Danny is the son of Mr Freeze
So! Danny was adopted as a Kid.
It was never really that big of a thing to him, just a small footnote in his life. He never really cared about finding his Bio Family, or even looking into it at all. His new Family was enough for him, no need to complicate it all that much.
But then, the Accident happened.
After he got shocked by the Portal and passed out, his parents had rushed him to the hospital. Apparently his Heart had been pulsing irregularly, so they had decided to not take any chances.
While at the Hospital, the Doctors noticed a particularly strange result in his blood tests. So, a few months after he had been discharged (it took a while for the blood work to come back), they asked him to come back in for further testing.
At first, Danny was scared that they had found out about his Powers. But when he walked into the Room, they had other news.
He had been diagnosed with Huntingtons Disease, a rare neurological condition that apparently had no known cure. The only possible way to contract the Disease was to have inherited it from one of his parents.
They said it was in its early stages at the moment, but as time passed he would become weaker and weaker, and he would become more sickly. They diagnosed that he had just over 5 years left before he died, and there were no treatments or cures that could save him.
Danny got a second opinion with Frostbite, since he knew more about Ghost Biology and might know if it was truly a fatal Disease for a Halfa.
And yeah, it was. No matter how much of him is Ghostly, he is still half Human, and the Human Disease in his body can and will kill him. And there's no guarantee that he will become a full Ghost upon death. For all he knows it will just End him.
So, Danny had a time limit to find a way to cure himself. He didn't have much time to study, what with the constant Ghost Attacks, his School Work, and keeping his parents from attacking innocent Ghosts, but he managed where he could.
Speaking of his parents, they had been looking into the disease as well. But they seemed convinced that they could find a way to save him by simply dissecting a Ghost to study its biology. (It was as if this was just a convenient excuse to dive deeper into their obsession)
After a while, he mamaged to resolve the Ghost Attack stuff and got his grades under control, but he was still making little progress on finding a Cure.
So, he looked into other people who might be studying the same Disease, to see if he could look I to their research. But that search came up empty.
There was nobody who wanted to fund research into such a rare disease, so nobody was studying it. There was one man who was studying it, but he was a convicted Supervillain. Danny decided that he would be his backup plan, since he wasn't sure how Jazz would react if he teamed up with a known Villain.
He just kept on studying his condition.
...
It had been about 4 years since his initial diagnosis, and Danny was 18. And he needed help.
He had made no progress in developing a Cure, and his condition had worsened. He could barely walk without a limp anymore, and his limbs felt weaker by the day.
He did manage to get some luck when he found out that lowering his Body Temperature would slow the progress of the Disease. He was never more thankful for his Ice Powers than on the day he figured that out.
But he had hit a roadblock. He needed help, and unfortunately there was only one place he could go to get it. The Supervillain he had read about all that time ago, Mr Freeze.
Now he was headed to Gotham City to seek his help, even if it meant becoming a Villlain himself.

Leviathan
The only thing you could hear in Levi's room was the constant sounds of his mouse clicking, keyboard smashing, and the occasional dinging of someone leaving a comment or donation. He was highly concentrated on his game, his eyeballs not ever leaving his screen. His eyes stung from not blinking. He refused to miss anything from his anime-based game. He barely heard you come into his room before he literally jumped from his chair when you snuck onto his lap and decided to straddle him within his chair.
"y/n, D-don't do that! You are such a normie!!"
He had forgotten entirely about your diagnosis.
"You smell so good, Levi." Your nose was nuzzled into his neck. You had basically melted onto his body he could basically call you his skin by how close you were to him. It didn't seem like it pleased you as you kept trying to get closer to him despite there being no space between you. Levi spared you a glance, it was a strange thing for you to say to him.
Your tongue licked below his ear making Levi squirm.
"w-what are--uugh~" Your teeth nibbled on his neck as your hand played with his hair.
"you're so tasty. "
Had you been possessed by Beel??? Levi thought.
"Can't wait till I have you. all to myself"
"woah what is even-" Levi was interrupted by yet again another bite of yours. He leaned his head away from you so you would have easier access to his neck. The sexually charged touching made him nervous, you had always been forward to most stuff but not this forward. The look in your eye told some story he couldn't comprehend. Well more like he refused to, he refused to believe you wanted to do THAT with a gross otaku like him. The firm grip at the base of one of his cocks woke him up. His hips jerked once you had put pressure on the base of his cock. His own pants were unzipped and you had managed to take out one of his cocks. Your fingers were shoved into Levi's mouth. The look on your face told him to lick them.
"y-y/n~" Levi moaned with your fingers in his mouth. His forked tongue swipes on your fingers before you pulled them out.
"'y/n." he whimpered
you're in heat
It had seemed that what made you snap because as soon as he moaned your name your forwardness doubled and Levi found himself being taken on the floor.
"a-ah fuck! " your fingers had gripped onto his ass kneading it.
Levi hastily tried getting back up from the floor to at least save some face and end his live stream but you managed to get a hold of his tail.
"mmph~!" Levi lightly moaned his face holding a heavy blush. His eyes trailed to his screen trying to focus on how to end the live stream quickly.
"y-y/n wa-ah~! wait let's just end thissss!~"
Your lips had trailed from his ear to his sensitive pale neck that now had little splotches of purple. Your teeth bite down on the side of his neck and that was all it took for Levi to go and go onto the floor away from his camera. You embraced him from behind jerking his cock, a perverted look on your face as you knew Levi was weak to your treatment
His grip on the edge of his desk was tight as he moaned. He panted barely keeping up with your bouncing on his cocks. His hair stuck to his forehead from his sweat.
"please y/n, stop! I'm going to knot you!"
"knot me bitch." Your hand smacks his ass leaving a red handprint.
"s-stop I'm close~!"
" I'll do everyone a favor and get the worthless gross otaku."
In his hysteria, Levi notices that something wrapping itself around his tail. His eyes trail to his tail and he finally realized you had grown a tail. his tail wiggles around your tail, seemingly enjoying how it seemed to trap it. The tip of your tail wrapped around Levi's second cock while the very tip managed to enter levi's ass. Completely entering it and making it stretch out till he cries.
"A-aahhh! a-arck~!"
Your hand gripped his hair and your tail tightened around his tail Levi moans pleased with what you were doing to him. The pace at your tail was fucking his ass sped up making Levi's eyes roll in the back of his head.
"Open your mouth bitch."
Levi obediently nodded and opened his mouth. Your spit splattered on his tongue.
"Swallow it," Levi whined pathetically but did so anyway. You smile at Levi's dumb face. There was no thought behind those eyes of his. You look at him with those seductive eyes of yours.
" Do you want to make me happy, Levi?"
Levi nodded quickly, the overstimulation getting to him.
"Be a dear and knot me." You whisper near his ear, basically ear fucking him with your mouth.
"Oh f-fuck Im cumming?!!~"
Levi's mouth opens and his tongue sticks out, as he cums. His legs twitch, as Levi mutters "i-i-I knotted you"
You feel his growing knot on your belly and smirk as it causes your stomach to bulge. Your fingers lightly press onto it. Levi's trembling hands grip your hands
"n-no more, Can't take it~ Sen-Sensitive~!"
extra:
"Lucifer! Levi got knotted on stream!!"
"LEVITHAN!!"
"Luci~ Our dear brother got fucked on live."
"OOI!! Lucifer Y/n claimed Levi!!"
"LEVI!!!!!"
Beelzebub
Beel didn't think anything of it when you asked to come along to his Fangol practice. It was so typical for you to ask to see him play. He knew you loved seeing him play and just genuinely enjoyed the look of utter accomplishment on his face when he just decimated the other team.
So it was a total shock when you basically hunted him like he was your prey in the team's locker room. You had made sure he was alone and unexpecting.
Seeing the droplets of sweat fall into beels titties made you want grab them barehanded and squeeze them. You wanted to motorboat his glorious bigger-than-your-entire-face-tiddies. seeing him all sweaty made you want mount him till the only thing he could think about was your hole on him. His cock was semi-present within his fangol uniform and you wanted to shoved up within you.
Beel didn't even knew where you came from but all he did know was that you were trying to suck his soul out of his cock. You had pushed his to the floor and shoved his bottoms off his body before cursing him with your mouth on his cock.
His big meaty thighs crushed your head cutting some of your oxygen as the pleasure was too intense for him. But you didn't seem to care as you pushed his thighs more against your face.
Beel whimpered as you messed with his cock. He couldn't keep up with all your tongues savviness. He had even felt your teeth nimble on his tip.
He didn't expect himself being pushed so much to the brink of pleasure to the point were he couldn't hold his strength back.
He had crushed the benches on either side of you, both having very clear hand grips on the now broken sitting benches. Beel's face was a beautiful shade of red across his cheeks as his ears caught on to your slurping sounds and his moans. His hands tightened their hold on the benches as he felt his cum flush through him and straight into your mouth.
He saw your tongue swirl, playing with his cum before swallowing and licking any remains on your face.
He catches you muttering something about his cum tasting like pineapples. His nose catches a Particular scent but his mind fails to recognize it.
Beel tries to catch his breath as he enjoys the after glow of your blow job, only to realize that you had gotten on top of him lining yourself up.
The scent was stronger now but Beel had yet to identify, all he knew was that you clearly wanted to take care of a need and he was going to do whatever possible to help you.
"yessss.~" you moan in relief as you had finally gotten a hand full of Beel's tiddies. You hands squeezed beels tits letting the muscle engulf your hands. Beel whimpers as you squish his two tits together and rub your face between the two.
"so perfect..and just for me." you whisper to yourself as your tongue licks his squished tit.
Belphie
It had been hours since he had heard you were in heat and decided to lock himself in the attic while you slept in there after getting the biggest blue balls from his dreams. Your nose twitched as you caught his scent. He would play dumb to deny that he was offering himself up to you. He was a brat that way. Belphie quickly and quietly moved into the bed making sure the pillows covered him just enough to satisfy your newfound interest in hunting for prey {more like cock}. You looked so innocent to him as if you weren't torturing him for the past 3 in a half hours.
As you literally weren't fucking with his dreams as he slept to tempt him to come to you. As if you weren't edging him, showing him how bad you needed him, and how many deliciously disgusting things you wanted to do to him.
Belphie couldn't resist touching you, your scent was driving him insane You smelled mouth-watering and his cock needed relief.
You had decided to sleep in his normal spot but had moved all the pillows to the side of you to prevent from overheating as your heat made you twice as warm. His fingertips whispered over your bare skin feeling your warmth, and his hands traveled to your fingers. His lips were caught onto his teeth, you were just so irresistible.
He had barely touched your fingers before your hands had grabbed onto his wrist tightly and pulled him from his shitty hiding attempt. Belphie barely had any time to process you pinning him to the bed.
Both of his hands were pinned above his head and your fingers gripped his wrist tightly.
Belphie looked at you in shock as he struggled to get his hand out of your hold. Your legs trapped his body below you as you looked at him as a prized slice of meat.
"Finally."
--
"f-fuck! Mommy!" Belphie's sloppy hole was taking the beating of a lifetime from you.
"YES~! " Both of your fluids running down his legs as he struggles to keep his spent legs open for you. His leaky cock swung from how hard you kept clapping his cheeks. His tail was limply entangled around your leg. His face is stuffed into the ruffled sheets, tears swelling his eyes as he feels plenty of emotion surge through his body. His face is clearly flushed and it's slowly passing across his body. His arms took weak to hold him up, all he could do was look at you while your lust for him consumed the both of you.
The bed's headframe was getting the same treatment as his prostrate.
Slammed.
The creaking of the bed accompanied by the rapid wall slams made everyone in the House of Lamentation know what was happening to Belpie.
Belphie yelped as you pulled his tail for cumming without permission
"s-sorry mommy~"
--
His fingers felt the grooves he left with his nails earlier as his claws dug into the floor from past experiences with you.
There on the rug while holding on to it for security as you rode him. His body was sweaty and his hair clung to his forehead. His hickeys littered under his ears. his horns ached from you pulling onto them, directing him how and where to eat you out while degrading him.
" Use your tongue whore, put it to good use."
" I would if you gave me a reason."
Your wicked smile was the last thing he saw before you wreaked havoc on his body effectively making submitting to you completely.
His body felt like it was on fire and it was mush, but he kept going for you. He loved how you used him and called him names. His legs quivered and his stomach felt a familiar ache coming again.
Your hand wrapped around his neck, suffocating him slowly
"Moo for me, cowboy."
" m-moo~"
The grip on his neck tightened and pinched his nipple.
Belphie yelped
"That's a good little bitch, aren't you a nice little thing when you do what you're told?"
Belphie nodded at your words, clearly elated at the sound of you pleased.
"You look so pretty, like this. I'm gonna make you my little housewife."
"You'd like that wouldn't you, right baby?"
Belphi nods again quickly.

You're Gonna Be Okay
Masterlist
Prompt List
Prompt: No
Request: No
Summery: Colby finds out he has testicular cancer. His girlfriend Y/N and his bet friend Sam are there to make sure he knows he's not alone and that he's going to be ok.
Pairings: Colby Brock Female reader.
Tumblr media
Colby had always been a healthy and active young man. He went for regular hikes, ate well, and took care of his body for the most part. So when he noticed pain in his palvic area, he wasn't too worried. But after a few weeks of it being on and off and not really going away, he finally decided to go see a doctor.
After a few tests and scans, Colby received the devastating news that he had testicular cancer. He couldn't believe it. It felt like his whole world came crashing down at that moment. How could this be happening to him? He was only 26 years old.
Tears streamed down his face as he called his girlfriend Y/N to tell her the news. She rushed over to his house and held him as he sobbed in her arms. She promised to be there for him every step of the way. Y/N was Colby's rock, his safe haven, and he knew he couldn't get through this without her.
The next day, Colby's best friend Sam came home after being at his girlfriend's house. They had been friends since they were kids, and Sam was like a brother to him. When Colby tells Sam about his diagnosis, Sam's eyes are filled with tears, but he quickly composes himself and puts on a brave face for his friend.
'We're going to get through this, man,' Sam said, placing a reassuring hand on Colby's shoulder.
Colby was scheduled to start chemotherapy in a few days. Y/N and Sam were there with him every step of the way, from going to doctor's appointments to holding his hand during treatments. Sam even learned a very complicated skill to help Colby keep his hair.
There were days when Colby didn't want to get out of bed when the side effects of chemo were too much to handle. But Y/N and Sam were always there to lift his spirits and remind him that he was not alone in this battle.
'You are so strong, Colby,' Y/N would say, kissing his forehead. 'You can beat this.'
Sam would often crack jokes or show him funny videos to make him laugh. They were determined to keep his spirits high and make sure he never felt alone.
As the months went by, Colby's health improved. The cancer was in remission, and he was slowly getting back to his old self. Y/N and Sam continued to be there for him through the ups and downs of recovery.
One day, Colby sat with Y/N and Sam in his backyard, enjoying the warm sunshine and the company of his loved ones. He looked at his friends and felt overwhelmed with gratitude. They had been his rock through the hardest time of his life and he couldn't have asked for better people to have by his side.
'Thank you,' he said, tears welling up in his eyes. 'Thank you for everything. I couldn't have done it without you guys.'
Y/N and Sam smiled at him, their eyes shining with love and pride. They had gone through such a trying experience together and had come out stronger than ever.
'You're not alone, Colby,' Y/N said, intertwining her hand with his. 'And you never will be.'
From that moment on, Colby knew that no matter what life threw at him, he had two amazing people by his side who would support him through anything. And that gave him a sense of strength and courage he never knew he had.

I'm just a beginner and these readings are just for fun. Tarot is not 100% accurate and does not replace medical treatment and diagnosis.

Pile 1
Just before meeting them, you'd be having many things to do. There would be so many things or tasks in your hands just before meeting them. Your day might go very sad and weird. You'd feel a need of balance just before meeting them.
This is a very specific message for someone, but you'll have two options to select from which bus or train you wanna reach your destination by. Divine timing and intervention would take place and you'd choose that bus in which your fs might also be present. And you'll meet them in the bus or a train for the first time. Or you can also meet them at the place you reach after travelling. You can meet them while traveling to some other city or place.
You might've done a lot of shadow work and emotional healing before meeting them. You've become very strong by the time you meet your fs. I'm so proud of you pile 1.
You might randomly talk about finances or about work with them. They'd seem so rich and wealthy to you or vice versa. You'll feel an emotional connect with them on the first meet as if you both have known each other since many lifetimes.
They'd see you as someone very caring and emotional. We have the lovers card here with the tower which suggests me two things. First, They may fall in love with you at first sight. And second is they might have some bad past related to their love life.
They may not approach you directly. They're stopping themselves as they've been hurt in the past before. They are so guarded around you. But they definitely love you. They'll gather strength and release fears regarding love and approach you. Just give them some space and time. Don't rush things.
Pile 2
When you first meet them, they might wear a tuxedo or a suit. And they might also be drinking some kind of drink the time they meet you. I think it's a party where you both meet. I get strong libra placements by the justice and two of swords.
You might go to a party and you might meet them there. You probably lied to your parents about this. (I'm not judging anyone, this is what's coming.) Your friends might make you agree to come to this party. It's a fated event. For some of you, This could also be someone's wedding. For instance, you went to a wedding with your friends you didn't thought you would. But you meet them there.
This person might come across as careless or even a playboy with many girlfriends but in reality this person is a hard worker, and very career oriented. They don't get time to think about girls. But when they see you they'd think that you are a freakin' reward from god for their hard work they've been doing all this time.
This person sees you as their treasure, someone they wanna protect as you're like a prize to them. This person can be famous in whatever field they're in. They have many eyes on them online/irl.
This person will blindly fall in love with you. They may not know whether to pursue you or not. They're indecisive about you. The hierophant came, this is a confirmation that you might meet in a wedding or some ceremony.
Pile 3
You might meet them on a cruise/ship or when the timing is right. Universe will lead you both towards each other. You may also know them from childhood or past. You may even shared a past life with this person. I think you or this person will manifest your union with each other. This is a very romantic connection! This person may belong to a place where there are mountains and rivers.
This person is very caring, loyal, honest and committed. You're lucky to have them. This person can be your romantic soulmate. 22 and 66 may be significant. You may be seeing this angel number or will see before meeting them.
This person definitely had a bad past in love or family. They may come across as rude or cold at first but this world's cruelty made them like this. Very heartbroken energy from this person's side. Someone betrayed them or lied to them. They got cheated and their idea of love changed. But this person is moving moving forward and working on himself. He's slowly leaving his past behind.
This person loves you very much. No matter what this person will love you. They're so sweet and loving. They see in your deep water like eyes and wonder about a lot of things. This person is very emotionally connected to you. They see you as their wish fulfillment. You are the brightest star in their sky. They find you very nurturing and caring. They love your giving nature. I can't describe how emotional and romantic this energy is! Very beautiful and loving. Wow!
Pile 4
You can meet them near water, lake, sea or beach. Your current energy seems very indecisive about a lot of things. You can meet them when you are at crossroads in life. Or when you're emotionally detached from everything. This person will randomly appear in your life like a thunderbolt when you least expect it. This person or you may be 20-35 years old when meeting eachother. You may meet them in a few days or 6-12 months, as we have 2 of swords and 6 of pentacles here.
You'll meet them when you're going through a big transformation in your life. Cycles in your life might be ending at that moment. This person will bring happiness in your life.
This person can be your divine counterpart as we have 2 of cups and lovers card. They're very romantic and caring.
You need to work on your fears before meeting them. Do some shadow work. Be aware of what holds you back and restrains you from finding love in your life. Leave the past and move forward in life. It's time for a change.

The Amnesiac's Mistake
Pairing: Zach MacLaren x Reader

Pronouns: She/Her

Tumblr media
The sweet roars of the crowd fill her ears as Y/N points her camera at the soccer team. She’s been the soccer team’s social media content creator for the university since her sophomore year. After her breakup with Zach, it was a little awkward, but they left the relationship on amicable terms and she wouldn’t let a breakup keep her from her dream job. “And MacLaren has the ball. He’s running it up the fie- Oh, MacLaren is down. It looks like the medics are on the way,” the sports announcer’s scream emits from the booming speakers. Y/N removes the camera from her eyes, watching in worry while the medics take Zach off the field. If they had been dating, she would’ve been running after them but it’s no longer her right to be there for him.
——
Zach blinks to readjust his eyes to the room's lights. The medic puts the flashlight back in her pocket, “You seem to have a concussion, Mr. MacLaren. I’m afraid you’ll be out of any games for the foreseeable future and any screens for the next forty-eight hours.” Zach nods, l looking around for his girlfriend. “Where’s Y/N?” he questions. Coach Grace’s eyebrows knit together, “She’s out on the field. Doing her job.” Her slow pace drives him crazy. “Why isn’t she here? I need her here,” he states with his lips slopping to a frown. The medic knows about the breakup as well and this causes her to question if she should add something to his diagnosis.
“Mr. MacLaren, what is the last thing you remember?” she asks. Zach’s hand comes to his forehead, “Uh, we were playing the game against UNC.” Coach Grace’s face scrunches like a dried-up raisin. “That was two months ago,” she breaks the news to him. His eyebrows raise and his mouth drops, “How is that possible? Where is Y/N? She’s my girlfriend. She’s allowed to be here.”
——
Coach Grace runs to Y/N, who is talking to another player on the field. She spots the coach and worry flushes her because it must be serious if Zach was okay, it wouldn’t be taking this long for him to come back out. “Hey, Coach. Is everything alright?” Coach’s head shakes, “No, Zach needs you.” Even with the breakup, Y/N dashes toward the medical room, almost tripping over her feet. Her breath comes out like a panting dog as she stands in the middle of the room. Her hands are on her knees, searching for Zach. His eyes light up when he spots her. He hops off the medical table and rushes towards her, “Are you okay, Baby? Take a deep breath in and out.” She does as he suggests, letting her breath return to normal. Her body straightens up, so they are face to face. He gives her a charming smirk, bringing his hand up to her cheek. His lips find hers. For a moment, she lets them get swept up in the moment, kneading his lips with hers.
She finally snaps back into reality, remembering what happened between them. Her lips leave his with a tiny shove to his chest to keep her away. “Zach, we broke up,” she whispers. The scrunch between his eyebrows smoothes out. Her words bring him back to the present. “Right, right. Sorry. I think I lost my memory for a second,” he reasons. She bites her lip, nodding her head with her eyes cast down, “It’s okay. I guess I’ll just go then.” He watches as she makes her exist. The kiss they shared showed him he made a mistake. They still had that spark and he let her get away.

could you write abt Spencer and reader finding out theyre having twins? ♥️
Morgan was thrilled to have the privilege of knowing your baby's gender before you did. You hadn't been aware of your pregnancy for weeks, attributing the morning sickness to a stomach bug that your friend had passed to you and passing off the slight weight gain as bloating. But Spencer had been surprisingly busy at work these past few months, and when you eventually realized that the last unprotected sex you'd had was around the time you'd started noticing these symptoms, you were both pretty convinced that it was an unplanned pregnancy.
It was difficult waiting to look at the ultrasound photos, and covering your eyes while the doctor checked on the health of your sweet baby was the worst part. But you wanted to announce both the pregnancy and the gender at the same time to the rest of the BAU, and Morgan was the first person you'd thought of to reveal the news. He'd been more than happy - smug, even - to be the first one to see any evidence of the little life inside of you, and he'd walked out of the doctor's office with you beaming bright enough to rival the sun.
Now, only one day after your first ultrasound, you're sitting around a table in Rossi's backyard. You're not sure how Morgan got Rossi to lend out his mansion without telling him about your pregnancy, but you suppose it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if one more person knew. Really, you're more looking to make Garcia squeal so loud she sets off the neighbor's dog.
"Alright, alright," Derek taps his spoon against his glass. Garcia's eyes shoot over to him and she nearly jumps out of her chair, and you wonder if Derek had teased a surprise to her yet.
"There's something Mr. and Mrs. Reid want to tell you," He gestures to you, and Spencer looks to you for an introduction to the topic.
"Do you remember when I got sick a few months ago?" You glance around the table, and faces wrinkle in concern. You suppose everyone is expecting a horrible diagnosis, but they nod anyways.
"Yeah, Spence had to take off from work," JJ recalls, "Is everything okay? Did it come back?"
"Uh," You fiddle with your napkin, "No. Not really? Or- it sort of never left. And I won't be, uh, cured, for another few months."
"Was it a parasite?" Rossi wonders, brows furrowed.
"Well.." Spencer considers, "Technically? But, the good kind."
"The good kind of parasite..." Aaron repeats.
You can't stand the suspense, "I'm pregnant."
"Oh- oh!" There's a round of cheers throughout your guests, big beaming smiles and staccato claps that morph into bear hugs. Penelope giggles at the news, but you don't have time to ask if she's making fun of your sex life before Derek taps his glass again.
"Yes, okay, okay, fantastic work you two, but I'm not done."
Curious eyes turn towards him as he pulls a gift bag from beneath his seat, "I was selected to know the gender of the baby before any of you guys," He boasts, "And I've got a cute little outfit in this bag for the lucky baby."
"Let's see," You gush, "Open it, Spencer!"
Your husband's nimble fingers dig through layers of green tissue until they hit woven wool. He pulls out a blue-knit sweater vest, and his face morphs into a sweet smile.
"A boy!" He cheers, looking over at you with starry eyes, "Y/N, we're having a baby boy!"
"Oh," You gush, visions of tiny fingers and toes filling your mind, "Spencer, you're gonna be a boy dad!"
"Derek, please? Please can I do it now?" Penelope asks, effectively breaking you out of your reverie.
"Yes," Derek laughs, motioning her over to you, "Go ahead. Should'a known, patience is not your virtue."
"Shut up!" She gushes, yanking another bag from beneath her seat and racing over to you as best she can in heels on wet grass, "Y/N! A little something extra for mom."
"Oh," You gush, taking the bag from her, "You knew?"
"I needed her help," Derek explains, sorry that he'd spoiled your secret but rushing you to open the gift bag, 'Now hurry up!"
"Okay, okay!" You let out a breathy laugh, reaching into the tissue paper, "Y'know, I'm pregnant, you can't stress me- out..."
Your fingers hit tulle, and you pull out a pretty pink dress.
You're confused. Sure, girls can wear blue sweater vests, boys can wear pink dresses. But you'd assumed the colored clothing items pertaining to a gender reveal party would be fitting into more traditional gender roles for the sake of symbolism, and leave you with answers, not questions.
"Penelope?" You raise an eyebrow at her, and she grins gleefully at you.
"Twins!" She shrieks, "You're having twins! One boy, and one girl!"
Spencer drops the sweater in his hands.
"Twins," You repeat, mouth slowly falling open, 'Oh my god, there's two?"
"Twins," Spencer parrots, looking at your stomach with a growing grin, "Twins? There's two babies?"
"There's two babies," Penelope gushes, and Derek hands over an envelope of ultrasound photos, "You're gonna have two babies!"
"Three days ago we didn't even know there was one," Spencer marvels, and your hands tremble as you pull out the photos. There, clear as day on the grainy photo, are two outlines, one baby on the left and the other on the right.
"Oh my god," Spencer whispers, reaching over to brush his slender fingers over the photos, "Those are our babies."
"Those are our babies," You repeat, tears budding in your eyes, "Spencer, we're having twins."
"Congratulations, you two," JJ smiles sweetly at you from across the table, and Hotch and Rossi offer you similar well-wishes, "So Spencer, you're gonna put together two cribs?"
"I don't think it'll be safe for me to put together one," He remembers the time he'd tried fixing your broken kitchen chair, and your poor cat had made the mistake of jumping onto it. Needless to say, that incident produced not only a pile of wood, but an angry cat.
"I'll do it," Morgan chuckles, "I want both of your babies to make it into adulthood."
"And I'll buy two times the presents," Penelope promises, "But if they're anything like Reid, I might need help affording the two teeny tiny microscopes."

November 2nd
“You look like you've just been told you’re dying?” It was a voice you didn't recognise that pulled you out of the bottomless pit of worry you'd fallen into as you sat on the edge of the raised garden bed just outside your doctor's office. It's okay, you were probably just told that so it's alright to look like your whole world’s just been flipped on its head.” The man shrugged as he came to sit beside you with his hands in the pockets of his jeans.
“Sorry, sorry–” You shook your head as you wiped your tears and dried your face, probably as patchy and puffy as ever. “Are you a doctor here?”
“Me?” the man smiled as he pointed to his chest with a scoff. “Oh no, no I'm uh–I’m a patient I guess.” The man corrected you as he watched you try to fix yourself up. Before you knew it there was a tissue being held out of you to take.
“Thanks.” You smiled softly with gratitude and accepted the tissue the man wouldn't be wanted back anytime soon.
“No problem.” He nodded. “I saw you come out of Doctor Parsons' office, she's got a pretty rough gig don't you reckon?”
“I'll say.” You agreed, Doctor Parsons probably wanted to go into her profession to help people, but nowadays all it seemed like was she was dishing out hard to swallow diagnoses. “You’re a patent of hers too?”
“Unfortunately, Pancreatic– what about you?” The man asked as you tried to wrap your head around the idea of exchanging diagnosis with another human being.
“I uh–I was just told I have breast cancer.” This complete stranger was the first person you told, before you mum, before your ex husband, before your kids or extended family. This stranger who was sitting next to you outside your local doctors office was the first person beside your doctor to know you had cancer, that your cells were dying–that you were, in fact, dying.
“Oh yeah? What's the going rate for that one?” This all seemed too normal, too calm to be talking about. It wasn't the reaction you'd ever expected although you weren't really thinking about how people would react. “Sorry, I'm being too nosy.” The man beside you reached out and extended his hand towards you. “I’m Jensen, I don't mean to pry, it's just I don't see an awful lot of young people come into this particular doctors office and when I saw you rush out like your world had just been rocked I couldn't help but to follow you out here.” Jensen smiled as you shook his hand. “I'm also incredibly self aware of how creepy that sounds, so again, I'm sorry.”
“No no–” You chuckled as you let go of Jensen's hand. “It's okay, it's just uh, fresh I guess, like ten minutes ago fresh.” You tried to explain the best you could. “Y/n, my names Y/n–”
“Damn Y/n that's hot off the press–” Jesne pressed his lips together in a fine line, he understood what it was like to feel the crushing weight of the world on your chest. He was only in for a chat with doctor Parsons the day he met you. “Listen, in the hopes of not being too forward, can I give you my number?” He asked with a caution laced between his words, ready for rejection. “Not in a, I'd like to take you out sometime, although I wouldn't be opposed.” You had to stop yourself from looking as shocked as you were. Were you really being picked up out the front of a doctor's surgery? “But in more of an I understand what you’re going through kinda way and if you ever need an ear to vent to about the not so glamorous journey you're about to go on, I'd very much like to be that person for you, I always wished I had someone when I first started my battle.”
“Uh, yeah–” You couldn't help but to smile through the dried tears on your face. “Sure, yeah that sounds really nice actually.” WHen you unlocked your phone the realisation that Jake, your ex husband, had been the last person you called dawned on you. He didn't know, he could never know. He wouldn't care enough to want to know. And yet here this stranger was, willing and ready to listen. “And for the record maybe when the dust settles I wouldn't be opposed to the idea either.”
***~***~***~***~***~
“I vow to be your faithful partner in sickness, and in health.” Jake could hear your vow’s ringing out inside his mind as he raced around his childhood bedroom getting his stuff packed to leave. Your voice sounded as if you were standing right before him, plaguing his mind with haunting memories of promises he’d failed to keep.
“I promise to love you unconditionally, to honor and respect you, and bring you solace in times of need.” Your voice was like a hauntingly beautiful memory reminding him of the vows you’d promised each other on your wedding day, right after his father had told him that happiness was essentially a hallmark card scam. Jake could hardly focus as he tried to compose himself enough to just think about what was going on for a second—but then his own voice echoed around in his mind, the voice of his former self who hadn’t yet ruined his marriage spoke up through the darkness of his fuzzy and fragile mind.
“I take you for better or worse, in sickness and in health, in chaos and conflict, through heaven and hell.” Jake felt an anger so deep and overwhelming that he stood from his twin bed and walked a few quick paces across his room to where his closest door was. The animalistic growl that left his body when Jake slammed his fist into the wooden door woke his mother who was sleeping soundly a room or two down the hall. She hadn’t been woken so abruptly like that in years. Not since her children were young adolescence.
With his busted hand and a pain in his chest he could only describe as emotional turmoil, Jake stumbled back over to his bed and picked up his discarded phone. He mulled over the decision for a few seconds before he went through his contacts to find probably the only woman who could give him more of the story.
Your mother, Mary O’Riley. Or as Jake affectionately called her for the better half of your relationship, Maz.
Jake's thumb lingered over her contact for a few seconds before he decided that yes, yes he needed more information. He needed someone to tell him this was all just some sick fucked up prank. He needed someone to tell him that you were in fact, alright, and that you weren’t lying in a hospital bed right now, without him there to hold your hand and tell you everything would be okay.
He’d promised you in sickness and in health.
Jake listened with anticipation and dread as the phone rang against his ear. It rang and rang and rang until finally at the very last second she could—your mother picked up the phone while she sat at your bedside.
“Jacob—“ He heard her coo into the speaker. “You—“
“Tell me she’s not sick Maz.” Was all Jake said. It was stern and filled with heartbreak. “Please, tell me right now that she’s not in the hospital right now.” Your mother could tell Jake was holding back tears through gritted teeth as she turned her head over to the nurses station to see Lydia almost hyperventilating over her mistake. “Maz! FUCKING TELL ME MY WIFE DOESNT HAVE BREAST CANCER!”
The sudden outburst made your mum jump nearly out of her seat as she pulled her phone slightly away from her ear, but it didn’t surprise her. Jake loved you so much, it was only natural he’d be in a state of shock finding out the way he had.
“Jake, sweetheart, I need you to sit down for me.” Mary cooed softly with a sincere expression of empathy. “Please, just sit down and I’ll explain what’s going on.”
***~***~***~***~***~
Lydia had never felt more stressed in her very short lived career. Once she had hung up the phone with who she now knew was probably your ex husband, Lydia's immediate plan was to come clean to your mum as she sat by your bedside. Luckily, your condition post op was pretty good all things considered and instead of taking up another room in the ICU, your surgeon said that it would be best for your recovery to be placed back in the room you would see out the next few weeks of chemotherapy in. There was no escaping the oncology ward, not even a stroke could save you as it seamned.
“Miss O’Riley?” Lydia’s voice shook as she walked into your hospital room to see you sleeping in a drugged out haze of pain relief post op. You weren't expected to be awake for another few hours or so to allow your brain time to rest. “I need to speak with you for a moment, if you have a second.” All of this was going on around you without your knowledge. And quite frankly you wouldn't have wanted to know anyway– I mean, who really wants to be told that their nurse accidentally rang your husband and violated your privacy accidently? Certainly not you.
“Is something wrong with my daughter?” Your mother asked as she held your hand, watching at the monitor told her you were stable, that your heart was beating and that you, despite the odds, would survive another day.
“No, no, your daughter seemed to be responding well post surgery–” Lydia's voice still shook with nervousness for the reaction her actions would invoke. “It's just that I’ve uh–” Lydia was only young, she had so much left to give to the healthcare industry, one mistake couldn’t end her career before it had even started could it? “I accidentally called your daughter's husband, I automatically assumed he would be her emergency contact because he was listed as her husband and–” Lydia tried to get her explanation out as quickly as she possibly could before your mother had a chance to speak. “I'm so sorry, I told him about her current medical condition.”
“Oh god.” Your mother groaned as she looked back to where you laid peacefully unaware that Jake now knew about your whereabouts and health status. “She didn't want him to know, at least not yet anyway.” Your mother explained as she sighed and ran her hands over her face.
“I'm so sorry, I just assumed and before I knew he was asking what the hell I was even talking about and then I looked further down the page and saw that you were listed as her emergency contact.” Lydia was currently seeing her entire career flash before her eyes. All your mother had to do was request to speak to her supervisor, request that she report she violated HIPAA, but she didn't. Your mother simply nodded and accepted the fact a young girl who was only just starting out had made a mistake wasn't life threatening.
“It's alright, just uh, he’s going to come, if I know that man he's going to be on the first flight here so as my daughters medically proxy, can you please adjust her visiting list and add Jake Seresin to the list.” Your mother knew Jake would be calling any minute now and that he knew there was no vacation away. Now that he knew what was going on. Mary fished her phone out of her handbag and sat it on your bedside table in anticipation. She was almost going to set a timer just to see how long it would take her son in law to call.
“You–you aren't going to report me?” Lydia was at this point, in tears. She was so overwhelmed that she could barely see. Your mother felt sympathy for the young woman and really didn't want to be a part of whatever reprimanding could come of a simple mistake. So, she simply shook her head, looked back at her phone for a fleeting moment before she turned to look at you and finally back to Lydia who couldn't have been more thankful for the words that came out of your mothers mother.
“No dear, no I'm not going to report you, mistakes happen–” Your mother pressed her lips together in a fine line as she reached up to touch your cheek with the pad of her thumb. “My daughter knows that all too well.”
***~***~***~***~***~
“Please, just sit down and I’ll explain what’s going on.” Jake listened to what Maz had said and he did what he was told. He had always respected your mum and her natural born wisdom that Jake clung to through the time he had known her. “Are you sitting down?”
“Yeah, yeah i'm sittin.’”
“Jake–” Maz sighed heavily into the phone. “Back in november when Y/n called you about taking the kids for christmas she was sitting in her doctors office.” Jake didn't speak, he listened carefully to every word your mother spoke. His head was spinning as his heart raced. Tears streamed down his cheeks as the realisation set in. “She’d just been told she has a very aggressive form of breast cancer– stage three A, triple positive grade three invasive doctoral carcinoma.”
“Wh-why didn't she just tell me?” Jake knew that the two of you had never been more divided in your marriage, but he always thought that if you were sick to this level, that you'd call and he’d come running. Come hell or high water Jake was going back to Rhode Island to be with you.
“That's a question you’ll just have to ask her.” Your mother replied. “But she's not alone, I'm with her right now, she uh–had a stroke only about an hour after she’d been admitted to oncology, good thing we were already in the hospital when it happened or else it could have been a hell of a lot worse.”
“Maz–” Jake croaked out. “I don't know what I'm supposed to do.” He cried softly into the phone, it broke your mothers heart. “Tell me what I'm supposed to do.” He wasn't asking if he should get a ticket on the next flight out, no. No Maz knew exactly what Jake was asking her and again, it wasn't a question she held the answers to.
“You just have to show up for her.” Was all your mother was able to say. “I dont have the answers this time Sweetheart, I’m not sure how to fix what's broken between the two of you, but I wanna know how soon you can get here–” Your mother paused as she tried to hold back her own tears. “She's not in a good way, she needs her husband Jake, she needs you here.”
Jake remembered that phone call, the one where you initially asked him to take the kids for christmas. He should have asked more questions, should have pressed you a little harder for information. Maybe, just maybe if he did back then, you would have crumbled and told him the truth.
“I'll be there as soon as I can Maz, consider me on the next available flight.”
***~***~***~***~***~
in sickness and in health, in chaos and conflict. It was the only thing Jake could tell himself over and over again as he walked down the large staircase of his parents place. in sickness and in health, in chaos and conflict. Jake had one thing and only one thing on his mind, getting back to you.
“Jacob?” Jake froze as he got to the bottom of the staircase, his mother stood at the top, dressing gown pulled snug against her as she folded her arms across her chest and frowned down at her grown adult son. “What’s going on? It’s almost four in the morning?”
“I just got off the phone with Maz—“ Jake explained as he watched his mum walk down the stairs, her eyes tired from a restless sleep. Having a home full of children and grandchildren didn’t help. “Y/n’s really sick, she’s uh—“ Jake wasn’t sure he wanted his mother to know about your diagnosis before he’d truly had a chance to process it himself. So, he didn’t divulge. “In the hospital, I just need to get back.”
“Get back?” Janeen frowned in displeasure at her son's decision to leave. “What do you mean get back, you only just got here.”
“My wife’s in the hospital Ma, I need to go and make sure she’s alright.” Jake didn’t think he’d have to spell it out, but he did. “I promised her in sickness and in health, unfortunately she’s taken a turn for the worse and she’s at the very least right now the mother of my children, so I need to go and be with her and figure out what’s going on.”
“Y/n is a grown woman who can take care of herself.” Janeen reached up to touch Jake's cheek, however, before she could run the pad of her thumb across Jake's scruffed cheek, he pulled away in anger. “She decided that when she left you? Or don’t you remember what that woman put you through?”
“Ma.” Jake clenched his jaw under the dim light of the main foyer. “I love you, I do, but you need to stop disrespecting her.”
“Disrespecting her?” Jake's mother scoffed as she watched him pick up his duffel bag and head towards the front door. “What about the disrespect she showed this family? The disrespect she showed you when she was unfaithful to her wedding vows and left you! She took your kids away from your Jacob and what? You’re running back to her the second she gets a runny nose?” Jake was holding his tongue between his teeth as his mother followed him out to the cars, he’d already called a taxi. “Honestly I never in a million years thought you’d settle for someone so—“
“MUM!” Jake snapped abruptly, he wasn’t proud of raising his voice with the woman who raised him, gave him life, but my god did she need to back off. “SHUT, THE HELL, UP!” Jake hissed as he saw headlights coming up the drive. “I’m leaving my children here until I figure out what’s going on but so help me god if I get back and your attitude hasn’t done a full three sixty about my wife, the love of my life, you will never see her, or our kids, or me, again!”
Janeen remained silent as she watched the taxi Jake had called pull up to where they were standing. She watched with teary eyes as he threw his bag into the back seat and greeted the driver kindly. He was an older gentleman. Probably mid sixties.
“I will call you when I know more but you have to stop degrading her, I’m the one who drove her away.” Jake had wanted to say this since the first comment his mother ever made about you way back in January just after he’d told her the two of you were separating. Jake took his mother in his arms, he towered over the smaller built woman with graying hair. He let his chin rest on the top of her head and didn’t hold back.
“Just because you never had the courage to leave dad when he stopped loving you the way he should doesn’t mean you get to project your pity on my wife for doing what you always wished you should have.” Jake had never felt such a weight lifted off his chest and immediately knew that the chances of him being invited back for next years Seresin family Christmas was probably a long shot. “You should ask Jasmine about her new nanny.” Jake finished as he pulled away. “I heard she's a really good people pleasure.”
***~***~***~***~***~
“Ordinary streets, Extraordinary stories.” Jake read over your shoulder as you jotted down some ideas for your latest project. “Huh, I like that, it's sorta catchy.” He smiled softly against your cheek before leaving a gentle kiss in his wake. His eyes lingered down to your book proposal for your publisher and continued reading as you sat at your desk, glued to your laptop like a woman on an impossible mission against time. “This collection of stories centers on the idea of ‘accidental death’ and the upheaval caused in the lives of those who lost a loved one in this way.” Jake read outloud over your shoulder in the dimly lit office. “I'm starting to think I should sleep with the lights on at night.”
“One eye open will do.” You mumbled back as you re-read your last sentence and continued on typing like your husband wasn't trying to coax you away from your work. “I have a deadline to meet, so shoo fly, don't bother me.” You teased as Jake moved your hair to one side and began to kiss the juncture of your neck and shoulder. Seduction was usually his strong suit.
It was no shock to Jake that almost immediately out of college you started writing non-stop about the things you were most passionate about. He thought you'd stick it out and become some wildly successful fiction novelist. Perhaps lean into your fascination with dystopian hierarchy, but no. You really came out of the left field when you picked up a publishing gig to write and publish not one, but three true crime biographies. The little bookshop on firth you worked at were so overjoyed for you when you’d told them the big news.
“You are working yourself to the bone, Honey.” Jake replied softly as his hands trailed down your stomach to feel the small but swelling baby bump that was growing bigger by the day.
“Says the guy still in his flight suit–” You fired right back without taking your eyes off the screen of your laptop. Your fingers worked fast to type the thoughts in your mind onto the screen before they were forgotten. If you let your mind wander too far away you'd lose your momentum. “Jake, I need to finish this chapter before bed.”
“No, no, what you need Hon, is to close your laptop and follow me to where I've run you a bath for your surely aching muscles, swollen feet and to ward off that impending cold I know you're coming down with.” Jake caught the way your fingers froze across the keys of your laptop at his thoughtful words, you hadn’t even mentioned feeling under the weather yet. “I heard you sniffling while cooking dinner–thought I better be proactive and try help you sweat it out.”
You felt the heat in your cheeks rising as a smile crept across your face. You looked down at the ring on your left ring finger and tried not to cry. You could have blamed it on the raging pregnancy hormones from the twin Seresin babies currently using your body as a host, but you knew it was just the overwhelming love you felt.
“You ran me a bath?” It was something you didn't know you needed until Jake had mentioned it.
“Not to toot my own horn or nothin but I lit your favorite candles too, even went as far as to put a few rose petals in the bubbles.” Jake watched as you spun around in your chair to face him with big teary eyes and an even bigger baby bump. “Gotta look after my girl, can't have the mother of my children feeling sick, now can I?”
“I'm intrigued to see what kind of special treatment I'll receive if I'm ever really unwell if this is what I'm getting for a runny nose.” You teased as Jake helped you up off your work chair. His hand went straight to the small of your back to guide you out of the study down the hall towards the bathroom where he had everything set and sorted for you.
“Hopefully we never get to the point where you're chronically ill.” Jake kissed your temple as he walked with you. “Never wanna see you sicker than a cold.” He explained as your eyes went wide with wonder and ore at the sight of your bathroom fully lit with candles. “But trust that I'll be right by your side, holding your hand through whatever may come.”
“You really didn't have to do all this for me.” You sighed as Jake started to help you undress. You watched him with love filled eyes through the mirror as his hands roamed your body, stripping articles of clothing from your pregnant silhouette.
“Nonsense, I'll always do things like this for you.” Jake shrugged it off like his actions were no big deal. To him at that moment they really weren't, he was just trying to help wherever he could. “But you should probably wake up now–”
“What do you mean?” A slow steady beeping broke through your mind as your body began to feel numb.  “Jake—“ You frowned as the bathroom faded around you. “Jake?” You called out as you felt yourself feeling heavy and lethargic. “Jake—?”
“Sweetheart can you hear me?” Your mother asked as your surgeon tried to assess your ability to open your eyes. The small light that was shining in your eyes did little to cure your confusion.
“Jake?” You asked again as your eyes fluttered open, you groaned softly in annoyance to the light of the hospital room you woke up in. “Where’s Jake?” Everything was so blurry, so confusing, the last thing you remembered was getting ready for a bath, now you where here in a hospital room.
“He’s not here Sweetheart, do you remember what happened?” When you didn’t answer your doctor interjected to jog your memory.
“You had a minor stroke Mrs Seresin, lucky for you you were already on sight when it happened—do you remember why you’re here?” As you looked around at the Christmas lights that now decorated your hospital room and the small Christmas tree in the corner on the coffee table near the old recliner, you remembered.
“Oh.” That’s right you thought to yourself, you were separated. Jake didn’t care, not anymore. He’d stopped running baths for you years ago. “Oh, yeah—I remember.” You whispered before a single tear ran down your face.
“I remember everything.”

Pre-season Testing - Bahrain The door to the hotel room opened and Lando’s keys jingled as he tossed them on the kitchen table before he called out to you. Following the sound of your voice, he nudged the bathroom door open wider to see the spa bath overflowing with bubbles and the candles flickered from the draft of the door.
“Hi baby,” you greeted as you tipped a few drops of lavender oil into the water.
Lando used the heel of his shoe to kick the door closed behind him before pulling his shirt over his head and crossing the tiled floor. “Hi,” he breathed across your nape as he grabbed your hips and pulled your back flush against his chest. “Is this for me?”
You tipped your head back on his shoulder and peered up at him with a lazy smile. “Only if you let me join you.”
His hands untied the bathrobe and he tugged it from your body when he stepped back, biting his lip as his eager eyes traced your body. He couldn’t undress fast enough, carelessly shoving his jeans down his legs and kicking them to the corner of the room before stepping into the bath and sighing with contentment as he submersed himself in the hot water. “Come on then, love,” he invited as he held his hand out for you, his wedding band catching the lights. “Waited all day for this.”
Lando looked completely relaxed as he rested his head back on the lip of the bath and his hands ran up the smooth expanse of your calves when you stepped in. A mischievous smile played as his lips when he reached the back of your knees and tugged. You squealed with surprise as you started to fall towards him before his large hands caught your waist and safely lowered you the rest of the way until you were straddling his hips.
“Not funny,” you chided with a little laugh as you splashed him with water.
He wiped away the water with a laugh before you draped your arms around his neck and kissed the short hairs along his jaw that had grown back since he shaved earlier in the morning. The last twelve hours had been long but there was a light in his eyes that had been regenerated behind the wheel of his race car in the middle eastern heat.
“I told you I won’t let you fall,” he reminded, turning his face to meet your lips.
“But then you made me fall in the hardest way,” you teased, and his face looked a little smug as you whispered, “in love.”
“Yes, I did,” he smirked. His hand wet your hair as he cupped the back of your head and drew you closer so he could deepen the kiss and you felt his body stirring beneath yours. “That’s exactly how I plan to keep you for the rest of my life.”
“Speaking of life, there’s not much longer we can keep this one secret…”
Lando’s smile grew as you sat up and the slight swell of your abdomen became more noticeable. You thought your period hadn’t returned because you were breastfeeding Ren. It wasn’t until her first birthday when the smell of the strawberry cake made you rush to the bathroom that you found out you were pregnant. Almost four months along, in fact.
Lando had been overjoyed at the news and, once the shock wore off, you were too.
He had been due to start weaning off his medication before the new season began but with the slight curveball his doctor had suggested waiting a while longer. It had meant letting the FIA know what he was taking since everything showed up in the drug screening but it didn’t come as a shock since he had been open with everyone about his diagnosis of postnatal depression and anxiety.
Lando had begun taking the anti-anxiety medication shortly after his sudden retirement announcement at Imola and, after a few tweaks to the dosage, he found his overactive thoughts calmed and he started to feel less like a passenger in his own body. You had your husband back and he found his confidence once more.
“So we don’t,” he said as his thumb traced one of the many stretch marks on your stomach before his eyes travelled up your body to meet yours. “You are so beautiful, my love.”
Lando’s hand drifted down over your hip and between your thighs, his thumb circling your clit until your head fell back with a soft moan. “Are you sure?” you asked before you lost all ability to think.
“That you are beautiful? Absolutely.”
Goosebumps broke out as he teased the column of your neck with whispers of kisses, his breath warmer than the touch of his lips. “Lando…”
He pulled back and you lost yourself to his fathomless eyes as his smile faded and seriousness shaded his features. “I’m sure, love.”
Excitement at the thought of sharing the happy news had you lean forward and deepen the kiss as you rose on your knees. Lando’s hands glided over your skin to reach your hips, gripping them as he guided you down over him with a satisfied moan, your body stretching to welcome him.
You grabbed the edge of the bath and he watched with half-lidded eyes as you slowly rode him, the water gently lapping at the marble walls of the bath. There was no rushing or haste, Renleigh was with Grandma Maria and there was no place either of you needed to be other than in this moment.
“Are you going to tell me how the car ran?”
His lips curled up into a proud grin and the teasing circles of his thumb shifted as he applied pressure where you needed it most, your back arching in response as he tested your ability to multitask and concentrate. “She’s a rocket, love. I can’t wait to get back in there tomorrow.”
Your eyes fluttered shut at the pleasure both his body and his words gave you. His passion for racing had returned with the combination of counselling and medication and to hear it in his voice brought you an incredible amount of joy.
“This is it,” he continued, his voice a little breathless as he felt your core tightening around him. “I have a good feeling about this year.”
Warmth spread through your body and the waves slapped at the lip of the bath as you rocked your hips faster. “Me too, baby. This is your year, I can feel it.” Your words faded to incoherent moans and your knees clamped around his hips as your pleasure peaked.
“I know what you're feeling…” Lando gave a husky chuckle as he cupped your ass with both hands and ground his hips up into you with his own release. “All me, baby.”
The bath water was nearly cold by the time you got out. It had been far too comfortable laying back in Lando’s embrace, his hands resting on your little bump. It was too soon for him to feel the small kicks that you could but he held it just in case.
“We should get going,” you interrupted the peace and quiet.
Lando groaned as you got out of the bath, all too happy to stay in the bath all night if it meant he could hold your body against his. But he also missed Renleigh and for her he pulled himself up and accepted the towel you held out.
You weren’t sure you were going to make it out of the hotel room when he saw the dress you wore. The material was tight in all the right places and you could see the ideas floating through Lando’s mind as he twirled a finger until you gave him a little spin.
“I need to learn some French from Maria,” he uttered after he rolled his tongue across his bottom lip. “There’s so many English words to describe how beautiful you are, but it’s still not enough.”
“You hit 30 and turned into an old sap,” you teased as you tossed him the room keys.
“You hit 30 and turned into a milf,” he shot back with a wink as he swaggered towards the door but you caught him by his belt as he passed by you.
“You think you can call me that and get away without backing it up?” you asked as you tugged him closer and captured his smirking lips in a searing kiss. You pulled away breathless before you could wrap your legs around him and gave him a small push away that made him chuckle.
“Hormones got the better of you again, love?” he asked knowingly as you fanned your face and narrowed your eyes at him.
“Just walk behind me,” you ordered as you opened the door and stepped out. “If I look at you I’m going to try to jump you in a maintenance closet or something.”
Lando’s laugh followed you the entire way down the hall but there was no way you could avoid looking at him when the elevator doors closed. A smug grin split his face as he leaned against the mirrored wall and crossed his arms. “Feeling okay?”
You shot him a dirty glare that only amused him further and just to throw fuel on the fire he reached up to stretch his back with a satisfied sound that should have been reserved for the bedroom. The tanned skin over his toned abs peeked out as his fingers touched the ceiling and you swallowed at the sight before turning your back on him.
“Now you’re just being mean,” you murmured, meeting his sparkling blue eyes in the mirror.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Thankfully the hotel was wider than it was tall and it didn’t take long to reach the lobby floor where Maria was just arriving for the evening event after enjoying the day with Renleigh.
“Where’s Zak?” Lando asked as he lifted a wriggling Ren into his arms. Now that she could walk she had no interest in being carried and squirmed until he reluctantly placed her feet back on the ground.
“You know how it is with time zones, Indycar starts this week too so he’s just catching the end of that practice,” Maria shrugged, well and truly used to her husband up at all hours for meetings with his other McLaren race teams. “He’ll join us shortly.”
“Ow, fu-udge,” Lando almost swore as he cupped himself, his teammate popping out from behind him guilty of the childish act they never outgrew.
“Sorry,” Carlos laughed unapologetically as he kissed your cheek. “I had to get him back for earlier.”
“You can hit him all you want now,” you said with a wave to your husband who had the tenacity to look betrayed, despite his actions in the elevator.
“You must have really pissed her off, ay ‘mano,” Carlos tutted with a shake of his head.
“No,” Lando groaned as he straightened up and righted himself with a shift of his legs. “I just don’t need my bollocks anymore, thanks for that mate.”
“But I thought you wanted…what!” Carlos’ eyes widened as he looked at you, stepping a bit to the side so he could see your profile before his hand flew to his mouth. “¿Estás embarazada? You’re pregnant?”
“Almost half way along,” you confirmed as Lando smiled proudly. “You’re the first outside of the family to know.”
Carlos’ excitement burst free in a torrent of Spanish as he picked Lando up in a big hug before scooping up Ren. She didn’t fuss like she did with you and Lando, instead she was too busy trying to steal the gold chain that hung around Carlos’ neck.
“Outside of the family,” Carlos scoffed at Ren. “What is your mama talking about? I’m Tio Carlos. Say it with me, Ti-o Car-los.”
“Ti-ti!” Ren babbled with a clap of her hands.
“That’s right, sweetheart,” Lando smirked. “His name is Uncle Titty. Good girl.”
Carlos rolled his eyes and continued to try to get your daughter to speak. “Ti-o, Tee-ooh, Tio, ah, we’ll work on it.”
More drivers soon arrived at the first event of the year and Lando was greeted warmly by them all. Though the medication had quickly made a difference to him, he hadn’t changed his mind about retiring until the end of the season - after months of exploring his fears and thinking with a psychologist and sharing them with you.
Zak had been relieved to hear the news that he was going to return, especially when he also told Lando that Carlos was returning after hearing rumours he wanted out of Ferrari. The two had good history and worked well as a team so there wouldn’t be any of the usual teething problems that came with breaking in new teammates. It was Zak’s dream team for winning that elusive Constructors Championship and with Max having retired from Formula One there was a real shot.
Lando looked around and you saw the little slump of his shoulders when he remembered he wouldn’t find Max. The five time World Champion was probably enjoying his retirement on his super yacht along the Amalfi Coast or playing in a Fifa tournament. But, no matter what, they always found time to hang out and get brunch at least once a month when they were both in Monaco at the same time.
“It’s weird isn’t it?” Carlos asked, having looked for him too when the Red Bull drivers arrived.
“Weirder than when Lewis and Nando left,” he muttered.
A waitress circled with a tray of champagne flutes and Carlos plucked two up, bypassing you and Lando to hand it to Maria. There was only a small look of longing that Lando had as the flute passed by but he wasn’t allowed to drink with his tablets and the one time he had ignored that advice has left him with his head in the toilet bowl after only two shots.
“We didn’t grow up with them though, I think that’s what makes it strange.” Carlos took a sip of his drink before spotting Charles on the other side of the room. “Now we are the old dogs.”
“Speak for yourself, mate. How’s that going?” Lando asked, noticing the same stiffening in Carlos as you had.
“It is what it is,” Carlos sighed before finishing the rest of his drink to build up the courage to talk to his old teammate. The two hadn’t left on the greatest of terms, since Carlos had inadvertently blamed the fact that Ferrari held favouritism towards Charles as the main reason for leaving. “I should go talk to him.”
Carlos kissed Ren’s head and carefully removed his necklace that she had tangled around her fingers before passing her to Lando.
“Good luck,” you wished him with a smile as you rubbed his arm. “If it comes to a dust up in the car park, Nurse Norris is pretty good at patching people up.”
He managed a small laugh and relaxed a little knowing that at least it was something that would never happen. There had often been tension between the two throughout their years on the same team, sometimes more than the level it was currently at, so he was fairly certain that this too would blow over.
A pair of arms wrapped around your waist as you watched Carlos leave before scanning the crowd of both new faces and old. “Glad you came back?” you asked as you rested your head on Lando’s shoulder.
“Yeah, couldn’t have done it without you.” You felt his smile against your cheek that he pressed to his, watching the crowd grow from over your shoulder. He started to pull away for a moment as Renleigh darted off to a familiar face but he caught himself before he could become the helicopter parent. It was Zak she had barrelled towards and was carrying her back on his hip.
“This is where you belong,” you said as you squeezed his hand. “It’s your oxygen.”
Lando turned you in his arms and shook his head as he tipped your chin back to hold you captive with his eyes. “You’re my oxygen, love. You, Ren, this little one,” he swore as he cradled your bump. “I love racing, but I can live without it. I need you to survive.”
The end…

You ran through the aisles of the store as if you were being chased. And you really were, but the thing giving you chase had already caught up: the gray anxiety was perched on your shoulders, pressing along your joints like a sloppy masseur.
Salad. No need for a doctor, just a salad.
This was your mantra, with which you tried to control the despair, to slow down the panic that insinuated into your blood. With trembling fingers, you shoved the right products into your basket, and then you were already scrambling for the next ingredient.
Carrot, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, purple cabbage, corn - as Jungkook likes it. As soon as you had everything, you hurried to the cash register. The marble screeched under your feet as you suddenly stopped to avoid bumping into the person in front of you in the line. The man turned to you in disdain, but that was the least of your concerns right then. You had to make the salad: that was the most important thing. The fact that you were dead tired, that you did not plan on coming to the store, what you wanted to do half an hour ago, or what the guy thinks is completely negligible.
The only person standing before you in line was that guy, and he didn't buy anything other than some yogurt, bread and beer, still, you felt that the slowing factors took too long. For example, the cashier boy who scanned the products you were about to buy with a broad half-smile.
"Light dinner?"
"Yeah. For my hybrid."
Before the boy could speak - forcing his phone number into your hand, asking for a date or keeping you there with questions or more words - you stuffed the last carrot into your bag, scattering the money in front of the other.
"Bye!"
You dashed out of the store into the early evening cool, and ran home.
You hoped something had changed, but no. Jungkook was still curled up on the sofa, unmoving. Taking one look at him was enough to increase your concerns. You threw yourself into the kitchen. The vegetables were scattered on the counter, the tools clattered from the drawer to them, and the water was gurgling noisly from the tap. Your hair and clothes stuck to your sweaty skin. Fear gripped your heart like a baby holding onto its mother.
No need for a doctor. I can solve it myself.
Although you worked hard, and almost cutting your skin in your rush, the encouraging thought meant less and less, your hope faded into inconceivability with the passing of time.
"Kook? What's wrong?" The boy could always turn to you with his problems, and this turned out to be valid the other way around as well. Jungkook's wise insight and cheerful attitude have helped you a lot since you started living together. In addition to the owner-hybrid relationship, you were also roommates and friends.
When you first saw Jungkook on the couch, you thought he was sleeping. In the beginning of you two living together, the boy often slept with his eyes open, closing them only after full trust had been established. By the way, this wouldn't have been the first time that he fell asleep on the couch. But this was different. You wanted to tuck him in, and the boy's gaze focused on you, then he stared ahead again, uninterested. He also blinked.
He wasn't asleep at all.
Jungkook didn't answer. You weren't freaked out yet. Jungkook had instinctive actions and behaviors, but he was unable to verbalize them. He once summed it up by saying that in such cases the rabbit is the master, who only communicates through action.
"If you can't talk about it, just nod or shake your head." You waited half a minute. "Did I hurt you with something?"
You were about to caress his arm, but Jungkook pushed you away before you could touch him. Then you understood, something really must have happened. Not only was the boy not in the mood, he didn't want any of your company either. This has never happened before. In addition, the warning signs were lining up: him cowering, ears flattened, rejecting your approach.
The boy's rabbit self emphasized his condition. You heard somewhere - in a documentary, from a doctor friend, or maybe from one of your exes, who knows - that rabbits can be sick and depressed if they show these symptoms and don't eat.
So you, as soon as you realized, you jumped up, pulled your coat back on as you had just taken it off, and whirled through the streets to make Jungkook's favorite salad. Because if he eats, you won't have to be afraid, you would be enough to help.
The meal was ready in twenty minutes. Sighing, you headed into the living room to regulate your breathing. You couldn't know if you were overreacting or if such intense distress was justified. You were sure of one thing: how important Jungkook is to you, along with his physical and mental health.
"Kook?" You knelt in front of the couch again, this time balancing the dish you prepared. The hybrid didn't even turn to look at you now. You felt your heart cramp up. "Please." You put your elbow on the edge of the couch, pushing the plate closer to him. "Eat up."
If something didn't happen then, you would have cried. But luckily, Jungkook reacted: his nose moved, crinkling sweetly. He smelled the salad. Then his eyes searched for the source of the scent, but his hands still didn't reach for it. You already considered this a big step forward, you were a little relieved: when you put the first bite in Jungkook's mouth, you felt better. Jungkook started chewing. The sounds of his munching was music to your ears.
You didn't speak, but the more the boy ate, the more lively he became. His black ears slowly rose, and he pushed himself up into a sitting position too. Jungkook put the last lettuce leaf and piece of carrot in his mouth with his own hand. You sat next to him and watched him happily. You didn't dare to touch him yet.
After finishing the meal and placing the bowl next to the couch, the hybrid crouched down next to you uncertainly, seemingly trying to say something, but in the end he just nudged your upper arm with his nose, pushed it, then ducked under, still poking the body part. Jungkook let you know in rabbit language that he needed care and caress. You smiled, running your fingers through the boy's hair, fluffy ears nuzzling your neck as Jungkook snuggled into your shoulders, his muscular arms wrapped around your waist, cuddling close. You caressed his face, his shoulders, all along his back. The bunny grinded his teeth in satisfaction.
Everything was resolved, order was restored, you thought.
You were wrong.
Whatever was weighing down on Jungkook's soul, the problem didn't go away, the salad was merely a distraction for him. You were confronted with this the next morning, as the boy curled up in a lethargic state on the edge of the bed. Somehow you knew that salad wasn't going to help anymore here. The boy's entire body tensed up as if he was an angry stone statue.
There was no question that you wouldn't go to work. You rang your boss in your pajamas to tell him you were taking the day off. The latter reacted with complete understanding. Immediately after the end of the conversation, you called your doctor friend to come over.
"Y/N, you know it takes two for a hybrid. A doctor specializing in humans and a veterinarian. I'm only the latter. Namjoon is currently operating, so you need to wait."
"You will be enough. I can't bring Kook in. He doesn't move, doesn't speak. I think he has more rabbit-like problems."
"Okay, I'll be there in twenty to twenty-five minutes. Stay with him until then."
"I'm not going anywhere."
You did as you said. You carelessly threw your phone on the couch and retreated to the bedroom, laying down next to Jungkook. You scanned his stiff back muscles, and now you were completely devastated because you didn't know how to help. You wanted to give him at least a comforting hug to let him know you were there for him, but your approach was rebuffed with a grunt. Jungkook didn't want any of your company again.
Seokjin arrived as he promised, but for you, time was slowed down by your own grinding agony and terrifying visions. Hearing the knocking, however, time jolted back a little into its place. You jumped up and ran to the door. The man came in a doctor's coat, carrying a bag.
"Come." You grabbed Seokjin's hand, who would've protested and said something about his shoes. "It doesn't matter, just come."
You basically dragged him into the bedroom. Like a melancholic painting, there Jungkook was: in rolled up blankets, just staring at the wall. No happy colors, just gray, black and sad blue.
"Please, help him!" You dropped onto the bed, whispering your plea to your guest, who nodded and approached the patient.
"Hi, Jungkook. I'm going to run some routine tests on you, okay?"
"In this current condition, he doesn't like to be touched." You warned Seokjin.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you." He put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. The boy didn't react, just tolerated it.
Seokjin then checked his breathing, body temperature, and heart rate.
"That would be it, rest easy!" Seokjin headed outside and motioned for you to follow him with a jerk of his head. You obeyed. The man closed the door and settled down on the living room sofa. You sat down next to him, wringing your hands.
"What's up with him?"
"He's warm, but no fever. His heart rate is high, but that could also be from stress. I don't see any signs of sickness, but something really freaked him out. How long has he been like this?"
"I noticed yesterday when I came home that Jungkook was lying on the sofa and not moving. It's possible that he had been sitting like that for a long time. I made him a salad, then he got up and ate, but this morning he was curled up again."
"Didn't he get some sort of shock? Wasn't he acting strange before?"
You were about to say no when you remembered the past week and the incident the morning before.
"He pokes me a lot with his chin, bites me and licks my skin. Sometimes he even nips me. And after he got up yesterday, he ran around me like five times. In the meantime, he made a strange oinking sound."
You still remembered the boy's sparkling eyes when he stopped, his raised ears, his sniffing nose. His body stiffened with excitement. You didn't know how to react, so you just smiled and went to make your coffee.
And Seokjin started laughing. You stared at him in disbelief. The man snorted, still chuckling. You were about to punch him on the shoulder, but Seokjin - to his luck - spoke up.
"He loves you very much."
You knew that, you loved him too. But the way Seokjin emphasised his words somehow suggested something else.
"What do you mean?"
"You are his human owner. You act like one most of the time. To Jungkook, however, you are no longer just an owner. Biting and licking in rabbit language means a love confession. He also marked you with the scent glands under his chin as his property. And running means clear courtship. Since you didn't reciprocate that, he has to process that you rejected him, and it's hard when you're always around, wanting to touch him."
You had a revelation.
"I didn't know. If I had known - How can I undo it?"
"Why? You love him in the romantic sense?"
That was a pretty straightfoward question, but you knew the answer very well.
"Damn it! Yes! I'm head over heels for him. And yes, I do want to be with him. So how do I change my no to a yes?" All this flooded out of you: you were worried and nervous, you couldn't help it. You were at your wits end because of your own helplessness.
"Jungkook is not acting like a human right now. First, you have to make yourself understood by the rabbit living inside, only then you can tell the person your feelings. You have to become a rabbit and reciprocate the gestures with which he expressed himself to you."
Seokjin gave you instructions, then left. You were very grateful, but you couldn't express it properly yet, first you had to express something else to someone else.
You returned to the bedroom to confess to Jungkook with bunny talk. You laid down next to him again, this time taking care not to touch him with your hands, as you weren't needed as an owner or as a human. You swallowed nervously, then ventured closer to Jungkook's nape.
You bit him gently. Almost immediately after that, both of Jungkook's ears perked up, his body was tense in a different way: he was listening intently. Feeling thousands of butterflies with wings of hope in your body, you ventured further, licking along his artery. After this action, you moved away, blushing.
Jungkook sat up, facing you. His gaze was clear, peaceful, maybe a little disappointed, but mostly knowledge was visible in it.
"I love you."
"I know. Like a friend. I understand now."
"No." You scrambled to your feet, pulling him with you. You took some measurements to fit between Jungkook and the bed, moving him to the position you wanted to.
Then you ran around him several times, trying to imitate the strange sound that Jungkook also made, the kind of cooing.
When you stopped, your heart was pounding like a speeding train... Or like a rabbit hybrid who had just confessed their love.
"I love you," you whispered weakly. "I love you in this sense."
A huge grin appeared on Jungkook's face as he suddenly took you in his arms, spinning you around in the room and then finally threw himself along with you onto the bed.
In his happiness, he also did something that you as his owner and as a human immediately understood: he kissed you. Tenderly, softly, truly in love, and at the same time he held your face in the palm of his hand. As he leaned away, he covered his flushed face with his fluffy ears. He laughed.
"Kook..."
You were beautiful with a pleading blush. And your heart belonged to Jungkook.
So he kissed you again.

Situationship! Simon "Ghost" Riley
Pt. 2 of this
Tumblr media
(This gif gets me bro. Stop looking at me like that omg 🤭🤭💦)
Tumblr media
Neither of you really remember the contents of that drunken night enough to have predicted this life changing event. Everything in your lives continues as normal for about 3 weeks. It's about a week into Simons 2 month deployment when you start feeling the classic symptoms of pregnancy. First it's the missed period- whatever, you've had irregular periods since you were 13 so it doesn't particularly worry you especially since you and Simon were always safe (😬). The soreness of your breasts happens soon after that and then it's the nausea and bloating. At this point you're still clueless. You assume it's your late period finally deciding to show up (it's not your fault that early pregnancy feels the same as starting your time of the month.)
However, when 2 more weeks pass with all of the same irritating symptoms but no period you decide to give your doctor a quick call just to see if it's necessary to come in for a visit at this point. You set an appointment for the next day as she recommends just to make sure it's not a hormone issue or something.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you're sitting on the stiff hospital bed, a nurse comes by to ask a few questions to help your doctor when she comes in later. It's the normal questions- “What are your symptoms?” You list them off. “How long have you had these symptoms?” “About 2 weeks.” “Any allergies to medication?” “No.” “Are you sexually active?” “Yes” “Is there any chance you could be pregnant?” “No. Wait-” Condoms aren't 100% effective tho so there's a sliver of a chance. “Maybe?"
“Well it couldn't hurt anything to do a test."
You doubt you need it but it's better to be safe anyways (see what I did there?) She brings you a cup and instructs you to pee in it and bring it back to her and you think of how embarrassing that is as you walk to the bathroom. Once the job is done you rush back to your room like a man on a mission, your mission is to not be seen carrying a cup of your own pee around.
You're talking to your primary doctor about your symptoms when the nurse walks back with a cheshire grin on her face and clipboard in her hands. “Well Doc, I think we know what the diagnosis is.” She gushed as she handed the clipboard over to the doctor. “Y/n, congratulations. You're about 6 weeks pregnant.” Your doctor remarked with less enthusiasm than the nurse, unsure how you feel about the news. “You have multiple options moving forward. You can keep the baby, you can-" You snap back to reality at these words and interrupt with a harsh “I'm keeping the baby."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From then, you move forward with appointments and start looking for a better apartment to raise a child in. Though you wish you could contact Simon to tell him, you're quite thankful for the opportunity to process it for yourself. It also gives you plenty of time to prepare yourself for his possible reaction. You know this is strictly casual and he doesn't want kids in the future, let alone at this point in his life. Considering this, you ready yourself to lose him before you ever even have him and have to raise this kid alone.
You were hoping that Simon would eventually come around to your charm and your relationship would gradually become less and less casual but you're sure this will scare him away for good. You are incredibly disappointed that you'll never know what it's like to be loved by him but you can't imagine not raising this baby. You're not sure whether you'd prefer the baby to be more like you or Simon. As much as you'd love to get to see him in the tiny person that you created together, you don't want to be reminded of what you could've had.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Simon goes to text you to tell you he's coming back a bit earlier than previously thought but decides that this time he'll surprise you by showing up at your doorstep. God he's missed you so much. He's missed your smile and pretty eyes. He's missed your voice and the way you laugh at his grim “jokes". He's missed the way your mouth feels wrapped around his cock. He can't help crawling back to you.
He arrives at your door with takeout and a bottle of red wine and woefully unprepared for the sight he's about to be met with. When the door finally creaks open, he's face to face with you once again but something's different now. Now there's a barely noticeable but definitely there baby bump. His eyes instinctively glue themselves to the soft swell of your tummy as he just stares with a completely unreadable expression. “Simon-" “Y/n." You can't help the tears that start to sting at your eyes. “Surprise?" You croak out painfully, under the impression that this is the last crumb you'll ever get of Simon."You're-”
"Pregnant” you cut him off. “It's mine?" “Of course." The tears that blur your vision drop and trail down your cheeks as he watches your lip tremble.
He welcomes himself into your home, setting his things down on your entryway table and pulling you in close. He holds you tight, cradling your head in his hands lovingly. “Don't cry love. Why are you crying?" He whispers softly into your hair. He rubs your back soothingly as you sob into his chest “Don't wanna lose you. I'm sorry, Simon, I know you don't want this."
It's at this moment he recalls that night he drunkenly bred you. Suddenly his eyes darken with an unknown emotion and something in the air shifts as he discovers that side of him for the first time again but sober this time. It's like something primal clicks in his brain and he's looking at you lustfully. He brings his hand down to cup your swollen belly and drops his mouth down to drop a tender kiss on your lips. “If I remember correctly, this is my doing Lovie" he whispers against your soft lips. “What do you mean?" You ask perplexed. You don't know what’s going on. He's not freaking out. For some reason he's saying this was his doing. “You don't remember?" Simon teases as he slowly picks you up and starts marching to your bedroom."Remember what? What are you talking about, Si?” your worry dissipates fully and now you're more confused and curious than anything as he carries you off. “Guess I'll just have to show you." He threatens as he lays you down on your bed.
Best believe you remember by the end of the night.
“i just don’t understand why it’s so hard to wear a jacket,” geto muttered under his breath, mentally rolling his eyes, as he poured you a cup of tea. “seriously, what do you even have it for” “i can hear your thoughts from the bedroom!” you yelled, a small smile on your lips. he was always like this. shortly after geto entered the room, the corners of his mouth still upturned. “you can, can‘t you?” “mhhm,” you affirmed, gratefully accepting the hot cup that immediately warmed your cold hands. “well, maybe wear that jacket next time, don’t you think?”
GOJO SATORU: doesn’t leave you alone. at all. you barely have room to breathe
“get off me,” you huffed, weak arms pushing against his form. “nu-uh,” he sang, closing his arms around you and pressing your form against his body, “i gotta take care of my sick baby after all” you knew satoru well enough so you were aware that any further protests would be pointless. so you only sighed, shutting your eyes. “i don’t want you to get sick too,” you muttered in defeat. “me? i never get sick!”
NANAMI KENTO: how to take care of sick people 101
as your door opened, nanami poked his blonde head inside, quickly glancing over you before entering. in his hands he held a bowl, soft steam rising from it. “i brought you some soup,” he commented, carefully placing it on your nightstand. before you could even thank him, he already placed his hand on your forehead. “you still have a fever” you could only stare up at him with big eyes, body too exhausted to even answer to him. slowly he helped you to sit up, back leaning against the headboard. “come, you have to eat something. then you can go back to sleep, okay, darling?”
SHOKO IERI: would definitely fight your doctor over every diagnosis and prescribed medicine
“can’t we just get the prescription and be done with it?” you whined, shifting in the seat of the car while glancing at shoko. “your doctor is an idiot,” she only commented, rolling her eyes, “ain’t no way we’re getting that” “come on!” you protested weakly, “let’s just get it please, i really don’t have the energy to argue with you about this” after a couple of silent seconds, she sighed, hand reaching over to grad yours. “fine,” she said, pressing a soft kiss on your hand, eyes shifting to you. “whatever you need, love”
HEY BABE I LOVEEEE YOUR WRITING (like i binge read ts like every other night😭) Could we get an MCU!peter x Stark/Avenger!reader angst? Like reader gets hurt on mission or loses control of their powers or smthn? Luv uuuuu
this wasn't very angsty but it's cute me thinks
Your eyes burned.
You weren’t sure if it was from tiredness or the tears you were blinking back, it could’ve been a combination of both, but it felt more like tears of rage, maybe that’s why they burned.
You were hurt.
You were the one that got hurt and your boyfriend should be there for you but he’s not, he’s too upset at you getting hurt to be there for you while you were hurt, makes sense, right? You had assumed the rule in a relationship was that no matter how upset, if one person got hurt the other would be there. You had assumed wrong.
So, you were in the medical wing in the tower with a hurt arm, skinned knee and a fat bruised ego. All while blinking back tears, half because you’re scared, half because you want peter but you feel like he’s punishing you with his absence.
Your dad rushed through the doors to your side, he pressed a kiss to your forehead, you lent into his hold, you wished your boyfriend was here.
“How pissed is he?”
Tony has a flashback to five minutes ago in the kitchen, peter’s body paced up and down the side of a counter, his thoughts spinning and spitting out as fast as they came. Mostly rants about how you don’t listen and he can finally sympathize with tony on that subject.
“He had some opinions.”
You groan and wince in the fluorescent lighting, you were dead set in your tracks, you swore up and down that you did the right thing but now you start to understand peter’s side, suddenly you’re not so sure you understand your side anymore.
“Do you think you can convince him to come down here?”
Your father hummed, “give me a few minutes, honey. I’ll send him down.” He landed one last kiss to your hairline and retreated upstairs, your gut swimming in nerves for when you see him, his words of frustration left with you from the quinjet.
You held your eyes closed and listened to the buzz of the lights. Your head throbbed and so did your shoulder, the medicine not yet taking hold. Your arm was now tugged into your chest from a sling, and your knee was wrapped in gauze.
A throat clears, you peek your eyes open. It’s your boyfriend.
You wanted to be upset but all you felt was relief, suddenly everything felt okay.
Peter frowns looking at your patched up body, he sports his own graze across his cheek, the rest of him seems okay from his house clothes, his arms clean and legs hidden in sweatpants.
“How you feeling, trouble?”
 You pout, “hurties.”
His fingers tickle your good knee, “diagnosis ouchies?” You try to laugh but quickly groan, the movement pounds in your mind.
“Dislocated shoulder, skinned knee and big bruised ego.”
“What about the concussion?”
You raise a finger in agreement, “I keep forgetting about that.”
It was a hard fall, peter had his back turned and explicitly told you not to do what you did because you’d get hurt, sure enough you still dove and fell flat, by the time he noticed it was too late to shoot a web at you, he had to watch you hit the ground and he wanted to feel bad but annoyance seeped through, he told you not to do it and you never listen, now you’re hurt.
Peter doesn’t want to berate you when you’re hurt but he just can’t understand why you didn’t listen to him, and it wasn’t about something petty, it was about your safety and you didn’t listen and you got hurt and he hates when you get hurt.
He lets out a sigh, you know what that means.
“Baby… why would you do that?”
You try to shrug, peter places his hand on your wrap to stop you.
“You’re always the hero, I wanted to try it out.”
“There’s a reason I usually am, trouble. I can handle getting hurt in a different way, you have glass bones and paper skin.” Peter gives you a small grin, he doesn’t mean harm by his words and you understand what he means.
“I know but sometimes it feels like you have to make up things for me to do so I feel useful. Like, sometimes I just watch you when we’re on a mission and I feel like I’m the kid kicking rocks in the corner.”
Peter makes an error sound, “wrong. I can’t shoot lasers or fire, but you can. I need you to open like, every steel door we come across. And you can crack codes and locks quicker than me, I don’t make up tasks for you to do. It might feel useless but I promise it makes me focus on the dangerous stuff better, that way I can protect you while you do the real important stuff.”
The medicine took effect, your body felt like jelly and peter had a real kissable mouth.
“You’re handsome, you know that?”
A small frown pulls at peter’s mouth, the back of his hand rests on your forehead, “concussion hitting?”
You shake your head and sigh happily, you grab his hand and kiss the back of it, “morphine.”
“I don’t want you getting hurt, next time may be worse.”
“I liked it better when you said you were protecting me.”
He looks offended, “I do.”
“And that’s adorable. Wanna make out?”
You pull yourself up on your good elbow, peter bites back a laugh.
“Promise me you’ll listen to me when I say you’ll get hurt and you’ll get a kiss.”
A wide grin spreads, “deal.”
My Heart's a Stereo
Tumblr media
Crowley x GN!Reader
Summary: Crowley fears a lot of things, but losing you is at the top of hios list.
Soundtrack: Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes
Requests: Open!
Warnings: Canon-Typical Heart Proble--wait...
Life had, rather ironically, been a tad bit hectic since the doctors discovered something wrong with your heart. You understood, of course. You were young and otherwise healthy. There was really no reason for there to be a problem, so they were in a rush to find the proper diagnosis and fix you -- well, assuming it could be fixed, anyway.
And your poor boyfriend -- you could tell the situation pained him more than it did you, scared him more than it did you. Not that you weren't pained or scared, because of course you were. He just seemed... more open about it, like he couldn't be bothered to repress it.
Or maybe he wanted to show you that it was okay to be those things.
Even with that thought in mind, you didn't really let it show just how rattled you were over the whole thing. Crowley worried enough for the both of you, he didn't need yours compounding his.
Two months of extensive testing and few conclusive results didn't break you down. A third month of even more tests and several bad results delivered with devastating simplicity in a too-bright office painted in Caribbean sea green and decorated with gold and teal corporate art blotches didn't break you down.
No, what finally broke you down was the first night Crowley shook you awake.
It was a random night sometime in the fourth month -- the doctors were still running batteries of tests, but they'd generally accepted a diagnosis and had moved on to treatment.
Crowley insisted on staying by your side, at all times. In the doctors' offices, at home, at the grocery store, in Aziraphale's bookshop and, most adamantly, in bed.
He'd forbidden doing anything fun in that bed, so you weren't sure why he wanted so badly to be there.
At least, until you were woken one night to him desperately shaking you awake.
You blinked blearily up at him, eyes struggling to focus through the sleep still clawing at your consciousness and the aggressive shaking that was slowly working to chase away the sleep.
"C--Crowley," you whimpered, trying to shrug him off. "What the hell--stop!"
He stopped instantly, eyes widening as if he'd only just realized you were awake.
"I'm sorry," he muttered, stroking your face and chest lovingly -- no... wonderingly. "I'm so sorry. I just --" He made a sound at the back of his throat, but it wasn't like the one he usually made. This one sounded like a choked sob. "I just needed to make sure."
"Make sure? What?"
"That you were... I-I just... the thing is..."
"Crowley, please just tell me."
He hesitated, and you could see the gears behind his eyes turning, contemplating the best course of action. Whether telling you was a good idea or not. At first, you thought maybe he wasn't going to say anything. But then, quietly...
"Your heart stopped."
Oh.
"I had my ear over your heart, so I could listen -- hearing it, it comforts me. Knowing it's still going. I just... that's all I do, all night. Listen to your heart... but it -- it stopped. It stopped and --"
You weren't sure when the first tear fell, but you felt the dam break and you felt the sobs that shook your whole body.
Instantly, Crowley had you in his arms, wrapped up tight in a warm embrace that relaxed you all the way through.
"If you tell me it's okay to be scared," you managed through your sobs, "I swear to God."
He laughed, and it sounded wet, and you realized that he was crying too. "Sick of hearing me say that?"
"I'm sick of everyone saying it."
"Yeah, fair enough." He laughed again, and through the tears, you managed to join him.
The two of you stayed locked in that embrace for what felt like hours and, hell, maybe it was. Eventually, though, you mutually disengaged. While you wiped the tears from your face, Crowley moved to a stand.
"Where are you going?" you asked.
He leaned down and planted a gentle kiss in the center of your forehead. "I am going to go get you a hot chocolate."
You couldn't help the little moan that broke out from the back of your throat. "Okay, that does sound good... I guess you can go."
"Thank you, darling," he said teasingly.
You weren't left alone very long -- after that scare, you were sure Crowley would want to start following you even into the places he'd dared not go before, like the toilet and shower.
And though the moment of being alone was nice, you couldn't help but feel relief when you saw him walk in the door, mug of hot cocoa in hand.
He passed it off to you, then sat next to you on the bed and leaned over to kiss your temple. "I know you're tired of hearing it, but it really is okay to be scared. It's okay to feel anything -- but it... it's not okay to bury it all and pretend you don't feel anything. Those emotions are gonna be there, whether you want them to be or not."
You sighed into your hot cocoa. "I know," you whimpered. "I guess I just... I thought maybe if I pretended nothing was different, it'd go away, and people would stop treating me so delicately like they do now. I just want people to stop acting like I'm made of porcelain suddenly."
He looked so sad -- and you could see in his eyes that he was only just realizing he'd been part of the problem. "I'm sorry," he murmured into your shoulder as he leaned in to kiss it. "I'm so sorry. I should've known. I shouldn't have let my feelings affect how I treated you."
"It's okay," you said with a light shrug. "It's okay for you to feel things too. You're my partner -- this affects you too."
He kissed your shoulder again, then pulled you into an awkward side embrace. You didn't mind, though -- you wanted nothing more than to be close to him.
He bent weirdly so that he could rest his cheek over your chest, ear pressed to the spot just over your heart. You let your head fall -- gently -- over his throat, keeping him locked in that contorted position. He didn't seem to mind, more than content to listen to the beating of your heart until long after you'd finished your hot cocoa, and fallen asleep nestled into his neck.
Why is it that every time you come to New York, something bad happens. The last time you had gotten your shitty diagnosis. This time your current boyfriend and yourself had decided to go on a holiday to Hawaii for a week and of course, an hour after landing back in New York he decided to break your heart.
Something about not being ready for a relationship. Apparently. And here you were ready to tell him I love you on your holiday but held back because he was a little distant at night. That’s why you’re now standing in a Walmart; wearing a pair of sunglasses trying to find food.
Sadly you can’t even go home. In three days you have to have another surgery. A different one to the last time you were in New York. Now you’re stuck in the city, alone and crying your eyes out. Dealing with health issues and a break up. What a great combo. And to make things worse, you can’t even drink away your emotions!
Aisle by aisle, you grab chocolate, some cupcakes, cheese and crackers, a bit of everything. Oh and a bottle of coke, can’t forget it. That’s when you heard a familiar voice calling your name. You turned to where the voice came from.
“Mat?”
One of the few people you knew in the city. Mat wasn’t a stranger to you. Quite the opposite actually. The pair of you grew up together then reconnected later on once he had been drafted. After a couple hook ups since the reunion, you two were close when you did meet up.
“Are you okay?” Mat questions, spying your reddened cheeks just under your glasses.
“I uh… Yeah,” You tried to brush it off. Discreetly wiping the stray tears that dripped down your cheeks. “Just some personal stuff.”
The hockey player wasn’t buying it. He had known you long enough to see through your lies. Even if they were really bad like the one you just told. “Okay, what’s up? I know that’s a lie. You were literally just in Hawaii.”
“Stalking my insta?” You joke weakly.
“Gotta see what my favourite girl is up to.”
That made your heart hurt more. Here Mat was calling you that where as your ex could barely call you his girlfriend in front of his friends. God, you thought your relationship was great. Fuck. How could you be so blind.
“Yeah we got back this morning and then he broke up with me an hour after we landed.”
Mat immediately brought you in for a hug. “Shit. He’s an asshole for that.”
“Doesn’t help I have surgery friday,” You add, sniffling.
“Another one?” Mat sighs. “He’s a coward for breaking up with you before that. It’s a dick move.”
You shrug off the comment. “I’d rather him do it now then drag it out. Now I can just focus on myself. Gonna get snacks and have a night in my hotel. Maybe get ice cream from the place next door.”
“Can I join?” Mat asked.
“Are you sure?”
Matt agreed and the two of you finished grabbing snacks for the night and finished Mat’s shopping. He brought groceries for his apartment so the two created a plan. First, drop off Mat’s groceries to his apartment. Then head to your hotel to have a chill night.
You two arrived back at your hotel, which was quite a fancy one since you and your partner had planned to stay there together. First, before retreating to your bedroom, you stopped by the ice cream place and got way too much. Enough that Mat’s nutritionist would cry at the thought of the hockey player consuming all that sugar.
“This is nice.” The two of you walked into the nice hotel room. A modern style hotel room on the 9th floor. A king sized bed in the middle with the bathroom off to the left as you walked in. There was even a window with a blind in the shower. “Have you stayed here before?”
“Yeah, my ex worked nearby so I’d stay when I’d come to visit him,” You respond.
Mat grabbed the bag of snacks and put that on the counter, wrapped you in a hug and dragged you onto the bed. The smell of his cologne filled your senses. Despite your old hook up ways with Mat, the familiar scent still gave you butterflies.
“I wanna have a shower and get into my pyjamas,” You sighed, pulling away from Mat. You grabbed some clothes and went to go to the bathroom when a sulking sound came from the boy laying on your bed. When you looked at him, he was pulling the puppy's eyes. “What? Do you wanna join?”
“Please?” You giggled and agreed, leaving him to join you when he wished. “Thank youuuu!”
The bathroom was really modern. A large mirror in front of the sink and a huge shower with a rainfall head. Your favourite type of shower. After turning on the water to your preferred temperature, you stripped and got into the shower. The water felt calming as you stood under the stream.
“Heya,” Mat mutters as he slips into the shower.
You leaned into the hockey player as he wrapped his arms around you. This wasn’t the first time you had showered with him. But let’s just say usually, a simple shower wasn’t just that.
“Are you okay?” Mat asks as you’re unusually quiet around him. That question just makes you break. A flood of emotions coming through. Mat was quick to pull you closer, tight against his naked body as you started to sob. “He’s an idiot.”
“What’s wrong with me?” You cried.
“Nothing. I promise you it’s him. He’s the worst person for doing this to you. He’s the problem.”
Once you had calmed down and the two of you had finished washing, you changed into your pyjamas and cuddled up on bed with a ton of snacks surrounding the pair of you. Mat had signed into his Disney. You allowed him to pick what the two of you would watch for the night. When you saw the intro it solidified the hidden feeling for him. It was your favourite show.
“Thanks for this,” You mutter to Mat.
The brunette kissed the top of your head. “Always.”
ANyway love you lots!!!
warning: there’s a lot of parentheses (it’s a choice) and a lot of swearing (I do what I want)
reader’s dialogue/feelings are based off my own experiences so if u read this and are like ??? don’t worry about it. i’m just projecting. the chronic illness is unspecified.
LOVE U BABE
Tumblr media
you’ll probably date her
It’s hard enough growing up in a council estate in a shit part of Manchester (although you’d staunchly defend there’s no such thing as a shit part of Manchester) but it’s harder with fucking chronic illness. It manifests is clumsiness (joint pain), fidgeting (widespread pain), and bruising (skin problems).
Not to mention the fucking tiredness.
School is complete shit all the time, and life is complete shit all the time too.
Okay fine, not all the time, but a lot of the time.
There are bright spots in between flare ups, bright spots that consist of learning how to bake with Simon (Jamie’s stepdad) and petting Roy (Jamie’s cat) and watching horribly cheesy movies with Georgie (Jamie’s mum).
Oh, and Jamie.
You’ve known Jamie since birth, probably, when your mum brought you home and Jamie sat down on the saggy couch, aged two, and asked, “When does it open its eyes?”
He took it upon himself to look after you, magnanimous in a way he would not have been if you were actually related to him (thank god). When he starts to get tired of you, he can go back home to his own room and his own mum and hug her tight without having to share her with anyone else.
When you’re three and he’s five, you get a diagnosis. Jamie says, “That’s shit,” when your mum tells him you can’t play, and you’re told that you echo him with your first swear.
“That’s shit,” comes your tiny voice from the sofa, face down and covered in bags of frozen peas.
Your mum is too surprised by the first words you’ve said all day, that she a) doesn’t scold you and b) doesn’t catch Jamie as he slips by her into the house. He sits on the floor and starts to tell you about primary school and helps your mum when it’s time to put the peas back in the slightly-broken freezer.
It goes like that for years.
When you’re feeling well, you kick a football around with Jamie. When you’re feeling poorly, he climbs the steps to your room and tells you things, anything at all to distract you from the pain ripping through your body.
It’s nice. It makes you feel, like, someone cares, almost? Or someone understands? Or maybe the world isn’t carrying on without you, that a piece of it does stop when you do, and maybe you aren’t entirely alone.
You first realize you like Jamie (like-like) when you’re twelve and it feels like ice-cold water has been poured on your head, but not exactly in an unwelcoming way.
A shock, sure, but a soothing one.
You don’t tell him, but you think he probably knows. He’s not an idiot, he’s had girls swooning all over him since he was eight.
(And your mum knows, and she and Georgie talk, and Georgie tells Jamie to be extra nice to you and maybe a little bit careful not to be mean about it.)
He carefully slips on your small bed when you’re fifteen and he’s sixteen (almost seventeen, but it’s the one time of the year when you’re only a year apart) and balances on his side so he can look at you.
“You’ll be alright?” he asks, and you don’t have to ask what he’s talking about.
He’s going to play for Manchester (City, not United, and not the Premier League Team), and it’s all you’ve been able to think about.
You don’t say anything, so he gingerly pats your head. It messes up your hair, but it also feels like tiny electric sparks are shooting through your body (not the pain kind).
He lays there for a long time, whispering about secondary school and football and making enough money to buy houses for everyone he’s ever loved, you included.
(He promises he’ll call all the time.)
He does call, until he doesn’t.
Some days are good, some days are bad, and now the bad days feel like they’re your fault.
“You’re overdoing it,” your boss says, “You need to slow down or you’ll be out sick tomorrow.”
You bite back the words I’m doing my fucking best, and just nod. Fuck him, and fuck this. You can work just the same as everyone else, pain be damned. There are fucking bills to pay and yeah, this shit hurts, but what the fuck are you supposed to do. Benefits aren’t enough at the moment, and it’s been a solid two years since you’ve given up on waiting for a knight in shining armor (even if that knight is in the Premier League now, just like he always swore he’d be).
Your boss is fucking right the fucker, but you push through on Friday (it’s fucking shit) and crash on Saturday (it’s even more fucking shit).
Your mum places bags of frozen fruit on your joints, rearranging the pillows on the floor. You’ve long since outgrown the couch, instead needing more space. Your dad moved the coffee table, saying, “It’s on its last legs anyway,” and the space you called a living room now became a treatment room of sorts.
Georgie and Simon come over all the time for family dinner (potluck-style) and they are comfortable enough step over you or sit down on the floor to talk.
It sounds worse than it is, but when they’re in the flat it feels better, all warm and glowy, like things are right.
Nights are the worst, with the moving around trying to get comfortable, so you’re awake bright and early on Sunday morning. Early enough to sit on a bench in front of the estates, bundled up in your duvet and puffing cold air out into the sky.
You hear footsteps splashing down the tunnel, someone on their way home after a long night. Or maybe it’s one of the many kids who like to sneak out to play footie in hopes that they’ll be the next Jamie Tartt.
He’s not that great, you want to tell them, except you don’t even believe it yourself. He is that great, he’ll always be that great, and you should have fucking known that he was going to fuck off and fuck a gorgeous, carefree model and not you.
(Not that you want to fuck him. Well, you do, but you also want to, like, hold his hand.)
It was always going to end up this way, you should have known not to actually have real feelings for him, you should have left it at a childhood crush and not let yourself believe something could actually happen.
The footsteps pass you by, and it’s a man in a baseball hat and an awful silk-print tracksuit carrying a Gucci travel bag.
He’s out of place here, and you wonder if he’s lost. But no, he strides up to Georgie and Simon’s door like he owns the place, pulls out a key, and walks right in. It’s only after the door swings shut behind him that you realize it’s Jamie.
“Oh shit,” you whisper, clouds accompanying the words.
(You won’t admit it, but the surprise has rebooted your system a little bit, aching limbs forgotten for a moment.)
“This is shit,” you say as you lean on your fucking cane of all things. “It’s one thing if it’s Simon and Georgie, it’s another fucking thing if it’s Jamie fucking Tartt.”
“That’s a lot of fucking fucks,” your father says sagely, ignoring the glare you send his way and saying ow as your mum swats the back of his head.
“It’s only two fucks and one shit,” you tell him. “And I’m not going.”
“Then I’ll tell them to come over here,” your mum says placidly.
Absolutely not. Also-fucking-lutely not.
“I am going to my room,” you say with dignity, turning to go back up the stairs.
Your dad waves, the prick. “Have fun,” he says helpfully. You flip him off without looking, and you know for a fact he’s doing it back. You know he’ll be up in an hour with a plate of dinner and sneak you early desert.
There is no fucking way you’re seeing Jamie after two years like this.
The cane is a relatively new development and sure, it’s helpful with walking sometimes, but a cane? The fuck were the doctors thinking when they suggested this? You’re barely twenty, not a damn convalescent.
By the time you make it to your room, the doorbell’s ringing and voices are filling the flat. You reach for your bottle of pills and carefully tap the right amount into your hand (even though you know there is no drug on earth to calm down your traitor heart).
You lay down flat on your back with no immediate plans to move. You find your playlist and slip an earbud in, letting the music take you somewhere else. Somewhere where you don’t hurt for no reason, where you can focus like you’re supposed to, where you aren’t so damn tired all the time.
There’s a tap on your door.
“Come in,” you call to your dad, except the door opens and it’s Jamie, no longer in his stupid outfit from earlier, but in a nice jumper that you think might be Simon’s.
He smiles like he didn’t abandon you and sits down on the floor. You hand him the other earbud (it’s better than talking) and let Stevie Nicks croon in your ear.
“How’ve you been?” he asks (the prick) and you have half a mind to ignore him.
“It’s been two years,” you remind him. “Try again.”
Jamie looks stricken. “Right, yeah, I know, it’s just- I’ve been busy.”
“Yup,” you reply. “Me too.”
(The cane is leaning on the wall by the door, and you need Jamie to not notice it.)
Jamie points to the cane. “That’s new.”
“Yep,” you say because it’s not the same as yup. It has a different vowel. It’s a different word, you’re having a civil conversation, your brain is making sentences just fine.
“I’m sorry,” he says. He sounds like he means it, which is worse. “I went through some shit, you know? It don’t excuse it, but… got a new gaffer, Keeley dumped me, then I got sent back to City right when I were getting better. It’s been shit. I’ve been shit,” he corrects.
Your arm’s falling asleep so you shift, trying to stifle a groan.
Jamie’s up in a moment, all concern. “You alright?”
“Clearly,” you gasp out as savagely as possible. “Fuck off, alright? I don’t need your pity, not now, so go find some other charity case.”
Fucking flare-ups. Fucking Jamie. Fucking chronic illness and its fucking lack of a cure.
Jamie looks like he’s been slapped. To be fair, you would if you could get in the right position.
“You’re not charity,” he says, and unfortunately (and again) he sounds like he fucking means it.
“Okay,” you say. “That’s fucking mint. Thanks for staying such a good friend all these years, it’s been real fucking fun. I’ve got to lie here in discomfort, so I imagine you’ll be leaving now. Goodbye.”
Jamie stares at you a moment, then leaves.
It’s a good day. It’s a good day and it’s raining and you don’t even care because it’s a good day. Nothing can ruin it (this isn’t a premonition) not even stupid Jamie showing up out of nowhere.
(It’s a little bit of a premonition.)
“I’m sorry,” is the first thing he says when he turns up in his mum’s kitchen, an hour before he’s supposed to be home. You’re supposed to be long gone by now, but you and Simon have cheese pinwheels in the oven that aren’t done for another twenty minutes, so now you’re stuck here until then.
“Fucking mint,” you say, just like the night before. Simon freezes but Georgie just rolls her eyes.
“We’ll be in the other room, loves,” she says. “Jamie, don’t be a fucking idiot.”
You tell him, “I’m having a good day, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t fucking ruin it.”
“You’re not a charity case,” he says, and you think maybe he is broken, but like a record is broken, not like a teacup.
Jamie says, “I weren’t lying about going through shit,” and you snap (like a rubber band, not a bone).
“Big fucking deal, Jamie, you’ve been going through shit since you were six years old. I’ve been going through shit too, in case you didn’t fucking notice. It’s not an excuse to be a shitty person or a shitty friend,” you burst out.
“I didn’t say it as an excuse, it’s just a fucking reason,” Jamie shouts back. “Jesus Christ, you’re not the only person with fucking problems! You’re allowed to be mad shitty sometimes, I didn’t ever complain, so why’s it fucking different for me?”
You open your mouth to tell him why it’s fucking different, except you don’t actually have a reason. How many times did you sit with him as he iced his knee, or his face, or his arm while you iced your back, or your chest, or your legs?
Pain is pain, your fucking government-issued therapist had said. And shit if she isn’t right.
“You abandoned me,” you reply, voice small. “You left me for Keeley and I wouldn’t have minded, I really wouldn’t have. I just wanted to talk to you.”
Jamie rubs his face with a sigh. “Didn’t know how to talk to you, after. I knew you liked me since we were kids and I liked you too, so it felt fucking… weird. Dunno. But, I was with her because it was what I was supposed to do and she was mad fit and fucking funny. I’ve had a crush on her for fucking… ages.”
“Right,” you say, feeling one millimeter tall, “I get that.”
Jamie shakes his head and says, “Nah, you don’t.” (The fuck does he mean? He can’t read your mind).
“You don’t get it,” he continues. “Had a crush on her, didn’t I? Not the same as you. You were proper in love with me, and I…” he trails off.
“He was proper in love with you too,” comes Georgie’s voice.
Jamie turns bright red and you do too, and it’s like you’re kids again and he’s in your bed and you’re trying not to think about how close his lips are to yours.
“That’s… well, that’s…” You try and fail to come up with the right words.
“Yeah,” Jamie says, still blushing. “Yeah, suppose I was. Couldn’t do anything about it, then. Could do something about it now. If you’ve forgiven me.” He says it casually, like he won’t mind if you tell him to go away out of his own mum’s house and never return, when in reality he’ll burn up and die if you do.
“I will. I do,” you say. “I’m sorry too, I am. I can be a prick sometimes.”
Jamie shrugs, but he’s smiling a little. “I’m a prick all the time, love. Fucking… fucked childhood or some shit.”
“Some shit,” you echo. “So, proper in love with me, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Jamie says. “Proper. Wrote my first name with your last on every bit of paper I could get me hands on, didn’t I?”
“Fuck off,” you say with a grin.
“It’s true,” Simon shouts from the sofa. “Found some bits when I was cleaning one day.”
Wait. Simon didn’t move in until Jamie was a teenager. That means…
“Oh my god, were you fifteen when you were writing that? You weren’t even a kid anymore! What the fuck Jamie, you had it bad!” you tease.
“Fuck off, it was just a stupid joke,” he says defensively.
“Uh huh, sounds like,” you say as you go to wrap your arms around him. “You liked me.”
“Fuck’s sake,” he grumbles, leaning down to kiss your head. He’s never going to fucking live this down.
Notes from the Taskmaster 16x10 recording
The last two episode recordings I went to, I meant to make comprehensive notes when I got home afterwards that I would be able to look back at and post when the episode aired. I did not, in fact, end up doing that. So this time I was determined to have lots of notes, and made them on the go in the breaks in recording. However. They were made in a rush and I never went back through them to pad them out (you'd really think I would have learned by now). So instead of just having to rely on my memory, I ended up with an almost coded list of words and phrases that it's taken me pretty much 2 weeks to sit down and decipher lol. So with that said:
the pre-episode Greg-Alex entertainment was Greg getting Alex to sing a song about a recent news story to the tune of a song suggested by the audience - in this case it was Trump's lawsuit (the one in May 2023 since there are...a few) to the tune of Wuthering Heights
Alex really went for the whole live thing, and was constantly referring to it throughout the episode
when the contestants came onstage, I obviously first saw Sam in his bright colours and blond hair
we were right on the back balcony and my first impression from that distance was that he kinda looked like Jamie Laing lol
Greg made a passing comment about how he's been dressing in grey but I was completely taken by surprise when the vt rolled and he looked completely different!
I had assumed he'd actually buzzed his hair and didn't realise it was a wig until the ep aired
Sue made comments throughout the episode about how Sam looked like Dahmer
Lucy's prize task story, unsurprisingly, went on for ages and included a whole story about the holiday they went on that I tragically cannot remember
I was so glad they didn't cut 'untaffled' because I looked through my notes before again before watching the episode and couldn't for the life of me remember what she'd said
Greg's said that his immediate response to naked Alex in the prize task was that he was 'smooth like an eel'
After Julian's prize task there was a discussion about how people wanted to be buried, and at one point (I wish I could remember the conversation leading up to this) either Greg or Alex said they would be buried 'together forever in the Victoria monument'
There was a whole long debate about whether Sam intended to use nature as part of his doughnut task, and whether the bird toppling Ms Doughnut to her death should be counted
Greg told Sam to 'convince me to give you 3 points'
Sam went on talking about how amazing nature is and how we're all connected and at one point said 'consider the statistics.....3000' (I'm 99% sure this is what he said and I didn't just forget the rest of the quote)
Julian's exercise name was absolutely not a one-off, to the point they started running a 'cunt count' for the episode
Sue talked about how she had recently had an ADHD diagnosis, and that she kept viewing tasks holistically rather than paying attention to the details. This was specifically in relation to the exercise where she just did the same thing 4 times
I'm not sure if we saw the full extended version of Hotel Taskmaster, but we definitely saw a cut that included more than the aired version (though tbh I think they do that for most tasks and I just noticed this one bc we got the extended version)
We got an 'I put it to you' from Greg that Alex-as-Qrs looked genuinely cool
Lucy described Alex as having 'tight metallic buns' which Greg later referred to as his 'robot arse'
I cannot stress how much of a breakdown Susan had in the studio about the forks and marbles - you get a glimpse in the episode but that was nothing!
Susan also took AGES to do her throw in the live task - she kept on being about to throw before being interrupted, or saying her arms were too short, or that she needed a wee, or having a fit of giggles, and the longer it went the worse it got lol
Greg and Alex also had a go at it, and Sue wanted another go without the pressure. Greg and Sue got the ball in but Alex didn't
Don't ask me to remember the context, but at one point during the record, Greg told a story about someone he knew (whose name he said he would tell the others backstage) who would have sex in a cow mask and would demand 'LOOK AT ME!!!'. Anyway that was referred back to a few times in the ep
When Sam was given the trophy he just stood near-motionless with it for what felt like ages before we got to the hugs and everything
And now we enter the magical world of ~what on earth was this note referring to~ where I just hope someone else who was there (@politicalprocrastinator how's your memory?) sees this and can fill me in on what I've forgotten:
At some point around the prize / first task I wrote 'correct dog guess'. Whose dog? What was being guessed? Absolutely no idea
At some point there was a joke about the 'former Prime Minister', I think the idea being that by the time the episode aired we'd inevitably have a new PM? but I honestly can't remember
Someone called someone else submissive in a way notable enough for me to have written 'submissive' as a one-word bullet point, but not notable enough for me to actually remember
And now three bullet points which I will present in their original form:
Birthday
Bum hole in back
Get in bath
