IK in Marvel you're nuts for shipping a gay couple unless it's confirmed without a shadow of a doubt onscreen (which is a horrible precedent I think was set when they said Stucky were just friends because let's be real if all that can add up to welp just friends then how can any ship with less than that possibly be legit, right) bUT all that being said the Lokius energy? great. I'm not going to pat Marvel on the back and say this is enough, but I am going to say that for them setting the same-sex heavily-implied love interest next to the opposite-sex are-we-going-to-pretend-this-never-happened love interest and making it unclear if Loki was speaking to one (or both) of them was a pretty big stride forward. They might be coming out of the era of the big neon no-homo, because the Marvel that's been so homophobic in recent years would never have left that door open for considering, would have made sure Mobius was far offscreen when that happened, would have made Sylvie the only important relationship Loki had in the season, would not have put in all the little moments (I direct you to the Don episode: the hair-fixing by Loki, the way Mobius kinda flirts with him the whole time, the way Loki is drawn to Mobius' timeline more than anyone else's, the way the camera focuses on Mobius so close to when Loki is having his "WHO" epiphany, etc.; not to mention the ways they reach out to each other throughout the season, just a little intimate touch here and there, a hand on an arm, an arm around a waist; the fact that when Loki timeslipped back he looked to where Mobius was first, the way he went to Mobius for advice when he was completely out of options, the way he and Mobius trust each other to use torture boxes and help decide the fate of the multiverse, the way they, together, were a focal point of the season, that they were a unit of two, that they were so loath to be separated). In media as a whole, is this big? Not really. For Marvel specifically, in its own little pocket context? Big step. Immense. I really want to believe maybe they're opening the door for us and we just jam our foot in the gap hard enough they'll get the message that we're a fanbase to be reckoned with and that maybe they do want to spend the effort on us after all. I love Marvel. It was an important part of my childhood and I keep watching it now even though it's kind of a mixed bag. I want to be a part of it. I want the Lokius fanbase and the Sambucky fanbase to win where the Stucky fanbase was shut down. Those little moments were intentional and beautiful and I'm incredibly happy they exist. I want them to lead to something more.

Summary: Sam and Bucky meet at summer camp. They make a pact that when they’re forty, if they're still single, they’ll marry each other. Twenty-six years later, they meet again and they’re both single. So what’s stopping them? Except that they don’t really know each other anymore.

Excerpt:

It’s the summer of ‘92. The heat curdles outside the camp cabins in humid Louisiana. Sam’s sitting on a twin-sized bunk bed, legs crossed, opposite from the only other boy who feels the way he does. Bucky. They both like boys but they’re too afraid to tell anyone else.

They found out by accident when Bucky found a picture of James Dean under Sam’s mattress. Sam hadn’t hidden it well enough and Bucky saw the edge of the photo sticking out and plucked it right out.

Sam had frozen in place, face drained except for sheer terror of how he was going to react. But Bucky climbed up the wooden ladder to his bunk and dropped a handful of magazine clippings into Sam’s hands. They were all shirtless male models posing on the beach. Sam’s eyes went wide.

This night, the rest of the boys snuck out to go swimming in the lake. Sam and Bucky stayed behind claiming they both ate something bad that day. Really, they felt fine. More than fine now that they were staring into each other eyes. Knees touching from the pretzel-style position they’re both in.

Bucky smirks, a devilish smirk that Sam knows well.

“What?” Sam grins.

“I got an idea.”

“What’s that?”

“What if when we’re forty — if we got no one else — we marry each other?”

Sam narrows his eyes, his smile faltering.

“What if gay marriage ain’t legal, even then?”

Bucky frowns for a moment too but then he shrugs.

“Then we’ll just be together,” he says, the smile blooming back on his face. “For the rest of our lives.”

Help, i fell down a Marvel rabbit hole.

So the Endgame dilemma with Steve's decision had me thinking about other 'happy places' for Bucky and of course there's the obvious with Sam after TFWS but can we just for a minute think about Bucky maybe refreshing something nice from his time in recovery in Wakanda?

I found not a lot of fics but the thought of Bucky getting back there and kinda warming up with M'Baku again? This pairing just has something to me, especially with the whole grumpy but secretly subby White Wolf meets sarcastic domineering great Gorilla M'Baku...

Why would I help, lmao? I'm at the bottom of a very similar hole. The more the marrier! Welcome to the trash pile 💀💀

All good options, all good options, but I will say, anon, I welcome you to fully embrace the exhilarating option of: completely ignoring the events of Endgame.

As captivating as the idea of subby white wolf and domineering gorilla M'Baku is 😮‍💨... as much as I love all the ship content that has come out of Sebastian's and Mackie's banter as Bucky and Sam... I am weak for stucky. It's 🤌🏻everything about them🤌🏻 The childhood best friends to lovers, the wartime sweethearts, the going against the whole world for each other, the dying for each other, the living for each other.

Okay, so I'm laying my cards fully on the table to say that I hate Endgame, explaining why I like to ignore it. And with that being said, here are some anti-Endgame (some of them also straight up anti-steggy/anti-peggy) related metas that I find thought-provoking that I think you might, too. They're just to kick around the idea if you're interested in a different perspective that comes from what I see as deeper in the fandom (idk how true that is,though, lol)--something you might not have come across yet if you're new to this rabbit hole. YES, SAMBUCKY IS A GREAT COUPLE ❤️

Yes, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes aka Winter Soldier / White Wolf and Samuel "Sam" Wilson aka Falcon / Captain America are meant to be together. Bother are hot, kind, funny, brave, strong, generous...

They are the reason why I watched the Disney+ series FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER even though some moments were not very well written (especially Falcon, who still became an interesting character there).

When I see pics of them I don't know if I want to be their slave or see them happy in love! Look at the first picture, you can see their asses that are so delicious and that I dream to eat because they deserves asslickers. And in the second picture I want to kneel on the ground, lick their shoes, massage their feet...

What is the most important to remember with this couple is that Sam and Bucky complete each other. They both have differents background and personality. I will not talk again about why I disagree with Mister Anthony Mackie who thinks that fans shouldn't consider Sam and Bucky in love.

I am a gay whiteboy, I love black men (white men too, of course, but I just have this raceplay fantasy and also this love for the interracial contrast) so of course I am attracted to Sam Wilson being in love with Steve Rogers or Bucky Barnes. I am also attracted to being their boyfriends individually, and I love their comics version too (to be honest I became attracted to Sam Wilson thanks to his comics counterpart).

I love these two characters and the actors who play them. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are both sexy and funny and have great chemistry, they're good friends and they're aware that fans ship them off as a couple.

Even though Anthony Mackie said that Sam Wilson wasn't supposed to be in a relationship with Bucky Barnes, we fans and authors are allowed to write about it. He cannot prevent us from imagining them as a couple.

I never said I wouldn't watch the CAPTAIN AMERICA 4 and THUNDERBOLT movies just because Sam and Bucky aren't a couple. I accept that they can't be lovers in the MCU. But that's what fanfics are there for: to dream up and create alternate universes where it would have happened. 😉 And they are so cute together!

These two actors are hot, funny, nice, are very good friends in real life (you can easily find many compilations of their funny moments together on YouTube).

Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie would be a great couple if they were together . Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if they were in love. Who knows their lovers 🙄?

Even though I imagined myself being the fag (this is why I reminded at the beginning of the article that I want to love Bucky / Sam / Steve and at the same time I want to obey them for how manly they are compared to me), I made this story very romantic. 💕

This story is really important to me, surely in my TOP 5 of the stories I wrote, because I really imagined myself as the character, I described him as I'm supposed to be and the plot is inspired by something I experienced. Maybe the fact that it's too related to my personal life explain why not a lot of people liked this story. The story tell what it would have been if Sam Wilson as Captain America felt in love with me at Avengers Campus. 😍

That would make me really happy if this story received more ❤️ and comments 🙏. Sam Wilson is one of my favorite masculine characters from Marvel comics, and he is becoming amongst my favorite male characters in MCU, but what's sure is that I find him really exciting as Captain America.

This story is the only one where he is Captain America but obviously if I had to write a SamBucky story I would make him Captain (and may I reminds you that Bucky has also been Captain America in the comics).

Reasons why I hate the “If you get queerbaited by the MCU it’s on you” line

1) It erases/ ignores the fact that there are already 2 canon Gay characters in the MCU one main character (Phastos) and one side character (his husband Ben). People like to use the argument that people are delusional because “it will never happen” but it already happened, even though people tend to forget about Phastos a lot.

2) It minimizes the word queerbaiting. No one seems to know to know the proper definition of that word anyway. What Disney did in Avengers: Endgame was indeed queerbaiting: they made a lot of publicity about having the first canon Gay character and in the end, it was a blink if you miss it scene. The other 2 instances, were not queerbaiting but more like censorship: In Thor Love and Thunder, an explicitly F/F scene was deleted, same happened in Black Panther.

So saying people are stupid for expecting these scenes, when those scenes have been shot and exist is surprising to me. Queerbaiting is a serious issue and I personally think it’s unfair to put the blame on the fans instead of the big company execs ( even though a lot of fans deserve it lol).

3) It removes accountability from the company and shifts it to the fans. I hate shippers who use the word queerbaiting casually (no Stucky wasn’t queerbaiting, go read the definition, Sambucky wasn’t queerbaiting either, go read the definition one more time), but it doesnt mean that we shouldn’t push for MCU projects to have more diversity. MCU projects make up such a big part in box office number that you can’t just stop asking for more representation just because “ it will never happen”.

4) It implies that everybody on earth has Tumblr😂😂😂... To say that people who believe the queerbait from Marvel are to blame, implies that people are supposed to know that the MCU would never deliver and never have Queer characters in their movies/shows. But to know that, you need to be on social media a lot. A random person seeing an article about how the next MCU project will feature an LGBTQ+ character will believe that article, because they have no reason not too. So it’s not on them. And its still queerbaiting, because they’ll watch the movie in hopes of seeing representation that’ll never come (and Marvel will still get the money without following through).

Yes, shippers are annoying. Yes, shipping see 2 conventionally attractive men staring at each other for more than 3 seconds and will cry about it being queerbaiting without even thinking about the meaning of that word. But if we’re having a serious conversation about queerbaiting, the blame shouldn’t be put on them, because the underlying message is that things will never change and we shouldn’t expect them to, and that’s just unacceptable for a company that rakes billions at the box office on a yearly basis.

ok so in terms of like canon stuff i feel like riley and sam had the closest thing u could to a meet cute in the literal army and i see their relationship as like very similar to daveklaus??? i think it definitely like in precatws i see them as meeting on base, maybe even not knowing each other before they got assigned to the project and got their wings etc

there’s a lot of potential for a slow burn there even as just a platonic relationship and tbh given the popularity of media like 1917, dunkirk, top gun, and that rn (which….. the modern stuff is more HMMMM but i mean the interest is there???) n marvels propaganda deal with the us military i don’t know WHY they HAVENT greenlit some sort of d+ mini series giving us a samriley prequel ??? at least a short 😭 but idk maybe they’ll actually give us some sams past crumbs in cap 4?????

in aus though i like to hc riley and sam as having the same hometown, i love the idea of riley being a quintessential southern boy with the drawl and the slang, i also heavily borrow from just say you do’s version of riley in which he has a dry sense of humor and takes no shit just like sam!! i picture him as “sassy” and over the top in the same way as like JVN lol

also i think he and sam have the best fashion sense out of anyone in the group except maybe nat when she’s not dressing super comfy casual (we all know steve and bucky are dead last on that one LMAOOO) bc riley comes from a working class family/started working himself at a really young age and so now he likes to be super deliberate about his sense of style/presentation instead of just whatever he got handed down from neighbors or church donations etc and that was a HUGE part of accepting his sexuality + gender identity (he/they riley u will always be famous)

i also borrow some elements of like adam parrish’s backstory 🤡 in that i see riley’s parents as negligent at best and ab*sive at worst, making the wilsons his sort of pseudo-family/safe space even before he and sam get together whether that’s bc they’re childhood besties in aus or bc they accept sam’s closest comrade into their fold (i cant remember if sam lost his parents before he went into the service so don’t come for me anyone) but yeah like in non canon universes i see their story as highly similar to stevebuckys bc they’re foils duh except ig riley would be closer to comics bucky than mcu bucky w his parents

it’s weird bc i used to exclusively ship stevebucky and then samriley completely separate. since i became open to the idea of multi shipping, i now ship in a different order/way??

like for au’s i still follow the two distinctive ships, meaning if i’m writing stevebucky i’ll usually have established samriley or single sam. however if i’m writing sambucky it’s probably going to be past!samsteve and/or stevebucky as well if not just samstevebucky (the most superior of all ships) 😌 like i might mention riley being sam’s ex before he got together with steve (if i’m including him and steve as a couple and not just friends) or just gets w bucky but the focus is way less on riley’s impact on sam’s dating history than like steve if that makes sense which is just interesting to me?? it’s also a roulette wheel of whether or not i decide to throw in sammisty (my beloved) bc sometimes i like to write bi sam and other times i like to write gay sam

sidenote i see peggy and steve and nat absolutely bi, always, angie as 100% a lesbian, misty and sam as bi4bi, but for sam and bucky i could see them as either bi or gay (although i typically tend to write bucky as either just gay or at most bi-curious but always in relationships with mlm)

i feel like i write more samriley in complete au’s than in canon compliant fics which is odd haha

maybe bc in canon compliant fics, if samriley exists i see them as a monogamous partnership, but if sam is with someone else/poly i typically see it like riley d*ed bc personally i just don’t see them breaking up?? they’re like either that couple u know that’s been together since they were 14 and you never see them without each other OR they’re exactly the same but they actually got married in their early 20s. i say, having explicitly written their divorce before

also idk why but i feel like in my head w poly!sam steve and/or bucky (or misty) are cool w him having paramours and metamours and everything even if they aren’t poly themselves but riley is strictly a one man guy and has no interest in anything outside a monogamous mlm relationship. he’s also demi and a hopeless romantic!

when i write samriley + steve and bucky i see riley as being able to relate to bucky better bc i follow the general fandom hc that riley is also disabled, but he’s somewhat closer w steve bc of sam and bucky’s initial “feud” when riley was still distrustful of bucky and 100% in sam’s corner, meaning he and bucky have a similar dynamic to sam and bucky where they like to banter and antagonize one another but he and steve are more chill and friendly when they talk like he and sam are (although they aren’t above ribbing at each other and referencing embarrassing inside jokes)

Like his characters? Hm... Logan for SURE. He probably went through a TZ phase where he REALLY liked it, probably when he was an older teen.

Benjamin from Gold Digger has seen it and LOVES it.

SamBucky watch Twilight Zone marathons together all the time on the couch. They start off on one end of the couch and end up practically in each other's lap because they, for some reason (reason: gay), feel the need to grab the other whenever there's a plot twist. They also have post episode discussions that very often involve a suddenly thoughtful Bucky asking an "...but if that were, say.... you and me... would you try to help me?" And Sam answers, "I'd save your ass every time, Bucky." And then Bucky swoons a bit cause he knows Sam is telling the truth, he really would save him, god Sam is an angel, how did he get so lucky--And like a few feet away, Steve is sitting there with his snacks like "this is why I stopped having TV night with you guys 😑" and Sam is like, "Come on, Steve, don't be like that, I'd save you too!" And Bucky grumbles a bit because of course Sam would save Steve, Sam is a hero, but damn, "This isn't about you, Steve 😑" and Steve is like "I didn't even say---what???"

Anyway, yeah.... Sambucky watches TZ and sometimes they let Steve watch too. And sometimes Peter, he gives good commentary. Natasha too. But never Wanda.... they don't want to give her any ideas.

Written to fulfill square G3: "This Isn't Payback, Is It?" for All Caps Bingo 2023, Round One, from @allcapsbingo!

Summary: The Cap Quartet is on a mission when Sam and Bucky have to go undercover at a gay bar. Undercover missions sometimes involve making out which sometimes leads to unresolved feelings becoming resolved.

Excerpt:

Sam watches Natasha spread herself over Bucky's broad thighs. She plants herself erotically in the center of his lap letting her hands float above his chest, she cups his jaw. Her movements are slow, calculated, deliberate. She tilts his chin up, tipping his head back. Bucky stares up at her, his mouth dropping every so slightly until finally, their lips meld easily in a seamless and filthy cadence.

And dammit. They look good, they look hot, Sam fumes. He can't take his eyes off them. He wants that. Wants to straddle those muscular thighs, wrap his own legs around the dips of Bucky's waist and just squeeze. Bucky's mouth would part for him too and Sam'd place his thumb over the softness of Bucky's lower lip and drag that ridiculous mouth to him.

"Sam," Steve's voice calls over the comms and luckily tears Sam away from the scene and back to the mission.

The safe house they're staying in is small. The kitchen is the size of a closet, so if two people are in there at the same time they have to step sideways and still, they'll press against each other as they slide across. Which doesn't really help with Sam's growing attraction toward his new ex-assassin teammate. Especially when the man is in the kitchen twelve times a day to feed his super soldier appetite and coffee addiction.

They've just returned from the mission and somehow there's already a pot brewing by the time Sam walks in. Bucky and Natasha are laughing over the minuscule kitchen island. Sam stops at the front door to kick his boots off. His face feels hot and he knows it's the memory of those two swapping tongues from earlier.

Steve walks past Sam and marches to stand before the tiny kitchen.

"Well done, everyone," Steve announces turning so he can look between the snickering duo and Sam, "Flashdrive?"

Steve holds out his hand and Natasha flashes him a wild grin. She slowly dips her hand under the collar of her shirt, into her bra. She pulls out a small device and hands it over to Steve.

Steve averts his eyes, his face beaming red, as he awkwardly tries to smile and then thanks her. Steve quickly rounds the kitchen island to plug the flash drive into a laptop.

"Didn't know there was so much making out required for a flash drive," Sam jests, sauntering over to the kitchen space.

"Did it turn you on, Sam?" Natasha teases.

and i wonder if they shied away from all that because of the fervor of the shippers. / yes, and you could tell after a while Seb and Chris were uncomfortable around each other because they knew every single interaction would be overanalyzed by fans. The same thing happened with Mackie where he was cancelled and called homophobic for saying Sambucky is platonic and not every healthy male friendship needs to be gay. But these people are hypocrites because you will never see them giving this much energy to Ben and Phastos who are canonically married and have a child but they cry about making stucky canon. It's not about representation, it's about them indulging their weird sexual fantasies about seeing two hot men fuck, which is fine but like keep that to the fandom spaces and don't bother the real life human actors about it.

Sam Wilson is more interesting to me than Steve Rogers, but their friendship is great!

I am glad that they are both Captains America and that they explores different things in the comics about their role / duty.

You may know i already wrote many stories about Steve Rogers / Captain America and Sam Wilson being in a gay interracial couple

You will find with this link about SamBucky (another amazing gay interracial pairing) other links of stories about Steve and Sam.

In these stories, Sam Wilson / Falcon and Steve Rogers are in love, but i also wrote stories about Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers where they aren't in love with each other. 😉

However, i agree it seems interesting to do a raceplay story between them.

Seeing the cocky Steve Rogers being the slave of a a black man 😂 that would be funny if i am inspired by a racist version of Captain America like here (in this video).

You can see Captain America being stuck with his 1940's mentality, as someone who considers Black men as his servants, Asian men as inferior spies, and women as objects.

Of course everyone wasn't like that, and this video is to show (amongst other things) how the world evolved. Or that white man is a loser and he must be put at his place 🤣

The thing is that Steve Rogers is someone who never been strong at the beginning. He has been bullied and was weak and poor. He doesn't deserves to be enslaved (by anyone). In fact, your request depends on which version we take (it could be an alternate version, and after all, he even becomes a nazi at one moment during an a comic plot).

I am not saying your idea isn't good, but the problem is that Steve Rogers isn't a white privileged boi : he is poor, ugly, orphan, beaten by his dad when this one was alive, bullied all his life, never been loved until he was someone tall, strong and attractive...

So it's not as if it was humiliating to take him his power, and Steve himself gave the shield to Samuel Wilson because this one was worthy of it (not only their friendship or his skills or because he deserved it, but because he would make a good new Captain America)

It could also be a story where Jonathan "John" Walker / US Agent is a cliché of a white supremacist and Sam Wilson beat him to make him his slave to show black superiority! That would put him at his place!

Imagine a racist white man leashed on the ground while Sam Wilson lives his best life!

Or it could even be John Walker / US Agent being submitted by his own friend Battlestar, tired of being his black sidekick. The problem is that they are supposed to be friends (in the Disney+series FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER too) so maybe it could be where Black people have power and it's decided that US Agent will now be the sidekick of his own former black sidekick!

However, i started to write a gay interracial MCU and my dear friend @blacksuperiority and I wanted to imagine what would have happened if Sam Wilson had always been Captain America or if he was Captain America after Steve Rogers's disparition.

I wanted to write a love story that may be closer to what you wanted : what if Steve Rogers stayed skinny and weak, small and submissive, and become the sissy lover whiteboy of the tall and strong Sam Wilson? 😍 As a skinny sissy whiteboi, I'm inspired by the love between him and a tall black man!

EXTRACT of my future story about unserumed Steve Rogers being in love with Samuel "Sam" Wilson as Captain America

Steve Rogers was preparing his gouaches and brushes when suddenly the arrival of the man who was going to be the model of the day was announced. We opened wide the windows of the workshop. Skinny Steve Rogers and his fellow art students heard a faint noise that gradually grew louder.

Then, a gust blew up a few sheets of paper, and cheers broke out, as Captain America flew across the ceiling of the art school's drawing room. Its red wings contrasted with the white walls of the school of arts.

The one who was the most impressed was obviously Steve Rogers. A few days earlier, the handsome and strong Captain America had saved his life!

Once Captain America was on the ground, the drawing teacher introduced him to the students, all of whom were in awe of this tall, handsome, muscular black man. The professor announced that Captain America had agreed to be a model for the day and that the assignment for the day would be to draw his muscles in order to learn human anatomy and proportions. What a joy it was to have to admire the body of a handsome, strong black man who had saved America! The shy Steve Rogers looked discreetly at Sam Wilson / Captain America, and this one smiled at him. What a great smile !

Today, he wasn't ashamed to admit he wanted and needed to be saved, and was honored that it was by a handsome, muscular black man who looked down on him fondly.

After Captain America saved him from the bullies who were bullying him, Steve Rogers realized that his head barely came below Samuel Wilson's chest. This one was two or three heads taller than him. And yet, that hadn't bothered Sam who had immediately fallen in love with the fragile but delicate Steve Rogers.

Samuel Wilson / Captain America wanted to protect Steve, to love him... This was the only reason why he had generously offered to serve as a model for students at an art school: to finally see the boy whom he already loved more than anything.
