2024 creative goals for me:
more experimental writing/art – enjoy the process even if the result isn't "post-worthy"
quality over quantity (fuck algorithms or staying relevant)
be more mindful and present in the moment – purposely dedicate time to the things you want to do, no multitasking
connect more with the community and support others
share more about the creative process and connect with other writers/artists to inspire and support each other
dedicate time to reading books and watching movies/shows/other media, refill the well to avoid creative slumps
don't be scared to write what you want, no matter your target audience – people won't abandon you for switching it up
explore themes, be weirder, care less about opinions that don't matter to you
practice new skills, overcome perfectionism and impatience
have fun :)

How to Set Writing Goals for the New Year (or Any Time)
A new year is a chance to set new goals! You creative writing skills will grow in incredible ways this year, especially if you set benchmarks for yourself.
Here are a few ways to do that.
1. Consider What’s Realistic
If you’ve never written a story before, you may not write and publish a trilogy in the next 11 months. That’s so much pressure to put on yourself! You’d have to experiment with novel writing, complete over 180,000 words, understand the publishing process, market your work, and get your stories to readers. Traditional publishing doesn’t even work that fast with experts on each writer’s team.
Everyone needs realistic goals, creative or otherwise. We’ve all set our minds on doing something that was nearly impossible and then felt terrible after not achieving it
Let’s not do that with the stories and characters we love so much!
Instead, set realistic goals. They could be things like:
I’ll write a short story in a new genre.
I’ll rewrite an older short story that I love.
I’ll start making a list of novel ideas as they come to me.
I’ll outline a novel by the end of the year.
I’ll attend a writer’s retreat this year.
I’ll read a book on the craft of writing this year.
I’ll get 10 query responses from literary agents.
I’ll get 100 reviews on my collective fanfic uploads.
I’ll get better at receiving constructive criticism from beta readers.
Put your list where you can see it, even if you only have one goal. When you see it hanging on your mirror, monitor, desktop, or phone screen every day, you’re more likely to accomplish it.
2. Make Your Goals Actionable
Let’s pick a goal—imagine you want to write a short story in a new genre. That’s a great goal, but its not actionable. You could feel the same way right up through New Year’s Eve and never accomplish it.
Instead, let’s define the goal. You could make a list that looks something like this:
I want to write a short story in a new genre. Here are my goalposts:
∙ I’ll create a story idea by the end of February. ∙ I’ll draft an outline by the end of April. ∙ I’ll finish the first draft by the end of June. ∙ I’ll finish editing the draft by the end of August. ∙ I’ll submit the story to five publications or contests by the end of December.
The general dates will be actionable goalposts you can add to your planner, calendar, or set reminders for in your phone.
You can also break those into weekly goals. Set a reminder to spend 10 minutes thinking of story ideas in your new genre each week through the end of February. After that, you could schedule 15 minutes per week to create your outline through April. Set aside 30 minutes a week to write the first draft through June, even if it’s five or 10 minutes every other day.
You’ll know how to break down your goals based on your writing routine, how your creativity flows, and what your schedule looks like.
3. Check Back In With Yourself
If you’re anything like me, your new year’s resolutions may not seem as appealing a month, six months, or a year from January. Check back in with your writing goals each month.
You can always change them if they no longer interest you!
It’s healthy to set new goals because you’re learning about yourself. Maybe your skills develop faster than you intended or your creative focus goes to another genre/project. That’s great!
Give yourself the grace to adjust your goals accordingly and you’ll experience your main goal: strengthening your writing abilities.

Creative goals 2024
Thank you Lauren @kingsofeverything for tagging me on these every year. Kind of helps getting some order where there isn't any 🤣
These will be mainly knitting goals. haven't done crochet in months (apart from troubleshooting my daughter's) and there's not enough hours in the day to pick up another hobby (even though embroidery keeps winking at me.)
1. Finish my WIPs
Currently have 4 WIPs
- Shrug. This is my car knitting because it's simple ribbing. No brain required knitting. It should be finished this week as we have a trip planned.
Tumblr media
- Cable sweater. This has been on sleeve island for months and it's ridiculous cause I actually really like it. Just like the idea of super long sleeves with cable all over far less. Going to give myself until the end of March to finish it.
Tumblr media
- Shawl. Started this on my last trip abroad and probably won't touch it until the next one. Don't need it or particularly fancy it but it's good travel knitting.
- Black and red sweater. Only started in December. Halfway through the body. Will go back to it when I feel better.
Tumblr media
2. Next cast-ons
I have the yarn and the pattern for the following so they should be next on the list. I am mainly knitting garments as I'm still trying to replace all the jumpers/cardis in my wardrobe by handmade ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Dream big
Unlikely to be done this year but in a corner of my mind nevertheless
- jenny vneck cardigan
- mosaic crochet blanket
- more neutral basic jumpers
- more hats for the homeless
I think the main goal is actually to do all of 1 and 2 so my stash can decrease a bit. I'm on a self imposed yarn ban right now. Let's see how long it lasts.
I'm pretty sure everyone I know has been tagged but if you haven't and want to do it, go for it!

It's 2023 and I've got some goals in mind for what I'll be working on this year.
Comics-wise, we've got our two ongoing series:
Slice of Life
Chapter 6 is currently in-progress and I hope to finish it, along with Chapter 7, and hopefully make headway into Chapter 8.
Aces Wild
There are currently 123 published Aces Wild Comics, and by the end of the year, I would like to make that number reach 150!
Now, for some more side projects that I would like to work on, and will post exclusively to Patreon until they are complete and ready to be published:
Don’t Eat Anything a Fae Offers, But What If I’m the Snack?
This will be a series of zines, and I hope to release the first zine this year. In the past I've called this story "Old Faethful" (because puns, hee), but I'm feeling self-indulgent and wanted to name one of my stories like a Light Novel lol
Fae-Snack is about Mari, a college student who recently broke up with her cheating boyfriend. She walks into a pub to drown her sorrows, but the place is full of supernatural patrons and a beautiful Fae bartender who takes an interest in this sad little human. Mari ends up being like "you know what? Fuck it." and takes the bartender up on her advances. What will come of this one night stand? we'll have to see!
Tumblr media
(Left: Mari, Right: Avi, the Fae)
Intermission
Intermission is a psychological horror novel I wrote years back. I've written a few drafts of it, and I want to take this year to fully finalize it and have it ready to be published for Spoopy season in October. I'll post the chapters here to Patreon exclusively as I finish the chapters, so if you read that one Aces Wild (see below) and thought "I wanna read that!" well this will be your chance to get in early!
Tumblr media
In truth, I have some more One-Off Zine ideas written down, but it's probably best to start with the above projects and see where I go from there before trying to overwhelm myself with too much to do.

Thank you, Mia @so-why-let-your-voice-be-tamed for tagging me in your 2023 writing goals post :)
I don’t have a lot of creative goals for this year because my time and energy are going to be spent elsewhere and tbqh I’m already anxious about it. In addition to homeschooling, I’ll have my own schoolwork to do, and I’m also volunteering more. I might be able to crochet at night before bed, but writing requires more of my brain, so I won’t be signing up for any fests. Zero fic deadlines in 2023!
Writing Goals:
Write a fic for @wankersday (already have a title thanks to nic @louandhazaf and an idea) but this one is no pressure. If I don’t write it, it’s no big deal.
Yarn Goals:
Make a blanket for Tonks because she gets cold and none of the blankets we have are the perfect size
Make this lantern blanket for myself — I already have the yarn!
Tagging @louandhazaf @somethingwittyorother @chickenstuffedwithmozzarella @disgruntledkittenface @lululawrence @reminiscingintherain @becomeawendybird @londonfoginacup to share your creative goals for 2023 ✨

July's Creative Goals
I was tagged by @missytearex, @kingsofeverything, and @londonfoginacup to share my JUNE creative goals, but no one's late to a party like i usually am so i'm just... pretending june didn't exist and am jumping on over to July since we are ALMOST THERE ANYWAY. CRAZY RIGHT. lol so here's my july creative goals in no particular order, and please don't expect all of these to get done, i'm hoping at least 50% do lolol
finish writing my fic for @1dastroficfest hopefully before deadline heh (i'm trying so hard, i swear i am)
depending on deadlines and how they fall, either start writing my sushi fic for @harryshouseficfest or start writing my fic for @1dreversebang when i'm done with the astro fest fic
prep everything for this year's @wordplayfics fest (including info posts, updated links, etc) and open sign ups
continue to update all of my fic masterposts to include the fics i've posted in the last... almost two years because i'm VERY BEHIND
finish knitting the panels for my harry cardigan and get it assembled (yes i'm still working on this after almost two years as well, what can i say. it's been a fucking rough two years for me fam lmao)
keep baking more often like i have been this month
keep the flowers in my garden alive despite the rabbits intent on eating everything
finally hang all the pictures and art i have framed that have been waiting to get put up on the walls for ages
i think that's everything but honestly there's probably more i can't remember lol i will now tag the three who tagged me for june and go ahead and add in @sadaveniren @becomeawendybird @2tiedships2 @disgruntledkittenface and @harrehleh to share their own creative goals for July!

May Goals
Some Set-Backs  May was a roller-coaster for me. I experienced heartbreak and joy within my family and dealt with roommate issues until I was left to live alone. Along with the everyday stresses of life, I also faced some days when my mental health was low. As a result, I didn’t have much time for my creative projects and had to focus on relaxation instead. However, with a new month comes new…

Okay if you write. Listen to me.
Set a daily word goal. Not a big one, because you won't be able to make it every day, you will likely procrastinate and not write at all, or feel guilty about not making the goal.
Set a small goal. Set a tiny goal if you have to.
400? Amazing. 100? Wonderful. 50? Heck yes. One fucking sentance? VALID.
Mine is 200 words a day. I haven't felt particularly inspired recently, but over the past month I've written at least 200 words nearly every day.
Which leads me into my next point: if you have to skip a day THAT'S OKAY. There will come a day when you feel really inspired and write 2000 words, and you'll make it up.
Sometimes I write 200 words and then my creativity runs out, but sometimes I sit down and write a whole lot.
Since I started doing this, my story has progressed so fast, and I feel like this is probably going to be the first full-length novel I finish.
Obviously this method isn't for everyone, but I recommend you try it. If it doesn't work for you that's fine! Find something that does.

Creative goals 2023
Thanks @kingsofeverything for tagging me 😄
I feel like I have less set goals this year. Definitely only knitting and crochet though... Even though embroidery is very tempting, my days aren't long enough.
1. Cumulus blouse in bright red.
The fluffy red yarn I didn't use last year is definitely getting used this year. I've done a lot of this already. The yarn is brushed alpaca silk and it's soooo soft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Ariana cardigan
I've done a few squares for this. Can't wait see it take shape.
Tumblr media
3. Jenny sweater in bright green
Tumblr media
I can't wait to get started on this. I got the yarn for Christmas and the green is beautiful.
Tumblr media
I think that's it for the definite goals. I definitely want to try and use more of my stash. Repurpose the yarn for that jumper I didn't finish in 2022 for example.
I would like to knit more for charity this year as well. I've got plenty of single balls of yarn so might make hats for the homeless again.
Also, I'm sure new goals will arise. When I see pics like this one on Instagram for example, I want to knit them all 😂

DPXDC Prompt #61 Part 5
There were two new arrivals to the dining room. Both with black hair but one of them had an odd white stripe, the stripe reminded him of his hair in ghost form.
The one without the stripe sat next to Tim and the other one sat next to Danny.
“You weren’t kidding when you said they looked identical,” the guy without the stripe said, “Names Richard Greyson, but you can call me Dick”
Dick had a bright smile on his face, it was clear he was a morning person.
Damian made another ‘Tt’ noise at his introduction.
The guy with the stripe in his hair grunted in agreement before holding out a coffee mug for Alfred, who was already standing next to him ready to pour. He took a swig before speaking, “Names Jason, you may look alike but seeing Damian eat meat, even from an alternate universe is weird.”
Danny took a bite of his bacon and swallowed like he was making a point before speaking, “I go by Danny, I faked my death years ago, as far as I’m concerned we were all strangers in my world.” He started, he took a moment to think about exactly how’d he explain everything. He knew it wasn’t exactly a pretty story but he also knew from the stories Talia told him when he was younger that Bruce was all about planning ahead, so keeping information from  him might not be the best way to go about all of this.
He took another bite and swallowed before speaking again, “My foster family is fine though, I have a roof over my head and food. They spend most of their time in their lab working. They study Ectology, or the study of ghosts.” Jason raised an eyebrow at this but didn’t say anything. Danny continued, “They actually succeeded in building a portal to their realm, the realm of ghosts, or Infinite Realm as we call it.”
“We? You say that like you're one of the ghosts” Tim asked laughing a little bit.
He quickly got silent when Danny wasn’t laughing with him.
Damian made another ‘Tt’ noise before speaking, “Clearly this imposter has lost it, ghosts don’t exist and all of this nonsense is just that nonsense.” He glared at Danny.
Danny smiled at him and it caused Damian to falter a little before he glared at Danny again.
“Yes, Ghosts are real,” Danny sighed before continuing, “Trust me, it sounds crazy but I’ve seen some crazy things in my world. Although now I’m wondering if just showing you guys would be easier… Alright I’ll show you all but know that no one except my sister knows. Secret identity and all.”
“Wait,” Dick interrupted, “Does Robin not exist in your world?”
“Robin existed but there hasn’t been a Robin since Joker murdered the last one.” Danny answered.
Everyone fell silent at that and the atmosphere got heavy. Everyone, especially Jason was giving each other knowing glances.
Danny cleared his throat before continuing, “Anyways, yes ghosts exist, unfortunately the portal in this world probably doesn’t work like my own world. It’s been about a year since I turned it on and since I was here in Gotham when they tried it in this world there’s no telling what they did after it didn’t work. Actually now that I think about it, I wonder if they exist here,” he thought about the GIW in his world and it occurred to him. If ghosts weren’t running rampant in Amity Park, they probably didn’t exist here.
He brought out his phone from his pocket and looked it up. His eyes lit up a bit at the information he found. Or more accurately the information he didn’t find. Searching GIW in this world brought zero results, so great he wouldn’t be hunted for existing here.
He let out a sigh of relief at this. He turned to everyone and they were watching him closely. He gave them a small smile, “It’s been a while since I had a moment where I didn’t have to worry about being hunted for existing.” He explained. He figured he might as well get the conversation out of the way no matter how difficult it was.
Everyone at the table was silent as they waited for him to continue. The tension was thick in the air however, you could tell that even though Danny had just arrived everyone was ready to jump to defend him, even if he wasn’t their Damian he was still part of the family even if he had just arrived into their lives. It cemented Danny’s determination to tell them the truth.
He took a deep breath and then spoke again, “The portal didn’t work at first when they tried it, I of course wanted to help so when they were away I went in to see if I could figure out the problem… Long story short, it helps to build the on switch on the outside of the portal. I’m not proud to admit that even with all of my training, there were just too many cords that even I tripped.” He didn’t have to say much else about that as their faces told him they understood what happened. He gave a dark chuckle and continued, “Yeah hurt like hell but I don’t have to worry about losing anything anymore.” He then took his phone and phased it into his chest.
The room went silent again for a moment, but it was broken by Jason who started cackling.
He wheezed for a moment before he got out, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t ready for not Damian to make a fucking pun!”
Meanwhile everyone else was still too stunned to speak. Finally Damian surprisingly spoke, “What else can you do?”
Danny smiled, this was going to be fun.

Danny gets invited into a robotics/mechanics club after he mumbled out the basic idea of his parent's latest invention just by looking at it, the name did help.
He doesn't have much of a choice to recognize what an invention can do based off of its look for his safety.
So mechanics and engineering he just starts picking up from his parents through association.
At some point, he has to modify one because it hurts both humans and ghosts.
His parents are so caught up on the fact that it hurts ghosts as intended that they completely miss that it hurts humans too, severely.
Danny, and Tucker when needed, start modifying the weapons for people's safety. Which Danny gets really good at and starts taking his parent's blueprints and building safer, and mostly better, inventions.
So, when this new classmate overhears the trio discussing on how to fix it. They think Danny would be a great addition to the club, and when they bring it up at their next meeting, everyone else either doesn't believe them or is joking.
Due to gossip and high school hierarchy (by Casper standards), Danny is a freak, loser, and stupid.
This classmate brings Danny's intelligence to himself and tries to urge this kid to come to the club one day after school.
Danny downgrades his own intelligence on engineering that the classmate is befuddled, until being at Casper for longer they understand on why this is.
A school event has this classmate trying to strike high praise on Danny, but even his parents kind of bat him aside to talk about ghosts.
People start gossiping that this classmate has a crush on Danny.
Eventually, they do get Danny to a club and the rest of the members kind of call him out on his crush, in front of Danny. However, he does prove himself and the club agrees to invite him to some kind of multi-school engineering showcase, and they do need one other person to make a full team.
He really doesn’t want to go. Somehow his parents are pushing him to go. At some point, somehow, he's being required to go.
Maybe Tucker and Sam urge him to go, who already noticed Danny's talent. He still doesn't want to leave Amity, but with his friends pushing him to have fun he's more willing to think about it.
Maybe the trip becomes a 50/50 extra credit opportunity on his math and science grades, which he needs.
Marvel: Tony, Peter, and/or Banner are at this event to find future employees or award scholarships.
DC: Bruce and/or Tim are at this event (maybe another as well), to also find future employees or award scholarships.
Maybe there's some kind of lead revealed during this event that helps a case.
They find Danny being isolated by the club except for the classmate and they're curious on why.
The classmate is giving high praises, gifting information that Danny doesn't want revealed, to these people who will actually listen.
This team gets challenged to build something different.
The classmate turns to Danny to help out and he gets invited by the rest, but he doesn't get a say...
Danny sees something wrong and tries to say something, but no one let's him get a word in..
When the build gets judged, it doesn't work. Danny with random parts in hand, fixes it on the spot adding a little touch that makes it work and then some.
He gets high compliments from these very smart people, but he brushes them aside. Not realizing what he did, he'd just really wants to get back to Amity.
While the event is still going on, he gets pulled aside to look over a project or design and he can tell what needs fixed or how to reroute power better (purposeful mistakes meant to challenge him).
Here he is, at an event for school, being given complements and not really noticing.
These people very curious on who this kid is goes searching. Maybe the club kids tell the not-paying-attention-club-advisor that he did nothing.
Maybe the one doing the complimenting calls the school and, petty tattles on the club, gives full praise and offers a scholarship.
Someone can be so focused on either working on what they want to do or what they have to do (in Danny's case), that talent found isn't recognized even if highly complimented by an expert.
The mental image of Tim inviting Danny to the manor to help out with a WE project, and Tim is trying to get him to recognize his own talent. Bonus points if its vigilante associated (like Nightwing's eskrima sticks malfunctioning and sleep deprived Tim can't figure it out). Bonus points if the rest of the family are there over seeing.
Maybe he can't be an astronaut anymore cause he doesn’t fit certain requirements. Maybe he can still work for NASA despite his grades, he fixes a missed problem that would've made the rocket launch unsuccessful, and it was a last-minute change.
