it wasn’t the best of circumstances. no. the day you were bathed in white, promised to a man, and walked down the aisle by your father to be given to the hands of your husband was one you spent in mourning, swallowed by grief. “i bet you’re so excited, yeah?” the makeup artist asked, brushing a pearly shade of pinkish red onto your lips. she had a soft genuine smile as she asked, surfacing you into reality from the fogginess in your head. you nod, once, “yes, i am.” you lie in an attempt to make conversation easy. most of the guests that day knew of the arrangement, but other’s hadn’t a clue - which made appearances dire to keep up with. part of you was pleased to move onto a new chapter in your life if it meant moving on from life with your parents. but the other part reminded you that you were going into a new marriage completely blind to the man you’d call your husband. you met him one singular time before changing your last name, the entirety of it was spent with your parents talking to his own - glances you cast in his direction, if only to study the face of the man you hoped to love one day.
his jaw was set coldly, eyes focused on the conversation shared between your parents. he was handsome but just stone. was anything there? you would wonder. is there a man beneath that face? the bone beneath his skin rippled in tender structure, ears pierced, nose rounded, and a heart-like shape to his mouth. while there was no longer hope to hold out for, you scrounged up a bit more in the depths of your chest in desire to love him one day. truly love him. and to be loved in return.
two months into your marriage and you still feel the brick wall dividing you from your husband. it wasn’t exhausting all the time, no. you saw him smile; a few times actually. sometimes you think of it when going to sleep. you hadn’t heard him truly laugh, but you still maintained that same hope from the first time you ever saw him that one day you’d be the reason for him to. your new routine as husband and wife took a minute to settle into; with chan slowly rising to ranks of his family’s company and your own growth in the business of your own. your days were spent at home in your office working from home, a lot of calls into business meetings that you kept your mic muted for, and phone calls to overseas clientele for holiday season.
chan would wake in the morning and rise from your shared bed quick to get ready for work, leaving you to fix coffee and shrug on a robe in the cold of your home (winters weren’t kind in the mornings) when he’d leave, you’d have a cup ready for him, cream and a sugar cube. “thank you, have a good day.” he’d wish, already halfway out the door with a small tired smile on his face. “you’re welcome, you too,” you’d say, scrolling through your phone as the door would shut.
he’d take little notice to your attempts at growing your relationship, and you hadn’t had the time to bring it up to him yet that you wanted to try to have a wonderful marriage. you’d step into the living room wearing a new dress for a banquet for the company, smile a bit wider and brighter than usual - he’d look up from the couch, phone still in hand and would give you a thin lipped smile. “you look nice.” you’d rent a movie, one he’d said he’d wanted to watch soon, and welcome him home with drinks by the couch and he’d brush it off, “ah, sorry. i have a company thing tonight. tomorrow maybe?” of course, he’d forget the next day anyway so it would all be for nothing. when he’d come home extra late and you’d be in bed, buddled in pjs in the comforter with a book and the lamp on next to you, you’d muster your best smile and set your book down. “hey, how was work?” he’d sigh, pulling the tie from his neck. “nothing new really.”
and then you’d beg yourself, beg yourself, to just answer the question of why were you in love with him?
maybe it was for all the times you’d get to see him smile, the chuckles as you’d watch a movie, the thank you’s for cooking, and everything in between. maybe you loved him for the way he stumbled into the kitchen almost late for work, his hair a bit messy and his tie disoriented and you stopped him - “wait,” you put a hand up, walking up to him to fix his tie. it was the closest you’d ever been to him besides the day you’d gotten married, you could feel the warmth radiating from his skin. “sorry, my hands are cold.” your voice still laced with sleep as you straightened his tie and flattened his hair. “i-it’s okay.” he assured, clearing his throat. “eat some on your way to work, coffee’s on the counter. have a good day, okay?” you push a few pieces of toast wrapped in a napkin into his hands, pointing to his coffee before turning back to the stove. “r-right. thank you, have a good day.”
that was pretty cute. you even for a moment thought there’d be hope for you, as his cheeks flushed pink when you started working on his tie. sitting at your desk in your office you’d smile at the thought before catching yourself and smacking your own cheeks.
but time was catching up with you, and the unbearable ache of loving him was almost too much for your heart to handle. you at least needed to know if he felt the same or if he ever could - but in the following days after your realization, you proved yourself right. there was no way. no way this could work out. a steady stream of emotion was constantly running through you; you couldn’t focus on work, you couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat - and you wondered if he even noticed. you were growing increasingly frustrated with chan, and every passing day of limited conversation, barely any eye contact, and virtually no response from chan was wearing you down. one second you were smitten, and the other you were pissed.
and it eventually all came to a halt.
the front door of your house shut loudly, louder than usual. and you had a sneaking suspicion chan hadn’t the best day at work. well. that was a shame - you were still pissed, and to think he had the audacity to come home angry from work when he could barely prove to be a communicative partner was enough to leave your blood boiling. you’d let him have it if given the chance.
“how was work.” it wasn’t so much a question as much as a routine statement. you sat on the couch, shuffling through your movies to find the one he’d been wanting to watch, which upon realization, you didn’t know why you did that when you were pissed at him.
“fine.” he stomps into your shared bedroom, yanking the tie from his throat as he did so. you roll your eyes and keep shuffling with a much heavier hand this time. when he re-emerges from the bedroom, he’s shed his tie but still has on his button-down and suit jacket on, you furrow your brows and sit up from the couch.
“what’s wrong? what happened?” you ask out of the goodness of your heart. he tosses open the fridge, sighing. “nothing. nothing happened.”
“you wanna watch that movie you said you wanted to see?” he runs his hands over his face, closing the fridge door. he looks for a moment as if he’s thinking, his hands on his hips as he swallows. “no. not tonight.” he finishes, beginning to walk out of the kitchen before you stand.
“i really really wish you just cared for me.”
it was quiet, quiet, when you said it. the words left your lips before you could realize that your vision was getting a bit glossy. he freezes in his tracks, whipping his vision towards you at the sound of your voice. there wasn’t venom to your words like you expected there would be, no. just defeat. chan hears it, he hears it in you and all of his frustration, his anger, his annoyance, just melts away. instead, his chest is swallowed with guilt.
“i try,, i try so hard to make this work, chris. i really do.” you wipe your face even though tears haven’t fallen yet, and he thinks it’s to stop them from ever doing so, at least in front of him, and his chest aches. he’s turned to face you now, just six feet away or so, and his brow softens at the sight of you.
“i cook for you and make you coffee every morning and try renting your favorite movie because you said you wanted to watch it and wear pretty things out to work events and when i go out with friends but,, you don’t,,,” you look at him when you speak, he sees that water building in your eyes and takes a step closer to you, almost wanting to reach out but stopping himself before he’s to do so. your head shakes, you sniff one more time.
“because that’s what married people do.” this time he does walk closer, you don’t move, but you don’t look him in the eye either - it seems much to hard to do when you’re on the brink of crying.
“i promised myself,,” you lift a clenched fist to his chest, tapping him once with it, your lips screwing together in frustration though your voice is still soft and tearful. “that as your wife i’d love you one day.” your hand drops from his chest, you wipe your eyes when a single tear spills over your waterline, ducking your head to do so out of his line of sight. “is it too much to ask the same from my husband.”
it’s quiet for a minute, in one way he knows everything to say. every sweet word to soothe over your aching heart, because that’s what he’s suppose to do as your husband, and there’s another part of him that has no clue what to say.
because what kind of husband is he to leave you feeling as empty as this.
“i told myself on our wedding day that,, i never wanted to be the one to make you cry.” his palms come to cup your cheeks, though his large hands end up swallowing some of your jawline and neck as well. your eyes widen a bit at the feeling, “look at me?” he asks, voice quiet. you do so with guidance from his own hands. “i’m sorry. i’m really sorry.” even he has some water building on his waterline, you notice. you frown, feeling his thumbs dry your under eyes.
“i never wanted to make you feel uncared for or unheard. i appreciate everything you do for me. and i’m sorry i’ve made you question if i care for you.” he wipes his thumbs under your eyes once more before his hands lower a bit. “you’re my wife. i care about you so much. and i’ll show you that, i promise.”
you talk for a little longer, but disregard the movie for the night, instead, you settle on curling up beside chris who wraps an arm around you, his cheeks a bit pink as you adjust yourself in his hold. he feels the burn of your own cheeks against his arm. “is this okay?” he asks, his opposite hand settling on your hip. you smile, “of course. i’m your wife, you can touch me. can i touch you?” he hums, scooting closer, giving you the okay to lay your arm across his midsection. you close your eyes for a moment, if only to enjoy the feeling of holding your husband for the first time. the warmth that always seems to naturally radiate off of him, the closeness of his breath, the feeling of being the only woman who gets to see him like this.
“i didn’t know you were so cuddly, mr. bang.” you smile to yourself, his hand stroking soft over your hip. “only when given the chance, mrs. bang.” he replies. “ooh,, too smooth.” you admire.
when silence encircles the both of you, and you feel sleepiness begin to creep up on you, he speaks again, “did you mean it when you said you’d learn to love me one day?” his voice is quiet, so tender - it licks at the wounds of your heart and seals them shut. your heart pounds behind your ribcage and you breathe deep to settle the rage of affection steadily brewing in you. “of course.” you reply, your face beginning to bury in his neck.
“well, that’s a shame.” you furrow your brows, opening your eyes to look up at him. before you can reply he speaks again. “because i love you now.”

“the summer berries on the bushels in the forest are getting ripe now, i brought you some.” you lift your basket, both hands wrapped around it’s weak woven handle, showcasing your proud supply of freshly picked goods. you set the basket down a moment later, your husband batting a quick eye to the basket before he looks back to his spread of books a second later. “mm.” is his only reply.
lee minho was the protector and guide of the largest castle in the northern part of your land. he was a renowned alchemist and practitioner of magic, known for being aid to a handful of people in the village you were raised in, and most notably - a fierce god of night. a vampire.
it was true the stories of bloodlust and killings that tainted centuries of vampire lore; but lee minho set out to do something different. he hadn’t a care of the human experience, which he shared with that of his ancestors, but he had no need to kill them either. animal blood tasted just as delicious as a human’s. and when befriending a human, their loyalty was like no other. so he didn’t kill them, no, he made pacts and promises, and if anything used them more like pawns but they’d die soon before he did.
and then there was you. his wife. promised to his hand by your family - a pact of sorts, one of which you both hadn’t necessarily agreed to if it wasn’t for both of your families stepping in to further push along the marriage. in a quiet candlelight scenery you were married to your now husband, and your seal of a kiss was shared. which, honestly, you didn’t regret. he was very handsome - and kissing handsome men was always a joyous occasion (well, mostly anyway)
he was rageful. not at you, maybe more to existence itself. he was never angry towards you, he never showed it, but you could see deep within the brown wash of his eyes that he was indeed an angry man. he had a hate you’d only seen a few times, and every time you looked a little too hard you felt yourself look away - to anywhere else in the room. afraid of what it meant, afraid of his own distaste.
“you’re wearing the dress.” he notes. his vision still wondering over the pages in his book. your slightly fallen expression gleams a little at his comment. “yes, of course. you bought it for me.” your hands smooth over your torso, he still doesn’t look up. your lips twist at the sight of your husband’s disinterest, but you turn to wash the berries and leave the room.
most of your marriage to minho felt like a huge disinterest on his side. he’d lived many years, this much was true. but in your short time to live, you longed for a husband who loved you; and part of you thought minho was largely incapable of this. he never showed it. he never showed anything for that matter; he was always so far away. life not only was nonexistent to him as a man, but in his very eyes. he showed not a shred of emotion, and even in your good memories with him, he showed very little. part of you blamed it on his years of living, but yet the other part of you reminded you it was all the more reason to care. every day felt like a slow drag, you weren’t really living, not really. survival maybe. but being bound to this castle with a man who rarely payed you mind left an ache worse than death. were you not to his standards? maybe that was it.
you’d shed too many tears over the situation, now every time you cry you try to pull yourself together in the face of your grief. upon talking to your family, a few members reminded you that your voice was powerful, and you should very much share your opinions to him on the matter if your marriage was to work - but that was the thing. a few months in with the man you were to learn to love, and you felt even now it was helpless. it was a sting that brought you to your knees, god how you wanted to just tell him. tell him you loved him - and hear it from his own mouth.
upon your ravage of feelings and your family’s request, you resorted to writing a letter to your husband. you surely wouldn’t have the guts to face this powerful man in person, not like this. so you took to beginning your note in scribbles in the isolated space of your bedroom.
your lips twitch in thought as you think over the contents of your letter, your hand stilling still quipped with a quill. you’re swallowed with silence in the stillness of your bedroom, word after word is brought to the front of your brain. there’s a number of things you could say, but not enough words in the world to describe how you felt.
“lee minho, i’m unhappy.” you speak aloud as you write, taking a moment to look back at your writing, quickly scribbling the line out before starting again.
“dear husband, i have a few things to bring to your attention.” you nod along as you write, happier with this line.
“i believe if we’re to work as husband and wife, we should talk more.”
“i try time and time again to gain your attention, to bring you happiness in a way i know how.”
“but,, it seems to never be enough.”
“if you don’t want me,” you pause, your fingers fumble with the quill in your hand as your palms begin to warm against the hardwood. your lips twitch again.
against all things in your brain reminding you a married couple should speak of their issues and this was a must in your relationship if either of you wish to continue - an overwhelming feeling of pure grief washes over you and your hand as you still to keep from writing.
every bright moment in your relationship flashes before your eyes like matches starting a fire. it’s so overwhelming that your voice dies, and a tight tug at the back of your throat halts you to a shred of reality you hadn’t dwelled on. you sit further back in your chair, eyes glossing over into thought - lost entirely to the contents of your brain. realization has hit you like a truck in the face of your confrontation.
because what about all of the wonderful times you’ve spent together.
what about the dancing of your wedding day, the golden burn of his watchful gaze, the presents, the meals shared, the wishes of good morning or good night? what about all of the times that kept you so closely tethered to him? what about the times that kept you in love with the man who barely spoke to you.
you take a breath - and as quiet as it would be, it’s blaringly loud in the silence of your bedroom.
“i want to love you. i do. and,, i think i do.” clarity has left your quill, and instead, you write from your heart. what you truly feel.
“i hate that you don’t notice when i try to do kind things for you.”
“i want to work in matrimony of us.”
“i know our marriage is against our wishes, but i want to make it work.”
“i just.. i just wish you cared about me.”
a hand sharply grabs your chin, pulling your gaze to meet that of your husband's golden gaze.
“not care?” he asks, his face screwed into a sort of confused expression. “not care?” he asks again as his expression contorts again, further - until his hand is tender.
you’re so sharply pulled from your own head that you’re left with whiplash. he’s heard you? where was he? did you leave the door open? your eyes are blown wide as you face him in the realization he’s heard everything.
your mouth dries as you look at him, his gaze cuts into your very being and you feel utterly frozen. “no-! i didn’t mean it-” “you do though. i’ve made you feel this way.” his gentle grip on your chin leaves you, and he shuffles away, sitting firmly on your bed. his gaze seems lost, as if he couldn’t keep up with the words you’d admitted.
“minho..” “i do care.” he cuts in. you swallow, your brows melding together as you do so. “i don’t… want you to feel this way. and i’m sorry for doing so.”
in the face of confrontation he seems genuinely distressed, not that any part of you doubted it - but it was comforting to hear the words leaving his mouth.
“if we’re to be married, i want you happy. comfortable. i don’t want you to feel bad because of me.” he explains.
“i just,, i want to work this out. i want us to talk more; tell me what makes you happy and what hurts you.” you reassure, holding onto the back of your chair as minho’s head hangs low. “i’m your wife, i want to hear all of that.” a small smile stretches across your mouth; it’s lopsided and a bit sad, but it’s there nonetheless, and the sound of your voice lets minho’s head rise as he meets your gaze once more.
he sees in you the beauty he sees across the room even as you just sit a few feet away from him. it’s overwhelming, suffocating; and part of him hates it a little bit for suffocating his heart in one swift swallow. you’re all encompassing and human - he’s learned self-control few could achieve, and yet even a few months into a marriage he didn’t agree to and he’s smitten. he wants to reach deep inside his chest and pull his heart out by it’s tethers, and apart of him wants to feel your love to the highest degree he could if just to be surrounded in heaven once more.
“were you lying then?” he pauses, hands wrung together. “when you said you loved me?” a small quirk in the corner of his mouth leaves your face and chest hot.
“i wasn’t lying.”
minho’s made home on your bed, lulled to his side as his pretty eyes wash over your face. you aren’t connected, in fact, you’re a little afraid to touch him - regardless of this fact, your wrist lifts to reach nimble fingers to his face, but you pause, your soft fingers retracting into your palm.
“touch me.” he needs. his hand cupping your own to bring to his face tenderly.
your face is flushed with a dusty pink, the feeling of his face beneath your touch lights the nerve endings in your palm alight. your brow quirks in thought, but not for a moment do you part with his sun-washed eyes.
“how did you become a vampire?” you ask quietly, your thumb strokes the soft skin beneath his eye, his hand stroking the back of your own.
“i was born into it. my family comes from a long blood-line of vampires.” you hum in response, taking a moment to study the wash of sun-like gold that overtakes your husband’s eyes. fractals of evening sun beam through the curtains in your bedroom, creating a soft sleepy haze in your room. dust is seen floating in the room in the portions of sun that reach into the room.
“you’re beautiful.” he beats you to it, realizing he too has been looking at you the entire time. you retract your hand nervously, a smile stretching across your face in sweet embarrassment. “thank you.”
“do you want to be one one day? or do you value your life?” he’s half joking, a floppy smirk on his lips as he sighs a laugh. you hum once more, looking to his mouth to see the slight glimpse of fangs visible to you.
“maybe. if it meant i got to spend more time with you, than yes.”
minho’s smirk widens, his eyes washing from your face to the curve of your jaw, to the drop of your neck. his mouth parts, his hand coming to the curve of your ribcage over your waist, his warm hand freezes you in place. he lowers his lips to the column of your neck, a lowly drunken gaze filtering over his face. “that could be arranged.” his breath meets the tender flesh of your neck before he presses your waist closer to your body, his soft lips meeting your neck in a single kiss.
𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓫𝓲𝓷.↴
“be careful on the job today.” you crane your neck out of the doorway of the kitchen to look at your husband as he tightens a holster around his thigh. he looks up for a moment, face momentarily stricken with something similar to surprise at your well wishes. he looks down a moment later, checks the clip of his pistol, and then shoves it into the holster. “i will. i’ll be back tonight.” the door closes sharply behind him and you’re left in the silence of your home yet again.
there’s a pool of melted ice on top of your coffee, you take a sip anyway, the palm of your hand now wet from the sweat off the glass. in truth, you were trying. very sternly trying to make your marriage work. but with circumstances of said marriage coupled with the dangerous reality of your lifestyles, it felt like your assumed fate was dwindling before your eyes - a thin bow ready to snap under pressure.
being born into crime wasn’t all good fellas or the godfather all the time - no. it was nasty business, some of which you came to regret but again this was the only life either of you knew, leaving the business would be impossible without a gun to your head. you persevered in the face of guilt anyway, not knowing fully how your husband felt about the situation. the sound of your phone ringing brings you out of your head for a moment, leaving you rolling your eyes at the sight of your mother’s name across the vibrating screen.
“yes?’’ your coffee tastes bitter now, too much water - you pour the contents into the sink as she begins talking.
“hey hun, there’s a job tomorrow that’s opened up. one of the boys got canned, we’ll pay his bail through an anonymous source but we have to wait a few days so the cops don’t catch on. you in?” your fingers tug a coffee filter out of it’s wooden box, stuffing it into the machine as you press a button on your grinder.
“mom,” your hand comes to your eyes, rubbing them tiredly. “i told you i was out of the dirty work. i’m doing that shit anymore. and i’m severely out of practice of doing anything hefty.” you explain, the grinder stops, you pour the grounds into the coffee machine. she sighs on the other end, her voice coming through more heated now - pressure started weighing on your shoulders. she says your name with a deadly tone, it leaves you feeling as though there’s a cold metal rod stiff in your back.
“why don’t you ever look out for this family? you think you can just leave and do the bare minimum when your father and i have slaved over making a good childhood for you?” and then you’d argue back and forth until you felt like ripping your hair out and you’d finally cave and you mom would end the call sharply and once again leave you in the silence of your home that was beginning to feel more like a prison.
when you heard the beep that ended the call, you tossed your phone to the couch and let your mind wander yet again - what else was there to do in your seemingly failing marriage and rocky relationship with your parents? you hadn’t many friends unless they were in the business, and that only counted for a few really close ones. you track around your kitchen with your fingers pushed into your hairline, and your mind wanders back to something she’d said on the phone a few weeks ago.
“we found you your husband, is that not good enough for you?”
you hadn’t even the energy to put up with audacity of that claim. so you ended the call and showered, but it still ate at you greatly - because no. no it wasn’t enough. changbin, as dedicated to the lifestyle as he was, and you respected him for his commitment, was terrible at showing you what he truly felt. most conversations were barely that, mostly exchanges if anything - and the few good times you’ve had together were truly the only thing keeping you around if it wasn’t for the godforsaken hope you managed to hold onto.
you saw the good in him - the good he was capable of, and every time you’d suffocate yourself in thought about being three months in and still not working together as a married couple should, you reminded yourself of this fact. it’s what kept you in, what drew you closer to him. because what could you both be? it’s already bad enough you have feelings for the guy and he clearly didn’t feel the same way.
“fuck,, what am i gonna do.” to clear your head you showered again, tying back your wet hair and slumming around the house until changbin arrived back home when you’d be drifting off to sleep. at least you had an opportunity to clean; and when the house was clean, you felt a bit better. you were correct about changbin returning late - you heard a long sigh as he entered your bedroom, the plop of a duffel bag could be heard. when you look at the time on your phone you see it’s just past three in the morning.
“how’d it go?” you ask tiredly from the bed, the bathroom light flickers on and he raises his head a bit. “oh i’m sorry i didn’t mean to wake you.”
“it’s okay. you okay?”
“yeah. yeah, everything went fine. what’d you do today?” you see the rings of exhaustion circling his eyes as he strips off his shirt and hides the smallest of winces.
you sigh heavily, rubbing your eyes as the sink begins to run. “i talked to my mom on the phone. doing a job tomorrow night. cleaned the house though.”
“what kind of job?” he asks as he starts the shower. you talk a bit louder so he can hear you over the sound of the spray. oh he wasn’t going to like the sound of this - these kinds of jobs were everyone’s least favorite in the business.
“there’s a warehouse on fifth, when you’re leaving the downtown area. apparently some guys are trafficking there. gotta take them out.”
“shit.. be careful. small time guys have been trying to make names of themselves.”
“i know, i will be.”
careful you were, but careful was not enough. those guys holed up in that warehouse with every corner covered, not only that, but with automatic weapons with full mags, dressed in black to blend with the shadows. the job was done, the victims released into promised care and with you aid in the following days, be returned to their families or brought to homes, but not without some wounds of your own. the guys dropped you off at the back of your house, granted it was past midnight but you couldn’t be too careful. your home was secluded - but what the law knew was unbeknownst to the organization in regards to this mission in particular.
you left your weapons in the van with the promise of getting them back the next day. “c-clean the blood off it for me, would you?” you grinned, shuffling from the van with your arm slung over your partner. you lean nearly fully into his weight as he aids you in finding your back door. you bang on the big sliding window before unlocking it, letting changbin know you were home.
“we gotta get the fuck outta here. you be careful yeah? call me tomorrow morning.” the driver calls before peeling away from your home. you nod, using the wall to stumble inside your house as the living room is suddenly flooded with light, and your husband walks out of your bedroom with his phone in hand and his brows furrowed.
“changbin,,” you push the door closed, leaving bloody handprints everywhere you touched.
“fuck- okay, okay, okay- it’s alright. come here.” his outstretched hands come to wrap your arm around his shoulders and stabilize on your waist as he helps you walk to your bathroom.
hot spots of pain blossom on your waist, ribs, and leg. it’s throbbing, all encompassing, and leaves your eyes watering when changbin’s palm presses a little harshly into your side. throughout the house your gasps and groans of pain are heard, changbin is working as diligently and carefully as he can to help you to the bathroom, only imagining how much you must be hurting.
“okay, okay- i’m gonna lay you on the floor okay?” he helps you rest along the floor after he’s put some towels down, and kneels by your side before grabbing the extensive first aid kit you kept in your bathroom. you nod, closing your eyes to focus on breathing, but every breath in hurts, and every exhale throbs your wounds.
“where are you hit?” he asks, you now notice his hands are tainted with your blood in just a few splotches. he rummages through the kit, reaching for the hem of your shirt as he cuts through your gear and clothing. “m-my sides, and,, one in my left leg.”
“alright. it’s gonna be okay - let’s get you sewn up. what happened?” he asks as a way of distracting you from how bad this was about to hurt. he pours some alcohol in his hands before barring your torso to his eyes, now seeing the festering wounds.
“t-they-” you laugh because it’s hurting so bad and your eyes are getting glossy as adrenaline leaves your body. “they had automatics… every one of them was geared the fuck up. and not only that but there must’ve been twenty,, twenty five of them and five of us.”
changbin’s head slowly shakes in disappointment that you were set up that badly for failure, his haw is tight - but he remains focused on the task at hand, cleaning you up. he lifts you up with one arm and helps you shred your arms of your sleeves completely, focusing now on the wound near your ribs. “why’d they send you in with only five people? did they want you to die? fuck.”
“seems like it.” you chuckle, his hand stabilizes before he reaches into your wound with medical pliers to grab the bullet still embedded in you. your grip tightens on the towels beneath you, eyes now swimming with tears as you groan at the feeling of the tug of the pliers.
“i know, i know. you’re doing good though, talk about something. tell me about the job or- your favorite music or something.” his hands dip into a bowl of water, returning to your wound to clean you from blood and put some pressure on the wound.
“the job was shit, but,, the guys are gone. all the victims are safe and i’ll work on paper work to get them home tomorrow.” he hums, nodding. he puts a bit of topical numbing around the wound before grabbing sutures to close the open wound. “as far as music,” you laugh to yourself again, your gaze focused on the ceiling. “you trying to get to know me? didn’t think you cared so much for that.”
his hands pause. then lower. he looks at you with a kind of genuinity you didn’t expect from the man you called your husband. “of course i care. you’re my wife.”
“you’re always so focused on the work, on your job. you’re gone a lot. i can tell you care about the organization i just,, i don’t know. i always hoped you’d care for us too.”
he frowns a bit, his gaze is focused back to his hands as he threads the string more diligently through the needle. he’s paused, he has a focused expression and you can tell when you look at him he’s thinking - part of you hopes you haven’t stumped him, or made him uncomfortable - maybe you did hold out too much hope.
“i do care about us. about you. i always figured since we were arranged to be married that you wouldn’t want much to do with me.” when he returns to working on your wound you wince, eyes closing tight. he apologizes quietly, but it’s over quicker than you expected.
“i want everything to do with you, silly. you’re my husband. i want this to work between us if we’re going to be married.” your eyes are still watery and the throbbing hasn’t subsided - you wonder if part of this is delusion since your filter has seemingly disappeared in the face of pain.
he smiles, softly. “i’m sorry that i’ve made you feel that way, and hey-” his hand reaches for yours, the one that bears the ring he gifted you on the day you were married. your eyes meet his as your head lulls to the side, you grasp onto his hand as if he’d stabilize you - and he does. “i do care about you. genuinely.”
you squeeze his hand, the wash of tears that drowned your eyes from pain spill finally. “i care about you too.”
“don’t cry, silly. i’m almost done, let’s get you cleaned up, yeah?”
after changbin coaches you through treating your wounds, he runs you a quick bath and helps you wash the dirt and sweat from your hair. it felt strange to say you felt an overwhelming trust to him - but maybe that was just the energy he exuded. he helps you to bed, and quickly showers off himself before laying next to you.
his arm wraps around you, and the pain in your side has dulled from the medicine he made you take after closing up your wounds and cleaning them. your head rests on his chest comfortably. “you never answered my question about music.” he says suddenly.
“i’ll play you all my faves tomorrow morning when you cook me breakfast because i got shot.” you grin cheekily against him.
“deal.”
𝓱𝔂𝓾𝓷𝓳𝓲𝓷.↴
“i am to be his wife.” there was no expression in the gaze you cast your parents, hands folded neatly in front of you, ever obedient in the face of nobility. before your eyes, in the face of your youth your life of freedom ever awaiting your embrace is taken from you and shackled. your life is to be given to a man you didn’t know, and when shoved his own in your hands you feel the pulse of forgotten life in your palms. there was more to say other than you didn’t want this, there was more words you could sputter in anger at your parents, other screams and cries for this to not happen, yet you swallow, let your eyes gloss over, and prepare a wedding in the following year to a man you’d meet only once before promising forever to him.
across from you at the altar he stood jaw tight, eyes glassy yet lifeless. when the wedding guests settled and your father handed you off to the prince’s hands, you breathed deep in an attempt to conceal the building tears that sparkled in your eyes. officiant you didn’t know, in the sea of people commending your marriage you knew few faces, and he spoke vows because of remembrance not because of promise. when he lifted the veil from your eyes to look at you, he for a moment faltered and his lips flattened.
you kissed him because you had to. and you slept beside him that night because you had to.
in marriage, you always imagined that life would blossom with a spark of light. as a seal to two people’s testament of their love it would grow into something truly beautiful - it would drink in the sun, bathe in the rain, paint its colors on pages and tell its story on lips through decades. as a young girl, the idea of one day marrying someone that loved you was thrilling to say the least. it was pure; and good. and every notion, every dream, every promise to your life you’d made, was stripped from you in a single evening.
you’d rise from bed when the maids would wake you to dress. you’d be dressed beside your husband, wearing the rings that testified your union, and would watch over the kingdom that would be given to your hands one day.
there was no use in trying, not even from the start.
but you wanted to love him. oh you terribly wanted to love him.
beside him you’d sleep - watching the curvature of his heart shaped lips, the breathing his body exuded - existence. how you were his without him even knowing. only in this state could you see him, really see him. the sprawl of his hair on the pillow before it was to be tied back that morning upon your wake. beautiful he was. when his eyes fluttered open, he wet his lips and you heard him speak - for the first time it felt as though it was to you.
“i’m sorry.”
for the entire rest of the day you spent in a haze in your own head.
two months have gone by, and you were achingly in love with him. but you couldn’t say the same for him; his headspace was unknown. you shared a great castle together, a smaller one just outside the village as your parents lived inside the city walls in the palace, but home felt like a restraint on you. nothing was sacred.
when you spoke, it was matters of business and a shred of the time was talk of personal matters. the only truth you spoke to hyunjin was in the hours before he’d wake when sleep would leave you too early. you tuck your folded hands together under your pillow, your eyes washing over his face as he slept. upon your movement, he turned to his side, his broad shoulders creating lines of his body beneath his sleep shirt. part of you wanted to reach out, to wrap your arms around him and tell him you believed in the both of you, but your thoughts still to silence.
“i wish you cared for me, in the way i care for you.” you mumble quietly.
“but i cannot say it yet. you’re a shadow; yet you’re sorry. i’m so confused in my love for you.”
that’s when he turned over, his eyes open. the maids walk in a second later and your wide eyes glance to them. they pause in their steps, looking between the both of you. had he heard you? surely not. you push yourself onto your elbows as he speaks to the maids, his own hands planted firmly in the mattress.
“i can dress her.”
they quickly excuse themselves after, mumbling as they leave the room hurriedly. the room stills, you’re left in the wake of his words with confusion bubbling through your head and your face suddenly flushed. he stands without another word as they’ve left the room, moving to the closet to fetch your under clothes, corset, and gown for the day.
“hyunjin,” you speak softly.
“i care greatly for you. i do, but-”
you swallow, still sitting on the bed with your legs curled beneath the covers. “you cannot dress me.” you hold a hand to pause him in his movements as he approaches with your day clothes in hand. he swallows, “you’re my wife. i can dress you. if you’d let me.”
hwang hyunjin was one of the most beautiful men you’d ever seen, and this he knew as well - yet the cool confidence he usually carried on his shoulders, in his handshakes, and in his voice, had dissipated. he looked at you with darting eyes that searched your own for the answers he needed, his hands gripped your dress tight.
his hand stretches out to you, offerance of aid. you look to his palm, the gentle length of his fingers, and find his exuding energy welcoming - so you take his hand. it’s warm as your skin washes over his own, his hands were smooth and embracing, and you stand before him with a sharp intake of breath.
“i’ve made you feel this way,” he begins, beginning to untie the laces that hang from the neck of your night dress. there’s a great deal of nerve vibrating through your body at the prospect of him dressing you, but regardless you let him in the wake of his tenderness. and if it meant a moment you could share closer to him - you’d take it.
“you only speak your feelings to me when you think i’m asleep.” at that your breath stills, panic settles in quietly to your bones.
“i-i’m sorry i-” “you have no need to apologize, it’s me. i’ve made you feel this way. and i’m sorry.” when your dress is removed, he kneels at your feet to gather it before letting you step into your under dress. you rest your hand on his shoulder for balance to do so.
“in truth, i can’t tell you why i love you.” he says, his hands working to tie your second layer skirt around your waist, once it’s firm and not uncomfortable, you turn your head to look at him with glossy eyes. “you cannot say such things to me and not mean it. you can’t.”
“i know i haven’t shown it, but it’s true, that i promise you.” with that, he gently guides your arms through the holes of your corset, and begins lacing it, leaving your eyes drowning in tears as your lips tremble.
“you-you haven’t shown it. how am i to know you love me or that i love you when we hardly have a relationship. you’re my husband, i want to love you as one.” you gasp as he pulls the strings to tighten it, his palm laying flat on your back as he tugs once more.
“it’s a promise i make now, to show you i do indeed love you. i want you to tell me when you’re hurting, i want to help, i want to grow with you.” his hands lay along your waist as your corset is tightened. when he rounds you, seeing your eyes fogged over, his heart pangs with guilt.
“i’m sorry, truly. that i have made you feel this way. but please, know my promise is true.” his hands come to gather yours in his grip.
you nod, wiping your face for a moment as you lift your gaze to look at him. “then i’ll tell you. i’ll tell you whatever you want to hear. i want to work to make this kingdom a happy place for our people, we must work together in that regard.”
hyunjin listens, strokes his thumbs across the backs of your hands and you speak for a while longer on your marriage, how you’re both willing to work to make your love make sense, how you wish to be a unit in making the kingdom a place of happiness for your people. he prepares for the day, wearing an outfit the same shade of off-white as your own with his long dark hair tied back into a bun.
he offers his arm to you before you both leave your bedroom, smiling softly. “thank you for talking to me.” he says, opening the door for you. “thank you for listening and talking as well. it feels nice to have this weight lifted.”
“i agree.”

percy jackson x aphrodite cabin counselor!reader summary: valentine's day at chb brings you and your best friend closer than ever wc: 1.4k
Tumblr media
Today was your favorite day at Camp Half-Blood, Valentine's Day. Maybe it was cliché considering you were an Aphrodite kid, but there was just something about Valentine's Day that was addicting to you. Maybe it was the weeks leading up to it that you played matchmaker even more than you normally did as counselor of the Aphrodite cabin, or maybe it was the cute and overpriced chocolate that the Stoll brothers smuggled into camp for the annual Valentine's party.
However, one thing was for sure: it was not because you had a valentine or were in love. Well, you were in love but still had no valentine which came as a huge surprise to all of your siblings, but even more so your friends at camp.
Since you were 14 and made cabin counselor, you always had a date to your own Valentine's party. This year was different though, you'd realized your crush on your best friend at the Christmas party and knew then that you couldn't break another person's heart by taking them as your date to the Valentine's party and then dumping them the next day. After you completed the 'rite of passage' as an Aphrodite kid, you decided that you didn't have it in you to break anyone else's heart, so whoever you dated next had to be it for you.
Today you'd woken up nearly on cloud nine. You'd gone about your routine as normal and then got to work assigning tasks for your siblings to set up the party. While everyone at Camp Half-Blood was invited to the party, you still liked to make invites, because really, why have a party if you can't make cute pink invites for everyone?
Usually, parties like this for 'minor' holidays wouldn't be allowed at Camp Half-Blood, but Mr. D and Chiron, mostly Chiron, made an exception because of how much it meant to the Aphrodite cabin. Mr. D only let you host it because you somehow convinced the Olympians to let his wife come down to accompany him to the party.
Now, after assigning your siblings to their task, handing out invites, and making sure the party was ready, you were sitting at your vanity, redoing your makeup and hair, while your best friend, Percy, laid on your bed and juggled your stuffed animals, which you usually would have found weird or annoying, but now you couldn't help but notice just how beautiful he was. His black hair always sat messily atop his head, nearly never fully dry because he couldn't keep himself from jumping into the water whenever he felt like it. Before last year, you would've fixed his hair and chastised him for jumping into the lake because it made his hair all weird, but you just admired it now.
Not wanting to get caught staring, you turned back to your mirror, not noticing the way Percy stared at you with hearts in his eyes in the back.
"You look so cute," he said mindlessly, his brain immediately yelling at his mouth for always saying things he meant to keep to himself.
"What'd you say?" You ask, mad at yourself for not hearing him and hanging onto his every word.
Percy had never felt relief like that in his life.
"Nothing, I just said you look like a fruit," he said, mentally facepalming. "You look like a fruit," what the hell is my problem?
"That doesn't even make sense, but okay," you say, rolling your eyes.
"Sure it does, if your mind is as awesome as mine."
If your eyes could roll to the back of your head and stay there, yours might as well have already because of how many times you roll your eyes around this boy, but never out of real annoyance. How can someone who would typically be so annoying with his stupid jokes be so cute.
"No," you say to yourself. If I keep thinking like this, I'm just going to mess up our friendship.
Little did you know, the boy you were thinking about was thinking about you in the exact same way.
"Hey, when are you going to be done? The party is in like 10 minutes."
"Yes, Percy, I know, it's not like I'm hosting the party or anything," you say, feigning annoyance. "You can go on your own if I'm taking up too much of your 'precious time', y'know," you say, hoping but deep down knowing that he wouldn't go without you.
"Oh come on, you know damn well I would never go to a party without you, especially a party you're hosting, we're best friends," he says, immediately regretting the last words he said as soon as he heard himself say them.
Friends. That's all you are to him.
"Right, what am I thinking?" He hears you 'laugh', and if Percy Jackson knows anything about anything, he knows that is not a real laugh, but he doesn't know what to say to make it better.
"Well, I'm done now, I just need to put on my dress, just stay here," you state, sauntering off into the walk in closet. You choose your cutest red dress to pair with your darling white cowboy boots, but can't manage to tie the straps into bows yourself, so you decide to ask Percy for help.
"Hey, can you come in here? I need your help tying this!"
Percy blushes, but walks in nonetheless, and is immediately astonished at the amount of clothes in just your closet alone.
The sight of your bare shoulder and small manicured hands holding up your dress was enough for him to combust on the spot, but he held himself together.
The sight of the dark red tint on his cheeks brought a cheeky smile to your face, knowing that your plan was set in motion.
His fingers shakily grabbed the ribbons on the dress and tied a bow on each shoulder, but not without him accidentally touching your shoulders with the pads of his fingers.
His touch could've lit you on fire, even though he was a son of Poseidon, not Hephaestus. Even the tiniest touch was absolutely intoxicating.
You turned around and grabbed Percy's hand. If touching your shoulders was just the first step of becoming addicted to you, he was fully ready to do anything for you now.
It's not like you two never touched each other, but it was never quite like this. Not when you both had a sneaky feeling that the other felt the same way that you did.
Even when you got to the party, you stayed near each other. When you went up to the front of the party and went over your yearly Valentine’s spiel, he was at your side. When you went to get some of the definitely not spiked punch, he was at your side.
When the slow dance songs came on, he gently grabbed and moved your hand from his to his shoulder.
The way you looked into each other's eyes could in itself be a public display of affection. The pure love in your eyes for each other shut all of your admirers down without you even having to say anything. Your faces slowly got closer to each other, still staring into each other's eyes.
"Are we about to kiss right now?" he asked, mostly as a joke, but a small part of him still had hope.
What he didn't expect was for you to softly, with your honey-like voice, "I don't know about you, but I definitely hope so."
With your consent, he felt like his lifelong wish was coming true, and he immediately pushed his slightly chapped lips onto yours.
The feeling of finally getting to kiss each other was like the best thing in the world but 500x better. He tasted vaguely like a weird but good combination of saltwater and cookies.
The longer you kissed, the more passionate it got, and this was definitely pda now. His sharp teeth gently bit down on your bottom lip, causing your mouth to open, allowing his tongue in. You'd never felt something so perfect in your life.
When the two of you finally split, it felt like when you were a little kid and your parents took away your toys.
"Not sure about you, sugar, but that was singlehandedly the best kiss I've had in my life," he said with a smile.
a/n: book!percy my beloved also happy valentine's day to everyone reading this! <3

--
A massive snow storm delays Charles’ flight home for the holidays and you both begin to give up hope but a Christmas miracle occurs.
Christmas was a bit of a mess this year.
December 24th and Charles Leclerc was stranded in Italy with Andrea and Joris. Charles had gone because he had a Christmas event to do with Ferrari, Joris and Andrea had accompanied him but they decided to go up north and go skiing for the remainder of the week.
They hadn't planned to push it so close to Christmas and then the snow came down; the stupid snow which blocked the roads and left them stranded in the mountains of Italy.
You were a bit disappointed when your boyfriend called to tell you that he wouldn't be able to make it home in time for Christmas. You asked him if there was anything you could do and he told you because of the snow, he wasn't exactly sure when he'd get home.
Charles could hear the disappointment in your voice, and it made him sad to know that he wasn't gonna be able to be home in time to spend Christmas with you.
It was as if Andrea could read Charles' mind; "what?"
"We have to get out of here, we need to go home."
"I know," Andrea tells him, Joris looks up from his laptop, "everything is closed, the roads, the airport, like.. we're stuck."
Charles was nothing if not determined. He made it his mission to make it home in time to spend Christmas with you - bit of a tight task considering it was 10pm on Christmas eve. Nonetheless, he and the boys rallied up - not like Joris or Andrea had a choice - and followed Charles out of the ski resort.
They made it about 2 miles down the road trudging through the snow before they finally came across a ski ranger, the man on his way down the mountain to pick up something they needed on the resort. He was kind enough to let them get in, the 3 of them squished into the back seat as the ranger drove them down. Due to the snow, it took them triple the time to go down than it took to go up but it was progress nonetheless.
Once they made it to the town, they were at crossroads again. How are they going to make it to the airport?
It was a one step at the time sort of plan, if they thought too far ahead, they'd just give up.
Joris wanders into the one place that was still open, a little bakery that was run by the older couple that lived there and they had a grandson who lived not too far off from the airport. The roads were cleared down there but they had no car.
The couple happened to be closing up for the night and on the way to their grandson's, the older woman took a liking to Joris, holding his arm as he led her over to their car.
"Charles!" Joris shouts, waving his friend over. Andrea and Charles wandering over. "Yeah?"
"This is Maria, she and her husband are on their way to grandson's, who lives like-" "He lives five minutes from the airport, let us take you."
"Are you sure?" Charles asks her, as much as he wants to get home, he wouldn't want to put a sweet old woman out of her way.
The woman pinches Charles's cheek, "yes please, I cannot leave you out in the cold. Come, come." She tells him, Andrea helps the older gentleman put all the luggage into the trunk, the 5 of them getting into the car - Charles, Joris and Andrea squished into the backseat again.
The older gentleman, Joe, was just as sweet and welcoming as his wife. They told them stories from when they moved there, how they opened their bakery and their family. As much as Charles appreciated their kind gesture, he was wondering if maybe he should have offered to drive them to the airport.
At some point, an excruciatingly long 3 hour drive - Joe drove slower than most, they made it to the airport.
Maria rolls the window down, saying goodbye to Joris. The photographer holds her hand as she calls for Charles. "Make sure you come back! And bring your girlfriend."
"We will, thank you both so much. I don't know what I can do to repay you."
"Take us to the race next year," Joe calls from next to his wife. Charles laughs, "sounds good, I'll come back and bring your passes."
The 3 of them run into the airport, the boards in front of them display only one word listed to all of the flights - canceled.
Big, bold, red letters crush Charles's heart and his chances of getting home.
Joris pats his friend's shoulder, Andrea already one step ahead of them trying to see if they were anything they could get on to make it home in time - after all, he wanted to get home to his family too.
It's an hour of Andrea bickering with the very tired and annoyed woman behind the counter before Charles joins him, asking her if there was anything they could get on to go home.
The flight to France was 2 hours, he'd manage anything at this point.
"There's one flight, a small passenger plane. I'd have to ask the pilot first."
"Please," Charles says, "I'll pay extra if I need to."
After what felt like another hour the woman finds them and tells them to follow her; she checks them in, getting their passes to them before directing them to where they'd meet the pilot for their flight.
When she said it was a small plane, Charles was expecting small but not this small.
The plane looked like those water planes you'd take from the mainland to an island - it didn't hold more than 6 people.
Charles is just clinging to his seat, counting down the minutes until he can get off that plane. He feels his ears pop, the thud as the plane meets the runway in Nice and he's thanking every god out there for that. They thank the pilot, trying to figure out if they should take the train or just drive home.
None of them have a car at the airport and thank god, it wasn't snowing.
It was Christmas morning, the airport was a madhouse and Charles didn't typically do this but he did use his F1 status to get them a rental, he signed a few autographs for the staff behind the counter and they were off again.
The sun is peeking over the Monaco pier, Andrea drove them home because Charles was too antsy to drive. They dropped him off first.
"Thank you guys, really." He says, standing on the curb with his suitcase.
"We didn't have a choice," Joris tells him jokingly, Andrea nods. "Tell y/n we said Merry Christmas."
"I will," Charles smiles, wishing his friends well before waving them off.
It was good to be home; the man made his way up to your shared apartment, the lights off as you were still sleeping - your soft snores filling his ears as he quietly made his way to the bedroom.
You're tucked away under the covers, the blanket wrapped you up and kept you warm during a lack of Charles in bed. He knew you were a deep sleeper, the fact that he had accidentally slammed the door and it hadn't woken you was sign enough.
He stripped out of his clothes, making his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth. At some point he thought he heard you shift, he peeked out the door way to find you still sleeping.
Charles joined you in bed shortly after, his arm snaking around your waist, the coldness from the bracelet he had on startled you. Your body responded before you could, taking a second to gather your thoughts - the fight or flight kicking in.
He presses a kiss to the back of your shoulder, the smell of his cologne and toothpaste filled your surroundings. "Charles, you're home," you whispered, turning to face the man.
You couldn't fully believe it, not after his call last night, telling you that he wouldn't be making it home.
Your boyfriend smiles, kissing your forehead. "I'm here."
"How?" You mumbled, moving closer to him. Charles's hand presses to your back, rubbing the bare skin softly. "It's a long story, for another time."
You hum, not really caring for the story at the moment. All that matters is that Charles was home and he was home for Christmas. You opened your eyes slightly, peeking at your boyfriend. Both of you wore the same sleepy look - you having just woken up and Charles after a long night of traveling.
You kissed his chin, the man hummed in response. You follow the structure of his face, moving from his chin to his jaw and up to his sideburns, down his cheeks and finally to his lips. Charles pulls you flush against him, his lips holding your hostage.
It had been a long week apart and you both missed each other terribly. Andrea often says you two are like high school kids, all young and in love.
Your arms wrap over his shoulders, pulling the man on top of you. Charles settled himself between your hips. Your boyfriend pulls away from your lips, much to your dismay and finds himself moving down to your neck, along your collarbones and to your chest. Now propped up on your elbows, you watch as your boyfriend's head dips, his teeth softly grazing your stomach on his way to between your legs.
Charles glances up at you and pulls your panties to the side. He was close enough that you could feel his breath on you, your head dropping back when his tongue finally met you.
You look down at your boyfriend between your legs; the man smiling up at you as his arms hook your thighs to pull down flat on his face.
Your hips buck when you feel his tongue against your clit, your hand gripping on his hair. Charles’s hand on your hip rocks you back and forth slightly, just enough that he can hear his name fall from your lips.
Your hand rests on his cheek, “I can't believe you're home.” Your eyes meet his blue ones.
“I'm right here, baby.”
You pull him back down for another kiss. Charles’ hand slips between the two of you, thumb pressed to your clit. Your back arches from the sudden touch, moaning against his lips.
Charles smiles, his heart fluttering every time knowing he’s the one that reduces you to nothing more than a whimpering mess.
“Please,” you pull on his hair, “Charles.”
“What?” He asks, rubbing circles with his thumb.
You can’t help the whimper slipping past your lips. “Fuck me, please.” You ask sweetly and how could he ever say no to you?
Charles finds himself moving to hitch your leg on his hip, lining himself up with you before pushing into you. Your back arches and he gives you a second to adjust to him before moving. You’re biting your lip so hard, you probably drew blood.
Your hand drags down his torso, pressed against his toned stomach when you speak. “You feel so good,” you whisper, knowing you can’t speak any louder.
“Yeah?” He calls, hand slipping between the two of you.
Your red nails, painted for the holidays, digging into his skin, leaving matching red marks matching the colour of your nails against his pale skin. “Fuck- please yes.”
Charles doesn’t quit; his fingers rubbing on your clit, the other hand moving your leg from his hip to rest over his shoulder. Just when his ego couldn’t get any bigger, it did. The 16 hanging off the silver chain around your neck, sitting flat against your sternum.
He can’t help but lean down and press a kiss to it, in the process pushing your leg back. The sound that left your mouth was nothing if not music to his ears.
The sudden ego boost, Charles takes his chance to ask you. “Who makes you feel this good, amour?”
You’re trying to answer him but between keeping the same position and his excruciating pace, you couldn't bring yourself to answer him.
Charles asks again. “Who makes you feel this good, amour ?”
A strangled answer slips past your swollen lips; “You, only you Charles.”
The answer satisfies his ego, his focus is making you cum. His hips hitting the back of your thighs, your boyfriend has now moved your other leg over his shoulders.
“Charles-” you call, your eyes meeting his. He can feel the way you’re clenching around him, his hand moving back to your clit.
“I know,” he hums, “me too.”
A few more sloppy thrusts and both of you fall over the edge, one after the other. Charles kisses by your ankle before letting your legs down, settling against you between your legs still.
Passing a hand through his hair, you smile at your boyfriend; his eyes all droopy and a sleepy smile on his face.
"You're here," you whispered, he nodded and his stubble scratched against your bare skin. "I'm here."
You hum quietly, the sun shining through the curtains in the room, the two of you cuddled up in each other's arms.
"Shall we open gifts?" Charles asks and you shake your head, "they're not going anywhere, let's stay in bed for a bit longer."
He smiles, pressing a kiss to your soft skin. "I like that idea."

Hi. So this is based on something similar that happened on a family holiday once.
WandaNat mums and kid reader.
R is half asleep when we arrive at the airport. Mums are busy with Yelena and the twins so we get quickly sat on the suitcases and wheeled inside.
Everyone enjoys the first day on holiday, until it comes to bedtime. R can't find her baby blanket anywhere. The whole family look and nothing. Until Natasha thinks back and realises it's still in the car.
Knowing we can't sleep without our blankie Natasha calls in a favour and makes the 8 hour round flight to pick the comfort item up.
The next morning (where we're super grumpy and demand that mummy Wanda carries us around) we shuffle into the living room to find both mama nat and blankie curled up on the sofa.
Totally exhausted we curl up with mama and sleep almost straight away.
We never realise what mama had just done for us. But Mummy does. And she falls more in love with her for it.
Please and thank you 😊
The pink bear blankie
Tumblr media
Y/N: 3 years old Billy and Tommy: 10 years old Wanda: Mommy Natasha: Mama ——————————————————
NO ONE'S POV "Sleepy, mama" Y/N whines, burying her head into Natasha's neck as the redhead only just took her out of the car, one of Y/N's small hands playing with Natasha's ear piercings while the other one is wrapped around her mama's neck tightly.
"I know you are, sweetheart. You can sleep on the plane, yeah?" Natasha smiles, pressing a kiss to her baby's cheek while rubbing her back.
"Boys, you got everything?" Wanda asks her two sons, raising an eyebrow as they've been arguing about something.
"Yes, mom" Both answer.
"Yelena, do you have everything?" Natasha asks her sister, knowing she's the one who's most likely to forget something.
"Yes, yes, Natasha. I have everything" Yelena rolls her eyes, taking her suitcase and walking inside just behind the boys and Wanda.
"And now you, детка" Natasha sits the tiny girl that's been in her arms on her suitcase, getting a tired smile in response. "Is that fun, Y/N/N?" She asks with a chuckle, looking at her daughter who's tiredly smiling and looking around. (baby)
———
The flight was fine. Y/N fell asleep as soon as Natasha sat down with her on her lap, the boys were busy with watching a movie, Yelena was listening to some music and Wanda with Natasha had finally some time to talk and just enjoy each other's presence.
As soon as the family arrived to the holiday house they're staying at and unpacked some of their things, they went on the beach.
Everyone had a great time, especially Y/N as she got to build a sandcastle with both her mommies while Yelena was doing silly things with the twins.
"It's bedtime for Y/N, baby. Come on" Wanda smiles, lifting her daughter up with a playful groan. "Say night night"
"Ni-night" Y/N says, resting her head on Wanda's shoulder and giving everyone in the room a wave.
The tiny girl would normally complain about going to bed, but today has really worned her out. Natasha smiles, pressing a kiss to her baby's forehead and telling her goodnight along with the others.
Wanda carries Y/N into the bedroom, placing her down on bed, but the tiny girl sits up immediately.
"Where's my blankie, mommy?" Y/N questions, not seeing her little pink bear blankie anywhere in bed.
"I'm sure it's somewhere around, baby" Wanda assures, looking for the item.
She's one hundred percent sure Y/N had her blankie when they left their house, so it must be somewhere around, right?
After minutes of looking around, Wanda just sits her daughter on her hip and carries her back to the living room where is the rest of the family playing uno.
"Everything okay?" Natasha asks, noticing her wife and daughter's presence in the living room.
"Have you seen Y/N's blankie? " Wanda asks, getting a no from everybody. "Can you help us find it?"
"Alright, let's go, boys" Natasha smiles, standing up.
Every single person starts looking for Y/N's blankie. They search through every single corner of the house, but the baby blanket is just nowhere.
Natasha goes through her mind, trying to picture the whole day and then it clicks. Y/N last had her blankie in the car, so they must had left it there.
"You can stop looking, I think I know where it is" Natasha sighs, walking over to Wanda who looks at her with hope the blankie is found. "I think it stayed in the car"
"Oh no, what do we do now? Y/N won't sleep without it" Wanda sighs.
"Mommy" Y/N whines, making her way over to her mothers. It's already way past her bedtime and she's extremely tired, but without her blankie she just won't sleep.
"I know, honey" Wanda sighs once again, lifting Y/N up and sitting her on her hip. "How about you try to sleep without your blankie tonight, hm?"
Those words are enough to make Y/N cry and Natasha volunteers to try to put Y/N down as it's time for the boys to go to sleep too by now.
So while Wanda's tucking in the twins, Yelena's occupying the TV and Natasha's walking around the whole place, rocking her crying daughter back and forth while humming her a lullaby.
But after two hours of not making any progress, she gives up. If they want to get some sleep during the vacation there's only one thing to do.
"Nat, are you sure? It's so late and the flight is so long" Wanda sighs.
"I am. Y/N obviously won't go to sleep without it. I'll just grab it and be back by morning" Natasha smiles and pecks Wanda's lips before placing a kiss to Y/N's head who is now in Wanda's arms. "I love you"
"I love you too" Wanda smiles back, stealing one more kiss from her wife and then watching her leave.
———
Y/N slept for like 3 hours in total during the night. Both, her and Wanda, are absolutely exhausted, but if there's no blankie, there's just no sleep.
"Noo, mommy, no" Y/N whines, lifting her tiny legs up, so Wanda wouldn't be able to stand her on the ground.
Wanda doesn't have the energy to deal with another tantrum, so she just goes with it and somehow manages to make a quick breakfast for her and Y/N with her grumpy daughter attached to her hip.
Y/N eventually decides to watch a cartoon in the living room after breakfast. And because she refuses to walk once again, Wanda carries her there.
"Mama" Y/N whispers to herself, a grin appearing on her face when she spots her mama curled up with her blankie on the couch and sleeping. "Mommy, down!" She immediately orders, trying to wiggle out of Wanda's strong hold.
And as soon as Wanda manages to stand her daughter on the ground, Y/N runs to the couch, climbing it and cuddling up to Natasha and the blankie.
Wanda can't help but smile on the sight. She still can't believe Natasha just flew all the way to New York and back just to pick up Y/N's blankie.
Her smile widens when she realizes Y/N's already fast asleep, curled up into her mama's side with her blankie secured in her arms.
Y/N is still just a little girl and surely won't realize what Natasha did for her, but Wanda knows. And this is exactly why she fell in love with the redhead in the first place.
Natasha would do anything for their children and that's what Wanda adores the most. And every single moment like this just makes her fall more and more in love with her wife.

omg what’s cabin!konig? new koooonnnyyy unlocked
Yes, König comes in many forms and he always wants to knock you up. But!
Cabin!König is particularly designed to breed, and he’s very vehement about doing just so.
Hauls you deep into the Alps and shoves you inside this cute cabin that looks minimalistic and weather-beaten on the outside but insanely adorable on the inside. There’s a fireplace and a broad, sturdy hardwood bed (for the purpose of you know perfectly well what...), indoor plumbing for your convenience, an electric oven for you to bake him cookies and pastries (traditional Austrian ones if you wish to pamper and spoil him) and a lot of authentic 19th-century art on the walls, next to the ropes and traps and cast iron pans and pots and wicker baskets that hold woollen blankets in case you get cold.
But you really don’t get a chance to get cold, do you? Because König is on and in you every chance he gets. Man's got a plan, and he has always implemented his strategies and completed his projects with a frightening amount of energy, commitment and willpower. You wake up in the morning to his heated cuddles and soft whines, knowing that you’re about to get taken from behind – again. He’s soft and slow at first, cuddlefucking and spooning you like you’re the best thing in his entire world... but you know it’s all just a warm-up. The thrusts get deeper and more intense as the morning session goes on, until both of you are fully awake and König gets into his full breeding mood. It’s the same thing in the evening, but this time, he’s on top and looks you deep in the eyes as he makes love to you while your toes curl and point to the ceiling. Nothing but the fireplace and some candles lighting the cabin with flickering, warm tones: he’s a romantic soul underneath all that callous soldier’s discipline.
During the day, König has many responsibilites outside: he has to fix the roof of some shed and walk the perimeter to check that no one has found their way here, that no one is disturbing his mating season that lasts from May till August. You know nothing about his hikes, but he has even set bear traps all over the place, and not for the purpose of catching bears…
He of course tempted you here by saying you deserve a holiday and that the mountains would be a good, non-stressful environment to finally try and get you pregnant. He has been talking about wanting to have babies ever since you met: actually, he brought the subject up on your first date - to your horror and intrigue - wanting to know if you would ever want kids and if you were in it for the long haul because he was sick of dating just for some shallow, casual fun.
You could never have known that you would get folded into a mating press every day after only a few months of your acquintance, but here you are: getting stuffed full of potent cum every day, multiple times per day, because König has decided that you are the perfect wife material and the perfect mother for his kids.
He can come off as a little too intense, even rough at times, but he is in fact a very gentle lover and offers impeccable aftercare. His hormones are through the roof here in this sweet little cabin with his sweet little future wife-to-be. König is fully in his element when he gets to walk in the brisk mountain air and then come “home” to the delicious scent of warm buns or apple pie, to the sweet scent and feel of you.
Cuddles you after sex like it’s equally as important as the deed of getting you pregnant. He’s not just trying to apologize for being so needy and urgent with you, he’s actually bonding with you everytime you have sex. It’s like a ritual for him to hold you close and take in your soft panting and warm cheeks after he just made you cum no less than two or three times. You’re still not sure if this is a good idea, and you’re not sure if this man is even completely sane… But he sure as hell is adamant in making you feel good, providing for you and giving you the best sex of your entire life ❤️

Back to December
Tumblr media
Summary: When you arrive home, you're confronted with what you feared to be true. Tommy reassured you it couldn't be, it'd never be again but how can he deny you of what you witnessed with your own eyes. What could he do, when his wife won't come to an understanding that he would never put his family at risk like that and it was all a misunderstanding.
Warnings: mentions of infidelity, a lot of shitting on Grace, happy ending
Loosely based off "Back to December" by Taylor Swift
I'm so glad you made time to see me How's life? Tell me, how's your family? I haven't seen them in a while
The snow was coming down in heavy spurts outside, as the wind blustered throughout the air. You were sat at your kitchen table at your new temporary apartment watching the storm through the window as you sipped on your tea awaiting for Thomas to arrive to sign the papers.
December had passed, and now it was a new year, lonesome for you to say the least as you were trying to adjust to your new life on your own. The children were on rotating weekends with the both of you so it would be even, but you were sure they were having a hard time understanding why their mom and dad were no longer in the same house together. This weekend was Thomas’s and he had arranged for Polly to watch the children until this meeting was over which you were hoping would be sooner rather than later.
Seeing Thomas pull into your driveway, you poured another cup of hot tea and placed it on the opposite end of the table. Hearing him knock at the door you didn’t bother to get up and waste your energy for him so you shouted for him that it was open.
When he walked in, he was wearing a navy blue suit, a black trench coat draped over his shoulders. He had bags and dark circles under his baby blue eyes, he looked like he hadn’t slept in days.
When he entered the kitchen to where you were, with the papers sitting out with a pen he looked defeated. He couldn’t help but take in your beauty as your hair flowed freely and the sweater you were wearing fit your body snuggly while your feet were covered in fuzzy socks.
“You look lovely.” You nodded to yourself without thanking him and extended your hand for him to take his seat across from you.
“How’s your family been? I sent them a gift for the holidays, did you get my card?” Crossing your arms insecurely, you felt yourself begin to curl in on yourself as you brought your knees closer to your chest. Tommy believed this could be fixed, but you wanted him out of your life for good and it agitated you that he was still going at all lengths to win you back, and to make things worse every one in your family was telling you to go back, and didn’t understand why you would leave a man who cares for you very deeply and treated you well. You felt alone, no one was on your side. Your mother continuously told you to forgive him, your sister would make comments about how stupid you were for wanting to leave such a handsome, charming man that had money.
“Yes, Thomas I got it.” He winced to himself quietly. Ever since everything happened, you wouldn’t call him Tommy, you wouldn't call him the sweet nicknames you usually did. It made him feel like a stranger to you now, not of importance.
Your guard is up and I know why
Because the last time you saw me Is still burned in the back of your mind You gave me roses and I left them there to die
Tommy watched you painfully, your guard was up and he understood why, he was the reason. If he had just not let her into the house, everything would be okay, you marriage would still be in tact. It’d be wrong of him to not take the blame for this, his words meant nothing to you, and he wished they had. All of Birmingham knew of his relationship with Grace, she had always been a heavy weight on your shoulders, more-so because she had appeared in town again and Tommy told you there was nothing to worry about, and you had believed him. He took a sip of his tea, trying to find words to make you understand his point of view.
“I know what I’m here for, but I’m not signing our love away until you hear me out, please.” You scoffed in response and pushed the papers closer to him. He still didn’t pick up the pen.
Tommy didn’t understand, he’d never understand. From what you’ve heard around town and from fellow acquaintances of his, he was always the heartbreaker. You had just thought that you would have been the one that mattered to him, you thought that he was different than the rest and he just wasn’t given love, or affection as he should have been. The five years you had been married you never would’ve expected you’d be sitting across from Thomas in this situation.
“I’m going to turn the heat up, and start another pot of tea if you’d fancy more.” Tommy nodded as you walked off.
Entering the family room, you glanced at the roses he had, had delivered to you after that dreadful day. You didn’t want to start over, you didn’t want to move past Thomas but the image of that day still burned in the back of your mind.
~ Your pov ~
Pulling into the driveway, I had just finished an outing with Ada and I was exhausted, the girl could shop fo days. It was very generous of her to offer to watch the kids for the night, after all they had been missing their auntie. I was hoping Frances already had dinner made because it was an understatement to say I was starving.
Opening the door, I froze in my tracks. I was blinded by what I thought was impossible, by what he promised me was not going to happen.
I stood there watching as my husband’s lips intertwined with Grace’s, her arms wrapped around his masculine body that I thought was mine.
Who was I kidding? Grace was beautiful, and she was everything I could never be for Thomas. I lacked natural beauty, elegancy, and just simple etiquette at times. I could never compete.
He looked at me with panicked eyes when he pushed her off of him. I now knew where I stood, second place as usual. I didn’t need to say anything to make up my mind as I dropped my possessions to the ground and exited the house, I once called home.
Stupidity, and shame flooded over me, and I refuse to give Thomas the power to try to con me into staying but I couldn’t stop myself from turning and screaming at him.
There he stood having the audacity to look at me doe eyed, acting like he was scared to lose me. I should’ve listened to everyone who told me he would never be over her. He didn’t chase after me when I backed out of the driveway in tears while my body was trying to decide if it felt more sad or angry.
~
So this is me swallowin' my pride Standin' in front of you, sayin' I'm sorry for that night And I go back to December all the time
Returning to the kitchen, you opened your book and impatiently waited for him to sign and get out. Thomas took that as a sign you would not be hearing him out, so he decided to take matters into his own hands per usual. Grabbing the book from your soft hands, he slammed it closed, and tossed it to the side. “Y/N. I am telling you. I did not fucking kiss her. She kissed me and-“
“So that makes it okay that she was in our fucking home, does it? What difference does it make? Why was she in my fucking house Thomas! Why did-“ Thomas stood up out of frustration, pointing at your front door.
“She let herself in! I was upstairs, gathering laundry from the childrens rooms for Frances! When I heard the door fucking open, I grabbed my fucking gun and went downstairs and was blindsided with her in our fucking house! I tried kicking her out, and when you pulled in, she fucking kissed me when she heard your fucking car door close!” When he noticed, you were beginning to cry, he patted his suit down and took his seat once more, now feeling bad for yelling at you. He let you have a moment, he would’ve tried to soothe you, but he didn’t as he thought that would make things worse. When you were calm, he spoke once more.
“I’m truly sorry Y/N for that evening. I wish you had been there before she was, so you’d believe in me that I’m not lying to you.” You scoffed, in disbelief that he still would not confess.
“Thomas just sign the papers, please.” He hesitated before moving, contemplating in all the ways he could have handled this better. Slowly, he picked up the pen and begrudgingly signed on the dotted line. He slid the papers over to you slowly, and gently and you couldn’t help but notice his fingers shaking. “Thank you.” He nodded unwilling full. He removed himself from your house, when he tried to hug you goodbye you stayed in your tracks, looking away from him. He understood and excused himself.
~
Tommy’s pov
~
“What the fuck do you want Grace.” Slowly she approached him with lustful eyes. “You know what I want Thomas. I want to pick up where we left off my love.” She placed her hand on my cheek, and I felt nothing.
Grace was a chapter in my life, that had now closed, and I didn’t intend on extending it. I grabbed her wrist, throwing it to the side and pointed directly at her.
“No, no. You don’t get to fucking do that, what gives you the fucking right, eh? You were the one who lied to me, spied on me. That wasn’t love Grace. I’m happily married and I’m beyond grateful it’s not to you.” The sound of a car door closing outside caught both of our attention.
My wife was home.
My love.
Panic set in as my jaw clenched, I felt stupid for not kicking her out, but what was I supposed to do? Aim a gun at her.
I knew how Y/N felt about Grace, and I had told her everything about our relationship in the past. Now here I am, standing in my own god damn living room in my own bloody god damn mess. I was hoping to have her out by the time she had arrived back home.
“Grace, you need to-“ Before I could finish my sentence, Grace’s hands were on both my arms, pulling me closer as her lips clashed into mine.
“Honey I’m-" At that moment, I heard the door to our house close and pushed the conniving whore off of me, but I watched as the smile on Y/N’s face dropped in an instant.
Now here I was standing in a living room, looking like a complete ass. “Y/N, honey. It’s not what it looks like I-“ She hadn’t let me finish.
She shook her head in disbelief and dropped everything in her hands onto the floor, before exiting the house. I ran outside after her, and I didn’t look back to see if Grace had followed.
“Y/N! I-“ She had turned around quickly and strikes me across my face. That’s when I knew, I was going to lose the love of my life.
“5 years! 5 years and none of it mattered! Our beautiful children! The house we bought together! All over what! Huh!? Some irish whore who didn’t give a fuck about you until she had your money, and then moved onto the next!” I stayed quiet and I could feel my eyes begin to swell with water, as my body trembled. I followed her eyes that were staring a deathly hole into Grace and looked back to my heartbroken wife.
I would never put my marriage or my kids in the jeopardy of driving them away. If it weren’t for Y/N and our kids, I’m not sure my life would have any meaning. Whatever I said, no matter the truth or a lie I knew it would mean nothing to my sweet Y/N and I watched as she got into her car, driving away from me and our fortress we built together.
~
The drive home, Thomas cried. He had lost everything, once again Grace wins. He had his brothers take care of getting her out of town and they had threatened her if they see her again they will not hesitate to put a bullet through her head for ruining Thomas’s happiness after it took him so long to move on from her.
When Polly dropped the children off it was late which Thomas was partially grateful for because he was mentally drained. He thanked Polly and tucked the three of them into bed, kissing them on the forehead endearingly.
Walking into his room, he looked at the clothes you left behind that were scattered throughout the room. It had become routine for Tommy to sleep with what he had left of you, a different article of clothing every night. He took his place in bed and layed down, clutching his pillow and the sweater he had bought you in his arms, breathing in what was left of your scent.
When he went to sleep that night, he had slept in a bed of tears, once again. The only thing that brought him comfort was that you allowed him to take care of your children and to see them still. He just wished he handled the situation in a better manner, and he wouldn't have lost you.
Maybe this is wishful thinkin' Probably mindless dreamin' But if we loved again, I swear I'd love you right I'd go back in time and change it, but I can't
-
The next morning, you were dressed and ready to go turn in the papers. The brisk air of winter sent shivers down your spine as you were approaching the door to the courts clerk office. You were stopped in your tracks once Junie, yours and Thomas’s neighbor saw you. She was a sweet old lady, that you had been bringing meals to for quite some time so that she didn’t have to cook.
“Y/N! How are you? I heard about Thomas, such a shame Grace came back, no one really cared for her around here.” You nodded, shifting your lip awkwardly. This wasn’t exactly something you wanted to be chatting about. “I’ve been better.”
“She was always very importuning and demanding of Thomas, can’t believe she thought she could try again with him and succeed.” You thought to yourself what she could mean. “I’m sorry?”
“Oh, you know an old woman like me not having much to do, I eavesdrop sometimes. I saw that little twat make her move on your husband through the window. Speaking of, I haven’t seen you there recently Y/N, is everything alright.” The truth came crashing down on you like a wrecking ball. Your mouth subtly dropped as your eyebrows etched together in disbelief. Thomas was telling the truth. He didn’t lie to you. “Ugh- Miss Junie I think I need to be going. I- I will stop by later this week alright?” Without hearing her response you were rushing back to your car.
-
Tommy awoke to the kids bouncing up and down on the bed and he turned to look at you only to forget you aren’t there anymore. “Daddy! Daddy! Ada’s here! Can we go over to her house!” Thomas brushed at his drooping eyelids, still squinting from the morning light. “I- yeah of course you guys can.” Ada appeared in the door frame, and the kids rushed passed her to go get changed. “I figured i’d give you the morning. Take a shower brother. You can’t be in this slump forever. If not for yourself for them. They need their father. They love you y’know.” Tommy nodded and thanked her before sliding the blanket back over his head.
You glanced at the odometer as you were approaching 70 mph, swiftly avoiding the potholes or any bad ice patches. You felt like a terrible wife, shameful and guilty for not believing him your dear Tommy. You just hoped it wasn't too late.
-
Freshly showered and clothed. He headed downstairs and noticed Ada had left a note informing him of what time she would have them back by. He was grateful for Ada and Pol, always willing to help him out. He took a seat in the kitchen where Frances had cooked him a warm, hearty breakfast. He thanked her and placed his glasses on before opening the paper.
Before he could take a bite of his food Tommy heard a car sprint into his driveway, and he removed his glasses, and was standing up running to the window within seconds, gun ready at the side.
All movement in him stopped, time froze when he saw you in the drivers seat, quickly opening the door before running to the front of the house and hearing you bang on the door aggressively.
When he opened the door, he was worried something was wrong, you couldn’t have changed your mind. He took in your out of breath state, and your tear stained, red cheeks. The first thing that came to his mind was you were in trouble and he settled his hand near his gun. “Y/N, what’s wrong are you alright?”
“Junie she-she told me- she saw everything.” Without hesitating Tommy pulled you into his warm embrace once again as a wave of undeniable relief washed through him. Maybe Tommy should be thanking the old bat for eavesdropping all the time.
“I missed your sweet, beautiful smile. I haven’t slept in weeks with an empty half of our bed love. I thought I lost you forever. If I could go back in time and change it and just shoot her I would. She’s never, ever coming back here I made sure of it. It’s taken care of.” You didn’t want to know what that meant all you cared about right now was making up with your husband. “I’m- I’m sorry for not believing you.” Tommy combed his fingers gently through your hair, while tears of happiness began to stream down his now red cheeks.
“Darling I don’t blame you with who I was as a man before I met you. Just know Grace is history, in the past. She could never compete with such a gentle, beautiful soul like yours. I would never do that to you my love.” You looked up at him, your glossy eyes connecting with his.
You couldn’t stop yourself from jumping up into his arms and smashing your lips against his in an electrifying kiss that sent shocks through your body. You missed him momentously. Not wanting to break away, he took note that the door being open was sending snow in. He kissed you on your chilled temple before escorting you inside. “Frances just prepared breakfast and Ada took the children, they’ll be back this evening. Please join me.” You smiled in hopes that things could go back to normal, how they were before Grace attempted to split you a apart.
Before you made it to the kitchen you stopped him in front of the fireplace, papers in your hands. You threw them into the flames and watched them turn to dust. You needed Thomas to know that they weren’t submitted and were not going to be. He smiled at you gracefully, placing his arm around your shoulders.
The two of you stood there in silence, taking in that you were once again still a force no one could reckon with.

Okay. I absolute love ASW serie. And i have a request about the boy’s holiday concert and knowing what Eddie thinking when she arrived. 🥰
I love see you in my notifications. You’re the best 🫶
Ooh I’ve been so excited for this one! Been chomping at the bit for it to be Christmas time so @munson-blurbs and I could write it lol. Eddie’s mentioned before how pivotal of a moment this was in regards to how he feels about reader, so I’m very glad and thankful you requested this. I hope you enjoy ❤️
Words: 4.5k
[As You Wish masterlist]
Tumblr media
4:56. In four minutes, Eddie is supposed to take Ryan to school. The concert doesn’t start until 6, but kids have to be there early to warm up. He’s not quite sure how much a vocal warm-up will help second graders harmonize, but he’s not about to be the parent whose kid shows up late.
His wife apparently does not share that same concern.
4:57.
Brittany was supposed to be home to watch Luke; Eddie knows better than to drag him along any earlier than he has to. Ryan is nervous enough about his solo, and he certainly doesn’t need his little brother incessantly asking questions that will only fuel his anxiety.
4:58.
“Daddy?” Ryan comes down the hall with you following close behind. “Can you tie my tie?”
Eddie nods, tongue poking from between his lips as he kneels down and fixes his son’s tie. It’s still a bit crooked—there are minimal opportunities for him to wear one as a mechanic, and even fewer now that he and Brittany rarely go on dates—but it will have to suffice.
Tears gather in your eyes as you look at Ryan’s outfit, the red tie completing his white button-down, black slacks, and shiny shoes. “You’re so grown up!”
4:59.
You catch Eddie glancing worriedly at the clock. He’s changed out of his coveralls and wears a maroon button-down shirt, cuffed at the elbows, and pants that match Ryan’s. He’s absolutely delicious; the thought of being the one to unbutton him has sweat prickling under your arms.
“Ry, why don’t you go and get your brother?” Eddie says as gently as he can. Vaguely aware of the tension growing within his father, Ryan nods and heads off to do as he’s told.
As soon as the boy is out of earshot, Eddie mumbles, “shit” under his breath, and rubs his hand across his forehead.
“He has to be there by—” you start to ask but are cut off by Eddie’s exasperated sigh.
“Yes, we need to leave. Now.” Eddie takes a deep breath and his eyes trail over to you. “Oh shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to jump down your throat like that.”
“Hey, no, it’s okay,” you assure him with a shake of your head. “I completely get it. Brittany’s late, you need to get going, it’s stressful.”
“Yeah, Brittany’s late,” he murmurs more to himself before addressing you. “There’s no reason for me to take anything out on you, you’ve been nothing but wonderful.” His words send a pleasant tingle down your spine. As he takes a step closer, you look up at him beneath your eyelashes. “I’m sorry I snapped, sweetheart.”
“Really, Eddie, it’s okay.” Your hand comes up to rest on his shoulder, trying to emphasize your point. All it does though is leave both of you on pins and needles at the touch. “Why don’t you go ahead and take Ryan?” you offer, reluctantly bringing your hand down. “I’ll bring Luke by for the start of the show. This way you don’t have to try to wrangle the little monkey while you’re getting Ryan where he needs to be.”
Eddie’s brow furrows together and he eyes you warily. “A-Are you sure? Because I don’t have a problem taking on both of them. I’ll use a spare tie as a leash for Luke if I have to.”
You can’t help but giggle at the mental image that conjures. Luke would manage to get a foot or so away and Eddie would reel him back in like a catfish.
“I don’t mind. Really. Cross my heart and all.”
Eddie takes another moment to consider it and concedes as he nods his head. “That would be really helpful. Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me,” you say with a dismissive wave. “I enjoy the talks Luke and I have when we hang out. I always end up learning something new.”
“Oh yeah,” Eddie agrees with a breathy chuckle. “Has he told you that one milliliter of ocean water can contain about 10 million viruses? I got that one at dinner the other night.”
“He has,” you say with a soft giggle. “And yet, he still says going to the beach is what he always wishes for when he throws a coin in the fountain at the mall.”
“Are we going?” Luke’s booming voice precedes both boys as they come into the room. The younger Munson brother looks more annoyed than anything. He probably knows he’ll have to stand around and do nothing before he is forced to sit in an uncomfortable seat and made to listen to his schoolmates unwittingly butcher Christmas Carols.
“Nope, you’re coming with me,” you tell Luke, poking him on the top of his head as he walks by. “Daddy’s taking Ryan to school now and I’m gonna take you for the show.”
“Oh, good,” Luke says with a sigh of relief. Even Ryan looks a bit relieved; he knows it’s hard to corral his little brother.
Eddie’s also noticeably calmer as he prepares himself to leave the house. He pats his pockets, and the jingling of keys lets him know he’s got them. Another pat to his back pocket confirms he’s got his wallet as well.
“All right,” he says, looking to Ryan. “You got everything? We ready to go?”
“Uh, I think so,” Ryan says. He looks down at the secured tie around his neck and can’t come up with anything else he might need.
“Then let’s hit the road. We’ll see you guys later,” Eddie says, nodding at you and Luke.
“Bye, Daddy! Remember, don’t drive on black ice!”
Luke’s warning makes you giggle to yourself as you wave Eddie and Ryan out the door. Once the sound of Eddie’s truck has faded out of the driveway and down the road, Luke turns to you and places his hands on his little hips.
“What’re we gonna do?” he asks.
“Hmm.” You pretend to ponder over his question as you walk to the other side of the room and pick up your purse. “What about, we go up and get your nice clothes for the concert and put them in your Scooby Doo backpack.”
“Why?” Luke asks, wrinkling up his nose. The small boy has a lot of adorable quirks, but you’re pretty sure that one’s your favorite.
“Well, I was thinking,” you say with a shrug. “Nothing goes better with a Christmas concert than some cookies and hot cocoa. I thought you and I could go grab some at the cafe near my apartment. And I know you, you’ll end up wearing half the snack, so it’s better we don’t get you into those nicer clothes until you have to.”
Luke’s big blue eyes light up at the idea of the sugary confections. His head nods so quickly that, with his small shoulders, he looks like a Munson Bobblehead.
“Good idea!” he calls behind him as he races towards his room, nearly tripping over his own feet. “I’m okay!”
Tumblr media
The auditorium buzzes with excitement as you and Luke make your way down the aisle. Eddie sits in the front row, easily spotted by the mess of curls tucked into a low ponytail. His brown eyes nearly pop out of their sockets when he sees you.
“Oh, wow—I mean, you made it!” Eddie can’t help but gaze at the way your green velvet dress hugs you in all the right places. It’s flattering without even teetering on inappropriate for an elementary school concert. He recovers awkwardly but quickly, reflexively pulling at his collar to give himself more room to breathe. “Here, um, you guys take a seat…”
Luke bounds over to his dad, plopping into the chair between the two of you. Better off, Eddie thinks wryly, before I do something I really shouldn’t. He glances over at the handmade Naughty and Nice list propped up on the stage; if anyone could read his thoughts right now, he knows exactly where his name would be written.
“Daddy, I had hot cocoa and cookies! And the cookies had chocolate chunks in them. Not chips—chunks,” Luke clarifies, underscoring the importance of differentiating between the two.
You shrug guiltily. “Sorry, I needed a way to get him out of the house on time,” you explain.
Eddie laughs, ruffling Luke’s hair before turning to you. “Didn’t anyone teach you not to negotiate with terrorists?” But above Luke’s line of vision, he mouths thank you, the inaudible movement of his lips sending sparks to your lower belly.
Someone slides into the seat next to Eddie; you expect him to say that it’s taken, but he barely notices. Neither does Luke, and that’s what breaks your heart. Both he and Ryan are so accustomed to their mom missing important events that they no longer bat an eye.
The lights in the auditorium dim and the audience breaks into polite applause as the spotlights click on and teachers usher their small students to where they’re supposed to stand. You have no doubt this is part of what they practiced with the children being here so early, but there’s a handful of kids who still don’t seem to have a clue of what they’re doing.
Ryan is easy to pick out of the crowd. He’s one of the taller boys in his class so he stands up on the back rafter, a spotlight hitting his hair just so to make it look like a honey brown waterfall. Quickly, he catches sight of you as well and waves to you, his father, and brother as the rest of the kids are reaching their intended destinations on stage. Both you and Eddie acknowledge Ryan with small waves, but Luke whips his arm up in the air and waves it back and forth like he’s trying to signal a helicopter where to land.
Feedback crackles over the microphone on center stage as a teacher steps up to it. She clears her throat and shields her bespectacled eyes from the bright lights aimed her way. She taps once, twice on the microphone before she leans in to speak, short blonde curls falling in her face.
“Thank you, everyone, for joining us this evening for Hawkins Elementary School’s Festive Fun Holiday Concert.” There’s a small smattering of applause before she continues. “I am Mrs. Pierce. My class, along with the classes of Mrs. Lopez and Mr. Abrams, have been practicing very hard to bring you all a Christmas treat this evening.”
Luke has already tuned out the talking, his head on a swivel to take in all aspects of the small auditorium. He looks from the speakers to the light fixtures adorned with green garland, back to the kids on stage, then down the rows of the audience to see who all is there. You gently take his littler hand in yours and give it a soft squeeze. Just to ground him back in this moment from wherever his mind wandered off to. He smiles when you shoot him a wink and, now that the teachers are done talking, finds it easier to zone back into the show.
Tinny music begins to play over the speakers stationed around the space and it takes you a moment to place the song as Let it Snow. The initial singing by the children is jarring, but not nearly as off-key as you were expecting. Some of the songs are a bit rough, but some are surprisingly pleasant as well.
As the music transitions to the next song, you see Ryan take a step down from his rafter and make his way towards the front of the stage. He goes to one of the two microphones low enough for the children to access and waits. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer starts with all the children, but by the look of how nervous Ryan is, you’d wager that he has a solo coming up. His small fingers twist against one another as he does his best not to look out into the crowd. Though he’s naturally a shy boy, you can tell there’s some stage fright in there as well. It’s evident that his part is fast approaching when you see his little chest swell with breath, then release it slowly. Grinning from ear to ear, you watch as Ryan takes half a step closer to the microphone and opens his mouth.
“Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say,
‘Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?’”
A look of relief washes over Ryan’s face, but you can also see a bit of pride in the way that he smiles. And he should be proud! His small solo was excellent, and you can’t wait to dote on him over it later.
You glance over at Eddie; his grin stretches across his face so widely that you wouldn’t be shocked if his cheeks hurt. He catches you looking and turns his head slightly, one eye winking as if to say, thanks for being here for my kid. Thanks for being here with me.
And maybe it’s the way you giggle, or the way you make sure Luke is comfortable before easing back into your seat, or the way you cheer for Ryan like you’re at a stadium concert, but something shifts within Eddie. He’s always found you beautiful; tonight, you were downright stunning in that dress. It was the oldest cliché in the book: dad crushing on the hot, young babysitter. That’s how he’d managed to brush it off all this time. He was a man with needs, you were an attractive woman. Simple biology.
What he’s feeling now is anything but straightforward. He doesn’t just want to sleep with you; no, he wants you by his side at every school function, every birthday party, every moment of his life, big or small. And not as the babysitter; as his girl.
No, this is not a crush, and it’s not a cliché. It’s love.
Tumblr media
After the concert, both you and Eddie are excited to greet Ryan and gush over how well he did. The unspoken fear that you both have though, is that the seven-year-old will be heartbroken when he finds out that his mother didn’t attend the performance. While Luke fidgets where you wait outside of the auditorium for his brother, you and Eddie trade nervous glances as the kids start coming out.
“Where is he?” Luke bemoans after the third student comes out and it isn’t the one he wants.
Ryan comes barreling out of the red double doors, laughing with a group of his friends. The moment he spots you and his family, he waves goodbye to the other kids and dashes over to you.
Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Eddie holding his breath, waiting on pins and needles to hear what the first thing out of his oldest son’s mouth will be.
“I did it!” Ryan cheers.
Eddie sags in relief and even you feel unburdened of a weight you weren’t aware you were holding. The smile on Ryan’s face is pure glee and he’s practically jumping up and down on the spot.
“I’m so proud of you!” Eddie tells him, throwing one arm around the boy’s shoulders and ruffling his hair with the other. “You were the best one up there.”
Ryan’s cheeks turn pink at his father’s praise. Of course, you just pile on top of it, relishing in the way he gets embarrassed and overjoyed at the same time.
“My little George Michael!” you say as you pull Ryan in for a hug. His nose wrinkles up at your comparison but the smile on his face only grows.
Luke looks up at his big brother. “Y’know, I always thought it was froggy Christmas Eve.”
Despite his better judgment, Eddie asks, “bud…why would Christmas Eve be froggy?”
“I dunno,” Luke shrugs, “maybe Santa was delivering a lot of frogs. Or the reindeer got tired, so he had frogs pull his sleigh. Or—”
Eddie puts his hands on Luke’s shoulders and laughs. “All right, Frog Boy. What do you say we get home and celebrate Ryan’s rockstar moment?”
Everyone agrees to that, the four of you walking through the double doors and into the parking lot. Ryan takes Eddie’s hand, and Luke takes yours.
“Where’d you park?” Eddie asks you, and you realize he wants to escort you to your car. Heat creeps up your neck at his small act of chivalry. Part of you suspects that if you shivered, he’d offer his jacket.
Maybe if you were more courageous, you’d test that theory.
“Oh, um, over there.” You point towards your car, leading the way. You can feel Eddie’s eyes on you; protectiveness with a hint of possession. It’s lust with something you can’t quite put your finger on.
You dig your keys out of your bag, smiling triumphantly when you find them quickly. “I’ll see you boys tomorrow?” You laugh kindly, ruffling Ryan’s hair. “I’m so proud of you, Ry. You’re brave and talented.”
A blush settles into Ryan’s cheeks. “Thanks. Um, I’m glad you got to hear me sing. You’re the best.”
“Me, too,” Eddie chimes in, clearing his throat. “I mean, I’m glad you got to hear him sing, too. Not that I think you’re the best. Not that you’re not the best, because the kids love you, and you, um—”
“Hey, look what I found!”
Eddie has never been more grateful for one of Luke’s interruptions. “What is it?”
“Mistletoe!” The little boy holds something that is certainly not mistletoe above his head. “See?”
Ryan scoffs. “That’s a leaf.”
“And a very dead one at that,” Eddie muses, plucking the stem from Luke’s fingers.
A pout puckers Luke’s lips. “You gotta use your imagination!” he insists, taking the pseudo-mistletoe and jumping up and down between you and Eddie. “Now…you…gotta…kiss!”
“No, we don’t,” you and Eddie blurt out in unison.
“Yes, you do,” Luke indignantly sighs. “It’s the law.”
Before he can wimp out, Eddie swoops in and presses a chaste kiss to your cheek. Your skin tingles where his lips brushed against it, and you’re left speechless.
Luke, however, remains unimpressed. “That wasn’t a real kiss!”
“Yeah, well, that’s not real mistletoe,” Eddie retorts, trying to compose himself. “C’mon, let’s get home. It’s past your bedtime.”
Tumblr media
Eddie was hoping that the ride home would help lull the boys to sleep like it used to when they were babies. Ryan still has adrenaline going through him from the concert though, and Luke is feeding off of that energy.
They’re both talking a mile a minute and neither one of them quiet, but Eddie doesn’t hear a word they say because his mind is so focused on you. You offering to bring Luke to the school later when he had to bring Ryan. You in that curve-hugging dress. You showing up for Ryan when his own mother didn’t. You, with the softest skin when his lips brushed your cheek.
Realizing that he’s in love with you should make Eddie feel worse than it does. The guilt that’s gnawing at his stomach is somewhat abated by the fact that Brittany’s been screwing a litany of men for years. Does it make it worse or better that she probably had no feelings for any of those men? He’s not sure it’s possible for her to truly love anyone besides herself.
Eddie can’t help the smile on his face as he thinks about his feelings for you, though. The way you make him happy is something that he hasn’t experienced in years—if Brittany ever truly made him this happy at all. Everything about you brings joy to Eddie. Well, other than when he thinks of how much younger you are and how you’re surrounded by college age guys who must be tripping over themselves to go out with you. That provides him with a sickening feeling that leaves him dizzy. It’s much easier to focus on the fantasy of being with you, not the reality of where or who you might be headed home to tonight.
When Eddie pulls into the driveway, the boys are decidedly less quiet, though they’re still chatting away. Brittany’s car is parked there as well, sitting idly next to where Eddie’s truck now is. Eddie wordlessly gets out of the car and lets the boys keep talking about whatever it is they’re talking about as he walks with them up to the front door, the light dusting of snow floating down kissing their cheeks and noses.
“It’s late, I want you boys to head to your rooms and put your pajamas on, okay?” Eddie says as he unlocks the door. Both boys agree—begrudgingly, on Luke’s part.
Brittany isn’t in sight when they first step into the house, which has Eddie breathing a sigh of relief. He really shouldn’t be feeling that way about seeing his own wife, should he? Oh well, that ship sailed a long time ago.
The boys head down the hall and as Ryan passes the kitchen, he skids to a halt and does a double take.
“Hi, Mom!” he says with an enthusiastic wave. Eddie’s prepared for his oldest to launch into the story of how great the concert was and how much fun he had, but he just continues down the hall towards his room. Luke didn’t even stop to greet his mother.
Eddie drops his keys in the bowl by the door and shrugs out of his leather jacket. It’s slightly wet to the touch from the flurries that landed on him between the truck and the house.
If Brittany had just missed an event of his, Eddie wouldn’t give two shits or make a big deal of it. But this was Ryan’s big night, something that she should have wanted to and made sure to attend. Now Eddie feels the need to make a stink about it.
He wanders into the kitchen and slips his hands into the pockets of his jeans. As soon as he steps inside, he sees Brittany leaning against the counter with a glass of water in her hand, absolutely glaring at him. The look takes him aback. Why in the hell is he getting that look? She’s the one who has to explain herself.
“I can’t believe you,” Brittany says, further shocking her husband.
“I…what?” Eddie asks. He almost feels too dumbfounded to speak. It quickly crosses his mind that maybe she somehow figured out the epiphany he had about his feelings for you tonight, but if Brittany could read minds things would have gone downhill a lot sooner in their marriage than this.
“You left without me. You couldn’t even wait until I got home?” Brittany slams the glass of water down on the counter and takes a step towards him.
Eddie quickly checks to make sure the boys haven’t stepped in behind him before he raises his eyebrows and lowers his voice.
“Are you fucking kidding me? I did wait, Britt. I waited until the last goddamn minute. But Ryan had to get to the school, and I wasn’t about to make him late just because you couldn’t be bothered to be home on time.”
The sneer Brittany gives him could curdle milk.
“So now my son is going to think that I don’t care because I didn’t go tonight,” she seethes.
Eddie toys with the idea of telling her that he didn’t seem to care one iota that she wasn’t there, but he doesn’t want Ryan to catch even a smidgen of her wrath.
“You have a car. You know where the damn school is. Why didn’t you get your ass over there when you got home?”
“That isn’t the point!” she snaps. Eddie now knows that this argument has moved from rational and logic, to whatever bullshit straws Brittany can grasp at.
“Okay,” Eddie says, knowing full well he’s already fighting a losing battle. “What is the point?” He crosses his arms over his chest and Brittany mirrors the action, as if annoyed she didn’t think of taking up the offended posture first.
“That you didn’t wait for me. Your wife. I had to come home probably five minutes after you left!”
“And I told you why we left when we did. I also provided you with what you could have alternatively done, but that would mean admitting that you’re wrong and God forbid you do that.” Brittany opens her mouth, but Eddie shakes his head and cuts her off before she can say anything. “Fucking forget it. It’s late, I’m tired, I’m going to bed.”
Eddie goes to turn down the hallway towards the master bedroom when he realizes he never took off his boots. He stalks back to the front door and kicks them off, using the wall for balance. When his eyes flit back up from his feet, they catch sight of his jacket—and Brittany’s next to it. He narrows his eyes as he looks at them side by side. His is still wet from the melted snow coating it, but Brittany’s is wet as well. It’s not just the side where his jacket is brushing up against it, either. Eddie reaches for the arm of the jacket on the opposite side and feels that it’s just as wet as his own. If Brittany had really come home just after they’d left, there’s no way it would still be wet.
Dropping the jacket sleeve and letting out a huff of unamused laughter, Eddie shakes his head in disbelief. He shouldn’t be surprised, really. Brittany is no stranger to lying. She probably got home about five minutes before they did, but in typical Brittany fashion, had to spin everything so she’s the victim even when she’s the one in the wrong.
“Jesus Christ,” Eddie mumbles to himself. He rubs at his eyes as he walks back down the hallway. He’s way too tired to deal with any of this bullshit.
It doesn’t matter, he tells himself. I’ll just get ready for bed and then I can lay down and think about the woman who actually shows up for me and my boys—and try to imagine she doesn’t do it purely out of the goodness of her heart, and that she enjoys spending time with me as much as I do her.
He can hear Brittany talking on the kitchen phone, prattling on to her friend about how her awful husband cruelly abandoned her at their son’s holiday concert. Looking over at the empty half of the bed, he pictures you sleeping there. His arms would wrap around you as you whisper about how proud you are of Ryan or relay a funny tidbit from Luke. Eddie would kiss your forehead as you drift off to sleep, reveling in your beauty even as you slumber.  His own eyelids soon grow heavy with the day’s physical and emotional exhaustion. Before he falls asleep, he manages to eke out a wish to dream of you tonight.

HOLIDAYS WARMTH
summary: you meet levi's family for the first time during the holidays

“Are you sure they’re going to like me?”
“Yes, dummy. They’ll like you.”
A happy christmas song was playing on the radio, resonating in the car’s stereo as the vehicle was speeding down the snowy highway. You were leaning against the window on the passenger’s side of the car, watching as the snowflakes flew in the air. The driver’s seat was occupied by your new husband, Levi. He was busy driving the car for the past hour, and reassuring you about your first meeting with your in-laws, a subject that made you anxious ever since Levi announced that you’d be spending christmas with his family.
“But what if they don’t..?”
“Darling…” Levi detached his eyes from the road to look at you warmly. He reached to take your hand in his, keeping the other on the steering wheel.
“Listen. My family will love you. Just like I love you”
You rolled your eyes playfully, smiling and squeezing his hand. “Aw Levi, that means nothing, you’re saying that to comfort me.
“Well is it working?” he grinned at you.
“Maybe it is”
The car drove into town, as the two of you were getting closer to Levi’s childhood home. You were being quiet, calming your nerves. This was it, your first meeting with Levi’s parents. Levi became your husband a few months ago, and despite the fact that the two of you dated for a while before getting engaged, you never met Levi’s family. Levi grew up on the opposite side of the country, and he only met you because he had decided to move into your hometown, where the two of you went to college.
For that reason, you only talked to your in-laws during video calls, but never in person. However, you wanted for it to change, and so when your husband proposed to spend your first holidays as a married couple with his mother, uncle and brother, you immediately agreed, despite the fact that this was making you nervous. Terribly nervous.
You got pulled out of your thoughts when your husband parked the car in the driveway leading to his house. It was a nice, two-story suburban house. Totally a place you expected Levi to have grown up in. Your man got out of the car and opened the passenger’s door for you, taking your hand.
“Are you ready, love?”
“I…think I am.” you said, exiting the car. Your husband flashed a smile in your direction and went to pick up the different bags from the trunk. You took the moment to observe the house and to calm your nerves. It’ll be fine.
You took Levi by the arm as the two of you walked onto the porch, knocking on the front door. You felt your husband squeezing your hand, a silent gesture of reassurance. Soon enough, the door was being opened by a beautiful woman. Levi’s mom, Kuchel.
She was a pretty woman with long, raven black hair and dull grey eyes, just like your husband’s. She wore a warm expression on her face, delighted to see her son and his new wife.
“Hi mom,” Levi said with a soft smile. Kuchel smiled right back at him, bringing him into a quick and tight hug. You smiled at the sight, standing next to them. As soon as his mother released him, she turned to you.
“Hello! Welcome my dear, I am glad to finally meet you” her warm smile reassured you.
“Hello, Mrs. Ackerman.”
“Oh please," the woman chuckled, “call me Kuchel. Please come in, it’s freezing outside.”
The two of you followed Kuchel inside the house, leaving your coats and bags in the entryway. The interior of the house was just as beautiful as the exterior: it was warm and cosy, decorated with different portraits and christmas ornaments. There were plenty of family’s photos, and you smiled at a picture of Levi during his childhood. Even as a little boy, he had that familiar grumpy look that you knew all too well.
As soon as you stepped into the living room, you were met with the rest of the family: his uncle, Kenny, and his younger brother Furlan. You nervously followed your husband to meet the two of them.
“Oh Levi, is that your beautiful wife with you?” Kenny asked with a grin, shaking Levi’s hand before smiling at you. “I’m Kenny, this brat’s uncle. Nice to finally meet you.”
“Likewise! Levi told me a lot about you.”
“Oh he did, did he? I hope he told you the good stuff, eh Levi?” the man chuckled, flashing a teasing look toward his nephew. Your husband simply rolled his eyes playfully, ignoring the remark.
Very quickly, you familiarised with his younger brother Furlan, who looked a lot like his brother. The four of you were comfortably installed in the living room, in front of the warm fireplace. Levi was sitting on the couch, one arm around your shoulders and Kuchel on the other side, while the two other men were comfortably propped in armchairs. The ambiance was merry and cosy, and you were slowly getting more confident and comfortable with the Ackerman family. The evening was passing by quickly, as you all ate dinner and talked, laughter and joy filling the house. You had to admit, you had grown fond of them very quickly. Your husband, throughout the evening, watched as you smiled and laughed with his family, and the simple sight of you all getting along warmed his heart.
“Oh, y/n, dear, I forgot. I had something for you.” you tilted your head, curious, as Levi's mother said those words to you, You watched her stand up from the couch and reach for a package under the christmas tree.
“For me?” you asked, your voice full of intrigue. You noticed that your husband exchanged a grin with his brother, which left you a bit confused.
You smiled at Kuchel as she walked toward you, handing you a beautifully wrapped package. You looked up at her as she signed for you to open it. You proceeded with a little smile.
Your eyes widened as you carefully unwrapped the present. You were holding in your hands a red knitted sweater. It was big, warm and detailed. Not only dated, but your name was stitched on the front of the sweater. You looked up and saw your mother-in-law smiling at you warmly.
“Oh dear, don’t look so surprised. I have a tradition to make these sweaters for each member of the Ackerman family, every year. And you, my dear, are a part of the family now.”
You were speechless, looking at the sweater in awe. It was beautiful, and you couldn’t believe that your mother-in-law welcomed you so warmly into the family. You turned to Levi, who was watching your reaction. He chuckled at the look on your face and leaned in to place a quick peck on your forehead.
“Aw, love…Do you like it?”
“Like? I love it! Thank you, Kuchel…thank you everyone…” you said softly, the corners of your mouth turned up in a smile. Kuchel quickly leaned in to embrace you in a hug.
“You’re welcome, dear. We are all happy to see you join our family in such a way.”
You were overwhelmed with all the love you were receiving. You came here dreading this encounter, fearing that the family wouldn’t approve of you. What a wonderful way to show you that you were wrong. In that moment, you knew you belonged. Not only as Levi’s wife, but you also had your place in the Ackerman’s family, and that was undeniably one of the best christmas presents you could receive.

Please, Mister Miller? (FINAL) BFD!JOel x f!Reader
Tumblr media
Words: 6.0k
rating: 18+
warnings: Infidelity, slutty Joel, unprotected P in V, oral (F receiving), dirty talk, (including 'slut') , catching feelings.
a/n: started as a smutty one-shot and y’all wanted more! I hope you like the conclusion for these two. Unsure if I’ll do a one-off for them in the future. If not I think this is a real nice finale for these two desperate horny sluts.
masterlist here
---------------------------------------------
"It was so weird," Sarah tells you later that evening as you both finalize your packing. "Dad said he wanted to go for coffee and then he just comes out with this whole speech about how much he loves me and that he supports my choices and he trusts my decision making."
She shakes her head incredulously, a beaming smile on her face. She's sitting on the edge of her bed watching you pack.
"Wow," you say pretending to be shocked as you fold a pair of your jeans. "Did you tell him about Charlie?"
"Yeah. And he was so cool about it! Says if I'm happy then he's happy."
You feel your chest swell with affection for Joel in that moment. Because he could have ignored your suggestions, could have ratted you out. But instead he listened, he digested and he learned.
"See, I told you that your dad would be cool about it."
You look at your clothes tucked away in your suitcase, feeling a mixture of emotions. It's bittersweet to be leaving the Miller home. Not just because of Joel, but because this house is a home. Movie nights, baking, laughing. You can't remember a holiday like this one in recent memory.
Even with Conrad's family up in Vermont their holidays were more restrained, more about appearances. Here on Rancher Street everyone genuinely likes to spend time with one another. And yes, while it’s been fun fooling around with Joel you’ve enjoyed the laughter and hair braiding sessions in Sarah’s room as she tells you about Charlie or Tess offering to teach you how she makes her special peppermint squares so you can make them at home.
And as you sit beside Joel at dinner that night, marveling at the way Tess has made use of the leftover Christmas turkey you can't help but press your thigh into his with something like affection. He doesn't flinch, doesn't move away. He just continues eating and talking with Sarah and Tess seated across from you about returning to school.
"I'm not really excited to go back," she confesses. "Gonna miss everyone around here."
"You'll still have me," you joke, knowing very well that she's talking about Charlie.
"Very true," Sarah smiles. Tess launches into how much she misses Sarah around the house. Your attention drifts to the man beside you, the man who smells so fucking good.
The man who you are terrified you have real feelings for.
No. It can’t be real feelings. For fucks sake he’s just sexy and you want him. That’s all that this is. If you like him them you’re a piece of shit. He’s married. It was bad enough that you fucked him over and over. Falling for him would make you pathetic.
Very subtly under the protection of the ornate tablecloth Tess insisted on, you let your hand stray to Joel's lap. At first it's a gentle rub of your thumb along his thigh, then a pinky edging the area near his groin. You feel him begin to swell under your digit and you squirm in your seat delightedly.
At this point Joel shifts, trying to shoot you a warning look but you're ignoring him, pretending to be fascinated by what Tess has to say about the meal preparation.
"And how do you get the turkey so moist?" You ask, pretending to listen as she goes into detail about her meal while you're stroking her husband's cock through his pants.
You know why you’re doing it; it's a feeling of being territorial over Joel which is useless because he isn't yours. Joel Miller is married. He's your best friend’s dad. He's in love with his wife and nothing can change that.
You feel Joel's hand on your wrist, and you think he means to move your hand off of him. You almost hum when you feel him curving your hand to grip him around the head, tugging slowly a moment before pulling you off completely. The silent "later" implied in his actions.
///
"Let's watch a movie after dinner," Tess suggests on as the dinner plates are cleared by Joel. "All of us together."
"Sounds good," you say as Sarah agrees before looking at you. You nod in agreement as Tess goes to make the popcorn and Sarah says she has to call Charlie quick.
“Behave during this one,” Joel murmurs from behind you. You feel Joel's hand brush against your ass as you pass in front of him in the hallway, squeezing and you hold in a smile.
When everyone returns to the living room Tess flicks through the guide and you all decide on a cheesy hallmark movie to watch together. You sit next to Tess and Joel on the sofa, popcorn bowl on your lap and you watch the film and for once your thoughts aren't depraved.
You all tease Sarah for sitting too close to the TV as per usual. You laugh at the ridiculous and predictable plot. The only time Joel touches you is when he passes you a soda you requested and his forefinger drifts over yours.
"We're going to miss having you around," Tess says during one of the commercials. "We've loved having you both here."
Joel nods, his eyes on the television. You don’t let yourself look at him for too long. Instead you focus on Tess’ smiling face next to you. You give her a smile, feeling your cheeks pinking.
"Thanks. I really like it here."
Sarah flashes you a grin from her seat by the TV. You feel a strange feeling forming as you look from her to Tess. You didn't want to like the woman beside you, but you do. She's nice. She's a bit bland, but that's not a crime. You stomach twists as you think of all the kindness she’s shown you.
Guilt. It's finally arrived right on time.
The movie ends and Sarah announces she's going to bed. Tess does the same giving a stretch. Joel murmurs something about working on some work emails, pulling out his phone and tapping away.
You stand, going to follow Sarah but Joel grabs your wrist as you walk by, stopping you from sailing by him. You glance down to see him looking up at you, brow raised in question.
"We shouldn't," you whisper before extricating yourself from his warm grip. You don't look back as you head to the guest room.
///
Hours later you find yourself unable to sleep. The ache between your legs is almost as bad as the crack starting in your heart.
Joel. Joel. Joel.
It started as a casual fuck, a simple need to feel him everywhere. The connection was palpable from the start and when he'd finally given in? Eating you out on the table, fucking you in the guest room, the truck, it had been magic.
But it's not just the sex is it?
No, it's not. Thinking of a real life with Joel Miller makes your body break out in delicious shivers, prickling with desire. Imagining how it would be to fuck him without fear of being caught, to wear his ring, to cook for him, to have his arm around your waist as you go to the movies.
Fuck. You're so fucking stupid.
A glance at your phone tells you it's almost three am. You push yourself out of the bed, starting to pace around the small guest room before deciding that you need some fresh air.
The house is quiet and dark when you creep out into the hallway. You decide the garage will be a good spot to cool down without alerting the entire household and you slip into it.
"What're you doin' in here?"
You nearly jump back at the soft voice. You glance over to see a small light from the corner, hooked to a woodworking table. Joel is seated before the table, a scattering of wood and tools sat on it. He's looking at you with surprise.
"I'm sorry," you stammer. "I didn't think anyone would be in here."
"S' alright," Joel says, tilting his head inviting you to stay. You close the door behind you before shuffling over to where he sits at his workbench.
"What are you doing?"
"Wood carving," he tells you. "Relaxes me."
You remember when you’d noticed it earlier, the collection of tools and small figures scattered across the top. Your eyes don’t rest there long, they quickly move to Joel’s handsome face.
"Why are you carving at three in the morning?"
"Probably the same reason you're up wanderin' the house."
His dark eyes capture yours and you feel your body responding in kind. Your nipples tighten under your nightdress. Joel's gaze dips to them before he's forcing his attention back to the table.
You watch him sweep away the wood shavings, tidying up the area. It feels calm to watch him do this chore and not for the first time you muse that you would love a life watching Joel do domestic tasks.
"S' funny, after the first time I thought you were a fucking demon sent to ruin my life," Joel says quietly with a smirk, twisting the carving tool between his fingertips before placing it in the drawer. "Now I realize s'the opposite. You got me and Tess back on track, you got me and Sarah really talkin' and you made me feel..."
He trails off, looking shy until you gently nudge him with your shoulder, brows raised.
"Feel what?"
"You made me feel sexy again," he says unable to look at you as he does. The corner of your mouth hooks up into a grin.
"You really didn't think you were sexy, Joel?"
"I mean, I know I'm not awful to look at," Joel says chuckling embarrassedly. "Just... Ya know. You get older; feel like your best days are behind you..."
"Not the case for you, I promise."
Now Joel allows himself to look at you, his throat bobbing. A look comes into his eyes that softens around the edges.
"You are a special girl, you know."
"Yeah yeah," you say rolling your eyes and flushing with embarrassment. You're not familiar with praise like this; earnest and gentle and not whispered huskily as he comes inside you.
You go to head back to the guest room but Joel's hand reaches out and holds you by the hip. You prepare yourself for him to push you to your knees but instead he urges you lean back against the workbench, your body tilted back between his legs.
You breathe heavily, feeling his endless eyes studying your face. His head moves forward and you feel his soft mouth kiss the side of your neck. You whisper a sigh at the delicate sensation. Joel's hands slide under your nightdress, coming to curl around the hem of your panties.
You think of Tess and how kind she's been to you and a new surge of guilt overwhelms you. You pull back, immediately hating the feeling of being out of his orbit but knowing you shouldn’t keep going.
"Joel maybe we shouldn't-"
"Don't start pretending you don't want it now," Joel murmurs up at you. "S'too late for that and we both know it. Get these off for me."
You know he's right. You allow him to pull your panties down over your legs before stepping out of them. Joel shoves them into the pocket of his sweatpants. Your face heats up as Joel's pushes your nightdress up until he sees the shine of your sex already glossy on your inner thighs.
"Show me the rest."
You bring up your nightdress, bunching it under your chin, showing him your tits and smiling when he groans softly.
His head dips forward again, mouth coming to press a delicate kiss against your sternum. You feel your breath leave you when his hands slide up and come to cup your breasts before squeezing and kneading.
"Beautiful girl."
You let out a soft whine until Joel's eyes narrow on yours. He brings his mouth to your cheek.
"Gotta be quiet," Joel whispers huskily against your ear. "Everyone's asleep. Can you be quiet for me?"
You nod emphatically, urging his mouth to your breast, hand at the base of his skull, tangled in his hair. He smirks up at you before his mouth moves to your nipple, eyes closing as his teeth begin to worry the straining nub. You swallow your moan at the electric shocks that zap through you. He licks and sucks, working you up before pulling back.
"Can't wait any more," Joel whispers.
Then Joel is on his knees, kissing down your abdomen, your hips as you quiver under his touch. His hands hold you in place as he presses lust fueled kisses down your body, invisible marks that claim you. Then he settles there, kissing just below your navel.
"Wanna thank you for all you did for me," Joel rumbles. You hold in a whimper, allowing Joel to take your right leg and shift it over his shoulder, opening you to him. You watch as he slowly licks a stripe up the center of your cunt, eyes on you the entire time.
Fuck.
Your hands grip the edge of the table, eyes shuttering. Joel smirks, pleased with your reaction. His hands go over your ass, skimming there and tilting you so that his lips can graze against your labia more easily.
"So pretty," he croons, licking gently, his eyes falling shut as he savors the moment. "’N so fucking sweet."
He kisses your inner thigh so slowly and reverently it makes tears come to your eyes but you blink them back when he gazes back up at you.
"You're gonna be a good girl for me aren't you?"
His full lips curl into a smile when you whimper a soft yes and then his mouth descends over your cunt, tongue piercing you. You groan in quiet harmony with his hands tightening around your hips. He flicks his tongue against your clit, growling softly when you whimper at the sensation.
"Shhhh," he hushes.
You cover your mouth with your hand, hips undulating against Joel's greedy mouth. He feels so good, so hungry, so desperate for you. It makes your body tingle all over as his mouth works over your clit, sucking gently as you buck against him.
His fingertips dimple your ass, pulling your cunt now firmly against his mouth. He presses his lips there giving sloppy open mouthed kisses as your spine curls. His nose nudges your clit, rubbing as his tongue laps and flicks.
He works at you longer and your fingers twist in his curls. You force yourself to memorize everything about the moment. The way his eyes are shut lightly as he moans into your cunt, the way his hair is so soft under your fingers, his body so warm against you.
You soon edge your orgasm, feeling that fire being stoked higher and bigger. It makes your thighs tremble against Joel's ears and he smiles against your pussy.
"Joel," you whisper in a broken whisper. "I'm getting close."
"S'not my name," Joel says muffled from between your thighs.
"Gonna come, M-mister Miller."
"Mhmm," he offers between your legs as his eyes dart back to your face, his mouth still on your pussy. "Show Daddy how his good girl comes for him."
Your body tightens and Joel hums softly in approval as you come for him, your heart thundering. You feel your copious arousal being lapped up by the man between your legs who sighs as if this is all he's ever wanted in life.
You swallow the loud cry that has been building within your lungs and cover your mouth tightly. So tightly that when you remove them moments later their imprint remains like a ghostly kiss.
"Beautiful," Joel whispers, pressing his mouth to your cheek as he stands. "You did so fucking good for me."
The sound of his praise lifts you everywhere. You feel lighter, you feel joyful. You want so much to please him, to feel more of him, to make him feel as good as you feel.
"You next," you whisper huskily, kissing his earlobe.
"Don't need to," Joel says, shivering as your tongue comes to trace the flesh of his lobe. You hear him trying to muffle a groan deep in his throat. "Just wanted to make you feel good."
Your hand slides down the front of his sweatpants, hand gripping his already hard length and smiling as he curls into you. You start to stroke him through the fabric, your free hand on the back of his neck, twisting in his curls.
"We have to do something about this," you tease softly.
"You make me so goddam hard," he breathes against your temple as if this is shocking, as if no woman has ever made him this hard before.
"Good," you whisper against his ear, making sure to drag the last syllable before flicking your tongue over his earlobe. "Need you hard so I can ride you."
"Christ," Joel groans gently, his hips jutting forward into your palm. You drag your teeth down his neck, feeling his pulse under your mouth. He tugs himself free from his sweatpants and you can see the lust in his dark eyes.
Joel watches you move, lifting your nightdress over your head until you're there between he and the workbench totally naked.
"Gorgeous," he murmurs, eyes roving over your body.
His hands slide up to cup your breasts again and he lets his thumbs graze along your nipples, gratified by your little shiver at the sensation. He watches them pebble for him, his tongue coming to drag against his lower lip. Your hand circles the head of his weeping cock, tugging as you flash him your most innocent smile.
“Please fuck me, Mister Miller.”
Joel lets out a long shudder sigh, brows saddling. You lean forward to nip along his jaw, your eyelashes low and slowly blinking.
"Fuck me hard," you tell him, tilting him to sit on his stool. You're pushing his sweatpants down over his thighs and straddling him. "Give me something to remember."
"I can do that."
You hold in a squeak as he grips you around the waist and tugs your sopping cunt along his shaft. He slides between your legs slowly, extending the sensation of entering you. It's the last time and he wants to make it count.
He groans when you finally slide the rest of the way down his length, gasping quietly as he fills you. You sit on his lap like this, ankles crossing behind him.
You both don't move. You just sit there, Joel's cock buried within you throbbing. Your eyes search his face as his hands come to hold you by the lower back.
You finally shift slowly, rolling your hips slightly. Joel's eyelids flutter as you angle pelvis, milking him as you rock against him. His hands splay over your lower back, guiding your movements, his eyes where you two join.
"Feels so good," Joel murmurs, his eyes barely open.
Your arms wrap around his neck and you know he won't kiss you, so you rest your temple against his. It allows you to hear his shuddering breath in your ear and feel the fabric of his t-shirt against your naked chest.
"You make me feel so full," you whisper, hips rocking against his.
"Good," Joel breathes.
“Wanna stay like this forever," you mutter, eyes falling shut. His arms circle you, holding you a bit tighter against him. You shift once more, feeling his cock throb inside you.
Your lips graze his neck, dragging over the stubble of his jaw. He doesn't move, just keeps still when your mouth brushes his.
"I'm gonna miss this" you whisper. "Gonna miss this thick cock fucking me."
Joel groans into you cleavage, his hips starting to press up, and his cock nudging inside your walls.
"Don't know how I'm gonna survive without this pussy," Joel rumbles, his hands guiding your hips to continue rocking over him slowly.
"We could keep in contact," you offer, pulling back to search his face. "Texting?"
"Don't know that it's a good idea," Joel supplies after a beat.
"Maybe not," you agree, pelvis tilting. "Too bad. I'm really gonna miss you."
Then something changes. Maybe it's the realization that this is too intimate, to slow and sensual. Maybe you’ve shown your emotionally caught up hand. Whatever the reason Joel suddenly laces his hands under your ass and carries you over to the far wall of the garage. He presses your spine against the cool brick, his breathing ragged. He thrusts into you, your legs still crossed at the ankle behind him. You hold onto him, unable to tear your eyes from his handsome face.
"You'd really wanna text me?" He murmurs.
"Yes," you nod.
"Send me slutty little photos while I'm here with my wife?" Joel pants. "Make me have to go to the bathroom and jerk off? Be my dirty little secret?"
"Fuck yes," you say excitedly. The thought is turning you on so much and you can’t find it in yourself to hate it. "Yes I want that."
You hold onto his shoulders for purchase and begin to rut against his hips. He pins you to the wall as he begins to pound into you, his teeth clenched and his eyes on your mouth. You bite you lower lip to stop from crying out.
"Maybe I'll call you one night," Joel whispers against your ear, his full bottom lip grazing the lobe. "Tell you how to touch yourself. Hear those pretty little sounds you make."
Your head tilts back now at the very thought of it. Joel continues to rut into you against the wall, his thrusts going harder. But his hands grip yours, pinning them to the wall under his wide palms.
"Lemme see those tits bounce," he grinds out, eyes fixed on your jolting chest when he fucks up into you. "Uh huh, just like that."
A thought suddenly causes you to pale.
"The doors unlocked," you tell him as you remember. The Joel of you first time together would panic and would shuffle over and close it. This Joel just fucks you harder with a strange little smirk on his face that you've never seen before.
"Then I guess I'm gonna have to make sure you're quiet."
His wide hand goes over your mouth, sealing your cries of pleasure and it shouldn't turn you on so much but it does. The thrusting increases in tempo and the slap of your skin against one another is the only sound heard in the quiet garage.
"Thought about fucking you in here so many times," Joel admits. "Wanted to fuck you everywhere. Fuck this pussy raw."
He's grunting quietly as if he's trying so hard to keep himself from growling. His eyes are on yours, his pupils blown out.
"Use me," you tell him behind his palm, hips tilted and cunt glossy.
He does. His hips slam into yours so harshly it takes your breath away.
He pulls back to watch his cock sliding into your sopping cunt. He makes a wounded sound, his eyes blinking rapidly as if he can’t believe its happening. He’s completely overtaken by lust, his teeth clenching as he fucks into you brutally, his taut belly slamming into yours.
"You feel so fucking good," he groans against your ear as he bottoms out again.
He doesn't even care about your clit or your pleasure right now. He's chasing his own high, desperate for release and that makes your arousal flood over his cock. He notices and gives a soft nibble to your neck.
"You like me filling this pussy up? Using you like a little fuck doll?"
You nod behind his hand, your eyes cheating to the back of your head at the vulgarity. He keeps hitting within you deep, making your body twitch in delight.
"Take it all," he pants against your jaw. "Take all my fucking cock like a good little slut."
You whimper in agreement, wrists pinned to the wall by his hands when all you want to do is run your nails down his back, marking him as yours. You want this to happen over and over again. You want him to use you, to fuck you, to make love to you. You want to suck his cock and lick the come he offers you. You want him to fuck your ass because no one has before and you want to give it to him. You want him to have everything you can give him and you want it over and over.
His finger starts to rub over your clit, his breath huffing over your cheeks as he watches you. You were already so close just at the friction of his cock between your legs. But now, your eyes flutter open to fix on his.
“I need it,” he tells you.
“I know.”
You swallow your second release, your spine arching against the cool brick as you come for him. He watches all of this with saddled brows and the faintest whimper escaping him. You moan gently, eyes opening to see him still watching you.
He releases your remaining wrists so both his broad hands can go around your waist, holding you in place as his hips begin to roll. His cock circles within you, stirring your ardor for him. He's so gorgeous, so blissfully fucked out, rambling about how you feel so perfect around him. His mouth is parted as he groans gently, eyes starting to roll back as his head moves to your shoulder.
"Tell me you'll come see me at college."
You say it impulsively but there's an edge of desperation in your voice. But Joel isn't thinking, he's cunt-struck and his hips don't slow.
"I will," Joel groans into your neck. "Fuck, I will."
"Tell me you'll fuck me in my bed there," you say as he thrusts into you against the wall so hard you see stars.
"Yes," Joel whispers, head dropping against your neck as his hips slap against yours. "I'll fuck you there, baby. Fuck you anywhere you want."
Baby. Baby. Baby.
He's yours in some way. In some small incremental way he's yours. You don't know if he means it, but you think he might.
"Come deep," you groan softly in his ear. "Please, Joel. W-wanna feel you tomorrow."
"Yes," he pants out. "Gonna get my come good girl. S'all for you."
He begins thrusting brutally into you against the wall of his garage, hips slamming into yours, hands gripping your ass so tightly it aches. You feel him release with you, warm and thick. You watch his face, seeing the pinched look to his features before he relaxes and his head tilts forward.
Your damp foreheads press together as you both catch your breath, your breathing starting to slowly match in rhythm. Despite the circumstances it feels almost intimate.
He lowers your feet to the floor, arms still loosely around your waist. You stand shakily, your palms against his chest as you find your balance. You watch as he tucks himself back into his sweatpants and leans down to grab your nightdress from where it's fallen onto the floor. He tugs it on over your head, smoothing it over your body, his hands lingering.
Your eyes flutter up to meet his open gaze and without thinking you press your mouth to his. His lips are warm and soft. Joel pauses at the contact, about to pull away but then you feel him relent, mouth opening and his tongue seeking yours briefly. His hands begin tightening around the pinch of your waist but then he must remember himself because then he pulls back, planting a slow kiss to the corner of your mouth before straightening.
"G'night."
"G'night."
He nods, watching you leave the garage, heading back to the guest room.
///
He's nowhere to be seen the next morning. Sarah notices it first as she passes you a bowl of cereal. When her stepmom walks into the kitchen Sarah notices that she looks frazzled and is muttering to herself.
"Where's dad, Tess?"
"I think your dad has a cold," Tess says with a frown, patting at her pockets. "He's in bed. Says he doesn't wanna get you both sick right before you get back to school. Don’t worry I’ll be driving you two to the airport. Don’t want you missing your flight."
Your stomach drops. You won't even be able to say goodbye to him. No quiet thank you, no last image of his dark eyes on yours. Just driving in silence to the airport as you mourn a relationship that never was.
The three of you eat a quick breakfast before you load up your luggage into the car. You go back inside for your remaining belongings and any last minute things left behind.  Sarah asks you to take her hat to the car with you.
“I’ll be right there, just gonna say goodbye to my dad.”
You linger in the kitchen listening to the sound of his rumbling voice through the door and you think about waiting outside the room to say your goodbye as well. But it would look weird going into his bedroom to say goodbye. As far as everyone knows you barely know Joel.
Last night was your farewell to Joel Miller.
"Before I forget," Tess says to Sarah as you both load into the car. She reaches into her coat pocket. "Your dad made you this. Says he didn't want you to forget him while you were away at school."
Sarah opens her box and gives a little giggle. "Awww dad." She pulls out a small carved soccer ball. Sarah is at school on a sports scholarship so it's only appropriate.
“That’s so sweet,” Tess says with an indulgent smile. You nod, forcing a smile onto your face as well before looking out the window to the house. A part of you had been desperately hoping that his window blinds would be open, but no such luck.
You swallow your disappointment at having no tangible totem from Joel.  No artifact to take back with you. No physical reminder of what you two shared and so you sit in the car with your eyes downcast into your palms.
"And this one's for you."
Your head jerks up as Tess says your name, smiling warmly and handing you back a small box. "Joel said it was so you could remember your time with us."
"Thank you."
Your heart hammers and you hurriedly open it, unable to stop your hands from shaking. Tess and Sarah are busy chatting in the front seat, giving you a moment of privacy and you’re impossibly thankful for it.
When you peer into the small box you feel your chest grow warm. Inside is a beautiful and delicate looking carved piece of wood. You recognize it as what Joel was working on last night. You gingerly take it from the box, holding it to the light.
A snowflake.
You look at the little carved snowflake. The same design as the one from your skirt when you baked together. The day Joel gave in and initiated. Your eyes pick up on a small piece of paper folded at the bottom of the box with Joel's messy scrawl. You open it covertly in case it's something inappropriate.
A snowflake never falls in the wrong place.
And his phone number at the bottom, written in small script. You feel your waterline spill over as you read the words once, twice.
Tess puts the key in the ignition and a sudden clutch is at your heart. You swallow the lump in your throat.
"Shit, I forgot my wallet inside," you say. "Gimme two minutes."
"No rush," Sarah says with a yawn. "Tess always makes us leave too early for the airport anyway."
You scramble out of the car, your footsteps a desperate drum on the pavement as you rush back inside the Miller home. You throw the front door closed before scrambling down the hallway to his room.
"Joel!"
You whirl the door to his bedroom open and see him sitting on his bed much like the first time you two were alone. Only now he's curled in a seated position with his forearms on his knees and when he looks up at you in surprise his dark eyes are wet.
"What're you doin' here?"
He moves off the bed as you hold up the small carving he made for you. He softly smiles.
"You're one of a kind, Snowflake."
You let out a sob before you throw yourself into his waiting arms. Joel holds you tightly, chin on the top of your head, whispering soothing words.
"I can't leave you," you tell him through hiccupping sobs, tears staining his shirt. "I-I'm in love with you, Joel."
Joel makes a soft sighing noise and it doesn't sound like irritation or malice. It sounds like pain.
"I know it probably feels like that," Joel says, hands cupping your face so that you'll look at him. "But this ain't love, sweetheart."
"It is!" You insist. "I've never felt the way I do about you. I love you and you love me, don't you?"
"Honey," Joel says and it's in a voice so strained you have to look up at him. He's staring down at you, his dark eyes glassy.
"This is just connection," he explains tenderly. "And you'll have others, I promise. So much stronger than this."
And you know he's right. You've known it all along but nursed this fantasy of a life with him. A future. Connection. That feels right when he says it. It feels right to explain what's gone on here. But there's a part of you that can't let him go. Not just yet.
"Will you come see me at college?"
Joel is thoughtful, brushing the hair from your wet eyes.
"Not sure. Gotta think on that one."
You nod, sniffling. You want to say so much more but you hear Tess beep the car horn.
"I better go," you say pocketing the small carving and giving him a sad look. "Thank you for everything."
You step back, your eyes full of longing as you stare at him. Joel brings a finger to your chin, tilting your face more fully up. His dark eyes scan yours for what seems like ages before dipping to your mouth. You swallow a surprised gasp when he finally, blessedly presses his lips to yours.
It’s nothing like last night which was quick and needy. This is slow and unhurried, his hands going to your jaw and tilting so he can lick lightly into your mouth. You wrap your arms around his neck and whimper for him and he kisses you soft and gentle. Tess beeps the car horn once more and you two reluctantly break apart.
"You're welcome here any time," he tells you, stroking your tearstained cheek with his knuckle. "I mean that. And if you ever need anything you just call me. You have my number now."
His sincerity is so palpable you can't help but kiss the corner of his full mouth gently. His mouth chases yours, sweeping another full lipped kiss to yours.
Your hand goes to his chest over his heart, needing one last touch as if proving to yourself that he was real.
"Thanks, Mister Miller."
He smiles. "Call me Joel."

January 2024
Playing with the Ring on your finger you were nervously standing outside of a meeting room in London Colony. You still couldn’t believe that you were actually here. Standing in the Arsenal training gear, waiting that you were allowed to go into the room where all your new teammates were sitting.
It was the first team bonding night with all the new signings you included. Only difference being that no one besides Kim, Leah and Lotte knew that you had signed. Besides the fact that it was a last minute signing you also wanted to surprise Lessi. You still couldn’t believe that you had actually made it this long. Your relationship was stronger than ever eventho still no one besides your old College-Teammates, family and best friends knew of your relationship let alone about your engagement last summer.
After being knocked out of the tournament in the round of sixteen you where incredible frustrated and blamed yourself endlessly, being one of the penalty takers who missed there shot resulting in Sweden advancing to the quarterfinal. But you decided to be there for Alessia whose journey with her national team wasn’t even close to over. You supported her from the stands until the final step. Reaching the Final wa a dream come true for your girlfriend that sadly ended in tears. Under the cover of being close friends to both Alessia and Lotte you were allowed on to the pitch where your Girlfriend collapsed into your arms. “I am so endlessly proud of you, Baby.” You had whispered into her heat holding her close. “It hurts so bad. I should have done more. I am the striker I should score the goals.” “I know it hurts right now and that you want nothing more than blame yourself but I can tell you tomorrow you are going to be so proud of what you achieved. You did something special.”
Over the curse of the night the mood changed in all the England players like you predicted. After the party and the rush back to England where Alessia had to train with her new team for the Champions League qualifications you decided that you both needed a rest. So after the Qualifiers that siding went like plan for Arsenal, you went on holiday together. Italy to be precise. Alessia showed you all her favorite spots and took you to dinner in the best Italian restaurants you ever visited. After one late night date you both strolled down an empty beach until you reached a little area where candles were set up. With a questioning glance you turned around only to find Alessia kneeling before you. Gasping you looked at her tears already streaming down your face. “You know I promised you that one day I would go down on one knee. We went through so much together. And I know with the long distance it’s not always easy but you are the most beautiful, special and loving person that I know. I can’t imagine life without you and I don’t think I would even be standing here right know without you. You are my missing part, my best friend, my love. Like we always said. Together we take one the world. Would you take on the next big adventure with me and do me the honor of becoming my wife?” While Alessia spoke a few tears also escaped her eyes and you could clearly see all the love you felt for her reflected in her eyes.
“Yes. A thousand times yes. I love you so much.”
You were pulled from your thoughts when the door opened and Lotte stepped out of the room and in front of you. While pulling you into a hug the brunet expressed her excitement. “I still can’t believe you are actually here. Alessia is going to be so happy and excited once she realizes.”
Your transfer happened really quickly with Arsenal already being interested in you last summer but with your contract still up with FC Courage and your belief in winning the NWSL with your team which you to the surprise of a lot of people did, you and your old club declined. It was a really hard decision because you knew that Alessia was signing with the London Club and after now almost four years of long distance you were tired of it. And when the end of the winter transfers window neared and no WSL Club showed interest in you, you started to regret your earlier decision. Just before you put pen to paper at Gotham once more Arsenal resurfaced. With that the decision was made and here you were.
“UNC Girls back together right?!” You laughed. With Emily also signing there were now four former UNC Players at the Club.
You noticed Lotte spotting your guitar that was still in its bag. “What’s your initiation song going to be?” She asked.
“Not telling you. It’s another surprise for Less.”
“You two are still disgustingly cute you now that? I thought after four years it would subdue but I guess not.” Lotte laughed. “Come one I think it’s time. Everyone else has already done their initiation. I’ll go in first and give Leah the signal. You just come in behind me. There is another sliding door that’s not completely closed you can see into the room, but Less won’t see you.”
You nodded and followed Lotte to the sliding door. You could see the girls sitting on different round tables chatting and snacking on sweets.
When you saw the blonde locks of your girlfriend you couldn’t help the smile. It was still so good to see her eating carefree.
The first few months after Alessia went back to England worked surprisingly good. You once again called at least once a day. Talking and just being together. But soon you noticed that something changed in Alessia. Her eyes lacked that twinkle and her smile didn’t feel real. You noticed her loosing weight and skipping meals. Where you once had cooked meals together she would say that she had already eaten. When she completely ruptured her hamstring only month after coming to Man U it all got ten times worse.
Her hair got dull, you could start to see her cheekbones and collarbones.
You tried to talk to her but with no result. She always told you that everything was fine and that she was feeling great besides her hamstring Ofcourse. So you decided to take matters into your own hands. Talking to your teachers and Coaching stuff you were allowed to leave for winter break a week earlier and booked a ticket to Manchester. You asked Lotte for Ella’s number who helped you surprise your girlfriend.
And it was the best decision you could have made. Alessia was so happy to see you and within two days she broke down in your arms.
“I think I need help.” She had sobbed. “I… I am so scared to eat. At first I just counted my calories but I know what I do is not healthy anymore. I thought I looked better but then my hamstring happend. I know my body isn’t strong enough but I don’t want to gain weight.” You had tried to console her the whole night. You told her that she looked beautiful, that you loved her and that she wasn’t alone.
The next daythe two of you talked to her team psychologist. You were there for her the whole time. And slowly over the next two weeks you watched her smile return. She started to cook for the two of you. Healthy foods without measuring the calories. Sometimes it was harder for her sometimes it was easier.
Sadly you had to go back to the US shortly after New Year but you still cooked together over FaceTime and eating together afterwards. Sometime Alessia would fall back to old habits and trying to skip a meal but you were always there to help her through it.
“Guys! I need your attention once more. I know you all thought that Emily and Sarah were the only signings but we’ve got one more surprise. She plays for the US national team. Has just won the NWSL with courage and is another addition to our UNC Squad.” While Leah introduced you, your eyes were solely on Alessia. You could see how she slowly figured it out and when it finally dropped she gasped. Hand flying to her mouth and tears starting to appear in her eyes.
“Y/n it’s your stage.” Leah waved you in. It was planned that you would right away start to play your song.
You came in playing the accords on your guitar. As it was an original that only Alessia knew a few pieces of there was no back up music playing.
“Hey guys. This song is an original piece that is really special to me. I wrote it about my relationship to a very special person. I hope you like it.”
Alessia was already in tears. Lotte had sat herself next to her pulling her into her arms. Emily as well was sitting next to your girl. She grinned at you. Smiling you started to sing.
“Just say the word
We'll take on the world
Just say you're hurt
We'll face the worst, oh
I can see, see the pain in your eyes
Oh, believe, believe me, and I have tried
No, I won't, I won't pretend to know what you've been through
You should know, I wish it was me, not you”
You would never forget the pain in Alessias eyes when she told you about her grandfather. How you had wished to be the one in pain. You never had lost someone so close to you before but you desperately wished you could take the pain from Alessia.
“And just say the word
We'll take on the world
And just say you're hurt
We'll face the worst
Nobody knows you the way that I know you
Look in my eyes, I will never desert you
And just say the word
We'll take on the world”
From the beginning of your relationship the both of you sticked together. No matter how hard the way was. You trusted each other. Now for years later you only needed to look at her to see what she needed. Yes you both knew each other better than anyone.
“And it's the fight
The fight of our lives
You and I, we were made to thrive
Oh, yeah
And I am your future
And I am your past
Never forget, we were built to last
Step out of the shadows and into my life
Silence the voices that haunt you inside”
Long distance was hard. But you always made time for each other. Both leaving everything behind to sea the other in person if needed. Never once thinking that you weren’t meant to be.
And just say the word
We'll take on the world
And just say you're hurt
We'll face the worst
Nobody knows you the way that I know you
Look in my eyes, I will never desert you
And just say the word
We'll take on the world
We'll take on the world
Oh, oh, oh, oh
And nobody knows you
The way that I know you
And nobody knows you
The way that I know you
“We'll fight, we'll crawl, into the night
I won't let go, with you by my side
The calm, the storm, we'll face it all”
Of course there were fights but never for long. You promised each other to never go to bed angry. You were just better together.
And just say the word
We'll take on the world
And nobody knows you
The way that I know you
Look in my eyes, I will never desert you
And just say the word (just say the, just say the word)
We'll take on the world
Take on the world”
Slowly you let the sound die out. Alessia had stood up once you were finished and you put down your guitar. Opening your arms she run to you. Catching her in your arms. “Is this for real?” She whispered in your ear. “Yes Baby. I signed my contract last week.” She laughed and pulled you even closer. “Can I kiss you? I don’t care if anyone knows. We are finally together and I want everybody to know who my beautiful fiancée is.” Instead of answering you, she kissed you, hard.
Wolf whistling sounded around you but the both of you didn’t care. “How I missed this, how I missed you.” The blonde whispered before pulling away from you but still touching you.
“Care to explain Russo?” Asked McCabe and your girlfriend laughed. You already knew a lot about your new teammates due to Alessia and also Lotte, so you weren’t surprised by the women’s comment.
“So guys this is Y/n she played together with Lotte, Em and myself at UNC. And she is my fiancée, we have been together for four years now.”
A lot of questions came your way but you didn’t care not a bit. You were just happy to finally be with your girl.

A Very Ask A Manager Thanksgiving
So I love advice blogs (I maintain that comment sections on advice blogs are the best free tool for writers to explore different viewpoints, which really enriches your characterization), and for a few years now, I have had this idea that I want to do a do an Ask A Manager themed dinner, purely to delight myself. Meant to do it as a cookout this summer, but timing never worked out, so I broached the idea of doing it for Thanksgiving. My partner, who is also a nerd and therefore very supportive of my advice blog love even though it is not one of their interests, was down, with their only condition being that I should still make my cider bread with maple butter.
The menu:
Appetizers
Chips with:
Guacamole in honor of Guacamole Bob, of "ordering extra guacamole is wasteful of member dues” fame. (This being on the menu may also have been a factor in Partner being willing to have our holiday take on an Ask A Manager theme, as I once took a community education course on grilling that taught me nothing about its ostensible subject matter but did teach me to make a bomb-ass guacamole. The secret is that your first step should be to pulverize an entire head of garlic into a paste in your mocajete.)
Tumblr media
Three store bought salsas, where the trick is to "fold" the salsa to get the best flavor
Tumblr media
A bottle of hot sauce so we can get fired after a coworker steals our spicy food
Tumblr media
Main Course
"Duck club" sandwiches in honor of the secret office sex club where you get points for sex in different locations, and quacking is involved. (These were very decadent and if anyone's interested in a great duck recipe, I used the Duck with Lemon recipe from A Feast of Ice and Fire.)
Tumblr media
Sides
Cheap-ass rolls that I definitely deliberately brought to upstage you, yes you, the person who signed up to bring Hawaiian rolls! It's definitely not an overreaction on your part to declare that "they can all take Santa and stick it up their ass!" You're definitely not getting fired for being wildly hostile! (These are actually homemade rolls, but I weighed "buy actually cheap rolls and be done" or "spend a couple hours adapting a corgi butt roll recipe to a human butt roll," and chose in favor of the pun.)
Tumblr media
Dessert
Bribery cupcakes, from that time a letter writer brought some cupcakes over to chat with her neighbor, the son of the Chief of Police, about a disruptive noise issue in her workplace and some commenters decided this constituted bribing a public servant. (The recipe is in the comments on that link; I made the carrot cake version. However, I realized halfway through that I was somehow low on vanilla despite obsessively buying fancy vanilla extract every time I am in a spice shop, along with a bunch of other things I don't need because buying cool spices makes me feel like a wizard. Anyway, half of these had vanilla in the filling/icing, and the other half had cardamom extract.)
Tumblr media
A birthday cake that somehow crosses boundaries by...being too fancy? Being paid for a staff person? Not involving the wife in the planning? Anyway, the real answer to the letter writer's question is, "Eh, I don't think it's a big deal" because different offices have different norms around birthdays and it's whatever, but sometimes a low-stakes office norms question hits just right and you get 630 comments of people debating The One True Way to Do Office Birthdays, and whether or not buying a cake means you're angling for an affair. (Okay, not all the comments are about that particular letter. Anyway, I picked up this fancy-ass cake at Marc Heu Patisserie, and appropriately enough, the guy ahead of me in line was picking up a cake for his boss.)
Tumblr media
And of course, what Ask A Manager column would be complete without chocolate teapots?
Tumblr media
Beverages
Mudslides, because "girls love chocolate." And magic tricks. And being played "You're So Vain" on the piano with a mournful stare. Partner and I are both notorious lightweights but I had been snacking all day as I cooked so I was mostly immune. Partner took one sip of this drink and immediately began loudly telling me how their one colleague doesn't sing enough to his Pre-K students, and "this classroom will do anything if you sing to them!" After dinner, they lay down on the floor and sang the Slippery Fish song.

It was his worst nightmare come true. Well, maybe not his worst, that was one he hoped would stay tucked into the recesses of his mind for all of time. But this definitely made the list, without a doubt. Several years ago, it would’ve been an inconceivable one, but now, knowing what was waiting for him at home, this was the absolute worst.
“Are you going to be home for Christmas?” Her voice rang through the line as clear as a silver bell.
“I don’t know. I hope so. But…” Spencer allowed himself to fall back onto the bed he had been sitting on, trying to imagine he was home for this holiday. In his mind, he could see it as clear as he did when he left their home two days ago, the Christmas tree they had spent an afternoon decorating, the garland lining the stairwell that had been entwined with warm white Christmas lights, how the whole house smelled just like a Christmas tree farm and some cinnamon.
Spencer hoped that if the fates had any sway and any favors they could pull for him, maybe this would be the one. “But?” She had caught onto the sentence he didn’t finish, his mind lost in remembering.
“Well we haven't had any victims in the last three days and what we have isn’t conclusive enough or worse, it’s just not enough.”
“Oh.” He was staring at the hotel ceiling above him, getting visually lost in the scalloped pattern of what was above that he missed the defeated look on her digital face.
“And I don't want to wish for another victim, not a few days out from Christmas, but if we don’t get enough evidence we’ll have to close the case and go home.”
“Would you be here for Christmas?” The voice she used was relatively small, knowing at its core, it was a selfish desire: to have Spencer home for Christmas when people in another town needed him to stop the unsub. But there were only so many childhood Christmases for their daughter, and there was nothing more important in their lives than her.
“I mean maybe, but we would just have to come back out when the next victim shows up and I don’t want to leave if he’s still out there.”
“Is it possible he’s tied up in holiday festivities?” On her end of the call, she was moving about the kitchen, preparing a late night cup of hot cocoa as she listened to him, knowing she was sharing his attention with the details of the case.
“I mean maybe but…” His voice trailed off again as he slowly sat up, his memory deep diving into the facts of the evidence board and how that situation had never been entertained, how they had never considered with the holidays their unsub might be busy with festivities.
“Spencer?” She called to him, making sure he was still there or that the call hadn’t dropped.
“What if he’s tied up in holiday events and- I gotta go.” Pushing himself off the hotel bed, he ran towards his satchel, forgetting his phone on the sheets. With a view of the ceiling, she called for him one more time.
“Spencer?”
“Yes?” Crossing back over, he looked down to his phone so she could see him one more time for the evening, a smile forming on her lips as she knew they might’ve just had the breakthrough he needed. Whether he would get home in time for the holidays was one thing, whether he would save a town from future torment was another matter entirely, something she knew he was perfectly capable of.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” Her words had given him the hope he needed, that electric spark of an idea that could carry him through the next few hours of re-evaluating the case enough to feel like he might actually be able to go home. “I’ll be home for Christmas. Promise.” Even through the phone screen, he could see the tears that had built along the bottom of her eyes, the smile she tried to show just for him, and he hoped against everything, that her beautiful and brilliant mind had given him the breakthrough the case so desperately needed.
-
“What?” Penelope yawned over the speakerphone, stumbling into her office that morning with Spencer five cups of coffee deep into his complete reanalysis of a case everyone was nearly ready to close, unsub known or not.
“We need to look at individuals who would be tied up with holiday festivities right now. Craftsman working on the local parade or theatre performances, someone who would have access to the tools and skillset but have virtually zero free time right now due to holiday obligations.”
“Spencer, it is six in the morning there, did you sleep? At all?”
“I got four hours before midnight and I can sleep on the jet.” He rattled off in a half breath as he added new notes to the map on the evidence board. “Okay, how many of the churches are hosting or have already hosted Christmas events this month through New Years?”
“Uhm…” he waited for her numbers, hearing the incessant typing of her keyboard, “Jesus, you’re definitely in the south. Within the city limits, 43.”
“Out of city limits?”
“52.” His attention focused in on the pins where the latest victims had been found compared to where the churches and local theaters were. “Spencer?”
“What about-”
They carried on like that for another hour until finally, they had narrowed it down to one guy. Their unsub had split time between three churches and a local theater, one victim tied to each community and within a few hours, they had their warrant and had arrested him before he could even wake himself up that morning. He was pulled into questioning which unfortunately did take all day, but by the time paperwork was finalized and evidence collected by evening the next day, they were on their way home to spend Christmas Eve night with their families.
The jet ride back that night was nothing remarkable, everyone choosing to sleep or keep to themselves this trip. And he was right. Spencer Reid did sleep on the jet the whole way back to Quantico. But the warmth he found in his sleep on the jet would soon vanish as the cool Virginia air greeted him with a vengeance that night, just as the team shuffled from the jet to the SUVs. The ride back to the office was quiet, but no one could continue their naps from the jet. All anyone could do was think about the families waiting for them back home, families waiting to start the holiday festivities.
“Look.” JJ had whispered to Reid at one point in the drive, her hand extending her phone to him in the backseat from her spot in the passenger seat. “Will and I agreed the boys should open one present tonight.” The video, once Spencer held the phone in his hands, was of Henry helping baby Michael open a box that sat on the floor between the two. He didn’t quite catch the content of the present with the shaky filming and glitching pixels, but he smiled over his godsons nonetheless.
“Wow.” Spencer let himself marvel aloud as he passed the phone back to JJ, trying to fight the yawn that was lingering at the back of his mouth. “Are they waiting up for you?”
“Henry is but Michael fell asleep early tonight. Will said they’d watch Elf and the Grinch until I get home though.”
“That’s not going to delay Santa Clause?” The look in his eye was one of knowing, a near twinkle of mischief.
“As long as milk and cookies are out, Santa will be fine.” Spencer could see the fond smile on JJ’s face in the light from her phone screen before she put it away in her pocket, looking back to him then. “What about your house? Do you think they’ll be awake when you get home?” Spencer tried not to think too hard on the possibility. He knew the schedules, he knew the odds, but part of him hoped he would get what was left of Christmas Eve with them, even if it just meant a five minute bed time story with Autumn and then one mistletoe kiss with his wife before they both passed out for the night.
“I hope they’re awake. But it’s late anyway so they’re probably asleep.” He felt how the possible reality affected him, but he hoped against everything he would get to see them just once before Christmas morning.
-
Normally when they got back to the office building, they were dismissed until the next business day. And he thought Hotch would especially excuse them as they both had kids at home. But something wasn’t right. As they piled out of the vehicles, Hotch required everyone to return to the 6th floor. He wouldn’t say why, and if anyone had a chance to ask, all they were told was “some paperwork cant wait for the next day.”
Spencer was the first one off the elevator, noticing how the time clock over the bullpen read the time to him, almost mocking him. 10:43. He did take a moment to glare at the ticking thing, setting his satchel down into his computer chair as he rubbed at his eyes. They opened to notice one thing was different, one thing that didnt sit right in his mind. He couldve sworn the roundtable room blinds were always open, never closed unless there was an important meeting. And he could've also sworn the picture frame on his desk with their family Christmas photo had been on the right of the computer, not centered along the right side. “Hey, H-“ He couldn’t finish calling to his boss, a commotion behind him taking his attention.
“DADDY!” His head spun trying to find her voice, knowing it anywhere. The one voice that could get him to shed his FBI exterior and leave his heart open. Turning around, he saw the blur of her hair and holiday dress as she ran down the steps to him, his body immediately bending down to scoop her up. “Daddy you’re back!” Her voice cheered into his shoulder as he pressed a kiss to the side of her head, spinning them around for effect. She giggled profusely as he looked back to the roundtable room, now seeing (Y/N) waiting just outside the door, hand over her heart as the scene unfolded. He motioned for her to come join them, quick to notice how she wiped away tears as she rushed to be with them by his desk. Holding tighter to Autumn, he pulled his wife in for a hug, also placing a kiss to her hair before deeply inhaling, renewing his memory of her scent.
“You’re here.” He breathed out in a whisper, squeezing her body to his.
“Penelope called. She wanted you to have your family for the holidays.” Looking once more to the roundtable room, he saw Penelope as she stood along the railing, a gentle wave to Spencer as he held his girls in his arms.
He mouthed a thank you to her before pressing another kiss to (Y/N)’s head, Autumn resting her head against his.
“Daddy?”
“Yes sugar plum?”
“Can we go home now? We’re going to miss Santa.” They both laughed as they hugged her closer in their little family huddle, evermore appreciative that they got one more Christmas as a family.
-
The drive home was exceptionally quiet, Autumn running out of energy before they even left headquarters. Spencer’s hand didn’t let go of (Y/N), thumb rubbing slow circles into the top of her hand as he watched her driving. “I love you.” He mumbled, in such a tired daze from the last few days.
“I know.” Squeezing his hand, she spared a look at him at the red light, no other cars at the intersection. “I love you Spencer.” Just as the light turned green, she noticed how his eyes fluttered to a close, the smile still present on his lips. “Seriously?”
“I’m just so happy.” He hummed, opening his tired eyes to look at her in the passing street light.
“Yeah, and you can’t fall asleep right now because you’re carrying her inside. I can’t carry both of you into the house.”
And he did just that. When she parked their car in the parking lot, Spencer was quick to get out to open (Y/N)’s door and then gently opened the door where Autumn’s seat was, careful not to wake her. While he carried her into the building, (Y/N) made sure to get all the doors in their way, hoping Autumn would stay asleep from the car to her bed. As soon as she hit the matress, her hands did reach up for Spencer as he gently removed himself from her hold, but he quickly reached for the custom teddy bear they had gifted her for when he was away on a case, and she snuggled up to it like it was good enough. Holding (Y/N)’s hand, they both tried to commit to memory the serenity and peace of their daughters room before closing it for the night, quietly walking towards their room now. “What time do you think Santa will come?” She asked as she took off her evening clothes to get into her pajamas, sitting on the bench at the foot of their bed as she waited for Spencer to finish getting ready.
“I was thinking maybe 3:00, maybe 4:00?” She didn’t shy away from letting out a groan as she came up behind him to hug his back, only having successfully put on his pajama pants for the night.
“Maybe 5:00.”
“Do you think she’ll get up and check?” His hands came to rest over hers, holding them close to his stomach.
“No, she didn’t get her afternoon nap so she’s extra tired tonight.” She placed a kiss to the back of his shoulder blade, and he tried his best not to melt into her touch.
“I missed you.”
“Missed you more.” She mumbled out before Spencer turned around in her hold, bringing his arms around her as she settled against his chest.
It was such a simple thing, to be in each other's arms, but it was the one thing they both craved when they were apart. It was the one thing in their relationship that hadn’t changed, the need for physical touch but only from each other. Like many times before, Spencer’s mind seemed to stall with the concept of time, unable to differentiate the seconds from minutes in her arms, resting his cheek against her head. “Let’s go to bed.” One more kiss was pressed to her hair before she let go of him, turning to climb into their bed.
As they made their way under the covers, Spencer moving to lay behind her, his arm slipped over her waist, her back to his chest, and it was then he lost the strength to hold back the lingering thoughts in his mind. “I thought I wouldn’t get tonight with you.”
“You did. It’s our own Christmas miracle.”
“You’re my miracle.” He pressed a kiss to her shoulder, lips lingering over the surface. “My dream I never have to wake from.”
“You, Dr. Reid, are exceptionally cheesy.” A laugh had burst from her lips but he didn’t even flinch or pull away from her. Her laughter settled back into the quiet of their room, eyelids starting to grow heavy as she felt her heartbeat synchronize to his breathing behind her. “Santa’s at 5:00?” The response he offered was just a small hum of acknowledgment, squeezing her body tighter to his before they both surrendered to the attractive lure, falling into a blissful sleep (if only for a few hours).

Hello! Could I request something where Eddie is Bi and he’s dating female reader and Eddie used to have a crush on Steve and reader knows and teases him about it such as in the boat where Steve takes off his shirt and throws it at him and reader knows he’s low key freaking out about it and she finds it cute how he reacts. Yk he obviously won’t cheat but he’s reminded of why he had a crush on him, that kind of thing you know?

“Hello handsome,” Eddie practically melted when he heard your sweet voice cut through his thoughts. You walked into the back of his shop, trying not to startle him if he happened to be under a car; luckily you heard him closing a hood before you were greeted with his smile. You weaved your way over to him, all soft and smiley and sugary sweet - a complete contrast to his current environment. You held out an ice cold bottle of water to him, which he eagerly took and started to chug, “figured you could use that today.”
"You're right baby," he closed his bottle and leaned in to give you a wet, minty kiss. You grabbed the front of his coveralls and pulled closer, kissing him again, "you're killing me."
"You've been gone all day," you teased softly, playing with a chocolatey rogue curl that had escaped his bun, "can you really blame a girl for missing her man?"
"Fuck no," he scoffed, "missed you too, baby. You look pretty today."
"You think this looks pretty," you dragged your fingers along the soft fabric of your dress' strap. Eddie was a simple man at the end of the day, and seeing you in a dress sparked some sort of primal urge, "you should see what's underneath."
"You're playing dirty," he groaned, trying to control himself so he didn't get a hard on in the middle of work. He wondered if it was either pretty lingerie or nothing at all. He'd find out soon enough he hoped, "I'm going to get you back for this."
"I hope you do," you patted his chest and gave him a soft, playful little push back, "so -"
"Aha," he sighed dramatically as he often did, "you have an ulterior motive. I should have known."
"Calm down, Edward," you laughed fondly, a sound that seemed to go straight to his heart and made butterflies flutter in his tummy, "its a good thing! I was talking with Steve and Robin today and they suggested we all spend the long holiday weekend at the cabin. What do you think?"
"You've already said yes for us."
"I've already said yes for us," you confirmed sweetly, "I didn't see why not. Unless you can't handle being stuck with your little boyfriend all weekend.”
“Stopppp,” he groaned, cheeks turned a pretty shade of bubblegum pink as tried to pull up his coveralls over his warm face, “I regret ever telling you I had a crush on Steve Harrington.”
“Baby boy, I am not blind,” you pulled the dark blue fabric away from his pretty face, “I know when you’re looking and when you’re looking. I think it’s cute, Eddie. Besides, you have good taste - Steve is a handsome guy.”
“Excusez-moi?” over exaggerated, in a horrible French accent. You loved this absolute dork.
“You didn’t let me finish,” you leaned in and pressed a kiss to his lips, “Steve is a handsome guy but you, Eddie Munson, are the handsomest and hottest man alive. My loins burn for you!”
“I…I can’t believe this is how the love of my life, my future wife, and the future mother of my children is acting,” with a hand on his chest, he hung his head and sighed deeply. Meanwhile your heart was rapidly pitter-pattering as your bones felt like jelly at the future wife and mother of my children comment. Eddie, loud and boisterous, had many times declared he was going to marry you and that you’d have all the children you wanted. But hearing it now still felt as electric as the first time.
“I could say the same for you, future husband and father of my children,” but you were all fond smiles and soft eyes, “I’ll let you get back to it. Don’t work too hard, okay?”
“I’ll be home soon,” he reached for your hand and squeezed it gently, “wanna do Chinese for dinner?”
“Hell yeah,” you cheered excitedly, “I’ll call in and order-”
“And I’ll pick up on my way home,” he grinned.
“Excellent teamwork,” you loved him. You really, really loved him, “don’t forget - this weekend at the lake house!”
“Ugh!”
He was still grumbling under his breath as you waved and walked out of the garage. How was he going to survive a weekend with you and Steve in bathing suits? He wasn’t going to, short and simple.
But it would still be fun. Right? Right.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Alright,” Steve Harrington was a natural leader. It was something he’d picked up quickly when he’d begun being everyone’s babysitter. But it was a role that suited him well and he looked so natural standing on the dock in front of the whole gang, arms outstretched as he tried to gather everyone’s attention. You were standing off the right with Eddie, hands entwined and fingers laced together. Robin was square in the middle, Nancy shyly tucked into her side; the newness of their relationship still strong. Jonathan and Argyle rounded out the group along with Chrissy Cunningham. A ragtag group of survivors that had turned to friends to found family.
You wouldn’t have it any other way.
You knew Eddie was excited to be with everyone but you also knew that he was lowkey freaking out about Steve. Sweet, golden, wonderful Steve that was oblivious to the fact that Eddie had harbored a crush on him for several years before you came along. Steve was his best friend and his former crush, but you were the love of his life. He knew that much, and so did you. It was still just a little fun to tease him.
“Listen up nerds,” Steve looked between all of you as you started to playfully boo him, “this weekend is all about being lazy and having fun. So, don’t drown, remember sunscreen, and if you’re going to have sex keep it down and safe.”
“Hell yeah,” you heard Argyle and Jonathan snickering among themselves as you pressed a kiss to Eddie’s bare shoulder. Your friends were absolutely ridiculous sometimes but loved them all.
“And don’t forget - bonfires at nine o’clock sharp. There will be s’mores and beers,” that had you all excited, “now go and have fun, children!”
Everyone started to scatter as you took Eddie’s hand and started to pull him along to the house. He pretended to huff dramatically as you grinned at him. He looked so good with black shorts and a cut off tank, tattoos on full display, dark ink against pale skin. His mess of curls was pulled into a bun at the stop of his head, a few curls framing his face. He had on a pair of black ray bans and beat up vans on his feet, the pure essence of cool.
“Come on handsome,” naturally he obliged you and let you drag him along, “let’s get changed and go swimming. It’s so hot and the water looks perfect.”
“Did you bring-”
“The red two-piece that has you practically drooling?” you barely managed to get your words out before squealing as Eddie picked you up and threw you over his shoulder, practically running into the house, “Edward! I didn’t even give you an answer!”
“I presume the answer is a big, fat yes?” He opened the door to the room where you would be staying during your trip. You huffed as he gently set you down on the bed before caging you in between his arms and kissing you softly. You leaned into his touch, pressing to pull away from him until you were in desperate need  of a fresh breath of air, “baby, baby, baby.”
“The answer to your question is a big fat no,” he rolled on his back and threw his arms out in mock exasperation, “calm down and let me finish.”
“You’re a cruel mistress!”
“I got a whole new bathing suit,” you rolled onto your stomach so you could face him. You reached up and touched his face, tenderly brushing your fingers along his cheek, “and I think you’re going to like it.”
“Sweetheart, you could be wearing a potato sack and you’d still be the most beautiful girl in the entire world,” your entire face softened at his world and you almost melted into a puddle, “and on top of all that, you’ve got the best and biggest heart of all.”
“And great tits-”
“And great tits,” he confirmed as if there was ever any doubt to that, “you’re the whole package baby. I love you.”
“I love you, Eddie,” you took his hand and pressed a gentle kiss to his knuckles, “you are the best man. Just so you know.”
He smiled at you, letting out a small wistful little sigh, “before we get too mushy, let’s get changed and get some sun.”
“That sounds excellent, my love.”
-
Okay. Okay. You hadn't been lying when you'd told Eddie that he would like this bathing suit. Bright pink and looking like it was made for you, fitting just as you liked and showing off all the curves you wanted to. You owned it and that in and of itself made you dangerously sexy. Eddie had to work to make sure he didn't get a hard on in front of everyone; he was glad for the cold water of the lake. He might have been drooling though…that was hard to control when you looked like that.
But - but - it got worse. He didn't think it could get worse than trying to control himself around you but then it did. He wasn't sure whether to curse you, Steve Harrington, or everything out in the universe.
Once he'd calmed down enough and the two of you were playing around in the water, Steve Harrington came out to join you. He was wearing a pair of navy blue swim trunks and nothing else besides a pair of flip flops and sunglasses. He looked good and he knew it.
And so did Eddie. His eyes raked over Steve's lithe, tan figure, which you quickly caught onto. Eddie studied his golden skin, littered with freckles and delicious chest hair. He swallowed thickly, the lump in his throat enormous.
You hadn't realize that Steve had come out at first but when Eddie suddenly fell silent you knew something was wrong.
"Babe?" On his back on his float, chest already getting tan from the hot summer sun, was Eddie with his mouth hanging open as he stared straight at the dock. You followed his eyeline and almost laughed out loud when you realized what was going on. He quickly glared at you as you stifled your laugh which turned into a horrible snorting sound, "Edward."
"Sweetheart," he huffed like a child, pretty plush lips pulled into a pout as he looked at you, "affectionately - shut up!"
"You are the least conspicuous person ever! At least try to act like you're not drooling!"
"I am not drool-"
"Hey there."
You grinned at Steve as the boy swam over to you, a lazy smile on his face as he treaded water without effort. You splashed some water at Eddie as he remained silent, only a pained look on his face.
"Hey," he snapped to attention and looked between the two of you, brain overloaded with the amount of attractiveness between the two of you, "looking good, Harrington."
If there had been a wall in front of him, he would have been banging his head already. You snorted in amusement before floating onto your back and slowly swimming away with a wave. You were going to let them have their own moment.
"You too man," Steve had a smile so pretty that it was almost cruel. Eddie returned the grin with what he hoped was an equally lovely one, "being in love looks good on you."
"I-I'm not in love with you," Eddie's voice stammered and shook as he looked at Steve with wide, worried eyes. Steve tossed his head back with laughter. Oh. That wasn't what he was insinuating? Awkward.
"I know that," he reached over and gently tugged on one of Eddie's loose curls, "still hope you've got some love for me though."
"Duh," the two of them exchanged shy smiles, "always."
"Me too," Steve agreed and Eddie's heart started to rattle wildly in his chest, "wanna know a secret, Munson?"
"S-sure."
"It would have been cool if it would have been you," and just like that, Eddie was sure his heart stopped beating. The flow of the river around him seemed so loud and he was trying to convince himself that he was hearing incorrectly. Judging from the look on Steve's face, he hadn't heard incorrectly, "but I think we're on the right path regardless."
“Yeah,” Eddie knew that Steve was already devoted to Chrissy. The two of them clearly shared a deep bond despite only having been dating for a few months. When Eddie first learned that Steve was dating someone new, and then when he realized it was another of his friends, he could admit that some jealousy flared up. It was natural, and that was what you tried to explain to Eddie. Even though the two of you had each other and you both knew that you loved each other, it was a normal human emotion to still feel things for other people, “I agree.”
“And just so you know, you’re the most attractive guy I’ve ever met,” Eddie’s cheeks were already pink from the sun he’d been getting - he wasn’t good at remembering to apply sunscreen despite your insistence - but they just turned about ten shades darker when he heard Steve’s confession. Steve bit his lip as he blushed as well, “and you’re my best friend.”
“You’re my best friend too, handsome,” Eddie broke the bit of awkward tension that had settled in between the two of them. There was a moment of silence before the two of them broke into a fit of laughter. You’d found Robin and Nancy and the three of you were watching the boys in amusement. You’d all been taking bets on when, if ever, they’d reveal that they had had crushes on the other, “wanna go and grab a beer?”
“Hell yeah,” he agreed as the two of them high-fived. Steve started to swim towards the dock but Eddie paused for a moment as he turned around to wave at you, a goofy smile on his face. You couldn’t help but return the smile, your heart melting with nothing but affection for your man.
He might have been a fool but he was your fool.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
It was late by the time all of you made your way back to your bedrooms. The bonfire had gone late into the night and all of you had been reluctant to go to bed despite the fact that you’d be there all week. This was a much needed trip for everyone.
“Hey,” you let yourself fall into the bed, laughing as Eddie copied you and jumped in next to you, easily putting his arm around you and pulling towards him. You couldn’t help yourself as you pressed kisses to his forehead, cheeks, and nose. He giggled at the soft touch of yourself before sighing softly as you draped yourself over him, “I love you, honey boy.”
“I love you,” he reached for your hand and laced your fingers together, giving your hand a small squeeze, “did you know that Steve had a crush on me?”
“I didn’t know,” you stretched out his arms and pressed kisses to his pale, inked skin, “but I knew. We all did. Wasn’t hard to see the two pretty boys oogling each other all the time.”
“We didn’t…oh,” his face between a range of emotions as he processed what you said. Suddenly it all seemed so obvious, “we did, didn’t we. Well, that would have been good to know a few years ago.”
“Excuse me?” you pretended to be shocked and hurt as you turned floppy in his hold, “are you telling me that you think Steve would have been the love of your life and the two of you would have been together living happily ever after?!”
“No way, princess,” he tenderly put his hand on your cheek and turned your face up to his, “you and I were meant to be. That’s never going to change. You’re it for me, baby.”
“I know,” you offer him a cheeky grin, “I just wanted to hear you say it, my love. Never gets old.”
“Then I’ll continue to remind you,” he pulled you down to his lips and kissed you sweetly, “every single day of my life.”
“Promise?” and yeah. He would do absolutely anything in the world for you.
“Promise,” he replied, voice low and soft, “but I’m still mad at you.”
“Mad at me?! Why?” you huffed and started to tickle him, causing him to dissolve into a fit of giggles.
“Because it should be illegal to be this good looking,” he huffed, “gonna be the death of me.”
“What about you?” you kissed him slowly, “you’re just as bad. Good thing we’re stuck together.”
“Forever,” he confirmed, “ahh, baby, I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Eddie. Lots and lots and then some more, goofy boy.”

Sunday Mornings: Draco Malfoy x reader
fluff fluff fluff!!!!!!!!!
~
Being a Malfoy meant being busy. Draco's childhood consisted of schedules on top of schedules, especially when he went home during the holidays. His parents were so influential in the wizarding world that his attendance in every tea party, every ball, and every dinner was a must. When the socializing season was over, he still wasn't free. His schedules consisted of horse riding, lessons upon lessons about the family history, taxes, basically everything he needs in order to become the successor. Lucius was, at first adamant with Draco's lessons, he wanted him to start as early as possible. However, his original plan was interrupted by his wife. Narcissa had somehow managed to convince her husband to wait a couple years more, wanting to allow Draco to be a kid for as long as possible without interfering with the duties he had to do.
Even as Draco moved to Hogwarts, he kept himself busy. He grew accustomed to his previous years of busy schedules and appointments, that it felt so empty without it. This new freedom he has makes its presence known the first week of the school year.
There's no doubt Draco was excited about Hogwarts and finally being able to learn magic, but he didn't expect it to be so....relaxed? He was busy with classes for half the day, yes, but what else was he supposed to do in between? What else could he do before lunch? dinner? At first he found himself sharing his free time teasing the other kids with his friends but it made him feel so unproductive. It made him feel like he was behind schedule by a long mile, and he didn't know how to spend his time wisely.
He tried to go to the library, researching more about previous topics he's learned from before, but it was all the same. He already knew the information these library books had to offer to him. He felt restless and uneasy, having nothing to do, that was until he met you.
It was so baffling to Draco, the first time he saw you, how instead of being productive and studying, doing your work, he found you sprawled on the Slytherin common room couch cuddled up in a blanket peacefully slumbering.
Is she mad? He thought to himself. He knelt down next to you and shook you, asking you what you were doing. You woke up disoriented squinting up at him,
"napping?" You said with a groggy voice before pressing your head once more on top of your arm to return to the sweet dream you were having, "just give me five more minutes..."
Draco stared blankly at you. How can you waste such precious time by going to bed? It wasn't even curfew yet, in fact, it was hours before curfew.
When you were awake and conscious of your surroundings, Draco didn't find you half as bad as he thought he would. You were sweet with a lot of spunk to you. He found you so admirable, so chaotic, so free, and before he knew it, he was tripping and falling for you.
He could never thank you enough for everything he's felt and done when he's with you. Two years of dating and you still surprise him. Even though you found similarities in one another, you still were in some way complete opposites. You were the type of person to go with the flow, to wing it. Draco needed a schedule, he needed reassurance of how his day will be.
On Saturday nights you always spend the night in his private dorm. It took so long for you to convince him to have a free day. It took many kisses to persuade him to at the very least stay in bed with you. Often you'd groan about being cold in the mornings needing his arms around you. He knew that you knew that he couldn't ever resist you. He knew that you would always monopolize this very fact to make him cuddle you for a half hour more before he had to leave to start his day. He always groaned, and complained how needy you were, but he would always kiss your forehead right after, tightening his grip on your waist and pulling you closer nonetheless.
Without you in his life, Draco would have never truly felt the bliss of naps, lazy days and staying in bed doing nothing. He loves waking up to the smell of your hair, to your soft breathing, still asleep. He loves your arms that drape around his waist while you're snuggled up against his chest. He always felt his heart squeezed every Sunday morning at the sight of you. He would rub small circles around your back, or gently play with your hair while he waits for you to wake up.
After a couple of minutes he knows you're awake, but you refuse to look at him, refuse to open your eyes. A small smile falls on his face, because he knows that your little negotiation every Sunday morning would start if you opened your eyes. He doesn't say anything, though. He just lets you think that he hasn't noticed your consciousness yet, but you know. You know he's aware of it, which all the more makes your lips curl up into a smile, snuggling closer to him. He chuckles at the action before placing a kiss to the top of your head, an act of affection that's full of love.
