So, my favorite whump tropes…

Well, I love an unequal power dynamic. Especially when it comes to the NSFW side of things. Rarely is consent asked in these circumstances, and if it is, does the disadvantaged party really have any choice but to say yes? Do they have the freedom to say no?

I love bondage because I am a human being with eyes and a working blood circulatory system. Idk how to fully explain it, but when I saw Aladdin at the impressionable age of …what, like four?… that was it for me. Just didn’t know what it was called or that I didn’t have to be embarrassed about it until semi-recently.

I also love culture whump, particularly as it pertains to language barriers. I haven’t published anything on this blog about it yet, but in my personal copy of Whumpee and Whumper’s stories (Khaled and Thomas), they can’t understand each other. One has limited English comprehension, the other doesn’t even know what language his pet is speaking. Of course, this changes as the story goes on, Khaled becomes fluent and forgets his natal tongue (with some encouragement), and that makes it all the harder on him when he’s eventually rescued and returned to his family.

My love of culture whump and language barriers probably stems from my long-underaddressed adoption trauma. I only just realized as I began seriously writing whump this last year that I also had my culture and my mother tongue ripped away from me without my consent, and, like my Whumpee, I may never be able to fully reclaim it in a way I would have if I had grown up within its framework my entire life. (No wonder I always write about it!) That is why, when my Whumpee recovers, he is never the same person he was before he was taken. But he is doing better than he was, even though his tongue stumbles clumsily around words his siblings could say in their sleep. He is happy enough. And that is enough.

Wow, making me emotional again. But it feels good to kind of lore dump/give backstory about the author now and again. And I do feel kinda better. So thanks!

Do not argue! Whump is weird. It's morally neutral and it is weird, like a lot of other morally neutral kinda-gross-to-outsiders weird things, such as, for example, furry fandom. And yes like furry fandom sometimes it's sexual and sometimes it isn't. Both approaches are just as weird and just as fine.

Embrace being weird and don't attack our fellow weirdos. One person's gross torture porn is another person's catharsis.

Whumpee freeing Whumper from prison. They don't care how many people told them it was a bad idea, they can't sleep. Whumper, their master, is the only thing on their mind. They can't survive on their own, they're a pet! Pets need their owners! Caretaker wasn't the same.

Whumpee breaks into the prison in the middle of the night and search for them. Once they find the right cell, they have to stop themselves from crying with joy. Whumper's eyes widen at the sight of their former captive.

"Whumpee? How . . . why . . . what are you doing here?" they whisper.

Whumpee digs through their bag before pulling out a lockpick they stole from Caretaker. "I'm getting you out of here, Master! I'm so sorry for being away for so long. You can punish me if you like."

Whumper's face slackens. "For this? No no, sweetheart. You don't deserve punishment. But we have to talk about this later, lockpick the door before the guards return."

Whumpee smiles and begins to lockpick the door. Once they open it, Whumper hugs them, running their fingers through their hair. Whumpee couldn't be happier.

This outfit featured in the drawing is traditional from the North East region, which is the one I'll be rambling about since is the one I know the most

This outfit isn't used for day-to-day and casual ativities, but mostly for special events.

The dress' name is baianinha

Before going into more details, it is important to highlight how the country, and specially the North East part of it were influenced by african culture.

The Africa is a wide and huge continent, full of the most diverse cultures, some of which, due to the diaspora, were bought here.

The Brazilian culture is, fundamentally, a mix of indigen, african and portuguese culture. Our language was a contribuition of the Portugueses, and many of it was also influenced by the Tupi (one of the most spoken indigen languages in the territorry), from which we have many many many words. The enslaved black people bought here also bought their cultures, and that was a big influence for the cuisine, the dances, the kid games and the clothes. We all know what Europe looks like and their culture doesn't differ much so we know what portugueses bought (some influence in the cuisine, the clothes ofc, the dances and stuff).

Dependong of the area of the country you're in, some specifics aspects of the culture may stand out. For some historical reasons (I won't be explaining here becaude it would make this way longer), the european imigrants from Modern Era went mostly to the South, and the black enslaved and no-more-enlaved were concentrated in the North East; the native people (indigenous brazilians) managed to stay in the North, and as so you can see a larger influence of White Culture in South and South East, a larger influence of Black Culture in the North-East, and a larger influence of Indigenous Culture in North.

The baianinha outfit has its roots bonded to afro-origined not only culture, but religions, like the candomblé and ubanda, in which the praticers use similar clothing. In Bahia (North-east), one of the most black influenced states of Brazil, this one is quite of a symbol.

Day 20 - Master and Servant/Dehumanization

The people who know me on discord know how badly this vampire/blood source AU I have going on with Mariano and Bastian has consumed me. I have no apologies, we're all welcome.

TWs: mind control/brainwashing, vampirism and everything that entails

"Come to me and sit." Bastian filled his voice with intent and magic, pressing his will around the mage's mind. Mariano was stubborn, strong even with the temporary bond linking them. Bastian liked it.

Dark eyes flickered silver for just a moment, the brilliant, temporary pact rings swallowing the night of Mariano's irises like a flash of lightning. He wavered where he stood before turning and walking back towards Bastian. He slotted himself neatly at his side, focus returning to his eyes once he'd settled into the cushions of the sectional.

Mariano blinked. He looked at Bastian, and the vampire saw thought swirling behind his eyes. There was no concern, though, which was...weird. That tended to freak people out. "And that's being thralled?" He asked, sounding curious.

"Yes," Was Bastian's answer. "That's being thralled. I use my will to override yours, and it's uncomfortable for you if you don't listen."

"Will the discomfort grow if I don't obey?"

Bastian shrugged. "Usually. I don't use it very often, so I'm just assuming. It's mostly if someone's being stupid and are gonna get themselves hurt."

"And the bond is necessary?" Mariano asked. There was no accusation in his voice.

"It's not, but it makes it easier to thrall you. Sort of like it's a back door into your mind."

Mariano seemed pleased with that answer. "Alright." He said, some odd tension melting from his shoulders. "I think I like this." He pressed himself closer to Bastian, and something strange prickled at Bastian's mind. This wasn't right--something was wrong with this guy. "I want to be your bonded blood source."

Weird as he was, Bastian couldn't help but shrug and accept the offer. Mariano smelled amazing--like some gourmet wine, aged just to perfection. Yes, he was scarred up, and a convicted felon and war criminal, and the weirdest human that Bastian had ever met, but willing, even-tempered, delicious food wasn't something to turn his nose up at.

"...Fine, alright." Bastian said with a shrug. "You have the job. C'mon, let me show you to your room and make that bond permanent. We'll have our first feeding tomorrow night."

Not even that was enough to shake Mariano, who stood to follow Bastian upstairs with a contented smile.
