aaravos is someone who prioritizes self care alot, and has a lot of self care products. especially within his imprisonment, in the beginning he was very neglectful of himself and lowkey depressed but after he eventually understood the situation and adjusted he would prob start doing self care at least to occupy the time

he has the silkiest, smoothest, thickest most luscious hair uve ever seen and has like a billion products for it

his haircare routine is probably like 40 steps alone 💀 not to mention all of the time he spends styling his hair and brushing it through

aaravos has a wall of all the products that he uses and its all neatly labeled and organized in sections depending on what its used for

if u want to help him with his hair, he will gladly let you wash it for him however will instruct u on the specific process and will make u use all pf his products in a super specific order 😭😭😭

he would also wash ur hair for u too, and is super gentle if u have curly hair like me

i wouldnt say this is a self care hc, but when hes out of his prison he definitely styles his hair a lot more than just leaving it down! i hc that he would probably wear it in so many styles, and will spend a lot of time in the morning braiding it or tying it up and adding in accessories :)

i feel like he would do skincare too, i remember seeing this one silly comic on the official tdp website that you can find here, but its basically a (joke) comic ab aaravos dealing with a pimple that i just found hilarious and i feel like would it be very in character for him to have a super good skincare routine

if ur someone who has/had really bad acne and skin like me, he would definitely do skincare with u and would teach you about elven products that he likes (only if u wanted him too tho)

he likes doing face masks with u and the both of you love having self care and skincare days where u guys just chill

its so funny when u walk in on him relaxing with a face mask on and cucumbers over his eyes, but its also kinda endearing that he trusts u enough to be so relaxed and vulnerable around u!

aaravos has a lot of body washes and soaps, and when the two of u bathe together its like a whole mf spa he will pour in bubbles and use all these nice smelling soaps like omfg hes so spoiled but u both love it

along with that, i feel like hes the type to use a lot of body scrubs so he always smells nice yk? i also feel like hes the type to shave and keeps his body hair to a minimum, but doesnt really care what u do ab that he just feels more comfortable without it

when yall bathe or shower together u cant help but admire him cuz hes just so,, pretty and its so mesmerizing to watch him go through all the steps of his self care routines-

im imagining him gently running his hands through your hair as he washes it, humming softly to himself and gently holding your head and cupping your face as he rinses the soap out, placing soft kisses on the back of your neck and shoulders auugh. he then proceeds to carefully wash your entire body, softly rubbing his body soaps across your back, down your chest, on your legs and wherever u want, hes very content in just washing u and worshiping your body. aaravos will trail kisses all over ur body after washing u, hes so devoted to u do mi ti why not me im gonna cry why arent u real

i also feel like aaravos would have very pretty hands and uses a lot of lotions and oils for his hands and nails, he does nail and hand selfcare and will do your nails for u if u want him too!

i feel like he would keep his relatively short but still a little long, and would absolutely ROCK glittery silver nails!!!

he will kiss u on the back of ur hand when hes done doing ur nails for u hhhhhh im not ok

he loves it when u use his hand lotions, or any of his products really. theres a possessive part of aaravos that is very pleased seeing u enjoy his products, and the fact that u smell like him and smell good is a bonus

u both will have self care date days and will take care of eachother the whole day, taking turns doing all of ur routines and having a whole spa day and relaxing with soothing incense burning in the background and its just a wonderful and relaxing time with ur lover <3

Bro so selfcare was never really a thing that I did mostly because I didn’t care but just spent probably jeez 2 hours? listen it was s process and I did not half ass it thing time. Like sometimes I’ll use a fun body wash in the shower or put lotion on my feet and hands but this night gurl. Not gonna get super detailed but just to list the amount that I did for this “selfcare” thing, so I’ve gone back and forth between using electric shavers and manual, sometimes when I’m lazy (which is all the time) I just electric shave but anyway I used the electric shaver to trim most of the hair right and then do my usual shower routine but go over the places again with the manual shaver just to get a nice clean cut right and then use not o let the exfoliating body wash that I’ve used like one other time, but followed with the body wash both coconut scented which was nice and made my skin shinny looking out of the shower and my skin is soft. After the shower it was time to tackle the unibrow which I hate cause the first hair pluck makes me sneeze and my eyes water up but anyway the brows look lovely (gotta maintain the only thing I get compliments on), and plucked around the cut that my beloved Meiko gave me and then I brushed my teeth and washed my face cause listen, I’m horrible at keeping up with my hygiene and I never brush my teeth after a shower which is gross but hey it happens I’ve never been good about my teeth and such and even now I’m still suck. Def gonna try to keep up with my dental hygiene for myself. Anyway then I debated whether to lotion my eyebrows cause they are dry or use vasoline like I’ve been doing after a shower but I tried lotion the healing kind then I lotioned my feet with a winter scent? Smells lovely so now all my skin is soft and moisturized uwu. Anyway now I’m just chillin listening to the rain outside and not to brag but I am proud of myself as a 23 year old woman with a male cartoon character as my pfp sksksksksks jokes aside not that anyone really cares but it felt good to just go all out and do something nice for myself it’s been a hell October so I guess in a way this was like a full body clense lol. Also it doesn’t hurt to pep talk yourself in the mirror. My fav phrases are “you are a specimen” “bitch you ugly” and my most recent one “gurl who is she? We don’t know and we never will”

I don't know how to take a bath. I always had a shower and I never had a bath tub, hence why I never took a bath, just a shower. I'm manifesting my dream house and added a bath and then I was like "Wait, how does one use one?"

Do you just soap up and then dip in the bath? Do you stay there in your filth? I hear people take a shower before or after but isn't that a purpose of a bath? To clean yourself? i only had baths as a kid or to release muscle tension but i feel like baths are primarily used as a relaxation tool. personally i would shower before having a bath and then just chill and watch netflix or read a book. you can also add some bath salts or essential oils & some candles to really level up the experience. it’s a great selfcare activity and is super relaxing - especially if you have a bath pillow and a lil table for your stuff that sits across the bath. alternatively, you could just play some music while sipping on a wine and close your eyes, basking in the rejuvenating qualities of the bath time (:

Happy List part 2!

This is making the rounds again, thanks to everyone who tagged me to spend some time pondering the things in life that make me smile (@sleepyfacetoughguy @whatwouldmickeydo @mickeyssleevelessflannel @southside-forever ), here are a few that I have come up with:

1) That moment in Pitch Perfect when Ben Platt comes out on stage to sing I’ve Got the Magic in Me and he goes from being super nervous and quiet to getting super into it and flirting with the crowd and singing harmonies with his best bud and generally killing it. (Special shoutout also to that scene/song for gratuitous UTK we love him and we love to see it) 🖤

2) When you arrive to meet a friend and they are early and have also stopped to get you coffee without asking because they know what coffee you like and want to do something nice for you.

3) Rediscovering old songs that you loved and hearing them in new ways now you’re grown (inspired by This American Life telling me what Saving All My Love For You was about all these years). 

4) Finding a really good conditioner for your hair. 

5) The early days of Autumn where it’s not too cold but you put a jumper on anyway because you just want to feel cosy.

6) When you order something pretty basic at a restaurant but they cook it so well that it’s the best version of that thing you’ve ever eaten (inspired by the three bites of pancake I had off my friend’s plate this morning after eating all of my own breakfast because it was the best damn pancake I’ve ever encountered)

7) Meeting up with a pal you haven’t seen in a while and jumping straight back into it no ‘how you been’ no ‘sorry it’s been a while’ just ‘hey you’re here, kettle’s just boiled you will NOT believe what Phil said to me last night’ like you’ve never spent a day apart.

8) TV shows creating roles for older women that are complex and lively and interesting to watch. I’m looking at you Ted Lasso, and you Sex Education. Rebecca Welton and Jean Milburn I worship you both!

9) Living in a country where they build towns so you can walk places.

10) Videos of capybaras because they are ridiculous

11) Lauryn Hill singing His Eye is on The Sparrow in Sister Act 2 (I stole this one from Leah but it deserves multiple entries because. Yes.)

12) Single purpose gadgets. I don’t buy them, but I do love to go into a kitchen store and look at them. A machine JUST for coring apples? One JUST for peeling garlic? Doesn’t crush the garlic, just peels it. You need another thing for crushing. Nothing makes me more overjoyed than a stupid expensive completely superfluous single purpose gadget.

13) Animals doing human things.

14) Gallacrafts. Such an amazing outpouring of creative energy and a great reminder not to try and make everything perfect. A brilliant concept from the beloveds, long may it reign.

15) Paperchase. It’s a shop. If you know you know.

16) When a Question Friday answer sparks a conversation between people that I am not a part of. It makes me feel like such a matchmaker! Like, ooh, my question helped create this moment right here and now maybe you two will be friends! I don’t know if that’s a little possessive or not? Like I’m taking credit? And since I have become a much more practical person with a lot more knowledge about how things work and I love the feeling of having worked something out and fixed it. 25) Using a notebook, not just for best. I used to buy tonnes of notebooks and never use them because I didn’t want to ruin them and that was pretty dumb of me. So now I use them, and I feel great using them, and the fact that I am using them makes me happy.

26) I said this in the last one but it remains true. You guys. Every day I get to laugh with/laugh at/cry with/scream at/flail with or even just chat to some of the dumbest smartest funniest most observant least judgmental all around awesomest crowd of dinguses (gender-neutral, affectionate) I have ever found on the internet. And it is magic. So thanks.

This is 50! Yes, today I turn 50 and I gotta say, I am super proud and happy. Just over 1 year ago, a friend and I decided to FINALLY lose this weight we have been holding onto like it was valuable. 🤣😅 I started writing down everything I ate and drank religiously in @myfitnesspal, lowered my carbs, talked to my weightloss buddy daily, and lowered my calories. The scale was moving BUT s l o w l y. Enlisted the help and advice from my doc. Lowered my carbs drastically, (not Keto, just hung around 100 carbs a day), started Intermittent fasting (12 hours), and started working out. I also monitored my weight and exercise on my @fitbit The weight really began to fall off. 🎉 All in all, I lost 60 pounds I have been trying to lose for over a decade. A real win and even though I still wanna lose 20 more pounds I am in a great place. My A1C has gone down, I lowered my dosage on my High Blood Pressure meds and the pressure in my eyes has decreased as well. I am in a much better place heath wise!! 🤎🖤🤎🖤 A blog post is coming to give even more details and discuss the food, failures and facts. So, this is 50 and I am happier, healthier and having fun. Weekly episode thoughts! A little differently, I’ma write down my thoughts to every clip.

So, after the depression of last week, we have some anger at David’s behavior. Which is fair, I guess. It’s also nice that Matteo’s friends care and do their best for him. And, to say it again, I fucking love Hans. It’s nice to see the dynamic between Matteo and him. Super cute. Also, Matteo opening up to him a bit about his mother, that’s great! Hans is also just such a sweetheart. And I love the advice he gives. Matteo can’t force David to do anything but if nothing happens, he doesn’t deserve to be hung up on a guy that doesn’t want anything from him.

Amira is adorable. I’m so excited for her season (I hope she gets one)! So, Sara and Leonie actually did out Matteo. Remember when I said I liked Sara? Yeah, it’s a no from me. Fuck you. You do not out people, no matter what they did to you. I guess Amira had her suspicions about Matteo’s sexuality before he was outed, it would make sense to me. And I love how she talks about the actual teachings of the Islam, that you shouldn’t judge people for things they can’t change. People need to understand that when you use religion to justify their bigoted garbage, it’s never the real thing. Amira subtly telling Matteo she’s supportive of him and his sexuality was nice. Better than Kiki, no offense.

I love to see Matteo going out and making an effort and apologizing. Good stuff. I liked how Carlos asked Matteo himself to clarify the rumor before believing or denying anything. And I loved how he quickly explained the difference between bisexual and pansexual. I love Carlos, such a cool dude.

I will forever be so deeply proud of Matteo. Here he is now, coming out to two more friends. Though I do hate Sara for taking it away from him. He should have done it in his own time. I don’t think he’s quite ready but it’s either come out or lie since he is now confronted with it. This also marks the first time Matteo actually said he’s into men (also, comedy gold “I’m not into you guys, I’m into men.”).

I love how after the initial discussion, Carlos and Abdi just roll with it. And Jonas, of course. That’s wonderful. I love that. Gimme more of that.

The next clip has a wonderful opening in my opinion. Matteo looks so peaceful lying there listening to his music. And the fact he gets his ass outta bed to tidy up, I am so proud. Because doing shit like that when you have depression, y’know, basic selfcare? Super difficult to get yourself to do it. And then the softest way he cuddles the pillow, I am the weakest.

Just when I thought I was ready to be completely done with Sara, Druck humanizes her again. They make it super hard to vilify her and I love that! It is wonderful. I can almost forgive her for outing Matteo (though I’m more pissed at Kiki than her, tbh). Matteo is the first if not only Isak-character that cares about the Emma-character. And it is clear that Matteo really cares about her. He didn’t want a relationship with her, but I think if they had just been friends, they would be the best disaster duo. You feel for Sara but you also feel for Matteo and in this scenario there’s no real blame to be pushed around, not really. They both haven’t been the best for and to each other but neither of them is pushed into the role of a villain. What is so sad about their relationship is that both of them desperately needed someone to talk to but they didn’t talk to each other. Also love that Sara changed her instagram post. To me, it shows she never wanted to hate Matteo and she wants to forgive him and be his friend.

The boy squad is dumb. I love them for being dumb. I love that they’re invested in Matteo’s love life, I love that they have different opinions on everything. I love how protective Jonas is of Matteo. I love how they didn’t even make that much drama about having to leave but actually left. And then hid out on the staircase to spy, what the hell, I love them all.

David is the handsomest prince I have ever laid eyes upon. Fuck off. The hug was so soft, like, how can you be any softer? How they rest their heads on each other’s shoulders, how their arms wrap around each other, how Matteo closes his eyes. Wonderful. And of course, the kiss on the shoulder, I am still dying. This is more than I ever imagined, it is wonderful.

I am so, so happy, that they didn’t go with a hook up scene. So happy. It might have made sense in the OG or other remakes, but with the way the relationship between Matteo and David has gone so far, it wouldn’t have made sense. I am so happy with this, you cannot believe how happy I am! I was never that big of a fan of the hook up scene anyway, and now I have a wonderful, beautiful, heartbreakingly soft moment instead. It makes sense. Matteo wants answers. He has spent all week building bridges and reaching out and talking. Really talking. A hook up scene would have thrown all that over.

Another wonderful thing about the episode was Matteo crawling out of his depressive episode on his own, offering olive branches to friends on his own. Explaining himself, mending bonds and cleaning up. I am so proud, you can’t believe it.

Wonderful episode. I am afraid of the next one because I guess shit’s gonna go down again. But Druck has surprised me a few times already, maybe it’ll do it again.
