Spiderman: GOD DAMN IT! The bad guys cut off Deadpool’s arm!
Daredevil: Peter, it’s Wade. It’ll grow back. Why are you so distressed?
Spiderman: Because now I’m going to have listen to his Monty Python impressions all night!
Deadpool: *in a very bad British accent* ‘TIS BUT A FLESH WOUND!

I was thinking about that scene in grey's anatomy "ask anyone. we're close" "yeah, Dr. Yang and my wife sometimes have sleepovers... in my bed, with me in it." but with Eddie, Steve and Robin.
this would totally make a great video the first chance Robin comes to visit
Eddie posts a Tiktok of himself flopping back into bed like, “Ahhh, can’t wait to cuddle my husband. Oh wait *pans camera over to Ozzy in the middle in the bed and then back to himself
Eddie: Oh wait *pans camera pass Ozzy to Joan all stretched out and then back to himself*
Eddie: Oh wait *pans camera pass Ozzy and Joan to Steve sleeping.* There he is. On the other side of the world.
Eddie, sighing: Buckley, get the lights
Robin, popping up from Steve’s other side: Yeah, no problem.

Can I talk about how much I love the design and use of PAK legs? Because I’m going to talk about how much I love the design and use of PAK legs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when you ignore their ability to shoot lasers and create energy shields, PAK legs are cool as hell and I love seeing them be used for everything from climbing to combat to faster movement to even fast dodging and launching the user in various directions in episodes like Plague Of Babies (with Zim using his PAK legs to launch himself to the ceiling and generally dodge things during the Giganto-Baby fight) and The Frycook That Came From All That Space (with Zim using his PAK legs to dodge out of the way of Sizz-Lorr).
We also see them be used for intimidation in Halloween Spectacular Of Spooky Doom with Zim using them to tower over Dib.
But best of all, best seen in Dark Harvest, PAK legs can be used for more delicate actions as well, like flipping a light switch. They aren’t just a mode of transportation, they’re mechanical limbs that can be used for everything that an Irken’s hands can do. Hence why I headcanon that the tips of the PAK legs can split into three smaller claw-like tips, able to be used as fingers.
And one thing I constantly think about is things like PAK legs acting in tandem with the user’s organic limbs, mimicking the actions of the user’s arms and hands, even using those mechanical claws to mimic the user’s fingers.
I also think about things like Irken locks that can only be opened with a PAK leg, requiring that someone insert a PAK leg into a hole and use the leg as a key, rotating and maneuvering the leg as needed. Or an Irken control panel where the user inserts a PAK leg and maneuvers it to control whatever the panel is attached to.
I also think about things like an Irken struggling to control a ship and then deploying the PAK legs to press buttons and flip switches in the cockpit around them while they keep their organic hands on the steering wheel trying to regain control.
Or an Irken using their PAK legs to attack something behind them while they keep doing something else. Like this one clip from Sonic Prime:
And once again, this is IGNORING the fact that PAK legs can shoot lasers and create energy shields and I headcanon they they can also be used as welding equipment or precision laser cutters and a bunch of other tools.
This has been my incoherent ramblings about PAK legs.

There is something so good about Akutagawa--a very much feared, boogeyman like figure (even amongst his own men) in Yokohama because of his violence, bloodlust, and steadfast loyalty to a violent criminal organization such as the Port Mafia--given biblical angel symbolism
I don't know, something something about someone whose beauty is so incomprehensible and terrifying to most. He's not physically ugly, he's not--he's beautiful, the type of beautiful that almost feel as if he's not a real person, like he's a mirage, or a painting. But he's beautiful not like those renaissance cherubs and lovely looking maidens for angels, but more like the biblical angels with their beauty beyond mortal grasp, the beauty that brings fear and revulsion towards whoever sees them because they cannot comprehend it. Coming across him makes you understand why angels say, "Be not afraid" when they reveal themselves to mortals. An incomprehensible beauty that very few can keep looking at. A dangerous feat, literally and metaphorically.
(This isn't only with his physical appearance either--for someone who is constantly beaten down both by canon and by the fandom for being "simple", he is a terrifying bundle of different aspects that contradict each other. Like a super machine you open up and you see the intricate criss crossing of wires and bolts that hold it together. He's a mess of nerves and feelings and experiences so profound, so horrific, that you don't know where to start with him. To uncoil him and see him truly bare is almost impossible. Where does he end and the roots that connect him to the earth begin?)
Something about Akutagawa being an angel, a being created entirely to follow the will of "God", obey their every word. Unwavering loyalty to their master while singing praise. Acting entirely on the order of their master--wing always dipped in blood for his sake. A weapon of "heaven' that brings destruction to those who oppose "God" and be one of the many upon which "God" rests upon.
(Almost everything Akutagawa does is for the sake of the Port Mafia, taking orders from the "master" (boss) himself. Willingness and obedience and loyalty repeatedly exploited and used, everything he has done as one of the high ranking leaders handling most of the Mafia's dirty work playing a part so Mori's throne stays high.)
Something about comparing Akutagawa to a certain archangel, finding repulsion in "God"'s cherished creation, the inferiority that came with being "less" to "mankind", and the painful fall from grace to the deepest pits of despair when he confronts the being that created him, molded him, and then condemn him. And to his humiliation, mankind, for centuries, condemns him too.
(He can't be compared to Lucifer, God's most beloved angel. Maybe Dazai did value him, but it doesn't matter, does it? because the difference between the two is that one was cherished and one never was. However, you can compare the rage and humiliation Akutagawa felt towards Atsushi--for obtaining Dazai's approval and affection with no effort, no proper control over his skill or any seemingly differentiating quality-- to Lucifer's refusal to bow down to humanity--a creation inherently imperfect and lackluster, with not the qualities of angels. And as a result? Disgraced. Both by the creator and by ones that held their creator's favor. )
Something about Akutagawa being an angel--someone whose presence means nothing pleasant to those he appears before. A reaper of sorts, responsible for taking life and for souls to see the afterlife (killing both as an order and an act of mercy, for he despises torture and meaningless suffering). A guardian angel watching over "mankind" from afar, where he is not aware and saving him from certain death at his own expense.
There's just something so appealing about depicting Akutagawa--a fearsome, ruthless, and bloodthirsty mafioso, a boogeyman to his own men--as an angel, be it of death, of mercy, a destroying angel-- whatever anyone wants to see him as and use him for.

Gwen and Miles bite each other for autistic reasons but since they’re both super durable + already have trouble sensing pain from the autism they end up not realizing they’re biting hard enough to draw blood and freaking other people out and rushing to disinfect the wounds,

Caught up to the fic!! Absolutely fascinated by all the queer/punk/poc history here, since I don't know much myself. Very sweet chapter as well.
Unrelated question - mostly - but why is it common fanon to depict Noir as the more scarred up of various spiderpeople? Naturally everyone has their fair share of fights, though the only we see sustaining any marks is Peter B and his misaligned nose. Personally, I've taken it as Noir Peter not healing as cleanly due to it being Spider God stuff over Weird Radioactive Healing Factor stuff. Thoughts?
thank you so much!! i’m glad you liked it, & hope the ending was satisfying for ya <3
short answer: hot
long answer, plus a map of my idea of noir’s scars: under readmore :)
i’m not a devout spidey comic/movie fan or a doctor. this is based on conjecture and minimal research!
when i came up with my unmasked noir ideas, i wasn’t influenced by fanon—i hadn’t seen any other fan art, not even when itsv came out. but i can think of a good few reasons that scarred noir is a popular headcanon: evidence of what he’s been through makes him feel more tangible/relatable, the visual difference enhances his thematic individuality as distinct from other spider-people (especially other Peter Parkers), self-consciousness can explain why he doesn’t take off his mask in itsv even around other spiders.
all perfectly valid and interesting reasons! but the first two reasons are doylist and the last one is missing a crucial question: why does he have scars? unless a wound is severe, gets infected, or gets lucky, it won’t usually scar. facial injuries especially need to be really bad to leave a mark. and of course most if not all other spider-people have the healing factor. so what gives??
i like the spider god’s curse influences healing factor idea; it opens up some nice angsty possibilities regarding an inability to Be “Fixed;” no matter how much he tries, he can’t erase/forget what’s happened to him. but i also enjoy the bandaging someone up after a fight genre of fic, and am annoyingly pedantic, so my personal working theory is that the healing factor is not a doctor with ten plus years of experience and an accurate understanding of human anatomy. when a bone really badly breaks, it has to be reset or it’ll heal wrong. to me, the healing factor doesn’t know what ‘right’ is, only ‘fast’ and ‘effective.’ it’s an accelerant, not a substitute for medicine.
so let’s establish the baseline. modern spideys either receive modern medical attention or the injury is superficial enough that they don’t require it. even poverty-stricken peter parkers get rushed to the hospital, because fictional doctors Don’t Care About The Money and/or peter is dolled up in spider gear and who’s going to ignore a visibly beat-up celebrity hero?? plus i honestly believed peter b’s nose was just genetics or smthn. my nose is misaligned and it’s never been broken to my knowledge
to compare, noir lives in 1933 and, far as i can tell, doesn’t rlly garner the same fame and respect from the public as modern spideys do. in the 30s, medicine was meh (they had x-rays but didn’t rlly consider radiation much of a threat, penicillin was still in its infancy, polio was a huge threat, etc) but was also, more importantly, far too expensive for most people suffering during the Great Depression. whatever treatment noir receives after a fight, if any, would look way different from ours. that means his healing factor, which can’t differentiate scars from normal skin or a misaligned bone from a whole one, would be inefficiently assisted or left alone. it would leave its history behind.
on the infectious disease side of things, it’s probably much easier for even noir to recover from less physical ailments like the flu and pneumonia—spider healing factor likely remembers and codes for immunity better than regular immune systems—but without modern drug therapies he’d still be worse for wear, ie internal scarring. mans would have a shorter-than-average parker lifespan if not for the pseudo-immortality of the Spider God
anyway. all this to say, here’s my personal map of parker’s scars. crop tank and daisy dukes to keep tumblr off my ass <3

(tbh this is more for my reference than anyone else’s, i’m sick of looking through my art of Just His Forearms to keep my details consistent, but maybe someone will find it interesting lol)
