I have opted to read Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man as a transgender allegory.

In canon Peter has learned that he was supposed to have been bitten by a spider 20 years ago and his destiny was stolen from him. He is offered a chance to correct this and has a midlife crisis about it (this is not revealed until the end of the issue).

The conversations he has with his wife and uncle (who is alive in this canon) play out as such.

Peter is 35 while having these conversations.

I was 35 when I had similar conversations with my loved ones. Those "I have to blow everything up" conversations mixed in with "nothing's going to change"

"It's just... for the longest time, I've thought there was something wrong with my life[...]-- with me. I can't really explain it, but now I just know that I've been right all along... and I don't know what to do"

Say what you want about authorial intent and context, this issue and these pages are about transition in my mind. I empathize with them as strongly as bullied 15 year old nerdy outcasts empathized with 1962's introduction to Stan Lee's Peter.

The Atsv writers were so foul for having Peter B not help Miles even though he basically became his older brother in Itsv for the sake of making Ghostflower more 'important' as if they didn't pull them off as a trio perfectly before WITH the Gwen and Miles romance subplot and when we could've gotten more MJ and Mayday and maybe Aunt May and even bigger refs to classic Spidey lore and definitely even more screentime for the full Spiderband so they'd feel like a canonical team already instead of us having to wait for Beyond.Now i gotta deal with people who's top tags are #Hobie Brown Smut and #Noirpunk trying to drag him for not knowing how to treat black kids right

Ever since hearing about/watching the 2021 Awdry Christmas lecture, I’ve been thinking about how Awdry’s notes refer to Duke as both a “he” and “she.”

In my headcanon/AU, I imagine Duke hearing that typo. Maybe it’s in a monograph that’s going around. Maybe it’s still a YouTube video in that universe, streamed on a laptop for the SKR’s engines. Regardless of how, Duke blinks at being called a “she.”

The others ask if it bothers him. He tells the truth: no, it doesn’t. There’s no harm behind it. “It was simply an accident,” he says. Yet he feels a pang in his cylinders.

Soon, he realizes that he didn’t want it to be an accident.

All his life, Duke assumed that he was only a “he.” His builders and managers told him so. He did feel like a “he” a lot of the time, and he didn’t have the space or energy to probe any deeper on the MSR.

But he’s on the SR now. He knows nobody’ll kick up a fuss, trusts everyone here. So he asks them all to call him a “she” some days — on days when “he” doesn’t settle quite right.

And it feels wonderful. It’s the same joy she felt when Stuart and Falcon called her Granpuff for the first time. “I’m not one for sentimentalities,” she says one evening, “but I truly feel… fuller, in a sense.”

Later, Rheneas and Rusty suggest the idea of different lamp irons for Duke. On days when Duke’s a “he,” he can wear a lamp with a copper handle. On days when Duke’s a “she,” she can wear a lamp with a brass handle. Duke loves this, taking it up once the works have the lamps ready. It’s quick and efficient communication.

“For once, ye’re plain-speakin’,” Duncan says once he sees the lamps. But he’s smiling. Duke smiles back, chuckling at Rusty’s eye-roll.

The only real bit of angst Duke feels over this whole thing is her name. She wants to keep it because she’s very proud of it, but she worries that His Grace wouldn’t think it proper anymore. “I couldn’t bear it if he asked me to be ‘Duchess’ on those days,” he admits.

“He won’t do that,” Skarloey tells him. “And even if he asks, you don’t have to give him anything. This isn’t a train to pull, after all. It’s something entirely yours.”

“We’re with you, Granpuff,” Peter Sam says, soft and gentle.

Sir Handel sits up tall. “He’ll have to get through us.”

In the end, Sir Robert expresses happiness on Duke’s behalf. “A title is supposed to empower you. If you feel strengthened by it, emboldened by it, then I’d say it’s the right fit!”

Duke is grateful. (So are Sir Handel and Peter Sam, who shelve their plans of vengeance on Sir Robert for saying anything different.) And life goes on even brighter and richer than before.

Ur agere Davybaby headcannons making me realize I do that shit too… I ended up looking into what age regression actually was in like medical terms and in the community and stuff and I can’t believe Davy Jones headcannons are what made me realize…

In honor of this (I guess) I’m gonna give you some Transmasc Davy Agere thoughts.

Davy doing agere in a subconscious attempt to relive the boyhood he was denied growing up as a little girl. The Monkees canonical matching race car sheets is because Davy kept getting excited about them when he saw them in the department stores but he was too embarrassed to admit he wanted race car seats so the other guys got race car sheets and Davy was like “well it’d be weird if all of you had them and I didn’t so I guess I’ve gotta get some now!”

The other monkees sharing things they did as a kid and relating over classic like 9 year old boy things to do (like digging up worms and stuff) making Davy think about how he wasn’t allowed to play in the dirt cause he had to keep his dresses clean and then trying to convince the guys that he wants to those things but for *them* so *they* can relive their fond childhood memories and then when they start doing the things they enjoyed as kids they still like it but Davy is just ecstatic about it so whenever he suggests it they still go and play with him because he’s just so cute when he gets that happy. Whenever it rains Davy still picks up the worms he sees on the sidewalks and drops them in the dirt. Davy still falls asleep on long car drives and has to get carried in the house.

Davy has a collection of toys and when he’s alone he’ll play out little scenes with them. Davy will go outside and play in the sand for hours and then when the other monkees go out to see what he was doing he had dug out little ‘canyons’ for his toys and some of them are still left in the mounds of sand so they pick them up and take them inside (rinsing off the sand) and put them in Davys toybox (which Davy refuses to call a toybox because he’s an adult and those obviously aren’t toys they’re…something else)

Also Davy has opinions about play structures which he doesn’t realize is strange but Micky really likes getting his honest reviews on every single play structure they see. I have more thoughts but this has been enough projecting onto characters for one evening.

(And while I have your attention, ur fanfic is great and so enjoyable. Very tasting king, never stop 💛)

Despite popular belief, The Monkees is a very educational show 🤭🫡

And I was thinking along these lines last night omg you extracted from my brain!

He always gets super jealous when the guys are reminiscing their childhoods and all the things they were allowed to do that he wasn’t. He always tries to play along because he’s embarrassed to admit he never did those things. One or more of the guys will pick up on that and explain a story in way too much detail for Davy’s benefit so that he can pick up on all the little things he missed. Then when they go out to relive it, Davy knows what’s up.

Davy would sometimes hate regressing because it’s not ‘manly’ enough and it would make him insecure. He pushes himself to his limits every day to come across as masculine even though he has nothing to prove. Being the odd one out in a house of cis men has made him develop a bit of toxic masculinity around himself. Sometimes he pushes himself that bit too far and breaks. The guys have to nudge him into that headspace to help him.

Davy has lots of ‘boy’ toys but he also has a small collection of ‘girl’ toys that he used to have as a kid because despite everything, they’re a comfort. He keeps those well hidden and never lets them out of his room. (The guys have all seen them and don’t really care but they know Davy cares).

Davy never grew up with toy cars or learning mechanics and stuff like that since (it’s the 60’s) that’s a ‘man’s job’. Because of this he’s completely clueless on car models, parts, repairs, etc so Micky will get him toy cars and explain the different parts to him in a kid friendly way. (He can only teach Davy these things while he’s little so it doesn’t seem condescending). Micky is the first to get the race car sheets because ‘I always loved cars!’ Then Mike because ‘well the Monkeemoblie is my baby and this is almost the same’ then peters like ‘hey Davy we should match them!’ Because Peter knows he has to verbally ask Davy and make it seem like his idea so Davy will agree. (He’ll be like ‘urgg whatever peter sure’ then turn away and be like ‘YES’)

Marauders fans I have an idea

Imagine James Potter noticing a pattern in Remus behavior : missing class once a month, spending some days in the infiarmery, being moody and particularly tired, eating a ton of chocolate...

All of that remind James of his Mom and so he though he discovered the secret of his friend.

Remus is trans, that's make sense, he probably don't want his classmates to know so unlike the girls he has access to the infiermary, plus he must be in huge discomfort because boys don't have their periods and Remus is a boy but he has periods. Keep in my mind that James is pretty young at this time, he knows about trans people thanks to his parents, but also knows that the wizarding world is not as open. He also doesn't know who he could trust, so he doesn't say anything nor to Sirius nor to Peter.

When the time comes once a month James is particularly careful with Remus, offering him chocolate, asking for the boys to be calm in the dorm the night before and the night when Remus come back, pretexting that him, the James Potter is tired, taking good notes in class for the missing boy ( even though Evans will lend him her notes )...

Remu notice of course, he doesn't know what to think, James isn't supposed to know about is wereabouts, so as much as he's grateful for his attention he's also scared. How James could have known in a few months, and still not say anything.

Lily Evans, the smartest witch of their generation, is having the time of her life watching James. How can he be so smart yet so wrong ? How this young boy coming from one of the oldest wizard family could have think of something so muggle ? She's eleven and watch Potter being the best of the friends, not telling anything to anyone, while doing a lot of thing to help Remu. He doesn't explain why, he tells no explanation and yet the other accept the routine and eventually follow his lead, sometimes it's time for jokes and sometimes for calm, it's a welcome break for every Gryffondor first year . Lily watch and find this cute and generous how he is that good of a friend for something he have absolutly no clues about.

Watching the interanl turmoil in James is very fun, until it isn't. Remus is more and more scared by his friend behavior, he's paranoid, what does James want, has he told anyone, what is he waiting for.

Lily seeing that James doesn't know how or what to ask to Remus in order to respect his privacy while Remus fear grows more and more decide to step in.

On one their afternoon tea she tell Remus, she knows he's a werewolf, she has knew for a very long time. James on the other hand misread the clues. She didn't ask for him to tell James about the truth, but he did.

Remus John Lupin is a Werewolf, and James Potter and Lily Evans are still his best friend.

sirius black: 184. i personally love taller sirius, and especially taller than james :) (he rests his arm on james' head) it's also helpful in quidditch, large arm span,

james potter: 167. short king 💪loves being big spooned by his taller gf

peter pettigrew: 165. he's just a bit shorter than james and honestly he doesn't care much about his height

remus lupin: 190. he's the tallest out of them and uses his advantage to put things on the top shelves all the time, and especially loves to see james struggling with reaching said things. hits his head in doorframes all of the time

mary macdonald: 174. she's pretty tall compared to her friends and she rocks it, she loves her height. she thinks it makes her very hot (it does)

lily evans: 173. loves being just one centimeter taller than mary, it's the perfect difference in her opinion

marlene mckinnon: 159. doesn't care much about her height either. in quidditch, she might be shorter, but the strength of her arms help her. tiny but mighty 💪
