Hey Jade! I was wondering if you could do some Derek Morgan comfort?! Maybe reader who deals with headaches/migraines?
Hope you're having a nice day/night!!💛
thanks lovely, you too!
You're pinching the bridge of your nose pointlessly when Derek and Spencer arrive that morning.
“D'you guys do a coffee run?” you ask, surprised to see them come in at the same time.
“We did!” Spencer says, putting a paper cup down in front of you. “I got you a donut, too.”
“Thanks, honey,” you say, rubbing the hot spot between your brows to no results. Spencer smiles, pleased, and sits at his desk with the bag of donuts to start a napkin dissemination.
You wrap your hand around the coffee and let it warm your fingers.
“You okay?” Derek asks. His brows are pinched upwards at the starts but otherwise furrowed. “You don't look happy.”
“I have a headache,” you admit. Talking is twice as hard with the pain pulsing behind your eyes; you slur.
“What?”
What does he mean, what? You look up from the desk in confusion, but he isn't confused like you, he's borderline upset. “It's not that bad,” you say.
“It looks pretty bad where I'm standing.”
Derek grabs the back of your chair and turns you toward him, his expression a mirror of your own discontent. He's wearing a short-sleeved shirt that in any other circumstance would draw your attention, and the badge clipped to his shirt is wonky.
You're in pain, but you like him. You care about him in the weird way that makes you want to make him breakfast and tie his shoelaces. He is not a man that needs coddling, but you can't restrain yourself, reaching for his pocket to right his badge.
He laughs quietly. “You're squinting.”
“Pain's in my eyes.”
“Sweetheart.” He takes your face in one hand and turns it down, away from the harsh office lights. “You're impossible to understand.”
You laugh but wince when a flame of pain sparks anew. “I think it's travelling. It's in my brain.”
“That's your second best feature.”
“Don't make me laugh,” you plead.
Morgan gives your cheek a rub with his thumb before pulling away. He takes the few steps to his desk and opens the drawer, pulling out a familiar pair of sleek black Ray-ban shades. “Here. Try these on for size,” he says, opening the arms wide.
You close your eyes, but there's no need. Derek's extremely careful pushing them over your ears and up your nose.
“Too sunny in here?” Blake asks, bemused as she skirts past with her mug of tea, her baby bump nudging the back of your chair.
“Poor girl's not feeling good,” Derek answers for you.
“Poor girl thought you felt sorry for her,” you say, staring at him through the grey lense of his shades. They're immediately helpful. You won't tell him that, though.
“I pity anybody stupid enough to feel sorry for you, sweetheart.” He hesitates for no more than a second, dropping his hand onto the stretch of your shoulder blade gently. “You take anything for it? Aspirin?”
“I did,” —your voice wobbles of its own accord, the instability that comes with a pain that has no clear end in sight— “but it hasn't kicked in yet.”
He rubs your back, pressing his cheek briefly to your forehead in a side-armed hug. “Let me get you a glass of water.”
“Morgan?” you ask, catching his arm. He waits. “Kiss it better?”
You say it because you know he'll crack a smile. It's not nice seeing him so worried, and your headache genuinely feels a little better when he laughs. “Don't start with me. I'll do it. You know I will, beautiful.”
You sink back into your seat and push his sunglasses up. “I'll be here.”
He leaves to get you a glass of water. While you're waiting, Spencer passes you your donut, which you pick apart and chew on feebly. Distracted, a warm, chaste kiss is pressed to your cheek as a familiar hand places a glass of water in front of you.
Derek wiggles his eyebrows at you, asking, “Better?”
“I'm telling Penelope.” You wince as you turn on your monitor. “In a bit. Just as soon as this screen gets less bright.”

I'm in the mood for some slight angst at the moment, so how about a RWBY version of the Justice League's Identity Crisis, with Jaune being the one who gets mind wiped with a relic from trying to stop his friends?
He doesn't even realize anything's really wrong until he notices how his friends can barely meet his gaze anymore. Why do they look so guilty..?
It isn't until he meets a still traumatized Emerald that it all finally comes back to him...
---------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------
Cinder Fall was in prison once more. Another job well done for Teams RWBY and JNRO. Victory like this calls for a celebration. Sure, things got messy when Hazel Rainart was dragged into the mix, but it all worked out in the end, right?
So why did Jaune feel so... off? And more importantly, why did Cinder look so... Well, angry couldn't begin to do what she felt justice. Something wasn't right, and it's when things aren't right that Jaune looks into it.
"Ruby, can we talk?"
"Uh, sure, Jaune." The two leaders left the party, with Yang cooing after them in a tease. "What's up?"
"Did Cinder seem..." Jaune struggled for the words, "...different to you?"
"Different?" Ruby put a finger to her chin. "Well, I wasn't expecting Hazel. She usually works solo."
"Yeah, she does." Jaune furrowed his brow. "But it's not just that. She looked at us like... Mm, I don't know. Like she hates us."
"Well, she is a bad guy."
"Yeah, but I mean HATES us. Like..." Jaune gave a grunt as he scratched his head. "Sorry, it's kinda hard to explain."
"It's fine." Ruby patted his shoulder. "Maybe the fight took a lot more out of us than we thought? Let's get back to the party and relax, okay?"
"Yeah." Jaune sighed. "Okay."
As the two moved back to the party, Blake leaned away from the wall. She mentally sighed in relief, only for a tightness to grow in her throat. It was only a matter of time.
..................................................................................
Cinder carved through her gloves into her cell wall. Her black talons dug into the solid concrete, though with little results because scuffing. All the while, she heaved heavy breaths that steamed out of her.
Those bastards. Those horrible, awful, evil bastards! She recognized how they grabbed Hazel as she attempted her escape. It was the only way they caught her! They held him in the exact same way she had been held years ago.
When she found Emerald. And she was alone once again.
..................................................................................
Emerald sobbed as she clung to Oscar. She felt so helpless. So pathetic. She wanted to die. She NEEDED to die!
But Oscar continued to hold her close. He watched as Nora stood between Jaune and Cinder's body. The horrible monster of a woman had been subdued, but Jaune lost himself and beat her into unconscious. Behind him, Ren was doing his best to calm Jaune's fury, righteous as it may have been.
"Is she... Are you okay?" Yang asked as she crouched near Emerald. She didn't reply beyond her already occurring sobs.
When Emerald was with Cinder, she had never so much as raise a hand to her. Sure, unkind words had been said now and then, but it never got physical. Nor did it get to a point of bruises, bleedings, and burns, either.
"I'll go let the others know what happened." Ruby said, satchel on side. "That way Cinder can never hurt anybody like this again." Receiving a nod from Weiss, Ruby left out the door.
"It won't do anything." Jaune huffed. "Cinder needs to die."
"Jaune-" Nora began.
"Look at what happened to Emerald!" Jaune shouted, making the girl quiet into soft mewls. "Cinder is a threat to not only us, but our families! I have sisters! Parents! I have a fucking nephew, a child who doesn't deserve this! Nobody deserves this!" He glared at the unconscious woman. "I say we put her down. Like the sick animal she is."
There was a tension in the air. Everyone glanced between one another, hoping someone would- could refute what Jaune said. But nothing.
"What if..." Oscar spoke up, looking from Emerald to Jaune. "What if there was another way?"
..................................................................................
"I'm heading out on patrol." Jaune told Ren. His friend didn't turn from the stove. Same as yesterday and the day before. Was he always like that? Jaune simply sighed and shrugged. "I'll be back later tonight."
Jaune made his way outside, down to the patrol house. Along the way, he saw Blake give him a glance, but nothing more. Not even a wave. Blake was distant, sure, but was she always that distant?
"It's not right!" Jaune looked over and saw two children bickering, toys in hand.
"It is so right!" The other child shouted back. She shoved her playmate. Nora then tackled Jaune to the floor.
Jaune shook his head. What was that? Was he seeing things?
He passed by the mechanic's shop. A car pulled in, a handsome teen grinning as he slapped the car door excitedly. As he pulled in, the car muffler gave a loud bang as it backfired. Yang dogpiled him, unloading a heated shell into his face.
Jaune felt his heart race as his teeth and fingers clenched. He'd sparred with Yang before, but it never got so heated. He shook his head as he hurried along to the patrol house. Maybe he could get medical help after patrol. After all, this wasn't anything serious.
The station was just down the street now. Hopefully, tonight wouldn't be too crazy. Nothing beyond vandals and "kids being kids". Hopefully there were a few donuts left from the morning.
There was a bell ring in front of him. It was the old pastry shop that him and Ruby liked to visit. However, neither exited the sweets store, though the patrons were familiar. Oscar was smiling as he and Emerald left. Sadly, the smiles fell as they saw Jaune.
Emerald looked at him like she was going to cry. Just like that night. Half of her faced was covered in faded scars. Just like that night!. Oscar had a look of fear in his eyes as he stood close to Emerald, as if shielding her. JUST LIKE THAT NIGHT!.
"Oscar?"
"Uh, y-yeah, Jaune?"
Emerald screamed as she dropped the box to the ground. Jaune lifted Oscar by his collar with blue eyes blazing. Oscar kicked in the air, but it did little to end his airborne status. Jaune glared into him.
"WHAT HAPPENED?"

Snaps - WhiteKnight
Weiss: Gah! How hard does taking a good selfie have to be!?
Yang: You okay in there Weiss, everything coming out alright?
Weiss: Go away Xiao-Long, I'm trying to get good lighting!
Yang: What for, you trying to get a good ass-shot for VB or something?
Weiss:...
Yang: Weiss?
The door to the bathroom opens and before Yang could peek in shes quickly pulled in by the Heiress.
Yang: Hey now what's the big- Butt...
Before Yang stood Weiss, still wearing her school top and heels. Although her skirt was missing showing off the Heiress's smooth legs and a rather risque looking pair of light blue string panties that left little to the imagination of what exactly she hid underneath that skirt. Yang even thought she noticed the faintest tuft of white hair peeking above the pantyline.
Yang: Damn Weiss, where the Heck have you been hiding that?
The Heiress at least had the decency to guffaw.
Weiss: I'll have you know that unlike you, I don't flaunt myself about.
Yang: Fair point but I mean honestly, your ass is on par with Blake's!
Weiss huffed.
Weiss: As much as I appreciate the compliment I need your help. Here take a look at what I have so far.
She handed Yang her Scroll with the photo gallery opened, in it were various photos of Weiss in different poses and state of dress. Although Yang did see the progress of when Weiss first started taking to first shot, fully clothed and looking at the mirror unsure, to her current outfit with her butt on top of the counter and towards the mirror.
Yang: Well these all look good enough honestly, but why do you need my help?
Weiss: As much as it annoys me to say it, I believe you have a more critical take on how best to woo the opposite sex.
Yang: Pardon?
Weiss shook her head and sighed.
Weiss: You know how make man horny?
Yang: Oh! Damn right I do!
Weiss: Exactly, so can you give me some advice?
Yang gave a wide grin.
Yang: Well then have no fear, Yang is here!
---
Inside of JNPR's room, Jaune and Ren where currently relaxing while Pyrrha and Nora were sparring in the arena.
Ping
The sound of Jaune's Scroll going off from getting a message had broken the comfortable silence.
Ren: A message?
Jaune: Yeah, probably Pyrrha and Nora wanting us to meet them at the cafeteria.
Jaune checked his Scroll and went to the message, seeing that it was from Weiss.
Jaune: Huh, maybe she wants to schedule another study session?
He opened the message and coughed in surprise. Weiss had sent him a picture, but a rather lewd picture that made Jaune stiffen in more ways than one.
The picture was of Weiss holding the scroll above herself and wearing an unbuttoned school shirt, looking at the camera with her tongue poking out just a little. As he kept looking he saw that her skirt was missing entirely and that other hand was pulling the front part of her panties outwards showing the barest hint of her crotch but giving Jaune the answer that she was indeed a natural white.
Before he could respond he received another message from Weiss.
This time it showed her laying down in her bed looking at the camera with a smirk. Although now she was entirely naked save for the pair of panties from the picture previous. Her shapely ass raised up to give a view to him and with a caption just above the open area.
Weiss: Now you send me something my Dork Knight.
Jaune only gulped at the request, he never knew Weiss was able to be kinky, or at least he thought it was kinky. Plus something about seeing the prim and proper Heiress posing in such a way really got his gears going, but there was one problem.
Jaune: Ren?
Ren: Yes Jaune?
Jaune: Can you give me advice on how to talk a nude selfie?
Ren only raised a brow at his leader, and became slightly worried that growing up with Nora had dulled his sense to dealing with the absurd.
Ren: Of course, first remove your shirt-
---
Weiss currently sat on her bed in an embarrassed state. Now clad in a bathrobe after taking the last picture, and had been a mix of emotions ever since. First she was proud of sending not one but two pictures to Jaune. This quickly died down to regret in thinking she could've sent something better and finally into worry that Jaune might think if her as a Harlot.
Yang: Yeesh Weiss it's just a nude, not like you asked him plant a baby in you or something.
The response she received was a pillow being thrown at her.
Weiss: You don't get it Yang, what if he thinks I'm too small or what if he thinks my butt is too big? Or or or- Mmhmph!?
She found Yang's hand suddenly covering her mouth.
Yang: Just chillax Weissy, you just gotta have faith is all. Now just take a few breaths and you'll get results.
Weiss stared at Yang and did as told, calming down a bit until she heard the familiar Ping of her Scroll going off. She looked at Yang again, and Yang looked at her.
Weiss: Can you open it for me?
Yang raised a brow at her.
Weiss: Right, this is between me and Jaune now.
She readied herself for whatever response he had given. Opening the message to find two pictures from Jaune and she felt the heat on her face rising from what she saw.
The first picture was of Jaune, stood in front of the mirror without his shirt and flexing. He seemed to be embarrassed if the slight blush was anything to go by but he still stood proudly. Weiss had to admit that Pyrrha's training was doing wonders for his body there was a caption to go with it.
Jaune: I'll do my best to appease you.
She smiled at that, something about that message just clicked something inside if the Heiress. The second image however was far different. Much like her own picture, Jaune was laying in his own bed on his back and scroll facing downwards. He still had his pants on but the belt and zipper was undone and allowed the Arc to pitch a sizeable tent with his white boxers as even the waistband had been lifted ever slightly to give a small glimpse within. Weiss gulped, her first thought being that the size would destroy her, but also that Jaune was a natural blonde all the way. This one also had a caption.
Jaune: Your knight's blade is at the ready your majesty.
So distracted Weiss was that she failed to notice Yang moving up beside her.
Yang: *whistles* Damn VB, you gonna tear Weiss up with that!
Weiss snapped out if her trance and did the only thing she could think of.
---
Across the Hall, Jaune was putting his clothes back and adjusting his member when he heard the familiar shrill if the Heiress.
Jaune: Uh, was what I sent her that bad?
At the question, Ren came out if the bathroom when he gave Jaune his privacy.
Ren: Not in the slightest, those poses were rather good for the sudden moment.
Jaune: How can you-
Ren: I did a modeling gig before Beacon started for some cash.
Jaune: But-
Ren: It was for someone who's last name was Adele, can't fully remember. Tell no one by the way.
Jaune: Oh... Okay.
The two were in silence save for the yelling still coming from across the Hall.
Jaune: Hope it wasn't too bad though.
They heard the laughing shout from across the hall.
Yang: He's gonna destroy you with that thing!
Weiss: Won't know until I try it Xiao-Long, now give me back my Scroll!
Ren only looked at Jaune who was blushing now.
Ren: It seems it was good enough Jaune.

(Hello there, Private here just saying this is my first NSFW-ish type story. Honestly, it's difficult to make male nudes sound attractive since from what I've seen is either measuring with something or stark naked in the mirror. No sense of creativity I tells ya. But the ladies have some more leeway, but only few of them do get creative.
Anyways, thanks for your time and have a great day.)

Dollface
Summary: After the death of her two brother, reader feels as though she must become the perfect child. She reaches her breaking point at a night at Rossi’s.
Warnings: mentions of suicide, depression, angst Your fingers grabbed at another stray hair, a desperate attempt to make an escape as you smoothed the rest into a nice, sleek ponytail. Grabbing it, you tucked it under the hair tie, breathing deeply through your nose as you stared back at the reflection.
You didn't like staring into the mirror. Staring into the mirror meant seeing your eyes, a rather odd statement when you really thought about it, but the reason you hated it all the same. You had to stare into those brown orbs, brown orbs you had inherited from your mother, and ones she had passed down not only to you, but to Ethan as well.
Ethan.
The name sent a shiver through your body.
He had passed just when you both had turned nine. He had been struggling for a while, ever since you could remember actually. For years, you had accompanied him on doctor appointments, consults after consults. Alex Blake was no quitter, and she had fought tooth and nail to find someone- anyone- to save her boy. In the end she hadn't succeeded. He had passed in his bed, only a couple feet away from you. Sometimes you could still hear her sobs, her wails of agony after she had found him, a mother losing her son, her baby. Sometimes it felt as though you had lost her that day too.
You forced the tips of your mouth to lean upward, the motion looking so foreign on your face that you couldn't help but stare. A smile. A true smile. When was the last time you had one of those? You recalled the time before Ethan started presenting symptoms, a time before his illness, before the unrelenting sadness that ran rampant throughout your house. Before your mother was driven insane, a linguist unable to name the one thing she hated so much, the one thing that took away one of her children. Before your father ran off, escaping to different countries under the guise of Doctors Without Borders. You knew why he really took that position, that he was so driven by his grief of losing Ethan that he ran off to find children he actually could save. And your mother? She didn't get much better. When she had lost Ethan she had lost a part of herself you weren't quite sure she would ever get back. A carefree, laid-back part of her, one that wouldn't run to the emergency room every time you had a cough. One that wouldn't demand an MRI every time you needed a physical checkup. One that didn't watch you so closely, close enough that you could feel her stare on you, whenever you played on the playground with the other children. Before the stares were less loving, more analytical, and every goodbye felt like your last.
Your lips dropped down, eyes remaining on yourself.
Nothing was wrong with you of course, but your mother could never be sure. Losing one child was enough, the fear of losing her second drove her over the edge.
And so, you played along.
You pretended you didn't want to play baseball with the kids in the neighborhood, taking a liking to books instead. You pretended you didn't want to go out, or play in the rain, or step in puddles, or touch frogs. Childhood was non-existent, and for you, that was just how it had to be, because you didn't want to drive her mother any madder than she already was.
Your hands dropped to your sides, smoothing the sides of your pants with your hands, a nervous tick, but comforting nonetheless.
An evening at Rossi's. The invitation alone was enough to make you want to scream.
As awful as it sounded, you hated when your mother was home. Since you had turned seventeen, you were trusted enough to stay home alone when your mother was out on cases, so long as you FaceTimed every night and the neighbors could check on you in the morning. And, with your father away you were left to your own devices. You relished in the feeling of being alone. You liked being able to emerge from your room without that heaviness dragging you down, the weight of your mother's morbid stare, the one that made you think that perhaps you were dying and you just didn't know it, enough to make you feel an onslaught of loneliness. When your mother was gone, you were able to watch tv with the volume all the way up, or order pizzas with extra cheese. You could let the dishes pile up and leave the laundry to fester.
And then when your mother came home it felt like everything in the air was sucked up all over again. Like all the walls were caving in, the world was ending, and once more you were dying.
"Y/N! Time to go!"
You glanced at yourself one more time. Clothes ironed perfectly, a crisp button down tucked into a pleated skirt, hair pinned and proper. A doll. A perfect little doll ready to be played with.
You turned off the bathroom light, grabbing your purse.
"Coming, Mother."
-
"My mom speaks very highly of you all, it's nice to finally meet you." You spoke with a sense of tranquility that the team wasn't quite expecting. Though, to be honest, they weren't precisely sure what to expect when they had caught wind that Alex was finally bringing her daughter to an event. Typically, you were too busy.
Studying for school, babysitting for children around the neighborhood, getting ahead in your classes, attending chess club, book club, anything and everything that had made their lips part, eyebrows furrowing because you were just a child but the way she spoke about you made you seem so...refined. Independent. Not a child.
Your peers had said the same things- behind your back, of course. You didn't have many friends. Being the perfect child didn't give you much time to make those, and you weren't good at it anyways. The teachers had always praised you, admiring you for your perfectionism. Your straight A's, good temperament, and ability to surpass the school's curriculum had you earning your teachers' result rather quickly but it had soon turned to sympathy. They had begun to notice how your posture was always straight, how your pens were always in alignment, how you never spoke unless answering an academic question.
Sometimes, they would watch you, just to see if you would suddenly sneeze and ruin that perfect mirage that you displayed to the world. But you never did, not really. You were a doll. You were picture perfect and they had previously found that quality a little endearing but now they just felt pity, because how many times had that doll felt like she wasn't enough in order to make it appear as so?
Met with enthusiasm, you smiled along as the night progressed, making light conversation with your mother's team. They were nice enough, and you tried not to let along how painful your smiles began to be. It wasn't long before you had excused yourself to a smaller room, bringing out the school work you had brought along to get out of the way.
it was an art project, your least favorite subject. Art, your teacher had stated, is an expression of emotion. There were no rules, no tips, no studying to help you along. Either you had it, or you didn't. You definitely did not.
The noise of the party chattered against your brain as your teeth began their assault against your lip, biting down hard as your eraser grated against the paper once more. With a frustrated grunt, you tried again, the circle coming out just as uneven as the last time.
Spencer must've noticed you out on the patio by yourself. He excused himself from the party, approaching you slowly.
"Hey."
You knew he was being nice. He was mingling and from what you mother had told you about him he didn't do it often so you were trying your very best to not snap at him, your agitation at an all time high due to the failure of your art project.
"Hello."
Your eyes were still on your paper, trying to salvage something- anything- from this artwork but it was futile. Every time you added something it made it worse and every time you removed something it looked empty and you were beginning to get frustrated. You hated art, you wanted to drop it, but it was a requirement. A stupid, useless class, in your opinion (though maybe it was biased due to your inability to do it). Your heart rate quickened at the thought of getting anything lower than an A on this piece. Your grade was already at a 92, that in itself was enough to make your head spin but what if you got a B on this work and it brought your overall grade down? What if you received your first ever B? What would your mother say then?
Spencer was watching you with curious eyes. He saw a bit of himself in you ever since you had arrived, though that isn't all a good thing. He saw an intelligent, capable girl who put far too much pressure on himself. A girl who carried the weight of the world on her shoulders. A girl who refused to ask for help.
And now, your breaths becoming ragged and eyes unfocused, he saw you, really saw you. Your eraser was grinding against there paper and in your anger it ripped it, your lips parting at the action. As bad as it had been this was even worse because now you sound have to start over.
Starting over meant setting you back at least three days in work and you were supposed to have this assignment done by tonight to get ahead for other classes tomorrow.
"Y/N? Y/N you need to breathe, take a break from you're homework, it's okay-"
You had forgotten that Spencer was there in all honesty, but now that he was speaking you whipped toward him.
The words seemed to cut through you like a knife and you shot an incredulous look at the man. "Okay? It's not okay! I can't take a break because I needed to get it done by tonight! I need to write a paper and get ahead in physics so that I can make time for babysitting, and attend lectures, and sit in on mom's classes and-"
Your hands were balled now, clenching into fists and Spencer was reaching for them.
"Look at me, take a breath-"
"This stupid art project, it didn't look good-"
"It looked fine-" Spencer tried, and he could tell that the two of you were attracting attention now because he could feel eyes flitting to the back door windows and he knew for certain that Alex would be here soon but none of it seemed to register for you because your eyes were far too panicked and cheeks too flushed.
"It can't be just fine, it needs to be perfect!" You broke. Your voice was louder than you had ever used with an adult and if you weren't  so far gone in your breakdown you surely would've apologized. The eraser in your hand dropped, fists unclenching to cover your ears because your thoughts were too loud. They were always too loud. Constant planning, scheduling ahead. Worries about your parents, your reputation, your next step. It came crashing over you.
Later, you would realize you were sobbing but for now, you were left to wonder why your throat was so sore.
"Y/N, you need to breathe, okay? Breathe. It doesn't need to be perfect, you're okay-"
Alex was relieving Spencer, and he retreated back into the house with a reassuring nod from Alex. The team sent worried looks, but looked away to give the two of you privacy. You hardly even noticed the change.
"Hey." Alex was taking your hands from your ears, eyes wide. She had never seen you like this, never seen you so distraught and it scared her. It terrified her to see you in such a state because, clearly, you weren't okay and you hadn't been for a while and how did she miss this? It scared her because ever since she could remember you had been such an easy child. A child who didn't ask for help, a child who didn't cry, who didn’t yell, who didn't ask for things. And was that a result of her?
"Hey, look at me. Look at me." Her finger was going under your chin, forcing it upward, forcing your eyes on hers and she was accentuating her breaths, making you take them with her. "What's going on, hm? Whats' going on, talk to me."
Maybe it was the softness in her tone, or the woe in your eyes, or maybe it was just exhaustion from constantly trying to be...everything and anything your mother could ask for, but you chose to tell the truth.
"I have to be perfect." And it was quiet. You could hear the water fountain somewhere far to your left, something Rossi apparently had put in two years ago, but you couldn't see it over the hedges. Alex rose a brow, not understanding and so you continued.  "I have to be perfect...for you."
And the Blake woman was gasping because how could her daughter even think that? How could she not see that her daughter was thinking that? "Honey, no-"
But you weren't letting her finish. "Yes, I do. I have to be the perfect child because you lost the other one. And I," You swallowed, sighing softly. "I can't be him for you."
"W-what?"
"Ever since he died I- he-...you were different. You and Dad both were, and I just wanted to make you happy so I tried to be good, I tried to be the best kid so that you wouldn't feel any sadder than you did."
"Oh, baby, you didn't have to do that-"
"Yes I did. When he died it was like every time you looked at me I was already dead I just didn't know it.  I've been dead for years. I think I might've died with him."
And you were breathing steadily now. You chest wasn't as tight, your mind wasn't as foggy but now your eyes were filled with tears. You cried because you had wanted to say these words for so long, you had wanted your mother back for an eternity snd now she was listening, now you were going to surrender yourself to imperfection.
"I never meant to make you feel like that, please-"
The tears fell across your cheeks, splayed out like a beautiful painting, a masterpiece created by you, a girl who thought that she was a horrible artist. Perhaps you weren't as horrible as you thought.
"I wish it was me instead of him. Because I can't take it. I can't keep doing this-"
Alex was shaking her head, gripping your cheeks in her hands now, because the words you were saying made it sound like she might lose you, made it sound like you might just dissolve under her touch. And all she felt right now was dread. "Don't say that."
"The classes, the perfectionism, I'm...I'm just so tired."
"Baby, please. I'm, I'm so sorry." And that thought entered your mind once more, that perhaps you were a wonderful little artists because kneeling before you now was a tragically beautiful piece of art. A grieving mother, wet cheeks piling up by the minute, eyes filled with some kind of morose morbidity and that was something you had created.
"I'm a perfect little girl in a perfect little house. We all play pretend that Ethan didn't exist-"
"Y/N Y/M/N." Alex was trying, begging you to stop because it hurt. It pained her because Ethan died of something no one knew about but you? You were dying because of her.
"It's alright. I'm just so tired of all the pretending. I wish Ethan and I could swap places, because then he could be playing pretend and I can just...relax."
Where to go from here? The two of you sat on that patio under the watch of the stars, under the protection of the moonlight. What might happen when the sun touched your faces once more?
You doll wasn't so perfect anymore. Perhaps she would never be again.

Bre’s Boys: “So what if I’m jealous?”(Jealous Boys)
Billy Russo: “Oh,” you looked down at your phone, “it says I have a missed call. When did Rob call me?” Billy didn’t look up from his phone. “When you were in the shower.” “Is that why you came in there?” You smirked; Billy had ended up joining you in the shower, hence you not checking your phone in a while. “I came in there to remind you who you belong to,” he answered back. You grinned. You and Rob had been working together for a while now, and Billy made no secret of his dislike for the guy. “Are you jealous?” “So what if I’m jealous,” he stood up, pocketing his phone as he walked over to you, “Doesn’t make you any less mine.” You laughed, reaching up and wrapping your arms around his neck and giving him a kiss. If Billy’s jealousy resulted in sexy showers well... who were you to say no?
Logan Delos: Logan had been pacing for 15 minutes now. No, correction--he was pacing and ranting. “So he grew up with you--okay, and? I still know you better!” You were on the couch, watching him. Logan had just met your childhood best friend, and they hadn’t exactly hit it off... “And what the hell was that whole ‘oh, since when were you into macaroons’ thing? Like, are you not allowed to like new things?” You laughed, and Logan stopped, glaring over at you. “What’s so funny?” “You/ You being jealous.” He huffed. “So what if I’m jealous--I’m the one you go home to every night, not that douchebag!” He leaned down and kissed you, and you smiled into the kiss. “That’s right,” you said as he crawled onto you, “you’re the one.”
Jax Teller: As soon as your ex saw you, you could feel a change in the air. Jax watched him closely, his blue eyes unblinking until the guy is gone. “Dude, you looked like an insane person,” you said, leaning your head on Jax’s shoulder, “Did you get it all out?” “Get all what out?” “The jealousy.” Jax chuckled, shaking his head. “So what if I’m jealous? Doesn’t matter.” “Oh, it doesn’t?” Jax grabbed your waist and pulled you in front of him so that he was smirking down at you. “Nope. All that matters is that that guy, and every other guy within a 30 mile radius knows that you’re my girl.” He kissed you then, and it was the kind of kiss that made your toes curl. Jax probably had a point about everyone knowing you were his--after a kiss like that, how could they not?
Coco Cruz: “So what if I’m jealous?” Coco followed you into the house. “You’re my girl, I have a right to be jealous!” “Baby,” you sighed, turning to face him, “there’s no need to be jealous; I’m all yours.” “Yeah,” his hands went down to your waist, “I know you are, but still... I don’t like the idea of any asshole off the street coming on to you...” “I mean, I can’t help that I’m fine.” Coco laughed, dropping his head onto your shoulder. “Yeah, you’re fine as fuck, querida.” You wrapped your arms around him. “And I’m with you,” you promised, “for ever.” Coco raised his head. “Forever, huh?” He asked. “Forever,” you said back, your lips brushing against his, “my loco Coco...”
Angel Reyes: “Say it again,” Angel grinned, leaning against the door. “Angel, I swear to God--” “C’mon, baby, say it again, please,” he whined, batting his eyes at you. You sighed, rolling your eyes and trying to swallow back a laugh. “I was just a little, teeny tiny bit jealous when I saw you with her,” you confessed, “Like--just a little bit.” “Awwww,” he grinned, “baby, you were jealous!” “Yeah, okay, so what if I was jealous? I can’t help it!” You reached over for him, your fists balling into his shirt. “You’re my Angel.” Angel’s answering smile made your heart melt, and he leaned down and kissed you, his lips soft on yours. “Tell me you love me.” “I love you, Angel.” He smiled, his lips on yours. “Love you too, babe.”
Miguel Galindo: Miguel didn’t say much on the drive home, but he didn’t have to. You knew he was jealous. He held your hand in his as the driver took the two of you around the city. You smiled as you dropped your head to his shoulder. “Lunch was great,” you said. His hand flexed in yours. “Yeah? You didn’t think it got too crowded?” You closed your eyes, a little buzzed from the mimosas. “Why? Because Blake was there?” Miguel groaned, his head nesting on top of yours. “I hate that you were with him.” “Once,” you reminded him, “a long, long time ago.” “I hate that you were going to marry him.” You sat up, smiling at your cartel boss husband as he basically pouted. “Are you jealous, Miguel?” He scoffed. “So what if I’m jealous? I’m the one who married you,” he huffed, his arm wrapping around you, “so I won.”
Nick Amaro: “I don’t like that guy,” Nick grumbled as he sat down across from you. “What guy? The host?” “He was looking at you...” “Well, yeah, that’s how conversations work.” “No, I mean...” Nick sighed, shaking his head, “forget it. I’m being stupid.” You licked your lips, trying to and failing at not smiling. “Is... Are you feeling a little territorial, Nick?” “Maybe...” “A little possessive?” You smirked. Nick laughed, shaking his head again. “It’s possible...” “Maybe even a bit jealous?” “So what if I’m jealous?” He leaned closer to you, his dark eyes gleaming in the low light of the restaurant. “I have the most beautiful woman in New York on my arm, how can I not be?” “Oh, Detective Amaro,” you cooed, “you’re such a charmer!”
Johnny Tuturro: You could feel Johnny’s eyes on you as you talked with the local cop. And when you walked back over to Johnny, he was frowning. “What?” You asked, walking out of the precinct. “I didn’t know you two were friends,” Johnny said back. “Well, he’s the main guy on the gang unit here, so...” “So he gets that smile, huh?” He grumbled. “Thought that smile was just for me.” ‘Oh, Johnny,” you laughed, “are you jealous?” “Nope.” “Yes you are!” “No I’m not, I’m too hot to get jealous.” “You’re so jealous, you’re a jelly green donut, dude.” Johnny rolled his eyes as he took your hand in his. “So what if I’m jealous? I’m still 100% cuter than that guy.” You laughed. “Yes, Johnny, you’re cute.” “And I got a banging bod.” “Yes, Johnny.” “And I’m the best kisser in the world.” “Okay, babe--” “The galaxy, actually!”
Rio: “Hold up a second,” Rio’s voice was hard, and you looked up from your seat behind him as you went over this month’s expenses. He was glaring at one of the guys who were trying to do business with him. “The fuck are you looking at so closely?” Rio asked, he turned towards you, an eyebrow raised before he looked back at the men. “Her? My Queen? She what you’re looking at?” The room went silent, and you could feel the men take a collective, nervous breath. “Huh?” Rio went on. “Answer me.” “Nah, we--we weren’t,” one of the guys began. “Nah, not you. Him.” All eyes were on the accused man, and you could see the tension in Rio’s shoulders. “Sir, I--” the man began, but Rio interrupted him. “Get the fuck out of here,” he said, already turning back towards you as Mick escorted the men out. You raised an eyebrow at him. “So... you a little jealous, babe?” “So what if I’m jealous?” He leaned down and pecked your lips. “I don’t like people lookin’ at what’s mine.”

Everyone must participate in a competition (up to you what that might be) and the two people who come in last place must get legally married!
Yang: Pffff what???
Weiss: So, literally get married. Courthouse, marriage license, everything?
Blake: Seems like it.
Yang: So this is legit? Whatever this competition will be ends with two of us getting married?
Nora: But what should the competition actually be?
Everyone: ...
Ruby: Art contest!
Yang: Art contest?
Ruby: Yeah! And we could get the boys to judge.
Blake: That might actually be fun.
Yang: Of course you’d say that, I’ve seen your sketchbook.
Blake, shrugging: Guess I’m not getting married then.
Pyrrha: How long do we have to create our pieces?
Ruby: Until this time tomorrow I guess? *stands up and poses dramatically* You have 24 hours to create your masterpieces! Go!
Everyone: *stays in place*
Nora: I have no idea what to do.
Ruby, still posing: Just...think of something, this is getting awkward.
May, glancing at Fiona: Uhh.
Fiona: Indeed.
The next day, in the Beacon courtyard with everyone’s art pieces on display...
Jaune: Okay, fellow judges, how are we going to figure out who wins this?
Mercury: Just...write down your own rankings from worst to best and then we’ll compare?
Sun: How long is this going to take?
Neptune: What, do you have somewhere to be?
Sun: It’s the weekend, I want to do weekend things.
Neptune: Like sit around and do nothing.
Sun: Yes!
Neptune: That’s what you always do.
Ren: Does anyone know what this competition actually entails?
Jaune: Ruby said it was a secret. Maybe the winner gets a date with whoever they choose?
Ren: Something tells me it’s worse than that.
May: *taps Jaune’s shoulder*
Jaune: Hm? Oh, hi, uhh...
May: May.
Jaune: Right.
Sun: What’s up?
May: Okay, so, you guys are judging this art competition, right?
Jaune: Yeah?
May: Could you give me and Fiona a break here? Neither of us have a single artistic bone in our body.
Fiona, nodding: We tried. Really tried. But...it’s not pretty.
Sun: Wait, so hold up, you’re asking us to skew the results to your advantage? Not cool.
Fiona: C’mon, just a little bit? Just to, like, keep us out of last place?
Ren: What’s the concern about last place?
May: If you come in last place, you have to—
Ruby, appearing next to them: Heyyyyy guys, we’re almost ready to start! *looks toward May and Fiona* What are you two doing? *points at them* Talkin’ up the judges, hmm? Trying to get an unfair advantage?
Fiona, blushing: Uhhh no? Just...meeting new people!
Ruby: I’ve got my eye on you two. *chuckles* I’m just joking. Ready, boys?
Jaune: I think so. Though we do have a question: What does the winner of this competition even get?
Ruby, looking to the side: Uhh...they get an immunity for a future truth or dare.
Jaune: Oh. Okay, makes sense.
Mercury, snickering: You sure the prize isn’t a date with Jaune?
Jaune: What??
Neptune, laughing: Pretty sure that’s for whoever comes in last place.
Jaune: What????
Fiona, murmuring to May: Oh gods, that would be even worse...
Sun: You’re not allowed to put Pyrrha in last place, Jaune.
Jaune: A date with me isn’t an actual consolation prize! Like half of them are lesbians anyway, quit being weirdos! *crosses his arms and pouts*
Ren: I’ll go on a date with you, Jaune.
Jaune, grinning: Aww, really??
Ruby, snapping her fingers: Snap out of it, you’ve got art to judge. *waving for them to follow her* Look at mine first!
Timeskip timeskip wheeee....
Ren, holding a clipboard: Okay, we’ve put together a final ranking of everyone’s pieces into tiers, because Sun says tier lists are fun.
Sun: They are!
Ren: Sooooo S-tier, the winner is Blake’s drawing of their team. Very detailed, lovely colors, all-around beautiful.
Yang: Wooo go Blake!
Ruby, hugging Blake: I knew it!
Blake, bowing: Thank you thank you.
Ren: Next, A-tier, Ruby’s painting of Zwei, Penny’s glass sculpture of a bird, Yang’s spray paint mural tribute to her bike, and Nora’s wood burning drawing of a thunderstorm.
Nora, high-fiving Yang: Nice!
Penny, hugging Ruby: Yay!
Ren: B-tier, Pyrrha’s origami swan made of metal, Ciel’s photo collage of sunsets, Ilia’s watercolor painting, and Elm’s wood carving of an Ursa.
Elm, pouting: Aww...and I broke out my good chainsaw for this.
Ilia: Wait. Your what?
Elm, chuckling: Just kidding, I just have the one.
Nora: Wait, Pyrrha only got B-tier? *points at her metal origami swan* But that’s so good though?!
Ren, shrugging: To be fair, with her semblance, she can fold metal as easily as anyone can fold paper, so...it’s a paper swan on steroids, as Mercury put it.
Nora: Hmph...
Jaune, whispering to Pyrrha: I tried to vouch for you, I really did.
Pyrrha, turning to him, grinning: Are you kidding? This is the first time in a long time that I lost at something. I feel liberated!
Jaune: Wow, really? Well, awesome!
Ren: C-tier, Neon’s glowstick sculpture, Harriet’s digital drawing of a rabbit, and Cinder, Emerald, and Neo’s...“dress”?
Emerald: It started as a dress, but then it kinda became overalls, and then a dress again, and then...I don’t know.
Cinder: It has fire dust infused with it, so there’s that.
Neo, wearing said monstrosity: I want to change.
Ren: D-tier, Weiss’ melted ice sculpture. We gave her the benefit of the doubt that it was as magnificent as she described.
Weiss: It was! It’s just...sunny outside...
Ren: However, bottom tier, May and Fiona for their...paper mache...pyramids?
May, sighing: It was supposed to be a model of Beacon.
Yang, chuckling: So, when’s the wedding?
Fiona, blushing, deliberately avoiding eye contact with May: Uhhh we can’t get married, though! We’re legal residents of Atlas, so we can’t get married in Vale, oh well!
Blake: But marriages are recognized everywhere no matter where they’re performed.
Fiona: But...we can’t tho.
May, sighing and putting a hand on Fiona’s shoulder: There’s nothing we can do, fiancée.
Fiona: Wait, you’re cool with this?
May, shrugging: I mean, we could get an annulment immediately after.
Fiona, sighing: Okay, I guess you’re right.
Ruby, throwing rose petals over them both: 🎵 May and Fiona sitting in a tree, M-A-R-I-A-G-E~ 🎵
May: When is this actually happening?
Yang: Uhh, today? Go get married!
May: Sure, let’s elope.
Fiona: How are you so unbothered?!
Later, outside a courthouse...
Fiona: Well, we’re legally married now.
May: Should we call Robyn and Joanna and tell them the good news?
Fiona, sweating: I think it would be totally fine if we didn’t mention it to them.
May: Whatever you say, wife.
Fiona: Don’t call me that!
May: But you are my wife, legally speaking.
Fiona: Stahhhp!
May: Why??
Fiona, blushing: You know...gay thoughts...
May: What, the thought of being married to me is embarrassing?
Fiona: No! It’s just...I dunno...
May, turning and kissing her forehead: Chill out, Fiona, it’ll be just fine.
Fiona, blushing even more: Ohhh...
May, smirking at her: What?
Fiona: Nothing! Uhh...wanna get that annulment taken care of?
May: Eh, I’m sick of paperwork at this point. Let’s do it tomorrow.

The Dumbest RWBY Oneshot Ever
Weiss Schnee was feeling, all things considered, pretty good.
Sure, she hadn’t slept in something like forty-eight hours. And, alright, the immortal witch-queen of the Grimm had parked a gods-damned WHALE as large as Beacon itself on Atlas. And even after Oscar blew it (and her) up with a magic cane, there was still the voluminous horde of shadow demons it had vomited up roving her home city while innocent citizens cowered in the subway. Not to mention the monster that had broken into her own home and terrorized everyone with its creepy speech before it died, leaving behind the mangled body of some poor silver-eyed faunus and traumatizing Ruby with the gruesome implications.
And then there Ironwood going insane, declaring them all enemies of the state, infecting Penny with a lethal virus, and threatening to blow up Mantle. If her sister was to be believed he’d also killed one council members and been barely prevented from murdering one of his own Ace Ops before they contained him. And, of course, there was the tiny fact that Weiss had herself condemned the city of Atlas to fall as a result of all that...
Realistically, she should have been weighed down with guilt, and exhaustion, and resentment, and probably a lot of other things. But what Weiss felt now was something like... relieved pride. Despite all odds, they’d saved Penny. They’d brought Ironwood to heel. They’d even killed Salem--temporarily, she was coming back, but still an accomplishment. And, as she strode down the golden path from the portal and watched people slowly trickle in from the other bright ovals in this... mysterious void, she knew that the citizens of Mantle and of Atlas would escape the calamity that had been wrought.
“Hope Vacuo has enough space for all these people,” Ruby murmured as she helped Penny along on her new feet.
Yang smirked. "If there’s one thing Vacuo has plenty of, it’s space. I’m more worried about dumping everyone on them without warning.”
“That is a tomorrow problem,” Weiss declared.
“Wow.” Blake gave her a wry grin. “I never thought I’d see the day where you, of all people, would procrastinate.”
Weiss whirled, pointing the staff of creation at Blake’s face. “Where was all this sass back at Beacon?”
“Locked behind the trauma of escaping an abusive relationship,” Blake replied casually.
“...Touché.” Weiss shrugged, stepping onto the main platform and waving at the milling crowd. “Excuse me! Can anybody tell me where the Happy Huntresses are? We need to touch base.”
“They’re over there!” a woman reported, pointing at the largest portal. “They’re helping organize everyone going through--getting families back together and all that.” She shook her head. “This is actually happening...”
Yang put a hand on her shoulder. “Yeah. World’s a crazy place. Just... focus on what you need to do now, okay?”
“Okay.” The woman nodded. “I’m going to... look for my husband.”
With a final pat, Yang broke away and the five teenagers maneuvered through the press of people. It didn’t take them too long to approach the three women near the final road, since the crowd was milling that way anyway, and the tall green-haired woman spotted them first. “Hey May, your interns are here!”
“Thanks Joanna!” The blue-haired woman waved the five of them over with a grin. “There’s the heroes of the hour!”
“Interns?” Yang put a hand on her hip. “Are we getting paid for this?”
“Sorry, no pay till you’re officially hired, but I’ll make sure you get an amazing benefits package.” May Marigold had a smile on her face despite her sardonic tone. “How are you kids feeling?”
“Well, Penny’s still getting used to her new body,” Weiss admitted.
“Toes are weird,” Penny reported in a distant tone.
Ruby wrapped her arm tighter around her shoulders. “That they are, Penny,” she agreed fondly.
“Yang and Blake are still insufferably dense,” Weiss continued.
“Okay, that’s unfair!” Yang insisted. “I know I’m dense, but Blake--”
“Yang, you’re not dense!” Blake protested. “You’re one of the smartest people I know!”
May whistled. “Yeowch, I see what you mean. How about you, princess?”
“Honestly, I’m feeling unusually giddy. Not just for this whole situation, but for me personally.”
“Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re awake for fifty hours straight,” Joanna admitted. “You’re going to zonk out as soon as you hit a bed.”
“I expect as much.”
May shook her head. “Well, you kids have exceeded all expectations,” she assured them with pride.
“Not an uncommon occurrence for us,” Weiss replied.
“Smug little brats. So...” she nodded at the golden rod in her hand. “That it?”
“Indeed it is. The Staff of Creation, in compact form.” Weiss spun the object in her hand. “And it’s surprisingly less heavy this way. Chalk it up to magic, I guess.”
“Right.” May turned to the side. “Hey, Fiona! Got a sec?”
“One moment!” came the reply from a short woman. "You said you can’t find your dad?”
The child in front of her nodded hesitantly. “They tooks him up to Atlas when they was taking people up,” he said.
“Well a lot of those other portals come from Atlas,” the woman replied. “So it’s probably only going to be a few minutes, okay?”
“Okay...”
“My uncle here can look after you until then.”
The child looked up at the old man with badger paws, who gave him a gentle smile. “Okay,” he said, carefully settling himself in front of the man.
Fiona smiled, turning around and joining the rest of the group. “Okay, what’s--Kids!” She skipped over gleefully. “You did it--you have no idea how grateful everyone is!”
“Aha, well, it... it was nothing,” Ruby replied awkwardly. “We just did the best with what we had--”
Joanna clapped a hand on her shoulder. “You had nothing but each other and were up against two whole armies,” she pointed out bluntly. “One had magic and Grimm, the other was Atlas. And you somehow saved everyone. Accept the damn praise already.”
Ruby opened her mouth to protest, gave a look at Penny, and reluctantly let out a small laugh. “I... guess you have a point...”
May cleared her throat. “Anyway. We have an ancient magical artifact that needs to stay out of the wrong hands.” She tilted her head toward the Staff of Creation. “Fiona, if you would?”
“Oh! Right, right.” Fiona accepted the golden rod from Weiss, absorbing it with her semblance.
“Well,” Weiss said. “Glad that’s settled--”
“Whoa.”
Something about the word made the hairs on Weiss’s neck raise.
“What... wow.” Fiona seemed to sway a little, raising her arms. “This is incredible. I have tiny hands.”
“...Fi?” May gave her a concerned look. “You doing okay there?”
Fiona looked down. She raise a leg with an experimental expression, waving it around, before putting it back down. “Huh. I’ve never felt so attached to the ground before...”
“That’s... gravity,” Joanna said blankly. “It’s called gravity.”
“Huh. Really?”
Weiss frowned. “Fiona?” When the woman didn’t respond, she shared an awkward look with May. “Um.”
Blake sighed, kneeling down in front of the short woman. “Fiona, can you focus?”
The woman looked at her strangely. “...who’s Fiona?”
“Oooooooookay yeah, this--this is weird,” May said quickly. “Maybe we shouldn’t have given her the staff--”
“The staff?” Fiona looked up her. “Wait, do you mean my staff?”
“Your... Ambrosus?” Yang stared in utter disbelief. “Is that you?!”
“Well, of course!” Fiona put her hands on her hips. “Who else would I be?”
May looked around at the collection of sighs and groans team RWBY produced. “Okay, somebody want to clue me in to what the hell is going on?”
Weiss sighed. “Ambrosus is the spirit in the staff,” she explained wearily. “So I guess when Fiona used her semblance to absorb the staff, he came along with it and...” She waved a hand at the woman.
“Wait.” Fiona, possibly, held up a hand. “Absorb the staff?”
“Fiona’s semblance lets her store things,” Joanna explained. “We thought she’d keep it safe... we’ve never tried it with anything magical before.”
May took a deep, controlled breath. “Alright. Okay. So... can we fix this? Get Fiona back?”
Blake shrugged as she stood back up. “I think if we get the staff out of her
“Alright. Hey, Fi--Ambrosus.” May crossed her arms. “Can you get out of there?”
“Hmmm.” Ambrosus snapped Fiona’s fingers--or at least tried to. It took three attempts to make a successful snap. “Huh. Okay, there might be a problem, and that problem is I don’t have my powers in this body.”
“You don’t need to create the staff,” Penny pointed out. “You need to remove it from Fiona.”
“You did hear me just say I don’t have my powers, right?”
“Then use Fiona’s semblance.”
“...Doy!” Ambrosus brought Fiona’s hand to her head in a facepalm. “Ow! Huh.” The motion was repeated. “Is this what pain feels like?”
Penny nodded--and then frowned. “Hmm.” She brought her own hand to her head. “Ouch! Oh. Pain does feel different in this body.”
“Maybe we can test that out later in a more controlled environment,” Ruby said quickly, grabbing Penny’s wrist.
“Yeah,” May agreed, frowning as Ambrosus experimentally pinched Fiona’s skin. “Hey!”
“Hmm?”
“Out!”
“Right.” Fiona’s ear’s drooped... and then Ambrosus blinked. “Oh! Motile ears! Fancy!”
Blake sighed as the ears went up and down. “Focus...”
“Right, yes.” Ambrosus held out Fiona’s arms, staring at her hands in concentration. “Semblance. Semblance. Seeeem-blance. Hmmmmnnnnn. Aura, personal manifestation. Semblance. Okay. Any moment now. Definitely going to happen okay I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but nothing’s happening.”
May clutched at her hair. “What kind of ancient spirit are you?!”
“This is new for me too, alright?”
“Maybe you can’t use Fiona’s semblance because you aren’t Fiona,” Joanna suggested.
“That--huh.” Ambrosus nodded. “You know what, that just might be it.”
“Well... switch over and let her have control,” Yang offered. “Like Oz does, you know?”
“Huh. Okay, okay.” Fiona’s eyes shut, and Ambrosus took a deep breath. “Just have to focus inward. Hmmm. No, those seem to be automatic functions... no, that’s... oh, that’s an interesting memory... oh, hmm, closer... Oh!  There she is and--oh.”
“Oh?” May said. “What’s oh?”
“Oh is ‘she’s been cognizant this whole time,” Ambrosus replied awkwardly.
Weiss pinched her brow. “Of course. Just... give her control, already.”
“Right, right, yes. I am so sorry for the trouble, miss, I’ll just--”
One moment Fiona was casually rolling a hand as Ambrosus talked. The next she was stock still, standing in a position far to casual for her suddenly blank expression.
“...Fi?” May lowered her hands. “You, uh--?”
With perhaps a bit too much speed, the staff of creation reformed in Fiona’s hand. She shoved it into May’s grasp, taking a few deep breaths. “Oooookay, that was weird.” Her voice was shaky, but not quite panicking. “Freaky and weird and please never ask me to do anything like that again.”
“I am so sorry,” Ruby said quickly. “I--I swear we didn’t know--”
“I know you didn’t, you’re good kids, I’m just going to... cling to Joanna for a bit.”
May sighed as she watched Fiona wrap her arms around Joanna’s waist. “Yeah, that... yeah,” she said, clearly not able to find the words to express her frustration.
“You said it,” Yang replied.
Blake sighed. “Well... at least that’s one unexpected complication dealt with. I hope nothing worse happens.”
"Citizens of Mantle!
Everyone turned to see Cinder Fall flamboyantly flinging off a black cape into the void.
“Bring me the Winter Maiden,” she demanded. “Or face the infinite depths!”
Weiss groaned. “Of course.” She pulled out Myrtenaster. “Let’s just get this over with...”

15 for fear?
My last clear memory of my father was our arrival at the safehouse. I didn’t understand much of what happened that night so far, just that my father was afraid, very afraid, and that I had never seen him so much as flinch before. A four-year-old doesn’t ask many questions when a person she trusts to protect her is scared of whatever’s following you.
I’ve been back to that safehouse since I’ve grown up, and I’ve walked every step of it trying to remember what went on that night. It was an abandoned apartment, but I remember it being clean and sturdy, not the decrepit ruin it is today. After it was compromised, the Hunt cut off all resources to its upkeep. It wasn’t a valuable asset anymore, so they cut it off. Part of me, the part that’s bitter, tries to tell me that my father became a compromised asset to them, and so they cut him off, too.
I didn’t know any of that then, though. All I knew was that we went into a big building with lots of rooms. My mother cried and hugged me. I don’t know why I don’t remember her face all that clearly. Uncle Jack told me her name was also Miriam, and that was why I was called Eva, but for the longest time I just knew her as my mother, the woman who wept as my father, stronger and faster, carried me upstairs with my siblings in tow. The twins were herded into another room and told to stay put until our father got back, and then left while he continued upstairs with me. I don’t know if he made it back to them in time, or at all.
By this time it was probably the witching hour, and my scattered memories might be the result of me dozing off in my father’s strong arms. He must have let me sleep the first few minutes up the stairs, because when I remember him next, we were in a little room. He set me down long enough to pull open some loose boards in the floor, and then lay me down inside. I might have been crying. I don’t know. All I know is that when I tried to curl up into a ball, he stopped me.
“Shhh, shh, sh,” he said. “I know it’s late, Eva, but you can’t fall asleep yet, okay?”
He tried his best to smile as he cupped my face in his hand.
“Stay awake, okay, we’re going to get out of here. Just stay awake for me. I’ll be back for you. We’ll see each other again. ”
I must have asked, “Promise?” because he answered with a choke, “I promise.”
I don’t think my father was a liar, but with children of my own, I now know why he said that, even when he knew that he’d never come back. Even as he disappeared behind the floorboards he reset, and even as his footsteps creaked out of the room and the door closed behind him, he knew he wouldn’t come back.
But that promise that he’d come back gave me hope. It kept me waiting. I couldn’t fall asleep until my father came back. Every time I’d nod off, I jerked back awake, I can’t go to sleep until daddy gets back.
Now, you have to understand. These are old memories, the kind that you forget until you try to think about them too hard. I know they’re as real as my memories of yesterday- but for a long time, they were buried underneath a mix of fear and hope. I forgot that my father never came back to find me. But remembering it now, I grieve somebody I don’t even think I know. Not because he’s my father, but because he promised to come back, and I didn’t know better than to believe him.

Sometime during the night, when everyone else is asleep, Monty nearly drives off the road. You and Bellamy are the only two awake to witness it, both of you too wired to sleep. Though it’s not like you usually slept well anyways.
You force him to stop and climb into the back with the others, while Bellamy slides into the driver’s seat. You get into the passenger seat beside him, looking back over your passengers and making sure everyone is okay before you nod at him to continue.
The ride through Azgeda territory, back towards Arkadia, is more peaceful than any of your previous trips, despite your tension with Bellamy. You glance over at him, noting that he’s rigid in the driver’s seat, grip tight on the wheel, jaw tense with stress. You can tell he’s playing Raven’s words over and over in his mind, reminding him of the guilt he was already carrying. He senses you looking at him, and he turns to look at you quickly before looking back at the road. He takes in a breath like he’s about to say something, and you look away, out the window, scared that he might change his mind. “When you first told me you were cursed, I thought you were being dramatic. I didn't understand how someone could blame themselves for every bad thing in their life, whether they were responsible for it or not. And then I started to do the same thing.”
He pauses for a long minute, looking out at the road in front of him with an intense expression. “Seeing Shumway with you that night in the woods, and then me failing to protect you, it hit me that I had failed you. And then you got stabbed looking for Clarke, and you nearly died in Mount Weather because I made you stay, it hit me again that I failed you, and I swore I wouldn't let that happen again. And along came Pike. I was hurt and afraid to lose you, and Octavia, and I let him convince me that the Grounders were the problem. But like Octavia said, that’s no excuse, because people got hurt. The army, Niylah’s dad, Indra, Monroe, Lincoln, Octavia…”
He turns to look at you, and you meet his gaze. He softens a little, some of his stress melting away. “You. The two people I swore to protect no matter what, and all I did was hurt them both.”
“You were doing what you thought was best for us.”
“I was wrong.”
You shake your head. “But that doesn't change your intention, Bellamy. You and Pike are not the same, you know that, don’t you?”
He doesn't say anything, just glances your way, then back to the road, the muscle in his jaw shifting, and you realize he doesn't see a difference. “Pike is brutal and manipulative and power hungry, and he only has one goal in life, which is to kill Grounders. He thinks they’re heartless savages that need to be broken and put down, but you know that none of that is true. We have always had a complicated relationship with the Grounders, and I won't blame you for lashing out from fear. But I know you and I know your heart, and I know that you don't genuinely believe that all Grounders are monsters.”
“We’re all just doing what we need to do to survive, right? Us and the Grounders alike.”
You almost smile, remembering the conversation in the woods, the one he’s quoting back to you now. A conversation that feels so long ago, back before Mount Weather, and Pike, and an AI hell bent on taking over the world. You nod, still believing in your words. “Yeah. Doesn't mean anyone is right or wrong or good or bad for it. It just means we’re trying.”
He’s quiet, absorbing the conversation. Some of the tension has left his body, his posture relaxing slightly, and that brings you relief. Bellamy’s guilt won't disappear overnight, the same way he can't earn his forgiveness from the others overnight, but this feels like a step in the right direction.
-
When the sun rises high enough in the sky, and the others have woken up, Bellamy parks the rover in a field to let it charge. As him and Monty adjust the solar panels, getting them right, the rest of you spread out in the grass, passing around rations and chatting about nothing. Bellamy plops down beside you when they finish, and you pass him the package of nuts in your hands, which he takes with a quiet thank you.
Raven sits sandwiched between Clarke, who is checking over her wounds, and Sinclair, who refuses to let her out of his sight. Octavia is on your other side, quiet, watching the others, and Jasper and Monty sit across from you, side by side. Before Clarke settles back into the grass, she pulls out a small container, and slides the lid far enough back to check on the small chip inside. Satisfied that it’s in place, she pushes the lid closed again, and tucks it into her pocket, looking up and finding your eyes, which are watching her closely. You nod to her pocket. “How did you get it?”
“It’s the Flame. Each Commander gets it during the Ascension ceremony, and after death, it is removed for the next Commander. Lexa always talked about how her spirit would choose the next Commander and how she would never truly die, but I just thought she was talking about reincarnation. I didn’t know it would be an AI.” She takes in a shaky breath, steadying herself. “I was there when Lexa died, so I saw Titus remove it. When Ontari became the new Commander, he knew she couldn't have it, so he gave it to me, and told me to find Luna.”
Bellamy looks at her in confusion. “Why couldn't Ontari have it?”
“She murdered all the novitiates in their sleep so she could be the last one standing.”
“Holy shit.”
Raven shakes her head. “If the Grounder’s don't know that it’s an AI, how do they know what to do with it?”
Clarke reaches into her jacket, and pulls out a small notebook. “Because Becca left them instructions.”
Raven’s eyes light up, already reaching for it. “May I?”
Clarke passes her the notebook, and Raven opens it eagerly, already absorbed in Becca’s words. Clarke fills the rest of you in on everything that happened in Polis while the rest of you were in Arkadia dealing with Pike, and it’s almost hard to believe everything she’s telling you: a coup against Lexa, Lexa’s fight against King Roan, the murder of the Ice Queen. Finding the army, stopping Lexa from retaliation, Emerson being gifted to Clarke, Octavia arriving, Murphy arriving, Lexa’s death. And despite the dark subject matter, you can almost pretend that you’re all just a normal group of friends, laying out in the sun, catching each other up on your lives. You can almost forget that your people need to be saved. Again.
But Octavia is the first to remind you, and after checking on the rover and seeing the battery full, you know it’s time to go, so you all pile into the rover again, this time with you behind the wheel and Bellamy beside you, ready to make the last bit of the trip home.
-
You’re close to Arkadia when Raven finally looks up from Becca’s notebook, her voice full of awe. “Becca's journal is amazing. At 26, she found a pathway to access the human mind. That same year, she had to lock up Alie because her answer for what was wrong with the world was 'too many people'. She was 27 when it launched the bombs.”
You glance over at Bellamy, who is half turned in his seat, listening. Clarke asks, “What did she write about the Flame?”
“Alie 2.0. She saw it as a way to atone for her sins. She designed it to not just access a human mind, but to merge with one. It could never wipe us out because it would be one of us. She would put it in herself first, altered her genes so her body wouldn't reject the implant.”
Clarke hums. “Bekka Pramheda, the first Commander. The gene therapy made her blood black, didn't it?”
“Yeah.”
Octavia glances at Clarke in surprise. “How did you know that?”
“Nightblood, that's where it came from. Somehow, it became hereditary. Luna has it, which is why we have to find her, because if she can access Alie 2...”
“She can tell us how to stop Alie 1,” you finish for her.
Bellamy turns back to the front, and when he sees where you are, he tells the others, “Eyes sharp, weapons hot. We're almost home.”
You grab the radio, ready to warn the others. “Miller, come in.”
You receive no response, so you try again. “Harper, you there? Your ride's two minutes out.”
You are met with silence, and the heavy feeling of panic washes through you. You exchange a worried glance with Bellamy as Jasper muses, “Good start.”
When you reach the edge of the woods, Bellamy puts a hand on your arm. “Stop here.”
You stop the rover as he turns and looks at the others. “Monty, you take the wheel, Raven you’re up front with him. Jasper, you’re in the turret, and the rest of us are outside the rover, walking alongside it. I want eyes on all sides.”
No one argues, grabbing up their weapons and taking up their positions before Bellamy motions for Monty to drive the rover into camp, slowly. As you get closer, you can see that the gate is wide open, which Clarke also notices. “We left two days ago, why haven't they fixed the gate?”
“Maybe because there's no one here to fix it.”
As the rover rolls through the gate and into Arkadia, you are met with nothing but silence. No guards, no kids, no Pike, no Grounders, nothing. You feel a heavy pit in your stomach as you turn to Bellamy. “It's like a ghost town.”
Bellamy lifts his radio and asks, “Miller, where the hell are you?”
When he receives no answer, he turns to you, shaking his head. “I don't like this.”
“I don't either.”
Jasper looks around, then glances down at Bellamy. “Maybe they got chipped.”
“If they got chipped, they'd be waiting at the gate.”
“Maybe they saw the open gate, went in for Lincoln's book.”
Octavia glares up at him. “Maybe you should stop saying ‘maybe’.”
“If they’re chipped, then Alie already knows we're coming.”
Monty stops the rover on a small patch, allowing all of you to look around for any sign of something. Octavia walks over to your side of the rover, and she freezes in place beside you, causing you to look at her in alarm. You follow her gaze to the ground, finding a dark red stain in the mud. Blood. Lincoln's blood.
You swallow a wave of emotion, the sadness that threatens to rise to the surface, and Octavia never looks away from the spot as she snaps, “Let's get his book and get the hell out of here.”
“That's a plan I can support.”
Octavia runs back to the other side, and Clarke and Bellamy step up on either side of you, looking down at the blood stain. You whisper, “Lincoln.”
You can feel Bellamy tense up beside you, and he looks at the stain for a long second before he bangs on the back of the rover, signaling for Monty to keep moving. You all progress through the camp slowly, finding nothing as you maneuver the rover towards the hangar bay. Monty stops the vehicle inside before closing the door to the hangar bay quickly, leaving you all in partial darkness, the only light coming from the rover.
You all walk through the hangar bay slowly, in a tight group, weapons drawn, looking at the scene before you. Half eaten plates of food, card games abandoned mid play, projects left incomplete. Clarke looks around in confusion. “It's like they just got up and walked away.”
Bellamy looks at the others. “We're in and out. Pack as much gear as you can into the rover.”
“I'll get the map.”
Jasper nods towards Octavia’s already retreating figure. “I'll uh...go with her. Probably shouldn't be alone.”
Raven gets out of the rover, and joins your group. “What's the rush? They won't be coming back.”
You turn to her, unconvinced. “How do you know?”
“Alie’s mission is to chip everyone. It wouldn't make sense to return to a place she's already taken.”
Sinclair shrugs, “Might make sense if there was someone in that place, i.e. you, who could tell us stuff like that.”
“Good point. Let's load gear.”
You turn to Bellamy, “Armory?”
“I’ll go with you.”
You nod and open the hangar bay door just enough for you to both slip through, not wanting to walk through the dark halls of Arkadia. You head across the camp to the armory, grunting in annoyance when you try to open the door but find it locked. Bellamy steps towards you, motioning for you to move away, “Step back.”
You do as he says and watch as he kicks the door in, and motions for you to go in first. You lift your weapon and step inside, looking around for anyone hiding in the shadows, but when you find nothing, you holster it and head straight for the rifles. Bellamy follows behind and you both pull open the doors, finding almost every weapon left behind. As you start digging through the containers beneath the rifles, you almost laugh with relief when you find case after case overflowing with bullets. Bellamy smiles at you, feeling the same excitement as he lifts his radio. “Everyone finish what you're doing and meet us in the armory.”
Clarke is the first to answer. “Why? What's going on?”
“You'll see when you get here. We just got lucky.”
“On our way.”
You turn to Bellamy, and nod towards the guns. “We’re gonna need bags to carry all this. I’m gonna go grab some.”
“I’ll go with you.”
You shake your head, waving him off. “No, don’t worry about it, I’ll be fine. Just stay here and wait for the others, I’ll only be gone for a minute.”
“Radio if you need me.”
“I will.”
You walk out of the armory and head to the room where they keep most of the extra inventory, sure that they have bags laying around in there. When you reach the small room and step inside, you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand, though you don't know why. You look around in worry, searching the room for any sign of danger. You swear you see a shadow shift, and you reach for your gun, but before you can grab it, you’re knocked to the side.
You turn around in surprise and open your mouth to scream when you come face to face with a Grounder in a skull mask. They swing an arm around to punch you, the hit landing on your cheekbone, the same one left bruised by Gillmer, and your scream dies in your throat. Your survival instincts kick in, and you scramble to your feet, away from the Grounder. You reach for your gun, pulling it from your holster, but as you lift it towards them, they knock the gun out of your hand, sending it flying across the room.
You hear it slide across the ground and you use the distraction to close the space between you and the Grounder, swinging an elbow towards them, hitting them in the stomach. You hear the air leave their body in a whoosh, and they double over, grunting in pain, and you grab their head and pull it down towards your rising knee. You hear a crack as your knee makes contact with their face, and they pull away in pain, the move effectively removing their mask. You look up at the Grounder, surprised to see that it isn't a Grounder at all, but Emerson from Mount Weather.
“Of course you’d be the last Mountain Man.”
You drop the mask at your feet as he clutches his nose, blood rushing between his fingers. He shifts the bone, setting it back in place with a pop, before smirking at you. “You’re so much like your sister.”
For the first time in your life, the compliment chills you to the bone, because the information is not something that he should know. His smirk grows wider at the sign of your shock. “Imagine my surprise when I find out the great Wanheda has a weakness. A twin. Echo wasn't good for much, but she was good for that.”
You stand staring at him, trying to figure out what to do: run? Fight? Warn the others? You decide the the last option is the best, and you grab the radio from your belt with lightning speed, scrambling backwards as you rush out, “Bellamy, help-”
The rest of your plea is cut off when Emerson comes running at you full speed, crashing his body into yours, knocking you backwards and knocking the wind out of you. As you lay gasping for breath, Emerson gets to his feet and pulls you to yours, before spinning you around and wrapping his arm around your neck, trying to knock you out. You feel your feet lift off the ground and panic sets in as spots dance at the edge of your vision, unconsciousness on its way. The last thing you hear before the world goes dark, is Bellamy frantically calling your name over the radio, sounding worried.
-
The first thing you notice when you wake up is a growing ache in your shoulders. You pull your eyes open, and they land on your hands, tied to the wall above your head. A gag is pulled tight in your mouth, and you feel your anger grow. Someone to your right is trying to call your name, but it comes out muffled, and when you turn their way, you see Octavia, also chained to the wall, and also gagged. To your left you see Jasper and Raven, both chained up and sitting. Behind you, on the opposite wall is Miller, chained up like you and Octavia, and Monty, Harper, and Bryan are all chained like Jasper and Raven.
You feel relief flow through you when you don't see Clarke or Bellamy amongst you, but that relief is short lived. Emerson steps into the room, and for the first time, you realize you’re all chained up in an air lock. He walks over to you and pulls the knife from the holster on your thigh, before grabbing your hair and pulling your head back. You hear the others try to yell through their gags, but it’s nothing more than a symphony of muffled cries. Emerson uses the hand in your hair to turn your head to the door of the airlock, and seconds later Clarke steps into view, hands raised in surrender. You try to yell at her through your gag, urging her to turn around and run, save herself, but none of that comes out. Her eyes fall on you, face etched in worry before she moves her gaze over to Emerson. “I held up my part of the deal. Your turn, let my friends go.”
He lifts the knife to your throat, pressing the blade into your skin slightly. “Tell Bellamy to show himself first.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
You can see Emerson nod his head once, annoyed, and he abruptly turns and punches Octavia in the stomach. She doubles over with a cry of pain, and a second later, Bellamy appears from around the corner, gun raised, yelling, “No!”
“Okay now, take out the clip and throw it down the hall. Put the gun on the ground and get inside.”
You and Octavia both protest the best you can, yelling at him to turn around and run. When Bellamy takes too long to do as Emerson says, he steps away from you and grabs Octavia, yanking her head back and dragging your knife across the skin of her chest, cutting her. The sight of her blood is enough to send Bellamy into action. “Okay, okay! Just stop!”
He pulls out the clip and tosses it down the hall, before tossing the gun down the other. He slowly reaches down and discards his knife and radio the same way, before walking towards the airlock with his hands raised. Emerson nods to a third pair of cuffs on the wall, beside you. “Those are yours.”
Bellamy locks himself in place, and Emerson pushes Octavia away from him, stepping back. He pulls out a gun and lifts it, pointing it at your twin, “Get on your knees, Clarke.”
You start to struggle, trying to slip yourself from your cuffs. Beside you, Octavia is also trying to escape, using her feet to push off the wall and create tension on the cuffs. Both of you struggle to no avail, as Clarke sinks to her knees. Emerson yells, “Put your hands behind your head.”
She does as she is told, and he keeps the gun trained on her as he steps out of the airlock and presses a button, sealing the door closed. You feel your panic start to rise as he closes the space between himself and Clarke, and she starts to beg, voice sounding muffled through the thick doors. “No, you can do anything you want with me. Just let them go!”
He grabs her by the hair and pulls her to her feet, before he pushes her towards the door, pressing her face into the glass and forcing her to watch you. He lifts the gun to her head and wraps an arm around her throat, cutting off her airway, and you struggle harder, trying to free yourself.
“You murdered 381 people. You took the lives of my children, my brother, my friends. Did you really think that I would be happy with just one life in return, hmm?”
He loosens his hold slightly and Clarke struggles to breath as he pulls her back towards the control panel for the airlock. He presses a button and a red light starts to flash in the small space, the voice on the P.A. system announcing, “Airlock 5. Oxygen venting.”
Dread lands heavy on your stomach as you realize what he’s doing, killing all of you, and forcing Clarke to watch. He presses her up against the door again, giving her a front row seat, but you struggle to pay attention as the oxygen gets sucked from the room. Every one of you immediately starts to struggle for breath, and you pull hard against your cuffs, your fight or flight instinct kicking in. You can feel the metal biting into your wrists, breaking skin, blood already blooming there. You feel the burn in your lungs start grow, the lack of oxygen getting worse, making you feel heavy and useless.
The fight starts to leave you, and your body sags, all of your weight supported by the cuffs around your wrists. Bellamy and Octavia are in the same state, struggling to breathe, and you hear Octavia let out a desperate cry for Bellamy. You turn towards him, but he’s already looking your way, gaze flitting between his sister and you. You glance over at Clarke, watching as she struggles against Emerson, sobbing, before your gaze moves back to Bellamy again. Your body grows heavier with each passing second, until your legs can no longer support you, and you hang there, watching Bellamy.
His eyelids flutter close, the fight leaving his body, and yours do the same, the energy leaving your body at an alarming rate. You try to ignore the burn in your lungs as your body gasps for air, taking what oxygen it can as the rest is sucked out. You feel yourself start to lose consciousness, and you know it’s just a matter of time before you take your last breath. You feel regret that your relationship with Bellamy is still rocky, and that’s how it’ll end, with Bellamy full of guilt and acting distant. Just as the darkness starts to take over, leading you towards death, you suck in a deep breath of air, rich with so much oxygen it makes you dizzy.
You don't question it, you just sag against your restraints and pull in deep gasps of air, letting your senses return to you slowly. You feel hands brush over yours, and your cuffs are unlocked, releasing you. Someone catches you as your weak knees fail to support you, and lower you to the ground. You open your eyes and see Clarke in front of you, blood spread over her cheekbone, smiling in relief. You smile back and she pulls you in for a hug, bone crushingly tight, but you don't care. She pulls away and Bellamy is there next, pressing kisses onto your face and your hair as he checks you over.
Everyone stays in the airlock for a while, gathering oxygen and strength, before someone mutters, “Can we please get the hell out of our almost coffin?”
There’s a collective sound of agreement as everyone pulls themselves to their feet and trudges out of the airlock. Bellamy helps Octavia and Clarke helps you, and as you walk by Emerson’s body, you pull out of her grip and kneel down beside him. He looks terrible, blood dripping from nearly every orifice, and you ask, “What happened?”
“The Flame. If you take the Flame without Nightblood, the Flame takes your life.”
“Intense.” You shake your head, and start to dig through his pockets.
“What are you doing?”
You glance at your twin, before returning to your search. “Getting what belongs to me.”
You feel your hand close around the familiar handle, and you pull your knife from his jacket with a smile, before returning it to its rightful place in your thigh holster. Then you stand and follow the others back to the hanger bay, away from near death.
-
The drama of the night continues upon your return to the hangar bay, where you discover Sinclair’s body. Clarke bandages everyone’s wounds as Bellamy takes charge and directs half of the group to construct a funeral pyre in the center of camp, and the other half to go to the armory and start loading weapons so you’re ready for anything. You follow Bellamy and some of the others to the armory, but halfway through you notice him slip away. You sneak after him, watching as he slips out of camp, beyond the walls. You follow, keeping your distance, doing your best to stay quiet, but it's not long before Bellamy turns around and finds you in the shadows. “You’re not nearly as quiet as you think you are.”
“Damn.” You shrug and step out of the shadows, opting to walk at his side. You don't bother to ask where you're going, his demeanor clearly closed off and not open to conversation. You walk for a few minutes into the woods before Bellamy stops, and points at a strip of white fabric reflecting in the moonlight. As you walk closer to it, you realize it’s a body, and you have a sneaking suspicion of whose as you drop to your knees and pull back the fabric around the head.
Your eyes fall on Lincoln and your tears instantly start falling, mourning the loss of your friend, properly, for the first time since you witnessed his death. Bellamy lets you cry for a few minutes, kneeling beside you with an arm wrapped around you, until he whispers, “Grounders burn their dead.”
You understand what he means and you stand and step back, allowing him to lift Lincoln in his arms. You walk by his side as he carries him back to camp, and as you walk through the front gates, your eyes seek out Octavia. She’s kneeling with her back to you, loading up ammo, and Monty puts a hand on her shoulder to get her attention. Everyone turns your way as Bellamy carries Lincoln into camp, laying him down softly at Octavia’s feet.
She shifts over to Lincoln, pulling the fabric away from his face to see him one last time. A brokenhearted sob breaks free from her, and she starts to cry over her dead lover. There’s nothing the rest of you can do, other than watch on in sorrow, allowing her the chance to mourn. When her cries die down, she presses a kiss to Lincoln’s head and then steps back, allowing Bellamy to lift Lincoln and carry him over to the pyre, where Sinclair’s body is already waiting.
Bellamy puts Lincoln down on the other end, and the rest of you spread out around the pyre. You ready the torch and light it, passing it to Octavia. She waits, allowing Raven to say her goodbyes to Sinclair, and when she steps back, Octavia moves forward, lighting the pyre and stating, “Yu gonplei ste odon.”
Your fight is over. She steps away from the pyre as the fire spreads and the rest of you repeat the words as you watch the bodies catch fire. You reach for her hand and she lets you take it, accepting the comfort you offer. You stand there watching for a while, all of you lost in your own heads, quietly mourning the loss of Lincoln and Sinclair. It’s hard for you to accept the fact that Lincoln is really gone. He’s not just away looking for someone, or playing diplomat in a nearby village, he’s dead, lost to the rest of you forever, killed by a fascist asshole. You’ll never get to see him put Bellamy on his ass during a sparring session again, he’ll never finish teaching Trigedasleng. He’ll never offer you comfort when you’re hurting, or joke about how overprotective Octavia and Bellamy are. His body is in front of you, alongside Sinclair’s, overtaken by flames, as tradition states.
You can feel Octavia tense beside you, tucking away her sadness before she breaks the silence. “It’s time to go. I'll get the map.”
She abruptly turns and walks away, and when you and Bellamy lock eyes across the fire, you can see the concern in them. You give him a reassuring smile, your way of saying she’ll be okay, though you’re not sure if you believe it yourself. You feel a drop of water land on your forehead, and you look up just as more start to fall, the sky mourning Lincoln and Sinclair with you.
-
Everyone heads back to the armory, grabbing the discarded weapons and ammo and taking them back to the rover, loading everything as quickly as you can. Once everything is packed up, you all gather around the rover, and Bellamy looks at Raven, who looks like she’s going nowhere. “Hey, we're leaving. Why aren't you ready?”
“We're not going with you.”
Clarke starts to protest, “Raven-”
“I can barely walk and my shoulder's killing me, but my brain is all kinds of awesome.”
Monty looks at her with admiration. “She remembered that Alie downloaded herself into the Ark mainframe. If it's still there, we can find a back door.”
“I'm guessing once you connect Alie 2 to Luna, we'll need to find Alie 1 to take her down.”
Bellamy turns to Miller and gives him a serious look. “Miller.”
Miller motions between himself and Bryan. “We'll keep them safe.”
Harper smirks and points to them. “I'll keep them safe.”
Bellamy turns to Jasper. “How about you? It's gonna be dangerous.”
“You know me well. I'm in.”
He already knows he doesn't have to ask you, Octavia, or Clarke, because you were always in, no matter what. Everyone says their goodbyes, hugging and waving to each other as one group prepares to leave, and the other stays behind. Once the goodbyes are said and a chorus of “may we meet agains” has been exchanged, Bellamy walk to the drivers side and gets in. You take the passenger seat while Clarke, Octavia, and Jasper all get in the back.
As soon as everyone’s inside, you turn to look at them. “Ready to save our people?”
“Let’s do this thing.”

One Hell of a Birthday
Tumblr media
Bellamy Blake x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1728 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Bellamy patches up the reader after she gets attached and she ends up revealing that it’s her birthday
——————————————————————————————————
As a general rule, Bellamy told you that you weren’t allowed to go outside the camp alone. Everyone lived by that general suggestion, but for you it was more than that.
Bell knew that it could be really dangerous if you were attacked as you were unwilling to fight back, even if you absolutely had to. You didn’t believe in violence, and in a world like this, that could be deadly.
...And he was right.
You didn’t think it would mean anything, but when you chose to go down to the stream this morning on a walk, you unknowingly walked right into a trap which would result in the worst few hours of your life.
You were gone for a little while by the time anyone noticed but when Raven realized you were late to help her get some work done, she went straight to Bellamy. Of everyone, he would be the most likely to know what to do.
The trouble was, by the time they managed to track down where the grounders you’d run into left you, you were pretty banged up. Which resulted in Bellamy losing his mind as soon as he saw you there, sitting up against a large tree, shaking lightly.
His first instinct was to yell at you, or reprimand you in some way for going against his very clear order of staying within the walls of the camp. However, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. After everything you’d clearly already been through, it wasn’t your fault.
Obviously you hadn’t been anticipating this when you left this morning.
“Y/N, what happened? Are you okay?” he checked, doing everything in his power to stay calm as he swept you up in his arms, not even bothering to give you a chance to answer his question. There wasn’t time for any kind of small talk, not when he didn’t know what had happened.
For all he knew, the thing or things that had attacked you were still out here and as much as he wanted someone to pay for doing this to you, it wasn’t going to do any good in the shape you were in.
Nothing else was more important than getting you all patched up right now in Bellamy’s mind.
“I just wanted to walk by the river, but these guys came out of nowhere” you allowed, doing your best to finish your train of thought, even though it was much harder than it should have been. It had all come out of nowhere, and you were surprised you were even alive right now.
Based on everything you knew about Grounders in the past, they should have killed you...but for some reason, you were still here and you didn’t really want to ask why.
Really, you just wanted to go to bed.
“Okay, it’s okay now. I’m here” he tried, his voice calm and soft as he held you close to his chest, only struggling a tad with the rough terrain he was carrying you over. He had been down this trail plenty of times, but not in such haste.
He wanted to get you back to camp as soon as possible to make sure that you weren’t bleeding out or concussed or something. As far as he could tell, you would live, but Bellamy wouldn’t know for sure until he got the okay from Clarke.
She was the only person he would accept something like that from, especially where you were concerned.
It was at about this time that Bellamy started to really wonder how much he cared for you. However, he kept that thought as far from the front of his mind as possible, only focusing on making sure you were safe.
Nothing else could be at the top of that list right now.
~
“So she’s gonna be okay?” Bellamy repeated, just out of earshot from where you were laying inside the infirmary, talking to Clarke. He had been so frantic coming in that she actually had to force him into a chair before he started explaining what had happened.
Though, she got the half of it just by what you two looked like coming through the door, your plump frame held in close to his chest just before he set you down. He had that look on his face, that look she only ever saw where you were concerned.
...She knew what to expect from that moment on.
“She’s going to be fine Bellamy, but you might want to wish her a happy birthday. I don’t think anyone has yet” she winked, knowing that was what you were doing by the stream in the first place.
You had been trying to keep it a secret from the rest of the hundred, but Clarke knew you well enough to remember your birthday. Though, that also meant she knew you well enough to know that you wanted to keep it a secret.
Not that she cared right now. She knew how much you and Bellamy cared for each other, it was obvious, so maybe that little push would be enough for you to finally admit it.
Now, the news of your birthday was just that to Bellamy.
It had been quite some time since any of you really thought about celebrating your birthdays and you probably thought that wasn’t at the top of anybody's priority but that wasn’t the case at all. If only he had known, Bell could have orchestrated a whole feast in your honor.
Nothing would be too small.
However, since he had just now found out, nothing was in the works and to top it off, you were sitting in the infirmary, bleeding from various scrapes and bruises. That just couldn’t stand, not when there was still daylight left.
If Bellamy had anything to say about it, he was going to make this the best birthday possible, even if it was a little late.
“Not much of a birthday present huh? You’d think the grounders would have better manners” he teased, entering the room once again, that same swagger in his walk that he couldn’t get rid of, even if he was around you.
It was part of who he was, and it was one of the things you loved about him.
Not that you would ever admit that to him.
In all the time that you had known him, you had really cared for Bellamy and those feelings had only grown since being on the ground. However, you could hardly focus on that once you realized what he said.
Briefly, you were confused until you saw Clarke in the doorway, that smirk on her face that told you she was to blame...and you weren’t surprised. You and Clarke were friends, and you loved her but right now, you could have kicked her butt.
“She told you?” you grumbled, wishing that you had never told Clarke Griffin you even had a birthday. It just wasn’t something she was capable of keeping to yourself, and you were having to deal with that now.
Bellamy grinned, catching on pretty quickly to the added fact that was supposed to be kept from him. It made him happy to know that he was now part of something in which you were involved, even if he shouldn’t have been.
It made him feel closer to you, especially knowing that no one else knew other than Clarke.
“Yeah, she did. Why wouldn’t you tell me? We could have set something up” he wondered, only half kidding as he watched you grimace at the suggestion. That would have been awful, especially considering all the other things you could focus on.
This wasn’t the arch, this was the ground, the harsh-mutated planet and the least of your worries was the day you were born.
Not that Bellamy shared in that opinion.
“I didn’t think it was important” you shrugged, knowing that he wasn’t going to accept that. In all the time that you’d known Bellamy, he had never been all that inclined to change his opinions, and that wasn’t about to change now.
To be honest though, Bell had already moved on to something different. He had an idea, but he was going to make sure that you were on board first with that kind of thing. Bellamy very clearly had feelings for you, but it wouldn’t mean anything if you didn’t reciprocate.
“I think it is. That being said, I didn’t have time to plan anything but I do have a gift for you if that’s okay?” he suggested, trying his best to be smooth though he was too nervous to really keep it together.
It should have been a suave line that would knock your socks off, but instead, that was what came out of his mouth.
...Because of course it was.
You could tell that he had something up his sleeve, but you had no idea what he was really alluding to. Though, before you could really think about it, Bellamy took your hand in his own and shifted ever so slightly to get closer to you.
“Can I kiss you?” he hummed, his voice low and nervous as he tried his best to keep his cool. You thought he was so confident and casual all the time, but this was a side of Bellamy you had never had the pleasure of witnessing.
You just couldn’t believe this was happening.
However, you weren’t opposed to what he was suggesting, even though you had never kissed anyone before. Though to be fair, it wasn’t because you had never really had an opportunity on the arch, with the whole juvenile delinquent thing.
You kept to yourself mostly, not that the history in that was keeping you from enjoying it now. After all, this was Bellamy and if there was anyone you wanted to have your first kiss with, it was him.
“Yeah, I think that would be okay” you replied, trying to prepare yourself mentally for what was going to happen.
As soon as Bellamy’s lips met your own, you felt more than you thought ever possible, in the best way. It was like fireworks erupted inside you, shocking you all at once, but you weren’t going to complain. It was incredible.
So, needless to say, it was a pretty good birthday, even with the rough start you had been through.

Season 3a; Episode 4: Unleashed
Pairings: Scott McCall x Twin Sister, Lydia Martin x Best Friend, Isaac Lahey x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 2,277
Season 3a masterlist
The next morning Lydia and I both took our time getting ready, "You are not wearing jeans."
I stop pulling up my pants looking at Lydia with wide eyes, "What? Why not?"
"You said Isaac is coming back to school today. That means you need to look extra cute."
"I'm pretty sure 'looking extra cute' to him would mean going to school nude and that's illegal."
She rolls her eyes but can't hide the smile that falls onto her lips. She moves to her closet and pulls out a plaid skirt. "Put this on. Keep the shirt and jacket that you brought." She paused looking through her drawers, "Knee high socks and your shoes."
I playfully roll my eyes but do as she says.
"Better?" I ask.
She smiles and nods, "Much."

I sat next to Isaac in Mr. Harris' physics class. I pull out my notebook to take notes but before class even begins I involuntarily let out a pained gasp. Isaac and Scott immediately looked at me in concern. "What's wrong? Are you okay?" Isaac whispers.
I nod, "Mr. Harris?" I call out raising a hand. Once he turns and looks at me I continue, "Could I go to the nurse?"
He nods, "Quickly, Miss McCall." I nod and jump out of the seat. Instead of going to the nurses office though I head to the closest bathroom and lean against the wall clutching my stomach.
I pull out my phone and call Derek. He doesn't answer which is what confirmed to me that something was wrong. I hastily put my phone away and push off the wall. I leave the bathroom and quickly start to make my way out of the building.
"Miss McCall, where do you think you're going?" A voice stops me.
I cringe, "Oh... uh. This isn't the way to the nurses office?" I try to smile at the secretary who stopped me from leaving.
She raises an eyebrow, "Lunch detention Miss McCall. Get back to class."
I stiffly nod and head back to class. As I sit back down I notice Isaac looks rather angry. "What happened?" I whisper, eyebrows knitting together in concern.
"I got lunchtime detention for something I didn't even do."
I sigh, "At least we'll be together then."
Scott leans forward at my words, "What did you do?"
"The secretary caught me trying to leave the school."
 *_*_*_*_*_*
Once class got out Isaac, Scott and I headed towards Isaac's locker. "Okay, so why were you trying to leave the school?" Scott asks.
"I think Derek is in danger. Or at least was. I don't have any more pain." Isaac looks at me with worry evident in his eyes. I lay my hand on his arm and gently give it a squeeze, "Don't worry. I'm sure he's fine. It's Derek afterall. I don't know if you met the guy but he's too stubborn to die."
This coaxes a smile out of both Isaac and Scott. Scott then turns to Isaac, "Don't let the twins bother you. If all they want right now is to piss you off, then don't give in. They're just trying to get to you."
"Not just me." Isaac replies, looking at something over mine and Scott's shoulders.
We both turn to see what he's looking at. I sigh seeing Aiden with Lydia. "I'll warn Lydia. No promises that she'll listen to me though."
Once Aiden steps away from Lydia, Scott turns his attention back to Isaac and I. "What?" He asks looking at Isaac.
"Now they're getting to you." He simply replies.
Isaac and I turn to head to lunch detention. Once in the room I spot Allison and make my way towards her. Isaac hesitantly followed me. "Hey." I greet quietly.
She gives me a small smile, "Hey."
Harris turns away from the board and points to the first two students, "The two of you will wash all of the boards on this wing." He moves to the next three students, Allison being in this group, "You three will re-shelve the library."
Harris then turns to Isaac and me, "Restocking the janitor's closet."
Once dismissed Isaac and I make our way to the janitor's closet. We quietly start restocking the shelves, our elbows accidently knocking into each other, "Sorry." He says.
"Are you alright?" I ask, hearing his heart beat rapidly.
"Just not big on small spaces." My eyes widen at the realization.
"Shit Isaac. I totally forgot. Let's go tell Harris, maybe he can put you somewhere else."
He shakes his head, "I'll be fine I just have to focus on something else."
"Okay, well, let's talk about something then." I turn to continue restocking the shelves.
"Like what?"
"Um, I don't know." I pause thinking, "How about where you want to go on our date?"
"We're going on a date?"
"Well only if you want to." I start to blush, happy that it's dark in the closet.
He doesn't get the chance to reply because the sound of the door clicking shut catches our attention. We share a nervous look then Isaac reaches for the knob, turning it. He tries pushing it forward but the door doesn't budge.
"Maybe it locks from the outside?" I suggest.
"Or something's blocking it." He says, trying to push the door open once more. He steps back and starts breathing heavy.
"Isaac, let me call for help." Instead of listening to me he shoves his shoulder into the shoulder, desperately trying to open the door.
He lets out a frustrated shout, his breath comes out more and more ragged. "Isaac." I try again to get his attention. When he ignores me once more I finally grab his shoulder and turn him around.
His eyes start glowing yellow as his chest rises and falls with his breaths. I instantly reach up gently grabbing his face between my hands and pulling him down into a kiss.
He sucks in a breath at the contact. After a brief moment his hands tightly grip my hips, pulling me closer. His lips start to move against mine, all thoughts of the small space leaving his mind.
I slowly pull away and open my eyes. Isaac keeps his eyes closed as he rests his forehead on mine. "Better?" I quietly ask.
"Yeah. Thank you."
I smile and tilt my head up to kiss him once more. As I pull away I reach my hand into my pocket to pull out my phone. "Let me call Scott." Isaac nods but doesn't release the tight grip on my hips.
"Hey Scott? Isaac and I need you to get us out of the janitor's closet."
"Be right there." Once the door is open we all eye the soda machine that was pushed in front of the door. "They want to get someone hurt. We just got lucky that it was you two together."
"So are we going to do something?" Isaac asks.
"Yeah. I'm going to get them angry. Really angry."
 *_*_*_*_*_*
Scott and I quickly hurry into Ms. Blake's English class. Scott grabs the seat next to Ethan and I sit behind him, next to Aiden. Ms. Blake starts talking as Scott and I give them both bright smiles.
Scott and I reach into our bags to pull out our books. I then wait for Scott to take out one of the motorcycle parts. He reaches into his bag and pulls out one of the parts. He sets it down on his desk with a clunk, "That looks kinda important."
Both Ethan and Aiden sit up in alarm. I then reach down and pull out another motorcycle part, "I have no idea what this is ." I innocently flutter my eyelashes at Aiden as he starts clenching his jaw.
His head swivels around to face the hall, "Aiden, wait-don't!" Ethan tries to get his twin to stop. Scott turns around to look at me, both of us smirking.
The students and Ms. Blake all move to the hall as the sound of the motorcycle fills the halls. Isaac and Allison move to join Scott and I. We make sure to stand right behind Ms. Blake so we get a good view of the twins.
Ms. Blake instantly starts speaking when her eyes land on Aiden and his motorcycle, "You've got to be kidding me. You know this is going to result in a suspension?"
Scott, Isaac, Allison, and I all start to smile wider at Ms. Blake's statement.
 *_*_*_*_*_*
After school lets out I feel a buzz in my pocket. I reach in grabbing my phone. It's a text from Lydia telling me to meet her in the music room. "Hey, what's going on?" I ask as I spot Lydia standing by the piano.
She gestures to the instrument so I walk over to look. On the top are bloody scratch marks dug into the wood. My mouth falls open in shock. "Stiles is on his way too. Also why didn't you tell me about the twins?"
"I was going to. I just didn't realize that they were Alpha's until today. How did you find out?"
"Stiles told me when he was talking about the human sacrifices."
I nod but don't get the chance to answer as Stiles and Dr. Deaton walk into the room. "Okay, now that you're all here, listen to this."
Lydia hits a button to play a recording that the music teacher made before he was taken. After listening for a few minutes Deaton reaches over to stop the recording, "Can we get a copy of this?"
Lydia takes the tablet to open a browser and download the file to send to Deaton. Stiles and I start looking around the room to try and find anything that could potentially be helpful.
"Doc, any help would be very - you know - helpful." Stiles speaks up.
"Each grouping of three would have its own purpose, its own type of power. Virgins, Healers, Philosophers, Warriors."
"Wait. Warriors? Could that be like a soldier?"
"Absolutely."
I stop searching to turn my attention to Stiles. He pulls out a picture of the music teacher and his wife. The teacher is in an Army uniform. "Kyle was in Junior ROTC with Boyd."
"That's got to be it. That's the pattern. Where's Boyd?" Deaton asks.
"Home by now. I'll call him." Stiles pulls out his phone.
"Lyds? What's wrong?" I ask, breaking her from her thoughts.
"I just thought of someone else with a military connection."
"Who?" Stiles questions, lowering his phone.
"Well, you should know especially."
"Me?"
"It's been there on his desk the whole time."
That's when it clicks, "Harris. He has the West Point honor code sitting on his desk." I say.
We all exchange looks of concern then rush to Harris' classroom. When we make it to the room Harris is nowhere to be seen. "Alright, this is just one of many possibilities. He could've simply left for the day." Deaton says, looking around the room.
Stiles walks towards the desk and picks up Harris' briefcase, "Not without this." He sets it back down, eyes staying on the papers on Harris' desk. He picks one up tilting his head in confusion.
"What?" Deaton and I ask at the same time.
"This test is graded R."
Lydia and I move forward. Lydia picks up another test, "This one is H."
Deaton steps next to us, he moves some of the papers around, spelling a word with the grades. "Stiles, remember I told you Druid is the Gaelic word for Wise Oak?"
Stiles nods so Deaton continues, "When a Druid went down the wrong path, the Wise Oak was sometimes said to have become a Dark Oak. There's a Gaelic word for that as well..."
He trails off, stopping when he has the word spelled out, "Darach."
 *_*_*_*_*_*
Making our way out of the school Stiles turns to me, "You want a ride?"
"Yeah, actually could I come over?" Stiles nods. We make our way over to his jeep and he opens the passenger door for me. "Thanks."
"Welcome." He closes the door then walks over to the driver side, "So, not that I mind but why did you want to come over?"
I sigh, "I know we kinda have a lot going on right now but I promised Lydia I would try to figure out what she was and was hoping you would help me do some research." I awkwardly smile at Stiles waiting for him to reply.
He quickly glances at me, "Yeah sure. It's probably a good idea to take a step back from this for a little bit anyways."
My smile grows and I quickly lean up placing a kiss on Stiles cheek, "Thanks you’re the best!"
Stiles starts blushing, "Uh yeah, no problem."
Once we made it to his room, we threw our bags on the ground and he made his way to his computer.  "Alright, so I'm not sure exactly how to determine what she is but from my limited knowledge on all things supernatural I was thinking that she's either a phoenix or a banshee. Both are associated with death and that's really the only clue we have so far."
Stiles nods and starts his search. He prints out anything he can find on both creatures then we start our long search, highlighting any information we find that could relate to what has been happening to Lydia.
At some point in the night both of the teens fall asleep, papers scattered around them on the bed.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting slowly uncomfortable with the fact that Ruby is still trying to act like everything happen was not her fault or a result of her poor judgement. Dor example, when Penny brought up Ironwood and team RWBY's disagreement. Ruby look generally surprised that Penny was even thinking about Ironwood. It is lowkey, Team RWBY ruined that the alliance with Ironwood fell apart in the first place. Even Oscar apologized about confronting Ironwood alone. But I don't feel any ounce of sorriness from Ruby about how bad this situation has gotten. This situation ia only going to worse now that Oscar is gone. I firmly believe Penny will betray them or disappear and try to confront Salem on her own as a sacrifice but it will be futile. It just seems Team RWBY made so mistakes and lied so much...
...What I personally don’t get is why are folks (fans as well as the actual characters within the show) placing all the blame for the heroes divorce from working with the General and the Atlesian Military on Ruby Rose and Ruby Rose ONLY while ignoring the all-important that detail that it was in fact the actions of Yang Xiao Long (and by extension Blake Belladonna) that landed the group in hot water and not really what Ruby did.
Don’t get me wrong anon-chan. You are correct in the fact that Ruby’s choice to deceive the General was the first mistake the heroes made and while I agree that Ruby does deserve to be pulled up for that failed leadership choices, she isn’t the only person meant to be on trial here for the repercussions of their mistakes. Are we forgetting that the bit about the heroes choosing to lie and withhold the truth about Salem was all brought to light before the General and ironed out by Oscar?
Tumblr media
Are we forgetting that back in RWBY V7CH9---after the others left to go assist in the evacuation down in Mantle with the Ace Ops, Oscar and Ironwood had a discussion where not only did the little prince shed light on the truth about Salem but he also explained the rationalization behind the group’s choice to withhold such information from the General for so long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Ironwood called out RWBY in his office in V7CH11, it wasn’t for their choice to withhold the truth about Salem---it was actually regarding how Robyn Hill learned about the Amity Project. A secret that was revealed to the Happy Huntress by Yang and Blake in V7CH7 and as far as I’m aware of, the Bees never informed the others about what they had done on the night of the ambush.
Tumblr media
We got no scene afterwards that confirmed this (at least to my recollection). Not even during the brief meeting between RWBY and Oscar at the start of V7CH8. As far as the audience is aware, Yang and Blake acted on their own to reveal the Amity Project to the Happy Huntresses and failed to alert the others.
And in reviewing the episode where this happened (V7CH7)---I noticed that it was actually Yang who made the call to reveal the truth to Robyn since Blake looked to her for approval first before spilling the beans to Robyn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So essentially Yang is to be held responsible for relaying the Amity Project to the leader of the Happy Huntresses…and then choosing to not tell the rest of the team?
Tumblr media
This is what has been bugging me about the showrunners’ choice to have Yang be the one to call out Ruby for her mistakes in leadership. This presents Yang as a hypocrite in my eyes since in my opinion, she has no right to pull up Ruby while ignoring that she herself is responsible for the group losing their alliance with the Military.
Let me say this again---it was NOT Ruby’s choice for the group to deceive the General about Salem that caused their inevitable rift. It was Yang’s choice for her and Blake to tell the Happy Huntresses about Amity. THAT is what Ironwood called RWBY out for last season. And let me also remind you of the detail that while the WHOLE team knew about Ruby’s choice, NO ONE else other than Blake knew about Yang’s (as far as I know).
So yeah, while I agree with you on your lack of sympathy towards Ruby right now since she does deserve to have her leadership questioned, at the same time, I hate that all the blame is being slapped on Ruby’s shoulders when it isn’t entirely her fault. Yang is ALSO responsible yet she gets a slap on the wrist by the PLOT. Nah son! I’m not liking this angle at all.
Ruby deserves to be called out yes, but someone NEEDS to tell off Yang too and pull her up too. From where I’m standing, both sisters screwed up and got the group in trouble. So I’d like for someone to confront Yang too and at the moment, I’m banking on it being Blake since, judging by the first episode, she didn’t look too keen on what Yang said to Ruby by calling out her leadership. Not to mention that when the teams divided, Blake sided with Ruby and NOT Yang which, to be me, is very interesting. So I’m hoping this leads to Blake standing up for Ruby in the event of another confrontation and blame game, leading to the Belladonna girl telling off Yang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I understand the show has been “strengthening” the bond between the Bees since V6 (as a result of the story potentially leading into the two huntresses being paired up romantically) however I would have mad respect for the writers if, not only did they have Blake be the one to reprimand Yang for her poor choices but additionally if that leads into the two girls finally discussing their relationship and all the things that was left unsaid between them from seasons ago since Blake’s return.
Not saying this will occur. Just saying that if it did, I’d have nothing but mad respect for the writers for this bit of good development between the Bees.
As for Penny P---I agree with you on the possibility of Penny betraying the heroes. If her option for her to surrender over the Staff of Creation to Salem in exchange for her kingdom’s salvation wasn’t a clear as day red flag then I don’t know what is. It’s as blunt as a bullet to the foot, m’dude.
Tumblr media
It is very evident with her expressions and mannerisms that Penny is emotionally stunted by the tension between the two hero factions (our heroes and the Atlesian Military) with whom she shares affiliation with. It’s like watching a child suffer through their parents going through a bitter divorce and custody battle knowing fully well that things aren’t okay while simultaneously being assured that all will be well (when it isn’t and probably won’t be in the end given the tone of the opening and season thus far). Ruby and General Ironwood---the two core leaders of both hero factions---are like the dysfunctional parents in this scenario and Penny, as the party member who is linked to both of them, is being forced to choose a side. At least, that’s how it felt when Ironwood contacted Penny.
Again it’s like watching a child in a dysfunctional family where one parent is forcing them to choose between the other while ignoring the child’s feelings in this predicament. It’s all there. In this moment, Penny is like a child. Even the way she’s been talking to everyone feels more child-like and innocent than usual.
And Ironwood giving Penny the guilt trip by placing the fall of Mantle in her hands---it is such a manipulative move. I hate it for what it’s doing to Penny right now in the show but I love it at the same time for what it could eventually lead into for her character and arc later in the story.
The point I’m trying to make here is that I do think Penny will betray everyone in the end. Without a doubt. Given the beef between both sides, I feel as if we’re likely to see Penny ultimately chose to take matter into her own hands---disowning BOTH sides and choosing to do things HER way out of what SHE felt was best for EVERYONE.
In the beginning, Penny started off on Ironwood’s side with the Military (mainly) back in V7. Then in V8, she’s with RWBY and the others. However I think in the end, Penny will revoke her alliance with both sides of heroes, deeming them all unfit to lead and help anyone right now; essentially holding their current squabble accountable for the tragedies of both Atlas and Mantle (which…she wouldn’t be wrong for saying).
And thus, this will culminate in Penny doing the very, very stupid---I mean gullible thing she said she would do. The thing everyone warned her not to do. For this squiggle meister’s perspective, I’m anticipating that Penny will probably betray RWBN to side with Ironwood just so she can be given access to the Staff of Creation in the Vault of the Winter Maiden. Then once the Staff in revealed, Penny will then betray Ironwood and take the Staff to Salem as a bargaining chip for Atlas’ salvation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From here, she will either be destroyed again---killed on the spot with the Winter Maiden powers going straight to Cinder or…who knows, maybe there’ll be another twist in there where Penny is kept alive to be made into Salem’s Maiden of Magic in place of Cinder Fall who she’ll probably end up punishing yet again for her insolence (since we’re probably going to see Cinder defy Salem again due to her greed). Or perhaps…Penny 2.0 has always been a pawn of Salem since her rebirth and has been unknowingly playing our heroes---both sides---like a fiddle since the get-go. Or something like that. That’s how I’m seeing it. But this is just my thoughts on that.

RWBY Volume 8 Chapter 10 Review/Remix
WHAT the ever loving FUCK was that just now RT?? You give us several great answers and scenes we really wanted to see, and then rip all that joy away in the last 3 minutes!!! I want to sue for emotional damages, but I really can’t be mad cuz it’s very masterful writing on their part. After years of shows doing redemption arcs we finally have it... the bastardization arc~
We open, perhaps to the disappointment of some, on Ironwood staring out the windows of his office at the battlefield and city in turmoil below. He’s being given a situation update on the destruction of the cellblock two episodes back, and he takes the news a little differently than might have been expected (read: worse). Jacques apparently stayed right where he was and let himself be put back into custody, while Qrow avoided much harm by being a bird and ending up in a spot where the rubble wasn’t landing directly on him. Robyn was only slightly lucky, she was under some large debris but doesn’t seem terribly hurt and is actually conscious when Atlas soldiers uncover her and say she’ll be moved to a new cell elsewhere. Qrow isn’t about to be put back in a cage though, and flies right at the soldier who finds him. Behind a conveniently placed piece of wall he turns back and, as I was somewhat praised for phrasing it in a discord chat, he tackled that man as a man. We can assume he knocks out the guy about to apprehend Robyn, and the two make a getaway. Ironwood doesn’t like this news one bit, though he focuses more on recapturing the two huntsmen he had arrested on paranoid treason charges than the actual war criminal he lost an arm catching whose dangerous work on the city of Mantle still hasn’t been undone. Not cool, dude. He yells at the soldiers who had come to report this, and they leave to try and find the jailbirds. He stares out the window again in contemplation and tries to calm down a little before turning on his earpiece to get an update on the status of some thing or another, probably the bomb, when something massive happens.
With a blinding flash and an array of gold and green, Oscar’s staff goes off with whatever he was charging up. It’s as bright and forceful as you’d expect a nuclear bomb to be, and it knocks Winter and the Ace Ops off their feet as they were heading towards Monstra lugging their own bomb. Weiss and Nora see it from Schnee Manor, and it seems to do a real number on the Grimm around Monstra and in the city. Rooster Teeth had to give a flashing lights warning at the start of the episode for those it would adversely affect, and I can totally understand why after the crazy display this gave us. When the light fades and the noise settles, Monstra has been snapped and is fading away to dust, and in that dust cloud we hear and barely see Neopolitan skipping away with the Lamp in hand. What a little punk... Winter gets back on her feet and is quick to ask her squad for their status, she doesn’t want to have lost anyone or suffered serious wounds from whatever the hell they just saw/felt. No one is hurt, though Elm’s ears seem to still be ringing. But Marrow is very distressed, realizing they still hadn’t heard back from Jaune and the others and they may have been killed in that blast. Nobody has anything to say that would appease him, so they stay silent. Vine tries to put a reassuring hand on Elm’s shoulder but she brushes him off. Guess after they got called out by Ren she wants to show even less emotion and sentimentality than before. Ironwood contacts them under the false assumption this was the result of their bomb, and requests they return to HQ for an update on the new problem he wants to deal with. Marrow naturally points out that the destruction wasn’t their doing, and Winter decides that will be news best delivered in person, so they load the bomb back on the airship and take off.
Cutting into the city, we see Watts and Cinder viewing the destruction of their mobile HQ from a distance. Nobody is returning Cinder’s calls but they know Salem will be back so Watts suggests they come up with a plan in the meantime. But Cinder is fully confident that they can still do what they originally intended, that being having her kill Penny and take the Winter Maiden powers after Watts brings the synthezoid to her. But this was a plan made under false assumptions, because apparently she misunderstood the terminology in his message and thought he could puppeteer Penny to go wherever he demands when really he just laid a new prime directive to send her straight to the Vault as we saw two episodes back. Hearing this pisses Cinder off immensely, especially the part about Penny being set to self destruct as soon as the Vault is open since that means the next recipient of the powers will be randomized again and she’ll have lost her chance to yoink them. Watts is too busy grumpily musing to himself about Penny having free will and a spirit that doesn’t want to succumb to his leet hacks to notice Cinder growing more and more enraged, until he turns around and she pulls him in close to yell at him. But Watts is having none of that, he works for Salem not her, and his plans weren’t made to give this flaming whining goth what she wants every single time. He’s just supposed to get the Vault open for Salem, and this is how he’s doing that. This is not the kind of answer Cinder wanted to hear, and she stretches her arm out to shove Watts to the edge of the roof and leave him on the verge of falling over to his demise. He doesn’t seem terribly fazed, calling her bluff and saying her mission was to bring him back and Salem won’t be a bit pleased if he dies. But you know what Salem is not? Here right now to stop Cinder from dealing with this arrogant self righteous prick once and for all. So she fully intends to drop him and then tear up Atlas on a fiery path to the Vault where she can intercept Penny and steal the Winter powers before tearing her to pieces herself and being the triumphant follower getting everything done that Salem really needed. And Watts just... laughs. Chris Sabat must have had a great time in the VO booth for this one, because he gets to have an absolute roast session the likes of which he hasn’t delivered since Majin Vegeta tore that clown Kakarot a new one. Naturally Cinder’s plan would be to brute force her way to victory and get glory for none but herself with her every whim satisfied along the way. Because that’s always her plan. And it always fails. She tried to storm Fria’s hospital room like that and got her ass handed to her by some teenagers and a dying woman before Penny took the powers before she could. She did the same damn thing 2 Volumes ago when she tried to massacre all her enemies under one roof in an alliance with a woman she thought she could outwit, but ended up blindsided by a surprise Maiden reveal and almost died while her outnumbered forces were on the verge of surrendering without her. And did anyone warn her not to do that? YES! WATTS DID!!! WATTS IS ALWAYS RIGHT, YOU FOOL!!! Well, okay, he’s really not. But he’s more clever and meticulous so he saw the flaws her arrogance left her blind to. And then Watts really tears into her by saying she isn’t smart, she isn’t worthy, and she isn’t entitled to what she wants because she’s suffered in the past. The one thing she is is a goddamn migraine. I’m a little mad Tyrian stole the show’s first cuss 4 years back cuz I really would have liked for Watts to cap this off by calling Cinder a bitch. This roasting literally lights a fire under Cinder and she seems ready to snap and kill Watts here and now, but instead she pulls him back onto the roof and stares off blankly into space before her fire fades and she walks off to sit on the ledge of a different side of the building to really think about his harsh words and shed a single tear. It’s a little unclear if she’s just feeling sorry for herself and realizing she’s more of a failure than she wanted to admit, or if she’s just overwhelmed by Watts reminding her of her childhood trauma. Maybe she’s realizing how powerless she’s truly remained all this time after fighting so hard for her own freedom and independence, and crying at the fact that she seems unable to escape that role she hates so much. Whatever the case, it’s real rough for her but I don’t feel like shedding any of my own tears for her sake. She doesn’t seem like she’s gonna change her allegiances so I don’t feel much need to cheer for her, but maybe she’ll reevaluate her strategy and become a force to be reckoned with as a villain because of this. I wouldn’t mind that. We’ll have to wait and see.
Back in the ruins of Monstra, we see Yang Ren and Jaune are all doing alright, and Oscar seems to be as well. Jaune is using his Semblance to help Oscar heal up quicker so that’s good to see too. Yang answers a call and sees Blake anxiously hoping she’ll pick up. The biggest smile comes to her face when she does, and the two halves of the group are ecstatic to hear the other is still alive and well. Neither are quite ready to tell the full tale of what they’ve been up to, but Weiss pulls up a map of the city and lays out a safe route through the subway tunnels that will take OYRJ straight to the mansion so they can actually reunite. Oscar isn’t about to leave Emerald behind though, and we see her knelt in the chaos holding out her hands as if hoping to catch some of the dust that was once her father figure. Yang is vocally against the idea of bringing Emerald with them, but Oscar advocates for her being every bit against Salem as them so the enemy of their enemy should be their friend. Emerald actually doesn’t seem to want to keep hanging around them and says they should just part ways, but Jaune isn’t about to let her walk free without facing any kind of justice for her past crimes. Ren thinks they need to be able to see past their emotional hang ups and consider the value in having her as an ally, and Yang is quick to remind them all that Emerald is part of the reason she lost her arm. Technically that is true, Adam was working with Cinder and if Yang hadn’t been framed as a brutal criminal she would have been around the rest of the team when everything popped off so maybe that first fight would have gone differently. But I do feel like it’s a bit of a stretch. Yang keeps going about why she can’t just forgive and forget when Em had been such a snake in the grass back at Beacon, but that’s not what Oscar is asking of her. He just wants her to try and give the girl a second chance to be better. He gets a little cryptic about how they’ve already gotten help from someone they haven’t had the best track record trusting, and Ren perfectly guesses he means that Oz has reemerged in his mind. This takes the blondes by surprise, and Oscar stands up for the old soul by saying he took the brunt of the beatings and told him how to impede Salem like he did just there. Turns out we’ll be finding out the secret of Ozpin’s cane today: It’s been made into a magical repository for kinetic energy stored over dozens of past lives to be made into a sort of bomb to set off when needed. I don’t know quite enough about physics to describe how exactly that would work, but it seems to make sense that it does. But the blast that took out Monstra used up the majority of what was in there so he can’t rely on it for that kind of attack again. It seems likely that was what Ozpin used against Cinder in the Beacon Vault, but didn’t use very much of it, and again what Oscar used to bust a hole in the bottom of the pit Ironwood shot him into. Oscar finishes making his case that Oz really does want to aid them, and the others seem convinced. What’s worth noting is that all eyes had been on him during this, but Emerald made no attempt to run away or even lower her hands. Guess she might really want to stick around after all... The moment is interrupted by the not so distant sound of a crying baby, and they all run further down the tunnel to find a subway station where the people of Atlas are taking shelter on Ironwood’s orders. Emerald starts to feel the weight of her action and those she used to side with, especially when she sees kids scared and hungry like she was before Cinder found her. They continue past the station on their way to the manor, and Oscar offers some encouragement to Emerald that they need her help in this war considering what she’s capable of. Considering the feats she performed under stress back in Volume 5, I’m inclined to agree.
We fade away from that scene to Ironwood’s office and the camera rises up the stairs as if being held by the Ace Ops as they and Winter come through the still broken doors to give their report to the general. He’s looking at multiple holographic screens projecting from his table: one with graphics telling him the status of all the airships mechs and soldiers, one pulling up news articles and any other info they can get on Monstra presumably for the purpose of cataloguing it in case they ever need to worry about another one, the third seems to be a map of city to monitor the damage so far, and the last is all the info they have on Cinder. He congratulates the team for their work destroying the Grimm, but Winter admits it wasn’t their bomb that did the job, they still have it intact for him. This confuses Ironwood greatly, but he sees an opportunity in this twist of fate. Penny hasn’t come to the Vault like he wanted her to be programmed to do, so he assumes Watts did a shit job of reprogramming her or just intentionally screwed them over. Yet the truth is something he can’t seem to imagine, she has free will and doesn’t want to do as she’s told. Who’s the real tool now Jimmy? He informs them that Cinder broke Watts out, and he seems to consider Qrow and Robyn escaping to be an even worse consequence. Harriet seems ready to sprint out of the room and haul them back here herself, but Ironwood stays her hand... or foot in this case. With Salem temporarily halted, now is the best time they’ve got for him to have the Winter Maiden open the Vault and use the Staff to lift Atlas higher than she can reach like he wanted so badly. So he wants Winter to bring him Yang Jaune and Ren. Winter doesn’t see the purpose of that, or she does and hates to imagine it’s truly what he intends, but either way she knows she can’t do what he’s asking. He plans to make full use of the lives they hold in their hands, and he’s going to use Jaune and the others as leverage to make Penny do what he says. He acts as if he’s actually proud of himself for realizing this is an option available to him, and I think it’s his Semblance that’s partially blinding him to the moral reasons why it should not be an option worth considering. Winter is left wilting under his unaware and proud gaze, and then Harriet pipes up to tattle on her commanding officer. Winter gave the kids a chance to try and rescue their friends from inside the whale(they don’t mention that friend was Oscar so he still doesn’t know the kid survived his attempted murder), and they weren’t seen exiting before it blew up. I want to say I’m shocked and disgusted that Harriet snitched on Winter just for the brownie points of being honest and taking Winter down a peg, but I’m really not. She’s been a loyal bootlicker since this time last Volume, and this feels like payback for that whole “I outrank you so you can’t stop me from giving them a chance” thing in chapter 7. Ironwood removes the proud and probably intended to be comforting hand he had placed on Winter’s shoulder, as if ashamed to be touching her after she let him down like this. This was his last plan for his definition of success, and now it’s ruined so he can’t do anything. In a fit of rage he smashes his table like the goddamn Hulk and the Ace Ops are left to watch and wonder just how in his right mind he actually is. As he tries to catch his breath, the general gets an urgent transmission that dozens of non-military aircraft have shown up on radar. I and probably a few dozen other people watching this hoped this was an Avengers Endgame moment of tons of allies coming to the rescue of the down and out heroes. But no, its the Schnee Dust Company ships Whitley sent out. Almost forgot about that plan, whoops. Ironwood immediately recognizes this as Weiss’ handiwork for the sake of saving Mantle, because nobody would have guessed Whitley would show some humanity and make this plan himself. Winter immediately shows attentive concern hearing her sister has done this, and Harriet gives her a look as if to say “you are such a bleeding heart for these little criminals...” Ironwood makes the very one dimensional assumption that everything Ruby and the others have been doing is simply to protect Mantle, as if they didn’t have a serious conversation with May about helping Atlas as well as Mantle 3 episodes back. With that knowledge in mind, he decides he needs to make a call.
Speaking of phones, Cinder gets a cheeky text and an accompanying selfie from Neo revealing she has the Lamp and she knows Salem will tear Cinder to pieces if she doesn’t bring it back to her. So she’s proposing a trade; Cinder gets the name to activate the Lamp, and in return she has to bring Neo to Ruby for the revenge she so deeply craves. Watts can’t see Cinder’s screen so he wonders who among their comrades has survived. Unclear if Cinder is going to tell him.
At last, we see Ruby throw open the front doors of Schnee Manor with Weiss and Blake flanking her, to see Yang and the others on the front steps. The sisters immediately embrace and Ruby sheds a tear of relief and joy that they’re all okay. Yang tells her she missed her too, and that seems to be that for the distrust and argument they had back in chapter 1. Ruby goes to greet the guys, and Yang gives Weiss a nice hug too. Then she sees Blake has taken a few steps away from the group and seems ashamed or embarrassed, unable to even look in their direction in Yang’s direction. Yang puts a hand to her cheek, her thumb softly stroking up and down as she turns Blake’s head to meet her gays gaze. Yang blushes and smiles, Bake returns the smile, and the two softly press their foreheads together. The intense sapphic energy of this deeply intimate moment was almost overwhelming, and many couldn’t help but adore it. I know I couldn’t stop myself from being a little giggly. Ren notices Nora isn’t there to greet them, and Weiss seems like she’s going to bring him up to her room and possibly even explain what happened along the way. Ruby takes this chance to go and greet Oscar with a hug, but stops short when she sees Emerald behind him. She seems real mad and is about to go on the attack, but Oscar steps between them and insists he can vouch for her, or maybe he’s saying he can explain? We don’t quite know because they get cut off by the sound of Ruby’s Scroll ringing. May is calling from the crater to say that the SDC freighters aren’t the only thing in the air right now, and she seems very panicked by what she sees. She yells for everyone to run into the mines for shelter, and an explosion is hear before the call is cut short. Before anyone has time to try and puzzle out what they just heard, a loud alarm tone goes off on all their Scrolls. It’s a fun detail that as a Faunus Blake covers her ears cuz the loud noise is especially bad for her. An emergency CCT broadcast is coming in for everyone in the kingdom, and Ruby magnifies her Scroll’s playing of it to be projected into the air for all of them to watch. The cargo ships are shown being shot down by military ships, and then the feed cuts to Ironwood standing ominously under a single light to deliver a downright villainous speech. He claims he has been trying his best to protect the technology and future of the kingdom from those who would do it harm, but I think it is VERY telling he never mentions protecting the people. Because that’s not what matters to him anymore. Not really. He says the only person stopping him from finishing his plans of making sure the currently crippled Salem can’t hurt them anymore is Penny. So he has an ultimatum for Penny and her friends, because he knows they will be listening right now. Either she turn herself over to him so he can have her do her “duty” and save as much of the Kingdom as possible and forget about trying to save Mantle, or he will nuke Mantle as punishment for her selfishness. The more he talks the more angry Ruby and the others get, and we are right there with them. He somehow thinks that if Mantle is destroyed then Penny will be free to only care about Atlas and its protection and will gladly work with him to do so. What a delusional bastard. And if anyone tries anything other than what he has said to do, he will use the bomb. 1 hour to decide how they will respond, and a hell of a lot riding on that choice.
There can be absolutely no question now, Ironwood will be the villain for the rest of the Volume and Salem will probably return at the end to ruin whatever hope putting him down will have raised in our heroes... And I’m kinda excited for how that’s gonna play out. Let’s see how team RWBY get out of this one~

Destiny - [ Epilogue : Oscar ] - mod lilac:
[ Part 1: Pyrrha ] [ Part 2: Jaune ]
Oscar visits the final resting place of Pyrrha and Jaune.
// An epilogue for Destiny. It’s more or less a monologue from Oscar, but it’s been demanding to be written for weeks now before I move onto another project. I hope you enjoy the final piece.
=============================================
Dark stormy clouds hovered over the Emerald Forest, a torrent of rain spilling into the trees. A green-clad figure slogged slowly though the grounds, heading for a specific destination. Guilt shone on his face.
----
Shielded from the storm outside, a pair of angel statues carved in marble stood in the small shrine. On the altar was a small picture frame where a young knightly blond and a young amazon-like redhead grinned into the camera.
“Sorry I’m late, Jaune,” Oscar said quietly as he wiped the droplets from his hair.
“Ahh, sorry. Forgot to introduce myself,” Oscar chuckled apologetically, “I’m Oscar Pine, Miss Nikos. And there might still be a little bit of Ozpin left in here, but...” He grinned before sighing, “it’s probably just me now.”
“I sorta know you because I have Ozpin’s memories, but I wish I could’ve met you,” Oscar said with a smile, “I wanted to see the person who my best friend admired so much.”
“As for you, Jaune, we need no introductions,” he smiled, a hint of pain in the gesture. His gaze locked onto the grave with Jaune’s name on it before turning his head to stare at the forest around him.
“Nora really chose a nice place,” Oscar admired, “I guess it’s true what they say, a quest ends at its beginning - suppose that must be doubly true for a knight.” He brushed off some dirt from the grass before he sat down cross-legged. Giving the scenery one last lookover, he smiled mischievously, “From what I recall from Ozpin’s memories though, you probably didn’t enjoy your experience here at the time.”
“Whooosh.” He swung his hand dramatically towards the ceiling.
“Haha,” he smiled, “I guess you’re tired of me embarrassing you in front of your significant other, even though she probably knows all this given she nailed you to the tree that your grave’s leaning on.”
“You probably already heard it from everybody else, so I’ll just go over the highpoints,” Oscar continued as he grinned. “We won. We beat Salem.”
“All of us lived for the most part,” Oscar paused before shaking his head, “Not to say any of us died. It’s just - well it’s complicated. Lemme give you the good news first.”
“Nora and Ren got married. They’re expecting a child anytime soon,” Oscar clapped in excitement, “And asked the doctors not to tell them the gender. They want it to be a surprise.”
“Yang and Blake are going to get married too. At least after their dads get the testosterone out of their system. I think they secretly enjoy arguing about how “your daughter isn’t good enough for mine” and boisterously telling embarrassing stories in front of their kids. Yang’s threatening to elope, and Blake’s mom is encouraging her.”
“Unc- I mean, Qr-. You know what I’m going to call him Uncle Qrow, “ Oscar said, “He’s family to everyone. He probably kept us from falling apart after you died. Told us not to blame ourselves. You brought Cinder down with you because you loved us all. You did what you did, just as we would’ve done for you.”
He sniffled.
“Ah, sorry. I...Let’s just wait. I’ll tell you the reason why I came here later. Let’s just enjoy this moment.” A pained smile lingered on his lips, “Anyway...”
“Qrow gave us the choice to leave the group with no questions asked- he felt it was the right thing to do after what happened. You fought to keep us safe; it’s only right that we were given that choice.”
“No one took him up on his offer,” he smiled with a bit of pride.
“A bit of unpleasantness did happen after we used the Relic of Knowledge,” Oscar rubbed his cheek, “But it’s all water under the bridge now.”
“Glynda is now the Headmistress of Beacon. Well, will be once all the rubble is cleaned up. She and James are an item now. Haha. That’s one unlikely couple right there. They’ll argue until their voices become hoarse and their faces turn red, but if someone insults one of them within earshot of the other... Well, some soldier made the mistake of trying to kiss up to James by insulting Glynda. And now he’s probably still running laps around Mantle.”
The smile on his face slowly turned into a grimace, the guilt that’d been weighing him down returning once more.
“I....I admit that I came here not just to catch you up on things,” Oscar hesitatingly said. His hand waved, and four items, glowing ethereally with power, flickered into existence in front of him.
Lamp, Crown, Staff, Sword.
Knowledge, Choice, Creation, Destruction.
“It’s funny. Everyone thought they disappeared after Ruby came back to life,” he whispered as he watched the Relics revolve around him, “She sacrificed herself to save the people of Mantle and Atlas - when our fight between Salem and her forces dropped Atlas out of the sky.”
“Even with the knowledge that she would die using the combined power of the Relics, she still chose her own destruction so that others may live. Thus, the most mysterious of the relics - Creation - returned her to us.”
“Not many people realized that a goddess descended that day. Only Salem and I knew, for we were the only ones who’ve ever been in the presence of a god.
“When Ruby spoke after becoming a goddess, her words became edict. And with a single utterance, she vanquished Salem. Begone,” he said, eyes glazed in remembrance of that moment, “One word, nothing else. Time stopped for everyone but a goddess, myself, and a disintegrating Salem trying to resist her fate.”
“...Salem really hated Ozma. It’s what kept her alive all this time,” Oscar sighed, “Magic and spells fade, even those cast by a god.”
“The immortality given to Salem was never meant to last,” he said softly, “But when the God of Light gave Ozma his orders, I don’t think the God realized how much it would make Salem hate the man to the point where she would literally defy death to ruin everything Ozma wanted to protect.”
“I don’t quite know what Ruby did to separate Ozpin from me, but the last thing I remember was Ozpin’s shade walking over to Salem. I remember bits of yelling and crying, but after the man left my head, I think I was frozen in time like the rest. No longer god-touched, I guess. By the time we all came to, both Ozpin and Salem were turning into motes of light.”
“Despite how much misery Salem gave us, I hope she found peace. Ozma too,” he sighed.
“As for Ruby, she’s been off since that day. Though she no longer has that divine power, she seems more ethereal, more disconnected from the world,” Oscar sighed, “As if she’d leave us at any time. Disappear and vanish.”
Oscar then chuckled, “luckily, we have two dorks Weiss and Penny, originally at odds with each other for taking up too much of Ruby’s attention, now working together to keep Ruby grounded...so I think Ruby will be okay.”
“Oh yeah, Penny never actually died, Pyrrha. They were able to put her core - the essence of her soul - into a new body, so I hope you rest more peacefully knowing that.”
“In any case, everyone’s doing okay... but you two.”
He slouched over, palming his face. “Ugh, sorry. I guess I keep on delaying the inevitable. I’ll tell you why I’m here right now.”
“After the Relics found their way over to me, I wondered... if the Relics could produce a God, could it turn back time to save you? So I asked the Relic of Knowledge...”
“And Jinn said yes. That the Relics could send back a single soul without their future memories or skills - only a faint impression without any details, just a whisper of destiny - back to a very specific point in time, a couple hours before the Fall of Beacon.”
“After getting over my shock, I naturally asked about a future where you lived,” Oscar looked away from Jaune’s grave, “and that future was bleak. In the past I saw through Jinn, we went after the Relic of Creation after Knowledge. And as a result, Atlas fell upon Mantle and destroyed the entire Kingdom. Out of hundreds of thousands of people, only we and the rest of the team survived, and it was only because of Raven’s aid.”
“It was completely different from what actually happened to us. After you sacrificed yourself to kill Cinder, you caused Emerald to become the Fall Maiden. And somehow that caused me to get kidnapped by Mercury, allowing me to convince them both that staying with Salem will only lead to more pain for both of them - and they left her for us. Learning Salem’s future plans through Emerald, we went after the Relic of Destruction in Vacuo instead and then returned to the Emerald Forest with all the chess pieces to obtain the Relic of Choice - And then we had our showdown at Atlas.”
Oscar uneasily shifted his foot on the ground, now completely unable to look at the grave in front of him, “I’m not sure how it dawned on me to ask my last question. Maybe it’s because Jinn only showed me a future instead of the numerous possibilities it should’ve been, but...”
“I asked if I turned back the clock before.”
“And Jinn said I did.”
“I think,” Oscar hesitated before continuing, “I must’ve sent you back after almost everyone died beating Salem in the past Jinn showed. I don’t think it could’ve been anyone else because only you acted differently compared to how events should’ve turned out - so...”
“I'm the one responsible for your death, Jaune,” he choked out, “Even if it wasn’t actually me; I still can’t help but feel that way, so I’m trying to figure out if you would want me to right my wrong or be content with the future you’ve sacrificed yourself for.”
“Would you resent me if I tried? To undo everything you’ve strived to do. Or would you resent me if I left you for dead - to not even try?”
“I admit I don’t think I could do any better - I know I probably should be content, but not knowing hurts. You are literally my best friend - a brother. So please..."
“Just give me a sign.”
He bowed his head down, tears falling - conflicted between his sense of duty to the world he lived and his deepest bond of friendship.
Oscar paused as he heard something - or rather the absent of something. The torrent of rain that’s been present had slowed to a stop. Gazing outside, Oscar gasped quietly as he watched the shadows from the overhead clouds quickly giving way to rays of sunlight.
Running outside, the green-clad boy got to witness the dark clouds visibly fade into the blues of the sky, leaving only sunlight and the beauty of the Emerald Forest behind.
Feeling the warmth of the sun on his face, Oscar whispered quietly, “Is this... your answer?”
He heard no response, but something in his heart settled in that moment. A sense of peace. Like he’d been forgiven. That he need not carry his burden any longer.
Oscar turned back to the shrine and smiled gratefully.
“...Thank you. I’ll make sure to make the most of the future you’ve let us have.
“Both of you can rest easy. I’ll be the one to protect everyone now.”
“We’ll see you when our time comes.”

Salad
So... in the BBB discoed server, @thategghead mentioned that they suspect that you could give me the prompt of “salad” and I’d either come up with gay pining or angst.
I took that as a challenge.

“Blake? Honey? Are you okay? You’ve barely touched your food.”
“Huh?” Blake jumped and blinked up at her mother. Kali gazed at her with kind, worried amber eyes, her ears pinning slightly as she looked at her daughter. “...yeah. I’m fine, mum. I’m just tired.” Blake picked at her salad, shifting it around her plate despondently.
“... Blake. You know that we love you dearly. You can talk to us.” Kali said softly, as she reached across the table and grasped Blake's hand. Blake’s father had gone into town and Sun was running errands for Kali so lunch was just the two women and Blake knew that there would be no getting out of this conversation. “Please don’t shut us out, sweetie.”
“I… don’t know what you want me to say.” Blake huffed softly, stabbing a piece of lettuce and dropping her fork.
“I want you to tell me what’s wrong with my baby girl.” Kali said gently. “I’m your mother. I… didn’t do nearly enough to protect you from that monster… and I will always regret not doing more. But I can be here for you now.”
“I- mum.” Blake’s voice cracked as she bowed her head, ashamed that she just kept hurting people. “It’s not your fault. It was mine. I-“
“Blake Belladonna, don’t you dare finish that thought.” Kali warned, gripping Blake’s wrist with a gentle firmness. “It was not your fault. You were a child. A child that was manipulated and tricked. You’re a victim, Sweetie. You’ve been hurt. How could that possibly be your fault?”
“... because I’m toxic. All I do is hurt people.”
“Is that what you know or is that what he told you?”
“What- What do you mean?” Blake asked, tilting her head in confusion at her mother.
“The way you talk about yourself. Is that the truth or is that the reality that Adam made you see?” Kali asked softly, gazing into her daughter’s eyes. “Is that how we all see you or is that what he made you believe?”
“I- I don’t-“
“You’re only eighteen years old, Blake. You’re so young and yet, you’ve gone through so much.” Kali sniffed, smiling a watery smile at Blake. “You’ve grown up to be such a capable, brave and intelligent young lady, even without us. Your father and I are so proud of you.”
“Mum- I’m not-“ Blake struggled for a moment before ducking her head, tears entering her eyes as her mother gently rubbed her hand. “Thank you.”
“We’re your parents, baby girl.” Kali said softly. “We want you to know that you can talk to us. About anything.”
“...right.” Blake mumbled, looking at her salad and swallowing thickly. “Can… I ask you something?”
“Of course, sweetie.”
“I left someone behind. Back in Vale.” Blake said, her ears pinning against her head as memories of watching Yang be piled into a stretcher, the remains of her right arm bleeding through her bandage. “She got hurt trying to protect me.”
“Is this Yang? Sun’s told me a great deal about her.”
“Of course he did.” Blake muttered, her irritation at her friend spiking once more.
“She sounds like a very special young woman.” Kali said, tilting her head curiously at Blake. “Would it be correct to assume that she’s important to you?”
“... is Yang important to me?” Blake echoed, her eyes welling up with tears once more, her right hand clutching her left bicep anxiously. “Mum, I can't even begin to describe how important she is.”
“Then why leave?”
“Because it’s my fault she got hurt. Adam would just keep going after her and… she didn’t deserve that. She deserves better than me.” Blake choked out, her shoulders shaking as she fought to keep control of her emotions. “She’s smart and charming and the sweetest person I’ve ever met. She’d always get this- this twinkle in her eyes before saying some dumb pun that always made me laugh. She was always so warm and kind and beautiful and-“
“Oh.” There was a smile in Kali’s voice that made Blake look up to see her mother shaking her head with a small smile.
“What? What’s “oh?”
“Blake. You love her.” Kali said gently, smiling softly at Blake as she froze. “It’s okay, sweetie. You’re allowed to love her. You deserve to. And you deserve love in return.”
“She doesn’t- she hates me!”
“Do you know that for a fact?”
“She’s been hurt before and I’ve just left another scar!”
“But how do you know that she hates you?” Kali insisted, her voice firm. “Yes, She’s probably hurt. But hurt doesn’t equal hatred.”
“But… how can I ever face her again after what I did?”
“Because you have more courage than you give yourself credit for, my fierce little panther cub.” Kali cooed as she stood and walked over to Blake and pulled her into a soft hug.
“Mum! I’m not a little girl!” Blake sniffed, turning to bury her face into her mother’s shoulder despite her words.
“That doesn’t change the fact that you’ll always be my fierce little panther cub.” Kali said. “And I know that, when the time calls for it, you’ll do what you feel in your heart is best.”
“... I miss her.” Blake finally said out loud, her voice breaking as she clung to mother, feeling like a lost and scared little girl once more.
“Oh sweetie.” Kali whispered. “I’m sure that she misses you too. I may not know a lot about her, but it sounds like you’re pretty special to her too.”
“She- She always made me feel like that.” Blake sniffed, allowing her mother to pet her head like she used to after Blake had a nightmare as a child. “Like… she could see something I couldn’t.”
“And maybe she did. And maybe she still does.” Kali said quietly. “But Blake? Sweetheart? You’ll never know if you don’t try. I know it’s scary but have you thought about tracking her down?”
“What if she doesn’t want to see me?”
“Then at least you can say that you tried. Do you think you could live with yourself, constantly wondering about what have happened had you just tried to talk to her?”
“... no.”
“So… what are you going to do?”
“I think-“ Blake inhaled deeply and made up her mind, knowing what she had to do. “I think that, after we’ve sorted out Haven and Adam…. that I’m going to take a trip to Patch.”
It might result in her heart breaking in a new way, but Blake knew that she had to do this. For herself and for Yang.
