One amusing thing about the time Dick lived in Chicago with roommates was how Joey, Dick’s roommate, fucked up Dick's access back into the apartment after he finished patrol.

DCAU Batgirl Reading List
Tumblr media
The DC Animated Universe or DCAU refers to the shared continuity that began with Batman: The Animated Series. The DCAU spawned a number of tie-in comics that were critically acclaimed in their own right, beginning with Batman Adventures in 1992.
Essential Reading
Batman Adventures (1992-1995) #12, 18, 26
Batman and Robin Adventures (1995-1997) #9, 21
Batgirl Adventures (1998)
Batman: Gotham Adventures (1998-2003) #8-9, 22, 38-39, 60
Superman Adventures #25 (1998)
Batman Adventures vol. 2 #7 (2003)
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two #3 (2021)
Complete Appearances
Batman Adventures (1992-1995) #12, 18, 26
Issue #12 was actually published before Barbara became Batgirl on the show, and features a different origin that’s closer to the silver age comics.
Batman Adventures Holiday Special (1995)
Batman and Robin Adventures (1995-1997) #9, 21
The Batman and Robin Adventures: SubZero (1998)
Batman Adventures: The Lost Years (1998) #1-2, 4-5
Depicts the time between the original Batman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures. The main focus is on Dick’s evolution from Robin to Nightwing, but it's also important for Barbara’s development.
Batgirl Adventures (1998)
Batman: Gotham Adventures (1998-2003) #1-3, 5-6, 8-9, 14-16, 18-22, 24, 26-27, 31-32, 34, 38-39, 41, 44, 46-47, 50-51, 55, 57, 60
Superman Adventures #25 (1998)
Gotham Girls (2002-2003) #1-5

Batman Beyond vol. 2 #13 (2000)
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2001)
Note: I’ve excluded the later Batman Beyond comics as they’re set on the ambiguous “Earth 12″
Batman/Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles Adventures (2016-2017) #2-6
Batman: The Adventures Continue (2020) #2, 3, 5, 7
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two (2021) #1, 3, 5-7

CASSANDRA CAIN READING GUIDE
We made you a warrior. You made yourself a hero.
Cassandra Cain is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Sandra Wu-San, and was raised by Cain. Her childhood training made her an expert hand-to-hand combatant with the ability to read body language to the point of interpreting complex thoughts, but also left her nonverbal, illiterate, and with limited social skills. Cassandra experienced her first kill when she was eight, and seeing the pain and fear the man felt as he died made her realize what she did was wrong and run away from her father. Years later, Cassandra came to Gotham, and during the events of No Man's Land became Batgirl with Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon's approval.

Up to date with the trends, if you don’t mind!
Tumblr media
As opposed to some people, I'm not of the opinion that Dick Grayson is a fashion disaster. I don't imagine I will convince anyone who loves to portray him as the eternal looser... But the thing with fashion is that a lot of it quickly gets dated. Since artists have drawn Dick in contemporary style for decades, it's bound to happen that some outfits get past their best before date.
Tumblr media
If we're to put the blame where it belongs, it has to be Greg Land, who drew Dick in a multicoloured polka dot shirt in Nightwing vol 1 # 2. That's the outfit most people reference when they claim that Dick dresses outlandishly. However, in the 90s, polka dot shirts (and long hair on men) were trendy – which is something that we tend to forget some decades later, when another era of fashion surrounds us.
Tumblr media
The original Nightwing suit from 1984 also gets a fair amount of flak. Certain artists, like Jim Aparo, drew the collar ridiculously high, unlike how it looked with George Pérez’ art. But on the whole, it's not in a completely different style from other superhero suits that were introduced in the 70s and 80s. High collars and deep v-necks were popular.
Tales of the Teen Titans # 44, Batman vol 1 # 441.
Tumblr media
Tyroc (1976); Black Lightning (1977); Dazzler (1980); Jericho (1984).
Tumblr media
Gladiator (1977), Black Cat (1979), Atari Force (1982), Mockingbird (1980), Booster Gold (1986).
Fashion at the time was about crossovers and breaking rules, and using fabrics such as rubber and vinyl. And disco...  Here are some pictures from the 70s and 80s, to remind ourselves what it looked like at the time.
Tumblr media
I guess some people might point the finger at the original Robin suit, too? But, seriously, it's a 1940s child superhero costume, designed at a time when the printing process favoured bright primary colours. (Besides, in a fair number of versions, Bruce is the one who designed the Robin suit. Now, if we want to talk ridiculous – take a look at Bob Kane's original sketch of the Bat-Man.)
Without further ado. Let's have a look at some of Dick's outfits over the years, and see what was considered stylish at the time, shall we.
Tumblr media
Dick in civilan garbs in the 1940s and 1950s. The boy's fashion at the time included knitted pullovers and sweaters which were also worn over shirt and tie. Bright solid or patterned sportcoats were worn with dress-shirt and necktie or bowtie. (Knickers, that is short trousers, were, by the way, children's fashion in the 1940s.)
Pictures are fashion illustrations from the 40s and 50s and from Batman # 13 (1942). Star Spangled Comics # 65 (1947), # 75 (1947), # 98 (1949), # 111 (1950).
Tumblr media
College teenager Dick in the 1970s dressed in sweaters, vests, long collared shirts. His hair was side-parted. And, you guessed it – vests, long collared shirts and turtleneck sweaters were essential fashion items of the 1970s. Dick-pics from: Batman # 248 (1973). Batman Family # 8 (1976). Detective Comics # 483 (1979). Detective Comics  # 495 (1980).
Tumblr media
Dick in a green three piece suit in New Teen Titans Vol 1 # 26 (1982). Picture in Sears Fashion Catalogue 1981. 1980s vintage tweed suit.
Tumblr media
Leather jacket, t-shirts and sweaters and jeans were trendy in the 1980s. In Tales of the teen titans 43 (1984), Dick wears jeans and an expensive leather jacket.
Tumblr media
"That" outfit in Nightwing vol 1 # 2 (1995). "Seinfeld" from 1991.
Tumblr media
Overalls were huge in the 1990s, even when you weren't custom building your own car. Nightwing vol 2 # 16 (1998), and fashion photos from the 1990s.
Tumblr media
In the early 2000s, casual clothing was a big trend. Rugby shirts was a common look, and the leather jacket was still popular. Batman: Gotham Knights # 21 (2001), # 45 (2003), Nightwing vol 2 # 49 (2000), #77 (2003), # 80 (2003).
Tumblr media
In the mid-2000s, some trendy things were: Casual, fitted shirt. Casual blazer. Cardigan. V-neck t-shirt. Trucker hat. Tank top. Nightwing vol 2 # 133 (2007), # 141 and # 144 (2008). Fashion photos from 2008, design Diesel, Tony Melillo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In The New 52 and Rebirth, Dick has mostly dressed casually (unless it's for a funeral, of course). Jeans, t-shirts, shirt without tie, sweaters, hoodie, parka, blazer or leather jacket. Often layer on layer - sweater over shirt, shirt on top of t-shirt...  The 2010s wasn't long ago, and it's not easy to sort through fashion shows and micro-trends and see a bigger picture just yet... But a few of the things that were trendy at least at some time during the 2010s were: the colour grey; one-button suits and blazers; striped sweater; checkered shirt; fitted leather jackets; parka; pastel colours; angular v-neck.
Nightwing vol 3 # 5 (2012), # 6 (2012), # 10 (2012), # 17 (2013),  # 27 (2014). Nightwing vol 4 # 10 (2017), # 15 (2017). Assorted fashion photos from 2012–2017.
Tumblr media
Today it's 2020, and when it comes to men's hairstyles, crew cut is popular. Nightwing vol 4 # 63, and photo from TheTrendSpotter's post 40 Best Short Hairstyles for Men in 2020.
Tumblr media
And hey, superhero apparel were on the catwalk in the 2010s, too. How more fashion forward can Dick Grayson become...? Misel Saban, June 27, 2014 (Batman) and Sarah Dos Santos, December 16, 2013 (Superman); Kyle Towers, February 2, 2013 (Spiderman).
However, I don't see Dick (written) as interested in keeping up with the fashion. But he did live his first years in a small trailer. And since then, he's been accustomed to a life where you never know when your home is going to be obliterated, or your foster father will kick you out. Or when you have to rush away to follow a lead in another city or save the world somewhere. Or the next time you'll be shot and forget that you have a flat to live in... He’s bound to have learned not to have an excessive amount of clothes.
Tumblr media
When he does need to buy something, because his last outfit went up in smoke or something, he'll simply pick from what's in the front inside the shops. Hence, he'll often be dressed up-to-date. New Titans # 76, New Titans # 86, Nightwing vol 2 # 89, Nightwing vol 2 # 20, Nigtwing vol 3 # 19, Nightwing vol 4 # 50 , Robin Year One # 3.
Top pictures from: Batman # 237 (1971), New Teen Titans # 16 (1982), Nightwing vol 2 # 129 (2007), Nightwing vol 4 # 10 (2016).

Batman: Where to start
***long post***
Getting in to comics is rather hard and finding a good starting place or a good recommended must-reads is hard and confusing and you typically get hundreds of different answers.
This is my personal list, that I'm working through and hope to collect. I've done quite a bit of research and feel like this is a adequate reading list for modern (post-crisis) Bruce Wayne
Anyways here's the list in primary chronological order:
Batman: Year One (Batman Vol 1 #404-#407)
This story line established the back story for Batman in the post-crisis timeline, along with the back stories for Commissioner Gordon and Selina Kyle. Not necessarily canon anymore, but a good story to get the feel of the characters
Batman: The Man Who Laughs
This is a one shot that was published in 2005 that tells the story of Batman's first encounter with the Joker roughly a year after the Batman's debut in Gotham. Based on the Joker's original first appearance in Batman Vol 1 #1.
Batman and the Monster Men
This is a 6 part mini series that takes place sometime after Batman: Year One and Batman: The Man Who Laughs. First half of the Dark Moon Rising series. Story revolves around Batman's first dealing with Hugo Strange

This is a collection of 3 Batman one shots: Son of the Demon, Bride of the Demon, and Birth of the Demon. All stories center around Ra's al Ghul and Talia al Ghul.

Hello! How are you? I've got two questions. Are you from Argentina? (Porque esa frase de las empanadas sonó muy de acá SJNDD)
And, could you recommend comics where Jason is well written? I want to know him better, but people always recommend me RHATO and I'm not a fan of that
Thank you ❤️
Holissss! Todo tranqui, vos? Nop, yo soy uruguaya! La frase de las empanadas te juro que la tenia guardada para usarla en un post de Jason y Nick Robles me dio la oportunidad perfecta!
Oof, they have recommended you RHatO? I hope it was RHatO Rebirth at the very least… If I were you, I will completely avoid RHatO New 52, that run was extra bad and in the end if you have read the Rebirth version already, you have officially suffered enough.
Now, if you have read New 52 RHatO then I am sorry… but I will suggest also avoiding Red Hood/ Arsenal, the pain isn’t worth it.
The books or issues where I think Jason has been really well written are the following:
As Robin:
Batman vol.1 #408 to #425 and Detective Comics #568 to #582. (#408 was the issue in which Jason’s origin was changed post-crisis, I would recommend reading from there)
Batman: the Cult, I have heard great things about this story but I haven’t read it yet! Comics from the 80s have never been easy for me to read.
Batman: A Death in the Family, the story that killed our sweet Jason, but it is important to read it because it shows how Jason really died.
New Teen Titans vol.2 #18 to #21 and #26 to 31, Jason teams up with the Titans two separate times, the first time he has some amazing moments with Donna and in the second one he is also amazing and he has some interactions with Dick!
Superman vol.1 Annual #11, this is the issue where he first meets Diana and he saves the day (mostly) by himself!
As Red Hood:
Batman: Under the Red Hood, this is the best work that has Jason as Red Hood, and this is his (actually) big come back to comics.
Batman vol.1 Annual #25, if you want to know how Jason came back to life.
Green Arrow vol.3 #69 to #72, if you want to see Jason after the events of Under the Red Hood!
Outsiders vol.3 #44 to #46, if you want to see more of Jason after UtRH and actually well written interactions with Dick after all that… (Only read Nightwing: Brothers in Blood if you are prepared for some absolute garbage writing with little funny bits)
Red Hood: Lost Days, essential reading if you want to see how Jason came to be the Red Hood!
(All of these books/issues (except for Brothers in Blood) were written by the best Jason writer to this date, Judd Winick!)
Now is where we enter Rebirth (no New 52 books will be recommended in this house when it comes to Jason)
Red Hood and the Outlaws vol.2 #1 to #26
Red Hood: Outlaw vol.1 #27 to #52
(I put these in the list so you don’t feel lost, and this is the best that we have had of Jason up until…)
What the Hell is Task Force Z, Detective Comics #1041 to #1043, this is a side story in these Detective Comics issues, that act as a prelude to the upcoming comic run, Task Force Z, where Jason is going to be leading a team of undead villains. These issues as well as the upcoming run is written by Matthew Rosenberg! (Someone that has written an actually funny and competent Jason Todd in this day and age!)
Task Force Z, it hasn’t come out yet but I am already recommending it, I do believe this book will be well written! Let’s just hope I am right!
-
That would be all, at least everything that I remember right now…
Oh! I have some posts about some of these books/issues, if you want me to link them, tell me in the asks and I will do it!
Espero que tangas un excelente finde!

Poison Ivy Reading List
Tumblr media
Since I’ve been revisiting as well as playing catchup on more comics with Poison Ivy, I organized issues and books I own chronologically by publication date from 1966 thru 2019 now. These titles are not an extensive guide to every appearance (from a cameo to full series) of Poison Ivy in comics or, necessarily focusing on any one aspect of her character. (In fact I know there are a few gaps for various reasons.) One of these days I should put together a favourite appearances list. I always like to hear what other people have or are reading too. Hopefully starting another decade it will be exciting what new chapters will be written in this character’s history. (Picture above is from Harleen #3 by  Stjepan Šejić.)
