well first and foremost the vibes of the song fits heiya perfectly fhgjk but also lyricism and tone... yep. quick breakdown of heiya's background since i doubt i'll ever be able to do it properly she's an interesting character for me because she like a lot of my other characters has lost. everything. she had a wife and a child and they were both killed and she had to leave her home again and again and unlike how some of my others would have taken this she has never flagged in her unwavering dedication to preserving hope. for herself for her people for the future etc etc. which is a very fucking difficult thing to do! the world changes faster than you can keep up with it sometimes but for heiya she will not let herself tire and be swept away in it all. people rely on her. she's a guiding star as much as she is a woman. she's a lover and a fighter and thats what buffalo replaced means to me! so

Do you ever think about the way Azriel feels this need to prove himself useful—which is why he so clings to his titles and his job—for if he is needed, he cannot be abandoned?

Do you ever want to shout from the rooftops that Azriel is so much more than this « darkness » he cloaks himself in, and that he doesnt need someone to heal him & « handle his darkness ». Healing, for Az, does not mean fighting & ‘killing’ his demons, it means being at peace with himself & learning to live with them without needing to mask who he is. He needs to begin to believe that there is darkness and light in him to love.

Truly, how has the fandom decided that Azriel, who follows the sound of Elain’s laugh, who listened to her when no one else would & didnt let her be misunderstood, who trusted her with TT so she could protect herself & those she loves, who stayed up past 3am as she spoke of her passions, who made everyone wait for her to eat, who chooses to sun his wings next to her in peaceful, quiet company… is an entitled, flaky male that sees her as nothing but a sexual distraction?

Do people really not realize what it means for him to question the Cauldron, question the very core of his beliefs?

1) It is not his feelings he questions:

His mind is tortured by thoughts of Elain, so much so he can’t sleep;

They do not need words to communicate, indicating familiarity & understanding;

He IS showing more than “just lust”, it’s clear from their interactions since the first trilogy. There was something there before Nessian happened.

2) Not only does he believe himself unworthy of her, but that sentiment is reinforced by the fact that the Cauldron “broke the pattern”. I do not see the entitled man the fandom speaks of. What he is is a deeply traumatized man, who was abused as a boy by the people who were meant to love him & protect him.

The popular thought that Az would fold for a mate, regardless of who she (or he) is, is truthfully not attractive, not to mention that it implies he’d only risk love for a “guaranteed” happy ending.

=> “Az wants a mate therefore give him a mate” is counterproductive to his growth (tho to clarify, i am not saying he should not have a mate, just that there is a way the story should be told.)

We have seen him plan for snowball fights & tactical missions, yet never for his future: not with Elain—again, he never even actually allowed himself to consider pursuing her—but not in any other sense either:

Children? he tells Cass he doesnt know if he wants any—has he ever let himself imagine having a child? A house ? he has no place to himself. Remember that even after 500 years of existence, Az says he still does not know where he belongs?

Could you not imagine two people who make themselves what others need them to be, being brave enough to bare those hidden, repressed parts of themselves to the other. Can you not see the growth it would require from both of them should they give themselves a chance? To, on one hand, choose the other despite what is expected & the problems it would cause, and on the other, be vulnerable enough to receive that love & believe yourself worthy of it.

Love doesnt care for convenience. It could all go to hell but at least they’d know they had tried, and i do not see how that could ever make for a boring, 2 dimensional story.

I love TicciWork in the sense of a boy who has a knack of crashing and burning, and a girl who's always cold so she doesn't mind the heat.

All Toby knows is that he wants to be around her all the time, he wants to piss her off, get a reaction, he wants to make an imprint in her life in any way. He knows that he's weirdly protective over her, but never says anything because he knows she can protect herself. Toby knows that being around Clockwork is like a breath of fresh air. She doesn't judge him, she doesn't baby him or treat him like a freak. She doesn't idealize him, she doesnt control him, she treats him like a person in the ways no one else does.

He always hated being touched before he started holding her hand. He never thought twice about the sound of a clock ticking. Toby's entire life had been impacted in so many ways from the girl he would never admit he loved more than life itself.

Clockwork knows she feels safe with the boy, for some reason. She trusts him, she knows he doesn't have any bad intentions. Clockwork knows that when she pushed everyone away, that stubborn asshole would refuse, and push right back. She knows she likes his jokes, and his smile, and she hates to admit that his sly compliments always gets to her. And she never seems to have nightmares when she falls asleep by him. She knows that they're one in the same. Weird freaks in their own right, and she'd kick the ass of anyone who talked bad about him, because she doesn't tolerate that stuff.

She would always find herself a little bit more at ease, a little happier, when Toby came around. Clockwork would always find herself drawing him in her sketchbooks. Sometimes, she would find herself missing him.

Those two would do anything for each other, whether or not they'd admit it. They are each others safezone from the war outside. They have such a deep unspoken trust and care for each other that stays even when they fight.

In what ways do you believe V would display romance and affection?

V is... a difficult one smh. she hardly even allows anyone to touch her, and the solver had altered her AI beyond the possibility of her being able to relearn a new personality easily- or at least not overnight. Its like a semi-perminant trauma response.

so lets see-

V is prideful, even if she doesnt flaunt it like J, she couldnt bring herself to actually face people when shes doing something kind for them, she usually does it from behind the curtain. she doesnt want anyone to know she has anything soft about her, shes still scared of getting hurt, we have seen this several times during the show where she gets put off by the solver when Uzi uses it.

But when in a relationship she had to deal with the fact that the bond has to go both ways. it was... not easy for her to even admit she liked to be in a relationship in the first place. in fact i doubt if any of them even thought about it at all- before they knew what was happening they were all just an inseperable part of eachothers lives, and try as she might, N and Uzi just knew she cared about them lol.

V learned to open up a bit more. She opts for silence rather than flat out lying to peoples faces now, and when she feels ready to share something the others hear her out.

another thing that V does is trying to participate in things N and Uzi suggest. its really not easy to deal with 2 people who are so emotionally charged- so N and Uzi dont blame her for sitting out of activities but she tries to join them just to have the company, like going out around the desolate human cities looking for random stuff and sharing interests, or cuddling in a fort and doodling stuff- maybe even sometimes dancing or looking for clothes and getups. even though she might not participate in the activity herself, she still likes to be present and that itself shows N and Uzi that she cares.

speaking of clothes, Vs time with Lizzy showed her that a part of her still wishes she had the freedom to live as a normal drone for all the time that was robbed of her. she likes to look pretty and she likes to wear pretty outfits... something that she might have not had the choice on even if she had lived all her life as a normal drone. and showing the other two some of the outfits she choses and prettying herself up for her partners is probably a side of her shes not gonna willingly let anyone else see any time soon. N and Uzi arent complaining :p

Initiating any physical affections is something that she does rarely but sometimes even she craves the attention. Uzi and N feel like a cat had chosen to trust them lmao. She used to start really simple like curling her tail around N or Uzi or their leg or tail- she opted to skip hand holding and just go towards hugs or cuddles whenever she wanted the attention or N and Uzi were idly doing something and she just decides to join. sometimes she would demand neck scratches and rubs or head pats, she usually doesnt let anyone simply touch her so those are a big deal. and well if she goes for more like kisses or anything more intimate, she makes sure that her partners are okay with it and that shes not bothering them or forcing them by doing so.

Sleeping. thats it. V hardly allows herself to rest. the fact that she would let herself sleep around N or Uzi or even cuddle with them shows shes immensely trustful and happy of where she is right now. N and Uzi want to expload cuz its like a cat had fallen asleep on them and now they cant move cuz they dont wanna wake her up TvT

I hate how people blame mental disorders for azula's breakdown when it is clearly the result of inner turmoil from her repressed feelings. Just because you have a breakdown does not necessarily mean you have a mental disorder, sometimes people can just snap under pressure and lost control of their minds. Not to mention these diagnosises don't even fit her profile. She has no symptoms of true mental disorders other than stereotypes. Anyone would inevitably lash out in these circumstances, and she hallucinated from stress. It has gotten so bad that "insane" has become a defining trait of her character when she only acted like that at the very end of the show, and the franchise tries to sell and market it. Her arc is still unresolved to this day because the writers made her character into a lunatic villain, its like her breakdown has become her whole identity now. It just erases all of her complex characterization. azula is a 14 year old girl with abandonment/neglect issues who craves love and ozai used that to groomed her to be a ruthless and detached child soldier, he emotionally isolated Azula and she put all of her energy into gaining his approval because she's been taught that her worth is dependent on success, which is measured by Ozai. This explains her perfectionism. Azula's military upbringing has stunted her into weapon of war. She does not have the social skills to normally interact with people so she uses fear/intimidation to control her friends like a military commander would. Thats her only framework. Fear/intimidation ensures loyalty, azula values loyalty more than anything else because she wants her loved ones to stay. (Hence why her breakdown is started by personal losses & betrayal). Ozai taught her that love is a transactional power dynamic. Thus Azula hides her true feelings behind a persona to protect herself from emotional vulnerability and doesnt know how to express love without an alibi to cover it up- that would require trusting others. Her breakdown is ultimately caused by her inability to reconcile two different conflicting needs; to be a ruthless and detached military commander vs emotional vulnerability

Fifty-Six :

"Human" (absolutely not)

Ship captain! has the most experience of the whole crew (they've been here way longer than anyone else. longer than anyone could survive this job)

Maybe a little too happy about the job. takes it very seriously

Prefers to go alone hates taking equipment bc it takes up space they could use for something else

prides itself on efficiency . has everything down to a system

looks scary but they're actually pretty nice and soft (both figuratively and literally)

pretty secretive, mostly lying through omission . doesn't like to talk about themself

doesnt like to be seen without the suit and helmet on. it has to happen eventually but it hates it, raises too many questions. it can try to look more human but its not perfect.

has a tier list in its head of every single piece of scrap for deciding priority of what to take back to the ship. it has a second tier list for if it gets hungry

huge soft spot for cute things. likes rubber ducks and plushies and things like that . will make exceptions in it's efficiency and priorities to take them even if they're low worth

Feels like they need to be doing something with their hands constantly

really likes Zachary, they're very close. doesn't want anything to happen to it... will agree to go together with Zachary despite usually preferring to go alone

likes Elliot, she's alright, she works hard. thinks she's a bit too reckless and hard on herself

alright with Morgan. they don't entirely get along but it's not too bad so it's alright . he notices the weird looks Morgan gives him, no clue what that's about.

Zachary :

Masked picked up from Rend after it tried to hide in a ship and the autopilot left

got "hired" by The Company. it doesn't like this. but it doesn't have a choice

it promises promises PROMISES it won't infect its coworkers. but it wants to so bad. it wants to help them. but it won't.

TERRIFIED of The Company building. absolutely refuses to leave the ship there. Fifty let's this slide, it doesn't mind having to carry some extra scrap to the desk

absolutely refuses to wear the helmets, its uncomfortable and its worried it'll get scratched or something . its fine without it,if that was going to hurt them it would've a long time ago

needs to go with someone in the facilities, becomes very distressed if alone for too long

it'll take equipment if asked, but it often forgets to use things like walkie talkies. it also struggles using it (it has a hard time with the buttons and small things like keys are really hard for it to hold)

hates this job and wants to leave but its scared of what would happen

very touch starved and having no other maskeds around has been effecting it.. (if it does see other maskeds on the moons it'll follow them around instead of its crew)

it wants to be closer with the others, at least El and Morgan are cautious around it. they dont really trust it much

El trusts it more at least, if 56 cant go with it it'll usually goes with her instead (also because Morgan usually stays in the ship but if they do go in still Zachary will more likely go with Elliot)

Morgan doesn't trust it much, they've dealt with maskeds before

Fifty-Six on the other hand, Zachary REALLY likes him. he doesn't mind it being around and hes nice to it

Zachary is like the first of the crew to have seen 56 without his helmet after it found him with it like completely torn apart. it was really worried about him, scared it got hurt. 56 was alright though dont worry

Elliot :

ACTUALLY a human

mostly goes by El instead of Elliot

youngest of the crew, not much experience but good with a shovel

pretty confident going in the facility, will often lead or even go alone. but absolutely CANNOT deal with coil-heads or nutcrackers. all that confidence goes away when they have to

he has automatonophobia and scopophobia. terrible combination to have here if im being honest

helmet is slightly dented after she tried running from a thumper and slammed into a metal pipe (did get away from it, shes still alive obviously . but that did hurt)

his nose was like broken before, never healed the same so its kinda crooked (this was before being at The Company, probably from getting in a fight as a teenager)

he tends to be kind of hard on himself, very apologetic when he makes any sort of mistakes.

his hair feels like shit. its been like bleached to hell so its all brittle and shit

none of the crew have anything against El but they did agree that if anything happens shes dies first (they have not agreed on what "anything happens" or "dies" entails though)

How do you think the dr2 characters cope with the big sad, what kind they are (good and bad), and who comes to help em out :)

(if you say hajime for assistance because he’s technically the ultimate therapist you’re gonna get your shoes stolen /lh/nsrs)

Hajime.

BUT not because hes the Ultimate therapist, rather because he is very adept at making people feel comfortable. Meta-wise, this is because he's the protagonist of a character-heavy game that encourages you to form a bond with at least one NPC, and most of the NPCs are jerks. Of course you want some encouragement or rewardl and your reward is the NPC opening up and trusting you, the player character.

But since we're not viewing the characters as NPCs in a game, in-world it comes out as Hajime getting even the most suspicious, awkward and stand-offish people to like him enough to overcome some of their issues, meaning he's just a comfortable dude.

So, besides Hajime;

Akane: ignores the big sad for as long as she can. Might have a little breakdown but still tries to get over it way before she's ready by distracting herself or pretending like a comfort worked 100% ("now that I've cried for half a minute I'm FINE haha see ya"). She would go to Kazuichi for distractions and someone who will probably do the crying for her. Slowly starts being open to Fuyuhiko's offer of talking things out, but only when she's already done being sad.

Sonia: Even if she is big sad in private, she has a hard time being real with it in front of others because she tends to pop into inspiration mode. She might pep talk herself (and others) several times without any real progress because she isnt letting it out. Eventually she'll yell and cry and then actually feel better afterwards. I think besides Hajime shed split pretty easily between Akane and Fuyuhiko, who are both awkward around big emotions but ultimately also very helpful.

Kazuichi: Feels big emotions all the time and sadness is a big part of it. He is very capable of feeling the things- its hiding them that's the problem- so he's used to it, but a linger melancholy cloud that doesnt go away even when he's done sobbing about it is a bigger problem. I think he would go to Sonia if he needed point-blank merciless advice (he is careful though, between not wanting to seem like he's pressuring her and not being able to take rejection when he's already so depressed) or Akane for comfort.

Fuyuhiko: it's kinda complicated because he was actually fairly good at dealing with grief in-game (once he was past the passive suicidal ideation) but that was in the middle of a murder game and. I think he would be the type to push it aside for as long as something bigger needs doing, but he suffers for it when there's nothing else to focus on. He feels better when he thinks he has some control so besides Hajime he goes to Souda, who a) has no room to judge and b) wont dare to snitch or get too mushy.

The ones most likely to intentionally seek out the sad people are probably Fuyuhiko (as with Akane post Nekomaru death) and Souda (again Akane & Nekomaru's death). Probably Sonia too? Just based on vibes (and she got Fuyuhiko a get-well-soon present).

Hajime definitely feels like the type to isolate when he actually feels the sad, but he's more likely to get frustrated or listless than outright sad (he also does not have a crying sprite in the game). I think who he goes to is really dependant on what he wants out of the interaction. With Akane, it's easy to forget anything is wrong, but she'll also be a big strong pillar to lean on. Souda is great with distractions and emotional validation (easily affected by other people's moods). Sonia cheers people up and doesnt let anyone get away with wallowing, and Fuyuhiko is a good conversationalist and has experience with actually handling grief (fun fact, all of Fuyuhiko's FTEs revolve around just talking, mayhaps because he has no hobbies besides crime but who knows) .

i find the names in dune quite interesting, especially in regards to paul and chani… chanis “secret” name being desert spring, based on prophecy, forced into this prophecy and trying her best to resist it (never hearing desert spring uttered once until reviving paul, refusal of the benne gesserit religion, etc). unlike paul’s “muad’dib” (kangaroo rat), chani is unmoving as a desert spring and only able to provide water and shelter to the traveller. muad’dib can hop, leap, make its own water, guide itself— but before the kangaroo rat can learn these things, he must drink from the spring and stay within the shelter of it. chani is legit used by paul, whether or not she realizes it (or either of them do), for the prophecy to occur.

i think what makes this all the more tragic, especially in the movie, is that chani clearly sees paul as an ordinary person unlike everyone else. to jessica, paul is a son and the chosen one— the one her people have indoctrinated the fremen into believing hes basically jesus christ standing; stilgar, a messiah— one who will bring rain to dune. chani, however, sees him as a boy. hes a young boy who clearly loves learning about dune, but hes also a dangerous man without fremen blood. she cant let him die, she doesnt trust him to live like stilgar does, but she also knows hes a threat from the first few minutes she sees him. i think she falls in love with the paul who listens and learns, in spite of his blood being royal, yet sees that he still is royal blooded. when his past comes back through gurney, he takes a huge turn as he is reminded of his father and the vengeance he must pay towards the harkonnens. rather than the original fremen taking back their own planet, now this is paul wanting to annihilate anyone who crossed his father. and that means killing every harkonnen, killing the emperor, marrying the emperors daughter in a cold, political alliance to gain the throne, and using the fremen as a weapon.

i mean. in the books paul says that the fremen can be USED. his father AGREES. by marrying irulan, hes playing by the rules of the oppressors to “liberate” the oppressed!!! hes driven by spite and revenge, not the love of the fremen or their world. which is what chani sees in the end of the movie, i believe. she sees he has forgotten the fight is against oppression.

and like. idk i think chani and pauls love BECAUSE of that is so interesting. because chani is right the entire time and yet she loves him so. she warns and does her best to help him while not giving him power, but ends up never being able to control her or pauls destiny, just as a desert spring cannot control who comes and leaves the spring, whether the spring dries up or not, and how the spring cannot move against nature. chani herself is held captive within the narrative despite fighting tooth and nail to change it, tragically so.

“Run.” he scrambles up and away, then out of sight rapidly. The cat doesn’t move.

“Take care of him, but do it like this.” then with what she thinks she hallucinates to be a grin, it takes off with a deep loud yeowl. The second the cat is gone, her eyes meet soft wide brown. “Oh you poor thing.” and now she’s being covered by the cultivator’s own outer robe. She tries to back away, still not trusting her. She doesn’t dare trust anyone anymore! “I’m sorry, I can only imagine what you’ve been through. But let’s get you someplace warm, i can escort you someplace if you need some work, or is your fami-”

“It’s just me!” she snaps, glaring ar ther but clings to the only thing covering her properly. Just to make sure, she glances back at the house, the manor, a short ways away, still smoking. And yes, yes he was dead long before she set the fire. He was- he was gone.

The sudden realization had tension leaving her body. She was finally free. A soft noise comes from the cultivator, which has her focusing again, looking over. She tries to keep glaring, anger keeps her safe now, but it’s hard to hide the fear. And those brown eyes- the last person to look so gently and warmly at her, without pity or anything dark, was- she doesn’t move any closer, they stay quiet for a while. “What if I don't have- anywhere else to go?”

“You could travel with me and my companion until we find someplace you do wish to stay. My name is Xie Lian.” She doesn’t bother to answer her, but now she looks over and smiles, standing as the large cat comes back. It’s got blood on its maw and its paws. And oh that feels good to see.

“Is he dead?” he finds himself asking the cat, it looks over. She finds herself surprised at its silver eyes. But then its lips curl a bit and it purrs, walking over to lay behind her, and licking the blood from its paws. Xie Lian sighs, shaking her head. “Now you stop that. Giornos mom just abandons him after moving to italy and donatella finds him. Despite already struggling to raise one child on her own like hell is she just gonna leave this child, so giorno get adopted by her.

Girono and trish are raised side by side, trish knows about giornos stand but cant see GE and while giorno can see him he doesnt know what stands are and they believe Gold to be some kind of spirit. When thier mother gets sick Gio tries to heal her with his stand but outside of being able to alleviate her pain she is still dying.

When she dies trish and giorno are both devastated and then suddenly these strange men come to take trish away. Oh hell no. Gio insists that they have to take both of them. The gang knows Trish is the bosses daughter and they have no clue who gio is so they refuse to take him.

When they try to take trish by force. Gio reveals his stand and fights them almost killing bruno. So the relent and they take gio with them. So now trish has the body guard team plus an extremely protective brother.

(Gios personality is a bit different than canon Since he was mostly raised by donna who always loved and supported him he is a bit more social and in the beginning since he doesnt like or trust brunos team he is very aggressive towards them. (He eventually get close to them, surprisingly nara was the first to get his favor)He wanted to kill the boss since he tried to kill his sister. It true he doesnt like drug trade but he hadnt really considering the mafia route)

Her eyes locked on Ozpin as she watched the illusion rush to her, arms shaking as she moved her scythe to defend her. 

“You really think you can keep yourself from hurting another one of your friends-” 

Ruby froze as Roman’s voice cut out and the Ozpin illusion turned into Oscar, and then dropped to show Neo. Her arms shook as she realized what she had done as she watched the illusionist drop to the ground, blood spilling around her. She took a step back as the manor started to collapse and shatter while the illusions faded around her. 

The Roman illusion smirked for a moment as his voice came back just as he started to fade. “And now you’ll never be able to be a huntress. No better than the rest of us.” 

Ruby dropped her scythe and stood frozen as the illusionary manor fell apart around her, eyes wide as she tried to take in everything she had done. Once the manor was gone, she found herself more lost than ever as she started to walk through the acre, no longer sure where she had wanted to go. Her heart pounded in her chest with each step, her mind spinning from the words she had heard her friends tell her, that Penny had told her. All she had wanted to do was be a huntress, to save others, and yet, all she had done was hurt her friends. 

“Ruby!” the Curious Cat called out as they made their way to Ruby. “There you are! I was worried sick when I saw you run away from your friends.” 

“You… you were watching us?” 

“Of course? What kind of guide would I be otherwise?” The Curious Cat disappeared briefly and then reappeared in front of Ruby with a smile. “Sure we had a… little tiff, but that’s just what friendship is like, right? Friends always say things they dont mean, but that doesnt mean they have to be shunned. So what do you say we make our way to the tree and get you home?” 

“I’m… not going back.” 

The Curious Cat paused. “I’m sorry?” 

“I’m not going back home.” Ruby sighed and sat down as she looked around her and then to the sky above. “All I wanted was to help others, but Neo’s right. All I’ve done is hurt everyone along the way. I… I dont want to be me anymore, but I… I dont…” she wiped a tear from her eyes and took a breath to steady herself. “They’ll be better off without me there.” 

“N-no… you have to want to go back to Remnant. Surely you want to stop this Salem character, right? Besides, you promised me that you’d take me with you to see Remnant. If you stop here, then… what’s the point?” 

“The point is that I dont hurt anyone else.” 

The Curious Cat frowned and scratched at Ruby. “That’s not how this story goes!” 

Ruby pulled back and held her arm as it bled, fingers shaking. “It’s… it’s my choice to go back, isnt it? I killed Neo to save myself, but that doesnt change what I’ve done to hurt my friends. That I wasnt able to save anyone.” 

The Curious Cat pulled back for a moment as it started to lose color, slowly walking around Ruby. “I guess its about time that I tell you the truth about all of this. I *need* you in order to get to Remnant. I’ve been trying to wear you down, and now that Neo’s done what I couldnt, you dont want to go back? Well, if you dont want to be you, then I can be you for you!” 

Ruby stumbled back as she tried to use her semblance to avoid the Curious Cat as it lunged for her, her semblance erratically pulling her apart and bringing her back together again as she tried to make her way further through the acre. She ran as quickly as she could, trying to push herself until her legs gave out and she stumbled down a cliff. 

“You can run but you cant hide!” the Curious Cat called out. “I will find you!” 

Ruby tried to pick herself up and winced as she could barely pick herself up. A few tears rolled down her cheeks as a storm came and thunder echoed through the sky. Her fingers ran through the dirt as the ground opened up under her, swallowing her up as it did with Herb.

EXCUSE ME??????? ??? ?? ??? bonnie did not get forcibly separated from her mother and entire family as a baby, save for her mentally disabled brother who she had to take care of in a recently post-apocalyptic wasteland, relying only on her own genius to build a safe home for both of them; and then at age thirteen when she finally had enough resources to try and find a new family, create her first attempts at sentient humanoid life only for them to betray her by trying to conversion therapy/straight up LOBOTOMIZE her because her uncle felt threatened by her genius, effectively teaching her that she should never let anyone in no matter how desperately she wants a family (the one thing she has been fundamentally longing for ever since she was ripped away from the mother gum) because they will only ever see her as someone who is “too much” (too smart, too ambitious, not gender conforming enough) and try to “fix” (reduce) her into something more palatable; so she creates a family she can more easily control, people who depend on her and love her without ever fully understanding her (but at least they won’t betray her), and pushes away anyone who does see her beyond the facade she has created, of someone sweet and feminine and non-threatening... for you to claim she DOESNT HAVE A TRAGIC BACKSTORY.

the fact that she “plays god” is actually just a consequence of the fact that she wants a family but is too afraid to reach out to others for fear of getting hurt again, so she makes her own children who rely on her so that she can be their caretaker and feel like the mother gum she’s always missed. yes she is a frankensteinian mad scientist, but that madness doesn’t actually stem from her desire to be a deity, but a mother, and the ego she does have is due to the fact that she knows no one can match her intelligence. yes she’s arrogant about it, but at the same time, she is smarter and scrappier and more resourceful and brilliant than everyone else. it’s just a fact! maybe it makes her a bit of an asshole, but considering the fact that she’s been hurt by patriarchal figures since she was a child for having the audacity to be a #WomanInSTEM, is it really such a crime that she knows her worth?? she is singlehandedly responsible for the entire kingdom/princess system in ooo (a title which she first dubbed herself ironically as a way of spiting the disrespectful, diminishing nickname her abusive uncle always referred to her by), she created an entire longstanding society by herself, she is constantly developing new revolutionary tech in her lab, again, all by herself. yes she’s cold, yes she pushes people away before they can push her away, automatically assumes that anyone smart enough to truly see her will want to exploit her, but she wasn’t always like that. she used to be a genuinely curious, loving, open-hearted kid. she just wanted a family.

but every time she did try to open herself up to love, either familial or romantic, she was betrayed (gumbald, marcy, shoko) with the exception of neddy, who simply does not possess the mental faculties to not rely on her, so what lessons would she realistically derive from that??? that’s why finn is so crucial to bonnie’s arc, because he goes from idolizing her as this beautiful paragon of femininity, to being suspicious of her flaws and actions and doubting whether to even trust her anymore at all, to realizing that yes, she’s flawed, deeply so, and she’s done a lot of fucked up things in her day, but she just wants love like anyone else, and he’s willing to give it to her with no strings attached, because he is a caring and empathetic friend. finn is the catalyst that gets bonnie and marcy back together, and allows bonnie to finally open herself up to what she always wanted most of all: unconditional love.
