All in the Cards (series)* - (haikyuu) MY FAVORITE FIC OF ALL TIME! although lengthy it is such a good read and has a lot of popular ships! the au is such a cool concept and the plot and characters are thought out so well it’s amazing and should definitely check it out

The Crystal Miracles - (kuroko no basket) based off steven universe but coming from someone who has never watched steven universe the fic was not super dependent on it and was just based around the plot of steven universe (apparently i talked about with my friend who actually watched steven universe) i thought it was cool so definitely recommend! also a bit lengthy but worth it

friends, worlds apart - (haikyuu) it’s mainly bokuaka but there’s other ships so i decided to put this fic here. tbh i don’t remember it too well but i do know it well enough to know that it was really good! it’s a pretty long hogwarts au fic and is based off basic plot points from harry potter but it’s not too similar imo so overall a good read!

Saltwater Room - (kuroken) i think i read this because of a recommendation and man it was funny. i enjoyed all the fun little bits of kenma and hinata just being friends but also the more serious angsty parts and having the whole conflict with kuroo and kenma’s dream. *sigh* it’s good but lengthy. worth it in my opinion but i like long fics so maybe not your cup of tea

When I Fall In Love - (semishira) i can’t really remember this fic since i read it a long time ago but i do remember liking it! the band au/pianist au concept was cool seeing it with semishira and they are so supportive of each other after they get over their annoyance! it’s not as long as the other long fics i’ve recommended but definitely give it a shot!

Cover My Thoughts In Gold - (bokuaka) some classic soulmate au because they are soulmates so why not have a fic that has them be confirmed soulmates

True Ending - (kuroken) marriage proposal in the best and cutest way possible and one that perfectly fits them 🥺

Dog visits - (kyouhaba) the classic “oh he’s different than i thought what do i do now” and yahaba being soft with kyoutani’s dog is everything and kyoutani not knowing how to deal with yahaba barging into his life 😍

be my honeybee - (kyouhaba) tw: implied/referenced child ab/se if you aren’t comfortable with that please don’t read <3 but it is a good fic and addresses real issues especially with kyoutani not really having anyone to help him until yahaba came around. it’s a bit long and made me cry a little so that’s why it’s good

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back - (kyouhaba) everyone has superpower abilities!! i always love aus like this so it’s not a surprise it’s one of my favorites. it also touches on mental health in the form of kyoutani doing too much for people when he doesn’t need to and always sacrificing himself for others even when it makes him unhappy. it’s so good tho if you ever decide to read it because it is a bit long

rewrite the stars - (kuroken) arranged marriage au where kenma and kageyama are going to get married but by the end they realize that they are marrying the wrong people and its so cute seeing kenma come to that realization

The Frog in the Well - (midotaka) it has been a while since i read this fic but i do remember laughing about this and just thinking it was overall cute especially with the whole aspect of being a loose retelling of “The Frog-King” and i know two other people who also read this and thought it was cute so there’s that

The Witch in the Tower - (murahimu) this is from the same series and author as the previous knb fic i recommended because this fic is also based around a fairy tale and i found this really cute because they are kinda domestic in this fic since there’s just an adopted child in a tower… anyway

Feels Like Winning - (murahimu) just some soulmate au for them because murasakibara not knowing how to deal with feelings <3

Only with You - (kikasa) a cute fic for this surprisingly underrated ship! it’s not too long but encompasses these idiots’ relationship in this fic perfectly

Claws and paws - (murahimu) this shapeshifter au is so cute because like height difference 😍 and also the whole idea of like himuro being this tiny cat compared for murasakibara is funny to me. it’s kind of long but i enjoyed it!

kintsugi - (teru minamoto x akane aoi) oh lord. oh god. this fic actually kinda broke me. it’s a very bittersweet fic that makes me go OMG YAY and then oh oh oh oh /neg but it does end happily. at what cost tho. it’s so so so good tho definitely recommend. a little lengthy but not too bad

Look At Me Like That - (momotarou mikoshiba x aiichirou nitori) THIS FIC SUMS UP THIS SHIP PERFECTLY! ITS SO GOOD! like the whole thingg of ai having unrequited feelings for rin but is now in love with this idiot momo is exactly how i see their relationship and having that tied up in this one fic.

Ever since Atsumu was officially declared crown prince of Inarizaki, Prince Osamu had enjoyed his quiet freedom at the royal family’s winter home in the countryside. There were no monarch parents, no stuffy politicians, no strict governesses bothering him, just him, his cat, and the house staff. 

When he first moved to the winter home, the staff had expected him to be just as uptight as the rest of the royal family but they swiftly learned he couldn’t be fucking bothered with the formalities. They welcomed him as a friend and companion, relieved that he wasn’t another overly dependent bratty noble. It was common to find the prince plucking vegetables from the house gardens, riding bicycles with the young stablehands, and joining the kitchen staff around dinner time.

However, his peace was disturbed by the arrival of foreign dignitaries from a kingdom to the east. The queen was hosting a grand ball at the end of the month in the capital and had offered Miya Hall and its empty rooms as the perfect place for King Rinsuke, his two grandchildren, and their small army of relatives, ambassadors, and nobles to stay until then.

If Osamu had to say ‘It’s lovely to meet ya, enjoy yer stay at Miya Hall’ to one more visiting dignitary he was going to explode. 

He finally managed to dodge a long drawn out story from the Baron of Blahblahblah by feigning a sudden illness and escaped up the staircase. While his staff knew he hated all this foolishness, even they couldn’t protect him from this. He needed to hide somewhere no one would think to look.

Osamu exhaled a soft sigh as he closed the library door behind him. This was more of his mother’s domain when she visited, with himself only flipping through the cooking books and not much more. He was about to let his shoulders relax when he heard a small yawn.

Who in the world would be in here while there were festivities below?

He grabbed the heaviest-looking book from a nearby shelf before creeping towards the sound. When Osamu rounded the corner, he discovered a young man sitting on the hardwood floor — his long legs awkwardly scrunched between the wall and a bookcase. He had a novel propped up against a knee and held a porcelain plate of pilfered pumpkin bread slices. Beside him was a small pack filled with more books and a pair of kicked off shiny leather loafers.

A random young man squeezed into Osamu’s library was an extremely uncommon occurrence, to say the least. However, what was the truly rare, incredible, and mind-blowing part of the entire thing was the fact that Crouton, the most ornery tabby in the entire kingdom, was curled up in the man’s lap and softly purring. 

When Osamu set his heavy book down on a table, the young man looked up at him with an expectant expression — waiting for something, anything to come out of Osamu’s mouth. But he was speechless. Crouton hated everyone except Osamu and half the staff had the scars to prove it.

“What?” The young man grinned up at him, green eyes crinkling with mirth. “No ‘Guards! Guards! There’s a devilishly handsome biblioklept in my library!’? I’m terribly disappointed.”

“What… what the hell is a biblioklept?”

The young man turned a page in his book before responding, “Don’t spend much time in here, do you, Prince Osamu?”

“Asshole,” Osamu murmured under his breath. He crossed his arms over his chest. “Why are ya here?”

“I always have some half-hearted hope that if all the nobles downstairs don’t see me, they’ll forget I exist. Like collective short-term amnesia.” He exhaled a wistful sigh. “What a lovely fantasy that would be. No one to introduce me incorrectly.”

Something inside Osamu willed him to join the young man on the floor. Crouton’s ears flicked when she saw her favorite human, offering a tiny meow before closing her eyes again. He fiddled with his jacket before speaking, “I’m a bit tired of havin’ people introduce themselves to me — hence why I am also hidin’ in the library — but I s’pose I can make one more exception.”

A grin and an outstretched hand. “Prince Rintarou. First in line for the throne, noted societal degenerate.” Osamu shook his hand, though it seemed odd. He was always told that King Rinsuke had two granddaughters, but maybe he’d heard wrong. “And, erm, cat magnet?”

“Ya should consider yerself blessed by the cat gods,” Osamu said, a smile crossing his lips as he watched Rintarou pet between her ears. “She hates everyone.”

“Sweet little ratcatcher,” Rintarou murmured as she purred. “We’re like three peas in a pod, aren’t we? Just want to be left alone.”

He was right. A pair of princes who wanted nothing more than to escape the confines of their station. He was annoyed when he learned he’d have to play host to all of these foreign dignitaries, but maybe the silver lining was he’d have someone to commiserate with. 

“Yer highness? Are ya in here?” Osamu’s eyes went wide as footsteps echoed through the hall outside the library door and the knob rattled. Osamu found himself grabbed by the embroidered collar of his jacket and yanked behind the cover of the bookcase by Rintarou. Crouton yowled and dashed away. “Oh, it was just that blasted cat.”

When the door closed once more, Osamu exhaled a relieved sigh and faced Rintarou. “That was close.”

“Yeah,” Rintarou mumbled, green eyes wide. A faint pink blush had bloomed on his cheeks. “So, erm, Prince Osamu.”

“Yes?” Osamu flicked a bit of cat hair off his jacket.

“You planning on getting off me, or am I gonna have to pet between your ears, too?” Rintarou gestured at their position, himself still folded up like a human pretzel with Osamu sitting atop his lap. Osamu froze — utterly mortified — before Rintarou started laughing. Bold, bright, and contagious.

Osamu couldn’t help but look forward to the trouble he and Rintarou would get into while the prince stayed with him.

This would be fun. 

Little writing challenge from twitter. My task was to write a ficlet with the words  crouton, biblioklept, pumpkin, amnesia, dependent, and bikes in it. (I cheated and used bicycles instead. Shh.)

1 The acrid smell of isopropyl alcohol singes the inside of Leorio’s nose. Pietro doesn’t stay still long enough for him to clean the ulcers that have opened on the undersides of his arm- shivering with imaginary chills amidst the summer heat that blankets New York City. He’s rewet the old rag that sits on his forehead below the fringe that’s started to mat together but it offers no help to the burning boy. At some point, he loses the ability to designate who’s shaking. Him, or Pietro. It’s when Pietro gives another chest-rattling cough that Leorio lets himself accept the fact that his friend is going to die. Despite the coins he scraped together to get the supplies needed to tend to his friend, despite the begging for rich women’s handkerchiefs, despite his efforts- Pietro is going to die.

2 “Oi, get back on the court and stop canoodling with Shimizu-san.” A looming voice says from the court and Suga narrows his gaze on Daichi.“If anyone canoodles with Kiyoko-san, it's me.” Tanaka declares, thumb pressed to his puffed out chest.“What’s ‘canoodle’ mean?” Hinata questions from the net.“Canned soup.” Kageyama says and Hinata nods, content.From the corner of his eye, he sees Tsukishima place his face into his palm and wants to follow in suit. 

3 Sokka never would’ve guessed that when he started college, he would soon get very aquatinted with his dorm room’s floor. The cheap stick-on tile placed diagonally with those yellow and red squares peppered throughout them. Sometimes, he was on his hands and knees feeling around under his twin bed for his headphones that always somehow managed to end up in the farthest, dustiest corner. Sometimes he was kicking empty beer cans to that same corner while the floor’s absolutely nuts RA dropped in for her umpteenth hygiene check. But lately, he was with Zuko. Zuko was fictional. He had to be. Or at least that’s what he thought when his roommate first unlocked their door and paused in the doorway when they’d met for the first time. There was no way in hell that it was even remotely fair to Zuko to look the way he did– even with a gnarly burn wound blooming across the left of his face– wisps of dark hair curling where it met the collar of his shirt. He was the embodiment of every tortured, panty dropper, heartthrob he’d ever read about in his ex-girlfriend’s books (although Suki claimed to never know where they came from) and at that moment, Sokka felt as if his body had plummeted through the earth’s core and was shooting out the ass-end of the planet and somewhere into the stratosphere because holy shit he’s never seen a guy more attractive in his life.

In order to make myself depressed I decided to write down all my longfic wips and categorize how many words they are and how finished they are.

When the Dust Settles- Danganronpa, multiple pairings - 80k words, 75% done.

drv3 kids are rescued before the filth murder and sent to Jabberwocky island to hide from Danganronpa. Not canon compliant because I forgot some of the details about how the third game ended when I started it, then decided I liked the misremembered ending better.

Baby, Don't Hurt Me - Sk8, Tadaai - 39k words, 20% done. maybe. my outline for this one is pretty loose.

Tadashi takes a bullet for Ainosuke, forcing them both to reconsider their relationship. Mostly a kind of Ainosuke rehabilitation fic about him loosing pretty much everything and having to rebuild his life from scratch. Honestly very attached to this one, but it's also sort of a 'Am I good enough to write this the way I want it' kind of thing...

The Snake, the Sun and the Blossoming Branch - sk8, matchasnakeblossom, 29k words, ?????% done.

Sequel to Recovery where Adam is dead and Tadashi is badly injured after their fall of the cliff. Tadashi doesn't know what to do with himself, but ends up with a job as the manager of Sia La Luce. This one is... complicated. I have a lot of ideas but no real plot, or maybe a lot of different ideas for plots that I'm not sure about. TBH I think I've probably written, like 60k words and shuffled them around, deleted and undeleted and I'm just stuck. A big problem is the Adam in Recovery is not really my actual impression of the character? Like, I started recovery very early in the show when Adam was still kind of Skateboard Hisoka so I just made him a pretty one-note villain, so it's hard to try and write all the Tadashi relationship stuff when the adam in that fic isn't really consistent with how I view adam... I still want to write it though. I like what i have and I like the character interactions.

Royal Pardon - hq!!, Sakuatsu, 37k words, 50% done

ABO royalty AU. Sakusa takes over Inarizaki, which was kind of a shithole. Atsumu and Osamu were planning a coup to dispose their father, and Atsumu convinces Sakusa to marry him in order to legitimize him to the people. Sakusa's a suspicious bastard and Atsumu's a tricky bastard. my first ABO fic and I was like 2k in before I realized I fucking forgot about Betas T.T. still, I have a solid outline for this one.

Star Crossed Rivals - p5, shuake, 18k words, 15% done

Up and coming actor Akechi accidentally falls in with Ren, who is working as a barista at LaBlanc. Ann is starring in a movie with Aketchi, and Shido is a retired actor who runs Akechi's talent agency that he joined to get close to Shido.

ok lol, so almost 200k words and five projects I should be working on. that's on top of an 'ideas' doc that's almost at 90k words and a handful of <5k word stories that I spun out into their own projects but haven't worked on much. that includes Plucked Strings, which I published the first chapter of and I have a lot of ideas for, or the full version of my vampire!Langa/hunter!Reki AU I wrote a short story about.

Honestly, now that I'm done wtih the Big Bang and Stolkholm is getting posted I need to decide what to work on. I always kind of want to pick dust settles since I'm so freaking close with it I just want to get it done and out there. I think I have the most momentum with Royal Pardon though...

ok i've got an au brewing that idk if I'm going to do anything with it. so here are some ideas i have

the miya twins are courtesans

and like, expensive ones at that, like noble women are always asking for them and gifting them expensive gifts

there are some men as well who are willing to pay the price. but that is lesser known.

their mom was a courtesan before she was killed (the twins aren't given any details, they are told its mysterious circumstances but they can assume a client of her had gotten jealous or had gone way too far) and she died when they were about 6 with a hefty debt owed to the head of the courtesans and the twins were taken in by the head, however they know owe their own debts on top of their mother's debt

they were taught well growing up, they are able to keep conversation with the rich nobility and even some of the royalty (which those are kept very hush hush) they are both clever and cunning

suna is the prince, the crown prince and the next in line to the throne

he is a little bit of a weirdo, but he is intelligent and has a good battle sense about him

he was sent to fight in a battle when he was 14, the head of the knights was next to suna to keep him safe the whole time, but suna is skilled in hand to hand combat and a skilled swordsman as well

his father, the king, is a bit of a tyrant

he wants to have all control of the land and wants to own as much of the world as he can and suna doesn't quite agree with that. however, he is young and figuring out how he can go against his father and how long he can stand to stay silent before he's able to take over the throne

sakusa is an assassin

an assassin known for his talent with poisons, which is his preferred method to kill

however, he is deadly with daggers and swords. if things turn on his in and instant, he can keep himself out of injury while his opponent bleeds to death in front of him

he hates the clean-up when blood is involved..

the twins are in the assassins guild often as their friend aran is the next in line to be the head of the assassins guild, but there are a lot of paying customers at the guild

atsumu runs into sakusa a lot, they have a love-hate relationship going on

they will joke and talk casually, but almost every word is laced with hate and insult

suna meets osamu at a bar

a high end bar, where nobles frequent. osamu's there to see if he can get a last minute client before he calls it a night, trying to see if he has a regular client who may be looking for something or maybe a one night fling that will earn him enough for breakfast the next morning

suna had snuck out of the castle, needing a break from political talk and wanting a break from the guards who watch his every movement, he walks into the bar he has heard a lot about

and then he sees osamu, someone who looks about his age and how can he not approach and start a conversation

because suna is lonely, to say the least

his sister, the princess, is always stuck in her own lessons while suna sits in on discussions of what country they should target next and how they' deal with the uprising in their own country

osamu, of course, assumes suna knows who he is and that's why he is talking to osamu. and osamu flirts, putting on his best smile and sitting to accentuate his best features

osamu finally asks if its happening after about an hour of talk and then suna's face flushes bright red

osamu wants to die of embarrassment because its at that moment he realizes he has been talking to the prince that entire time

suna makes excuses to run into osamu a lot after that (and atsumu accidentally a couple times, much to atsumus confusion)

atsuhina ; chapter 1/3 ; royalty au ; assassin au ; mutual pining

Shouyou makes sure to stick close to the other guards he’s been assigned to—the castle’s imposing exterior translates well to the inside, every hallway looking just like any other, and he’d like to get an idea of the layout quickly. His hand comes to rest on the hilt of the sword at his hip, wishing he had even just one of his daggers instead. They’re so much more efficient. But, well, the sooner he gets the job done, the sooner he can leave this place and wear whatever he wants again. He’s done it time and time again, really, it’s simple: infiltrate the guard, find the crown prince and verify the rumors, and deal with him. He has a flawless track record, after all. There aren’t that many other assassins out there who can say the same. Shouyou is an assassin. Atsumu is the crown prince he's be tasked with getting rid off. That proves to only be the start of their story.
