for a lot of little things i bet.

edit: if he were to say "star" or "starlight" or "starshine" or "pretty star" something about stars to someone as a term of endearment (or just affectionately) how would that be said / spelt? i hopped on google but there are so many translations and i don't know which would be correct in this context and im helpless! thank youuuuuuuuuuuu <3

God damn I'm soooo happy with how this turned out! Especially after how much trouble Jazz's pose was to draw. Seriously Vlads pose came together so easily and I struggled for hours to draw Jazz. I have no idea why.

So I didn't really change Vlad and Jazz's designs for this au (except Jazz's bag) but I've been thinking about it a lot and decided to tweak their part in the story a little bit. Mostly I just want to keep Jazz and Vlad together instead of them joining the main trio separately. Yeah, so no more slave traders in this update.

Okay, so to outline their backstory. Vlad was born into a wealthy family and went to a very prestigious boarding school where he met Jack Fenton. Unlike Jack, who was very gung-ho about joining the hunters and slaying supernaturals, Vlad was more apathetic about the entire situation. Until an incident at the school led to Vlad being rescued by a supernatural.

Jack meets Maddie at the hunter academy. They fall in love, get married, (Vlad is Jack's best man at the wedding), and have their only daughter Jazz. (I should also mention Vlad is her Godfather in this au.) While Jack and Maddie are steadily rising through the hunters ranks and their missions take them far and long from home, Vlad pulls triple duty. Volunteering as an informant (now officially titled Advisors) in order to feed false information to the hunters, aiding supernaturals in crossing the border into the neighboring kingdom, and looking after his goddaughter.

Which means bailing her out of trouble with the hunters because she's an outspoken activist and supernatural sympathizer. Jazz is lucky her parents have such a high standing in the hunters organization and that Vlad is wealthy enough to bribe her out of trouble. Unfortunately, as the story goes, her luck (and Vlads) runs out.

Vlad is attacked by a panicked vampire, not realizing he wasn't a threat to her, and is turned. He tries to go about his days as usual. Trying to deal with the bloodlust on his lonesome (without his sire to guide him). He does everything he can to stave off his hunger. Feeding on small animals, biting his own hands; it helps, but only just.

Until finally, he goes too long in the day without a drop to keep himself sane. Nearly attacking Jazz, he is only just stops himself. A testament to his impeccable self control. Unfortunately Jack and Maddie had returned home (with a sizable hunter escort) at just the absolute worst moment, and see Vlad in his feral state. The hunters attack. Vlad fends them off as best as he's able, but he's outnumbered.

During the struggle Jazz tries to defend Vlad. Arguing with her parents, trying to get them to see the Vlad is not a monster. He's still their friend. In an adrenaline filled moment she attacks one of the hunters with whatever posh hallway decoration she can get her hands on. And with that her luck has finally run out.

Her parents high status can no longer save her from punishment. Normally she would've been hanged for treason however, Jazz and Vlad aren't the only supernatural sympathizers in this world. The hunters are losing favor with the public. Jazz and Vlad may just be their ticket to regaining it.

As in the original version of this the hunters enlist Freakshow and his circus to transport Vlad to the capital. Their instructions are to starve him completely so the he'll be absolutely monstrous and deadly. Their plan is to feed Jazz to him before sentencing him to death and hoping it will be enough to quell any further misgivings the public may have about the hunters and why they hunt.

Don't worry, Vlad and Jazz will be saved. Unfortunately not before Vlads feral appearance does exactly what the hunters want it to.

Question for railway enthusiasts and Thomas fans. I want to make an accurate model of him, but I'm undecided on what I want to keep and add. For instance, I love the westhousing pump detail on the original E2s, but you can't have his splashers and the pump, as they'd get in the way.

The fact that his splashers are purely cosmetic is vexing in itself, and it sucks because the Westinghouse pump actually serves a purpose (and the sound they make adds such character). But those splashers are iconic now, so removing them makes me worry he wouldn't really be Thomas anymore.

Maybe going with the level running board from the books would allow for splashers and pumps? But the swooping running board is ALSO iconic.

The same can be said for the scale of him too. I can go with a cut down, teeny E2 as you see him in the books/show, or he could be full sized. The full size of the E2 doesn't feel like it lends to the narrative of a 'little tank engine' however (unless tender engines like Gordon deem anything without a tender as 'small' regardless of their actual height). I think I would rather just headcanon him as a custom built E2 for shunting in cramped quarters, like a yard or workshop.

Anyway, I'm at a loss. So here's a poll. Should Thomas have Westhousing pumps, or splashers, or somehow both? And if both, how? Please leave a comment with ideas! And, additionally, would you go with the level running board, or swooping one?

A fun little interactive thing for FFTD for those interested in helping my tired brain!!

So my brain is briefly struggling with ideas for some extra installments for FFTD to put between some other important upcoming moments and smut (I have smut planned already, that isn't a problem 😆). After writing YBGSLB my brain dried up a bit. I like getting interactive and sometimes myself I'll come up with title names and figure out a piece from there, but I have always wanted to ask readers to throw me title suggestions to see if I can write something based off of that alone!

If anyone wants to participate feel free to drop a comment or message with a title suggestion! Or let me know if there's a better way for me to do this 😅 All I ask is for a title name with no context with 'The' preceding the title like all the others have (so like "The Leather Couch" for example). I thought it might be fun and challenging and help kickstart my brain. And I'm curious how many might even participate and what you'd come up with! The Never-Ending Story (AKA Tabula Rasa).
