Ours | Derek Hale Oneshot
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3.5K Requested by @gracelynn318: "Derek or Stiles finding out that their significant other (the reader) is pregnant and they try to keep it secret for as long as possible" Warnings: pregnancy, pregnancy symptoms (vomiting, nausea, fatigue)
Summary: Derek Hale and (Y/N) have been together for a long time, and they didn't know something was missing from their lives until it arrived unexpectedly. And all they want to do is revel in the moment for as long as they can, by themselves.
A/N: this story follows 0% of canon, just the character's names. will admit. I am a horrible Teen Wolf fan that has yet to see season 5 and 6, and I've also yet to watch the movie. So, definitely an AU 😬also, be on the lookout for tonight or tomorrow for another surprise regarding this request 😉😉
Tumblr media
Derek had noticed the change long before (Y/N) had. Long before she knew why she spent her days expelling her meals down the toilet drain, before she understood why her body craved more food than she could keep down, before she had even noticed that a month had passed and her period had not arrived.
It came late at night. The soft putter of a heartbeat that felt so far that it could have been confused with the sound of rain against the pavement. They had been lying in bed, the exhaustion of living in Beacon Hills the only thing they needed to crash at night. But the sound had been bothering Derek. The continuous rhythm didn’t allow the wolf to lose himself in much-needed slumber. The sound kept him up, especially from where it was coming from.
“(Y/N),” he whispered, running his hand up and down her arm to wake her. “(Y/N), baby, wake up.”
“Mm,” she groaned groggily, cuddling to his body tightly. “Go to sleep, Derek.”
“(Y/N), I gotta ask you something. Wake up.”
“We can talk in the morning,” she whined. “I’m tired right now.”
“It’s important,” he chuckled softly. “I need your complete focus.”
With a loud exhale, (Y/N) sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The sheet fell from her torso, and the coldness of the night made her skin erupt in goosebumps. She rarely got angry with Derek, but she was coming quite close at that very moment. “You better have a good reason to wake me, Der,” she said. “I’m so tired I might just put off killing you until tomorrow.”
“Listen, please,” he said. “When was the last time you got your period?”
“What?” the girl questioned. “You seriously just woke me up to ask about my cycle?”
“More or less. Just answer. Did you get it last month?”
It took her a moment to think. The grogginess of being woken up still clutched her mind, and recounting the past weeks was hard. But her body startled awake as she realized she had not gotten her shark week in a month and a half. That fact alone did not scare her. She had always been irregular, and in moments of stress, it was more likely than not that she skipped a cycle. The problem was that not only had she missed a period, she had been feeling sick for the past three weeks. And the math was not too hard to do.
“I-I didn’t,” she stammered. “W-why are you asking?”
“Oh my god,” he answered. “Oh my god!”
“What? What’s wrong?”
Instead of answering, Derek pressed his ear to her stomach until he could hear the sound clearly. Alongside (Y/N)’s quickening heartbeat, a quieter, steady pattern joined. It was too indistinguishable now. “You’re pregnant,” he said. So quiet he wasn’t sure if he had said it at all. “There’s a baby in there. Our baby.”
“Pregnant…” (Y/N) could not believe the word even as it rolled out of her tongue. “I can’t believe it.”
“We’ll go to Deaton tomorrow, but I’m certain. I can hear their heart beating in there.”
(Y/N)’s mind was reeling. Pregnant, she thought to herself. The word felt foreign. So did her body. Derek had noticed the change before her. How could she not have known that a life was growing inside her? How could she ever be a mother when she did not even know herself?
Without realizing it, tears fell down her cheeks. She felt weak and panicked. The strong woman that had faced the biggest dangers and far scarier monsters trembled with the thought of a life depending on her for survival. It was one thing to volunteer to protect the members of the pack. They were old enough to fend for themselves. It was another to be responsible for the life and survival of another human.
“Hey,” Derek called. His voice sounded like it was underwater. So far away that she could barely hear it. “Baby, what’s going on?”
She hadn’t noticed that she had stood from the bed and was pacing around their room. Her breathing was shallow, and her chest heaved as she took in short breaths, trying to steady herself. Tears kept falling faster than she could wipe them away. They warmed her cheeks before the air turned them cold. It was the only thing that grounded her.
And Derek. Always Derek.
He had gotten off the bed, and within a second, he was wrapping his arms around her. The warmth from his skin calmed her. It brought her senses back to the moment, steadying her rampant heart.
“What’s wrong, (Y/N)?” he spoke into the crook of her neck. “Tell me what I can do to make it better.”
“I’m scared, Derek,” she sighed, tightening her grip around him. “A baby. Here. Now.”
“Why not here?” Derek smiled, his hands running through her hair. “Why not now? With you as their mother, that baby could be born underground, and they would be the luckiest child in the world.”
“How could you be so sure?” (Y/N) cried. “I forget things all the time, I’m clumsy, I can barely redeem myself when it comes to fighting. If it weren’t for my weapons, I wouldn’t bring much to the fight against our enemies. What good would I be to protect a child? How could I be entrusted with their entire upbringing?”
“Oh, (Y/N). You’re far more valuable than what you bring to a fight.” His hands cradled her face, the green of his eyes boring into hers. “You are the most caring person I know. If it weren’t for you, I would have killed half of the pack by now. You’re smart. You’re funny. And if anyone should be terrified of becoming a parent, it should be me.”
“Come on,” she scoffed jokingly, her tears finally subsiding. “You’d be an amazing father. Temperamental, but great nonetheless.”
“Well, I’m glad it at least got you laughing,” he grinned. “How about we just take this one day at a time, baby? Make sure we take things slow. Tell people on our own time. Instead of going to the doctor, we buy a pregnancy test at the pharmacy; confirm what I already know.”
“But if you can hear the heartbeat, I am sure all the other wolves will, too,” she worried. “How am I supposed to take things as they come when everyone will know the second they come here?”
“Then, I won’t let anyone back here,” he smiled. “I’ll have them meet me at the warehouse or at Argent’s place. We can say you’re sick with something and won’t be there. Or that you went to visit family out of state –I don’t know. The point is, we can do this, baby. I know we can.”
“Well, I do admire your tenacity,” she chuckled, kissing his lips softly and hugging him again. “One day at a time, right?”
“One day at a time.”
And it worked. For two months, at least.
That very morning, he went out and returned home with five pregnancy tests and a bouquet of flowers. And five minutes later, they all showed an array of dark pink plus signs and the word Pregnant on them. Just like that, it had been confirmed. A new baby Hale would be coming to Beacon Hills in eight months.
They were excited. Of course, they were. But they couldn’t help the terror that overtook them as well. Bringing a new life into their world was a scary thought. The fact that anyone with knowledge of their child could use them against them was terrifying. Still, they wanted that baby more than anything they had wanted before.
The child that grew inside of (Y/N) was the tangible representation of their love. Evidence that everything life had thrown at them had not been able to push them apart, not for a second. They had been through hell and back, always together, and they had come out of every single occasion stronger than before. That baby was the final piece to their equation.
The next day, they went to the first available OB/GYN about an hour from the town. The doctor confirmed what they already knew, adding the new fact that she was around seven weeks along. The process was more than uncomfortable, but the result was well worth it. A tiny blob appeared on the screen, and the sound of a rapid heartbeat filled their ears. It made tears well up in their eyes. That tiny thing would soon turn into their baby. And even though it didn’t even have a distinguishable shape, they had fallen in love with them.
At first, they thought they would pass the first trimester in bliss. That they would only grow more and more excited as the days passed. And they would have. Had it not been for all the symptoms that overtook (Y/N).
She spent most of her day hunched over the toilet seat, emptying whatever was in her stomach. Even when she thought she could keep food down, an hour or two later, she would be in the bathroom letting it out. And if she wasn’t vomiting, she was ransacked with deep waves of nausea. Then, her breasts started to swell, painful jabs running through her every few days. In addition to heartburn and fatigue, it made her question just how worth it a baby could be.
But Derek had been attentive as ever, if not a little overbearing. He had kept his promise of moving where the meetings were held, claiming that the loft was under renovation while (Y/N) was out of town for a bit. It wasn’t a complete lie, though. He used his downtime to clean up around the house and fix things he had put off for far too long.
He fed her saltine crackers and electrolyte drinks, rubbed her back, and held her hair, and he loved her. Every day and every night, he loved her. Even when he had to stay up cleaning the bathroom or he had to carry her back to bed. He loved her through everything.
“You did this to me,” she had groaned one day. “All I want is to eat chips and pickles, but I can’t keep anything down.”
“I know, and I’m sorry,” he responded, drawing circles on her back as he cradled her body in the bathroom. “Hopefully, in a week, it’ll subside. You’re almost out of the first trimester, and the morning sickness should get better.”
“Stop reading pregnancy books,” she whined. “By the time this bun is fully baked, you’ll know more than me.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” Derek chuckled but swallowed his laughter as (Y/N) gifted him an angry scowl. “Okay, okay. I think the ten books I’ve read will do.”
(Y/N) remained quiet and threw her head against his chest. His arms snaked around her body, a comfort she allowed herself to sink into. The warmth from his body felt nice against her shivering skin. But just his presence was enough to comfort her, regardless of the words she spoke.
“I’m sorry I’ve been snappy these past few days,” she sighed. Her eyes closed as he wrapped his arms tighter around her, her head falling against his chest. “I love this baby, and I love you, but I don’t love puking all the time. And peeing all the time. And being tired all the time. I want to fast forward to the next few months.”
“Hey, you can be snappy with me all you want. I can take it,” he said with a smile. “I will be right here every step of the way because I love you. More than you could ever know.”
“Even when I’m all big and bloated?” (Y/N) chuckled, her hands falling onto the growing small bump. “They're already trying to deform my body.”
“Well, at least you’re glowing.”
“No,” she sighed. “That’s just sweat.”
“Then you look beautiful covered in sweat,” he laughed. “Now, let’s get you to bed. Alright?”
(Y/N) could only nod and wrap her arms around his neck as he carried her back to bed, laying right next to her. Even if he couldn’t take this discomfort away, he was trying his best to make things better for her.
Another week passed, and things started to shift. The woman would only occasionally feel the need to throw up her food, but the constant nausea and heartburn had subsided. And once (Y/N) saw her baby's small fingers and feet in their 12-week ultrasound, she knew it had all been worth it.
She also knew they couldn’t keep the secret to themselves any longer.
The pack had become angsty. Wondering when (Y/N) would be coming back from her supposed trip. Two and a half months was far too long to just be with family. With no imminent danger in sight, they had too much time to check up on everyone else.
“I think it’s time we tell them,” (Y/N) told Derek as they watched a movie. She cradled her small bump, something she had unconsciously started to do. “We’re almost at the five-month mark, and I think it’ll be too hard to hide.”
“Do we really?” he groaned. “I can just keep you hidden here until the nine months are up. They don’t have to know a thing.”
“You would really keep the mother of your child sequestered in these walls until I give birth?”
“Maybe even more,” he shrugged. “Maybe I’ll keep you here forever.”
“You’re quite funny, Mr. Hale,” she chuckled. “But they are our friends —our family. They deserve to know there’s one more person to protect.”
“I’ve just really liked this time,” he sighed. His chin rested on her shoulder, his beard tickling her exposed skin. “You know, just you and me. Basking in the time we won’t have once everyone knows and once the baby is here. It’s all I’ve ever wanted, (Y/N). A family of my own, that I can love and protect. A home that’s ours.”
“And we will have that,” she smiled. “We’re just allowing more love in. The best part, at the end of the day, we can just kick them out.”
“When you put it that way,” he laughed before kissing her lips, savoring her. “Alright, fine. We’ll tell them next Saturday.”
“Thank you, Der. It’s gonna be great.”
And it should have.
Had it not been for the million things that went wrong that week. The A/C was busted for a total of four days, a pipe burst in one of the bathrooms, the paint they had ordered for the nursery had been put on back order, and the Camaro had to be taken into the shop for tuning. Thing after thing occurred, piling onto an already stressful time.
Nevertheless, the week came and went. And before either of them knew it, Saturday had rolled in.
To say (Y/N) was nervous was an understatement. For some reason, anxiety was taking over her body. Its claws dug themselves deep into her being. It made her veins run cold and her heart speed. She didn’t know how any of them would react to the baby. Even to the fact that they had kept it from them for so long. And although Derek tried his best to calm her worries, they had already made a home inside her head.
“God, what if they hate the fact that I’m pregnant?” (Y/N) worried as she laid out more food than necessary on the kitchen counter. “What if they find the idea of bringing a child into a messed up world to be the worst thing ever?”
“Who cares, baby? It’s our child,” Derek tried to reassure. “We are the ones that will be raising them. The ones to protect them. Always and forever.
“But they say it takes a village, Der. And that is one thing that I know is true. I mean, at some point, we will need their help.”
“And you really think we won’t have it,” he said, rounding the kitchen island. His hands traveled her body and, in one swift move, had her sitting on the counter. At eye level, he could stare directly into her glossy eyes. “We have been through everything with these people. Even the ones I hated at the beginning have become my closest friends. I’m 100% sure they’ll be thrilled that you’re pregnant.”
He snaked his hand to her chin, pulling her down for a soft kiss. But once their lips made contact, it was too much of a temptation to keep it chaste. Soon enough, their tongues danced together, and their hands pulled each other closer. It left them breathless and excited, wanting —needing more.
“Uh, we can come back if it’s a bad time,” Stiles’ voice rang through the apartment, startling them apart. “But you guys did invite us here. So, it’s kind of bad on you guys.”
“No. Yes! I mean, it’s not a bad time,” (Y/N) chuckled as she jumped off the counter, hiding her stomach with a comically large bowl. “We just got carried away, I guess.”
“The one day they decide to show up on time,” Derek grumbled under his breath. “Come in, why don’t you?”
Before they knew it, the apartment was filled with werewolves, a banshee, other werehumans and supernatural beings, and their very own abominable snowman. The couple remained in the kitchen as everyone situated themselves, whispering under their breath what the best way to go about it would be.
“Not to be pushy,” Peter called out. “But if you guys only called us over for some food, I have better things to do than hang around children all day.”
“You do know we’re all well above the age of eighteen, right?” Isaac retorted. “It’s been quite some time since we have been children.”
“You’re still younger than me, correct?”
“Well, yeah…”
“Then children,” he said. “So, what is it? Am I staying, or am I leaving?”
“Settle down, Peter,” Derek responded, biting back the urge to roll his eyes. “We do have something important to announce to everyone and would very much appreciate it if you just listen.”
“Fine,” he frowned. “But you have ten minutes of my time before I decide to leave.”
“All we need is a couple of seconds, really,” (Y/N) said with a smile on her face so sweet no one dared say anything else. “I’m sure you heard that I was away for a while and that we were undergoing renovations here. Which, as you can tell by the lack of changes, was not true. Derek lied on my behalf and moved any necessary meetings out of our home because I needed this time to myself as I underwent a sort of change in my life.”
“Oh my god, you’re dying,” Stiles worried. “Is it cancer? Is it at least treatable?”
“It’s nothing like that, Stiles,” she reassured with a soft chuckle. “But thank you for worrying. It’s just as life-changing but not necessarily life-threatening. At least, I’m hoping it’s not. But you could never be sure until…”
“(Y/N), you’re rambling,” Derek whispered in her ear. “It’s nothing bad.”
“You’re pregnant!” Lydia exclaimed, a bright smile adorning her face.
“How would you know that?” Malia questioned. “I thought you predicted death, not new life.”
“It’s common sense,” she shrugged, disregarding the comment. “She’s been hiding for months. The place smells like paint, and nothing in this room is painted, so I can only assume it’s a bedroom. And she hasn’t stepped out from behind the island that just so happens to cover her stomach. Two and two always makes four.”
“Except on this occasion, it made three,” (Y/N) chuckled. She walked around the counter and joined Derek’s side, her bump finally on display for everyone to see. “But, yes, Lydia, I am pregnant. Almost five months now.”
A shower of ‘holy crap’s and ‘oh my god’s rained over them as, one by one, the pack got to their feet and hugged the couple in congratulations. They rejoiced together and started planning how to spoil little baby Hale even before they were born. Every single person was as excited and overjoyed as Derek and (Y/N) were, anxious for when the baby was born.
Well, except Peter.
“Yeah, next time you have these kinds of news, little nephew, make sure to make it an email,” he grumbled, looking at his watch. “Can’t believe I canceled evening plans for a pregnancy announcement.”
“We love you too, Peter,” (Y/N) laughed. “Maybe if you leave now, you can still make it to whatever it is that you had planned.”
“I’m already here,” he shrugged as he sat back down on the sofa. “Might as well take advantage of the free food.”
“Ignore him,” Derek told her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “He can’t take this moment away from us. It’s all ours.”

Mind if I request a continuation of your Chris McLean x reader angst? Where Chris ends up reaching out becuase he does genuinely want them back in his life but they decline, not wanting to get hurt by him again?
Apologises I took a while to answer this!! I hope you like it nonetheless, enjoy! <3
CHRIS MCLEAN ANGST (PART 2)
Tumblr media
You had forgotten about Chris.
Until a Summer day when you needed to go grocery shopping on one of the streets you used to go with Chris all the time.
Like his prominent being would be there on a busy Saturday now.
Would it be wrong to try relive the memory with someone else?
Yes... Yes it would.
“(Y/N)!”
Huh? Someone here knew your name?
You turn around to see the caller and gasp.
The very man in his dark-turquoise shirt and stubble.
Looking right at you.
“Chris?” What was he doing here?
“Sure is! How you been?” he smacks a hand on your back, then looks around the ageing shops, much more vibrant when you were younger,“We...used to come here a lot, didn’t we?”
“Yeah... We did.” you block out your brain’s motive to flash a teen memory montage.
Clearly Chris hadn’t,“Yeah! Back when I wasn’t as popular and as famous. I wonder if I was always destined to be as cool as I am today. Must be nice living without the paparazzi constantly trying to get shots of you living ordinary, right?” who the hell starts a conversation like that? Oh, you wanted to move on, but he wouldn’t let you,“Hey, where are you going?”
“Sorry...” you turn back around meaninglessly,“This...meeting wasn’t on my mind when I came here. I have errands to do.”
“Aw, seriously? You can’t leave them for a day to spend some time with your childhood bud?” he walked towards you, trying persuasion with his perfect smile.
...Why does he care? Did he intend to find you here?... He couldn’t even get the timing of your friendship right,“We met in middle school.”
His unchanged eyes slide around his sclerae,“Whatever, same difference. But I do miss our glory days! When we didn’t have a care in the world and we did things together all the time!”
This was very illogical,“I don’t understand... I texted you almost everyday and you never replied to me, but you had no problem updating your story.”
“Uh, maybe because I was busy and I updated it to show my contacts not to expect an answer from me anytime soon? Seriously, ya gotta learn to pick up on these things, (Y/N).” If he was gonna say that, he could have at least put the phone he was holding away to make it more believable,“But you know, seeing you here made me reminisce about the good times we had and how with my new luxurious lifestyle, I barely had time to fit you in it! If you really have to go though, I’ll just text it and post, okaaay?”
“You’re...gonna text me?” That liver of hope...with that alone, you forgot everything. To ask why he was even there in the first place, the acceptance of your rusty ties with him. Just that you...had something bright today,“Okay... Sure, I’ll reply to you as soon as possible.”
You got home and spent the next few hours at your desk, getting on with some studying and allowing your brain to soak in the promises of the interaction you had. Could it be that he missed you? Was thinking about you? Would always have chosen you out of the dozens of women he talked to everyday?
This could mean really great things, you know! This had to mean something. Maybe he’s staying in your life for good now!
Your phone pings. They always said that phones were a bad distraction, and looking back on it, you should’ve listened.
“You know I had to scroll to get to your number”
“We really haven’t talked a lot have we!”
You didn’t answer in hast. You didn’t want to show him how this desperation chained you.
“Yeah we haven’t”- we being he. That doesn’t matter. Chris was online and was talking to you. Your best friend from middle school was talking to you. This was a blessing!
You had yourselves a good catch up conversation. Well you say good when most of it was very one sided, your chat overflowing with more messages from him in neglect.
Though, your enthusiasm is zapped back up when he sends this:
“Sooo I looked at my schedule and found the only day I’m free is Monday. You wanna meet at Tim Hortons and just talk about life stuff?”
Tim Hortons... He remembered that as well? And Monday?... You used to always go out on that specific day. Was that intentional?
Was there a reason why he didn’t bother asking you how your life’s been then? Because he wanted to save it for when you two were person to person?
This is it... This was happening! He wanted you back in his life!
But why does your stomach feel so upset?
Maybe because it’s when and where he wanted to go the most.
Oh, right...
Your smile is erased.
Everything falls back for him at the end.
And maybe your organs had caught you, before you got reattached to this man.
They never change. He’s only talking to you because none of his celebrity friends can.
And once they do, he’ll forget about you all over again.
Exactly. It’s about time you stop crying over something that’ll never happen again.
You type, every letter cutting the tip of your finger like a thorn.
“We don’t need to. I think we should just be the way we were before. Don’t get me wrong, it was nice having you talk to me again and being friends with you. Congrats on all the success!”
After that, a whirl of messages from his end bombarded your phone. You take a glimpse of some of the words, “kidding”, “why”, “problem”, “jealous”.
Wow, his temper was launched into space quick. He was like a bird, getting all the useless stuff, but too full for the real goods.
I get it. You’re angry. No one’s ever said no to you. Everything has always been about you.
You put aside your phone satisfied, unresponsive. It felt good to finally have that closure.
Not tonight.

Everything Ends: Part 6
EE Masterlist. Ultimate Masterlist.
Tumblr media
_______________________________________________
Back at the lair
"Soooo, what do we do with this thing?" April questioned, holding the key up in her hand. You and Splinter stood beside the teen, while Splinter choose to tug on his beard in thought, you were still processing certain events.
"We could always burn it, fire gets rid of everything." Splinter rushed out, rather suspiciously. April sent him a side eye, "Uuh huh, I don't even wanna know."
She turned to you with a bright smile, "What about you, (Y/N)? Got any good ide-" her voice faded out. April tilted her head in sympathy, her brows were furrowed and her lips were jutting out. She turned to Splinter who shared a similar look, he waved his hands in a 'go-talk-to-them' motion.
"Hey, you ok?" April eventually asked after a blanket of silence enclosed the room, you sighed but slowly nodded your head, "Yeah," you all but whispered out. Another shared look. April placed the key down and walked over to you, offering you a warm smile, "Hey, I've known Leo for practically my entire life. He's going to come around, heck, he probably didn't mean it! He's always so into his own mind, maybe he didn't even realise what you said?"
"No, April. He knew exactly what I said, and yet, he still left. I know it was a shitty thing to do, to make him choose, but what else could I have done; he threw a katana at me, April. A katana!"
April shook her head in disapproval, even Splinter piped up, "Blue was wrong, there is no doubt about it. But I raised him better than this, whatever has come over him will fade. I only hope he realises this soon."
The room fizzled into a quiet atmosphere, the only sounds audible were that of the leaky pipes and honking from taxis above ground. You were all standing around the key, April had previously pulled up a whiteboard, simply titled 'Mission: Key Master' and began jotting down any ideas she could think of.
She then turned to you and Splinter, her hip jutting out, "C'mon guys, I can't be the only one coming up with good ideas...well, ideas."
"Magma!" Splinter shouted out, you shook your head, "No, no, what we need is acid."
"Acid? Are you kidding me?" Splinter laughed, "We need to up the ante, we need a black hole!" You and April both shared a look, "What about the toaster? It burns bread, why not a mystic, alien key?" April added.
"A wet punch!"
"A big hammer!"
"Katanas!"
"A jackhammer!"
"Lasers!"
"Have we seriously got no good ideas, like really a wet punch? You thought that would work?" (Y/N) glared at Splinter, "Hey, April said we needed ideas, she never clarified whether they had to be good!"
"Guys, guys, we gotta stop fighting, it'll get us nowhere." April chided, she rubbed her hands over her face, dragging her eyes as she glared at the key. You sighed, softening your shoulders, "You're right. I'm sorry Splints, I guess with everything happening I'm just...on edge."
"I believe I owe an apology to you too, I am sorry I raised my voice."
"See? Look what happens when we work together as a team, not fighting like some Z-list bad guys. Now c'mon, we're gonna figure this thing out even if it's the last thing I do!"
A red blaring light flashed haphazardly, illuminating everything in a warning sign. A loud siren bleeds through the air, invading your hearing which caused you to wince, "What's happening!" you cried out. One of the numerous monitors in the lair lit up with a camera feed displaying the secret entrance, and it looks like you had a few visitors.
"This cannot be good," Splinter sighed, "C'mon, we'll head to the garage! It'll be the easiest way outta here!" April rushed, pressing a bunch of buttons, presumably to slow down the Kraang. Before you left the room you swiped the key, fumbling to put it in April's backpack.
Eventually, though, you made it to the garage, thanking Donnie to high heaven that he made more vehicles than just the Turtle Tank. You saddled with April while Splinter took his own bike, Donnie had designed it specifically to fit his height requirements.
"Aprilllllll Ooooooo'Neil!" the girl in the green jacket yelled out, revving the engine before kicking off of the ground and zooming through the sewer tunnels. You clung on to her sides, your hair whipping against your cheeks as tears flooded your vision. You could faintly hear Splinter behind you as well as the onslaught of laughter and growls.
The bike skidded and swerved, occasionally you met the odd staircase and felt your insides bounce. April's backpack was slightly open and every time you hit a particular bump you could faintly see the key float in the air. Grabbing it with haste, you held it close to your chest, flinching away from whatever the Kraang were throwing at you.
"Faster!" Splinter yelled out, but it was hard to hear over the blood rushing through your ears, "Faster!" he cried again, now by your side. A large tentacle came crashing down against Splinter's bike, luckily he was no ordinary rat and jumped onto yours. The bike bounced backwards, igniting a large explosion, you could feel the faint heat burning your neck.
"Run while you can, insects! You can't escape!" the alien growled, whipping another tentacle against your bike; this time you weren't so lucky. The bike flew from under you, April rolled off to the side, Splinter was flung straight into a wall, and you were left gliding through the air until the rather uncomfortable ground caught you.
You were bound to feel that in the morning, that's if you'd make it to then. Although your gaze was fuzzy, you could see the key only meters away from you. Crawling towards it, you quickly caught sight of the Kraang charging towards the very same object. You moved quicker, gasping as your lungs burned and your ribs screamed. Your hand collapsed around the key, yanking it back towards you before April could pull you up onto your feet.
Your free hand clutched your chest, feeling immense pain and tightness. April grabbed your arm, tugging you as she ran away from the beast. You could hear it laughing as it crept closer and closer, it felt like a losing game of cat and mouse. The Kraang sister jumped at you both, flicking you into the air and landing on the hard train tracks of the abandoned subway. You gasped aloud, something definitely popped.
"Give me the key, human." the alien bellowed out, watching with yellow-tinted eyes as you clutched it closer to your chest. April was cowering beside you, panting. She drew her backpack in front of her, hoping the slight accessory would provide a little bit of protection. She rummaged around, her fingers grasping anything she could find and throwing it at the Kraang; though it did nothing to stop them.
The Kraang slammed itself against you both, one tentacle reaching out for the key while the other moved to crush April. You both screamed, holding the key in a death grip, it felt like this was the end. You'd never get to see Leo again, you'd never get to apologise, never get to tell him you loved him.
All of a sudden, April pulled out a glowing blue substance, throwing it with all her power at the Kraang. The creature immediately backed away, wailing and groaning in pain, it sounded almost human in the way its blood-curdling screams echoed.
"What did you do to me? What did you do to my face?" it shrieked, turning to you both with a fresh new hole where it's eye should have been. You and April released another scream, backing away as quickly as you could. A yellow glow emitted from the Kraangs eye, the sound of a bike getting closer and closer until Splinter pulled up with the same bike as before.
He pulled you up and onto the vehicle, sending you a worried glance at the way you hunched over. April smiled, her eyes full of hope as she pointed at the Kraang, "Ha! I knew that stuff was nasty!"
"Yes, yes, you're a genius! Now let's go!" Splinter hurried out, revving the engine once more and skidding down the tunnel leaving the bad guys in the dust.
Eventually light flooded your vision, you had made it to the surface, finally, you could breathe in fresh air no matter how hard it hurt. April tapped her communicator, calling for Donnie but there was barely an answer, just static.
"Donnie? Donnie, come in! They found us, where should we go? Donnie?" she tried once more. The static warped and morphed until voices came through, "We're trapped!" came his hectic voice. It came in waves, fading in and out, "We are zzt- trapped zzt- in the subway under zzzt- Metro Tower! We-zzt- ing- zzt- low power- nd-zzt- Kraang growth. Zzt- I repeat- zzzt - Apri-"
"APRIL, COME QUICK ZZT- WE'RE BEING ZZZT- SQUISHED!" Mikey's voice yelled out, Splinter put his foot down and the bike practically jumped at the increase.

Our Little Secret 🤫
“See baby you're my little secret If you don't tell, I won't tell And that's how we gotta keep it”
Warnings: Teen Content AU
“Sooooo what about him!” Viv points at one of the guys from the school newspaper. “Mmmm no I’m good he is not my type. Besides his name is Peter I think there is no way I’m going out with a Peter.” Viv rolls her eyes and scoffs. “MJ you are too picky there is no way you are going solo to homecoming for Senior Year!” Viv continues to scan the room until.
Eww she’s back?” Viv looks toward the cafeteria doors. “Who are you talking about Viv?” MJ follows her line of sight seeing Shuri Ukadu for the first time in months. “Ooop what a difference time makes. She looks good.” MJ looks down at the last girl in the group. Ri was not paying her any mind.
“No she does not. Are you blind? She’s still that ugly weirdo from freshman year.” Viv gives a disgusted growl. “Viv grow up…” MJ was cut off by Riri sighing.
“Why are you two even talking? I have a headache. It’s childish that you are people watching for dates anyway.” Rihanna Williams finally has had enough of her friends bickering. Pulling her head up from the table she is stunned. MJ was not lying, Shuri looked better than good. “Mmm ok” Ri tries her best to keep a neutral expression as she watches Shuri’s movements from the cheer table.
“See MJ Ri agrees.” Viv whines trying to prove her point. “Shut up Viv no she does not you just mad cause that’s Bae and you’re not.” Riri tunes them out, in all honestly Viv is being petty because of Ri and Shuri’s “friendship”. It’s been months since Shuri, who everyone calls AZ but only Rihanna knows why, has been seen on campus.
Despite that fact the pair spoke almost everyday in some form. Laying eyes on her, that was…different. Ri continued to watch her carefully.
“Shuri it is so good to have you back. I can only imagine how hard it’s been after losing your brother. I want to let you know your school community is here for you.” Shuri and the principal walk the corridor to the cafeteria. “Thank you Mr. Dunn my family and I have had to do so much to get to this point. Everything happened so fast. We miss him, but his final wish was I finish my senior year here.”
During Junior year AZ found her older brother T’Challa in the restroom throwing up. After rushing him to the hospital they found stage 5 cancer in his stomach. The battle was short but fought hard. He passed peacefully once his cancer became untreatable. He was laid to rest in their home land of Wakanda about 6 months ago. Shuri and Romanda stayed home to grieve. In that time life has changed dramatically for the Udaku family and Ri for that matter.
Walking through the door of the cafeteria she spots her homeboys Miles and Xavier. “Now Shuri we know your love of art and science are…” “Mr Dunn thank you again I will meet up with some friends now if that is ok.” Shuri cuts her principle off, wanting desperately to just see her boys. “Oh…ok well enjoy your lunch.” With a pat to the shoulder Mr Dunn walks off.
Greeting her boys she could not believe she was back. “Yo AZ! Wassup.” Miles greets her first with a hug. “AZ when did you touchdown?” Xavi shoots her a question as she settles down to chat. That’s when it happens she turns and their gazes lock. It takes her breath away.
There she was Rihanna Williams looking amazing. AZ has to play cool but she continues to glance over. How is it possible for Ri to look that different in 6 months? Or is it just her missing Ri?
Dapping up Xavi attempting to act normal she will deal with saying hello to Ri later. “AZ what is up yo! How have you been? How was it back home? The food, the places, the girls give us the rundown.” Xavi’s expression was priceless.
“Home was just what I needed. The food was bussin, the places were all exciting and you know I can’t answer that last one, Xavi.” Miles pops Xavi in the arm. “Right Brodie you know AZ’s girl is here.” He points behind him with his thumb at the cheer table. With a laugh Shuri calms the table.“Both of you need to chill. I loved home but it was time to get back. This is my year.”
Shuri and Riri’s eyes have met several times across the room and each time it’s like time stops. Soon a text comes in on her phone.
*buzz*The Princess❣️✨:Come Here.
“AZ we gone have a ball this year it’s senior homecom…” Xavi was talking so fast when Shuri tapped his shoulder he almost dropped his words. “Yo I am ready for it all but, I have to check y’all later.” Confused, Xavi looks at her defeated, but Miles was hip. “Alright AZ we see you. We all know Dr. Clement is ready to catch up with you.” Shuri shoots Miles a thanks and she heads for the door.
Shuri glances back one last time and Rihanna is already at the far end doors. Swiftly making an exit she text’s back.
*text*The Kween 🖤⚡️:Be there in 5.
Swiftly she heads for the older unused part of the building. Shuri grins ear to ear.
Their relationship is complicated to say the least. Rihanna Robin Williams head cheerleader and everyone’s sweetheart is not only popular but smart. Genius level smart that she tends to hide it. She only shows some of her talent to keep her grades up but not to it’s full so she keeps popularity. A shallow reality of high school. Freshman year was so great for her she made the cheer squad and gained so many “friends”. But one in particular stood out. What she didn’t bank on was falling in love with that one who stood out.
Shuri Azari Udaku the social outkast genius who if it was not high school she would be considered cool. She was a transfer from Africa, Wakanda to be more specific. As a freshman she was teased relentlessly. It was for her looks mostly but when the school sweetheart came into her life nothing else mattered. They bonded right away. The only thing is she never anticipated falling in love with her. She also never thought it would have to be a secretive relationship.
Opening the door to the dark art room no longer being used, Shuri drops her bag on the floor and locks the door behind her.
“Azari, this is a pleasant surprise. When was I going to be told you are back?”
“It was late Robin and you know it’s not like I can just call you up, after 10pm it’s a rule. Plus you sleep so light I didn’t want to wake you.”
Riri rolls her eyes at the silly rule. This town is a little “conservative” , to put it mildly. Ri’s step Pops plays right into the hype to a degree.
“You look good.” Riri moves closer, racking her eyes over the taller’s appearance up close. Her hair was now cut to a low fade, ears are pierced with studs and cuffs of gold. She has a gold grill on her bottom teeth. She’s in a blazer with slim cut trousers. It’s the school uniform with a flare.
“You look better.” Ri has her hair braided in a shorter style with two buns on the end. She has on a fitted uniform that follows her curves just enough. Her ears are pierced with small heart hoops and one cuff of gold. Her makeup is a natural beat that brings out her eyes in a way that they sparkle.
Shuri wraps her in a close hug with both hands around the small of her back. She is held there as they talk.
“Did you miss me or are frontin’ with one of your fans again?”
“I would never they are too needy. What about you was I missed?”
“So the Princess was able to avoid questions about her love life for 6 months. I’m impressed.”
“Gary just guessed I was focusing on studies. I told him losing a classmate was hard for me.”
“You and my brother were close so I am thankful that worked. Also I was away to grieve no one came to mind but you. So yes you were more than missed.
Ri places her hand on Shuri’s face.
“I wore white the day you told me to.” With a kiss to the inside of her palm Ri closed her eyes.
“Thank you nkosazana. That means a lot to me and Mother.” The girls have craved this intimate touch for months.
“How is she doing AZ?”
Riri rarely calls Shuri by the nickname she helped to spread during their Sophomore year. It was a part of Ri’s plan to stop the teasing. It worked but the root of the name comes from Azari. So Ri normally calls her by her full middle name not AZ. Shuri peaks her eyes at her before she speaks.
“Mother is doing better than expected. But I’ll be glad to tell her that you are doing ok. It will ease her mind. With her being home she wonders about you.”
Shuri’s family is forever grateful to Riri for befriending Shuri and for making their girl so happy. In fact it was T’Challa who pointed out that the relationship between Ri and AZ may grow to be more to his Mother. During the early times the girls genuinely didn’t know what was in store for them.
When it inevitably turned from friends, to best friends, to lovebirds they embraced the girls with open arms. They had boundaries but Riri would spend almost all her free time at Shuri’s over the years. This made her relationship with Romanda strong. As far as Ri was concerned Romanda is her Mother more so then her own.
Riri and Shuri have moved to the old couch that is stored in the art room. Comfortably lounging in Shuri’s lap the two continue to catch up. “Send her my love. Let her know I miss her. Also thank her for all the recipes. My sister loves her stewed chicken and plantain.” Riri laces her fingers in Shuri’s smiling small reminiscing about times she would be over to the Udaku home cooking and laughing. They would even cuddle family style to watch movies. The memory warms her heart.
“Is she the only one you have love for?” Riri turns over to face Shuri laying on her chest. Snapping her out of her thoughts.
“What kind of statement is that to make?” AZ is smirking as she lowers her hands to Riri’s behind. Ri’s blood is runner hotter under the familiar touch.
“I mean it has been months since you’ve said it. We all know I need reassurance. One can get bored in that time.” Ri leans placing kisses to Shuri’s neck causing her pulse to quicken under Ri’s lips. Ri also bites there ever so softly to not leave a mark. The taller girl hums out a moan.
“Don’t you ever question me on that again. Azari. I love you more than you even know.” With a smile Shuri felt proud having gotten the reaction she wanted. She bends her neck some to steal a kiss on the waiting lips below her. Riri smiles as their lips are pressed against one another. Thinking of how to make this moment last, Ri mumbles.
“Come to my place tonight. I sleep much better with you there.” Moving a few inches away to speak more clearly, Shuri is confused. “Umntwana I never will question you on loving me, but may I pose this question. How do you suggest that happens? Your parents would not prefer me to be at their home.”
The reality is that’s true. Sneaking around is a necessary evil. Not only is the school uptight about “same sex” relationships. Rihanna’s parents have this thing about her image. So while they claim they are not homophobic, they think Shuri may not be the right “type” to hang with too long. Someone may get the “wrong impression.” This is why over the months they could only speak on the phone seldomly and their text conversations had to be neutral. They have some encrypted apps but it was too much of a hassle.
It is honestly backwards how her parents think. They had no problems until Shuri cut her hair. That was close to a year ago when T’Challa first got sick. AZ wanted to wear an undercut with a curly top similar to that of her brother. This started them making small comments here and there which Riri resented. She would stand up for Shuri. So they took certain privileges away because of her “attitude.” No phone calls after 10pm with anyone. No house guests unless it was a group and the most outrageous one is no going to dances with another girl. Not even a friend date. That rule came after she went with AZ to Junior homecoming and the rumor was all a buzz.
Little did Riri know her parents had a “conversation” with Romanda around that same time about keeping Shuri away from Rihanna. They didn’t want folks to think that Riri is gay. If only they knew they had been girlfriends close to 8 months by that point.
Riri pouts knowing Shuri will do whatever she wants because of it. “Not that house, the new one.” With a chuckle Shuri nods “You mean my place with my Oomakazi.” Ri smirks, “Yep.” She grins, kissing Shuri again but a little deeper. Sitting up she straddles AZ wanting to be closer and runs her fingers over the low cut. AZ has a firm grip on Ri’s body; her strong hands seem to be all over the place at once. After kissing until the need of air is required they pull back.
“Anywhere I am is yours too is what you’re saying?” AZ says smoothly. “Duh Baby. With you is the only place that feels like home.” Opening her eyes, Shuri looks at the sincerity in Riri’s face. She means it. “We just need a story for your folks.” Shuri smiles small soaking in the image of the girl in front of her. “I’ll make MJ cover me. She knows how miserable I have been without you.” “Ok well I have your location, leave your car there I can pick you up and I’ll drop you back in the am.”
Lunch is now over but they both don’t have any afternoon classes so they stay cuddled on the couch for an hour longer.
*text* Big Ri ❣️:MJ do me a favor and come to art.
*text* Mich the Donn❄️: 🤔 Art huh? I’ll be there in 10min.
*text* Big Ri❣️:😇 thank you.
In less than 10 min MJ knocks before she reaches for the key above the door. Letting herself in she locks it back and walks to the couch. Plopping down on the other end she is not phased by the couple cuddled up.
“Well aren’t you two just as sweet. Wassup AZ?” MJ greets the pair in a nonchalant manner. “MJ it’s good to see you and nothing much just here with your best friend.” MJ has a faint smile when looking at them. “Yea the Princess missed you, something awful. Been moody and all.” They poke fun at Riri’s expense but it’s true.
Ri was a mess those first few weeks. Crying non stop, never wanting to come out of her room. She had to put up a front for her parents so she would go to cheer and school “happy.” But everyday was hard. Ri’s Aunt Sharon even got concerned. She would text Riri everyday checking on her. Even pulled her out of school for “lunch breaks” and made the principal vow to not tell.
MJ was also right by her side at school and over the summer. She helped her navigate everything. Ri’s parents would not have taken kindly to what was really wrong. So more hiding had to happen.
MJ is cool with AZ so they would talk during that time. AZ wanted updates on how Riri REALLY was. Eventually Ri would just be honest with AZ but it took a few times of being called out.
“How many days is she staying at my place this time?” MJ finds humor in being aware of what is going on. “That is up to the Princess. But the normal I’ll get her tonight and drop her in the am.” Ri rolls her eyes as they talk like she is not even there. “You two love this don’t you? I am in the room you know.” This causes them to erupt into laughter. Riri is now pouting again. AZ kisses the poked out lip.
“Mm siyaxolisa Baby. But me and MJ could not help it.” MJ interjects “Right I’m sorry girl that’s just how our convos would sound. So old habits.” MJ grinned playfully. Ri kept a straight face.
“Ok ok I know that face. Question? Did you two sell your app yet?” The subject change was drastic but it made sense. The only people in the school who are this close to the couple are MJ, Miles and sometimes Xavi. They are true friends and think it’s so dope these two love each other and relate the way they do. They help them keep things low.
The last convo MJ had with them was about an app idea they were coding together. It is a new AI code that could be placed on different communication devices. Functions of the AI include but are not limited to monitoring the users vitals, being able to do advanced commands per request and actively learn the users habits. Back home in Shuri’s country they use these bracelets instead of cellphones called kimoyo beads. They programmed the AI into the bracelet and the test was a success.
When she went home Shuri held a meeting with the government’s design group and pitched the idea. The group immediately accepted the concept and allowed both Rihanna and Shuri to stay on as consultants for all upgrades to the AI. The contract is worth Millions.
“In a way, my government has retained the AI code to be used on all communication devices and Kimoyo Beads.” Shuri answers. “Wait so you mean that thing now has y’all’s app on it.” MJ points to Shuri's set of beads on her wrist. Riri shakes her head yes and commands Griot to wake up. “Griot please play on speaker AZ’s top played song of the week.” “At once Princess.” Cupid by 112 starts playing in the room. It’s kind of their song. “Y’all are sick.” MJ quips. “Griot please pause music.” “At once AZ.”
“That’s amazing I can’t believe you pulled it off the super genesises.” Looking at the time on her beads AZ got up. Riri whined as she was moved off of AZ’s lap. “Thanks MJ but it’s dismissal soon. I am going to cut out to not make it obvious. Go home and pack. I'll see you later on.” AZ is cupping Ri’s face and kisses her pouting lips one more time. Making it to the exit.
Ri throws her body over and lays on MJ’s leg. “Friend you are down bad. You are going to have to marry her soon as you turn 18.” Ri blushes and laughs at the statement but sometimes the thought crosses her mind. To be honest all kinds of thoughts cross her mind of what the future holds for them.
“That’s 6 months away MJ and this sneaking is getting old. It was fun at first but I don’t know. I want to have her walk me to first period and all the corny high school sweetheart stuff. Is that too much to ask.” Ri holds her hands on her face. MJ listens to her friend rant. “It’s only too much to ask for HERE. Otherwise no it’s not I’m sorry friend.” MJ holds her head.
“This place is so trash. Everyone is the same narrow minded hippocrates. The adults and the students. Like did you see Viv today? She was pissing me off. What is her issue?” MJ instantly gets mad.
“Same I get that she likes you and all but today was too much.” Riri looks then sits up frustrated. She laughs right after.
“MJ you are a fool. That girl does not like me like that, at least I hope not. She’s not my type and she’s way too “it girlish” . She has one more time to say something about my Baby or I’m putting her in her place.”
“Woah woah don’t hurt nobody killa. You know I’m just talking mess. But she does have an odd obsession like she wants to be you or something.” MJ looks at Riri with a pointed look. “Idk I just need her to know how overprotective I am of that one.” MJ hops up and pulls Ri up next. “Most people know how overprotective you are. Just keep doing what you've been doing. Keep the enemy closest.” MJ throws her arm over Riri’s shoulders and walks them out the art room.
The bell is ringing as they head out of the school. Almost like bad magic Viv is close behind them. “Oh my god! Where were you guys? The weirdo came into free gym and you all left me hanging.” Ri and MJ both roll their eyes at the dramatic tone.
Viv is an interesting person. She and Riri have been frenemies for years. So naturally that makes her loathe Shuri because of how close they are and she was one of the many who took the teasing too far. Ri literally lets her be around to keep an eye on her but today she’s working her patience.
Ri narrows her eyes and tenses up. As they continue to walk. “She came in looking more like a little boy than normal. So cocky like she’s not the same nerd from freshman year.” It was almost like Viv could not help herself. “Viv need I remind you to stop talking down on AZ. She just lost her brother and you are just being a shitty child about her being back at school.” MJ joins in on the read.
“It’s almost like you are obsessed with the girl. The way you are watching her and just trying to convince us how bad she is. Something is not right with that.” Viv looks as if she is going to throw up. “I am not being a child!” A smug smile plays on Riri’s face. Viv deserves this. “Well then what do you call the insulting and petty comments for no reason. It’s not like she has done anything to you. So what is the problem you have with her Viviannn?” Viv scoffs and storms off. She didn’t want to admit out loud her issue.
High-fiving the girls are now by the cars and Riri gives MJ a ride to her house. As she is driving, Shuri gives her a call. “Hey Baby you’re on speaker.” Riri is such a sucker her smile is almost permanent now that Shuri is back.
“Ok that's fine. Yo MJ. I just need to know why my wifey’s skin always glows in the sun.” “That’s because of the melanin and Daddy is home so there is that.”
Riri feels a rush, this is what she wants. To love her girlfriend out loud for whoever to hear and see. Within reason of course but the sneaking around is old and tired. “Do you two have any manners?” Miles’ voice boomed on the car phone speaker. Pulling Ri out of her bliss.
“No we do not Miles we can’t help how we show love.” AZ is feeling the same way. She hides only because of the threat by Riri’s parents. Romanda informed her of their “meeting” almost as soon as it happened. But if it were up to her AZ she would shout how much she loves Ri everyday. Shuri loves public displays of affection. Her family is that way. Hugs, kisses, gestures, gifts, holding hands she wants it all. But she finds balance in knowing Riri will not be cut off from her family. While they are not super supportive they are her blood.
“Right brother you know I have been away for months I got to make sure wifey is taken care of in every way.” Shuri smirks devilish as the words ooze from her mouth. They have some talking to do about some MAJOR things considering she will be 18 in 6 months but for now they just want to flirt over the phone. “Ugh you know what I was gone ask could I come chill tonight but I may pass.” MJ huffs playing sick at the couple’s antics. “I was gone say the same MJ but I feel you.” Miles seconds the motion.
“You two hush.” Ri is laughing and so is Shuri. “Daddy, what do you think?” “They can come, my Aunts will be glad to see you all. As a matter of fact. Griot.” “Yes AZ?” “Please add Okoye to this call.” “At once AZ”
The line chimes as they wait on her answer. Okoye is Shuri’s Aunt but is like her oldest sister. Romanda raised Okoye as if she was her own child rather than as a sibling, so their family bond has always been so unique. When word about T’Challa got to Okoye she was in Chicago in less than 24 hours. She dotes on Shuri like no other because of her being so smart and being teased. She is just committed to her family. When it came time for Shuri to make the choice to return to Baxter, Okoye proposed that she be Shuri’s guardian. Romanda agreed with no hesitation.
“Shuriiiii what is it now Usisi.” Okoye's warm tone fills the speakers. “Sista you love me don’t just assume I want something.” Everyone stays quiet but snicker at AZ poking fun at Okoye. “You are correct but I know who you are. Also hello Rihanna it has been too long.” Okoye clocks Ri on the phone.
“Hey Auntie” Riri shouts once her cover is blown. “Ri I hope this means you are coming by the house tonight. We can have your favorite.” Okoye knows Riri well and she smiles being able to hear her voice. The Williams family are one of Okoye’s many enemies. She does not understand how one can place a child as bright and beautiful as Ri in a situation like they have. She has to be miserable all because they don’t see loving another woman as “right”.
Okoye combats that by being in her corner 100% and spoils her a bit. “Ayeee! Yes Auntie I will see you soon. And thank you. I’m thankful someone loves me.” “Yes we will have to catch up nkosazana. You know I love you the most.” AZ huffs. “Ahhh no no we are not doing this tonight. My Princess knows I love her and Auntie I know you love her more but please do not throw it in my face.” The conversation is cut short when Riri pulls up to her family house.
“I will speak with you all soon thanks for the cheer advice.” Sandra Rihanna’s Mother comes to the car as the line hangs up. With a sickeningly pleasant smile like the Stepford wives her Mother greets her. “Daughter, how was your day? Michelle, it's so wonderful to see you.” Ri steps out of her car with MJ not far behind and they enter into the kitchen.
“It was nice Mom. I got a surprise visit from a coach today. She seemed very interested in me joining their team at Brown.” MJ says hi and just listens. This was not a lie but it was not the highlight of her day. “Brown is a good option! But Harvard is our place isn’t it?” Ri shines a coy smile. She honestly could go anywhere, which she wants to go to Howard an HBCU. “Harvard is on the table but I just want to keep my options open. You know that Mother. Is Gary home?” Moving into the home some more, all three ladies are in sync. “He is at a church meeting. He won't be home until the morning. It is a lock in.”
That is perfect. Gary can’t veto her going to “MJ’s”. Ri is now holding a water bottle and MJ is silently observing. “Oh that’s so nice. So I have a question to ask, can I go to MJ’s for the long weekend? The Brown coach wanted to see some clean highlight footage. Since it’s Friday of fall break, I would love to be able to go over there and get some polished footage.” Riri’s poker face was solid. This weekend could NOT be derailed. Her Mother gives a calculated look. “Michelle who will be with you all?” MJ perks up. She didn’t want to have to talk at all. Riri’s Mom gives her the heebie geebies. “My Mom and Brother will be home. He is home from college so he will be in his room the full time.”
Sandra’s ears perk up. She has pushed the idea of MJ’s brother and Riri for about 2 years now. This was going to be a great motivator. Riri was so happy she pinched MJ excitedly. “Oooh ok so Micheal is home?” Ri played things up knowing full well even if he was home Mike is going to be with his girlfriend. Adding a mischievous smile her actual thoughts are of AZ. “Well yes you may go Rihanna and stay all fall break. Don’t worry about your Father, I will make sure he does not get bent out of shape. This is for your future.”
Grinning, Ri hugs her Mom “EEEE thank you thank you. I will be working on the footage most of the week so I’ll show you when I’m home. You are the best.” Riri’s Mom beams. “And tell Mike I said hello.” The comment goes unanswered as the girls sprint upstairs to pack. They lock the door and turn on music to cover the sounds of their conversation. “Michelle Jordan Jones! You genius, adding your brother into the mix. That was the icing on the cake. How did you think of that?” MJ laughed. “Honestly he is home I just told the truth but I did know she loves the idea of y’all making babies. I don’t think I have seen parents more obsessed with having their teenage daughter pregnant than yours.” Riri is looking in the closet for an array of things. She mostly wants to have nice clothes so they can go on dates. She will steal any and everything to lounge in from Shuri. She loves to wear her clothes. Her parents have no idea who they belong to so it’s the one win she has.
“MJ honestly if they could do that or have me marry a guy tomorrow they would so that I don’t “give the wrong impression.” It’s very sad to see how far she will go. I want to bet you something.” MJ looks up as she hears Ri. She takes a glance at the little black dress she has in her hand. “What’s the bet? Side note what is this dress it’s 2ins.” A smirk plays on the short one's face. “I bet she gives me condoms. 20 bucks. And shhh don’t worry about it it goes with this.” Holding up a matching Savage Fenty set. “Oooh girl ok then what are you trying to do? Have you and AZ ever?” A flush comes across her face. “No she wants to wait. We get close and she just holds back. I’m ok with it but sometimes, I have take that cold shower.” MJ smiles and shakes her head. “AZ is a good one yo like it’s no pressure huh? Or are you trying to be a demon?” This make them both giggle
*text* The Kween 🖤⚡️:Two things. One it’s been 2 hours I miss you come on home already!❣️Two Auntie says y’all are doing a spa night tomorrow so bring your robe. (Also bring that other thing I like 😏)
A text comes in from AZ before Ri can answer. Riri stares at her phone. This is new. The convos have to stay tame on the phone because of random checks.
*text* The Princess❣️✨:Hold your horses Please. I’m going to have all your faves. 😈 We’ll be there in 45 mins.
“Ok I definitely can’t be single the rest of this school year.” MJ huffs. “My bad girl, she texted and look at this. I don’t want to be a demon because it would be both our first times but she tests me. I think she wants it to be as special as it can be. So we decided on my 18th.” Once she packs the last thing Riri flops on the bed. MJ looks at her form above. “That sounds so romantic Yo. It’s on brand for who AZ actually is. The soft sweetheart that sings you to sleep on recordings.” Ri breathes out recalling all the sweet gestures she gets from AZ in seacret. AZ also never compromises on being thoughtful. Like the recording of Ri's favorite lullabies/soft songs which help her sleep at night. Or the hand crafted jewelry that AZ makes for her which she wears everyday like her ear cuff and necklace.
“MJ, all of it is great but I wish it could be seen. Like do you know how annoying it is to have boys drooling over me and I can’t even say I’m dating anyone let alone say I have a girlfriend.” Ri is a little saddened now. “Ri you have to just have hold on a little longer. You will be 18 soon and you can do a full photoshoot with Shuri and post it in the school if you want. Now let’s go. I'm trying to have stew chicken and sweet plantain please.” They cut the music and get up to go
*text* The Princess❣️✨:New location from Kimoyo Necklace.
Shuri opens her text alert. It's a bit primitive but for now until the official launch of Griot in 6 months this will have to due. She is going to upgrade Riri to a full set of beads and update her necklace. “Miles let’s go get the girls.”
Miles looks up from the big screen in the small sitting area of AZ’s new room. The house she and Okoye are in is a mansion so they both have master suites. When they came in she cleaned and cleaned the room to be spotless. She changed the bedding to a black and purple cotton silk blend and she went to the target to get all her Love’s fave toiletries, snacks and some random matching pjs. Shuri is a gift giver and likes displays of affection. So their relationship is torture. It burns her to not be able to shower Riri with everything her heart desires even if it's just holding hands as they walk to class. Rihanna never asks for much, but the hiding kills them both. But Shuri CAN NOT allow her to be disowned by her family not before 18. 6 months and counting.
“AZ! Yo where do you drift off too? I said what is your deal for homecoming you riding solo as normal?” Shuri frowned; she knew that Ri would HAVE to have some chucklehead date in order to even leave the house. She may just do like last year and pay a dude off to dress completely mismatched from Ri and take photos. Then hand her off at the school. “I don’t know man it’s in a few weeks I am more set on the end of the year stuff you know.” Miles nods. “I hate that our school is so lame I bet they would not even trip so much if it was not for close minded parents.” Shuri tilted the wheel some to make a turn focused on her GPS. “Man I don’t know but I want to get Riri to 18 and we can do what we want.” AZ points a finger gun in the direction of the sky.
“I hear you man I do cause y’all never even you know have you.” AZ looks over for a brief second as she stops at a rare red light. “Nope not yet I hold back cause I want it to be more special then fumbling around at home. Idk what I envision but it’s not that.” The sincerity in her voice is so sweet. “You are a good one Azari.” They pull up to MJ’s but Shuri screeches to a stop. “Don’t call me that Yo!” Miles laughs as he is hit. “Yo yo I wanted to see if I could pronounce it sheesh. Stop.” Just as they stop horse playing Riri and Michelle come out of the house. Mike, her brother, is with them.
Hopping out of her Lexus truck AZ hugs her Baby with a small kiss to her cheek and then takes her bag. Dapping up Mike they all exchange some hellos. Mike was always a good dude. He was in the class with T’Challa so he looked out for them all as a big bro. “AZ can’t believe they let you back through customs.” With a grin. “You know what, I almost didn’t make it. They flagged me for having too much phone activity from your girl.” The joke made Mike chuckle. Looking down at Riri who is tucked under Shuri’s left arm, Mike clocks her look. “Naw that can’t be true cause if it was you’d be dead.” Tipping his head to Ri AZ kisses her face whispering in her ear. “You never got to worry she white not my thing.” Riri does not stop her and just soaks in the kisses.
“Get a room you two sheesh.” MJ walks past to get in the car. AZ says goodbye to Mike with a promise to link up. Miles hops in the back because the seat literally has Princess embroidered on the headrest in Xhosa. So her seat is secure. They lace their fingers together as the drive commences. “Ok so my Mom knows I’m out and won’t be back she likes you AZ so we good.” AZ nods glancing in the rear view. “Cool at least someone likes me. One is a start.”
Ri is stoic but thinking. Her family being against anything LGBTQ is a huge hurdle for her but young love makes you feel invincible. She could care less if they approved what was the worst they would do. Kick her out? Disown her? That’s all things she does not care about if she can be with Shuri. “Baby Sharon likes you, she thinks you are adorable.” AZ takes Ri’s hand and kisses the back. “I know she likes me and she is so wonderful to you. I know I will meet her soon yes?” “That you do.” The short drive is over and all 4 young people pile out of the car. Like magnets AZ and Ri are holding hands as she walks her into the house.
“The new place is huge Baby what in the world!” AZ smiles. “Yea it’s a lot of square feet to fill. But me and Auntie won’t be here alone. Her besties Ayo and Aneka are coming to stay with us for a while after the hard launch of Griot. Mother will remain home with Nakia. Of course you can be here whenever, however long you want.” Riri loves the sound of that she blushes looking into Shuri’s eyes. Wrapping her arms around the taller girl loosely. “So when I move here in 6 months the invitation is still open?” AZ looks at her and raises her eyebrows. “A closet is already clear for you my Love.” Ri smiles as AZ falls back onto the couch in the living room joining Miles and MJ.
“Ri your Mother and Father would die if you did that.” “Let them I would no longer be in need of them. I will have my own money and a place to be. The countdown is on.” Okoye comes into the room with snacks smiling. “Still so brave, I like it. How are you Princes?” Riri jumps up to hug Okoye, pulling her into a very warm embrace. Riri feels so much love. This is truly her family. “Ahhh I have missed you, the only person I want to see now is Mother.” “Well when you have your passport you will be able to come to Wakanda with us to see her. You will love Wakanda, the landscape and technology will blow your mind. You may even find your wedding destination.” Okoye winks and smiles, letting Riri go and heads back to the kitchen.
This is the second wedding/marriage hint today, if it happens a third time there may be a need for a discussion. Ri sits back down cuddling into AZ’s lap. She wants to stay like this forever. “Princess, you coming to Wakanda will be at the top of our list of things to do. I think Mother would hold you hostage for the first 3 whole days.” Laughter erupts from everyone. “AZ could we come along?” Miles chimes in. “After the launch of our company we could set something up which would allow you and MJ access to travel vias. Wakanda is very strict about who is allowed into the country. Borders were completely closed for all foreign travel until about 15 years ago.” MJ looks and listens with intent. “Our culture is to be very reserved and guarded. Wakanda is a very advanced nation with great resources. Our country never wants for any of them to be exploited.” Okoye adds the reasons for the country's precautions.
“Azari, so how do I have a visa already?” AZ smiles. “Mother petitioned on your behalf for a research visa two years ago. It was granted and now that you are a partner on the Griot you will be able to have full citizenship.” AZ says with pride, Ri blushes in response. “Wait a minute! So the Princess is not only the head cheerleader and super genius she is going to be Wakandan too!? Miles chimed in jokenly. The night went on well and AZ took MJ and Miles home just before 10pm. Ri was alone in the bathroom when her girlfriend returned.
“Baby is that you?” Ri calls out with a smile as she tied her hair up with the silk scarf Shuri left for her in the mirror. “Yes my love I see you found all your items. I got all your favorites.” AZ hugs Ri from behind, kissing her on the neck. Their height difference is so adorable. “I am going to need them because I am staying all week.” AZ’s face lights up, picking Ri up to kiss her on the lips. “You are kidding! How did you get a full week away from the house?” Ri is loving the attention. She answers with a smile. “Well MJ mentioned her brother was home and Mom offered for me to stay the entire week. I jumped at the suggestion. You have no idea how much I have missed you.” Kissing Shuri again Rihanna made the kiss longer with more passion. AZ walked with Riri in her arms to the bed and laid her down as they kept kissing. AZ moved to bite gently at her loved neck being careful to not leave any crazy marks. Ri moans out as she grips onto AZ not wanting to let her go. *kiss* “Ndiyakuthanda nkosazana. ugqibelele” *kiss* The two made out for sometime before AZ needed to take a shower. “Baby you are taking so long.” Shouting from the other room AZ laughed. “Yes but I need to smell good.” Coming out of the bathroom in the matching pjs AZ got into bed on her side and Ri instantly cuddles up into her arms.
“Can I tell you something? I don’t mind your smell unshowered, even a little sweat is fine.” Laughing both girls can’t believe Ri just admitted that. “That is true love sheesh. How did I get so lucky?” Ri traces invisible lines on AZ’s chest as they cuddle. “To be honest I’m the lucky one Azari. I have you and a second family who love me for me not some image. You all are my real life.” AZ was quite a moment Ri sometimes knew exactly how to take her breath away. (It was all the time.) Placing her hand on Ri’s cheek AZ looked her in her eyes and smiled. “This is the life we will live forever with love and freedom. I promise you that Rihanna Robin.” They kiss and soon drift to sleep. Both had not had a peaceful sleep in so long because they needed each other.

Summary: Y/N looks up to Jensen a lot, so when he yells at her out of nowhere one day on set, she's heartbroken.
Warnings/Explicit 18+: TW for very brief mention of emotional parental abuse.
Pairings: No romantic pairing. Jensen Ackles x teen!reader
Word Count: 2,257
A/N: I got the following request from @kayyay1219:
So I was thinking about another Jensen x teen!reader where Jensen has a really bad day on set and takes it out on the reader and makes her cry. So she goes to Jared for comfort and Jared yells at Jensen and makes him realize what he did. So Jensen goes to her house and try’s to make it right by apologizing and a movie night and cuddling. Just a whole lot of angst and fluff. Reader age:14-15 Thank you!❤️
Thank you so much for this request! Sorry it took me a while, hope it's what you were looking for! 💓
A/N 2: In this story, Jensen mentions being separated from his wife and some custody troubles. I want to take this chance to reiterate, as I always do, that this story is about a Jensen from a different part of the multiverse and in NO WAY reflects anything to do with his real life, and beautiful family. This is a complete and utter work of fiction. 😊

"Jesus! What's the matter with you, Dude?" Jared's massive frame barely fit through Jensen's trailer door as he barged through it.
Jensen already knew why Jared was pissed, and he didn't want to talk about it. "Not now, man." He said quietly. "I'm not in the mood."
"Well, too fucking bad." Jared huffed. "You know, Y/N was so upset she had to go home. That kid has worked through the flu, and the chicken pox. She never misses work, they have to practically drag her from set when she's done for the day, but today she just didn't have it in her to go on."
Jensen rolled his eyes, trying to tamp down the guilt that was threatening to overwhelm him. "Look, I know that you've known Y/N way longer than I have, since she was just a little kid, but she's a teenager now, and fifteen year old girls are notoriously overdramatic."
Jared nodded, pushing his tongue into his cheek, trying to speak calmly. "M'kay, well, she was crying her eyes out when she came to my trailer. Said you screamed at her."
Jensen clenched his jaw. "I didn't scream. I may have raised my voice a little. She wasn't being safe with the prop knife."
Jared frowned. "The rubber knife?"
"Yeah, she was tossing it end over end, and catching it. She was gonna hurt herself, or someone else."
Jared scoffed. "Are you kidding me? We fuck around with those things all the time."
Jensen scowled. "We've been at this a lot longer than her. And we're better coordinated."
Jared snorted with disbelief. "We're really not." He shook his head. "So, did you ask her to stop?”
Jensen shrugged.  “Yes, I asked her, and she just got all moody about it."
Jared crossed his arms. "Did you ask her calmly, or did you yell at her over something trivial and hurt her feelings? Cause I gotta say, it's not like Y/N to get pouty over something small.”
When Jensen didn’t answer, Jared shook his head in frustration. “You know she looks up to you like a dad. And the last fucking thing she needs is another asshole dad that treats her like shit."
"What are you talking about?” Jensen asked with a scowl. “I didn't think her dad was in the picture." The guilt was roaring through him now, eating away at his gut.
Jared threw his hands up. "Well not anymore he isn't. Cause when she was a little kid, he was her manager too, and he was shitty at both jobs. He overworked her all the time, forced into roles and scenes she wasn't comfortable with, and CONSTANTLY yelled at her about everything."
Jared started ticking things off on his fingers. "Yelled at her for not trying hard enough, constantly told her her acting was shitty and they were gonna fire her. He put so much shit on her shoulders, yelled at her that they weren't going to be able to afford to send her little brother and sister to college cause she got rejected for a role. He was an extreme bastard. Which is why he isn't in her life now. She got herself emancipated from him earlier this year. She’s living with an elderly aunt now."
Jensen felt a sickening mixture of rage at Y/N's father and aching guilt at himself, and it made him drop his head into his hands. “I didn’t know any of that. Fuck.” He said quietly.
Jared sat down on the couch, beside his best friend, calmer now and looking for an explanation.
"What happened man? It's not like you to lose your shit, especially not at work, and especially, especially not with a kid."
Jensen ran his hand over his face and spoke quietly, barely above a whisper. "She's taking the kids." He said, looking up at Jared, devastation evident in his gaze. "She swore…when she left, she swore we'd split everything with the kids fifty-fifty. Equal time. But now she wants them full time, says she'll let me take them every second weekend. Told me her lawyer was drawing up the papers."
Jared felt tears well up at the heartbreak in Jensen's voice. He knew how much his brother loved his babies. It was absolutely awful to imagine him being without them.
"I'm so sorry, man. She won't get full custody though, right? I mean, you're an amazing dad. That wouldn't be fair."
Jensen just shrugged. "I don't know. She says I'm gone too much, working, that I wouldn't be able to care for them properly." He scrubbed his fingers through the scruff that covered his cheeks. "I don't know, maybe she's right."
"Bullshit!" Jared spit out. "You've been sharing them with her, equal time, since she buggered off six months ago to live with that asshat. And you've managed to care for them, give them security and happiness all this time, right? So, what’s changed? Other than the fact that her lawyer wants to go for more child support."
Jared slapped Jensen's chest with a massive hand. "You're gonna win, buddy, I swear. The Universe would never be that cruel to such a deserving father."
Jensen just grunted non-committally, wondering if he was as deserving as Jared was claiming, especially considering the way he's acted with Y/N today.
Jensen slapped Jared on the back in gratitude. "Thanks man, I appreciate that. But right now, I've got a devastated kid that I need to go cheer up and apologize to."
Jared nodded.  “Good idea, brother."

“I’ve got it, Auntie June!” Y/N called out as she ran to answer the doorbell.
“Okay!” June called back, continuing with her game of bridge in the den. Y/N heard the four women burst into laughter together, and the sound made her smile. At least someone was having a good day.
She pulled open the door and lost her smile. Jensen stood on the other side, hands behind his back. He held a bag that she could see swinging back and forth from his clasped hands.
“Hey kiddo.” He said with a soft smile.
Y/N tried not to show her hurt, giving the ghost of a smile back. She needed to work with him, after all, and she probably needed to keep their relationship more professional than she had been.
She’d warmed to Jensen quickly when she’d started on the show earlier that year. He was warm and kind, caring and supportive; in short, he was everything her own father had never been and she’d found herself envious of his three beautiful children. How lucky they were to have a father like him. She’d started to see him as her own father figure, going to him for advice and leaning on him as a mentor.
But she’d been foolish to let herself see him that way. He wasn’t her father, he already had kids of his own, and he didn’t need some clingy ragamuffin kid hanging around him all the time. No wonder he was getting sick of her, and no wonder he yelled at her so abruptly and angrily this morning.
She had to let go of the dream.
Now, she tried to widen her smile so she could keep their working relationship on good terms. “Hey, what’s up?”
Jensen looked at the ground before looking back at her. “I wanted to come tell you…I owe you an apology. I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”
Y/N shook her head. “Don’t worry about it.” She tried to shrug it off, worried she’d start crying again if she thought about it too much. She’d never seen him act that way with anyone on set, he was always so calm, quiet even, sometimes. He had to really be annoyed with her to react that way.
“I shouldn’t have been messing around with the knife. You were right.”
Jensen shook his head. “No, I really, really wasn’t. There was no excuse for the way I acted. Sure, I was a little worried - even though they’re prop knives they’ve got some weight to them and could do some damage. But I should have said just that to you. I never should have yelled at you like that. Aside from it being completely unprofessional, it was a dickish thing to do to a kid as fantastic as you. I’m really sorry.”
Y/N shrugged again, looking down and kicking at the door jamb with the toe of her sneaker. “It’s fine, really.”
Jensen took hold of her hand. “Jared…I hope it’s okay, Jared told me a bit about your past with your father, and how rough and abrasive he was with you. I never meant to bring any of that up for you.”
As she’d feared it would, talking about it brought thick, hot tears to her eyes and Y/N kept her head lowered, hoping Jensen wouldn’t notice them. But he did notice and he clicked his tongue at them.
“Tsk, Y/N, sweetheart, come here. I’m so sorry.” He pulled her into his embrace and held her tightly in the circle of his arms while she cried all the tears she’d been trying to hold in. Tears that said how hurt she’d been, how embarrassed by Jensen’s roughness, how much it had scared her to hear another man she’d come to love and look up to, yelling at her, seemingly over nothing.
But as Jensen held her and rocked her gently side to side, his apology ringing in her ears, she realized just how different he was from her real father. With him, it had always been her apologizing; he would never admit when he was wrong, because in his mind, he never was. The fault was always to be laid at her feet. The fact that Jensen was taking the simple but entirely different position of admitting he’d been in the wrong, and trying to make amends for it, proved to her that she hadn’t been mistaken about him.
She pulled back from him and wiped her eyes. “Sorry about that. I really appreciate you apologizing, seriously. It makes all the difference. And really, it’s okay. Mostly, it just shocked me because it was so unlike you.”
With her own hurt behind her, something occurred to her – maybe his outburst hadn’t been about her after all. She knew he was dealing with a separation from his wife and becoming a newly single father, maybe something was wrong there.
She frowned at him. “It was really, really unlike you. Is there anything you wanna talk about?”
Jensen smiled kindly, if a little sadly, and squeezed her wrist. “That’s really sweet of you, kiddo. But it’s just family stuff I’m dealing with, rough couple days that’s all.”
Before Y/N could ask for specifics, he brightened his smile and continued in a much happier tone.  “But I thought of something super fun we could do tonight, provided that you were very nice and forgave me!”
He pulled the bag from behind his back, and Y/N could see it was stuffed with snacks. “Movie night!” He shouted excitedly.
“You said a while ago that there were a bunch of 80s movies you’d never seen that you really wanted to. So, I brought a ton of snacks and I thought we could order in pizza, hunker down with two or three classic 80s movies and I could impart all of my 80s kid wisdom to you!”
Y/N giggled, thrilled beyond belief at the sound of that plan. “Sure, we’ve got the living room all to ourselves because my Auntie June has her friends over this evening playing bridge in the den. So, if you don’t mind the occasional sounds of raucous and occasionally arguing sixty year olds, come on in!” Y/N said, stepping back from the doorway.
Jensen laughed. “That sounds perfect.”
***
Two and a half hours later, Y/N was once again weeping uncontrollably on Jensen’s shoulder. But this time it was the fault of an adorably ugly little alien leaving Elliot behind and going home. Jensen kissed the top of her head and chuckled, slightly exasperated as he turned off ET.
“Wow, these movies were supposed to be fun, not make you cry your eyes out.”
Y/N laughed shakily, her nose stuffy. “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect the creepy little guy with his creepy long neck, and creepy long fingers to grow on me so much!” She said, and took advantage of her position to give Jensen a giant hug.
“And this is so much fun. I’m having a blast.” She was suddenly a little shy, but she wanted to tell him something important so she spoke quickly before she chickened out.
“I want you to know how much I appreciate you taking me under your wing the way you have, and being so kind and supportive, being like…well, being like the kind of dad I never had. It means so much to me to know that some men really are great people and good fathers really do exist.”
Jensen was blushing a little when she looked at him, and his eyes looked a little watery, surprising Y/N. He smiled at her and chucked her chin.
“Thanks kid, I needed to hear that very much today. So thanks.”  Y/N hugged him again, grateful when his arms wrapped her up tight, not holding back an ounce of affection.
Finally they pulled apart and Jensen cleared his throat before throwing her a blinding smile. “Okay, we gotta get these warm fuzzy feelings under control, meaning that we absolutely have to watch Die Hard next.”
Y/N giggled. “Definitely.”

Warning - mentions of blood, death, and injuries
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿
Simon smiled at you and continued to follow you to the house. When you got to the house, you dropped the wood near the deer, Simon gently sat the wood he was carrying down where you put the wood. You quickly walked back inside and grabbed your bag.
"Y/N, what are you doing?"
"Oh, um.. I.."
You didn't know what to tell her, you didn't want to excite her too much to where she runs outside, you didn't want her to see the dead deer.
"Just boring stuff, don't worry about it.."
"Can I come?"
"Uh.. No, stay here, you'll have more fun inside"
You smiled at her and walked outside, Simon looked at you. He was a little confused about what you were doing. You sat your bag down and pulled out a big piece of cloth. It had red stains all over it.
"Go inside and talk to Marcy.. make sure she doesn't come outside."
You ordered Simon as you sat down the cloth near the deer and bent down in front of it. You pulled your knife out from your pocket and started to butcher the deer. Simon stood there for a moment. He was shocked at how you could do something like that so easily.
"Simon.. What are you doing?"
You huffed as you looked up at him. You were starting to get frustrated with him again. You didn't like being watched while you did this because you didn't know if you'd cry or not. No matter how many times you did this, you always felt guilty.
"Oh right, sorry.."
He quickly rushed into the house to talk to Marceline. You let out a sigh and looked up at the deer's lifeless face.
"I'm sorry.. but I gotta eat..."
You felt tears form in your eyes, you sniffled a bit.
"You're too soft, kid!"
You smiled when you heard your dad's voice in your head.
"Y.. Yeah.. I know.."
"Hey, kid! Do you wanna help me with something?"
"Yes! Yes!"
You said excitedly, and your father smiled at you. He started to walk away, you followed closely behind.
"Follow me, you're butchering your first pig, I think you're old enough now.. you're ten, right?"
"W-What?"
You stopped and looked up at him.
"Don't look at me like that, kiddo.. that's how we get bacon.. it's something we need to do"
He continued to walk, and you hesitated before following him again. He took you to your kitchen and handed you a large butcher knife. It was too big for your tiny hands to hold comfortably.
"Wait here, I'll get the pig.."
Your dad patted your sholder and left. You looked at the knife, trying to see if you could hold it correctly. Your dad gently put down a pig's lifeless body on the table in front of you. He started to tell you what to do, and you begrudgingly followed his directions. You paused and started to cry when you were halfway done.
"I'm killing it!"
You whined and threw the knife on the table. Your dad let out a soft chuckle and ruffled your hair.
"No, the pig was already dead.. it's alright, it doesn't feel a thing.."
"Why.. why did it die?"
"It was just it's time.. and when pigs go, this is what we do."
"Why?"
"Because if we didn't, we'd have to bury it and make sure animals wouldn't dig up the grave.. wolfs are pretty persistent.."
You sniffled a little bit, and your dad took the knife off the table, continuing to butcher the pig.
"Animals eat each other. That's how life works. If we don't eat this pig, a wolf might...... or other pigs, they don't care what they eat"
Your dad let out a soft chuckle and continued to speak.
"Life's rough, and people got to eat. You can't live off of random plants you find off ground!"
You let out a sigh as you finished with the deer, you looked down at yourself, you were covered in blood.
"Yeah.. dad.. Life's really, really rough..."
You mumbled and wiped your knife on your shirt before putting it in your pocket. You sighed and looked at the butchered deer. You stood up, wiping the blood from your face. You looked at the cloth you sat down earlier and looked all the meat you'd gotten off of the deer.
"That.. might last for a while.."
You sighed thinking about how there were two other people that you had to feed now. You dragged the deer away into the forest, so if Marceline wanted to come out, she could. You dug around in your bag and grabbed a new shirt, changing out the bloody one. Thankfully, your pants were dark enough that the blood wasn't visible. You sat back down on the ground and started to set up a campfire so you could cook the meat. Marceline ran out of the house, giggling. Simon ran after her, trying to get her back in the house.
"Marceline! Wait!"
He sounded tired and stressed.
You looked over at the two. You smiled at Marceline as she ran towards you. She tackled you and put her arms around you.
"Y/N! What were you doing? It was taking forever!"
Simon let out a sigh of relief when he saw that you were done and had already gotten rid of the deer. He looked over at the pile of meat.
"Oh, I was getting some food.. I'm going to cook it, then I'm going to let it dry.."
You patted her head.
She quickly got off of you looking at the meat.
"You got all that?"
"Yeah, do you think it's going to be enough?"
She put her hands on her hips and tilted her head. Her actions made you smile and she looked back at you.
"It should be!"
"Good...."
You looked at the pile of meat. You weren't too sure if it would be enough. You smiled and quickly looked over at her.
"Hey Marcy, do you want me to teach you how to make a fire?"
"Fire?!"
She nodded quickly. She looked excited for you to teach her. You could hear Simon make a nervous sounding noise.
"Uh.. Y/N that's not really safe.."
"It is if you're careful.."
You said as your smile faded from your face, you didn't like him trying to tell you what you could and couldn't do.
"I'll be careful! Please Simon, can they teach me?!"
She looked at him with big eyes, begging him to let you teach her. Simon tried to say no to her but couldn't. He let out a sigh and gave her a defeated look.
"Alright.. I trust Y/N.."
You let out a chuckle at his words, not fully believing him, grabbing your bag, putting out a lighter.
"Ok, Marcy.. you can't make a fire with a lighter alone.. we'll need paper and small sticks"
She nodded and quickly looked around.
"I'll go get it!"
You smiled at her as she quickly ran off.

Against All

Pairing: Hailey Upton x Single Father! Former FBI profiler! OC! Kristoff "Kris" Aller
Summary:
Nine corpses, nine burnt buildings, nine victims --- no connections.
The Intelligence unit of District 21st had been unable to find anything. All the clues were dead ends, all the people murdered were different - there was no pattern, no connection.
The only thing in common in all the cases: the modus operandi.
More murders were happening as the unit remained stagnant -- the cases were increasing, and they weren't getting any closer to having even one suspect.
Voight had no choice: he called the most efficient criminal profiler that he knew - who had also left the Bureau after a terrible event.
Kris Aller didn't want to go back, he didn't want to look a monster in the eye ever again, not after what had happened to his daughters.
But the sergeant needed him. This case - all the murders - were linked to the tragedy of his life. A tragedy that Hank couldn't avoid.
A tragedy that only Hailey Upton would understand --- and uncover.
Chapter One: Benjamin Cooper
— God, I hate this song — the teenager complained in a grunt. Even though she was sitting in the passenger seat, she could hear the younger girl singing from the back. — Can you tell her to shut up?
— No way. — The man driving replied quickly. — Amber's expressing herself, I can't tell her off for that.
— So tell her to express herself with another song! I swear to God if I hear — the girl on the back sang loudly: I was good she was hot — Argh! — The teen grunted. — I gave up. My ears will bleed forever.
— Blackhawks won yesterday, let her cheer. — He looked at the girl by his side, worry present in his semblance. — Is there something—
— Billy's here! — Amber shouted, making both the man and the teenager flinch. He stopped the car.— Papa, can I go? Please, I need to talk to him—
— At least she stopped singing.
— I heard that, Tess! — He stared hardly at the older girl before turning to the other. — Yes, you can, Amber, but behave in class, ok?
— Thank you! — She freed herself from the belt, kissed and hugged her father, and held the door of the car. — Bye, papa. Bye, Tessa. See ya later! — she dropped off and ran into the school. Her shirt of the Chicago Blackhawks got the attention of some girls around but she didn't mind.
They watched the little girl go as they waited inside the car in complete silence.
— Oh, no. — Tess suddenly spoke. — Mother Alert, we gotta go.
A woman appeared on the horizon: it was too late, she had reached the car and was already asking for the teen to lower the window.
— you're a terrible getaway pilot. — she mouthed to the man before rolling down the glass and allowing the woman to come even closer.
— Kris! How good to see you! — the woman screamed.
— Hello, Margaret. — only Tess could tell his smile was fake. — How are you?
— Oh, dear, I'm suffering because of you! — Tess widened and moved away from the window. Being between the two now should be her punishment for complaining. — My boys won't stop asking for your pretzels! My house is a mess.
— I'm sorry to hear that. You haven't tried the recipe yet? — Kris kept his hand on the wheels. He wanted to leave as much as Tess did.
— I have, but I don't have the magic hands you do, dear! Would you like to stop by tomorrow and teach the boys how to make it? I think it's the only way to calm them down.
— Oh, no, I wouldn't like to bother you. — One of Kris' hands fell to the gearbox. — I'll bring some more to their training, don't worry. — the car started to move. — Sorry, I gotta go. See ya!
The woman was left behind in sidewalk as both Kris and Tess started to breathe easily again.
— Was she smelling? — Tess asked.
— Don't be mean. It was just some cologne...I guess.
— It's paradoxal, you know. The mothers love a single dad but are crazy to make you no longer single.
— This is the conversation you want to have right now?
Tess' smile faded away. Kris wouldn't miss a thing, would he?
— I don't want to talk about it.
— Okay.
— It's just silly stuff from school.
— If it's bothering you, then it's not silly — he started, and Tess finished the sentence with him, her voice was filled with impatience and discomfort.
— I know, I know. — she sighed. — Still, I don't feel like talking right now.
— Sure. — Kris kept driving. — Do you want to get some ice cream?
— I have class.
— It's okay, we have time. — He turned the wheel to the right and started to look for an ice cream parlor. They arrived at a commercial street very quickly. — Here it is.
— It can't be open.
— It is! — he parked without any problem. At this time in the morning, no one was driving or passing by a street like that, but, thankfully, the parlors and cafeterias were open — still empty, but open.
— So, — he turned off the car. — ice cream?
— I hate when you do this
Kris smiled.
— you hate many things but you love ice cream, don't you?
— yes.
— So let's go.
Kris made her smile — well, she was smirking but it counted —, and they approached the parlor with joy.
The man was about to crack a joke when a man showed up by the empty street corner.
Kris' steps slowed down, recognizing him immediately. He, however, didn't allow Tess to have the chance to look at the other man.
— Tessa. — He turned her over to him. — I'll be right after you, ok? Here, get the one you want. — Tessa noted something was wrong, but she obeyed and walked over to the parlor, keeping distance from the other man.
As she reached the shop, Kris waited for the man to come closer.
— Sergeant Voight. — Kris spoke with a tense voice. He already knew what this was all about. He knew what he was going to ask. That's why he didn't take any of Voight's calls. — How can I help you?
— You know how. — Voight was holding a file. — I need a profiling, off the books.
— The feds would be happy to help you with this.
— No. — Hank stepped closer, — they can't know. We still don't know the length of this and...
— Maybe one of them can be involved. — Kris grunted under his breath. He looked away and remained in silence for many minutes.
— We've got 9 victims so far. — Hank would say whatever he needed to convince the man. — It's a clear M.O but we cannot predict too much besides that. My team and I—
— Okay. — Kris spoke suddenly. This time, when he looked back at the Sargent, his eyes shone discreetly. — I'm in. — His look jumped to the girl in the parlor, now appreciating her ice cream. — With one condition. My daughters have to be safe , no matter what.
— Nothing will happen to them. — Voight handed him the file. — I already spoke with your boss, he said he'll take care of the center until you're done helping us.
Kris laughed.
— You're a step ahead, as always. — Kris walked away from the Sargent. — See you there.
Voight nodded and left.
And Tess was watching everything when Kris finally came to the parlor.
— You're getting back, aren't you? — Tess sounded suspicious. Her hands were squeezing the bowl of ice cream with strength.
— You don't have to worry about it. — Kris said, helding one of her hands in an attempt to calm her down. Her expression slowly softened. — I made sure you and Amber we'll be safe and... — He showed a mischievous smile. — you have your own high school drama to live now, forget about me.
Tess rolled her eyes at his words.
— I'm not telling you anything.
— Yeah? I doubt it. I think you will come up with five profiles by next week.
— God, you make me sound creepy.
Kris laughed proudly and loudly.
— What can I say? It's our family thing.
X
Arriving at the police station would never be discreet: as soon as Kris left his car, half a dozen officers turned to him. Some smiled, some widened their eyes, but the loudest of all was Ruzek, who cheered and shouted as he came closer.
— Can't believe you're here, man — Adam hugged Kris and tapped his back. — I always thought you'd come back
— Hold on, I'm not back — "yet", Adam whispered, interrupting Kris while they walked to the unit floor — Voight asked for help and that's it. Don't get too excited.
— I'm not, but Kim will be. She's been curious about you since Myk and Amber started playing together.
— But she already knows me… — Kris was confused, he couldn't understand the reason behind Adam's excitement in time
— But she doesn't know ‘Bishop’! — Kris grunted in distress — It's good to have you back, Bishop
Adam walked away laughing as they came upstairs and met with the rest of the unit. Voight, Upton, Torres, Burgess and Atwater stared at Kris immediately.
— Team, that's Aller, former FBI profiler. — Voight introduced him — He’s going to help us with this case, so bring him up to date.
The man nodded respectfully and came closer as Torres stepped in and showed him the board.
— We have 9 corpses, 9 places and 9 crime scenes. All of these men were killed between 9 p.m to 3 a.m, with chains and inner burns.
Inner? Kris frowned at the words and stared attentively at the photos.
— They were cooked. — Kim explained with a choked voice. — Tortured during the whole night. We can’t get why, we don’t have any suspects…We don’t even have images. Only the bodies.
— And we don’t have much more of them, either…They had to be identified by their dental arch.
— It’s cruel. — Kevin said.
— It’s personal. — Kris spoke. — The victims had any enemies in common?
— No one. Nothing, to be honest. — Adam approached the board with the photos of the victims. — Different jobs, different homes, different colors and ages…But the same way of death.
Silence took over the room. Again, confusion and tension paired in the air as the new member of the unit stared at all the data, and all the other members watched him. He was totally still, eyes frozen on one name on the board.
— Benjamin Cooper. — Adam broke the silence with anxiety, pointing at the name that Kris so determinedly looked at. — No criminal record, but he testify years ago in—
— I know him. — Kris cut him off, and his eyes finally moved: his gaze landed on Voight. His expression, even though still as before, focused on the sergeant for too long. — He’s the reason why I’m here.
Voight looked away: the discomfort made him move around the room as Hailey watched them both suspiciously.
— Why do you mean? — Kim inquired.
— I…I worked on the case he testified in. — Aller explained. — Thanks to him…it all went wrong.
— I want you to talk with his family. — Voight demanded. — They know something, but didn’t tell us anything. They’ll talk to you.
Kris crossed his arms over his chest. He didn’t take long to agree with the sergeant.
— Is this a pattern? — He asked before walking away from the board. — The other victims were involved in the case too?
— No. None of them had ever testified. — Torres replied.
— Cooper was a dead loss, the testimony was the only thing that could get him killed. — Kris went on. — He might be our connection.
— You heard him. Investigate the man, make a timeline of the night he was murdered, discover every single contact of his and find a connection. Every little detail can be important. — Voight gave the orders as he followed Kris.
They were about to walk downstairs when a strong voice stopped them.
— If Benjamin was a ‘dead loss’ as you said — Upton spoke up — why waste our time on him? The killer might act again tonight and we have to—
— Do we have any better leads? — Voight’s voice was sharp, his reaction was abrupt and harsh. His voice would grow louder if Kris hadn’t held him. — What? — He screamed at Aller.
— Calm down.
— I am perfectly calm for this case, Kristoff, but I cannot bear to see another dead body because of him .
Kris’ expression went dark. He bended over Voight.
— You’re not thinking straight….— Kris whispered. — Stay here. Remember what we talked about. I’m going to talk with the Coopers.
Voight walked back to the unit floor, and, before going into his office, he ordered again:
— Upton, you go with him.
She opened her mouth to protest, but Hank had already shut the door close.
Hailey picked up her coat and walked away with Kris, in complete silence.
They went downstairs and passed by Platt's balcony with a quiet goodbye. Even though the Sergeant clearly tried to talk with Kris, the man walked across the entrance and ignored all her glances.
Again, Hailey watched his behavior in silence and kept her way to the car.
— I'm sorry about Voight. — Kris said before getting closer to the passenger side. — This case is…. complicated to him.
They got into the car and Hailey asked:
— Yet, he won't tell us anything about it.
— It's a confidential case. — He argued.
— So confidential that you think everyone involved in it's a target. — She started the car.
— You need a connection. That might be it.
— Is this your profile? Or just a guess?
Kris responded with a snort.
— You're better off without knowing much about this case, believe me. — He shrugged in his seat. — Are we going to the Coopers or not?
Hailey grunted and drove away from the police station.
X
The house of the last members of the Cooper family was simple and humble. The garden looked abandoned, the grass was tall and the fence was almost completely broken. The car parked in the open garage was lowered, with empty tires and cracked windows.
They did not look simply poor — they looked like they had given up on life itself.
— I think it’s better if you stay here. — Kris spoke before Hailey could exit the car. Luckily or not, she froze for a second, giving him time to leave and walk over to the house.
After collecting herself, Upton got out of the car and ran after him.
— Excuse me? — She grabbed his arm and made him turn to her. — Who do you think you are?
— Look, don’t make this personal. Just — He cut her off before she could argue back — Just look around. They won’t talk to you.
— But to you they will? You're as arrogant as any shrink who's never been in the streets.
Kris watched her speak in silence: with his hands in his hips, he only waited for the woman to be done.
She stopped talking very quickly — after all, it was useless to say anything to his blank, strained expression — and the man enjoyed the silence of the street before finally replying:
— They will talk to me because they know me. — He stepped back. — Now, if you excuse me…
Ignoring his arguments, Hailey followed Aller close behind. He didn’t utter another word to her, and finally knocked on the house’s door.
— Anna? — Kris called. — It’s Kristoff. Can we talk?
Unlike the reception Upton and Voight received a few days ago, the woman answered him quickly and promptly. Her eyes were widened when she opened the door, but she frowned at Hailey. Anna’s face dropped, and she muttered to Kris a few words.
Kris signed to Hailey and they both followed the woman into the house.
— Can I see Benjamin's room?
— She already did — Anna replied before Upton could — They took all his gadgets and notebooks.
— I know. — Kris smiled gently. — I just want to check one thing up
Anna stared at him for too long — her gaze was heavy, not suspicious, but, somehow, sad. It carried so much guilt that she eventually showed him the room.
— I'm waiting in the kitchen. — she told them before opening the door of Benjamin's bedroom.
Kris stepped in as Anna walked away.
— As she told you, we already searched in here. You won't find anything useful.
— Maybe not. — Kris replied with a whisper, his whole being focused on analyzing the room. The walls were empty, and so was the bed and the dressers. — Looks like a prison cell.
— Or he was just minimalist. — Hailey argued. — Cooper's never been in jail.
— Yes. — Aller came closer to a drawer. — But he also had three records for criminal harassment. He was a stalker. — Kris wandered through the drawer and collected a few flyers. — Here it is.
— What?
— Our connection.
He didn't give Hailey time to question — Aller stormed out the room and came to Anna.
— Thank you for your help, Anna — He held out his hand to her. — We're already leaving.
The woman shook his hand and blinked slowly, as if gathering courage to say something.
— I have to tell you something. — Anna admitted.
Hailey saw Kris' expression drop — he stepped back and prepared to leave right away.
— You'd already told everything you needed. — He tried to be polite, but Hailey purposely stood in his way. He stomped on the detective and was obligated to stop.
— I did thank you. — Anna came closer, but Aller didn't look her in the eye. — But I never apologized for leaving you there. I shouldn't—
— It's okay. — He cut her off. — You don't have to. It's already gone. I don't resent you.
He smiled at her for a brief moment — only enough time to make her feel forgiven and understood.
Then he shook his head and left the house after saying a quiet goodbye.
Hailey stood there without understanding much — where was 'there'? What was Anna talking about? why would she thank him?
Upton followed him keenly — she wasn't going to stay in the dark again.
The way to the police station was silent: the tension stretched the air, making the atmosphere too heavy to even breathe. Kris shifted in his seat, his eyes were either moving to the window or to the driver's side. Hailey, on the other hand, kept her gaze on the streets.
When they parked and got out of the car, Platt was already waiting for them — for him.
The look that the Sargent gave Hailey showed her why the garage was completely empty. Trudy was furious.
— Have you gone mad? — She stomped over to Aller, and the man stepped back immediately. — What are you even—
— I guess your best ability is pissing the sargents off. — Hailey’s smile dropped as soon as Platt's gaze landed on her.
Kris spoke before Trudy could shout.
— This isn't the best place to talk about this. — He made Platt look at him again. — And you don't have to worry about it. — He held the sergeant's shoulders. — No one does. No one knows.
— Voight shouldn't have called you. You shouldn't be involved in any of this—
— Trudy, please— His eyes, shining with exasperation, turned to Upton for a brief second. — Don't—
— You can't help him! — She screamed.
And Hailey was watching and listening to everything. Maybe the whole station was.
— I can. — Kris' voice was still low, stable. Serene, the complete opposite of his face. — I will. Please, you—
— Aren't you thinking about your girls? How can you? He did—what he did was monstrous! — Platt would not stop. She could not stop. — He spanked you.
— I know. — Kris whispered as his arms involved the older woman. She was trembling under his hands.
— He raped you. — Platt sobbed, her tears were falling nonstop. — And you're being used again, you're ruining your life again for what? For him?
— I'm going to be fine, Trudy. I can do it.
— Voight's using you. — She pleaded again: — You can't—
— It's okay. — He hugged her tighter. — It's okay.
They stayed in the garage until the Sargent was able to stop crying. Until she was able to stop trembling.
And Hailey stayed there too.
She now had — at least a few — answers for all her questions about him.

Chap 6/?
(Double update today!)
Previous chapter:
Jodie couldn’t sleep at all, lying on his side, wings folded behind him, the tip of his tail repeatedly tapping the bed.
He was completely restless. Talking with Glenn had gone better than he expected, but still… his warning had made him uneasy.
Sure he liked Scam… but did he trust him?
He didn’t think he could honestly answer yes…
By morning he’d only gotten two hours of sleep, every minute of his dream spent back on the couch with Scam. He climbs out of bed, showers ,dresses and gets breakfast, knowing better than to expect Scam at the breakfast table this time, he leaves Scam’s dish on the table and heads back to his office to try and get some work done so they could go out later.
Out with his boyfriend…
Jodie buries his face in his hands. He hadn’t been out on a date in…. Over a decade at least… and Hell’s date spots were limited to say the least… with the Doodler on earth it wasn’t exactly like he could take him there… it felt just a bit fucked up to be worrying about date spots when the other daddies and the kids were off trying to find a solution in the forgotten realms…. Should he call someone and ask for advice? Glenn and Ron were really the only two that knew…
He calls Glenn again.
“What’s up?”
“Did you meet up with everyone else?”
“Yeah yeah, we’re good man. You want to check in with Nicky?”
“Yeah, can I talk to you a bit first?… is it Uh, a bit fucked up that I’m taking time to date right now when you guys are trying to save Earth?”
“Yeah a little bit but…” Glenn sighs “man, everybody deserves love, no one’s going tell you not to try for it if you think there’s a chance… besides, we’re doing fine! We’ll probably have this Doodler thing solved in a couple more months…”
“Yeah… okay… look it’s been a while since I went out… I stopped doing date nights after Nicolas turned five…what’s a good-… what do I-“
“Okay okay, here’s the move, you gotta impress him! what are you good at?”
“Paperwork, killing, maiming…” Jodie Frowns.
“So like cop shit. Damn, you really are screwed aren’t you? I’m guessing you don’t want to just bone down, you probably want that sensitive style dating…”
“It’s called taking it slow idiot… but yeah… I…absolutely have to take it slow with him….shit Glenn he’s a really good kisser, I’ve never felt so out of control in my life…”
“Gross…”
“I mean, that too…but I lost control of my flames and nearly set him on fire…”
“Well fuck, man I don’t know… maybe like set up something romantic? Chicks love candles so maybe he will too? Henry is bi, you should ask him how to romance guys…” he calls Henry over “Hey Henry, come help this idiot”
“Hey Jodie! How’s h-e-double hockey sticks? Jodie says you need help? I don’t know if I can help but I’ll give it my best shot!”
“Hey Henry, uh look I, can you keep this from the kids? I started seeing someone new… and I’m a little rusty on romance…”
“Oh Sure buddy! Mercedes and I do date night weekly, and I don’t mean to toot my own horn but I think they’re pretty darn romantic! What’s your new beau like? You know, A lot of romance is showing the person how well you know them”
“He uh, he’s clever, and he loves games… and stirring things up… he always dresses nice… his favorite movie is Hero… he smells like axe …” he smiles “he’s fun…“
“He likes games and stirring things up…and he smells like axe body spray?” Henry pieces it together pretty easily “Jodie… are you sure dating this guy is a good idea?”
“What..because of the axe? It’s not that bad, it kinda smells nice after a while…”
“No because it’s…” Henry whispers “Scam Actually?” He sighs “I know he’s mellowed out a bit, but I mean…you know what? No. you’re a grown guy, you can make your own decisions, and most of his pranks didn’t actually put any of us in real danger…I’ll support you! So …… you need ideas on how to romance him? ….Does he eat?”
“He ate yesterday? I don’t think he needs to though….? I think he might have been serious about feeding on misery”
“Well there ya go! There’s a lot of that down in Heck now isn’t there? Why not treat him to a misery buffet? He’d probably love that kind of thing!”
“Yeah I think you’re right… but is that romantic enough?”
“Probably? If you’re looking to tell how he feels about you why don’t you ask? A little emotional honesty is good for a starting relationship!”
“Henry I can’t do that!” He wasn’t ready at all for that kind of talk.
“Okay well you know, some people find that hard and that’s okay! there’s another way to get at least an Idea of what’s in his heart, it’s like that song by Cher says ‘it’s in his kiss’! So when you get to that point, you’ll probably be able to feel his emotions by how passionate it is!”
Jodie turns a brighter red “Henry I’ve kissed him twice…”
“Is it insensitive if I ask how that went? I’m sorry if it is, I’m just super curious!”
“It … was the best kiss of my life… he left me breathless twice… I can’t tell what his emotions were through a kiss like that Henry, I barely kept control of myself” He rubs his face with both his hands “it’s embarrassing….”
“With… with Scam? I mean I guess I can see that?… he’s pretty charismatic? He’s not…not good looking? How did it happen?” Henry sounded hesitant to say the least
“During truth or dare…and then once after he confessed…”
“You willingly played truth or dare with him?! Jodie is that safe? You remember last time-“
“I know but it was… it was fun Henry, I actually had a pretty good time…he didn’t make me do anything I didn’t already want to… “
“You guys are probably a better match then I thought… I wouldn’t have been brave enough to play another game of it with him that’s for sure…”
“I’m glad I did it.”
“Look Jodie, I know we said it was going to be a week, but the plan failed and we could really use him back, he’s actually a pretty good asset in fights…”
“yeah… okay” Shit, he’d been banking on having him stay the week.
“We can do without him for today, it’ll probably be fine…so maybe if you sent him back tomorrow morning?”
“Yeah…thanks Henry… can you put Nicky on the phone?”
“Yeah sure buddy… sorry for, you know..”
“It’s fine, priorities, I get it…”
He felt guilty now for wanting to spend more time with Scam. He could hear the phone getting passed off.
“Hey dad.”
“How was it? Are you alright?”
“You worry too much… I’m fine! We had to take out two giants because Henry blew our cover and then Glenn and Ron got separated from us. We should have sent you Henry to watch, he’s so bad at lying.” He laughs.
“Yeah Henry is a pretty bad liar” he smiles but then realizes that the pretty bad liar knows what’s up with him and Scam so it’s only matter of time before everyone knows.
“How’s it going with Glenn?”
“Good actually…”
“I know it’s probably a bit difficult remembering two different-“
“Dad I’m fine. We’ve talked about this I’m not you.”
“Okay…but you know if you want a break-“
“I don’t want to go stay with mom. I want to help my friends.”
“Alright Nicky.”
“How was babysitting Scam?”
It was an innocent question but Jodie felt instantly embarrassed. “Pretty good actually, we had a fun time.”
“He’s kinda fun I guess. He hasn’t messed with you?” He laughs
“No, nothing too bad, he took off for a bit and had me looking through repeating rooms for an hour or so last night but that’s about the worst of it”
“Weird….hey uh It looks like Ron’s about to fill us in on last night so I gotta go… see you Dad.”
“Love you, stay safe.”
The phone clicks and Jodie puts it back down on his desk, he leans back in his chair and closes his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. Shit, there goes his week… and it didn’t sound like Nicky and Glenn were coming back any time soon either.
He felt so guilty for wishing Scam could just stay…At least they had today…
He leaves his office and heads down the hall to look for Scam.
———
Scam had admittedly taken some things for granted. One of them had been the (apparently inaccurate) freedom to roam Jodie’s castle. He’d decided to take a walk after Jodie said Goodnight to relax, and said walk had led him past some really interesting looking doors, Interesting enough that stopping infront of them got him chased out of the hallway by guards.
Which is exactly when he’d got it in his head that breaking and entering was probably a great way to blow off steam. Jodie had forbidden him from using magic with his dare and he wasn’t going to break the rules of a game so he’d have to do it the old fashioned way.
By the look of the absolutely massive golden doors this was probably the treasury, which meant it wasn’t going to be easy to get in and out unnoticed. This also meant it had the potential to be very very fun.
He waits around the corner taking inventory of what he had on hand. He couldn’t change himself or summon other items without magic so this was a rather serious test of skill for him. He’d have to thank Jodie for such a fun evening in the morning.
He hums to himself, pulling on some fingerless gloves, fashion was the first step in any plan after all. He laments the fact that he’d have to stay in his burnt suit for this but there was no getting around it without magic, his entire wardrobe was tied up in glamor magic so he was sure it would definitely count as a spell if he used it. He reaches into his pouch and tosses a vial of alchemical sleep gas around the corner at the guards, waiting for a moment for it to kick in.
Once he heard the telltale thump of both guards hitting the floor he rounds the corner and pulls out thieves tools, getting to work on the lock, popping it easily. Feeling emboldened by how easy this was so far, he decides to add a bit of flourish to his ‘just go in and out’ plan, maybe he’d just take a single thing and give it back to Jodie in the morning as a souvenir of his little caper. He hops over a few obvious traps and heads straight for a crown set on a pedestal in the center of the room. Perfection! He could just imagine the look on Jodie’s face when he drops his treasured crown into his lap, he’d have to be impressed! His grin widens and he grabs the crown.
Which didn’t feel like a crown at all. Instead the metal instantly liquified, fusing to the pedestal and trapping Scams hand between the two.
“Uh oh~ This isn’t a very good look~”, recognizing that he was effectively trapped there, he just poses for the drama of it. It took less than a few seconds for a dozen or so guards to find him like that.
It didn’t quite hit Scam how much trouble he was actually in until His magic did not work when dawn hit. Unable to just teleport out of the cell they’d put him in, panic starts to set in, though he’d never show it on the surface. The dungeon was probably packed to the brim with magic cancelling items. “Hey Mr. Guard?~ yoo hoo, I need a little help over here~ you see this bar is a little loose, and if I were to move it I could just slip out~ and you wouldn’t want that would you?”
He waits for the guard to get close and keeps him distracted with the ‘not actually loose’ iron bar while he uses his tail to carefully remove the keys from the guards belt. He needed to get out of here and fast.
“I should have expected something like this.” Jodie descends the stone steps opposite Scam’s cell and frowns, looking exhausted and hurt.
Scam tenses, dropping the keys. He needed to play this off, so he backs away from the guard and leans against the bars, he laughs, trying to look sexy and unaffected by his own predicament. “fancy meeting you here~ do you come here often?”
It wasn’t working. Jodie’s frown deepens “I thought you didn’t care about money”
“Oh not at all, it’s pointless for someone like me~” He grins and reaches through the bars reaching for Jodie’s hand “you know me so well~ I knew you wouldn’t misunder-“
“Then why did you try and rob me last night? They literally caught you red handed…” Jodie pulls his hand away.
“Well Actually, They literally caught me Gold handed! I only broke in to see if I could and , what do you know, I was able to get in without any magic at all! Out not so much~ if I had been a bit less eager to surprise you it would have been fine~ It was all just a game! ” he was starting to get nervous now… Jodie was supposed to understand…
Jodie’s expression wasn’t softening. “How much of it was a game?”
“If I told you it was just the teensy bit of B&E would you even believe me?~ I think you have some wrong ideas about what I’d joke about~ you wound me Jodie!” He clasps his hands over his chest “How can I prove to you that you can trust little old Me~?”
“You’re in a cell Scam. I think it’s pretty clear I can’t.” Jodie sighs and turns to a guard. “Let him go. He’s leaving anyway.”
Scam’s expression drops “I thought we had a date planned?”
“Look around you Scam. Really take it in and ask yourself why you think that would possibly still happen?”
“You wouldn’t have been mad if I had pulled it off~ you would have even found it charming!” He steps around the guard who unlocked his cell, moving towards Jodie.
“Maybe, but How am I supposed to trust that you’re even telling me the truth about your plan?” Jodie still frowns but his expression does soften a bit. He stops making eye contact, focusing on the far wall instead of Scam’s visibly disappointed face. “Look, just…go okay?…they’re done with being undercover…and the date is off…so there’s no reason for you to hang around.” He opens a portal for Scam.
“I see.” He doesn’t try to defend himself any further, he steps through the portal and heads back to the Daddies.

"Seriously, Virgil. I do not understand her odd obsession with hiding my things."
Virgil hummed in acknowledgment, tossing the watch that Polaris had dropped in his lap back to Logan. "I don't know either, dude. She's just playing."
"Well her 'playing' is going to make me late for class."
"Don't be dramatic, L. It's Friday, your class doesn't start for an hour, and you've never missed a class in your life. Even if you were late, one time won't ruin everything."
Frustration aside, Logan smiled as Virgil held his own bracelet above Polaris' head, lifting it slightly higher every time she jumped to grab it.
These moments were nice. These small, domestic moments that proved they were indeed soulmates, amatonormativity be damned.
As he watched Virgil play with the fox, his eyes landed on the crystal hanging from his neck.
"You're wearing rose quartz," Logan noted, teasingly, smiling as Virgil's blush shone through his foundation. "You have a date tonight, don't you?"
"Oh shut it…"
"Nonsense, I'm just curious. Remus isn't it?" He thought back to the week prior, when Virgil had come home at night multiple times only to immediately collapse onto the couch, mumbling about something that Remus had said to him that day.
Virgil rolled his eyes, putting his bracelet back on and pulling Polaris into his lap. "…Yeah."
"I imagine you're just as nervous as ever."
"Actually, I don't think I am," Virgil said,  laughing lightly when Logan looked at him doubtfully.
"Oh? Not that I'm unhappy for you, but that is unusual."
"Yeah well," He shrugged. "Remus isn't a serious person, I don't need to be nervous around him. It's like with you, ya know?"
Logan scoffed. "I absolutely do not know. I am a serious person. All the time. It's a very large part of my personality."
"Oh right, strictly serious Logan. Who was definitely not staring at Janus' tits in the library yesterday."
"I don’t-" He sputtered. "That is extremely unprofessional!"
"So you're saying you weren't staring?" Virgil raised an eyebrow, smirking when he didn't receive an answer. "That’s what I thought. You really just gotta ask him already, dude."
"You are mean, you know that?"
"But you love me~"
Logan didn't answer that either, simply rolling his eyes (and definitely not blushing) and walking into the kitchen. He pulled a glass down from the cabinet, smiling exasperatedly as he heard scratching on the lower cabinets to his left.
He looked down to see Polaris sitting there, her head tilted to the left.
"What?" Logan asked lightly, crouching down to her level. "Care to steal something else from me?"
"She wants a pupcake," Virgil called from the living room. "Patton dropped some stuff off last night, I think they're on top of the fridge."
"Like 2AM, I think. Could you grab me a soda while you're in there?"
"Patton was here last night?" Logan pulled a box down from the fridge, verifying the label before pulling one of the small cakes out, tossing it to the fox that was now jumping at his legs. "I didn't see them, were they here particularly late?"

Logan frowned, grabbing the drink anyway. He threw it to Virgil as he sat on the couch next to him. "You really should get more sleep, you know."
"And you should really get some bitches, yet here you are, pining over a philosophy major. Speaking of which actually I need a favour."
"I-" Logan's jaw dropped, his hand pausing where he had been adjusting his glasses. "Why on earth would I help you after that comment?"
''Because you love me, we just talked about this. Now wait here!" Rushing, Virgil stood quickly, running down the hall where Logan heard him go into his room.
Still in shock, Logan looked over at Polaris, who seemed to be laughing. Hiding her face behind her paws as she ducked her head.
"You are never on my side, you know that?" Logan scoffed, rolling his eyes when Polaris jumped up onto the couch and softly hit her head on his arm.
The two sat there for a moment, before a large crash sounded from the hallway. Almost immediately Virgil stumbled back into the living room, obviously struggling to see around the pile of fabric in his arms. To Logan's surprise, he managed to make it around the chair nearest to the hall, dropping the fabric on the coffee table in front of the couch.
"Virgil I don't-"
"I know you don't do fashion or whatever but one of us," He pointed to himself exaggeratedly. "Is colourblind, and I have a date so please just tell me which of these shirts goes with the skirt. Be objective or whatever, I don't care."
Logan's eyes flickered down to Virgil's hands, which were now shaking. "I thought you weren't nervous." He said softly.
"I'm not!" Virgil stressed, sighing when Logan looked unconvinced. "Lo I just... I really like him, okay ? And maybe I'll look really stupid and he'll be all 'God why would I wanna be seen with this asshole' and then I'll die or something so please just help me?"
Holding his hands up, Logan stood and walked over to the table. "Alright, I'll help." He shuffled through the pile, looking for a specific top, before pulling out a deep purple halter top. He held it out to the other, speaking quietly as to not overwhelm Virgil any further.
"This one will make your hair look brighter. Wear some extravagant eyeliner with it. You'll look fine, dear."
Virgil ignored the shirt, choosing instead to throw his arms around Logan's shoulders, hiding his face in his chest. "Thanks Logan."
Surprised, Logan slowly hugged him back. "Of course, Vee."
The two pulled back after a moment, and Virgil looked at the clock on the bookshelf across the room. "Oh shit, you gotta go. Here, I'll get your book."
He walked over to the shelf, slowly scanning through the books.
"You know..." Virgil said, "I heard Remus mention super subtly that Janus is gonna be in the library alone tonight."
"And by subtly you mean-"
"You do not want to know what I mean."
Logan hummed. "Understood. Well perhaps I could stop by after class."
"Promise you won't chicken out?"
"I promise I'll do my best."
That seemed to appease Virgil, who smiled and handed Logan his book off the shelf. "Have fun at class, nerd."
Rolling his eyes, Logan moved his hand as to take the book, grabbing Virgil's hand at the last second. "Thank you, dear."
He smirked proudly at Virgil's immediate blush, watching him stutter. At their feet, Polaris looked between the two of them happily.
"Love you... or whatever."
"I love you 'or whatever' too, Virgil."
Virgil breathed deeply, dropping his head down on Logan's shoulder before mumbling.
"You're still a huge coward, though."
"Oh, says you."

Stranger Things Egg Baby AU, Wakey, Wakey, Eggs and-
When Steve awoke to the noise of someone else in his house he panicked. Wondering if someone had broken in while he was asleep because it sure as hell wasn't his parents. The sleepy teenager got up in a panic when he remembered the previous night. Right. Eddie Munson was in his house downstairs. Changing out of his pajamas into his usual jeans and polo before heading downstairs to face his injured classmate.
Arriving in the kitchen, Steve found Eddie sat at the kitchen's counter. The metalhead digging through a box of Quisp cereal and shoving handfuls into his mouth. No bowl, no milk, just straight out of the box.
"Morning." Eddie greeted with his mouth still full of cereal as he spoke. Grabbing a bottle of Coke pilfered from his fridge (was he seriously drinking a Coke for breakfast?) and using it to wash down the cereal.
"Has anyone told you not to talk with your mouth full?" Steve asked as he approached the fridge. Opening it and pulling out a carton of strawberries.
"Yeah but I never listened to 'em." Steve grabbed a strawberry and took a bite out of it when he noticed Eddie's leg.
"Take your pants off." Eddie choked on his cereal as Steve said this.
"Scuse me?" The teen choked out.
"I need to change your bandages you perv." Steve rolled his eyes. "Plus those jeans are covered in blood. You're going to have to change. You can borrow a pair of mine."
"Whatever you say nurse Steve." Eddie got up and started to strip in front of the other boy. Steve turning around to avoid eye contact. "You know, I can honestly say I'd never expect the king of Hawkins himself trying to get me in his pants-"
"One more innuendo Munson and I'll kick your barely clothed ass out. I'm not into dudes."
"Seriously Harrington? You're worried I'm going to come on to you? Please, I have some standards."
Okay that hurt his ego slightly but Steve kept quiet as he turned around to see Eddie now dressed in only his Hellfire shirt and boxers. Steve stared for a moment before gesturing for him to go over to the couch. Eddie complied, taking a seat on the couch and stretching his body out. Dramatically lifting his injured leg in the air.
"I'm all yours nurse Steve-shit that hurts."
"Don't extend your leg like that. You'll only aggravate the injury." Unraveling the dirty bandages, Steve tossed them aside and grabbed the supplies bag from the night before. Grabbing the rag and disinfectant Steve began to reclean the wound. This time, he was slightly more gentle.
"So...you going to tell me about that thing that tried to eat me last night?"
"I don't think you're going to believe me."
"Try me."
"Okay but you gotta promise not to tell anyone. Legally I shouldn't be telling you." Eddie made a face at that. "So there's kind of this other world. Like under us. And it has monsters and shit. Remember when Will Byers went missing last year?"
"The kid who supposedly came back to life? Yeah kind if hard to forget with how the town freaked out."
"Yeah, well he was dragged down there by some monster thing."
"Like the one that attacked me?" Eddie prodded as Steve began to bandage his leg again.
"Yeah. The kids call them demi goggles or something stupid like that."
"Do you mean demogorgon?"
"Yeah, that thing....wait how do you know what that is?"
"He's a creature in Dungeons and Dragons." Edddie explained. "He's a Tanar'ri demon prince. In game he has two heads and is super powerful-"
"Yeah whatever." Steve cut Eddie off as he got up. "But those things? Demogorgons, whatever you call them, are dangerous. I thought they stopped it or whatever but one Will's little munchkin friends decided it would be cute to bring a baby one home with him. At least until it ate his cat and broke out. We kind of need to find it before it does anything else." Eddie stared up at Steve blankly, the cogs clearly turning in his head as he took in all the information he was given before letting out a long breath.
"Holy shit."
"Yeah. "
"If I didn't see that thing with my own eyes, I'd say you're full of it."
"Wish I was." Steve watched as Eddie continued to sit there quietly. "...listen it's a lot but we have school in an hour. I'll grab you some jeans, okay?"
Eddie nodded.
~~
A few hours ago Eddie's biggest priority was passing health class with the stupid egg project. Now he had to worry about otherworldly monsters coming from wherever the fuck this other world was and finishing the job they started last night.
He sat in the passenger seat of Steve Harrington's car, wearing an uncomfortably loose pair of jeans that was barely held up by his spiked belt. Eggy Pop was in his jacket pocket and unharmed which he supposed was a plus but again the other worldly monster thing was a mood dampener. The teen was too distracted by the new information to even comment on Steve's choice of radio music. Madonna. Because of course Harrington liked Madonna. Staring out the window at the sparse buildings and empty fids that comprised Hawkins. He wondered if anyone else knew about this supernatural bullshit. All those missing people over the years. Did demogorons eat them? Was that what happened to Barb Holland? Did Steve know?
So many questions Eddie wanted to ask but he was honestly too scared to. Did he even want to know the answers? He couldn't even look over at Steve and instead continued to stare out the car window when he noticed them approaching the school and he finally spoke.
"You can let me out here."
Steve glanced over at him slightly confused as he stopped the car.
"Ugh, why? School's three blocks away."
"Yeah but I'm sure the king of Hawkins doesn't want to be seen with the town freak outside of school doing un egg related things. Imagine what would happen to your reputation."
"Reputation? I don't know if you've heard but as of two days ago, I have none." Steve put the car back into drive and continued the ride to school. "I don't care who sees you getting out of my car or what they're going to say. Can't get any worse."
Considering who was saying this, Eddie was taken aback slightly. Steve Harrington was all image. Yet the look on his face as he pulled into the busy highschool parking lot and parking near the front could obliged be described as confident. The car pulling to a stop and Eddie hesitated a moment before getting out with Steve close behind hum. Everyone turning to stare at the odd duo. Unlike lunch from the day prior, Steve didn't speed away. People whispering as he walked by. Eddie was used to it. Steve wasn't but he didn't seem to mind. It felt nice to not be alone this time. Even if it was Harrington.

Another Camilo Madrigal thought dump(Dont worry this one is totally good for minors too lol)
So I’ve noticed that there are a whole lotta different ways on how people write this teen. which there is nothing wrong with that! It’s actually very interesting to see how people think of him or maybe they are just theorizing/trying new things. In this case, it could only mean that that’s because we don’t really know much about him, right? I mean, to write a character, we gotta know how they talk, react, move, and think(like watching them in a show/movie).
One that really caught my eye was that a couple of fanfics I read about Camilo thought of his gift as a curse more than anything. Pretty interesting, right? Totally! I was digging the whole theory and just how they write him because it certainly wasn’t something I thought of for the character.
Camilo’s gift is chameleon. He can shapeshift into anybody that he knows or has seen before. What they put as his gift was that the more he shapeshifted in his life, the more he was forgetting what he genuinely looked like.
For example: they talked about how he had a scar from a small accident, and after a while he forgot about it. Since he forgot about it, it didn’t appear on him when transforming back to his usual form. Once someone mentioned it to him, he had it appear on him again, now remembering it.
It’s a little confusing to explain, but it’s an interesting way to put it. But my only question is; why they think that way about his gift? It honestly doesn’t make sense to me that he would forget what he looks like. It would make sense if he had the gift since he was born, constantly changing before really knowing what he looks like. But since he gained his gift at the age of 5, he should know what he looks like very well. Especially since his person is on his door.
It’s definitely not a bad theory/idea about him. And although they have mentioned in this website Camilo Madrigal Disney Wiki Fandom that the creators were planning on putting that kind of idea in the movie, they decided not to because it was too much. I agree, seeing as he already has so many insecurities on his plate already.
Another example(From the website):  While not addressed or shown in the film, Camilo does suffer from pressure and has insecurities like much of his family, though he hides it under his cheerful demeanor. Although he enjoys his gift, it makes him questions his sense of self...
Which makes a lot of sense and makes me very sad for him T-T. Camilo needs lots of love and hugs!!
Thanks for reading my thoughts on Camilo! Feel free to reply your opinions or thoughts as well :)

hi hello ms pillarsalt would you mind sharing what kind of iud you have? i have adenomyosis and my cycle pain has been getting progressively worse but i am terrified of hormonal birth control bc all the pill type ones i was on as a teen gave me horrible stomach trouble like to the point we thought i had Crohn's disease. but im also scared of the copper one bc my body has rejected metal b4. basically if u have a hormonal iud can you comfort me that it wont make me constantly sick bc i would like to stop passing out from pain at work and nobody seems to want to discuss this type of treatment yk
I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, it sounds terrible. As I'm sure you already know, I'm not a doctor and I can't tell you if getting a hormonal IUD will help alleviate your adenomyosis. I can tell you my experience with it, though. I have a Mirena IUD which is hormonal. Here is a screenshot from their website about the effectivity:
Tumblr media
So right away I can tell you that before I had it installed nearly five years ago, my periods were heavy as hell. The cramps sucked of course, but the main issue was how much I would bleed and bleed. I would go through probably seven or eight superplus (heaviest) tampons a day and even have to wear a pad at the same time so I could get through a class without bleeding through my pants. I got it installed (usually they schedule it for when you're on your period so your cervix is softer), had a period for about a month afterward, and then my periods became so light that I didn't even have to buy menstrual products anymore. Basically there was a small amount of discoloured discharge that would signal that I was menstruating, with some very light cramps akin to when you ovulate. Now my periods are getting heavier again because I need to get it replaced soon, but apparently the pregnancy prevention aspect is still good for a couple years so it's not as much of an emergency as I thought (gotta find a doctor soon lmao).
I haven't had really any side effects that I could tell you about. I've had issues with mental illness since I was about 13 but they didn't get any worse with the installation of my IUD. Actually I'm doing better than I ever have in my adult life in that aspect. I haven't had any digestive issues like the stomach pain you mentioned, no weight gain or weight loss. My skin is clear almost all the time and I generally feel physically well.
Now, will it help with your adenomyosis? I think it's really worth talking to your doctor about. The hormonal medication in the device, Levonorgestrel, thins the endometrium, which is why I bled far less during my period while on it. The endometrium that builds up in the muscular tissue of your uterus and causes you pain may be lessened in the same way. This part of the website that states why some people can't use it concerns me:
Tumblr media
Because 1. I don't know if or how much your adenomyosis changes the shape of your uterus and 2. if your stomach trouble was an allergy to the medication itself then you'll likely have the same problem here. Basically, you've got to find a doctor who will listen to you and talk this and other options out with you, because it's inhumane to let you keep suffering this way.
Good luck to you, I really hope you can find a solution. I know getting this sort of stuff figured out is daunting and feels impossible sometimes but don't give up. Do your best to find a women's health clinic or at least a female doctor. It's going to be okay!

I meant to write things and then I spent two hours creating a playlist for reality check, as one does. Song explanations below the cut!
This is straight up just a song about being broken by the loss of somebody, cause that's what characterises little Leo. I regret nothing. (It also technically goes both ways!) But you went away. How dare you? I'll miss you. They say I'll be okay, but I'm not going to ever get over you.
The first lines of this talking about a better time, and having to try to manage on his own while not wanting to talk about what happened to him - really this song has no right to match Pilot Hamato as well as it does. Also he does not know how to be alone, especially with all that's on his mind.
I went looking for a lullaby-sounding kind of song for Baby Blue, cause he's, y'know, baby. Not to mention that Blue's canonical emotional shutdown is referenced in the very first verse! When all those shadows almost killed your light, I remember you said don't leave me here alone.
This was entirely chosen for the verse, 'cause it's perfect for them. Sunflower gets better at healthy displays of emotion, but when they're first found, their emotional state is very much what's described in the song - I might cry, but I don't ever show it, can't let you down, can't let you down.
We all know that Alpha has issues, right? A song about being willing to kill for people but wanting to know if it's possible to be rescued, is quite perfect for our traumatised teen. Not to mention the canon self-sacrificing attitude in If I gotta be sacrificed for the greater good, then that's what it gotta be.
Unicorn was completely unwilling to accept that her idyllic life was shattered by the death of her family. Her song is about upheaval in change - How wild it was to find it, finally feel the climate, instead of only staying dry and warm - and honesty and acceptance bringing tears but also salvation.
Vanilla's loss of his entire family is a nightmare, but unfortunately he can't wake up. Thinking of himself as a leader first and a person second, well, it led to some identity issues. But now he's got the help he needs to start healing, even if he's standoffish - an atittude referenced in my heart is gold and my hands are cold.
Cobalt was the sole non-alien in the world, as far as he knew, for two very long years. It wasn't a very good life, but he made it through - and even among the others, he stands out as a survivor. We lost the control and we're on our own, at least for now. Just surviving, and nothing else.
The first verse references that Spruce is used to a louder world, and has nightmares. Not to mention the feeling of being lost, ready to be blown away, after xyr entire family died in a day. Xe doesn't know if xe's worthy of another family - of love - after not being able to save xyr first one.
You are broken, crushed to the very bone, cut wide open. An angsty opening for a song, and also a reference to Pep's leg being injured (and later gone). Despite the trauma involved in that, and the unsteady healing process, he's one of the most optimistic of the blueberries, which is referenced in the chorus.
Echo's song is directly related to the year he spent in the prison dimension. He fought to get back to his brothers, but eventually began to wonder if they left him intentionally - hence the lines If you get to me too late, just know that I tried and Just let me know I'm not forgotten out here alone.
Lee was also in the prison dimension! But not for nearly as long, so they came out of it more optimistic than Echo did. Their song is also about being 'furthest from myself' and 'invaded by the dark', but has a more hopeful bent - So pick me from the dark and pull me from the grave, 'cause I still feel alive.
River is a cheerful kid, all things considered, so I wanted an upbeat song. This one is about her relationship with Leonardo. He tries to help her adjust by bonding with her and acting like her dad did, and filling Splinter's role is referenced by the line, The more things seem to change, the more they stay the same.
Heiwa has been through a lot of bullshit, tbh, and now that they're out of their world, they're looking for some peace. Somewhere that feels safe, where they don't have to be afraid or hurt any more. Or, to quote their song: Home, a place where I can go to take this off my shoulders, someone take me home.
And now the fic's theme song. There's a lot of lines that exemplify Leonardo's protective, loving nature toward his carton of little blueberries. The ones I like the best are, It will be all right, you'll see, trust me. I'll be there watching over you. Just take a look through my eyes, there's a better place somewhere out there.
+ bonus song for first blueberry's Don! I don't think I have to explain the lyrics in this one.
