Make things right? Or make them worse?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yandere!doctor (platonic to his children) x twin daughters ocs x female!reader
Summary: Dr Kry’s children finds out their fathers dark secret, and he's determined to silence them.
Warnings: toxic household, yandere, favoritism, guilt, poison, mentions of murder (things along this way)
A/N: I have created my own poison for this story, so I choose the effects. Lol.
Word count: 6.2k
“Bye, dad”, Lydia says and closes the car door.
Her twin follows out of the car, almost hides behind her like a shadow. Lydia frowns confusedly. She’s been more silent than usual this morning. They turn to walk into school.
“Girls”, Dr Kry says through the open car window, catching their attention. “I want you here at three sharp, okay? I’m not in the mood for waiting.”
“Yes, sir”, Lydia answers.
“Good. Have a good day, girls, I’ll see you later.”
With that said, he drives off. Lydia turns to Nadia who finally raises her gaze from her feet.
“What’s wrong?” Lydia asks and fixes her backpack. “You’ve been acting off all morning.”
“I have to talk to you about something”, Nadia says hesitantly and looks at her with uneasy eyes.
Lydia blinked and frowned. “What?”
“I was meaning to talk to you earlier, but I didn’t want to do it when dad was around.” Nadia glanced at the other students swarming around the school grounds. “It’s about mom … and her sickness.”
For as long as they can remember, their mother has been bound to her bed by a rare disease. Thankfully, their father is a remarkable doctor and has been caring for her ever since the twins' birth. He works at a hospital in the city and travels forty minutes back and forth every day, dropping the twins off at school on the way there, and picking them up on the wayback. When they were young, they were put in a private school carefully chosen by their father — who has been very active in the administration.
Their father is a complex person. Although they’ve been by him their entire life, they still feel like they don’t know him. He rarely talks about himself, and seem to have a human side for their mother only. Very rarely, there’s a soft side for the girls … often they’re met by a doctor, rather than a parent. Despite that, Lydia has always been a daddy’s girl, while Nadia has clung to their mom for love and comfort.
“What about it?” Lydia asks carefully.
“I heard something …”, Nadia starts and licks her lips nervously. “I heard these noises, from mom and dad’s room-”
“Don’t tell me you heard them have sex”, Lydia grimaces.
“No …” Nadia shakes her head, eyes shaking. “They were talking. Mom was crying and daad was standing by the bed, holding her cheeks in his hands like this …” She cups her sisters cheeks in demonstration, “...while saying: ‘you’re never going back there, I’ll never share you like that again’.” She shivers. “I-I don’t know what that was, but it made me feel really weird.”
Lydia frowns, trying to picture the scene in front of her.
“Are you sure that it wasn’t just dad’s weird love language?” she asks carefully.
“I don’t know”, Nadia sighs defeatedly. “Mom seemed … scared. She looked up at him with eyes full of terror. She could have had a nightmare or something, but dad’s voice- … it was awful. I don’t know how to describe it, but it sounded extremely dark.”
“We could try to ask her.”
“What if dad hears?”
“I could distract him while you ask, if that helps you ease your worry.”
Nadia smiles gratefully. “Thank you, Lyd.”
Lydia gives her an unsure smile and grabs her hand and they walk into school.
Tumblr media
Like Dr Kry had asked them to, they stand by the gates at three sharp. His white car rolls over and the two of them jumps in, Lydia in the front seat and Nadia in the backseat.
“How has your day been?” he asks and drives off.
He always asks about their classes, teachers and friends. If there’s a small detail he doesn’t like, he makes sure to contact the school and let them know his thoughts. More than one friendship has ended thanks to his overprotectiveness and the twins has learned to dilute the truth enough for him to be able to swallow it. So once again, they answer in the way he wants to hear it.
The car drives from the city, gets off the highway and enters a countryside road. The dirt road is divided in the middle with grass, creating enough space for the wheels of his white car to roll forward. Here, nothing can be heard except the sounds of distant birds. Their white, edwardian villa is surrounded by a deep, dark forest, close to a gigantic sparkly lake with the closest neighbor being a kilometer away. Despite the isolating upbringing the twins have had, getting away from the noisy, stressful city to the empty forest always cleanse their brains.
The white, Scandinavian, edwardian aged, wooden villa appears behind the trees like a castle. The house has two floors with a green atticroof, and a bushy, blooming garden in the same color, two glass verandahs on either side of the house and a white fence around the garden.
The twins get out of the car. Nadia gives her a look and Lydia nods.
“Dad”, she says. “I’ve been feeling a bit weird these last days … I think I’m going to be sick.”
“Really?” Dr Kry asks and frowns. He closes the trunk of the car. “Who have you been around? Are any of the other students sick?”
“A few.”
“Nadia, are you feeling bad too?”
“No”, Nadia replies.
“Could you please give me a check up?” Lydia asks.
“Alright, come with me”, Dr Kry says and nods at her to follow him.
While they walk inside, their father and Lydia walks to the living room and Nadia sneaks off upstairs. She moves carefully to their parents’ room and knock gently on the door before entering. Their mother, you, is lying in bed with a book in her hand. You look as weak as ever. Nadia shivers.
“Hi, sweetheart”, you smile and puts down your book on your chest. “Did you have a good day in school?”
“Yes …”, Nadia mumbles and sits down on the side of the bed, unsure on how to start this absurd conversation.
“What’s wrong, Nadia?”
“What happened yesterday? WIth you and dad?”
You flinch. Your smile disappears for a moment for it to appear quickly again, but this time in a fake manner.
“Why did he say that?” Nadia asks carefully. “Why did he say that he wasn’t going to share you again?”
“O-Oh, that …”, you mumble with an embarrassed smile. “It was nothing, don’t worry about it. It was just some adult stuff that me and your dad were talking about.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, honey. Why? Did it make you worry?”
Nadia nods slightly. Y/N gives her a smile and takes her hand.
“It’s okay, sweetheart, there’s nothing to be afraid of”, you reassure Nadia. “Whatever happens between me and your dad is nothing you have to be afraid of. We will always put you and your sister first, okay? There’s nothing you have to be worried about. I love you, darling.”
“I love you too, mom …”
You hug her, and Nadia hugs back, but she can’t help but feel that her heart sinks. Something isn’t right.
Tumblr media
The very next day when they’re left off at school, Nadia grabs Lydia’s arm.
“Let’s go to the hospital”, she says the second their father’s car disappears behind the corner. She holds up a metallic key. “I have the key to mom’s old room.”
“What?” Lydia asks in confusion. “Why?”
“I have a feeling that mom isn’t really sick and I have to take a look around in her old hospital room. Something isn’t right!” She clears her throat and lowers her voice. “Mom and dad met at the hospital and that he was her doctor, that much we know, right?”
Lydia nods, trying to follow along.
“Isn’t it weird that a doctor as professional as our dad decided to start a relationship with a patient like that?” Nadia asks, sounding unsure. “And wouldn’t he have done everything he could to make mom feel better? Shouldn’t she be better now? I just … I want to know if he has done something.”
“Do you really think he has?”
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. But something isn’t right, and I feel that. Mom seemed to be put on the spot when I asked her about the interaction I had overheard. She seemed scared.” Nadia grabbed her hand in hers. “Please, Lyd, can we go there and just take a look?”
Lydia hesitates and glances at the private school behind them, contemplating the consequences.
“Please”, Nadia repeats. “If mom is getting hurt, I want to help her.”
“Okay”, Lydia nods.
With that said, they hurry past the school gates before a teacher has the time to catch them. They take the first bus to the state hospital their father works at and hope that he’s with a patient while they sneak around.
They hurry inside the hospital and keep their heads down to make sure that none of the working receptionists would recognise them and report to their father right away. They stay silent until they get into the elevator.
Once out, they sneak over to the door. Lydia stands guard as Nadia presses the key into its lock. The click from the key opening echoes in the empty corridor. Nadia’s hand hovers above the door handle. Her heart twirls around uncomfortably. In a moment, she will be in the room where their parents met, where something happened that made their dad take the decision of stepping over the professional line. If that was good or bad is yet to be known, but she can’t help but feel worried.
The room is empty, in more than one way. The spirits of old memories haunt the room and they leave a sour taste in the twins’ mouths. Lydia looks towards the bed. Their mother has been lying here for months with a sickness that has kept her bed bound for years. But what happened while she was here?
“What are we looking for?” Lydia wonders.
“Anything”, Nadia shrugs and looks around. “Whatever that can help us is fine. Journals, reports, notes — anything.”
They start to rummage through drawers, in binders and notepads. Lydia finds herself holding a yellow paper binder with their mother’s name written on it, in their father’s handwriting.
“Nad, look at this”, Lydia says and holds up the binder.
They put the binder on the desk and start to pull out papers. Every paper is written from the top to the bottom in ink.
“He has documented her every day …”, Lydia says, perplexed. She shakes her head in denial. “Every single day, every single hour. Obsessively. Look, every little detail is written down. ‘12:35, eaten an apple’, ‘16:52, took a shower’, ‘22:30, called for me on the telephone’. What is this?”
Nadia picks up another paper, a smaller, clearly supposed to be hidden between the other sides. She puts her hand over her mouth as her eyes widens.
“Oh no”, she gasps and drops the paper. “No, no, no, no …”
Lydia frowns, bends down and picks up the paper. Her heart sinks as she reads the note. It’s a single word, but they’re familiar with it. They’ve found bottles of it in the cellar and the attic multiple times, and when they asked Dr Kry about it, he answered that it was a substance to kill vermin.
“He’s poisoning mom”, Nadia whispers in horror and looks at her twin with wide, terrified eyes.
Lydia feels the air disappear from her lungs. Suddenly, she feels nauseous. She sits down on the rolling stool and tries to control her breathing. Nadia sinks down on the bed with her head in her hands.
“What the fuck do we do?” Lydia breathes out with her eyes staring dimly in front of her. She has never felt this empty before, this helpless. “What the fuck do we do now, Nadia?”
“W-We have to call the cops”, Nadia gulps.
“The cops? Nad, he’s our dad!”
“But if he hurts mom …” Her voice dies out. “We can’t let him take more years from her.”
Lydia nods and wipes the few tears that have begun to run down her cheeks. With shaking hands, she unzips her backpack and shoves the binder down. They will need evidence if they have to prove to the cops.
The door behind them opens. Both girls fly up from their positions and scurry over to each other. Dr Kry walks in and stops abruptly in the door.
“What are you doing here?” he asks quickly.
He’s trying to force a smile, but the red eyes of his daughters and the trembling bodies of theirs are all he needs to see, to know that they know.
“How fucking could you?!” Nadia screams.
Dr Kry hurries to close the door as she continues to shout through sobs.
“What’s your deal with mom?!” she screams. “How can you keep her like this?! Where’s your fucking conscience?!”
She thinks that she’s going to explode in pure fear, anger and sorrow. Dr Kry clenches his jaw and sighs heavily.
“Your mother is a very, very special person”, he says slowly, as if he is talking to a ticking bomb. “It is all a misunderstanding, girls, I will tell you everything at home. Come, we’re going home now.”
“We’re not going anywhere with you”, Nadia spits and stands in front of her frozen sister.
“You don’t have to be afraid of me.” Dr Kry rolls his eyes when they don’t answer. “You’re my daughters, and you are not yet of age, you have to come with me.”
Nadia wants to refuse again, but she doesn’t want to leave her mother alone with him, not when he knows that they know.
“Now”, Dr Kry decides.
Nadia picks up Lydia’s bag and gives it to her sister. It looks like Lydia is going to throw up any second now. Nadia takes her hand and they follow their father out of the room, and out through a back door. For the first time, Lydia sits down in the backseat together with her twin. They hold each others hands tightly and keep silent the entire car ride home.
“Girls, I never wanted you to see that”, Dr Kry sighs and tries to meet their eyes in the rear view mirror. “I- … It’s hard to explain. Your mother is a very special person who I’m very lucky to have met.”
Lydia squeezes her eyes shut, but she can’t keep him out of her head.
When they come home, Nadia drags her sister into the house.
“Girls, don’t go upstairs”, Dr Kry says in that same dark voice Nadia had heard him talk in a few days ago. “I want you to stay down here.”
They halt, suddenly too scared to move.
“I want you to help me with dinner”, Dr Kry says. “Come on.”
The twins glance at each other. Lydia starts to drag her sister to the kitchen. They help in complete silence. Lydia’s hands are trembling while she cuts cucumber and it slips, cutting a slit in her finger. She yelps and drops the knife.
“Oh, honey”, Dr Kry breathes out and grabs her hand. “You have to be careful.”
She doesn’t look at him as he washes her hand under the kitchen sink and puts on a bandaid. Her entire body is in fight or flight mode.
When Dr Kry takes care of the final touches, the twins scurry up to their mother. Your face drops when you see them.
“Why is he doing this to you?” Nadia asks thickly as she tries not to cry. “We found out.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry, girls”, you say sorrowfully. “I wish that you never had to know.”
“Why do you let it happen?” Lydia asks quietly.
“I have no choice … I can’t do anything.” You lower your gaze and voice to an ashamed whisper. “I don’t have the energy to run away, and if I managed to, you’d be in danger and I’d be dead. Your father has the only antidote to his self made poison. It’s safer for everyone if I stay here.”
“But mom …”, Nadia whimpers, “... he’s hurting you.”
“I … I know, dear.”
The door opens behind them.
“Girls, dinner”, Dr Kry says shortly and nods towards the corridor. “Go downstairs.”
The twins turn to you, wanting you to make their decision. You give them a reassuring smile and they leave. You look at the man who has become your husband, much to your dismay.
“Why did you let them find out?” you whisper with tears in your eyes. “You promised that they would never know!”
“I didn't think that they would.” He wipes the tears that roll down your cheeks. “I’ll fix this mess. Don’t worry, darling.”
With that said, he tucks you in and leaves to go downstairs. The twins have sat down by the dining table with their blank, staring eyes turned down into the table. Dr Kry sits down and start to eat, without seeming to care at all about the incidents that happened earlier. Nadia stares down into her plate with disgust roaring in her stomach. If she eats, she’s going to throw it all up in a matter of thirty minutes. She closes her eyes and sighs sadly. Lydia tries to eat a bite, forcing it down her throat.
“Nadia, eat a little”, Dr Kry says.
“I’m not hungry”, she mumbles.
“You need to eat a bit. I won’t allow you to leave the table before you have eaten. Look at Lydia, she’s eating.”
Lydia feels her cheeks heat up as the attention turns to her. She’s suddenly embarrassed over obeying. Feeling exposed and naked under Nadia’s look of disbelief, as if she’s just broken a silent pact. But instead of saying anything, Nadia picks up her fork and takes a bite of the white rice. The twins can agree that this might have been the worst dinner they have ever experienced.
Nadia puts her hand over her heart and clears her throat. There's a heavy feeling over her chest, something almost suffocating. She looks to the side, seeing how Lydia is frowning as well, trying to clear her throat. Nadia think that she looks like she’s going to faint. She wants to ask her how she’s feeling, but doesn’t dare talk in front of their father, afraid to start a conversation.
After dinner, the twins decide to go upstairs, but their legs suddenly feel weak enough to break apart.
“What’s going on?” Lydia whispers and grips the staircase railing.
“I think that he put something in the food”, Nadia whispers back.
“I feel really sick …”
She falls down on her knees in the middle of the staircase, still holding onto the railing. Nadia hurries to pull her up again and drags her over to her bedroom, lazily tucking her in.
“Don’t leave me”, Lydia whimpers and grabs her hand before she can leave the room. “Stay … please. Don’t go. I'm scared.”
Nadia agrees, not wanting to leave. She climbs down under the covers of Lydia’s bed. They lay in silence and look up at the tilted, wooden ceiling. For every minute passes by, they’re growing more and more sick. Every muscle in their bodies seem to ache, twist and turn.
“He’s doing it to us too”, Nadia whispers.
They hear the lock on the door click and give each other terrified looks. Nadia stumbles out of the bed and feel the handle. She gulps in horror and turns back to the bed.
“It’s locked!” she says and breathes out in shock. “He actually locked it …”
“Come back …”, Lydia begs and reaches for her.
Nadia returns to the bed, crawls down under the covers and hugs her. She wraps her arms around her sister and rests Lydia’s head on her shoulder.
“I’m scared”, Lydia whispers.
“It’s going to be okay”, Nadia replies, although she doesn’t believe it herself. “We’re going to be okay.”
Tumblr media
Dr Kry removes his tie, about to go to sleep.
“I can’t believe you …”, you whisper from the bed, with her eyes down at her trembling hands.
“Darling …”, Dr Kry sighs and turns around.
You raise your tone, but keep it hushed enough not to exceed the bedroom walls. “You promised that they would never get hurt! You promised that they would never get exposed to this fucking substance!”
“They haven’t … yet.”
“Yet?! Don’t fucking tell me-”
“They figured it out, okay? They heard our conversation and decided to check out the hospital for themselves. I underestimated their intelligence … and their love for you.” He sighs annoyedly. “I’m not going to let their lack of understanding break apart our family — that I have fought so hard for. I put something in their food to keep them still for a while. It’s nothing dangerous, little one. I promise you that.”
“If I knew that you were going to break your promise-”
“I had to.”
He is about to caress your cheek, but hears sounds coming from next door. One of the girls is banging on the locked bedroom door, and calling for him. Dr Kry excuses himself and gets out of the room. He walks over to Lydia’s room, where the noise is coming from. Quickly, he unlocks, finding Nadia leaning on the wall right next to the door. Her eyes are full with tears.
“What’s going on?” Dr Kry asks.
“Lydia isn’t waking up!” Nadia cries.
Dr Kry feels his body turn cold. He runs over to the bed where his other daughter is lying on her side, and he soon finds out that Nadia is right — she isn’t waking up. He shakes her, gives her gentle taps on her cheeks and lifts her up. Nothing wakes her. He has to take her to the hospital.
“Wait, where are you going?!” Nadia screams after him as Dr Kry carries her sister down the stairs. “She doesn’t want to be alone!”
“You have to stay here with mom”, Dr Kry says over his shoulder. “I’m taking care of Lydia.”
He hurries out of the house and quickly places her down in the back seat. Dr Kry’s usual forty minute drive to the hospital took only twenty five minutes this time. He picked her up in her arms and ran inside through the backdoor, and didn’t stop until their reach the room you have spent many, many months in. Dr Kry places his daughter down on the very same bed you have laid in. He placed an oxygen over Lydia’s mouth and nose, turning on the machine. He hasn’t felt this scared in a long time.
Tumblr media
Finally, after an hour, Lydia opens her eyes with a small moan. Dr Kry hurries over to the bed and removes the mask.
“How are you feeling?” he asks her and brushes the hair out of her face.
“I feel really sick”, she whimpers.
“Do you need to throw up?”
Lydia nods. Dr Kry picks her up again and moves her into the bathroom where she hovers over the toilet for ten minutes. Dr Kry holds her hair back and grimaces sadly. He does feel bad for putting her through this, but he has to.
“There you go”, he says and puts her down on the bed again.
“Why am I here?” Lydia asks weakly.
“You weren’t responding when anyone tried to wake you up. I got worried, so I decided to take you here.”
“Am I going to die?”
Dr Kry scoffs out a smile in a weird sensation of deja-vu. He has heard that question a lot, in the exact same tone and manner, but from the generation before her.
“You’re not”, he reassures her and strokes her hair. “You know that I would never let anything happen to you.”
“Why am I feeling like this?”
“I put something in your food to make you and Nadia calm down, but you seem to have reacted badly to the substance … weirdly enough. Since you’re identical twins, i thought you’d react the same, but it seems like you are a bit more sensitive than your sister.”
“Nadia ate less than me.”
“Yeah, you might have gotten more substance in your body, which is why you feel worse. It’s going to be okay, I will not let anything happen to you.”
“But you hurt me.”
His smile drops and his hand stops stroking her hair. He knows that Lydia shares half of her mothers genetics, but he didn’t know that she would sound exactly like you. She has never heard you use these phrases, and yet Lydia has chosen the exact same wording that you have tortured Dr Kry with years ago.
“I didn’t mean for you to end up here”, Dr Kry sighs and continues to stroke her hair. “That was my fault, I admit that. However, I had to keep you and Nadia a bit sedated because of how scared you were.”
“Why did you use so much?” she whimpers.
“I was a bit shaky myself, I wasn’t meant to hurt you, Lydia.”
Lydia sighs shakily and sinks down in the mattress. She wants nothing more than to go back home, to Nadia, but at the same time she knows that if she goes back home, she will be locked in her room again. Continuing with life now that they know their father’s secret will be difficult.
“How long do I have to stay here?” she asks quietly.
“Until you’re feeling better”, Dr Kry replies and stands up. “For now, I think that you need to sleep. It’s late.”
That’s the last thing she wants to do. She has always been Dr Kry’s (not so subtle) favorite, and she has always had a preference for her father … but for the very first time, she’s afraid of him. She can’t trust him anymore, especially about her health. Being unconscious is the last thing she wants to do.
“I don’t want to”, Lydia says pleadingly. “I’m not tired … please don’t make me sleep, dad.”
Please don’t make me sleep. Your voice echoes in his head, in the exact same tone. Dr Kry knows that he did a million things wrong when he kept you here, and now he has a second chance to fix things.
“Okay”, he breathes out and sits down on his stool. “You don’t have to sleep, darling.”
Lydia gulps and looks around in the room, trying to imagine how you had felt while being here. She feels a heavy sensation over her chest, like a heavy stone. She couldn’t see the poisoned air purifier that was mentioned in the journal.
“Did mom lay here?” Lydia whispers.
“Yes”, he answers quietly.
“How long?”
Dr Kry looks down at his nails, eyes faltering. “A, uh … very long time. Many, many months.”
She starts to look around again. “Where is the air purifier?”
“It’s not here … it broke, a long time ago. I had to throw it away.”
“Do you still use that kind of thing on mom?”
“No, I don’t. Not often.”
But he has his new way to make sure you stay.
Tumblr media
Nadia runs her hand through her hair. Her poor sister. What should she do? Dr Kry left the rooms unlocked, which means that she can move around. She drags herself into your bedroom. You look at her with wide, nervous eyes.
“Is she okay?” you ask and take Nadia in your arms.
“I-I don’t know”, Nadia responds shakily while shaking her head desperately. “She wasn’t waking up and …”
“She’s going to be okay. I know your father can all of those medical stuff … maybe a little too well.” You sigh and caress the seventeen-year old girl’s face. “It’s going to be okay.”
Nadia shakes her head. “No fucking way things are going to be okay! He’s a madman, mom.”
“I … I know.”
“We can’t stay here.”
“Where are we supposed to go, Nad? We have no car, nearest neighbor is a kilometer away and we have poison in our blood. Sweetheart, we can’t walk far.”
“Mom, we have to leave. We can’t stay here with this psychopath!”
“Nadia …”
Nadia sighs frustratedly and hides her face in her hands. Something has to work. The farthest she has seen you walk is out to the garden when they’ve had picnic evenings. You take her hand, removing it.
“Sweetheart … you know dad loves you, right?” you ask carefully. You don’t want her to hate her him, after all he is her father … but you have to let her know the truth, no more living in the shadow.
“Fucking doubt it”, Nadia mutters.
“He does. In his … own little way. But I need you to understand that he has sides that he hasn’t shown you … a-and I don’t want you to see those sides.”
Nadia’s face goes blank. You’re trying your best not to get swindled back into old memories, but thinking about that murderous side of Dr Kry brings you back to a time you much rather would want to forget.
“Mom?” Nadia asks blankly and almost shouts in panic. “Mom! What sides?”
“He … He is a very patient man, but he can't take as much as possible, so please, whatever you do … cooperate.”
“What does that mean? Mom?”
Nadia goes cold. That’s it, she thinks, they have to leave.
“Mom, get up”, she says and grabs the blanket before ripping it off. “Now. Before he returns.”
“Nad-”
“We have to try, at least. Please.”
You hesitate before getting out of bed. Nadia grabs your hand and try to pull you out of the bedroom, but everything around you seem to spin. Your entire body is heavy and aching in all the wrong places.
“Nadia, wait”, you groan. “If I’m going to move, I have to move slowly.”
“Alright”, Nadia agrees. “I’ll go get some stuff and then meet you by the stairs.”
Nadia runs to her room to collect her wallet and hoodies for herself and her sister, then runs to get your jacket. She meets you by the stairs, helps you put your jacker on and then start to lead you down. You’re terrified of falling.
“Nadia, I don’t think that this is a good idea”, you mumble and think back of your numerous escape attempts, all ending with someone losing their life.
“We have to, mom”, Nadia pleads. “I can’t leave you here.”
“What about Lydia?”
“I’ll figure something out afterwards.”
Nadia unlocks the front door and leads you out on the glass verandah. You’re filled with fear. What if you can’t walk? What if you hurt yourself? What if Dr Kry finds out? Your body won’t be able to take his anger. Besides, you have barely left the house in eighteen years — apart from a few car rides here and there — what if the world has changed to something you don’t like?
“Mom”, Nadia says slowly. “It’s going to be okay.”
“I’m terrified”, you admit.
“We will be okay.”
They start to walk along the dark countryside road. There are no streetlight this far out in the forest, but the moon lights up enough for them to see where the road is heading.
“It’s been years since I was outside last”, you say. “I think the last time I was out walking was in the garden, last summer when we had that picnic.”
“Have you ever tried to run away from dad before?” Nadia asks.
“I have”, you answer quietly. “A few times.”
“Did you ever succeed?”
“That depends on what you mean by ‘succeeding’, because I’m still here, aren’t I? But I got away a few times … the only problem was that he found me again.” You sigh, realizing that perhaps you shouldn’t have this conversation with your underage daughter. “Forget that. Where are we going?”
“We need to go to our neighbors. They have to help us.”
Nadia has only spoken to the neighbors a few times, because of how rarely they run into each other.
They only manage to walk a hundred meters before bright, beaming headlights light up in front of them. Nadia wants to flee into the forest — in case it happens to be her father behind the wheel — but can’t seem to pull you with her. The car stops and to Nadia’s horror, her father gets out.
“What the Hell are you doing?!” he shouts, sounding both angry and terrified. “Y/N!”
You freeze in your spot and seem to crawl together like a hurt dog, sounding like one too. Dr Kry runs over to you. Nadia watches in horror and starts to panic, wondering what she should do. Stay here with you and get caught in Dr Kry’s claws … or make a run for it to try to get help.
“I’m sorry”, you shriek in fear. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry-”
Dr Kry hugs your shaking body in his arms and strokes your back, hushing softly.
“I know you didn’t come up with this stupid idea”, he reassures you. “Don’t cry, my dear, I'm here now. I know this wasn't your fault. I'm not mad at you. I’ll get you back home and I'll take care of you. It’s going to be okay.”
He helps you into the front seat. You don’t fight back in the slightest. Nadia looks back at the dark forest and gulps. Her eyes glues onto something in the backseat and realizes that he has come back with her sister!
“Nadia, get in, we've had enough of these childish outbursts”, her father tells her. “Get in. Now.”
“Is she okay?” Nadia almost stutters and points at her sleeping sister.
“She’s okay. If you don’t get in now, Nadia, I’m taking them both with me and you’ll never see them again.”
His favoritism has never been clearer, Nadia thinks. She can’t leave her sister … so she gets into the backseat. Nadia wakes her sister up and caresses her cheek.
“Are you okay?” she whispers quickly. “Did he hurt you?”
“I feel okay”, Lydia whispers back. “Just … tired. I had tro throw up a lot and I think that he gave me some sleeping pills or something. I insisted on going home … so he let me.”
Nadia breathes out. She glances over at the front seat. Their father holds the steering wheel with one hand and yours with the other.
“Please don’t cry”, he wishes.
Nadia watches on in disgust.
When they get back to the white villah, Nadia pulls her sister up to her own room and lays her down on the bed while Dr Kry takes you into the master bedroom.
“Here you go”, Nadia says and tucks her in. “Are you okay? Do you need anything?”
“Some water”, Lydia says quietly.
Nadia disappears downstairs to get a glass of water. She meets her father in the stairs.
“Nadia, I’m not sure your sister will be able to leave her bed for a while”, he says warningly. “I wouldn’t try to leave, if i were you. If you do, I will take both of them with me, and you’ll never see them again.”
“Do you like to hurt your family?” she spits back. “What kind of sadist are you?”
“One to make sure my family stays with me. If you don’t want to end up in the same physical state as your sister and mother, you’re going to continue living as if everything is normal, got that? Go to school, come home, study, continue everything. No talking to anyone about this. Is that clear?”
“So everything as normal … but without Lydia?”
“Exactly.”
“Why aren’t you healing her?”
“Because I’m not going to let you, or anyone, take my family from me. Be glad that I’m still letting you live normally.”
Nadia glares at him and continues up the stairs. She holds the glass to Lydia’s mouth, watching her sip.
“What now?” she whispers.
“I’m allowed to continue living like normally … and you don’t”, Nadia says quietly. “I’m sorry.”
“But … but I don’t want to live like mom!”
“I know. I’m sorry, Lyd.”
The girl in the bed sighs sadly. Naida takes her hand and gulps.
Tumblr media
The coming weeks seem normal. Nadia goes to school, studies, returns to the villah, but nothing is the same. Without Lydia, there’s no use in being on top. She has no one to impress anymore. Her father is dead to her, and sucking up to him makes her sick. She barely talks to her friends anymore. They’re always asking her about Lydia, and why she’s not in school anymore. Nadia can’t come up with countless excuses … it’s easier to distance herself.
Life doesn’t seem that bright and colorful anymore. Nadia can’t bring herself to be excited about things that used to interest her badly. Now, every day is a chore, something she wants to get done, until something happens … but she doesn’t know what it is. A death in the family? Someone saving them? Someone killing someone?
Nadia walks out of school, seeing her fathers white car parked outside the gates, and him inside … waiting for her.

The thing that confuses me about the "don't vote" left (not the "I don't want to vote", I'm talking explicitly the "don't vote" left. I don't agree with the "I don't want to vote" left either but I can understand their logic) is they lose me at the final step of the logic. I've tried to connect the logic here, even if I don't agree with a political position I do try to understand where people are coming from (empathy for someones situation is not the same as cosigning it), but I just can't connect the dots here in a way that isn't deeply cruel. Does United States politics prioritize the lives of those in the US (and often white) over those in the Global South? Yes, it's a fucking atrocity. We should continue to make noise about it, cus Biden has used less drones and that shows progress, even if it's not enough. The part where I lose the plot is where the conclusion to this injustice is to let even more people die? Cus that's kinda how I see the idea of not voting: I can pick between shit and more shit, and at the end of the day, I'm picking whoever allows the most people to make it to the next day. Given Trumps stance on everything but specifically climate change, I feel like Biden is pretty significant harm reduction.
I don't think both things can't be true: that every life lost is a travesty we should not forget AND the more people we can save is worth fighting for.
The thing is, I have seen nothing among the "don't vote" far left (and I am talking here specifically about the people who both loudly announce their intention not to vote and try to convince others to do the same) to convince me that they actually care about harm reduction or stopping genocide. They only care about what makes them look the most Correct and/or superior to the Democrats. They yelled bloody murder about Obama using drones, they went dead quiet about Trump using them even more (even when he nearly started WWIII by assassinating the Iranian general Soleimani with one), and then said nothing at all when Biden reduced the drone program to almost nothing and withdrew the US from a failed war in Afghanistan it had long ago lost. Now they will yell all day about Israel/Hamas (something that Biden did not start and has had no direct military role in responding to) but they don't care about Russian genocide of Ukraine and Syria, Chinese threats to invade Taiwan, etc, because those governments are "anti-western/anti-American" and therefore should be defended. Their opposition to human suffering is extremely conditional and rests on whether they can look good out of it, and they never interrogate the hypocrisies of their own ideology.
Likewise: every country in the world prizes its own citizens above those of other countries. It's just a basic fact. Yes, the US has a grim history of intervening in other countries and causing untold civilian damage (especially during the Cold War and then in post-9/11 War on Terrorism). Yes, that legacy is complex and needs to be acknowledged. But literally none of that will be fixed, not to mention all the vulnerable people in America itself who will be punished, by Trump getting into power again. Biden is not just a grudging "lesser evil," but has done a lot of truly good and helpful things, regardless of the Online Leftists' constant lies, misinformation, and misrepresentation. If you spend all your time announcing what a champion you are for non-American marginalised people and/or those undergoing terrible suffering, and then deliberately and knowingly adhere to a course of action that will increase that suffering tenfold not only for those people but your own neighbors, friends, and family, then no, I don't believe you are a brave champion of social justice. You just want to know what categories of people you can gleefully and righteously punish and make to suffer for not believing the same things as you, that makes you just as dangerous as the right-wing fascists, and I can and will call out your ass accordingly.

The order fits into self aware au. How would Malleus, Jade and Leona react to an extremely caring reader?
Self-aware au
I do not take any responsibility for you reading this no matter which age group you are from!
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, obsession, possessiveness, manipulation, violence, murder, injuries, family problems, unhealthy relationship
Leona Kingscholar/Jade Leech/Malleus Draconia-Player is extremely caring
Tumblr media
Let's be honest, Leona is a sucker for attention even if he doesn't show it
I mean, house cat over there was deprived of affection throughout his entire childhood so what did you expect? A healthy headspace? Haha no
So when he was sitting there, daring at the student who just stepped on his tail when he felt it for the first time
And at first it was not a great sensation
He always felt someone looking at him, watching him, him never being able to escape...
But after he also watched the black haired annoyance he soon understood what was going on... or at least he thought he did
Malleus and his little fanclu-I mean his “friends” were known for having a rather “interesting” interest in the Overseer and since that started they were saying that they were watching them
Ok so he has his own little pair of eyes staring at him no. Great great. No way he likes tho-WHY IS HE PURRING??!
Now that things have been going like that for a longer while he does notice though that you treat him different than others
Whilst you would be like “may, I can wait with your spell material” you are with him “OUT OF THE WAY! I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF MY CAT!!!”
Whilst everyone is just trying to get a tiny bit of that attention and care he is just like “I have no idea what I did but I like it”
But I think I mentioned him being starved as a kid of attention and care from his family and his general surroundings, right?
Well it's going to show right here, right now
Whilst he basis in what you give him like sunbathing he is more or less just terrorizing others
If someone dares to try to get close to him so that they might get some of his cake he will create a new sand pit
Even though his family doesn't know Leona is aware that they would be at least thankful that his magic doesn't leave any trace to follow at the scene of the crime
Just keep that attention up! Otherwise he might just snap and make short process with everyone
Tumblr media
Confusion. Just confusion (at first at least)
Here he is, hat stand extravagance, witnessing how an all-knowing entity starting down on them is especially caring towards him
I mean, it all started on the day that exchange student ran after their friends after they got entangled in a contract with Azul
At first he thought you hated him
You were known as someone who was for fair contracts
And danger noodle over here knows that Azul plays dirty
Like “dumping mineral oil into the sea” kind of dirty
Why else were you always sending him out there to “squeeze the fishies” (-Floyd Leech, the not-so-extravagant hat stand)?
Why else were you always staring at him when he was talking to Yuu?
You gushing about him and how much you liked and wanted to take care of him didn't even cross his mind
Well, until the team was defeated for the first time
Oh boy, you were angry
But you were even more concerned about him
S-so you were just caring for him? Ha...Haha... HAHAHA- (Don't forget to breathe, Jade)
Is he overjoyed about that? Yes
Does he play dirty to keep that care to himself? Absolutely
The next time you see an NPC they might be a bit silent and avoid you
Jade is good at collecting dirt on people, you know?
Tumblr media
Aww how cute! We like the lighter!
Jokes aside, Malleus knew immediately that you were there even though he wasn't present in the prologue ceremony
So when Lilia came home that night he just bursted through the front door, doorknob in hand, yelling words about the Overseer
The general had to calm down so that the "young" fae could finally understand what the was saying
Ah, so you were here... WAIT WHAT??!
But then... *sad dragon fae noises*
Why? Well he thought he was either so boring that you left him alone or that you avoided him because you disliked him
I mean, imagine, the one being you always looked up to, thinking they understood you to some degree, is now staying far away from you
But then why were you always heading into battle with him? And why were you so angry the first time he had an elemental disadvantage?
When you finally had enough material you shoved that straight down his throat, saying something about “can't let him get hurt” and “not this pretty nifty little thing!”
So... you liked him? Why were you avoiding him then? ... You know what? He won't ask
That doesn't mean it's good for his ego though
Whenever he sees the house cat in the garden he just has that expression that literally screams smugness
But if someone dares to say that you don't care for him?
Roasted chicken my friend. Roasted chicken
His letters to his granny are now always filled with “how kind and caring the Overseer is” and “if there is a spell to get you here”
... You know what is waiting for you, right?

Tumblr media
Fuck.
Your head hurt so bad. Your vision was so blurry, and you couldn't comprehend what the hell even happened. You kept fading in and out, whole body just absolutely aching.
You felt like it was forever until you came to. You blinked rapidly, several times, just to even regain consciousness of reality. Once your vision focused, you noticed you were on a ship. What the fuck?
You look around slowly, drinking in the sight of your surroundings. You noticed you were perched up against a metal wall, legs extended out in front of you. It was only until now that you noticed your hands were cuffed behind your back, the cold, rough metal biting harshly at your wrists every time you tugged slightly. You furrowed your brow, which was coated in pure cold sweat. The fluorescent lights in the ship were still too blinding for your vision, and you groaned in agony.
You stilled for a second, closing your eyes again to see if you could at least hear something familiar, because even the stars in space knew you couldn't muster up the energy to stand up, even if you wanted to. You didn't hear much except for the still air of hyperspace, it seemed like, and... is that... a baby cooing?
Your eyes instantly snapped open, being startled by a tall, extremely intimidating Mandalorian. You looked up at him from your place on the ground, his almost blindingly shiny beskar armor glinting the reflection of the lights on the ship. His helmet was tilted down toward you, making it devastatingly obvious that he was staring... maybe even... observing you.
You gulped in terror as your fight or flight kicked in, but then it suddenly dawned on you: one, he's a fucking Mandalorian. He has all kinds of weapons and trinkets that could kill you in a second, and two: even if you did put up a decent fight, where the fuck would you go? You're literally in hyperspace.
It's only then that you notice a little creature, who couldn't be more than a foot tall, making his way to the Mandalorian. He was so tiny, with big dark green, almost black-ish eyes. You blinked a couple of times in disbelief, making sure you were seeing things correctly. The little creature cooed his baby noises once more, trying to get the man's attention. He didn't budge.
"Uhm," You try your damndest to break the awkward silence and thick, unwavering tension, "What am I doing here?" You choke out, your mouth feeling so dry, throat extremely coarse.
You had an idea of why you were a bounty, but in your defense, the man you murdered had it coming. He killed your father, the last family you had on Tatooine, and you simply wanted to avenge his death. You didn't think the New Republic would frown so deeply upon getting revenge. But, alas, you were another identity on a puck, being ruthlessly hunted by a Mandalorian.
"Just kill me now," you wavered, feeling exhausted and quite literally having no will to stay alive, "I'm sure you'll get a good amount of credits for turning me in." You felt tears prick the back of your eyes, because your father was the only reason you kept going. Now that he was gone, what was the purpose?
Your response astonishes Din, even though he stays incredibly still. He's never had a bounty, especially as young and healthy as you were, plead for him to take their life. Usually it was a bounty that was older, or a renowned criminal within the galaxy, that truly didn't give two fucks if they died or not. Especially commenting about how many credits he'd get after turning you in. Something was off about you, but not in a bad way— Din just couldn't figure it out. He didn't trust anyone, at all, except for his green little son that was still trying to get his dad's attention at his feet.
But, for some reason, Din's gut told him to not freeze your body in carbonite. And so, he didn't... and he let you stick around.
-
That was six months ago. Six months you've been by Mando and the kid's side, flying all throughout the galaxy with them. Six months of incredibly dangerous yet exhilarating missions, beautiful planets, and little by little, getting to know the man armored in beskar himself. He never says much, and quite frankly, neither do you. The silence is something you both enjoy, but there's times where you'd both get curious about each other and your lives.
You told him the reason you ended up on that puck he was given to by Greef Karga, which made him ten times more glad he didn't do anything stupid on impulse that resulted in you no longer being in this galaxy. Mando knew you could fight, quite well, to his astonishment. He also knew you could shoot a blaster, and basically carry your own. Only thing you were missing was practically just the armor.
You never ceased to amaze him with your abilities— one minute you're his little sidekick joining him on a couple of missions to catch other bounties, and the next, you're making a deliciously hot meal for him and the kid. He didn't need help catching the bounties, but because of your quickness and ability to be sneaky, you were a great asset to him catching his targets. Plus, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you—
but he'd never admit that to you.
He generally always wondered how you'd acquired all of these vital survival skills over the years but never asked you, well, for one, because of the enjoyment of peace and quiet. Two, he didn't want to overstep. He wanted to get to know you more, and the more he found out, he always made a mental note to himself.
He remembers that your favorite flowers are nightbloomers, you like the warmth of the sun (because it wistfully reminded you of your home planet) much rather than the harsh and cold snow, your favorite drink is Bantha milk, and you love to secretly dance, especially when you think he isn't looking.
You can say being a quiet person really comes with some perks, especially being an excellent observer. Sometimes it's better just to sit back and watch, and that came as second nature to the both of you.
You sat in the co-pilots chair, basking in the same comfortable silence you two always do. The kid, who's name you found out long ago is Grogu, is fast sleep on your lap. He's snoring lightly, little breaths in and out at a steady pace. His tiny, three-fingered right hand is grasping onto the lapel of your black robe. Your heart swells at the sight.
You hear Mando input something on the navigator of the Razor Crest, and your eyes shift to his fingers. He was putting in new coordinates to a planet.
"Where are we headed?" You ask softly, eyes trained on the navigation system.
"Coruscant. Figured you'd want to get some fresh air and see the markets they have." He replies to you simply, no further explanation.
This was odd— he never really went out of his way to go to a completely different planet he didn't need to be on. Nonetheless, the kind gesture of his didn't make your heart fail to flutter.
You can never tell what goes on through his mind, mostly because you've never seen his face. You knew about the creed the Mandalorians needed to strictly follow prior to meeting him, but didn't know the full extent until he decided to explain it to you on a warm, sunset-filled evening not even a few weeks ago. You'll never forget the way the hues of orange and red reflected off of his armor.
His identity basically became a secret for the rest of his life, from childhood on. You were always curious as to what he looked like, but never questioned him or pushed it because, well, it really wasn't your place to know. You'd only known him for half a year, so you were nowhere near deserving to ask more than slightly intrusive questions about his appearance, or his past.
You arrived to Coruscant faster than you anticipated. The kid was still sleeping soundly when you guys landed, so you made sure to be extra careful to put him in his crib. Soon enough, you made it to a more secluded area of the city-covered planet. It was only a twenty minute walk from where the Razor Crest was stationed.
The planet was warm, and the outskirt markets of the city had solid dirt roads. The sound of dirt crunching under your boots as you walked became all too prominent, realizing the buzzing market before your eyes suddenly became quiet. You were confused at first, until you realized everyone was staring at Mando. He seemed to ignore all of it, probably so used to holding so much power that a whole lively, bustling town falls silent at his mere presence.
The power trip he must have is insane.
Everyone slowly returns to their own doings, some still whispering amongst themselves. You were here for the market, so that's what you were going to focus on.
You stop suddenly, guilt tinging your being just slightly. Mando looks down at you, confused as to why you suddenly halted your movements.
"I don't have any credits." You look up at him, your grimacing face reflecting off of his visor.
"Don't worry about it. We need food for the ship anyways." He keeps walking past you like it's no big deal at all. Although he is the one who captured you, you couldn't help but feel bad for not contributing to buying food or necessities. You know he made a decent amount of credits doing what he does, but you never questioned how much.
Again, it wasn't your space to pry.
"Here," Mando's modulated voice breaks your wandering thoughts, "Buy yourself whatever you'd like." He slips fifty credits in your hands, and you gasp.
"Mando, this is a lot. I can't take this." You shake your head in refusal, trying to push the credits back into his big, stubborn hands.
"I insist. You help out a lot and never complain about a damn thing," He pushes your hands with the credits toward your body, "It's the least I can offer you." He finishes, looking down at you. Oh, how you wish you could see his face underneath all that beskar.
You couldn't form words to show how much gratitude you felt in the moment, so you just offer him a soft, sweet smile.
Something else Din would never tell you: he loved your smile. You seldom did it, but when you did, it's like the weight of the world was lifted off of his shoulders, and he felt like he could relax. It was genuinely such a rare treasure being able to see such a sight.
He looked back up at the busy marketplace, spotting a vendor he wanted to buy something from. Grogu's crib followed Mando, so you went off to a fruit vendor only a few feet away. You smile at the woman as you pick out your favorite fruits, putting them all in one bag. You gave her credits she charged you, thanking her for the bag and you step away to look at what the other vendors had to offer. You saw one that offered Bantha milk, and you gasped in pure delight.
You quickly walked to the stand, immediately getting three bags of the delicious blue milk you used to drink on Tatooine. It reminded you so much of your dad and mornings with him as you sat and watched him repair people's ships from all over the galaxy. He was a very well-trusted mechanic, and he taught you everything you know. Oh, how you miss him dearly.
Mando put a hand on your shoulder, prompting you to turn around and face him. He held out a bag of dried meat toward you, and you happily took a small piece.
"Thank you for bringing me out here," You smile up at him, feeling overly spoiled, "It means a lot that you'd go out of your way." You rest a free hand on the chest plate of his armor without even realizing your actions at first. You quickly remove your hand, gathering up your bags of goodies once more in both arms. You spot a small boutique across the way, excusing yourself from Mando's presence.
You saw the prettiest pale pink nightgown, and you bought it immediately. It got so hot on the ship sometimes because of how warm the heaters were, despite being in freezing cold space nearly all the time. You had fifteen credits after that, so you looked around some more.
You spotted a shoe vendor, but your arm was immediately yanked by Mando before you could even step forward.
"What the—?!" Mando's leather-gloved hand covers your mouth, pulling you to the side of a building and away from the view of the main road.
"New Republic officers and Mandalorians don't get along," He grits, voice sounding agitated, "We need to leave." And all you do is nod in understanding, not even thinking twice about questioning it. He's seen far more of the galaxy than you have, so it's easy to say that what he's saying to you comes from utter experience.
Mando made sure you followed close behind him, and you turned to check on Grogu every couple of minutes. You just wanted to make sure he was safe. That kid could sleep through anything, seriously. He's been asleep this whole time.
Following his lead, you three were hiding behind as many buildings as you could until there was no more. You stopped behind the last building before he looked at you.
"Can you run?" He asks, helmet looking down at you. Of course you can. You grew up on Tatooine. You nod feverishly, adrenaline pumping through the course of your being. He gives you a short, slight nod, before he takes your hand in his and you two book it back to the Razor Crest.
You heard the officers shouting from behind, but both of you couldn't be bothered to look back unless it was to check on the kid. After about ten minutes, you made it back to the ship. You were a bit breathless, but the officers were nowhere to be found.
You've never outrun the law before. To say it was exhilarating would be a complete understatement. You lean your back against a metal wall of the ship, hands behind your head to steady your heart rate. Mando immediately took off, shooting into hyperspace in less than no time.
Your heart was still beating rapidly, but your breaths weren't as labored. Mando made his way back over to you, and you stood up straight once he was in front of you. You looked up at his helmet with wide eyes, then suddenly— you couldn't contain your joy any longer.
You started laughing, hard. So hard that you were hunched over, gripping your sides. You can't believe you just did that.
Maybe for Mando it was something normal, but for you? You'd never do something like that. Your dad would've kicked your ass would he've known about these shenanigans.
Din's heart felt lighter when he heard the sweet sound of your laugh. It was like music to his ears. As soon as you settled down and looked at the shiny armor in front of you, he put both arms on each side of your head. It wasn't in an intimidating fashion whatsoever. It was gentle, almost like he was going to tell you a secret.
"Do you trust me?" He rasps, voice hardly present. You nod, no apprehensiveness in your movements. "Close your eyes. Please. Promise me you won't open them." His words are stern, but still kind.
"I promise," you whisper, immediately closing your eyes. "Mando, what's this abo—" You couldn't even finish your sentence, because a small hissing sound like pressure was being released was very close and present in the air in front of you.
Suddenly, you felt a pair of plush, velvety lips press up against yours. You gasp into the kiss, not expecting it one bit, but still melt into it. Your lips move with his in perfect sync, slow and steady. Your heart was fluttering and your stomach was doing all sorts of flips. Who knew a Mandalorian could be one hell of a kisser?
When your lips finally parted from his, you hear the same pressurized noise, except this time it sounded like it was being sucked in instead of let out.
"It's Din," he says, putting his leather-gloved hand on your cheek, grazing it softly with his thumb. "My name is Din." He reveals, resting the cold metal of the beskar helmet against your forehead. A smile spread across your lips like a wildfire, both hands reaching up to hold either side of his helmet.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Din." You teased, but smiled nonetheless. You knew, right then and there.
Din was your new purpose.

Hello! Can I please request Loki x reader where the reader has a big fear of birds and Loki just finds it amusing? just like random hcs abt thag is fine! thank you :)
I’m so sorry I laughed 💀 I used to be crazily terrified of birds, one time my dad brought in an injured dove and I screamed bloody murder lol
Loki x reader scared of birds
It was so random and thought you were messing with him
Then he went to the park with you one morning and the scream you let out shook the entire park just because a pigeon flew too close to your head
He found it extremely amusing "is it the feathers or the claws? Perhaps the peaks?"
"All of it…just all of it"
He wouldn’t torment you, or at least not all the time, he just finds it…amusing
His little pranks will consist of placing feathers on areas where you sat and make you all suspicious
He even started making bird noises if you’re dozing out
"It’s not funny!" "Oh darling you know I mean you no harm"
You get nudged whenever Sam is around and wearing his suit, especially when the wings are open
"Don’t even start" "I’m just saying if you feel scared-" "shut up"
But in all honestly he would protect you when you get extra panicky and let you hide against him
He still remembers the time you went to wakanda and a giant sat on top your shoulder and you looked like you were two seconds from passing out (you did)
There’s a picture of you passed out in a bed with a great view of wakandas nature, it’s embarrassing but Loki refuses to throw it away
If Loki gets in a fight with you and he doesn’t want to apology he shifts into a bird so you wouldn’t dare approach him till he calms down
Everyone thinks it’s hilarious when you’re standing ten feet away trying to talk the bird version of your partner
"Look I know you’re upset but this is ridiculous!"
"*wings flopping*" "*you screeching in terror*"
But to be fair he feels bad afterwards for putting you through that, as entertaining as it may seem
"You know I love you still correct?" "Yeah yeah sure"

Its so fucking sickening that people will constantly deny the genocide caused by Israel. Its just so disgusting and frustrating and unbelievable and I am not even struggling from this conflict at all but it just makes me fucking cry man. Like what is wrong with you??? Who do you think you are to decide that this isn't happening???
Is this really the world you want to fucking live in one where you just let this disgusting shit happen to these poor people who cannot do anything. It is so fucking easy to do some research I don't fucking care "oh but hamas-" no. Shut the fuck up. Hamas wouldn't even be a fucking issue if it weren't for Israel right now, now would it? And I'm going to be honest, if I had to pick between terrorists or the genocidal fucked up government that pushed them to that extreme. I'm going to pick the terrorists. Being a terrorist is bad, raping and murdering jews is bad. But if wanting Palestinians to not be slaughtered is me supporting terrorism to you? Then yeah fucking fine.
Palestinian people aren't fake news in the distance that you can ignore, they aren't background noise in your life, they're people and they are struggling and they are hurting and I don't understand how that doesn't break your heart.

how do you differentiate night terrors from nightmares? Sometimes I want to talk about mine but I am not sure if I'm using the right terminology
the main difference is that night terrors translate into real-world action in some way. people having nightmares may be restless in their sleep, or make occasional odd noises (grunts, half-screams or yells, etc) but for the most part they remain in deep sleep. people suffering from night terrors, however, are likely to sleepwalk, act out portions of what they're dreaming, scream properly (a lot of witnesses report that this screaming is pretty horrific to witness) and will also sometimes appear fully awake and incapable of recognising their surroundings (they are not actually awake, however).
nightmares are normal, and are generally seen as any dream that creates unpleasant or disturbing feelings. they don't necessary have to be scary, just upsetting or troubling. everyone gets 'em. night terrors, on the other hand, are classified as a sleep disorder, and can cause great distress to the sufferers and witnesses. night terrors are quite common in young children, and many children naturally grow out of them. in older children and adults, it can become an issue, as night terrors disturb sleep and are often disturbing or even traumatising to deal with. even if the dreamer isn't aware afterwards, at the time they still fully believed they were experiencing that horrible thing, and the stress and anxiety it can cause can be extreme.
I actually suffered from night terrors as a kid, same as my mam and grandmother (we even had the exact same dreams, which is freaky). I don't remember anything about them myself, aside from the initial dream that would trigger it, but my mam told me that I would wake the house up screeching like I was being murdered, and when she came to my room I'd be backed into a corner convinced she was an evil hooded figure come to get me lol. she couldn't get near me because I'd freak out even more, so all she could do was just sit in the doorway and talk to me until I woke up. once I did, I would just calmly say "night mam" and go back to bed like I didn't just warp into a little kid from a horror movie for a hot sec. I did this for a few months when I was 5 or 6 and then just grew out of it. shit's insane.

Some thoughts about the Boys finale:
-Noir did not deserve to be done dirty like that, goddamn, but it was very in character for Homelander to do that
-Soldier Boy’s response to getting lazered in the side by Ryan was completely reasonable, honestly, and it’s not like he was focused on fucking up Ryan anyway
-Starlight’s literal glow up was very cool cinematically but it was pretty roughly undercut by the fact that it only managed to knock Soldier Boy back up by like 5 feet, so it was kind of hilarious in retrospect
-Frenchie declaring that he wants healthcare - honestly, King Shit, unionize your workplace my man
-MM getting to fuck up Soldier Boy was very satisfying to me personally, happy to see it, I’m hoping he got some catharsis or closure from that
-Jensen’s acting in this episode was, as usual, Fucking Top Notch, especially him telling Homelander that he was a disappointment and yelling that he wasn’t going to go back in the box
-His new box is badass and i love it, and i cannot wait until he busts out of it to fuck them up again
-Maeve is the one motherfucker i respect for sticking to the goddamn plan and focusing on fucking up Homelander because Homelander was the main threat here and not Soldier Boy, literally everyone else had evacuated and i am almost certain Ryan would have been fine, just powerless, oh my fucking god Butcher i swear to god
-I know Ryan is a child but honestly, fuck Ryan
-I don’t like that Hughie’s whole moral lesson was that he should just stand back and let other people deal with things all the time. Like, cool girlboss moment for the final fight, but he could have teleported everyone out of there and let Soldier Boy explode on Homelander and maybe Ryan. That was an option. Also is the message supposed to be that you shouldn’t try to help save your loved ones when they are in danger if they’re women bc that’s not Feminist (TM)? That men feeling helpless because they’re watching their loved ones in danger is something that men just have to deal with because otherwise they’re misogynists? Sorry but uh fuck that noise? There is a vast difference between “men should be allowed to feel vulnerable” and “men should feel helpless”.
-I respect MM focusing on Soldier Boy, that makes sense, and even Frenchie & Kimiko bc of the whole nerve gas thing. But what the fuck was Starlight’s damage with him? He blows a few things up, with most being targeted and with relatively few innocents involved, and now he’s more of a threat than Homelander, the literal unrepentant mass murderer of many, many innocent people who was personally holding her and Maeve hostage and in constant states of terror and murdered their friends? Like, what? She has the same moral viewpoint of a superhero from the MCU and it’s extremely exhausting. I want to like you girl, give us more ruthlessness and heart, but your Lawful DnD alignment is frustrating to see on the Chaotic Neutral Show. Get Your Priorities In Order.
Anyway, i might add more later but i just had some thoughts.

Harrison Bergeron—Kurt Vonnegut
This is one of my favorite short stories, it's quick to read, but it requires a whole lot of thought to even begin to understand! I want to go over a few interesting things about this story, meaning the themes, symbol(s), and motifs(s) that I've found.
This will contain spoilers! I highly suggest you read the story before reading this post!!!
Themes:
The danger of total equality.
Harrison Bergeron is the story of  a dystopian American society that’s set in the year 2081. In this society, everyone is equal; both mentally and physically. Contrary to the popular belief,  Kurt Vonnegut suggests that total equality is unacheavable in a safe and/or humane manner. He suggests that total equality is not something that is worth striving for; and that it is more so a mistaken goal that is disastrous in both execution and outcome. The government in Vonnegut’s story tortures its citizens. The beautiful must wear hideous masks or disfigure themselves, the intelligent must listen to earsplitting noises that impede their ability to think, and the graceful and strong must wear weights around their necks at all hours of the day. The insistence on total equality seeps into the citizens, who begin to dumb themselves down or hide their special attributes. Some behave this way because they have internalized the government’s goals, and others because they fear that the government will punish them severely if they display any remarkable abilities. The outcome of this quest for equality is disastrous. America becomes a land of cowed, stupid, slow people. Government officials murder the extremely gifted with no fear of reprisal. Equality is more or less achieved, but at the cost of freedom and individual achievement.
The power of television.
Television is an immensely powerful force that sedates, rules, and terrorizes the characters in Harrison Bergeron. To emphasize television’s overwhelming importance in society, Vonnegut makes it a constant presence in his story: the entire narrative takes place as George and Hazel sit in front of the TV. Television functions primarily as a sedative for the masses. Hazel’s cheeks are wet with tears, but because she is distracted by the ballerinas on the screen, she doesn’t remember why she is crying. The government also uses television as a way of enforcing its laws. When dangerously talented people like Harrison are on the loose, for example, the government broadcasts warnings about them. They show a photograph of Harrison with his good looks mutilated and his strength dissipated. The photo is a way of identifying the supposedly dangerous escapee, but it is also a way of intimidating television viewers. It gives them a visual example of the handicaps imposed on those who do not suppress their own abilities. Television further turns into a means of terrorizing the citizens when Diana Moon Glampers shoots Harrison. The live execution is an effective way of showing viewers what will happen to those who dare to disobey the law.
Symbols:
Harrison Bergeron:
The title character of the story represents the spark of defiance and wanting for individuality that still exists in some Americans today. Harrison does not display the passivity or cowardice that virtually everyone else in the story does. Rather, he is an exaggerated, power hungry, alpha male, kind of character. A towering, brave, breathtakingly strong man. When he storms into the TV studio and announces that “‘I am the Emperor!” cried Harrison. “Do you hear? I am the Emperor! Everybody must do what I say at once!’” He then goes on to say that he is the greatest ruler who ever lived, which makes him sound like he has truly lost it. At the same time, however, his boastfulness is exhilarating. It is an exaggerated expression of the defiant urge to excel that some Americans still feel. When Harrison rips off his steel restraints and handicaps, the physical strength and beauty he reveals reminds some viewers that underneath their own restraints and handicaps, they too are still talented or lovely. But in the end, Harrison, symbol of defiance, is killed in cold blood by Diana Moon Glampers, the administrator of government power. The quick, efficient murder suggests that if a defiant spirit still exists in America in 2081, its days are numbered.
Motifs:
Noise:
The noises broadcast by the government increase in intensity and violence during the course of the story, paralleling the escalating tragedy of George’s and Hazel’s lives. When the story begins, a buzzer sounds in George’s head as he watches the ballerinas on TV. As he tries to think about the dancers, who are weighed down and masked to counteract their lightness and beauty, the sound of a bottle being smashed with a hammer rings in his ears. When he thinks about his son, he is interrupted by the sound of twenty-one guns firing, an excessively violent noise that foreshadows Harrison’s murder. Thoughts about the laws of equality and the competition that existed in the old days are shattered by the sound of a siren, a noise that suggests the extent to which the government has literally become the thought police. As Harrison barges into the television studio, George hears a car crash, a noise that connotes the injury of multiple people. The noise that interrupts George roughly at the same time that his son is being executed on live TV is described only as “a handicap signal,” an ominously vague phrase. Vonnegut suggests that the noise is so awful that it can’t be mentioned, just as the murder of Harrison is so awful that George and Hazel can’t fully comprehend it. The final noise George hears is that of a riveting gun, an appropriate echo of the way Diana Moon Glampers killed Harrison.

Shake Chain — Snake Chain (Upset the Rhythm)
Tumblr media
Snake Chain by Shake Chain
The cover of Snake Chain captures the band’s riveting singer Kate Mahony diving headfirst into a black void, mic in hand. Or perhaps she’s lying prone, as anyone would after even ten minutes of such howling, moaning, slurring, spitting intensity. Or possibly it’s just an upside down version of her performing (go ahead, turn it around, it looks like she’s standing up). In any case, the photo captures something essential about the incandescent center of this London four-piece. Mahony whirls like a tornado, plunging down into chaos and rising up in its volatile center. You never know where her voice is going next—into tick-tocking nursery chants or wraith-like screams or dada-ish existential poetry. The band is good, too, but the thing about Shake Chain is Kate Mahony.
The disc opens with a crime in progress, a post-industrial buzz erupting as a male voice howls “STACE” (also the track’s title) and “Let go of it,” while a woman screams “Help me,” panting, desperate, electric with terror. You’re not really sure what’s going on in the track, but it’s horrifying, and though there is a bare, minimalist kind of music behind it, what really holds your attention is the rape or murder or whatever it is going on in the foreground.
Subsequent tracks follow a more conventionally punk rock blueprint, with thick repetitive riffs that thump and roll and crash around Mahony and climaxes of slashing, pummeling noise that frame her mayhem nicely. But when you listen to “RU,” you only half hear the r ‘n r foundation. What you’re fixed on is the way that Mahony is trilling the title phrase repeatedly, in a frantic, ragged register that suggests extreme agitation. Or, later, in “Internet,” where blasts of guitar noise spray like fire hydrants, knocking everything sideways, you are unable to turn away because of the way Mahony yelps and recoils and scrawls a line of blood on this unyielding sonic wall.
A madness percolates through these songs, even when Mahony isn’t having a fit (for the moment), as on “Architecture,” where to a swinging, swaggering, churning bassline, the singer assures us that “because I enjoy architecture, I’m more likely to succeed.” The Peewee’s Playhouse Word of the Day for this band is, apparently, “unhinged” and I’ve been trying not to use it. But even at her most hinged, Kate Mahony is one scary, unpredictable singer.
This is a feral, dangerous variety of punk rock, and if your favorite thing is Dry Cleaning mouthing witty asides in a BBC accent, you will probably not like it. But if you have any sympathy for the idea of burning it all down, here’s your jam.

click through for important rambling about The Sword & Sorcery Genre
it’s real Charles R. Saunders Appreciation Hours, guest starring Elric because elric is the new wolverine (he must guest star in everything)
hot take: to me the “Big Three” of Sword and Sorcery are Moorcock, Leiber, and Saunders
you know it really sucks how Charles R. Saunders died alone and poor and obscure during the pandemic and mainstream (read: white) fantasy readers (including myself) are only starting to give him the attention he deserves
Doussouye is the most underrated fantasy heroine of all time and i’m really mad about it
basically it’s like this:
saunders writing the imaro stories: writes the black version of the conan-esque power fantasy that he wishes he’d had growing up. with a dash of ironic meta-commentary about robert e. howard’s race science. also writes a story inspired by the rwandan genocide and later deeply regrets it and expunges it from publication.
saunders writing doussouye: now he’s fully warmed up and he creates a compelling “doomed wanderer” type warrior lady and her huge-and-badass-but-loyal-as-a-puppy-dog animal companion. in a world that basically attempts to create the “generic medieval african setting” counterpart of the ubiquitous “generic medieval european fantasy setting”. and also there’s the one about her saving an adolescent girl from genital mutilation (less good than the others imo).
in my daydreams doussouye and elric have to team up for some reason. imagine the terror of their shared enemies. here’s two tall, lean, beautiful, graceful, intense expert sword fighters coming at you and one is a woman with very dark skin and one is a man with extremely pale skin and so they murder together very aesthetically. AND there’s an enormous bull and a sword that makes horrible demonic noises distracting you. you are now very very dead.
also stormbringer will emphatically refuse to feed off doussouye because she only has one of her three souls (the other two were in a sacred tree and her umbilical cord and are now destroyed which is why she’s in exile). please read Doussouye i’m beggign you

for the record I like both the twins but I understand they are deeply mentally ill teenagers meant to symbolically represent the modern age of terrorism. both of them are extremely funny in a deeply pathetic way & analysing whatever is wrong with them has been something bouncing around rent-free in my brain for a decade
nothing will ever beat “kind of butch middle school wolf girl mercenary who dissociates out her fucking skull listening to harsh noise + EBM and is incapable of recognizing even her most basic emotions. she got a career committing mass murder by being a huge airsoft dork” as a character concept. truly unmatched
