Warnings: friends to lover kinda thing, fluff & angst (I actually cried while writing this)

Summary: You and Lando are close but neither of you tried being more than friends. What happens when you both finally realize that love is right infront of you?

~ This is actually a story related to my own life right know. I have a driver friend that I’m crushing on and some events are in this story. Haha

You never wanted Lando to race for points that badly in your life. Was he really feeling the same you thought? His quality hasn’t been so good yesterday. He finished P15 so he had to fight to come to P4. You wanted him to finish that high and he wanted to take you out properly. You listened to everything the commentator said. Lando was now at P8. Gasly was infront of him. “Will Lando get pass Gasly? And with DRS Lando Norris passes Piere Gasly. What a great race for the McLaren driver“ the one commentator said enthusiastic. „Yay Lando, he is surprisingly very determined to get some points and drive into the top 5. I wonder where this comes from?“ the other commentator responded. Just 6 more laps…will Lando manage to get to P4? But to your surprise Landos car got even faster and he even got passed George and Lewis. “Great Lando you doing amazing“ was what you heard from Landos radio. “Thanks guys the car is great and my motivation is even higher today. Lets keep pushing for P4“ was Landos respond. You smiled when you heard his voice. Moments later Lando was just one position away from P4. You prayed for a miracle that he will get passed Stroll. And then something strange happened. Aston Martin wanted Stroll to pit on the last two laps. That made Landos position clear. He was P4. “Yes baby I knew you could do it“ you screamed as you threw your fist in the air. Lando ended with that position. He could wait to call you and take the next plane to you. He couldn’t stop from smiling, even in his interview he was asked why he was smiling so much. “Oh you know the race was just very good and I just had a great motivator“ he teased. You knew that his fans were going to get crazy about his comment. You quickly took your phone and started to take some photos for him. You promised him to send him these if he finishes P4. You took a few pics till you were happy with on of them. You looked very cute in one of his perch hoodies. You didn’t even think twice and send him the pic with a little caption: “Hopping to hear from you after your duties. Call me x Y/n. PS: You did amazing <3“

“I think your friend just texted you“ Landos media manager told him and gave him his phone. Without thinking Lando opened your chat. He saw your picture. You were in fact wearing his hoodie but he could also see that you weren’t wearing any sweatpants. Your legs were just being covered by his oversized hoodie. When he read your caption he smiled. “You little teaser“ he said to himself. After the dinner he had with Carlos he went straight to his hotel room. He unlooked his phone and went straight to the Facetime icon. He couldn’t just hear your voice, he had to see you. “Lando?“ a black screen and a sleepy voice accepted his call. “Fuck did I woke you up?“ he didn’t thought about your time change. “You kinda did but its ok now I’m awake anyway“ you said with a raspy voice. He loved your sleepy figure and voice. You turned your light in your bedroom on and looked at your phone. Lando looked tried. “You look like shit“ you said and laughed. “Well that’s nice. Thanks I thought you wanted to congratulate me but that’s also fine I guess“ he laughed. You stoped laughing and looked at you. Even tho he wasn’t with you this moment it still felt like he was sitting next to you. “So in that case…congratulation to P4 mister Norris“ your shyly voice made Lando grin. “Thanks I would love to talk longer to you but you should sleep and I should too.“ Your smile faded. “I guess you’re right. Hear from you soon?“ you asked sadly not wanting to end this call just now. You guys wished each other a good night and ended the call.

Lando was at the airport waiting with Carlos and Charles for their private yet. “Hey mate why are you so nervous?“ Charles asked. “Well I kinda have a date with Y/N when I get back to Monaco“ both Ferrari driver looked surprised at him. “Wait Y/N Y/N? Your best friend Y/N?“ Carlos asked “Pierres ex friends with benefit Y/N?“ Charles asked. Landos and Carlos eyes widened. “What?“ Lando asked. “Lando calm down I was just probably just a joke right…right Charles?“ Carlos said and prayed that Charles would get the hint. In that moment Pierre walked by. “You slept with my Y/N?“ Landos angry voice cracked. “Ok guys I thought we agreed not to tell him“ Pierre looked to the Ferrari driver. “Sorry mate it slipped out“ both said. Lando looked back. “Wait you both knew and didn’t told me? You knew how much I liked her and that for many years“ tears forming in his eyes. You meant the world for him. He didn’t really liked Pierre but he also didn’t dislike him. But he hated to fact that you were intimate with another driver and haven’t told him. It felt like every moment he thought you guys were crushing on each other was fake. “If it calms you down it was just for 3 months and she ended it“ Pierre said. Lando rushed to the bathroom he had to hear it from you. He wanted to call you but that would be childish. He knew what his first thing in Monaco was going to be. And boy he hoped that it was a bad joke.

HEY WHAT'S UP PEOPLE!! So sorry for being kinda inactive within the Cleon/Resident Evil fandom. BUT GUESS WHAT?!

THEY ALL ARE IN 1 MOVIE! And it's like one big reunion😭.

This is not a drill, guys.

I REPEAT. THIS. IS. NOT. A . DRILL.

Fans have been asking for Ada/Carlos/Billy/Sheva/Barry or basically every other RE characters to be in a movie TOGETHER. But this is just the beginning, folks. Let Capcom takes some baby steps cause I can see their effort in trying to hear us. On the other hand, we should be grateful for what we have right now (AKA THIS) rather than nothing at all.

I never once thought that Capcom would do this and making our wish comes true! We've been waiting for a long time. Even YEARS for this😭.

This, folks, in my humble opinion, is what a true fanservice is🥲👍🏻. Good move and marketing from Capcom! They know how to make such a powerful scene and poster to promote this movie!

Don't mind me attaching this again (cause I'm freaking excited😭).

This folks, this poster right here will always be iconic and historical for Resident Evil fans (both new and old generation).

PRIDE MONTH 23 | shuriri, just having some fun

Yeah, you knew this isn’t over. Shuri and Riri are next! I’ve decided to draw Riri’s MCU appearance this time around (and also took that as an excuse to draw conrows for the first time yay) plus her full-on red casual look was iconic. POTO adaptations analysis — Part 2 — The Phantom of the Opera (1987), by Al Guest and Jean Mathieson, starring Aiden Grennel and Collete Proctor

Oh this goofy ass animation... here we go

Positive points:

– it's weirdly Leroux accurate

– the cellars are very well designed to be fair

– it has some cool tension scenes (for kids sure but still)

– Erik's voice acting is pretty fine

– Raoul is treated as the selfish asshole he is supposed to be 🙏🏼

– we have The Persian! Yay!

– the ending includes both the Grasshoper and the Scorpion and the heartbreaking redemption

– we have iconic Leroux Erik lines!

– Christine pities and defends Erik during most of the time 💞

– Erik's deformity is surprisingly well made, although his eyes are so weird

Negative points:

– the animation is so crappy and takes away the imersion and seriousness most of the time

– the designs are so horribleb holy shit, Christine is the most generic whatever and Raoul looks like Elvis Presley, Erik's clothes are also meh

– Daroga has the most racist and inacurate representation 🤦🏽‍♀️

– ERIK KILLS A CAT??!! Erik hates people, sure (yet he doesn't kill them just because he doesn't like them), but he is a complete Team Animal person. Look how well he treated Cesar, why he killed a cat here?! It makes no sense, Erik would never kill innocent animals

– holy shit the Masquerade scene, wtf are Christine and Raoul wearing?? and Red Death also (great for memes but as an adaptation is so WHAT??)

– PotO shouldn't be made for kids, all the nuances and sexual themes of the story are completely forgotten and the characters lose their depth

– i missed Carlotta's arc at lot

– idk if i consider this a bad point, but anyway some random dude dies in the middle of the story and The Persian accuses Erik of killing him, Erik didn't even have the time to defend himself

– Erik's past is not explained, not even briefly

favorite thing about them: her sheer commitment to her cause. she went through the horror of impregnating herself with the sperm of what has to be the person she despises most in the universe and then carried that baby under her heart for nine months just for the long shot of being able to kill john. she stuck around for at least nineteen years as a revenant and stayed (more or less) sane just on the sheer force of her conviction. landmine people for real.

random headcanon: the first thing that came to mind when i saw this is that wake put cigarettes out on pyrrha. this is like canon to me. more randomly i also imagine that she had a bad relationship with her mom but was close to her grandparents before they either died during the invasion of her home planet by the empire or got separated during resettlement.

unpopular opinion: she genuinely did nothing wrong. i would have killed that baby to open the tomb.

The Warmth of the Sun

It’s not as happy and warm as it used to be anymore - Episode 6

It’s in his kiss

Nine is about an inch or so taller than Mangkorn, yet Nine dominates Yai when they are on screen together compared to Mangkorn.

This is done through camera angles and positions. Mangkorn and Yai have their most intimate moments sitting down or with camera magic helping create balance, but Yai and Nine tend to stand and their shots are full on. This is done to see the difference in balance between the two pairs.

During the kiss, Nine looms over Yai, while the wall in the background of Mangkorn and Yai’s kiss helps create balance.

Also, when kissing Nine, Yai stays solid on the ground, while he gets on his toes when kissing Mangkorn. Nine also doesn’t tilt while Mangkorn does.

Finally, Nine keeps distance between them requiring Yai to stretch. Mangkorn always breaks Yai’s barrier, which allows Yai to lean into Mangkorn instead of stretching. *Note Nine wears shoes that Yai usually wears, but Yai's favorite shoes aren't expensive.

Mangkorn gives as much as he gets to create balance while Nine wants to maintain the power *put a pin it in*

Timeline

Mangkorn and Yai have been in this situation-ship for a few months because they began when the semester ended, and a new semester has begun.

We learn that in episode 4, Mangkorn confessed to liking guys AND told his mother about Yai.

Therefore, when Mangkorn sees Yai in the café and kisses Yai in the park, he already sees Yai as his someone special.

When Mangkorn makes Yai food and tells Yai that his mother would be happy, it is because he knows she will be since they have already talked, and when she surprises Mangkorn and Yai at the house in episode 4, she already knows who Yai is.

We see the conversation Mangkorn has with his mother when they left Yai upstairs in episode 4. She tells him going to New York won’t solve his issue with the arranged marriage and would be unfair to Yai to leave him.

Mangkorn confesses to liking Yai since freshman year, which tracks with the amount of knowledge he has about Yai.

However, they first met when they were children in the same kite-flying scene we saw in episode 4 when Mangkorn was with Hong. *look at the colors they are wearing!*

We know Nine and Yai are childhood friends, and Nine throws this in Mangkorn face in the next episode's preview, but the timeline revelations in this episode show that Mangkorn has had a crush on Yai much longer.

Moon & Sun

Yai makes a comment that their relationship is like the sun, and the closer they get, the more they will get burned.

When they are emotionally vulnerable with each other, we have seen a moon (after the noodle date, before the argument outside the university, etc.), so they feel comfortable at night, but Mangkorn kisses Yai both times during the daylight in public.

The bar they are fixing up together is called the Sunrise and is where they had the first sexual encounter. They have to be in the sun and open for their love to shine, not burn. *put another pin in it*

Colors & Symbols

The moment Nine asks about Park and Phong, we see the blue drink with the pink straw that has just left a sour taste in Yai’s mouth *put a pin in it*

Mangkorn is thinking through his feelings for Yai in this pink-means-in-love room.

The captions state he is thinking of calling his father, but the contact icon shows a tiger, which is Yai’s symbol. Also, Mangkorn put himself in Yai's phone as "boyfriend"

Yai is back to wearing his tiger necklace because he is trying to get back to normal, but Mangkorn doesn’t wear his color at all this episode *put a pin in it* Yet is surrounded by reminders of his relationship with Yai with reds, black and white.

But when they are arguing in the room and calling each other Mr. Yai and Mr. Akira, every time they are shown in the mirror, which is a reflection of their honest selves, they are balanced on the other person’s side through color – Mangkorn is in Yai’s darkness, and Yai is in Mangkorn’s light, but the angle shows that Mangkorn is higher or more honest. They are very much in love with each other but Yai is trying to hide it.

A little nod to the devil

Red *unleash the pins!*

Yai states that when his mother was alive, his world was happy, but since she has been gone, his world is sad. Like Kabe-Koji and Thor: Love and Thunder, lack of feelings and emotions is shown through he use of black and white. A majority of Yai’s life is black and white, but when his mother was alive, there was color.

Specifically, red.

The mother AND Yai used red chopsticks. The necklace she gave him was also red.

Mangkorn has had this necklace since Yai lost it as a child. The necklace has the yin yang symbol and black and red blocks that represent Mangkorn and Yai.

When Mangkorn gives the necklace back, he is giving himself to Yai. He has been giving Yai the color and love he has been missing throughout the series.

While Nine tries to reinforce this colorless and emotionless world. Nine wears black often and wipes away the red on Yai’s shoe with a black and white cloth.

Mangkorn cares for Yai by making him and treating him to Chinese dishes; he is giving Yai parts of himself. Nine gives him items that are sour and not heartfelt. Even the father’s girlfriend suggests taking Yai to China which is an extension of Mangkorn.

Mangkorn wants to know who Yai is, while Nine wants to reminisce on who Yai was.

Nine continues to laugh about Yai as a child afraid of caterpillars and following him around, but doesn’t acknowledge the man in front of him. Nine left for three years and didn’t speak to Yai, while Mangkorn hasn't left Yai alone even when he is busy.

The good old days no longer define Yai or Mangkorn. They are evolving and being tied to tradition has caused them more grief than comfort. Yai wears his favorite pair of shoes even though he has outgrown them and hurt. Mangkorn thinks leaving to New York will solve an arraigned marriage his father has planned for him since birth. As Ma stated, these days love is no longer defined by gender, so breaking free from the past is what both men need.

Red symbolizes the sun, so even though Yai believes the closer they get, the more they will hurt, without the sun, their love can’t grow. Without the sun, Yai can’t experience its warmth. Without red, Yai will remain colorless. Yai can no longer live this black and white life in cold dark spaces, and his heart knows that as it starts to turn red.

Yai must step into the sun. He must let Mr. Akira love him.

I’ve been using a pretty good website for Chinese fonts and thought it would be nice to do a little guide to using it, since everything is in Chinese!

The website: https://www.fonts.net.cn/fonts-zh-1.html

Why I love it:

It has over 6000 Chinese fonts

There’s an option to toggle your sample text between simple and traditional so you don’t have to type it in twice

The fonts are actually decently categorised and sorted vs other websites that just give you a dump which makes it very difficult to find a certain style you might be looking for

This guide will cover:

How to navigate the website

How to differentiate whether a font is simplified or traditional

How to download a font

How to choose a font by style - this is where the “quick crash course on Chinese scripts” comes in 🤡

✦ NAVIGATING THE WEBSITE

There are three ways to filter the fonts: alphabetically, by style, or by font foundry (i.e. the company that designs/ distributes the fonts)

The most convenient way to find a font based on a “look” you’re looking for is to filter them by style

You can either play around with the style filters by yourself, but I’ve put in the translations for each category at the end of this post

There is also an area you can key in your sample text to see how it will turn out with the font and (very important) check whether the font has that particular character

The simplified-traditional toggle will automatically convert words that have simplified/ traditional forms when clicked so you don’t have to retype anything on your part (yay!) (¬‿¬ )

✦ SIMPLIFIED VS TRADITIONAL

A quick way to identify whether a font is simplified or traditional is by the font name

简 (jiǎn) indicates a simplified font

繁 (fán) indicates a traditional font

However, not all fonts will indicate whether they are simplified or traditional in their name

If so, one way of doing it is to enter a word you know has simplified and traditional versions and see which version pops up

Example 1: I keyed the simplified 龙 (lóng) “dragon” into the sample text bar. The results I got were mostly simplified, but there was one that gave me 龍 - the traditional way of writing 龙

Example 2: I keyed in 红尘醉微醺的岁月 (one of my favourite lines from one of Jay Chou’s songs lmao) in simplified form, and got this

Some traditional fonts automatically convert characters into the traditional form, even though you had entered the sample text in simplified

For instance, in the two traditional fonts in the screenshot above, the simplified characters 红, 尘, and 岁 were automatically converted into the traditional 紅, 塵, and 歲 respectively

However, when I clicked the simplified-traditional toggle to test out the traditional form of the phrase, this happened

When fonts don’t have a particular character, there will be a space/ gap/ crossed out box where it should be

And even though some traditional fonts do actually have that traditional character, it, strangely enough, only shows up when you search your text in simplified ヽ(´ー` )┌

This is why it’s really important to check (in both simplified and traditional) whether a particular font has the characters you want before choosing/ downloading it!

And then there are those very few fonts that have both simplified and traditional, like this one

To download a font, click the right most yellow button with the download icon

And that’s it! It’ll download automatically, don’t need to do or wait for anything else

Watch out for the fonts with the orange triangle at the corner - you’ll need to pay to use these fonts, even if it’s for personal use!

All of the below is just compiled from my own Googling around out of interest since I’ve always been fascinated by fonts, etymology, and the evolution of words over time

The categories in the style filter are quite haphazardly placed, so I’ve grouped them into different sub-categories/ groups based on their commonalities. I’ve tried to put in links to gifsets/ edits where possible, but going back to that disclaimer: I can only recognise the very broad styles (mostly Groups 1 and 3), but not the “sub-categories” (Group 2).

GROUP 1: WIDELY RECOGNISED CALLIGRAPHY/ SCRIPT STYLES

These are the fonts based on the five major styles that are still widely used in Chinese calligraphy today

1. 篆体 (zhuàn tǐ) - seal script

Actual term in calligraphy: 篆书 (zhuàn shū)

Oldest style that is still widely practised today

Used to be common in the latter half of the 1st millennium BC, but the Qin variant eventually became the standard and was standardised during the Qin dynasty (221-206 BC)

Today, it’s commonly used in seals (name chops), hence the name

When making gifs/edits, these fonts may be good if you want to convey something that is older or has an ancient feel, or very formal/ official

Side note: one thing that really stood out for me when I was watching LBFAD was that the “heavenly realm” uses seal script while the “mortal realm” uses the clerical or regular scripts - which kinda gives the feeling that the heavenly realm is much older or more traditional which makes sense since the folks there are immortals

2. 隶书 (lì shū) - clerical script

Evolved from the late Warring States period to the Qin dynasty, but only became dominant during the Han dynasty (202 BC-9 AD, 25-220 AD)

Characters are typically wide and flat, with long horizontal strokes and short vertical strokes

Another important characteristic is 蚕头燕尾 (cán tóu yàn wěi): literally “head of a silkworm, tail of a swallow”, meaning the start of a stroke is heavy but the end of the stroke is light (tapered)

Sometimes, horizontal strokes or downward diagonal strokes have very dramatically flared tails

3. 楷体 (kǎi tǐ) - regular script

Actual term in calligraphy: 楷书 (kǎi shū)

Emerged between the Han dynasty and Three Kingdoms period (220-280), gained dominance during the Northern and Southern dynasties (386-589), but only matured during the Tang dynasty (618-690, 705-907)

Still very commonly in use today, and is till today the most easily and widely recognised style since this is the script to which beginners to the language (whether kids in China learning it as their first language or people from around the globe learning Chinese as a foreign language) are usually first exposed

Each stroke is placed slowly and carefully, and all strokes are distinct from each other

4. 行书 (xíng shū) - running/ semi-cursive script

Emerged during the Han dynasty

Approximates normal handwriting

Strokes (and more rarely, characters) are allowed to run into one another (i.e. join up), for instance the word 东 (dōng) in the third line in the image above where the horizontal stroke is joined to the vertical stroke

The brush/ pen leaves the paper less often than in the regular script, explaining the joining of strokes

Characters appear rounder and less angular

I like to use these fonts when trying to show it’s someone’s handwriting, or when I want something that’s a bit carefree but still want the text to be more or less legible

5. 草书 (cǎo shū) - cursive script

Originated through two phases during the period from the Han to Jin dynasties (266-420)

A fully cursive script with drastic simplifications that requires specialised knowledge, therefore it’s not particularly legible to the average person and has never achieved widespread use beyond the realm of literati calligraphers

Characters may be written without lifting the brush from the paper at all

Strokes are modified or eliminated completely to facilitate smooth writing and to create a beautiful, abstract appearance, and have a highly rounded and soft appearance with a lack of angular lines

I usually use cursive script fonts when I want to convey a mood that is more 潇洒 (xiāo sǎ) - unfettered and unrestrained

This script is the source of Japanese hiragana and many modern simplified forms of Chinese characters

Regular script -> running script -> cursive script -> Japanese hiragana a-i-u-e-o line

書 (shū) traditional form of “book”: in seal script, clerical script, cursive script, running script, and regular script

The cursive script (in the middle) is how the simplified form of the character 书 was derived

GROUP 2: OTHER CALLIGRAPHY/ SCRIPT STYLES & VARIATIONS

Other styles of calligraphy that are different types/ variations of the above 5

1. 行楷 (xíng kǎi) - running regular script

The running regular script follows (mostly) the stroke order of the regular script, but is “freer” than the regular script while being more regular than the running script

Regular script: emphasises stroke order and in calligraphy, is very strict about how the brush is held, when the brush is stopped, and how the brush is turned,

Running regular script: more “spirited” and convenient, still follows stroke order to a large extent especially for the main strokes

2. 颜楷 (yán kǎi) - Yan-style regular script

Sometimes also called 颜体 (yán tǐ) “Yan script”

Created by the Tang dynasty calligrapher 颜真卿 Yan Zhenqing (709-785)

Conveys a spirit that is solemn, upright, and full of vigour

This is in comparison to early Tang calligraphy which was characterised by thinner strokes and an overall more “introverted” feeling

3. 魏碑 (wèi bēi) - Wei stele script

Sometimes also called 魏楷 (wèi kǎi) “Wei-style regular script”

This is the name given to the script of stone engravings of the Northern dynasties during the Northern and Southern dynasties

Later had a big influence on the regular scripts of the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties

4. 新魏 (xīn wèi) - new Wei script

Came about towards the end of the Qing dynasty (1636-1912) and the start of the Republican era (1912-1949)

From the Wei stele script, it emphasises dots, top right to bottom left strokes, and top left to bottom right strokes (I don’t know how to properly translate 撇捺 (piě nà) lol), especially the edges and corners of strokes

Strokes are straighter which emphasises the strength and hardness of the original Wei stele script

5. 瘦金体 (shòu jīn tǐ) - slender gold script

A type of regular script, also called 鹤体 (hè tǐ) “crane script”

Created by Emperor Huizong (1082-1135) of the Song dynasty

A pretty unique script in that the strokes are slender yet stern and hard, while still being quite well-bodied, and having a free and easy spirit

As the strokes are relatively thin and hard, the brushwork tends to be exposed: you can clearly see the movement of the brush as it turns, is lifted, and pauses

It was originally called 瘦筋体 (shòu jīn tǐ) “slender sinew/ vein script”, but 筋 was changed to the homophone 金 “gold” out of respect to the emperor

GROUP 3: MOVEABLE TYPES & BEYOND

Hello invention of the moveable type!

1. 宋体 (sòng tǐ) - Song script

The Chinese version of serifs

Vertical strokes are thick while horizontal strokes are thin with triangles at the end of single horizontal strokes to mimic the pausing of a brush at the end of a stroke in calligraphy

The names “Song ti” and “Ming ti” refer to the same thing - mainland China uses “Song ti”, Hong Kong and Macau use “Ming ti”, and Taiwan uses both

However, the Song script as we know it today didn’t actually first emerge during the Song dynasty (960-1279), but during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) with the rapid advancement of printing technology

During the Song dynasty, there were three major areas of production (Zhejiang, Sichuan, Fujian) but instead of using scripts we would recognise as Song/ Ming today, they actually each referenced the calligraphy style of a Tang dynasty calligrapher

It was only during the Ming dynasty that the Song/ Ming script we’re familiar with today was formed from the mimicking of the scripts used in Zhejiang but also making changes such as straightening the strokes

2. 仿宋 (fáng sòng) - imitation Song

Differences from Song script: horizontal strokes slant up slightly, horizontal and vertical strokes do not have very big variations in width, horizontal strokes lack the triangles at the end

Originated during the Republican era, specifically around 1915-1916, modelled after the scripts used in woodblock printing in Lin’an (modern Hangzhou) during the Song Dynasty

3. 明体 (míng tǐ) - Ming script

See Song script above

4. 黑体 (hēi tǐ) - sans serif

The Chinese version of sans serifs

Characters have strokes of even thickness and lack decorations

Designed for printing and legibility

5. 大黑 (dà hēi) - heavy sans serif

A classification that this font website uses to differentiate the thicker sans serif fonts

6. 细黑 (xì hēi) - light sans serif

A classification that this font website uses to differentiate the thinner sans serif fonts

7. 姚体 (yáo tǐ) - Yao script

Similar to Songti, but tends to be slimmer and longer

Combines the bold and flat look of Heiti with the regularity and neatness of Songti to produce a sturdy yet delicate and dignified font

GROUP 4: MODE OF WRITING

If the above categories are too granular in the details, these two are more generic filters that group fonts based on what tool had been used to write them

1. 毛笔 (máo bǐ) - brush-written

2. 钢笔 (gāng bǐ) - pen-written (actually means “fountain pen”)

GROUP 5: MISCELLANEOUS

And lastly, the more decorative fonts that have been grouped together based on their look or common use

1. 幼圆 (yòu yuán) - rounded fonts

2. 广告 (guǎng gào) - advertisement

3. 彩云 (cǎi yún) - colourful clouds

Kinda like bubble fonts

4. 卡通 (kǎ tōng) - cartoon

5. 综艺 (zōng yì) - variety show

6. 娃娃 (wá wa) - baby

7. 琥珀 (hǔ pò) - amber gemstone

Fonts where individual glyphs in a character overlap

8. 古印 (gǔ yìn) - ancient prints

9. 空心 (kōng xīn) - hollow

Outlined fonts

10. 海报 (hǎi bào) - poster

You've probably answered this lots before, but: do you have a fairly clear hierarchy of favourites among the Royal Ballet principals? And your favourite role or two for each? :-) Also: of the recent retirees, who would you most like to see guesting?

Also a) thank you so much for obtaining the info that it'll be Nela and Ball for that "Winter's Tale" stream! Partner and I have got our tickets booked to see it at the Cineworld in Aberdeen. <3 It's the ballet that got me properly back into ballet, when I watched it during lockdown, and just: yay. :-)

And b) your blog has just been so lovely and helpful in growing my ballet knowledge! And your gifs are superb, and your Matthew Ball love is validating. :D

Also also: do you have any favourites among the Scottish Ballet dancers? I was lucky enough to see "Cinders" on tour, and I was so impressed with both Bruno Micchiardi (as Cinders) and Jessica Fyfe (as Princess Louise), but I am no expert.

I think someone asked me for a ranking of all the principals some time ago, but I can't even find the post anymore; I don't mind one bit answering this again! <3

If I have to talk strictly about my faves, it goes like this:

Nunez (eheh!): if have to narrow down her most iconic roles I have to give you at least three (please bear with me, I'm doing my best), which are O/O, Kitri and Aurora.

Takada: Titania and O/O. I'm just so very sorry that she's been more injured than not lately. I miss her.

Hayward: Juliet and any Ashton role I can think of (rhapsody, enigma variations, those bits of Titania we got, etc.). I also think she makes one of the best Claras out there.

Kaneko: O/O (saw her live in the BS pdd and the White Adagio with Vadim and it was life changing, bye). Also her Gypsy girl in the two pigeons is iconic. Special mention for her Aurora.

Lamb: Manon. Signature role. Was born to play it. I also really love her Mary Vetsera and her Aurora.

I'm a bit uncertain if I should include Anna Rose or not...sometimes I really love her, but overall I'd like her to be more consistent. But I'll say she was born to play Juliet.

Muntagirov: he's more versatile than people give him credit for, and really has the whole package, but I'd say his best roles are Siegfried and De Grieux.

Ball: he's such an outstanding actor that it's hard to choose, but I'm going with Romeo and Albrecht.

Bracewell: another wonderful Romeo right here, and I was blown away by his Hamlet in the Ashton insights.

Mcrae: Oberon and Rudolph for sure.

Sambè: sorry to repeat myself but we have another great Romeo right here. From what I've seen he makes also a great Colas.

As for retirees, the one that I really wish was still performing is Roberta Marquez, though maybe she isn't exactly a recent one. Out of the most recent ones I only miss Federico Bonelli because he always brought something special to his performances, although I have to say that the struggles and limitations that come with age were very visible in the last couple of years (his Siegfried variation in the SL cinema relay with Takada comes to mind).

As for the winter's tale I'm really happy to see someone who appreciates it as much as I do! I think it's a truly lovely ballet, one of the few modern classics that really stuck with me. You're very welcome for the info and I hope you'll have a great time at the theatre...unfortunately I found out that it won't be streamed in my country, so I'm going to miss out on it 😤

Scottish Ballet is one of those companies that I wish had more footage available, because bits I do get to see are really impressive. I'm kind of familiar with Constance Devernay, Bethany kingsley-garner and Andrew Peasgood because I've seen them in the recordings of The Fairy's Kiss and The Snow Queen, and I seriously enjoyed those performances!

I wish there was a full recording of Cinders because both the trailer and the rehearsal look amazing! Jessica Fyfe is a really delicate and expressive dancer from the clips I've seen of her, and both her and Micchiardi impressed me in the rehearsal poste on YT, cause the intentions and mannerisms in their dancing were so clear: I immediately caught up on the reversal of Cinders gender and that she was the princess even though I hadn't read about the novelty introduced by this production beforehand, but everything was immediately clear thanks to their attention to detail.

The little I've seen from this company makes me wish for more!

first thank you??? that's so sweet and i'm glad you adore them!! okay so i’m glad you added the mw clarification because i am not a fan of his errr politics (also how is that album only 4 years old but he looks SO DIFFERENT??) - BUT bradley would 10000% BELT songs like that out in the car - he's def a big country fan sorry - and she would be like...

“i know your callsign was rooster, but you don’t need to constantly crow like one…” you said, but out of the corner of his eye, bradley could see a smile creeping across your face.

he eventually stopped, but the smile on both your faces only grew when a little voice from the backseat piped up: “no, sing daddy, sing!” maggie pounded her little fists on her car seat.

gil quickly joined his little sister and soon the car was filled with chanting. “sing! sing! sing!” "daddy! daddy! daddy!"

“- yay!” the backseat erupted in cheers from your four and ten year old and bradley tossed you a pleased smile, at which you just rolled your eyes good-naturedly.

- ‘candy mountain!” maggie called out, only getting half the song title.

you tapped your index finger against your chin. “hmmm, both good choices…” you browsed through bradley’s spotify until you shot him a soft smile once you seemingly found what you were looking for and queued it up. “but i'm gonna go with a different one. did you know your father sang to me at our wedding?”

bradley winked at you, immediately knowing what song you had picked. he grabbed your hand across the console and kissed the back of it.

“really?” gil asked.

you turned around to explain to them both. “he practiced for weeks, even had the band we hired backing him because you need a band for this song, it’s larger than life just like daddy.”

chasin’ you was finishing up, but bradley couldn’t help himself and clicked the fast forward button on the carplay, skipping the end of the track. it was silent for a moment - he could even see the kids leaning forward in their seats in the rear view mirror in anticipation - and then the drums and the horns, followed by that iconic baseline hit.

everlasting love wasn’t a terribly popular song - at least not anymore. but you both had come across it during a long car ride to visit your parents in berkeley after it popped up on bradley’s discover weekly playlist. it had quickly become your song and whenever it came up on shuffle over the preceding years, you'd both smile and think about each other. of course you’d played it since and the kids knew it (as well as a four and ten year old could know a song).

but you had never told them the significance behind it.

that bradley had sang it to you as his speech at your wedding, complete with a full band and a slew of smooth dance moves. it could have been corny. like really fucking corny. but it worked. it really worked. because bradley was larger than life and he could just do stuff like that - literally serenade you at your wedding.

you had first sat in your chair at the head table, a little gobsmacked, your mouth wide open in shock - or disbelief - until you had eventually gotten up as if in a trance and walked towards the stage, eventually standing in the middle of the dance floor. around the second verse, bradley had jumped off the stage to dance alongside you, still singing along. miraculously, he didn’t stumble through the lyrics once, despite all your giggles and crazy dance moves. when he finished, you collapsed against him, giving him one hell of a kiss as he spun you around in his arms.

it was such a pure and honest moment and he knew that was when all your family, friends, and colleagues finally saw you as he did. as his everlasting love.

back in the present - bradley was happily singing along to the song while your kids were sitting in the backseat, completely captivated.

open up your eyes, then you'll realize here i stand with my everlasting love, need you by my side, girl you'll be my bride

the kids kept giggling and chiming in with brief snippets of the lyrics, but all you could do was watch bradley - your everlasting love.

i’m sure someone has made this list before. but i’ve recently reread the robin (1993-2009) comics and realised how Batshit Crazy tim’s time as robin was. here’s a list of major events that happened during his tenure:

obeah man???: still not clear on exactly what happened here, but his parents are both poisoned, resulting in his mom’s death and his dad’s long-term coma.

knightfall/knightquest/knightsend: the iconic arc when bane breaks bruce’s back and azrael (derogatory) temporarily becomes batman then quickly goes off the rails and tries to kill tim, forcing him to go solo and work with huntress (hashtag girlboss) before bruce returns and handles azrael

contagion: the incurable Apocalypse Virus™ threatens to wipe out gotham city and tim naturally catches it and nearly dies before bruce returns with The Cure

the final night: a sun-eater tries to Eat The Sun. tim meets impulse! robin and spoiler defend gotham city on their own during the crisis! tim’s girlfriend’s crazy mafia uncle tries to kill him after finding them in bed together (not doing the sexy. but it looked like they were gonna do it.)

cataclysm: a massive earthquake levels half of gotham, throwing the city into crisis and causing some problems in tim’s personal life as his father relocates them to keystone briefly before tim’s misery convinces him to move them back to gotham

no man’s land (a personal favourite): gotham’s post-earthquake crisis worsens and the government decides that the best solution is to declare it no man’s land. shockingly, this causes Even More Problems. there’s a whole thing where tim’s dad realises tim snuck off into the city, and the news about it makes people sympathetic enough to gotham’s (cough a rich white family’s) plight that the government decides to actually help. cass becomes batgirl!

young justice/teen titans drama!: so much went on here. i don’t even know where to begin. the whole imperiex/our worlds at war apocalyptic crisis. tim quits young justice after the thing where the justice league discovers batman’s Super Paranoid Contingency Plans™ causes the team to distrust him. he returns to the team, which is disbanded after a team-up with the titans goes badly. the teen titans is formed. general fuckery involving tim’s civilian life!

unmasked: tim’s dad finds out he’s robin, confronts batman in the batcave with a gun and forces tim to quit. steph becomes robin and cuts off contact with tim. superboy tries to convince tim to come back to teen titans, but tim insists that he’s Totally Happy Just Being A Civilian, Kon. Really. He’s Less Stressed Now That He’s Not Dealing With Constant Crises! (lying)

war games: oh god. we all know this one. gang war! gotham in peril! steph dies! tim meets evil!future batman!tim who murdered the entire rogue gallery with the gun that killed bruce’s parents. tim seriously considers killing himself to prevent this future.

identity crisis: a Mysterious Villain begins targeting families of the justice league. because tim is not allowed to have anything remotely nice, his dad is murdered (by captain boomerang, which is frankly adding insult to injury). tim invents an uncle to avoid getting adopted by bruce (really, kid? really?). bruce finds out and helps him solidify the fake uncle's identity (bruce no)

robin: to kill a bird: jason todd returns all crazy and nearly kills tim at titans’ tower (dressed in a version of his robin costume) and signs his name in tim’s blood. theatre kid much, jason?

infinite crisis: c’mon dc, you’ve done like four world-ending crises in the last decade. chill your goddamn tits. the teen titans, doom patrol, and justice society of america team up to take down superboy prime. normal superboy dies due to the fight, despite tim’s desperate attempt to find a cure. also bludhaven got nuked and tim’s stepmother gets a traumatic brain injury and is permanently hospitalised. then bruce, tim, and dick go on vacation and tim accepts bruce’s offer to adopt him! yay!

one year later: cass is briefly evil! the league of assassins tries to recruit tim, who barely escapes with his life after turning them down. then he goes a little crazy with grief, tries to clone kon, and has a brief relationship with extreme violence before deciding to break it off.

the resurrection of ra’s al ghul: damian arrives in gotham! and tries to kill tim multiple times! ra’s tries to seduce tim to the Dark Side with the promise of resurrecting his parents! tim refuses! ra’s tries to force bruce to sacrifice either tim or damian to become his new host body! tim tries to sacrifice himself but is convinced by dick to Not Do That at the last minute!

batman r.i.p.: bruce dies, but not really! fun times!

battle for the cowl: i like to pretend this doesn’t exist, because it is Stupid As Fuck. jason nearly kills tim again, but damian (!) rescues him.

red robin: dick makes damian robin. the end!

but not really

and then of course the whole red robin series (which i love) is just like. tim is passively suicidal! tim loses an entire important organ while working with the loa! tim becomes ceo of wayne enterprises then blows up the loa and ra’s almost kills him! tim is nearly raped by one of ra’s’ daughters because ra’s really wants tim’s babies! this is not dealt with at all!!! love that for him

Part 6 of DODGERS VS PHILLIES BABY!!!

Pairing: Miles Teller x Fem!Reader

Chapter Summary: After revealing that you were pregnant with each of your families, you and Miles decided to do the gender reveal on opening week at Dodgers Stadium. The Dodgers were playing the Phillies that day so it was perfect. What team will baby Teller be on? Phillies for a Girl ❤️ or Dodgers for a Boy 💙

Warnings: FLUFF!! Is gender reveal a warning? 😅

A/N: BEFORE Y'ALL COME AT ME, I respect Miles and Keleigh's relationship and marriage. THEY ARE RELATIONSHIP GOALS!!!! I wanted to write this because I love Miles and baseball. If you feel this isn't for you, please don't read it.

After revealing that you were pregnant to both sides of the family, you and Miles decided not to tell the public that you were pregnant. You wanted to keep your little bundle of joy a secret for a while but then you got a surprising email from your manager.

Email from Manager: Good evening Y/n. You've received an email from the Dodgers inviting you and Miles to a Phillies vs Dodgers game. There are three dates you can pick: May 1, May 2, or May 3. You'll be 28 weeks into your pregnancy by then. Would you like me to accept the invitation for you?

Miles was next to you as you were reading the email on the couch. "Wow, that's perfect timing."

"I know right! We had our first date at a Phillies game and now we're pregnant. But I don't think we should go with me being pregnant. I don't want the public to know I'm pregnant." You explain to Miles.

"I know Sugar. The public will know soon with the press tour happening next month." Miles was going on a press tour next month for a movie he was in. You were going with him while you were going to be 23 weeks into your pregnancy. "Are you sure you don't want to go?"

Miles looks at you as you were thinking. "You know next week the baby is going to be 18 weeks. We can find out the gender at our next appointment." He tells you and puts his hand on your bump.

Then an idea pops into your mind. What if we do a gender reveal at Dodger Stadium? It would be a dream if that happened.

"Babe, I have an idea. What if we do a gender reveal at Dodgers Stadium. It would be so iconic if we do that!" You say excited about your idea. "Just think about it! We fell in love at a Phillies vs Dodgers game, got married at Phillies Stadium, and now we're going to do a gender reveal at Dodgers Stadium. It's a baseball love story."

"That would be iconic. But I can't wait until you're 28 weeks pregnant to find out what our baby will be!" Miles wines into the baby bump. "Why does your mommy have to be so complicated baby girl."

"I'm not complicated, you are! Also who said this baby was a girl? I think it's going to be a boy." You argue back at Miles. "Isn't that right baby. You're going to be a boy." As you say that the baby starts kicking. "You see baby agrees."

"Fine, you win. We'll wait until you're 28 weeks to find out the gender." Miles says in defeat. "You should email your manager and tell her we're going."

Replied Email from you: Yes! That would be amazing! If it's possible can you ask them if we can do our gender reveal that day?

Manager Replied Email: Yes, I'll ask them and let you know.

The next day your manager emails you back saying the Dodgers have agreed to have you do your gender reveal at the stadium. You were so excited and looked at your baby bump.

"Yay baby! We're going to find out what you are at Dodgers Stadium. Hopefully, you're a boy." You whisper since Miles was sleeping right next to you.

After a long month of Press for Miles's new movie, you're finally home and ready for your gender reveal at Dodgers Stadium. Both Miles and your family were here in support of you guys and the baby.

ANNOUNCER: Good Evening everyone! Welcome to Dodgers Stadium! Today we have a special occasion for a recurring celebrity, Y/N L/N!!

The whole crowd cheers for you and Miles as you wave at them. A Dodgers staff member comes up to you and Miles to give you a microphone.

ANNOUNCER: Hi Y/N so glad to have you back! How are you feeling? It's such a special occasion that the Dodgers are having for you and Miles.

"I'm doing amazing! It feels good to be back home!!" You say and the Dodger crowd cheers. "I'm really grateful that the Dodgers get to hold this special occasion for us and our family."

ANNOUNCER: From our Dodger Family we are so happy we're able to host it here! But the question that's on everyone's mind is. What team do you think Baby Teller is? Dodger Blue for a baby boy or Phillie Red for a baby girl.

All of a sudden you hear your family behind you chanting. "DODGERS! DODGERS! DODGERS!" Even the crowd starts chanting.

"Well, you can definitely tell what team my family is." You giggle while your family and the crowd cheer. "To be honest I just want a healthy baby. It would be a plus if it was a baby boy."

ANNOUNCER: What about you Miles? How are you feeling? It's amazing how you guys had your first date at a Phillies game, then you proposed to Y/N at the Dodgers Stadium. After a couple months, you guys had your wedding at Phillies Stadium to now having a Gender Reveal at Dodger Stadium. It's a baseball love story!

"I'm doing Phillie Phantastic!" All the Phillie fans cheer for the reference Miles said. "It truly is a baseball love story! I'm so happy that our love for baseball has brought us here today. Even if we both like different teams." You laugh at the last comment and he gives you a smile. Gosh, you love him so much!

ANNOUNCER: So Miles, what team do you think Baby Teller is? Do you want a baby girl to watch the Phillies games with you?

Miles smiles at the crowd to then looks at you. "I would love to have a baby girl to watch every Phillie game with me." Every Phillie fan in the Dodger crowd cheers at his statement. "But overall I'm just happy that we get to have a baby."

ANNOUNCER: Are you guys ready for the Gender Reveal?

You both look at each other and smile. You guys were ready for this. After you finish looking at each other you nod at the announcer.

Someone from the Dodger's staff gives you a ball that had a powder that would reveal the gender of your baby. You would pitch the ball at Miles and he would hit it to then show the gender of the baby.

"Are you ready Hot Stuff?" You ask him before you leave to the pitcher's mount.

"Ready as I'll ever be Sugar," Miles says and kisses your temple before you head to the mount.

You walk to the pitcher's mount and get into position to pitch the ball. "Ready!?"Miles nods once he fixes his stance to bat the ball.

You pitch the ball at Miles and he hits it. The ball opens revealing that it's a boy.

"OMG, IT'S A BOY!!" You shout once the powder is revealed. Miles runs to you and hugs you. "It's a boy Miles! I'm so happy." You excitedly say as happy tears pour down from your eyes.

"I'm so happy Sugar! We're having a baby boy!"

ANNOUNCER: IT'S A BOY! DODGER BLUE BOY!! CONGRATULATIONS MILES AND Y/N!!

The whole crowd cheers at the announcement. They were happy for you and Miles having this baby boy. You're both so happy about this and very excited about the next chapter in your lives.

I'm fully prepared to be sad.

I wanted to watch this yesterday, but we didn't get around to it.

They should'a finished the trilogy.
