Hans Gruber misses you
Tumblr media
Rain platters and streams down your window. What a night, you're glad to be safe and warm inside. It’d be better if your love was there with you, though. To enjoy a nice evening on the couch, reading in his arms, a nice drink on the table to warm you up from the inside.
Work comes first for him, you think, a little bitterly, but you know that’s just your brain talking shit. It's not true, but your brain can't help it sometimes. In fact, you've never felt appreciated like you do when you're with Hans. Just as you move to get the plaid blanket draped over your feet, the telephone rings. You jolt and almost run to the kitchen to pick it up.
“Yes?”
No one calls this late, no one except…
“Liebling." Hans. His voice fills you with warmth. “You’re still up.”
You hum softly, smiling. “The bed is cold without you. How is it on your end?”
“We are just wrapping up here,” he says, tone smooth, and there’s shouting in the background. The engine of a car starts. Your heart skips a beat at the thought of him home with you tonight. “So I’ll be with you soon. Will you stay up for me, Schönheit?”
You nod, even though he can’t see you, twirling the phone cord around your finger. “I will.”
“Be good for me and get the champagne cold. I want to celebrate with you.”
As far as the phone cord allows you, you move to the living room to get the bottle off the rack and put it in the fridge. “Of course. Come home safe.”
“Bis gleich, Liebling.” It’s a promise.

Christmas Khaos
Tumblr media
{Masterlist}
~Five days of Fluffmas~
You settle in with the Mikaelsons for a cozy Christmas movie night, but when movie choices spark a sibling feud, chaos ensues.
1k words - No warnings, no smut! just pure fluff.
Tumblr media
You were cautiously carrying your mug of hot cocoa into the living room of the Mikaelson compound, observing Kol and Rebekah putting the finishing touches on the Christmas tree as you sat down on the sofa next to Elijah. The plan for the evening involved watching one of those cheesy holiday movies while snuggling in blankets with hot cocoa or eggnog.
"So, what movie did you all decide on?" you asked curiously.
"Die Hard," Kol smirked as he finished placing the last ornament on the tree.
"We already watched that a few days ago," Klaus huffed as he walked into the room. "I want to watch the Grinch."
"Of course you do," Kol scoffed.
"Those movies are terrible. We should watch a better one, like Love Actually!" Rebekah argued.
You turned to Elijah, who had decided not to involve himself in the argument. As the rest of the siblings bickered, you asked him quietly, "What do you want to watch?"
He looked over at his arguing siblings, then back at you. "I will always vote for whatever you want to watch."
You blushed and smiled, "Awww. That's sweet, but I'd still like to know your opinion. Do you have a preference?"
He was silent for a moment, looking deep in thought. "The Nutcracker."
"Seriously?" Kol said, breaking out of the argument he was having.
"Absolutely, The Nutcracker it is then," you announced, earning a raised eyebrow from Kol.
"Are we seriously going to watch a ballet?" he exclaimed, feigning disbelief.
Rebekah rolled her eyes, "Oh, come on, Kol! It's a classic! Plus, it's way better than your Die Hard obsession."
Kol shot back, "Die Hard is a Christmas masterpiece, unlike your sugary romantic dramas."
"We are watching The Nutcracker," Elijah said firmly.
The siblings groaned, but they still settled into the living room. You got up to put the movie in the DVD player, then returned to the sofa, sitting between Kol and Elijah. You grabbed the remote, and when you went to press play, nothing happened. You tried again, same result.
Elijah let out a deep sigh and stood, kneeling in front of the TV to fix the issue. Kol turned to you, giving you a sweet smile.
"So, darling, have any plans for New Year's?"
"Yeah," you nodded. "I'm going to a party in the Quarter."
"A party," he hummed. "I suppose you will be needing a ride there."
You gave him a questioning look. "Yeah… I guess."
He leaned in close to you, whispering into your ear, "I will gladly take you. In fact, I could take you home as well."
He leaned back, giving you a devious smirk. You bit your lip, feeling a little flustered. Kol was so hot, and the two of you had hooked up a few times. He was always so sweet and charming afterward and was just a good time in general. However, sometimes he was a little too flirty and mischievous for your taste. He had a habit of getting you into trouble. As his hand came down to rest on your thigh, you realized how easy it was for him to talk you into doing something reckless and dangerous. You had already done a lot of reckless things with him.
"H-how's the TV looking?" you asked Elijah, trying not to sound flustered.
"I can't figure out the source of the problem," Elijah replied, looking behind the TV.
Kol's hand started slowly inching higher up your leg. Your breath hitched as his thumb brushed against the inseam of your pants. You looked up to see Kol's smirk widen. He was really enjoying messing with you, and you were tempted to let him.
"Well, if it's not getting fixed anytime soon, I'll go get another hot cocoa," Rebekah announced, walking past the couch.
Suddenly the room erupted into chaos, the beautiful Christmas tree came crashing down, ornaments shattering on impact and scattering across the floor like glittering confetti. The air was filled with the jarring sound of glass breaking and the collective gasp of astonishment from everyone present. Everyone looked at it in shock, then jumped as the TV began blasting Christmas music at an alarming volume.
"Oh, for the love of—" Klaus started, but his voice was drowned out by the blaring Christmas music.
Elijah, still on his knees in front of the TV, frantically tried to mute the sound.
"Klaus, what did you do now?" Rebekah exclaimed, narrowing her eyes accusingly.
Kol, seizing the opportunity, grinned mischievously, "I bet Klaus sabotaged the tree to avoid watching The Nutcracker. Crafty move, brother."
“How am I getting blamed for this? I was standing across the room!” Klaus yelled in defense.
Rebekah crossed her arms, unconvinced. "Convenient, Klaus. Very convenient."
Kol chimed in, "Maybe the tree was threatened by Klaus's Grinchy energy."
Amidst the chaos, Elijah rose from in front of the TV, his calming presence attempting to restore order. "Enough, all of you! Let's focus on cleaning up this mess and salvaging what's left of our evening."
As Rebekah and Klaus continued to argue, and Elijah attempted to restore order, Kol's lips brushed against your ear again, his tone suggestive, "Care to get out of here?"
"Absolutely," you said, getting up from the couch.
Kol grabbed your hand and led you upstairs to his room. The moment you both entered, he pulled you into a kiss. The door closed behind you, muffling the echoes of the Mikaelson drama downstairs. Kol's mischievous grin persisted as he gently pulled away, guiding you backward towards his bed.
"Care to share what exactly you did downstairs?" you asked, a playful glint in your eyes.
"Just a little Christmas magic, darling," he smiled, leaning in to kiss you again.
You were sure the Mikaelsons would figure out it was Kol and come looking for him, but you weren't too worried. You knew how much trouble Kol was going to get in. Maybe you'd let him get away with it for a little while.
Besides, it was the most wonderful time of the year.

The worst thing about writing smut is that you can't ask someone to peer review it. Like, I'm not gonna ask my friend (who's not even in the mcyt fandom) to read over my Majorwood smut-shot where Scott is in heat I'd honestly rather kill myself than do that

Like I mentioned on my previous post, there’s a particular aspect of how Steph got fired from being Robin that I find particularly interesting. (And based on your tags, @alvindraperzzz, you're going to enjoy this as well ;) )
So, just as a reminder, this is the deal that Stephanie and Bruce make when he agrees to let her be Robin:
Tumblr media
"You're on probation. You don't learn any of the big secrets. And the first time you disobey my orders, is the precise moment you're out. No second chances."
Here's what makes this interesting: Tim also had a probationary period. It took place between 1989's "A Lonely Place of Dying" storyline and 1991's Robin miniseries, happening in scattered pieces across bits of Batman, Detective Comics, and other associated books.
Aside from changes in comm-tech between 1989 and 2003, there's only two major differences between Steph's probationary period and Tim's. First, Tim already knew the biggest of the Big Secrets, so he gets moments of interacting with Bruce and Alfred in civilian mode and even stays with them during school holidays. And second, Tim was not allowed his own costume and was forbidden from going out on patrol. Presumably, this second difference comes from a mix of Bruce's implied scheme to lure Tim back, Steph already having copious experience on the streets as Spoiler, and just general management of their differing personalities.
The important thing is, during this time, Tim was under the same restrictions as Steph: stay out of this fight, and if you disobey me you're gone. And there came a time, right at the end, where Batman wound up in a dangerous situation versus a supervillain (in this case, Scarecrow) and the would-be Robin chose to break the rules. What's interesting is the parallels and differences between the two scenes, and how, if you're paying attention, they're pretty consistent, despite their very different endings.
For one, in Tim's case, he's not initially on the scene, and he doesn't have contact with Bruce (like I said, 1980's comm-tech -- Oracle wasn't even a thing yet). This means that he isn't defying direct orders when he chooses to act. And he doesn't rush in himself right off the bat -- his first choice is actually to dial up Commissioner Gordon on the landline.
Tumblr media
It's only after he runs out of ways to get a hold of Batman and warn him of the danger that he makes the decision to go out. And he does so very conscious of the fact that this is going to cost him Robin, in spite of the months of work he's put in.
Tumblr media
Stephanie, on the other hand, is on the scene and has a direct line to Batman. She's chattering in his ear the whole time, to the point that he has to tell her to be quiet because she's distracting him. And when the fight gets going, he tells her repeatedly that he's doing fine, don't come in here, stay in the plane.
She lasts maybe fifteen seconds before abandoning her comms and diving in.
Tumblr media
She doesn't wait or consider her options. She doesn't even give their deal so much as a passing thought. She simply assumes that she knows better than him and leaps in without thinking. Which mostly just demonstrates that a) she doesn't trust him which is bad when you're trying to form a partnership, and b) she can't be trusted to follow orders.
Also, frankly, she demonstrates poor judgement by completely misjudging the situation. Bruce does not need her help. Even injured, he's doing just fine. Stephanie rushing in is nothing but a distraction and, ultimately, what loses the fight.
Tumblr media
Tim, on the other hand, judged the situation correctly. When he arrives on the scene, Batman (and innocent civilian Vicki Vale, not shown for space) is in trouble. He's been caught by Scarecrow and genuinely needs the back-up because he's being psychologically tortured.
Tumblr media
Another parallel is that both Robins wind up in trouble as a result of coming to Batman's rescue. Which makes sense, they're teenagers versus adults with super-tech, training and horrible fear chemicals.
In Tim's case, he gets doused with fear gas (specifically "essence de trauma" because this was back when Scarecrow had specific strains of his stuff) which trapped Tim in an illusion of the very recent attack on his parents. Seriously, this is happening like, the day after they buried his mother.
But! He pulls himself out of it with the help of what might be hallucinations or might be the ghosts of Jason Todd and the Earth-1 Dick Grayson (it's never explained because this was the late 80s and nobody questions this stuff when half the creative staff is running on cocaine.) He then manages to turn the tables on Scarecrow and actually save the day.
Stephanie, on the other hand, gets herself caught.
Tumblr media
Which, like I said, loses Batman the fight. And more importantly, it puts Steph's life in danger and she's not able to get herself free.
And it isn't like she doesn't have the opportunity, in-universe. This is where the scene ends, but Bruce recaps on the next page how Scarab, quote, "Left Robin tied up, but alive and uninjured" when she stole the Bat-plane to make her escape.
So, if you're a reasonable person, I hope you can see how there's already multiple strikes against Steph that don't really apply to Tim: she broke the rules thoughtlessly instead of with consideration, she defied direct orders instead of taking initiative on her own, and she completely misjudged the situation, putting herself in danger for no real reason and costing Batman the fight.
But now, we come to the difference that almost everyone overlooks, but I think is the real key to the whole thing: how each Robin behaves in the aftermath.
Because, see, Tim comes to Bruce immediately afterwards and owns up to everything.
Tumblr media
I really like this scene because what Tim says here is very deliberate. He doesn't make excuses or try to deny anything. He simply explains himself and then apologizes, fully willing to accept the consequences of his actions.
It's a very mature thing to do. I couldn't have done it at 13. I'm not fully confident I could do it now, at 33. And in return, Bruce says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the story where Tim earns his wings. In the next two pages, he's given his costume and is officially made the new Robin. And it's because he demonstrates, through his actions in this story, that he understands both the weight of the legacy and the very real responsibility he's about to leap into.
Compare that to how it goes down with Steph.
Like I said in my previous post, despite Bruce saying she'd be out "the precise moment" she disobeyed him, Bruce doesn't fire her immediately after the Scarab incident. Instead, the story skips ahead by three weeks, until after Bruce has recovered from his injuries.
Tumblr media
This is something he's shown consciously choosing to do, though he doesn't explain why. I like to think it's to give her time to consider her actions.
Note the difference in the way that Steph behaves: she shows up in her costume, with the standing assumption that they're going to go after Scarab. The only thing that she thinks would've prevented them from doing so is Batman's vision not healing.
She feels "guilty" about him being blinded, but that just demonstrates that she doesn't really understand the situation -- Batman was blinded while she was in the plane. Which implies that what she feels "guilty" about is not disobeying him sooner. The fact that she put herself in danger, the fact that she broke the rules, these things never cross her mind.
You'll note that she doesn't apologize either. Again, it's probably not deliberate, but "I feel so guilty, it was all my fault!" is not the same thing as "I'm sorry." The former is what you say when you're trying (consciously or not) to get the person you've wronged to comfort you. To tell you that it's okay, you didn't mean to do it, everybody messes up so don't feel bad. Which you'll note that Bruce does.
It's only after Steph does this, comes to him acting like nothing's wrong and they just had a little oopsie-daysie on the way to their next rip-roaring adventure, that Bruce finally drops the bomb.
Tumblr media
Note the "direct order in the field" specification.
Stephanie only starts to admit that she did something wrong after she realizes she's going to be punished, and even then, she's not apologizing, and she's not owning up to her actions. She's making excuses, trying to wheedle out of the consequences of her own actions. And not once does she ever seem to internalize that she could have died.
And all of this is very in-keeping with her personality as established up to his point.
Tumblr media
In short, while the two situations are very similar, Stephanie's actually demonstrates the exact opposite of Tim's: even after years of being Spoiler and multiple occasions where her own life, civilian lives, and the lives of people she supposedly cares for have been on the line, she's still treating this all as a game where the most important aspect of the outcome is how she feels about it. It's not just that she made "one mistake," this is part of a pattern for her, one that demonstrates very aptly that she does not understand the danger she's putting herself in, doesn't respect the guidance of the people who are trying to teach her, and frankly, has no interest in ever getting better, because she doesn't think she has a problem.
It can't be her fault, after all. She just made a little mistake! It's everyone else who're being unfair to her, holding her to rules and agreements she never meant to honor, and they'll all see as soon as she can prove them wrong...
And we all know where that leads.
Now, there are people who believe that this entire issue is simply unfair to Stephanie. And yeah, there's an entirely different discussion to be had about the out-of-universe decisions surrounding this story, the intention of the creators, etc. But I think everything that happens here in Robin #126 is as in-keeping for Steph's personality as the events of Batman #457 are for Tim. And I believe that, in both, Bruce's reasoning is fair and based on sound judgement, not sexism.
Still, they're very fun to compare. The nuances between the different relationships is very interesting.

Dinner with Hans Gruber
Tumblr media
There he was, sitting opposite of you at the small restaurant table. It’s been a while. It’s a nice restaurant, in regal building with high ceilings and impeccably dressed staff. He always likes to spoil you when he’s back from a mission.
Smiling softly, he looks at you, really looks at you, taking in every detail. A waiter comes to the table, ready to take your orders, but after seeing the way the two of you sit there, with no regard for him, menus untouched, he backs off.
“Mein Herz,” is all Hans says, his deep voice sending a jolt down your spine.
You smile gently and extend your hand to his, entwining your fingers. He plays with your rings, still drinking you in. Soft string music plays, the candle in between the two of you flickers. He choose this place well; romantic, luxurious yet cosy. The murmur of people dining and enjoying themselves only empathise the comfortable silence at your table.
“Sometimes I fear I will forget the sound of your voice,” you say.
“I’ll take you with me, next time,” Hans promises, his smile makes his eyes crease with crow’s feet. “I’m glad to see you’ve been well.”
It’s always felt like there was something special between him and you, something you were never able to find with anyone else. It shows in his perceptiveness, how he doesn’t need you to tell him what’s on your mind, that you’ve missed him while he was away or what you’d like for your birthday. He just knows. After being together this long, you’ve learnt to pay attention to him the same; right now he’s glad to see you again. He missed you. His gig went well, but he disliked the smog of the big city. Most of all, he looks forward to slipping into comfortable anonymity with you.
The waiter returns and this time you do order.

Chapter 27: Dandelions and dances
"Make a wish," you said, turning to him. Ominis had his eyelids closed, still and silent; he could have already been asleep, but a small smile crossed his lips and fingers wrapped around your waist. "A wish?" "A dandelion. You…you've never wished on a dandelion before? I used to do it all the time as a child," you said, observing his questioning frown. "It doesn't sound like something that I would have been allowed to indulge in as a child." You clasped his hand, turning it over and placing the stalk into his palm. "Make a wish and blow it, the seeds float off, by the wind they're meant to carry your thoughts and dreams to your loved ones." "My loved one is already here," he said, completely seriously. "Though I can blow it into your face if you'd like."

I may be a bit harsh but I think Gene was the only thing carrying this movie. Like it was chaotic in a great way but nothing at all was that fleshed out. Things just kinda happened? But there was no basis really to the things that happened.
Velvet though was great and I wouldn’t trade her for the world. So I’m going to write a stupid fanfic trying to flesh all of this turn my brain into the end of a freshly burned incense stick real quick. I still recommend the movie though because it’s a hella fun watch :)
I can’t get over the fancy text effects on tumblr
Later edit but oh my god I forgot to say the other actors did fucking great and the main character’s best friend was absolutely amazing and he was a total vibe I LOVE HIM FUCK

Oh. I just caught up on your timeline. I apologize, I'm not too familiar on using Tumblr. You saying you're rereading scenes of GD makes me happy. Either it's foolish or not it gives me hope that perhaps you'd want to come back to it no matter how early to call it, it'd be best thing out of 2023. I'm mindblown over how phenomenal it is - I didn't expect to find your fic and reread it in 2 weeks time. Just wanted to say thank you for writing this. And hopefully we can learn how it continues 1 day
Okay, I missed the boat on 2023, but I already wrote that little piece for 2024 and I'm only at Costa del Sol in the game. I really hate to say I'll never go back to a fic and GD has been on hiatus a LONG time, but there's still another third remake game, the rest of the second one, and if people start sending me Seph/Cloud fanfic who knows where I'll end up.

so here's the deal. i bought totk the day it released. i got it. i started playing it but then we went on our long awaited planned it for 3 years 1 week vacation and less then 48 hours after i'd returned from that BAM, i was in australia. and what was there to do now? we played taiko, dog, so much taiko, we lived together, 3 college kids in an apartment with a balcony with a view of the city skyline. it was the craziest thing i'd ever done. i loved and cried and fought and learned and grew and got so mf good at taiko and learned that there was still more to do and cooked and cut onions and ate obscene amounts of yogurt and then when it was over it was already august and we were standing at the airport sobbing into each other's shirts not wanting to let go but eventually we did we got on our planes home and then, only then, did i find the space in my heart and schedule and hands to play totk. three weeks later, i was in america
