Hii Mio!!
How are you doing? I hope the Hiatus was good for you! Breaks are good for the metabolism!
I'm really glad you're back,I love your writing!
Speaking of which, here I am with a New prompt-
Could I pretty please have a platonic!child!reader + Husk,Vox,Adam,Alastor,Charlie and Lucifer (Making a big list so you can pick which ones you have more interest in!!) Where the reader is just a traumatized kid who killed to survive when alive, and the characters find the kid stabbing people out of self defense and fear and they just pick them up and take them home because they have nowhere to go? It takes a while for them to adapt to the characters and their new home, and sometimes bad memories hit, they think it's real and they just don't know what's reality or what's just their mind playing tricks on them?
Basically just a Traumatized child with ptsd ToT
So yeah, there you go!!
I hope you enjoy writing this, don't forget to take breaks and drink water!!
Stay proud!! (because I surely am,of you!)

did not hesitate to take you to his place, heaven was safer than hell, no doubt, but that didn’t mean there weren’t ever sketchy people around
once you told him/found out about your past, he’s firstly surprised you’re even in heaven, and secondly surprised how a small squirt can be such a bad bitch
he takes you under his wing (literally) and will protect you at all costs, he was never too into kids, but you were a special one, and he loved ya like a dad, or something like that.

he’s a dad himself, and he knows first-hand hell isn’t the safest place to not have a room over your head, so he brings you to stay with him while at charlie’s hotel (and everyone feels out about how cute you are!!)
lucifer’s hyper attentive of your needs, he’s taking this as a second chance at being a better father, so he’s found everything he can
when he finds out about your past actions, he’s not surprised you ended up down in hell, just because of heavens closed-mindedness, but he feels bad, cause you were just a kid trying to protect yourself

if you work as his assistant, he’ll provide you all your needs, and who could say no?
at first he’s a bit tense around you, kids aren’t his thing, and he has a tendency to just hand you over to velvette when he doesn’t know what to do
but after hearing your story from when you were alive, he can’t help but sympathize with you
he tries his best to be as kind to you as he can after that point, but let’s be real, vox isn’t great with those sorts of things

After all those years of not having references, it's finally here... Let me present to you:
Fanon Skyvik timeline + bunch of my personal headcanons for their relationships!
To see actual timeline - click on image.
Before diving deeper: This timeline isn’t very well thought out and mostly based on headcanons, so there can and likely is huge divergence from the canonical timeline!
Pre-teen years
Viktor’s parents preferred him to play on the highest levels of Zaun so he wouldn't breathe Antresole's toxins. That's how he met Sky.
Nothing special happened in this period of time. Just two kids messing around, dreaming of becoming the greatest scientists of all Runeterra.
Their senior-assistant dynamic was firstly established, but not quite reinforced.
From early years Sky became protective over her friend. Viktor was (and reminds) not very happy about it, but in the harshness of Undercity protection was necessary.
Tumblr media
Early puberty
Oh boy here we go, first romantic shenanigans.
It was time when Sky understood that she likes her friend not only as friend. It wasn't a serious romantic interest, more like “Omg he’s so cute”.
BUT BACK THERE IT WASN’T ONE SIDED!
Anyway, because of Sky’s shyness and Viktor’s fear to ruin their friendship, they never confessed their feelings to each other.
It was time when they both slowly, but steadily came to realize they’re not only into the opposite gender.
Tumblr media
Teens
The most bitter-sweet moment in the timeline.
On one hand, those years were a peak for their friendship: both kinda lost their romantic interest, kept being supportive pals to each other and started to try to date someone.
Viktor even came up with the idea to set up their workshop so they can start to make money. So they did and it was a success.
On other hand: shit started to go down between Zaun and Piltover and also with their parents' health.
Even though they never wanted to leave their hometown, Viktor started to think if he could be more useful if somehow he gets into Academia, but for the time it was impossible due to ban of zaunits (it’s a pure hc).
Tumblr media
Bridge rebellion & Aftermath
Suppression of Bridge’s rebellion was so horrifying, that the Council decided to lift zaunit’s ban in order to soften the edges. At the same time, due to the failure of the rebellion, inner conflicts started (hc: which led to a split between Silco and Vander).
But not only this: Viktor’s parents died due to smoke poisoning and Sky mother’s health began to worsen drastically.
Under the influence of despair from the failure of the uprising, the death of his parents and, in principle, the hopeless situation in Zaun, Vitya dares to leave the city and take advantage of the opportunity to enter the Academy.
During all of that stuff, both try to hold together their friendship and support each other, but despair ends up winning over Viktor.
Tumblr media
Some time apart
Both are going through some shit: Sky - though struggles with life, Viktor - though nationalist intolerance and general struggles with adapting to Piltover.
Sky’s mom didn’t make it.
After 1-2 hard work in the Academy, Viktor proved himself as worthy for the dean assistant position, and, thanks to that, was able to help Sky get to the Academy too.
Tumblr media
Act I
Even after reunion, relationships between those two never would be the same as it was in Zaun. But it would be more apparent in Act II.
At the same time, Sky’s romantic interest reincarnates, but this time it’s more mature and serious.
It was a time when Sky met Jayce!
Funny thingy: due to gap in age and education, Viktor became thesis supervisor of Sky (I’m sure it’s not one of the reasons why they never got so close again).
Tumblr media
Act II
Вon't have headcanons for this part of their lives for obvious reasons, but keep the homemade reference anyway!

Do you happen to have any headcanons for Crittendon or Hochstetter?
Sorry this took so long! Got a little busy this week and I didn't have my laptop with me but here we go
Crittendon: I think Crittendon served in WW1 and had that attitude at first that “war is adventure, so let’s go fight!” Probably came from a rich and well known family considering how class played such a huge role in becoming an officer (I’m assuming that the same applied to the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) considering the attitudes of those in the RAF during WW2 regarding lower class airmen wasn’t exactly what you would call friendly). But anywho while Crittendon was definitely posh, he didn’t mind associating with those that were considered lower status than him. I can honestly see him being a bit like Hogan when he was younger and serving during WW1, not exactly following the norms and a bit of a risk taker and show off (a much more toned down version of Hogan, I don’t mean to say they were exactly alike, I just mean to imply slight similarities and that Crittendon wasn’t always so steeped in tradition). Now there’s a few reasons that I have in mind as to why he is not like this anymore:
1. Associating with people of a lower class than him was gaining him a, shall we say, unfavorable reputation with his superiors and since he absolutely dreamed of being this heroic, well known, and well liked officer, he slowly dropped those friendships because he couldn’t stand the thought of disappointing his family. I think they for sure put a lot of pressure on him to make a good impression, climb the ranks, uphold the family name and honor, and I see Crittendon just having this terrible fear of letting his family down and being disowned. His father and his grandfather were likely big military men themselves so there is a reputation to uphold that comes with the name Crittendon. So he regrettably falls into this strictly traditional, by the book military life.
2. I think this attitude is solidified by seeing his buddies get seriously injured or dying or suffering from PTSD (or what they would call shell shock at the time), and it gets to the point where he stops making friends in general because he can’t bear to lose anyone else (and I remember reading somewhere about an officer, not exactly sure if it was WW1, but anywho the guy just stopped learning new soldiers’ names because the casualties were so high). I see him adopting this “play by the rules and no one gets hurt” attitude and simply refusing to take what he deems unnecessary risks (hence the stance he takes on not participating in sabotage in “the flight of the valkyrie”).
So I conclude that a combination of pressure from his family and the terrible things he saw during WW1 shaped him into the man we see in Hogan’s Heroes. Now I realize it’s a bit strange to say that Crittendon’s insistence on tradition, his inability to fathom and accept Hogan and his unusual ways, and his inability to adapt to this new war landscape were not with him from the start. But I think this is what makes it so interesting because Crittendon knows what worked for him during WW1, he survived by following tradition and following the rules, so naturally when he sees Hogan for the first time, who reminds Crittendon slightly of himself when he was younger, he thinks he can set Hogan on the right track so to speak by being so insistent on how he would do things. And in Crittendon’s mind I think he believes he is doing Hogan a favor by passing on his knowledge from WW1, even though he most certainly is not. So I think Crittendon definitely means well and at times is genuinely trying to help Hogan, but he’s just never gonna be able to adapt to this new war that the Allies are fighting.
I can definitely see the possibility that Crittendon was also a POW during WW1 and that also played into the views he held. Maybe he and a group of men planned this escape and it ended up going horribly wrong (trying to decide if someone just slipped up or if there was a snitch, the details are a bit foggy at the moment) and a lot of guys got hurt or killed. That would completely explain Crittendon’s escape only attitude in “the flight of the valkyrie” This part of my hc isn’t as fleshed out as I’d like it to be cuz I’m still working out some details but I’ll post about it once I have everything I want.
Side note: As for Crittendon’s arrogance and overconfidence, I’d have to say maybe that stems from his experience during WW1 as well. Like “I’ve been around the block before, I know how this works, who does this kid colonel think he is trying to tell me what to do?” For him at least, following military norms and playing by the rules worked for him. He rose to the rank of colonel (or group captain I suppose) and he made it out of WW1 alive. This way worked for him, why shouldn't it work for everyone? Crittendon just fails to realize that WW2 is a whole new ballgame though. So although he does eventually come around to the idea of sabotage, he isn't very good at it cuz he still holds that attitude of "I have experience, so I know what I'm doing." He just can't stop seeing Hogan as this kid who is too young to be a colonel and therefore has no credibility and that is a good chunk of Hogan's dislike for the man.
Side side note: This is unnecessarily deep, I do enjoy Crittendon even without all this backstory I made up for him, purely for his comedic value and the distress he causes Hogan 😂
Hochstetter: I’m gonna be honest, my hcs for Hochstetter are pretty basic and aren’t super elaborate. He for sure needs to be more fleshed out but this is what I have for now:
Disgruntled WW1 veteran who was very unhappy with how the war ended. I think he struggled a lot afterward, had a hard time finding work and making ends meet and maybe some struggles with mental health. Then this hitler guy comes along and he’s just ticking off all the boxes for Hochstetter cuz he’s making these promises of a better Germany and throwing off the shackles of Versailles and Hochstetter is sold. He becomes an early member of the nazi party and that’s about all I got
I’d really like to come up with some stuff about why he hates Hogan so much. Like I know Hogan is just really good at pushing buttons but he makes Hochstetter absolutely irate. There’s gotta be a little more to the story. Maybe something happened when Hogan first became a POW and he was being interrogated at gestapo headquarters… I’m excited to build on this later
However a friend of mine mentioned a story where the author ties in Howard Caine’s Jewish heritage into Hochstetter’s character and makes him a spy and I haven't had the chance to read it yet but I could easily be persuaded, my hcs on Hochstetter aren’t set in stone

Saw the live action Knights of the Zodiac (which I will be differentiating from the Netflix version by referring to it as The Beginning going forth), and while I had fun, it was bad in exactly the ways I expected
Which is to say, pretty much the same way that the source material is
While there was actual fight choreography, which was an immediate plus that almost made me forgive every other bad decision I knew was coming preemptively, the overall story was just as vapid and underdeveloped as every other adaptation of this story so far
I do think that for the sake of conveying the first arc in a two hour film, trimming everyone aside from Seiya, Ikki (Nero), Saori (Sienna), Mitsumasa (Alman) and Marin was the right play; dealing with Shiryu, Hyoga, Shun and whoever else on top of an already decently sized cast would have diluted an already watered down story. The problem, though, is that other characters were either added in (Vander Guraad, just like in the Netflix KotZ) or had a lot of extra attention given to them (Cassios, again just like in KotZ, and weirdly Tatsumi/Mylock, who was kind of the best character when he had no right to be), and in both cases used up screentime that should have been reserved for Seiya, Saori or Ikki
If they were going to put so much focus on Guraad, who this time is a woman despite being literally the same character as in KotZ, then I think it would have been prudent to use her as a device for developing Saori more. We’re told that when Saori was a baby, she was being cradled in Guraad’s arms and then randomly unleashed such a concentrated blast of Cosmo that it destroyed Guraad’s arms and necessitated Cosmo-life support to keep her alive. While I have no idea why such a thing was necessary even in context, it would have helped a lot to actually see this event happen, and see it early in the film. Seeing the transition from motherly figure to would-be executioner would have made for a much more compelling plot than seeing an evil businesswoman pursuing a young girl for nebulous reasons and only finding out later that the girl is her daughter who we’re told near mortally wounded her one time
It also would have built up Saori’s fears of losing herself to Athena much more effectively. When we’re formally introduced to Saori, Mitsumasa basically says “oh, by the way, Seiya, let me introduce you to my daughter, the reincarnation of Athena” and she’s just like “hi, I’m Athena or whatever” then flops down in a chair in the background as if she’s actively trying to leave the frame but knows she isn’t allowed to. It’s only in the next scene when she has a random Goddess Attack that Seiya even believes conceptually that magic is real, and then all at once accepts that Saori is Athena and that he’s a Saint, though he mopes about that for a little bit because he doesn’t like being tied down by destiny or whatever
Saori and Athena are usually pretty indistinguishable in most Saint Seiya media, unlike Julian or Shun who get outright possessed by Poseidon and Hades respectively, so seeing Saori worry about the possibility of having her personality subsumed by Athena is a pretty interesting angle. Even ignoring the possibility that she would be a threat to the world, which is kind of an odd decision for the writers to make anyway in my opinion but I’ll get to that later, analyzing that anxiety would do wonders for Saori as a character, as she usually comes off pretty flat. Seiya also tells her that she has the right to choose between being a goddess and a petty jerk in the climax of the film as she is losing herself to Athena, but the thing about that is that she’d never been a petty jerk to Seiya earlier in the movie. She was aloof in the very beginning, then tried to relate to Seiya and comfort him about destiny not being set in stone, packed him a lunch (that he lost before he got to eat it, which I think is devastating for whatever relationship the writers were going for) and then got kidnapped when he couldn’t use the Pegasus Cloth properly. That’s literally every interaction they had, and he never called her a petty jerk or made any value judgments on her whatsoever, at least not to my recollection. Seeing more of who Saori normally is and what she had to lose, and what she did lose because of her divine powers, would have done wonders for both her and the film, but alas the plot is more important than the people in it
Similarly, Seiya has very little personality, as usual, and even manages to have less than KotZ which at least showed him picking up litter after he misses a trash can to show that he’s carefree, but responsible and respectful. Here, he’s...determined, as shown by the fact that he never gives up during a fight, and he’s...skeptical of mysticism and fate. That’s...pretty much it. There is a little bit of overlap there I suppose when the only thing he gives up on in the film is breaking the rock during Marin’s training, thinking that it’s impossible, but honestly it came off as inconsistent with his usual blind determination than being a nuance in his two major character traits. I think I would have liked to see more casual interactions between Seiya and anyone else in the cast, whether it be with Seika/Patricia in the flashbacks or Saori or Marin in the present so that we can see again what kind of person he was vs. what kind of person he became, what he lost when Seika was taken and what he retained. They even try to play that angle too, with Marin asking Seiya who he’s trying to save and his vision cycling from Seika to Saori to ultimately his younger self cowering in the closet. The innocence of his youth or the powerlessness he felt as he watched Seika be ripped from him is potentially a strong motivator for him, but because we know effectively nothing about who he is as a person, we don’t feel the weight of the realization that he still feels like he’s that helpless kid, or how that motivates him to save Saori after he had been so badly beaten and even allowed Mitsumasa to die
Speaking of Mitsumasa, he had one scene where he comforted Saori after a nightmare vision of Athena killing Seiya, but that was the only real fatherly moment we got to see from him. The rest was just exposition, all tell and no show. We learn that he abducted countless children to feed their Cosmo to Guraad to keep her alive, which I guess is meant to be in place of him gathering orphans to become Saints, but again we don’t really feel a sense of betrayal or anything because he wasn’t established as being all that great of a guy in the first place. We didn’t have much reason to think he was bad or anything, aside from association with Guraad, but he went from neutral to dubious rather than endearing to nuanced. His argument with Guraad about how they should believe in their daughter was one thing, but again without seeing the threat she poses that made Guraad turn against the family, we don’t have a strong sense of what Mitsumasa is having his faith tested against. And then he kills himself pointlessly, failing to take out literally any of the opposition that hadn’t already been beaten by Iron Chef Tatsumi (who again, is usually supposed to be completely ineffectual, so while I had fun seeing him get to be cool for once, he really had no business being in the first place)
As I said earlier, Guraad also didn’t really feel like a mother to Saori, she just felt like a bad guy who had heard of her, whereas the Guraad of KotZ at least talked to her and Mitsumasa in a way that gave me the sense that they were at one point a family and that he regretted that their lives had come to this. Somehow Guraad is a much more believable gay man than straight woman, which I think is particularly funny since KotZ only hinted at Mitsumasa and Guraad having such a relationship whereas in this version he explicitly refers to her as his ex-wife. Again, seeing their happy life prior to the tragedy, the choices that they made and regretted afterwards, and their separation when compromise was no longer an option would have made their dynamic and Guraad’s presence as the villain (and ultimate decision to give up her plans because of her lingering affection for her daughter) much more believable and resonant as a story
Ikki, of course, also fails to resonate at all because we’re somehow told even less about him than anyone else. He uses the Phantom Demon Fist all of once, not even on Seiya, which would have been a good opportunity for analyzing his anxieties or even been a good way to reveal that Mitsumasa was involved in Seika’s disappearance, and we never learn his motivations for wanting the Sagittarius Cloth or killing Athena. He seems to believe that Athena is a threat to the world, but honestly the idea that Ikki is trying to save the world through unscrupulous means is extremely counter to the Ikki from any other iteration. Ikki is motivated by two things: vengeance and protecting those he cares about, and the interplay between those two ideas is probably the most interesting thing about early Saint Seiya (trying to get revenge on Mitsumasa by killing all of Mitsumasa’s children, including his own beloved brother Shun, who he believes he’s mercy killing because of their tainted blood at Mitsumasa’s hands). Without either of those motivations being clearly established here, he’s clearly trying to be a nuanced villain with noble goals, but he just comes off as a random mook who happens to be stronger than anyone else present. If we had either taken out Guraad’s failed parental storyline or Cassios’ desire for revenge against Seiya (for...leaving the ring during a fight?), then time could have been dedicated to developing Ikki’s personality and motivations, but instead we learn nothing of relevance about him aside from the fact that he is the Phoenix Saint
We also learn nothing helpful about the Saints, where the Cloths come from, what they do, how Sanctuary works, we just kind of vaguely learn about their existence and Cosmo, which is a personal point of umbrage for me. While the visual of Seiya and Ikki’s Cosmo spirits wearing the Cloths was really cool, the Cloths themselves clearly aren’t meant to be rearrangeable into statues, robbing them of a lot of their identity. The Phoenix Cloths feather trails were prehensile and able to shoot the feathers as projectiles, that was pretty inventive, but it only comes up when Ikki is attacking Guraad, not even during battle with Seiya, so it was also just kind of a waste. I wanted to see an interesting take on the Cloths and Cosmo or have the Saint Seiya world clearly established to show newcomers what’s cool about the franchise, but despite those things being my favorite part, they were sadly little more than footnotes and MacGuffins. I do think it was interesting that the Pegasus Cloth had two levels to it, covering just his chest and arm at first and then covering his full body, but man that was a drastic jump between two scenes without establishing that there was a way to...I don’t know, use the armor better?
I see why this movie isn’t performing super great, at least not stateside, but I can’t help but feel that part of it is because IT’S NOT PLAYING IN MOST THEATRES!!! AND THE ONES IT IS PLAYING AT IT ONLY HAS LIKE ONE SHOWING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GOD DAMN DAY PER DAY!!! I had to drive half an hour to a theater at the tail end of the hours of operation because that was the only time I would be able to make and use my AMC account rather than paying 30 bucks for me and my wife at the ritzy local theatre, and honestly I’m glad we did it that way cus if I actually paid for the tickets I’d probably be even harsher
To sum up, the action was fun, and some of the visuals were surprisingly inventive, but like every other adaptation, The Beginning fails to capitalize on the original work’s potential and instead acts as if the premise alone can carry it without actually putting in the work to properly develop the characters or setting. I wasn’t bored, which is a win, I’m just disappointed that I got what I was expecting: the original but worse (again)

Mmkay. Been a long while since I have been on Tumblr. I have recently been coming for Bridgerton content, particularly Polin content. So we may be expecting a shift in profile here. With recent plot details released for season 3 I needed a place to put my thoughts so…here we go. First ever post on Bridgerton.
I’m feeling very conflicted about the plot of the season. The way they developed season 2 I expected Colin and Penelope to be next, but when season 2 premiered I hadn’t read any of the books. I quickly devoured all 8 of them. Having read RMB I knew that season 3 would need to be drastically different since majority of the plot of the book was around Whisteldowns identity. Here’s what I loved about the announcement: the fact they will be building Penelope’s confidence. I think we will see her blossom and really be on a path of self-love. Am I happy it will be Colin helping her with this?
Yes and no. I would love to see it portrayed similar to his own self discovery “if pen can see me this way certainly I can see myself this way” but I have a feeling it won’t be that way. Hence the no. I would love for Pen to realize how amazing she is and it come about naturally for them both. Will it happen this way? Likely not, especially with additional cast. I’m dreading the fact they will make Colin jealous. Jealousy is just not an attractive trait to me and petty. I would love to see Colin grovel and worship Pen, having him recognize what a jerk he really was without additional suitors. I don’t understand why they feel the need to have him help her find a husband. Why does Pen need to have a bunch of suitors for her to have confidence? Not to mention is goes completely against everything in regency times. Not knowing exactly how this will play out I can’t completely tear it down, but seems to me that Pen and Colin are going to have a lot of unchaperoned time together more than they already have and more than any of the other previous seasons and it just seems so unrealistic to me that Colin would be giving Penelope “lessons”. I do think this is how they’re going to work in Penelope asking Colin to kiss her, a lesson in kissing perhaps.
I apologize for the oddness to this stream of consciousness and all the different directions. Maybe once I’ve had more time to think about it all I will be able to make more sense.
let’s try to boil this down a tad to things I want to see and things I don’t.
Things I want to see: Pen realizing her worth and becoming more self confident, Carriage and mirror (goes without saying), Pen standing up to her mother and Cressida, Colin not being an asshat, Colin having other interests other than travel, Colin groveling, Colin and Pen both finding their purpose, Colin going to a sibling and having discussions of love, a very very very strong A storyline.
Things I don’t want to see: Colin jealous, Colin experiencing significant amounts of heartache (same for Pen), other suitors (don’t even get me started), all of the sexy times being put out like they’re “lessons” (don’t do it). Whistledown being the reason Pen has confidence. I don’t like that she may use it as revenge. I get she’s human and I’m forgiving of the asshole things she’s done, but I would much rather her try to make amends then try to tear more people down. not a comprehensive list but a great start. All in all I am just hoping to not be angry with the adaptation. Nicola had mentioned that they’re sticking pretty close to the book, but I don’t see it. I think there are several moments in the book that will definitely be included, but I’m just fearful that it won’t be as strong of a story as the other two seasons. I never will discredit Nic or Luke’s acting because I think they’re both amazing so if I end up unhappy it’s not because of them and their wonderful selves.
Always happen to have conversations about this. I’ve missed obsessing over a TV couple.

Now I’m curious how your and potentialfate-sims reading of the characters differ, so 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 16, 25, 31, 34, 38, and 50 for Nathan
Nathan knows how to sew because of Dorhack's strange compulsion to force people to sew for him. Ian was driven insane by it, and Abe has the ability to sew clothing, but will never use the skill. Nathan is probably very good at sewing, but has no real need for it in his life. Aside from that though, Nathan's not big on crafting.
Nathan wears deodorant and maybe some aftershave. He doesn't really care what he smells like to others and hates romantic partners that wear overwhelming scents.
6. Nathan doesn't trust anyone but himself. If he were injured, I could see him going to Jorah because he knows that Jorah is too nice for his own good and he's sympathetic to Lucy's family. He might also go to Nickolas since they were each other's shadows growing up. Nickolas is more focused on building his own life now, which pisses Nathan off, so they'd probably just end up fighting about Nathan's life choices.
7. Nathan has a lot of fears that people would think are unusual, but not to him. He has a lot of fears about demons and his own sanity, but his greatest fears are about finding someone he cares about. If he falls in love or has a friend, then that means he's vulnerable to someone hurting that person, and he's terrified of it. He would really like to date Cindra again, but he's afraid of hurting her in any way. Caring about people makes him feel weak.
8. Nathan collects demonic artifacts and creepy occult books and charms. He and Roman probably have a lot of the same items in their collections, though Nathan can't afford or find some of the things Roman has.
10. Nathan regrets breaking up with Cindra and trying to be her friend, since she’s been in his wants ever since they broke up. He regrets showing his hand to Roman before he knew how strong Roman had gotten. That’s pretty much it, since he loves trolling people and anything someone else would have regrets over, he chalks up as a learning experience to avoid in the future.
12. Nathan dresses pretty casual, sometimes leaning into the bad boy image he hopes he’s projecting. He’s fond of jackets, tight pants and sunglasses.
16. Nathan does not want children. He half expects to die before he’s thirty, and wants to live as much as he can before then. Unfortunately for him, he has three so far in my play through, none of which he knows about and one of which he won’t learn about for years.
25.Not really. Nathan never knows where he’ll end up at the end of the day. Sometimes it’s his dorm, sometimes it’s at a random hookup’s place and sometimes it’s in the middle of a cemetery. No two nights are the same and that’s how he likes it.
31. Nathan would choose to be able to cast out demons most of all, but he wouldn’t mind being invisible. Both because he enjoys gathering intel for his crazy schemes and because it would remind him of the days he and Nickolas hid in the walls and spied on people.
34.Not well. Like his sister, Nathan tends to shut down the emotional part of his brain to function. Late at night, sometimes he finds himself feeling emotions and has to drown them out with his usual vices. He doesn’t grieve for his dad; he just ignores that his dad exists. He grieves for his chance with CIndra, but then sleeps with random people to forget her. Lashing out with words and violence usually gives him something to think about other than his problems.
38. Horrifying mostly. Dreams are where he interacts with the piece of Dorhack embedded within him, and where he processes his trauma and fear. He dreams about Roman a lot because of Dorhack’s interest in him, and he’s partly so interested in testing Roman’s patience because of his frequent dreams. Sometimes he dreams about Theo and how powerful he will be, making him hostile to his nephew for what looks like no reason.
50.My favourite thing about Nathan is his attitude and ability to adapt to any situation. He doesn’t care what happens to him and trolls people purely for his own entertainment. I like when he actually forms an attachment to someone else, but then has to immediately try to sabotage the relationship to maintain his emotional distance. He’s a lot like his sister, but darker and more unhinged.

Potentially hot take: adaptations of written media should act as, in some way, fix-it fics of their source material.
What with the new WCAnimated casting call, it got me thinking about the future of the project and the nature of adaptations as a whole.
Let me get into a side-tangent, I swear this is important.
I watched the anime Beastars back when it was released in 2019 (well, I watched it in 2020, but shortly after it was released). Excited for the next season, I went ahead and read the manga up to its latest release.
Then the manga's ending came out. And people were rightly pissed at the series' resolution. Character arcs were foregone, societal notions went in backwards directions, and I'm having a really hard time wording this without spoiling anime-only fans.
Now that the anime has a complete manga to draw from, it has every opportunity to take what the manga failed in doing and avoid that or rework it. Although in all honesty, they really should've written the snake out. What narrative purpose does she serve? Nothing. You can write her out and replace her scenes with something else with the same result.
I've been rereading The Prophecies Begin, and there's a lot of bad writing, illogical plot directions, lore that never gets touched upon, and a heavy dose of Early Installment Weirdness on top of it that drag it down. In light of this, I desperately wish that WCAnimated does what it can to add fix-it fic elements to its adaptation of Into the Wild (and, if it's doing the rest of TPB, to the rest of its plot).
Some suggestions I'd make include:
Enable Dustpaw and Sandpaw to become warriors before Firepaw and Graypaw. Also wait about three more months for Firepaw and Graypaw to be apprenticed. At the bare minimum, two months.
Let Frostfur's kits all be apprenticed at once. Not in Fire and Ice. Similarly, let them all graduate at roughly the same time.
Write the kittens (Frostfur's babies, Brindleface's babies, Swiftkit, Lynxkit, and Mistlekit) to have more of a presence.
Similarly, give Rosetail a presence, or say she died before Into the Wild.
Write the nursery more like the modern nursery, Frostfur is there because she has her babies to take care of while Speckletail and Goldenflower are "perma-queens" as the fandom likes to call them. May I propose the name "matriarch"? Brindleface isn't pregnant yet, and hasn't had any children of her own, so she can be a warrior in Into the Wild.
Have Lionclan, Tigerclan, and Leopardclan come into play more often. Let Fireheart hear of more tales of the Mythical Clans rather than just being mentioned every other book and then forgotten once the arc's over. One could take the Watership Down approach by having the mood of the tale play into the upcoming events, much like the placement of the story of El-ahrairah and the Black Rabbit of Inlé. It's more interesting than the thirty-thousand hunting and patrol scenes where nothing of import happens.
Have Fireheart tell people things, but have people not act upon his warnings for damn good reasons, or at least have them try, but fail to do so in time.
If you're keeping all of Graystripe's actions from Fire and Ice to A Dangerous Path intact, I strongly recommend he should not be chosen as Firestar's second deputy. Instead, I'd advise the team to make Longtail Firestar's deputy for sticking to his Clan, actually investing more than enough time into his apprentice, and it'd close up a nice little redemption arc for Longtail. In this vein, I'd like Longtail to get a proper redemption arc.
Kill Brokenstar at the end of Into the Wild or Fire and Ice. This BS about "If we kill him, we'd be no better than him" is stupid and they should've just shoved yew in his mouth the moment they had him. He murdered kittens, and he later went on to provide the tools Tigerclaw needed to throw his coup. Kill that heartless son of a bitch.
Instead of exiling Tigerclaw, sentence him to death. He can get away from his execution and cause fear and worry like normal.
Snowkit still has a good shot at being a warrior, so let him live long enough to be apprenticed. Brackenfur's willing to take him on, let him. Speckletail doesn't have to move to the elders' den since she's too old to care for kits. She can move since she's just old, and still care for her son.
Let Sandstorm mentor Fernpaw or Tawnypaw. Preferably Fernpaw. Fireheart gave Ashpaw and Fernpaw to Dustpelt (good choice) and Darkstripe (bad choice), then took on Bramblepaw's training and gave Tawnypaw to Brackenfur since he was scared Tigerstar would lash out at her.
Properly explain the family tree and have characters react to each other with those proper dynamics. Have Bluestar and Whitestorm properly act like aunt-and-nephew (with that undercurrent of adopted mother vibes). For the family tree's sake, I'd advise to ignore Dustpelt being Ravenpaw, Frostfur, and Brindleface's brother (and Ravenpaw being the girls' brother for that measure). Treat Redtail and Sandpaw like actual father and daughter (it's your decision if you want Brindleface as her mom).
After getting comfortable living as a barn cat, have Ravenpaw either drop the -paw and just go by "Raven" or gift himself a proper warrior name like "Ravenwing".
Tigerstar could actually be faking the fact he's blessed with nine lives, threatening Runningnose into silence about it. Scourge doesn't kill him nine times over, it could just be an incredibly grievous wound.
In that vein, Nightstar could have eight lives like Sunstar did. Maybe because of his age and with greencough and carrion-sickness ravaging the camp, he dies multiple times over. Maybe Tigerclaw discreetly kills him?

Lend Me Your Voice (English version) from Belle
Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four, Part Five, Part Six
Watching a movie with Jason turned out to be a very interesting experience. Salim found it so endearing and funny that such a tough and aggressive man-beast would be frightened by a scary movie. Especially one he'd probably seen dozens of times already in his time trapped here. And yet Jason flinched and whimpered throughout the whole thing. Holding his hand must have helped because Jason clung to it like a lifeline.
They didn't have their usual late-night talk that evening and Salim wondered if Jason was embarrassed by how frightened he got during the movie. The next day his friends seemed to want to make it up to him and showed a comedy instead. That was enjoyable, too: watching Jason genuinely laugh and enjoy himself made Salim happy. Their eyes met quite a few times and Salim was delighted to see the human brown was still there.
Once again Jason didn't show up to meet with him later that night. Salim told himself this was a good thing: it must mean that Jason was sleeping better. But he couldn't help feeling a little sad at the same time. Since he was awake anyway, Salim took out a book and read until he was nodding over the page.
The next movie they watched was, strangely, an adaptation of a Shakespeare play. Salim expected Jason to complain about this or get bored but the beast actually seemed into it.
“Do you like Shakespeare?” Salim wondered.
“Yep. Took a whole class on his plays in college.” That really surprised Salim. “This is one of the good ones,” Jason continued. “They make the language sound so fuckin' conversational, it's wild.” Salim could only nod and turned his focus back to the screen.
He really wanted to talk with Jason about this during their evening meet-up but the beast didn't show up yet again. Salim felt actual hurt at this. Why wasn't Jason coming down to talk with him anymore? Even when they did interact, the beast was acting more aloof than usual. He thought their relationship was getting better but now it seemed to be taking a step backward. What had happened?
Salim was sitting in the rec room with a blanket draped over his shoulders and a mug of coffee in his hands. He was ready for the next movie but Jason hadn't arrived yet. Joey asked if he wanted to start anyway but Salim insisted they wait for Jason. He went through two cups of coffee and still the beast wasn't there. Finally Salim got up and headed to Jason's room. He knocked on the door.
“Jason?”
“I ain't in the fuckin' mood!” the beast shouted.
“But Nick said you like spaghetti westerns.”
“Fuck off, Salim.”
“Are you sick?” Salim persisted. He tried the knob but found the door locked. “Jason? Jason, please, talk to me. Let me see you.”
“Well, I don't wanna fuckin' see you, so buzz off.” Salim recoiled from the door as if he'd been burned. He had to take a moment to get his composure back.
“Why? Please, Jason, talk to me.” There was no answer from the other side. “Jason. If you think being an asshole is going to make me leave, you are mistaken. I am standing right here until you talk to me and tell me what's wrong.” There was still no answer.
Salim was starting to get really pissed off. Why was Jason acting like this? “Whatever bullshit you're trying to pull isn't going to work on me, you mangy cat. So you might as well stop this and open the door!”
“Fuck, Salim, leave me alone!”
“Talk to me! You've been avoiding me for days now and I'm sick of it!”
“You should be fuckin' glad you don't gotta see the cursed one. Be fuckin' grateful!”
“Don't you throw that bullshit at me!” Salim fumed. “I don't care if you're a giant beast; I just want my friend to talk to me again! I just want to see him and be with him.” There was a moment of silence, and then the door was wrenched open. Jason stood on the other side with teeth bared and claws out. Looking every inch the dangerous cursed one the village feared.
“Want to be with me now?!”
You want this, Salim realized. You want me to be afraid of you. Why? He met the beast's gaze and saw that the hue of Jason's human eye had shifted ever so slightly.
“Jason.” He lifted a trembling hand to the beast's face. Jason snarled and snapped but Salim didn't flinch away. “It's okay,” he soothed. “You're okay.” His hand touched Jason's cheek and he felt it was wet just under the beast's eyes. “You're okay,” he said again, lifting his other hand to touch Jason's chest. He felt the beast stiffen but Jason didn't pull away.
Slowly Jason lowered his hands, tentatively brushing Salim's hips. When he wasn't stopped, he slid them around to the small of Salim's back to wrap his body in a hug. Salim leaned into him, getting as close as he could.
(A/N: Heard this song and instantly thought of this AU, so I knew I had to incorporate it somehow)

Alright I'm not *entirely* sure I know where I'm going with this but I'm gonna vaguely pull on my previous thought that the Loki series portrays Loki as other people see him to make sense of episode 4
I know some people were upset about how it seemed like the series was agreeing that Loki was a narcissist, so let's explore that, because I don't really think that's the case. In the Sif time loop scene, we see Loki say,
Please, please, no more. Please, I beg you. I'm a horrible person. I get it. I really am. I cut off your hair because I thought it'd be funny. And it's not. Uh... I crave attention... because I'm... (Sighs) I'm a... I'm a narcissist. And I suppose it's... It's because I'm scared of being alone.
He's clearly exhausted and wants the beating to stop. He also knows what Sif thinks of him (helpful that she's been repeating it), so he says what he knows she wants to hear--but here, as with Mobius in episode one, although he is being strategic with what he says, he's also being genuine, at least mostly. He's too drained to do anything else, and he knows it wouldn't work anyway.
Loki absolutely is scared of being alone. That's the core fear he has, which is why he wanted to be Thor's equal--he didn't want to be abandoned or forgotten about (which, coincidentally, is exactly the punishment Odin gives him in TDW...). That's why it's the last thing he says, why he stutters and pauses so much before getting there--and it also happens to be the thing that Sif keeps throwing back at him. By putting it last, he's hoping he won't have to hear it again. Beating her to the punch, per se. (I also think it's interesting that he says he "never thought about it again" after this event happened, but yet it is the one Mobius puts on a loop in order to "soften him up". Clearly, Loki did remember this as a very painful memory--probably because it hits on his deepest fear--and it's effective in exhausting him emotionally, just like the footage of his life was. It's interrogation prep so that he's already vulnerable when he gets to Mobius. But anyways.)
I think he somewhat believes the other things he says, but only because it's been beaten into him so many times. Loki wouldn't think he's a horrible person, but he knows Sif does, and Thor, and Odin, and the Avengers, and Mobius--so maybe he is? This self-doubt is particularly clear with the "narcissist" line. It's framed like an admission, and I think it's because he's started to believe it. But that's not because it's true, and we're not supposed to believe it either.
Loki has always adapted himself to meet other people's expectations, and that's exactly what he does in this interaction as in so many others. He doesn't really know who he is, just who other people think he is, and that person is a horrible one, so that's what he says about himself. And other characters certainly aren't disagreeing. Mobius throws the same kind of lines at him when interrogating him in episode 1:
Look at that smile! You're enjoying that!
(LOKI: I know what I am.) A murderer?
You're really good at doing awful things, and then just getting away.
You were born to cause pain and suffering and death.
And by the end of the episode, Loki is emotionally exhausted. He calls himself weak. And when Mobius says, "You do know yourself!" Loki responds with, "A villain?" All of Mobius' attacks on Loki's identity were effective enough that Loki supplies him with another negative identifier--playing into what he wants to hear, just like he does with Sif, to make the attacks stop.
But it's different in episode 4. Mobius tries the same tactic again, using a word Loki had just used to describe himself:
What a incredible seismic narcissist. You fell for yourself!
This comes after he tried to convince Loki that Sylvie was dead (thus leaving him alone), and it's very much structured to further play on that fear--the only person he could ever be close to (in any way) is himself. He is alone. And it's that thought that's juxtaposed with the narcissist barb. Mobius is defining Loki as a narcissist, not because it's true, but because he's trying to break Loki down.
In reality, Loki isn't narcissistic at all--wanting attention does not a narcissist make. The very fact that he can say "I'm a narcissist because I'm scared of being alone" shows that he isn't one; you aren't a narcissist "because" of something, you just are one! And he's just been told he is one so many times, by people strategically attacking him, he starts to internalize that thought. It reminds me a lot of how people would call Tony narcissistic (even in his Avengers file) and how despite that being untrue, he began associating self-preservation with narcissism and instead took on the responsibility of protecting the whole team at cost to himself. Tony wasn't narcissistic--he used attention-seeking as a cry for help. It's the same with Loki. He wants to be noticed because he doesn't want to be alone.
And it's that desire that's being attacked. Mobius calls him a narcissist for finding companionship in Sylvie, the only person who's even tried to genuinely get to know him. Mobius is trying to keep Loki isolated and emotionally distraught, since Loki is less formidable that way. But Loki holds his own, even getting in the final line. Because of Sylvie, those barbs don't have the same effect as they did before. In episode 1, Mobius says:
It's funny, for someone born to rule, you sure do lose a lot. You might even say it's in your nature.
But look at what Loki says in episode 4.
SYLVIE: Do you think that what makes a Loki a Loki is the fact that we're destined to lose?
LOKI: No. We may lose. Sometimes painfully. But we don't die. We survive. I mean, you did. You were just a child when the TVA took you, but you nearly took down the organization that claims to govern the order of time. You did it on your own. You ran rings around them. You're amazing!
And that's what starts the Nexus event. Loki directly goes against the definition and expectation of what a Loki is supposed to be. He finally defines himself, thanks to and through Sylvie, as someone who survives, someone who is independent, someone who can do anything, someone who "can be whoever and whatever he wants to be"--and the universe breaks.

Request: How the Demon Brothers React to a Very Competent Caretaker MC
The prompt: MC has to take care of lots of siblings back in the human world. Not, like, 6 or 7 siblings, but TWENTY-FOUR!! MC can multitask like no one’s business and can easily take care of any problem that might arise with their siblings. MC is great at taking care of others and enjoys it. The hang-up is that when they come to Devildom, they suddenly find themselves with a lot of free time and aren’t really sure how to fill in those gaps since they were always dedicating themselves to others.
Anon! Your message was so sweet but I was having technical difficulties writing the post as an answer so I decided to just make a separate text post. Btw, your great-grandmother sounds like a total badass, what an inspiration! I hope you don’t mind my work around for the technical issues and I hope this lives up to what you were looking for!
Edit: I wrote this for the formerly Undateables as well, check it out here.
Belphegor
As the youngest he doesn’t completely understand but he does love his family (even if he doesn’t always show it).
He is kind of amazed with how competent MC is and how easily adaptable to the needs of him and his brothers.
He’s kind of selfish so oftentimes he abuses your nurturing nature.
After the events in the attic, Belphie does worry you’ll hold it against him, even subconsciously. You cut the tension one night by saying, "You can't kill me, I've survived my little sibling trying to play violin with a chainsaw!" The mental image makes him laugh.
Belphie would be the best brother to consult with if you want to learn to be a little selfish yourself. It doesn’t have to be a complete personality overhaul but there is value in knowing what you want and making those wants known to others.
While taking care of so many siblings, you never had the opportunity to take naps and he is offended! But secretly loves that he gets to show you the joys of a nap.
Beelzebub
Beel loves taking care of others, just a very loving boy. The two of you get along like peas in a pod.
It’s very easy to fall into old habits around him because he has a personality that makes you want to care for him.
Since he’s so strong, he does fear hurting you by accident. You let him know, “I don't fear pain, I do my school homework upside-down while on a ladder changing the lamp." While it doesn’t totally extinguish his fears, the thought of that total body workout intrigues him enough to distract him.
If you want to fill some time, he would love to have you join him at the gym or come see his games.
Physical fitness and nutrition are fundamental to taking care of yourself and Beel would be the demon to go to to learn more if you’re interested.
Also, I’m sure you would agree but cooking is a form of love so if you enjoy spending your free time baking and cooking, Beel will follow you around (for the treats lol). He’s said it before, if you know how to cook then he wants you to stay by his side.
Asmodeus
“Treat yo self” is his guiding principle. He is your demon to teach self-care.
If you’re looking for something to do, part of your time can be filled with his routines for skin care, hair care and mental health checks.
Casually you mentioned one day, “"Me, go to sleep? I'm the oldest sibling, I don't sleep, I worry with my eyes closed!"
“MC! You need to get your beauty rest!” He countered. I can imagine that he basically drags you to Belphie to figure out how to sleep better.
Although he has a lot of knowledge to offer, you are quick to pick it up and help him in braiding his hair out of his face or gently applying a face mask.
The fun part of learning from Asmo is that there’s always some new beauty product to try and he loves having a buddy to try it with.
Satan
He’s amazed with everything you can do. He asks you to teach him how to do things he watches you do flawlessly.
He’s definitely curious to hear about what it’s like living with so many siblings, 6 seems like too many sometimes so 4 times that is completely unknown to him.
Satan was helping with some homework and suggested tackling an easier assignment first, you challenged him with, "Don't underestimate me, I managed to make a toddler spell pneumoultramicroscopicssilicovulcanoconiosis!"
He laughs as he confirms he wasn’t underestimating you, just trying to offer some guidance for efficiency.
You need something to pass time? Satan has enough books in his room to literally last your lifetime.
He can help you find any kind of book, simply let him know what you would be interested in and he probably has a suggestion.
Leviathan
He’s drawn to you and at first he doesn’t know why. Later he realizes it’s because you’re so good at listening where his brothers usually just ignore him.
Games and anime are a great time filler if you’re interested, he’s got all the best recommendations.
It might be tough to get into first if you’re not used to binge watching a series or gaming for hours on end.
When he apologizes for possibly annoying you with his rants you assure, "You can't annoy me, I've endured eight rebellious teenagers!"
I could imagine that you’d resonate with slice of life animes as an introduction to the genre and possibly adventure games with a good story would catch your attention.
Even if you’re not totally invested, he enjoys your presence since you’re not dismissing his interest.
Mammon
Listen, he’s a good older brother! Some of his personal decisions are questionable but he’s dependable when needed.
Definitely king of random interests so your well-rounded abilities are actually well suited to keeping up with whatever past time has piqued his interest this week.
Mammon would probably be confused when you see something during one of his shopping trips that you clearly want but refuse to buy. Eventually he builds it up enough (like the demon on your shoulder whispering in your ear lol) that you do end up getting it.
What you had first dismissed as Mammon being materialistic, you slowly come to realize because of him that you can surround yourself with things that bring you joy and so your days are filled with happiness.
He can get reckless so he appreciates your protection from Lucifer’s punishments and hides behind you like some of your siblings did at home.
He protects you too though! He stands up for you and points out things that are unfair to make you aware.
Lucifer
Oldest sibling comradery from the get-go.
You’re both very responsible individuals and when you join forces, it’s like nothing is impossible.
He’s the one you go to the first couple weeks when you find yourself with free time. He’s sure to have something to be done to help fill the newfound free time.
Over time he comes to rely on you but he’s worried he’s overworking you with the tougher assignments. You made sure to remind him, "I have no difficulty with this task, I'm the oldest of twenty-four siblings!"
Lucifer recognizes your competence and he excels at boosting confidence and pride so don’t think you are not immune to that.
The more time you spend with him, the more you develop a stronger sense of self-worth and self-determination. He practically gushes pride at the sight of you defending yourself and claiming the value of your time near the end of the exchange program.

Lost & Found. Chapter 3.
Ivar Ragnarsson x oc.
Summary: being rescued by Helga in one of the raids and reluctantly tolerated by Floki, a young girl finds herself amidst a strange place with strange people, but if adapting to the cultural shock wasn't hard enough, catching the attention of the volatile and beloved son of the Queen would soon prove to be the ultimate proving. That is if she realizes just how much being around prince Ivar is walking on thin ice.
Author's note: family dynamics and fluff.
Tagging: @youbloodymadgenius
Understandment is hard when you can't speak to each other, but gestures may reach further than words.
--------
A few weeks after they returned, Floki's home had fallen into a strangely peaceful routine.
Floki would do his work, busy with Bjorn's request, while Helga would teach Revna their language for hours a day, every day, their voices being background noise for him.
Helga was radiant with joy. She loved taking care of Revna, spending a lot of time combing the long hair and doing beautiful and intricate braids while talking to her, to which Revna would sometimes reply and even if they couldn't understand each other an odd sort of dialogue would emerge.
While this arrangement made Floki uneasy, he could be thankful for his wife's happiness, she hasn't been happy in a long time. Even if happiness was a passing moment, it hurt him that Helga carried so much sorrow, most of which, if not all, he knew to be his fault.
Now, Revna was sitting on the chair shaking her leg and looking down, Floki occasionally looked at her and he didn't need to understand her words to understand her lately. She wasn't allowed outside yet and that was getting to her.
Helga came with a bowl of stew for Revna and tried to hand it to her.
"Here, I brought you food." Helga said to Revna.
She looked at the food then turned her head away to the floor and continued shaking her leg.
"You need to eat to get better, please." Helga tried to reason with her.
Revna answered with a small grunt, resting her head on her hand.
"What is it, my dear? You were doing so well." Helga said to her stroking her hair.
The girl didn’t answer, but Floki did it for her:
"She's bored, Helga. I think she wants to go out."
The realization dawned on Helga, making her smile kindly to the girl, carefully caressing her head. Poor thing, she had every right to be bored, but Helga wanted her to get stronger before facing the city.
Helga sat behind Revna and cupped her face, making the girl look at her. She spoke softly, trying to make her understand:
"I know you're bored, but you need to get strong before I show you Kattegat" she gestured to the door "I'll show you everywhere, but please, keep eating well and get better."
The girl studied her face for a while, then gave her a pout but accepted the food. She ate slowly and in small portions, an empty stare in her eyes.
That was good, Helga thought, that was great. She begged the gods for another child and they gave her one, a beautiful girl that she had already fallen in love with and would do everything in her power to protect.
Not long after, the door swung open and Ivar came into their room, dragging himself until he was inside and on his usual spot like that was his second home, which has been since the day his mother brought him there.
"Hello, Floki. Hello Helga." Ivar greeted them.
"Ivar." Floki greeted him back, spotting right away the faux innocent smile the young prince had whenever he was up to be a pain in someone’s ass.
Ivar turned his attention to the girl, who was eating and either uncaring or ignoring his presence.
"Revna." He said her name with a slight pitch to his voice and squinting at her. He had her name memorized from the odd fit it made for her, but mainly it was for the fact she slapped his hand. No one in their right mind would dare to do it, and no one that ever as much as said something wrong to Ivar got to live much longer, let alone someone stupid enough to try their luck against him, those he took delight in dealing with. Though to Revna, he probably was just a harmless cripple. Ignorance is bliss, he thought.
Revna, apparently taken back from her thoughts, looked at him. Her dark eyes gazing upon him with a spark of curiosity and interest. She had memorized his face after his first visit, how could she not? The complete stranger with very blue eyes, pale skin and a fingertips rough and calloused like the ones found on peasants, slaves or warriors. This complete stranger that touched her like it was normal or acceptable, the nerve!
The voice in her mind screamed: ‘Was it normal to him?’, “Is this normal these strange people I’m living with?’, ‘Was that how he acted around outsiders?’, ‘What am I even doing here?’, ‘What will they do to me?’  Questions, questions, they came and went in circles for all these days.
But she put a stop to them for now, like it or not, for good or ill, he was the only other sight she had other than the couple, she could indulge in a quick distraction from the walls of the home she was living in that were starting to feel smaller by each day.
"Ivar." She said, looking straight at him, trying to pronounce what she inferred to be his name as best as she could. Adding a pitch to her pronunciation, just like he did, just because she could.
His eyes widened and he tilted his head to the side, stare fixed on her and her every minimal movement. He was sincerely surprised that she actually spoke directly at him.
His name on her lips was carried by a foreign accent, it sounded different, almost like it belonged to someone else, but her gaze on him, with expectancy in her eyes and a hint of pride on the corners of her lips turned slightly upward left no doubt she indeed meant him.
Ivar heard her before, annoyed and agitated at his first visit, so he hoped to have the same effect, but now that she spoke camly, trying to pronounce his name correctly and seemingly proud of herself for it, she threw him off balance. He had expected the annoyance she had from before, he expected her disgust at him as she wasn't pleased with his touch, why would she want the hands of a cripple on her? He even expected fear from her, but he didn't expect to hear his name slow and soft on her lips, he didn’t expect to hear her trying to reach out for him and how his own name would sound so foreign coming from her lips.
He wanted her to say it again, wanted to hear the strange way his name sounded from her, but he didn’t know how to demand it, so he nodded at her, not really knowing what to say, not that it would matter. She probably wouldn’t understand him anyway.
Revna smiled proudly to herself, a beautiful smile, if he had to say anything, he mimicked her smile shyly, though he quickly felt self conscious under her gaze and looked away, trying to find somewhere other than her eyes to look at, but nothing seemed to quite hold his attention.
Ivar felt as Revna looked away from him and continued to eat, he glanced a few times at her, the shy smile he held gone as she paid him no further attention. He noticed, however, how her legs began shaking in a slow, lazy rhythm. A stream of thoughts began in his mind: ‘Is she playing with me?’, ‘Is she bothered by my presence?’, ‘Does she pity me?’, a frown forming on his face with each thought.
He turned his attention to Helga, who was distracted with the girl's hair:
"I haven't seen her around yet. Why? When are you going to show her off?” he made a pause before adding the last part venomously “Unless she is to be a house slave."
"She's no slave, Ivar. We're adopting her." Helga corrected him, a tad annoyed at the slave mention.
"Then why haven't I seen her outside, hm? If she's to live here as a free woman, then she needs to know her way around."
"It's too soon yet. She doesn't speak our language."
"It’s not too soon, it’s been weeks! And if all the problem is that she doesn’t speak our language, then it’s another reason to do it. She'll learn much faster by experience."
"I'll take her out when she's ready." Helga answered a bit tense. She didn't want to go into detail of why she was so careful but she also didn’t want to lie to Ivar, who by the frown seemed to be growing angry.
"She seems ready enough." He said pointing to her legs.
Revna stopped shaking her legs, staring at Ivar wide eyed and lips slightly parted as she just took the spoon from her mouth. She arched an eyebrow looking lost as a puppy in the forest. Good, Ivar thought. Revna then looked confused from him to Helga, who caressed her face reassuringly.
"So, why don't you take her outside?" Ivar insisted.
Helga couldn't find an answer to stop Ivar's questioning and looked to her husband for help. Floki seemed entertained, holding a smile of his own, but as soon as he felt his wife’s eyes on him and her silent plea he intervened.
"Since when do you care about things that don't involve you?" Asked Floki.
"What?" Ivar countered astonished, "What do you mean by it? Of course it involves me. I was in this home before her, I have a say in whether she can stay or not."
"Is that so?” Floki said amused, “In this case what your mighty self has to say?"
Without missing a beat and with a self assured tone that didn’t transpired his shyness just a moment ago, he answered:
"I say this girl better adapt to our ways else she brings the wrath of the gods down on us..."
"The gods love her, Ivar. They gave her to me." Helga interrupted him. She realized the mistake as soon as the words left her mouth.
"How can you be so sure?" He inquired, renewed curiosity in his eyes.
"I just know it."
"If you say..." he eyed her suspiciously, before continuing to Floki, "...I say she better learn manners. No one should dare to hit a prince and go off unscathed."
Floki chuckled from his spot then said:
"You deserved that one. You could have used some other way of introducing yourself rather than touching someone you’ve never seen before and is not here as a slave. However, I thank the gods for letting me witness your face that day."
"You old fool..."
"Ivar. Be patient with her." Helga said to Ivar softly. She was very aware of how badly he took insults, even when none existed.
"I am patient,” he countered, “but the girl needs manners."
"Ivar..." Called Floki.
Ivar sighed before continuing:
"However, I am willing to forgive her for you,” he said looking at Helga “and an apology from the girl, once she learns how to speak our language, of course."
"Ivar, she's just a child, give her some time, I'm sure she'll adapt." Said Helga, looking at Ivar while she tied the end of one of the braids on Revna's hair.
Ivar lived with them long enough to see she truly wanted that girl to be part of their lives. He had seen the glimpses of sadness throughout his upbringing, the lost gaze Helga had when she thought no one was looking, the unsettling feeling that lurked under the surface when she saw mothers with their newborn babies. Perhaps the surprise wasn't that she took a girl to raise, but that she took that long to do it.
But he loathed the idea that in Floki’s home would live someone that would regard him in the same way the rest of Kattegat did, an outsider to add insult to injury.
"If you say, I'll try to tolerate her. If at least she can pretend to not be annoyed whenever I’m here.” Ivar said as he pointed to Revna.
He couldn’t pinpoint exactly what about her shaking her legs was irritating him. If it was the repetitive pattern, the slow rhythm, the proximity of her feet to him, or what was to him, a clear display of her displeasure with his presence. Though why would she have smiled at him with that beautiful smile if she was annoyed by him?
‘She’s playing you’, His own mind answered the question.
Both Helga and Floki looked to each other confused as to what he meant, Floki being the one that asked:
"What do you mean by that? She doesn’t even know who you are to be annoyed at you."
He pointed to Revna’s legs, this time the girl didn’t even bother to look at him and continued eating as if there wasn’t an annoyed young man pointing at her for no reason at all. Which bothered Ivar even more.
Floki couldn’t help but laugh. It was like he was a naughty child again that got all pouty and angry until he got things his way. At least he didn’t scream anymore. Not as frequently at least. His boy was maturing.
"She's bored, Ivar. Been like that for a few days, it has nothing to do with you." Floki made a point to emphasize the last part.
Ivar stared at Floki speechless. His eyes open wide, darting from Floki to the surroundings as his lips parted, which pretty much told the boatbuilder that the young prince hadn’t considered a possibility that didn’t involve him. He then rolled his head before asking:
"Then what have you been doing with her all this time?"
"We’ve been taking care of her, Ivar. Teaching and getting her used to us before she faces the others." Answered Helga.
Ivar pondered her words for a while, then agreed with her.
"What does she do in her spare time?"
Floki was quick to answer that one:
"Snoops around the house, messes up my tools… Oh, she also has a fondness for magic tricks, they make her happy like a child."
"Really?”
“Yes. I’ve done a few for her and it never fails to get her attention.”
“That’s childish.”
“She is a child, Ivar. It’s no surprise at all.”
Ivar looked like he just realized what Floki said to him. Turning his attention back to Revna as she looked around the house with that same little pout on her lips. He had of course noticed she was young when he first saw her and when he touched her face. Younger than him, in fact. Skin too soft and face still with some roundess to it, but he didn’t stop to consider what that would mean. Of course she would be like that being so young and housebound, he knew the feeling all too well from the days and days and more days he had to be inside his home because he was too sick to go out without serious risk of breaking his bones.
Looking to Helga, who hadn’t got her hands away from Revna, he knew that was her doing. ‘Why won’t she let the girl out? She’s not crippled.’ was what he thought. He knew it was her because she had the same look his mother had when she would smother him with her love as if he was still a baby and not let him do anything food himself, which only got worse when his eyes would turn blue. He loved his mother more than anyone and anything else, but he hated feeling useless.
Maybe that was what Revna felt. He was strangely relieved to not be the reason for her annoyance. At least not this time.
Then a silly idea crossed his mind. He reached for a pouch of leather he carried and took a coin from it, he then got a bit closer to Revna and touched her foot. The girl gasped startled but relaxed when she looked down at Ivar, who expectantly tried to measure her reactions to him. She tilted her head and arched her eyebrow inquisitively at him, which coupled with the cute pout on her lips made for an adorable sight. He beckoned her to come closer to him.
“Go on, my dear.” Said Helga to Revna as she looked to Helga for permission.
Revna got off of the chair and sat on the floor close to Ivar, close enough to be within arm’s reach, but not close enough to accidentally brush her legs against his, she then rested her hands on her lap and looked at him with curiosity. He studied her expression carefully, searching for the all too familiar signs of pity and disgust but found none of those. Even though he noticed she kept a distance, he was pleased she sat near him.
He then showed her the coin, playing with it between his fingers deftly, she giggled, trying to follow the coin with her eyes and relaxing a bit from her position. He then halted his movements, holding the coin between his index and middle finger, Revna froze in her position as soon as he stopped and looked from the coin to his very blue eyes. There it was, that beautiful smile together with an innocent shine in her eyes.
He then put the coin flat against the palm of his hand, closing both of them into fists and bringing them close to his lips, he didn’t take his eyes off her, enjoying her full attention as she looked from his fists to his eyes. He blew air against his fists and slowly opened them, showing her the palms of his hands, the coin nowhere she could see.
Revna looked at him, giggling happily with a wide smile, a smile Ivar found to be quite beautiful and contagious, making him smile himself, although more reservedly. When she calmed down and silence fell between them, they were looking at each other’s eyes, hers filled with joy and his with pride for being the reason for it.
He soon felt self conscious again and looked away.

Do you think Dirk saying that he doesn't like to label himself as gay means he has internalized homophobia? Or does he really just don't like to put labels on himself? I've seen ppl saying it's homophobia but there's ppl in real life that don't feel comfortable with labels so I'm a bit confused honestly, cus we are talking about Dirk and he's... Dirk after all
Easy answer: Dirk is Gay.
Prolonged answer: I think it's kinda weird how some fandom discussion around "Dirk dodging the label in One pesterlog" has largely spiraled way outside of its original context to be talked about in a vacuum, especially when that context is crucial to understanding what is actually being said, AKA — it belongs to a deeply awkward conversation between Dirk and Roxy. One of Many they are implied to have had about the subject of Roxy's sustained, unwelcome, and oft drunken advances towards Dirk (& his splinters).
I'm going to reproduce it plus another bit of text down below, for the sake of comparison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(To prevent the trickster text from looking like absolute shit, I have altered the background. Read the original here, if you're nasty: https://www.homestuck.com/story/5754 )
Now that we've been reacquainted with how and where that sentiment is expressed, let's try to break down what Dirk is doing here.
He is not receptive to Roxy's early advances, and spends most of the 'intro' for this conversation (not pictured) ignoring when Roxy flirts with him, until she gets upset at how 'boring' he is being right now.
Dirk is the one compelled to apologize.
He proceeds to shut the scenario down as an unwanted probability, eliciting further guilt-babbling from Roxy over how Dirk never wants to play along with the perfect traditional family fantasy, until she finally blows up and says it's because he's gay.
"I mean, yeah, that's what I thought."
Dirk, rather than saying I Am Not Gay, since he looooooves changing a conversational subject, claims that "Gay" is not entirely historically appropriate for this situation, given the non-negligible passage of time and the wildly dystopic circumstances* they find themselves in.
Dirk reassures Roxy he does still care about her.
Dirk is absolutely terrified of a similarly inclined (and intoxicated) Roxy up close. This is the most exclamations he's ever used.
Now, *These circumstances? The loss of 99% of the human race, including their society, customs, culture, and prejudices. (ALLEGEDLY.) It's important to remember that from Dirk and Roxy's side of the timetable, troll culture has been pushed as "the norm" for actual fucking centuries. HIC tried to recreate the caste system by artificially coloring human blood, leading to the death of billions. Faygo came out of the water tap, not water. Troll slang was incorporated into the English language. Humans ceased to organically reproduce. They were actively Discouraged from reproducing, since that's not something HIC could have total genetic control over; rendering traditional marriage and the concept of the nuclear family pointless.
You could also argue that same-gender relationships are not uncommon in Alternia, making "gay" altogether unnecessary by proxy, and that's true! But my point is this one: any union (or at least our society's holy concept of it) between straightie humans would be by definition undesirable under HIC's rule, too. She is the church, the president and the governing body. The population is only as good as they are assets for her to do whatever she wants with, including mass murder.
But wait! While that tracks… Roxy clearly still holds onto very 'conservative' definitions of romance for most of Homestuck. We see this multiple times. Dirk, as proved in conversations with Jake, uses 'gay' as an ironic pejorative. Suddenly it's not Historically Inaccurate anymore, Jake's interests are just gay.
Tumblr media
Does this mean the context above is basically worthless, since they don't seem to have internalized it? No.
What must be kept in mind is this: Dirk and Roxy's only "active" link to de facto humanity is our society as it was in the early 2010's. Those glimpses they get by talking with jane and jake. They have all that dystopic context, yes, but the reality that seems the most "unfucked" to them for a grand majority of their lives are the halcyon years before the Condesce's rise to power: back when weed was illegal, BlogSpot was popular, movies sucked, MTV was still a hip channel, and gay generally meant something real bad. The wave of homophobia as a punchline or fear mongering tactic was at THE HEIGHTS. Marriage equality was a hot debate topic. Those were the dayz.
Dirk is keenly aware of the taboo implication the word "Gay" as a self-denomination carries. He's no dummy. But he's rarely direct with his intentions either. He's slippery as a bar of soap. (He's never "straight about his feelings", if you prefer.) And for a guy that cares so much about his reputation and maintaining a curated sense of utter coolness, he wants to avoid outing himself as any sort of weirdo no matter the cost.
But that's not all. I think the gravity of just how much Dirk believes he *owes* Roxy simply for existing as the last human in the same timeframe as her is a severely underplayed aspect of Dirk's core character, together with how much he tries to avoid her sexual advances only to end up feeling like absolute shit over it, because — if they truly are the last people on god's blighted earth, isn't he being "selfish" and "irrational" about not feeling shit for Roxy, in the grand scale of things? Is Roxy not his only friend in tangible reality, even if he avoids the mere suggestion of visiting her? Even if she gets black-out drunk and tries to push him into indulging her, regardless of how many times he's already said no?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Spend enough time here and you realize how it directly mirrors the jane/jake experience.)
Dirk cares a lot about each and every one of his friends.
He pointedly adapts his speech based on whichever one of them he's talking to in an effort to express that investment. May it be reassuring Jane, fooling around with Jake, or trying to prevent Roxy from falling into a total catatonic doom-spiral; he avoids telling them anything that would be too crushing to hear. That's not what he's trying to do here. Not to say that he isn't bitchy sometimes, but that’s far from the central thing he does. The Epilogues have retroactively led people to believe that Dirk abhors and despises every single person he's ever been close to before (god forbid) LIKING them, and I think buying too much into that assumption ignores the foundations of his canon text, as well as the central motivation behind 99% of his actions in the story. This is the guy that grew up on Friendship Is Magic, has a picture of rainbow dash shamefully glued to one wall and a rainbow poster of Jake's symbol stapled to another, and everything he does is a little cringe attempt to demonstrate his worth by showing how much he cares about people, even when he's punching his actual feelings down instead of up and saying them.
Which brings us back to the load-bearing part of this question: Admitting to Roxy that there is absolutely no fucking way he will ever agree to having her babbys because he is gay is precisely the opposite of what Dirk wants to say, if his intention isn't pulverizing her. So he doesn't. And his worry on this regard is such that it prevents Dirk from even telling Roxy that he does love her, in the platonic sense, as a friend and hell-earth survivor, because he knows that specificity is what that would disappoint her greatly. (He only ever confesses this to Jane, on the death slabs.)
But also I think this is a really funny visual of Dirk's relationship with the word gay, to put statements into perspective:

Moneypulated PT.2//Aizawa
!!!MINORS DNI!!! 18+ONLY!!!
Special thanks to Emmie for creating this awesome S&M event and letting me participate and those who requested a part two of my first Aizawa piece x
If you like Sadism and Masochism, BNHA; AOT and Haikyuu the event is definitely for you :)
Pairing: Sadist!Mob-Boss!Dom!Aizawa x Masochist!Sub!femreader Words:3.2+
Summary: When your life is threatened Aizawa realized just how important you are to him. A small fight leaves you bend over the couch, cross eyes and leads to him admitting his feelings for you.
TW: slight mention of torture (a bit more at the end), s&m, controlling Aizawa, calling him sir, knife play (no blood), slight ass and nipple play, orgasm denial, slight oral, biting, spanking, hair pulling, dirty talk, slight bit of degration and teasing
Three month, three weeks and three days. That’s how long it took you to develop positive feelings for him. He gave you everything, but privacy, something you had to learn rather quick because that man was strong and even though he doesn’t look like it, heavy. You told him no twice. The first time left you bruised for at least three days, fucked into oblivion. The second time left you sobbing from his impact play. You hated how little you could control your body, dripping wet before he slipped into you. Something he would love to taunt you with. „Always so quiet and modest. Yet here you are begging to be fucked by a criminal after he spanked you blue and green. Don’t tell me you like that. Tsk, dirty girl,“ he told you with a slight smirk on his face, one hand having a strong hold in your hair to hold you up so he could look at you. The other one pinched and played with clit, milking orgasm after orgasm.
He knew how to work his charm, knew how to impress you. Listened, remembered basically every detail about you. Aizawa wanted to know everything about you, from childhood memories to teenage drama to your goals and dreams. Of course he was genially interested in you, after all he wanted you at his side, but it was also helpful to know one or too secrets. Just in case. It was understandable that he was a bit shocked and also even more alarmed when Shota noticed how fast you adapted to the captive state of yours. There was no attempt of you running away, either because you knew it wouldn’t work with guards everywhere around you, or because you were afraid. So he tested it out. Gave you a car, told you to go enjoy yourself, get pampered for a surprise he had prepared.
First thing you did was getting new underwear because as much as you… appreciated him buying it for you you would like to have a few comfortable pieces that cover more than 3 inches of your skin. You stopped to get a nice drink at a small restaurant, got a small snack before you ended up buying four new plants. A smile creeped up on his face when his phone signaled him he got a new message from Shinso. Attached to it was a picture of you smiling while picking up the most sad looking flower he had ever seen.
It happened while driving back. You realized happiness started to form in your stomach at the thought of seeing him again. Excitement about showing him what you had bought. How could you be happy? After how he treated you in front of so many men, so many strangers. But then again he took care of a man who had sold you for his addiction. You knew he was in the hospital right now, after trying to enter the casino again. At first you thought he was there to get you, to show at least some sort of remorse. Even though their boss told them not to tell you those details Denki let it slip that Kirishima caught him gambling. With that your last string of attachment ripped apart. It wasn’t hard to choose between being left alone with nothing or a slightly questionable man who (as much as you would like to deny it) made you feel good, save and wanted.
That day was the first time he took you to the casino with him, introduced you to a part of his world. The one that was less brutal. He wouldn’t not let you see someone getting tortured. But he knew how gruesome it can get and even though he wouldn’t tell anyone, he threw up after his first time, felt sick the first five. It just made it so much easier to get people to talk. Or make them stop. Sometimes they need to be taught a lesson or too to not put their noses in his businesses.
Rumors started to spread around fast after your first appearance. Shota Aizawa has a trophy wife. Something that made him weak. A pretty one on top of that and she was supposed to be his little lucky charm. Every table you appeared at, the house would win. You didn’t play yourself, you only sat besides your... Well, besides the mob boss himself.
There was no explanation for it really, it wasn’t luck per se. It was math. Some liked math in school, some didn’t. What you liked more though was winning. And games like these were hard to predict, but not impossible. Another aspect were their faces. Everyone focused on their face and those of others, tried to keep cool while detecting a mistake of others that they forgot about other limbs. Some tapped their fingers against the table or cards, others would play with their drink, swirling the ice cubes around without touching it. Some bounced their legs, crossed them, scratched them. Once you caught their mistake it was over for them.
While some got scared because of it, others seemed to find a challenge in it. They wanted to beat you. How could you know that one night you will have the son of another mob boss on the table? He was supposed to be a spy, simply collect information about you and leave. But the opportunity to beat you and therefor Aizawa was too alluring. How could he know that he will lose almost 33 Million yen in one night? And with those 33 Million yen came a big target right on your back.
In less than 24 hours a collection of pictures and informations about you was delivered to Peony. In less than 24 hours your world was turned upside down yet again. The freedom you were given was taken away in order to protect you. His worry for you was understandable but when he decided to have Bakugo and Kirishima on your heels 24/7 you had enough.
--------------------------------------------
„I’m inside the house! The house has walls almost thrice as high as Kirishima’s 7 foot frame, a massive garden with six well trained guard dogs running around. You have the best alarm system there is on the market and still I’m not even allowed to use the bathroom in private. It’s humiliating,“ you explained to him angrily. „I would rather humiliate you than pick up your dead body limp by limp,“ he tried reasoning. „Do you even hear yourself? How can you say something like that? Do you not trust your men? I can defend myself! Eijiro has-„ suddenly you went quiet, realizing too late what gravitating mistake you just that you had just exposed yourself.
„Eijiro has what? Continue doll. I‘m all ears,“ he leaned back against his desk, crossing his arms over his in a black shirt clad chest. „We shouldn‘t be changing the subject now. I need-," „What you need is to tell me what Kirishima did,“ you wouldn‘t be so on edge if he yelled at you, screaming at the top of his lungs, slam his hand on the desk, anything. Instead he was dangerously calm, collected, ready for you to make the next step. Knowing you were trapped like a small mouse between a wall and an awaiting cat, only playing with its fear.
„I will tell you if you promise me he isn‘t going to suffer any consequences. He had no ill intentions,“ you started explaining, making a step forward and trying to look as timid as possible so he will show mercy. „You actually think you‘re in a position to negotiate? Oh darling, it is breaking my heart a tiny bit to see you’re underestimating me,“ he faked a pained expression before closing the gab between the two of you.
You knew better than to relax yourself into his touch as he caressed your cheek, planting a small kiss on your forehead.
„Now,“ Aizawa stood behind you within a second, your wrists in his hand behind your back, something cold against your neck. „Please continue before I lose the small amount of patience that is left inside of me,” he sounded threatening, his voice deep and raspy, mouth dangerously close to your ear lobe. The knife near your aorta send adrenaline through your whole body, your pussy pulsing as you caught sight of your current position in his window.
You noticed his eyes wandering over the curves of your body, as the sound heavy breathing hit your ear. It seems like he was holding back, but be the looks of it all he wanted to do was drag the knife along your clothes and watch it drop to the floor. It wasn’t on purpose, more or less, but your hand brushed against his crotch, hearing him hiss as you touched his hard length for a mere second. The grip on the red handle tightened, pulling your body into his and leading your hand back to his crotch.
Eyes met in the window as he licked his lips. He tilted your head back slightly with the tip of the sharp blade, kissing the spot behind your ear.
„Sorry kitten, but this isn’t the time to play,“ he whispered into your ear while you started massaging him through his suit pants. A smirk appeared on your face as you agreed with him ‚oh I know, sir‘ you basically purred. Within seconds you pulled yourself away from him with your whole strength, bowing as he went to grab your hair and kicking back into his stomach as you turned which send him to the floor as he stumbled. Grabbing the knife from his hand and dropping onto his hips as you held the knife to his throat.
„Eijiro taught me how to defend myself, so I don’t have creepy old men all over me,“ you told him, a sudden wisp of a moan leaving your throat as he grabbed your hips and ground his pelvis against yours. „I didn’t know I’m a creepy old man. Wasn’t it just yesterday that you begged me to stuff you? And wasn’t it you that screamed my name so the whole house could hear who fucks you ‚like a god‘? Hm… I must confuse you with someone else that came cross eyed all over me considering I don’t play with brats,“ as the last word left his mouth he flipped you around, turning you so your stomach was flat against the freshly cleaned floor, hand in between your shoulder blades to hold you down.
He thanked the sun for shining so brightly and the clouds for not appearing, considering it lead to you dressed in the shortest little sundress you could find in your closet. The color suited you so damn well and the dress made it so easy for him to uncover your ass. His hungry eyes starred at it in its full glory, feeling his rock hard cock to twitch in his pants.
The blade was dragged across your skin and he could have fucked you right then and there as he noticed how you tried to clench your legs, goose bumps appearing on your skin. „Don’t tell me you enjoy this, such a dirty girl,“ he stopped right at the hem of your underwear, dragging the flat side across your clit and earning another moan of yours. He chuckled, „I see.“
Suddenly the blade was back at your throat, his other hand massaging your ass. „If you try to move or forget to thank me I might have to use the sharp side next time and we don’t want that do we doll?“ Shota asked you, the tip slightly pressed onto your sweet spot as you took to long to reply for his liking. „No sir,“ your voice was slightly shaky as the anticipation inside of you grew. „Not so tough anymore, thought so,“ he loved your submissive state, every time he thought he went too far you were there dripping wet for him.
Without a warning his hand came down hard on your ass, massaging your cheek before disappearing again. „Thank you sir,“ you moaned, the next slap delivered right after. „Thank you sir,“ you said again, feeling our wetness slowly seeping through the thin fabric covering your cunt. Every once in a while he would dip his fingers between your folds, playing with your clit until you’re about to cum, only to stop and spank you again.
Once your ass was a bright red and noticeable handprints adorned your flesh he decided he had enough. The last few thank you’s gave away that you started crying softly, maybe slightly caused by the pain, but more at fault definitely were the denied orgasms.
„Had time to overthink your statement from earlier?“ Aizawa went down to your ass, pushing your panties to the side and dragging his tongue across your slit, dipping inside for a second to collect some of your juice. Kisses were plastered across your abused skin, bitting down onto it to hear you moan again.
„I give you ten seconds to go over to my couch, get undressed and bend over it,“ if you weren’t so incredibly needy right now you might even had begged for some more spanks.
You could hear him get undressed as you did the same, back turned to him to allow him a nice view on your behind.
You could feel his presence even before he touched you, the smell of his cologne mixed with his sweat hitting your nose. Rough hands collided with your ass once more, before wandering up your back, one finding its way into your hair, the other one holding his thick girth in his hand and dragging it from your clit to your hole. You whined as you noticed him going back down again with his tip, which lead to him plunging into your throbbing pussy all at once. Curses tumbled from the both of you, finally getting what you wanted.
Shota pulled you up by your hair, allowing his hand to play with chest. Cold metal came in contact with your nipples and only now did you realize that he had brought the knife with him. It took maybe a minute for your first orgasm to hit, considering the ones you were denied earlier had you on edge already. „Done already kitten? Does that mean you want me to stop?“ He knew it meant everything but. It’s just, having you beg for more gets him every time and he can’t deny how powerful it made him feel, which he needed now more than ever. „No, fuck. Please sir, need mo-oh, more,“ a moan cut through you as a single thrust hit your g-spot directly.
„Take it then,“ he pulled you down with him on the couch, his back against the backrest as you straddled his legs. Do to the new position his cock was even deeper than before and you were shaking with almost every bounce as you went up and down on him. Black eyes wandered from your face to your tits to your cunt, watching him disappear inside of you over and over again. Aizawa’s arms wandered from its resting place back to your body, one going to your back, the other one staying in the front.
You hissed, eyes growing wide as you felt rough fingers circling your puckering hole, while the other ones drew lazy patterns on your clit. Every now and then he would meet your movements, burying himself even deeper inside of you. By now you were a moaning mess, clenching around him as you could feel another knot building up in the pit of your stomach. „It’s alright, I got you. You can cum, I know you want to,“ Shota groaned, picking up the speed of his fingers and watching in pure bliss as you came undone once again, slowing down and pulling you into a deep kiss.
As you went to get up from him, your body now sensitive he grabbed your hips, pushing you down again. „Just because you’re on top doesn’t mean you get to control when we’re done,“ he said, delivering a harsh slip to the left side of your tits, before grabbing your throat and pushing you down into the mating press. „You have to remember your place doll. I get decide when we’re finished and I’m not done yet,“ he grunted, snapping his hips as the hand around you held you in place firmly. A warning slap heated up your tears stained cheek when you tried to wiggle away from him and he felt you clenching around his dick.
You looked so good with mascara running down your face, he thought, feeling himself getting closer and closer as you moaned his name like some sort of prayer. „Again, please,“ you said, feeling the third high coming. It took him a second to understand what you asked for, but when it finally clicked he cursed under his breath, telling you how perfect you are. As he slapped you again, holding your face in his hand and kissing your lips hotly you were holding onto his arm for dear life. Stars appeared in front your eyes as you came once again. You barely noticed anything but his thrusts turning sloppy before he released himself inside of you, buried deep and painting your insides white.
„I didn’t know pain turned you on so much,“ he said with a lazy smile on his face, looking down on your face, your embarrassed expression hardly hidden. „Me neither to be honest… You know how it went in the past,“ you hinted at your unsatisfied sex life with your ex husband, who thought doggy style was already pretty kinky. No shame to vanilla people, but now you knew it wasn’t what you wanted. „It’s good to know, we will test out more things in the future,“ the thought of it turned you on again already and you kissed his chest, letting him know you like the sound of that idea.
„I love you, you know?“ He mumbled as the two of you laid on the couch while drawing patterns on your back lazily. Your heart skipped a bit, this was the first time Aizawa mentioned his feelings for you. „You don’t gotta say it back, I know it’s all a bit messy,“ he said, kissing your forehead. „No, it’s just… After sex the mind is always bit-,“ „Yours might be after that but mine is as clear as ever,“ he cut you off, making you roll your eyes and laugh gently. „I love you too,“ it was mumbled, almost unnoticeable, but he heard you just fine which was all he needed.
————————————- Extra—————————————-
„I run this town. Piss me off again and your wife will find out about your little affair with your little lover boy. She’s pregnant, right? And you would like to be able to care for her don’t you? If so, I suggest you to never threaten my wife or my men ever again. It won’t just be your finger that I cut off, understood?“ He knew killing him off immediately will only cause war. He would win, of course, but it would be unnecessary and taking too much of his energy. „Yes Mister Aizawa,“ the hatred and fear in his eyes pleased him enough for the day, so he walked out of the room, ordering Bakugo to drop him off a few miles away from everyone. A nice nightly walk might clear his head he explained so the man bound to the chair could hear him just fine. „Don’t worry, I will let you keep your finger, but you should hurry, they turn bad fast,“ with that he went into the dark, ready to get home to you.

Eskel/Jaskier: AU where Jaskier met Eskel instead of Geralt and wrote Toss a Coin for him instead - scar kissing/appreciation - "guess love is a response/of the body it haunts"
This took me longer to write than I would have wanted, so thank you for waiting! This is... pure fluff. Hope it’s worth the wait, thank you for the lovely prompt!
CW: mildly horny towards the end, but otherwise it’s only fluff!
"I love the way you just sit in the corner and brood."
Eskel raises his head from where he’s been staring at his spit flavoured ale to meet a pair of twinkling blue eyes.
The bardling can't be more than eighteen, fresh-faced and smelling of arousal as he looks at the Witcher appraisingly. Eskel expects him to recoil at the sight of his scars in the low tavern light, but the bard's eyes only widen with interest, and he slides into the opposite empty seat, leaning his lute against the table.
"Oooh, you're a Witcher, aren't you?" He asks with barely restrained excitement. "I could tell from the other side of the room you were filled with stories. How about I buy you an ale, and you tell me some of them?"
Eskel snorts. "And how are you planning to pay for that ale? Stale bread?" He nods towards the bulges where the bard stuffed the food thrown at him after his less than appreciated performance.
"Well, no," the man deflates, but not for long, his carefree smile returning along a flirty wink, "but I'm sure we can find an arrangement."
The Witcher rises from his seat, leaving his untouched ale and a couple of coins on the table. "I do not bed teenagers."
That earns him an offended splutter from the bard, who doesn't take the hint and follows him through the tavern. "I'm not… I can assure you that I am a man. An adult man." His voice breaks a little on the last syllable and Eskel smirks.
"Want to try that again?" He asks, but before the bard has a chance to reply, a man interrupts them. There is fear in his voice when he asks for Eskel's help with a so-called devil haunting his fields, and the way his eyes keep going back to the Witcher's scars shouldn't make Eskel so uncomfortable, but it does. He still accepts the job.
*
After the whole debacle with the elves, Jaskier follows Eskel back to the inn, strumming his lute with a spring in his step despite the bruise on his forehead and the tears in his doublet. Eskel informs the man who hired him of his deal with the elves, collects his meagre pay, and immediately spends half of it for a warm meal. He sits in the same corner as this morning, and forgets all about the whole ordeal for the time it takes to fill his stomach.
His peace is temporary, as Jaskier takes back his place in the middle of the room, undeterred by his earlier flop, and starts strumming the same melody he’s been composing on their way back to Posada. And then he starts singing.
The song is… embarrassing. Jaskier doesn’t pay attention to the first hollers and insults from the patrons who recognize him, his eyes rarely leaving Eskel, who sits still, mortified, as he discovers the lyrics at the same time as everyone else.
By the end, the complaints have turned to cheers and stomping, and Jaskier’s cheeks are ruddy with exertion. He accepts to play the song a second time, then follows with popular jigs and bawdy tales that have the drunks singing and the others getting drunker. His attention strays from Eskel, though he still spares him smiles and winks when he happens to pass by his table.
Eskel should leave, he knows. The sun will go down soon, and he still has to find a place to set up camp. But he’s stuck to the bench, people throwing coins at him, clapping him in the back. The bartender even slides a free ale in front of him, with a grateful though reluctant nod. It doesn’t even smell of spit.
A warmth spreads in his chest that has nothing to do with the alcohol, and it only flares brighter every time Jaskier sends a smile his way. It takes him a while to identify this emotion, practised as he is at ignoring them. It’s gratefulness. Not for the people thanking him for ridding them of the elves, though that is a nice change. No, he is the one being grateful for the bard who met an old, grumpy Witcher and decided to see a hero worthy of ballads instead.
Eskel knows the bard benefits from it too, his pockets clinking with coin, knows the friendliness of the villagers will only last as long as alcohol fogs their stereotypes and superstitions, but he can’t help but revel in it, hoarding warmth and comfort as much as he can before he goes back to the cold loneliness of the Path.
Just after the sun sets, but long before the impromptu party is over, Eskel slinks outside, stomach full, a little tipsy on ale and joy. He doesn’t want to wait until alcohol makes the mean ones meaner and pushes them to try starting a fight with him. The bard has earned his success, Eskel won’t be the one to ruin it. He meets Scorpion on the outskirts of the city, caresses his velvety nose as the horse sniffs at his pockets for some treats.
“That was a good day, boy,” the Witcher tells his horse. “We shouldn’t get used to it, though. That’s how you get disappointed.”
Traveling with a human is a change Eskel struggles to adapt to, though it is admittedly nice. The boy is a smart one, cultured and quick-witted, but he doesn't know anything about life. His noble upbringing quickly becomes obvious to Eskel, the lack of basic knowledge like making a fire or cooking food revealing themselves on the first evening of their acquaintance. Eskel doesn't mind teaching the boy. It seems like the thing to do to thank the bard for the song, and for the company.
Before he finds himself maudlin longer, Eskel swings a leg over the saddle, and directs Scorpion to the South. Rapid footsteps echo behind him, and he turns to find the bard running in his direction, lute banging on his back and pockets heavy with the night’s earnings. The warmth that had bloomed in Eskel’s chest in the tavern buries itself deeper.
*
He doesn't expect the boy to stay long, maybe a week or two, until he's tired of sore feets and sleeping on hard ground, or he finds another "muse*, like he insists on calling Eskel.
But he stays, following Eskel everywhere, unless the Witcher insists he stays back at camp while he goes on a dangerous hunt, or he finds something of interest in a town they go through and decides to stay a couple more days. He always catches up, though, finding Eskel in whatever clearing he's set up camp and sitting at his side like they've never parted. It's nice, Eskel admits to himself. To have someone to talk to, about everything from music and art to monsters and magic. He finds himself brooding less and less, his mind focused on the colourful bard chatting next to him rather than on his own dark thoughts.
It comes slowly, he thinks, it buries itself under his skin, filling his every crevice without him noticing, but it's like falling from the edge of a cliff when he finally realises: he's happy.
He's been happy for a while. Since the ridiculous, optimistic, flirty bard entered his life.
He thinks about running, leaving Jaskier behind, before the inevitable happens and Eskel is left with a heart emptier than it was before. He could survive the loneliness when he had nothing else to compare it to; he's not sure he can go back to it now.
But he's not like his brothers, running from his feelings or translating all of them into anger. He takes the time to think about it, and decides that he'll take the risk. Jaskier doesn't look or smell like he has any intention of leaving Eskel's side for the moment, and Eskel has no intention of letting anything happen to the bard.
So he stays, and gets used to the company. It's surprisingly easy.
*
Winter is close, and Eskel finds himself feeling maudlin. Soon, Jaskier will head towards Oxenfurt to spend the season in warm lodgings, between some pretty girl's thighs, and wait for the sun to come back. Eskel will depart for Kaer Morhen, if he wants to get to the pass before it gets snowed in.
They've talked about it, and agreed to meet in the spring, but it doesn't keep Eskel from wishing they could stay together. He won't keep Jaskier from his plans, though, the bard sounding happy every time he mentions the friends he has at the Academy and his favourite inns to play at, where everyone, even the lowest drunkard, knows how to appreciate good music and poetry.
He shouldn't ask for more, he knows. The bard already gives him so much; his friendship and his songs and his smiles.
The day before they part, they pay for a room in an inn close to the crossroad where they’ll have to say goodbye to each other, and Eskel spends the afternoon knees deep in murky water to rid the local pond of a particularly aggressive bloedzuiger. It’s not dangerous, just long and damp, and his already foul mood sours even more. Back at the inn, Eskel leaves muddy puddles on the way to their room.
Jaskier hasn’t moved from the bed, where he is writing down his latest composition in the leather bound notebook that never leaves his side, along with his lute. He raises his eyes as Eskel enters the room, nose scrunching up at the Witcher’s state.
“I asked for a bath,” Eskel grumbles, unbuckling his armour and putting it close to the crackling fireplace to dry.
“Oh, good,” Jaskier chuckles. “Everything suits you, my dear, but I can’t say I like the smell of dead fish on you.”
Eskel snorts, but doesn’t reply, as the innkeeper’s daughter knocks on the door and sets to filling a modest tub with tepid water. He thanks her, and waits for her to close the door behind herself before undressing completely and stepping into the bath. It’s not Kaer Morhen’s hot springs, but it does soothe the ache in his bones that always settles when it gets cold. He sighs, relaxing after the frustrating contract, and doesn’t notice Jaskier has moved until he’s right behind him.
It should unsettle him that the bard can sneak up on his Witcher senses, but it has become a recurring occurrence, and Eskel doesn’t mind it so much. He likes being able to lower his guard with someone who’s not his brothers or Vesemir.
Nimble fingers thread in his hair, and he suppresses a shudder at the pleasant sensation. “What are you doing?” he asks without opening his eyes.
“Helping you clean that mess,” Jaskier replies in a low voice, almost a murmur.
Eskel hums, not seeing a reason to refuse the offer. The bard’s fingers on his scalp feel divine, and a purr builds in his chest as he slowly melts into a puddle. “That feels nice.”
Jaskier doesn’t reply, but he doesn’t stop either, even when he’s done with Eskel’s hair. His hands trail down to the Witcher’s neck and shoulders, digging into the muscles there with both strength and care. Eskel’s hard prick bobs in the water, but he doesn’t do anything about it. He knows the bard would accept enthusiastically if Eskel were to proposition him; he hasn’t stopped smelling of lust and ogling Eskel even after all these months, but that’s not what the Witcher wants at the moment.
The hands on his shoulders have traded their massage for featherlight caresses, trailing down old scar tissue and up again, teasing and tickling the sensitive skin. Touch purely for touch’s sake. Eskel hums again and Jaskier chuckles, a puff of air brushing the damp skin of Eskel’s neck. “What are you thinking about?”
“Come with me to Kaer Morhen,” the Witcher says before he has time to talk himself out of it.
The silence that follows is short but Eskel has the time to regret everything that has led him to that moment, until a pair of soft lips caresses the curve of his shoulder, where a werewolf bit out a chunk of flesh thirty years ago and left only a jagged silver scar. Jaskier follows it from one end of the half-moon to the other, then breathes against Eskel’s skin, “I’d be honoured.”
And the warmth in Eskel’s chest makes itself a home there.

warnings: a couple of swears, mentions of covid

summary: you first met harry on the set of dunkirk, but now you’re reunited on the set of his new film...
Tumblr media
Films had always fascinated you. The endless possibilities of art you could create, from the cinematography to the mise en scène, even to the sound, had always blown your mind. So, even from an early age, you always knew you wanted to get into filmmaking somehow. You were perhaps the worst actor to ever grace the planet, so acting was never an option for you. But alas, you studied film studies in school and went to university for the very same thing. At first, you’d considered becoming a cinematographer, but you realised you could entwine your love of film production and fashion. So, you found yourself as a costume designer.
In 2014, your dearest friend, Louisa, had dragged you to see Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. She had an unhealthy obsession with Timothée Chalamet at the time, and had made you watch every single film he’d been in - big role or small. So, while Louisa was busy being in love with Timothée Chalamet, you were busy nursing an adoration for Christopher Nolan films. And then, in 2016, you found yourself in Dunkerque, France, working alongside Mr Nolan himself.
As well as being incredibly interested in films, you were also somewhat of a history buff in school. So, working on a film like Dunkirk alongside names like Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy, was one of the most surreal first days on the job. Or, more notably, Harry Styles. Though Louisa was then going through her Tom Hardy phase, she was once a massive One Direction fan. And, though you never bothered to learn every last fact that was public knowledge about them, you could certainly appreciate their music.
As the weeks went on, you began to slip into place more. The more time that passed, the more you knew this was the career for you. And, you knew it wasn’t very professional, but you developed somewhat of a liking towards the singer. He was nice to you. But, then again, he was nice to everybody. It was just in his nature. You weren’t even sure he knew your name...
And then filming wrapped and you never saw him again. The pair of you had never exchanged numbers or followed each other on social media. And that was the end of that. And, after a month or so, your little crush on Harry died away. And, even when you went to the premiere, you only got a couple of glances at him.
In the three years since you last saw him, you’d never forgotten about him. It wasn’t exactly an easy feat forgetting about Harry Styles. But he had definitely been pushed to the back of your mind. Plenty of things had managed to take the front seat since then. You’d won an Oscar for Best Costume Design for your work on Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women at the beginning of 2020, which was completely insane (Louisa was still more amazed by the fact that you got to work with Timothée Chalamet). The award sat on your mantelpiece in your London flat beside a picture of Louisa and yourself.
However, more recently, you’d taken a place on the crew of Olivia Wilde’s new film: Don’t Worry, Darling. You’d worked on Booksmart with her and she simply adored you. Before production had even begun, you could already tell you were going to love working on this film. It was a psychological thriller set in the 50s - you were in love already. Not only that, but it was starring one of your good friends you’d made in the industry: Florence Pugh.
This all seemed great, until you were notified that Harry Styles would be taking the place of Shia LaBeouf to play ‘Jack’. You promised yourself that you wouldn’t let yourself be caught up by his unintentional charm once again. So, on the first day of filming, you turned up in your puffer jacket (despite it being filmed in California).
You had already worked with Olivia before filming on the costumes, or at least a large bulk of them. It was an odd sort of dynamic; she wanted you to take control simply due to your brilliant eye for fashion, especially vintage fashion, and you wanted her to take control as it was her film. In the end, you managed to create a cooperative working environment.
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t stalling as you were fixing up Florence’s costume. Harry’s needed doing next and you didn’t exactly want to face him. You’d tried desperately to stay out of Harry’s sight. And, so far, you’d been successful. When it came to measuring, you’d kindly asked one of your assistants to measure him (and she was more than happy to do so). But all your clever sneaking around was about to go down the drain. “You all right, Y/N?” Flo asked, noticing your shaky hands and your incessant fiddling.
You nodded quickly, “Yeah. Yeah, sorry. I think you’re good to go.”
She smiled, “Thanks. Love you.”
“Love you too!” you grinned as you watched her jog away. She disappeared behind a couple of trailers. As you approached Harry, who was busy talking to a couple of other crew members, you tried to convince yourself that, if you kept your head down, there was no way Harry would attempt to make small talk as you fixed his costume. You’d have your mask on, so there was absolutely no way he’d recognise you. Besides, it had been four years since you filmed Dunkirk, he wouldn’t even remember you. As you neared Harry and one of the gaffers, you cleared your throat, “Do you mind if I steal Harry for a second?”
“Sure,” the gaffer nodded, turning to work on some of the lighting. Keeping your head down and your hands quick, you got to work on adjusting his tuxedo. Awkward was definitely an understatement. Or, it was for you, at least. In an odd sort of way, you were begging for him to make some sort of conversation to ease the sheer awkwardness, but you prayed he stayed silent at the same time. Alas, your prayers weren’t enough. “It’s Y/N, right?” his voice came, though slightly muffled by his mask, you made it out clearly.
“Uh, yeah,” you nodded, adjusting his cuffs and trying your very hardest not to make eye contact with him.
“Congratulations on your Oscar,” was what he said next. “It was for Little Women, right?”
That got you to look up at him. Had he actually remembered your name all of four years or had he just recognised you when you made your acceptance speech at the Oscars? Maybe Florence had just mentioned your Oscar win earlier in the year, and that was how he knew. “Yeah, it was,” you replied. “Congratulations on your album.”
“Cheers,” he said. It was a good album - both of his were. Louisa had forced you to listen to his entire discography whenever you drove her around. Not that you were exactly complaining, you enjoyed Harry’s music. And, just as the awkwardness was beginning to pour back into the atmosphere, he added, “It’s no Oscar, though.”
“It was a bloody good album, though. It was nominated for a Brit too, wasn’t it?” you asked, vaguely remembering Louisa scream in your ear that Fine Line had been nominated for Best Album, or something along those lines.
He nodded, “Well, yeah.”
And, just like that, the conversation fizzled out into uneasy silence. You wanted to kick yourself for being such a shit conversationalist; there’s people who would kill to have a chat with Harry Styles. Yet, here you were, complimenting an album you weren’t even sure you could name all the songs on. Thankfully, the sound of Olivia’s voice caught your attention, “Y/N!”
The two of you turned to see her approaching quickly. She was waving two samples of fabric in front of you, “Oh, hi, Harry. Good thing you’re here, actually. Which of these were you thinking of for his other suit?”
You took both from her, inspecting them closely. One was a brown and the other was a blue, slightly lighter than a navy. “Well, I thought both would work. I mean, it’s up to you, but I think the brown contrasts with Florence’s costume better,” you replied. “But then I’ve got this lovely tie set aside for the blue. So, really it’s your decision.”
She hummed, agreeing with what you said, “I see what you mean. We could always use the blue for a different scene?”
You shrugged, nodding, “Yeah, I mean, the brown will definitely work better with Florence’s costume for those couple of scenes we’re shooting in Palm Springs. But, like I said, the blue is very fifties.”
She smiled, “Brilliant. I’ll sort out the brown, then.”
Quickly, you said, “No, it’s okay. I’ll sort it out when I’m finished with Harry.”
She thanked you as she left. Harry couldn’t take his eyes off you as you worked away, your eyebrows furrowed slightly as you sorted the hem of his trousers. And, thank God for the mandatory masks, as he couldn’t help the smile that danced across his lips. Then, in no time at all, Harry was snapped out of his small trance at the sound of your voice, “Right, you’re good to go.”
“Cheers, Y/N,” he smiled slightly, watching as you walked off towards one of your assistants. Sighing softly to himself, he left to find Florence.
The two weeks the entire cast and crew had off due to somebody testing positive for covid was a lovely break for you. As well as constant fear that they’d just call Don’t Worry, Darling off completely and you’d be out of work again. And the relentless guilt you felt for having to stay at Florence’s for the two weeks with her boyfriend because you didn’t have your own house in America, and you couldn’t fly back and forth between England and America. And the nights where you cried into Florence’s arms as you missed your family from back home. And the nights where you couldn’t sleep because you began to overthink things like if you’d locked your front door or turned the oven off. But, other than that, it’d been a smooth run.
But now you were back and in Palm Springs. And the sun was out and you were longing for a cold shower. You found yourself stood in front of Harry once more, trying to decide which tie would work best with his brown suit. He’d followed you on Instagram since your first interaction since Dunkirk, which received an onslaught of ecstatic texts from Louisa. But that was as far as it had ever gone. None of your conversations progressed past his costumes or anything work-related. And, when you first turned up on set on the very first day of production, that was what you’d wanted. But now you had to surround yourself with him everyday, you longed for him to ask about something other than the job. You wanted to discuss favourite novels and guilty pleasures and pet peeves and bad habits and embarrassing childhood stories with him. All these little things you wanted him to know about you.
Your mind was wandering and it took you a moment to realise that you weren’t even thinking about which tie worked best anymore. Your head was full of swirling fantasies that you knew would never come to be.
Harry, however, didn’t notice your zoned out expression either. He was too busy trying to figure out whether you were single due to the shirt you were wearing, which hung much too large on your frame. And the feeling of knowing there was a possibility that you were living a happy life with somebody else was beginning to rip him up inside. He was trying to remember if you’d thanked a boyfriend in your acceptance speech at the Oscars, but that all seemed so long ago now - he couldn’t possibly remember. So, in spite of himself, he asked, “Missing your boyfriend, then?”
You looked up at him, your hands dropping down to your sides. “What?”
“Your boyfriend - are you missing him?” Harry repeated, a small smile on his face to make his tone sound slightly less bitter.
“Oh, I don’t have a boyfriend,” you replied, finally settling on a tie.
“You don’t? I just figured, you know, with the shirt...” he trailed off, prompting you to elaborate.
You chuckled awkwardly, “Right, of course. I only do it to make myself appear less single.”
He laughed, but it was mainly out of relief. It wasn’t like he’d forgotten about you from the set of his first movie, you just hadn’t been on his mind for the four years following. But then he’d turned up on the first day of filming, seen you laughing with Florence and Olivia, and everything just came rushing back to him. All of the pent up feelings and the nights pondering all of the what ifs and the maybes. “Well, you fooled me,” he smiled.
“Just my ingenious plans working, as usual,” you joked, earning a small laugh from Harry.
As you finished wrapping the tie around Harry’s shirt collar, you informed him you were finished. He thanked you and left to get his hair and makeup done. You practically jumped out of your skin at the sound of Florence’s voice behind you, “I’m pretty sure if he asks you about your love life, it means he likes you.”
“Don’t sneak up on me like that!” you exclaimed, hitting Flo’s shoulder with the tie you opted not to use.
She laughed loudly, “You know I’m right!”
“He’s just making small talk.”
“No, Y/N, small talk is how nice the weather is, not ‘oh, are you single?’”
“Okay, firstly, he didn’t say that. Secondly, it’s California - it’s always nice weather,” you retorted. As much as you fought back, you quite liked the idea that Florence thought Harry liked you.
“You know what I mean!” she replied, grinning her infamous broad, cheeky smile. “Don’t even try and act like you wouldn’t mind if he liked you!”
“I don’t know what you mean,” you said sheepishly, a small smile gracing your features. As aforementioned - you were perhaps the worst actor to grace the planet.
“I knew it!” she grinned excitedly.
“Don’t you have hair to be done?” you chuckled, pushing her towards where she needed to go to get her hair styled for the shoot.
“This isn’t over, Y/N!” she called back as she slowly disappeared.
The following day, as you were patching up one of Chris Pine’s suits, Florence came and sat down opposite you. She had one of those devious smirks on her face and you knew that couldn’t mean anything good. You placed your needle down, staring expectantly at her. “How can I be of assistance?” you asked skeptically.
“Well, as your dear friend, I thought it was my duty to report back to you. So, I’d like to tell you that our good pal Harry was asking about you,” she grinned.
You sighed, “Was he? And what was he asking?”
“Something about if you have any allergies,” she replied.
“Wow,” you laughed, “must be hopelessly in love with me then.”
“No, listen. He asked about your allergies and then he asked what kind of food you liked. So, my guess is he’s going to ask you to dinner.”
“We’ll see,” you said, offering her a smile in the hopes that she’d just drop it.
“Indeed we will. I’ll see you in a bit, Y/N,” she grinned, pinching your cheeks as she got up. “Love you!”
You chuckled, “Love you too!”
And, just like that, you were left to your own devices. Though your flow had been disrupted, you got back to stitching up Chris’ suit, which had a minor tear in the lapel. Working on a film set, you were used to being interrupted; people would come and go, asking you all sorts of questions. You always found it pretty easy to get back into your rhythm. However, when Harry came and took the place of Florence, you were sure you wouldn’t be able to get back into your desired flow easily. “Oh, hey, Harry,” you greeted. “Are you okay?”
He nodded quickly. He wasn’t hiding his nervous shifting very well - despite how good of an actor he may be. He fiddled with his fingers, which lay in his lap. They were lacking the many, expensive-looking rings they usually adorned. He was out of costume, instead dressed in a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. His hair wasn’t slicked back and full of gel like it usually was on set. “Yeah, yeah. I’m okay,” he said, rather unconvincingly.
His eyes followed your fingers as they gripped the little needle, weaving it in and out of one of suit’s lapels. Another wave of awkwardness washed over the pair. But, for once, you didn’t feel uncomfortable. You weren’t the one who came over to start the conversation. “Are you busy tonight?” he suddenly asked, his voice almost shaky.
“Uh, no. Not if I can get this lapel finished,” you replied, your tone joking. Your eyes were still trained on your needle, but your mind was most definitely concentrating on every last syllable that fell from Harry’s lips.
He let out an awkward, breathy chuckle, “Right. Um, well, I was wondering if you maybe wanted to grab something to eat?”
You couldn’t help the tiny grin that pulled at the corner of your lips, “I’d love to.”
This was what you felt you’d been waiting for for a good four years. And, thank God, Florence had warned you that she suspected Harry was thinking of asking you out, otherwise you weren’t sure you’d be able to get out any comprehensible words. “Great,” he grinned, whatever nervousness that had been racing through his veins seemed to slowly drown away. “I’ll see you tonight, then. At 6?”
You nodded, overwhelmed with serotonin, trying to suppress the urge to let out a loud squeal. You knew you’d get back to Florence’s, share a glass of predate wine with her and dance about happily in her kitchen. All of these marvellous emotions swept through your body, which was abuzz with electric euphoria. And yet, all you replied was, with a small smile, “At 6.”
part two.
