“I don't need you anymore! All my life you made believe I was only worth what someone would pay for me!
But Christian loves me.
He loves me!
He loves me, Harold.
And that is worth everything!
We're going away from you, away from the Duke, away from the Moulin Rouge!”

summer horror entry seven: friday the 13th (2009) 🏕️
~in search of his missing sister, clay miller joins a group of wild young adults spending a weekend at their friends lake house. the party soon turns into a massacre as clay finds that his sisters potential killer is closer than he thinks~
I actually think that they did a great job with this besides the michael bay-isms that sprinkle uncomfortable misogyny throughout. but even that feels a little on brand for essentially a summary film of the friday the 13th franchise…unfortunately. I would argue that this is better than the original solely because it’s not a snore fest. it can be ridiculous, but at least it’s entertaining and can hold your attention. plus, jason voorhees is the best he’s ever looked in this entry. he looms large over ever victim and seeing him run is terrifying. I also loved the practical explanation they gave for his teleportation and it made me grieve the fact that we never got a platinum dunes halloween remake. if you’re gonna watch any horror movie this summer, let it be this one.
6.5/10

What happened at Camp Fairwood?
The question that's been asked more times than he could count. Today, he was going to find the answer to that question. He must.
As he stepped down from his car, he felt a cold chill immediately coursing down his spine. Even the cranking sound of the car door, hanging loosely on its last hinges, made him jolt. The brisk wind was no help. It rushed swiftly through the campground, dry leaves crackling as they rolled.
Standing up straighter, he took one great look at the sight before him. Clear thoughts, man, clear thoughts. This was going to be a long journey.
The cabins were arranged in two rows facing one another. They were all green, the same shade as the pine trees that surrounded them. Upon closer look, its age became noticeable. Cobwebs piled atop one another in the nooks and crannies of the porch. Thick layers of dust caked the window, to the point where it was nearly impossible to see from the outside. Colors on the wood dried away with time and rain.
In the middle sat the unlit bonfire. Who knows when's the last time that thing has been touched. Little logs acting as makeshift benches surrounded the grand centerpiece.
