Childe hugs you as he leaves the premise; you watch him go off into the distance down the streets of Liyue on a trip for ingredients.

Relaxing, you sit back down on your porch, rocking in an old wooden chair and reading the latest on the newspaper; Ningguang is committing tax evasion again? Who would've guessed.

From your field of vision you see a short girl with dark purple hair strut her way over to your porch, holding a stack of flyers. Her outfit was black, with red flowers and fancy robes, smiling brightly; brighter than the lanterns of Liyue.

Still grinning, she walks up to you, and holds out a flyer. "Hu Tao here from Wangsheng Funeral Parlor; I have a proposal, if you have the time," she twirled once, awaiting your response.

"I'm not interested," you sigh, scanning over the flyer once before going back to reading the newspaper.

"Hang on buster, I'm not done promoting our service yet," she held up one of her own flyers, putting her finger under the line which said Pre-Order a Funeral Today for 50% Off . "Now's your once-in-a-lifetime (literally) chance to get 50% off your funeral when that day comes around; you never know, you could die tomorrow of all times and you won't be prepared for your buria-"

"I said I'm not interested," you scoff, staring her dead in the eyes.

"Well, I know just what can up this offer," Hu Tao grabbed an album out of the bag she was hauling with her. Flipping it open to about halfway through, she pulled out a fine printed drawing of a casket, a bit bigger than your typical model. "Order within the next 24 hours, and you can have this premium, tip-top quality casket, made with Inazuman wood and made by Mr. Zhongli himself. You've gotta' buy it--I mean, come on. Who wouldn't want Mr. Zhongli to put together your casket with his mystical hands- sorry, I'm getting off topic," she was still smiling, convinced you'd take her up on this offer.

"I have a boyfriend already," you sigh. "If you think putting some conventionally attractive businessman in your promotional material is going to sway me, you're sorely mistaken."

"Well well, is that not enough then still? I didn't want to have to do this, but," Hu Tao put back the album, this time pulling out a tattered portrait of a fine man with a moustache. "For free, with your purchase, I'll subcontract this world-renowned embalmer to help preserve your body right from the day you die. Let's be real, who would want to look at a gross rotting corpse at your grand funeral in a few decades?"

"Stop being so morbid, I'm not planning on dying anytime soon."

"We can change that rather quickly," Hu Tao's expression instantly changed, being even more morbid than before. Cracking her knuckles, and laughing almost manically, you now felt intimidated by her mere presence. "So, about that purchase?"

Frantically, you reach your hand out. "Please, let's get this over with."

Hu Tao handed you a pen and a document, on which you signed your name at the bottom without even reading it through; big mistake.

"Well, oopsies- that was the contract for a full-price service, without the benefits. That's a shame, though, I best be off now. You can keep the flyer," as if she was trying to get out of there as fast as possible, Hu Tao essentially sprinted away from the scene, out of sight from anyone.

What an interesting situation you found yourself in. Childe would be concerned as to how this happened, however, he could definitely pay for all of the costs.

LATER ✨

"Did you find everything?" You ask Childe, as he walks back in your home together, carrying several bags full of fresh goods from the market.

"I did," he smiled, setting the bags down to hold your hand. "Anything exciting happen while I was gone?"

You sigh, "I signed an expensive contract for my funeral when I eventually die. I'm not sure what I was thinking."

He doesn't even look surprised, and just sighs. "It's okay, I can pay for that," releasing from the tension regarding your encounter with Hu Tao, you enjoy the rest of your night with him, cooking and having a good rest.

Connor walked off the stage even as the applause and cheers continued. The concert had been long and hard but it had been one of the most successful ones so far as far as no technical issues or unruly fans. Once he was out of sight, he wiped the sweat from his face and gratefully took the water bottle one of the stagehands offered. It was another concert finished and once he had caught his breath, Connor headed back to his private dressing room to see Devon.

With the typical congratulations and thumbs up from the crew, Connor reached his room and gave a knock in case Devon was already there waiting. “Hey D? You here?” he asked as he opened the door and walked in. “Wanted to see what the final tally was for the ticket sales tonight. How did we do?”

“Hey kid I’m in here,” Devon called and waved at Connor as he walked in, “great show tonight kid, you made a killing with the sales! This was one of your best yet. I gotta ask, have you given any more thought to the Europe tour that the label wants you to do to promote your latest album?”

Connor beamed proudly at that. “The crowd seemed really into it, more so than usual. And Tom from merchandise said he actually sold out of a few things tonight!” Connor walked over to the mini fridge and grabbed one of the bottles of beer from it and then sat down in his oversized chair.

“Yeah, I think we definitely need to do the tour. First one of that scale so if the label is willing to go with it that will get a hell yeah from me” Connor said as he took a drink, knowing that one was all he could have - for now. He still had a meet and greet to get to in a little bit.

“Trust me kid if you keep going the way you are, between ticket sales and merchandise, the sky’s the limit,” Devon smiled as he finished the tally of the sales. “And the label wants you to step up with the interviews as well, so I’ve booked you some of the morning chat shows next week. This is going to be huge, just the push we have been waiting for!”

Connor made a small face at that last bit. He liked the music and performing. Talking to people was another thing and especially when he had no choice in who he had to talk to. But he knew Devon was right and that it was what the label wanted and what he had to do. He’d just make the best of it.

“You’ll give me the basic script to stick to right?” he asked with a small smirk, knowing that Devon was fully aware of how easily he could get off on tangents during interviews. “And security will be there too right? I’d rather not have to deal with that crazy stalker on my own if she shows up!”

“She won’t get anywhere near you,” Devon promised, “and security will be with you at all times. I will personally make sure you’ll have a ready to go script, I’ll get our PR team to work on it,” he said. “The label knows if you work hard at this, you might even get album of the year, I’ve heard sales are doing extremely well on the global charts as well. They will absolutely adore any positive publicity we can give them right now.”

Connor nodded in approval as he enjoyed his beer. “Definitly won’t complain about that!” he laughed. “I’ll get with the PR and marketing team in a day or two and we can start hammering something out and working out the details. I got plans after the meet and greet tonight so I’ll need at least one of the security guys as usual. Got myself a date” he said with a smirk.

Devon grinned at that, “I’ll let security know and make arrangements for you while you’re at the meet and greet. And who’s the lucky lady,” there was a pause, “or guy, I definitely don’t judge,” he added.

“Names James” Connor said with a grin. “He’s actually been to a couple of the shows and meet and greets. We’ve talked a bit here and there. Thought he might be one of those stalker types at first but hes never pushed or done any of the creepy stuff ya know? At the last show, he asked me for a date and figured why not?”

“Well enjoy yourself kid you’ve earned it,” Devon grinned, “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” he added with a wink as he went up to grab himself a beer from the fridge.

Connor lifted the mostly empty beer bottle with a grin at that then reached into his pocket and pulled out his lighter and the well-worn tin he usually had in his pocket. He saw Devon’s look as he opened it and took out one of the spliff rolls he had made earlier.

“Oh come on man, don’t give me that look” he said. “I haven't had one since a few hours before the show! You’re gonna make me do the damned meet and greet without it?”

“I’m just trying to look out for you kid,” Devon said, raising his hands in a ‘I surrender’ position. “You know if the label finds out about this they won’t be happy, you signed a contract that said that you wouldn’t bring the label into disrepute. I mean you’re hardly the first musician out there to indulge in these vices but the press will eat you alive if they find out. So, ya know know, go easy and be careful.”

“Fine, fine…” Connor said with a small sigh as he put the tin and lighter back in his pocket. “The things I do for you and the damn label company,” he said, sounding annoyed but there was a slight smirk on his face all the same. “I’ll keep the vices to my personal time” Connor conceded as he finished the beer.

“That’s all I ask kid,” Devon grinned. “Anything that can give us some plausible deniability if the higher-ups start sniffing around, what the suits don’t know won’t hurt them right?”

“I knew there was a reason I liked ya Devon,” Connor said with a laugh as he stood. “Well guess it’s time to start that meet and greet huh?” he asked as he looked at the clock. “Think the paparazzi are around again?”

“I noticed a few of them hanging around the lobby, so you might have a media scrum on your hands on the way to the meet and greet,” Devon said apologetically, “but you know how to handle the press, make sure they can’t get any photos worth selling,” he said with a grin.

Backstreet Boys’ “DNA World Tour” concert review - October 8th, 2022

Last night, American pop group Backstreet Boys was in Paris to promote their latest album, DNA, in front of a packed venue.

The opening part was made by a DJ during half an hour.

Then, the boys came on stage and started the show with I Wanna Be With You (from their debut album, Backstreet Boys). They continued with The Call (from Black & Blue) and Don’t Want You Back (from Millennium).

After that, Brian thanked us for coming out to support them and he told us that the new album was already available and sang an extract of Nobody Else, from DNA. The band came back and sang New Love (from their latest album) and Get Down (from their debut album).

Then Howie came on the stage, also thanked us for the support and sang Chateau. We all loved it. After that, they took us back to the beginning of the decade with Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely (from Millennium), which we all sang.together.

They kept it going with Incomplete (from Never Gone), Undone (from This Is Us) and More Than That (from Black & Blue).

Afterward, Nick was on stage and told that next year will mark their 30th anniversary and that time flies. He then asked the guys how old they were when they started the group, Nick being the youngest. They all said how old they were and then they continued with Chances (from DNA), Shape of My Heart (from Black & Blue), Drowning, Keep Playing Games (With My Heart), As Long As You Love Me (from their debut album), No Place, Breathe (both from DNA). Don’t Wanna Lose You Now (from Millennium), I’ll Never Break Your Heart, All I Have To Give, Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) (all from their debut album).

As the concert was coming to an end, more songs were sung: We’ve Got It Going On (from their debut album, Backstreet Boys), It’s Gotta Be You (from Millennium), That’s The Way I Like It (from their debut album), Get Another Boyfriend (from Black & Blue), The One, I Want It That Way (from Millennium).

They ended with Don’t Go Breaking My Heart (from DNA) and Larger Than Life (from Millennium).

Backstreet Boys is one of my favorite bands and they’re iconic. I’ve already seen them before and they are awesome on stage. Their shows last a couple of hours with interludes and talks to the audience. If you haven’t been to one of their concerts, do it because it’s a great experience

The Ledge #536: Covers

As I have stated quite often during these cover tune broadcasts, I have a special folder where I place remakes as I come across them. Once that folder is full, it's time to do a show.

This time around, that folder grew at a pretty rapid pace. Of course I'm going to air Ultrabomb's version of "Sonic Reducer". I don't think anybody is surprised by the inclusion of "Borstal Breakdown" from that new live Replacements album. But many may be shocked by the inclusion of two tracks from the 1968 collaboration between Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. Honestly, I had never heard these bonkers tunes until one day I hung out in my friend's record store. Seriously, that version of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" is something everybody should check out.

But what made it essential that I do this theme this very week are two special records that arrived a few days ago. The first is All The Covers (And More) by The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. Released on September 30 on Rum Bar Records, this 38 track compilation gathers together all of the remakes the band has recorded in their 25 year history.

The other is the latest project by Geoff Palmer. Standing In The Spotlight is a track by track recreation of Dee Dee Ramone's infamous 1989 "rap" album. Palmer, along with friends such as Kurt Baker and Brad Marino clearly show their love and respect for the man on this album, which was released today (September 18), Dee Dee's birthday.

I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely helps not only pay their bills but fund their next set of wonderful songs. André 3000 Links With Supreme In Latest Fashion Endeavor

André 3000, legendary member of Souther Hip-Hop duo Outkast, made headlines after announcing his latest artistic endeavor. However, many of Three Stacks' fans will be surprised to learn this latest project does not involve new music. Instead, the rap icon announced a collaboration with fashion brand Supreme. André 3000 and Supreme Link Up The announcement comes ahead of Supreme's new fall/winter 2022 collection. To promote the upcoming drop, André 3000 appeared in a series of videos posted by Supreme on social media. The videos feature the rapper expressing his thoughts on what it means to create art. He spends time discussing the need he feels to create as an artist. He also compares creating to necessities for himself, "If I ain't creating nothing, I don't feel good...at a certain point, you gotta feed yourself." Many fans found it odd that André 3000 decided to feed himself creatively through fashion. However, to those who followed his career closely, they would know this choice was not at all unexpected. André 3000's History with Fashion Three Stacks always found himself tied into the fashion world. His sometimes outrageous outfits caused many headlines during his peak fame in the early-mid 2000s. He likewise referenced fashion personalities in his music, like Marc Jacobs. However, he was not a mere admirer of the industry. This Supreme collaboration is not his first attempt to create his line of products. Hardcore Outkast fans might recall that from around 06-09, André 3000 became involved in several non-musical creative pursuits. One of these pursuits was a failed fashion line. His Benjamin Bixby line did not fair well. The line could not find an audience and swiftly became a footnote on the rapper's resume. Fortunately, this setback did not deter him from pursuing his ambitions through a new medium. This perseverance also served as a subject in the videos posted by Supreme. Why Fans Should Be Excited Fans of the rapper might be upset that André's creative hunger is being filled via a fashion collaboration. They shouldn't fret. André 3000 has become much more active creatively than he used to be. Along with this Supreme collab, he recorded a verse for the song "Life of the Party" for Ye's Donda album. In an interview with legendary producer Rick Rubin, Three Stacks talked about his lack of drive to pursue new projects. Thankfully this drive seems to be slowly but surely returning to the rapper. Perhaps if the fashion collaboration turns out well, he'll once again feel the musical itch. Alternatively, his fashion success could blossom into something bigger than anyone expected, like with Kanye's Yeezy brand. No matter what, André 3000 is a true artist, and anything he chooses to do will undoubtedly be him. Something I haven’t talked much on here is that during the quarantine I actually enrolled in an online chinese beginners lesson. So far it’s going better than I expected, though, I’ve to admit I was expecting pronounciation to be easier bc I thought it would be similar to Turkish... Rosé x F!reader

You’re an idol and Blackpink’s Rosé just wanna have fun.

(Italics are for flashback)

“Is there anything going on between you and Sana?”, your group’s leader asked as soon as you stepped out of your room.

You were still sleepy and didn’t understand the question at first. Ignoring her, you went to the table and prepared a cup of coffee.

“Y/N, I’m asking you a question. The company is going to ask me about this and I want you to know I’m going to do everything in my power to protect you but you gotta be honest with me. Are you dating Sana?”

Your jaw dropped. Dating Sana?! Where did that come from?!

“Wh-what do you mean?”, you asked, feeling completely awake.

She handed you her phone with an article written about you two. It showed different pictures of you two in your car arriving at her place past midnight and parked in many spots in the city. It was always you two with caps on to avoid being noticed which clearly didn't work out.

You sighed.

"This isn't how this was supposed to happen," you said, not meeting her gaze. "You got a minute so I can tell you about it?".

She nodded and sat down with you. The other members were still asleep.

"It all began almost a month ago…"

The promotions for your latest album had already begun. You were backstage waiting for your turn to have your makeup done. These were the moments you didn’t like much since it was just you and your thoughts. And your thoughts would always lead you to the same person.

It had been a little over a month since the last time you saw Rosé. Her last text said she didn’t want to lose you yet she never tried to reach you again. At that point you decided you had to love yourself first and step out of that toxicity.

“Is that why you never answered?”

You gulped. Even knowing she was in the same studio, you would have never guessed she would have looked for you.

“Not even a goodbye?”, you heard her voice quivering.

You turned around to find Rosé with tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

Never once in the time you were together had you seen her cry. And you felt weak seeing her like that. You didn’t want to be the reason for those tears.

“No…” you whispered, not knowing what to say.

She took a couple of steps towards you. You had missed her features that close.

“We never really got to talk about what happened the last time we saw each other…”, she lifted her gaze to look directly at your eyes. “You never answered and I didn’t get the chance to say it…”

You felt you were about to cry.

“And I know it is not fair to come here when you’re clearly better off without me, but I want you to know…” she said as a tear finally fell down, “I love you too”.

You fixed your gaze on the ground. It all felt surreal.

“I just hope you’re happy. I hope she makes you happy the way I couldn’t…”

“No,” you whispered again, “it’s not like that, Rosé, I…”, you gulped. You didn’t know what to say. Having her this close after a long time, it almost felt like you were intoxicated.

“Then what is it?”

You cupped her face. She flinched but relaxed immediately under your touch. How had you missed her.

“I’m really sorry to interrupt,” someone said from the door.

You took a step back immediately when you heard that voice.

“The producers are asking for us on stage,” Lisa said, “we gotta go”.

Rosé chuckled sadly at your puzzled expression. “She knows all about us. The others too”. She took a couple steps back. “I know it’s late, but you are a story worth telling”.

You felt a pang on your heart.

“I just wished I realized sooner…”

Once they left, you looked at your own reflection in the mirror. You were confused. Deep down you knew it was her all along. She was the one that made your heart feel the way it did.

“Y/N?”, your leader asked as she stepped into the room, “I brought manager nim so you can tell her what you told me this morning. She’s going to help you when you have to go talk to the CEO tomorrow”.

You nodded. The manager took a seat beside you.

“First of all, I want to say sorry if I’m compromising the group’s image, but I hope we find a way we can work things out”, you said. “It began almost a month ago…”

"Are you sure about this?", you asked, your eyes fixed on the road.

Silence.

“Sana?”

You heard her gulp.

“We’re fine,” she simply answered, placing her hand on yours.

You were trying to get all the green lights so the car would keep moving and if there were any photographers out there, they wouldn’t get a good picture of what was happening inside the car.

Until a red light made you stop.

You heard her chuckle.

“Look at you,” she said, smiling, “following all rules even if we get caught. I respect that, Y/N”

You smiled and ruffled her hair. It was only two blocks until her place.

When you got to their parking lot, you stopped the car and simply said, “we’re here!”.

“Thank you,” a guy folded in the backseat answered while sitting up and fixing his clothes.

Sana chuckled.

“Man, you owe us big time. This is the fourth time we’re crossing the city at this time for you to meet up with Jihyo like this.”

“Pretty sure people have already seen Y/N entering this parking lot a few times,” Sana remarked. “They’re gonna think she’s the one dating Jihyo”.

Daniel laughed. “They don’t know I’m here and they don’t know it’s for her,” he said smiling, “but seriously, I owe you girls a lot. I promise I will pay you back as soon as we can make the relationship public. For now, please keep helping us”.

You nodded and he stepped out of the car.

“Thanks for helping Jihyo like this. I know you don’t know her long enough, but you were the only person who could help us”. Sana said.

“No worries,” you answered, “you girls have welcomed me here as this was my own home. It feels correct to help you as much as I can”.

Sana patted your hair. “Who would have thought under that bad ass facade there was a puppy heart”.

You both laughed and she stepped out of the car.

“Thank you, Y/N. See you next time the lovebirds need a ride.”

Queen live at Knebworth Park in Stevenage, UK - August 9, 1986 (Part-1)

This is the final Queen concert ever with the lineup of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon. The band went out in style, playing for an estimated 120,000 fans (some sources claim it was as high as 200,000). At the time, it was the largest single paying audience for a UK rock concert in over ten years. Thousands of fans camped outside the park gates the night before.

This last date was added after the Wembley Stadium shows in July had sold out so quickly, (Brian later said how the band could have probably done 5 or 6 nights at Wembley). In fact, the promoter, Harvey Goldsmith, had already booked the park anyway, as he was sure the extra show would be necessary, and Wembley wasn't available for more dates.

New wave artist Belouis Some opened the festivities, followed by Status Quo and Big Country. The biggest of the three opening acts, Status Quo played before Big Country because they had to leave early for another gig in Germany. They were planning to set a world record by playing three gigs in three countries on a single day.

A bottle fight began in the audience early in the day, and plenty of bottles were being thrown at Belouis Some throughout their set - one of their backing singers held what looked like a washing bowl over her head for protection. Goldsmith came on at one point pleading with the crowd to calm down. Thousands of bottles were thrown around throughout the day.

During Quo's set, one of their roadies stood in front of the Starvision screen with a big cardboard guitar. When told about it afterward, the band said how they thought the audience's reaction was for them! The roadie was promptly terminated after his 15 seconds of fame.

Between acts, various videos were shown on the big screen, including many Thin Lizzy videos (with whom Queen had toured in 1977), as singer/bassist Phil Lynott had passed away earlier in the year. They also spun Dire Straits' latest record "Brothers in Arms" in its entirety.

Queen flew into the park on a helicopter during Quo's set.

As reported by many audience members, Big Country played a great set. By the fourth encore number, however, an angry-looking Harvey Goldsmith repeatedly pointed at his wrist at the side of the stage. Around this point, someone in the audience threw a two-litre bottle (containing a liquid which probably doesn't need to be named) at the singer, Stuart Adamson, which he successfully dodged.

Freddie sounds very strong throughout the show, and there is a lot of classic banter with the audience:

After the second song, he immediately speaks in response to the overwhelming ticket sales that necessitated this huge concert. "Hello! This is what you wanted, this is what you're gonna get! Is everybody okay, having a nice day? Yeah, not too bad, huh? Now you gotta put up with us."

After A Kind Of Magic, he happily points out, "This is an enormous place, even by our standards, I tell you. It looks beautiful from up here! It's frightening, I tell you. It looks beautiful." After the vocal duel with the audience, he says, "You fuckers are good, I tell you. I'll get you after a couple of songs, you wait. You're on!" Then after the first chorus of Another One Bites The Dust where he invites them to sing along, he remarks, "I told you I was gonna get ya!"

Before Another One Bites The Dust, he says, "This next song calls for a boogie, I mean... it means I throw my cunt around the stage even more than I've done." After the vocal improv in the middle section, John plays a couple funky bass riffs, and playing off him, Brian throws in some equally funky riffs, reminiscent of "Fun It" from the Jazz album. Some fans consider this to be the best version of the song ever performed by the band.

After Dust, Freddie says, somewhat seriously, "I think most of you know that this is the last stop on our tour." Then more informally, "You know that, don't you? And such a beautiful way to end it. I mean, look at the lot of you. I might also add that this has been the best European tour for us, thanks to all you fuckers out there. And earlier on there were rumours of us splitting up, but, I mean... fuck 'em. I mean really, look at this!" he says as he smiles, once again referring to the size of the audience. "How can you split up when you have an audience like this? I mean, really. We're not that stupid!"

Roger plays with much enthusiasm throughout, particularly during the impromptu. Freddie even shouts "Nice one!" in reaction to his drum solo in its finale. Roger later recalled this to be a very fun show, and one of his favourites of Queen's career.

Before Love Of My Life, Brian says this tour is "The biggest and best thing that ever happened to us." The show's brief serious portion begins with Brian's introduction of Is This The World We Created. "About a year and a half ago" [ed. it was well over two years, actually], "which is before Live Aid and all that stuff, we saw some stuff on television which disturbed us a lot, and very late one night in Munich we sat down and wrote what we thought about it, and this is it." The video of the last performance of this touching ballad can be seen on the "Champions Of The World" documentary.

Freddie, with his Telecaster on before Crazy Little Thing Called Love, doesn't even need to introduce the song anymore, as a fair portion of the audience know what's next: "Okay, this only means one thing." Brian enters in the third verse on his Telecaster as usual, but it's letting out an awful lot of noise (an audience member recalls Brian breaking a string). He makes the quick decision to switch to the Red Special for the solo, and gets there just in time.

John Deacon uncharacteristically tosses his Fender Precision bass away immediately following Radio Ga Ga, as seen in pic 18. This can also be seen on the official Rare Live video. He hit the other basses on their stands in front of the amps, knocking them all over. The roadies then took them off stage, presumably to check for damage and retune them before the second encore. John ultimately doesn't cause any significant damage to his P-bass, as he uses it for the final three songs.

"Thank You, beautiful people. You've been a tremendous... you've been a really special audience. Thank you very much. Good night, sweet dreams, we love you," are Freddie's closing words, after which he and the boys leave the stage for the last time.

As people were leaving, an employee suddenly turned off all of the lights in the park (and ended up getting fired for it, as the intention was just to cut the power to the stage in case Queen wanted to play a third encore after the venue's curfew), forcing an audience of this size to find their way out in pitch darkness.

A baby was born in the audience at some point in the evening, but someone was killed as well. A fan climbed a lighting tower to get a better view, but fell onto someone who was none too pleased and subsequently stabbed him. St. John's Ambulance was called, but their fight through the crowd took too long and the victim died. Upon learning about the fan's death, Freddie Mercury was recorded saying, "If people have to die because they wanna see us, I'll never perform live again." This is yet another haunting comment from the year, furthermore suggesting that Freddie knew he was ill at this point.

Would the image of a womanizer not damage the image of 1D?

If they’d portrait him as a sleeze it would have surely damaged the overal image of 1D. But Harrys image portrait him as charming, a bit quirky and overall an airhead that likes people and doesn’t want to be tied down. Thus giving the illusion of being potentially available to every woman and showing them a good, no strings attached, time. Which is a massive selling point for boybands to increase the age range of their fans.

In addition, all his conquests would be used to stir up drama or simply generate attention at crucial times to get 1D in the press without mentioning their current promo focus in every headline.

The winter girlfriends had a special role as they were the only ones actively worked as continuous dating. To build some attachment, have a continuous storyline that could be tied to the just released album and bridge the holiday pause, and when the relationship ended generate more drama to be used for promo.

Harry did keep on using his womanizer image to promote both his solo albums but in a very controlled manner. The numbers of new woman linked to him declined to 1 in 2019, for now we are at 0 (1) in 2020

PEOPLE GOTTA KNOW WHEN ITS THERE TIME

If you haven’t heard the following name I’m about to mention, you must be under a rock next to Patrick Star. Yeah you know who I’m talking about, that boy Pooh Shiesty! Wooo that boy know he on fire. The latest star discovered by ATL legend, Gucci Mane, Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty been building a hell of a buzz leading up to his debut project, Shiesty Season. His album was number one on Apple Music before it was even released! Only 21 years, Pooh Shiesty is setting a path of greatness for himself as the next great southern rapper.

Pooh Shiesty is receiving all the attention he deserves but some people may disagree. Recently, Pooh Shiesty posted a young lady’s tweet that suggested Gucci Mane was showing favoritism towards Pooh Shiesty and was being neglectful to his other shining signee, Foogiano. Which brings me to my point, people gotta know when its there time!

When someone has the hot hand you have to feed them! Just like when a shooter is on a streak in basketball, you have to keep feeding him until he’s no longer hot. People particularly fans have to understand a little bit more how a successful label works, especially while someone like Gucci Mane is at the helm.

Every artist has a marketing plan. That plan includes but isn’t limited to: building buzz for the music, when it will be released, how it will be released, the finances needed to pull off the project successfully, etc.

When it comes to Pooh Shiesty, simply put its just divine timing. He’s been killing it, I knew the boy was the one when I first heard “Who is Him” a track by him and Gucci Mane. “1017 choppa gang we don’t do no attempts, hop out and slam him with this choppa like I’m shawn kemp”, when I first heard that I knew he was outta here. Pooh had great performances on both So Icy compilations plus the loosies with BIG30, he had all the buzz he needed that would make his project number one before its even released.

Guwop isn’t showing favoritism he’s putting wind behind an artist that’s been ready for takeoff. Gucci gifting Pooh Shiesty with a trackhawk Jeep (super fire btw) is just a manifestation of a reward for hardwork. Then to make this young lady’s point even more asinine, Foogiano currently has Pooh Shiesty’s project as his avi.

When someone in the crew is on fire, it is an obligation for everyone to get behind that person full throttle! If someone feels a way about a crew member getting shine, that person is effectively known as a HAM!!!

To bring things more locally, take me and my family for example. Right now my cousin, 2Real Codee, is scorching right now. A lot of our family does music, if any one of us felt a type of way about the shine my cousin is receiving then we would be effectively known as…..HAMS!!! Good thing we’re not, we’re doing the exact opposite, putting all of our energy behind cuz to help elevate him and keep his foot on the neck. That energy is reciprocated when its time for any of us to drop. When I dropped LONG MAY HE REIGN, it had the upmost support, its my most successful project yet. And anytime my cuz (WAV) is rising in. the ranks of producers we elevate and promote him. Whenever my brother drop we will be behind him as well.

So everybody gotta chill and quit being lames trying to cause dissension between successful crews. Showing love is not automatically favoritism its just appreciation that is well deserved.

Bandcamp Friday August 2021! Plans?

Time to waste money! Or is it really wasting, when I get joy from listening and supporting artists?

Tomrrow 6th of August, unitcode:machine releases new album "Themes for a Collapsing Empires"

unitcode:machine has been one fo the newer discoveries I've made during the pandemic. Mixing industrial, EBM and futurepop, they have bit of a mid 2000's sound. Eric's vocals are nice, aggressive when needed and pleasant enough sounding clears. Also I found another artist by browsing artist's social media, Chiasm!

Chiasm features on one unitcode:machine's album's song. So decided to check what she is made of. Quite a veteran on the scene! I've listened her latest album "Missed the Noise" quite a bit recently, so maybe it's time to give her some money. It's quite pleasant sounding music, with darker edge. Chiasm also has quite nice voice.

Elezoria I found through stumbling upon Russian music label SkyQode, that focuses on promoting synth music artits, mostly Europeans. Although I found unitcode:machine through them also and they are from US.

Elezoria does very moody synth music, with booming vocals. I quite like it. Especially on dark evenings, although sunny summer nights haven't stopped me from enjoying it.

Upcoming single "Desolation" doesn't sound not quite promising as previous "Breeze of Innocence", but maybe it surprises? Gotta listen it first before buying. I wonder when Elezoria comes out with new album?

“This is Heaven” by Nick Jonas

Music and marketing have been intertwined longer than I can track; back in 2014 I was arguing “music is a vehicle for the performer” about some dumb Drake song because every so often someone decides this is a bad thing. So I want to be clear that “This is Heaven” isn’t doing anything new, but it is doing something that feels accelerated, or maybe intensified, or both, in our current era. Nick Jonas is married, all The Jonases are now. And their partners are celebrities in their own right, whether independently or because marrying a Jonas brother simply means you exist in the spotlight as soon as you enter their proximity. And in that rarefied ecosystem, “This is Heaven” functions as brand management, just as its predecessor “Spaceman” did. The latter was a downtempo, thoughtful piece that framed its “it’ll change if we vote” and “mask off soon as I get home” lyrics with enough ambiguity that they could apply to any situation - current, future, or metaphorical.

“This is Heaven” is much less ambiguous: it’s about Nick and Priyanka. It’s a song designed for a People Magazine feature about their relationship, that follows from a People Magazine news item on Nick and Priyanka’s latest vacation, and that sets up a People Magazine half page on a recipe they’ve been loving recently. This is music designed for the middle of a wedding reception; effectively, it’s a solo rewrite of last year’s “What’s a Man Gotta Do”, another song about being happily, bouncily, comfortably in love. And to be clear, there are worse goals for an artist to aim for as they near two decades in the spotlight! Adam Levine’s going more rancid by the day; if we could collectively agree to replace him with the collective Jonases I’d vote yes in an instant. But instead “This is Heaven” failed to even chart in the US - your grandparents will never recognize it, your parents will use this song to refill their drinks. So the question is, what does it mean to perform brand management that no one connects to your brand? When your SNL performance fails to make any mark on the collective consciousness, when your repeated attempts to stir up entertainment press fall flat? I mean maybe it’s just that producer Greg Kurstin (Sia; Adele; so many others) is losing his touch. Or maybe it means pop songs and pop stars are coming unstuck from each other, in ways I can’t quite put my finger on yet.

Unfortunately, I think Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello brand managed to more attention in 2021 and that’s all I have to say about them. It’s a genuine shame that “This Is Heaven” didn’t get a warmer reception (I guess here is where I’ll confess that I haven’t listened to Nick Jonas’s album and didn’t need to in order to get the idea that it was all about his marriage. It’s all either of them have promoted since hooking up.) because it’s warm and well-crafted and because the fact that we still have celebrity culture in the middle of a pandemic means that we’ve run out of real estate wherein to complain about the Chopra-Jonases ceaseless need for attention. Plus, he’s churning out classic J. Crew sweaters here! We better start appreciating these sweaters in a timely, capitalist fashion or the manufacturers will be forced to cut costs and churn out half-plastic garbage sweaters assembled by slave labor, or wherever this metaphor ends. We don’t, in fact, owe Nick Jonas anything -- by desiring to make music at all he should desire to make good music -- regardless, I do appreciate that desire and reality aligned, as they so rarely do.

HYBE needs new stylists... Whatever is going on with ENHYPEN and TXT’s latest comebacks.... make it stop.

Tamed-Dashed is a weird ass title that neither means anything nor rolls off the tongue easily. Given-Taken and Drunk-Dazed have meaning and impact - this one does not. It’s not as catchy either. Also, using the same formula for the title twice is cute, but thrice is a stretch, especially if you struggled so hard that you gave up and settled on ‘Tamed-Dash’.

As for the song itself, while Given-Taken and Drunk-Dazed got me hooked immediately - mainly because of the addictive choruses, but also due to the catchy choreo - Tamed-Dashed isn’t nearly as catchy, and it really feels like HYBE is recycling ideas. The structure of the song is similar (including the title), the choreo might’ve been made by the same choreographer as Drunk-Dazed, the MV is also old-school style... yet Tamed-Dashed is worse in every way - from the styling to the title. I gotta say I don’t like ENHYPEN’s MVs from what I’ve seen...

Haven’t listened to the album, but I don’t think I will. I didn’t like the previous album nor did I like ‘Go Big or Go Home’. ENHYPEN are really that ‘generic’ boy group to me, very 4th gen. HYBE tried to come up with something different for TXT, but tried to nail all the trends with ENHYPEN - which is maybe why they are so successful. I don’t like most gp’s sound, so I’m not very drawn to ENHYPEN... Except for Drunk-Dazed - that song’s a whole bop, still listen to it every day.

EDIT: I did end up listening to DIMENSION: DILEMMA. Apart from the intro - which, as expected, was cool and more ‘experimental’ (didn’t like the voice-overs though) - the rest of the album was way better than I imagined it’d be. It was cooler and ‘grittier’ than previous albums. TXT’s recent punk-rock emo sound found its way to ENHYPEN’s new album, which made Yeonjun’s feature in Blockbuster feel very appropriate. My least favorite tracks were the ones chosen for promotions. Go Big or Go Home is probably the only song I didn’t like. ENHYPEN changed their sound a bit this comeback (ironically most of the album gives me Drunk-Dazed vibes, unlike the previous one), and I liked it - unfortunately, the title and lead tracks aren’t my thing...

Today is the release of 5 Seconds of Summer newest single, Want You Back. It was chosen because they wanted something new to shared to their fans that they’re evolving into new music genre.

As a good friends of them, you promoted their song to your social media platform such as Instagram and Twitter.

You honestly proud of this song, not just because you wrote the lyric, the music is really different from their latest album and it really made them more mature and you love this song so much. No, not really because the lyric really showed you how much you want your ex back and you still kinda have that feeling until today. Not gonna lie move on is really hard.

You were at your place alone because Calum and the boys are somewhere promoting their new song. And you decided to have a live on instagram.

“Hi guys, Saara Palvin here.” You talked to your camera phone. “So I’ve been learning guitar since a year ago and I’m still not being good about it and i have learned some songs actually and i wanna show it to you guys.” You took the guitar and put in on your lap. “The first song I’m going to play is my first ever single in 2016, called Perfect.” And then you started to play guitar and sing.

You called Calum immediately.

“Hi...,” he greeted you awkwardly. “What’s up?”

You chuckled. “What’s up? Where are you guys right now?” You asked him casually.

“We’re in SiriusXM radio to promote our song.” He answered. “We sang Want You Back and we cover The Middle.”

You furrowed your eyebrows. “The Middle as in my song The Middle?”

“Yeah... we think your song is incredible and we covered it.” After he said that his phone was seized away from him.

“We love your song by the way, no kidding, straight fact.” You heard Michael voice. You laughed. “Bro give my phone back.” You could hear Calum’s voice wanted his phone back.

“Sorry, this moron were stealing my phone. I gotta go Bar, see ya soon.” He hung up the call. And now you didn’t know what to do. Got a zero activity. But you decided to stalking your ex Justin because why not? You just have this little curiosity about his life, did he been eating breakfast alone like me?
